"Adapted my pentax hd lenses to the fuji film camera. So i put a piece on digital story on this and this is just one of those things. I love doing but i have. Those crop sensor lenses for pentax are fantastic their. Hd lenses are wonderful. So the twenty one millimeter in the seventy millimeter and the forty millimeter are all just gorgeous. Great color great sharpness and they're super compact. And i go all right. Same size sensor all have to find an adapter now the the problem with the pentax lenses they don't have an aperture ring on them so they're stopped down all the way so you have to have an adapter for them that opens those lenses up. So i looked around. I looked around and i actually found a gobi lens. Adapter for only twenty six dollars and fifty cents and i had the link to it in the show notes. That not only. Does it adapt those lenses. That i love so much to the fuji film exceed four or any fuji film camera. It also has an aperture ring control on it so i can have the limbs wide open. I can stop it down one. Stop to stops whatever i wanted to do. And it's super well-made looks great so for twenty six bucks and you know. I get to add three lands to the fuji film body and all three lengths. I tested all three lenses on the xy. Four and the images were beautiful. Absolutely there's something about those coatings on the pentax lenses They get along fantastic with a sensor on the fuji film. And i just love the shots loved them and their compact right they. You know they bounce nicely on that small camera and the whole deal so I have a link to that gobi. Adapter they make all sorts of adapters. This is the first one that i've bought from them as be. And if the other ones are as good as this one. I would say that. If you're looking for an adapter to you know make certain lands work on your mirrorless camera. I would take a look at these guys. If they have the adapter. You need i give it a try. Because i am really happy with this one that i have for twenty six bucks and i tell you as i said it's been a blast shooting with those pentax lenses on the exit for in the speaking of pentax.

Why Now Is the Time for Infrared Photography

"I have one two three walks. That i take daily in every time i head out the door. I have a camera with me hoping to capture something new and unique. These walks important because my jobs as a photographer have all been crushed by the virus. And i haven't traveled for work since march twenty twenty so each day. I hope to see something new to record and possibly share with others in lately each day. I've been disappointed. So one of my friends herald is a big fan of infrared photography and he's shown me a lot of different things that you can do with it to go beyond what i've dabbled with the years so i go all right. This is kind of exciting. So i decided to revisit. What's happening in. I are and to tell you the truth. What's going on right now. Blew my mind. It did in the me excited about my daily walks again now. The big leap that i took this time. And i'm gonna talk about a pun intended the full spectrum of photography In a few minutes here because you can start versus simply. I done that. And it's very satisfying and then there are more options and more options more options and each time you go to that next set of options everything gets a bit more exciting but in the beginning any of it is exciting. Believe especially compared to probably which you've been doing or haven't been doing lately the big leap that i took was guinea my hands on a olympics. Emt mark three that had been converted to full spectrum by kalari vision now. Kalari vision is a company There about three companies. You know three big name companies. That are doing these infrared. Conversions and kalari vision is my favorite of the three. I have a camera by them. I've talked with them. I mean these are terrific folks and they really know what they're doing and all you have to do is click on the link in the site and you can go over there in you know read All sorts of background information really understand what's going on with infrared photography learn about all the filters learn about all the cameras you know by converted cameras. Get your camera converted. I mean it just goes on. And on and i'll go into more of that right now but when i referred to kalari vision that is the company that is doing the work you know for the gear that i'm using and they provide the filters that i use with that gear so getting this ten mark three converted to full spectrum camera just opened up this whole new world for me beyond what i had experienced before with. Ira photography because by using different filters a different points in the wavelength I was able to create completely different effects for example now on i take those daily walks over familiar territory which i'm doing still right because things haven't really changed to tell you the truth. It's like i'm in a different world each day on monday. I can shoot with a seventy two filter for stunning. I are black and white photography and then on tuesday take the same walk with the i. r. chrome filter and get something completely different this delicious world of complimentary oranges in blues. So every day is new. Thanks to photography. And now i'm excited. I'm excited i'm excited to go on the walk. I'm excited thinking about okay. How am i going to approach today. And because you don't know how certain things are going to look until you actually look at them through the camera. It's like this adventure in. You have like this magic set of glasses to unlock the view into this different world. And sometimes i'm very surprised but what i see. Sometimes you can kind of anticipate a little bit. What you're gonna see but every time it is then fresh and exciting. Now this backup a little bit on you know getting started with. I are so you can start small and ease into i r or go big with the converted camera and then you know there's like lots of options in between what i'm going to do now is give you five helpful tips about. I are photography to help you. Kinda shape your approach right now anyway and then you can plot your path forward after that but kind of help you figure out where to start right now with this if you are indeed interested in it. Here's the first thing you can test an existing camera for i our sensitivity. Some cameras just right out of the box are more sensitive to the i. R. part of the spectrum then other cameras. Which is you know the i parts of the higher end of the spectrum. I have like for instance one of those. It is a older fuji film. X twenty is just a regular x twenty s a little Range finder camera. That will super popular when it was out because it was small enough to put in your pocket but you know it packed some really nice kind of professional level features in it so. I've always liked this camera. In fact i believe it was the first fujifilm's digital camera i own so one of the delights with this camera is that it also has pretty decent i are sensitivity

Using Your Smartphone with Your Digital Camera, Not Instead of It

"Today's theme is using your smartphone with your digital camera. Not instead of it. I'm derek story. There's been so much talk about how smartphones will replace our digital cameras. But i think for nimble photographers. That's the wrong approach instead. Let's explore how we can use smartphones with our digital cameras instead of replacing them. I'll share one scenario today with a fujifilm x one hundred v in iphone. Twelve pro max. Although there are many combinations that will work great for both ios and android and of course on the digital camera side as well. I hope you enjoy the show. They're certainly situations. When i want my digital camera with all its tools inconveniences and then other situations when my smartphone will work. Just fine but to tell you the truth. The best scenario is having both with me. And that's what. I want to explore today now on the digital camera side when i discovered is that if i go with smaller more compact cameras which shouldn't be a shock to you right the fujifilm x one hundred v the olympus pen f the fujifilm x f. Ten with the twenty eight millimeter f. Two point eight lands those kinds of cameras that i absolutely love shooting with. But i don't want to carry all the accessories and everything you know. That's the funny thing about digital photography you can start out with a relatively compact camera and then maybe a compact lens and then you start packing your bags and go. I really should bring this. And i really should bring that. I need a longer lens. I need a wider lens. I probably should have a flash all that kind of stuff. Maybe i should bring my ipad. Maybe i should bring you know my Laptop maybe i should bring all the stuff in the next thing you know even though you started out with a relatively compact camera ended up with a relatively large camera kip. And if you're just going out the door for a walk you're going to. Maybe you know go visit a local park. If you're going to do something like that. Do you really need to bring all that stuff with you. Well i mean at the end of the day. That's a question that only you can answer. However i'm going to pose an approach that maybe you want to think about. That is a very nice alternative to starting out with a small camera and ending up with a big kit now the idea. I'm going to present to you. Today is taking one of your favourite microphone. Thirds are a pse cameras that you truly like. It could be a relatively compact a photo frame mirrorless as well if especially if it had A lens on it. That was reasonable in size and then augmenting it with a smartphone and especially one of the more current smartphones made by all the heavy hitters but especially smartphones at least two cameras you know two lenses and ideally three cameras or three lenses now the idea being that that smartphone can fill in the gaps that normally would be stuffing stuff into your camera bag to fulfill. And then you get to pick a camera that you truly like with lens that you absolutely love but are not worried about being limited by just having that one camera in that one lens with you you know you have like your favorite thing to shoot with just go. I love shooting with his camera. I love this lind's and then you have your sophisticated smartphone in your other pocket. That will allow you to leave everything else behind. Just your favourite camera just your smartphone and see how far you can go well. The fact of the matter is through my testing. You can go pretty far so what i'm gonna do right now is i. I'm going to start out. With listing some of the benefits of digital cameras. These are the things that i like about a digital camera. This is why. I will not give up a digital camera right and then i'm going to list some of the advantages of smartphones because they have many advantages as well and then i'm going to do is for the third list. I'm going to combine the two and say this is the dan of using both of these devices already so that is going to be the flow of this show. So let's start out with the list of benefits for digital cameras and for me. There are many the first thing that i like is that they typically have great viewfinders. That are so nice in so many different situations. In of course bright sunlight being at the top of the list so if i can look through a very nice electronic viewfinder a very nice optical viewfinder in compose a shot in really contrast bright conditions. I like that better than having to compose the lcd

