The iPad Air has a radical new design. But is it worth the hefty new price tag?

"You spent the last few days with the IPAD air. What do you think of this six hundred dollars? While at I thought is this is my favorite ipad of the lineup but that's because I like when something is a good value versus the top features and I feel like this kind of strikes that it reminds me of when the iphone ten are first came out. You know it was like the one that you like, Oh, it's stifled ten, but at a lower price. That being said, I'm very conscious of the fact that like in the past, the pro used used to have a few features that you really couldn't get another ads like pencil support or some keyboard stuff. That's no longer the case. So value I, keep looking back at the eighth Gen IPAD and what it brings to the table and while the IPAD air has USB. Fast looks just like an IPAD pro The IPAD Eighth Jen is basically the twenty nine IPAD air for less. Got It. Got It. So it's still the more basic, the older looking IPAD for you. Still the better bet I think. So now long-term better bet is relative because I also any get into this in the review of Apple's transitioning I, mean the MAC chips are going to be a in their in house stuff does that mean we're going to see mutation with Max and where even ipads go I don't know but in the year now the IPAD air is the at least built to the future with USB see But I think that the you know and also the newer accessories. But, the entry level IPAD. He could still get that pencil. You can still get a keyboard. And so I felt like it was fine. It's it's more ugly. It's not. It's not as great and an ipad in in overall feel but it's totally functional. It just the IPAD air is just nicer. eight using the word Nice but it is. It's a very slick. Beautiful little product well, dig a little deeper with that in terms of the highlights if if I am looking IPAD air like what are some of the features worth noting for this device, right? So the first thing you should know is what are using an IPAD for The IPADS are tween devices. Still they are doing a lot of stuff you could do on a laptop, but they still don't get all the way there. So there's frustrations if you're driving this as your main computer here, going GonNa find things for file storage multitasking, drive you crazy but the track pet support, which is available on all the IPADS. Now, all the recent ipads I love that, and it allows me to edit and work on an ipad a lot better so. That goes back to what you're saying on the IPAD air if you're using it because you wanna get something like the magic keyboard, which is three hundred dollars super expensive but the keyboard is really nice. Sure. That's a really nice package. It feels like a laptop and it also costs like a lap like an expensive laptop. It's like nine hundred, thousand dollars more. That, you're paying. So I I think. I think USB see is a huge advantage for dangles chargers in general compatibility I. Just think it's easier to shop for stuff with a really eight lightning. That still exists on modern apple products because I I think it's a hindrance. So I like that a lot and I think the display looks fantastic. It's good enough for multitasking and for other things, and that's kind of what you're using an IPAD for. It's like. Running to absent once writing a bit on it, watching videos on it. What else are you doing? Got The you made the note that this looks like an ipad pro. Essentially, what are the differences when you're weighing the decision between getting a step by pro verses? This what are you not getting this or what? What are the differences because they look almost same? They do and the use the same accessories. So which is also nice because apple's ipads don't always do that. Sometimes they subtly shifting body design. So you could use an eleven in Tripod Bro Accessory from twenty eighteen and it would still work like the keyboard cases and things. But I I think that the differences that's weird. You pay more for an IPAD pro but it's a device that came out back in March and has advantages, but also as a few drawbacks. So the advantages are. It has faster screen refresh rate the promotion, which is. Up to one twenty Erz which is nice and smooth, I mean the pro ipads are the only apple devices to have that. The, the iphones don't have that in the other ipads don't have that the display on the ipad pro is technically a tiny bit brighter but I didn't really notice it the IPAD pro as the lighter. De Scanning. which is really that's a niche thing but it is interesting if you are thinking about things like. mapping out a room and turning into a cad model or three D. Creation. You want to get involved in some of those tools at the iphone twelve pro as you could get it on the IPAD grow be can't get it on here. Cameras, are a little bit different at doesn't have face I D which I do face ID more on an IPAD iphone I feel like it logs in a little more smoothly. The touch ID side button is fine. data throughput his technically a little different it's it's it's a little bit slower on USB. See Five gigabits per second verses ten gigabits per second. There's quad speakers versus dualistic a lot of little things. But the dual speakers on the IPAD air are fine. So Those are the differences and you can tell it's like getting pretty fine. Fine hair-splitting. Microphones are better on the IPAD pro if you who's going to record using the built in microphones on an IPAD pro if you're a pro person, you know that's a weird subset. So that's like the long answer what you're saying basically, I don't miss the IPAD pro and the ipad pros performance it's faster and multitasking, but it's slower single tasking. which is also weird. So. You'd expect in a fourteen Z on the IPAD pro and rumors of many led. There's no lead I pad yet. But the that could come next year

Designing for, Marketing to, and Partnering With Gen Z

"If, you don't have to use using your product or talking about product or share your product. To, break it to you you're irrelevant, and so that's what every single company that is targeting consumers needs to care about whether you're a fortune five hundred company or whether you're a startup are their percents that jazzy has mental. Jansy considers anyone who is not really speaking their language or not understanding trends boomer. It doesn't matter if you're a millennial, it doesn't matter if your genetic doesn't matter of your boomer. Jets. BOOMER's anyway. Do you think though given how personalized Z. has preferences on that? There is a definitive. This is cool. This is not cool a changes weekly so you have to keep up. If you understand what's score not. Really hard on the wardrobe man to. Say that the difference between Jansy and millennials is much bigger gap than between millennials older generations I would say so because Gen Z. is the first generation that's mobile I and mobile native I totally agree millennials will say were mobile first but there's a lot of stuff that we still feel much more comfortable going to a computer to do they ticket purchases. We still feel like we're safer on the browser for some reason whereas Jesse's do everything from their phone right? It's like we're we're used to that. We're used to buy things from our phone signing documents from our full for better for worse requiring much more instant gratification. I'd say the youtube videos even now to me feel too long if the first minute is the person apologizing and trying to be politically correct, they just need to get to the point where the Roi has to be real. Yeah. If it's good content if it's entertaining content, then boomer out and you've lost us. When people say Okay I want to go be an influence are now before for millennials that was you became a youtube star now as A. More desirable to be tiktok influence Sir versus Youtube. One certain ones are clearly more easy to go viral on. Twenty nine percent of youth in America wants to become bloggers or youtubers versus twenty three percent want to become professional athletes. The more people want to become youtubers than athletes, which is a massive shift on the platform that Gen Z. wants to be an influence or on tiktok seems the easiest for people because we've obviously seen Charlie demilio becoming one of the biggest influencers in under a year the conversations around the actual talks right now are like living on other platforms, but it's Super Valuable Tiktok. Stars are all spending time on Youtube now. It's a natural growth phase so Are tiktok stars the new. Youtube. Stars. There's a whole correlation there in the sense that if you're big on Tiktok, the way you can really continuously build your audience status sustainable is on Youtube. But many have not been able to be successful on Youtube. It's more likely. They will not be successful actually because they haven't really adapted on how to make long form content there used to making sixty second videos which doesn't translate well to Youtube. You Wanna be making ten minute videos because that's how you monetize. There is no. Easy variety factor you just gotta be really good at distribution and marketing honestly especially in tech talk there so much remix name culture it's not necessarily original one, hundred percent. And maybe that's part of why it's hard when they translate to you to for the most part, you have to come up with something completely people who are really really good storytellers will be able to do. So across different mediums whether it's Tiktok whether it's you whether instagram weather's twitch I, think the shot from video especially the stuff on Tiktok it's what's the punchline what's the actual point of the video that makes it interesting and why it's so democratizing video creations you don't need to bring light to be a good tiktok crater. You literally just need your phone. Yeah. On Tiktok you get thirty seconds, you can record it with your phone you can have whatever quality of. Video and as a good story line, people will watch it and people shirt or if you're adding value to the viewers life. Young short videos are not just jokes I. Mean, I cringe when people say tiktok is a bunch of people dancing to music because I'm like you clearly have not use this thing. Right there's educational stuff on it. There's financial advice on Tiktok. There is stuff that teaches you how to cook. So short videos a really powerful form I think, and it's basically getting rid of the fluff that you don't need and delivering maximum value per second. Literally per second because you can lose the person after like three or four seconds of it's not good enough. To your point people talk just a fun lip synching at or dancing. APP. And it's not it's a place where he can learn anything you ever wanted to learn. Whether it's cars whether it's how to take photos how to model I've watched so many talk videos about videography tips and I phone tricks and all sorts of stuff, and it's just endless amounts of short form education

