"Included from receiving future updates one old one and a whole new setup if you update that old when could brick your your regular setup shun bonner had a massive twitter rant about this that I saw your side. I'm on inside man. That's Bullshit Eh Bullshit. But they're doing it so they're saying that they're going to try to work on a way to segment older hardware and avoid the situation. But there's not a lot of shareholder value with doing that. So we'll see what happens. It's a fucking speaker. What the hell do they need to keep up to date? I don't get it and it's a smart Speaker Jason. If you if you just had a speaker there would never be an update. It's just a speaker. Yeah God I gotTa Tell You. Yeah I mean I use this. This is mine is basically on a loop playing of Pandora. All Day I've got a Pandora station that we play in the House that is has been running for four years at this point and I'm sure Jeff Stott the The musician loves US BECAUSE HE GETS so much money from us because it is on all all day long and half of the songs there is but Yeah in Heaven Jason. He's getting paid through heaven. He's getting pennies from heaven. That's right or pennies from Woodland Hills. Again yeah I would be super pissed if I had if I had this happen but I guess I guess the thing is though. I probably don't need updates on it but I would be really really upset if I had one old speaker that I really liked. Because I think Shawn's complaint was the play five some of the features on it are going to get turned off which is being able to plug in your phone and play play through that right and that seems like I don't know a feature or what are the reasons you buy something nothing like that and I'm thinking man. I wish I had one of those because the play ones don't do that you have to do it all over the APP and I'm like Oh it'd be great to be able to plug in a phone for like when people come over and you have a party but now So yeah I'm on everybody's side here that's going against Jonas on this for sure. They need to they need to figure this out and make it right the agreed but the probably will talk so.

"Man. Somebody's going to say sure politics guys in the book. ooh Oh my God on the side we have a show again leave some. We've some threat out of this hair. Well on that note. Gentlemen I shall take my leave and I will see you guys next time as the naked furriest the trump skins ups and do so Brian in the quest to find video games to play at night. Because I still Emma. I'm a fifteen year old boy at heart. Yes my friend Jordan Harbinger and I. We tried borderlands three miserable game when we were done after like an hour our to our session we both had headaches and we had zero fun. We're like we're no no. We're not GONNA play this game anymore. That sounds like me playing any game. Yeah but for us. It's all about the fun if you're not having fun then there's no point in doing it even if you paid for it so we dumped it and move to gears five which a lot of people and friends friends of the show and fans of the show have recommended and we fucking love it. It is awesome. We can play for three hours and it feels like five minutes great which is a sign of a good game so thanks to everybody who recommended gears five we love it and I think a little over a third of the way through already so good stuff. Excellent I actually assigned we both signed up for the The unlimited gamer package on xbox. So you get like one hundred games. It's a subscription. Yes it is a subscription but do the math on it. I paid sixty dollars for borderlands three. It costs in customer. Like one hundred dollars for the all. You can eat games so if you're if you're played a lot of games man nothing really does come in handy is a lot of games on there. I know Brian. You are borne out of your mind now have taken a walk and probably on a bike ride but still fun I Google photos update our. I've been I've been uploading for what was it like two three weeks now. At least two weeks probably three probably three. I am almost at a terabyte of photos on Google photos. All right. The search is incredible. I have to say like if I type in my brother's name there are. There are photos that show up. That have like half of his face in a reflection and a picture on the wall. It's still shows up almost useful. You don't want well well. No I mean actually. It's pretty good because then I know he was there. It actually comes in handy. I mean then you can create a gallery from a search term and then call the galleries you need to write. But here's here's here's the thing that's pissing me off now. I'm at almost a terabyte of uploaded data so that the packages that you can do with Google drive as you can get one terabyte a month or are a one terabyte for ninety nine a month. Two terabytes nineteen ninety nine a month. The next upgrade that you can go from two terabytes is ten terabytes terabytes which is one hundred dollars a month somewhere in the league to be a middle ground. I get five well you you should be able ah by by terabyte of course exactly but yeah. That's not on the pricing plan. And I haven't seen what the over his are for. If you go over two terabytes but I think I'm going to be safe at the two terabyte range but I'm telling you know data caps for uploading again that's right that's what I'm doing. That is exactly exactly what I'm doing. Spectrum Internet in La all yeah. You're you're my fan. I'm a fan of cooking. And I'm we're actually recording this. Show right now using Vivaldi Vivaldi. I have switched over. There are almost no problems with this browser except for one and that is every now and again on one password. It won't auto fill. That's annoying a but you can you can just copy and paste it in and then you can save the credentials in the browser. which are you you know encrypted and tied to your name you can actually set your own encryption password in here which is nice so it can be separate from your log in to Vivaldi net? which is what you used to sink your browsers multiple computers so so? That's nice as well so if somebody does get your log in credentials. They can't actually go back and find all your passwords both good. Yeah it's a good thing It's fast it's really lightweight on the on the memory I don't it doesn't spin up like brave so so far. I'm I'M GONNA keep keep going with it but I've transferred this to all my computers now in even on the air works great so fingers crossed all right. I'm going to give you another week. Week Libby Dam after another week of the switch. Yeah I will I'll let you know because Yeah the opera thing has me really scared now. With the fact that they're doing predatory lending keep the lights on. That's not good. That doesn't have a scare that just means. I can't support this Kobe. Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah it's it's not a good company to support and and you know just the fact that everybody bags for your mouth is from China. Hey these new year support represent but you do have to remember that. Vivaldi was made by the original team that made opera. So that's that gives is it some good Some good bread but yeah so far so good and it's better than chrome which is just about every other browser out there right there. Well what are the reasons. I don't want to switch this this weekend. thinking about switching next week I can only hand one tech debacle a week and okay after I forgot to put this in the show notes. But I'll just talk about it really quickly after the last week when Dr David Peter decided he needed some support some inspiration for his Workout some exercise and all that and he Requested me on the activity APP for my watch. So we could you know. See what each other doing all that and the you decided okay. Well I'll get aboard to. You sent me a request that ever ever appeared and then I tried to set you request that it never ever appeared. He and then David Dr. Peter Stuff was not updating in my APP. He was just showing Zeros and I know he was doing more than in two zero check. Did you do a welfare check to make sure he's not dead I did I did I was like you haven't been laying in bed for the last three days. Have you know okay all right so something is wrong with my watch. I fondly remember the day when Mac stuff just worked properly it never broke but those days are long gone there. I think I think we make that up in our head Ed. I don't think there was ever a time when Max just always worked especially when you go back just an eight system nine and things like that you had to reboot that thing five times a day and your trash all the time and there was a small window when OAS ten did