"The info coming from TV guides Matt Roush Good morning Matt you're starting with a musical special that could be very touching for viewers Yeah I think so If you saw the 60 minutes piece a while back about Tony Bennett it was quite remarkable that 95 he's living with Alzheimer's and he pretty much is in a fog But when you gear up the music the music the standards that he has sung all of his life all of a sudden he's back to being Tony Bennett and he can sing he can remember the lyrics and it's quite amazing And so he paired up with his favorite recent partner lady caga for one last farewell concert taped at this summer at Radio City Music Hall to sold out shows and on Sunday Night on CBS one last time with Tony Bennett Lady Gaga will air And I think it's going to be quite special This really is his farewell concert but apparently he really wowed the crowd and to hear him sing things like I left my heart in San Francisco Well I think all of Tony Ben's fans will leave their heart on the table watching this show on Sunday Night I think it's going to be something you don't want to miss Yeah it's such a remarkable story Okay now how about something from the TV nostalgia file Okay well also on Sunday The CW network is rebooting one of the classics from the 70s It's the waltons with the waltons homecoming it's the 50th anniversary of the movie called the homecoming a Christmas story which was a CBS movie in 1971 in December that later in 72 launched the waltons which was the series about the depression era family who through hard work and love it all together large family Richard Thomas who was the original John boy the oldest son he's back as narrator of this film and he's on camera but he's not one of the waltons And one of the twists for this film is that there was 7 kids in the original series They've reduced it to 6 I guess one less depression mouth to feed They wanted to spread the material around I guess the more zip the characters and not have too many But it's like to me it's the Jan Brady middle child center for poor Ben is missing from the waltons and never mentioned at all So even though dad will come home for Christmas he'll have one less kid welcoming there Oh dear Well finally if you've been watching any TV it's really hard to miss the ads for any live Oh yeah It was all over the maze parade as well So on the NBC for sure But yeah so we're back to live musicals which is a tradition that NBC started quite a while back and now we're going to get Annie done live on Thursday night on NBC with some really fun casting I think that casting the empire diva Taraji P. Henson as miss Hanks sounds like a lot of fun It takes them getting used to looking at Harry connick junior with a bald cap on playing Danny warbucks And then we have as always there's a discovery The new Annie her name is Selena Smith I'm sure she's not the first black Annie that has been performing the role But in terms of a mainstream production like this it's a nicely diverse cast also Titus Burgess is in it and lots of others But if you're a fan of the musicals again looking for things for the family to watch it together That's what this time of year is all about And I'm sure that Annie leibel would fit that bill Okay thank you Matt You got it TV guides Matt Roush 1114 When buying and selling a home there is no need to stress.

"Old when she was raped and beaten by a stranger in a park This is what I remember Sepals reading from the audiobook of her harrowing 1999 memoir lucky He said these words I'll kill you if you scream I remain motionless Do you understand if you scream you're dead 5 months after her attack sebold then a Syracuse university freshman spotted Anthony broadwater on the street and called the police saying she'd seen her assailant She first picked the man sending next to him at a police lineup but later identified broadwater as her rapist in court Redwater always maintained his innocence his conviction was based on two pieces of evidence said identification and a now discredited method of forensic hair analysis This should never happen In court this week Now onoda Gaga county district attorney apologized saint junk science was used to convict broadwater along with a single identification Dan Myers is a former police officer with the county Identifying people is difficult The mind does some funny things but I'm sure that her description of what happened is accurate Myers says the reason why this case got reexamined is largely because of a plant movie adaptation of Alyssa boltz memoir The executive producer became convinced while working on the script that there were issues with the story Not with sable to salt which was real and horrific but who got convicted for the crime The producer was skeptical enough to leave the film Timothy mutant used his own money to hire Dan Meyers now a private investigator to research broadwater's case It was obvious to me if something was off because he had no other criminal history He basically got picked up off the street and thrown in the prison for this Broadwater was released in 1998 And he still hadn't re offended which I thought was strange for such a horrible crime He's always maintained his innocence and everything he went through He said so many opportunities to just confess to it and his prison sentence would have been a lot shorter He told me he had taken a polygraph on his own and passed it Anthony broadwater spent whatever money he had of the past two decades trying to clear his name But after his exoneration he told reporters that time he'll never get back and one of his heartbreaks brought what are added was disappointing his.

