So somehow the gainesville ripper as kind of connected to scream movie and series roy. Least the first script and scream is one of my favorite horror movies. I love wes craven. He's the guy that directed it but scream is is one of my favorites. Just put a new spin on horror movies because supposedly the screenplay became scream the successful nineteen ninety six fright flick that was celebrated for its knowing winks at the horror film trope and breathing new life into the genre. Have you seen scream. I have okay. Can you shut the fuck. What connection this guy has with the guy who wrote it. So what he. I guess he was watching. The guy that wrote the screenplay was watching a news programme. A bell the drifter the gangs ville ripper and he started a loose spooked by the whole news. Program in and watching this zero killer should unfold and the nine hundred ninety that he started writing. Scream i guess so. This kind of expired him. Yeah yeah. I want never known that he said either and i was like. That's super interesting. Because that's one of my favorite horror movies. As just the way they kind of it was kind of a comedy they were making fun of shit but also there was like those good jump scares and then you have like randy. The one guy like loves horror movies like he. That'd be like my character and then he's like you know you have to fucking formula prom night. He goes after these certain people like it's all about how it's kind of set up in the trying to flip the narrative of its head one movie final final destiny. I wanna watch that recently. My girlfriend's watched it so much when we were younger. I don't. I don't want to watch it but i was like say that last night i was like we should watch fucking foul destination man on those movies. Were pretty funny. Or it's just like the. What was it a curse or something like that. Because i haven't seen those movies plane was going to crash. And then he saw the plane about to crash and then kind of freaked out and the plane landed so he kinda cheated death. And that's what kind of the movie going with. C. cheated death and so everybody else on that plane intensifies. I remember that. But like i thought a lot of the file destinations were like decent. Like i like number. Two number three was pretty good after like the third or fourth one. I just got more and more exaggerated. That's how i see it. Yeah and again. I mean i feel especially with like everything in the world and how the whole situation when my dad and stuff. I feel like a when it's your time it's your time when it's not your time. It's not your time you know what i mean. I don't think anybody can can really. It's so it's so fragile as far as what can happen. Even if you're the healthiest fucking person on earth. Bro comes for you who have had heart attacks on. I mean i've known people that smoke packs of cigarettes and are still alive and like fine like no health issues. Yeah usually why is it. That like homeless people. And i'm not trying to make fun of everybody. Like homeless people can make fun of the homeless people..

Anzu's Plan to Evolve In-Game Advertising with CEO Itamar Benedy

"Any of these Sports networks other properties on this episode of the E Sports Network podcast for bringing back a gasp from about a year ago wage a little more bonetti. He's the co-founder and CEO of on zoo in a more. Welcome back to the Shelf. Hey meets great to be here tomorrow is on the show back in February of 2020 where we discussed the growth of in-game advertising age people who miss that show or too many of our new listeners since then on to his a platform that makes it easier for braids to get into video game worlds and for developers to open up more potential White spaces in their games for Grants Pass. I'll do is work with Publishers like Ubisoft at lide Castle to deliver Brayden moments for major. It's like Samsung Pepsi American Eagle and many more Esports. We've seen it gave ads take Auto larger role especially patiently League of Legends open up space in summoner's Rift and it was filled by MasterCard an Alienware among other partners and just this morning as a record this on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 rocket League announced that Ford is going to take over there it gave Billboards for the upcoming which are major on zoo also had a big adults with this what the platform recently raised nine million dollars in additional capital in around Kool-Aid buyback Fetchers and hbse Ventures. There is participation by plenty more investors, of course, including Mark Merrill, one of the two founders of Riot games, this follows two other funny raises of three and five million. So in Mark Gratz of the race, first of all, what are the plans for this capital? Yeah, thank you Mitch. So as you said we raised 9 million dollars beatcraft is one of our previous investors are still leading gaming Esports v c. B c is a new VC which comes from the sport world and a lot of touchpoints around gaming and then other investors are wpp the biggest advertising group in the world, which is also like in the existing investor and Sony Innovation fund, you know, Sony is one of the biggest gaming groups in the world and the owner of PlayStation. So that's a privilege to have them on board Mark Romero the founder and chairman of road games on League of Legends. As you mentioned didn't call ins the founder and CEO of super awesome that recently got acquired by epic games and the Chicago Cubs. Yeah, the baseball team go Ventures and gainesville's and illumine Adventures. So a very crowded and exciting structure of invest investors to have on board. I'm a Cardinals fan so we'll let the dog So invested things slide, I guess but grats on all the different people who came together you mentioned before we started recording you were in the position that every founder kind of hopes. They find themselves in which is we have a few people. We have a different options for Capital so we can pick the people that make the most strategic sense for us going forward. What did you find from the mobile the different investors? What were you looking for? Especially as guiding parts of the company to push it Forward? Sure. So I mean, you know what this round was not about it was not about as fast as we could have fine as it like very very fast as what it was about bringing the best structure. Number one number two, it was about, you know to maximize shareholder value. We could raise almost double the amount but we didn't want to make sense. This is the amount of cash we need for next stage Rose and then in the future if it's a year from now or two years from now we can do another round off. For that makes sense. So we were not looking at at you know, these things it was more about we have a lot of confidence in him. Advertising is going to become a major business model for game divorce across all platforms, through PC Mobile and an important ads category four Brands media agencies and the ESPYs and and the question is how fast can that happen or more sneaking about big Brands big Publishers not easy companies to convince them to do something new. So when we meet partners that can help us to make this happen faster than wages. Are we get excited one form to partner is again investment one is a strategic partnership and they can elaborate more of some of the Partnerships we have in place and some of them is people who join our team. So that was what was guiding us and looking at the different, you know buckets of we are investors came from there is some you know, some like VCS and financial institutions. There is advertising and groups. There is game. Groups and there is a sports organizations that have a lot of touch point in going to become an important overlap in my opinion the next two years. And of course there is like with the values that we want to group represents and communicate us companies gauges as the leading investor for equal opportunity and Which choice for us an important to him and announcement to basically said if the world that was how we were looking at it that's a great place to be at

