"I was like, shook all day Friday, obviously. And didn't really want to leave my house. Did anyone want to leave the hotel? So that was. And the crowds were good. It was nice to actually just talk to somebody because I was so fucked up over it. But one lady was on her phone the whole time. And I'm like, are you okay? He's not coming. First, you know, the Coke's on Twitter, whatever it was. And then she's like, I'm talking to my kid. And I'm like, oh, okay, but it was like 25 minutes. She's been texting. Yeah, yeah. So I was like, is there an amber alert for your kid? And she looks up, she's like, you talk shit about my child and I'm just like, oh God. Here we go. And go to the bar. So then I'm trying to make it funny because I don't want to talk about her. She's obviously mad. But I'm like, is this your date? And there's like this huge black dude. This is a white woman. And she's like, no, I'm like, sir, it's time to pay house. So then he was like, good luck it out. So that was cool. And then she was laughing. And then she gave me a standing ovation. It was just like, one of those crazy, but that was, and then people started talking to me, I was on stage. People were just, they would come and just start talking. Like literally just like telling me about their one lady. I will say, though, on the one hand, you want to be like, this is where we're at now, you know, but on the other hand, this is where you've always been at. There's something about you, I don't know what it is. But they just feel like they can, they can just start talking to you. I don't know. I don't get that nearly as often as you've gotten it in your career. Maybe I don't do as many road shows as you, and that's what it is, but I don't seem to run into that when I'm on the road nearly I've been hearing this from you for years. I'm like, you got to have nobody to talk to and you're like, oh, there's a comic in town. I'll just go talk to him. I mean, one lady sat in the front, she kept saying, what? Watch the guy have bad hearing, and I had to explain the joke to her. Like, after doing the joke, and then she was like, why is that funny? And I had people in the crowd telling her why the joke was funny. Like during the show. So this was. But people were dying laughing at that. So that was cool. And then where's mccorkle, man? I don't know where she was. I think he just said something about ten minutes or something. Yeah, and Don Frye like goes to this. I don't know what happened to Don fry anymore. I hope he's okay. He is. He's doing his podcast. So he has just go see us, okay..

"Of podcasts, meet Adam, hunter. I'm here with the legend Don Frye, Don, how are you, buddy? I'm okay. Everybody else fall away or they just quit the show. I know that Greg Wilson is flying right now. Sean mccorkle, we reschedule this week 6 times because of him. And now he's not here. That's just I mean, first it was you. You like Monday or Tuesday? Tuesday's better. And then, actually, I think he's coming. Hold on, I'm pretty sure he's coming. And then Shaun said he couldn't do it. And then Greg didn't get back to me. But we're here. I believe this is Sean McCarthy. John, how are you? Hanging in there. All right. Oh man, what happened to you yesterday? You drove two hours to the doctor to tell you that he couldn't help you? I mean, I keep going to these different doctors, ma'am. I've been to the guy before, he's a nice guy, but I mean that open. The. Guy I went through like heels really said talk to you, but I went through the same thing we talked about last time. Like, word for words, I'm gonna talk about 6 months ago, every my back history, everything, asking the same questions they asked before and stuff, telling me I did have microblading. I did have cortisone. And it was like I never knew that. You know what I mean? And then he was trying to talk me into a pain pump thing, which I don't want to do, but he said that's really my last option. But I don't know just what I said. I literally observed for two and a half hours and then left and he's like, yeah, I mean, other than that. There's not really a reason for me to see you. Anymore, and I'm like, alrighty. So, Donna, I talked about who helped set up your trip over there. He said he wants you to plug the doctor more. So okay. Which doctor, there's a bunch of doctors there. The one that got you to treat it. I don't know what I said. I want you to give him more shout outs on your show and on this show and on social media. So what's the guy's name?.

