"Last. You'RE GONNA pop culture to marry a couple other things. We have our large canine shirt. There might be a balloon Jerry Shirts Dylan. They're not sure member that fades <hes> Star Trek stuff brown's up a Baker Mayfield stuff proceeds go to a special Olympics submission that for all season anything you want stuff in there moving on fuck this movie Playmobil the movie. I say that emphatically I don't like this movie. I I really truly belt likeness movie based on the Koi Playmobil with this. I slandered toy weaver trailer. Actually don't dislike Playmobil. It'll be uh-huh <unk> Piper lego alias. It's not even Lego. It's I don't dislike. It's it's like the Legos for your friend who goes to like private high school but it's going to the same state university you do version of Legos like you know the ended up in the same place. We get more money doing it. The Hey Arnold episode were arnold cousin comes to town and he's just like a pale ugly from version of Arnold at the do everything together. This might be a reference that you might understand trope. Maybe Jeff Wash that up. Soon are right so so here's here's the premise smarter here's the premise of moral play by on you. Taylor joy is forced to abandon her carefully structured should life to embark on epic journey to find her younger brother Charlie who has disappeared into the vast in wondrous animated World Playmobil towards <hes> starring in this is <hes> obviously on you Taylor joy as Morla Gabriel Bateman eight men as Charlie and then the voices of Jim Gaffe again <hes> probably the biggest star in this movie is Daniel Radcliffe that he got Meghan Trainor Adam Lambert Keenan Thomson <unk> Thomson and Wendy mcclendon cubby not it's not a horrible voice cast. What makes the people though pretty good voice cast? I just Daniel Radcliffe is playing REX Dasher secret agent in Martha's love interest so yeah I don't know I you know this is a pretty pretty clever play to get play mobile mobile from the smart kid toy shop into. Maybe the will actually if there wasn't there are no dumb kid toyshops anymore and went out of business so they're just you know try. Some were playing mobiles. I look I don't hate him for that one. I just don't like the way the plane mobiles <hes> Our ages seems like it's hard not to draw comparisons the lego movie right in. I don't think that's unfair because it's is basically as the lego movie with play Mobiles Litter. It's almost exactly where it is. Just not how they line. Everyone up here can be good for Keenan Thompson some different work. It's directed by guiding Lino desalvo who's directing his first ever movie but he was an animator mater on inspector gadget the Matthew Broderick while one hundred and to Dalmatians right Ray Raina Fire Kangaroo Jack Chicken little meet Robinson for that Disney movie thank of Disney movie bull tangled frozen and now the plane will be. I think he's done in six years. They tried to get the spider verster actor but Spider Virtual Im- important effort well so like Playmobil is German company obviously and and like I had a few playmobil place growing up so hopefully hopefully they bring back the <hes> like the place. That's I know in love the calculator factory <hes> the concrete nightclub <hes> all the all the German even themed things rebel and love math class engineering lab played a little desam cool. I'll give this I watched this trailer and my first thought each side while the giant giant smokestacks on the river <hes> the the auto clan V._W.. Exhaust install beer garden yeah just just the Germany too much so my my cannot missiles I just I imagined to be like the most disciplined toy ever it comes to the package and the instruction is like you get four figures in this and if you bring a fifth from your other place a place that no longer work in in crops will visit you like cramp is by the way could movie <hes>. Let's move on from Playmobil to Maktum Ben Affleck. That's right might be started a movie together for the first time since good will hunting right like starts correct star yes so everyone opened their shit about like oh the dog together like they weren't the the central roles in that movie starring together means secure. The two humane roles in the mood is the first time that saved on that since Matt David was probably in the town though he had been in the town <hes> according to deadline Damon and AFLAC May Star in the last duel with Scott US skinny Ridley Scott Directing Dome based on Eric Years Novels Fourteenth Century Way the movie rights in the left will a fourteenth century revenge tail following two friends who battled each other in France's last legal dual in addition to portraying the two friends center Affleck name would go right the script with Nicole officer neighbor whole definitely hollow fencer or fenner yeah close enough. She did you ever forgive me really Scott keeping busy in his elements willing to go right Merlin Russell exciting. We'll see them back the other note releasing on birthday this podcast or late Wednesday. We're seeing once upon a time in Hollywood would finally we're very excited for. I liked the story for the last dual. I like this concept. We talked about before sometimes taking like a really myopic event in history and making a movie out of it is a lot more interesting than say making a movie about something. That's very well. Now is the thought of either of them doing fifteenth century acting is just a major turn off to be completely frank really I think we can handle it. I like both of them both of them in like old school like like freely garb and all that trying to talk like extremely sophisticated Frenchman like I don't know I really don't know about that the yeah it's like Matt. Damon's character knocks the plated armor off of <hes> Ben Affleck in the dragon on Tattoo comes to life shit. That's like one of the worst tattoos of all you've awaking excelsior visit turtle slumber egregious has risen Matt you fool. The Guy Really doesn't strike out too much so there's I've high much. I'm saying he has a lot of very big hits and he produces a lot of stuff that does really well to and I think he him and Affleck and I wanNA see David Manure all three of them producers on this last time or these Scott and Matt Damon Ricco produced on something you know movie that was the Martian okay good movie yeah. I think you're right like really Scott's made movies that Stink Exodus God's in kings things the counselor we've talked about his is in my opinion. One of the worst movies I've ever seen but Ridley Scott's highs like alien and bladerunner pretty much gives them free rein to do whatever every wants even though it's thirty years ago and he's gladiator so take those three movies together you can do whatever he wants. He said some hits Mrs. <HES> PROMETHEUS was probably my biggest disappointment but it breathes is still a competent movie though the I regret. I think it's entertaining T._v.. I finish it. I can't do previous yeah I Alien Covenant Was <hes> Ailing Covenant seemed like a lot better of movie and maybe they should have started with that APP movie rather than done