"And we really don't know who's going to survive out of this. But what I do know is that I don't believe Stan Bowman wants to fire Jeremy collagen because if he does in his eyes, he's just looking for the next Jeremy collagen. This is a team that doesn't feel like they need to bring in someone like a John tortorella or Mike Babcock right now. I think Stan Bowman also knows he doesn't get another head coaching hire because he already made one too, right? He fired joke when well, this is his guy. So if there is going to be any changes, I do think it would be at that GM level or management level, and we'll see what ownership decides. I mean, yeah. There's a lot to consider that the team on the ice looks very disorganized and unprepared. I'm not sure whether that's the players just not being good or whether that's a coaching thing. But it looks like, honestly, a group of players, they just got together for the first time for like a beer league drop in and they're kind of just skating around after work and they're not actually a team that's been practicing and playing together. And I'm much more worried about Seth Jones and you are Emily. I think the analytics are bad. I think that I always hated Seth Jones. I haven't. I thought I thought whatever two or three years ago, he should have been worse finalist. I thought he was fantastic. I think he just doesn't he can't really skate backwards anymore, and he's getting destroyed by speed. He made Gabriel landeskog looked incredibly fast when playing against him and that's not something that usually happens. So I'm worried about bamboo and Ford and you know, especially with the salary, but yeah, I don't know. There's a lot of time pack here, but it's a mess and certainly it's like I almost can't. I've watched all the games so far 'cause I never know what's gonna happen next because it's every game seems to get worse and worse. Somehow so I'm kind of waiting for the for them to really hit rock bottom, but it feels like there's still more to come. The thing with Jones is his results went so poorly last year. And then you have to see some kind of uptick at some point or else it's hard to have that faith. I mean, he's still young enough. Like, objectively, you know, it's not as though you have to say he's going to be a disaster for the next 8 years or something like that. But I think the concern for me would lie with the fact that it's a fairly long period of time now where his game is trending in the wrong direction. And you know, I know some people in Columbus thought that maybe last year he was one of the players that was sort of hurt most by COVID and the protocols and that that was a difficult season for him. You know, unrelated to just the play on the ice. But, you know, now he's got his brother in the organization in Chicago. I just got.

"Goal of the season for the new alternate captain Yeah he wore the a patch for a little bit last season too but he was officially named the alternate captain on the road for the Blackhawks the other day Jeremy kalitan announced that he'll be wearing the a on the road Alex to brink it at home so some split leadership from those two guys who have been incorporated now for the hawks for quite some time Connor Murphy doing a nice job of adjusting his Cole mccart Cal McCarthy that is was approaching Murphy as he had gotten the puck He loaded up for a slap shot and then saw the car so he decided to give a little bit of a deke and then risked it into the back of the net so the Blackhawks back within two goals they did have some time to work with they even had a power play to work with As again things got pretty chippy Gabriel landeskog not down Kirby Doc who was down to a knee in the neutral zone He was just kind of losing his footing while skating and land is shoved him right into the boards Tyler Johnson was right behind and just jumped on top of a land of sky right after that even though there's a big size differential between those two guys but it was good to see Tyler Johnson backing up one of his teammates So the hawks did have a power play opportunity with two guys in the box for Colorado one for the hawks They did pull their goalie They had a little bit of time with 6 on four With Mark Andre flurry towards the bench but they were unable to find the back of the net and Colorado was able to take this one again a final score of four to two They take the season opener over the hawks just some final numbers for you Colorado with 36 shots on goal the hawks worked back to 34 shots on goal so just two less Hawks won the face off game with 56% compared to Colorado's 44 Ox converted on one of their power plays you heard it in the first period Both teams with a handful of penalties avalanche with 25 hits compared to the lock 16 tonight The locks did have 21 blocks compared to Colorado 17 but again Colorado just firing on all cylinders in that first period I believe the hawks had 8 block shots in that first period and 11 giveaways for the avalanche compared to the hawks three We'll take another break We've got still a lot more to get to and we're taking a to one o'clock here on 7 20 WGN as the hawks fall to Colorado four to two You're listening to the Bitcoin.