Xbox Doesn't Need Bethesda on PlayStation

"One is one that was breaking as we went live from a little boy named Steven Tolo over a cocoon. He has a giant interview with Phil Spencer, covering all manner of xbox series x the future game pass you name it but he also talks to him about Bethesda. I'm calling this one xbox doesn't need Bethesda on playstation. We will start in progress than jump a bit further during our forty eight minute chat. We covered those machines, of course, the next gen ones and a lot more ballooning game file sizes, the Bethesda deal and how Microsoft plans do enable next Gen gaming on current Gen Consul first let's talk about xbox series snl. Going to talk that now, joining them deeper for the things of course, Stephen does great work. This is a fantastic interview Phil. You should go check it out in Kentucky. But jumping into the Bethesda stuff it's ought to talk to a console maker about launching two consuls at once, but it's even stranger to be talking to them about a game company they just bought for seven point, five, billion dollars such are the peculiar times we live in in September Microsoft said it was buying cinemax the parent company of Bethesda in software and other top-flight studios that makes the likes of fall out of that might make the likes of fallout the other schools in doom. The planned purchase Amelie bolstered Microsoft's roster of internal studios. The deal will cap off the company's generation long shopping spree in attempt to counter the reps of rival Sony and unintended Oh which have both been long regarded as having stronger internal game making operations. The expanded roster of games also gives Microsoft a lot more content to bundle into their popular netflix style game pass subscription service in offer the via. The company's game streaming service, which lets players access games remotely in play them on their phones tablets devices. Spencer. That said in previous interviews that existing deals involving xanax Games would still be honored suggesting something like the time traveling game death loop will still come I. Two five is previously announced beyond that though fans have been beyond by have been wondering whether it's a Max Games would go xbox NPC only in other words they've wondered if playstation would stop getting fall-outs in miss out on the sequel. I wondered that to quote, is it possible to recoup? A billion dollar investment. If you don't sell elder scrolls six on playstation I asked says Stephen Yes it's been spencer quickly replied then he paused. I don't WanNa be flip about that. This deal was not done to take away from another player based like that nowhere in the documentation that we put together was, how do we key players other players from playing these games? We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to play to go play games but also say in the Model I'm not I'm just answering directly the question that you that you had when I think about where people are going to be playing the number of a and the number of devices that we had and we have cloud and. And Game Pass and our Council base I don't have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to make. An order to kind of make the deal work for. US, whatever that means end quote. We do know that Microsoft has made big studio purchase. has made a big purchase and kept his new franchise multi-platinum formed before that's what they did with Mo Yang and it's game minecraft. So it wouldn't be wild to see at five on playstation five period for now Spencer said the platforms for future is games will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and even if they make the Games multi-platform, Spencer's team can still boast in advantage cinemax games could be sold at full price on playstation, but offered at a large discount on the xbox platform is part of the ten dollars a month game pass subscription, a killer deal that already grants players launched a access to every new Microsoft published game. That was lots of read only. I'm sorry to make you just sit there and listen, but it's context to argument. We've all been having on a variety of podcast what this deal actually means. Elaine, what do you think do we see Bethesda Games the CINEMAX games now xbox games on playstation five in the future I would assume. So just because of the like logistical crap. Back End. Anytime money is involved with anything games. You are guaranteed that there's GonNa be some exclusivity of some kind. So that's what I would assume but as a game developer like. Like how Abbas many platforms as our games can be on the better us because that means we're reaching the most people. I have heard you know people who are so vested in the xbox ecosystem. Danny on earlier I've heard him talk about I've heard Paris talk about it effort all manner of conversation about this, and it's interesting to see the different sides people go to. Of course, it'll be multi platform, and then of course, it won't be you have this investment you seven point five, billion dollars right? Like why would you ever give that up and I? I. Find Myself Torn because I can make a case either way if I was a betting man right now at the, we're not even into the next generation. We don't know how these systems are going to run away. We don't know who's going to be the industry leader in how game pass nuts out. So and so forth. I would say that, yes, you will see the Bethesda Games you think of your big ones you're fall-outs your sky rooms, the ones with giant fan bases on other platforms being in that being playstation of course, because I do think that what Stephen Hits on at the end here is so powerful that if you are a fallout fan, if you are Sky Room Fan in, you are die hard for that franchise. Wouldn't you WANNA play it in the best place in the cheapest place to play it like I. Feel like xbox is making this argument that even if they put it on. And it was coming to playstation five and it is seventy dollars or you can pay fourteen dollars game pass ultimate stream it wherever you want play all these other hundreds of great games do all these different things. Again, this is the C. B. Unabashed in your marketing. This is the council we designed it for. This is where there's bells and whistles and were able to make use of all the teraflops and everything else the xbox series x can do like. Even though your advertising than it is on playstation for me that makes sense to hey, this is why you need to buy an xbox. Am I wrong? I mean, from my developer standpoint I, don't like to be honest I don't. I don't care. Side. Please listen listen like when it comes to studios making games like regardless, we need to buy developer kids for all consoles. And to like look at it from the perspective of studio whether they are owned by a parent company or not. There is financial conversations any to be had what if cool you have seven billion dollars by being an exclusive of Microsoft right because of that whole transaction. But what if you have the door open for another seven billion? branching off from other different console. So why wouldn't you take the fourteen billion and just go with a seven? So like to me like a as a developer that's what I would think of That's all executive decisions by the way US developers have. frigging say in any of this. But I could definitely say from the developer perspective having franchises that have already been established like scarring and having a the ability to understand how they work in different consoles than. Or even importing that stuff to a very specific console that has very specific hardware and perhaps very specific requirements. That's definitely GONNA be a challenge for of studios and that happened with a PS three actually that I recently found out. That the PS three, that architecture was so difficult. Was Terrible. Exactly. It was so difficult that like games like there had really tough time studios making cancer, the PS three, which is now what makes sense that we can have backwards compatibility specifically with three because it was a frigging nightmare to to deal with on the back end so i. Was a great example of that. If you remember. Sky. Room. Right was incredibly broken the longer. You played the way that game watch compiled information eventually made it unplayable and drop the frame rate and it took them forever to fix. That wasn't a quick fix but it wasn't you're talking about of working with different architectures and trying to figure all this out. Yeah. So let's To me in my mind that is number one concern when it comes to all these franchises like is it possible to to do the franchise and Change Architecture of the entire game works so that it works on that council specifically or can we what we call re factoring, which is reusing things that have been done before can reactor so that we can continue to stay on the next generation of the councils that we work with before So it's it's a lot to. Think. About. Nearing, like. Many Kudos in the engineering teams all over the Games industry because they definitely have to deal with a lot of crap that they are not given credit for when it comes to figuring hundred. These Situations Making Games is incredibly difficult and I think all of us is fans. Yeah. You know it as being a developer eighty line meteorite like you see it from side that I only interview people talk over drinks with people about like I hear these horror stories and can't imagine a day to day, and then not even a removed the horror stories from it just in general making magic from nothing like making games is a magical thing and we totally take that for grant. We totally don't give that credit, take it for granted. Yeah, and sit there like, Oh, well, why did they just hit the button in Puerto over and make this work and how hard could it be to go between the PS five in an xbox series x Can Be the difference of the night and day Ryan because I terry. Systems are to hardware. So

When Tim Cook was back on camera, he took a moment to Brag on iphones past noting the iphone eleven has been the number one smartphone in the world since its launch and that I phone has led the industry in customer satisfaction every year since it's Get ready to hate all of them as the iphone twelve line makes the scene bringing with it five G. Connectivity. Which one? All of them. Had Been Rumored Apple announced four iphone phone twelve models and has had also been rumored. Each can support five G.. Cook says, five G. Brings A new level of performance for downloads UPLOADS, higher quality video streaming, more responsive gaming, real time interactivity, and more. The CEO says five Jia superfast, which he actually pitched as a security feature speeds are so good. He says you'll be less tempted to sign on the public WIFI limiting exposure to the dangers that lurk there. Every decade brings new technology that provides a step change in what we can do with iphone said Cook. Today. A new era begins for iphone. Today we're bringing by G. to phone. Then began the verizon commercial. Hans Fest Berg Chairman and CEO. Verizon took to the stage talk about big reds five G. offering. Verizon's by ultra wideband with large quantities of millimeter wave access will be live and sixty cities across the US by the end of this year. In ideal conditions, Best Burg says the carriers seen four gigabits down and two hundred megabits up. The four gigabits is kind of funny own Antonio Guy says an ideal conditions. Well it doesn't sound like you're getting four GIGA beds but we'll get, him. The other thing best Burger announced was flipping the switch on Verizon's extensive five gene nationwide network. That apparently went live yesterday. Boy would I like to know the terms of the deal worked out between, that bill and Verizon? Emphasis on particular carrier. I did not see coming. Now I said iphone twelve comes in four models here the rumor mill rang true. The phones are iphone twelve iphone twelve many iphone twelve pro and iphone twelve pro, Max. Starting with iphone twelve, remember the squared off edges of iphone Four. The new design returns us to that. Squared edges that meet flush with the devices front and back glass the front classes something special though. Working with corning delay, this display is protected by what apple. Calls Ceramic. Shield. It is said by the company to be tougher than any other smartphone class with four times better dropped performance than iphone eleven. The display it's protecting is apple custom Ole ed providing truer blacks, better contrast and two times the pixels iphone eleven or four, hundred, sixty pixels per inch. While that displays the same six point one inches iphone eleven, apple shrank the surrounding enough to make iphone. Eleven percent than her fifteen percent smaller and sixteen percent lighter than iphone. Eleven Choice of colors is not huge but they are pretty. With options and black. White Product Red Green. And blue that. Does things for me. I shouldn't talk about in mixed company. The candy coating is nice. Let's talk about. It's Chewy. Chocolate center starting with the phones five Genus Apple says, iphone twelve has the most five G. bands of any smartphone for better performance in more places. Additionally the company's silicon, the software approach. Let's apple make the best use of available five G. including choosing to not use five. G.. It sounds like iphone defaults to lt e tapping into five G. when it's both necessary and available. That is great for power consumption according to the company. Apples tested the new phones on over one hundred carriers and over thirty regions. In ideal conditions iphone twelve gets up to three point five gigabits on. which is what makes the Brian Bragging about four gigabytes down kind of funny yesterday. It does support millimeter wave those so. got that going for it. As, for the phones on workings iphone twelve powered by apple's a fourteen bionic, the first phone powered by the five nanometer processor technology packing eleven point eight billion transistors roughly forty percent more than eight thirteen. A six core CPU that's up to fifty percent faster than last year's phone and a four core GPU graphics that are up to fifty percent faster than last year's model. Machine learning also gets a boost iphone, twelve packs of sixteen coordinator and Gen that's up to eighty percent faster than iphone eleven capable of eleven, trillion operations per second. Company bragged on Games claiming console quality for the phone. To Demonstrate and executive from riot games showed off League of legends wild rift a mobile, only game due out later this year. Well phone twelve is not the phone photographers would choose. There's plenty of improvement and it's cameras. Apple says the phone has a twelve megapixel ultra wide camera and twelve megapixel wide camera. It said the sport, the fastest aperture yet it also features a seven element lens that apple says offers twenty-seven percent improvement in low light performance. Mag Save is an internal thing. Rather than a name for a connector is in days of old MAG. Safe today is a collection of magnets and charging elements that help line up the phone for proper charging. When it's not charging those magnets go to work holding on cases and wallets and third party stuff. Apple expects a thriving ecosystem of third party doodads take advantage of the newly introduced MAG. Safe. Ness. Mag Safety. Safe thing. Anyway. It's a thing built into iphone twelve. Every model in the line. Now's probably phone twelve many. Except for the size, you can take everything I've said so far about iphone twelve and play it back. iphone twelve many has the same specs as iphone twelve though in a slightly smaller size. The company says the mini is smaller and lighter than four point seven inch models like iphone eight but with a bigger five point four inch display. Apple says, this one is the smallest thinnest and lightest five G. phone. In the world. Talking about last night with Frederik, Van Johnson, and a few other folks on Chuck joiners Mac. Voices. We came to the conclusion that the pro phones for two groups, people who wanna spend as much money as they can afford. Or people who really care about the camera. There's nothing wrong with the camera functionality and the iphone twelve or iphone twelve many. Unless you count they're not being as high end as the camera on the high end. No I'm not a high end photo guy. So there was a lot set around iphone twelve pro, an iphone twelve pro Max that escapes me. The camera on iphone twelve pro boxes said by apple to have a sixty five millimeter focal length from fifty two millimeter focal length and last year's counterpart. It's got five times optical zoom range and the set to support an eighty seven percent improvement in low light versus last year's top of the pro line. I do know enough to be impressed by one thing. The pro line can shoot an apple pro raw. or it will be able to with a software update. Later, this year photographers will also be able to edit those images. Directly, in the photos APP. The pros can also handle. HD are video recording catching seven hundred million colors. Sixty Times, the number they could capture before. Apple, said they also sport the first smartphone camera that'll record in dolby vision hd are. And just like the apple pro raw functionality users will be able to edit the dobie vision HDR video in the photos APP. Finally the light are rumors were finely true the twelve pro and twelve pro Mac speech or a world facing light detection and ranging scanner. That let folks scan and modeled their surroundings. Apples Demos showed that put to use for placing objects in an augmented reality environment performing improved autofocus and low light and improving camera that perception in low light for night moat. Working our way out of these phones, Greg, Joswiak, apple's newly minted senior. VP Worldwide Marketing talked about a few of the pro lines features. It's got mad safe. It's got ceramic shield. It's got a Super Ratna FDR display. As for sizes iphone twelve pro gets bumped from five point eight inch display display size of six point one inches the pro Max meanwhile goes six point five inch display to a display size of six point seven. All of it is bound by the same squared off edges as iphone twelve, the with a couple of distinctions. I. The outer band is stainless steel on the pro line and second the colors are a bit more refined. Coming in silver graphite a gold that looks seriously golden. And the Pacific. Blue that doesn't do as much for me as the blue on the IPHONE twelve. Not that I'd turn it down. If cost is your primary concern. Here is what you're looking at across the whole line of iphones. iphone se. Start Three, hundred, ninety, nine dollars iphone ten are starts at four ninety, nine iphone eleven starts at five, ninety, nine iphone many starts at hundred ninety, nine dollars iphone twelve starts at seven ninety, nine, iphone twelve pro starts at nine, ninety nine. An iphone Pro Max starts at one, thousand, ninety, nine dollars. For the new phones though those prices are only Kinda SORTA true. Peace, from the Mac Observer says iphone twelve many an iphone twelve do start at six, ninety, nine and seven, ninety nine if you buy them as a t and T or verizon phones if you buy one is either a sprint or t mobile phone or as an unlocked phone. The starting prices are seven, twenty, nine, and eight, twenty nine. With no indication as to why. While it's great that ceramic shield means less of a chance of broken display. The chance is still there. If that bugs, you apple care pluses there for all of them. macrumors says, two years of coverage will run one, hundred, forty, nine dollars for iphone and twelve mini. Adding loss or theft protection will up that price to to nineteen buyers can get ongoing coverage for seven, ninety, nine per month or eleven dollars and forty nine cents with loss and theft added. As for the higher end phones, the pizzas, two years of Apple Care Plus will cost one, nine, thousand, nine or nine dollars ninety nine cents per month. Theft. And loss coverage bumps that price to two, hundred, sixty, nine dollars or thirteen dollars and forty nine cents per month. Ongoing. As for availability, apple is starting in the middle. PT will live on for another generation with the PS5 backwards compatibility