prometheus. I just don't the thing about Prometheus is <hes> who cares about David. The robot shit character just to shitty character might be fast know I don't know man kingdom heaven as another bad. <hes> right leg got his fucking slow your role. Their Kingdom to Heaven is not a bad movie. Really I thought Kingdom of Heaven wasn't good. No it was it's not a fucking amazing Oscar winning movie or anything but it was definitely wasn't bad. That's go watch. Maybe Miss Remembering what about Hannibal because remember Hannibal like the show now no the the movie version they didn't know same same Hannibal Lecter character but this was the follow up to sound to lambs ten years after its. It's most notable for him. Removing brain of another. I think it was ray. LIOTTA 's character right I chant ix Lecter spoken chant ix in Gary Oldman characters creepy and that I don't know I you know this seems good. I like to Elliott scope of it. I like the unknown story. I think a single movie were either. Either of them. Were like in that era in history. I can't like I'm trying to right now and I'm drawing the two that come to mind the most in terms of them in Arizona aren't now one was lived by night which came out a couple years ago. That was the Ben Affleck won a Shakespearean low it was that the one where he was a mobster. Yeah that was that was his passion project and he went on Kimmel in one of the talk about it and he talked about Batman and he wasn't like actually Matic Kimmel but he was predictably and he oy making life and Batman well. I mean come on man like David was in the Great Wall in Shakespeare in love and people forget people forget the great brothers Grimm brothers. GRIMM is a great barometer for how this being. That's all I'm saying wasn't it was at him in Heath Ledger Yeah. He fled recipes big rig. We'll see we've zoo. That was the ARGO technically in the past Argos in the past. Yes Bergen also technically in the past. You know we're talking about grit. I'd say like the closest barometer to this would be like something like brothers Grimm right like as far as time period goes and I don't think that either of them have really done something like that before so it'll be new territory but obviously they're both gifted actor so good chance. That's a very gifted director true trigger again. I mean different eras but trigger point a very good movie very very good so we'll say I like the months together again in a starring role even though Matt Damon again definitely was in the town moving on quitting Tarantino to more pieces the news <hes> Tarintino do things one apparently this part are star Trek Star Trek script is setting the Chris Pine time-line obviously if you follow along you will not be getting a sequel anytime soon to the Chris Pine Star Trek <hes> franchises last night that was pretty good except for the dark winter embarked with very cool movie and apparently Quintin on Uma Thurman <hes> recently discussed a guilt free Artemis Kill Bill Three thing is <hes>. I don't want to speak out a turn but <hes> Uma Thurman had that Vanity Fair piece where surprising yeah <hes> and I don't know what's happened since but like I mean it's I guess if they're talking they reconciled but like it was surprising after that piece because it did seem pretty brutal like a about just a him him insisting she drive the car than her getting injured in the car so I don't know like I'm glad they're talking again..

"Skip ad right here. We're gonna have you skip ahead to the Toy Story part where you can make it, it, it's like fucking choose your an adventure. All right. Here we go. Child's play came out last week. I think last week came out last week out for about a week after moving to a new city young. Andy barklay receives a special present from his mother, a seemingly innocent, buddy with an eye. Right. True stands for internet. Banzai buddy, the bonsai buddy, best friend, when the doll suddenly takes on a life of its own end unites with other neighborhood children to stop the sinister toy from wreaking. Bloody havoc we've been clamoring for more movies with children. Leading the way, we got another one, all replies in the lead role as Karen barklay along with Gabriel Bateman place. Andy Brian Tyree. Henry plays detective Mike Norris. Marquette voices Chucky, Tim, Matheson, is a CEO Henry chasm to message the feet, the vice president from west wing John Heinz. Mr. stork in. Thank you. The character names of the same from the original Chucky, but it's not the same junky. It's completely different jokey audience gave under center tomatoes. Yes. Sixty two percent from the critics metacritic, I think is right around there. I give it I need to think about it again. I watched it for the second time this week. I've seen it twice. Now it's not good. It's not a good move. I was shocked by things. And I think that intrigued me a little bit to say I didn't really dislike it. What I it's just it's not very good. It's not a very good movie. But I didn't dislike in a sense that I, I really hated it and want to skewer it. I just didn't really like it that much. I gave it a gave it a seventy Jeff. I liked it. I'm buttering this one. This. Okay. Thank you. This one was ridiculous. I thought that it was over the top. I felt it was very self aware the I don't think they went as heavy-handed on the technology elements as they could have gone, it was on par with this last season of black mirror. So that gives you any indication. The major thing is Mark Hamill really felt like you only got to be more camel in the last ten minutes. Movie. That's the only time he got a really psycho monologue. It reminded me a lot of his work in the joker, except not as Joe Kary joke fan. I mean, the performances were mostly stand ins, but if for a horse, slasher film, I felt like a movie from the eighties. I liked it. I dug it the other thing that was really weird is like some of the characters that died. They really set them up to be bad people. So it was like, am I supposed to be rooting for choking here? And then, like one death was just like straight up a good person, but it was all over the board. It was a mess in some parts. But like I look it had some really gory scenes. I thought the scenes where was doing like the mouth movements, and he's talking to Andy. And like doing the creepy mouth thing I really liked that. I like a lot of the shit in this movie, and it doesn't make sense. But I don't think it's as bad as I thought it was going to be. I agree with that, last part, probably more so than anything you said, that's a slam. You like that is the part that I think stuck out the most that I really wanted. That's why it's still like teetering on my score like a kind of want to give it a little higher. But the issues, I had with it pretty glaring that just made Chucky so ugly as a consumer product that, like, why would anyone want to buy that, that was the glaring thing is creepy from the get-go? It's dull the controls your home whole house. Like why did you ever want this and I love that part? Because it, it set it up in this. Alternate reality were stuff just doesn't make sense..