"More year in these a U F A. He's not coming back, right? So They're really in terms of contract, And as I said, who's due for a big deal Down the road, Darlene? Maybe Yokohama. You No forwards. You know there's really no but you're gonna have to wear all of sin at some point there. Really? I don't think that contract will be an albatross because the bigger contracts that are on the books or would be on the books. I think two of them are coming off, right, So I think there's A great deal of flexibility. Even if Seattle doesn't take Skinner There's a great deal of flexibility. You know, what are the Sabres doing? Go Leo do they then sink big money into a goalie into a free agent goalie, whether it's all mark across the market and get a guy, But I'm saying I mean, he's got flexibility. Even Skinner's contract That does not preclude Kevyn Adams from doing any making any menus you've managed to make. No, that's right. You can go sign Gabriel Landeskog. It's not going to happen, of course, but my point is, they are in a position where the Skinner contract doesn't Preclude them from doing other things. Certainly I just think at the end of the day when you're when you look at value and just sort of look like a return on investment, it's that's That's part of the reason why the contract at this point hurts right is because Skinner's clearly not scoring at the same clip that he was, you know, in his contract year scores 40 goals, and I didn't think he would do that. I mean, he never did that in his career, but Skinner Even as he's as he's getting older, Nate, I mean, he should still at least be a guy you can count on for 20 goals. That's I mean, that's and that's what he has been in his career. 2025 goals, I think is not a lot to ask. And and all of a sudden he's got 21 goals will last two seasons. Granted, not full seasons, but 21 goals over. I don't know. 100 something games. Yeah, it was. Listen. I mean, he had a disappointing season last year. It disappointing, you know, short bubble season as well. I mean, he just Well before the bubble I should say, um, yeah, I don't know. I I There's a lot probably to talk about with Skinner on how this team figures. I think the first thing is if he's here Yeah. You just like Put them with good players Roll right. What's Granada going to do with him? Like stop making him a defensive player? He's not. He's not Listen. I mean, at the at the rate you're paying him. If your plan is to put them on a third or fourth line, checking role, then, like, just beg somebody to take him then and then, like trade, a second round, pick or trade, something to Seattle. And just get them off the books. If that's your plan with Skinner find a way to just get out from underneath it. That's what I was wondering if it's now that Skinner is going to be unprotected. Is it possible? Kevin Adams talks to Ron Francis and says, Okay, we'll make a little side deal. What do you want to take Skinner in the draft. And you give up. I don't know. Do you give up another pick somewhere, prosper them to make sure that again. You're not worried about a forward they would take unless they're going to be like, really enamored with wanting to keep Zemgus Girgensons say, um, you know, And then you'd also alleviate if you're if you're if they're in Internally. If they're struggling with the risk the line and versus Borgen discussion. Then if you're Kevin Adams, I don't know you again. Do you offer up hick? Hey, take Skinner. What do you want to take Skinner. Here's this pick, and then the Sabres. It basically are keeping wrist alignment and bargain. You know, One guy will be exposed, but Seattle's taken Skinner for them. Yeah, I think Granado could still find a way to get some goal scoring out of Skinner he played. I think so, too. He among other players before going better under Granado, and his role will be different. He won't be buried on a line. That's the hope. I mean, he right now, if there's no Sam Reinhart, and there's no Jack Eichel on your on your team He's your best forward. Yeah. Yeah. Goalscoring. He's him and he's your best forward. He's your best forward. Yeah, but all the sun is more about power play goals as much as as opposed to five on five. I mean under Granado, I gotta double check and see what Skinner's ice time was under Kruger under Granado is a little bit over 15 minutes a game. I feel like there were nights with Kruger where Skinner was under 10 minutes of ice time. Yes, And that role would change. Of course I think with if he stays here and don Granado I mean being the head Cook again. It's the hope I get As as common sense, as you would think. The asking Skinner to wave is no movement Clause two for two to not protect him as much as in the same way. I was really unwilling to give them the benefit of doubt that they would make such a no brainer. Move. I'm also not going to just assume they're going to do the right thing with Skinner. I just I don't know how you can after watching last year, and I know Granada. Things did change under Granado. And, frankly, listen. I mean, this isn't just about the coach in his use. He didn't really earn a lot of ice time. He didn't really learn a lot earn a lot of like high scoring chance. Opportunities playing with Eichel when he was healthy in playing with I liked him when they flashed them with middle stand a little bit, You know, like, so there's I think there's opportunities to get him around some good young players. I wouldn't mind seeing you know a cousin Skinner. First line or something along those lines next year. If that's you know who you're throwing out there, so I don't know it's I'm not going to assume they're going to do those smart right thing with Jeff Skinner, if they do And they can set themselves up for him to have a bounce back season. I don't know what that looks like, And I guess I don't really know what a bounce back season looks like for Jeff Skinner short of just get us 25 2020 to 25 goals. Yep. When we get back. What I think is the key question the Sabres will be dealing with in the wrist. Aligning versus Borgen discussion again. Now that Skinner waves the no move. We really don't have to spend much time at all the talking about who they would protect among the forwards. It really comes down to the third guy. On the defenseman list. So we'll get into that.