"After this Danny Rawling becomes the infamous. Gainesville ripper now back to the story after shooting his father during an argument thirty six year old murderer. Danny Rolling went on the run. He spent the summer of nineteen ninety hitchhiking around the southwestern United States eventually reaching Florida there. He burglarized several homes and brutally raped a woman in August. He made his way to the town of Gainesville home to the University of Florida. Gainesville has a large population of college students. When Danny arrived thousands were moving into dorms and apartments for the new semester. Watching the students fill up the restaurants and bars ignited an indescribable rage in Danny. Exactly what it was about Gainesville that triggered him. We can't be sure but he later claimed that a terrifying demonic voice was talking to him around this time the same one that had been plaguing him for years by now. Gani had given the voice name Gemini according to his book the making of a serial killer Gemini was calling the shots whenever Danny committed a violent crime and after tasting blood the year. Before when he killed the GRISSOM's it seemed the demon thirsted for more really in the morning on August. Twenty Fourth Nineteen Ninety undercover of Darkness. Danny stole a bicycle and cycled through the streets of Gainesville clad. All in black. He slipped through the shadows a blue sports bag strapped to his waist. He could feel the weight of the bag. Upon his hip moving. In time with his peddling feet it held everything for his next murder after writing for awhile something about the Williamsburg village apartments building caught. Danny cy he leaned his stolen bike against a wall and pulled weather gloves and a ski mask out of his bag. Donning his disguise. He climbed quietly up the stairs and came to a stop outside apartment number one thirteen using a screwdriver. He forced his way in through the locked door. Then he pulled out his navy seal style. K-bar hunting knife and began to prowl entering the still dark living room. He found seventeen year old. Christina Powell asleep on the couch. He considered her for a moment then moves towards the staircase in an upstairs bedroom. Sonja Larson lay sleeping in her bed. Allegedly guided by the Voice of Gemini. Danny gag the eighteen year old with duct tape and stabbed her to death after he watched. Die Danny left the bedroom and crept back downstairs. Christina hadn't heard of thing covered in blood. He Woke Christina and promised. He wouldn't hurt her if she did what he asked. He assaulted and raped her before stabbing her to death on the living room floor he then defiled her lifeless body one last time after leaving the apartment. Danny carefully discarded the duct tape yet used trying to dispose of any evidence that might tie him to the crime. Two days later when Christina and Sonia's parents couldn't reach them. They called the police to check in on the girls. On August twenty sixth of authorities arrived at the apartment and forced their way in the bodies of both teams were lying out. In the open they had been suggestively posed and Christina's nipples had been sliced off at the time. Dr William Hamilton Gainesville Chief Medical Examiner told investigators that whoever this killer was they were just getting started. Just nine hours later. Police were called to another home eighteen year old Christa. Hoyt lived two miles from Christina and Sonya and like them was a student at the University of Florida. Chris colleagues had sounded the alarm when she hadn't shown up for work on time she worked clerk of the county sheriff's Department and hope to one day. Be a crime lab technician. Unfortunately her dreams were cut short by Danny Rolling. Authorities found Christie's mangled body in her bedroom as with Christine and Sonia. She'd been deliberately posed this time. However the killer had gone to more dramatic links after he raped. Krista Danny had mutilated her corpse. He had even moved bookshelf across the apartment for the sole purpose of displaying. Her decapitated head Rod Smith. The state attorney at the time noted that the specific dramatic posing indicated that the killer like to make a production out of the event in our last episode. We discussed how Danny posed Julie GRISSOM's body. The sexual nature of her position suggested Danny's hatred of women and his desire to see them humiliated after death given that all of his female victims had dark brown hair like his ex wife. It's possible that Danny was directing his latent rage about his divorce at women who reminded him of her. His next victims were also forced into blue positions after their deaths. But considering the lengths Danny went to in order to decapitate KRISTA. Her pose stood out as particularly disturbing in an article from the Journal for the American Academy of Psychiatry and Law. Researchers concluded that while the act of murder was often part of in offenders. Sexual arousal pattern. Subsequent posing can be tied to their deviant sexual fantasies as a pubescent boy. Danny masturbated defenses during which he controlled and kill people now having graduated from rapist to murderer his sexual fantasies were coming true and clearly. They were growing more twisted by the day as we discussed Danny later blamed his actions on the gem demon that he claims spoke to him but it seems more likely that he was simply acting his darkest impulses whatever was driving his actions. Danny had committed three brutal murders in the space of a few days with less than a week to go until fall. Classes started at the University of Florida. Word was beginning to spread about a possible serial killer on campus. But it wasn't spreading fast enough. Even as police cordoned off Chris to Heights. Apartment Danny was moving onto his next crime. The same morning her body was discovered he burst into a first union bank nearby and made off with a bag of cash. While many of Danny's earlier attacks had been somewhat isolated events with long periods of inactivity. In between he was now working himself into a kind of frenzy in technical terms. This is what's known as a homicidal crime spree. According to a two thousand eight article in Criminal Justice Studies criminals who committed homicidal crime sprees often displayed a pronounced degree of versatility in their crimes. The sheer magnitude of their deeds was often greater than those of criminals who did not murder the next day. The bodies of two more murdered students were found. Twenty three year olds Tracy. Paulus and Manuel Manny top. Awada have been lifelong friends. Both had been stabbed to death inside their own apartment. Tracey's body was found posed on the floor in the middle of Hallway. Manny had been killed in his bed and his body had not been posed like Danny's first murder this indicated to investigators that the young had been Danny's only intended target. Manny had simply been an obstacle in the way it had been less than seventy two hours. Since Christina Powell and Sony Larson's bodies were discovered and now Gainesville police had a total of five murders to investigate as news brokaw about tracy and manny locals began to fear for their own safety. Manny's death in particular signal that no one was safe man or woman at the time. The city's annual rate was typically in the single digits. Five murders in three days had people understandably panicked. Many students at the University of Florida packed their things and went back to their hometowns. As soon as they could around. Seven hundred of these fleeing students would eventually choose not to return to the university at all as the mass exodus took place. Journalists reporters flocked to the city from across the country Danny made national news and the media gave them a sensational name. But GAINESVILLE RIPPER. The publicity and panic caused rumours to spread around the city. Some swore the ripper was a pizza. Deliveryman others insisted it was a cop still more heard. The killer was actually a doctor. No one could be trusted. Locals cleared the shelves of gun stores. People were desperate for a way to feel safe in their own homes again. What was just days earlier? A Peaceful Community had been transformed into a hotbed of fear and paranoia at the time. Safety Darnell was the public information officer for the GAINESVILLE police looking back on those weeks. She remembered cautioning the community to take their time and do things to feel safe but not to get carried away but in the back of her mind she was fighting her own instincts to tell people to get out of Gainesville. Meanwhile darnold colleagues were hard at work investigating the murders as they carefully picked over the gruesome crime scenes. Danny left behind. They notice patterns about his behavior and strange signatures in his Mo for example after examining the width and depth of the stab wounds. It was clear that each victim was attacked with the same weapon. `I k-bar hunting knife around seven inches long. There was also an adhesive residue on some of the bodies. This suggested the killer had restrained his victims with duct.

