Three went to the plate and it comes down it in and it hit Longoria on the foot. Ouch! She heard him Yelp. I think he's all right. He drops his Shin Guard. I mean, he's all right in that. I don't think he's seriously hurt, but he's hurting. Back foot curveball, literally right on the it didn't even make the back foot and hit him on the front toe before it got to the back foot. Ouch! So it is base runner for the Giants to start the inning, but the hard way here's Brandon Crawford. Crawford hit with the bases loaded and one out in the third inning and hit into a double play, hit the ball hard, but right into the defense on the ground. He has not had much success against Kyle Friedland in his career. He's faced him a lot to hits 22 at bats. He swings and misses here at a fastball strike one profit at a big game yesterday in a big series against the Dodgers. Cal Freeland sort of got his number. You figure at some point that might change. Crawford's typically more than holds his own against left handed pitching. Freeland doesn't dominate left handers. No. One Crawford swings and misses and he chased way off the inside their strike to Brandon's not seeing the ball very well. Maybe that's just the secret against this guy. For some reason, he doesn't and then pick the ball up. Mhm. Behind 02 Freeland throws and a curve ball struck him out swinging. One out for Cairo. Estrada enter for your chance to win $25,000 in the fifth inning of Giants home game this season if the Giants hit a grand slam in.

"That's 855 to 1 to four, CBS. Top of the hour you'll hear from Ron Rivera and Dwayne Haskins after the second year quarterback was cut from the Washington roster early on Monday. We're also going to Do our initial dive into the college football playoff, which comes up on Friday and then Cynthia Freeland will join us 25 minutes from now NFL network. Data science math genius. She's awesome. The fact that she can Spell it out so plainly and explain it to the lay people. Those of us out here in the football universe who don't process stats the way that she does. She's one of our favorite guest, and it's really cool to be able to wrap 2021 of our last shows with her not to mention she gave me a fantasy football home, so I appreciate that. So Cynthia Friedland coming up next hour here on CBS Sports Radio, Let's talk to Amos, who's in Tennessee. Welcome to the show. Didn't say me. Thank you for taking my call here. Welcome home. For me. The best thing about football in 2020 is the real life watching. History being made with Tom Brady and your Greystone back and forth with the, UM, touchdown record. And I think that's real important to appreciate in real time because it's not one of these two point in the future that there's gonna be a time where we don't have these guys. And, um, you know, it's real important to me. Not be taken for granted, and also watching Philip Burgers and been waffle surgery on a tail into their careers. It was real fun to watch them go at it this past Sunday, and you can already kind of see that. Hill of Rivers is kind of that quarterback that goes to a different team. And I think with every generation you have one of those And also, I don't want it to get lost in the loss. But congratulations to that. Ryan, who moved into fifth all time. In the touch. Career passing yards. Yeah, We got a good crop of veteran quarterbacks. You said there's one every generation, but we actually have to because Brady in this current crop because Brady left New England and is now succeeding with Tampa, and you mentioned Philip Rivers, starting his career over again from San Diego slash l. A to Indianapolis and I don't know what's gonna happen with him in the future, But I certainly know he and Frank, right have a great relationship, and Frank has been really Complimentary of the football that Philip has played in 2020. So I would agree with you about wanting to savor every last star in every last minute with these guys because we won't have the brown forever. I still feel that way. I still miss seeing Brett Farve play and I know he retired and came back and retired and came back. But I was thrilled every time he did change his mind. I miss seeing Peyton Manning play. Peyton was a generational quarterback as well. Future Hall of Famer. I still Miss Curt Warner. These are Guys that really help to shape the NFL along the way and get it to where it is now on. I know that we will miss Brady and will miss Drew Brees. I came but imagine the NFL without Drew Brees. But there's a chance this could be the last time the last play offs that we see with him since he has another job waiting. So you make a good point. You don't know what you've got until it's gone, But I do want to make sure I don't miss these these final years, year or years of the special quarterbacks. Right now misspoke Met Ryan was actually ate all time in the career. Passing yards is real interesting that those quarterbacks that you just mentioned three rivers. Brady and Rachael's burger are right there with him. So Yeah, it's just It's just a Super Bowl ring needed missing, and I hope that Matt Ryan can get that one day so that we can have conversations like you know, we have with breeze and Brady and Ben Roethlisberger's, You Know all time greats. I appreciate that, Amos for certain they have shaped football. Not just in 2020, but going back the last 20 years. Thank you. So much for your call. Happy New Year to you. Thank you so much for taking my call. 