"Got Lady Gaga in dark hair looking brooding That sounded so sweet And at one point in the trailer for the movie she makes a sign of the cross and she says father Son And House of Gucci One other funny quote from this interview she gave to British vogue She was talking about and I don't know how it came up She mentioned the capital insurrection She was talking about how she would have been a journalist in another life And she said quote I would have been a combat journalist That was one of my dreams When I was at the capitol the day before the inauguration I remember walking around and looking for evidence of the insurrection Wow Imagine Lady Gaga on the case trying to prosecute the insurrectionists I would watch that movie That's right She's single She's serious and genuine about it Yeah Keep shining Gaga All right Joe you got that point but here's the next question You can easily catch up Nikki Here's the quote You can shove your climate crisis up your arse Who said that Nikki It sounds like a pumpkin headed monster I think I know you're talking about And I'm going to go ahead and say it's not him It is though perhaps the most prominent climate activist right now who would that be Could we go with Greta We can go with Greta We can go with Greta Greta is the answer That quote came from Greta Thunberg She is the very young climate activist She's now 18 but this week she gave a speech outside of the COP 26 UN climate summit in.

The Miracle Balm From Jones Road Is This Summer's Best Makeup

"To my surprise and delight the jones road. Instagram people reached out to me. And said hey kirby we would love to send you like a care package of jones road products. My god they reached out to me too and i did not respond. Sell me on it. I was like jumping for joy. I was literally about ashikari. And just by it myself. Because i think the hero product out of all of it is this product called the miracle bomb. They sent me a kit so right now on the website. They have a kit like a summer. Kit were. There's like four or five products put together for you in smaller packaging so you can kind of get a taste alive that thing without having to like fully die then you know. That's like one of the things. I think i miss about beauty counters and from like the os in the nineties is like shopping at clinic and then they gave you like a little sampler travel bag gift with purchase. I loved those. Yes yes so this miracle bomb. This is the all natural shade. It's point three. Oh ounces okay. So compared to the one point seven six ounce that like is the big mama. It's a little bit smaller. But it's so much product in a tiny little jar and i was so excited to get on my face. So what does the miracle bomb. It is the secret of no makeup makeup. Bobby likes to say it's a wash of soft focus moisture to perfect it enhance the skin so this is a true bomb when you put it on your skin like on your cheek or on your nose. It has more of a matte. Finish matt but it's more soft focus. It's not super do we or shiny like some people may expect from a ball guests. It is a true bomb. And i love the soft focus. Because what does that mean. It means your pores you're gonna look less prominent sometimes with highlighter. When you put it on the bridge of your nose or for me especially. It's like hello pours. Yeah out in about with this. You take a little bit with If you have a spatula or like the end of your your makeup brush you take it out of the jar and warming up in your hands and then kinda dab it on your

It's crazy running to replace you personally time. This show has changed my life. You know it's hard to go out in public without being recognized for this show. It's happened once in an airport. We also have to talk about how lady gaga manages to walk in these crazy high heels. She was brought out in new york city wearing nine age length from heels without even a wobble or looking down. Okay before i ask you the hard hitting question we have. I think about this honestly. Probably every two and a half weeks because randomly. i will always see photo her and the shoes. I genuinely do not know how she is capable of doing. I'm not talking lubaton. Every day. i but the times and walk in them like they are sneakers. I do and that has taken me literally a lot of years to practice that but these these are great. You could be paralyzed from the shoes. I've never seen lady gaga not in those. I'm starting to think that that's the shape of her foot. Wrong governor credit it gives down in the front like that lady gaga does not have show. She has like these are house. I imagined she walks around the clean and swiffer is in the i. Actually that is probably exactly how she's ever this is. This is how i know..