"Mirrorless. The z six mark. Two and mark to would clearly be excellent options. If you think nikon's can be sticking around just saying times are tough out there. So that's a decision for you to make like i said in today's current economy especially with covid nineteen. And all it's going on with that in the world. I think it's perhaps a bit too risky to get into the nikon system. Sony would certainly be a safer choice in my opinion or full frame and of course fuji film for a pse crop but with nikon now being in third and the crazy world that we live in. I personally would think twice about buying into the nikon mir lizzy system. I think it's smart to mow that. Do some research and think about the level of risk that you're willing to take on. It's probably okay. Probably i mean i'm pulling for an icon on the dias. Laura side nikon was my go-to for many many years. But i think it's wise hearing late. Twenty twenty to consider all the options. Make the best choice for yourself personally. And that said ninety nine point. Nine percent of photographers could definitely make incredible images with the mark two versions of the z. Six z savon. They're great cameras. No doubt about it next as you know. I've been a fujifilm shooter for a few years now at least three well before they even sponsor this show which has been i think about a year and a half or so and of the reasons i wanted to get into the system. Well an addition to being great gear of course is the fact that fujifilm puts a lot of thought behind making existing cameras even better. And that's not something that most camera companies do they just don't they want you to buy their new stuff now. Some of those companies have made little efforts in that direction but not quite like fuji. Film does the old saying goes that fujifilm's firmware updates are like downloading a new camera. And it's true especially in version. Four dot o. For the x t three which is available right now as you probably know i have the x t to as well as the t three. I love them both. I haven't had any issues at all. Would their autofocus especially with the xt three as the camera. I choose between the two. When i'm shooting action otherwise i might shoot the xt to. That's the backup camera. But that said it can always be faster right and it is now and that's because it was sweet little but big update that the company quietly announced and with this update x t three users upon updating our cameras we'll have af performance that according to the company is quote to the same level as the fujifilm st four and quote so like the vast majority of x t three users. You've got a camera. You already love and by updating the firmware you've got significantly better performance so i ask you who wouldn't want that that's right landscape shooters because that stuff is not moving. Hopefully unless there's an earthquake in which case you've got other problems af speed doesn't matter to landscape shooters for the most part. Let's say pretty much always so you're likely focusing wants and disabling your autofocus altogether but for sports in action shooters and hack even portrait..

5 Ways to Spice Up Your Pix Life

"Much has been written about the evils of your Acquisition Syndrome often referred to as gas. And the US. It is a real thing for many photographers. But my personal view of this election is isolated more to spending big bucks on cameras and lenses. What about those smaller purchases that bring us true joy and energize our enthusiasm for photography. I'll make my anti gas case on today's tedious podcast I. Hope You enjoy the show. I don't know if you've ever done this but I'm going to admit you right now. That I have okay. Now fortunately is just you and me so you know no one else will. No I've never I've never admitted this anywhere else before. And this is the truth I'm telling you the truth right now. So but just from my mouth to your ears right now have you ever Set. A new camera or an accessory for it. On. The table in front of you while you worked watch TV listen to music you know just. said it there It wasn't in use. There was no particular reason to do this. Other than you just wanted to look at it and admire it's beauty. I've done that. Honestly, I. I have done that more than once. To cases that come to mind right now, the first one is the Olympus pen. F. In its handsome leather half case Oh. My Gosh. What a beauty So pretty. The other one is the Fujifilm x one hundred V with its aluminum grip? Yeah. That's pretty two different cameras you know the my pen F is a silver Penev. Got Some really beautiful silver lenses and I get this brown leather half case with a matching rhys strap. Really Nice and then my ex one hundred V is the all black model which I really liked for the Fuji Film. And it has this aircraft aluminum grip really really pretty. Really Nice. And when I look at these things sitting on the table in front of me. While I'm watching TV, while I'm listening to music while I'm browsing the web doing whatever the heck. I do at ten o'clock at night. It makes me WANNA go out and take pictures you know I go i. Can't wait to get that camera my hands and go do something. And that's the idea that's the idea and especially right now that's the idea. To be excited to have enthusiasm to you know want to go do something that you actually can do pick up your camera and go take pictures when we're a bit stale feeling that stale how can we spark this kind of joy? Without digging our credit cards for a fifteen hundred dollar charge in my trick as you've already figured out has been through new accessories and techniques, and you may be surprised to know that I have five of these. To share with you this week. Okay. So let's let's get started on these little things. This is my anti-gas list. Okay. Because they don't qualify they don't call not one of these qualify. For Gear Acquisition Syndrome and you can argue that with me but I'm not going to yield on this on already. Here we got and I'm GonNa fool with you on the first one the first one's. GonNa. Mess with you right out of the shoot. The first one is a new Lens. Coin what you just said, right a new lens but a vintage one. Yes. So it's only new to you is been around for a long time. Yes. You could spend twelve hundred dollars on a new state of the art optic no problem. You can spend more than that if you wanted. But scoring of vintage beauty for one hundred dollars or less. Can Be just as satisfying in evokes a far less guilt. In the images that this glass producers can truly inspiring because it seems like each lens that you find on Ebay or craigslist or Oetzi or your local camera shop each vintage lens that you find has a different feel to it and. Go. Wow. This is really Kinda neat and sometimes in the world of digital optics everything sort of produces the same super magnificent results right which is great. Until you know a thousand frame of the same super magnificent result and he got I really would like to see something different. A new vintage lens can do that. And since most of US shoot murless or have a meritless camera, they adapt these lenses adapt. So well, meritless cameras. It's not even funny. You can get an adapter for like fifteen bucks at works. Great. You have this manual Focus Lens you take some pictures with it. You're going. Wow, this is really interesting. This looks different. It's different operating is different looking through the electronic viewfinder with it's just different the way around and it can be very motivating very inspiring. It can push you to photograph things that you might bypass otherwise just because turn out interesting with this particular Lens.

