"Was correct I think they should have been given a free if you're G. I.'s soldier will fill the same position this grace that's William B. Harris he's a retired Air Force guy with a disgrace charge the eyes is our man it's already on the right I still remember very vividly I'm ninety three years old the Harris occasionally forgets how to get home at the donuts is something you will always remember and I should say that hair is like everyone else I talked to the VFW hall never personally experienced this he was never charged for donuts he just heard that other people work so I wondered we happen is is just like one of those small rumors that ended up turning an entire nation's veterans against what is typically thought of as one of the most benevolent organizations out there I called the red cross and they directed me to Susan wants and the arquebus well we have we have and he says that before I even came to work for the red cross I heard about it and it's never quite going the way he acted it keeps coming up that they were charged for coffee and and that and went and told me it is true in nineteen forty two the red crested briefly tried for donuts that were previously free but she quickly adds they did this only because the US government asked them to here's the story the US soldiers went over to Europe to fight in the war and the British were already there fighting the Americans came with lots of resources they were well equipped to add these nice comfort stations that the red cross set up with free doughnuts and the allies were resentful you know the allies had stations where they can get food and coffee but they have to buy it and they've been they're fighting for a long time they're worn out they weren't getting free donuts so this is literally becoming an international issue the US secretary of war sat down and wrote the red cross a letter asking the organization to help ease this tension in charge for the donuts just a little bit just to even things out yes the secretary of war and we actually have documentation of that we have the letters that he sent out the letter I checked it is posted on the red cross website where you can also find an FAQ section that explains that the red cross was quote adamantly opposed to charging for donuts and protested vehemently but the red cross lost the fight when you receive this letter the website continues the organization has been living with the ramifications ever since why do you think it keeps coming up I think it's just it's one of those things because sometimes things take on a life of their own and and this is one of the stories it's just kind of done that three because it's been around for about one hundred and thirty years and over those one hundred thirty years they've made some mistakes is a Watson told me they've managed to fix most of the mistakes they've made except this one she says the donuts is the one persistent thorn that does not go away so Alex I keep wondering about this like why is this thing such a huge long lasting insult why can't people get over it and we actually got two solid theories to explain why from again and he Simonsson he's a business professor at the university of Pennsylvania and he said the first theory is something in economics called reference dependence he described it sort of like an optical illusion if you see gray I used to run it with white the gray will seem darker to you what's true with colors is also true with prices says Allinson if you're used to one price than any increase from that one price seems dramatic more dramatic than actually is after all two cents is not very much money to pay for a doughnut unless you're used to getting that done it for free which is about what the red cross said they think they charge for doing this back in nineteen forty two and you know it's the same phenomenon you see when people get really up in arms about gas prices you see the price posted there for four twenty five for a couple weeks you keep driving by four twenty five becomes your reference price so that when it changes to four fifty that seems outrageous to you or just talk to my brother about the airline baggage fees every single time.

"Doing the blinking thing three doesn't start moving around it's it's just it's it's frightening because it's out of nowhere you know you'd be sitting there lying perfectly still on the ground like he normally does and also needs rips up first look in the air and he starts going to the right hand side and and what he's trying to get something yeah read it to me this sounds like a form of a focal seizure there not so much like the grand mal seizure that you know epilepsy is so typically associated with kind of like that looking seizures receive out quite a bit it's some dogs we've had just like one muscle or one body part will twitch or have a repetitive motion so that would be my first thought you know some of the other things I do occasionally see dogs that do excessive licking and they might spin kind of associated with it GI disease so gastrointestinal disease the dead is a little bit different and I kind of do a bit more of a work up looking into the intestinal problem things like inflammatory bowel disease and so forth but usually those pets also have some G. I.'s sign so we have you know problems with vomiting diarrhea problems absorbing their food etcetera so I'm gonna say you seizures to number one on my list you I. diseases number two number three at the very bottom some of obsessive compulsive disorders the only reason I say that bottom of my list is because the looking by itself could certainly be obsessive compulsive but it's kind of the manner in which it occurs that I really like that from what you're describing it sounds more like a it's like a few good it's something that's coming over him and then it leaves so it's not something that's continuing persistent where he looks everything the changes tied up again well that's one possibility for talking G. I. cause problems now for me I'd say the number one thing I would talk to your vet about is trying E. anti seizure medicine trial because many of these type of problems will go away with a short time on some anti seizure medicine so there's lots of good ones out there phenobarbital as honest to my is a nice one as well that will be actually the test really is to see you know does this go away with the seizure.