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. What's the best thing about football in 2020 Appreciate your tweets. Dustin says The bills are the best thing about 2020. And he's referring to Josh Allen. The guy has the biggest arm in the NFL, he says. That's right bigger than Mahomes. That's debatable. However, They certainly do both. Have these niches carved out for themselves with Buffalo and with Kansas City, Arthur says the best thing about football in 20 twenties of the playoffs are coming. And Derrick Henry. Too bad They want cubes to be MVPs Nowadays, I don't know who they are, but We'll ask Cynthia Vreeland for sure about the M V P conversation. Justin says the fact that John the Giants could win the NFC East where the record of six and 10 go big blue. So the best thing about football in 2020. Well, it depends on your perspective, Of course, right, But I love the fact that it's never the same. From one year to the next. We always have teams go from worst to first, we generally have teams go from first to worst. We see the playoffs roughly turn over about half the teams every year. And when you think about what we've already got in this postseason, we know that the bills are a F C East champions. For the first time in 25 years, we know the Steelers are back in the playoffs. And they've won the north and are potentially going to be either the two or the three seed. We know that the Washington football team the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants are also alive for the East Division title. It was the Eagles who wanted a year ago. They're the only team it's been eliminated, so will turn over again. How about the Bears? Taking themselves from death's door to a potential playoff spot where they control their own destiny. The tape of Bay Buccaneers first time in 13 years we're waiting to see about the Rams and the Cardinals. By the way, if you didn't hear the report, Jared Goff did have film surgery to stabilize his broken right thumb and Likely will not be available for weeks. 17. Okay, so This will get more from Shah McVeigh as move forward, But if you can imagine surgery on a broken thumb would leave him unable to throw coming up a few days from now there's a lot of quarterback news that we will sift through and sort through, but a big move by Ron Rivera at the tail end of his first year in Washington, he cuts Quarterback that was just drafted in the top 10? No in the top 15 year ago, man, how quickly life and time can change. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio like to explain something, you know. I put you I got what you call like. Relax, brain, but I ain't punchy. You know, it's just the way I talk here..

"And Crawford is in the second with a double. That gives him six R B eyes. The Giants have three different hitters with six R B eyes in this game indeed, and a 20 to 2 lead at that point. And three hitters with six R B eyes in the same game that is a major league record. It had never been done before. Until tonight, the first of September 2020 In the year of the pandemic, Jax would get one more run when Du Bon hit a double bringing Crawford home and that point it was a 23 to 2 lead for the Giants, and the final would be 23 to 5. Giants. They equal the all time San Francisco Giants records with 23 runs on 27 hits the old New York Giants before they came to And brought major league baseball to the West Coast with the Dodgers had had a game with 26 runs our way back when And back in the 19th century, The New York Giants had a game with 29 runs in 18 87 those of the all time Giants franchise records. So the Giants win it 23 to 5. Gausman gets the win, and now they've got another ballgame and think truly, to turn this into something special. I need a win tomorrow as they would head home, but they'll be up against the Rockies best. The left hander Kyle Friedland, who helped the Rockies beat the Giants back in August, the last time the jacks were in town. That was on the sixth of August and Friedland got the best of Tyler Anderson. The Iraqis got to the Giantsbullpen. Late in the game, The Giants put three runs on the board against Friedland and actually had the lead against him. Until the Rockies made a comeback with a big seventh inning rally in that game, so we'll see how it turns out tomorrow. Logan Webb, who gotta win in Denver, the only Giants win the last time they were there back in August, the fifth We'll go for the Giants 12 11th pitch by the way that we want to go now for the hit of the game. And I think we will have to go with Dickerson's third home run first three homer game of his career. And with that hit, Alex Dickerson will pick up a $100 gift card from Pig in a pickle..