Data Visualization for How You Shoot

"We record except data with every picture we take. But how do we use it? If we examine our camera settings over a period of time with a specific model. We can learn a lot about how we capture. This information can help us change the look of our pictures plus assist us with buying decisions for new gear. And the best part is this exercise is both easy and cheap learn how on today's TVs photography podcast? So this is super interesting. I knew the title. Isn't that sex whenever you have data in the title unless you're a star Trek Fan is not that interesting. Okay, but this is truly interesting, and here's the project that I've been working on that. I WANNA share with you today, so I've been shooting with Fuji Film X One Hundred V, since March, in the reason for that is not the only camera shot with, but when I've gone. Gone outside. Is the camera even shooting with? Because I've been doing street photography whenever I wander outside now inside shooting with the Nikon the Olympics, you know all that kind of stuff that you have been hearing and seeing, but when I step out the door in get into an urban environment pretty much since March it's been the Fujifilm x one hundred, and I'm getting to know this camera. This is my first. X One hundred I like a lot, but I'm still learning about it and me together. So the way that I do street photography. At least the way I've done it since March Is. When I get out there, I really want to be thinking about the composition about how I hold the camera about what's in the viewfinder. You know all that kind of stuff and I'm not ask concerned with the actual settings, as I am with other types of targets for example with portrait photography. I'm really thinking about aperture lot I'm really thinking about color a lot with product photography. I'm thinking about depth of field and I'm thinking about exposure. You know so different types of photography have me focus on different things in terms of what are the priorities? So when I go out the door with the FUJIFILM x one hundred I'm really thinking composition I mean. That is my prime thing, and so as a resolve. What I've been doing is setting the camera basically on program mode, so it's on auto exposure in aperture and I've even gone so far as to using auto ISO with. Now in the beginning, I didn't really know how that would work out. And I soon found that this camera is really smart and it a great job in the way that I've been making any sort of adjustments and I'm giving away a little something here from the data. Because I didn't really realize this until I started studying the data, the way that I'm adjusting. The exposure is with exposure compensation. And I know that for a fact now because I have data to back it up so basically what I have been doing is putting it in program mode figuring out what film simulation I want that fits the mood of what I'm capturing, and then I'm just letting it fly just lay, and I have to tell you I have been. Really pleased with the results. This has been a lot of fun. Have Done Street photography in Los Angeles for our March Street photography workshop. I went to San Francisco. As you know a right before they started to open up again and did some black and white street photography there. I've done some photography in Santa Rosa. Here I go out on my bike and that way I can. Get through the police barriers, and all that kind of stuff more easily than I could with a car so I mean I've had some really interesting spots each time that I go out to shoot. I'm thinking about okay. What film simulation do I want and you know one of my after here, but the primary thing is that I need to be able to react quickly and I don't want to miss any shots. I really don't to miss any shots and to be honest with you. I have missed a very few so rolling that all up. That's a big setup for this data visualization thing because when I heard about this APP photo statistic. All one word. Ph Ot O. S. T. A. T.. I STI FOOT OF STATISTIC UP IS A two dollar ninety nine cents APP that you can get in the Mac, APP store It runs on the MAC platform. When I heard about this I go you know what I would love to analyze my work with the X. One hundred V since I've been shooting street photography with it in March and really Kinda. See what's going on in this APP is perfect. What this APP allows me to do is I can point. At a folder full of just I can point it at a capture. One Catalog I can pointed at a photos library. and. I can say you know analyze it. It will analyze the data and shots, and then it gives me all these different ways to look at that information

5 Ways to Improve Your Videoconference Presence

"Needless to say I've had some interesting online conversations over the last couple of months. I have seen parts of people's houses that I really wasn't prepared for and then there has been a mix of interesting lighting in tin can audio. Yes it has been the wild wild west. So what I've decided to do is take the microphone by the horns and do two things for my contribution to the greater video conferencing world. I I have some tips today. That are easy to enable and that with a little adjustment here or there you should be able to enable. You should be able to use these pretty quickly second later this week. I'm releasing a new online workshop. Called the essential steps to impressive video conferencing. It's a one hour movie that covers audio video and environment and I really get into some cool tips now. I'll talk more about this later in the show. But I'm GonNa tell you right now. That is free to our inner circle members who support this podcast on patron for right now. Let's get to those five tips already tip number one get the to Kia. Yes and you probably want wine. Do you want me to and I'm thinking more like Ikea. Dot Com right because shopping inside care right. A lot of places probably just isn't going to happen but I can't dot com is doing well and if you go to the search box on in enter diffused lighting. You'll get a variety of lamps and lampshades. That are exactly what you need one way or another one of. Them's going to be something that you need now. What is the deal with this Derek? Well here's the deal that the lighting on so many of these calls that I'm watching is terrible. The light tends to be too harsh the wrong color. You all sorts of things and really. What I'm seeing is that people really aren't thinking about. How do I get a flattering light on my face? Which should be really kind of at the top of the list like this. I don't WanNa look terrible. When on these webcams alrighty so how do I look better well? The rule for portrait photography applies to video conferencing as well which is the larger the light source right in the closer to your face the softer the light. And then if you position that light so this more or less you know coming straight on to your face you know. That's what we call fashion lighting and it is very flattering. There's a reason why fashion photographers use it. It makes people look pretty so going back to Ikea if you shop on Kia and you shop. Four diffused lighting. You'll see these lamps and all sorts of goodies that you can accessorize your desk with in suddenly. Look a ton better and the reason why I pick you could get these all sorts of places. But they're actually quite affordable so you get a very attractive desk accessory now and you will look much more attractive on camera if you follow this tip. Now here's the other part of that tip which is get something that's daylight balanced or s close to daylight balanced as possible and again. This is another mistake that I see so often. Which is if you have a tungsten lightbulb shining on you. You're going to be orange. And if you have fluorescent tubes eliminating your mug you're GonNa be Green and neither of those really make great colors for face right so you want a daylight balance tube or as close to daylight as you can get so two parter. One diffused lighting coming straight on and be second part of one. Get as close to daylight balance as you can already. That's tip number one. Here's tip number two. It's called Darling. You Look Marvelous now. Unfortunately those built in seven twenty p Webcams for many laptops and desktops. Just aren't very flattery. And I would go so far as to say that. They are often terrible cracks me up. I have a a state of the art macbook pro thirteen inch. This is a gorgeous machine. It does everything a beautifully except for one thing except for one thing it has that lousy seven twenty p facetime camera that when I turn it on and I look at me I do not feel good. Do not feel plus. They can't control it It has way too much depth of field. I can't control exposure. I mean just goes on and on these things are agonizing and especially for those of us who like photography their double agonizing. So we've got to get away from those now. There are a couple of things you can do. If you have a cam link already which is a digital interface that allows you to connect your digital camera to your computer. You have a lump of gold right now because they are hard to find the ones that I really like are the ones who made by El Gato however if you do a little searching online and you search for video digital interface there are some other ones and there's one right now that's fairly affordable from e can get h Made by I o gear. I think it's like ninety nine bucks That people are saying works. Pretty well and the supply of those seem to be you know pretty regular. I know that this is probably the one thing that many people don't have but is the one thing that many people should get in especially in our audience because our audience as full of people who have these beautiful Sony Olympus Panasonic Fujifilm Nikon Canon cameras right. If you have a cannon camera by the way cannon just came out with some software that you can use and you don't have to get the digital interface and just play your cannon camera in so if you're a canon shooter you may want to check that out

