So he ended up in the Mac because he couldn't get in at Georgia. They didn't recruit him and he's from state sparrow. He was MVP, wasn't born, wasn't born instead. Are you just making this up? You just making up oh wow, you're just making up a life story for Dustin Brown. That's amazing. All right, let's go. I mean, that was it. And then I was gonna say something like, I don't like the diarrhea dot com bowl. Those bowls are all ridiculous. He played in the gosh. I'm trying to think of like the dot com companies that are like popping up in he played in the Ethereum dot net mold. MVP. What was it? What are the answers to all of it? I don't even remember what college, but it was a Mac school, right? Yeah, it was Ken Ken state. He was a golden flash. He was born in grafton, Ohio. Went to mid to mid view high school. Where he played three sports Gary, baseball, basketball, and football. And was the 2009 MVP of the Frisco bowl. Wait, what year? 2019? He was the 20 9 2019. Okay, the Frisco bowl. MVP of the Frisco bowl. Okay. Frisco bowl, that's all right. That's a good name. Also, his school, Dustin crumb is one of the most famous people to have graduated from mid view high school. The creator of the comic strip funky winker bean. Wow. Also also went there. I don't read a lot of funky winker. I don't think it's still coming down, but I was not in the middle school play, but the middle school play when I was in middle school. A thousand years ago was funky winker beans, homecoming. And I still remember the theme song. No way. Yeah. Funky winker bean. I thought that's what the guy said when he hits himself in the face in rookie of the year, right? What's his name? vaccinated as possible to stop the omicron variant spread J&J says it has an ocron specific shot in the works but wants to finish collecting data on its current vaccine COVID-19 hospital admissions rising quickly in many parts of the eastern U.S. Singapore has found two more omicron variant cases Russia has said today that the escalating tensions over Ukraine could lead to a repeat of the Cuban missile crisis U.S. dismisses the statement and Chinese hackers this year targeted military and civilian organizations in several Southeast Asian nations particularly those with similar territorial claims or infrastructure projects And Donald Trump has lost another bid to shield his January 6th insurrection records In San Francisco I'm at Baxter This is Bloomberg Rituals Thanks Ed Well let's get more and talk about the defaults from China evergreen and Kaiser group the embattled developers officially labeled to filters for the first time And join Andrew Collier economist a global source partners who joins us from our Hong Kong studio Andre I guess in a sense This was only kind of a matter of time We have seen high yield dollar bonds rally What does it mean more broadly though for the property sector in China Well people may have been expecting it but if you had asked said a year ago China's largest developer is going to default nobody would have believed you So certainly the market is to change its tone over the past year and even a couple of months ago I saw some quotes from people Now the real issue is how much stimulus will they provide How much local stimulus will they provide among local governments And will we know about it And over the longer term is there any way that China can find new growth strategies outside of the property sector What about the rights of mortgage holder developers I mean there's concerns here about whether or not they're going to be uphill I assume yes The main concern in Xi Jinping and the party is stability And that means that if you've got a large number of people that are going to be hurt by the default the government is going to try to help them in some ways That means that you've got hundreds of thousands of people who may have prepaid for flats or you have mortgages outstanding and even to some degree some people have some of these wealth management products that were sold by evergreen However the recap is likely to be piecemeal among local governments and not so much directly out of Beijing with a massive stimulus Let's talk as well about what we've been seeing from the PBOC really moving to weaken the currency and we saw this week of reference rate again today sparing some fresh declines in offshore trading What kind of signal do you think this is sending given we had that three Ohio or in the week I was a little surprised at that I don't know why there's so much variability There's a lot of suspicion that there's a lot of banks that have been holding offshore dollars because some of the data does not match up in terms of foreign exchange controls So at this point what the PBOC is intending as a signal is unclear I really can't tell you what their strategy is because we've seen a lot of volatility in the currency We know that we're going to get that big monthly data down for next week And then we had the CPI and PPI yesterday showing that that gap is narrowing somewhat I guess signaling that we could see some further easing from the PBOC after the triple-A cut this week too What kind of expectations do you have from further policy moves Well that's the big question I mean the triple R cut injected ¥1.1 trillion into the economy And the reporting has suggested that that was against the wishes of the PBOC that that was a crammed down by the Communist Party itself Further stimulus measures don't seem to be happening yet What's really going on is that the Central Bank is telling the local branches of state banks and the local PBOC to try to find local ways to inject money into the economy to handle the