"Due to the graphic nature of this killer's crimes listener discretion is advised this episode includes discussions of domestic abuse murder and sexual assault that some people may find offensive. We advise extreme caution for children under thirteen. The night air was warm but twenty-three-year-old Danny Rolling had isis heart. He walked the quiet streets of his parents neighborhood. Trying not to think about what had just happened. His wife Amaafuza had just driven the final nail into the coffin. Their marriage was dead. Amaafuza had taken everything from him even as daughter now there was a chance he may never see either of them again. Danny's fingernails drove into his palms as he clenched his fists. He felt incensed rejected. He'd been given Autho by God and she had decided that didn't matter eventually. Danny arrived at a familiar house. Just a few streets from his parents home to young coeds lived there. Danny knew them. Well not personally thou- he had taken to watching them at night through their open windows. One of them was blonde. The other Brunette thinking about the Brunette may Danny Remember Obama's own long auburn hair. It was one of the first things he'd noticed about her. He step toward the sidewalk and move towards the House on such a hot night. The women had left their front door. Wide Open a screen door was all that separated them from Danny. He was close enough to see now the Brunette he didn't know her name was alone on the couch reading as he stood watching her study a surge of anger came over. Danny he no longer felt content simply observing from the darkness he stalked closer to the house. Picking up a sharp metal gardening tool on his way. Hi I'm Greg pulsing. "It seems impossible that Arkansas even covers based on what we've seen. That's that's what amazes me sort of figure out like Obama's lost to spreads on room. I that. Nine and a half, so become tough because they'll be important game, run up. The score kind of feel go to go up forty nine, two. Yeah, ten or something. Yeah. I, I'm more concerned because I know Alabama's gonna roll it. It's to a ton of Loa has has just revolutionized prop like now the question is what quarter will Jalen hurts through his. I pass in will Mack Jones get action in the first half somebody beyond Jones. Good question, and we need to find out. So the other part of this in. I'm not even sure why we're talking about it, but saving on the fans. Saving Allah gist of which I have an institute, of course believe there's something more to it, although I've yet to figure out what that something more to with him. Always my my thing is it's your thing. It's your, they're your seats in your stadium. If you don't feel like students are showing up enough given to somebody who wants to come, I don't know who wants to come to the Louisiana, Lafayette thing. You know he's talking about, you know, he was disappointed to see, you know. So few students in the student's section, I'm sure the students were disappointed to see Luzia Lafayette on the field that this is what I tell all these when they asked, well, how do we get more people to show up? How do we get the people who bought tickets to not know show like giving something to watch Indian, and this is a story that were contrary on Sabin, but it's a real story, right? It is and it's not. It's not a and remember who's the guy who was the first person in the SEC to say, let's play nine conference game. Let's only play power, five opponents, Nick Sabin. And I don't think it was in in the case of him trying to help everybody sell tickets. But the truth of the matter is if you wanna sell season tickets, if you want people to show up who bought season tickets have better opponents, nine conference games would almost guarantee that and then if you had another, let's say you, you made them schedule a second power, five non-conference opponent that would also, yeah, bump that up in realized that all television networks including this one depend heavily on and your television that would love it. They knew now Greg, thank you be like, hey, you know? Yeah. The fans don't. Like, I mean, it's it's it's twelve o'clock in eastern about eleven o'clock central. It's early. It is early and especially this part of the country because people love to party before it blows my mind. When I hear the people on the west coast complaining about night games, LSU fans riot if they don't get a night. So I, I'm with you there and you know, it's you think about like Texas, Oklahoma tomorrow kicks off at eleven AM low. I I was embedded with Troy when they played at Nebraska, and that wasn't eleven, AM local. And the Troy coaches were so happy because they're like the rescue players. You know, they're in their routines and eleven o'clock in the morning there. 'cause we're on the road. We're, we're out of our routine anyways. We get our guys ready, but the home team at eleven o'clock game just is half asleep, half Neil Brown jersey going. It's. You know, it's interesting because looks like one. If it goes the way it's going could open Neil as a Kentucky state of Kentucky. But Jeff from is a Louisville guy. So if I'm Louisville and I do make a change, go Jeff from I and and see Neil Brown, I think is one of those that that a lot of people ill, North Carolina Mehta change. I think he'd be good there. He worked out at Texas Tech so they made a change. That's something they might think about. But my guess is he would try to stay in the south, which is where his recruiting roots are. I think that's, that's probably the preference there always great..