kind of work is like ten five and six. I can't remember where but yeah the I we give too much credit to apple for things just quote unquote working because it never worked that way of the cult of Mac doc though the the general belief that back stuff just works and stuff doesn't so I went on a daily log. Odyssey yesterday to try to get my watch to work and I have to use of your time just yes total waste of my time except for the fact that I get to talk about it here. You Know I. I googled all the stuff and I followed all the basic steps site out of your cloud signed back yet. What a pain in the butt? That was A Chicken Yep Yeah Killa chicken wave it over your head eventually. What I had to do was unparalleled repair by watch? Oh man that broke down three times while trying to do it and it took three hours. So did you remember to turn Enough Bluetooth. The the the trick I did I did that. Sped things up a little bit but it was definitely. There are a bunch of hitches. There were a bunch of mistakes and having to restart the whole process a couple times jobs at the end of the day after it finally repaired and everything and I had to re download the steps up did copy over that as part of the back of that. I don't know why no idea idea why but I had to do all that and eventually everything got back to durable. You guys are both now by the activity thing. I next two zero steps yesterday because because you're watching all yesterday while I was because it was constantly updated but today I'm GonNa kick your asses. That's what it comes down to. You probably probably are. I did She's ten miles the other day because I was just talking to my brother on the phone which I'll talk about in in school. I've already talked about insecurity since we're an APP to do dads but Yeah yesterday after walking ten miles I didn't feel like getting out of bed. Oh man so you probably GonNa kick my ass today. Because I'm on the air all day long. He'll jump up and down lot. Yoke Yoga turn on each of yoga feature seven hour a yoga session and just kick everybody's ass that is true So the other day I had to return something to Amazon and one of the depending on you know where you ordered from or who it's robber or what it is you know. Sometimes you can just drop it off at Fedex. Sometimes you can't If you want it to be free sometimes you have to take it to one of they drop off. Locations and Amazon has bookstore. I put that quotes relatively nearby to me and that's one of the places I could go drop something off for free. I call it. A bookstore store in quotes because only half the store is books. The rest of the half is of course they're electronics and all their crap and As I was returning to buy looked over and I saw that there was a whole series of shows goes out again and they look great. I have the five. I think they're on the seven hour or something like that and I'm like wow bad shareholder value you guys just roll these these leagues out all the time Had A lot of companies are doing this Most of the time. It's no big deal but you are a Sonos Fan and you've had Sotos for quite right sometime. I have play ones in my house. Yes Yeah Yep. They're they're basically saying all. The old devices are now obsolete some of the old not Paul Thumb. Yes yeah well so we've had under Arbor pulling the smart plug on some of its fitness devices. That used to sell the other day Soto said else's decision to put the legacy AC- tag on a slew of older devices. So anything like a play five you have a plane. Would a bridge or zone player like around the company is telling you that it won't get anymore updates ever ever could hold back..

"The next year you know ninety nine ninety nine for ten terabytes but I only want to point five. I know you're GONNA pay ninety nine dollars a month. So yeah they don't everywhere. Yeah that but those apple prices are more reasonable than night. I was imagining them in my mind. For some reason I guess it's been a long time since I looked into it. But when you're dropping a thousand dollars for a phone who also why not have that first tier the whatever. It is two ninety nine a month instead of being fifty gigs. Make it sixty four GIG make it align with your selling right right yeah boy nuts. It's really obnoxious. It's really auctions but Yes I'm paying two thousand nine now for the two hundred gig plan for just the photos that I have for cloud but the nice thing thing is now I can probably kill that because Google photos just up like backups automatically from my phone as soon as I take a picture just uploads it to Google photos which I'm already paying for so I might even killed two ninety nine right. I do the same with Google photos. which is probably the most irreplaceable thing on my phone? That are the thing I I've I want to save. You've got to be careful about the which precious to me. Yeah Yeah and I have to say Dave that you were so spot on with the search over time. It's it's UNCANNY. I put I was telling my brother about this and I made him a gallery of just him because I tagged him at Age Twenty Eh and it has him going back to like kindergarten automatically. Did it so. I sent him to send him the galleries like Holy Shit. That's creepy really creepy. I I'm taking the stance that is really technology. I liked it. Yeah Yeah Pretty soon. It'll be bringing up Pictures of your ultrasound. Yeah Yeah I do have a picture of him as a baby in the delivery room when he was born me holding him tag that one man but he just came out and he's still looked like lizard from I go to the grave. This the newtown line so I got another article in here here from Fast Company. It's a long read but it's really interesting. It's called inside the ten million dollars cyber lab trying to break apple's iphone going along with the the iphone theme and it is interesting staying. Did they do talk about you know that. IOS eight was really when things went sideways for law enforcement and they used to just put detectives on a plane with the phone. They'd send them to a couple of Tino they'd come back with the phone. Thumb drive in life was good nine so much anymore says that when the secure enclave Kim long ago. Yeah yeah that's when everything was encrypted Ryan so that's really I think it was twenty fourteen two thousand fourteen two thousand fifteen when when it all went sideways for law enforcement So they built this massive room that signals can't get into like there's no r f going in or out because they don't want somebody trying to wipe their phone remotely so they have to protect the phones from any kind of signal coming in. It's pretty interesting You know and I'm just like yeah well burden of proof is on you so you gotta got to figure it out and it's just it. It is an interesting story and see the other side of the coin you know. So it's it's well worth. The Rita is definitely it's even labeled in the article long in read got. Yeah long reads. Yeah yeah excellent okay. Well I found this story and I just thought it was funny and On topic in a number of ways given we talk about in the in the section but You guys remember verbis maybe got a bit of a thing for you. Were crowned lineup. We came out. Yeah I was. I had my video company and and we had several Furby is all over the office talking to each other all frigging day long. Yeah so they release little looking things that were very popular around Nineteen Ninety Ninety nine two thousand they were called Furby and they talked and the commercials advertised them as learning English over time. So the people in charge at the NSA. Once I believe that they contained an internal recording device and they feared the toys would spill secrets into their cutesy voices so according to a nineteen ninety nine BBC news article anyone who came mm across a furby on. NSA premises was instructed to contact their staff Security Office for guidance they were banned as a threat to national security. Think kiss somebody might have opened them up and taking a look before banning them. Because that actually wasn't the case the IRVY's came preprogrammed with words in English and Furbish furbish and couldn't actually record or playback anything as Tiger Electric's president Roger Shiffman ended up. Issuing a statement assuring the intelligence agency that Furby is not a spy spy a little much ado about nothing there but very funny and interesting that You know going on for quite some time. People have been worried about. The recording devices uses. Yeah they do have microphones so they could respond. They can sense sound yes They can't record anything. Have you ever seen any of the videos on on Youtube of naked. Verbis where