"Oh yeah taking question. I mean i think what is like how i frames my article too. It wasn't you know. I think there's this very real like outside perception about nascar that it's kind of like flow to progress in florida change and you know very rooted in the south which is true but i think just the fact of like we all how nimble the fort was the season and you know how progressive it really was sort of like dynamic. "India's was are all by any stretch. There are a lot of tires us up and down the road and. Those tires? Sometimes, it's way goes but. Bristol. and. Richner late so And I would just realize that this race teams in essentials. and. It's about capitalizing on that because. Some great ones put together Really long runs with Chad and Timmy. And the Rodney, Kevin Ataman. Kyle and you know I'm not, I'm not in that category. But what I'm saying is that magic is not easy. and. We right now we're just looking capless and Mr Gabe heart talks about his driver. Denny. Hamlin break down part dose. Well, I think he would take. I think he would tell you it takes everything You know so so I'm sure you know you gotta give credit to everybody. Right? You gotta give Credit Fedex and Joe Gibbs racing and Toyota at all these guys and certainly denny's wealth of experience it's brought into this stage of his career. And I and I think he believes in his race team and that puts him ease. You know all great athletes. Really and truly want to do it. And a lot of ways on their own. They want them to be the differentiator between winning and losing. But this is a team sport as a million moving pieces every week to to give A. Platform that he needs to make that the case. And I think he knows he's got that L.. every single week. If. We xq he's don't have a shock land and he knows it and I think that puts him at mind. So that's a that's a bummer for him and you'd think someone of Matt Kenseth stature renewable to wheel a race car while it's been so weird like He finished second at the brickyard, but then he's had so many out to lunch runs as well. I know a lot of it is this weird package that he never ran him before. Also steph man. It's just so weird to see him so far off some weeks but then he'll have like a run like the brickyard who second so. But he's in the top thirty points. If he gets a win somehow magically he's in the playoffs. Joey Logano later on hit the wall. Hard. Causing a huge wreck involved Austin, Dillon Matt Benedetto and others Jimmy Johnson. I was trying to skip over that because I bad memories. Oh, well, I, wanted to make sure we mentioned it Yeah. This is not a good season so far now it's been pretty bad for Jimmy Johnson I noticed. Yes bad wanted to go out on seems yeah. But you know the last three or four or five I don't know how long it's been but. Hasn't been good either. Well. Yeah. But if he keeps coming back eventually gotTa have one good one and go kid go out on. You know you'd think that's all I want is one at this point, go out on top man, just one win. He should have dropped the MIC after the two thousand, sixteen championship season just yeah. When he came from nowhere and won that race in the end Edwards crashed with Llegado that that should have been, he should just drop the MIC and said peace. Yup pulled a Seinfeld. That would be cool. Yeah. It would have been instead of enduring all this pain. 'CAUSE even that year, they weren't very good for most of the season. But had a couple of wins got into the in the playoffs and. Just kind of salvage their way work their way through each around and wants to got to the. Time for that playoff championship race there at home said even started dead last I. Think they had like unapproved adjustments or something started last was. Worst of the four playoff guys all day long. And then towards the end, he just came alive and. You, kind of are wondering why we're not seeing any more of that sense. Then on an extra restart, that was a crazy violent crash. Ryan Preece also, Ryan Newman and Christopher Christopher also involve isn't priests also horny. Yeah he is, and so for him to telling you, Brad. Had to go get a job. For him to walk away from that, though is impressive. That was a vicious, just vicious crash. and we saw several of those at Kansas this week in the Arca race, the the truck racer, the extent of the race, and there was expending race where we saw it as well. So it was kind of a recurring theme. Every Kansas raise, we were seeing this violent crash. and Luckily everybody walked away from it this weekend. But man that was that was very, very scary. He looked more angry than injured. Yes. I isn't man I hope he gets out of that car and he gets out of the Car Mike. Okay He's out and he's mad even to even went back for his mask. I in the presence of mind. That's impressive. Actually that was I made note of that. These guys are like Nascar. them ask he goes right back forward after that kind of a hit. That's impressive. And ALICA Vanna for Fox sports is joining us as well and you know we head up to New England, and New Hampshire this weekend for the Solo, Cup race the metaphor, Doley race on the schedule this week, and among the three National Series Allen. Kyle Busch finally won a stage last week hard to believe it took him this long into the season to win a stage, and now that he's won a stage. Is he ready to win a race? Kyle, Busch, he's been ready the whole time, right? Whether it's a performance thing whether it really is a practicing in that he is mentioned before about you know, he's really good at communicating and things in I, I don't know I mean I. It's a lack of anything certainly right I mean. When you look at the charts, they are not as fast as the other car that will hinder you and hinder your ability to take advantage of anything really right. I mean if you're not. For second third or fourth and I'm one of those final restarts because you don't have the fastest faster car, you can't win for me so I. Mean you're Kinda limiting kyle busch's ability to do what he does naturally. If you don't have the factor cars right now, so hopefully, they are progressing getting better. Maybe that's that stage. When shows US but how? Bush's certainly ready at attract New Hampshire where he's one before I think he's last, he finishes or read the a second I. I mean you can do it. And before like he had one, but he had this championship. If Kyle Busch finished second in homestead, I mean we're talking far more than a year long winless streak and no championship, right? It's just. He happened to wind would. was his timing impeccable because now? The defending champion and the winless streak, not so bad, but you know heading into that homestead race. He you know he wasn't lighting. The world on fire have been bad half of. One and now it's been more than have since he won and Yeah, one second place finish at homestead and the entire conversation. We're having Kyle Busch. Now it's ten times worse, so we have to put that in perspective in terms of speed law, and then Danny wins homestead this year. Just the wrong one, yeah! Around homestead too late. Exactly the thing is you. Look at what's going on. You know in the series this year and I mean you know last year? We had at New Hampshire. Harvard Battling Hamlin for the win and this year it has been. Harvick and Hamlin running up front. It seems like just about every single week battling for Wednesday. They've got nine wins between them this year. Then he's got five Kevin's got four. In a we had that two week break so to speak with you know. Cole custer winning with Austin Dillon win in and people said okay. them. But now we're right back to it again last week with Harvick and Hamlin battling for the win again. What do those guys have or what have they found? Do you think that nobody else has been able to find? That that's impossible to say I, mean the the speed there, so and the good decision making there so i. put that on crew chief, right Chris Gabe Heart, rubbing shoulders I think, both in the world on fire, in terms of what's between their ears brainpower right now and the cars that they're building are are really fast. Denny Hamlin has he likes to say on my on a positive podcast motorsports analytics is David Smith. Age, thirty nine right, he's in the prime of his career and Arbat what he's doing. Just statistically, what an outlier right now especially for driver of his age I mean he tells me he's driving better than he ever had. That's because of the mentality one other thing without cracked it. What do you do you rely on what you have