"And quite frankly, you're signaling rebuild number, whatever. Um, you're at organizationally. I do think a couple of things may have worked in Buffalo's favor a little bit. Um We're seeing a lot broader news cycle of NHL teams right now you can. You can get a sense that and maybe I'm alone in this. Maybe not. But It sure seems like the flat cap and the pandemic and all of the salary cap imaginations that everyone was freaking out about Last year, um, didn't really have much of an effect and now going into the 2021 22 season and into the expansion into the draft before that. It sure seems like a lot more players are kind of on the fringes of like Minnesota's double buyout of Ryan Suter and Jack Reese was eye opening. Um, as is hearing about how far apart Gabriel Landeskog in Colorado are As is any number of other examples around the league. You know, Duncan Keith gets traded in Chicago with the trade. I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on right now, that is opening doors. I think the Capri soft news is very interesting in Minnesota doesn't sound like they are particularly close. And that is a very viable trade partner of your buffalo looking to shop and player of the caliber of Jack Eichel. Because not only do you have a team It might be able to bring him in. Although they are going to be capped constraint for the next two years because of the buyout. They have the player the players, or I should say the player that you could frame a deal around for the player the caliber of Jack. Another thing that broke in their favor. Biggest losing in conference finals. Um, I think How does the chance? I don't know. Now zero. It's maybe it's small, but In Vegas has some serious salary cap to manage through on the other hand. They have And increasingly pestering need for some serious help down the line up and for a team that really is without flaw, barring some terrible shooting, um in the postseason, and I do attribute some of that the lack of playmakers down the middle Now you have a Stanley Cup contender with a really, really big need for talent in this exact area. Um, again, they would have to make a lot of the salary work on their side of the house. You got Mark Conference. Here the last year. His deal. Um you know, there's some money to move around. Their Vegas doesn't have to engage in the expansion draft cap gymnastics because of the rules when they entered the league, So I do think that least the market has widened for them, but I mean, at the end of the day, this is not a trade. Buffalo is going to win right the only way they win this. And it's kind of a terrible outcome would be as if Jack Michael straight ID and his career is impacted in any way, shape or form from this injury, and it is something you have to hedge against. But like, ultimately, like these back on the ice plan, like Jack Trade. Buffalo is going to win. Well, I I think you're definitely not going to get a better player than him back. But you know what? What has happened here? I mean, not that it's all Jack Eichel's fault. Um, but there's been no winning so Um, you know the prospect of them certainly being different. That's obvious, but getting better in a couple of years from this, like, is this a trade Travis that I can get? Two or three pieces that can can be, you know, not at Iculs level. Obviously, who is? I mean, you know that's getting traded. But like, I think about Minnesota and it's Matthew boldly and Marco Rossi, I wasn't even thinking about Caprice off because I'm just assuming they'd figure that out. But maybe they won't Um, you know, I think about Anaheim and it says Egress or Drysdale, just like nice pieces that I think are borderline. Can't miss, you know top pair top. Six. You know, four words or demon? Um, is that is that realistic? I absolutely yes, but I think this is how you frame it right like this. Whether you love can act as a player, or you think he's a good player been overpaid wherever you are on the spectrum of that, right? He He is a difference maker at the position number one and number two. He's going to be a casualty of all of the mismanagement around him over the years. I mean, the team is basically signaling I don't want to say I don't want to say rebuild outright, but like there is now going to be a transition because they are trading their most talented player, and it is an exceptionally high likelihood irrespective of what trade materializes. You're going to get a player, his caliber or even the sum of all parts being greater than that of Jack Eichel in your one. Now I think to your point I think we have seen instances in which these best player for a couple of pretty good prospect type deals. Um, we've seen when wind trades out of them, You know, maybe a slightly smaller scale, but No, like the max Pacioretty Nick Suzuki deal, and I think that was a three or four peace deal with mantra in Vegas pulled that off like You know, maybe maybe Vegas wants a bit of a do over. But not really. I think expect already been great there. Nick Suzuki's, But if I emerge and be one of the names of this postseason in Montreal, and you know what the Canadians only had to wait a year, and after that, for a player to really pick manifested into a top six player On the floor. So you know that that is going that is going to be out there. But I do think that the salary cap gymnastics which may have been overstated as here. I think they're a bit understated. This year. There are a lot of teams would either disenchanted players or a bunch of players that need to get paid relatively soon and look outside of Tampa Bay. This is a hard Catholic, so like at some point you're going to need to hit. The 80 the 80 plus million threshold, and that's that's as far as you're going to go, Um, the other the I guess the last piece on the cycle front and how this goes. Um It's kind of a weird and If it gets there for him in Buffalo, right, like this is a guy who by and large was fantastic Cox player on a terrible team, and this team is going to trade him because of all of the mistakes they made. That we're not Jack Eichel. Um and we've seen this with other organizations and teams in the past. Um, but like you look at a team like Toronto. Look Joeckel you want about their post season woes? They haven't had a problem getting into the playoffs in Boston. Matthews, Um I mean, you can tear the Edmund broiler stay absolute shred..