"Like some guy had three wives. I'm like, I go, is this a side effect of the booster shot? Like, what the fuck? You think vague? Okay, that was like one show. Another show this guy came up to me was like, let me tell you something. Did you sleep with one eye open? Yeah, pretty much, man. Pretty much. Greg, what were you saying? Shit's going down in Middle America, man. I mean, I grew up, Texas, you know, and shit's going down. That's why they go out there. So nobody, like, fuck all your rules. I'm gonna go out here and just live. That's what it's about. I dig it, man. I've been doing it. Live your life. That's just American as a gift right there, baby. That's what I said. I go, I go, at the end, I go talk to other people. And I'm like, hey man, look, as long as you're happy, I'm not a judge. And the guy goes, get in where you fit in. I go, well, I don't know. No, thank you. He goes vomit. Have to go bomb it really bad right now. They're then like, lady, after every one of my jokes kept going really, really? And I was like, are you single? She goes, yes, and I'm like, really? I just fucking got her. That was the end of her. Some other guy was like, blue hair, him and his girlfriend who's sister. His sister had like half black hair, half reds, like a walking mood ring. So then the guy came up to me after the show and he was like, can I talk to you for a second? And I'm like, yeah, he's like, first of all, it was one of those sets. It was $2 Thursdays, right? $2. Oh boy. And it was like 7 black women that just, if it was like a conversation, older black women, like they were just like, I would tell a joke. Oh, hell no. All right, that's what I'm saying. Man, that's just like fucking bull. I couldn't get three words out without like, so then I just started like, and then one guy laughed at every premise. He's like, oh, like before the punchline. You know, like, and then the punch out he wouldn't let it go. Maybe he was your writer. How are you doing? But then I did a joke about anybody here shave their vagina and now one lady's like, my vagina's perfect. And I'm like, oh, yeah, right. I go, prove it. She goes, come here and finger me, right? And then she kept yelling finger me after every third joke. I was like being like, have sexually assaulted, but it was kind of funny. It was just like. I'm like, do you like you? Yeah. Did you did you order some rubber gloves from the kitchen? Dude, there was a part of well, like performance art of like, but how do I explain my wife? I got kicked out of the comedy club. Why? Well, I figured. I figured it honest. Exactly. And part of the show. It was part of the show. So then the guy with blue hair comes up to me. He's like, can I talk to you? I'm like, sure, he's like, you know, I like your set, but there was a lot of racial jokes and you did a lot of crowd work. Too much crowd work. I wanted to hear more material. I'm like, I couldn't get through two words without people fucking yelling at me. I go, are you a comic? He's like, I do sketch. I'm like, you are sketch. Like leave me, get me the fuck out. I mean, you know, it is called the loony bear. I mean, sometimes, you know, it's like the same goes when someone tells you what they are, believe them. One woman got so drunk, right? They're in my set. 'cause this guy was making the strongest drinks ever. She took off her hat and threw up at her hat during the show. Oh, yeah. Hey, wait, you're blaming. But then she didn't get up. Yeah. But she held on her hat the whole time. And now, even while you fingered her. Come on, man. You know, I mean, if you're doing a bad set on up to it, man, but don't blame the dreams of the bartender. Dude, some other guy said that sucks so bad she puked her at and held on to it. 'cause that smelled better than his fucking act. Some other guy was with a girl. I'm like, where do you meet? He's like, she was a stripper, right? I go, oh, what was your pickup line when you met her? He goes, I gave you her $20. I go, and how long did it take you to banger? He goes, 20 more dollars. Come out with the 50. Then I'm doing my clothes there and I never like accidentally rip the microphone out of the yeah, yeah. So I actually ripped it out and I'm like, oh shit, I'm like, I'm like, miss, you've seen these before and I can't answer the story. It was just one thing after another. It was crazy. It was fun though. And so were you invited back? Yeah, hell yeah, dude. So that's what comes out. But that's what came out last night, right? Yeah, I saw that. Fighting jam, comedy. The UFC comedy jam, right? It's on UFC 5 pass. I'm super proud of it. It's wrong. Like holy shit, is it wrong? 