right and I think in. In on the Harvard side of at least we're sting the benefit of being together for six seven years right, I mean whether it be the trust that preparation the death vaccine. How long they been together they can roll off the truck and half success without all that practice because they do. They've been doing it for years I. Mean I think that is a major benefit? That that it's kind of showing itself when some teams don't have practice, but ones that are going to benefit from the most are these guys that have been together the longest lean on their springs which they clearly have. that's funny because you think about as good as Dinnie has been Brad. He's won five races, but it's still just fourth in points. Well that's true. My big off season. Curiosity with Hamlin really was. Could he make a repeat of what he did last year and I think he has but remember. We talked about this earlier. They got really soft. They're when it came to the Kentucky's in Texas, and those you know not much tire, wear mile and a half kind of tracks. It seems like they just weren't there as strong as they had been before. Maybe even a little bit before that even but then they come back. Kansas energised knocking out of the park again, though going to be interesting to see. Allen, you get, you got to kind of put your feet up this weekend and watch it on TV. I do I will adam going New England the trucks. Just don't go there like they used to. But I will be a wishing I was there. Certainly from afar, people have lost a great time of year up there, even though people think I mean just because it's new. England and won't get hot. It will be hot there I assure you may not be like ninety nine in Charlotte, but it will be hot up in New England, so just enjoy it. That's right. You'RE NOT GONNA. Miss much because unless they have takeout lobster. People aren't going to be enjoying it this time because the entire industry is being barred from dining restaurants. Not just. The racine I mean the air This is gonna I think this is going to challenge some of these guys, but it's you talk about drivers that are in shape of years ago, they used to. They used to talk about guys. Not Be all race car. Drivers are an athletes is sit there and buddy. Baker said Yeah Fine. Roll up the window your car. Turn off the air conditioning drive to Myrtle beach in the middle of summer. You tell me you're not an athlete. It's going to be hot. It's going to be challenging and there are some guys out there. I mean Jimmy. Johnson's one of them Austin Dillon Tyler rettig. These guys really need to kind of in here if they expect to make the playoffs right. Yeah, no, certainly I think you know as we're talking about before I think Jimmy Johnson story is is something that I've been following, but you know I do think Texas could be a good opportunity he's he's got a bunch of race wins there. I mean Kevin. Hart makes the most recent winner got Denny Hamlin with a bunch to, but you know Jimmy Johnson knows that track. Any is one of these guys. Despite his age, he is one of these guys that super in shape and able to handle the heat. After his positive Cova test, there was a call with him. Last week and you mentioned how after his to negative test around, he did his usual bike rided. You know ten thousand plus foot elevation which he does every morning, so. Use. It, you know he's certainly. If you're talking about like the health of some of these drivers, hell out, okay out on a on a very hot track. You Know He. He's one that you could bet on for that race. Brandon. I don't think we go into these races now. We don't think that much anymore about. The driver's health or the course of the right, and not not that we're not concerned about it but I don't think it becomes a factor much anymore. I don't know you know. Remember Jimmy Johnson. could barely stand after his last Texas win. Remember Casey Cain after his brick yard. When these are very in shape, skinny guys you could barely talk, and we've seen it time and time again. I think what they've really learned. Is that hydration well ahead of time is the big key for something like this and even though it might be a little more humid for Dallas Fort Worth. It's still really not going to be that human and I do think that's. That's also one of the big factors Brennan gone set one look US fat guys. We're just fine, you know. We got plenty of insulation and so skinny guys. You need to worry about when things get too too hot out there, but and that's something that they're going to have to think about a lot is making sure and here's another thing, too. Is Like Ryan? Blaney might set it on his podcast. That's done through NASCAR that you know. Here's the different, so we're not spending. Friday and Saturday kind of getting into weekend racing shape. We're showing up racing. You know so. There's a little bit less of that kind of in-car training force than what we've always had. An Alex, as you talked to the different drivers in and crews. As they get to. Brad's point is to get ready for this stuff. You know they're showing up on race day, but they're also in a situation now. Where without the practice without the qualifying? Our teams having a difficult time improving their product improving their individual teams, because they're not getting practice and qualifying time. It yeah. That question's been asked to especially the crew chiefs. Guys, Chris Gabe heart was someone who answered a question similar to this, especially how it was just playing out without the practice and qualifying how it was playing out with bigger teams versus the smaller teams, and he sort of said that what what the bigger teams are lacking right now with that, you know the qualifying practice rounds is just the chance to optimize their cars and get a free things. Ready. Drivers that are veterans. They've been there they. They know exactly what they need. And without that chance for practice they have just. There's a little bit less room for error immediately. I, it's tough to say. I think how how teams will adapt to this, but you start I. Think what we've seen is just the pattern of a drivers that have been consistently good, because their equipment has been consistently good just off the off the truck. They're ready to go in. Their teams have kind of gotten it right right off the Bat Any wonder if if it's just a matter of like hitting it right in everything plays out. Unical cluster mentioned that after his last one was just every everything came together. The right strategy is very time. They took top lane and yet his equipment right from start I mean you know. Who knows if it's going to get closer to go on, but you know you also can't town out some of these drivers that have this it early. You know there's still nine races left so that's still an opportunity for anyone to go out. And Win it off the bat.

"Ryan our guest. Today is Chris Gabe Heart Kerchief for Denny Hamlin's number eleven Fedex Toyota. Chris is in his second season with Denny last year. They reached the championship. Round in addition to winning the Daytona five hundred together. They stayed unbeaten in the Great American race to start twenty twenty as well but then a month into the season all that momentum was halted by the Kovic Nineteen pandemic. Which of course is put life on pause not just for. Nascar but for all of us as we know it in the meantime of course there is. I racing the Pro Invitational Series continues this Sunday Dover on Fox. Nfs One and the INDYCAR. I recent challenge will conclude Saturday with the series finale at Indianapolis Motor speedway. That'll be on at two thirty PM. Eastern on NBC `Send Denny. Hamlin won the opening race of the pro invitational at homestead Miami. Speedway he's a very accomplished. I racing driver and team owner and his crew. Chief also has a history in I racing and real Racing Chris. Gay Part was a super late model. Racer of some renown and one prestigious race in Nashville before he got into crew chief full-time. He remains an avid. I racing fan on the side. Owns Assim Rig and has been practicing on I racing lately with Denny in this conversation. You're about to hear Chris. Great insight into how drivers and Kuchis Cup can use. I racing to stay sharp together during this extended layoff from racing and for those who recall the last episode in which Parker Klugman and I talked about the wonders of twitch. Chris Gephardt has a very interesting perspective. He's learned a lot about his driver. Denny Hamlin by watching his which channel. It's fascinating stuff and I think