I have a neighbor and I'm in pretty good shape. I have a neighbor. That routinely competes in iron Man's. It is at least 10 years older than me and over and over, I think to myself how does this person get up every day? Swim three hours, run another two and keep their body in the type of shape you need to compete me like it's mystifying. Yeah, I'm not your guy again to repeat. I broke down in the training for a marathon. Forget about the swimming in the biking and I can't even run anymore. My body. You know, I'm a big guy. It was not ever. People warned me all along like because I'm like 65. And I guess when I was running, I was about to 50. That is not like you know, I I see people that are, you know, six ft. It was fun run through the playoffs, Let's get to the draft free agency. We got to know if the ABS are going to keep Gabriel Landeskog and Philipp Grubauer. We don't need to see any more games because Tampa. Just, uh Somehow, some way, won four games by only winning last night. It's really one of the most remarkable accomplishments. In sports history. Now as sarcastic as I am being. With that. Thing I just said I'm sure he's got some things to figure out. And I thought that Vegas was comparable to Tampa. But It just And I think I I thought the abs And Vegas. Were teams that could go to that next level. I don't think the I've showed it in the series with Vegas. I think Vegas showed it at times. In the series with Montreal. But I mean, Tampa Last night just showed that they They can absolutely go that next level. And I and I said this with the Islanders Series when the game now is ain't nothing like if the Islanders are not near perfect and don't impose themselves on the game. Ain't nothing can happen. Now, maybe it was going to be 8 to 2 or whatever. There are a couple close calls. But in the end, it was ain't nothing And that just shows How good Tampa is. They're really good. They're not unbeatable. But I thought that The perfect We were talking earlier about how we consume things and bite sized portions. If you didn't watch the game, and you would like the perfect bite sized portion to understand what happened last night. All you need to do. Is Look up, Gallagher Hedman. On Social media. And you will get the gift that will perfectly tell you of what happened last night. There was a point where Brandon Gallagher, who my God, he went went through the wringer. Last night. He was all bloodied and It was just It was not a banner evening for Brendan Gallagher. But there was a point in that game where Brendan Gallagher goes to push Victor Hedman. He's upset with him. He wants to push him. That's a shove him. Reminder that Victor Hedman is on skates. He naturally. You know, on skates, you kind of naturally drift. Right? Don't know. Maybe the high class skaters can stay, but I I would imagine. If you're just standing there. Naturally, your skates will start, you know, kind of moving a little bit. Brendan Gallagher shoved Victor Hedman with all his might, and Victor Hedman did not move an inch. That perfectly encapsulates what happened last night. The Montreal Canadians came out last night and did exactly what they needed to do. They wanted to muck it up. They wanted to be physical. They wanted to clock the neutral zone. They wanted to take away time and space. They want to be physical. In Tampa just Chuckled. And went right around them and through them. I don't fault the game plan of the Canadians, that's what they need to do. But it just did not work. Last night. And there came a point and unfortunately for Brendan Gallagher, he was the He was the guy where most of this most of this energy came, was directed at They gave it right back to Montreal. They weren't Overly phased. By Montreal's physicality. And then they gave it back to Montreal better than they were getting it. And even on the defensive end. It was, um Quite apropo. That the only goal that Andrei Vasilevskiy let in was on not a deflection, a double deflection. It was deflected. The shot was deflected. It was to nothing at the time. The shot was deflected like almost immediately. When it came in from just inside the blue line. Deflected and then kicks off to the left, and then it hits. Another player. I think it was a lightning player in the skate and then kicked back to the right and into the back of the net. I would say that's a pretty difficult shot to stop. If you're Andrei Vasilevskiy, as good as he is a double deflection is quite difficult to stop. That was the only goal that Montreal got all night. They tried to be direct. With Tampa, They tried to go through them. Tried to take them on head on. They tried to go right at Vasilevskiy. It just did not work. However. Series is not over. And I'll extend this because in my mind, I have forever linked the Montreal Canadians to the Phoenix sense. It's just I think that there are parallels here. I When I bring up one, I automatically think of the other. So allow me to continue that. We got to stop. Doubting these two teams. And I'll say it in the face of what happened last night in the Sun's game..