"The Fujifilm X100V Hands On"

"The Fujifilm x one hundred V pay. Psc Compact camera has been steadily evolving. Since I first saw at photo Kina in two thousand ten immediately after release it developed a dedicated following but there were many including myself who remained on the sidelines monitoring its evolution through five generations. Today's camera the one hundred. V is the result of ten years of development. And it's the lead topic in today's TVs photography podcast. I hope you enjoy the show. There are so many ways for me to talk about of this camera and I've really been thinking about okay. How do I approach it on? Today's show I've been working with it for a number of weeks now and I have a lot to say and probably a lot more than I can say in. Just one show a similar situation that I had with the EM one mark. Three right. But I had to pick an angle so the angle that I have decided to choose are what are the factors that have moved me from the sidelines of watching. This camera evolved since I was first introduced to it at photokina. Two thousand ten and and got to talk. Fuji Film about it. Let's move me from just watching it to actually wanting it in my possession right so I'm going to talk about some new features. Some improved features or features that have been around but now combined with the new stuff makes this a compelling camera to have already so that is going to be the angle of today's show. Now I'm also going to cover a few Complaints I have about the camera or things that I would like to be improved or added on in future additions and we know that Fuji Film. Really likes this project. We know this because of the way they have lovingly moved it from generation to generation carefully choosing the improvements that they make with each iteration. So we know that the V. is not the end of the line for this camera by any imagination. But I do think it is a camera now for many of us to at least consider for well what type of photography first of all travel great travel camera street. Photography would be the second area creative photography and I definitely think that this is one of the more creative cameras that I have shot with and recent history and then family photography a camera to have around for your family events your family life all that kind of stuff and because now thanks to its Bluetooth. Four point two. It really does. Interact very seamlessly with your smartphone. I'm using an iphone ten in my case and is beautiful. Talk more about that As I get in to the features themselves so here we are. We're talking about the X ONE HUNDRED V. That was just announced a while back and we'll start shipping. I think in about a week or so. I think it's going to be you know hitting the shelves as they say here very very thin all right. So let's see if this camera is more interesting to you if you don't already have one or if you're really excited about upgrading if you do have one okay. Let's dig into all of that. The first thing I have to start with of course is the hybrid viewfinder. Because there's really unlike anything else that I've shot with. And what does that mean? Well it means you get the best of both worlds. You've probably heard me talk about in other shows how I still like to shoot with. Dss Lars because I really like a good optical viewfinder. There's nothing like just looking through glass. Really Nice glass at the world. The X one hundred V as does previous versions of this camera gives you both and you have a little lever on the front of the camera and so you can look through the optical viewfinder which isn't just any optical viewfinder has he's really nice magical overlays that show you frame lines Show you aperture and shutter speed you know show you all sorts of information and you get the optical viewfinder experience you move the lever and then you get an electronic viewfinder now one of the upgrades. Us happened with the V. I'm just going to call it the V. Now most of the time is that now. We have a three point. Six nine million Dot Ole L. E. D. electronic viewfinder versus the two point. Three six dot million that we had in the previous ones so they've really upped their game. Now they have a refresh rate of for this electronic viewfinder of one hundred frames per second already. So you get both of these things and for people like me. Who like both? This is a real treat not having to choose okay today. I'm going to grab this camera with the optical viewfinder today. I'm going to grab this camera with electronic viewfinder. I get to have both and over the time that I've been shooting with this camera. I have used both and what I like to do. Generally speaking is I start out with the optical viewfinder just you know for framing and composing all that it's it's really so nice and then I'll switch to the electronic viewfinder Before I make my final exposure if I have time to do this and just sort of check exposure compensation color in that kind of stuff. I love having both in just one of the features of this camera that has always impressed me in has gotten even better with the V. The second thing. Oh my gosh they finally did a tilting touchscreen so right now we have a three inch one point six two million dot LCD touchscreen. That is the up and down kind. Okay so you know is really nice of for flipping upwards so that you can put the camera down to your feet or at a very low angle and look right into the viewfinder but it also tells the other way so that you can hold it over your head and shoot that way and still see the electronic viewfinder in what a lovely viewfinder it is by the way that one point six two million dots. It creates a gorgeous picture. It's a very easy to compose on it when you do want to compose out so you have not only the hybrid viewfinder that we were just talking about but you can also compose on the viewfinder itself and that's where the tilting. Lcd just comes in very handy innocent touchscreen to boot so that is a major upgrade. That is something that I know. I have been waiting for through all the ITERATIONS and when I'm out in the world which is what this cameras designed for. I need that. Lcd to tilt. They've added it. They've redesigned the twenty three millimeter. F to land as now you see a little series two. That's engraved on the edge of it and this is kind of important thing. They had not a redesigned. The lands drain all the previous iterations. It's always been a very good lands in in Fuji. Makes fantastic. Lenses has always been a very good land although it's been a little Soft on the coroner's wide open I think if you had a beef with it that would be at. This land is really terrific. As eight elements in six groups in the revised design includes two spherical elements and it really does improve the sharpness and clarity especially when shooting wide open. Which let's face it. A lot of us are shooting wide open whenever we can get away with it right additionally they added a super EBC coding to suppress Lens Flare and ghosting for greater control and Color Fidelity and the color is absolutely great with this camera. So it's a sharp lens it performs well throughout the whole range from close to infinity now and a really nice thing about it. Is that all of the current accessories from the previous models for the lands. You know the the filter adaptor ring the Lens Hood. You know all that kind of stuff. Oh Oh the the the converters to right. You have a wide angle converter. Telly convert they all work on the new lands so I really appreciate them doing that. This next one. I have not seen a whole lot a written about it but boy when you're using it At least for me. It's a big deal and they updated the Bluetooth Version of four point two now and it has real time. The camera has realtime. Gps tagging that actually works actually works so this is something that I've been teased with on other cameras. Ended has worked. Kinda spotty to say the best and what I really have wanted is a camera that when I turn on the Bluetooth and I have the settings set up the way that I want which is for it to communicate with my iphone. That's constantly monitoring where I am For better for worse right but as monitoring where I am. I want that information to go on the pictures that I'm taking with the camera and what I've had before is that sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't or took a long time to come on or all these sort of things.