"But you got a big ten transfer who doesn't throw. Interceptions sounds like last year. Yeah, you good running backs. You got a okay offense of line that probably could be a little bit better. You've got receivers that are talented but are not wowing you with anything. They're they're doing on the field. So feels very similar. The differences, the defense feels deeper and especially on the defensive line. And I know they lost Chason early, but they still see get after the quarterback. And when you have greedy Williams who you can feel comfortable, just locking somebody down on the outside and get quarterback. I think that's how you can force needs to make mistakes. Put that offense a little bit better physician because that's that's the deal else us not. They're going to try to make sure the office doesn't kill them. And then have the defense hopefully hand. They often savant a good spot. So you flip it around and you know, it's forget the Kentucky game because countless people telling me how good Kentucky was. That's that's the best. It's it's so crazy. 'cause we were looking at the Vegas line on Kentucky AM today and on my radio. We were talking about how how do we, how do we process Kentucky being good? Because it's so strange, but I saw the line. I'm like, wait a second. I watched Kentucky play the last few weeks. They shouldn't be at underdog in this game. I agree with you on that. But big Vegas is a is a reflection of the betting public, not reflect. So what does Vegas? No, that I don't know that. I always wonder that when I see a line like that because half the time they do know something. I don't know. Yeah, but we see enough weird things happen in in college football, I think we've seen it every week with with them. So. Here we are lost Draco where I was. We're talking about Kentucky, I guess, well, we can talk about Florida and Kentucky. You said, you know, throw out the Kentucky. I don't think you can throw out the Kentucky game. I think that's that's Florida playing what looks like Dan came on. Besting ever. Losing to Kentucky Lucic verse thirty, two years now. I mean that's a good way to look at it if you got to look at it way. But I mean it did. I think it did reset expectations here because I think people thought, oh, it's Dan Mullen. He was here when urban Meyer was here. He was here in tin was here. He knows what the formula is. He'll have them back to a national championship level just like that. It's not that easy. They got some work to do on the recruiting show, but I will say the past few weeks, what you've seen them get out of the players they have is pretty impressive. I mean, I had a feeling with sleep a Franks. You know, physically, he's what you wanted animal in quarterback and you. You've seen Dan Mullen kind of just things to fit what flea does well and minimize the things he doesn't do well. And that's, that's good coaching. So the question is, can you do it against a little bit better defense than you've, you've had to deal with the past couple of weeks so that that that is here bounce around a little bit because. Kentucky flying day damage. You said and I wanna believe in Kentucky. I know I feel like Vinny Snell is telling us every week. Idiots believe we're good. Why would we. Believe in AM. I know before I even finish the question, I know what they've done. But yeah, they also look terrible against Arkansas, right? The great for quarter and then three quarters of what was that. And that's the thing about Kentucky that when I look at this game, I say Kentucky has played really well weeks on end and they play consistently and they finished games. Well, it doesn't sound like an at all. No, that sounds like somebody that would be eight him. EDEM is going to be probably more more raw talent than what Kentucky seen the past few weeks. But I don't know that it's raw talent that place particularly well together on the defensive line. I think Kentucky's offense line should be able to to open holes and Benny smells great. But then when you also have to worry about Terry Wilson running the it, it makes bits Michelle that much more dangerous..

"Either they looked in disarray at times in the Arkansas game or maybe Arkansas sneaky as bad team I've ever or maybe they're thinking ahead to Kentucky could be, who would have thought that we'd be saying that Nabi talking about basketball. I mean, it's still certainly team that that's gotta figure out more consistency, consistency on defense. I killing Montas certainly played really, really well, but there's still some spots where you know, we're not sure what he's doing. Maybe he's not even sure you gotta find a consistent running game. So I think JIMBO Fisher's done a really good job of changing the culture with this team. And certainly we saw it against Clemson because the year go, I don't think they're coming back down to it. There's there's a lot of competition for this next answer, but I think I know where you're gonna go, but the most disappointing team in the SEC it seems like Mississippi State would would be resting hand on the flag right now. I think Mississippi State fans would totally agree with that too. And this was this was a school that I said at the beginning of the year wasn't gonna beat Alabama, but could compete against Alabama, could be a team that you see is two or three in the west now the battling for fifth? Yeah. I mean, they go through a string of games and if they lose Auburn mnay, you're talking three straight and that Auburn defense is going to be salty. And this is an Auburn team. Now they're talking about that. It's trying to get. The loser. This game might as well just have a good cry. Except for smiles on if he loses because he's got all that new money. Plead abed. But I do think when you talk to a couple coaches and I talked to some this week in the SEC about Joe Moorhead the fit with the players, the fit with the scheme at the beginning of the year, you know, he said, always an offensive mastermind with the town of Dan Mullen left and he's going to be fine. I mean, Nick, Nick FitzGerald, certainly quarterback who needs to take that next step as a passer, but who better than Joe Moorhead. I mean, when I talked to Nick over the summer, he said, the one thing I love about this offense is I have more chances to take shots down field. He is not worked out as a passer so far figured out a way to stop that run and put all the pressure on his arm. And that's exactly what Florida did. And if you're Auburn, that's the same thing that you need to do with a home loss tomorrow. Schefter Lennon's gonna be vying for that honor to. Yes. And I do think South Carolina. This is still a team. When you talk to people over there, they're still trying to figure out a way to run the ball consistently and stop the run. And that was an issue certainly against Kentucky. And that's going to be an issue that keeps going the season. Now we'll see what they're doing. The quarterback position. This week, but I still kinda saw South Carolina as maybe below Florida dose e. Kentucky. You know, I still thought Tennessee was going to be down there Vanderbilt this year. But to me, it's not necessarily disappointment with their record, but how they've played South Carolina has not been considerable state missives day were the trendy teams of media days. We know how trendy teams trendy trending Trump rock erection. Thank you very much. Great..