'cause I'm like, oh, this joke's not gonna make it. This joke's not gonna make it. They just fucking left it. Oh, yeah. I'm like, great. So my wife's like, let's watch it special. I can't wait. My love. Oh no. That's the last night we get in bed together. I haven't seen my wife in four days. We're getting bad together. I have first broken is like, when I met my wife, I told her I was a sex addict. A year later told that she cured me. Like, that was like one. My wife's like, really? This is how we're fucking starting this right now. We actually did have. We ended up having sex last night. But it was like, during the joke, I go, you know, they have like, why do they have extends for men? They should be, what if it's the female in the backs? I've looked at me and goes, you must be so proud. He gave you an angry city pop there. Yeah, pretty much, man. I mean, look, I fucking get it where I can take a take it. You'll get in where you fit it. She got mad at me 'cause I went to Mexico. I went to over new year's. I went to Cabo, do the Cabo comedy show. And she's always married for not getting her gifts. She's like, you always get the baby gifts and not me. It's not easy to shop for a three year old and it is for, you know, a 31 year old. Just because whatever I get, she's not gonna wear anyway. So she's like, I'm not gonna be like, you should be aware. You know, like if I get something and she wears it by accident, you know, it's like you're talking about her jewelry. It's called jewelry, buddy. I know. Well, I tell you what, when Don Frye can see it and you can't oh boy. I got her these two little Mexicans. Salt and pepper. That looked like her grandparents. So she was mad about that. I got her this. I gotta this broom. So she could clean up and I got her this vacuum attachment. She's released. Jesus, you should have gift giving. I got her a necklace too, but she didn't like it. It was like, it was like a cheap. It was like a cheap or what? Yeah. But she wants to have a date night. Taco shells? Did you say taco shells? Could have got some oyster shelves or cotto shells. I guess you taco shells. I was a Mexican, baby. I got your necklace made of tacos. Yeah, baby. Put it on and put it on. Let's eat. But Don, where should I take her though? I date night. Any advice or should I check my wife? Yeah, someplace where you like to eat..

So please take it down, take it down. We'll put it on the court level. I gotta go. Apparently, I don't let mccorkle say what he thinks this is. Dude, are you sure that's supposed to actually? Joseph walk out, I'm like oh they fucked up. This guy, this guy thinks this is the first step back to the championship, he listened to suck what happened? He looked amazing. But this guy, you know what? I think maybe for getting what he's got. Going to look wage. Like what the hell? I mean take about turning back to the clock. I mean you know what's most surprising on the whole thing is I used to struggle badly to make 145 like really, really struggle and now with like 135 easy. I'm like you don't usually do better with age with that. I'm pretty sure he was forty-seven when he fought Conor McGregor. So I don't know how old he is now, but he was old then. So no absolutely looked like they do Photoshop his face on somebody else's body. Yeah, it was I mean although it looked amazing who knew, you know, I really my heart was here. Has Battle Royale killed the AAA shooter space?
"I wish i had the problem. You have to be honest with a really. There's no games for me to play like nothing. There's nothing there's such a. i don't know there's something going on in the game publisher space. And i can't put my finger on it and we've talked about this before but i feel like something is wrong. Yeah i don't know it's a lack of innovation. It's i don't know what it is. It's just sir. There's no there's nothing. I'm looking forward to that. You know i think you're a shooter and the triple eight shooter space. Let's be honest. that's why you like you like aaa shooter. Like it is curiously absent like empty like three or four years ago. They're like everybody was fighting for the aaa shooter. Frye but two things have happened. one is battery. Also of i think a lot of the development and so a lot of you know what would have been a simple. Shooter has gone into battle right and that may be gets the game play ships away from just running gone right here but i also think it's like there's a sense of stability in the category lake the winners one rate. You have call of duty. That's done super well on covered coming back. You have go. That has just always dominated. And now you're valor. And and i think there's a sense of publishers of do i really wanna launched into that you know. Could it be also william that like. I don't know how to how to explain this. But it's like when getting see joseph siege. Which is here four big ones. But here's the problem. That i think battle royale created it created fatigue around shooters and the problem is everyone did battle royale right as soon as as soon as fortnight had success everyone did battle royale. Everyone put resources into battle. Royale right and i think no one really anticipated is the inevitable fatigue around the genre like i at least with the people i play with. There's genuine fatigue around battle royal. No one wants to play battle royale anymore now. I don't know if that's too small a sample size. I don't know if that's a bit more indicative of the broad look every so often new content comes out for about a rail people play it. Try it right. But i think then it falls back i really do. And we'll i'd be surprised if some of the monthly active user numbers that we see published right are somewhat misleading as a consequence