"Sony started talking about backwards compatibility and certainly as we've kind of indicated throughout the beginning of the show, a lot of what is going to make this next generation playstation five, xbox series. X, and S A. Compelling, at least at the beginning is the backwards compatibility now Microsoft is. Doing it in a very, very big way. We saw a bunch of of publications have series X on hand and test out the backwards compatibility features of it how it adds. Quick, load times and up resing and You know people who I saw Keeley. Talking about playing blinks on at the the time traveling game I. Think it was original xbox. Title. So. There's all these people playing fusion frenzy on it and getting all these. Crazy You know fast frame rates on these old gains in and seeing how the new hardware handles it well, Sony. FAC about how they're handling. Words compatibility evidently on day one for the playstation five. Over four thousand playstation four titles will be playable on ps five and many of them will or I shouldn't say many we don't know how many. But some of them will benefit from a what they're calling game boost is a lot like the Microsoft feature on Sirius X. that makes current games run with higher or smoother frame rates on next Gen systems specifically, they named checked last of us to and ghost of Sushi Emma go sushi mall in particular the devs have said there will be a a new a new toggle a new option in the menu to enable faster frame rates Siri thought. I. Was talking to her no Siri not talking to you. Do. Enable a smoother frame rates, which is weird to me like why do I need to toggle it? I guess it makes you feel good when you're like, yes. I. Can toggle the toggle but I do the faster frame rate like why would I not want that I don't understand but But for it's a four thousand games that will be backwards compatible backwards compatible. So the vast majority of playstation four titles, there are some notable accession exceptions and there is also this language in the FAC about some games on PS four. May quote exhibit errors or unexpected behavior when played on ps five and Sony is warning that before purchasing any add on's to a playstation four game on ps five tried booting it and playing it on playstation five to see if your quote happy with the play experience.

Concerns over food insecurity grow amid COVID-19 pandemic

"Has created an economic disaster for millions of families, one that the nation's safety that hasn't been ableto handle. Millions of people have been thrown out of work with no new jobs to be had, and many of the measures designed to help them. Things like supplemental unemployment benefits and eviction moratoriums have run their course. They engaged in a lot of necessary coping strategies and trade off folks. They're making difficult trade off between painter of food and medical care, food and utilities. Food and transportation and helping Jessica Hager is director of health and Nutrition for Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks and the country's second biggest charity, she says Before the pandemic about 35 million Americans or 1/9 of the population lived in households that were food insecure without the resources to get adequate food. Since mid March. It's gotten much worse family's air having to decide whether to pay the rent or buy food. Food banks are crowded. We have projected right now that there'll be 54 Million people are one in six could be sued and secured this beer in 2020. We've also projected that food and security Rachel increase in every single county in the United States in 2020, so this could be a 21 and three adults and one and two Children could experience it in Korea this time again due to that. Economic impact that has been in effect around the pandemic. No individuals whose job individuals relying on their savings to make their way through experts in hunger, No, that family's suffering from food insecurity have a variety of goto strategies to try to stretch scarce food dollars. Hagar says. 55% of food insecure families have used at least three of the strategies are things such as receiving help from friends? Purchasing an expensive unhealthy food, which we, of course know in the long term has an impact on health, telling their personal property where, if possible, which isn't for all, of course, but growing food in their own garden. Anticipate. Families have continue to engage and they trade off in coping strategies while also trying to manage the difficult circumstances of managing the disease and being out of social distance increased normally have even in normal times. Many families go in and out of hunger, depending on economic circumstances. But today a lot of people are gig workers or freelancers whose income is far from consistent. What is certainly common or not unusual for there to be seasonal food insecurity or one coming in and out of the security and that against you Point gig economy. It could be our essential workers who are farmers, and much of their income is based on seasonal rotation of crops. We also know of course, that folks began as they're making tree off. Sometimes their assets are coming in, and they're able to live off those for quite some time. But a situation may come or a health crisis cooker that's unexpected in that put someone in a food insecure state, though it does change depending on a variety of circumstances, and also note that we have a lot of built in inequalities within our structures institution in this country. And so though helpful, maybe doing Well and being able to make ends meet for many years. There may be the circumstances that change the last idiotic cetera. That family made their individual, maybe food insecure for a period of time until they're able to re secure that financial foundation for their life Being food, insecure, even for just a little while, is a major risk factor for poor health. A recent study in the sage journals shows that independent of all other factors, food insecurity, Khun drastically increase the chances of an early death. We found that the drift of the people in America who are secure Eventually have a high chance of dying from any cause of that heart disease. And that is a striking finding good extended dance of death for insecure people After 10 Years of increases, 50%. That's Dr John Dee, scooped on Donny, professor of Public Health at New Mexico State University co author of the study, not a sophisticated multiple models. Adjusting for different types of actors. And yet no matter how much you account for just being food, insecure from a few years after a long duration, profound impact on someone's help. On the train, the heart, the liver, the kidney, and so any cause of death is more prominent in for insecure people essentially being food, insecure challenges your body medical autism, and then you're depending on your supply in the body, putting supplies. And those declining over time and eventually the challenger system so heavily but a liver stops function and people underground Club Gen. Donny says the increase in heart disease death as a result of food insecurity is especially striking 75% greater over 10 years than in people who are not food in secure. The reasons are fairly clear. Cheaper foods are generally less heart healthy. And there are few things more chronically stressful than not knowing where your next meal is coming from when an individual is going through this difficult and very stressful, my nontoxic, stressful experience that if they're making a stray off, perhaps again purchasing, inexpensive and healthy food That can lead to perhaps previously controlled diet related diseases becoming uncontrolled, uncontrolled diseases. Such a society that can lead to complications like kidney disease, identities and nerve damage. Often food insecurity and poor health combined to create a vicious cycle with no way out. If someone enters a cycle of food, insecure or their household is experiencing an unexpected and extensive medical crisis are often forced to engage in the financial coping strategies. And it includes the consumption of cheaper foods often that are hiring calories. But Lauren nutritional value and the reliance on the left healthy food can lead to poor nutrition and chronic diet, really, and diseases. Ensuring these diseases can worsen existing disabilities or other illnesses and results in an inability to work and bring in that previously the cheese income. What's more, the