you'll enjoy hearing a crew. "Heard of that. Make an average wage to operate on a race team. They are not baseball players or football players on the field right. There are all these team members race team. That are there to do their job but in the end if any of them you know we hear hail thank the guys the shop. Thank the team and I think we hear it so often we take it for granted. Will here you go there. And and and and May this sport never be in a position where we don't have that sports ever in a position. Shen where you don't have more people than just a driver in this situation where pitstops matter where pit crews matter. That's what this sports always been about. It is a huge dude part of this sport and I hope that never changes because that's in the very fabric. This sport is about. We claim to be a team. Sport will it is winning losing we. Just it's not. It's not just about the driver nor is it just about the quarterback nor is it just about the best player on a basketball team. The Guy on the bench was yelling time out time out and Chris Webber called it. Who was that to this day? We don't know we do know what happened because as everybody said they heard it. Yeah but to this day. We don't who that person was in same thing here right. There's things that happened behind the scenes that make these things happen and one one or two people are in the center of it. There's always a backstory. Let's talk about the other. Joe Gibbs racing mistake that cost the eleven a championship bid. This was more of of a calculated. Mistake Chris Gebhardt makes a decision last pit stop of the race to put an extra very large thought piece of tape on the Front Grille Real and essentially the the way the analogy here is he took the ball Denny Hamlin hands and put it in the hands of a backup point guard. He ever he essentially said you know we. We haven't asked one one of our tire carriers to slap a gigantic piece of tape on the Front Grille during twelve seconds of frenzy but during the seasons most important pit stop. We're going to do it because we think it's worth an extra a tenth tenth of a second maybe to catch Kyle Busch because we don't we can do it if we don't do this. So the goal was if you look at the nose of then eleven car. There were multiple pieces of tape that have been applied throughout time and they were all starting learned to flip up so the size of that tape was to repair some of the issues and to add a little tape. The point is the most important part of a crew chief in my mind. My jaw was to who provide a vehicle and a plan to allow my superstar. which is the race car driver and always will be to show me his talent? Our Bill Belichick. If they're on offense you give Tom Brady the ball simple as that. You Win in die you win and lose your best player are that's how you should do. And the best player on the eleven gotTA holds the wheel. He's a superstar. And I feel that I understand the call. I think that the aggressive nature of Chris Gabe heart calculated approach the little bit of of I appreciate because that's how they won six races. And that's I got got here but I think this is one. He wishes he would have back. Because I think you have to make a call that if executed poorly doesn't injure night and that was one that there was has no margin for error -CCOMPLISH the same advantage with a much smaller piece of tape put anywhere on the grill and if he does it wrong. We don't get the advantage but we're still in the game and this was Kinda there was no bailout. So this is why this why like mystique. Because he and I have a different point of view so yes us you give you give Brady the ball okay but if you got to work on the ball before he gave it the Brady would if you got to make the ball the way you can make it to give Brady the best opportunity to do what he needs to do you do that. And that's what separates this sport from every other sport. No other sport. Do you get the players. There's and the equipment you gotTa have the best. You GotTa have the best driver and the best car right all the sport do we do this. That's why it makes more complicated so I agree with him. Give him on the ball but you gotta give him a ball that says fast or it's got to be faster than the ball. That's in front of you. Because he was behind he was over two seconds behind. How are you going to catch cow? Bush two seconds ahead of you. I didn't see any evidence. They had the car quick enough. I have to do it. There was one time in. That run were Dinnie was quicker but then then kyle started pulling back away so I think this was clearly a mistake. I mean clearly clearly a combination of of the tape being put in the wrong place asking today I gotTa do this and this is clearly a mistake but I don't. I think that the lead in wins this race unless they do something big. I don't think there's enough speed and wasn't all night so so I think that they they. They tried to hard. They try too hard. I'll give you that but I it's a mistake that shouldn't happen but the first mistake Esam seconds unforced at this was not. This was a just was forced air so I ought to have the speed of the eighteen. But on top of the pillbox was an unforced error. So I so I take that position. -sition like Vada is he is. He trusted his guy. He had a guy that he trusted could get it done the way he wanted to. was that too much of an expectation clearly clearly. But that's that's why that's why Stephen I work. Yeah I mean I just feel you know I I. It's unfortunate would sideways. I think at that point you have have worked thirty five weeks and ninety percent of a race to have a shot when the last thirty five laps in your two seconds behind with not a laboratory to go there still thirty five laps to go a lot happen. I just feel you know I. Just don't I just don't like the call I don't like the Guy I don't like making a call that can take you out of the race. And that's what he did. I know second guessing. Do you think on the part any when he seemed okay with it. Like you said Steve. He said this is how we won races all year. This is why Chris gave her the championship around this kind of aggression but he was really fast last and final word that they're they're just clearly ago. Second guessed you have won the race. Do you think if the deceased point instead of getting better the cooler track gut. I thought so too but I I think Chris gave our believes that as well. Yeah so so we don't know. That's Steve Said federally or that. He thought that we missed a great race. Because of these issues and I agree with that what would have happened if the tires hadn't got a reverse. What would have happened if the tape hadn't got put on the we don't know but but it's easy to pick out the decision made in Miami but if he's not that same guy they might not be there? I don't know yeah right the hell is this car. Have a twelve second lead of Phoenix. Apparently something much faster than his teammates. So you can't take one without the other but but if I'm gonNA analyze a single situation I think it was a very poor judgment by the leader of the group but it clearly in world. Yeah let's clear. I'm not throwing stones right like I say that as somebody who's WHO's crew chief to three hundred or four hundred aces and made a lot of judgment errors so you know now. We're not picking on him. It's so hard I think crew chiefs jobs are under appreciated. Because I don't care how good your drive is and Kevin Harvick says. A great driver won't take a bad car and win with right. He's right so so so I as a driver and going to always be complaining to him when you own on leading by six seconds. I'm still telling him what is wrong with the car. He provided me to drive. No one's like this pervert lot it's great killing lands easy. No ma'am stuff skin-tight. Oh you gotta fix that your brother. Yeah you know like like so. They'RE GONNA make some changes to improve short-track racing next year. What do we see for this title race? Next year I think the title race should move consistently. Okay there's too much on the line in one race to go to a track that can suit one star more than the others. I just think that in the realm of these superstars career the title race should move move. The caveat is I think when it moves to extract the entire playoff lineup should move there should be a set that goes together so there should be Miami looking the playoffs. There should be a phoenix looking playoffs. Listen I don't care where it is other than it has to be in a weather place at the fans. Decide to come out too. So I'm no meteorologist