"If you've got one do you have one for the entire group? No, it's only four the kings of the world dare I ask, what's in that. Not very. Oh man. I was gonna say you're celebrating my presence with the best guy. Yes. Jabbie that can only happen if you bring one for the whole group and that's not today. But today is box office day. Let's get into it. We have the actual numbers here, number one at the box office, of course, Toy Story, fort wound up making a hundred and twenty point nine million dollars. Then number two went to child's play which made fourteen point one million Aladdin took the three spot with thirteen point two million. Then it's men in black international with ten point, seven million and finally the secret life of pets coming in at number five with ten point three million dollars Roca, you look at the chart right now, anything in particular that stands out to you. I mean, if we're going to talk about Toy Story Salima jump into child's play. I thought it was a bit of a surprise considering how these horror films over the last year. And I mean, twelve months have really exploded onto the scene in terms of shocking box office numbers and so to see child's play which everyone seems to love from the eighties to see if being. Rebooted in this way, I was surprised that it only came in at the numbers that came in it was predicted to be about eighteen twenty but we saw that for for us and us like blue that prediction out of the water. There are there pre box office predictions out of the water. So I'm a little surprised by this, amnesty, plus or see cinema score doesn't bode. Well, I know some horrors get season scores. Still do. I just don't think this is one of those that's going to get there. And then I just it's a shame because Aubrey plaza. Fantastic. Gabriel Bateman is great. I love Mark Hamill, but I'm really surprised at the horror fans did not come out for this one months ago. If you had asked me, I would have predicted a much higher number, but leading up to the released checking certain ticket sales. It looked like it was going to underperform for me. I think I went with something like fifteen million on him which was under expectations. But, you know, when you think about it, it made fourteen million dollars on a believe ten million dollars production budget. So it wasn't a complete loss. But yet given what you said about how har- movies are doing right now. You would expect a bigger number, especially for bringing back an iconic franchise like this. This. But I think this speaks to a much larger question that kind of paves the way to us talking about Toy Story four right now. And it's the issue of an oversaturated market. And while it is great that avengers. Endgame made as much money as it did. I suspect that we are feeling the ripple, effect of a movie making such a significant amount. And it's kind of sucking the air out of the room for everything, whether it's direct competition like another superhero movie or even a horror movie, I just get the feeling like many people out there saved and spent their money on a movie like vendors and game. And that could also be why Toy Story for even though it made a lot of money, and it's a fishery the highest opening weekend for the Toy Story. Franchise it underperformed by good deal. So that is kind of what I think we are seeing happening right now. Jabbie is there any other reason Toy Story for did not? I mean, forget even just hit a hundred forty million dollars, which is what Disney expected. I mean we were talking a couple months ago about at topping incredible. Two and becoming the highest opening at the domestic box office for an animated movie of all time and it came nowhere close to making that happen. Have you guys paid attention to the billboards at all for toys story? Yeah. It'd be it looks like an indie film to me, like it was very simple. Most of the billboards I've noticed have to do with Woody in front of a ferris wheel. And it's nothing super exciting like you traditionally, see these days where it'll grab kids, you know, attention and go, I want to watch them mommy that deep voice. That, that was that's what caught my attention. I feel like most of the people that watch Toy Story, it's a legacy like they've been following this, since they were kids. And so now they're taking their kids to see it. Maybe begrudgingly. Maybe the kids didn't want to see it initially because they haven't been keeping up with their whole lives. Like like the parents did. That's really possible. Certainly, if you touch on the marketing campaign, the trailers, did nothing. I think for this installment of the Toy Story franchise, it didn't excite people. I didn't like any of them, and then when I walked in the theater and enjoyed it, it was akin to Aladdin, I didn't know what to expect a walked in had a great time laughed more than I laughed in any of the tuition installment. But I think what it really has to do with is. I didn't people underestimated. How much people don't need another toys story. Finding nemo in the incredible are separate thing. They just have a separate. Reverence in the Pixar loving community, I think Toy Story is revered. I don't I think what people were done with Toy Story three and then they see this Toy Story four and they didn't come out in the same numbers, because, like, I don't know if I need it. I'm good. We ended and three they all have everything worked out, we're fine. And this is a Woody story, only, and buzz almost becomes an afterthought nine movie. And that's a terrible thing. Yeah. Very fair point, though. Because the conversations we were largely having, and it's because toys story three has such a powerful finality to it is we are constantly talking about. Oh, like why do we need this movie? Why are they even bothering to continue in new have this great little trilogy there? And then after I had seen it they prove to me that they had a good reason to continue the franchise. But these numbers we're talking about all the movie goers, out there in the world. We are basically required to see the movie because it's our job and we have access to these screenings, but for someone out there, making the decision Toy Story three might have been enough and maybe they weren't open to a fourth. People. Yeah, people people having enough Toy Story. I, I would I liked the idea of another choice, right? Because I, I grew up with. And I wanted to see more. I would love to see ten more choice stories, if they have those stories and it's not like burning itself out, but I'm just wondering how animations have been performing in general lately over the past few years, because you've got net flicks. And it's like it's just instant easy access during the summer you can borrow mom's phone and just watch animations there. Why do you have to go to the feeder, you can just wait for toys, or is it an event type of thing? So know go to it because of that. But you, you the thing you might be alluding to those interesting. There have been more Pixar films of the last few years, I think, in terms of number, and volume, then, then, in previous years, see start to wonder how many sequels of Pixar are coming out rather than original stuff, and that could