"At furman. And you know we spend time with dabba seat. Dabo sweeney in that clemson. Step up there You know he. He knows the state. Welcome recruiting ranks. He knows the state of georgia very well from in in the high school ranks as well given know his dad and brother coach high school football in that state. Obviously that's very important to the gamecocks. And they're recruiting ties. So yeah he. He is a a hot name on. He's he's wanted this job and he's he's definitely in the thick of it. Would it tend to favor him because he has ties. And i do believe this is a state that were that really does matter versus hugh freeze who clearly. We'll take the job but It's just like going to a shopping mall. it's just the first one. He stopped off at agreed. You know yeah napier napier. It seems like he's he's had. This job circled for while so you know that you know when he gets if he gets an interview which you know i i would expect. He would given how popular rename. He's been with this tied to this program. If he gets interview that that might be something that might be able to steer the gamecocks you know in his direction and she just showing and proving to them how much he wants this job how much he wants to be there. You know how important it would be for him to be the head coach of the gamecocks and the ties that you know he already has in that state and like you said that that that plays big with with the school like south carolina needing to win those in favor recruiting battles and make. You're feeling that he already has a step up. You know having some experience in this state and in these borders. John i agree with you neighbor. The and and i had somebody told me earlier. The only negative is is his departure from clemson. And the reason i bring that up is a clemson fans will talk about The fact that you know his ending there was not that great. Can you realize we're going back ten years but what what happened Why did he leave there. It's been a while But i think he's a heyman data didn't see eye on some things and you know dabba was a young head coach at that point trying to establish himself and make a name for himself and you know he wanted to go in a different direction and you know with the head. Coach says goes and napier moved on and really. He's done a good job for himself. You know he moved on and once alabama work for nick sabin and did a good job. Coaching their water. Savers and recruiting. Well for them. You know and moved on arizona's state had a good got a good year. They're being their offensive coordinator and what he's done at louisiana speaks for itself and it seems like he's ready to get back and and really make a name for himself with a big job big higher which would be at south carolina so i i heard you pretty clearly there. Ten years is a long longtime his success. Recently you're saying is going to be a lot more important than would happen before before before clemson really even took off. Absolutely you know whoever the gamecocks tire you know. I'm sure clemson fans and that that part of the state is is gonna speak negli- negatively to whoever the gamecocks higher. You know they they picked it will must champion and you know his deficiencies rather than what the positives that he could have brought so you know obviously you know was maybe you're being you know a former clemson coach. There's going to be that that back and forth but you know i feel like after a decade and moving onto multiple spots around the country and proving himself that He's a prime spot to become the next gamecocks head coach. You know if if the game cocky ministration feels that same way so i had to handicap and realize your your report or not handicapper would would napier be the favorite and if that is true than than than where would Y would be next. Would be freeze or beamer or soccer. Someone else if now. We're speaking as if if the gamecocks not freeze because of everything. That's happened all fields for his video. If that's not the case. I i think here has to be considered. You know the favorite or you know one of the favorites along the beamer. I think right now Maybe around beamer are are the names. If you're thinking about you know they're tied to the state and and you know how important that would be the gamecocks administration finally We saw today where a couple more players have opted out. I mean do you think this will continue or do you think the bobo has been able to at least stem the bleeding edge. Just a few a few opt-outs. Leon the last forty eight hours. There's