"For this week. I thought I would pick Jonas grasp as photographer of the week. Many of you may know Jonas as one of the famous Fuji Film expert Doger's and yes. His work is very well known to all of us and the FUJIFILM ecosystem or first of all he shoots most of the product images for Fuji Film. For all their launch events so he has early access to all the cameras. Yes I am very jealous but more than that. Jonas is a very talented photographer. Not every dog of her has the ability. The skill sets to be able to shoot product shots as he does very well for Fuji Film. But as well as really interesting street photography portraiture work and wedding photography and much like me. Jonas is also very avid film. Photographer is a nice collection of film. Cameras including is very unique Fuji. Film T X one which I struggled saying because T- X one x t one very similar but also known as possible at X. Pan which was really reliable for the West world but really is originally the foam t x one. Now one thing. Jonas that makes them quite unique is that he considers himself and enthusiasts photographer. And why is that well? Because he doesn't make a living as a photographer so what's his day job then. Well he's a medical doctor a general practitioner our GP so what an interesting guy photographer photographer wedding photographer and a medical doctor. Fujifilm X-T4 Launch, DPReview Analogue Forum and Jonas Rask

"Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of caucus take which is my take on photography news this week. So let's begin now. It seems twenty. Twenty is all about flagship. Cameras and Fuji. Film Wasn't going to be left out so they just announced their brand new flagship hybrid. Murless camera the new x t four for those of you who might not be acquainted with the term. Hybrid Camera. It's basically a digital camera that can do both stills and video equally well and for years the top two camera lines has been the Panasonic G H series and the Sony a seven series but Fujifilm challenged their market dominance back in September of twenty eighteen by launching the now famous x t three for shooters the XY. Three was groundbreaking terms of the features. It offered seriously offers as well as still shooters but the one thing that was missing. And what the competition had already at that? Time was in body image stabilization. Well no more. The main feature of the brand new x t four is the addition of the older exit ones ibis mechanism updated of course and matched to Fujifilm's latest and greatest sensor and processor combination. It's important to note. The X T three also has the same sensor and processor combination so the image quality south dean the x t three and the X X T. Four won't be the same between these cameras but the difference is of course again. The addition of ibis but as well. There's a brand new three hundred thousand actuation shutter mechanism with magnetic springs to dampen and quite the entire shooting experience as well a brand new seven represent more capacity battery system any turbo charged firmer update. That frankly does circles around the firmer of the x t three which again shares the exact same processor as the x t four so look for a upcoming future firmer update I hope the launch price of seven hundred dollars of the four is well in line with the competition regardless of the sensor size. But what differentiates these various cameras between Fuji Film? Sony and Panasonic is the availability of excess series which includes third party cinematic lenses for which Sony and Panasonic have a much larger ecosystem of third party support however many still feel including myself. That Fuji Film Has the Best Balance of sensor size native Lens Selection and firmware. That gives equal weight to both stills and video shooters over the competition as many of you know. I work closely with Fuji Film Canada and was given an early pre-production copy to test before launch. I'll leave links in the show notes to my article on Fuji Lab as well as I do channel on my first impressions on this camera. But if you don't WanNa go there I'll just let you know my overall thoughts on the camera. So far is very positive. I mentioned this in both my video and article that this camera is what the original x h one should have been back in twenty. Eighteen Fuji Film was too anxious to release the camera the X. H. One and decided to use the aging process or pro which was the third iteration of their processor instead of waiting for the upcoming x processor for that was eventually launched. The xt three just seven months later if film decided to wait until September of two thousand eighteen to have launched the H. One at the same time as the x t three one with ibis and the one without that four hundred dollar launch priced her friends the H. One being launched in nineteen hundred dollars. Us Back in two thousand eighteen and the fifteen hundred dollar price point for the t three back in September two thousand eighteen. That difference would've made a lot more sense and I believe that the X. H. One would have become the hybrid camera choice back then right until now either way better late than ever and the exit. Three has already been an award-winning winning camera. Even without ibis. So it's not like it was a failed camera. The x three is still great. In fact there's a decent deal on the x t right now so if I this isn't your thing or you have a decent collection of stabilized lenses already. Then I would seriously consider picking up an X. T. three right now while supplies last

"Hello my photographic France. How are you I was planning to talk about something totally different today Especially that the topic of today's podcast is not an easy one and I have to admit that I have been struggling and thinking very very carefully whether to talk about this or not about three days ago hours very close to my decision to pass on the subject and just move on with my life. I knew that whatever I say it would get in trouble but thinks has changed in the last three three days and I decided to do it. I think I have to. If you haven't guessed just the word we'll do want to talk about today here. That's okay but let me give you a short review a recap for those of you. Who are living under the Rock Fuji Film Released Brand New Camera Iteration of their x one hundred line there x one hundred v Calmer is is a truly truly great product In fact I have to say. That's my favorite camera for street. Photography and full learning photography. In general I highly recommend it and as with every release release. There were number of X.. Photographers who promoted the camera with the videos. And one of them out was taught sewer Suzuki. I hope I'm pronouncing the name right. So Mr Suzuki is a street photographer from Japan and the video In this video he's shooting on the street in what you can call role. I guess aggressive way as Sword of Bruce Guild in the way. I'm sure what you you know what I'm talking about. Of course. Many people took offense in this a med thought. And did you do some strong. Very strong comments Fuji Comb decided to take this video down. Well what happened next. We all know it before four. I continue I have to mention something about Fujifilm. I'm not an ex photographer. rougher and I have never been paid by Jill having said that yes I have the great along standing professional relationship with Fuji as well as with other calmer companies because I often test the gear and they loved shooting with the gear and I know some people in the food universe. I have many X. photographer France Lance and I have to say I have tremendous respect for the Fuji Film Team for the Passion and drive to create this great great products. We are using but going back to them. Mr Suzuki case I think that Fujifilm Fujifilm had the right to pull out this video. Whether it was a good decision or not I don't know I don't yeah no all the Fox Pearl bubbly. I would handle disgrace slightly differently but again I don't know oh all the details so I'm not here to judge this decision and all Nestle I. I don't think there is any great solution here. It's really hard to be a winner in this situation but this is is not what I want to talk about it today. I want to talk about what happened and is still pill happening after the video was pull out I a few words about Mr Suzuki. Uh someone who who should street photography and teach it. I have to say that. I'm not a fan of his medals. I wouldn't feel comfortable shooting this way Nado and I would never teach my students to you to do the street. Photography the way Mr Suzuki Dos Yes I guess I have to be honest list with you. That his methods cross my personal line. But the seemed time I'm not here to condemn him. So I really want you to know that. Okay I'm not here to condemn him two days after the scandal so if I can call it this way erupted. I want to his website and I found some of his images to be truly really spectacular or Abreu skilled would say you can smell the street in them. There is no question that whatever ver- waste Mr Suzuki's using to create his imagery. It works.