"Great people, great administration in every sports winning national championships. That doesn't happen everywhere. It's a special place. It's great to be here in in in terms of what you what you recruit to. We know the history here. It's fantastic. What's happened here? Ten twelve years ago is the stuff of legends. There've been other runs you. You had one two years ago that it was close to being in the record books. You put great teams on the board, but when you bring players here, what. I know you've, you've listened economics, and, but what what else are you trying to win a player over on? Sure. The quality of life here. The people here in that starts with not only our staff does a terrific job, but our current student athletes, you know, when when you've got culture guys, culture guys recruit other culture guys that they like being around brand new facilities. We, as we've talked about with our arena with our with Hawkins center on campus for for student athletes, the history and tradition, of course, I could go on and on. But lastly, I'll circle back to your last question. Paul, we like to sell living-rooms to recruits into parents that if you come the university of Florida, potentially in freshman English, you're going to be sitting behind a future Olympia and maybe in front of a future, all pro cornerback baseball player who's just wanna national championship, so on and so forth. Every program has that that level, that standard of excellence that. It puts that healthy pressure on all of us to be the best that we can be. And for you. Emme you're an intense coach, but but you but every every coach has various sides. When when you're when you're trying to recruit someone, is it? Is it the big things or is it a little things that make the most difference? I think it probably depends on each recruit in each recruit. Any any family I think are try to try to gauge again, this is sales. Yeah. Absolutely. And we've got so much to sell here. Of course. And sometimes it's style play. Sometimes it's playing time. Sometimes it's the long Jeb of the relationship, sometimes facilities or are more peeling to to a family than than others who don't really care about that factor of it. So it all just depends. Finally, your team. It's over seems early, but it's really not done this number years when when you take a look at your team on day one versus the first game versus the winner, when things are percolating, I mean, how much do you know now or you think, you know. Great question. Not not very much. We've got a ways. I know. Not a chance we, we've got the potential to be good, especially offensively. I think with this group, we've got a lot to replace in Chris shows and eager cooling-off. We're not only really good players, but really good leaders and by far too toughest kids, this team lacks right now with with some grimy and toughness and blue collar, work ethic, but a really good group guys, high character kids, high skill level. Hopefully we'll be a little deeper, hopefully more healthy in the front court, and we can put it all together and progress through the year and hopefully our best basketball in February, just wanted to coach always a pleasure to see you. Thank you coach wide for dropping by. And we look forward to talking to you during the season. Absolately. Thanks for having me. It puts it healthy pressure on you that my gosh, it's, it's right here, and we've got a lot to implement offense and defensively. We gotta define some roles. We've got brutal schedule ahead force, but a lot of opportunity we're still trying to joy. College. Football? Yeah. I want to ask you about the schedule because everyone has amped up at schedule, but and I and I'm anxious to hear who who's on this year, but Florida takes no days off when it comes big time opponents in our league. The see as a whole has really improved that scheduling efforts in my opinion, few years and the higher ups have done a terrific job of. Of. Making that a priority for our entire league in all of our programs play the highest level any team anywhere we all have kind of taken on at least that Metallica to a certain extent. I know the Gators always done that Jeremy Foley and Billy Donovan, Scott stricklin has the same alignment. And of course we're all about giving these guys upper to get better day in and day out in our fans deserve it as well. We use it in recruiting and we've got a number of top twenty five preseason teams are scheduled both in the non conference. And of course, when you get to the SEC in the in the preseason, not a preseason real. Who we play in battle Atlantis in the Bahamas, and we'll play three major games over there and hate to leave somebody out. But we open at Florida state and be very difficult. Of course, we've got, we've got Butler and Michigan state at home. We've got West Virginia and Madison Square Garden. We play at TCU. Our schedule is stuff as anyone in college basketball, and then you get the schedule. That's right. That's right. Which in my opinion will be the best league in the country this year. Really? Yeah, absolutely. We saw eight maternal last year. It was. It was a record and so much attention on Greg Sankey has emphasized that we had to Commissioner on yesterday and the attention to detail is there. But before we talk about the Gators talk a little bit about the rest of the league because. I've heard that from others. Eight may not be enough next year. Yeah, I agree. I think that we'll have a potential to to to get nine ten maybe who knows how the numbers will fall, who the computers will like a little bit better than than than so. And so. But I think you've gotta start with with the two league champions from last year, the co-champions in in Tennessee and Auburn, who both return a ton of players. Both teams are excellent. And I think you've always got to have Kentucky conversation. I saw you last week also saw John in usually this time of the year. You get the. We were young. We're not showing he looked. We're going to be really good. How about that? Yeah, and and I believe it and they always are, and those other teams are, and I probably should stop there. But there's another eight or ten that have a chance to be in that whatever fourth to twelve in the league, you know, there's just a, there's a lot of you played in this league and you know the league so well, and obviously you're associated through family with some of the best around college basketball, but. Just from when you were a player too. Now, I'm curious as you've watched this legal, what what's what's happened in in? Why? Why gotten so good..

"You're gonna go to the game. I was thinking about it. The problem is like, can I fly you into go with me because I don't have anybody to go to go. I have not been to a few Yankees. Red Sox have not been to one in a while. There's there's not much better than that, and I think maybe some football fans get mad at me, but postseason baseball is one of my favorite things. And specifically when it's Yankees, Red Sox, we just don't get a treat like this that often powers early. Okay, pulse. Coming with me now we'll we'll let Linda. No, and we'll let John it'll be good. Bring Lynn say this. It's a long date or nine years, but my last trip to Yankee Stadium, it was, it was it was it was away the last year of the old stadium that's been ten years. Yeah, it's been ten years. Exactly. Tenure up there speaking at Columbia University. And drop death. I was actually being given our show was a recipient of an award from Columbia, your university, the masters program to of communication and journalism. We were honored for some program we had done and. Friend of mine used to be the president of the Yankees actually former Commissioner of the harbor show. So he he called me new. I was coming up. He said, what do you? What would you like to do? You want go show. I said I haven't been the key stadium in years done. I forgotten. He had been the president the Yankees at one time. We hadn't Steiner FOX, goodness. That was that was one of the most that wasn't even a humble brag story mill. So that was just a brand I was on. I was on the phone. I called my wife and all of a sudden Dr shoulder who got to know him as a retired. Air force general. And he just walked up to hang up. Sorry. You know, under the Commissioner, you can't tell me tell me what to do and I hung up and he introduced me to Reggie Jackson, spent the next two hours talking to Mr. Tober I tell you what if I, when I, the point of the story mazing when I come back in my next life, I'm coming back as you. Okay. And there it was. It was a Thursday night. They're playing the Tigers. It was rain. It was like nobody was at the game. Nobody cared about and Reggie had no one else to talk to. I literally sat for two hours and you know, obviously a lot more majorly, but I've never been more riveted by he. He went back and told me when he played in Birmingham in the minor leagues in the late sixties about the the struggles, he talked about getting to know bear Bryant. It was fascinating anyone through all the players that he loved and hated. Okay. That's probably even work out. We paid pointed down to dairy jeeter and that the the captain is one of the most high class people I've ever been around in any pointed to Alex Rodriguez and said, the. Zac office. Djalo doesn't think so. So next week on, we'll be talking about baseball and j. lo in a rod and whatever else. But we will be at Auburn for the Auburn, Tennessee game. That's to be interesting. I was wondering when we get to Auburn this year and we're finally getting to Auburn. It could be a very interesting game Tennessee is off this week. Yep, Auburn, Mississippi State. So the Tigers will either be coming into that game on a big high or. Yeah. Well, you know, and, and at this point for Mississippi State desperation level in a way. I think in a big way. I mean, I had such high expectations for Mississippi State high expectations for Auburn to, but Auburn certainly has looked better recently than Mississippi State has I to me, I wonder if they need to make a quarterback change. I'm sure people have talked about that on your show this week, but I feel for Nick FitzGerald because he obviously of injury, you were the nutty got hurt. I think it could factor in and and it's sad because I can't tell if it's a matter of not fully healthy. I think he's healthy. They wouldn't have cleared him to play. You know, he wouldn't be back if he wasn't. I wonder if it's mental a little bit. I don't know..