"You like i are a connoisseur of music docks i imagine. How many do you think you've watched in your lifetime. Let's say let's try and put a number on this showy might be a hundred. Yeah that's that's aspirational. But i'd say anywhere seventy to a hundred feels like the sweet spot. I don't know what that says. If that's a good thing is that as good thing sean. It's chilling robbing. It's definitely yelling. It's concern you. And i've spent a lot a lot a lot of time in our lives. Digging it in your hand of music musicians musical genres the history of the form. The feuds the fights the love and it's an interesting kind of a subcategory. Why do you think music in particular has been so ripe for the documentary form especially nowadays. It feels like we're getting a new one every week including some that. The ringer ourselves are producing. It is true that the star documentary is a necessary function of a rollout. You know taylor swift if you count like a netflix concert movie. That she did. She's put out three movies like three feature length movies in like three or four years. It's just you have to do it now. You know you got the billy. Irish one It's lady gaga katy. Perry beyond says down a couple. It's just it's a natural part. I think it all goes back to two behind the music to vh one's behind the music arc the rise and fall arc like we love to watch rosters become rockstars. We loved a lot watch rockstars crash and burn you know and reliably. We get both ends of that in your typical rock documentary. Well let me psychoanalyze you a little bit. Why do we that. Why do we wanna see. These majestic figures of popular. Music hit their peaks and then crashed so painfully right. It's it's a celebrity worship thing. I think ultimately we love to build people up and we love to watch them break down if not break them down ourselves. We're sort of seeing this arc with britney spears right now which is a very moving target is a news story. But it's just

"She distrusted me to do it. But this time she did have an opinion. And i was like how do you want to look. And she goes out and to look weird. I don't look whatever i want to look like. I could have been in. Destiny's child or i'm a beyond saved. Backup dancer i here. I know how to do that right. And so after. I'd done a destiny's child so much and the glamour. I love that video of her. I think it's one of the most glamorous just with the wind in her hair blowing whatever it was. You know that's all hype williams. Brilliant things to it was just a fabulous thing and really if you guys have not seen the making of you have to google the making of or behind the scenes video power. "Show lady. Gaga did something extraordinary. She performed a song that had become the unofficial anthem of the LGBTQ community. Those lyrics resonated with many of lady Gaga fans NPR's Lynn neary looks at the origins of born this way and its legacy in this encore presentation of our American anthem series, Tim, Cox understands the excitement that lady Gaga can generate when she performs live now twenty six he's been one of her devoted fans a little monster as she calls them since he was fifteen the first time he saw Gaga seeing born this way in concert. He was overwhelmed. I broke down. I was hysterical with joy with emotion. Just completely lost myself in the song, adolescence was painful for Cox. He was bullied for being gay before he really understood, what that meant he felt like something was wrong with him. And contemplated, suicide more than once eventually Cox found a sense of belonging. With other lady, Gaga fans, they talk to each other via YouTube channel. He set up in a lot of ways. He says, lady Gaga saved his life, I have her signature autographed tattooed on. On my arm over a scarf, Mizzou side attempt. Cox says when born this way came out the lyrics felt like a shield against the insecurity. He felt about not being accepted because you're not the one saying anymore someone's defending you. And it's an asong asong that is playing on repeat on the radio that everyone is talking about,.

