"Be loud jazz. Warm let's go kick some bulldogs but and with that. The pep rally was over and the students went about their normal covid school day as the afternoon rolled around band members signed out of their. Google classrooms put on their uniforms and piled into buses to drive to ratliff stadium for the game. This was the same stadium. Friday night lights was filmed in where that night. The odessa high broncos would play the midland bulldogs. The game had started by the time the band arrived and they made their way into the stadium and took their spot in the stands at the twenty yard line. They set themselves up to play songs to cheer on the football team as they played. Everyone was excited. When odessa made the first touchdown of the night a twenty yard run into the end zone by the quarterback but the bulldogs caught up quickly and by the end of the first. Half what we're losing. It wasn't looking good and then it was time for what the band had been preparing for.

"Because joanna chose to be remote for everything else online. School is very very stressful. But i love ben so much. She couldn't imagine not returning for band. It's the only consistent time she sees her friends. Oh and it's the only time she interacts in a meaningful way with a teacher in person other. God bless i've missed our band. I don't think they're saying that right now unless you're logging. He's he's the coolest person you'll ever meet we are. He's really funny jokes around the law. He's he's made an impact on everybody especially on the jimmy. Hart you hey good. We're doing good awesome. Sorry about my hair and need a haircut ladies you like a hawk. Thank god yeah. Yeah look better when it's when it's cut right. Yeah mr laggy or jimmy has been teaching on the band for the last twenty five years he runs. The part is a team. That's sort of like the beating heart of any marching band like you got to put up the based on getting out and entered the online. These guys boy. They put bedroom on and they think they're gods gift to this earth unlike other teachers this year. Who are struggling to get to know. Their students. Over google hangouts with patchy connections. Jimmy has known his drumline for years. Thomas chose thomas jarvis. And i'm no for doing stupid stuff. This kit is my clown offen-. He's been helping them get ready for the drumline since middle school My is zachary zachary. Boo is my senior. I'm known for like been the one that's always messing around. When he speaks he speaks. So darn loud. Because we're always going zach. Why are you yelling. why yelling. oh. I'm sorry i didn't know. They were brawley that he knows their families and their back stories. John alex is very soft. Spoken very quiet. Young man known as the shy guy in the van basically owner abilities and what they need to get better when he plays he looks down a lot so i'm always on him to get his head up to look out at the crowd and so forth. We were all excited a couple years ago when he finally got a girlfriend. We're like oh my gosh gay. Good for you you know. Hopefully that will open you up. Get you talking more. And so forth a man of few words. Jimmy sees band as a way to show kids what they're capable of. Even when the rest of life is hard. I want them to learn how to work hard. And continue striving pushing themselves so that they could have a better life than what maybe they have now. Students can feel it this year. While half of the students at odessa high school chose not to come back in person and nearly a third of the band took the season off. Every single member of the drumline decided to return to the band in person. I really enjoy the family that we have made here. We spend time together and we mostly everyone's your family your go home. I'm tired of seeing these kids. Then these are the kinds of connections. The district was hoping to maintain when it brought back extracurriculars. We met with our school and our administrators. Were like look and you figure out something to do so that the kids are still participating and also have a little something to present at a football game but the plan they came up with was a shell of a typical season there would be no regional competition to look forward to note division one trophy to claim all that was left the halftime performances at the football games and as a covid precaution. It was decided that the band would only play at home games. That's when we need okay looking at our schedule while we only have four home games. Why why is that worth the risk. Like with only four games to to prepare for and to play at. Why is it worth having the marching at all. Well we still have a job to do. there's a lot of kids who really love this. Some of them really need this. We knew we had to keep them involved and we wanted to a plan. Something to work towards. I mean some some of these kids.

"A good job. Then i know it's not as apparent in season three. You still kinda got us a little bit arrogant and that he was a little bit you know. I guess the word is like stuck up and it was really nice to that. I think he played that really. Good character Us able to sell the transition of his character from the strait laced very focused character to eventual spoiled brat who is complete trust fund kid with no sense of responsibility and it was really nice. Think germany did a great job playing the transition and also do agree arrogant behavior that eventually was to become of his character. And i didn't see some three overall had those moments where you didn't even think these characters acting you thought these characters were living the life they had use also last season where we did see law. The main stars which was very nice will also really enjoyed this too. Because we've actually got to see the moving on with their lives at sarasota. I think it's a really good ending. Youtube because eventually proves you the better of the two. While while i agree that jd. Mccoy's not better quarterback in terms of objective skill. Matt saracen has the leadership and all the important qualities you need in terms of morally good quarterback and ella something i really liked from the sean action really wondering who inspired the character of. I guess you could say j court and paul. That concludes Analysis of friday night lights. And we're probably talking about moving next time. We're not sure which. One will figure that out soon but i was really really really enjoyed bringing crap on friday lights. We watch it again sometime in the future. And i recommend you check it out because this show is definitely warm. That very much influenced future sports shows of the same thing. I always the reason. Why americans really showing even even if they of are different that they have Football all i friday. They very much fleet glimpse into. I guess you know football shows in general and just giving us east opportunities to watch these shows and i've enjoyed friday lights a lot. It's a great show with really fun football sequences if they are a bit inaccurate sometimes with the announcers yards and all that it sometimes a little bit like okay this is all improbable but i think it more than makes up for it because the on football on on the field games not the most important aspect of the show and overall really good football show it definitely think is one of the most impactful. Because you know who's in that period were social media was popular social media can really you know negatively influence. Kind of show ends congressman last. You two thousand show we ever got and that was really nice or this podcast episode. I will probably be doing more guest stars. So we have new sued Listening take care the snow some rain who acts..