They trail to tow one Branded B Lack is saying Could we go back and say that was Ball four? I learned the reason for that comment If you weren't with us last night on a 30 pitch, home plate umpire Rob Drake Ah Called a strike on Ah, a pitch that looked to be out of the strike zone. It'll lead to our second point coming up in a few moments, but in typical Trevor Fashion. Mike didn't release say much, You know, maybe a little facial expression and that was about it. And he said, Okay, you want me to get another pitch? Fine. Yeah. After the game, he said, Yeah, I thought I thought I walked on that pitch. But and that was pretty much all Trevor says he's understated. And he kind of made the Astros pay on. You know, later in the F at one of the things that Mike alluded to, with the outset, he around Rocky's countdown, Kyle Friedland and how he overcame The two runs that the Astros scored with a two out rally in the first inning, one of the things that folks will hear from Rocky's manager, but black During Rocky's on deck coming up in a little while. The fact that Kyle freely and there are a lot of intense competitors on this team, but ah Kay Frizzle might be as intense is any of Yeah, is he really is something he Call him what you want The bulldog, You know, grit of fighter, tough, all of those things and he compete, and that's why I think when we heard Kyle as spring training was starting saying, Oh, I will have a season like I did two years ago. Last year was an aberration. Part ofyou said. Okay, well, I got to see it. But the other parties like know know he will because that's just his nature to be that competitive, competitive and almost tow will himself To being a great player. Well, I'm firmly convinced for a lot of different factors that competitive fire played against him as the 2019 season spiraled away from him a little bit. I think the baseball had an impact. Some of the minor injuries that he had also impacted on his efforts last year, and then he just kept going. You know, I got to figure this out, and things got worse and worse, but he He took the deep breath, got himself, write it in the off season and as we Were ableto watch again last night from Houston, one of the best things about Kyle Freeland. Besides, his competitive drive is the fact when he needs to get a ground ball. He can get one. Right handed batter and the pitch from Freeland Chopper to the left side. Nolan has it goes to make man it's second for one on the first for the double play,.

We had just moved into the city back in Chicago. And we are going to get like a snack late at night. We lived in the loop, which is like the main area of Chicago. Everybody's there during the day. But nobody's there at night. Like, nobody. And we're just probably two in the morning walking. He had his bike is walking his bike next to me. And I was just on foot and like this do screws his past us and like right when he's about to pass us clocks, my friend in the face. He goes down his bike lands on me. We're both just confused. Wouldn't even know what happened we kind of get up and he had scurried away at this point. But it was just like, you know, probably a crackhead or something Jim we do the same exact thing where you're like. What do we do tell the ops? Like, then the cops drove by. And we explain the situation to them and had the weirdest conversation with them with just like, would you? Okay. Would you do the guy now is like what do you mean? We didn't do and they're like like, basically the conversation. We had was like they thought that we like beat the guy to death. And that's what they're going to. Yeah. And then they're like, we're like are you gonna look from or something like, yeah. But you look you look for him. But if you do do you need. Do just come find us. We'll take care of its now's like, and then they sped off. And we're like those cops just tell us to like go kill this guy. Yeah. Cover it up Chicago's fucked, and then we went home. Yeah. That was like what the fuck Chicago's where they did that like entrapment scheme where they put like a free pair of Jordans on the streets and like picked it up. They'd be like, you're stealing. Yeah. Yeah. But it's from the floor. It's not stealing. Yeah. Like has his string. Yeah. Yeah. Brings them. Married with children all Bundy had a dollar on a fishing line. He had like he didn't wanna fuck his wife, even though she she had like big titties and was hot kind of. And he was like oh come on. Don't make me. Fuck you. That was the whole concept of that show is that he was just he's beaten down the life that he hates me shoe shoe salesman, who's a shoe salesman. Yeah. Who was a high school football star? Yeah. All of those shows they had like weird jobs that like a child with tank of. And then there was a there was a bootleg married with children on WBZ called happily ever after with that girl.