they've taken the for off of them and there's just you just see the mechanics of them disturbing absolutely not. Why am I not surprised? You love love you right. Exactly I was. I was doing a search for naked. I something in naked furvhes came up in the off off. We went But back when Furby hot there was some articles about how actually cleverly redesigned they are very funny. I just did a Google search for naked verbis and it said did you mean naked curry's uh-huh uh-huh yeah but the the one of the really cool things about Verbis verbis is there's a single motor in there and there's this complicated series of gears and cogs that enable the Furby to do all the different things that it can do and to have it moves is and its ears and its mouth separately. It's it's a very clever bit of engineering especially for back when it came out row so and to be able to manufacture it so cheaply very who they were fund box somewhere. Yeah well you know. There's newer ruins now to they have There is our little. LCD screen so they can look around more. They can move their is around intently. Oh Man Yeah. Yeah don't tell Glenn Greenwald which is just start started dropping them in In the parking lot over at NSA to the people's cars going to have to leave that one to you. You're the closest practically see the place from here. Yeah fly over or with a drone and start dropping furby on the NSA campus. That won't attract attention. Oh man I wonder if you can wrap it in like Donald Donald Trump skin donald trump skin. It sounds like cases worse the.

"Tell my supervisor or my. HR people adviser. If I believed believed the work is negatively affecting my mental health. Well it will. I'll tell you right now will especially for what you're getting paid you're right. It's not worth the money to be a Barista. If if you need the money that bad just go slings. Swing some beans Lincoln Java because it's not a good job. It's a good job and I don't know about you when I worked in the porn industry for quite some time and every job that I ever had had a clause in it that says I may see disturbing you know material as part of my daily duty I for years I mean I started working in the porn industry ninety nine Fred and I did see much disturbing material. Ah By choice. No not the company I worked for. We had fat girls dot com transsexuals dot com and a slew of other really random fetish sites. And Yeah if it's not your cup of tea then it's definitely not your cup of tea and but it's a job so I took it and it paid right. Well I can afford. I could afford my shrink after that right. Well I've got a story that continues with the theme of It's one thing to kind of assume I'm this is going on and another thing to have just printed in black and white for you also the ongoing theme of our show which is Statistics are complete and utter bullshit. Yep So netflix has changed how it counts. Viewing popularity to pump up its shows SPEIDEL earnings results for two thousand nineteen out and obviously they're facing more competition than ever so so there stats aren't quite where they want them to be. So what do you do you change the way you do. Stacks to make them look better. And that's exactly what they did. So they're explaining their new method for measuring statistics. The new phrasing. It's using called choosing to watch. And as such seventy six million households. Click play the witcher stream for more than a couple of minutes in the first four weeks since it was released. These yes with the results. Have to be graded on curves. Because that is what's going on. They used to basically have I think they. They believe that reporting households viewing doing of title based on seventy percent of a single episode of a series of entire film. which is what they have been doing? Doesn't make sense for them anymore as their numbers are down so what they're doing now. Oh is at least two minutes of show log enough to indicate the choice was intentional. They say not say you went to the bathroom or you want to go heat up a pizza. Yeah it came back and something started rolling so yep that's it we didn't have good numbers we've changed the way we now are numbers. Look better you know what I watched about. Two and a half minutes of the witcher which is probably why they welby. Minute chose to watch the show. According to Net flicks likes I know and I chose to stop watching the show and I chose to give it a thumbs down. It's not my not my. I'm just over that kind of genre so funny any though that That was the show that they used to benchmark. I'm sure they'd spent a fortune on that show. Oh yeah they definitely did it. Looks is pretty good a lot of people. I know really like it. So at some point I'll give it a shot but I'm just kind of you know from our intro segment. I'm buried in media right now. Buried in media. Yes so let's talk a little bit about Uber. I just loved loved this article and they will spoil it all by putting it in the title but the title is just so good. Okay but have you just tried making them employees. So Uber's doing everything in its power here to fight the implication of California's forties new independent contractor law. Ab Five which basically said. Hey you gotta make them employs. You can't just consider them contractors because they're working fulltime for you Uber has made it a high priority to start adding these features to its APP which is only for users and California because they want to specifically undermined the case that the company is anyway controlling the course of France prince drivers so they're throwing a lot of money and a lot of program Bri programmers at their platform to modify it specifically for California so they can get around this lawsuit. So what's its latest piece of misdirection. They're doing as the wall. Street Journal reported today. A small subset of drivers performing a small subset of rides in three small cities in California we'll get optus bidding system system for fairs which what zooms is meant to show that the drivers are able to set their own prices. which is an important element of contract work so they are setting the base price as well as the minimum and backstrom fair? They will decide who gets more rides. Based on how little they're willing to work for and they apply the system to only trips originating airports and Santa Barbara Palm Springs or Sacramento which is most most approve to the courts. That over is totally totally cool with this whole thing and look there contractors. Oh my God so yes this is part of you know. It's basically just going to be in that this lawsuit goes on forever and ever It's something Uber can point to and say this is why your wages look like they do because of Ab I five. You'd be fine if we didn't have the stupid thing. Let's go back to the way it was before Yeah it's just a long con to get GIG workers to fight against their own best interests. Yes it really really it. It really is and at the end of the day. According to one estimate if Uber were to treat its drivers as employees it would cost them in the ballpark of five hundred million dollars annually. So with with all the work. That Uber is piling on to its developers to get out of this jam not to mention. Let's be honest about the expensive part their lawyers and the lobbying wouldn't it just be cheaper cheaper and easier to make them employee's Well I mean this is just California they write that five hundred million. I assume so. Yes yeah yeah. So that's the that's what they're trying to avoid once they once it happens in one place that everybody else is GonNa say what we want to be employees to and then then the shit really hits the fan. It's just forestalling the inevitable. The Shit will hit the fan with Uber because they are not a profitable company. No they're not they're not and I don't know if you've noticed this 'cause I when I go to lax. I can take an uber there. No problem right get one easy. Dropped me off. Have a nice day getting from the airport completely different story not getting me started. I went through the shit show that is the lax renovation to make things easier. You think it's hard as as single male Jason. I had my family with my three year. Old The the fucking buses that they get you onto bus you over to the area where the taxis and all the ride sharing things are. There's no seatbelts. There's no safety. There's no nothing people it's like it's like God damn Lord of the flies getting on buses. Because they're small. There's nobody waits it allied everybody's just jams in throws their luggage around. There's no luggage racks. How do you get a a bus to take somebody from the airport to win again?.