affect it as what we do have to originals on the way with onward and soul, which could solve that problem. But I do, but I to a lot of people I spoke, a lot of my friends know if people know how many they, they were like, well, what's the why do we need a Toy Story? There was no rush to go. See it. Here's that's a part of a great chat question right now that is kind of going off what you were just saying. But more specifically to Disney animation's Calderon his asking since Toy Story for failed to beat incredible to opening will frozen to have a better shot or open higher than Toy Story. Without a doubt without at Reno frozen is going to crush all the other Pixar numbers. Are you kidding me? I feel like frozen has such a strong following. I mean it, it definitely has a very strong following. But if you know we rewound to last year, and you asked me of all the Pixar movies, which is going to take the record Toy Story, a juggernaut of a franchise versus incredible. Which I knew had a big fan base was only one movie, I, probably at that point in time would put my money on Toy Story for you. But if you're if you're comparing to a story in frozen, I would have bet on frozen easily you probably would have been right. Because I've been reading I mean, there's a million and one thing pieces on what happened with Toy Story, four out there, and I believe it might have been the deadline piece. Yeah. It was. Line piece that note here, they had a small paragraph on the idea of a number two in a franchise versus a number four being able to do better. And given the fact that we're at frozen to maybe it's, you know, it's that thing where people have had enough of Toy Story movies, and they have not had enough of frozen movie. So who knows that could boost it up a little more than this one. We'll accept first trailers really dark and the second trailer was like, what is this all about great imagery? But what is it really about? So we'll see as this gets closer and closer to the marketing handles that I hear your point obviously, we have. I mean this is the time. This is the year of feet or last two years a female lead films when really well the box office. Captain marvel wonder woman, latch, what have you? It's been doing really well, we'll see if frozen does follows that trend as well. Or if people go, maybe this is something you said earlier, the idea of animation, there's no rush to go on CNN nation at the level that there was before. It's certainly possible. You just brought up something interesting that I didn't even consider it. Thank you. Appreciate you, you. I mean beau peep was a much stronger character this toy store than any other choice in any other Toy Story. That's come before it. Right. And I'm wondering female character. Wondering if I'm wondering if people are getting frustrated at all with the strong female characters coming out, and all these films, like, now, you took Toy Story, also. There is a minority contingent of those view. But every time we think that's happening that piece of media comes out and demolishes at the bar. Oh. Great. But I agree with you about the market thing earlier. I think the marketing was terrible for this. And in the end, I think it bit them in the ass, and maybe they'll stay around for a while and leg it out and make their money and do go. Yeah, they're really good shape. So when we go back to child's play, I think unfortunately, and I enjoy child's places where I am rooting for it..

"Get that paper boys, having issues with the voice, the voice acting right now. I would, you know, he's funny in the movie hit, but him and his mother, and they got some scenes where they're just they're just being funny. This guy's Larry's man. He's got some great delivery with lines and I, I wish they had done something more. What he looked like he was going to be close with Andy. Yeah. And they just kind of dropped that. But his his, you know, his back and forth with that kid Gabriel Bateman was was very, very good. Man. You know it's. I I'm on pass it on you guys, just, you know, I'm awfully my rating, but do not to give the movie credit with credit is due. It's fun. It's again at self-awareness almost to a fault. Sometimes self awareness goes a long way, when you know what you're doing. You know what you are. You know, you're not gonna top the, the, the Ridgely Nobile piss people up even being here, existing going to route, what you just want to make people laugh and you just wanna have a good time. That does go a long way in the movie regardless of what I'm saying. I did have some fun with it man in send up to having a beer, Meena Bergen. I'm you know and I'm just under two. Food for the burger out of a book bag man burger that Sneaked in. in. They gave you free food yesterday. It's funny too is that they asked you when food he's like meeting foodies. He acts like let me think about it, but the menu down and. Burgers. That's my point burger her bed. Get that whole Panama with the wind. I'm still thinking about what? That's up there looked to us like you look hard. He's ran his finger cups. Which one of these is your house, the pizza. I'll tell you what. Comeback on let you go. I, I didn't start inside and sneak are smuggled of Bergen. I might as well be bringing kilo cocaine. Shit that might as well have been a fucking mickan Mula coyotes. I brought I smuggled that shit in my bag bag all kind of Greece and juice. Well, yeah. A smuggle shit in, but I was I was eating my smuggled burger and having a good time I was like you know this as, as a movie that is nothing to take serious at all is easy to write off, say, for the moment. It's you know, I like you said, I could sit up here and try to nitpick on on certain things. Try to talk about how certain things don't make sense. And it doesn't get a pass on some of the things that just don't bother to like to to. Nomadic is magic our technology or south sapphire certain things that you just kind of have to tighten up your story with you just can't just say, always just because and not even you can't even blame it on the comedy. So there's certain parts where like I said leaning on that too much. But it is a fun film. And at some points, you can you can actually criticize it. In some point, you just kind of have to just let yourself go and go with this world that they created. What are you guessing? You're not going. Give your rating. You're right. I don't know where he's at. That's the thing because he's, he's all over. He's all over the place. A low rating. Right. I'm going to be a bitch. I'm gonna be a be a burger smuggling bitch. Well, we know that. What you got them. It is a fun movie. I, I have plenty of laughs in it, which is what you hope for, for one of these movies, or at least near as I can tell now I, I came in his not knowing India that history, you just lay down the competing studios. I've just figured this was all part of their whole one studio game plan. Interesting to defined out all that it makes sense about some things. But, you know, you wanna see them like this for some entertaining, some, some creative kills and that's all there, and then having characters who are funny, that makes you want to watch them and see where they go..