Ricoh Unveils 'Ultra-Rugged' WG-70 Compact Camera

"There's been lots of discussions about the death of the point in his shoot and I've always said and I've written articles on this as well as you do. Videos that other than the higher higher end cameras such as the recently announced Fujifilm x one hundred. v Sony Rx one hundred line and the line is higher end cameras is and they will always exist even a like a cue to a certain extent but that the lower end morton shoots the only ones that will survive or the specialty cameras such as action in camps like Gopro rose three sixty cameras and rugged waterproof cameras and as predicted Rico just announced their latest update to their WG raggedly camera lineup the new WG seventy and. I had said that this camera will survive. Now it's not a huge update much of it being internal in terms of processing housing and things like that but the specs stole very impressive now. It's rugged underwater camera and it's a macro camera so they almost sort of sell it as a my my underwater microscope and it has a decent sixteen megapixel one over two point three inch sensor which is very similar to what you would find on some of the higher end smartphones owns with a solid twenty eight to one hundred and forty millimeter equivalent. Zoom Lens and with the two flashes one including kind of wraps around the Lens it south. That's probably for the macro mode. But that's not why you're buying this cameron you're buying because it's waterproof down to fourteen meters or forty six feet shock proof from from false up to one point six meters or five feet freeze proof down to minus sixty degrees and pressure proof up to one hundred kilogram force or killer law pounds and so this cameras. That bit of an anomaly You know having all these re powerful rugged you can think of. Construction sites can think of divers income the utilities kind of a government. Sort of thing where you're doing serving but it also has very weird consumer like features like it has a selfie assist mode a smile captured mode and this is a really weird one a face shrinking mo and I seriously think this is an Asian thing as why would anyone want to shrink their face and also has a time lapse Moan would actually is pretty useful now either way. This is a two hundred two hundred eighty eighty dollar. US Priced cameras reasoning price for all the things that it can do in all the rugged features that are built into it and I'm really glad that dedicated and and especially point and shoots are still around like this camera

Predictions for 2020...and 2019's Hits and Misses

"I'm your host Sharkey James. Let's hit it in every year. At this time we get to look back at my predictions. Compare them to reality. NC just how much of an idiot I am or not. I think I've had a pretty decent track record overall. I mean. Check each year's predictions episode. Like this one. You're listening to now and see how I did. It's crazy a number of months ago. Our good friend Francisco Joe Hernandez a Sony collective member and one of the best people I've ever known he really is went back and started listening to my old show. That was the Lens Shark Photography podcast from five years ago. Now that was before I rebranded with Pixel eight months in doing that show and he was surprised with with what actually came true that I had predicted along the way when I launched that show back in December of two thousand fourteen. I had been in a photography for thirty years or so including my time as a photojournalist but wasn't involved in the industry. Nowhere near like today not even close. It was just one man's opinion based on observation observation and a whole lot a real world shooting heck at my last full time position as a staff photo journalist. I shot a little over fifteen hundred assignments in the five years and three months. That was at that newspaper. But who's keeping track all right light room. Light Room keeps track now for the kids out there. A newspaper is is kind of like a blog but on dead trees one of those. Get your hands all dirty anyhow. That's obviously fifteen hundred plus times that I took the camera camera out to shoot over fifteen hundred times I had to at least make one decision about exposure composition etc.. Actually it. There's a bunch of decisions. pull the camera out of the bag enough times like that and just like anything else. You get a really good idea what works what doesn't what you I'd like to see change at Cetera that plus being opinionated and never being at a loss for words and boom you apparently have what it takes to be a podcast or imagine how proud my wife is or late. Husband was a dentist and now she's married to a podcast. It happens and went off on a little tangent there but a listen like Francisco did check those old episodes out and you're gonNA hear some predictions that people absolutely just excoriated me on and the biggest one having to do with murless being the future all man I got so many darn messages about that. Well here we are now in the actual future well from then now. It's a future from a second ago. It's crazy doesn't stop and murless. Sales are killing it. Sony is number two in sales overall without. DSR's remember and the world is a different place to say the least so much has changed anyhow. Checking being last year's predictions episode here are my hits and misses my first prediction. was that both Canon. Nikon would drop a bunch of bodies on us an Dan Lenses as well and well. That's subjective. Of course I really hedge. Now they're deny anyhow on that can incited things up until this point in in early January. Two Thousand Twenty. The company is only released. The Thirty Point Three Megapixel and Twenty six point three Megapixel Eos Arpey Eh. Along with the modified IOS are a thirty point. Three megapixel IOS Ra. That's their astro photography model Nice but not earth earth-shattering bodies you know. It's only been a year after all so my prediction for can and is both the are and the R.. P. Will Get revved AKA mark two versions in their case because they like Nikon our interest that catch up with Sony full frame. They have to it's critical also. I think we're going to see just one obviously pro model from them and at least one crop body I'd bet onto so okay. Let's say to ravs one flagship. Pro Model and into crop bodies. That's my prediction now. As for Canon Lenses they're currently at ten R F Mount Lenses and that was their sole focus in two thousand nineteen nineteen remember. That's all they made. And by the end of twenty twenty cannon. I think is going to be at double that so let's call it. Twenty R F lenses by December. Thirty first of twenty twenty craziness because if you think about it by then they're only going to be a little over two years into making full frame Miras. Liz bodies as well as lenses and they're absolutely great lines as the latest and greatest technology. So they're hitting it out of the park with that also also there lens lineup makes a whole lot more sense. I mean they're hitting all the staples while Nikon screws around with that pointless fifty eight millimeter the F. Zero point nine five knocked a great lands but one nobody wanted and it certainly not a lens that you would create before you have. Oh I don't no no a seventy two two hundred to eight but that appears to be changing soon and we're going to hear about that next episode now as for Nikon when I had made that prediction on December thirty first of twenty eighteen that company had already released at Z.. Seventy six full frame bodies a year later and we have yet to see. Either of those revved let alone or is it either one of the to let alone a new full frame body tomato tomato. That's just sad. You know if you look back at how Sony did things. They cranked out new bodies like there was no time to waste and Canon and Nikon aren't exactly playing with the same playbook. You know Sony had to do that so they could close the gap with cannon and Nikon's DSL ours. Nikon needs the catch a clue and do it. They did because Sony has lapped them so when he's at number two now so my prediction for Nikon as it relates to bodies is that we're GONNA see the mark two versions so both of those bodies the Z.. Seven Z six and. I'm hoping to see two more full frame bodies out of them but hope is not a prediction. So I'm going to be Optimist though and say Nikon having now slipped a third place in overall camera sales. That's not good so seeing the writing on the wall about about sales they're gonNA come out with two new full frame bodies and one crop along with the revs of that Z.. Seventy six to now this past October is you know. The company unveiled its first crop sensor merely Z Z. Fifty and while we won't likely see that one rev because it's too new. Oh I think at most. We're GONNA see another crop body like I said in twenty twenty. They don't seem like they're going to be knocking them out. Here's the thing though. If you're a consumer boomer who's thinking about getting Amir list's chances. Are you want those less expensive crop bodies they have just one and if my predictions correct I'll have two. They really need a whole line of them now. Also in twenty twenty. I think we're GONNA see Nikon sales slip further as people have look at full frame and in crop and decide and really realize that Sony and Fujifilm are literally years ahead in full frame and crop respectively actively or respectfully if you say incorrectly which you should not after all if you know you wanna go meritless and you want native lenses and you're likely likely selling off your kit so if you're starting fresh why jump into assist That's so far behind. You might as well just wait at that point. So Oh I think Nikon further loses sales to Sony and Fujifilm while others see that Canon clearly has the better plan and that sad to say but I see darkest days ahead for Nikon. Unfortunately camera sales in general are way down. industry-wide and Nikon is ridiculously far behind. Maybe they should listen to my show back in two thousand fifteen but nope they did not and you remember a couple years back or so. When they said that they're merely system was going to raise the bar wins? That can happen just