Yep. Just to gaze at me. Just the last two games at me in love with ham. A get it, though, what were brings you by the way for the audience and get it to just the blatant disregard of the other significant other and again for the audience at home, if you've not seen this viral clip that exploded over the weekend lady Gaga gig. Is doing a one person show knots not too because she did a bunch of duets and things like that. Okay. Should do my residency and residency in Vegas. There was some speculation that she'd have a bunch of guests and things like that. Because she's doing too. So she's doing one intern arena. That's just fucking arou- Gaga poker face. And then you could buy tickets for another show that's called jazz, piano, where it's just her singing piano, and that's it. So kind of ballots both are equally. Interesting speculation was that she would have guests come in for the jazz, piano, one in sing with her. And she did last night the Saturday night. Steph all guest guest of all guest pops up, and it was it was big hoops, Bradley Cooper came in. They're very I'm not prepared. Oh, I could net. You know is ready to perform. Oh, right. Yeah. Both of them both of them. So they sang their hit song shallow together. Which is let's face it. It's it's amazing. And it's it deserves to win the Oscar it probably will win the Oscars. Specially after that performance last night. But everybody online was talking about closely were long clip, check it out girls. Mostly and tell me how you would feel as a Bradley Cooper Cooper's. Baby, mama groupie. I let coop. He Kupa glean kooky. Gene. Let me know how you would feel deep down if you were watching this viral video because he's married with a child, I believe he has a girlfriend, but they're you know, it's like girlfriend with a child Okara hairy Hollywood. That's a whole box of problems on your hands the problem, but it, but it's this thing of I'm overcoming the problem every day. So she needs like the gratification for that. So she'll tell everyone how much she's in pain. But that she's gonna move through it guys. So don't say anything don't tell me about it. And I look I've seen her in concert for five times. She the pain. She's describing in this documentary is probably real the shit. She does on stage. I mean, there was one show where I was like oh my God. She's broke her back. Just fucking jumped off a piano rolled around the grass, and you're just like Jesus Christ. Yeah. It's a great great show. Great live show. She's one of the best live performance. "When everyone goes Gaga roses chocolates, Eddie bears and jewellery, and whatever else you can think of now if you haven't thought about plans for this fast, approaching hallmark holiday than have no fear because I'm going to help you put together a plan. That incorporates your one true love, which is your dog. Of course. Now, let's be real most of us greet our dogs before significant others, right? We talked to them in special voices. And if you don't you're lying, and you even spoon at night to keep warm. Right. So as you're nodding your head. Yes. You're starting to think about including your sweetheart in your vide plans. Well, the good news is I have ideas end sweet treats to share with you during this special Valentine's Day episode. So whether you're single or you have a significant other there's room for your favorite furry friend in your plans. Now, if you enjoy being active, you will love this first idea, take your, sweetie. Or your sweeties on a scavenger hunt. You can ask him or her to answer riddles to find the clues to items that you've placed somewhere around town. Hey, so you could do this on a small scale at your house or you can do it around your town. You can actually plan. This ahead of time and place little riddles that lead your sweetheart to different clues. Now, the last item should give instructions that lead to your Valentine's Day activities. Hey, so it should always lead them somewhere. You can consider adding a dog friendly component to your scavenger hunt. Can try hiding treats toys around the house put them maybe with the human items if you're playing with another human that way, the docking kind of play along and then get your dog pumped up to find the hidden items get them excited and tell them you're going on a scavenger hunt, and they need to find things. And if you play some smelly things around the house, they're even more likely to find them. So maybe a ball filled the treats behind the couch, but make sure they can. Get and of course, let him or her put that good sniffer to use and hunt out there prizes, and they may even be able to help their human a little bit find there's now after your warmed up from the scavenger hunt consider going for a hike or maybe taken a neighborhood stroll, and depending on where you live outside activities might not be the most pleasant right now. And I understand that. But if you live in a mild climate spending time outside with those who love can also be fun, and peaceful. So before you take your dog for a hike be sure to evaluate their ability to walk on uneven terrain for a long period of time. We've talked about this past episodes. So if you have any hesitation whatsoever might wanna wait it out if you don't think they're ready can either stick the little ones in a backpack because there's actually a backpack that carries dogs if you haven't seen it yet or stick to the flat roads just to be safe. You don't wanna push them too hard. Now, if you're used to spend any time outdoors, then planning a hike or outdoor adventure is a great way. To celebrate Valentine's Day and get some fresh air. We all need that right now if adventure is already in your blood and your significant other Andrew pooch are expecting to do something adventurous, perhaps you'll want to plan a surprise get away. Now, if you have a place in mind, be sure to do your research early is the place. You're staying dog friendly. That's the first question will your dog be comfortable in the car for our long. It takes to get to your destination that should be your next question. Now don't make assumptions because a nice weekend. Could suddenly be spent cleanup, doggy, vomit, and or turning around and going home. We don't want that that would not be ideal. So be sure to do a test run ahead of time. If you're unable to find a place to stay that allows dogs think about setting up a tent or sleeping under the stars in your own backyard that could be romantic and also a little bit adventurous. If you want to kind of test the waters, you can even set up a screen and a projector and make it a movie night. Plus. Popcorn is always a great snack to share. Now, if you have dog friendly restaurants near you, and you live.