"Are you ready? I think I've got. I'm kinda permanent radius perma radius. It's so good to see you. Thank you. Welcome to Gainesville. Great place. Lots of humidity here and a really big football game happening. I say we, I mean, last week was an aberration because it was cool, but I'm quite happy with the weather in Gainesville. Here's Paul loves to sort of roast out in places. He does not like the cold. So we've been on a stretch of quite warm place, but you know, one thing I was thinking about it's actually I was in Houston last night and it was so hot there. The lot players were dealing with cramps, and even at this point in the season, that can be a thing. It's going to be so hot in this LSU Florida game tomorrow. I do think that's going to be a factor in the game. I don't like to always say that that weather's gonna factor. I actually see the heat being affected tomorrow. Well, listen, you travel everywhere. In the SEC you've went to school here. Can you find two more humid places now that ruse and. Ville means that both sets of players are prepared for the heat that he's still you can think you're hydrated. You can think that you've done everything that you need to do. Coaches can think that the players are ready to go and you still can have cramping and have that be an issue. I hope tomorrow depending on the outcome of the game that the students show up going. Well, I mean, we don't need Dan Mullen to go, Nick, save on people, and they will. They'll be there tomorrow. I think so too. It's sold out for one of the first times in a while. It's crazy. I was actually a stat today. I guess it was actually twenty fifteen against ole miss the last time when there was a cell up for an SEC game year. I, that's the prize me. I thought that it least would be close to release. They would be fudging it. You know how sometimes they say it sold out and it's not quite sold out, but I don't. About cards administrator, right? But anyway, I do think that this, the crowd and the heat plays a factor tomorrow. Yeah, it was which team, but anyway, you say you were in Houston last night you, you're on the usual run. I know I say it every week. Yeah, you know that Hughes. No. You were really dialed into that lip it on for a second. Yeah, it was actually a good game who aren't Houston one in he's lying. Up collie actually, I watch every single thing that Paul does on television, and Paul lives to me and says that he watches me by put it on, and I are you in a second. And then I was watching an NFL game baseball game. It was. It was a lot going on last night about your Yankees by well, surely disappointed because I was planning on going to the Yankees game Wednesday night. Yeah, the playoff game. And then I had, rather I'm not going to bore the audience because you travel every day. But I had a rather unfortunate delay going into New York Tuesday night. So I didn't go because I I needed to get back and go to sleep. Well, sleep isn't even before exactly. Yeah. No, that's bad. No. And now I'm, I'm going back to St. night and and you're gonna miss unless goes into extra innings. Hey, can you imagine Paul like an extra innings running into Yankee Stadium, stop. Let me watch this game. Yeah, they way so Houston up scoring late in the end up winning it, but it was for a while. They're kinda of like, maybe they're gonna have huge upset Tulsa. That's a problem, Arkansas place. Tulsa later near what Tolson is not a bad team and they actually played a freshman quarterback last night as kids. Seth boomer who would never played before, and he was pretty good being a freshman. He could at least throw it better than they've had otherwise. So you're going to be there Monday night..

"The talent on offense for Auburn is at receiver and quarterback utilized that first and then try to develop maybe a little bit of a run game behind that, and they might be able to find some success for Mississippi State have to find some consistency through the passing game. They have not been able to do it the past few weeks. Therefore, the run game is disappeared. And Auburn, it's too good up front, especially out wide. Now that Florida group has the best group of defenders. Believe in college football with Zuniga CC Jefferson plight. I don't know if auburn's as good off the edge, but if they get third, third and ten, third and twelve like they did against Florida. Auburn does half enough with Nick co and big kept Brian to be able to rip it off the ads and give those tackles even more problems and make it another long day for Nick FitzGerald co, if state loses his game. I mean they're already struggling where where do they go? I mean. Season to me would seem like it's almost completely imploded, especially when you look at what lies ahead. They still have to play LSU. They have to play Alabama. They still have to play ole miss, which is one of the big rivalry games in this conference. A lot of head scratching soul-searching and a half to happen Paul, if they were to drop this football game, that's why I think it may be bigger for Mississippi State than Auburn. You look at what lies ahead. Yes. Allburn has more in front of them that they're capable of winning potentially still an SEC west championship college football, playoff. You mentioned it auburn's a top ten football team. There are a lot of opportunities left on their schedule, but if Mississippi State drops this one, it's gonna be very difficult to look at some of the games down the road as opportunity games. Most people are gonna look at those games flat out that state cannot go win. I think it makes that game gigantic for the Mississippi State BULLDOGS. And honestly, I don't know where they go. If they dropped this game, you might see some serious personnel changes the following week by Joe Moorhead couple of other games only get a quick opinion on we. We have a quarterback change for South Carolina. Line Missouri coming in there with some momentum's. What about that? Well, the interesting part of that that game, I South Carolina and get the run game going. They completely belt on it in the first half of Georgia game. The only time they really got a consistent, rushing attack going against Kentucky last week was when they lined up both tackles out on the numbers had essentially three offense lineman in the middle of the field. It's of trick Kentucky a little bit and got a little bit of a run game going there. But consistency in that aspect of their offense has just not been there, and it's a pretty big step down, not having Jake Billy as the triggerman in that game cock-up. However, South Carolina has given up one three passing touchdowns this season tied for best in the SEC. They don't give up a lot of explosive plays if they forced Missouri to work their way down the field, consecutively is Missouri going to be okay with that? Are they going to be? Are they going to settle for just first downs and not having that chunk yards that they're used to? If so, I think Missouri will be fine in that game against the Gamecocks. Let's get to the game you're at and. Certainly Vanderbilt has been a disappointment, but that's not a new story. But what about Georgia Cohen? It'd be what have you been able to learn because Georgia's still ranked number two in the country, but there's some anxious people, especially with a trip next week to Baton Rouge at such an interesting game, and I don't wanna look, pass this one, but keep in mind. Paul, those players haven't been to LSU. They played. They don't know what that's like, and it is a completely different animal. They don't know the personnel as well. So it will be very different type game, but Georgia's still trying to find it self in certain areas. The offense of line has not been as dominant as we thought it would be..

