GMC powers zero-emission goals with 2024 HUMMER EV SUV
"All right. So let's start with the hummer suv. So we saw the hummer pickup truck. It was super bowl commercial. We saw it at barrett jackson scottsdale. They auctioned off vin number one when it becomes available. I saw it in person. The white one the prototype. It's massive and actually looks pretty cool. It's it's pretty bad ass. And what they're talking about like thousand horsepower. Zero to sixty in three seconds the crab walk mode it just has some pretty cool features that easier. Not like i against e. v. I just don't like the idea of people trying to take away the things that we we do love right so you know the we'd live when the headline is says. Why does the new hummer why is the second version of the humber. All the league have eight hundred sixty hasely over. Getting the hummer that was released is the four door pickup truck version and now. There's the hummer evi. Suv that's literally what they're calling it. The ev suv. And it's just as cool. I mean it looks bad ass. It has a removable roof panel. I'm not exactly sure if that's more like a target or that's kind of a t top thing with some sort of you know spine in the middle but yes so. It doesn't have the thousand horsepower. It only has eight hundred and thirty horsepower. World that we live this. Is there's There's there's the dual motor and then the three motor version right. And it'll be six hundred and twenty five horsepower or the three motor version will be eight hundred and thirty horsepower. And i know that's a little less than what they were saying on the pickup truck version. But it comes down to simply battery size and space. That's that's what it is is. The pickup truck version has a longer bed any longer chassis. So it has more room to put a battery down the middle in between the tires of this thing. And that's it the. Suv is a little bit smaller. Arguably more functional right is far as driving around town. Or all. The the hollywood and beverly hills people are going to pick up these

Seeking Refuge On The Open Road
"When we reached bob wells. He was camped out of the grid in his white. Gmc savannah van in the middle of the california desert. Some twenty five years into his experiment in mobile living. How did this whole journey start for you. What was your life like before you discovered this this lifestyle while i was either very very lucky or very unlucky depending on your point of view it was the winter of one thousand nine hundred five. Bob was living in anchorage alaska where he'd worked for over two decades in a union job at safeway saint job. His father had worked until his retirement. At the time bob was going through a divorce and after alimony and child support payments. He says he was no longer making enough to clear his rent. He was desperate and that is when he noticed old beat up box banned for sale on the side of the road for fifteen hundred dollars and he decided he had to go for it. That was all the money. I had left in the bank. But i had to have a place to live and so i bought it and That night through a backpacker. Sleeping bag. Down and i began my van dwelling adventure in the winter and the cold van and i That first night. I cried myself to sleep. I literally cried myself to sleep. Or when you're going through a divorce you you cry yourself to sleep on a pretty regular basis ends but sure just of course greatly compounded here. I was homeless bomb living in a van on the streets. And how much lower can my life get. But bob done a lot of camping in his life and you had to make a small space cozy and after a few weeks eat figured out how to cook and stay warm deal to bed and cabinets used his gym membership to shower. Figured out how to make it sustainable. And the money. He was saving on rent. Meant he didn't feel like he was always on the knife's edge it slowly and subtly shifted from. I despise my life to. This isn't really that bad to hey. Every month i keep the money and put it in my pocket to. I kind of really really liked this. And that's the way it's been every sense. Was it difficult at all to kind of switch. Grand narratives about What trajectory you're supposed to take as a productive member of the economy absolutely it was a traumatic transition you know. We are trained from birth to death. Our purpose in life is to be good productive citizens and so it made me question everything i had done. Exactly what society and told me to do. I'd gotten a job. I wanna house. We'd had kids. I was following the american dream to the best of my skill level and ability. As i could and then i was forced into living what society told me was the life of total failure homeless in the van and for the first time in my life i was happy well that raises a lot of existential questions and when i looked around at all the people i work with work eat sleep. Working sleep work. Eat sleep. I said what society told me it was not true. I've finally found a way. That's happy for me. Let me try to understand that. My life and for the life of others a few years later bob had saved up enough to quit his job at safeway and by supplementing his union pension with seasonal stints as a campground host. He was eventually able to take to the road as a full-time nomad in two thousand five about a decade. After he moved into the van. Bob decided to pay forward. Some of the techniques developed the started a website called cheap. Rv living the serve as a kind of resource for other people interested or in many cases forced to move into a vehicle. I started the sole intent of letting people know there wasn't on alternative. You didn't have to live under the tyranny of the marketplace and the way to do that was to eliminate your biggest cost in life. Which is your housing with cheaply. Live frugally and then you can live well for a long time the site just kinda mosey too long picking up you know few page views here and there in two thousand eight happened. Bob says in the wake of the financial crisis. He was inundated with desperate messages. Have lost my job. I we moved in with my family now. My family is lost their job. Now we're all losing our own. What are we going to do. And that was the question. I got over and over and over again. Even after the economic recovery started to pick up the number of inquiries and page views and people in the community continued to grow. Fueled partly by the rise of social media. Bob started his cheap. Rv living youtube channel in two thousand sixteen and has since become just one of many popular nomad influencers but unlike a lot of the glossier more glamorous content associated with the hashtag van live crowd. Bob's videos are all about helping people struggling to keep their head above water financially and they're filled with the nitty gritty details of living behind the wheel. Today we're gonna talk about heat today. We're gonna talk about taking showers. The topic of today is poop. You can cut