default of a lot of these evergreen projects And a lot of this is being run out of the Guangdong government because that's the home of evergreen They have a lot of their assets there And they're well capitalized So I'm very curious to know what Guangdong is going to be doing because I think they're really running the show more than Beijing at this point All right so you have these concerns in the property space You have this slowing economy too but we also have the attack or the regulations on the overall tech sector how much of a concern is this and do you see a potential bottom for some of these companies that have been hit hard Good question I'm writing a book on this that I hope to get out early in the year It's very clearly that this is a party driven thing The regulatory crackdown was necessary but a lot of the measures they've been doing really are more intended to strengthen the hand of the party and the overall economy than anything else I don't think there's a bottom yet in sight for this because at the end of the day their attitude is they don't really need the Uber of China to be that large Amazon they felt was getting too large They needed to have its wings clipped And financial the online bank basically was reduced to a shadow of its former self And they've hit the gaming sector So I don't think all the platform companies could suffer further regulatory downturn because Beijing's attitude is that these are not These are more of a threat than helping the Communist Party A threat and also perhaps some symbolism as well in terms of the crackdown Symbolism in what way In terms of just trying to show the upper hand and how strong the overall Chinese government I guess is I think it's more than symbolism I mean I think they genuinely believe perceive Jack Ma and the Alibaba as a threat he'd raised all short capital He was making a lot of noises about the inadequacies of the government regulatory situation He was pushing and financial as a new model for lending which threatened the state banks So I think in many ways the party reacted in a very understandable way given what their imperatives are Let's look ahead at what we can expect in 2022 as well as we continue to see the common prosperity theme play through too And I guess the effect of the ongoing COVID zero policy in China and what impact that's going to have on the economy Well the COVID zero policies hits close to home since it's very hard for me to leave Hong Kong But common prosperity is a great populist campaign but doesn't have a lot of meat on it Essentially you have to readjust the entire fiscal nature of China to achieve the goals of better equality of income And that's difficult to do given that the tax base relies on an inflated property market So I don't see a lot going on The idea of charity of getting the big tech companies to throw money at poor people is really not going to do much to change it You really have to restructure the state system There's a lot of indication that they're doing that I think the key point is that at some point the local governments are going to have to help small businesses because they're the biggest employers 80% And they also can generate growth So I don't know how they're going to adjudicate that because that means starving some of the state firms of capital and that's a tough one You mentioned your own personal situation there and it's something that all our colleagues in Hong Kong face I mean if you leave it's very difficult to come back you face at least what three weeks quarantine perhaps one in a state facility how much of an impact if this continues do you see on the Hong Kong economy.

"The U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments over the death sentence of one of the Boston Marathon bombers One major question whether the jurors were properly vetted for bias This case is the first case where the court is confronted with an almost unlimited body of information through social media A death penalty dispute in a high profile terrorism case on the next morning edition from NPR news Tomorrow morning at 5 on 90.1 W ABE From NPR in WBUR I'm Tanya Mosley in Los Angeles along with Scott Tong in Washington D.C. This is here and now Climate disasters have dominated the news over the years from wildfires to hurricanes to drought and study after study tells us new aspects of this larger climate story But how do we aggregate that sea of important climate science data Well a group of scientists use machine learning to analyze and map more than a 100,000 studies And this effort to definitively link escalating weather and climate extremes with the ways we as humans live They published their work in nature climate change and they found that 85% of the world's population and 80% of the land are impacted by human caused climate change Joining us to discuss this is Richard alley a climate scientist at Penn State university He was not involved in this study but he joins us to talk more about it Thank you for being here It is my pleasure nice to chat with you Richard what does this study of studies tell us that we don't already know In some sense not much we have known that burning fossil fuels and releasing the CO2 would warm the planet since the 1800s This has been well known in my whole lifetime but the knowledge is just getting stronger It's gone from balance of evidence to pound on the table near certainty This is real It's happening It's affecting us Richard 85% is such a specific percentage of the world's population impacted At least one climate expert said that percentage is an understatement To that point isn't all land impacted by climate change Yes the climate