"Grumpy old geeks a weekly talk show hosted by Brian. Chu Meister and Jason Phillip Discussing the finer points of what went wrong on the Internet. And and WHO's to blame. Welcome to grumpy old GEEKS. I'm just Filipo Brian Renshaw Meister Gung Haggis Fat Choy. Jason Happy Chinese New Year because tight that to Yes I'm looking at the notes here and it seems like our follow up. Section is all just media candy for. Yeah well you know. There's a lot of stuff that we watched the last couple of days. A lot of things that came out so a lot of news about stuff that we like. Yeah let's get to it. What what are you got? I all right first avenue five the new. Hbo Show Starring House in Space Housing Space. Yeah a lot of hair Erin space. If he doesn't have you know so. We got Hugh Laurie in this. We Got Josh Gad. We've got Zach Woods from Silicon Valley and and I actually Kind right of no Suzy Nakamura so I wanted to really like the show. You didn't like it. What did you think I don't Sir to tell from one episode? I thought a lot of the jokes fell flat They certainly swan for the fences. I think maybe they got a base hit at best best. How drunk were you when you watched it not see? That's the problem. Oh well I think it's a bad sign. If you have to be drug to watch something comedy I don't know I was tanked and I watched it and I loved it. I thought it was funny. I would I'm not done with it. I'm going to keep watching to see what happens and I think this is is definitely I guess. Get to this. Well no get to this now Because a lot of the things that we're about to talk about in our intro slash media candy segments These are shows that are not op. Dropped in batches. We gotta wait and I like that okay so Yeah and you know comedy is. It's different for everybody. Everybody because I watched the Joe special that you recommended last week and I made it ten minutes in. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in. Turn it off. Give it a thumbs down so headsets. That's how that's how comedy works. I I like the show I mean yes. Some of the jokes did fall flat so it was a little over the top but you know for for pilot basically is what that is. I thought it was decent. It was okay it was okay. Yeah so I'll keep watching it if a bow out. I'll let you know this is a new series and it doesn't have Brian's rule of threes so I know I know but you know have getting older bending by rules a bit more and also you know it's it's only eight twenty five minutes. It is short which is nice. Yeah it's super short so it's it's worth it for that anyway. I finished lost in space season. Two would absolutely loved it like a lot more than the first season. Even I'm with you on that. I liked it a lot more in the first season. It's a it's a getting better as it goes along which is shocking. Yeah Yeah No oh I thought it I thought it all came together at the end and I thought I had one more episode and I was just like this. Feels like a finale dammit. I didn't get in finale mode. You know how like when you're watching the last episode so you have to like get in the mode that this is going to be the last one of the season and you want to pay attention to everything. Yes yeah didn't do that but like I know that's part the problem with With you know getting the full dump and being able to bend you slide into that last episode not ready. I know it should tell you. Want to go to to go like give give you some kind of countdown for listing of all the episodes. No but when you're binging you can't go but you don't want to go back and look at the episodes and count. Who wants to count so you know one thing that I wish they didn't do? I wish they didn't put the Synopsis Right Up there with a list of episodes because I feel like I've always getting spoilers when I'm looking to see how many episodes I have left hate. Kick that Shit hate it in my roommate loves to read them. So I'm like why would you read something that's going to tell you what's going to happen in the show. Why not just watched the fucking show? He's he's let's just watch the show anyway. Well we also got news that another series that I broke. My rule of three four is coming back for their second season altered. Carbon is returning Netflix on February twenty seventh very excited about that There will be a new lead but that doesn't matter because you know everybody is just a sleeve cover very clever device is to get rid of troublesome cast members. I know I wouldn't when I saw this. Yes I read it and I'm like no because I really liked joke. in-in think he's a great actor here and I loved him into killing. That's the first thing I ever saw in ever since then. His career has been like on super straight trajectory. But I really liked him in this show. I'm GONNA miss him superbowl coming back. I'm happy about that. Yeah if you haven't seen the killing check it out. It's an awesome series. All right I will think about that sex ED thing it's like four seasons in. It's already over. So it fits your rule. You can watch the first couple and see if you're into it or not it does. Sex Education is also back on that flicks. I watched the first episode. Going back to your comedy. A subjective thing you probably will never watch the show but I found it absolutely fucking hilarious. I watched the first half of the first episode last night. I I fell asleep. 'cause I was pooped. It's good. It's good I'm going to keep watching it and is like super hot in this though you will enjoy the show. She gets her moment. Excellent excellent excellent. And let's talk about the big thing that we've all been waiting over a year and a half four star Trek Picard. The first episode dropped and I dropped my wallet into. CBS guesses coffers. Mine too and this isn't a year and a half in the waiting this is. We've been waiting for this. Since the the last episode of Next Gen well pre-ordered official announcement else went talk. Yeah finally knew it was coming. What'd you think? All the fields all the fields. There's not one feel that I didn't feel for the for the entire hour. I WANNA go back and watch it again for sure. I liked absolutely everything about it I really did. I liked the fact that it's kind of dark. I like the fact that John Luke or with Patrick Stewart really leaned into his age and his age. Yeah with the card is not a young man. Not that the next generation ration- but he's definitely not a young man picard and he plays him as an old man so It was amazing and the funny thing is because I've actually finally now paid for. CBS All access. I took around. There's absolutely nothing else. Besides the star Trek stuff on CBS. That I am slightly interested in so I will be canceling picard is over over reapply. For next season comes along but because I have easy access now I went watched an episode of Star Trek Discovery. I left off. Yeah what could stop. The presses stopped the presses. I decided to pick up from where I left off. I watched it episode after Picard. That was probably a bad idea area because our traffic card is star Trek Star. Trek discovery is a Sifi. shoot-em-up show it does not have the feels that picard gives. You know it's a completely a different beast of are you on season one season to season two. Oh you actually made it to season two okay with you. I dropped off