been four players total but have opted out and really two of them. You can make a case for you. Know with being engaged seahorn in israel their top their top secondary players who who will play in the nfl. Jc horn has a chance to be. You know a first round draft pick especially you know the the tape that he put on the field this year especially against auburn that big game that he had so you know. He has a chance to make a lot of money at the next level. mugambi was. Well maybe more slotting into a weekend pick rather than that first round. Pick but the other two smaller names. One of them was a freshman defensive tackle and the other was a junior safety who really hasn't panned out I don't know how much more it'll be. you know. I know the you know. The team had a very passionate team meeting this morning before before. Getting onto field for practice. And you know. Mike bobo said right now. It's only at four but you know given how this year pans out and how the ncwa is is giving these kids a free pass this year. You know what is the prize me. If even if the gamecocks win or lose against missouri on saturday that a couple of other kids could be like you know what. Let me just focus on my academics and staying in shape and you know. Football comes from me next year whether it's at at south carolina under new head coach. Or it's or somewhere else you know given the The one time transfer the nc double a.'s. Thinking about allowing for these kids. John del bianco from The big spur twenty four seven. John fantastic job. What a what. A great report on where we are with the search. Please come back soon. We really enjoyed it absolutely. Paul anytime thanks ravioli. You gotta really. I mean what an extraordinary report that was. We'll take a break. South Carolina Gets Its First Win Ever Against UConn

"I have to say you know you're allowed to lose it am. Am gave once in a while. The other team plays better than us. so how `bout you write that somewhere. South Carolina play way better than Connecticut. That's allowed to happen once in a while and it's not like. What did you guys do wrong this year? We're like every other team in the country. God Forbid Horse That Ladies and gentlemen was the voice. As of Gino Auriemma the head coach of the Yukon. huskies on Monday night after they took a loss to the South Carolina gamecocks number one team in the nation. Welcome I'm into your ESPN w women's basketball podcast. Around the Rim I am your host China Robinson joined as always by my fantastic and fabulous producer to Rica. GEICO foster Bradsby and the story of Monday night was not that uconn loss. It wasn't even that South Carolina one because as you know I've been on the South Carolina Allina train for a minute. They've been number one in my AP poll for a while so we knew the gamecocks were probably going to dominate that game. However oh yeah and they did it behind tie? Harris who played forty minutes had nineteen points eleven assists and should be on everyone's national player of the year radar but the story. It was more about looking at that environment. South Carolina eighteen thousand heads pay team thousand fans in colonial life arena. The environment was incredible. You feel it coming through your television and I referenced this on my twitter but when dos daily got to South Carolina. No one saw this happening. No one saw her being successful. Well some of US did but everybody was like. Oh she can't do it there you know but she goes on to win the National Championship. Well how are they gonNA fans well. They got eighteen thousand in their last night. And I said this and I just WanNa references quickly and then we'll move on from this story we've got so much to cover but dawn invested in the marketing of her own team. She put her own staff her own resources out of pocket into building that that program in the community. She shook hands like the. NCAA needs to do a study of how she is built at. Because I don't know about you but it was beautiful. It was amazing. I tweeted about it as well. I took a screen shot from my computer to post that with the with the line. People say that no one watches women basketball. You're right like you can't even say that. Eighteen thousand eight hundred thousand. It was beautiful and just a testament to what can happen When the investment is made in obviously the athletics department is well but shoutout to the gamecocks just had an awesome display of their team but also the environment on Monday night?

College Football: South Carolina Is A Ranked Team?