So they're like blowing through all the red lights and like then and then like running from the cops cuz it's like I'm not fucking like so they're still pissed about that speaking of a guy who's not into obeying traffic signals or any kind of civilization Don Frye. "I know he's from Sweden now or something those Russian Jews are just built and made different and they are as Don Frye said the last real men. So I think he it's like I do agree with out of me if it will know once he gets in there if you put him with Leon Edwards or something like that. You'll know if he's real or not cuz he's going to take some shots against them. I like them. Sometimes a world-beater isn't like Brock Lesnar isn't so great when he's not the bullying, you know, like he folds when he's not the bully. Yeah, that's amazing when he is so like if you get with somebody can't bully then we'll really find out but so far man, he looks Head and Shoulders above everybody doing out when I was in Mongolia, gangis Khan. So he's on like all their money is Genghis Khan airport. He's still like the good old days like they love cuz he's a game. Basically, like him and his six guys took over all of you know, China China. Yeah. The other way. Yeah, I mean they they I mean well then his kids and grandkids, but he and they took me to the place where he like found his lasso that like had the magic lasso that took over and I guess he would pay him. He was being Wonder Woman he would beat you and then would join his gang wage would beat you and then they they take you out for dinner. He would like family and then that's how he got so so powerful because he would kick your ass then be like, hey come join our gang and it was crazy. And I I showed the Mongolians like here's what here by the way. Here's what we think of Genghis Khan and I showed him. What's that movie Bill and town wearing? No Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Okay. Remember when they gangis Khan goes into the mall and he says planning with the equipment at the sporting goods and he said it's like going crazy and they were laughing their asses off their birth. This is he was so happy that like it's so funny because the Americans are so hard like one of the Mongolia I had the best time ever to treat you like gold. It's nice to people the women are just drop dead gorgeous because according to them Genghis Khan kicked out all the ugly people and only kept in the hot girls. "Flake. Yeah, but that was my fault my fault. Why was it your fault? I got I got that. Hey, I'm the Greek Don Frye attitude, you know, don't worry about the work is hard. You know, I I won UFC a I want a tournament. I'd be tomorrow even test one of you know, greatest Jiu-Jitsu Fighters out there, you know, and I don't have to work as hard and then I woke up and I use stupid strategy that first fight against all you know, I should have known for his head. Now. What now? What's the controversy? You meet all four times? You kept beating the shit out of them. Now, he's claiming. He he got paid to lose like what is that? Bullet? What what happened there? Is this a guy who just bitter? Yeah, he's a fucking idiot slots. If you got paid to lose it wants to rain about right? I don't know paid him to lose jobs to lose. You know. Yeah, I mean you beat this guy four times. I mean, it's not like like free only three or three times got it felt like for now this dude Alexander. Romanov is going to be a problem for a lot of people they use his allegation where I was from the Ukraine something like that and he's amazing wrestler. He's like, he's twelve and O all his wins or just by stoppage. He's got great Greco-Roman wrestling. I mean he through this guy but this guy Road Martinez who they brought in did not look like he should be in the UFC might be the thickest fighter of old-time in the UFC. Well, he won his last two fights, right, but can you pull up Rogue Martinez? Cuz I did a little investigating on my own he won his last two fights in arise in one of them was against like Jerome Bauer. I think who was like forty nine years old when he fought on or like like he I don't know maybe the heavyweight division is thin and because of covetous birth Really thin and they wanted to make this other guy look like a star your own banners soccer boy. So we do that. He has a tough tough. Absolutely, but he's older though. I mean, he's I mean if you'd be like if you meet a guy who's like forty-four or forty-five years old, is that the same as being a guy when he's Thirty You know today it is because the technology and the advancement and training is is a lot better than it was thirty years ago, you know young people living easier, so it's not just life as hard on them and also that like I said in training the nutrition everything is completely different, you know, it's bulshit Hollywood pools sixties the new 40, you know, blah, you know, cuz the Hollywood actors don't want to get old and have to get the shit rolls, you know off but you know spiders spiders are different animals than they were thirty years ago. Yeah, no, maybe you're right. I mean maybe you're right. New video shows Minneapolis police arrest of George Floyd before death