somewhere. Like three episodes. The season two is kind of when life got to peptic. I just stopped going to Sweden to get it so Yeah it's not bad. It's just not card. No it's it gets better as the season goes to. I like this. I like season to a hell of a lot more than season. One so stick with it. It's it's it's it's a good watch. I highly recommended committee. Which is why I've been saying it for fucking year and a half to go watch it but I did so shut up and we've got the card so shut up The other thing I also watched on. CBS as they have have a couple of star trek shorts. They're actually pretty good. Do they have the Wil Wheaton one was called. The ready room is live yet or it's youtube earlier earlier. Something okay. I want to dig that up. Because basically he's doing you know talking board Hardwick. Yeah they should have called it. Let's see what to check that out so hopefully by the next episode. We'll we'll have that in the can but Yeah I you don't want to pick up on the Big Bang Theory Eh access. I love that show. I Find Young Sheldon to be far. Funnier you actually watch that. DOA fucking kidding in the news. Well addition to two Chinese New Year on the Saturday which when this episode comes out on Sunday is the grammy awards the recording at Kademi and event honoring the music industry. Or something like that. I used to care about such things when I was in the business that I stopped carrying before I got out of the business and now that I'm not really in the business I really don't care anymore. What is more interesting interesting to me? Is the fantastic drama. That is currently going on We had the former. CEO Neal Port now who stepped down after some not very very bright comments he made a year and a half ago We got a new CEO which was a woman because there is a lot of issues with that in the recording industry and he was part of the problem she has been placed on administrative leave now because she is she is she has come out swinging. She's made a lot of Of comments it's about things that have been going on in the recording academy was not happy about that so she got placed on administrative leave and she has filed a charge of discrimination with the Los Angeles. The office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging that she was pushed out as retaliation for raising complaints about sexual harassment and cracking down on culture of corruption. And self dealing some some of the complaints specify of course and this is where we get into the sad but You know here we go. We've got to. We've got our music industry. Harvey Weinstein the former CEO. O.`Neil port now has been accused of raping an unnamed female artist after a concert at Carnegie all and there she is basically stating that. The the grammys are completely rigged. I that I. That's the one thing that doesn't surprise me the whole thing. Yeah I mean it doesn't really surprise is me either. It's just a different thing being you know we all kind of we. All kind of know wrestling is fake versus Hulk Hogan coming out and saying yes wrestling fake. That's kind of where we're at right now with with the with the music industry and the Recording Academy and Boy Oh boy right before music's biggest night Graham me too I. Hey that's that's a good one. I like that so yeah I will actually be watching the grammys this year because I want to see what is mentioned. I'm expecting quite well. I'm hoping for quite a number of the female artists that when in their awards to come up and at least mentioned this and give us some thoughts. So we'll see what happens. lots of pontificating probably going on the this episode of the Grammy's Do they do they actually have a host. The grammys or is it like the Oscars whereas just throw things at the wall and see what sticks. I don't know actually I don't know I think as it Alicia Qisas it'd be hosting it again. She did it once. I don't know we'll see what happens. I haven't watched the grammys in twenty years. I haven't watched the grammys sober and twenty. Oh man well. Speaking to people who are probably not sober very often youtube moderators or being forced to sign a statement acknowledging. The job can give them. PTSD somewhere in that statement than that. They're citing is the You can't sue US we have to go to arbitration arbitration. Yes I understand. The content tonight will be reviewing maybe disturbing the document Ho. Yes of course. It is possible that reviewing such content impact my mental health and it could even lead to post traumatic stress disorder disorder. I will take full advantage of the we care program and seek additional mental health services. If needed I will.
Adam Sandler shows his serious side in the manic 'Uncut Gems'
"The new movie uncut gems arrive brives on a wave of accolades from organizations including the National Board of Review. which named Adam Sandler the year's best actor and the New York film critics circle which she gave its best director award to the filmmakers? Josh and Benny softy in the movie Sandler plays a New York jewelry dealer who becomes embroiled in various desperate schemes schemes. To get out of debt film critic. Justin Chang has this review. Adam Sandler is known for his juvenile Hollywood comedies. But if you've seen him in movies like punchdrunk punchdrunk love and the Meyer would stories. You know that he can be a superb dramatic actor when given the right material. He's found the right material. And then some in Uncut Gems uh-huh written and directed by the brothers. Josh and Benny Safdie. This is a tense and jittery throwback to CD New York crime classics such as the Gambler and bad lieutenant tenant about desperate men spiraling out of control. It's wildly entertaining. An utterly excruciating off at the same time Sandler plays an impulsive XLIV fast talking Jewish businessman named Howard Ratner who owns a jewelry store in Manhattan's Diamond District. We first meet him while. He's having a colonoscopy the the movie sly way of letting US know we're going to get uncomfortably up close and personal with the sky. It's also one of the few scenes in which the character isn't emotion. The the story unfolds over a few chaotic days in the Spring of two thousand twelve much of it takes place in his shop. Were Howard pedals. A lot of wears like stolen rolexes diamond. Diamond studded furby dolls that are almost as flashy and dubious as he is with his study earnings leather jacket and dreadful goatee but before long Howard. What is on the move? He has a sports gambling habit. That's cost him dearly and loan. Sharks have started turning up at his store to collect. But Howard isn't just addicted