"Bacteria immune response I G. G. I. G. M. this is how you build a strong immune system may be lowering yeah of course they are but that's that's from media telling them to I am telling them sheltering in place decreases your immune system and then I thought we all come out of shelter in place with a lower immune systems start trading viruses bacteria what do you think's going to happen disease is going to file and then you've got disease yeah like almost a hospital system with furlough doctors and nurses this is not the combination want to set up for a healthy society and guess who is the who is behind that whole plan found G. and barks and the Surgeon General so these doctors and by the when we come back incredible Sam by doing so you saying that you know more than doctor found yet to the media said there in California these two guys you're saying that you know more do you know more than full gym birch reproach we were here they said I absolutely love it it's coming up don't go anywhere it's Monday we're back baby and I I again I really think do she's considerate did I mention that that yeah that I mention that that I I think I kind of cut myself off I'm just so over hyped to give you information information I think do see is gonna open things up slowly on Friday you're now to probably Thursday he's gonna see all these other governors in all these other states doing it you know that gives him the shade that he needs we are not overwhelmed here in Arizona not by by a long shot I think that's what he's gonna do is gonna say based on everything we have the hospital room and you know we need to just start open it up and I hit it that's what he was waiting for he's not a leader he's a follower he could've been out in front but he chose to not be you chose to not be out in front so that that's what I did and by the way you know you're in Arizona they're actually counting the presumed covert deaths as Providence so it's even lower we'll continue don't go anywhere it is Tennessee the morning ritual with garret Lewis genetical canonical water so good for you so very good for you unlimited it beautiful pure water right in your kitchen tap why go fight some grandma the next time there's a pandemic seems like it's a pandemic every couple years doesn't it to me the flow you name why go fight some growth fight them over toilet paper don't fight them over water you're spending more time at home you're with your family it's hot it's gonna be like a you know upper nineties feel like a thousand from now until October you're gonna need to stay hydrated it's easier to do when water tastes good and you can get unlimited water right there and your tablet Connecticut and if you think about a traditional water softener maybe even have one the fact that you're spending so much more time at home unfortunately right means that you you are using more water and you using more electricity because those traditional water softeners use electricity they need electricity to work Connecticut does not run in the power of water so you're like your bills not going to go sky high when more people are drinking water using water showering I mean think I much cooking even doing running the dishwasher two times a day with Canada go you get the best beautiful soft water to drink it also keeps your appliances like the dishwasher washing machine water heater living longer because you don't have the hard water building up the gong all that stuff get their.

"Do. I think this is going to happen. No to a different company a different time. Let me put it this way. That idea is a Haymond idea. That's right a payments alley because that shows commitment to the gimmick remember when the Sandman got blinding left the patch for. Okay remember when Just recently when when Dustin Rhodes got injured the cast on his arm or Moxley with the patch on his eye but it was all the work that shows a commitment to the gimmick. That's my take on it. If I had the pencil I would at least suggest it but I would never make this suggestion to creative unless I talked to Mandy about it. I this is one of those ideas where you need to make sure that the talent is on board I. You can't just go behind talents back because then let's say let's say you're on the creative. Vince got this idea blah blah blah. My God I love it. She takes a makeup and then she shaves her head perfect letter no that that's the way we want her on Monday. Now you just spring this on her and now you put her in a position to say no now. You put her in a position to get heat show. That's the idea that I would have. That's the way I would go about it. Yeah if Panty was listening to this show and I know she falls us. I busted open radio I would take that idea and I would present it because that would definitely be a commitment to the Gimmick and the character or I will go ahead. You're about to say something I know it no I. I was just wondering do I. Don't listen neither one of US know Mandy rose on any kind of real level other than hello and goodbye. If you're mandy rose. Do you consider that. Gimmick you consider that idea. Where do you think that's just like a absolutely not no way? No I think I think that's something that's gotta be crossing your mind when the whole story on Friday was Sonja saying that they just they just like you. Because you're beautiful. You have zero talent. You have no talent. Well why not? The first thing that comes to your mind is like I'm going to show you right now. You could go the way of. I'm GonNa beat your ass in the ring and I'm going to show you how good I am. Yeah but why not make that commitment? Why not go G. I. Jane? Why Not Shave the head you know and say you know what I'm all in I am all in and I'm gonNA prove you wrong. I think she I think should be able to rock the look to actually I mean she is. "G. I. and J. are cool the with all the schools across state closing at least through April third is an organization that stepping up to help Betsy's oreo would save the children spoke with Carol these Chris Sommer about their mission that's right so we work in rural communities around the country providing high quality early childhood education services that began with home visiting and carried him through third grade are we have a real focus on ensuring kids are entering kindergarten ready to