"It's startling. I could always spot his pictures when I see them a great and Fuji has a latte to enter that the length he with the camera that would you film thirty five to? It's a. Very sharp, Lance. And I think if plays a key role, just often contrast on the the photos that coming out of that family. Did you have any issues or concerns with going back to an a PSE size sensor? Because I shot the the Nikon, seven thousand first so long. It's a a. I was happy with a PSE all for most thins. And I think the full frame sensor is more of a low light shooting for if I need to shoot event or something in the evening, I'd probably may reach for that one. Whereas with Apia, see the quality's come along way for. So it's really hard to tell the difference on the daytime shots. I definitely have a lot to learn on the Amur because I'd never used a Fiji film before. It's definitely a learning curve. How's the menu? The menu you will you menus Ona's Nikon canon. How how do you like the menu? Fuji? It's it's a bit rough starting out on with their menu, things that they just dump everything in a row and Emerson thing sitting where would think the look for him. So still getting to to know the system for whatever it's worth we'd have this. We've heard the same comments with other brand cameras to amongst ourselves. How long have you been listening to a podcast? I started listening to it about a year ago and then binged through as many episodes. Good. Do any particular episode standout to you first, let's make sure he's telling the truth. Are you or have you. Totally find. It's nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with that. There were a couple of I really liked when we're the the wildfire wildfire photographer talking about going into force fires, getting shots. I thought that was really awful. I remember my first question was, are you crazy. Anyway, a Bryant pleasure talking to you. Congrats on the camera. And by the way, if you're if you're ever in the New York area, please stop by and say, hi, we'd love to meet you in person. Okay. So that was Brian and they lean those who are winners of the Fujifilm's sweepstakes we're gonna take a short break, and when we come back, we're going to be speaking with the winners of our cannon sweepstakes that took place back in the beginning of this year. Stay tuned. We hope you're enjoying this edition of the photography podcast. Send us a tweet at VH photo, video Pash tag h photo podcast. Okay. We have Hillary dunning on the line. Hillary won the cannon ADD and a fifty millimeter lens back in January. Hey, doing Hillary. I'm doing great. How are you guys today? Not too bad. Not too bad. We will not complain. So how's your camera coming along? Oh my gosh. I love it. I love the the canon and the fifty millimeter lens that actually is probably my favorite lens to shoot with on right now. What will you shooting with beforehand? If I may ask, I was shooting with a Nikon one j five prior to that, okay. Yeah, this is a big step up and then he made waste for sure. That's definitely it was totally was. It is like elevated everything in. It's just been awesome since then. So thank you again for the camera sweepstakes with the beach photo podcast. Our pleasure. So specifically, how has your I changed? How has your shooting app? It's changed if if you noticed any changes, I'm assuming you have. I have noticed a change..

"We're going to be hauling the winners of the bean h photography podcast, Fujifilm x h one sweepstakes. We're gonna find out who Al win is are what kind of photography they enjoy shooting and what they think of their new Fuji film gear. In the second half a show, we're going to be following up with Hillary dunning and Tim couch, they are the winners of our cannon five d Mark for a sweepstakes which we held back in January of two thousand eighteen. We're going to find out how they're doing how many Pulitzer prizes and how many world press photography awards they've racked up since winning their cannon gear. But seriously, we're going to talk about. What they've done with their cameras, how their nuclear has helped them maybe change their perspective and hopefully improve their imaging before proceed. I just want to turn the mic over to John who's going to give us some comments and thoughts about the Fuji film sweepstakes that just completed. Okay. Thanks l. him. Yeah, before we get to the winners and it's going to take a moment to thank all of our listeners, the new ones, of course, the old ones, everyone will enter the sweepstakes who left a comment or mentioned the favorite episodes on Facebook. It's something that we really appreciate and the engagement and the feedback is important. We've read almost every comment I think, and and we really soak it in, especially when it comes to favorite episodes, which for me was was a big surprise to see what variety you know of your off. It's all over the place. Yeah, from old wants a new ones theory gear, you know, profiles of photographers, the whole thing. So we really like that a few of the stats that came out of the. Fujifilm's sweepstakes over twenty eight thousand people engaged with the sweepstakes through any of the social media outlets Facebook, we received eight hundred and twenty-five comments. There's too many kind of list, but an unscientific study indicates that many of the favorites were two is are better than one St. photography. Why do you love photography a new episode? The Greg, Constantine episode, he's a photojournalist working on stateless people and the Norman rita's episode still is a favourite and the Stephen Wilkes episode seem to get a lot of mentioned. So check things. One of our favorites also keep coming back to when we we're at one hundred thirty seven episodes. So we kind of forget some of the ones we've done. But there are a lot of pretty good. Nice to see that when people talk about their favorite episodes, it really is as broad as we try to keep the show. Absolutely, you know. So I guess we're touching.

"Eighteen fifty five millimeter f two point. Eight to four are LM oh, I s alphabet soup of lens. I tell you if you don't care about full frame or you're just disappointing with cannon Nikon's first shot at full frame earless they x t three or even my x t two, which I shall always love. Even if I sell, it would be great options. No doubt about it. You know, Fujifilm users, myself included are ridiculously happy for reason. It's right there in the sweet spot for a lot of people. You know if you need full frame mere list, though Sony is still the way to go in my opinion that as seven Mark three is amazing and it's like two thousand bucks. That's crazy. You know, it's really hard to argue. Against all the available bodies and lenses that Sony now has canon and Nikon, and we're talking natively, not yet. It's gonna take years to get there, but they will. In the meantime, you've got options and options are good. So well, I actually get an XT three. I don't know. I may. It's a compelling body, but you know what is a compelling enough for me to upgrade to? We'll see. I mean, hack I've got the Nikon d, eight fifty, and I've also got my d five hundred that I still need to sell, so I don't really need a new camera. Do I? I know famous last words next. Now while Nikon recently announced they're merely z. seven z six bodies. The company is still at least for now committed to producing DSL ours and they've just released the body that they're saying is the company's lightest and friendliest ES lar- that they've ever made friendly assay unless it says Holo and ask you how you're doing when you turn it on on about that. That doesn't seem very friendly, perhaps appealing to those who wanna lighter camera. That's not merely because they don't want Murless for some reason. Nikon's new deep thirty, five hundred which is nearly identical on the inside as the thirty. Four hundred is definitely lighter. Not that anyone's going to refer to the deep thirty, four hundred as heavy, but still the market is leaning towards smaller lighter cameras these days, and this one is lighter coming in ten percent lighter. In fact, they manage the shave off forty five grams from the thirty four hundred now just like the camera that replaces it has a twenty four point two megapixel DX format Seema's. Crop sensor inexpedient processor, five frames per second, continuous shooting. And I s o range of one hundred twenty five thousand six hundred and eleven point autofocus system and in camera guide mode for beginners, which I it's there. It helps effects modes for creative styles a pop up flash which you should never use unless you want really garish looking photos, get a real flash full HD also known as ten eighty p sixty frames per second video, snap bridge bluetooth connectivity, which still kinda sucks and a three inch, nine hundred twenty one thousand dot LCD round back. That's right. I said round back like the tractor now. Physically the cameras a bit nicer looking actually a lot nicer look in with what peers to be a better grip and a lower profile mode dial and like the new z. bodies. They've removed those buttons that ran along the left side of the LCD and place them in a configuration. That's pretty darn similar to the z. bodies. Perhaps an indication that they're trying to nudge people along. Get people used to that and eventually get into the z. system. And honestly, the back of this body is a great improvement over the thirty. Four hundred is way nicer looking those lower embodies from Nikon. Now, I think are going to be jazzed up. So they look more like the companies better bodies. The ones you're going to aspire to which are currently Diaz LARs and next couple years are going to be there merely ZBC's. Now, in addition to the admittedly better looks can now get fifteen hundred and fifty shots per battery. That's great up twenty nine percent from the twelve hundred minutes predecessor and of all this craziness. Nikon. EDP j. Vannatter says, quote the night kind thirty. Five hundred is ideal for consumers who are looking to easily.