"In Minneapolis fallout from the death of the man in police custody this week continues a video that went viral shows a police officer pressing his knee into the neck of a man the man was face down on the street handcuffed he repeatedly told the officer he could not breathe protesters gathered last night and then again today to demand that officers arrested the mayor is now calling for the same thing NPR Cheryl Corley is following that she's here now hi Cheryl hi just give us the latest catch us up on what has happened today well we know that the the four officers were all fired the mayor has weighed in on this is is you mention and set on the statement on Twitter that being black in America shouldn't be a death sentence we also know that the FBI is conducting a federal civil rights investigation the state police are conducting one as well and as we know that that arrest was captured on video and we know how that brought this whole issue of police use of force into the public consciousness and and many folks just say that this death was similar to the twenty fourteen death of Eric garner who also said he couldn't breathe when he was detained by police yeah we should just lay out clearly the man in question the man who died George Floyd is blocked the police officers need you see on his neck is white so that's the underlying dynamic here the family of George Floyd and we mentioned that the mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frye they are asking for criminal charges to be filed what do we know about that isn't likely well we've seen it happen in recent years we have seen police officers charged there was another case in Minnesota in twenty sixteen where an officer in the shooting death of Philando Casteel you may remember that one that was the school cafeteria supervisor of the officer was charged officer Janice he was acquitted in Chicago there was a police officer was found guilty of second degree murder in the shooting death of laquan McDonald that also raised a lot of protest across the country the video was really crucial Mary Louise in both those cases and it may be here to if any charges are filed I talked to Chuck Wexler the head of the police executive research forum that's an organization that works to develop best practices for police department and he said he's seen that video you really ask yourself why does that officer has continued to keep his his knee on the individual snack I mean it's just it's just excruciating to watch after he says he can't read and I will also want to point out that there are about a thousand the fatal police involved deaths every year and and few of those officers are charged but it does happen he mentioned the case of Eric garner and I'm also thinking of Michael brown in Ferguson in twenty fourteen those staffs did lead to reforms just remind us what happened there what what we might be watching for here well in both of those cases we solve the department of justice get involved in in Ferguson in particular there was a consent decree and the the city and the police department had to make several changes M. what happens in a lot of these cases is that the most significant policy and reform is all about the use of force and we've seen that in several departments in the first issue the first issue they take as they say you know you have to believe in the sanctity of life when we are dealing with these cases and then the second reform is that they asked officers to intervene and that there must be a duty to intervene so those are probably the two biggest reforms that have come out of these

All About Blacksmiths
"Our first expert is Philly. Barret goes enthused yourself toby. Toby my name is Billie Barrett. I am a blacksmith. Thank you. Let's meet our second expert. Linski Chris. He's introducing yourself to toby toby. I'm Chris Ski and I am an artisan and a welder. And I am a reenactor of a female blacksmith at Colonial Williamsburg tells about those hot and Molten. Sounds Lisa. Oh did you hear them? I did I think everybody else heard them to painting. Topsy time. That is correct. That is when we put our experts on the hot seat while they answer toby's questions. Lisa should we put on the hot? I totally buried because his initials are be just like the initials of my nickname nickname batboys. Okay Yeah I'm a math for sure. I don't WanNa mess with me fat boy okay. So Toby we're starting with billy. What is your first question for? Billy Billy would you rather get a heavier envel- or a hotter forge I would rather get a heavier and bill? Why is that? I just like heavy things. You're GONNA love your parting. Gift today. I don't think we have mice. Okay Chris and Billy what have you made the most of I'll answer I 'cause I work at colonial Williamsburg work at a historic forge. So we mostly do shoes. Oh that's cool. Do you do like high heels only for the fancy