your behinds. Not one of them. You want that thing to be clean all the time. Bob also does these little interview profiles of people living in different kinds of vehicles cars to trucks to buses. Welcome back fellow nomads. Today we're going. Meet a new friend of mine. Joe sale load everyone relax. They're really out. There doesn't look like there's a bunch of people out there. Yeah thank you that video for the record. Two point five million views and counting. Bob says his videos have become so popular that he's now making more money than ever before. I think eventually the second break but it gets great reviews on amazon which is why i'm recommending ads in affiliate marketing. Help him bring in over one hundred fifty thousand dollars a year. Bob makes enough to have two full time assistants helping him with his work and because he says he never plans to live in a house again. He makes a very healthy profit. I'm make much more money than i ever thought. I could possibly make in my life. And i live in a van. My expenses are pretty darn low with that extra money. Bob started a nonprofit homes on wheels alliance to support people transitioning into living in their vehicles. They've started to outfit and give vance to people in dire need of a new vehicle. And bob says he saving up to buy a plot of land for an in person resource center. It isn't clear how many people are living on the road at this point. But in two thousand ten when bob started this annual gathering van and car dwellers in the arizona desert called rubber tramp rendezvous it had a few dozen attendees by two thousand and nineteen. They had an estimated ten thousand people show up and as a central node in this growing community. Bob has had a kind of front row seat to the massive disruptions of the past decade. And he's watched as certain demographics have borne the brunt of those changes. It's a surprisingly large female. Contingent older women in their sixties and seventies. When they were girls they were told get married. Stay home raise a family and so they never go up so sturdy and then now they're living on five hundred to eight hundred dollars a month so skirt and he cannot live in this country on five hundred two thousand a month so sturdy and live in house and you just can't do it and so they all desperately needed the solution as well and i told them all. If you move into your plan you can live reasonably well on that. You won't be rich but you won't eating dog food and there's hope bob says he has seen an uptick in views and inquiries about van dwelling over the last year. But so far he says the stimulus checks and the nationwide moratorium on evictions have slowed. The number of new nomads. Still he says as the baby boomers continue to age into social security and as the effects of climate change intensify bob expects the movement towards van life to surge and he sees it is his mission to try to help however he can. I've got a string of lifeboats. And i want to get as many as i can into the lifeboat and i think the hammer blow of two thousand eight really put a crack in people's confidence and i think when you combine that with this cheers a natural disasters and the epidemic. I think people are just going to be abandoning the american dream in droves. That's all i'm trying to do is get people out
GM going electric
"Starting things off talking about general motors engines. And the reason we're doing that are two very interesting in pieces of news. We've got Last week gm announced that as of twenty thirty five th they are going to stop offering internal combustion engines in their light cars so basically you might still be able to get a va in your silverado. Twenty five hundred or something like that but vast majority of their vehicles probably even performance stuff like your corvette if the camaro still around then those are all going to be e vs or maybe plug in hybrids but basically gas a purely gas powered engines are not in their future and so i wrote up the road up the story last week and it really got my gear. Spit on that. You know g. m. is one of the oldest auto makers in the world nerd. They've got over one hundred years of history and there are some absolutely fantastic internal combustion engines in that town at also. Interestingly this week. I'm this is a story that you wrote about it is at you know. Cadillac announced that the new cto four. V black-wing c. T. v. black wing. Those are going to be the last v models from cadillac with internal combustion engines and so it really seems like gm serious about this at least for right now So yeah it's it's a weird time. Jim anything to add about the cadillac part of that. Well i mean yes. And no. I guess the bigger question is whether or not gm can actually pull this off than our commenters brought up as well as you know. Twenty thirty is a long time and time away make makes promises that doesn't necessarily keep so they they sometimes don't always follow through most of the all of the time. Maybe i i. I don't wanna sound too harsh on gm. Because i mean they're they're they're going forward and and i mean frankly they have to go for it right. The whole industry is moving in that direction. And we're we're faced with a gm lineup right. Now that is pretty much almost completely devoid of any electrification Damning they have some Just wanted just a couple of vehicles right off the top of my head. Of course they've got the the gmc hummer okay. i. I don't know if a hundred and ten thousand dollar luxury electric pickup truck is really going to be the the mainstream savior but yeah fourteen. Years can get there and cadillac. I mean these These amazing looking sports sedans. That's going to be the the end
Early signing day: Latest on the nation's top 25 college football recruits
"It's signing day part one in college football with the early signing period. now which. I'm sure coaches love because they championship games and bowl games. All that other stuff. It is obviously been a very busy time for the uc coaching staff. And a big reason why is putting together a twenty three players signing class or recruiting class. I should say for the the class of two thousand and twenty one during the early signing period we are obviously huge fans of bear journal. Dot com chad. Brendel comes on this show all the time. He'll be with us tomorrow at three forty five but because it is sunday i wanted to bring in brent young who also covers. Uc's sports and pretty heavy recruiting emphasis for bearcat journal dot com. He is on twitter at. Excuse me at be young sports and He's with us this afternoon. I appreciate the time. What should i what what stands out most about this. This particular group of players the bearcats have inked You know what really stands out to me. The most i often travel on. It's just kind of the debt that that numerous positions the the high level of talent. It might not have the the top players like you know. You have last