"Cool thing to see and i think that's one of the one of the best arts of that the she's informed by far just that hormone of just who is go. Now go back to the coach. Eric taylor and tammy taylor there were a few e subplots than did kinda push me away from the show and think. Wow this is really good. This is not my favorite. It was one involving a coworker. "The movie actor here. So we're gonna be talking about it on tv. show promise. Movies are coming back as well as quality again. We know they. Jim section so this podcast talk show that i think kinda resonates with a lot of today's shows that you see most of them you know not being It is a show that really will surprise. I came out like in the late. Two thousand two thousand ten back when so she was on the climb but it wasn't like the main thing you'd see in every tv show in friday night lights very unique for that. It's very neat for being the period where usually see kids all the time texting on instagram. Even though there was that presence of phones but it was still a very grounded story so this shows friday lights. Like i said what are you asking. What is friday lights. Mytalk mullick some friday night concert. Hello now it's football. Show bow really. It's about a bunch of characters because about their performance on and off the field. As well as i guess is school high schools in there but only for like a bit but nikolai shows mostly about dealing with the struggles as an everyday football player as well as maybe stuff at home. That's been one of the biggest teams like kneeling with apple issues. That something that kind of is very worried about friday night lights. It's not a lot about football as much. I think maybe the first first three seasons maybe are about football and to an extent because they follow the game of football. So of course. They're going to be seeing those games being played out. But i didn't the more the show continued the more kind of realized you shouldn't really be focusing on the football. Let's talk about the care. Talk within and there's a lot of really good i guess character perform or the happen on the show. They're just really really well done for the most part. I think really made this show. It isn't in many ways on. Consider this to be one of the best sports. Tv shows up seeing maybe one of the most influential because this didn't have a big audience growing up. It didn't really get many viewers outta loyal following. But it didn't really have like you know breaking bad members but even today like you still see shit eat only really see that show very much in the conversation then though it is really well made. I definitely think it's not a show that does is really talk about enough because you got shows like all american which is really good. Her really great things on that show is removed football show in the same way. I guess reign of friday night lights. But i really think friday nights had this very special feeling of i guess i don't really know the word but it really had a really special feeling about it in the way that it's acted directed just shot. It really felt very of its own and it was something. I really enjoy watching. The first time. I saw this which was about march nagel. I binged all five seasons with ads of course ornament episodes. But i'm not complaining. There's literally what are hundred episodes of this show. It's amalgamated so i'm really. I am kind. Nawfal the impact. It's had. I really truly think it did do a lot. I think for football shows especially the sport football because we know football's number one sport in america. We know that it's popular but also dangerous. We also know risky. It is but we also know how much it brings people together how much it celebrated becomes basically in part of the lives of people play. It's like literally part of the townspeople. That was on that really interesting about mao. Friday night lights also showed how the townspeople were so hyped up about football how they were so into it. And this is about a very fictional town thing in this case in texas which is a very popular place for football. And i mean that's another reason why the shows are special does take place in a very good setting for football. The town is very very serious about football. Which does played its own art until the plot and many moments. And it's actually a really interesting start because the team that you see. The beginning is a very overpowered very strong team. There are many ways like a gary stew of a character but on the whole team here so indestructible. You wouldn't think that no team could beat them. Well this show completely flipped the script. Quoting johnny lonestar by literally injury. The star quarterback it kills the character who is loved by everyone as a loving girlfriend. You know we've seen this before but it's done a little bit more. I guess you could say straightforward and right off the bat where the star quarterback. He gets injured in very per season the very first episode as their body. Get into their. Big game coaches in there under eric taylor is the main character of the show. He is the guy we mostly follow and yet he's really the guy who just keeps the glue the show together and what we really see is a very interesting verse episode because not only do we have a guy who obviously is well loved but then gets injured. We have the backup key step in under pressure. He's very much a straight-laced Underdog or you know like that character kind of comes out of nowhere to save the day knowledge. Today's market a more like a the emerging light person. The more promising character. I guess you could say then. You be powell. These kind of care is going around with their issues in their. You know their strengths. And it's really really well illustrated economy already sense of their personalities and the big premise of the show. All it does change with every season is very much about getting to the season while also trying to help the problems of the players off the field. And that is where the character of tammy taylor played by convert comes into play candy. Taylor's more voice of reason in the shows he's very much a very. I guess not really rowdy but you know she's the more honest more. Open the more approachable character in the show. We kind of follow her character a lot. More less for the football lot more understanding for being able to help others than you kind of realize that with tammy character. She's very much only likes to help. People figure out their problems and once again. That's kinda where like we talk about like helping the football players off because she's a guidance counselor and then she ends show as eventual dean. But we'll talk about later. So basically she's a guidance counselor who helps out these kids or the teenagers and solve whatever problems they're dealing with in life and get each character by like that's gonna take a while so. I'm just trying to summarize. this premise. And go through. Each character won't buy once he got. Jason streaky slowly. Kinda becomes away from the story. But basically he's star quarterback injured all of a sudden suggested. He's news us. Circumstances as a wheeled or physically handicapped person who no longer play football. Ever gonna wonder how the citizen not only does it affect his romances effects. His friendships effects. Basically everything.