horses? How about you belly? I mostly make A little bit of everything with a specialization. In knives you make knives like knives that you cut food with everything from cutting food to serviceable tools. That you use every day very cool. Do you name any of them. Like Mac or sure to name a lot of them really. Yeah who and. What's the name of your favorite favorite favorite Tomahawk? I call stabby stabby. Okay Toby Billy What would be your second? Most favorite thing to do is make besides knives One of the things. I'd really like to do before I move on from this. Life is make a a really nice replica of an old style. Lock which is one of your skills as a Smith that you really want to try to. Master cool is homes for both of you. How old were you when you gone? Interest IN BLACK SNIFFING. Yes I'd like to know. I'd like to know how one decides that. They want to be a blacksmith. At what age does that happen? You just wake up one day and say hey I wanNA. A blacksmith. House is on fire. Let's make knives. How does that work? I studied had a minor in art in in university And so I started with glassblowing actually and then I started working at colonial Williamsburg and I saw some of the cool. Things that the blacksmiths were making in. That's the way I kind of got into it. How about you billy? Ironically when I was about twelve years old my parents took colonial Williamsburg. Is that true? Absolutely and It was a rainy day and I was begging my dad. Let me stay and watch the Blacksmith and the gentlemen still alive today and left me there for two hours and that clinched a deal for me. That was it as Peter. Ross it was Peter. Ross yes it was who is being arise. I guess he's a black one of the most well respected smithson. The World Master Blacksmith at the Anderson Forge words. Okay so Chris what what I see if I went to colonial Williamsburg. Mcdonald's like what would you see if you saw her there? Ya Okay and do you do any acting? Over's voice overs So we all portray real people that you know really lived in Eighteenth Century Colony of Williamsburg Virginia and there was a real forged called the Anderson Blacksmith Forge. And I play someone named Loretta. Frye who real person. And she was a female blacksmith. During that time we reenact what you would do or what I would she would do. I would do in the the daily routine of that person. In the eighteenth century I be dressed in eighteenth century clothing specifically what she would wear while she was working as a blacksmith. Clocking fear are going to be burned. Probably not a good idea. Kristiyo like my name is way. All your guy's name again. The Red Fra Loretta. Our blacksmith just like that old timers. Yeah pretty much. Do the voice better killing you. Just Hi I'M LORETTA. Fry and I. You know my a Blacksmith Year. They Anderson four bit of a southern accent. Yeah I hear that good okay. So for billy what are the steps to forging something that would depend on what you're making you it's It's all for your favorite thing knives for knife. It would be for me to determine what type of knife us what type of material I'm going to use. And then if I'm not sure about how I'M GONNA FORGE IT. I would forge it on clay. I deceive it's GonNa come out like I wanted to and then I just go from there. Say I'm just going to make a simple Chef's knife the first thing I'm GonNa do is forged my tip out dumber. Draw the blade out to the length that I want I'm GONNA taper down taper my blade down figure out how went to look and then just finish up so when you say you forge. Something does that mean. You put like a chunk of metal on the end of a big stick and put it over. Fire depends on the methods that you're used to work in many people do many different things. But yes you heat a piece of metal to well over a thousand degrees and then you use your hammered to shape it into the shape that you would like you ever makes more than there. Didn't they tasted terrible. I bet they had a lot of iron metal. This Chris how have used your angle personal best. Is You know. I'm not sure I've never. I've never waited but it's pretty heavy right. Do they come in many different weights and different sizes? Okay so is for both of you Is it true? That all blacksmiths are really bulky. Big Burly Guy. Sure okay. No I don't I don't think so at all. I do need a certain level of strength To use the tools. But there's a lot of intricacies to two blacksmith thing And sometimes a less bulky person could do that better I see. What do you think about that billy? I think it's Agreeable and sometimes you do have to have a delicate touch and it's one of the hardest things ever taken me to learn is that you don't always have to bash stuff small. Yeah that too but you only do that once. You've passed your fingers before. Oh No I don't WANNA know la La la La but does that sound like something. You'd like to try one day toby. What try doing some blacksmith out to? Your House is safe as long as it's safe. Yeah thing like one of you. I could like higher museum or something. You're looking for anyone. Whichever one of US want to be an Apprentice Liar.