"Ben Ben Bryner joining us. Thanks for the time always great to have you on. We start with the the general question. How is life in Colombia covering the South Carolina gamecocks offered him well. You've got a situation relation readers and fans. They're not too happy. players also not too happy about how things are going and obviously will muschamp from his comments. Yesterday also also not real happy about how things have gone okay. We've established The happy meter is pretty low. I think muschamp said it best. When asked about this weekend being a must win I believe he said they're almost win? but how important is this one. I mean this one is maybe their last chance at one of those mid tier kind of wins because you look at the rest of the scheduled win the really winnable games come down to your vanderbilt your Tennessee your APP state which is probably going to be harder than most people think but it's still a non power five team and if they don't win this one there the chances of a four win season go up pretty dramatically and feels like almost a gap of a four or five win. Season emotionally is is pretty high already not that anyone would be happy with a five win season but that that kind of gap would be a big oneplus. Kentucky is one five in a row in this series and nearly every single time going in it seemed like Kentucky is not been in great shape and then South Carolina's offense. It's just sort of disappears and they come out with another loss. I think you've described it quite well. Let me ask you about the the mood there because someone called in and I believe I read something in your paper. Although it's sometimes difficult to read on your website unless you are a subscriber the raid tanner had comments today. don't know what he said. I assume you do yeah you. WanNa you WANNA you. WanNa local radio here and was was about as positive as you can you can imagine said he still backs. Coach said he's not going to go into his office. closed the door and necessarily say this is unacceptable. Oh he he feels that will jam understand sort of the stakes and understands what's going wrong but obviously you also wouldn't expect a lot of ladies to come out on the radio and just totally trashed their head coach. Even if they were sort of feeling that way they did it would be quite a story and by the way we had one about two years ago Scott Woodward at am came on our show at SEC media spring meetings. Excuse me and pretty much said Kevin someone had to have a big year or allison occurred so my question is why is Ray Tanner doing this knowing that what he says today will probably not be operational or operative in November if the bottom falls out. I think it's a matter I think a lot of that's just just re raise personality I think he he tends to look at things in a very upbeat way and you've got to also remember the former coach and I don't know that he's necessarily a guy that's GonNa you know trump his drop his people and and go out in public and necessarily speak that way because realistically if things were to to go all the way south and the change was made then that change would ultimately I think speaks for itself instead of necessarily him having to sort of lay the breadcrumbs up up to it talking to have been bryner about this situation and then one more thing on on that I believe there is what an eighteen billion dollar buyout. We'll mush does that for all intents and purposes shut down the conversation that he will be gone at the end of the season and it's it's hard to imagine and South Carolina coming up with that type of money to get rid of them agree freedom. I it's interesting. You definitely doesn't shut down the conversation. People are still talking talking about it. People are still asking about it. My my inbox has several emails that literally just have the headline of fire. Must Champ functionally. I think it probably would unless they found some sort of situation where it was negotiated down now. Obviously that would require a coach deciding to do that and usually in America folks. Don't give up that kind of money so I'd imagine is functionally stops that but it isn't gonNA. It doesn't shut that any of the noise okay well. Let's play this game yeah. Well I think we I think we all agree a win. This weekend would calm people down and maybe this conversation the next time we talk. We'll will be more about what happens on the field then off the field but if if Kentucky does this again in win for the sixth grade time let's take a realistic look at the schedule and try to figure out where this ends up landing because US everyone knows South Carolina has already played one of its feared opponents but many more remain yeah. I as you kind of look at it. They have three games that you they've well. They have two games that you'd say would be in the very winnable category your Vanderbilt Tennessee then you have APP state which which obviously is a giant killer obviously in the first year of a new coach and it's still not totally clear if they're what APP state has been. Maybe a little bit down but you've got those three games then you've got to of what we're sort of treated in the beginning of the year as toss ups and now look less so which would be your sex saying them and and your Florida and those if I if you kind of bend your be bent your mind a little bit you can you imagine an upset scenario but those are a very long shot and then you bet clemson and Georgia Georgia on the road pumps and comes down here in Columbia and those are some pretty tough games so you're looking at right now. You're the one in three and if they lose at best every game they're really supposed to. They're going to be They're going to get two seven losses so the question is if they really can right the ship. Could they pull off upsets. Maybe but you know you'd have to really write that ship and then the question would be with those other games. What kind of damage control can you do in terms of what you sense. It's every day Ben Listen. You're there. Were not you talk to fans you hear from fans. You read their responses you hear from them through various mediums and platforms. How would you describe Game Cock Fan Base Right now. I