"Hundred dollars with a circular polarized her. So overall, like Nikon's new offerings. This is without a doubt, a very nice camera, no doubt about it. You know, they all could have been beefed up though. Right? They've got Sony any others that compete with after all. It's late twenty eighteen and they're coming out with cameras from like twenty sixteen in my opinion. This new camera just like Nikon's is aimed at their current customers. I just can't imagine anyone who shooting Sony right now who's gonna make the jump to canon or Nikon Murless. I mean, why. Would you that is highly unlikely maybe in a few years, but not now. So we've now got the canon Eos are. They were rumored to have two bodies they are working on. We haven't seen the second one yet, so maybe we'll see that photo kina or maybe we'll see that in a few months from now, who knows that second body by the way is rumored to be more pro level body that's going to compete with like the Sony as seven are Mark three, and that makes this use are a direct competitor, the Nikon's e six and the Sony as seven, Mark three. And as we know that a seven, Mark three smokes both of those Nikon's and this does are as well, sad, but true. We were hoping for better. It's going to take a while. So if you were starting today of those three cameras, the z six z seven NS e o Sar and you didn't have any lenses, I'd say hands down getting a seven, Mark three. You've just getting so much more camera. You've got all those available lenses right now. You can jump into the system. And you're good to go or if you're cool that a crop sensor camera like the new Fujifilm x t three, which I'll tell you about a little bit would be an excellent choice. Listen, this new EEO Sar is definitely more appealing than either of those Nikon bodies. But when the Mark two's come out next year or maybe a little bit longer expect them to be evened out a lot more but who knows how far so he will be by that point. Oh, and I think they'll have to card slots. I said that before though, but we'll see a better they're losing out on sales. Come on next. Last time it was Nikon this time cannon, you know, there's so so much the, no, right. But let's take a little bit of a deep breath air because it's time.

"And when I'm get that shot. I'm done. I do for sure. No, that's the shot I want to come back to in post. Like that's the first one first thing that I go to, but I usually know in the field when I get something, but for so much of my processes after the fact I love host and I love digging in Photoshop and stuff. So really it's almost like a rekindling when I get to actually look at the, you know, the photo a computer. And. His is the what. What's the final product for you that that image that you've been worked on on your computer, you've edited, you've corrected it and it's ready or d- then take it to print and there's your final product? I've been doing a lot more printing now. Definitely still kind of working at that to to make that a more normal, normal part of my process. But usually for me, Instagram, like social media's usually the place where it it lives the most. But for me, there's always that one special photo from each excursion where I know like that's going up on the wall or that's going in my office or something. And do this is kind of a maybe nuts and bolts question about being a Fujifilm expediter for, but do you have a requirement that you that you know that the work that you submit or the work that you make public has to be shot with Fuji film, or is there anything along those lines. Oh, there's never been anything said, no. I mean, I know I know a lot of like ally Cardi for instance, you know, he at least in the years. I don't know what he's doing right now. But I mean in the years past, he had certain things that he would use Nikon for certain things you've used. You know, Fujifilm gear for for me, it was the switch like the full switch from Canada, Fuji film, four years ago now kind of marks a milestone in my career where I really just kind of tailored my career to the things that I wanted to do, which was like that commercial lifestyle landscapes order career path. And so it was like, I just don't really use anything else. I do shoot film from from time to time, but huge films really. The only gear that I that I have in us. And so that relationship doesn't really demand much specifically in terms of what you know what you what you produce or what you what you show? No, I don't think so. I mean. They're, they're really amazing to work with in the sense that it's they're very few guidelines. You know, if if there's something that they're particularly meeting, they'll be sure to voice that like we need some lifestyle photos of the h. one or this new camera or something like that. So they need something, they'll reach out and more or less. It's just me, you know, doing what I do. Something I wanted to ask you about you are you you've used the Cambo Actes many, which is a device that goes between the camera body and lens. It is essentially a view camera a taken down. You can with a bellows in front and rear standard that enables you to do a perspective control, and a lot of other corrections that you cannot do in camera with a with most of the cameras and you shot film as well. Should I assume that if you're anxious to try a Cambo Actes many that you've shot with view cameras? I have not actually, no. Okay. It was really interesting when when Cambo reached out to me, I, I'd actually seen the actors somewhere somebody posted on Twitter or something in. It was really interesting too because I never had that experience with view camera before. I do have a couple of friends that still do like ten type stuff. So I'm familiar with it like I have always, you know, understand the concept than how it works, but I was really anxious to get my hands on that and see how this kind of hybrid system worked together is what it can do. The act as many is a specifically designed for for Murless or for film, or is there or thirty five millimeters, correct. It's for any DSL or I'm pretty sure I'm I know it's definitely like they have some Sony mount stuff. They have the huge amount stuff. They have a lot of that you even have it for the effects now says them..

"Well these are great fujifilm's making some excellent uh cameras these days uh this is in a psc might cut a a sensor um were getting a fabric no what they you know what they did they they said before i bought one i look i look this up and uh fuji film eliminated the anti alia thing filter oh interesting theoretically your picture is much better than these riots centered normally get that's right so that's a feature some of the end cameras restore an offer to there the problem of course is if you if you eliminate that filter you can get more ray yang of weird effect on very fine long outs what what could you film did was rearranged to pick hold on their sensors so that doesn't happen nice i don't know how that works but i mean that's what he's it it's supposed to be well marae is not a huge problem i think having uh getting rid of that extra haibin filter really helps in terms of of the clarity the image so lot of france's the nikon d eight ten you could get it with or without the filter depending on which you cared the most about yeah that's good you know we're make we're making such progress at this point uh if you're really getting a modern a cameras especially if you get an interchangeable lens camera like this fuji you're getting such sophisticated technology and that's why i think voice can't be too far off that's a naturally yeah is probably right yeah i i love it did that as as it that what's happening especially in fuji might have been one of the companies that really started this fuji and um olympus there these are the almost look old fashioned because the knobs on dials they look like the old kinda and i loved that they really have a nice retro feel to them do camera hey thank you appreciated dill i have one more request will hang on the line because i have one request from our advertisers to take a break but if you'll hang on bail i will uh i will get back to you uh right after this word from our sponsors lille the ports the tech guy.