whether that's Vegas Texas Texas Miami Phoenix I'm not okay with Daytona. I think a plate race would be a little bit to absorb exorbitant to try to think we're going to settle this but there's four or five tracks cracks that I think we owe it to the different markets. The different fans the super bowl moves so every fan can find a way there. I think we owe it to the fan base to do the same thing and owed to the competitors for the right. Yeah next next year is very short track minded. If you look at the cutoff races you look at the race right Martinsville Short track and road course right. They're very. It's very geared to that and because of that changes had to be made there you see. He felt talked about it The owners can't stand in the way of this. The owners going to need to back just to see changes boiler downs. You've gotta do something. Short short-track racing has not been. We've got bristles cutoff rates. The role was the cutoff race. Martinsville's Cutoff Race Phoenix as a championship race. It's very short-track minded. Those cars better be cars that can put on the counter races that justify moving the schedule to look like this. Because this guy who was moved for reason because the fans fans like short-track Raisin but the short tracks need to be really good race in the have the schedule so NASCAR recognizes it drives recognize it. Success helps a lot of this right if he goes out there and runs bad. They're like yeah well maybe should have been up to one in the morning but you get to a point where I mean. He's done this a long time. He's almost forty years old. He's won a lot of races. I don't think we can. I don't think it's fair. Appear to press judge how he decides to prepare this point. It's easy to question a younger driver who hasn't found their way. Then had you know we talk about the the disappointment of the Chamie. Amy Chip that got away. That was nine years ago. You know it wasn't one or two. Yeah there's a lot of races in nine years almost three hundred races. He's run since then and I don't think he he has a problem talking about got it. Yeah this is what I did. He doesn't have a problem talking about it. All Actually WanNa get to that and gave heart heard what Denny Hamlin said Friday to us in the media center essentially saying. Hey I'm okay. Hey with being the new Mark Martin. I'm okay we don't win a championship this year. I expect to win one. I want to win one but if I get labeled ended my career as best actor driver best driver driver maybe never to win a championship. Like Martin I'm okay with that and gave heart Kinda took a little bit umbrage that and said wait a second like and this is where I think. He's got this belief in him that I I think Dale Jr. that change that and change the direction of that team. It feels like gave heart. Did this year and you yes it helps when you open the season by winning a Daytona five hundred. But what's it like. I guess for crew chief to hear that I appreciate the candor from Denny Hamlin on one hand and that ability to be secure and himself but on the other hand you probably want him to say. Hey of course or something to be angry if I finished the career without championship right and most important is I just want to drive their no that it's more than the race fans listening. You know his his team. Here's that his competitors here that the people he's GonNa have to raise with and against here that. Yeah so you know I. I think we're down. I had so much success as we preached authenticity. I am not Chad. I talk a lot more A little bit easier going. I don't have perhaps the same sort of Straightforward fired up demeanor in the garage area. You know it's a different approach. which and it took me years of my career to appreciate that? That's okay I can be me. I can't be a better version of Chad. He is the first version jabs. The Guy Right right and I think that's that's what gave heart saying and that's what Denny's saying and that's what down I learned about each other's this this authenticity of let's celebrate what we have for. Strengths let's admit what we have for weaknesses Mrs. Let's truly admit it so we can work on it. And that's what I see out of the eleven. Is that the areas where I thought they were weak. They run up front more they are more prepared in practice. The feedback feedback looks instantaneous. They they improve their cars so whatever magic that gave her and Danny have found together. It's working and it's going to be I said this for it's it's impressive so the Daytona five hundred is bigger than anything I've ever been a part of and I was thankful I was able to win one. As a crew chief in Denny has won two. Is the driver yet. I feel the Phoenix Wind was the biggest one of his career. And I don't hold that I qualified that because I don't want to you know people think it's easy to say. No no I know. Oh what. He's one I've seen the resume and I don't think it would have been that big. If he would have had a good Texas and came in twenty four points up in Phoenix. Dad No big deal. I mean you know it's a good win but we'll just put that kind of in the list but the fact that he self admittedly made a mistake at Texas by himself. There's no one else around him. Starting right away. It wasn't the track too slick. It wasn't this was not one time. Did you hear what the grass needs to be fixed at Tora. Micah all of the no ways that could have very easily cluttered the quotes they didn't he said. Yeah I messed up. If it's GonNa take a win then we'll win guaranteeing but more stating the fact that that he was going to bring everything thing he could bring to the table and I I was impressed. It was not straightforward. They lost track position. A couple times Martinsville they lost. It never regained it at Phoenix they lost it and he meandered ended his way back to the front and it was like he was mentally ready. When that's final stage flu he was gone? The first stages you saw good eleven but nobody jumped out and said going to be great and there was a moment in time they green flag that final stage and I think it was like okay no more guaranteed yellows no more points. No more BS. We are about one hundred and something laps from a trophy by and he drove to a twelve second lead. Yeah of course the Ghana or the gunman's problems had something to do that as well. I WANNA get to that but I. I just wanted to put a bill on on the game in tire decision. I feel like Martinsville Phoenix had been hit or miss for US Texas has been mainly miss so I like to think Texas probably would be our worst track of the three I think if we hit things right I felt like we could probably run good at Martinsville and thinks Salak he's been a struggle so I wouldn't feel the greatest about going there but and we've had good runs at Martinsville we've had bad runs there and it hasn't been a lot of consistency so I think either one of those were Phoenix could go either way for I don't really know that there's one I have circled that would be a one I'm excited about but I would say took the one I'm excited about going to you noted that there has been a lack of consistency at Martinsville but to me it seems like you're finally getting a handle at the Racetrack do you have a sense of maybe a little bit more knowledge going into the race knowing what you need from car in which you need to do on-track every time I get excited about one of Martinsville struggle and and we had a great run there too falls ago Felt like we had a great car car certainly capable of winning we go back there the next spring and do the same thing and we struggle and then we go back there this past spring and we want we run really good and I was I'm not doing it anything different so I it's hard because I you go back to those places and you think you're doing the same thing you're approaches or my approach is the same you have mixed bag of finishes so I would like to think so I feel like I've learned I put a lot effort in China be better but I haven't found that consistency of happening all the time a cup season in celebrations in Nashville this year for the first time you're big country music I would he must looking forward to just the environment I mean I'm not sure you can have a better environment for for doc celebratory year end banquet so good place for it and it's a lot closer than vegas which is great nobody wants to travel to Vegas three times a year so maybe somebody does I don't think I do but nonetheless it's been it's been on out and Vegas and not to knock that they were really good to us out there but I think Nashville