"Yes, is kind of I'm saying, man, you know, you gotta be careful. Now women day saying women are, you know, because at girls don't like blood anything. But you got to think about is what anybody is that your thing because there is an I'm glad you brought up because one of the things that they do here, that might please. Some people in both areas they got the kills down this thing is very gory. That's the only reason why with say you gotta know who you taking on a date because this. There's a lot of stuff that they do here that they like, they, they cut people open. They removing faces they doing a lot of what you see in the trailer. What you see the setup right? Here they followed through so on that end if you're going straight for the kills you want the blood, and you want the gore. That's the thing that, pleases, you got that I would be, you know, I shouldn't have been more clear about teenagers and twenty year olds. I'm sorry about that. Don't take your wife to this. If you're going, not a first date, you know, later piece. Okay. Okay. We did you take your big to see this. Yeah. Absolutely. Okay. All right. Sure. All right. They may be fucked up. I enjoyed it too much. That'd be lower. Litmus tests. And she got out when she was like that was awesome. Can we see that again? Yes, he's next. Don't bail. I will say that they do some things that make sense because I. When I saw the trailers, ease look at the trailer and say, you know what those mach one of my complaints, as dollars to the boys to guide them over that dog as our replies to move. That's a son Andy right there in the night in real life. But that's the movie and played by Gabriel Bateman. And, you know, you look at the trailing, she saying, you know, I want you to go out meet more kids up staying at home. Be cool. What she do get fucking doll. Now. That's what you see in the trailer. I'll go and look at the movie I was, like, all right. You know, something, it doesn't make sense with the setup from the very beginning, but it does make sense in context of the kid and his age and everything I thought his reaction to his reaction because even he's like fuck. I'm not a little kid while you buy. Yeah. Yeah, no, that's true Nashi. He actually he behaved like a kid who's, like fourteen or fifteen years on the phone, not supposed to do with this. Yeah. I thought that you know that may. Well, there's a lot of things that they show you what, the no matter how crazy setup is. They tried to make things within that make sense from at least against what I saw in the trailer a lot with the setup they balanced it with, with humor and things. Yeah. Like you said things that makes sense. I mean some of it, you go, like, I don't know..

"Tell you to leave me. I think chunky did something well what did you think? You know, I went to this film grading it because I thought the child of the child's play movies, as a whole were pretty dreadful. But this turned out to be better than I expected. It's not a great horror movie, but it's played almost as a comedy Chucky, this time around is not zest by the soul of a serial killer, he is. In fact, a defective. Dow, he's been sabotaged really by a worker at a plant who just been fired, and all of his of all of all of the devices within his chips that runs him that have been designed to keep him from doing bad things, and learn bad things. These have been removed and Chucky is no longer just a doll. Chucky is a sort of WI fi device that can take control of things throughout the house and throughout in effect the whole country and use other elements to do his. A ferris bidding, and he learns bad behavior. He's not naturally bad. He learns bad behavior from the people around him. This picture tries for a kind of gremlins vibe. If you remember gremlins from years ago, one of the better semi hor comic movie movies ever made. This gets a bit of that same spirit. And although the death scenes the murder season at a really pretty gruesome, even they are played for comedy comic effect of this is, as I say, not a great horror movie, but it has fun moments to it and a kid who plays the protagonist in the movie Gabriel Bateman is his name is really put through the ringer, but does it pretty good job? So while I can't recommend this movie overall for horror fans, I think it's one of the better oneself find this year. To be the to be the spokesperson for that goes funny. It's bloody, you're gonna love it. All right. Moving on got some high hopes for this because everybody loves Jim gaffe. Again, a great comedian and big TV star, now the movies called being Frank.