year with with prater and jean thomas and jane thompson. The four stars really really kind of flooding the top of the list. But what was really shown and this one is just the death and the amount of talent that they're able to bring in not really clear that you would expect kind of just be headliners for each class but just the amount of players that are highly rated at each physician. You're going to have numerous players. They're going to have big impact next year special teams but more further down the line right. Give me one or two players. That if i look at this bunch and i'm trying to find a kid who's gonna make an immediate impact year one or two stands out. You don't have to go with i. Brian threats i think first off. He's one of the seven early enroll. East coming in is going to be a player out of you. Know w kaufmann there and the clubs. They're gonna come in and be a player that wants to get on the field no matter what so. You're going to see him on special teams quite a lot. You're going to see him trying really find his role on the defensive side. You know obviously defense is going to have a humorous players that are going to have to be funneled out and figured out who's going to be replacing all the seniors that are currently on the roster. So yeah i think threats comes in. He has a knack for the ball defensively. He has the ability to make big plays. You know you play offense as well as the high school level but really defensively special teams where. I'm expecting him to kind of have almost an immediate impact and then outside of that You know give me. Give me an office alive because it seems. Recently we have causes there possibly had numerous true freshman. Kind break that that that you know. Talk to on the depth chart. And i think that you look at a player like luke collins where who could step in at the tackle position is one of the better fruits that program history for the bearcats. And i think he's gonna have a chance to really kinda shy know now. Land is gonna have a chance to really shine but and then of course you look at the depth as i've constantly mentioned it's going to be hard for some of these players really crack the rotation because now you see we've been able to turn you know one as one bs and constant we have players available at each position. So really specialties. Would be the place to watch out for. Maybe i'd a toxic to watch out for who could have an impact on kickoff teams kickoff return team things of that sort. There are seven kids from the greater cincinnati area around up the kids from from From from from this class from the greater cincinnati area. yeah. I talked about Gmc defensive player of the year. It of seems like that's been that the bearcats have been able to do is bring in big time defensive players from the great cincinnati area and that first off. He has a fantastic a phenomenal nickname. And it's the godfather dante. I mean better. Carry that with him and he'd better have it all the way throughout his playing career. Whether it is in the nfl anywhere he goes. Dante corleones the godfather of course from rain high school. He's going to be a cog in the middle. You shake his hand and he just completely engulfs your hand. It makes you feel small just a bowling ball of a player. And he kinda of exact situation as i say of the death i mean. He's he's the second lowest rated player in this entire recruiting class. But you've accused. Gmc defensive player of the year. you get sacks. he's going to be a big shopper. Upfront i mean forced. You gotta mentioned the land fickle. That really great story about him is is of course he. He sat down at the dinner table with his father. And he said you know data. I think i'm gonna be a bearcat and and we've said no. I don't accept that i need a little bit more. You know force behind that. And that's you know he said okay came back days later and i'm sure he fought as much force as possible and You know land is going to be a player. That i think is surprised. Because he's got the talent that his dad has of leeward hours another great flare out of princeton. I mean you just keep on going up and down the list and then of course you know you got ice. Jarman is a good outside player. And i already talked about mouth glenn. This is just going to be another one of those. The state of cincinnati is what they call it and and keeping hometown heroes around the greater cincinnati area. They're all gonna big impact on the team. All right look. I'm not gonna ask you to be an expert on every recruiting class in the country but there are folks at twenty. Four seven are relentless. Put this class up against other competitors in the put this class up against their competitors among a group of five schools. And then tell me where would stack up or how would stack up to even some of the schools that we frequently talk about them. Trying to recruit among power five schools. Right you know first off forty second in the country. You might know that at that and think okay. That seems like a high number but you break it down. This is pop. G five recruiting class top class in the afc. You know an average of eighty five point one that is second behind what last year. The eighty five point three Just just the amount of average ratings throughout the entire class you know the groups that break higher than what auburn has brought in this year. What virginia tech has brought in what you know an iowa state who is magically better than the bearcats in the college football playoff hole which. I'm sure you've completely broke down but higher than in iowa state hires than a ucla arizona state tcu. So you know there was about twenty power five twenty to twenty five power. Five software says up bearcats actually had a higher national rank. Nance so you're looking at you. Know one of the best britain the best group of five but one of the better entire classes and the and the nation he look at next year. Obviously a really early start but this is a fantastic roof. And they're going to be you know like i said it's going to be a couple years down the line. You're gonna start calling out these players by name and say wow. This is a big time player from that twenty. Twenty one
Advancing an Antibody to Prevent and Treat Cytokine Storms in COVID-19