think the majority of them are incredibly not sold. I think that's kind of where this is. This was a team that last year came in with a lot of hype and didn't match it and this was year team that this year came in with sort of the the sense that it was going to be more solid maybe the record wouldn't show it because the schedule was so hard but he was gonna look like a better team and between the way they came out against UNC and sort of the ups and downs that we've seen since it seems like they've kind of lost a lot of people now could a big year. Hold them back sure probably because that's sort of how this works you need a big year and even next year the schedule it doesn't look particularly forgiving because there's no UNC which wasn't supposed to be a big game anyway and and they just trade out Alabama in Columbia for a trip to Lsu so life doesn't get that much easier so if you had to look into a crystal ball which I'm sure you have plenty of it the offices of the state. Where do you see this ending up. I see them winning four to five games depending on how Saturday goes and I still have no great read on Saturday because every time these Kentucky Games happened. I think one is is going to happen and we ended up in a very confusing soon. After I kinda think that buyout just sorta hold and there's a very uncomfortable off-season and then you go into next year and you kind of see how things fall that's what I think right now I could imagine a world in which it spins differently but right now just because of sort of having a former coaches. AD having a guy who lose pretty deliberately having a new school President I think that maybe you just kind of end up in a holding pattern unless things go completely south now if they lose tap state and ended up with three wins that might change things been how bad would it be if three or four wins occurred and and you see the cross state rivals win another the national championship. Oh I think it's I think that's definitely a factor because that team is right there and that team that sort of swung long as quickly as it did with you know a very nontraditional head coach that was hired and then you know you come here and you've got the Wilma Shampoo experiment which has been certainly different because it was taking a guy who struggled at a bigger job and bring him down here. I think it would definitely I think that the Clemson thing is always as in the back of people's minds. Even if you know some folks will try to talk people down and we'll say it's just it's apples to oranges at this current juncture but people don't want to hear that and I think that's always on people's minds then Brian in absolutely fabulous report on the situation in in South Carolina Ben Comeback Soon. Thank you very very much. We'll do thanks for having me great stuff very very realistic report. No sugar coating no cheerleading relating just the truth

"The Gamecocks and the Crimson Tide and for will Muschamp this was a team that he said coming into the year his best is four years in Colombia deepest most talented demanded they take a disappointing opening we lost bowling eleven point fourth quarter lead and falling to North Carolina squad that won just two games last season they've also lost the starting quarterback Jake Bentley for the season to a broken foot so now it's a different story it was a rout last week write a list he's first career start but is will Muschamp is set all week you have to consider Charleston southern in the competition is not Alabama so coach must happen I talked this week I asked him if his players are feeling a different bus. again now we've got a lot of respect for obviously having worked for neck for four years and and I've got to mention I guess five years and I've got to mention spectrum but then also we have great respect for the program but we think we've made strides in our four years here's universes South Carolina and and I I told our guys this is a coastal visit honestly what I believe this is world tree just came just like every other game I was gonna come down to forty six plays a we've got to make in the game and we've got to play harder now for sixty mention this football team do the simple things very well and just keep swinging throughout the entire game and that's with our our that's the mentality of our football team heading into every game in and that's no different than it is here obviously we've got tremendous respect for them and what they do with it but again it all to me it all goes back to take care of South Carolina go to the game week is there something you look for from your team to see if they're actually believing what you're saying about one team won game not bigger picture or the magnitude of the opponent well Jason I think that is what I say every week so there's no there's no changes far as that's concerned obviously we talk in terms of the things we've got to do to win the game first each team and and and and some of those things don't change for taking care of all explosive plays in a different you know we call the plan to win formula for us but the the it never changes as one of the many things our from neck if you start treating anybody different also your players don't figure out who what's important and what's not important held their own. so you have a freshman quarterback now starting coach because of the injury to Jake Bentley and Ryan who Lynskey played really well last week against Charleston southern but because it's Alabama and it's an SEC opener is there any more hand holding with the guy was about to make his second career collegiate start now and again I think gays in the most important thing is what does he feel comfortable with. not about what we think is good as coaches it's about what he thinks he's one's gonna go out boy and then I challenge are often the players are deep and when you play well rounded I asked a couple of our guys that did play linebacker couple our guys play defense backup organically receiver were you nervous before your first name and then when I also of course the house members okay just think about playing quarterback so I'm used to the home perspective here there's a lot going on for this guy if your