Civil society is an important player in fighting corruption: senior UN official
"This is connor lennon from u._n. News from the sixty eighth u._n. Civil society conference which is taking place at salt lake city in the u._s. state of utah. One of the globally the important topics covered at this year's event has been peacebuilding how countries can recover from conflicts and we learned that one of the big factors in this recovery is the fight against corruption. One of the speakers was murali duma frye who runs the civil society partnership team at the u._n. Office on drugs and crime when i spoke to her she told the post conflict countries have acute needs to ensure that their scarce resources get to the most vulnerable rather than those in power and where corruption is prevalent she. She said it can even be a driver of conflict. We have seen what has <hes> happened with the arab spring and with a lot of frustration furstration growing in population that felt that <hes> they were not treated in fair injustice way the weakness of off into institution facing corruption and <hes> bring to <hes> to war because then any <hes> any other small purpose can really bring down the whole society this why it's so important to have <hes> institution in place that can monitor all this act of corruption and can you give me some examples of the o._t._c. is doing doing in that regard well you know this is the guardian of the u._n. Convention against corruption so it is <hes> certainly trying to facilitate the work of member states to ensure <hes>. That's their legislation is adapted to the u._n. Convention against corruption and that only the low are in place to intervene quickly when our act of corruption my team works with civil society works with umbrella organization such as in correlation to make sure that there is constructive give work being undergone between government and civil society in implementation of this convention. Do you have a focus on particular countries right now. Now we have funding for essentially for africa but also <hes> some countries in latin america southeast asia and southeastern offs eastern europe and do you have examples of where your intervention has made a positive difference in recent years. I will give first a general example sample and maybe a more specific example. The general example is that member states when they were negotiating review mechanism of the convention against corruption did not <hes> really include civil society. It was meant to be a peer review but what has happened is much far beyond the expectation over ninety percent of the country have included civil society in in the review in the country visit in the first cycle and in the second cycle which is ongoing now. It's even more and this is really essentially because <hes> we have <hes> as you are not see we have started doing joint workshop. Member states civil society to have more increased collaboration and and show so that it is possible to work constructively together one more specific example could be <hes> that i think with this itchy appear piao were <hes>. It's just happened that we were conducting a regional workshop one week before the country visit of the country and and <hes> unfortunately the country had not planned to have civil society as the stage judging that the two chapter was which were under consideration where very technical technical but after this workshop they just included the to a civil society organization that they were here because they're here have have changed and they felt that they could contribute to the work so they were they allow them to to to meet and have bilateral meeting with the two reviewer country and included them in their work in the future <hes> also on the follow-up strategy national startegy. It's important to understand stan that everybody has a role and especially civil. Society is not always easy. They're not always welcome but i think by bringing their expertise on the table both <hes> by showing that they can work constructively that they are not only watchdog it can change <hes> certainly and and definitely if not corruption can not be left alone to government. It has to be a joint work with civil society government. The private sector of course is an important player.
Bitcoin and Bitmain: What You Need to Know
"If you guys aren't familiar with Pitman Pitman is an extremely extremely large company. That's produces that pretty much had a monopoly on still do to it to a degree developing as minors so vitmain had created and patented D- a hardware process known as a sick boost and that increase the efficiency of bitcoin miners by twenty percent that means that minors owned by Vitmain Maine held a twenty percent advantage over other miners which many felt was unfair because it was a patented process now as a boost was rendered third pretty much useless with the introduction of bip one forty one which was <hes> which was the introduction of Segregated Witness Aka segue but that didn't happen happen until August first two thousand seventeen all right. That's not until <hes> bit one forty one was implemented and push live on August first two thousand nineteen or two thousand in seventeen. Excuse me now <hes> so prior to that there was a huge problem in the community about the block size debate about a sick boost and really had nothing to do with blocksize it never did it was all about mining profits. It was all about Batman. It was all about a boost so <hes> this whole debate played out as I just said about blocksize oxide but it really was about mining profits so at the time bit main and associates control about thirty percent of the hashing power and Seguin activation so so forbid one forty one to be pushed live needed a ninety five percent vote from the minors and with Bettman and associates staunchly opposed. There didn't seem to be a way to get it to move forward. We didn't see <hes> we didn't see how we were going to get segregated witness. In which was largely agreed upon was the move forward <hes> because <hes> the one forty one would allow what introduced segue and what allowed all of this would have disabled basically rendered a boost useless <hes> also introduced phase two applications or layer two applications which allows for things like lightning network in it also increased security and helped improve transaction malleability so so a bitcoin unlimited had existed inside the bitcoin community and it was a huge part of this as well <hes> bitcoin unlimited was developed