our show we've grown a lot in it's because of listeners like you but anyhow let's back into the action stay tuned afterwards for a preview of episode sixteen i have advantage on all saving against spills and other magical affects i'm magic resistant but i don't think i'm not poison-resistant all right well i need you to do a concert for me then i wasn't that one but it i get to rewrote all due to reload one that's good concept yes conserve a thirteen that will save you from this who back so you take fifteen damage from that swarm high they're about to die next time hopefully yes so it is is now you've got your swarms around you got one swarm and he's got swarms as my extra attack count for all my tax just eros any melee attack got full another full okay well i'm gonna since they're all all around me now i'm going to still my bow and pull out most my sorts okay cool yep do this awesome spin when i dislike smash at one with one sword slashing sword okay cut all apart okay go ahead and roll we'll call it one swarm go ahead and roll your first role was sixteen that'll hit the second look that was a that was a fifteen snow's a fifteen that'll also hit both attacks hit what is the damage he did to them on let me see here it's d six that is for the sword first one is this thirty second set six okay the second one it was only four as you do you're cool slashing lashing around in in shit with your short swords you connect multiple times in an just there's a shower of blood and and fallen imp bodies onto the ground and then the car what are you gonna do with your with your turns there's still stuff on hawthorne right they're paying attention to you and then orangeville has the delivery boy oy cupboard yup there are no more innocence being targeted right against the ones that go after hawthorn twice right if you want to okay fourteen that'll hit right and then fourteen they'll hit as well go ahead and roll your damaged that was actually the damage oh that was the damage okay perfect then you have a second attack ten ten will not hit so you do a lot of image on that though so y- so as you swing your swing your sword around around and around with this swarm around you it's like swatting flies kind of you can get enough of them you kind of lose you can't can't get the stray ones dance yeah no it gets a little harder when it's less flies when there's a lot of flies it's real easy hit a very satisfying but yeah so you you knock out quite a few of them though so that is that is your then i believe t- what are you going to do is see how well these swords are taking out all of them so i'm going to grab my dagger and i'm also going to cast vampiric touch on it and that does what again this is my level three spell that i learned from leveling okay the touch of your shadow retail can siphon the force of others to heal your wounds make a melee attack heck on creature within your reach on a hit it takes three six and a chronic damage graham all right no i can keep you can keep easing that melee attack on every turn and it stays with it for up to a minute okay so i'm gonna money used that with my technical dagger i'm its role as an eighteen so it's gonna be twenty two twenty two all right and this is the one that surrounding you yeah okay twenty two perfect you've got both of them so okay perfect so you you whisper shit i'm mhm just rolled for damage continuous what you were saying oh that wasn't the damage now that was oh that was a hit okay well then go ahead with your your damage i'm sorry so thirteen attic damage off of my spell yet do you wanna do rounding down or up for heels you can round up that's fine so he'll eight now he'll seven if it's fourteen gene then yet so you would he'll slap him and then i got six off of just the dagger so nineteen damage image out perfect so together perfect all right so you grab hold of your dagger agar and the tentacles wrap themselves around your your wrist as you pull it out as you pull it out you whisper some sweet nothings into your dagger you're as it just shrouds in darkness and you stab upwards into the entirety thirty of this swarm of creatures and tendrils just dart off into several of the the m.'s and just pissed in like the weirdest mosquito you've ever seen drain them and they just fall to the ground in in like like raisins and while you've still got some out there but the ones that you just you feel healthier even though you really shouldn't because that's kinda feel better you feel better but you death talks me life now we're down to really three storms uh-huh we got the one around car the one massive one around or in the one around t. so so the three of them the one around car attacks and i fifteen does not cut your arm class right now nope the one around oran kits eight nap one so as their weren't finished confusion yes as they're swarming around you they go in four just they're trying to dodge your sword attacks as they want to attack you but never lined up by the light streaming off my amazing velten and and a light catches is the belt just just amazingly and just shines deeply into their eyes as they go to attack they end up attacking each other for a while pain eleven damage the whole swarm yeah yeah they they fucked themselves a bit new purchase that was wonderful purchase here so the one surrounding t. eight does not cut your arm class so they also miss you as they're swarming about you but the car what would you like to do with your with your swarm quick question should i mention about when i do light damage when you do light damage yeah yeah i suppose these are are you using your yeah i've been using my long sort of daylight savings for a while because it has better stats okay well we'll round it down here and say that it was that some of the radiance was done because they are definitely demons or fiennes like okay okay yes those that would definitely do some damage to these fiends i completely forgot you were using that no i forgot to ashes like oh i'm just using that wait do i have to mention that it's considered radiance damage yes ideally remind me 'cause sometimes i forget to the d four of ratings damage so it's not that much yeah no i rounded down we were close enough to a whole number on these so what are you doing with them i'm just gonna i often swipe site hopefully go ahead and run roll your stuff and then you're gonna go row well swipe weight restriction swiping swiping i dunno never use that haven't either is it right or left right he swiped right and they kill them off you have to do left don't swipe left left okay i haven't used it either so i don't know just not social people non-social people but what he got twenty one twenty one yup that'll hit eight normal damage plus three radiance damage eight plus three three perfects and the second attack it's the same the same that'll hit three damage and six normal damage all right so as tzu he get a real good grip on your your daylight saving sword and any listen closely closely you close your eyes and you listen closely with your cat ears you take your cat ears i hear what you're cashier here a lot of flies kind of kind of accurate but so you swing just in a massive arc and somehow have lined up in your swing all of the remaining m's in your swarm warm and just cleave them all in half and they all just collapsed to the floor and you've you've ended this swarm the swarm as uh t- i'm gonna swing my dagger up in the air as it still has has touched the buric all right go ahead thirteen thirteen yeah thirteen sweet all right fourteen damage fourteen damage in total yep okay perfect so once again you you also get the health benefit of okay for five ten damage oh gotcha gotcha gotcha okay and that was the whole damage you got but i don't think so that's that's fine so once again stab away using your mosquito dagger essentially and raising a fi- a few more here there's only a few left remaining air royer airborne around you here now so.