Is i wish we can separate our fandome for certain artists celebrities but too many of us. Don't you know what i mean. Even we're saying. I've been stopped when anything has to say outside of music. I basically put him on mute relationship. You know what he's you know. he's a good father. Let me not do that because he knows what he's doing on all right anything else. Anything bigger investment. No no no. He's not go to stay away from him. I said what do go right right here. We go so. That's what you gotta understand when people search based yeah. He's coming at it from his point of view and his pockets. And what he's affecting. You know what i mean. So he still like. It's so unfair certain level. He's been in that rich and see was twelve. He's saying so. How can why did we put. Why don't people put value in certain people who are not a part of the life you're out on boats we own both climb you know man. But that's why. I think to myself like how can how could he really just because like. We said like he's been rich and he was twelve like. When did you really have tom understand that you were in like that level of so. You're saying that part of his development. When would it have happened. Good point this is the win win. Think about the rollout. Token rollout threatening. We're talking about a two thousand dollar check. in february. a lot of people filing taxes getting tax returns. So that'll be up. Team thousands more jordan stock by the go right so that's true but on top of that a lot of people who work for corporate america out of the bonuses. Come come out around his time. Eighteen hundred previous he because eighteen. Ti bones users come out in march shutout family I know today. Tell him too. Many people business anyway. The point is there's a lot of money that's why we rolling out into the spring bonus list come on man way too many questions still using. At and t. styles with up brand new man then working in the building. Yo so anyway. My point is if people planet right right. Some people Can bankroll nice. Yeah yeah so so. Jays flash flash means like twenty five dollars a month to buy their flat screens. Why is it that every black friday and every tax time how many. Tv's y'all guide your house. You want to do this because we talking about black talking about twenty room. But i mean i'd say black people numerous people who normally normally are making less than say two median. So they're in the looking glass. Oh when it comes to inca graduate only what did you do. Nothing televisions do you unique. That's what i was gonna say so. I used to be the same way actually at the same head seventeen. No i never did that. So i don't watch tv like this anyway. So this is my point. I don't this is my focus. Talked to somebody else. Had a point out to me. And i kind of went a little bit deeper with it after i thought about it for some people who only make certain amount of money. Lack friday is one of the few times a year that they have access to those type of luxury purchases. You make ten to thirteen dollars an hour right Even at thirteen dollars an hour. That's twenty grand. That's still way below the poverty. Some quick yes yes. I've been listening talking. Numbers come on my skin in the gang. Listen smokes. I did quit how this is a quick thing. Go on average. If you wanna find somebody new income our hourly pay and multiply by two magic. So if you make our like j. fresh about hundred grand a year let me hold some jay. That's it man. I wish so. That's that's the quick math So how many times we get to. How many times country you win bro. i'm just asking play. Dj catholic.

"I have seen a few of a few brawls in high school I saw a few fistfights and even some fights that involved weapons like a lead pipe maybe not specifically but something of that Dowdy. I've seen people get messed up. I I had to assume if I was in this situation. I'm not loading the GUY's body into my car and trying to drive him to the hospital because that's that's what you're led to believe they were doing initially is that they were picking up his body and they were trying to drive him to the hospital today realized he was dead. You're just calling nine one one right like you're just immediately calling nine. You're not why would they try to beat the ambulance? That was my hope. Pigtails like I don't know like cellphones are around in the time. This is a cellphone right. Like cell phones were around. Call run into the gas station. It'd be like hey yeah I just. It's a twice ahead with this metal bar and he's not breathing so we need to call ambulance. And why does it? Convenience store have just type slang by the trash man. Yeah no idea no idea but also like if you go if you go into the gas station and you're like hey there was a man. He tried to assault this girl. I'm with like I need an I hit him over the head with you. Know whatever this this metal bar. He punched me. Yeah he punched me. He punched me. He was trying to assault this girl that I was with. I I need to use your phone. Call Nine one one and call the police like reasonable that that would be. I think the reasonable thing to do but no less load him up into our car not tell a soul and you know worked seventeen years old seventeen eighteen years old. And we're GONNA take this door grip now. Okay Song Glad that you are skeptical of all this going on as I am because I feel like I'm about to Kinda ruined this scene. And this is an on shockingly man. I'm going to go and ruin. This is going to be a big plot point for a while. Oh really murder plot for a while. So I- rewound it and we watched it after I kind of went through the first the first time through it so landry comes out of the convenience store at this point. The guy's already all over tyra so lady with the door open. Here's tirade yelling right so first off. There's an outside chance. Maybe not that the person inside the store working the counter could also here tire. But let's assume they can't give them the best of the doubt later yells. Hey Hey get off over while he's still holding the door so he's standing in the doorway yelling. Hey Hey off and takes US sprinting. I I have to assume that whoever just took landry's money at the cash register had to have seen landry or heard Landry yell. Hey Hey get off of her and then sprint into the parking lot right. Yes and it's not the least bit. Okay so the this employee at the gas station. He's not the least bit concerned at all. Like that doesn't make you curious a little bit of what's going on or he's just like this is a Tuesday night man. It's none of my business like I'm I'm just here. I'm at work in a stitches. Stitches Bro Exactly. This is not my business. I'm not Horace Grant. I'm not selling Michael here. I'm just GONNA keep my mouth shut. None of my this exactly so do you. They cleaned up the blood off the parking lot. Or do you