will be better suited for us and and closer to closer to everyone which you know obviously we do a lot of traveling so looking forward to that and I'm sure it'll be a great party forever "Terms of you know my role in starting starting to see the bigger picture of what I can add to the sport is maybe not as you know. Maybe I won't get the chance to become eight time champion of the sport but if you know so driving wise I I'm very lucky to be in this issue. I'm in in terms of like how somehow I'm what I'm the only go part Time Cup ride right on a team that can run in the top twenty five is doing the TV thing like. I'm in a very unique position so i. I don't take that for granted but I think there's a lot of it goes back to. What do I do so so many things because as I said before I think you know I maybe I'm still searching you know some respects like what's truly going to be the thing I the next twenty five years but at the same token I try to live in the moment rothen in China? Just enjoy this. This is so cool right I'm doing TV. I'm driving race cars. I'm with a core group here at GB are already gone and trying to help them build this organization. You know I'm getting a do all this really cool stuff you know on national television broadcast asked with Dale earnhardt junior and some the biggest names in TV at times and it's just it's a surreal existence but I definitely think overall as a person. I struggled a little bit. Just thinking okay like this is cool now but I'm someone who is trying to think way too far ahead and so I'm always thinking like all right. What's next? You know what he what what's what's that one. I would love more than anything that just be dedicated to one thing but it's just not possible right now because of built up a life so far of just multiple things so we'll see and that's funny leads in next question which is how long do you keep doing it this way up more in the sense of the racing part of it right like you've mentioned this part Time Cup right that you've got an occasionally you get to go trump jumping a truck. How long do you keep doing it this way or has it crossed your mind where you'll have to say to yourself one day I just it's not gonNa work for me? I'm going to have to give it up or do you not think like that. I think it's only natural you think like that because you've so you've gotta be realistic right like you know you look at the trends in the sport and you look at where things are going and you look at the uniqueness of my position. You know to say like okay okay if I was if I was smart I would understand like this could disappear anytime right so and I think absolutely you gotta look at that. You know you got to be thinking ahead and I know people like to save. You have a plan B. Plan to fail but I don't think that's the correct way to look at. It and I don't think I think with all the things I've done and and doing. I'm sort of hedging anyway so I think right now you can kind of take advantage of all the platform. I'm on and just go with it and live more than moment but you absolutely have to think yes this could be. You know this year it could be the last you know someone comes along and they want a different driver in this car and Mardi would be obligated by that point. Be You know okay yeah. We got to put this guy in. I get that so I get the realities of the situate- situation but I think there's there's cool things happening in terms of where I'm at and I think there was a couple years where did the TV thing that did all that because I was like all right I need to grow my profile because for some reason even though I was finishing one point behind collars in the championship no one was saying my name pay attention me meanwhile. He's like the greatest things inside spread. I'm like well this. I don't get this so then one of the TV thing proved I could be marketable and do all those things and thought okay then I'll just jump back in a car and it's been a longer road and I don't know if it's quite worked out. Maybe in that sense but I think that you know I've always tried to be a little bit unique and so we'll see how long ago with it I don't know yet I am and twenty nine now turning thirty next year and so I will say that there's like a part of me. That's like wait a second. When did that happen? When did I not be was not the twenty one year old like young kid anymore so wait? Wait a minute. I'm older than you you are. I'M GONNA be thirty in December. Oh Wow shouldn't sage on here well. I'm shocked. I'm older older like how is that. I don't know I time tight I think time and calendar and I I learned something today that a lot people think I'm so fans on time and they're like we still in your twenties and I'm like because it's one of those things where I look at and this is just it's completely off topic but it's like I look at somebody like Joey. llegado is a perfect example that and I think you fall into this category. You've been around so long or or Joey. Logano has been around so long you forget how young they started so naturally you just feel like they're older than they are. Actually okay thank you. You made me feel better about it yeah. That's how I look at it because I feel like Joey should be thirty-seven because it's been around forever so I guess in Nascar October of this year will be ten years. I've been here you go so yeah. You're right ARCA. Okay before that so yeah it's been it's been wow I've been here ten Jeez. What am I doing this ten years going back to the serious areas noted where you talk about how it could all end today? How much has your perspective and appreciation for racing changed? How much more do you appreciate it now? So knowing that the next time you get behind the wheel maybe of this ninety six or that truck it could be whether you know it or not the very last time so it's tough because my whole career has been like that back in Oh six the last time I stepped in an open wheel former car before I drove a car years ago but I was told because is my family didn't really have the means to support my racing. My Dad wasn't super into it. Kinda wanted me to take more traditional path in life and because of that I was told then hey this is probably the last race good luck you know and before that even go-carts told hates his last race good luck and then I went into midgets and Usak seven it was literally my last race. We had no money we'd done like twelve races. We had one good resolve all year. We were super underfunded. I barely knew what I was doing and we got to last races season. At Anderson Indiana National Usak racers like seventy cars at show up or maybe sixty five somewhere around there and twenty four make the feature we had made a national feature all year we go there and somehow right before the race the guy who has helped me out Bob Parana who now works in Indycar and as a manager injury also a spotter and also driver coach in any car he said to me hey this is your last one enjoy it over and we went out there and somehow got the third in the heat race made the feature and then I got a call from Nascar Scout that day and the next day and got a test with the team when faster and their driver at the time that led to meeting more NASCAR teams so and so forth so my whole career even when I was doing Arca with penske in Cunningham that was a race by race deal it was like hey no money we're done so my whole career has been that way. I find it really easy to step into a car and thinking it's the last time ever because literally it's been that way the entire time of this. That's the unfortunate turn down side of the career that you've had so since we're up against time. There's a few things that I wanted to to get on but we'll skip over that for now. We'll just have to have you back on the podcast. How about Dr Qatar about this? We we just messed up the time in a little bit on the busiest Guy Motorist House couple if I'm but let me jump to this so you being again broadcaster Parker I I feel like I can't let the opportunity by to have this on the record when when we now we're now getting down into playoff time for the cup series series will quickly follow trucks already doing that but when it comes uh-huh to the Cup series let me get it on record here. What's your prediction for how these playoffs are going to to sort out now as you and I talk obviously got to final spots to fill and this will probably aircraft whereafter Indianapolis so that the playoffs will be set but where are you looking at when we start thinking about playoffs in the guys that we know we're going to