learn and that they are the third grade with the reading and math skills they need to succeed in school and life this is a scary situation for all of us including the adults what is the recommended way of talking to our smaller children about this how do we explain to them what's going on right now that's a great question and I think parents across the country are grappling with it right now we have on our website save the children dot org and in brief we ask parents to think about what their children need to know what it needs now of course children very based upon their age and you have to tailor your response appropriately start by getting the facts go to a reliable source of information like that Texas department of health which will have reliable facts for you to share with your children and then think about what your child needs to know answer their questions stay calm is our biggest project we can offer children take their cues from their parents and if the parents are upset the children naturally will follow suit we assure them that you're taking steps to keep them safe go back at the washing our hands were staying home or staying away from crowds all in an advocate to keep ourselves safe and healthy earlier this week I had an opportunity to visit with the superintendent of schools in Dallas and I know one of his big concerns is making sure his students keep their minds active during their son scheduled downtime Betsy why is that so important widescale learning what could be among the biggest and longest term impact that corona virus has on kids in America with school being closed for an indefinite period of time in Bantul district talking about not returning until the fall that will take a devastating impact on kids learning time and we're encouraging a school district to do what they can to keep that process moving forward summer taking advantage of online learning and and non instructional day package I which is really helpful but there are a lot of kids who don't have access to on the internet or online learning just isn't an option for them save the children have put together a whole packet of resources that parents can turn shoot your help make sure that children are learning throughout the day and to keep that process going you might not know this but children on average experience two to three months of learning locked over the summer as it is so with a potential for that being a very long period of time you can imagine how much that impact could grow that's messages oreo with save the children breaking news of the international wires a strong earthquake has shaken Croatia and its capital causing widespread damage in panic a fifteen year old was reported in critical condition the European seismological agency says the earthquake measured a five point three magnitude struck in a wide area north of the capital Zagreb at about six twenty three AM Sunday local time the prime minister said it was the largest earthquake in the capital and one hundred forty years it struck amid a partial corona virus related lockdown people told to avoid public areas such as parks and public squares as little had little choice as they ran out of their homes officials initially said the teen girl was killed but doctors later said she was in critical condition Airoli news time.

I.'s storming the beaches of Normandy on D. day none of the cinematic masterpieces of would be the same sound effects and design are just as important to the mood tone and emotion of a film as what you see with your eyes on the screen will maids Constans new documentary is a love letter to the immersive world of Hollywood sound editing it's called making waves she's also a long time Hollywood sound editors who worked on Armageddon Conair the rock among other films and she teaches at USC's film school and mich Kosten joins me on the street yeah welcome thank you so sound design it encompasses a lot yes from the dialogue to the music to the sound effects to the bullying and all that stuff yes so on the set the only thing they're really getting is the performance so is the voice the sound design is everything I mean think about ambiances really set the mood and the tone I always think about it as kind of the music to every scene but it's subtle ambience being just the sound of life you have one of our horns and would not have noticed sound of like a room or even a room tone lack of room tones can sound different and it would be like if it's raining or if it's windy or what is the house sound like what's going on outside traffic you know so it's kind of the backdrop of blue in the south sound wise and all of that is done in post all of it in post yeah and we don't even think about it adult hours now here just in the moment any experience we don't think about all of the work that goes on to create that exactly exactly if you have a death it's a good thing because we get to do all this stuff but we don't pull you out of the movie the whole point is it's not sound for sound's sake we're always working with the director and what is the director want what's the intention for the scene and you don't want to pull anyone out of the movie and think of sound but then that leaves us like nobody thinks about us is doing things in the background well it used to be that the studios would have stock sounds Friday yeah I would say okay well pull up the horse's hooves memang and they would just have that yes and and there's a sequence in the film that's really funny it's like the same kind shot it's like Warner brothers would have their sound and paramount would have their sound as each one can can sound yes but it would be just flat out for every movie you know every different movie and even when I started cutting a fax in the eighties there were still like optical sounds in libraries and what will happen is when the sound first came in the studio sent thank these big trucks because that's what it took to record all over the world like you know you see them going to Africa and it records things like the jungle and the Canadian do anything for decades and everyone just use the same thing the fax your film profiles a handful of pioneers in sound design beginning with F. Murray Spivak who did King Kong and he created the sounds of King Kong I went to where the ceiling zero at that time.