"I mean, it was turning throw, turn, throw, ternan, throw for Philippi Franks. And then obviously you get a little bit of a trick. Play results in touchdown pass. I don't know if they can make a living against this LSU defense because grant Delpit and company from that secondary come up and play aggressive and tackle extremely well. And with the way the Florida offensive line has played great football LSU should be able to win against the run game with fewer numbers. That gives them an advantage on the back end. So Dan moment and company have to find a way to generate a little bit more of a run game, be more balanced on offense. We had Florida earlier this year Charleston, southern. They got away from the run game in that contest. So there. Going to have to be more balanced against a very, very good LSU defense who has elite players at every level for LSU. I think it's continued to do what you do. Try to play physical brand of football, offensively protect Joe borough. Go six, seven, eight man protections run the football try to go north and south. The way the Florida defense had success. Last week, Paul was movement. They slanted their defensive linemen, they blitz. They moved those guys around the Mississippi State, offensive line could not keep up with that movement. If they tried that again with some of the gap scheme runs blocking back and pulling around the LSU likes to do that. Could turn to explosive plays for the Tigers. They'll run Joe borough del, protect him with six, seven, even eight players at times. They're going to try to make his life easy and a very similar plan for LSU in this game against Florida. A lot of big games tomorrow. We talked a lot last week co as we were in starkville about Mississippi State and what is going on there. It's pretty obvious. There are problem. They host Auburn, another team that. Hi, hi record. Good good rating. Good ranking, but not a lot of enthusiasm. What's going on to start starkville tomorrow night? I think I think your guess is good as Paul. I don't know what to expect from that football game. Mississippi states in home. Auburn has a quarterback that's played a little bit better than Mississippi state's quarterback. Auburn has a defense that's outperform Mississippi stays defense slim margin, but Auburn is one of the best defense is in college football. They've got one rushing touchdown. This season five total scores. This season five total touchdowns and they're the best in the nation at points per drive. So I think the better defense and the more capable quarterback helps Auburn find a way to win. But I don't really know how either team is going to generate a ton of offense. Auburn has to go back to the drawing board Paul, they have to find a way to sort of reinvent who they're going to be initially on offense and how they're going to build around that because they can't be downhill run team. They don't have the dominant back to be able to do it. The authentic line. Has not performed well enough for them to be able to do it. And now I think that has jeered stood him a little bit law seeing ghosts at times missing some reads and not playing to his capabilities..

"When the great robbery games in the country. Yeah, tremendous atmosphere here, the Texas, Dave fair. I tell you what you got to come check without because the way they do the stadium when they split it. Fifty fifty is unlike anything I've ever seen in college football. It's the fun atmosphere. But these two teams that they what tomorrow afternoon, you know they're gonna get after. No, you right now, the hot team with Kyle of Murray's playing high level. He's a mentioned in all the Heisman conversations and obviously come into the season. The big question Mark is gonna feel Baker Mayfield shoes. His kid just wanted to Heisman just a number one draft pick and NFL draft or the Cleveland Browns, how you going to feel those shoes. I think Kyla Murray so far as an admirable job, completing seventy percent of his passes. Sixteen seventeen touchdown throws just to in assessing, but even more important. Just the way you handled themselves. He's a hell of a competitor. The guys on the. Team, they absolutely love him. He's waited his his his way to this moment, his chance and he's taking full of of it. And he's just such a dynamic and explosive player with the ball in the hands, especially out in space is like he's planning at another level, very loose of and he has his office roll. But the thing about it, Paul always though this game and his core, the physical game is all about the physicality and ever since the second half of that USC game. I think Texas, they really found their deep and they've really been playing great football and defend this out of the plan well offensively to, but just such a physical brand football defensively. So see that these things and how they going to try to contain Kyle marine such an explosive office will Hollywood Brown. Those guys is going to be, you know, some some fun to watch tomorrow does Howard Desmond, let let me switch gears. We're, we're in Gainesville this afternoon and certainly. A major Amy of LSU hosting Georgia next week, but they have to get out of the swamp. I impressed first of all by LSU. No, no, not at all of. I'm just saying they're not press Alabama's. Impressive. LSU was okay. I mean, they, they want game. They've looked good doing it. They haven't looked, you know, in my opinion rate, but you know, they're handling their business and that's that's the bottom line. But no, I'm not pressed by them. I think they're going to be challenged by Florida. I think Florida in the swamp is going to rise to the Cajun. You know, they, they have a, they got a lot of pride physically, I think they're going to try to stop the run. I four both Joe borough can be arm. So I think this will be really an interesting game for LSU coming into the swamp. Talking Desmond Howard there. There are a lot of big games tomorrow, certainly in the SEC couple of look like mismatches, of course, Alabama, but one game, I wanna go back outside the SEC for a second here in get your thought on on what maybe the the most critically important game from the playoff standpoint. Other than Texas in that's for Jinya tech team that looked terrible if you weeks ago but has come back a little bit hosting Notre Dame or you people are sold on Notre Dame. Are you. Not quite tomorrow is going to be the big test for them on the road in Blacksburg against Virginia Tech, a team that you know, obviously. Banding. They screwed up two weeks ago being, but they back last week Duke and you still got respect for for that. That ball club. I think that with n. book becoming the starter, that's probably one of the smartest moves that brand Kelly is done so far. It's probably actually going to save the I in season. I saw them under Brandon wimbush losing at a minimum two games this year. So with book though they went tomorrow, I think they'll be favored in all the games. Moving forward that saying that there's, you know, there's gonna be a tough game against daisy. I think at the end of the season on the road against the USC Trojans, I think that's going to be a challenge to be a team that's getting better and more competent with their freshman quarterback. JT, dang. But with that being said, tomorrow night's game is going to be a match between chess match between brand Kelly. Now he's gonna use him both. Don't forget now with wimbush thought the the office, you know, they were just Cana handcuff..