be locked in the guys who we can probably assume we're going to be contenders? Contenders one name Denny Hamlin. This is his year. This will be his championship year. I just I knew it. I don't know what it is but for some reason maybe it's Chris Gabe heart and I've been slightly close to him and knowing when he joined that team there was kind of a fire that started there with the Daytona five hundred but then you see what he's done in the summer months here and the move I keep going back to you and I said this on TV there today at New Hampshire that battle of Kevin Harvick was the most telling moment to me. I've seen pry in many years in that was he had every opportunity to move Kevin Harvick away and probably make an enemy that day and win in another race and he made a very conscious decision to raise him as clean as possible and not move mouth away because he knew that's a guy who's going to have to fight for the chip and this this is a year that he can win a championship and so I just I firmly believe this is eleven year didn't hand will finally get that championship. That's eluded him for so long and he's had a very interesting career. You think about how how many wins he has and how successful he's been. He's probably GonNa be a hall of fame driver but that championship is something that I feel like he felt like was maybe a lock five six years years ago to happen and it hasn't and so I think this is a very important for him. Yeah he'll tell you that he definitely thought he'd have a couple of others. Are Let's end it with this. Let's do truck and xfinity. What are your predictions there? Oh Gosh EXP- any I mean of those top three I mean I don't even know how to wait up. I mean the what I I give it to tolerate it just off them going back to Miami again unless something happens to him if something happens to him then I look at coca shouldn't sounds odd but I think trust rebels really struggled there at Miami. there's maybe a little bit something. They tried to help them out a little bit but and then I think he's yeah I think he has you know that's his worry as well that sat teams worry so I I would say first and foremost radic if not him his Co.. Concert if not him as Chris rebel pecking order and if there's wherever that fourth car is if it's Briscoe Syndrich Rick I mean they're going to need help because I think those three are just interleaved thrown absolutely and trucks gosh and it's hard to go twenty four right. That's that's I mean that's and that team was just incredible. He's definitely looks like he'd go to in a row but the one that surprised me here and I think he's been very interesting granted finger so oh I would keep an eye on him. I think he's been very very interesting. The season overlooked yeah better than he won. The regular season Champs yeah so I think he I think he's probably of one that would surprise people but will be if they make it to the chimps before we very competitive in that race all right Parker say this about a lot of people by having them back on the podcast but I truly in short I did. "But I think Eric has been has been the guy over there and the more we get into the season the more everybody gets used to this new package s HR is going to improve their program. And and I think Eric is certainly a dark horse that I would not be surprised if he gets in. And I think the guy I want to back up a minute. The guy I want to put in my in my final four. Or if we're talking about that from racing perspective. You've got to look at it. Any Hamlin one Daytona? That's a different bird Texas is a mile and a half where we're going to do most of the racing this year six out of seven top ten finishes. So far this season a new crew chief, and I think there was a sense coming in that this guy might be racing for his job racing for his future. Because you've got a guy like Christopher bell waiting in the wings. I think that the performance the get after it has been there from that team this year. I think it's been it's been very eye opening that Dinnie hasn't forgotten? What it takes to win. It just takes the right right crew chief pairing to get the job done. And he and Chris Gabe heart have worked together in the past and the Finnity series. So there's some chemistry there already and it's hard to think of Denny as a dark horse because he's one two races. But but I think he definitely has a shot to make it to the final four. He's good at martinsville. As good, obviously at Texas. He's he's good at I assume raceway too. I just think in this is this is so strange after what happened at Texas. I know we live with you can't make a mistake on pit Rome. Okay. He made two of them. And then they had another team made where they had three problems on road and he overcame my challenge with Denny Hamlin. As when we get to play off racing. I think the stakes get higher, and I think that at that point. I think those mistakes they've gotta clean those up. I three more for you kind of the dark horse category. We went to before how about Ryan Blaney eighth in the overall standings from that team Pinski stable we talked about how good they're doing three top five finishes. So far this year. Kurt busch. Five top ten finishes in seven races an average finish of nine point six. Oh, far that's four best overall. And then tricks. Yes, he's made the switch to Joe Gibbs racing. But I think they're gonna come on. And they're going to show by the time. We get to the end five top ten finishes in seven races. So far Kurt Busch is certainly led the way. But I like what I saw of Hendrick this past week in Texas. I think there's some progress there. So I'm actually in my dark horse camp. Go to put chase Elliott and just be that's going to be my Chevy darkhorse. And and and and sorry bowtie fans, you snuck a you snuck a a wild card in there. But but right now, the performances there and remember last year it was the end of the season for they really came on -absolutely. So I want would chase Elliott on that Dylan. And that's exactly what I was gonna say to because obviously he ran on. You've done is agree with him the whole time. He's a very smart young man beat me to the punch but chase obviously rain well at martinsville had a shot to win. The Hendrick cars were I think Texas was really a test. Because when we went out west, you kind of just had what you had and everybody said that they were using the the west coast swing to kind of learn about this new package, take it to Texas. And that was going to be really test of how what they've learned so far, right and Hendrik ran well all four cars ran well. Chase has probably been the best of the group so far up to this point. So I'm with you. I think that he's I think he could sneak in there. Yeah. I think it's definitely a good group there, some we agree. So don't but we'll see how it plays out by the time. "Fast. And then it allowed us to kind of have a little bit different strategy at the end of sage to that allowed us to win that stage. And then we were able to kind of you know, pit there. Get our tires accords a little off to start stage three and then towards the middle of the stage three and then we made the right adjustments. Once we you know, the twenty pitted. The eighteen bobbled we able to run the laptops on needed to really start to pull away there at the end. And then I needed just ask you run the right line, keep the car running low twenty nine if I could do that. I knew I was going to get myself on on that last bit stop. And that's what we did winless in twenty eighteen now two wins already in the first seven races of twenty nineteen with a new crew chief, what is gelling with you. And Chris Gabe hearts, so well so early. Well, we're we're we're really doing. Well, we're we're working on just trying to execute. These races better today was obviously very sloppy. But the fast racecar made up for it. So I'm just happy that we're up fr. All these races each week now and we're battling. And we're putting ourselves in good position for the regular season. Four wins for Joe Gibbs racing as a whole this season. What how was this organization been able to kind of get a grip on this new package so much better than the other the others a lot better. But we're just seems like we're getting balance right in the race. And seems like we're not always the fastest in practice. Even though we were this weekend. But it just seemed like me and Chris in particular are finding what each other needs out of the race car. And he's he's giving it to me most week. So. We're we're we're on a roll. And we're just gotta