"A. G. G. I. T. A. axed so we get questions every week and I know we talk about for one case and I raise the difference but have a question here that came in I want to go over this with you so follow along because it's going to answer a lot of your questions and we had a client that retired on to January second twenty nineteen and he was over seventeen the half and he was not required to take is already in twenty eighteen promise for a one case and she was still working remember the still working rule but he did take his twenty eighteen or on the from his Iranian this is again if you have an irate you have to take it if you have a four one K. you don't so he wrote that four oh one K. into sorry this year which was allowed in his plan since he retired and is the other thing make sure the plan documents allow you to do what we're talking about so we're trying to determine what is all Yuri are in the amount should be for this year so the question is should we calculate based on twelve thirty one eighteen which basically Chris that's when the do it office for one K. or the amount that was rolled over into his irate this year so we're thinking it would be the twelve thirty one eighteen value but we wanted to verify so his question was help so what's the answer Chris well when it comes to this court these plants qualified plans so important a you mean with red visor so aren't these from qualified plans like foreman Kazin IRA's cannot be aggregated that means that you would calculate the arm the from the irate using the twelve thirty one eighteen account balance which would not include the four one K. roll over and now the phone okay arm the will be determined using the plan account balance as of the same date so you got additional problem here the former okay arm D. should not have been rolled over into the IRA instead should have been distribute distributed before the rollover so that means you have an excess contribution in addition to distributing the form okay arm de that was rolled over her so anyone confused here well think about that yeah a lot of people are because what one of the keys that you mention you have to take the or D. before you roll that amount over right and how many people don't know that any can we make a phone call they tell us on the phone and the people go like I didn't know that right so when you come in here with us we understand these accounts when you come in we have to handle these accounts with care proper caring because if they're not if you slip in hill the wrong way it's a big tax tax time bomb waiting to happen in you can get the ten ninety nine during tax season as I say Hey you took a distribution and you know what it's all taxable so where's the taxes that you have to pay on it it's going to come from your account will also they have to calculate the earnings on that amount and distribute those funds prior to October fifteenth of twenty twenty to avoid the six percent penalty Chriss penalties on everything this penalties on early the distribution is penalties if you don't take enough another's police so if you put too much in the account time out from it you can avoid these penalties if you do proper planning you work with the right adviser you know it's interesting we work with advisers all across the country in order CPA's a lot of CPA's and think about is that when we start talking to them even attorneys it's unbelievable we talk about the legacy planning they don't have the answers were shocked because we say menu but in this business for so many years and you don't know the answer to these things right and we're shocked because they're giving information to people that's not clear so think about your advisor right now do you second guess them do you have an idea of what you're talking about we talk about tax planning maybe they understand investments but there understand the rest of the story that's why it's so important me with the complete adviser so much and look at your taxes so much to look at your investments so much to look at your income plan what about your legacy plan all this is together they all work together that's why it's very very important if you're serious about your money to meet with the right adviser of me with a fiduciary some of the best thing for you pick up the phone schedule time to meet with us eight three three Maggie tax another question we have we have time to cover this when this when we get all the time but do you have any suggestions on how to reduce the tax burden on traditional IRA which role so this gentleman was sixty six reaching the age when our Indies kick in which is really not true it's actually seven and a half so he was mistaken on that and he was wanting if there is any advantage to taking the trolls earlier to lower arm these and avoid higher tax brackets edge of that one great question we understand qualified accounts like I mentioned these are tax time bombs do you want to diffuse a tax time bomb the answer is yes if you're serious about it we can show you how to do that to answer this gentleman's question taken with Charles early is certainly an option you could do this if you're meeting with the right adviser because you are in what we call a sweet spot this is where you can do a strategic role out during this time you aren't subject to the requirements of distributions so you don't have to take money out but you are able to see not force to take distribution and you also aren't subject to the early distribution penalty of ten percent so you have flexibility you're in the sweet spot so if you decide to take a distribution this is the optimal time to begin planning for retirement or switching money from qualified accounts that are infected with taxes to accounts that are tax free my question to you is do you want tax free money if you do we can show you how to create a tax deduction to get money out of a qualified account on the most tax efficient way real quick this one other option because we get this all the time would it be it would be able to convert all or portion of your ritual Roth irate let me just put a warning out their Christian will talk about this we have seen people that have been told take your offering cash it in and pay the tax folks you don't have to do that that's not proper planning there's a strategic way to do it to reduce the tax and pays least attacks as possible that's what we say pay less tax with Maggie tax because in this particular case you don't have to take the arm dis and you know what we can help reduce that because it's called strategic planning strategic planning and that's what we do with Maggie tax so pick up the phone give us.