think they weren't worried about it. No I don't I don't think so at all loaded up. They weren't thinking clearly like I was talking. They didn't call the ambulance. They didn't call anybody they didn't call the cops call anybody. I don't think they had the clear thought to be like. Oh we should clean up the blood. Yeah so one day Matt Burden you be married and you'll be going through something similar and the first year of marriage you'll be you'll feel like you have to watch everything with your spouse like give your spouse's watching TV show. You should watch with them. Eventually you'll learn that you can just go into a different room and watch something else. But there'll be some awkwardness early on my wife and I are now. Pass that awkwardness where she's wanting to watch bones. Which is show that truth? I don't care for a whole lot in watching Friday night lights. We'll just be in different rooms and my wife is always kind of out like watch. Has she seen me watch this show before? She's never totally gotten it and she's always kind of made fun of it this time. She has been kind of keeping up with me right like she's been watching the show because we're in court and she's working from home and so she's just kind of doing her work while we're in the same room and now she's keeping up her. She was asking me about the blood on the payment thing as well and her idea. Tell me this crazy is that they use the coke they bought it just like obviously didn't get rid of it but instead of it being puddle just right there in the middle like they kind of washed it and spread it around with the soda. They bought in the convenience store. Does that sound plausible? Okay that does sound plausible. That does yeah. They open cracked. Open the twenty ounce Pepsi dumped it on the bloods kind of spread out. Yeah I can see okay. Okay okay so yeah okay. I do like that. We'll we'll go with that theory. The old coke over the blood tricks. Okay here's the other portion of this. I guess we just have to take it. Face value is that tyra immediately realizes that he's dead while she was she's driving the car because for whatever reason Landry's in the back like holding him like that's going to do well later. He's in the back holding the body entire driving. The car and Landry guesses the paying attention to where they're going. And so I. I mean outside of going to the hospital. She immediately be lines for a river. Like if I'm Landry my first thought is Oh my God. Have you done this before? I don't have the whole thing was just. I didn't get it. I didn't get it all. I don't know well they can go into the river. He wasn't going to the hospital at all was she. Yeah and I'm not going to go ahead and tell anybody how to dump a body but if I was like I don't know if I was going to dump a body in a river on a bridge. I would turn my headlights. Yes you try to be as discreet as possible. Absolutely also create me if I'm wrong. River didn't look deep. No that looks like a river. That's kind of overflow rain for a few days it looks like a glorified like Creek. Yup and you have to rock the rock like poking like you have to assume that they have watched the Sopranos. I guess because they would know that you tie a rock to the body so it holds it down otherwise he's just GonNa float just GonNa Float floater. We got a floater. We got a floater. Shout out to the one outside. I don't know which is crazy to me. The sixteen year old sleeping with the thirty five year old neighbor or the fact that two seventeen year olds committed a murder and hit a body but both of those being in a TV show about football team is just hilariously. Ten out of ten unpredictable. My wife is just staggered that all this has been worked in. I would say I would say the murderers definitely crazy and then Tim riggins that stallion pleasing with the thirty five year old neighbor so towards the end of episode to landry as a little random subplot has joined the football team. I guess clout that Matt has got his made him a little. Bit Jealous. He's aside. He's GonNa play football and he gets rally girl and she says something along the lines of. I'm here for whatever you need. Do you have any questions and Linda looks? This poor girl the is it says are all humans capable of evil of whatever reason that I know. I know it's coming from a dark place for him but just the thought of like saying go high school girl. You're just that's hilarious that you're opening question tyra standing right there so tire. He's dealing with a lot. But if I just watched a guy committed murder helped me dump a body in the next day. He says something like are all humans capable of evil. I think I'm now scared of him. He is having a crazy moral battle going on this. No doubt he doesn't know what's going on. But for good reason he the guy so kill It's such a crazy thing. Okay so I'm glad I also. I was really worried that I was going to slip in like give that away before we got here like I was GonNa Make Landry. Kills a Guy Joke like at some point in the prior episode? I'm glad I made it all the way to here and I hadn't said anything. I'm proud of myself. I'm glad I'm glad. Thank you in Chris. Parish loyal listener of this just ruined something for me on twitter so Chris is okay I forgive you oh yeah damn you but also come on Man Matt Matt. Burton over here is catching all this. It's like it's airing on cable for the first time okay. Let's talk about. Let's talk about the football team. They've been kind of get out of here. The other amine. I'll just briefly. Go over the center going. I know there is important. A Jewish Taylor's the worst daughter to ever exist. Obviously she's jealous of the newborn baby because Miss Taylor has a kid in the span of these three episodes. Yeah but Julie Falls in love with some guy from Sweden. They change from somebody speaks like perfectly. Yeah is Swedish lives in America. My whole thing with Yuli. She's a horrible. A girlfriend in a horrible honor. Yes yes but my whole thing is like if she wanted to like fall in love with a singer in India Bam. She should just moved off them. Oh my gosh you're so right right. I mean seriously like what's thank you. The singer in a terrible Dan like just moved to Austin there. The diamond doesn't down there. No doubt and the bigger problem here with me is that you know. This is from season the indices in want to the start of season two. It's supposed to be eight months so I know that's a lot of time but like at the indices in one. She is losing her mind because she's in love with Matt Saracen and she does not want to move to Austin and then at the start of season one eight months later she still dating Matt but like very willing to cheat on him at any moment's notice yes. She Matt thinks they're still dating. Julia definitely not still dating that. Jewish temple dating matinee anymore. So.