players asked you how nervous you were what was your first game as a head coach what would you have said landers form I don't know nervous with the with the the the the account and our lunches I'll be honestly of the title of the nervousness from first game one unfortunately I feel the same way after my first game I said as I do about my eightieth game so. because you mentioned earlier working with Nick say bin and you did it a couple of spots but that's like fifteen years ago do people below all of it out of proportion when it's coach going against a former boss and then I'm going head to head his head coaches I think that it's you can over think this stuff in in in the way I can look at when I was with Nick at the Miami Dolphins and the and the and the AFC east we played the patriots twice the just twice in the bills twice in so when we play in the next time you know you can over think about what somebody's gonna do it in a day you're going to do what you do well and he's going to do what he does well and we'll they'll be some subtle change up here and there and all three phases sure there's gonna be some subtle changes will not to make some adjustments there probably not to make some adjustments but. are there some things obviously from a play calling standpoint and I know he likes sure but again a new play calling offense of someone of a new play caller on defense even though a lot of it runs their neck so I think it's overblown little bit to be honest with you South Carolina head coach will Muschamp good luck today our days take care man go **** that's out there a lot as information department says this would be the school's second biggest win in terms of rankings they beat number one Alabama back in twenty ten but the Gamecocks they were ranked nineteenth in that game this would be one of the biggest upsets it's bad but in South Carolina it just about fifteen minutes but when we return Ohio state continues the dominance over one particular big ten fold well Maryland is ranked below will last another week this is west was coverage of NCAA football. the world needs more heroes more action oriented to. here's how I can help right hand men and women the world of circle was no different. "Home to numerous stories about game five of the World Series as well as stories back games three and four over the weekend. We've got sat cram on where this Red Sox team ranks among the greatest teams in baseball history. I wrote about where the dodgers go from here after losing back to back World Series. And Ben Burtt about David prices legacy. And there will be more stories to come throughout the week as we transition into Aussies mode. We are going to pick this World Series carcass until there's no meat left on the bone. So keep your eyes peeled for more baseball coverage throughout the week. But now without further delay. Let's bring on Zach cram and Ben lemberg to do our World Series postmortem. All right. We have a champion a World Series champion. The Boston Red Sox. God save us. All and to discuss the last three game. Of the World Series are two friends of mine. A man who's profanity shocks and frightens Rafael Devers. That's been Lindbergh is it. Hello. And a man who is still at game. Three Zach cram where entering the top of the twenty third. I think if we're going to talk about the World Series. There's only one place to start. And that's with Gamecocks legend, Steve here's. World Series MVP. All right. I'm not gonna play entire song. So before the series. I predicted that Steve Pearce would win the MVP and Ben laughed at me. And so here to to punish you for for your disbelief. I asked Bobby Wagner to to pull that clip. So let's let's just all basket by own bio, great foresight. MVP picks. I I think Mukhi bets is going to be the pivotal player in the series. I think it'd be shows up. The Red Sox are gonna win this. If he puts up like. Are the kind of performance we saw from Alex bregman in the division series than the Red Sox are going to win this easily. If he knows shows than this is wide open, and he becomes even more pivotal. If he starts at second base in the middle three games of the series. So while I think he's going to be the lynchpin I'm gonna make it a clean sweep of Gamecocks MVP's and pick Steve Pearce to be your pig. Okay. Before we move onto the substance of the the last three games. I think you guys should just spend a minute talking about how right? I was. You are totally entitled to that victory. Let I give you full credit. He would not have predicted that I did not predict that obviously. And I think Stephen Pierce was not only the MVP he was the worthy and most deserving candidate for MVP. It wasn't a series where anyone had like a totally legendary series of Steve Pearson series is legendary to his Red Sox fan family and to Red Sox fans everywhere, I'm sure, but it's not like one of the all-time performances in a playoff series that we will remember forever, but he was totally deserving. He kind of concentrated it in the last couple of games there. But he made a count. I was reminded that in the twenty sixteen twenty seventeen off season. So two years ago. I wrote a piece on the ten best bargains of the off season. And Steve pierces, my number one bargain. So. I called it even before you, Michael. But that was also in Steve Pearce was with the Blue Jays and other members. I put on this list as I'm looking now included Danny Espinosa, the angels and Koji who a heart of the cubs. Neither of which freely panned out like Steve Pearson. But I do think that if there was a surprise here. And obviously all of it was a surprise. It's that Pierce did a lot of damage against right handed hitting right handed pitching to he has been a lefty masher for a while now and his home run against Kershaw in game five was evidence of that. But homering against kenley Jansen in game. Four was kind of where you don't expect him to even receive in at bat in that scenario, and he succeeded and basically that change the series from a potential to tie to wear the Red Sox basically had an insurmountable advantage. I appreciate Ben say Ben talking about how you weren't wrong by that much and Zach saying that you were right..