is changing everywhere There's no way to put a little cylinder around some 15% Who is really seeing it Some people more than others And so you can set some threshold slider and get a number But yes everyone's climate is changing And we really all are seeing it Well in thinking about the future all of this comes of course in the run up to November's climate summon in Scotland Do you expect this study to motivate countries to make any better or binding agreements to curb global emissions If I knew the answer to that I'd be a happy person It is very strong evidence for them to use We are the IPCC the scientists eventually come with all of our science and we put it together and these hardworking volunteers who worked with the IPCC have done their best to give to the policy makers what the policy makers ask for The IPCC has said this really is what solid This is what's possible This is what the uncertainties look like This is the actionable information Now it's up to you to take the actions Well Richard in journalism some have remarked that over the next decade every story we cover will likely be a climate story What are you focused on in the coming decade from a climate perspective Yeah so I think you're right that there is a climate component everything going forward Our research group is especially concerned with the issue of large abrupt sea level rise The projections in this IPCC are challenging It's three feet of rise by 2100 if things go wrong But that leaves more than 99% of the eyes still in Greenland and Antarctica and not melted And we're working on the possibility that if a little more of that ice goes away sea level could rise a lot more The uncertainties in climate science tend to be mostly on the bad side It could be a little better than we're expecting It could be a little worse or we could break something we really care about and it could be a lot worse And there isn't so much a lot better to balance the lot worse So if we let climate change run ahead uncertainties look very risky And that's on ecosystems burning and not growing back and it's on societies getting mad at each other Our military leaders have been very clear that climate change is a threat multiplier that you make people mad enough and sometimes they get together and they solve the problem And sometimes they get mad at each other and they start shooting things And so how are human societies adapt to this And whether we use the information and grab it and build a better future or whether we get mad at each other is maybe the most important question A test of our humanity It is indeed That's Richard alley a climate scientist at Penn State university Thank you so much for your time It is my pleasure Thank you Fall is the time of year when as we know many birds fly south for the winter He is climate change made the affecting their behavior that is when and where they migrate Scientists at the Manhattan observatory in Plymouth Massachusetts are now working to track migratory birds on these questions The observatory is one of the oldest banding labs in North America And by placing ankle bands on birds researchers have been tracking the rise and follow species for more than 50 years Barbara Moran of member station WBUR reports Fall is busy if you're a migrating bird.

I think you know you've been in the conference. Usa hemisphere for a while none of these scheduling wives really evidence a perfect but we do have an east and west And i think there's gonna be a lot of fun down the stretch for both men and women in basketball Because i think there's gonna be some games late in the year that really gained stuff for see in in frisco so i was excited about the decisions that we made I think time will tell how much we like it. If that makes sense. I mean we had to give some things You know we have a couple of split weekends by slit weekends. I mean we play Probably gonna get my teams wrong again. But i believe we play like florida international at florida international on thursday. We gotta come home and play you tap on a sunday go so growed home in the same weekend. We don't we don't really like to do that But we had to give up some things to try this division deal. And i think long term i think at the end of the day. "You, Frisco fan your entire career. He had gone seven and o with an E r a of under two against the Giants, And then he had his worst performance of the season. Sunday. You got to this guy, you touched him up six runs in three innings. I'm telling you, man, the Giants have nothing but my respect. And admiration. They are tough, dude, they're gritty as hell. By the way, I'm not the one who should be coming for. There are a lot of people who still are not respecting you waiting for you to fold your tent and collapse. I'm not one of those people they're still on top of the N L West. And it's close. How close of these two played each other. The Dodgers have scored. 