"Cameron. Thanks for joining us. Annual real pleasure to be with you. We're gonna talk about covid. Nineteen kind storms in your experimental therapy zuma mob which is in late stage testing for covid as in clinical development to treat a range of cancers and other conditions. I thought we could start with a little history of the company had been known as callow bios. It was heading towards the liquidation. And you succeeded the infamous martin kelly who was on the job for about four weeks before he was arrested. What attracted you to the company. Well been in this role now for five years the company while it had multiple problems back then always had very interesting science. And that's proven to be the case with the development work that we've established for lenzi mab and i've advertising mab those Two of our lead. Monaco acted me was first and foremost the science. Secondly the opportunity to have a significant impact on as many patients as possible. You rename the company managing and put a focus on rare neglected diseases. Lead zoom apple was being developed to treat rare cancers sam l. j. aml where was the drug actually discovered so the drunk was initially developed not in its current format by a research group in australia and humanitarian licensed those rights. He managing has a proprietary platform technology. Cold human era and human hearing takes the role material if you will in some ways and optimizes it and lenzi mab as the product of that up so it's fully owned by hugh managing and we applied the same secret sauce. If you will to Taja again i advertise you. Map is fully by humanitarian covid. Nineteen can turn deadly by causing what's known as a kind storm. What's a cytokine storm. And how does covid nineteen caused this to happen. Well what happens. Is the virus triggers. An inflammatory reaction. And we all have those kinds of things happening in our body when we engage with viruses bacteria fungi and some types of cancer. So we want the immune system to work in those situations. Unfortunately in some patients with nineteen the immune system goes into overdrive so inflammatory reaction is really what causes some of the body systems to go haywire. So think of it this way daniel. It's a little like you sometimes need to have a foot on the brake and sometimes you need to have a foot on the gas when you're driving. According to the circumstances you encounter cited kind storm is a bit like having your foot on the gas and keeping it pressed on the gas with out anything taking it off. So what lens. Any map does as it. Neutralizes side kind. The triggers the stole and so in some ways in lens does have a jewel mechanism in some ways. You could think of it. Take the metaphor further as both taking the foot off the gas pedal and applying foot on the break. And that's walk allows. The cited kind storm to dissipate. What is granollers site. Macrophage pollinating stimulating factor. Is is this. The signalling you spoke about it is and we abbreviated. Helpfully to g. m. c. sf so gmc sf is a bit like communication conduit between certain cells in the body. They're involved in the inflammatory response. And when not inflammatory response goes into overdrive in the way i've described a lot more. Gmc s. f. is produced that triggers other side kinds downstream site signs to do their dastardly work. So if you can neutralize gmc if you can prevent some of the downstream impacts and daniel. Sometimes the way. I describe this is if you have been at a party. And people dram party coppers you pull a string this this liberal explosion and a whole load of confetti and streamers and glitter and other stuff goes all over the place well pulling the string is a bit like gmc sf being triggered an the convention streamers and glitter of the downstream site. Kinds that just go everywhere and create havoc
GM to Recall 5.9 Million Vehicles With Takata Air-Bag Inflaters
"Got a GM pick up or SUV be on the lookout for a recall notice. Really six million GMC trucks and SUVs are under recall because they're equipped with those Takata airbags that could explode and sent shrapnel through the cab. GM fought this recall for four years, saying the airbag inflators in these vehicles were safe. The recall will cost the company more than $1 billion.
GM to offer car insurance based on driving habits
"There's a change happening in automobile ownership. That is big time significant for your wallet. It started as so many other innovative things seemed to do. And the vehicle business. With tesla that has experimented with selling vehicle insurance along with your ownership or lease of a tesla and they only do it in a more limited fashion but something that maybe eventually they will roll out is a national thing. The reason tesla is so keen on this. Is that traditional auto. Insurers seem completely unprepared for an era where the vehicle will do the driving and and think about that. Thought you just sit there while the vehicle drives you to your destination so then if something happens in your in iraq. Whose fault is the car or is it you or is it. Some combination of which traditional auto insurers have fallen flat on their faces responding to the technological change in the market will general motors which is also installing. More and more vehicles with autonomous systems is now launching a car insurance business that they're planning to offer across the fifty states so they're only going to do it in a slow rollout 'til sometime in twenty one when they'll have the legal right to sell auto insurance in the whole country and they've not said when in twenty one it will be available but what they're doing at gm is you know forever. Even before tesla was cool. They've really pushed their onstar connected. Data service that's become steadily more sophisticated. So when you sign up if you choose to if you're a gm vehicle owner chevy Gmc truck buick. Whatever cadillac when you sign up you are giving them permission to figure out. Are you driving or is vehicle driving itself and if you're driving how are you driving. What speed are you going at. Are you doing jack. Rabbits stops and starts and stops. Are you doing rapid lane changes in other words. They're going to collect all the data on how you are operating your vehicle and whether you're operating it or the vehicles operating itself one of the penalty box things is if you don't have your tires properly inflated which increases the chances of you being in an accident when your tires or under inflated note to self if you don't have your tires properly inflated just generally not just about the premature wear and tear of your tires it can put you in danger. Get air in those tires. What i do is i have An air pump at home. That's a really good one that i can just Hook it up to the to the cigarette lighter. They're still is such a thing in the car and hook it up the tire and just watch the meter to see when he's got the right. Psi the right Number of pounds of air in the tire. And then i know that tire is right and safe but the idea of vehicle insurance changing like this is this is only the beginning where we will be judged based on who who's driving how we're driving and where we're driving and the traditional idea of auto insurance is not over but it's definitely at the beginning of the end in how we pay will be completely different potentially per mile of variety of ways that we will pay for vehicle insurance and if you are a gm vehicle owner and you have on star when this coverage is available. Look at it and see if it would be a money saver for you instead of being with a traditional vehicle insurer.