"Oh. Because he plays a cop. Yeah. He plays the role of a Cobb. But he's not. He's not saying he's not. But the same time there were times, I would hear his voice in here, the voice from spider-man's dad. Well, see him to so many things like a love a little bit Lanta. So you know, I'm always gonna see him as paper boy from less hose. Get. Gets a boy to get that paper boys, having issues with the voice, the voice acting right now. I would, you know, he's funny in the movie hit, but him and his mother, and they got some scenes where they're just they're just being funded. This guy's Larry's man. He's got some great delivery with lines just and I, I wish they had done something more. What he looked like he was going to be close with Andy. Yeah. And they just kind of dropped that. But his his, you know, his back and forth with that kid Gabriel Bateman was was rare. Very good, man. You know. It's I I'm on passing on the you guys, you know, I'm awfully my radio, but you not to give the movie credit, what credit is due. It's fun. It's again at self-awareness almost to a fault, sometimes self-awareness goes a long way, but you know what you're doing. You know what you are. You know, you're not gonna top the, the, the Ridgely Nobile, piss people off by even being here, existing going to route, what you just want to make people laugh, and you just want to have. A good time. That does go a long way in the movie regardless of what I'm saying. I did have some fun with it. Man. I'm having a beer Meena Bergen. I'm on. I'm just. Burger out of a book bag man burger that. They gave you free food yesterday. You should have bought is funny, too. Is that they asked me when food he's like many foods? He acts like let me think about it, but the menu down and. Burgers. That's my point on her bed. Get that whole Panama with the win. I'm still thinking about what? That they looked to us like you look hard. He's ran his finger. One of these is your faith is, how's the pizza? I'll tell you what. Comeback on. Let you go. I didn't start started sending us smuggled. Bergen MAs will be bringing kilo cocaine. Might as well have been a fucking Mexican Mula coyotes. I smuggled that shit in my bag bag all kind of Greece in. Smother that shit in. But I was I was eating my smuggled burger, and having a good time I was like you know this as, as a movie that is nothing to take serious at all is easy to write off for the moment. It's you know, I like you said, I can sit up here and try to nitpick on on certain things. Try to talk about how certain things don't make sense. And it doesn't get a pass on some of the things that just don't bother to like to to. Nomadic is magic our technology of south SAFA certain things that you just kind of have to tighten up your story with you just can't say always just because and not even you can't even blame it on the comedy. So there are certain parts where like I said it's leaning on that too much, but it is a fun film. And at some points, you can you can actually criticize it in some point, you just kind of have to let yourself go and go with this world that they created. What are you guessing? You're not going. Give your rating. You're right. I don't know where he's at. That's the thing because he's, he's all over. He's all over the place. Rating. Won't be a bitch. Be be a burger smuggling. Will we know that? Argument. It got them. It is a fun movie..

"No, it's, it's a perfect comedy. But I will say this. It's like I was thinking it's the perfect date movie because its bring a girl this man Chucky. Release your buddy in this thing because it's the horror element. You know. So you're scared, but there'd be laughing breaking the tension and it has a Aubrey plaza in it as well. So, you know, they'll hook you up. He's, but he's got your bag take a girl to this movie. That's what it's the comedy element is looking at me, and he, he said, he got to say that made no fucking sense. That makes sense. Well. Oh, rusty of another. Well. Perfect day movie, you don't think so with the horror element you bring a girl she's scared you get the comedy this weekend. Divorced. I've obviously not forty fifty year olds on your, your teenagers. Even Chuck, Chuck. You want me? This. That's. Don't maybe stranded over here. Don't make me to beg. Hey, man. His piece. Let's go see, let's go see the scary movies comedy movies. Okay. Never mind. I'll say this. I'm sorry, I'm on the you point of view now. I mean, he could be right for his demographic, no swatted him when I will say that because I've done this with girls, I, I'll even girl to cede Jurassic Park, too, and she got mad because of the violence in name. Yes, is kind of I'm saying, man, you know, you gotta be careful. Now women day saying women are, you know, because at girls don't like blood anything. But you got to think about is anybody is that thing because there is an I'm glad you brought up because one of the things that they do here, that might please. Some people in both areas they got the kills down this thing is very gory. That's the only reason why with say you gotta know who you take it on a date, because this, there's a lot of stuff that they do here that they like, they, they cut people open. They remove in face. They want a lot of what you see in the trailer. What you see shut does set up right here. They followed through so on that end if you're going straight for the kills you want the blood, and you want the gore. That's thing that please, you got that I would be, you know, I should have been more clear about teenagers and twenty year olds. I'm sorry about that. Don't take your wife to this. "We're going to have to see how this marketing campaign pans out. I mean is vendors endgame gonna make any money or no, I don't know. What's going to happen? We're moving onto our second story. And this is where we get into the trailer zone today. So earlier today, we got a brand new trailer for the new child's play movie. Of course, this upcoming movie is more of a reboot and restarts. The continuity and introduces us to highly advanced dolls outfitted with cutting edge AI that. Are branded buddy the film opens June twenty-first, and it stars Aubrey Aubrey plaza. Gabriel Bateman Brian Terry Henry. And of course, Mark Hamill is the new voice behind Chuckie silence. We'd have really spoken about this child's play movie before. So I m curious where do you stand on this movie existing at all while the other series is still going on? And then to what is trailer for you. I have such mixed feelings. I like. Like. Israel is great. I think that if I did not know what child's play was. And I saw this trailer. I would say, oh that looks really fun, and I love Mark Hamill voice of a killer doll. I also kind of feel like, well, I just wish it had the blessing of Mark Hamill, the nicest guy in the world, it's hard for you. And we believe there was never a conversation with Brad Durham saying I'm gonna take takeover for this one at the same time. I think we've seen a lot of horror movies that have had reboots while franchises are still going, and it doesn't necessarily disrupt things. I'm still a little sour on it. I mean, it's again, I go what you said. I liked the trailer. I liked the other trailer. I don't think they're bad by any means. It's just until I mean, I guess at this