80 runs the Giants 78. Let me just say this, And this does not make me a homer. And this does not make me a honk. I'm just saying this I don't want to be the poop in your ice cream, either. No, Cal. While you won That series and the season series, you know, and I know that it's gonna be a hell of a lot more difficult next month, when you not only have to face Walker again, the odds on favorite to win the NL Cy Young Award but also the second choice in mad Max. Because Max is getting stronger, and Max is already in his postseason Red ass MAX mode. It's not just those two. Julio Curious. Who beat you Saturday. He's got the most wins in the measures. So let me tell you something. There might not be a pinch of poop in that ice cream. Somebody may take a full dump in that ice cream is a bucket of poop, and there's a bucket of ice cream. You can put all these Ice cream in that group that you want. It doesn't change it. But one little pinch of that poop. In that ice cream ruins that ice cream and I'll tell the guy you my man are the poop in our ice cream. If Frisco you my city or The pope in the ice cream, or you got You got You have a big dog and ice creams. You have a big in your ice cream's You have a big, dry ice cream. You have a big dump in you, Denny and listen. Frisco. Don't twist what I'm saying. I'm not here to poop in your ice cream. I'm not here because somebody's got a big dumping their ice cream. Not a shot at you guys. Could not respect the way your teams played this year and where you are right now. I'm just saying. It's gonna get harder. It's going to change change. The climb is getting steeper. But I know how much you and John and CJ like your chances. And no, I'm not gonna bet you on that series, either. If in fact that does happen, John Series, I'll go. 500 Bucks best two out of three. As I mentioned on Friday or Thursday, or whatever that guy made that call if I take your bed and I'm gonna take everybody else's bats, and that's just not the way we do this. Although John I do see the Dodgers as the plus 1 25 favorite to win the National League. I do see your Giants as the third choice at plus 500. So maybe you should find that action yourself. Grow Ham. In Cardinal fan I'm not going to get into your number. I don't want to upset you even more than you already are. Because you didn't get that guy who just turned you inside out, But your number is not good. Not good. But you know, cause I want to come in here and talk a little bleep. Go right ahead. Dodger hunks. I mean, I know that you're above reacting to this or responding to it. All of you. Except I guess Matt in l A no home. You put the mat in l a spotlight. Now he's going to come. Really hasn't called much of late. Maybe you won't The only Dodger fans on the show that really seemed to care or react or silk and mad. Which is good because you all love them both so much. But Dodger fan if you want to come in and talk about what happened over the weekend, you go right ahead. I'm just here to tell you as always. Giant fan hates Dodger fan way more than Dodger fan hates giant fan so giant fan will come in here unless John Fan quit the show already. And I just said, like five different ways. How much I respect your team, and the year it's having you know, your problem is Frisco. You only hear what you want to hear. You don't hear what I actually say. You hear what you want to hear, man? You check him out. Dodger. Jim, the honk talking all that trash about us? Not at all. Only about a few of your fans, Definitely not your baseball team. You know why? I know what the hell I'm talking about. I pay attention. And I like what I see from them. It's a damn good series, Man really competitive, really intense. Let's run it back. Let's do it again. And shock of all shocks. I don't give a damn who wins. I really don't. I respect and admire a great deal about both. However, I got in mid Dave Roberts is one of my favorite guys. That'd be a lie. I'd be really, really disingenuous. If I did not say that, however, that does not mean that I'm rooting against your team. All right, Then. I thought we've covered this. I don't like 20 years ago. And yet it's come back somehow, some way. It's weird. It's ugly Head Frisco. And you know why you.

He doesn't think that the falcons are gonna take a quarterback he thinks arthur blank is all in on on matt ryan for another year to have a new coach and the new general manager. And here's the thing like if you trade down four. And i suspect it'll be teams interested in trading up to four to get whether it's trae lance macaroni justin fields. If you're the falcons if you move down if you move down you're not getting cockpits. That's just the end the conversation because either the bengals. The dolphins entertainment five or six and presumably. You're not trading with those teams already have quarterbacks. So that's the math you're doing and if you're not getting likely to march as we saw a report on monday for peter king that maybe julio jones could be moved with which seems crazy what they need a cap space Could you turn down for. Cornerback if the falcons you could but again what gives you more value in terms of making that football team better. I think it's how pet. So if i'm the falcons and i'm not taking justin feels matteo's trae lands i'm sampling. Taking cup pits. Janssen the blank blank. We'll take pets. I think it's it's atlanta. But i also be surprised if the team traded up with the falcons maybe even take pits like ryan saying you know the train up to the quarterback but you know teams fall in love your dallas. You know thousand the four but you know if a team really loves him that much and it's hard not to love that much than you could see. Maybe a team being overly aggressive. I think it was on On the nfl network this morning on good morning football there was a segment that they do with the giants traded up. You know. I don't know who is doing the job. Esau just a screen grab of it on twitter but the giants gave their first or second ebony ingram and something else to move up to four to get pits and it was you know something that on paper make some sense but you know. Obviously something is not likely to happen but still i would say it's four is where he goes. But the falcons do make some sense especially they decided we want from me jonesing. Another playmaker

Complexity Gaming's FIFA All-Star Alan Avi