2022 GMC Hummer EV packs a 1,000-horsepower electric punch
"GMC is resurrecting the Hummer name on a new electric pickup truck. The GMC Hummer Evey has three electric motors that together generate 1000 horsepower and over £11,000 feet of torque. The company's Philbrook says those numbers translate to serious performance conducing a round of 16 around three seconds, He says the trucks lt M Battery Technology is good for 350 miles on a charge plus to be out of charge. Around 100 Miles in just 10 minutes, using one of the commercially available challenging system, and that's for the Hummer branding. Obviously, there was some some concerns around that, you know, idea of being a gas guzzler and Conspicuous consumption and really, as soon as you talk to people about it being zero emissions, electric vehicle all that negativity. Five y the hammer. Evie goes on sale next fall for just under 80. Grand
GM Reveals All-Electric Hummer
"Had been waiting for an all new all electric version of the Hummer designed for off road and on road use, and with acceleration that would have been impossible in a combustion engine version. We talked with GM President Mark Royce about where this new Hummer will fit in the marketplace. JMC is really the on ly premium truck brand out there. If you think about it. Most of their competitors are brand extensions for that, So we have GMC and we have homer. In a premium channel for trucks, and that's a very distinguishable piece of what we're doing with both brands you have the 84 84 acts and things like that for for GMC. I think you'll see that that grow. But then you have the Hummer. You know, the Hummer model under the GMC umbrella as well, which is sort of the ultimate off road piece of that so very carefully designed and executed with different attributes, different designs and different gotta market strategies. Mark you mentioned competitors. Let's talk about competitors in the E V space you have for now, with a 1 50 evey they've announced you've got, of course, Tesla with their pickup truck. How does this compare this Hummer evey year? The direct competitors against Are you going for a somewhat different market? I think it's like nothing else on believe it that this truck is is very different from What are competitors have described most recently with the peace of the light duty pickup truck, and then a few quite a few months back with What with the other electric only competitors is doing with their truck and I don't I don't really know until we see those come into the marketplace with those trucks are but I can tell you what this is, and this is Right now, Like nothing else. Talk about what may be a sister truck. The badger from Nikola GM obviously announced a fairly large arrangement with nickel a lot of controversy around it. Is the badger going forward. Do you see that? Is something complimentary to what you're doing? The Humber evey? Well, you know, we won't sell in market that truck That will be Nicholas. That's what Nick was doing. And the big difference there is that truck will will have a fuel cell. And so it's still a fuel cell electric truck but quite different or offering with our lt impacts on the pure electric Hummer so very different. But as far as you know, the badger and the nickel deal is going forward. Right now we're going forward and so exciting piece of this is Taking what is I believe the best fuel cell in the world with our fuel cell that is made in our joint venture with Honda right here in Michigan on DH, taking that fuel cell and looking at deploying it in the heavy duty transport market. With large trucks. You know, the class seven and eight and then also in the light duty badger truck that you mentioned. So, yes. So with the Hummer If you put this in the larger context of General Motors and its move into electric vehicles, you've announced the lyric the Cadillac lyric. Now they have the Hummer. Evey is understanding. There's a bold UV coming out as well. How does this fit into the overall portfolio that you're developing? And what comes next? It's a great question. If you look at the way we've designed the platforms, both on the A truck platform are BT Battery Electric truck platform and then are better electric vehicle platform. Those two dedicated platforms are quite different. Onda approach is quite different than many others that are in introducing electric vehicles. Reason why I say that is because again we're deploying our module or pack are multi M battery source out of our Lordstown plant in Ohio. That is Designed and executed to be high volume. And the reason why that's important again for the customer and for for the market is because we can really take because of scale. And chemistry that we've developed. In fact, right here we have a chemistry developing lab for ourselves and our packs right here at the Tech center in Warren, Michigan. That quick development of chemistry and then deploying that chemistry and our lt impacts is really the secret time driving that cost down so that we can offer Not only Hummers and Cadillacs, but Eve's and beyond for the mass market piece of our other brands that do higher volume and right in the heart of the market, like Chevrolet and Chevrolet crossovers, trucks, all of those vehicles and so this has been really, really done very carefully. And that goes also into the electric motors that we're doing ourselves. That was GM President Mark Royce on the All new Hummer evey coming out of thin next year for Bloomberg. First word news. We go
2022 GMC Hummer EV packs a 1,000-horsepower electric punch
"GMC is resurrecting the Hummer name on a new electric pickup truck. The GMC Hummer Evey has three electric motors that together generate 1000 horsepower. And over £11,000 feet of torque. The company's Philbrook says those numbers translate to serious performance conducive right of 16. Around three seconds, he says. The trucks multi, um, battery technology is good for 350 miles on a charge plus to be outed charge around 100 Miles in just 10 minutes, using one of the commercially available charging system, and that's for the Hummer branding. Obviously, there was some some concerns around that, you know, idea of being a gas guzzler and Conspicuous consumption. And really, as soon as you talk to people about it being zero emissions, electric vehicle all that negativity five y the hammer. Evie goes on sale Next fall for just under 80