"There is open or closed into eternity battery lists but nonetheless us i assume awakening in the middle of the night to garble out a few demonic words from the alleged government experiment arcade game police yes to the bush era rumors that saddam hussein was crafting weapons of mass destruction out of playstation. Two consoles urban legends have always abounded about about children's toys and games wherever kids are having fun. They're always wild rumors or conspiracy theories to go along with them but no toy has attracted it quite as many urban legends and conspiracy theories as that big eyed thick. I lashed yellow beaked robot gremlin known of course as furby most millennials either outta furby or at least knew someone who did lately throwing it out a window at some point or cooking in a microwave only to have it reappear here on the desk in your room. Furby emerged as one of the first computerized robot toys before the popular an endless supply of robot dogs. I certainly had in the very beginning beginning of the two thousand such as hoochie ice i._b. And the eye dog all deeply disappointing technology when furby debuted in nineteen ninety eight eight it seemed to be unprecedented in its level of artificial intelligence and people went absolutely nuts with stores selling out all over the country furby it was marketed as a toy that actually learned from its owner when you first bought a furby it would only speak in this language known as furbish a gibberish toddler like language however after a while it would slowly start to say words in english as if it were a real child learning to speak from its parent but that was all part of the illusion while millions enjoyed teaching their fergus to speak few actually understood that furby was not learning from you all furby toys choice from the original line did not learn english they were simply programmed to transition from furbish to english over predetermined amount of time but as furby was is the first of its kind it inevitably led to a misunderstanding on the part of the consumer her people assume that because apparently learned to speak from you it must have a microphone phone to listen with right and if it had a microphone who's to say it's not recording everything. We're saying tiger electronics. The company behind furby have eventually issued a statement confirming that no they're colorful. Furry robot toy for children was not spying on people while the original furby did have a microphone. It was only a sensor that could detect if someone was speaking to the furby but not what they said that way furby. We could seemingly respond to what you were saying though its programming only knew that you were speaking not the content of what you were saying. Furby had no capability to here her let alone record or even understand what children were saying so if you remember all those parents claiming that furby was teaching their kids bad words or if you remember being a kid trying to teach your furby bad words well unfortunately none of it was true. This bombshell revelation from tiger electronics that furby be wasn't a spy only came about after furby related paranoia had reached the highest offices of the american intelligence network the national security the agency amidst the furby craze in nineteen ninety nine the n._s._a. Offices at fort meade north dakota actually banned furby toys from the premises in a memo komo that read quote personally owned photographic video and audio recording equipment are prohibited items this includes toys such as verbis with bilton recorders that repeat the audio <hes> with synthesized sound to mimic the original conspiracy theories about furby had also reached the naval shipyards in norfolk virginia where official email sent personnel stated that furby quote is considered a recording device and as such is not allowed without the commander's approval. If you see one you're to take proper action sees it and its owner this security violation the toy shall be held as evidence on a chain of custody form though the myths were quickly dispelled that furby was recording conversations it would not be the last time that rumors would emerge about the toy another feature a furby was if you place them near each other they would have a conversation for sation within its first year of release hospitals and airplanes were added to the list of places that furby was banned from this time because of the suspicion that the computerized arised toy give off electromagnetic waves hospitals fear that furby could electronically interfere with their medical equipment and the federal aviation administration recommended that furby toys not be allowed on airliners for the risk of interfering with the navigational equipment needed for takeoffs and landings again tiger electronics had to respond with their spokeswoman land simon adding that their staff got a big laugh out of the f._a._a.'s statement like the urban legends of the furby recording device ice the claims of hospitals and the f._a._a. Came from a basic misunderstanding of the toys technology while the original furby did have a function that enabled it to sense when another furby furby was around and talk to it. The function used only infrared technology. The same kind in remote controls furby was not capable of shutting down life support support systems or sabotaging aircraft landings despite these slanderous allegations against furby tiger electronics laughed all the way to the bank. Thank with twenty seven million toys sold in a year. The company's president robert shiffman joked about the claims in nineteen ninety nine saying quote. I've been told that we're developing furby that can drive a car in the year two thousand. We've also been told that the current furby has the technology to launch the space shuttle. And so my mom woke up and hit in one of the cabinets in the kitchen, and then it made it started echoing from there to the point, where woke my dad up, my mom was already sleep again. So he didn't know what my mom had put in the cabinet. So he is heard like. Sharing from. So he got a broom or something like that, and is like fuck it slamming around in the cloud. It's me was very toy. And then he got so mad from it that he when he found it got him so mad at like, you know when you stop being scared, and now you're just mad some scared you that wasn't scary. It's now you just feel foolish angry because we took you out to the back patio and just beating the shit out of it with the broom, just like shouted, I go, I woke up in the morning was a strewn corpse of a Furby in the backyard. Four years old. I mean that's just that was your father. He wanted to beat you. I'll settle for the firm. I don't know if it was my for everybody siblings. I definitely I mean I could throw my kids at the window right now. I I'm gonna have to go to the gym or do something punch something. Otherwise, it's gonna be begins. I'm going to go home and smash there is that they just don't have to sleep anymore, Keegan just crawls out of the crib. Now he just fucking throws his leg over like repels down. Does it all smooth? He's like good at it. Just doesn't go to sleep. I put them in there. He crawls out every single time. And then when I finally do I finally got him to sleep satire, rubbed a stupid fucking back his dumped asks for an hour. And then shake comes barging in the ipad, battery died and wakes him up. And I was like fuck you fuck you too. It's like whack a moment. Honestly the scene last night. And the, the scene is weak. It really it could it could be like a scene on a sitcom called like single dad or some shit like that. Like I am just absolutely drowning like it is impossible to raise them alone. It's like she goes on. You're like oh snap London bridge. And then we move on. But this is now become the fem- song to this movie. It's a London bridge Prentice Minna, black international version. And then of course, you know, we were talking about for retirement London bridge and Bobby had to go look up. What London bridge is or what it means? And we're back to that same debate in the alternate cover for London bridge. She standing in front of like she was taking on a candidate. Please. She's Kapiti Furby London bridge cover. Alternate cover is her taking touristy photo. Like, Josh all took this photo of her. Her standings tower. No, but like TD on whether that's actually a photo of her in front of anything at all the rain screen, it could be screened. But also London bridge is not a song about low. No, of