"Allen Avila AKA Alan Avi from complexity gaming FC Dallas. He's a dog Pro slash Castro content creator in general a look at one of the showman Hey Kevin good to be here. I'm excited to be talking some e Sports specifically some fee for today. Yeah, definitely. Thanks for having me so off top favorite FIFA version go all FIFA version. There's so many I mean I've been playing fevers such a long time ever since the World Cup 1998. I would say be for 17 honestly for several reasons. I like the gameplay and I also like that fever because that's what everything sort of started right on so, I mean not not to say that the other FIFA's aren't as good. Let's be very clear about that. Right? Yeah for sure. There's several pieces that I really do like it was a tough decision. I mean it took a while to think of all the FIFA's I mean 16-15 was a really really good. The thing is though. I mean FIFA changes every single FIFA some people don't believe this but it really does change. Whole lot in terms of the gameplay mechanics what works what doesn't work the way the players move just so many little details that ultimately change the game. So, yeah, it's just it's just interesting people like certain FIFA's While others don't like some FIFA's well forgetting about fever first second, right? You actually were pursuing a career as a professional footballer write soccer player, You literally sustained an injury that stopped you from playing for not stopping employment is kind of stunted that that career path for you a little bit more and So you you're recovering your your home away from from actual soccer for a bit and you start picking up FIFA more and more and that leads you down this path towards becoming I mean what you are now, you're just awesome see from the optional Caster. I mean this reads like an Esports Hallmark movie, right? This is crazy. Exactly. Yeah, so I have a big story a big testimony in the way of how I got here. I never expected it. This all stems back from them. I would have played soccer with FC Dallas not at the virtual pitch. Just yeah in real life. I was part of the academy program development program as a youngster. Why Some Texas Residents Now Face Huge Electricity Bills
"Think for a moment about that. Famous survey suggesting that many people would struggle to pay an emergency expense of even a few hundred dollars now think about texas where some people suddenly have utility bills in the thousands of dollars. It's a side effect of last week's storm that overcame the power grid. People who managed to keep their power are now paying for it. Christopher connelly is with member station k. e. r. a. in and joins us. Now good morning. Hi steve what's an example of the kind of costs that people face right so well. I talked to shannon mars. She has one of those big bills. She lives in frisco which is a dallas suburb with her husband. Mike and three kids in january. They paid two hundred fifty seven bucks for electricity and as of saturday. The families electric bill for the month of february was ten thousand one hundred eighty dollars and seventy six cents during those real. Yeah during those really cold days last week. The marches were paying one or two thousand dollars a day for electricity shannon. Maher said it makes her sick to her stomach to think about it too awful and there's nothing you can do and i've been really stressed about it and ten thousand dollars is a ton of money. I guess you gotta explain the texas system here. Because i get a utility bill. I pay the utility bill. I don't even necessarily know what my costs four day is. How does this even happen right. So this is wonky but but bear with me here so. Texas has a deregulated market for electricity. It is designed so that when there's a shortage of electricity of the price will go up in power. Companies will have an incentive to generate more electricity that deregulated market also for the sale of unusual policies. Like the ones. The mars is have plans with variable rates for electricity and those are the customers who are ending up with these sky high bills. The mars family spent hours trying to switch to a different company last week to find one with a more traditional fixed rate plan and normally they would be able to do that but the storm made that impossible so they were just sitting there watching the charges on their credit. Cards rack up. Does this suggest that this deregulation doesn't work well. It works great when the weather's good but you know it appears that there weren't market incentives in this market system for power providers to make sure that they were prepared to weather a massive winter storm. There have been warnings about that for years. Actually and the system broke down almost exactly like this about a decade ago. You know the other issue that we're seeing is that. The deregulated system assumes that consumers will fend for themselves that they'll find electricity plan where they won't get hosed if a big storm rolls in cable weight from the consumer rights group public citizen says. That just doesn't really happen. In reality people have a lot of different things tugging at their attention and their bandwidth and so a lot of our economic decisions are actually made on autopilot and therefore all these theories like that. We will shop for the cheapest and best plan for ourselves. They don't play out state trying to help. Now yeah so. There will be hearings looking into the issue. This week governor greg. Abbott says no one should have to pay these exorbitant bills and yesterday the public utilities commission temporarily blocked companies from sending out bills or shutting off customers power for non-payment abbots also saying that the state will force power plants to weather is so they're prepared for the next storm. I got to say this. Level of government intervention feels anathema to the way republicans have governed this state for decades. But there is so much political pressure right now to make changes because even as people are just starting to repair burst pipes and get the water running again. Christopher colleague of kera. Thanks thank