"Then this Don Cherry is like this old-school Canadian hockey commentator on CBC or was, he's recently misplaced from that role. He called them a bunch of jerks. He hated this like outward, fun. He like he hates hockey fun because he's a guy from a different time. When hockey hours one of those one of those baseball guys, we hate 100%. It's 100% what he is and he called him a bunch of jerks on like on you know live TV. So Carolina boxes hurricanes, themed hurricanes colored, bunch of jerks t-shirts completely event into it. It was awesome. So that's so Carolina kind of made their waves made their Mark, um, you know, prior to this. But this is kind of their real, for a, the real Ascent into being notable for their play in. Quite some time, they won the Stanley Cup and I believed For they they actually want it all and since then it's been kind of tough sledding for them. So I'm glad to see that. They're back in a good spot. They're making the postseason. I don't think they'll they'll they'll be postseason Mainstays for a while. I don't think they're necessarily going to win it all any time soon, but I think they're going to be around there, going to be a tough out there. Good team, there are fun team. I like them. And I'm wrong, because I have no reason not to. They're they're, they're good fun, team. So, Colorado will be back. The Avalanche have a young team, they have a bill through the draft if I remember correctly. Correct. Yep. Very much so and so they but the question is, as they, they're young guys age, they're going to have to be paid at some point. So I would imagine that the pressure is on Monday. You there? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep. I'm here. So you capture is on. Well, I would say next year they have to win, right? Kind of, so I got their two best players. I think in Mikko rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon. Those are locked up. McKinnon expires, twenty-three, twenty-four and granted it expires twenty-five. Twenty-six thousand McKinnon specifically is on what I think is unequivocally the single best contract in the league and it's not close. He's making six point three million dollars which is a little bit. What does that have a little bit more than half of what guys, like auston Matthews and, do you ever making? Yeah, and he's like ninety-five 5% is good wildly. Underpaid wildly underpaid. And he's twenty-five years old. Wow, this contract. But he's going to get paid at some point. He will in twenty-three twenty-four. Yep. Think that's your I think that's your spot. They've got Brandon Saad who is a for for the hockey fans. It's crazy that he's only twenty years old because he's been on the league for a long time. He wants some cups in Chicago, he's on a pretty team from this year, but he expires after the season Gabriel landeskog, who's there? Captain other great player? He's only 28, he expires after this season on a pretty team-friendly deal as well. After that after those two guys suck. I actually don't hate their cap sheet. They're they're both our goaltenders Philipp grubauer who's played tremendously and Devan, dubnyk, who's a capable backup are both up for New Deals, but grew by his own life and change this year. So he's got room to get paid. I'm sure he will at 29 Bill tenders age late and the goal tenders. Don't really come into their Prime until their late 20s, whereas like, you know..

"Some restricted free agents? Or do they not want to mess with anything like that, and they just take guys who have multiple years left on their deals, But that's for Seattle. That's not for the Avalanche. To really worry about. You can protect seven forwards, three defenseman and a goalie or eight skaters, regardless of position or going This is the list that I came up with and see if you agree. Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon Kale MacArthur, who is a restricted free agent. Oh, Bayram. The VON Caves. Sam Gerard J. T. Compher, Andre Berger cops Ian Paavo Francis Eunice Johanson, I don't believe is the goaltender that the ABS would want to protect and fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you feel about the next conversation we're going to have They don't have to worry about protecting group our because he's a free agent. So that's the list. I came up with notable players that would be exposed. Larry Natural Skin, Joonas Donskoi, Nazem Kadri, Eric Johnson, Tyson, Joseph and Ryan Graves. Those are the ones that are under contract that would be exposed. To the Seattle crackin. If I am understanding the rules of the expansion Jeff correctly and I believe I am But those players will be the ones that are exposed. Don't know that there's anyone on that list and you may like one guy or another. Joonas Donskoi has been a great pick up. We talked about how important Nazem Kadri was in in more accurately how much they missed him. Due to his suspension. Valen Itu's skin has been a nice player, but certainly not one that you can't live without error. Johnson his entire contract is a complete albatross, so I think the Sakic will be begging. For Seattle to take Eric Johnson. I don't think that's going to happen. And in