"Just like what Mrs Taylor pulls up and he goes. Hey Hey Mrs. Because their business go on his. He's so flustered. He doesn't know what he's frazzled. Go Miss Taylor should've known in that moment that? Hey WHOA WHOA. Whoa go coach coach Taylor. Also though obviously later Miss Taylor tells coach about you know seeing that buying condoms and I legitimately want to like write down to keeping my pocket in case I have a daughter up the road. He said if I swear if he touches a hair on her head. She's going straight to a nunnery to another. That is That's great stuff. Their coaches coaches fire on all cylinders. Here it is perfect and then Julie when she was talking to tyra sorry. I'm all over the place here but Julie when you listen to podcasts. Bro. We're always all over the place man. No Difference Yeah. That's for sure we should be He she with her. She tells tyrone that she wants to have sex with Matt and she called collecting data. I want to collect as that was. Is that what the kids are calling nowadays? Dude I I had no idea what to even vaguely make of that. I'm going to like like like how would you? You would never say that to persons when she come back to my place. I can collect some data. What no you would never ever say that to a person on I just. I didn't even understand her motivations at the time. I still don't totally understand her motivations of why she was so adamant about having sex other than the fact that she thought she didn't do it Matt will break up with her. I guess I don't I don't know I don't know if we really got clarity on. I don't think I don't think she thinks that Sarah and we'll break up with her. We'll maybe after the hot have Internet. I think Julie I think really knows that. She's in firm control of of this relationship. All right so let's Let's rush through Jason and then we'll get out of here first off. Jason is going to miss his final Olympic tryouts. For the paraplegic sport. Team there to go to Beijing which is cool. Miss Taylor wrote this show really is underestimating the Olympics. Like when they when someone says. I'm going to go try out for the Olympics. I don't care what is before after that word. I think we should all take them at their word and tell them to go do it. Yeah go ahead And so then when Jason is checking in down in Austin and she's like she asked him some questions wish I wrote it down she. The chicken woman asks her a question. Like oh your name or something like that and he goes. I don't have. I don't really have time for this so you could just hurry up and get this done so I can get out there to practice. And she looks at me because it's a question on the form like a great great great such an inch. I really don't have time for small talk big. I need to court okay. So the most unbelievable part of this show so far and I'm sure we'll top IT. So he made he meets. Jason meets the Tattoo ours named Suzy and obviously he is getting a Tattoo and San script which I never understood. People Getting Tattoos and languages. They can't read but neither here nor there so he gets a tattoo susie while she's talking about being a tattoo ours. She shows him her tattoos and she says that she did them herself. Which I off tattooing yourself is not common like that is very very hard to do. But let's go and give Susie the benefit of the desert. She tattooed herself. The tattoos are on her shoulders. No way no chance someone who knows how does she like even with like surrounded by mirrors like everything like like I just. I don't think so maybe I mean I don't know I don't have any tattoos so I can't speak on it but I would think it would be incredibly hard. I mean it'd be impossible. That is just an impossibility. There's no way that would ever happen. And I was I rewind that scene twice to make sure. She said that she did them herself. Because I was so bamboozled by how that even possibly made it into the script. Just a big with everything with my friend. Over-dramatize can't believe it. I complimented the writing earlier and now I'm taking it away. Now they're back to net neutral. No positive negatives you hear that you got to win. It's back gotta want us back all right last thing I've written down. In truthfully my favorite part of all three of these episodes. Even though it's only like ten minutes Bo. The kid who lives next door to Tim Riggins is just the man. He is just the cost. What a Guy. What a Guy. I remember being young and not positive optimistic. Man He is. He is so funny and so cute and like the Tim's doing teaching them how to show a foot throw a football and like Egypt doesn't listen to a word that Tim says he just goes back to screaming down set hut as lousy. That's that's every kid ever and then when his mom comes to pick him up and he says I approve football skills today by fifty percent like ooh toxic. This a little kid. He's breaking down the barriers. That that Tim Riggins has has put up though Miller. What a kid big Bowl Miller Fan. Big Big like it brings me back to like Like running basketball camps. Like in high school mcgann. You'd always get one or two kids. That are just just so cool. And you're like all right. You're a cool kid. I wish nothing but oh yeah you're not here. You'RE NOT OUT HERE. Just terrorizing everything. No you're spot on Bro. That is actually. I had not thought about being a sponsor baseball camps in a long time. But you're absolutely right OPRAH ALL RIGHT. Ma'am well that's all I got. I missed anything. Just wanted to bash buddy guarantee one last time while he is while he is living in coach. Taylor's house and he finds out about the team. You meeting he says quote. I don't think it's cool for you to meet with. Tm You while. I'm living under your roof gap the on the guy. You're screw that guy would it? He is the worst. You're right for you to meet with PM. You while. I'm living under your roof. Let's back up to why you're living in their house. Oh my Gosh What the worst see what he's in the driveway. He gives the coach. Taylor says I don't think I'd be concerned about Dylan Panther football right now. More worried about my family and he gives the. I'll always care about this team. I'm like dude. This guy this guy needs to be checked into a psych ward. Exactly it not just goes to what we said earlier about. He cares way too much about football team. Yeah and does it give you? Don't give a shit about family and that's fine but you're a defect and you're the worst and you should be publicly. Shamed in front of everyone and he was so justice was a little bit served. Justice was indeed a little all right. Matt I appreciate it as always brother three more episodes next week. I think we'll be pretty close season one next week. I'm not mistaken me pretty close. I'm ready man. I'm excited. I feel I've still held off from watching ahead. I I look forward to watching C. I I can't do it either. Get confused. I'll get way to confuse if I start watching more episodes and then I'll start talking about stuff that hasn't happened yet. They all start running together. Yes I gotta I gotTa keep it keep on schedule so I'm looking forward to. It sounds good. We'll talk to you next week whether we appreciate it as always thank you. Ma'am preach at it baby bag..