The Brainwashing of my Dad (with documentary filmmaker Jen Senko)

"My mother thinks that rush limbaugh. Yoda you know what? Saying? She's always saying well, rush limbaugh says. Our rush had a great monologue. It was just on point. Oh it's he so tuned into the Culture Rush Limbaugh g listen to rush limbaugh the other day and of course I know I don't listen to rush limbaugh. I did fifteen years ago. You know I was a Ditto head actually read for you a chapter about right wing radio on the broadcast I read it out of my book couple of weeks ago. But I wanted to come back to this because I feel like it's Really been on my mind and it's hugely relevant in today's culture. We've got a whole group this graphic of these pulpit pounding Bible Banging, rush, limbaugh right, Wing Radio Listening Evangelical 's right the Christian Nationalists and they're screaming the name of God is they use their religion just to be Shitty to other people. May I've noticed that about a lot of these guys limbaugh Michael Savage, etc. they're just nasty people. They are always being cruel to other people there pushing buttons because they can. They're stoking the fires of outrage and they sit back and bask in the ratings and the advertising dollars and. All the way to the bank. There's this I think it's a myth that rush limbaugh is himself a Christian. I. Know He likes to speak the language of Christianity. I'm not convinced the Guy Cares at all about the Bible or religion of any kind and back I'd love to sit them down and give him like a sixty second Bible quiz just to see how much he really in fact I'd like to sit most the evangelical 's in power. Donald. Trump I'd like to give him a Bible quiz. Let's just sit down and let me quiz you for a couple minutes. Betsy Devos loved to talk to her Ben Carson Rick, Perry all these people in government are banging their. Bibles I would love to sit them down and asked him basic questions about their faith. But that's a whole other conversation. Today's conversation is with the director and producer of a film called the brainwashing of my dad, an ambassador father who SORTA got sucked in to this rush limbaugh right-wing Radio Christian, nation, kind of narrative focusing at the very least and narrative that sort of others, non-christians, sort of sets them off in their own little box while the moral righteous people are sitting over here. Now, the film itself is not new. It's been out for a few years but I referenced it in my book and I just it's been on my mind because. There is so much of this going on and right-wing radio. I don't think it's ever been more popular. There's video of this conversation. I am going to play some clips from the documentary during the broadcast. These clips add a few extra layers. So you can kind of hear the angle that she's taking Gen Sankoh Director of the documentary film, The brainwashing of my dad. So glad you're here. Hi Seth, it's nice to be here. Give me like a resume real fast the types of work that you've done before the brainwashing my dad. Sure. Will I started out as an artist and a painter? But then I felt like I wanted to reach a wider audience and I just started making films but they were always sociopolitical. The Sue. The first one was roadmap warrior women about really independent women that I met out west and then the second was was. co-director with fury derosa the vanishing city. About the lecture vacation of New York City. But also how it's happening throughout the world and cities coming less affordable and right now I'm writing a book. Also called the brainwashing of my dad. Got Picked up by source books so I can always tell you more. Fun, I mean. Let's go back to your dad. You didn't grow walk in this sort of right wing I mean I know limbaugh started back in the eighties but I mean, you didn't come from that sort of hardcore conservatism. nope. Not at all my parents were what I guess. I would describe as very liberal, very open minded. They were Kennedy Democrats and they were also like FDR Democrats they came from the depression. So FDR them was a hero who pull them out of the depression they most remembered hoover and felt like he didn't do anything but they were really enthusiastic about. And I think they were quite devastated. When he was assassinated. But yeah, they were they were I would actually list describe them as hippies before hippies same. We're very open minded My Dad especially loved talking all different kinds of people very non judgmental. As you probably saw the film, you know one time in this is in the sixties. We came out and port. Authority. We're visiting New York. For the day and there was a a black homeless man and she US Monday for some money my dad called him Sir had a conversation with them. And gave them like a couple of coins or two, but you know so they kind of thing made an impression on me that. You know accept all people and jobs. You know he wasn't for they were judgmental national change later.

The Latino Vote in 2020

"Bernard will thank you so much for being on Latino radio with me. I. It's great to be here when it's finally great to connect as I was saying before. Big Admire of what you do, I don't know where you get the stamina and energy to all of the different things that you do. It's I don't know either. But I just keep you love what you do. You love what you do and and I'm first of all congratulations. I caught the film Kudos to you because. on. A couple levels. It's perhaps the first film I've seen. That actually gets into the nuances. So thank you. I've been I've been waiting for it so I I appreciate that and it means a lot coming from you. And I think you know I don't know exactly how old you are but I imagine we're close Gen-x, I'm genetic. So so am I so we are does already. But but you know I think for those of us who have been covering this you know I'm a I'm a documentary filmmaker. I'm not a not a print journalists or radio journalist, but I've been covering. Latin. Next Latino issues for most of my life wasn't my career and I think our generation we really got Steph to with the coverage being about the so called sleeping giant app you know my God that ridiculous term and And so it was exciting to be able to. Try to go after that nuance of diversity perspectives in kind of meaningful way. Obviously for me my team, the big thing was the like everyone else in the world was the pandemic and it just made. You know producing. Challenge because it's interesting I do WanNa talk about that. But but because what was interesting pre pandemic because I was covering the election I was actually in Las Vegas that weekend? And it was really intr the caucus right and actually went to a caucus and was on MSNBC in talking about it and everyone was talking about Bernie and everything, and it was fascinating to see you capture not only that but Texas and sort of this narrative that was coming out about the Latino vote and I can just see the thread right I'm watching it and I'm like Oh my God this is remember pre pandemic or this was wow this is a thing like you captured it and then all of a sudden boom. So talk to me about how it started because the beginning of the film to me really. You did a lot of to really begin to look at what was going on and then all of a sudden it took a detour but but but how has a filmmaker? How did you adapt because I was fascinated that you still went and because I want to talk about how you filmed the rest of it but but talk to me about the beginning and then the detour so you're you're absolutely right. So we you know. The production came together quickly I was just in the lead up to the Nevada caucuses I was I was raising money just hounding funders to get money to do this, and you know it's still always a little bit of a battle to. Communicate the importance of this story but we just got funding and I was doing what you are doing, which has to be you know to be boots on the ground, follow the campaign, and as you pointed out the narrative at the time was the very the deep enthusiasm for Bernie Sanders especially among Mexican, American voters younger lat next voters obviously there was just this groundswell of support that we heard from organizers, and so we're going to follow that story. You know what? There's this very clear enthusiasm for sanders among young Latino voters in black and Brown voters in general, and where is that going to go on at the time obviously Biden was incredibly weak. He showed very poorly at the caucuses. As, we all experienced and. I I was just struck personally by how much enthusiasm there was for Sanders I. In my lifetime you hadn't seen anything like that me neither I remember one night after a production day. Been Shooting all day and I was in a lift with my crew on the way to a restaurant probably have some drinks. After, grueling day and talking to lift driver, who's May he Gano and know of course I was asked to bring him with questions. You know who are you gonNA. Vote for are you interested in the caucus, etc And he said, you know something that to me was very telling He said, I'm GonNa vote for for Bernie for Bernie because my daughters are in college and they got really excited about him and so they influenced me to vote you know. So this is a story that you heard in a lot of places that younger voters were influencing their parents. So that was like the you know I was very interested in following that and what was going to happen on up in the lead up to Super Super Tuesday. So that was kind of the narrative is basically follow the campaign trail as it relates to the next vote and then see how it's all going to play out. None of US anticipated the pandemic. That was the

Gamescom 2020 Highlights: COD Black Ops Cold War

"Off talking about games. Calm our conversation that we had about the launch of one of the largest video game industry events in the entire world that although it was canceled originally due to Cove in 19 held online, they had some amazing video game announcements. Let's check that out right now. A checkpoint. To be your home for East boards of video games games come. One of the biggest video game trade shows of the year is is usually usually held held in in Germany. Germany. But But due due to to covert covert 19, 19, they they had had to to have have it it virtually. virtually. And And that that went went down down over over the the past past week. week. Dropping Dropping some some big big gaming gaming announcements. announcements. Robbie Robbie What What did did we we see see from from the Games? Calm? Well, first of all, like you said, This is one of the big three alongside e three and the Tokyo game show. So after this I mean, you know, looking ahead for the rest of the year. Any other big announces that we get are going to have to come. Specifically from the developers themselves, whether that Sony putting out their own announcement or Microsoft sort of doing their own thing, and I think a lot of people were hoping that we'd finally get stuff like you know, the reveal of what's the price going to be for the next Gen. You know, when's the actual date gonna be, but unfortunately, it was still just just more trailers, which I mean, I don't want to downplay that There was still a lot of great stuff and that's we're going to go through here today with some sort of some of the highlight ones, the ones that really sort of grabbed my attention and we're going to start Is with the the game that I wish they probably would have at least titled a little Bit. Better Call of duty black ops to Cold War. Dude, did you see? Okay, So how many titles going to get them right in the trailer of it? They have Ronald Reagan, Reagan, Which Which is is the the mean mean picture picture that that I I saw saw Go Go everywhere everywhere out out of of nowhere. nowhere. Is Is that that gonna gonna do do you you think think it's it's going going to to be be any any good good because, because, like like they're they're returning returning to to four four V V four? four? Which Which is a thing that the professionals of the CDL have been complaining about for years and years and years. But do you think that like casual players like the three of us here? Is this a move that we like? I've I've never personally been all that involved in the multi player version of Call of duty. I know that's where a lot of people have got their start gravitate to, but I was actually Mohr you know again. For me, it's always about the narrative in the story for me, was always the campaign and what's actually really cool about this? All the changes that they're making they're making to the campaign is, well, the single player version of it nice, and they remind me a lot of the stuff that you'd hear from RPG. So, for example, you get to customize your own like main character really playing it? Okay, There's also going to be certain points where you as the player Get to decide what to do. Next was the decision I make. What's the past that I take? They will change the way the game plays and can also lead to multiple endings for the game. Very interesting. Well, I'm not saying this one s O black ops. I think the first one that's like one of the main like campaigns have actually played and call of duty. I honestly think I played that campaign more than I played has like psychological plot twist like, Look, your operative like in Cuba, like you're doing all this stuff behind this. It's more like Blockbuster. Yeah, my my movie. So if it's anything like the first one, I'm excited and check out the black ops, too. But