fact, Eric Johnson is waiving his no movement clause, which protected him when Vegas came into the league. He's reportedly waving that so if Seattle wants them, they can get them. Don't know that an off injured defenseman north of 30 years old. That's making $6 million a year would be at the top of their priority list. But again, I'm not inside the Seattle cracking war room. Tyson, Jost and Ryan Graves. Especially Ryan Grave. I think is is what you might lament ending up losing. And if I'm Seattle, I look at Ryan Graves. I say That would be a nice piece. To have but you can only protect so many guys. Unless they take Eric Johnson. You're not going to free up a lot of money. Which leads me into the real conversation. I wanted to have In the first segment. I was just Throwing out that list to see What you thought about that. But the real conversation I wanted to have to start here. You have to soon to be free agents. That would be in demand if they hit the open market and Gabriel Landeskog and Philipp Grubauer. This is a team in the avalanche that is not flush with cap space. It will be a tight squeeze to bring them both back. I do believe That they can if they make the right ancillary moves in order to free up cap space. But that that's getting too granular. That's getting too much into salary cap and all that kind of stuff. I don't want to get That in the weeds My question is this and it's based on something that Paul Kelly said on this show a week or so ago. Mentioned Philipp Grubauer. And compared him. To Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks. In that he is a nice goalie, that you can obviously win a championship with, but he is not necessarily elite. When you bring up Corey Crawford. That's what you're saying. So if you frame it that way. Then the money that fill of group Our might command out on the open market is not worth it to the Colorado Avalanche. But the question that I would pose can the avalanche of four not to pay Philipp Grubauer. And we'll have the Gabriel Landeskog discussion and another time. I want to talk about Philipp Grubauer. Philipp Grubauer, being a Vezina Trophy finalist can command upwards. $7 million and even at seven That might be a little bit short of what he could actually earn. On the free agent market. I think you're looking at more like nine. Because Vasilevskiy, who signed an extension in the last couple years with Tampa and then the last big name Free agent goalie on the market. Sergei Bobrovsky signed deals in that neighborhood 9 9.5 $10 million Always that you can believe that you believe you can win a Stanley Cup with do not normally hit the free agent market. And one of the goal is that's left in this series are in this round. Carey Price signed a massive extension a few years ago, which, until these playoffs look like an albatross around the next Of the Montreal Canadians. Now he's playing like vintage carry price, and he's worth it. Same with Marc Andre Fleury, who make $7 million a year. That contract was once an albatross. Now it seems like good value. For a guy that's up like Philipp Grubauer for the Vezina Trophy. I just don't See how the Colorado Avalanche Cannot make Philipp grubauer, their number one priority. This off season. The most consistent player. In their series with Vegas. Was Philipp Grubauer. I understand that this team is very good. And I will.

And the luxury that both Sidney Crosby and Nathan McKinnon have Is that they have been on good teams doesn't detract from either ones. Greatness. Right. We look at Sidney Crosby. As player on every penguin scene. Right, but he had his ad market. For a lot of years, right? Nathan MacKinnon has had Gabriel Landeskog amigo rant in it. We're both of those guys do is take so much attention. For themselves. That other guys can't help too. But be better and and reap the rewards of that. Amigo. Rantanen was that guy this year? So they're very similar in that regard in that during the regular season. No one questions how good they are there in the running for Hart trophies every single year. Win healthy, of course. Like Nathan McKinnon, as like Sidney Crosby has for so many years of his career. They're in the M V p conversation. It's statistically. They're very rarely and a Nathan McKinnon's case, never leading the league in points. Rolls. When it comes playoff time. Both of those guys say no, this is This is my show. This is where Where I shine. This is where I'm going to carry the team. And the stat line of how many points he averages. In the playoffs. What is that? What's the list? Gretzky, Lemieux and there's one other Guy that they brought up on the graphic. And then it's Nathan McKinnon. Most The highest average of points in playoff games. He's one of the quickest guys. To a benchmark in the number of playoff points. Yet the regular season what many people have held against him? Is that he doesn't leave the league in assists, or or points or North. Which maybe has kept Sidney Crosby from winning. Um or Hart trophies than he has So everything we see from Nathan McKinnon says. This guy's on another level. Nathan McKinnon. Says that's ah, your words, not his. I don't know if I'm another.