I- bitcoin unlimited was bitcoin cash before bitcoin cash was bitcoin cash. <hes> bitcoin unlimited was running the bitcoin core protocol. It was bitcoin but they had their own clients. So if you guys know like a client is when you're running bitcoin core that's a client that's a wallet while it can be generated from a client or independently <hes> but there's always a client. which is you know how how how <hes> information to nodes are broadcasted cast how information from noses received et Cetera et Cetera? <hes> governs guard governs consensus in all things of this nature <hes> signing of transactions transactions <hes> so <hes> you know bitcoin unlimited had existed for a while on their own now bitcoin unlimited was always pushing for bigger blocks <hes> they were they threatened fifty one percent tax on the bitcoin network <hes> and <hes> and heart forks they wanted to move bitcoin down a different path than a majority the bitcoin developers so as I said this was bitcoin cash before bitcoin cash was bitcoin cash so segment was already accepted the idea of segue and and and the way the blocksize was was already and layer two applications was already accepted by many in the community early two thousand seventeen <hes> and it was an upgrade so so so it was an upgrade to the bitcoin protocol I A- voluntary soft for to increase the blocksize yes increased the blocksize <hes> fix transaction malleability and as I said allow layer the two applications like the lightning at work so we were at the stalemate with bitcoin unlimited you know pushing and pushing and pushing for bigger blocks and threatening chain you know a chain split and with <hes> you know with with vitmain using a boost and having that having that be a big problem so you know a lot of people thought we are at stalemate. We didn't see how we were going to get out of the situation situation and a lot of people thought that God forbid it might even bring the network down this was a huge problem huge ideological divide for those of you who are not in the Bitcoin community who do not keep up with in the depths talk about with the with what miners talk about for those of you guys who just exist on exchanges and look at price. You guys have no idea like what a big deal. This was like this <hes> ah this was huge this was huge absolutely huge and had the potential to to to fundamentally caused a huge good or negative to bitcoin on the protocol level so <hes> in a pretty brilliant stroke <hes> Shaolin Frye who is a bitcoin developer. He introduced bit one forty eight. Uh onto the get hub march two thousand seventeen now what one forty eight proposed or implemented is that it would cause nodes to reject blocks mind by minors if that minor was not signaling for Segue was not signaling that they were gonNA mind segue blocks so after August I if bit one forty eight was pushed then those refusing coming to mind segue blocks would be wasting electricity and would be out competed by those that would it was basically a ticking time bomb on and this is this is when the <hes> this is when the New York agreement it happened <hes> this was a closed-door meeting to those who are basically bitcoin unlimited sympathetic to figure out how to resolve the one forty eight power play so this is where B. Two laxer s two x concept was birth where it was agreed essentially that segue would that they would agree to implement segue only if they agreed that they would double the block size to two megabytes within six months or else they were gonna hard work right so again always with the threats <hes> so this was a counter powerplay to to bet one forty eight power play now there were a few problems with us namely that the code to do this to do the two megabyte upgrade the do the two megabit upgrade was not written and had six months to be I developed created tested and implemented conversely the original segment proposal one bit one forty one have been developed for about two years and had been rigorously Orissa stress tested this is things move slowly and bitcoin because they're good they have to be stress tested so <hes> bit main published. A blog article titled U. A. H. H F a contingency plan against AF bip one forty eight on June twenty-fourth on June fourteenth. Excuse me two thousand seventeen <hes> this hard fork plan that they actually talked about did eventually actually happen and that was that eventually became bitcoin cash but basically that blog that manifesto states that if one forty one if one forty eight was activated to protect minors who chose to mine nonstick with blocks on that they would just fork and make their own make their unchain which they did do and it was bitcoin cash so I wanNA give a big shout out to James Hilliard who is an unsung hero of two thousand seventeen. He wrote the code to make both the s two x proposal and bit one forty eight compatible via bit ninety one one so as we know the way that this played out is the one forty one was successfully implemented which was the original segue proposal the original intent of bit one one forty eight was actually not for it to be activated <hes> but it was it was meant as a power play to coerce miners who were who were colluding with Vitmain who are who are profiting from A._C.. Boost our those affiliated with them to signal support for bip one forty one which was segue on there was a power it was a power play a beautiful stroke actually to evoke change change in a productive manner and move the Bitcoin Ford from this gridlock and it worked and here we are two years later August first the second birthday of at one forty one and unfortunately the legacy of Bitcoin cash so happy day to all of my bitcoin is out there we did it. We won and technology prevailed and Bitcoin is stronger than ever and and what this really means so if that story didn't really mean anything
UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn Allegedly Threatened Farmer with Machete
"Pen investigated for allegedly threatening farmer with machete, and he had kind of brought that up a little bit indie last interview with us. But I guess he was able to gather some more public records and stuff like that. But yeah, it was a public records request revealed. Penn also is under an active police investigation after he allegedly threatened a tarot farmer with a machete in a dispute over trespassing. So that the custody custody order from last month. Yeah. I don't know about you guys. I'm more frayed of somebody walking up with a machete than I am a gun.