"One I'm going to go to South Carolina, SEC matchup, the Gamecocks. Our our ten point home dogs. I'm telling you Georgia's a great team and a third ranked team in the nation at cover off a national championship game loss a year ago. And I know number of the guys are now play in the National Football League. And Kirby sports got that program, actually, humming right along. I just think this early in the season ten's allot to give to a team of South Carolina is also a top twenty five team coming off an opening week victory at home. I'm not saying South Carolina's gonna win the game. I don't think. So. But I do think they can hang with Georgia. I'm gonna take the Gamecocks plus ten that's picked number

"A while since we've been able to grab some call. So why don't we do that right now? Joseph in Columbia, South Carolina. How are you Joseph, Paul? How are you doing? Great. Thank you. Okay. I have a little something to take up with you in general, but with the rest of the media. It seems like the year after year myself, Carolina, Gamecocks disrespected. And like, I think that we well, we started this year outside of the top twenty five and I believe we're gonna do some damage this year Paul and I believe that Georgia doesn't know what they have coming very young defense, but we have very extensive alternates. We got deebo Samuel, listen, hold on saying, we know all that. I'm trying to understand why you think you've been disrespected over the last couple years because why shouldn't they. I'm speaking specifically about this year. On the Michigan in the bowl game. Listen. Stop for a second. Okay. I was in Colombia the day of the Clemson game, and they ran all over you. And when you when you get just destroyed by your instate rival at home, it's going to give the media just a little bit of pause before they prop you up. The Michigan wind was fantastic. But Michigan we found out has become more of a pretender than a critique gender of trae is up next also in South Carolina, Spartanburg, how are you? Great. Powell love the show first time caller. Thank you, happy Labor Day by the way. Same to you. Appreciate. Thank but just want to go along with the kind of thing. Lamble adjusted with say, I, I wanna give a shout out to all of my fellow college football helmet state. I think we have as big a robbery ATS any in the country including Aubanel Bela if you live here, you know that, but, but wishing it actually about thirteen, here's out Carolina Gamecocks but given Clinton's success for the last few years. ACC on its, here's how you think Clinton do and ANC. And do you think maybe a rivalry kinda veil between Clinton now Bama. Tray of Clemson was in the SEC right now. They would be at the same level as Alabama and Georgia. I mean, they, they are that good and the program is built for success in in terms of a big time league. I mean, Dabbo Sweeney knows about the SEC he played in and he coached in it, and I can't think of many places. I've been in this country that are more impressive than what I've seen at Clemson right off roll. One more quick thing I've learned to think Dan Bo may someday replace Nick Sabin. I think in the short term, you would be the first choice things change, but if saving were to leave in the next two to three years, I think Dabbagh would clearly be the guy that they would come after. Dabble has been pretty emphatic. He wouldn't take the job, but it's got frost used to say he wouldn't take the Nebraska job either. Speaking of Daboh Sweeney, he will be with us this Thursday. We always enjoy talking to him and he will be right here on the program. Let's continue with more calls. Memphis, Tennessee is my our next Ben guard Ed. Becker, taking my call. I just wanted to bring this point..