"If you have a gambling problem, please call 1 805 to 2 47 100. S so far so good for the Denver Nuggets. They're up early on. The Boston's Celtics actually bet on the speaking of vandal. Bet on the Now gets plus one. Oh, two. Tonight. I just ride the hot hand. I know that Anthony Davis didn't play on Sunday, but the Nuggets still played really well. Going for foreign arose. Celtics have been really disappointing. Jason Tatum recently talked about He had covert and he's talking about the lasting Facts of it. And apparently he's not on now. Boston just took the lead their mind. Bad start for the Nuggets. Coolio catch already with 10 points. But now gets her down 15 13, but Still early doors. As my friend Roland Vargas would like to say, but Jason Tatum has not been playing to the level of expectation that we normally have of Jason Tatum. And he talked about some of the lasting effects from when he got Cove ID and he's just not. You know, we talk about Jamal Murray, for other reasons hasn't been quite right physically. Jason Tatum hasn't been quite right physically because he's had coping. Um So Celtics have been a little bit underwhelming. This year. And why not write the hot hand with the Nuggets? The other A couple of bets that I Or add one other bet I'm gonna have to find Maura's the evening progresses because the Champions League Not surprisingly, was just awful for me. Just terrible. I don't know what it is Premier League domestic leagues. I do pretty well. Premier League I Yesterday I hit my bet. My premier Li bed, the Buddhist League. I bet pretty well lt'll IGA. But when those teams France team from France plays the team from Spain team from Germany plays a team from England. I just I don't know. I just can't quite put my finger on it. Add Red Bull Leipzig today they get. I think they got blown out. I don't know. I turned off the match when he was to nail liver Liverpool. And then Ah! Yeah, they ended up winning to nothing. And that too, Neil. And then I bet on Oh, Barsa. To be PSG that in have Neymar or on held them. De Maria. And the problem is they still had killing and Baba and they ended up losing. They were pretty heavy favorites. Two. You don't want to hear about that. That's in the past. The past is past the future's now. Then on the Nuggets, and then I'm going to take the night's tonight and It's because the home team tends to do even better. The second game. When they're hosting a team. I'm not gonna break with it just because it's the abs. Um Camel cars a game time decision, But Jerry Ben are today did not seem Optimistic. That killed my car was going to play. Sam Gerard Gabriel Landeskog. They're not even a thought tonight. So I'm gonna I actually took Vegas on the 60 minute money line. I'm going to take them to win and regulation. Tonight. That gets me a little bit better. Hey out because they were like minus 1 35 or 1 36. On the money wine, but I'll take them to win in regulation. Um Then after shorthanded and I feel like goals, they're gonna be If I had a pick a team To do a little bit better scoring. I would think it's Vegas because they're not short handed. Like the ABS are no Landis Scott, probably Noma car. No, Gerard I mean, those air the those do the guys That distribute the puck. They're the ones that get Nathan MacKinnon into a good position. Amico Rantanen into a good position. To score goals. And you saw on Sunday. When McKinnon was kind of left to his own devices. He didn't have the help. That he, um Normally has In terms of guys getting him the park. Vegas just collapsed on him. Only got off four shots all night, so I mean, even one of those players playing Would make me feel differently. But if all three are out Still Just a lot of facilitators. That aren't in the lineup. But the beauty of betting against your favorite team is your kind of happy either way, right either when you're better Your team wins so I'll take Vegas to win in regulation tonight. I'm gonna have to find other stuff because The soccer just did not. Maybe I'll take a I'll probably take in adult tonight. And when at Wimbledon had Serena so I had Serena yesterday and then I Ah, Then wait Last night, I put a wager on Novak Djokovic inch. No, really going outside the box. But look Have more money today than I did yesterday. Because I bet on the cold Nicole you could Novak to talk about Novak Djokovic's while looking at Nicole Yokich is very difficult. I am more money today than I did yesterday, because I bet on Novak joke of it, so Yes. Not the most outside the box. Not the most brave, courageous bet, But you know when the wind the wind And the dolls and action tonight so There we go. That's my Betting spiel. Um Now gets back up on top. 26 25. So there you go. Now get Speaking of I talk about the Australian Open. A lot of What is being made of the shirt that Serena Williams's husband War That was an awesome shirt. But I want to kind of get into the conversation that it is spurred, and it kind of goes into the conversation we're having last week about Tom Brady's place..