"But if you went to the website and you built the same GMC Sierra added all those options, except for the carbon-fiber bed, which you can't do. But if you did the math on it the bed acquaints to about. Two to three thousand bucks. It's like two thousand or so on the four and three thousand on on the Denali. So the question is, this is, is the bed worth two to three thousand dollars? And what it what it comes down to is. It has the, the idea of the carbon-fiber bed, is it has best in class. Corrosion resistance, scratch resistance in dent durability, you shouldn't need any type of spray in bed line or anything when you do this, and the weight reduction is sixty to sixty two pounds compared to the steel bed. Now, here's here's the part that was unclear to me. I think the sixty two pounds weight, reduction is steel bed to carbon-fiber bed not the carbon pro truck versus the 'non-carbon pro truck because if you add bluetooth speakers, and rear view cameras and blamed, keep assist and, and power sidesteps and sunroof, if you add all of that, crap, which comes with, with, with the, with the carbon pro package, aren't you adding a bunch, wait anyway. So if you're going for the lightest. Wait version. I don't think this is going to get you there because you're adding all of these options now, I don't know if it's going to be available at some point down the line. But can you get a sort of stripped, down model of the truck and the carbon pro bed? And can you get the carbon pro bed or the carbon pro the carbon-fiber bed without the six point two liter v? Eight can you get it in a more fuel-efficient engine convict configuration so far? No, you can't. So I don't know that you're getting it for the weight reduction. Maybe you're getting it for the durability and the corrosion resistance, I would say, probably we don't think about it much here in California. But other parts of the country corrosion resistance, is probably a really big deal. And now I know the fenders on the back of the truck or steel are still steal but those are the painted elements. They're not really the, the pieces that you're scratching up and where the Russ comes through as much. So maybe it's worth it. I don't know. You guys tell me I'm, I'm sure there's sort of an east coast, west coast, a thought process on this. I like the idea of carbon bed, but for me, I hall much stuff, but I do like a cool hot rod truck. And like what if what if you can do sort of a standard cab, or, you know, whatever the half cab is and do sort of a modern day, you know, hot rod pickup truck with a lighter weight, bed and reduce weight, and then put your turbos or superchargers on it, and you know that probably adds eighty one hundred pounds of the front end. But what, what version of this, can you make into a hot rod truck, and it seems like I don't know. It's interesting. I don't know. Chen's doing auto cross with like one. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sure that's going to be a thing that's going to be a thing where you're like, well, I don't want the seventy thousand truck, they're going to try to find one. That's wracked after a year or two and, and take the bed off in use that for something use that for something else. But. It's going to be it's going to be interesting. Now I imagine we're going to see a handful of these and at the Sema show was well, we talked about this show, I think, is going to be littered with, with new Toyota Supra 's and, and Jeep renegades. And why gladiator glad you're hilarious. Yeah, yeah. And health in crate engines and there's got to be a the Jeep pickup truck with a health an engine swap in it by time. We buy get the seem right. Yeah. I wanna see Pinto, but. Right. Anyway. So I don't know you guys give me your thoughts on, on, on the carbon-fiber bed. If you guys think are worth, it is it is it more of a sales gimmick, or you guys into it? I'm not quite sure. Before you wrap up a little bit more about dodge. It's dodge performance days, where we celebrate speed power and performance, and that new car smell gets replaced by the scent of burnt rubber checkout dodge charger with a veil best in class, four hundred eighty five horsepower..

"Butter. Click it or ticket thing that we've been telling you about because if you think yourself I'm in a rush. Maybe it's too uncomfortable. Sometimes I just forget, well, there's no good excuse for not buckling up. You're putting yourself at risk of injury or death in twenty seventeen more than ten thousand unbuckled people were killed in crashes. Fifty one percent of people killed in crashes were not wearing seatbelts of man. The slogan should just be, don't be more right? It should be, that's the, the signs put up everywhere no matter what kind of vehicle you drive, your seatbelt is the best defense, even in the backseat, including taxis, ridesharing services. I don't get it in any kind of louver lift or anything without putting my, my buck lot, I was already in one of them, and I told you that the lift driver was Uber. I don't remember that I hit the car front of him. He's like, way to go buddy. So I've never been an accident. Yeah. Right. That's what he said. He's like, I'm I got the highest rating of anyone out here as he hit the car in front of four. All right. It's like not from me. This guy says three stars. I've not that mean just three stars. I'm not gonna do one-star. Also keep my cops on the lookout and writing tickets. So why risk it? Click it or tickets definitely do that. Talking trucks. I wanted to get on this before we run out of time here, as you guys have known, you know, all the big one of the biggest battles in the automotive space are pickup trucks, GMC Sierra Chevy version of it. Ford f one fifty Dodge, Ram and Ford was doing the aluminum and GMC Chevy. Like we're going to do carbon fibre. We're gonna do carbon-fiber bed in our truck as an option. It's not the only thing so now we've got some specs on that. So GMC has the GMC Sierra the carbon pro edition. And, and the way it breaks down is, is this is if you want the carbon-fiber bed, you actually have to order the package, the carbon pro package. An adds a bunch of options to the vehicles. She can't just get the base model with the bed for now. Now, the carbon bed is. Meant to be part of a higher end of.