A Zay mentioned scrubbed their unflattering Kamala Harris story from their website, and it's all been caught. And now every says, Well, what one of those stories have you have you erased or change? They literally deleted out the paragraph that may come out of bed. And so democracy dies and darkness is their their slogan, and they are literally dying, killing democracy in darkness with their own paper. Now, that's amazing basis. Way to go. Then they reached out and said, We want to help you. We have a great infrastructure. Let's help you. And then, of course, when asked, they said, Oh ah Ah ah! Right anyway, So here we go. Here's the original Washington Post story that they disappeared until they get caught. So it was the fourth of July. Again. This is Kamala Harris, running for president when the left had no problem and made a point to Make her look bad because she is bad. They didn't want to be the nominee because she wouldn't win. They know they knew it. We all know it. It was the fourth of July Independence Day and cut Kamala Harris was explaining to her sister Maya, that campaigns are like prisons. I'm gonna jump three or four paragraphs. Kamala said. It's a treat that a prisoner gets when they asked for a morsel of food, please, she said, showing your hands forward as if clutching a metal plate. Her voice now trembling like an old British man locked in a Dickinson. Dick Kensi in jail, cell and water. I just want what you stand to really out the effing window. And then Kamala burst in the laughter. I guess she's thinking about all those black men she threw in jails look like a tough prosecutor, even though that what the witnesses were bad the cases were weakened our own D A People told The New York Times that she was throwing people in jail black people because you look good and tough on crime shouldn't care about their lives. It was, he laughs at them. Now they're in prison, and she goes on and says in the Washington Post story, she said. It should go without saying that Choosing to run for the most powerful political office in the world is absolutely nothing like being behind bars and getting to squeeze in the morning Soulcycle session. All right, this is what the This is what the guy who discovered this the guy with reason magazine, he discovered that he discovered that the post deleted this, He said it should go without saying that choosing to run for the most powerful political office in the world. "Headline Runaway. Maybe Go Come on. Data shows Frisco eyes deep punished black students more than white. Now I'm gonna read you the highlights from the Embassy five store, then replace some audio from it. Data shows and physical eyes see that black students, all black students were suspended more than white. One and special. Here's a lady who had one student in special ed one. Not in special and you're gonna hear from her in just a minute. She said she wasn't surprised by the data. Black students make up 11% of the student population first go but account for 35% of our school suspension. So that's more than three times a suspension of their you know, rate their population. And, um Here's some of the audio from this. This mother and the reporter, NBC five. Leslie Faucet raised her two sons and Frisco. I esteemed, she says both her boys were treated differently than white students. All of us that I am aware of that complaint. All right. We've all complained, okay? It's something that's talked about quite a bit at the school amongst parents, African American parents and You know, just when I read it, it was like that I will die. The answer that we always got what will die, she says. Of course. Hello. The answer that we always got was what week discuss another kid's incident with you. We can't decide which I get. But when you have proof of this, these are despair. It seats discrepancies. These were happening, okay? I don't believe that She has proof of that. I don't believe this proof of this thing, disparity and all this kind of stuff. Yeah. Let me just show the rest of before I tell you more of my thoughts. Briscoe. Because of this, these statistics coming out, saying that 11% of the students are black and first prize TV get 35% about schools. Our school suspensions are black people. So they formed a committee. They hired a lady, of course to strategize for equity and diversity in the schools. You know, they hire virtue, signaling, you know, stupid thing here. The virtue signaling Lady said. It's going to be a continuous improvement method for us to dig in and determine what the real issues are. And I believe the real issues are what I always tell you about the out of wedlock birthrate. And the the decay of the black family. That's what it is The cultural right indicate the black family. That's why you have these numbers, which I'll get into it more in a minute, But well, the term with the real issues are. Well, you're gonna find that it's what I just said. And then you're not gonna be willing to call it out. Because that'll make you look like you're a racist. But I want to read on the story. These Steve the the chief of student services. Actually, at first Dost. I liked what she said. She says they're looking at how punishments