"Place he can sleep is at coach. Taylor's house coach Taylor South Buddy. Garrity get shamed in front of gotten everyone at Church. Amazing I clapped a class. Thank goodness all. This is finally coming back in blowing up right myspace and yet he goes to coach. Taylor's house I don't know why you'd think this guy has enough money to like even threaten to like go to like a hotel or motel like dude you make you make a lot of money not just go there in the first place. Why try to like put your problems onto someone else? Someone else's like like coach Taylor doesn't have enough on his plate right. You know so. I don't know why he did that. And then the quote which again embodies buddy garrity. Whenever whenever he is at the House and he goes. Yeah you know Pantano tough time. You know how women are with these things. You don't how women are with evening whenever you cheat on. Your wife lied to for years at a time. You know that feeling you know how women are at the thing you know with getting cheated on and embarrassed and parole town. You know like you know how they are. They'll she'll come around buddy garrity everybody. What a what. A what an Oscar worthy performance buddy garrity. Oh and then then Coach Taylor's alive her. Just take laugh like Oh like Oh okay. You said that right yeah. It was just a priceless reaction so at their houses. A great scene where Julie is going to be left alone with buddy garrity and she has his moment where she's like. I can't hang out with Tyra but I could stay home with a guy who's been cheating on his wife or something along those lines and that's okay. You're like Julie you don't make sense a lot in your way too emotional and you're really annoying but that's a good point. Touche Touche very good point. Thank you yeah So back to the buddy garrity thing coach. Taylor's house obviously gets kicked out. We'll get into the big plot. Twist of buddy garrity coach Taylor's intersection moment with the scratch pad here in a moment but the plot of decided coach. Mac IS GONNA stay or not it kind of gets to a head. Where coach Taylor going to make a decision and at one point in the show he says. Do you know what I have on my desk. Your termination papers right here. In coach Mak comes. Oh sorry coach Mac meets with coach Taylor. And he says a really. I mean this is just like wow. This is such a giant topic. Such an such a powerful statement coming inside of such a dramatic silly show like Friday. Night Lights is a silly dramatic. You Know Nine. Oh Two one oh style show. You're not supposed to be drawn life conclusions from this. This is worth reading. I don't know if we really want to talk about it a whole lot but it hits it hits home for me if some people that I know he says I've never agreed with any of it. Talking about his comedy never agreed with any of it. But if you're surrounded by it for long enough it's slowly. Crawls crawls into who you are who you are as a person it just seeps in when he said Oh man that's like real life stuff like you surround yourself with the wrong people. You surround yourself with wrong ideas even if you don't think it's true in the moment it eventually kind of overtakes you're thinking. I was like. Wow that's actually some really great life advice there from coach the racist the racist. Yes No that does happen. That is a good life lesson If you hang out with racist to say racist things then that will become part of your vocabulary which is not a good thing not a good thing by any means but no that that is a good point. Hayes with wrong crowd just a little heavy moment there from coach Mac that I was not prepared for. I forgot that he said that. And so this this watch through I again I was like. Oh Wow wow man crazy okay. You're it does. It does make you think of like people you know that does. Yeah so coach. Mac eventually comes over to coach. Taylor's house and they're sitting down having a drink and coach Mac. You know basically says you know. I never thought I'd be talking to someone. Who's ten years my junior? This is my job. This is what I thought and nothing is more important to me than this. Football team is so he turns in his resignation letter to coach. And think this is going to be like an easy out right like all of a sudden. The decision has been made now. They don't have to address it. You can just kind of keep it. Moving right and coach Taylor sits on it and sits on it sits on it and he finally decision. There's the what did you think about the coach Maxine and then you could talk us through the scene after that where Coach Taylor announces his decision. On the matter what. Yeah so what did you think about coach Mac turning his resignation letter. Oh no I mean like I was like okay. Good for him. You know like he realizes that you know the team needs to win and you know he realizes his mistake. I think finally after like a week or two of sitting on those comments and giving that fake at apology Finds like all right. You know you'll get the players back on good stuff see. I thought that was a great writing trick right there right because if he just gets fired no what. It doesn't matter if he keeps his job. It doesn't matter but the fact that he showed some remorse wanted to quit almost makes you feel sorry. For right they get almost makes you have sympathy for a character who truthfully should have no sympathy for at all because he's kind of a disgusting person right but I mean continue to shame like he's continuing to get shamed rightfully so for comment and you know maybe he took a deep deep look in deep look inward and came out. Came out a better person. You know people can change. Yeah so Coach Taylor announced in a press conference basically first off. How much media is in this small town a Dylan on the Texas holy cow? That looks like a thunder thunder post game like there was so many reporters there so many cameras anyway so just walks up to the podium and says coach. Mac Is my offense coordinator. You guys could shove it. And then shuffles off which. I was very surprised you me too. That was a plot. Twist right like you. I was not prepared for the first time. I watched it for coach Mac to keep his job. Because Taylor a way to make it happen and so then it leads to them getting on the bus to head off to the playoff game and smash talk to his mother and they've got it figured out and so they're coming back onto the team so now we've had Tim Riggins who missed an entire week of practice. Because he's getting drunk with his dad a whole segment of football players who walked out of practice for the right reasons absolutely for the right reasons but missed five five days of practice. Four days of practice. The punishment here for this football team is probably pretty hard to convince as severe like if. You're the backup quarterback your way. Way Way Way. So if I miss the practice I'm not allowed to suit up but smash can miss a week or Tim. Riggins give us a week and they're playing on Friday. That doesn't seem fair. I think this is kind of going to become a toxic culture. It is not fair but that's the way it works. The better player can get away with more. That just happened. The ONE IS GONNA BE. I will say I mean leaving for that but Smashing everyone else. Who left for the right reasons? I mean I I'm Casey. I