course, bridges a song about a sex act, and that is straight from Fergie for mouth. It's like somebody was browsing urban dictionary. And wrote this song based on something they'd seen. It's like a sex act that no one actually does it's not a real sect. So this is a this is a quote from furred. Calling on. It's it refers to win two women to men have sex and former position to make a bridge. Yes. The classic the classic London bridge. And then I guess someone was asking her about this. And they were like despite writing about the racy subject for insists that she's never participated in the act, and here's the verb quote have ever been involved in one. "Do you think when Furby says me scared that Furby feeling the same way? Yeah. Yeah. No, no. Yeah. Yeah. Joy. I think that it can feel pain sword of experience with a Furby seem to leave the kids kind of conflicted going in different directions. At once it was to FOX two thousand the same time one thought was like look again for crying out loud. But another thought was still helpless. Maybe feel guilty sorta way to make me feel like a coward. You know, when I was interacting with my Furby a lot. I did have this feeling sometimes of having my chain yanked. Why would why would a is it just a little squeals that its is? There's something about the way that makes it good at this. That was kind of my question. So I called up as well all have him. I'm here this freight train of a guy. Hey kay. This is jammed from radio from radio lab got. How are you? I'm good beautiful day here in Boise. This is Caleb. Chung? He actually designed the Furby. Yeah. We're we're all Furby crazy here. So there's medication. You can. To start. Can you just give me the sort of fast, cutting MTV montage of your life leading up to Furby? Sure. Hippie parents out of the house at fifteen and a half put myself through junior high started my first business at nineteen or something early twenties being a street mime in L A street. Mine became an actor one hundred and twenty shows in an orangutan costumes, and I started working on special effects and building my own taking those around the studios in the suit build the suit around me, put me on location. I could fix it when it broke. Wow. That was after a long and circuitous route Caleb Chung eventually made it into toys answered an ad at Mattel found himself in his garage in this piles of styrene, plastic knife, superglue Bucci Motors making these little prototypes. And the goal. He says was always very simple. How do I get a kid? Have this thing hanging around with them for a long time. How do I get a kid to actually bond with most toys you play for fifteen minutes? And then you put him in the corner until their batteries are dead. I wanted something that they would play with for a long time. So how do you make that toy? Well. There's rules. There's you know, the size of the is there's the distance of the top lid to the pupil. Right. You don't want any of the top of the white of your eyes showing. That's that's that's freaky surprise. When it came to the is if you look at a baby and the way they a baby looks at their mother, they track from eyebrows to mouth they track up and down on the face. So how'd you how'd you made Furby look left? And right rather than up and down. It would have probably flopped. No wouldn't have flopped. It would just sucked a little it's like a bad actor who uses his arms to much you'd notice it. And it would keep you from just being in the moment. But what is the thought behind that? Is it is it is it that you want to convince the child that the thing they're using is fill in the black. What you're alive? There's three.
Deadly escaped rhesus macaque monkeys invade Florida
"At eleven percent per year. And again, I want to get back to this deadly Furby simplex virus, it this is what I was like. Well, I mean, are you saying that I mean, I don't believe you're not. It's not that anybody's doing anything. It is Florence possible. The one ugly woman, but I somebody did die from it. No. I'll say this. If you're in Florida, I don't think you I think there's way more stuff to be worried about if you're in Florida than these deadly monkeys. I think they're like number eight. I don't know. I think you might be better off if you worry about the deadly monkey your day will be more enjoyable. The monkeys our number eight where where's the Broward County election board? Gotcha. That at like number seven. I think the actual systemic Florida problems Fara Getty flash panel elections that are going right? Okay. This. If you catch this this herpes simplex be from the rhesus monkeys. It'll it'll it'll give you it does spinal inflammation. And it'll either kill you or give you brain damage, and it's very difficult to get. But if you get a monkey monkey body fluid in your eye or something like that like one of them throw something at you or your performing open heart surgery. All right out of a van. I heard you say this last night that you know, if you get because one person who died from it. She got. Yeah. She got she got monkey body fluids say what? But you know, I I don't know. I mean, monkeys you know, they could have thrown something we don't number of situation, but it did killers. It is it is a concern. They're they're coming up with all these solutions of like, well, we can like we can we could we can castrate every fourth monkey like that's a solution is to try and like we don't want to ruin the population. And right. The thing that I I started thinking about was Florida has twenty nine electoral votes. It has deadly escaped swimming system case. Twenty nine electoral votes. Right. George f will zero electoral votes, George f will he lives in a library. He basically lives in a library with a mattress in the middle. Here's your next question the easy bake oven classic toy, but mostly popular with girls when Hasbro tried to market the toy to boys it failed. And that was probably because they did what they called it. The queasy bake cooker raider with recipes for mud and crab, cakes and dripping drool dog bones. Be they read it TV AB with the boy using his easy bake oven to melt, his sisters Barbie. They just painted it black and rebranded it, the automatic woozy food shooter gun. Here's your next question the easy bake oven classic toy, but mostly popular with girls when Hasbro tried to market the toy to boys it failed. And that was probably because they did what they called it. The queasy bake cooker raider with recipes for mud and crab, cakes and dripping drool dog bones. Be they read it TV ad with the boy using his easy bake oven to melt, his sisters Barbie. They just painted it black and rebranded it, the automatic Uzi food shooter gun. Be guess be the TV bad using his easy bake oven to melt his Barbie. They had done that. They would have sold them to boy. What they did was they called it the queasy bake. Cookery? All boys across America were like come on. All right. You've one more chance and you can win it. All here's your last question. "Like you normally would have and that is going to have an impact uk i mean obviously you'll have some minor league rehab starts but that's still not getting ramped up to you know when you go to spring training you have your starters go fifty pitches you work itself up to 75 pitches and then it's at ninety and then you're you're working wept your opening day start which beyond rapacious he's not going to have that so that's where the twins are going to have to lean on a guy like berrios who i think is capable of being that frontline got and that that's why treading water early on is so important is because they get a guy like santana back i know a few years ago we might look at somebody missing spring training as a downpour as a detriment to how their season trajectory might might look for furby nowadays i don't care i could give a damn because if you are healthy later in the season and you're giving the team an opportunity to get into ballgames deeper all a santana the five see jeez three of them shut pieces levy said yet through serbia for flux state so when when you're running that night out there late august early september and he didn't have you know april and may's miles on his arm this season the that you're doing alright for me you're doing okay if the guys we mentioned are able to keep them afloat and keep them in that hunt is because uh that that central not not to not to kind not to cairo well at least that the top team um threat us that divisions fucking dogs shit um.