"Welcome to hip rate, a podcast of pop chart history from slate magazine about the hits from coast to coast. I'm Chris Milan fee chart. Analysts pop critic and writer of slates y the song number one series on today's show ten years ago this month, the Queen of the little monsters scored her first number one hit in America. And at first all she wanted us to do was dance. In January of two thousand nine it was easy to think of lady Gaga as a delightful fluke. A young new artist singing party music a song with just dance right in the title at a time. When hip hop still ruled the billboard charts and electro dance pop was mostly for clubs this chart topper was infectious irresistible. And probably impermanent surely going into a new decade. Nobody would be talking about lady Gaga for long, right? Yeah. About that. In January of twenty nineteen. We're still talking about lady Gaga, her cultural impact has been astonishing. But over the last ten years for influence has waxed and waned Gaga was loved imitated. But also scorned. It was total drama the stuff of Senator. There's something fitting about lady Gaga having her first official frontline movie role in a stars. It's not just a showcase for Gaga skills. As a singer and remarkably as an actress, it's because a star is born is Hollywood's ultimate meta movie. A reflection of the lead actresses own career in real life weather that career belonged to a stage and screen legend. All big. Of the man that God. The top singer of her day powering her way to film starving. Like all of these women, maybe even more than any of them lady Gaga in a star is born asks the public to reflect on her persona. The movie is a fun house mirror of Gogga's career covering virtually every phase of her rise and fall, but often confounding the timeline and rewriting Gaga script walking out of the movie you can't help but reflect back on how a decade ago. She shifted the sound of the radio pivoting America toward female Centric digital. At her peak in the early twenty tens lady Gaga was not only the Queen of pop. "And he is a Tony award winner for best book of a musical for avenue. Q. Did you do? And other fun. Fact, Diane, Warren friend. Diane Warren is nominated for her tenth Oscar nomination this year, not ten all in this year. But ten in total her tenth nomination they've all been in the best original song category. This year she's nominated for all fight from Rb g which I saw just low. Cool. Great film. Yeah. It is also documentary about roof later Ginsburg versus the narrative film. That's currently out about Ruth baiter gun on the basis of sex who separate fell on Rb, G is awesome. Native for best documentary anyway Diana's nominated for all fight which is the in credit song performed by Jennifer Hudson in our BG and the certain nations she has yet to win. Now. I believe she is the most nominated person in this category without a win. And interestingly if you believe forecasters, this seems like this award could probably go to lady Gaga. Yeah. And the rest of her co writers for shallow. For a star is born which means Diane will possibly lose to a woman that she helped get her first Oscar nomination for lady Gaga, I nominate was for best original song for till it happens to you for from the hunting ground, which is written with Diane Warren. But you know, I think Diana will be okay with that. So probably tear Gaga on. Oh, I'm sure she'll be the first person on her feet, and we've talked about this a lot on this podcast. But it seems that a an element of the best regional song prize is how song as used in the film and shallow was a key part. Exactly shallow is so integral to the plot of the film. And this is like multiple times. Now that the Diane Warren has been nominated for these great songs, but that are uncrowded songs. And then it's just not as integral to the film. No all the stars is also in credit song. And I don't I haven't seen the ballot of was Scruggs. It's on Netflix. Now, if you'd like to was it ever in a theater? No, yeah. No. I think it I it hit was had to. Yeah. So it was probably in a theater for a we or something something stupid like that. And it's dumb. Okay. Anyway, anything else while I do want to say the twenty nineteen Oscar ceremony will broadcast live on February twenty.