point. It's just until I see the movie, and I see that this is something that's any good. It's just really difficult to wrap my brain around them stone making what I've been having a lot of fun with for less few years. And then this existing as well. And the one thing that threw me about the trailer. Because when you when you said it at the beginning that whether you know child's player not you can jump into this. I was wondering if anybody found the one confusing detail to be the fact that that they brand everything buddy. And then the kid refers to the dollars Chucky. I mean, yes, we know that kids named toys and stuff. But I would have thought there would have been a moment where he picks up. This clearly branded buddy toy and says, I'm gonna call you Chucky something like that. Integral part of the movie they didn't want to blow it in the trailer. Who knows now? Well, yeah. I mean, it's if it's anything like the the reasoning behind the name and the original. Yeah. What makes you wonder is? Mark Hamill going to be in the movie as a person, then has his personality. Put in this doll by some means. That's a good question. I don't know what their what their production time line was. And I imagine there were re-shoot opportunities anyway. But that would be really cool if he showed up in the flesh. No. Because I remember them talking about remaking chopping mall, and they're like, but there's not going to be robots this time. And it's like why? And now it seems like they just took the chopping mall plot and put it into child's play. Chucky. A or I mean, we didn't really get to see him like embrace AI in this trailer, but more so, you know, I guess he's connected to all of your your in home entertainment. Now, I think it works. I think it's actually kind of has gremlins vibe to me in the trailer. I think in part because of the Christmas scenes in a in a shopping mall. But. There is something with gremlins where they get into the machinery and they make everything go haywire. And it seems like now Chucky is doing the same thing with WI fi. I've never been one of the biggest fans of the child play series. So for me seeing this trailer. I got excited I liked it. I think it's inventive one of the migrated spheres. As is so to see being consummated by doll doll being inventive that he's able to connect to all these different devices. And it does say it's a kind of small little commentary about are needed dependence on technology now that we all have for the most part how that could be manipulated to destroy us. You know? And so I like that aspect of it. Oh, Mike, my only negative about the trail to me is that didn't hear Mark Hamill voice. Hardly at all. And so I would like to hear more of him as as Chucky in this trailer. But overall, I don't know if the laws that thing is a little we look like that child could beat or child because you look younger, so I have to accept that. But overall, it's nice to have her in the movie is interesting take to ever in the movie. So it'll be fun. But the my favorite shot is all four those young kids with weapons going. We're going to take on Chucky. That is exciting. There's a lot about this trailer. That for me was I actually am now excited to see it for this trails that was the part where I got different vibes where the movie basically said to me beyond Chucky to point out. We're not going to stick to every specific thing that happened in the original or anything like that. We're going to try something different. Then again, and this might be because I just had a conversation with Haley about the overabundance of eighties style. Joe right now, I see that. And I'm thinking, oh now they're trying to be stranger things. Also, what's happening here? Again. This is probably just all coming from me being super skept skeptical about this movie existing from the start. But I'm staying open minded again when you get people like Aubrey plaza and Brian Tyree. Henry, Mark Hamill automatically. I have more faith in a movie like this. So I am just praying that they see it through to the finish. And it winds up being a nice surprise. I'm assuming we're getting another trailer before the June twenty-first release, and I would imagine at that point. They would make a big show out of Mark Hamill voicing Chucky. I thought they would have done that the first trailer after the announcement with this one. But hopefully, we get that in the next couple of weeks. I would imagine it's also so crazy that this movie is coming out opposite Toy Story. Four. Andy was the name of the kid in the original child's play. But it's weird to it's still Andy except this time the toys are trying to murder him. I hope someone out there does some sort of trailer. Mash, I like, I don't know what you can reasonably mash up at this point. But there seems like a great opportunity to get creative on June twenty. All right. We got another trailer to cover right now. And I so I can't believe this one. So we have a new trailer for Hobson Shaw and this movie looks at bat shit. Crazy. Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason stadiums. Deckert shot team up for director, David Leach in this one movie also stars Vanessa Kirby. Idris Elba and Helen Mirren and it hits the on August second twenty nineteen Roka police home, you love the trail. I love those trailer. But you showed me too much. You're showed me too much. I want to be surprised by the stunts. I see in the trailer. We had the captain America moment where he's hanging onto the helicopter. So you could see his bicep. That was great the raw coming home. I know we've seen pictures of that already. So that, but I don't need to see the hookah this early. Wait, wait, or the hawker wait till the movie all that kind of stuff. So I really loved the show excited me even more to see where we're going to see in the movie black superman and all that was really great Vanessa Kirby. Getting some scenes now. Was really great Hellum earn getting a shot. They're in prison. But that whole sequence where the where Jason Statham is going through all those different henchmen, and the rockets is walking through a knocks over one, dude. That's the vibe of the that's basically the movie, so if you're going in this looking for any kind of realism and kind of like what's going to don't want all that out the window? This is just going to be a balls out a lot of fun. And that's that. But I think they showed way too many action sequences in this trailer for me, but it's a fast and furious off. So why wouldn't show of that action? So I get why they did it just for me. I don't want to have it all ruined in the trailer before I go see it on the big screen. Absurd. But I love and I found it funny that I reacted so positively to it because when I saw fast and periods eight I mean, not that the movies that came before that one weren't outlandish degree. It's just like it felt like eight crossed the line a little, and I wasn't on board as much. I mean, this is absolutely nuts. And you make a good point that there is a chance that they showed too much in this is that they show too much in this or they have more set pieces than we've ever seen before a single says imperious movie, but I will tell you this thing started and within seconds of the footage beginning I was I was mesmerized I had