"He was looking at me like, why are you Mosul crying right now? And I was like, I do anything to be great in her. We sat down and had a long talk after that, and you remember that office and you know, moments like that where you really, you know, you learn so much and people talk about just in the game because that's what they get to see, but it's behind the scenes and those moments when you you talk or sit there and I'll say, but coach Mullen y teach show me this. I don't get it or and then show you, you learn it and you work through and you work through your struggles or the good things, the bad things, things that come easy, you know practice. It'd be so many times where like go just gimme the ball and I'll get it done and you'd have to train me. No, you can't just will everything sometimes just trust me and trust the process and this. And so it was so much of being. Getting outside of my comfort zone. That's something that goes Molin did a great job of push me to places I wasn't comfortable in. So in the game, I was comfortable and whatever situation we were put in that fair to say, yeah, we had a lot of fun. Yeah, one of the things you do see people don't realize you know to in meetings, we'd have a lot of fun beyond football. Now, you know, you sit there on a Friday. You know. We'd sit in the quarterback meeting and urban would quarterback meetings start when special teams meetings with start. Right? And. No, that that forty five minutes special teams meetings. That's an hour and twenty. It might go along. We'll sit in there and all of a sudden like, okay, I'm like, all right. A meeting like no special teams just ended. We're going to start the meeting now for the offense. And we have so much. You'd have a lot of time to get. And we've been time talking football, non-football life everything and I learned, I hope you know to me one of the things take great pride in his coach coach that you have a positive impact on your players on young people's lives. You know? And I hope that what I was able to do is have a positive impact on Tim's life and help them chief goals that he wanted to achieve in his life. Because I know also on the non football side thing, he had an unbelievable positive impact on my life on helping may become the man and the father and the husband that I try to live up to and the coach up every day, Tim, no, in coach news, it's never about you, but tomorrow I know it's important your family here. And I've talked to your dad about it, but is there any way to put into words what that this day is going to mean to all the bows and all of your friends and family? I think it means a lot. It means a lot because it's, I think it's honored to my parents as much as me to my grandparents to all of the people that have invested all the coaches who have loved me a care about me all the players, Percy Louis Murphy field Trautwein all of the guys that we played with and everyone's invested in that, but more than any award or recognition, tomorrow's about Florida, trying to beat LSU. He got that right. We'll say this, you know, I mean, I don't think I know with him knowing who he is, his name being on on the ring of honor's really special deal. But after that ceremony, I don't think is intensity on the sidelines going to completely change on winning the game. And we're recognizing the two thousand eight national championship team tomorrow in every one of those guys that are on the sideline, the intensity about winning the game. I know they're competitor's. They're going to want that just as bad as anything else not to put any more pressure. No. Win coach to to help you in. We're going to get you out of here. "But it was also the atmosphere was also the student body, and I'm gonna tell you what the biggest thing. The first thing I did was went to all the students around campus because they set the tempo, the student body sets the atmosphere of everybody else. If the students are they're on their feet, early going crazy jumping up and down creating crowd noise and excitement. Everybody else in the gator nation is going to feed off of the student body, the energy and the excitement that happen. I love y'all too. But that is what it's going to be like, and that's the atmosphere. Won't do our team. We gotta go out there and perform on Saturday too key to capture and create and keep that environment under this tomorrow about LSU. But it's also about Tim tebow. Yeah. And like to ask you and then if you don't mind jamming and talk a little bit about what this honor means to this university and it stands? Well, I think when you look at what Tim is did Walli was here. Then what he's done since. I mean, he's. Transcendent per sending person. I mean, not just an athlete. I mean his his work that he does around the world is special. You know what's crazy is, and I got to live part here at him even I got to walk out with with with yes and I'm looking, I'm like, where's TIMMY? Okay. Get him off the practice. When I showed up that was used to doing it that you don't see college players that were, you know, one name athletes while they're playing college football around the world and one of those famous athletes in the world. And then he's used that stage as an athlete, both in, you know, I think one of the most underrated things he's ever done is play pro baseball. You know, because I don't think anybody realizes how hard that is, you know, playing quarterback and playing football and making it to the NFL. That's pretty special. But you know, that's what his focus was in his intensity and he just gonna. He's gonna will things to happen. What made him so special, but it's really the outside stuff that makes him special person. You know, I think he, he teaches lessons to people around the world. Anybody. Has anything to do with them leaves a better person. Anytime you have contact with them, you leave a better person and the effect he has on people around the world is just special and I'm proud of him..

"Nicotine is an addictive chemical. The pride passion, then pageantry of college football leaves here. This is the Paul finebaum show best of podcast. We've made it to Gainesville on a pretty nice early fall day, which means it summer anywhere else, Florida field. And tomorrow. Arguably the most famous player in gator history, Tim tebow will be honored into the ring of honor will be with him earlier and just a few minutes. But a lot of excitement, a lot of buzz on this campus. Amazing what a big win on the road. We'll do four weeks ago. People were wondering about the future of media future this program. Not anymore. Dan Mullen going into starkville last week, a huge win where Molin clearly outcoached his successor and everybody here is fired up. This is a big time robbery game. I think we've learned how to win games in different ways. You know, we won, but in high scoring game where we created a lot of turnovers in a lot of big, explosive plays the next. We wanted into hostile road environment and found a way to to grind it out and play great defense and flip field position and play ball control game. So I think the guys are learning. There's there's not just one way to win a game that a lot of ways that the team can come together to win games and we need to continue to do that as the season progresses Gators is is, is this actually true? The Gators expect a sell out for the first time in three years. Thank you. Jim mcelwain. In nearly buried this program, but things are going well. The show begins now.