US House Democrats Crafting New $2.2 Trillion COVID-19 Relief Package

"House. Democrats are preparing smaller corona virus for the leaf package. All right. So it's a trillion dollars less than their last proposal, but a trillion dollars more than what Republicans are ready to do. So they split. That More, but roughly, so they split the difference source tells us that the two point four trillion dollar package would include enhanced unemployment insurance stimulus checks, small business loans, and aid to airlines, and it says here you can talk to the right or the price tag is still about a trillion dollars more than the Republicans latest offer. But. But thought the skinny deal was something like seven or eight, hundred, billion dollars trillion dollars. Rounding now I think and I. Know They are in Congress Lana rounding lot around rounding going on. In fact, they probably call this isn't there I mean if you're. Just, a couple of hundred billion. So why not round that around? That's right well like we really have to pay. Right it the idea that it looks like they're getting closer together but not really I, mean, they're still talking about a massive difference between the two sides and I don't think there's much chance Manuchehr yesterday they're ready to restart talks but didn't give a timetable for any of that and I don't see how this happens before the election I just don't. Probably not and. I think both it's weird because I think. I mean you saw Goldman Sachs yesterday for for GDP for not the third quarter but for the fourth quarter from six to three. Based on. You know not having prospects for more stimulus so I can tell you that. The election will be over but I think the administration would like six percent a lot more to be able to brag about that although we're going to get that flash number for third quarter which should be. Twenty plus. like two weeks before a week and a half before the election. So you're going to hear how great debt is biggest-ever I guess twenty, three, twenty, four percents we heard from Brian Moynihan yesterday who said that you should have additional aid, but it should be targeted the Democrats in this latest thing that they've put forth still have payments going directly to people you know payments across the board president trump has mentioned that be something he'd be interested in but I think it. Makes a lot of sense and and this is something you would probably hear from most of the Republicans with the smaller in the Senate with the smaller package that they've signed off on the idea of sending a blank check to ever sending a check to everybody regardless of whether or not you've been impacted on this. We'll probably pass the time of needing to do something like that. You need to get it to the businesses into the people who are suffering the most right now. Yes greed agreed.

"Microsoft's first one terabyte expandable storage drive for the xbox series x slash s will be priced at two hundred in nineteen ninety, nine best buy started taking pre orders for the accessory revealing a final price that had leaked recently. These expandable storage cards slot into the rear of both the xbox series x slash s to match the internal SSD speed and provide one terabyte of extra storage. Microsoft's expandable storage solution is proprietary and only see it has been announced as A. So, far, Microsoft. Microsoft. Tells me more suppliers and additional sizes will be available in the future but the two hundred and twenty dollars price tag is will surprise many potential next Gen xbox owners. The xbox series ships with one terabyte of SSD storage and the xbox series s just five hundred twelve gigabytes of storage Microsoft's pricing means that the two hundred, ninety, nine, xbox series x today jumps to nearly five hundred twenty dollars if you want to add the additional storage and bring it up to one point, five terabytes. That may not make the larger series x more upside that may make larger series x more appealing to those who need the storage particularly as games will start to require once the enhanced for the XBOX series x slash S. Games for the XBOX SERIES S Canby thirty percent smaller than the series x, which will certainly help storage options. Marketing To Gen Z

"Takes for joining me today Sarah. Much for having me Dan. I am thrilled and we are going to be talking today about marketing degen's E.. So just so critically important. So I would really love to start with asking you to. Explain how Jansy e customers are different than a millennial customers. Will first of all the Gen Z. and not many people know this but they are the largest living generation today. So fifty one percent of the world population is under twenty five today and it is a whole new world out there. They are changing the game for just about every industry out there and I mean who if the stereotype is true man that's a lot of brunch. But so they're different than millennials for few key reasons, and basically it's for a few reasons about why they. Different different things that happened while they were growing up. And the different environmental factors, different parenting styles, that kind of thing. So the first key reason why they're different whether or not the same that there was a huge shift in parenting styles. So we went from terms like helicopter parenting, Tiger parent to a new kind of parenting style with the other twenty, five, hundred, twenty, six, crowd called tech parenting, and with instead of doing things for their kids parents were. A little more hands off they were teaching their kids, how to find things for themselves online using technology, and they basically have re as a result they've raised a generation who's a little bit more independent than millennials, but also what they did almost inadvertently that they scared. The. Crap out of them about. Anything. That could go wrong online everything from online predators to identity theft and everything in between, and so you've also got this generation WHO's more risk averse millennials? So. In addition to that, they were raised unlike millennials who are raised in a boom economy. This generation was raised in a time of war and recession they were born after these. These are post nine eleven babies. They were born at a very different time and they have seen parents. Lose jobs, take pay cuts, clip coupons budget in a way that millennials never did while they were growing up. And so are actually far more fiscally conservative. I will say I I. Say that term and people go oh so they're cheap they're gonNA love coupons. That's not totally true. The actually just want more value for their money and they're very concerned about the value for their money. They're not a I wouldn't call them cheap this as a whole generation, but I would say they're more concerned with okay. What am I going to get for my money they're not? As concerned with coupons and sales and promotions as past generations. They actually are much more interested in social engagement then coupons or sales, which is the first generation to really be to really take that on. Their hungry because they were raised in a recession because of all the being fiscally conservative all of that. They are hungry for work They're not you know. Coming out of school in going on at, take off a year and go explore Europe or. Nobody's doing that right now. But really like for the past few years this generation as they're entering the workforce, they're just ready to get to work. They're hungry for work their side. GIG savvy they have like multiple jobs they've probably they're very entrepeneurship and fact sixty, one percent coming out of high school say that they don't want to work for somebody else they want to start their own businesses. So it's a huge. Shift in just a very it's a much more entrepreneurial mindset and they're not waiting till the get out of college either to start their businesses are just starting them in high school in college like they're just doing it on the side because the technology is so readily available.

"We'll keep you posted on that, but. Yeah. I think that it's such a good lesson to take away from all of this because we get stuck in these scenarios where we're so desperately looking for an emotional need that was not met in childhood to be Matt with a romantic partner. That dynamic will never work it won't. We will always end up in situations where we're resentful blaming. We're mad. We're in these dynamics phil really familiar bunk comfortable. And so I think being able to have the tools to look within an understand what's coming up and then meet that need ourselves is just it's crucial. But? I feel like I. Do want to back up and ask you. Don't know that we've necessarily talked about it on the podcast before, but like what is an abandonment wound for someone who doesn't understand or or kind of? What do you mean when you're talking about world? Yeah I think that. For my own abandonment wound and when when we mentioned on the podcast. We're talking about. At least in my experience in my childhood. I. experienced. Neglect and Abandonment with my both. Of My parents and ways. Because they were. Emotionally, unavailable a lot of the times or struggling with their own pain that they they were just not able. To be there for me or Validate me or see me understand me, weren't they also like actually physically unavailable because they were working to. Yeah both my parents worked a lot. My Dad was on my dad was in med school and. was at one point in my childhood. We were living in Maine, but my divers in Boston most days out of the week, so he just like physically wasn't there. And as a child. I don't think that either. My parents of course were intentionally neglecting me or abandoning me, but. As a child that is how I interpreted. and so that is the abandonment one. And and And the I mean it's taken me this. This long to kind of start to understand these types of things but I also. I experienced some other types of Abuse within that sound like more. kind of big t traumatic. Experiences as a child because my caregivers a parents. Gave me off to other families or babysitters. That were not always the healthiest people to be around. but I do just want to say that. We can have abandonment wounds, and it not come from sunlight, big, traumatic experience and bat. Maybe you were a child with. Maybe, you were four years old and your parents had another child at that point. You can feel abandoned in those moments because all the sudden. You're not getting much attention. And I I think. I mean in my personal belief I think a lot of us are operating or a lot of us have a lot of these different types of wounds. And it doesn't have to come from his big traumatic experience I also think that night I recently wrote an instagram post about this that our definition of trauma traditionally was very very specific like sexual abuse, physical abuse whatever trauma. Is. In, my opinion, much more expensive than that, there are so many things that are traumatic like can look perfectly normal from the outside and people who have experienced like very dysfunctional homes and families that it looks perfect from the outside can almost be even harder to validate your trauma. Be An I'm speaking from experience. 'cause on the outside everything looks good and perfect, but on the inside emotional needs are met. There's a lot of anger or Maybe repression and people don't talk about things or Even, having even living in the twenty first century, and having two parents, working Dr. that involves a lot of abandonment of little kids, because they just don't have the attention from either parent. I talk about this. I don't know if I've talked about some of the podcast before, but I have two parents who were very successful. Wise and what that meant for me growing up is that I was late to be picked up from school every single day. And I have a thing. You know this about people being late. It's insanely triggering to me because it. It makes me feel like I'm eight years old again and the message that I took away from his. You're not that important to me. You're not that important your time slot that important year. Not that important because that's what it feels like when you're eight years old and your parents just aren't able to be there for you because they're doing X.. Y. and Z. and I think the message that I got to was I'm sorry, but I had this important business meeting. It's really important. We're doing this big job right now. Like sorry, but that's just how it has to be so my interpretation was not important, not important. And And so. Yeah I think just expanding what trauma is expanding what abandonment wounds are and also just that there? I watched a video recently and. This woman her whole therapy practice focuses on abandonment wounds, and she was saying like abandonment. Ones are cumulative, so they're not just one bit like. You said they're not just one big traumatic event. It's often little feelings of abandonment that that build up. Over time. And so we're all soul. We all know what it feels like. When someone rejected as early on or wasn't there for US or whatever? Specific instance there's probably a lot of them, but we all know that pain, and so we're all so fucking. Scared of. It were so afraid of it that often we're operating in dating from sphere of. Don't abandon me. Don't don't abandon me. Don't abandon me. So I think like the reframe is how can I stop abandoning me and putting all of my worth and validation on someone?.