keep going and keep getting more wins. And that's what matters you, obviously as you said made a lot of passes out there on track. But if you can give us a sense of how different it is getting to the lady versus being up, the lead maintaining it. It's really hard. It's hard is the hardest part is passing the leader self because he can run the the corner so much faster than the second place guy. And then the third and then on and on. But once you get in the middle of the pack handling, well, you can you can make some time. And that's what we deal execute on pit road. Win the race. "Instead of doing that. Why don't we see what Denny Hamlin? You mentioned. He talked about the pit road challenges. Then he's number three cut guys was the one we were talking about here where he had a ton of shoes on pit road. Ran out of fuel. I know it's amazing. It was early race. Pass bit road. And we ran out that costs us. I don't know six seven. It was a lot. It seemed like a lot. I lost the straightway twenty seven cars by my count, put maybe. And then I try to come to pit road hot. And I've out spun out, and I had to let off the break to keep from spinning out. And then I'll knew I wasn't gonna make pit roadside checkup. And then losing other four or five seconds under another green flag sequence. And then. And then we just I was just speak my head against Syrian well thinking, man, we're gonna finish bad with a really fast car, and we just kept digging and Chris doing a good job encouraging us that we had a long way to go. And we kept passing cars and passing cars. And I think at some point we passed everyone for sure. Denny hamlin. Joe Gibbs and Chris Gabe heart the new matchup between Dinnie Chris's working out. Pretty well. So far. Yep. Push-button there. Push the talks or cool. I like except for when you don't believe forget operator. Well, they're cough buttons. Really that's right at four. But no the new combination in Denny's always looking for that little bit. You know, they ran good last year last couple years what Mike Wheeler. But they have the new crew chief now and those guys are off to a fantastic start with their second win of two thousand nineteen and again, they just kept fighting and fighting and fighting and had a good enough car and good enough strategy and everything worked out then here they are in victory lane again. So what can you say? Yeah, they're off to a definite good start. As we saw in the race, though, we sing sink themselves by having one penalty on pit road. Or one mistake on pit road in here. He described a handful and that still wasn't enough to over to knock them out of contention. Now as teammate Kyle Busch was up there for a while look like he might get another win. But then I don't know what the issue was escape the track. Few laps later. Scrapes the wall and has to come pit get back up to the front. Yeah. The the only difference that you. Say between the two Denny's problems were a little bit earlier. And then Kyle's was a little late. They both had very competitive cars. Really? Honestly when the race started thought, the eighteen was gonna sweep, and you just had that he had that I the tiger. If you will. And and I've seen the race fan that has the hats with the he has the two or three to a one every race. He wears the hat like Xs out one and put the number. It's a new hat. Oh, it's a whole new head every time. He has all that. So this race fan to commemorate Kyle Busch's wins. He had two hundred to a one he had two two to three to four ready at this weekend's rates. "That's two PM eastern on FOX. Denny hamlin. Is my guest, Danny? It's good to have you on the show. Congrats. How are you? Thanks very much. You spend a little less than forty eight hours since one your second date tone of five hundred and when you were interviewed right after the race. You mentioned you might be a bit hung over on Monday. So what was that bender like high feeling right now and today's been like? I actually took it easy to time second time around. So I kind of learned my lesson fit radio days, not fun hungover. So I took it took it easy. You know, if you're in New York right now, but had a lot of fun. I would say I got a couple of kids and took the team out, and we had to cook dinner and drinks here and there, but it was a really good time and enjoy the whole weekend. We're talking to Kenny Hamlin artsy. Get your second one winning one Daytona five hundred is amazing. But wanting to move into a really elite group a very select category. How much more special is the second one? Because what it means in terms of the history of the sport. Well, it puts you definitely like you said in a very elite group, and there's been a lot of great ones this one just one and there's been really hall of fame drivers has never won any. So for me personally. It just puts me in a group for you know, I feel like I personally don't belong. You know, just some names that are extremely high regarded in our. But you know, it just comes, you know, it's just hard work that we've put in to get to this point where you know, we've got to Daytona five hundred championship. We're talking to Denny Hamlin. A multiple Daytona five hundred champ. Now, there are a number of racks and five lay cautions at that point you and teammate Qiao Bush seemed to be alternating taking the lead on the restarts. So what's going through your head near the end of the race? And how were you able to maintain that calm and poisoned composure with all that chaos going on? Well, you know, I tried my best to put myself as far as I could in the I I thought that if I could put myself in the top five it would be a good position to kind of big wreck that I knew and never will inevitably with gonna come. And and it did. And luckily, we were just a couple of profit in front of it. But but certainly I mean the team workers working well throughout the entire rate. But in the end, you got to win for yourself and and. We had a deal and tend to go to work together. And then after that race it out, and we kind of got the best of it. We're talking to Denny Hamlin. See how that deal you and Bush had a deal that you can take the outside. And then go from there you said quote when he gave me that top. I literally was doing a little tear in my mind. So at that point, did you know you were gonna win. I knew that increase my odd. You know, I've been in that position before he really did it come out. The inside line on the final restart that was the one line. I lost because of it. So for me personally. I I knew that once we were given the top was I this is likely going to be the winning move. Like, you said you've been through this before. So, you know, it's kind of old hat, but there are so many different ways to celebrate a huge win like that. But you Joe Gibbs and the team hit up a steak and shake with the trophy. Man. What if you're like to walk into a steak and shake and see that Daytona five hundred trophies sitting right there on the table. The tradition. Started in nineteen ninety one hundred five hundred. I couldn't find victory lane. He had the trophy and find it very said mom, just leaving on Gordon. You're with him to can check writing for read about a half mile racetrack. When we want in two thousand sixteen he actually did the same thing here to do a little maybe out now that you didn't have to do then. But yeah, it was fun that we have to do that again. Again this year. This is the third time with Joe for hinder his biggest victory ever ever competed in this guy just wants to bowl and there's a whole Famer. So it's definitely mental Watson. Let me keep you on that point. Because I want to reiterate what you just said Joe Gibbs said exactly that Joe Gibbs called your wind Sunday, quote, the most emotional and biggest win I've ever had in my life in anything. It was the most important night in my occupational life. That is an astonishing thing for somebody like that to say. So where does it mean to you able to give that moment to him and share it with him? Watch because. His father passed away last month. It's his car number. And. Fourteen years ago. So when we lost them, very very tough time for all involved in really joke personally. So. Probably had handed in that finish the race to have all his warrants to three. But luckily for us to have been personal car up their winning the race that played a factor in. Yeah. This is the biggest whenever Denny Hamlin's. My guest he joins us for a few more moments. You're talking about the passing of JD Gibbs you and I have talked about him in the past. And you just