can kind of see why I decide. I would them and let them play. But the Reagan's one just wanting to like get drunk and yeah. I'm just saying the combination of all of this stuff. You said look kind of look at it and go wow coach Taylor. Little relaxed on the On the punishments Taylor most patient person of all time he is. Okay so The Dillon Panthers go to play playoff game and it is a physical to say the least and I don't know if we're supposed to make the assumption that the refs were bribed. What did you make about the officiating? Well like what did you take away from that? The officiating was very one sided towards Dunston valley rounded up those dumping Duncanville. Glad you write down the names. I never do. Yeah thank thank you. Yeah it was okay so that whole the whole game and the aftermath of the game which I believe led to the end of the episode Was just I was like? Is this really what high school football in Texas is supposed to be or is this just which knowing the show is a super dramatized version of it but the refs just outwardly cheating and not calling facemask blatant facemask and Linton late? Hit after smash score a touchdown I mean good for Tim. Riggins good for Tim. Riggins FOR HITTING THAT GUY. He smashed late and then causing the whole fight which. I mean not cool to have an all out. Yeah you gotTa think of for Your Guy Though. I mean you stick to your guy and you get to win. Wow here's a perfect. Here's what my first thought was and I know this is horrible. Why wouldn't you just once you had the lead in the fourth quarter because the rule is apparently in Texas that you play three quarters. That's a complete game if it gets if it gets cancelled for any other reason the score is final in that moment after you get past three quarters if you had the lead I think your move is just a start an all out brawl and get the game cancelled right. You might as well that is yes especially in you know. Maybe if it's a one score game if you're up twenty one twenty I think coach the other team's momentum coming right I think brawl wouldn't be wouldn't be a bad like fallback plan. I think coach Taylor should keep this in his back pocket if they make it to state championship game. That'd be a great one to bust out for the win for sure for sure. You already had experience doing it to other teams wouldn't be experienced. They would never coming right right. It gets really catch people off guard. I think that's the move. I think it is so obvious. Oh again I don't know if we're supposed to assume this is like a Remember the titans situation where the coaches have clearly the officials clearly their hands have been greased But there's some pretty agreed calls miss and like like you mentioned it leads to this all out brawl and then the game gets called. Three quarters is enough football. The scores Final Dylan wins and the coaches freaking out in the little four year area there and Dylan gets dylan gets on the bus. All in their pads and their helmets. Which by the way if you look seventy seconds later when the bus gets pulled over. Miraculously you're gone. No one's in their pads. No one has their helmets. Yep so they're on their way out of town. What town did you say it was done in valley that sounds so racist nights on shocking letting buried Dunston Valley? They're leaving Dustin value on the bus and again random of thought so many players on this team all fitting on one bus with the seven assistant coaches and head. Coach is really impressed. By the way I think they might be on to buses in real life. I don't know about your high school football team but mine took two buses. Guess Anyway it would be to us so they get pulled over by the sheriff's department and they basically say we're going to need smash Williams off this bus. Someone is pressing charges. Because they don't even hit anybody they hit throw the first punch. Under what planet is that? GonNa Work High School. These coaches are filming the game. Right because you watch tape later. So there's gotta be tape of this. So they they know there's no chance that they're actually going to convict. Smash Williams of anything like it. Is You just to so take him in whole like.

The casts of The Goonies, Friday Night Lights, and Melrose Place are all reuniting

"The one of the things that's come out of our quarantine in this covert nineteen world is the reunions of your favorite old TV shows I think a lot of people are going nostalgic right now anyway just in terms of what you're watching because we're all kind of harkening back and grabbing for a simpler time but also there's so many opportunities now for people to connect over zoom over Google hangouts over all the other meeting apps so now we're getting a ton of reunions you remember John Krasinski reunited with his office co stars recently the cast of that thing you do linked up over a virtual screening of the of the comedy after the death of the lead singer of fountains of Wayne the Goonies just did a reunion of Friday night lights having a reunion and Melrose Place is having a reunion tonight six five one six four one one oh seven one what TV show cast would you like to see reunite remember the cast of the nanny did a table read of a show the first yeah and you know Bradley you'll you brought this Josh gad is kind of at the center of a lot of these reunions well he he's the one behind the Goonies and there's this new web series and it's called reunited apart with Josh gad the first one is the Goonies and that premiered yesterday it was actually I mean I'm sure somewhere I was paying attention better than we were but I saw this yesterday morning and it took place live at about eleven o'clock our time yesterday after morning but then I watched it when I got home and it was about thirty minutes like twenty six some minutes of Josh gad hosting a reunion with literally your favorite people from the Goonies and not only your favorite people but like the writer the director and Steven Spielberg so he brought all these people together it was just like frankly I think one of the reasons these are happening is because it's so it takes such little resources to make it happen you literally just have to have the people and by the way nobody's doing anything right so everybody is available to show up for