"Just do X. Y. and Z. that I will gain their attention or their approval and I think with this person I was just involved with. I was feeling like. You know it's going to be. This is different. We have this connection which really. Is. The truth. The, truth is that it was familiar, and so I was confusing that type of familiar nece as chemistry or that there was something to this. And Yeah, just really triggered my abandonment wound. So that's the place I was operating from, and so it's this place of. Know believing that? I'm the person that's GONNA be the exception to the rule. Even though he's saying, he's not ready for a relationship for. Has a lot of his own things to work on. But I also was you know. Spending time with the here choosing to do that as well so I? Think that's where things became very mushy. Well I think also it's. It's a good note to make to people listening that I think. Sometimes. People get confused. Would this whole concept of us being attracted to familiarity? Because people think well if you were treated poorly when you were younger, you're not gonNA. Choose that again. You're not going to be attracted to something that feels dysfunctional or toxic, but the thing is. Humans are attracted to what's familiar, even if it's bad for us it, it just is comforting because it's all we know it's already knew and when you're five years old six years old ten years old. You actually don't know any better. You don't know that there's a different way you don't know that may be. Your parents are not treating you. You well or emotionally earn very mature. You don't know those things you know that that's home. You know that those are your parents that you love more than anything in the world. Do you know that that's what love is? Yeah? You're todd. The DOTS will love is exactly so I think because it reminds when you were saying that. It reminds me of this thing I've seen of guys. Kind of getting angry with wide girls always want the fuck boy. What girls always say? They want a nice guy, but they choose the fuck boy or Or like Nice guys finish last like that whole thing and I think what is totally not accounted for in that. Situation is that a lot of us did grow up with emotionally unavailable fathers. That is the truth, and that is what we were taught. I'm heterosexual or or dating men. That is what we were taught a male in our life. Our Life looks like love from a male looks like and that s that subconscious familiar draw is much stronger especially before you really start the healing process than anything, logical or rational lists of things that they did or anything like that. It's stronger than that. It's strong enough to make us do things that we know are bad for us. not to say that you can't heal it but I do think it's important to say that because sometimes people don't. Totally conceptually understand this whole idea of being drawn to familiar and that familiar slash quote, Unquote Chemistry is actually not always indicative of a healthy connection. Right. And I'm still working on that. It is still. Very very very hard to differentiate familiar. With you know at some healthy components to just. Fuck in familiar, which makes me want to rip your clothes off 'cause it so familiar. It's like a very in weird. Yeah thing and I and I think. A couple things I wanna add is in the fuck. Way Up so that we did not post. There was a moment that I. I'm pretty sure I was talking about this person. your your but I. I was putting down. Just things about his character or his. It's not even about his character, but some things that. He Values I. Really don't value basically, but I was going in that mode of like. You know, stop that fuck this and. And Fuck Him. Yeah, when the when the truth is that you know I actually in this situation felt really her. And Really not seen and. And Also didn't really have to do about. Like, it didn't really have to do about him. What happened to do it if you would if you could explain that? Well I think what was happening for me. Is that because it was coming from this? Abandonment wound from my caregivers that it really was. My inner child was feeling like. Like so sad and so hurt. I'm that I'm not loved by you or that. Don't don't see me for who I am. And I am living at home right now and. So. I am in much closer contact with both of my parents then I have been in a long time and and that in itself. You know I have a lot coming up with that and so. I think this person I was involved with was just really the perfect mirror of the I still have. A, lot of work to do with those original abandonment, wounds and I think. A beautiful lesson has come up for me and all this is that no matter how much healing work I do I will still get triggered. That Alston gotta triggered and there's no shame in that because you know after all this as you know Halina, I was also going to total place of shame and beating myself up and Oh my God. How could I? How could I go back to that place or thank that this person this pattern? Wasn't there? but the truth is I just was a little bit of a perfect storm and. Obviously, I was feeling. I was feeling like. I was trying to solve this Jr, but but again the what I, what? I need to do what I have been doing and. Which is why I think this kind of reframing of. Letting go of laming others and playing into all those narratives that come along with. The faulk boy and billon izing whatever. Is, I can now step away from it and take time for myself and give myself that love and tell my. Little child go back into my childhood and say to myself. No, you're okay and I love you and I see you and. That's really where. The healing work starts so our doesn't start. Trying to say but. That's where the focus needs to be. I. Guess what I'm trying to say. Yeah like basically figuring out what wound is being activated or triggered, and then finding ways to to meet that need. For yourself as opposed to trying to meet it with an unavailable partner, which is a a completely impossible situation, and it's an impossible situation with anyone I think people in our lives can help meet our needs and will meet some of them, but no one is going to be able to meet your emotional needs all the time, and that's where we have to learn to do it ourselves and it's not skill that we've been taught, but self soothing self love. kind of that dialogue with our inner child with dialogue with ourselves to figure out like what's coming up and then holding her own selves, talking to our own solves giving our own selves validation in love that our emotions are safe in real, and all of those things which by the way Alex and I really want to. Create some sort of community that we can do this work together as women and we'll..

How can I make you come? Yeah, instead of just like why don't like yes, but also. Again it's like it's really taking the time to enjoy the whole process because. Sexual experiences of my young adulthood and me being triggered a lot and not having the awareness back then they didn't know what triggers were now so then I was like Oh God. What's wrong with me? But I was triggered. I not. I want. One another human being is like. Taking out anger and violence I on you and it's like also Saxon. Pleasure mixed in with it so then it starts to become. Out It that's where I get confused myself where I'm like. Yeah, sometimes I like a little bit of aggression on like. Is that like solely because I've like? Experience Sex been painful and aggressive, but then I've also. Gotten pleasure in that somewhere in the line, so it just kind of like mixes all together, obviously a whole community that. That's another part of IT spending any unnecessary head space or time with people who don't make sense and don't speak to my soul same. Yeah so I we could talk about this. "M whatever the FUCK NAS and. I don't think that this is being thought about enough because I think our generation does not know how to handle vulnerability rejection real pain. Emotions don't have to. I know well another. We don't have to and I also I'm just thinking about this like without all this online bullshit. If we were just meeting people out and about asking people out going on dates it would be far less people than the amount of people that we come into contact with online. So even though we like fucking suck at dealing with rejection were also like being rejected a lot. More in these like very miniature ways mulling over and over and over again when that person doesn't message back or whatever even heaving you don't get a lot of lights on a picture know exactly people yet minimize how much they care about that but they fucking care right so I think that's also an added like mixture to this beautiful cocktail o of lack of vulnerability communication abilities. Yeah it really is. That's wild to think about. I agree wholeheartedly and I guess I guess like I get so worked up and I know I sound angry but I'm not aiming at us because I am a part of this generation you know and it's it's not our fault. "Not a match and there's someone better suited for you. I someone that wants to have a second date with you dude. Like and that is where it's like. I think you know we have a reality check for ourselves if we're chasing after these people that don't actually want to be with us or aren't interested in getting to know us further so that's like that's a red flag kind of well. It's just it's just in my opinion and I don't know I don't really even know this person personnel. But in my opinion first of all like have some respect for my decision but then also have some respect for him to sell. Why are you trying to get this girl? Who said she doesn't like you. Actually you're like trying to like I'm not saying you can't do a sales pitch on Miami love and Affection Word. I mean I just like I just call it because I can see it because I've been there like I have in so many scenarios whether I haven't I haven't been like formally rejected in that way and then been like no give me a second chance but like it's not that much different than me chasing after guys that aren't responding text messaging now or it's the same kind of thing and I absolutely like looking back at my younger Alex. Southlake didn't eat a lot of love and validation from myself at that time because I was absolutely seeking it in other people which is why chasing after an MD watering hole. I look up. And that was beautify inmates so yeah that that makes me think of this whole scenario makes me think of that but then also. I love the response of the Hon. No worries like what are your feelings joke to you. This is funny. I'm like come on Dude. You're on and that is where you're right like this. There's like an ego spots ego response. "On himself so much on and I did come to basically without any changing information really but I just started to feel like okay. I feel like I'm I'm almost like using this person for comfort or this relationship is existing but I never know like. I don't know if I'm going back to San Diego and you know this person. We do have a lot of differences. Were not compatible in a Lotta ways. Even if he is a really nice guy working out those things that he had to work out whatever and so anyways I I ended it but I just want to say for contractual reasons. There was a decent period of time. Where although no you weren't saying we're in exclusive. Were intimate relationship. It was very much acting. You guys were acting in that. Well yeah for a couple specially for like a couple of months and we weren't necessarily exclusive or talking like that but he was saying I'm not seeing anyone else and I was saying I'm not seeing any didn't know this. Oh Yeah and we were talking about. Hey can you take a trip out here? You were going to go visit. You know all the stuff. Yes and that was very much a thing and talking like you know even though we're not we're not technically you're not my boyfriend right now. I think I even said this like I very much like hold you to that value and hope that when I got back to San Diego that if we can time is still right and we're still getting to know each other in this way. Then maybe we could try like actually try dating my hopeful of our commentaries. Okay so this is what happened and I was like devastated in shocked about it but I don't know probably like a couple of weeks before I had I had said like. Hey you know I'm over here on the East Coast. You're over there on the west coast. I can't really keep doing this. It just doesn't feel right and I've so enjoyed having you in my life but like at this time I have to go my own way and do my own thing and like I wish all the best for you and he had like gotten this puppy like I don't know probably like a couple of weeks before he said that and had was like sending me pictures of the dog and was also saying like. Oh my God I can't wait till you can come here and meet the dog and the dog means dog. Mom and ha ha hobby. Be The dog mom right end so I don't know this weird fucking thing happened and this all happened like I think by February. I like February's when I cut the cord and he had texted me a couple times too. Which again it's just like I've asked for space. Rive asked or said like hey we're going separate ways so he continued to like crossing boundaries. Whatever I never responded which made me feel good because I always feel like I have his guilt like I have to. I don't know like I'm such a bad person for like breaking someone's heart or making them feel bad or ending something like grab my fault. She had so much guilt anytime she and there were multiple times that she had actually tried to end things. Previously Endlich cried with guilt. "I am. I am actually rent some parenting about that. It's really interesting because I see it in my house because we have my nephew with us. If he falls someone's he has no reaction until he starts crying crying. I'm not supposed to be okay. And they're just observing. They're just absorbing everything right while that is fascinating. Yeah and you learn I can also see you know from having him around. He's fourteen months old. You also can watch him observing our emotional reactions to situations that he's not even involved in so if someone gets mad he's watching and then he starts mimic or yeah it's crazy. I don't remember being at age and I'm sure yet either but that's how young it starts says on Sundays triggers. You actually you might not remember. I don't remember like the the very moment I was first triggered a. Yeah you know. Yeah so but it's just kind of the message is and what are the underlying message that you received growing up right. You'll be able to figure those out. I'm shedding Because it's also the place that we never felt good enough in. Yeah and I think it's why if you you know there are some Massachusetts on top. Good school systems. There is some pounds of Massachusetts That do really really incredibly well. They'll go to Ivy's yet. And they also are the towns that have the most the highest rate of Teen Suicide. So Damn yes so. That's that's not a coincidence. In my opinion why are they suicidal? These high-achieving right. You know critical perfect by the outside world. It's like isn't dentists isn't that like the highest occupation of suicides. I did Nala but maybe I believe so. You guys can fact. Check me on that but again it's like when you think of that that's like very high paid. Yeah you know yeah. I achieving you went to med school right. And so yeah the totally goes along with what you're saying. Yeah well I mean I always think about actually wrote about this grabbing good. It's exactly what you because you're still not good enough. Well that's the thing it's like I do. Think oftentimes in society. That high achievers are achieving out of their trauma of not feeling good enough not not across the board. So don't take this the wrong way but personally I can relate to that of it not actually coming from his authentic place of me wanting to do something great but it's coming from this place of me wanting everyone to think I'm really great right. I mean that's how to like the great system. Yeah right exactly. We're taught that it's all right end so I was thinking what I was going to say is I wrote my graduate school. What is it called statement of purpose about this particular case? Was this girl when I was a freshman in college She jumped off a building. She was also a freshman in college. He was my attorney was Madison. Hollerin' and she was gorgeous. She was at U. Penn. So she was abby league educated or or going to be she had you know a seemingly really happy decently well off family tons of friends active social life and she was like a star. Athlete And I remember. I went through a really bad depression my freshman year of college where I actually left school and came home for the semester. It was right at the same time that she killed herself. And our stories really paralleled. In that she went home. I found all I was so obsessed with this situation. Yeah because I looked at her. I was obsessed with her instagram. I looked at her and it was someone that I'd be jealous of rash. She's better than me. She's always friends. I can be such a lower. She throwing out out yet. She's at an Ivy League school. That's she's good. It's the yeah. Yeah and so what happened was I found this out reading about her case later. Christmas break came and she definitely expressed a few times to repair and says she was feeling a little weird. Her Dad was driving her back to U. Penn. He said I will turn this car around. You do not have to go back. You can transfer schools. It doesn't matter Madison like it's it. I don't care widow so that father but she said no I have to I have to and so she went back and at that same time. I cry to my mom and I said I can't do it. I can't go back. And she said Okay and I stayed. She went back and she killed herself. While yeah and I wrote about this Graduate Graduate School Statement of purpose because it always like it just kind of horrified me but just was such a wakeup call because this is someone who has everything but okay. She has everything by society standards. What is that so deeply unhappy right? What is a telling us how a lot of I think like Oughta celebrities or people out on fame who also ended up killing themselves or have these mental breakdowns. Or you know right exactly like lucky. Yeah.