Do you wanna drive to Monterey? Do you want to do five five and a half hours to Monterey and be fairly comfortable or you're gonna feel fatigued, you know, getting in and out of it, but I think it's a pretty car. I think it really looks good. I think they've got priced right for GT car. I think it I think it will compete with. I think it will compete with Porsche compete with Aston Martin and. Cars like that. I'm not ever. Brilliant, hit that price point. Yeah. To get a Clarin a to get a GM, McLaren GT, if that price point, even though it's the base price point a little bit larger version of, of, you know, the aesthetically beautiful cars that they've been putting out the supercars over the past. They get a little bit bigger crime. And maybe I'm just speaking out loud because of my requirements. But no, I mean that's a that's a, that's a hell of a price point put in a little larger vehicle that has the bloodline of what they've been doing so expertly over the years. You know. I mean that's, that's, that's very attractive. Yeah, I think it's looks good. I think it looks good. I'd be curious to to get in it. I don't know when they're going to have them out here and put them in a press fleet and all that stuff. I'm sure it's going to take quite a while. But I am I am guessing we will be able to see that car in person in Monterey in August. I'm sure they're gonna have it out there seems like I would imagine you will be able to see shots from Goodwood. Yeah. Yeah. The festival speed is coming up. It would be a great place for them to, to bring out that GT and run up the hill and do that. We're not going to be able to make that either. I have not gonna be able to make that. Are you gonna festival speed? One is festival. So no, no. I don't think it's on the on the docket. Pre one of us share. Oh, before I forget, what is on? The docket is roadkill nights in Detroit. I don't know which day we're going to be there. It's going to be August, ninth or tenth. And as I said that saw Chris mile cursor you go to Detroit. Let's go. It's funny. I was on the phone with Karol of the other day in and we're trying to break down like, what are we doing to do Monterey? We gotta do this. We're gonna do that. And I said, said Goldberg, and I are going to Detroit. We gotta do road kill nights. I said, I wanna take Krista that when I need Krista produces show, and he's like I was like, well, it's going to be a Friday or Saturday. Okay. So now you got to keep reminding him to get it in his head to let you out of here. So on a Friday or Saturday to go do that. Sure you do. As out of New York, not listening to this, so we're going to do road kill nights in August. And then we come back and then like that following Wednesday. We're gonna head up to Monterey Monterey car week, which is another great of vent. All right. So that's the stuff on the Clarence. We've got some more stuff to talk about. But the end there. Yeah, I get they're going to be completely different animals probably fairly similar performance. Definitely not. I you know what? Now, you think about it. I don't know where that CA corvettes gonna come in price range, but the McLaren GT surprisingly is fairly entry level for the McLaren brand. I wanna say it starts at two hundred and ten thousand. I was I was I was filling out my. On that on that website. Yeah. Yeah. Started to Burley not work ends up. It doesn't it's funny. You mentioned that because the seven twenty s spider that I've got coming in. They sent me. Not the monroney, but it's kind of build. She'd Ford, I wanna say a it was like three sixty or three seventy. Was sort of the base price. Yeah, it was four seventy with the actors. Oh, it's every bit of four and a quarter believe is four twenty five for twenty seven or something like all right. So we got fifty thousand dollars of options on a car that should be fairly optioned out as it is. But it turned out a lot of it was just a lot more carbon fiber pieces, which is interesting because when I went online to the accurate website, and I built up an NSF several times. So you can get into Annetta sex one hundred seventy thousand all day long. But when you add, all of the cosmetic carbon-fiber pieces and carbon ceramic brakes and whatnot. You're at two hundred thousand dollars for an NSF X and. That's kind of tough. But it turns out the dealers, I think people are kinda wising up on that and they're saying, we don't need all the carbon fiber cosmetic pieces. And the way to get the one hundred sixty five hundred seventy thousand NS ex and and, and just have some fun with it from there. So this, this McLaren. As a GT car. It's it has very as beautiful interior. And it has storage that was a big thing. I don't know why we use the golf bag as a gauge for storage. But if it's the golf bag in the back, the back is a is a rear hatch. But it's you tend to forget that. Oh, you open the back, you're like, oh, let's rear Hatschi golf bag. It's got a lot of room. But then you kind of forget like this is still a rear mid engine placement. So you open the hatch and you put your bags down your groceries or whatever the engine still underneath. It's there. It's not front engine by any means like you when you get home halfway. Yes. So it's kind of like, I don't know. I'm thinking Porsche Cayman. The came in his rear mid, and you can kind of you can open the back and you can put stuff down, and, and, and so that's gonna be kind of interesting. So then I started thinking about the corvette c eight is the corvette going to be a hatch and you see the engine or is it going to be the hatch and you, you have storage components like so it's kind of interesting to see. What, what corvettes going to be doing without well could guarantee we can be guaranteed. They'll be more storage than than for GT. Drove definitely. More starts in the Ford GT. But I wouldn't say I got him here moot. And there. Right. Yeah. I could get two pairs boots. That's it. So the McLaren has the little Franck has the storage in the front and then it has the hatch area..