mentioned it once again what he meant to your career into your life for those who did not know him. What was JD like as a person and a friend? You're such a great person. Man was heavily involved in in his faith. And he likes to spread. Right. The word about that kind of list through JD give legacy dot com. You can kind of. Story and hit enforce it. He's had on people in racing and outside of racing. And I know Joe was heartbroken when he lost his son. But certainly, you know, we wanted to carry the torch for him and make him proud. And obviously the wind was so special to pay for that specific reason Denny Hamlin just wanted a second five hundred now last year, Danny was kind of a challenging year for you. As a driver in the sense that you went winless for the first time, you're close which were winless what was it like for you wanna personal level to grind through a year? Like that. Yeah. I mean, it stinks. I mean, I've won thirteen straight years or twelve years of my career in the Cup series in a season where you don't win. I I mean for a lot of drivers it's common. Some of the greatest drivers in history has happened must season. But I just wasn't used to it or something like that. I hadn't had to go through and it was very tough off season now to come in and following year. The very first race of the year are obviously biggest race of our sport. It means a lot in allows us to kind of refocus recharged. You're ready to make a championship run. You know, you'll talk about your team. So let me ask you about your crew chief before you go, Chris, Gabe heart. He was interviewed on the broadcast late in the race. He seems so calm like to work it already been done. So it's just a matter of him sitting back and seeing what happens it's his first year as your crew chief in the monster energy NASCAR Cup series. How would you describe the chemistry the two of you have? It's great. I mean, obviously, it's gonna take time for us to kind of your three and how each other operate. How he writes his team how how drivers the driver we're going to there's going to be rough fat. Hatchets here and there, but it turned off winning the Daytona five hundred AVI is a good omen that keeps going through the seat of such a smart guy. We put him in that position for reason and hopefully success here shortly last thing, you've got a great presence on Instagram. But I've got to be honest. There might not be a cooler photo on Instagram than the one you posted earlier in the month with a wall of stacked Jordan boxes for you. And your team what kicks were in the boxes. And then how good is it to have that kind of relationship with Jordan and get that kind of love from them. Yeah. It's a good one knowing Michael, Jordan, definitely a great. I have and I've been with the Jordan brand now for almost ten years. And it's just been a great relationship. You know, I myself met at a at a Hornets game like say about ten years ago and struck up conversation, and you know, he he asked me about a ratio was happening two weeks ago. And I said wait you watch NASCAR racing buddy. My dad used to take me a racist. When I was a kid, and I just latched onto it ever since. Then. So, you know, a little known fact that people don't know about Michael easy to avid race fan. So he we hooked up and linked up a a an agreement, and he does my shoes and and all that stuff. So it'd be the kind of the only Jordan brand guy out there not only that like you said I could pick up. I can't guys. Great trainer shoot. Man. "Now in the wake of that incident when everything shifted around they've adjusted the flight schedules for the next couple of Soyuz is to adjust accordingly. So right now there are only three crew members in space. But the next flight is due to go up at the end of February beginning of March. So they will get up there in March. The crew that's up in the space right now has been there since December. So they've got December to March with three crew members and then March to June with six crew members in June the crew that is up in space currently will come back down and another crew will launch up the is s within that same week or two week period of time and get back to that six crew member slot. So once this next crew flies will be on. A six crew member rotation from there on out, and we wouldn't have missed a beat. We just missed this one segment of flight, but it was already a weird segment with already less crew members. So it didn't seem to if you could pick any Soyuz flight to go horribly wrong. This was the one because it was just a really odd alignment of things. And the crew members from MSN are actually going to be the ones flying that flight in in March on MS twelve. And once they get up there. We'll be back to what you've known the crew scheduled to be like where you've got three crew members flying every three months and descending every three months. That's that's how that's going to typically go. Now there was one report from Sputnik. So take it with a grain of salt because that's a kind of a Russian. I dunno government source or whatever there was a single report that has yet to be confirmed by anybody else that Nick Haig will do a one year flight. And that's to accommodate the United Arab Emirates astronaut. He was originally slated to be on MS twelve and once MSN happened, and they've re slated those people for twelve it bumped that you a astronaut off of that flight. So the idea is to or at least the idea that someone in Russia is floating to have Nick do a one year mission since that's something that NASA wants to do more of. And so he would fly up on MSG twelve not come back down and come back down later on a different flight MS fifteen I think the article said and that would accommodate different flight schedules. So we'll see if that pans out. I don't know it would it would be surprising to me at this point that were month out from launch. And NASA hasn't said a word about that. Of course, this is all complicated by the commercial crew bit. That's coming online soon. So there's a lot in play with the schedule right now. The second of Jerry three questions. How is the reduce staffing affecting science on station? As Chris said in your last podcasts. That's Chris, Gabe heart. He's talking about station is in really good health. But maintenance work is still intensive half of the time. I guess there will be two Russians on board and only one western national will that loan astronaut be able to do any science at all. So again, we're not only going to have three crew members on station. We right now we have three crew members you have one Russian one Canadian one American, but we're going to be back to six very shortly. So you know, the science definitely was impacted a bit. There's some mich- some missions that were a little delayed because of this. But we were already going to be at a reduced crew for that flight. So that's that made it a little different. And it probably didn't impact it as much as another mission. Failing would have done. Jerry's third question is NASA still planning to increase crew to seven star liner and dragon already. So this is a maybe a bit of a misnomer here. But the US segment has for awhile the US segment of Russian segments. Both had three crew members two years ago the Russians dropped their crew member assignments to to cruise to crew members at the same time and the US segment took the opportunity to raise their crew members to four so for the best two years we've had four US segment crew members and two Russian segment crew members. Russia doesn't do as much on their side of the station. They had some delays with this module that they wanna fly to the space station to up that again..

But just going down there for some vacation time in the next few weeks. And after that just spent some time at home, relaxing. It was did a and think about the twenty nineteen racing package. Well, I think the racing will be better at the, you know, the larger racetracks, I can think of the two mile racetracks in particular that's going to be substantially better. You know, some of the short tracks. It could be a challenge simply because the arrow you're gonna be punching a bigger hole in the air. But you know, you stop the judge until you see it, and, but I got to drive a little bit and in it seem pretty fun. Get it because he's the guy. He's talking about packages. Yep. There's Denny Hamlin at his package. So he returns to the eleven J G R machine for next year. Although he's going to have a new crew chief? Yes, Chris, Gabe heart. I forgot to look it up.