I got an praised a lot for being super organized and super goal oriented and and I picked perfect perfect. Yeah and it is a lot to do with my looks to. That's how it used a manifesto you know in high school. I was obsessed. Anyone who knows me highschool knows I was obsessed with going to the gym and eating absolutely perfectly looking absolutely perfect and at the time and I think this may be as one way in which the mental health community fails us at the time. I thought oh I have an eating disorder. It's or when I became aware I thought okay. There's this pathology. I have an eating disorder. I can get therapy for my eating habits. And then I'll be recovered. Surprise that perfectionism goes in every other fucking area of my life too. So it's really it's really this. Inner child work. That has actually allowed me to start to make progress on accepting myself as worthy just as am whether that's one hundred billion pounds more than I weighed in high school whether that's getting fired from several jobs whether I don't know I'm just making up fake scenarios but the point is the more it goes along with what you said about our friend thing. The more we put value on other people achievements are things outside of US right. We're never gonNA feel whole exactly. Yeah and what's just a loophole background? I mean what's cool is that all the Self Love Self work is all very interconnected whether it's you know Doing exercises about your identity or your ego narratives or you know the What do you call them? We've talked about like meditation journaling. Different things to Help yourself heal and kind of go inside your soul. Deep within I think for me those are the big ones but then the other additional things and then you can add because I know you have some slightly different than me. Things that you've been doing but for me getting outside every day is big whether it's just I've been bringing a blanket and just laying in my front yard and looking up at the sky or going for a walk But but BUBBA bubba eating healthy going outside getting good sleep. Oh and for me the other one is Asmar in. That's kind of to me. Because you know I love Asam are I just listened to different lake? Am ARE GUIDED. Meditations or like positive affirmations or it will just be random. It'll just be the person just whispering about something but it just relaxes me. So those are mine. Wonder your additional once for people to take care of himself. Stern Quarantine Will you definitely mentioned some my favorites? Getting outside I think is huge being nature Sleep of nutrition movement movements like mine. Number one yeah Whether it's just listening to some music and dancing by myself or taking an online dance class. There are a lot of like you know whether it's like a fitness person or a dance instructor or there's really popular fitness dance. Classes like three zero five fitness. Everything is moving online right now. Which IS PRETTY COOL. And it's free so. I'm GonNa take advantage of that and Doing Yoga as one in reading books that I've wanted to read for a long time that I'm finally like okay. Got All the time from the world. "If I know for myself lately I've been trying to journal Before I go to bed at night and it's amazing kind of what comes out of that and I guess my point back to the identity thing is that For me it's made me kind of realize some things that I thought were really apart of might like my core self. I write five things that I'm grateful for And they can be really anything last night. I was grateful for Alex. I said my best friend slash social slash family. Who Sees me for who I am and vice versa? I get to choose life with her. And that's so beautiful cheesy you go. There's a look and I saw do five each day and then on affirmation section. I do them just whenever I need them. So as an example I have I am safe and you can reaffirm the affirmation as many times as you want. I choose love over fear I am worthy. My time is valuable known as above or below me. I am love an imperfection and joy and radiance. I am not afraid of failure. Failure does not exist. I am ready to face the days challenges. With a sense of calm I am imperfect but so is everyone else. I don't critique myself harshly because they love myself unconditionally. I am my own best friend. Those are my formations but it can be anything. It has to be authentic to you. And that's another part of of all these spiritual tools use them as you'd like but also make them your own because if it doesn't feel authentic to you then it's not going to resonate and you're not going to believe in it and you're not going to take away as much so definitely you know. Take what you will but leave anything. That doesn't feel right for you but I think gratitude journaling affirmations are another great way to deal with quarantine and Corona Virus. Because obviously we have a lot of things coming up in bad feelings or there's a lot of focus on the bad especially if you're watching the news a lot so take some time and realize what's good about every single day every single moment that you have right now yup. Yeah I love that. Thanks for sharing those a lot of like simple affirmations that I've been saying to myself right now again. It's like another form of meditation really especially a couple moments in. I don't know I haven't really asked you or talked with you about this. But you had moments of anxiety the krona virus that you're like afraid you're going to get in get really sick. Can maybe die. Is that something that's come up for you? Yes not as much of an anxiety as a realization that particularly if I don't take the right precautions and also get my blood sugar's really really regulated and really stay on top of my diabetes. But I have I. It has crossed my mind in more of a ocean Selena. Now's the time to take care of your body as well as your spiritual. Yeah exactly. Yeah but I've been saying to myself a lot like I'm okay or I am at peace with this moment. My biggest son and that peace with a small man. Because I don't we don't know what's going to happen. We don't we don't we can't tell what the future holds and And we can't control it and sometimes that's scary but I think shifting to you know at least saying to myself in my mind and getting my soul on this level of like I'm okay with whatever happens. I'm at peace in this moment and I trust what's meant to happen will happen has kind of pulling the out of the fear of By like that I feel like it's an interesting lesson. 'cause really like we never know what's going to happen. This just makes it more clear. I guess to everyone. How fleeting every single sting is how we can make as many plans as we want. But we never know what the future is going to hold ever. Yeah I know I mean at any given point anything could happen with or without this moment of the corona virus you know yeah. Sorry misleading one. Second of what you said because I had to switch my air pods to Wire headset because they can't making that noise. Beeping and I it confuses me because I feel like I charge them but whatever while I really just Kinda WanNA use the example that I was talking about last night in my like identity journaling so I'm just going to talk about it and So this is a really big identity narrative that I've had for a really really long time Has To do with friendship and I wrote about this because I am struggling in a particular friendship of I guess I feel like I have a lot of differences with a friend right now and we're kind of evolving in different ways or our values are really really different to the point that makes it kind of hard to even have conversations sometimes like just about life things in general Coming to me for advice about something but because we look at relationships. That's what they're coming to me about relationship advice with romantic partnership and I think because we think of romantic partnership so different. It was just really. I was really struggling with that and And Helena you know this about me this is like nothing new but I think a lesson. More recently In my life over the past six months year. Whatever has been this feeling that I I can't let go of certain people in my life whether it's a friend or even you know a romantic partner. Because if I do that I'm a bad person. It makes me the bad guy. Yeah and That's really what was coming for me a lot last night but it kind of went into a different space as journaling which is that It's even more like about if I don't have friends like what does that. Say About Myself Because for a long time a part of my identity whether I wanNA admit this or not has been like Yan. I'm Alex and I've always had a lot of friends of always had a lot of friends and really close friends and people come to me a lot in tell me they feel comfortable telling me their secrets or whatever. I mean forever and that's just something that has become a part of my identity even though I don't necessarily You know it's not like a good or bad thing but I think it has definitely affected the way in which I go about relationships today because I think that some of us aren't meant to continue on in life together And that being said I've had I've held this identity narrative to myself so much that it's kind of made me like it's like kept me stuck in this place with certain people that I just don't think we're like evolving together anymore And yes and it's because I've had this narrative of like well you know I have a lot of friends and my friends are like my sister's in bubble bubble blah. I mean and that's just something that I've seriously like when I was journaling. I've been telling this to myself since I was like. I don't even like five or six years old because I don't know if you know a parent or someone told it to me like how I got in my head but it was created because I am an only child and you know since I was born. I've had a best friend. Shout out to Marissa. Who's in Italy right now But safe I'm very grateful for that but you know I always said like because I had these friends that they're like my family friends are our moms were best friends and we were raised together. I've always known like and not only known but like really cared for Friend friends friendship. It's like part of my identity. The one of my biggest values global blah. But I think it's actually at this point kept me really Stuck in some ways because I have a much harder time letting go of people and I don't think all of us are meant to be friends forever but it's just like something so there it is whoa put that out there. I guess I was nervous to talk about it because obviously this is online in. Anyone could here in. I WANNA be sensitive but you're not persevere. Yeah you're not saying anything bad about anyone. I think that is so a really interesting and be. Oh my God. I'm just so proud of you. This is such a big thing for you. Thanks for me I also. It's funny because I mean you know this because we've talked about it now but when you and I I got really close that that Eagle Protection. Whatever it may be for you of finding your identity in having a lot of friends triggered something in me which maybe. I need to explore of not being like your chosen. Best friend like that was really hard for me because in my mind I was like well. I Have Alex and Alex has me. She's my best friend. We have this connection and it's unique and You know she's my number one but I'm not her number one and that triggered this like unsafe feeling in our friendship in the beginning in the early days and I remember that conversation that we had at your house. This is one of those. This is actually interesting because this isn't even baby Halina. This is Helena just a few years ago and Alex just a few years ago but where you said. Yeah you know. All these people consider me their best friend. But they're not actually my best friend and I was like. Oh my God on now own.

