Man who shot Lady Gaga's dog walker gets 21 years in prison
"The man who shot singer Lady Gaga's dog walker has been sentenced to 21 years in prison, and marches are a letter with the latest. The Los Angeles district attorney's office says James Howard Jackson had pleaded no contest last year to attempted murder in a violent robbery in February 2021. Prosecutors say Jackson was part of a group driving around Los Angeles looking for valuable French bulldogs to steal. Authorities say they shot Ryan Fisher and stole the dogs he was walking, which coincidentally belonged to Lady Gaga. The dogs were returned by a woman who was also charged in the crime.

"What brought you to write the book and what are you trying to communicate in? Well, you're on judiciary, ranking members. So you know all about how we weaponize the bottles of the bureaucracy. And that hit me between the eyes in the 115th. I started thinking about this. And then just the craziness that was happening with the Trump, starting with the inauguration, and you were talking about people protesting. I had protesters on my front lawn. You and I were being demagogue over the American healthcare act, which was a good piece of legislation. And I thought, this is getting out of control. And I'm afraid that if you let the left right history, you're never going to learn from. And that's what was happening already with CNN going after every Republican and it was getting out of hand. But I think the epiphany for me was, you know, if you're not on the intelligence committee, you don't get to see the Intel until they say, okay, members can come over and view this. And it was when we did that and trudged over to the capitol visitor center and looked at this stuff and all I remember Doug is sitting there going, is this all there is. Is this? And we were consumed for two years. It was thwarting our ability to move legislation. The media were Gaga over this line. Just absolute line. Trump is going to be indicted tomorrow. He's a Russian asset. Now there was a Trump Tower meeting. All of which proved to be a lie. And I thought, okay, I'm going to start taking a journal. And so I started writing a journal. And what happened was that started to continue through three campaign cycles, 16, 18, and 20. Well, then 20 came around, I'm the Senate nominee, and we are locked down except for a rioters in Minneapolis. The third precinct was broke was burnt to the ground, talking about destroying government property, right? And it was so orwellian, I continued with these journals, and so now, in 2021, at this all these journals and you know what it's like to write a book, you got to put it in readable fashion. So I found a cabin in the Minnesota northwoods and for a year and a half, I just hunkered down and wrote basically a history of how we got to the point where we'd weaponize the government on behalf of one party.

One thing Sarah and I both noted though was that they call out the fact that it's a medium coverage foundation, which I think is not necessarily something that brands boast about in the name of their product, you know? It's either like full coverage or light coverage. It's never that medium, which is interesting because I personally like to find like a medium coverage. Same, I want a medium coverage foundation and I would agree it's a medium coverage foundation. I will say, though, for me personally, it has like a dewy finish. It's not like super glossy, so you get this luminescence. It's like Demi matte, I would say. Like it has a little bit of a luminescence to it, but it's not super dewy or glossy. But I do think this particular foundation looks better on me when I powder it. Now they did launch a powder in a powder brush, but I did not receive that. I think it looks better on me personally. When I set it with the powder, because not just so that it doesn't move on the face, but because I feel like this product does kind of accentuate my pores in the areas where my pores are most prominent. That's one thing I noticed when I was doing my application. And it wasn't anything that made me bothered. I wasn't like, oh my God, this looks like my pores are huge, but I did notice that when I went in and powdered it down a little bit and set it, it looks incredible.

But let's back up just a bit. In 2019, house laboratories, the Gaga affiliated makeup line, was born and went straight to Amazon. Yes, Amazon, which might not be what comes to mind when you think of high end beauty retailers. And indeed, many in the beauty industry were puzzled by the move to Amazon, which was a first for a high end beauty brand. At the time, Lady Gaga told business of fashion that Amazon was the only retailer that would give her free reign to build her brand around confidence and self acceptance, according to Business Insider. But as venture capitalist Megan bent wrote in beauty independent quote, Amazon is a great place to scale a business not to start one. See Amazon's average consumer is price sensitive and prone to replenishment bent explained, which meant they were less likely to discover new brands on the platform and more likely to keep buying what they'd already been buying. As you can imagine, the move to Amazon largely backfired. Despite the massive numbers Amazon did during the pandemic, house laboratories sales stalled. Hovering around the $30 million mark. And internally, the company was struggling to retain employees who noted a mass exodus of workers in early 2021. Fast forward to today, the brand is shaking off its rough start and putting its best face forward. It has a new shorter name, house labs, and will be debuting in Sephora this month, leaving Amazon behind for good, or at least for now. Its new brand positioning is clean artistry, high performance, highly pigmented makeup products, according to Business Insider. This entrance into Sephora puts them squarely in another pop star's makeup territory, Rihanna. We told you earlier this year about the pop mavens Fenty brand branching out from its original home in Sephora to the chain's arch rival Ulta, is doing quite well in both chains, thank you very much. But the addition of another pop star's makeup may make those Sephora aisles a bit crowded, no. So she claims that when she released her album, it was called superficial in 2010, Lady Gaga had not yet exploded. And she said, people are like I love Lady Gaga and she said, I'm sure they do, but I hadn't encountered with her that wasn't really that nice. She went on to explain that the relationship soured when Gaga was an up and coming songwriter and the two of them were working with the same mega producer together. His name is red one. Actually. Read what he mean he's made a major major. I remember him talking to Us Weekly about Heidi Montag and he was really, really complimentary. He said she's got star quality and is at that time where she could have exploded. It didn't happen, but she couldn't become a pop star and the fact he was working with her was really curious to me. So she went on to say that red one and Gaga were writing partners and he needed to get her permission for Heidi to record her song fashion because Lady Gaga wrote it. So Lady Gaga said, okay, sure, great. She can have that song. Then hide his claiming. When the song fashion got put into a movie, it got into the movie, confessions of a shopper harlech, Lady Gaga then decided you know what? I'm gonna take that song back and release it by myself..

"Was going to be an album of songs by Cole Porter You're the top You're the Louvre museum So last year Tony Ben announced he's been living with Alzheimer's How did that affect the making of the album Well his team had to operate with great sensitivity to his condition But he was diagnosed back in 2016 so you know this wasn't a sudden thing What's really remarkable here is the way that he snaps into focus when he's singing I recently spoke with his wife and caregiver Susan Benedetto who says he's still sings at home with a pianist a couple times a week sort of like a workout And whatever fog exists around his everyday life it seems to dispel when the music starts Susan said this was even true at his farewell concert with Gaga at Radio City Music Hall for his birthday a couple months ago It was the last situation in which Tony could still be Tony And have a true understanding of who he is and this is what I do and this is what I'm supposed to be doing And I can connect with my audience In that moment he understood exactly what was going on Now prior to singing and then when he gets off stage he would not necessarily know where he was or why he was there And you couldn't even tell you if he's saying or not But in that moment you can just tell the mannerisms and the music everything just comes right back You know I've heard that about other people for whom music was central to their lives when they get in that space then a clarity can exist in it's a beautiful thing It's beautiful It's I think it's sort of a miracle you know And it's so poetic in the sense that Tony Bennett has given so much of himself to this music over the course of his recording career which stretches you know 70 years And I think it's fair to say that at this point the music is giving back So knowing that this is most likely his final recorded statement it's both beautiful and bittersweet And when I ask Lady Gaga about that this is what she had to say When I think about timing in his last album I have nothing but reverence love and respect for him I think I may always cry about this I don't think it will ever go away And I don't know that I wanted to I think that pain lives were pain belongs And Tony as always inspired me to use it So I'm going to keep using this magic in my life and just share with you that even when hard things happen You can.