are handed out and making sure they're changing. Wait. They're changing their minds because I don't like that. That's bad. But then, um she, um They She says something else that I really liked, she said. I think it's easy to read a headline. And say, that's where it's going to go on. That they're gonna do. They're gonna change the numbers, and there's something wrong there being unfair because I think that's going to be easy to read. The headlines say That's what's going on that we're mistreating them. But she says that's not what's going on. That's what I like what she said. He's the real headline and think that's what's what's what's going on. But it's not, she says. Our educators and I want you to listen this closely, she says. Our educators Our teachers and our administrators. We get in this business because we love kids, all kids and that's what we see happening, so she's not seeing this garbage. The black woman who have been playing audio of said told NBC five. All of her sons are both out of school. But she's in there. She's had this conversation. She had tried to have this conversation with the school district for years. And with district leaders after her son, seeing him disciplined more harshly than his white peers. So my my question for you is Shut by having proof of these. These discrepancies, which I don't buy it all. And the difficult talked about having a loose timeline to have new concrete policies. And I have my response to that is Oh, because that's not good. And the reason why is because I don't believe that there is a discrepancy. I don't believe that black kids are made being mistreated, Writ large or overall and first Goais, Steve I don't care what the Democrats in with the media say about this lies about race, racism, and you know institutional racism. That's all a lie to me. And I think it's an excuse. That they use. It's a cause to for power and wealth and political gain, which is why they say it and do that in the media. Unequivocally. And so, um, I want to Don't ask you a few questions here. I want you to think about this because this This is where I said. It's not just the usual react and you know, blah, blah, blah. And then we move on. Think closely already. What does it do? To these kids, these black kids who they say you know, 11% are black and physical Eyes D. Yet 35% of the out of school suspensions are black. It's right. What does it say to the kids? The black it If they did these black kids we're talking about. Okay. They get in trouble. What does it say to these black kids? If they deserved to be punished. But they aren't punished because of their skin color. What does it save them? Tell me What it says to the black kid in Frisco iced tea. If he deserves to be punished. But isn't because of his skin color. What does that say to him? 800 to 88. W B. A P is our number 800 to 889227 wants to think about some other things too. Because I don't believe this black woman. First of all I'm going to say Don't try. Try to be more. Uh um introspective, circum circumspect. Maybe the better word, but Um Once again. I don't see a dad here. There's no dad and that's exactly what the problem is. There's no father. There's no husband talking in there. I don't see a daddy. And that's the whole root of the problem right there. In the African American household. Not all thankfully but in many, unfortunately And so I think that being in the situation and here's what I want to get to is, I think that you and I, you and I have bad perception sometimes, don't you? Only like you know, I think that I am right about something in my wife. My kids like no, you're not dead. You're wrong, right? It's I have to see that Sometimes I'm wrong. I have to see it doesn't matter whether it's because you're black. You're white. I'm just saying that we as human beings, regardless of skin color. We Constantly get our butt handed to us, Don't we? We constantly think that we're wrong and it's not. It's just that we saw things from the wrong perspective and we're constantly hopefully being Open and listening to others, and they're they're constructive criticism of us of ourselves so we can grow and so Do we? You and me. We air in our perceptions. When this lady says the first quiet city is rigged against black students and disproportionately AH gives them out of school suspension. Mistreats them. Do we? As in, you know, white folks in the suburbs and whatever, just white folks there in general of the you know that do we air in our perception in this Let me ask you something. Els. Can they? You know what I'm gonna say that I mean, all blacks. I'm saying people like this woman here who's black? Who says it's because she's black? Can they people like her? In her camp because there's a lot of African Americans that are on my side on this, too, As you know our side. So it's not a black white thing. But I'm saying those African Americans who believe this crap And white people who believe this computer believe this craft. Can they air Can they error in their perceptions? Is it possible? They're actually perceiving things incorrectly? Is it possible that it's not rigged against the black kid? But that he deserves to have this punishment. Do we have blind spots to you? And I on our side of the coin in this equation, Do we have blind spots? I don't I do. I mean, I'm not saying I do in the story, but I'm just saying in my life and as a human being in my family in my work and my you know, I have blind spots, so if we can have blind spots Do they Cause I think they have a blind spot. I think they're in error in this. And then they say in the store while we're looking to see how Frisco can do better..