"Dot com. And of course, dodge, there's no better time to celebrate speed power and performance than during the dodge performance days. So hurry in and replace that new car smell with the smell of scent of the smell of Burt rubber. Yeah. Right. It's, it's combination of both. It's got new car smell and burn rubber. All right. So before we kick things off, we're going to get into this a little bit later in the week on the show is well, but I just want to give. Condolences to, to Nikki loudest, family, and we, we lost a legend in motor sports. Nikki it. One of the greatest f one drivers of all time as we're recording this he passed away yesterday at seventy years old. And I mean just the guy was amazing and smart and brutal and, and fantastic and we're going to we're going to break that down later in the week. But marking the ones also man, we get the I get to meet him. I'd good. Yeah. And those very brief though, you know, there's so many legends walking around there, and he obviously stuck out, but. You know, condolences to the family and it's just a Harbi. Yeah. He's gonna be we love him. He's. He's, he's got a he's got a wife at home. And he's got several kids and a tough life. Like I said, we'll get into the details later but between I think a kidney transplant and lung transplant and of course, thrive in the fire and. A tough gig and to be able to like you said, Siyam out an event like Goodwood see him at the race track and see them with a with a grin on his face and still being in the in that sport for so long, but a amazing story amazing person and, you know, I don't know all that much about him. But I certainly do from a motor sports standpoint. I do. I do love his story and admire what he's done and what he's overcome during the process. So anyway, there's that. Okay. So I noticed our buddy. Mark warming had posted some pictures of your truck. Have you spoken to Mark? What's if I could? If I can condense my reaction to bet statement, it would be the emoji with the green vomit again. You know, I've, I've said back here for over a year listening to you, and your car projects from time to time kinda going sideways. Yeah. And as a as a car guy, you know, I I empathize with you, but also as game. And your friends part of me giggles a little bit. Like a never ending story. And I've been very, very fortunate but Jesus crime any what the hell is going on with this truck. And I've got a set the record straight. I mean, we all obviously know what a wonderful guy, Mark warmness? Yeah. And all of the delay, and the issues, none of them have been is doing whatsoever. It's whether PCM's in or whether. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. One, one issue after another, so long story short after that picture was posted, you know, obviously, Mike excitement level was way through the roof. Then I get a phone call you are, and as well. We got a little problem to make an extremely long story that could go on for a year and a half short. This motor doesn't fitness. This a really I don't. I don't need to laugh, but. Open floor fifteen twenty six oh my gosh. I can't believe that the truck is maths. Oh, I is it too tall. Is it too wide? Why it's too. There are a number of areas. Now, we have come to inclusion that if we can put the motor. We can move the, the motor two inches forward. We're completely five. Yeah. You know, not only did we have the fabricate mounts for this thing because there were none available period. End of story. But now yeah, even the frames gotta be notched or the or the motives, gotta be put up two answers.

"Were going back five years or more that might change my answer because all the trucks are our new today okay okay then if you're going back five years or so i think the longest lasting truck the one that will go the furthest with the fewest amount of problems is the f one fifty if you're really serious about comfort dan i think the chevy or the gmc gmc myself and it's one of the most comfortable trucks i've ever been in and the ride is different interiors different and it'll go a long way i mean chevys chevy with the five point three liter v eight which is the most popular engine if it's maintained two hundred and fifty thousand mile truck assuming no previous issues such as rex or any of that stuff so you kinda gotta decide i think the ford is the better truck longterm but for comfort that was the word you used then i'd go with a gmc yeah i have another question what is the equal boots that'd be like in the news or yeah he came out in twenty eleven at that time the only choice was the three point five liter and it's great engine it's got a terrific has got a terrific record of reliability and it's my favorite because scott three hundred and sixty five horses it's.

"You by gmc podcast network i'm your host assey and to their first story because of course it is is about the on say seriously i'm not sure this woman can do anything without it just being all over social media but this is very interesting because of course it say i sort of furby on say in that she and her husband jay z released a a album together with them both on it not one featuring together but this is our album we did together they released an album called everything is love as the carters that already is sort of a oh they did what well but then they just dropped it in the same way she did a bit with her lemonade album no prior notice no news about a no build up of the fans going crazy oh i can't wait till it's released people didn't even know it was coming out and then they just announced it at their concert in london and they didn't even announce it with speaking it just went up on the screen album now available what i will what who what what are you talking about so of course people freaked out this was originally only available for streaming on tidal but then it was later released on spotify and apple music and of course it's already been viewed they made a music video for the song abe shit it's already been viewed many many times many millions of times on youtube make there's a lot of talk about it because they shot the music video in the lose the art museum in paris and somehow i can nobody seems to have known about this even though you like rented out the liuw like shouldn't somebody have been aware that you rented out the luth like that's not nothing that's not a small thing you rented out possibly the most famous museum in the world to shoot a music video and yet somehow we didn't really hear about this but there's also talked because they're clearly they're making a statement in the song and the music video about race about you know black people where they're accepted and where they're not and being successful and what that means for them as black people to be successful during a time when we're still going through a lot of different race things but there was also talk that maybe this album not that any of the tracks mississippi were specifically for dissing but because of the timing coming very quickly after nazda strapped johnson album that it seems like they were trying to undercut him or something and then it's like okay you released an album okay i'm going to do it to like and i can top you and also where together on this they had previously sort of denied that there they were doing a keep wanting to call it a group album but only the two of them in your husband wire so i don't know that that's technically group dual album carter's album just go with the carters album and said that you know rather that's what lemonade and then jeez album from last year we're about and that's where people are getting the rumors we did our own thing but then no actually we did do album together so the music video has i don't quite get it all and also i'm not very much into art so i wouldn't even necessarily i had to look it up to even get what some of the pictures were and it's like oh this one's about napoleon like oh is it okay i didn't know that i wouldn't have got it there's one about i think the the rape of the seibu women and it just opposing that with beyond say in her dancers and what that means but then also there's a jet supposing of a statue that seems to be kneeling with the kneeling of the nfl protests so they're clearly making very specific statements but it also because it's beyond say and we're just going to seriously that she just anything she does can immediately blow up on social media there is a moment and she's dancing a number of times in the video both by herself but then also with backup dancers there is a moment that's all.