For the head coaching job with the Lions. The very sad tale of NFL receiver Josh Gordon takes no the bad term reused. Aided by the NFL and briefly back in the league with the Seahawks. "There's Have a massive piece of motivation that comes with that as well. So I think it could be nothing but a good thing for the Avalanche to have that pressure and expectation this season and it's not a small window. Either. You look which It's coming up through the system and the way that the ads are structured. Now it's it's it's a It's a decent sized window for Colorado toe, get it done with a group of players that they have. Yeah, and then they have players on the way that we may see sooner or later. But there's some promising players that are not going to be on the ice tonight. That could be it could play a role this season. Last year. You know, part of the absolute success was the fact that it seemed like everybody knew that Joe Sakic brought in, uh, you know, contributed it Just like Joe Sakic hit gold like five times with the additions that he made. He makes a couple this year understanding that this is not a roster that needs to be overall by any stretch. Brandon Saad Devontae Aves. You look at those two guys being the big additions. What kind of a fit and what kind of an impact do you think those two guys can have? Well, we'll start with Brandon Saad Brian because I mentioned in the second ago, obviously two cups with Chicago Blackhawks. Comes over in the trade. Nikita's the door off a dentist Gilbert, who's a defenseman who impressed the coaching staff, that camp he came as well, the Lynn home and the key to the door off going the other way. But with Brandon Saad, you get 20 goals. Sure it's three in the last five years. Five, the last 20 gold score of four. Chicago, Columbus, and that's just what he does, and he will start off the season on the line with Naz and Cadre and Gabriel Landeskog, and that's not a line that I would like to play against. Beyond it. He's He's a diverse forward. He's been in and out of the second power play unit. Yeah. Evelyn should been run for the past couple of days. He can Beacon like everybody else on the roster. He's an elevator guy. You want him to play on the third line? Sure you want him to play up top. You can do that, too. So that's what you get with him. You get experience. You get versatility and you get the puck in the net. Back on the blue line. Devante AIDS is an absolute steal. In my opinion by the front office, Joe Sakic, Chris McFarland looking at the Islanders salary cap, and they didn't deal finally deal. Kyle Burrows, who was the captain of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers there, Hlt and they're on the island. When they did that deal. I feel like they looked at the salary cap in the Islanders and said, Hey, we can do more here. The divine tapes was an expiring restricted free agent for the New York Islanders. The avalanche trade to second round picks and some people may raise an eyebrow that to me. Uh, it's it's well worth. What you're going to get in Devante hates they're able to sign him to a four year extension because he's the type of player that fits. Defensive corps and model that the avalanche are and that speed that skill and it's put possession. Most importantly, as a defensive corps. I think the avalanche have the best puck possession. Uh, defensive group in the National Hockey League out of the zone into the zone control, and that's what the forwards are designed to do as well. If you have four words like needed to McCain and me go ranting and Johnson. Cadre Landis. God give you have a four group. It's like as good as they are. And you can't get the pox in there. Good. How much good to you? Defensive corps. Now that is young, obviously but skilled and smart and divine tapes. Is Going to be a great partner for killing a car. I think we'll see how that's going to come to fruition. Is that how that's how it'll start off tonight? So, um Two excellent excellent acquisitions by Joe Sakic in Brandon Saad and Divine tapes, and I expected to pay media dividends. What do you think? Is what? Try and think. How the afraid. What? What? What do you think of this? Basically playing The same team back to back like what kind of a dynamic do you think that that brings, Because usually it's you know, you play a team, and then you're gone. And you may not see them for a week. Two weeks, maybe a month, maybe half of the season. What kind of dynamic do you think it will bring? Have games like with the Blues and with the King's where they play one day and then a couple days later, they play him again. You know, in both Colorado Springs and obviously up here. We're very familiar with college hockey. And college hockey is unusually into game series, usually on a Friday and Saturday back to back nights, and it's always a fun conversation. Piece to see. Okay, what happened on Friday night? Do they hate each other? Did one team get blown out and what's gonna happen on Saturday? How are they going to respond to that? I think you're going to. You're going to see a grown up version of college hockey in that sense that you are familiar and you get an immediate chance for revenge. If you want it, you don't have to wait. Until the calendar flips to march, For example, to get back at the ST Louis Blues for what they did to you. You could do that immediately. Familiarity breeds contempt sometimes, and that is what I expect all these to be. Is miniature playoff series on the Avalanche in a good spot because the division itself is top and bottom heavy. You have the top three teams that finishing the West from last season. ST Louis, Colorado in Vegas, and then you have five of the bottom six. Minnesota Arizona women's California seems L. A Anaheim. In the San Jose Sharks first time that all three California teams didn't make the playoffs since the mid nineties. So The ABS are in a good spot to make some hay and I would I would like to think win the division, but you're going to get familiar and they're going to get familiar with you. So that means that you have to Be creative and and be be prepared to change if you need to. Because sometimes your normal game plan isn't exactly you know, Clark. Tanamor Gay, He might guess he will be on the call tonight. Abs in blues coverage starts at eight Poke drop at 8 30. Who understanding that things changed and opinions evolve and We may not think that the team that we say tonight is the biggest threat to the ABS in the West. We may not believe they are by mid season or even in a week..