Practice get ready and then flats by on the fifteenth of january. So and. i think that's what he's gonna do and they are going to do one of these little prentice bubbles between them. Yeah as i understand it. They're all there were three locations. Were tennis australia. Were laying on charter flights to into melbourne One of them is certainly dubai. Believe the us sworn is in la so to play delray beach. It wouldn't just be a matter of getting delray beach implying that you then have a an internal. Us flight ahead of you as well which surely makes it even less. Enticing prospects say That's that we live. News we will say Got news the ashpalt and brady ought to play doubles together in the australian open getting. Does that reignited. You'll brady fire david hers. It's best aside reignited. It's just been smoldering along. Evison thinking of unknown stolen. Very i i. I do hope that there's more of this though for the australian open if we could if we're moving the dates as they have in. It's going back three weeks and everything is thrown up in the way it is one nice little bonus would be some doubles teams just emerged out of singles plas- that you wouldn't normally gas and you could just just half an extra to the tournament so and i think that that's already a big one I can see the express online headline now. David law fire for jennifer brady continues to smolder

"Paul the cowboy strength and conditioning coordinator was rushed to the hospital early yesterday after collapsing in his office at the team's frisco practice facility about seven thirty yesterday morning and he was of course they They called they called medical emergency responders and was was rushed to a hospital right away and the cowboys didn't release a lot of information. I decided that it happened. You know and that he was undergoing medical testing and and that while even even mentioned the testing errors that was part of what led to the problem. A rumor that that spread that that he had died and a lot of outlets published that he had passed away out. Part of the part of the problem was the fact that they had. They cancelled practice yesterday. because of this and no explanation was given so people thought. Okay this is this is more than just somebody not dislike covid nineteen or something or somebody somebody who had a heart condition and had to be taken the hospital. I saw it on a tweet that my daughter reid tweeted because marcus. Paula graduated from syracuse. In one thousand nine hundred eighty eight and they were outlets in syracuse reporting that he had died and his daughter issued a statement on facebook saying her fifty four year. Old dad was on life. Support in the family was praying for a miracle. That is apparently still the situation this morning. Although we don't know but yes. A lot of a lot of people did report That he had died and apparently some of that and again now. Now we're now we're wandering into You know rumor and speculation but apparently some of that came from one of the cowboys players. Who posted a tweet strongly implied or said that marcus paul had died and they were praying for him and they hope that he was watching over them. And and that sort of thing Tmz reported at ten forty six yesterday morning pacific time. of course. it's two hours. That marcus paul in fact is not dead former new york giants offensive. Linemen tweeted rest in peace coach. Paul you'll be missed so there was a lot of confusion.

React Native at Airbnb with Gabriel Peal
"So do you have any advice for people regarding react native so who should use react native. Who should not use react native. Or i don't mean to make you prescriptive. Maybe you just want to talk about specific strategic decisions but can you help people vet this technology. Yes so this is the golden question. Should i use reacting overnight. And i refuse to give specific. You should use your acne over. You shouldn't but this is what i would say. First of all doing reactnative does not preclude you from ever having to do native android or iowa's so there will unless you hire people who explicitly how to do that. Just be aware that if you do native you will need to jump into andrew s fairly frequently depending on what you're doing and the second one is that when reactnative works it is amazing like i saw we had a couple of teams that had really good experiences with reactive and the productivity and the speed with which they are able to move was like simply off the charts like between hot module reloading which actually works. Reliably you right line of code and shows up on android and ios in like one or two seconds. I think that's really incredible. But would you wind up with. Is these what. I call land mines so everything is going swimmingly. Well and then you hit a little landmine. So i'll give you an example of one We had one instance where sometimes on certain phones even in particular. The pixel was particularly notable for this randomly. We didn't feel like we had made any significant changes. We one out of ten times or so already. Screens would render white. They would never render. And we didn't know what everything seemed. Fine it was initialising. It was hitting the java script but it just simply wouldn't show up on the screen and we're pulling our hair out trying to reproduce reliably figure out what is going on and after i would say a solid week of multiple engineers going heads down trying to figure out what was going on. We discovered that we had removed the initialisation of fresco so frisco is react natives image lending library load images from a network airbnb we glide which is basically. It's a similar library but instead of using theirs we've always used glide and so we just wrapped the image tag in reactnative with our own image view but the reactive library has fresco out of the box and so we we had that included. All we did was removed. Initialisation of that and randomly caused uncertain funds some screens to never under native to this day. We have no idea what the connection was but it spent multiple engineers officer had to spend like an entire week trying to figure out how to make this work again. he's it was released blocker in screens. Were simply not rendering. So this is this is really really bad other issues like the keyboard thing that i mentioned. I think you're like oh. It's just a simple form and you made you. You write the components of the four men like an hour and then you spend two weeks trying to make it. Scroll above the keyboard so things like that are really really difficult for us because it makes it really hard to forecast how long things take or you. End up giving up Even though it's technically possible to make do you want. The amount of effort is to to figure out how to solve. Landmine is not worth the investment.