"Leggings. Emma sweatpants socks over same. So what are we talking about today? Elena well we thought it would be cool to talk about marriage babies and other things that were supposed to want to see my. I wrote that like as a title suggestion. I don't know if you looked at the Google doc but yes I love that but yeah I think this is so interesting because my views have like really fluctuated in the past year About marriage and I know that you've always felt some type away So I guess I'll start by asking you. Do you want to get married. I don't know so right here right now. I don't I don't know I don't have that answer. I think that I've been really hesitant about marriage for a long time because my parents divorced and I've seen a lot of my friends parents get divorced So I think kind of like early on like probably around high school I kind of I started shifting my own views because I I definitely think it's something I may be wanted or thought of when I was like younger I think it's the thing that we're taught to want and then as time has gone on. I've kind of felt like what is the point of getting married. If it's to end or you're going to have to go through the psych divorce that can be really messy and You know I don't know. Just get very complicated with money and and all that so. I think right. Now it's definitely not High priority and that what is more important to me is having a partner that I'm really happy with and that were growing along the same lines of And I think that I would have to be with that person for years until I committed to something like marriage. You 'cause I just like don't trust necessarily that. It's like the right move. That's kind of how I feel. I feel wishy washy about it. So how do you feel? And how have your opinions on marriage changed? While I think like lately I've just been as you know really rethinking and questioning my whole paradigm and this whole system that were existing in a marriage is one of those things that is a human construct that was originally you know for property and ownership and in a lot of ways ownership of women by men and to me. I guess I always was under the impression that or not even the impression I just believed thought I needed to follow this checklist of college career marriage babies and what I'm realizing now. Is that the whole goddamn thing is made up and like one of the okay so one of the belief systems that I find really interesting. Sort of entangled with marriage and divorce and how we see things right now and society. Is this concept that relationships only good if they last and my question is why why our relationship why relationships have to beef quote unquote forever in order to be good and valuable and meaningful and not a quote unquote failure. Because what I can say. Is that painful things in my life specifically breakup Or there's one break up. That was really painful for me was the catalyst for so much of my personal growth and if it hadn't ended. I don't think I would. I don't think I would have grown and matured and seeing the world and seen myself and my family and my patterns and dynamics etcetera etcetera in the way that I do now And so why? Why is a relationship ending in Weiser relationship forever and ever and ever? Why is that? The good thing is a relationship ending the bad thing. What do you think about that right? Well I feel like a couple of things come to mind. The first is I think we've gotten a lot of the idea of like. The relationship is good if it has a happy ending. I E it lasting forever from like Hollywood and movies And then I think another reason might be because in order to raise a family. It's like the good thing to do when the parents stay together for the child right but if the society that we lived in was just different if we celebrated breakup if we celebrated endings then like our entire world would look so different because I think it takes a lot of courage to leave a relationship and for a partnership you know to say to one another like hey. I don't think we're growing any more likely had been in the past and it's now time to go experience the world without one another function you know functioning in this type of partnership And I just think if we celebrated that more and it could be. I don't know just more of like a understanding in life that this is obviously something that happens a lot. I mean we know the divorce rate is. I don't know what it is right now. It's got to be. I would think like sixty percent So I think if you know are the world that we live in if it was just changed to be like a celebrated thing Then everything would look so different. But that's not what we've been told through like media and movies and yeah yeah so just a couple of my thoughts on that. Yeah well it's interesting too because I feel like the way that we look at love is so messed up because think about it and I actually what was I. I was watching some sort of romantic like TV. Show recently like a reality show or something and everyone I think this is not just strictly reality. Tv shows that. Do this people in general if you if you listen closely enough on talk about loving and other person when they talk about loving specifically a romantic partner. It's usually not. I love this soul for who they are separate of me. It's I love this person because you make me feel good. I'll you didn't. You didn't text me back today. You made me feel bad. You didn't I don't know or like you did tax me a bunch of times today. Oh now I feel good. It's not really about having the other soul for who they are and everything that they you know that they bring to the table. It's loving them as long as they please. You and so. I think exotic other thing about breakup we go ahead and Vilnai's the person that left us because they didn't want to be with US anymore but if you can transform love to hate so quickly you know. I loved him last week when we were together and then he broke my heart and now I hate him. That's not really love right. Well I think to like Kinda getting to the root of that of what you're saying it's like if we're always thinking about love As this like okay. Here's a person in front of me. And they're meeting all of these expectations as soon as they. Don't meet some sort of expectation. Then then it's like a failure somehow right like even before break-up happens so maybe like the first shift that needs to happen is really a shift in like how how we look at love and how we look at relationships in general. Because you know we're talking about on a bigger scale of marriage being this like it's like a check that we check off the list of things that we've completed but love and loving another person might like probably shouldn't be about checking off all these boxes of meeting our expectations whatever those are and instead it being like like you said just about really loving the soul. That's in front of you and the way in which I don't know I think I think love to me right now is Admiring someone for all that. They are in their true itself and as far as choosing partnership lake growing along the same lines of someone. I know I know I I agree with Donald also kind of the shift either making. It's funny because again as with US always I can't help but to think about our friendship and the fact that we continue and I don't know that it's the divine or what but we continue to grow together in the hardest of circumstances in the craziest harms the best times. We just continue to grow together. And when I think about the fact that I wanNA keep beat having you in my life and choosing you. It's because I know right now and going forward we were both committed to that growth and that growth is just really meshes. Well together you know. Yeah absolutely and it's not like when we met to and of course it's like I mean when it comes to like choosing friendships versus choosing romantic partnerships. Obviously there's a lot of difference there but I think sometimes people won't lost so now what's did I think there? I think the difference is that when people are choosing romantic partnerships. There's almost like more emphasis on. You know maybe just because we've been ingrained to think this way but again like okay. Is this purse like. Should I be with this person? Is this person. GonNa meet these specific needs where I feel like when it comes to friendships there. That pressure isn't as president. Even though I'm not saying it's not but I know that like our friendship You know I wasn't like Oh houses houses person GonNa look in my life. It was just like Oh my God. I mean since the moment I met you since I sat next to you in Class. I just I had this weird instinct intuition that I don't know who this person is but I just feel like I'm supposed to get to know them And so yeah I mean I don't know what do you think? Do you think friendship versus romantic partnership as far as like when people are considering whether or not they should have this person in their life where they want to get to know this person. There are differences. I think it's interesting because I probably would've said guests. There's huge differences three years ago or even last year even six months ago got it or not But now the place that I'm at in my life where genuinely I am trying to be as intentional with my time and energy and relationships as possible. I don't think that there is a difference in how I'm looking at those relationships friendships and relationships because it really is. How does this person fit into my life? How can I grow with them or are we not compatible and we can't together and I'm looking at my friendships the same way. I really am because I haven't had a relationship in a while but I've had some friendships that have kind of lasted for a really long time. That no longer serve me and I know that. And it's not any bad on these people I've had a lot of love for them and I hope the best for them. But as I'm growing and changing and becoming more conscious in aware I don't think that they fit into my life and I don't think it's any different than our relationship but that being said I think in society..