a big grin on my face. I cannot believe the kick I got out of this trailer and not even just the rock and Jason state. The my loved watching Vanessa Kirby kick gas, and I liked Helen Mirren's bid. It looks like eaters elbows having the time of his life in this. And it kind of all just like radiates offscreen in a way that makes me have fight re. Really the whole in samba looks like they are living it up to the max in this movie. And that's the feeling I kind of want to have in a Hobson Shaw spin off. I totally agree with both you I love the trailer. I do think it's too much there. My hope is that it's just such a bombast movie that that's a tiny tiny, God help us all. God help us all the the weirdest thing for me in this though is the the rocks family into moving because the fasten franchises always had that family backbone and fast inferiors, fate of the fears was the one that did sort of like not entirely work for me. And the reason was because of Deckert Shaw. It's like when you look at these movies. It's like one two four five six seven three and then eight so Tokyo, drift just happened. Shaw just killed Han. And he's invited to the cookout. And it's it's a little lame because for a film that has touted family being the ultimate important thing. You just invited a guy that killed one of your family to come eat with you for not really any reason whatsoever. I feel like. And this might not be true for every hardcore fast and furious fan. But as as someone who doesn't know the specific super, well and doesn't necessarily revisit all of the movies often. I feel like the divide for me happened at five it was almost like an unspoken not necessarily a reboot. But like a revitalization to me where like I mentally don't process that in the story, for whatever reason, I don't know if that makes any sense, it's just naturally when I watched it. I feel like I'm not judging him as hardcore as I should be because I've separated things the rock and didn't five was to essentially soften boot the franchise because the sense that the franchise was going down financially. And so they bring the rock in everything happening. A new director in the revitalizes the whole franchise, and they can mess with the story lines a little bit and not necessarily come back to the situation with decker. And you cast someone like Jason Statham who has the what do you got has the? Personality the charm did let you get over the fact that he killed Han. I wonder overall though, whether this is kind of a shot. This is an interesting mom because he's essentially taking over dumb thing, which is about family and making it about the rocks family. And of course, you have Jason state them's family in that his sister's involved with this stuff and his mom. But now, we have the rocks family going back to his roots. Which is what Dom did in the first movie going back to his route. So it's just an interesting thing. Wait silhouette Han dies in integrates. And then they re they revisit it later. Don't then then four five six and seven are all like, it's like all free qu'ils to three. Yeah. All the pieces are kind of coming back. That was a dress more recently. We're maybe I should feel like more more affected by that. I don't really weird because. Within the fiction of the of the films. They're more sad that Paul Walker's. Character is gone, and he just laughed and it's like, well, nobody one of your friends actually died. He just decided to stop hanging out with you. I get it. I get it. It's it's a lot. I want someone to just like who you want to volunteer for this Rocca, just like all the fast and furious movies right out of big explainer. And then just like catch everybody up to speed on a proper time line. Don't do that. All eight movies. Let's say because this trailer. I mean, it's pretty clear it made a huge huge impression on me. What happens if Hobson Shaw hits the IRS, and it is just like I mean like a runaway success. Do you think that could impact fast and furious nine and just like the proper series at all? Yes. I mean, I think fast. Always going to be around as a brand. I do think that maybe it's time to shake up the the main series or even ended. I think franchises always make a ton of money by saying this is the last time everyone's coming together, maybe do that. And do a couple fastened fears presents for a while. Do you think it could end before nine even gets off the ground or are they too far along with nine to put a stop to it? I think they'll I mean, I think they'll at least wait until they see some it may be that Hobson shelters boosts nine. Yeah. The rock won't be in it. That's the thing. I don't think the rocks going to be a nine or ten. I think they'll definitely do nine and ten he. Meaning he made a statement about that in January to see what been diesel can do with nine and ten if the rock supplants him, which is VIN. Diesels greatest fear than the rock takes this franchise and goes in this direction with Hobbs in Shaw because that man can work with anybody. It can work with anybody on screen, chemistry wise. And so you go through this is the path. Maybe they'll do a presents. But I I don't know how many presents you're gonna spin off that that have the personality of the rock in state them to carry you. So it would be surprising that you don't wanna see ludicrous with his own movie or the other do the two other dudes the two other to Latino guys Jew who jank those cars like there's not a lot of people with the personality of the rock that will that can spin off into its own branch. And so I don't see that happening. Besides the rock, but then then should be scared here because the rock could absolutely supplant him as the alpha dog in this series. That's imply we wouldn't be surprised. We we've seen so much behind the scenes of really getting along. There's something kind of fun about making that the plot of Hobson Shaw where it's like, oh, they they hate each other.

"gabriel bateman" Discussed on Now Playing - The Movie Review Podcast

"I'll say this though i'm going to really credit this film talat the bateman as janice n moment of trivia she's the sister of gabriel bateman who was the little boy robert in the first annabel film o k nepotism i know her as the star of nine lives of movie it which kevin spacey gets reincarnated as a cat that sounds fab brown ero it no it wasn't even funny surprisingly not even litter box brown but i think she and linda are really incredible actresses because i don't have kids i don't have a whole lot of fond memories of being a little kid i found kids what i was that age to be mean and so it wouldn't take much to turn me against this group of orphans just in total and be like yet demon eat the mall but talent the bateman a lulu wilson have a genuineness and a natural less and acuteness that makes me really liked them en route for them there are actually two little girls who i like if they were routed real life i would enjoy conversing with them in the fact that there to against the world their best friends the way they introduce it to us we don't know that janice it has a disability that they're just sitting on the bus saying we're not going to be adopted unless we can be adopted together instantly this movie pulls me in and makes me root for them and honestly i'm a hard sell for that.