the stakes are much bigger those are interesting concepts but what they do with it isn't particularly interest thing that was really striking to me in your views in an a two way you had with one of your other variety critics is that felt that they weren't daring that given what else is out there on streaming services like Netflix and Hulu Amazon prime that they weren't willing to go the extra mile and actually take a risk yeah and I think that would obviously agree disagree with me I think the morning show particular feels like it did belong on network six years ago despite trying upbringing timely elements they obviously had to bring in some of me to Dickinson shirts trying for those who don't know Dickenson is about emily Dickinson but it's about her as a feisty teenager played by Hailee Steinfeld one purpose that is to become a great writer it definitely does a lot stylistically it has a lot of you know bass heavy rap music that comes in every so often is played by wiz Khalifa it's very cw in the vein of Riverdale but I do think looking at the four shows overall there's this weird sense I got that all these shows might have been more interesting if they came out five years ago you know they're all very shiny expensive versions of things I feel like we've seen before or that have been innovative previously but in twenty nineteen I don't know I feel like I need a little bit more from them to really stand out when there are so many shows if you were to step back and say this is clearly the market that apple is going after could you define what that audience might be I don't know that I can say that because I'm not sure apple can either think that this first of shows is a confusing one because all seem to be sort of going for a different audience Dickinson's kind of going for a CW teen thing for all mankind feels very AMC to me morning show I think I said my column feels sort of ABC CBS all access question mark and see is like a game of thrones got lost I I just don't know where what they were trying to do with the four of them combined I think feels like they were casting a wide net and it just feels like some of these shows are kind of splitting the difference in not playing it very safe they're not really taking aside and maybe that felt safer apple but it it's not very interesting TV no in one of the challenges for apple is they don't have the library that say Netflix or Disney plus has so they we are making almost a pure play on these shows and if they don't have a show that people have to watch the question is I guess would people spend five bucks a month just to watch Jennifer Aniston and that seems to be the proposition doesn't it the content library is a big part of streaming services and I feel like Apple has kind of underestimated that they to their credit are pricing it relatively low five dollars a month is definitely the lowest price by pretty wide margin for any of the streaming services right now though I believe that Disney plus will not be much more expensive and again they have all these movies all these other shows that will be available just for people to have so even if you're not interested in one of the original shows you you're probably gonNA subscribe so you can watch all the Disney stuff right and that's the issue right because even as people are cutting maybe their direct TV subscription or their cable subscription if you start doing ala carte pricing where you're getting Netflix Amazon prime you're getting Hulu Oh you're getting Disney plus a couple of bucks here pretty much your back to a hundred plus a month patch what would be the argument for subscribing to apple right now or maybe are there other shows that they're hoping will continue generating momentum and he you have to imagine it's the latter especially because they have been signing more and more overall deals with other creators or shows down the Line Affonso Koran recently assigned TV deal which I find very interesting Jason Kanaan's and Friday Night Lights signed an overall deal there and in general these overall deals for creators like Ryan Murphy if it can get people

"The Green Mile" Costume Director: Karyn Wagner.

"My next guest is a costume designer she's been in the business for three generations her film logger fee if I don't lose my voice here reading off all these wonderful works movies and shows preacher Mr Church Friday night lights the notebook assault let's see Majestic Green Mile Waco just to name a few she's wonderful and the very talented Karen Wagner Karen thanks for coming on the show today thank you I'm delighted to be here you know what I love about you as you mentioned third generation so anytime I get back from please call me out on it because I pride myself on my research and if I'm wrong I want to know about it okay so your grandmother's silent film actress in Your Grandfather's and Academy Award winning cinematographer who who won an award for Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca my right with both of those things that is correct so those two good so I have to say what your path was much more I mean I think it's always in Europe are not trying to talk for you but I feel like it's always been in you but I always say I'm genetically modified yeah that's a good way of putting it a cow and I'm GonNa get you graduated UC Davis with a degree in painting in our history you Kinda WanNa say took your time but you were very selective allow your path which I really love like many people jump into something and it's like well you know this isn't right for me you kind of took your time yes and things happen but talk a little bit about that early part of your life care well I don't know if I selectively took my time so much as I'm of an Omnivore when it comes to studies and interests I love so many different things and throughout my life I've had this balance of being obsessed with science and math I'm one of those rare weird people who loves math so I've had this dichotomy between math in science and sheer creativity and I guess at the end of the day and as I sit here thinking about what I really had to do was find something that combined the you so I tried a number I I went to UC Davis hoping originally hoping to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and that kind of lost its interest for me and I tried a few other things I studied you know a little bit of law I studied a little bit of chemistry as a little bit of it engineering and I found myself really obsessed with history but the study of history is so often linear about specific things and I'm really far more interested in the whole culture so you can see where this is slow leading me towards costume design because I do a lot of period pieces and I'm always obsessed with creating as much of the world that the script is portraying as much as I can you know whatever period were in like trying to to tip a nod to the politics of the time or other current events of the time so and using what I do also to combine any science so I recently become obsessed with enough I'm not sure I'll be able to spell whereas to to pronounce it right but Electro Micron and photography. So it's it's microscopic photography and the a lot of the images are you know the the surfaces of flies is in mods wings and things and you can't imagine that they're gonNa look where they do so I was able to take that for instance and and apply towards the science fiction project that I finished earlier this year trying to combine you know again combine my love of science it's with my love of of all things artistic and creative so I think that it wasn't so much that I was carefully picking my past we know although I thank you for saying such a lovely way I think it was more me searching for something that would enable me to combine a lot of interest and keep me and keep me interested for careers worth yeah because I have the attention of a fruit flies also like art in science and math are completely could be run in this different sides of the brain different like I feel like there but for you it's so I don't want to say it but it's so it's kind of a collective thing to have you be kind of strong all three of those like you don't see that a lot you know yeah yeah yeah it's I talked to other people in and I'm I'm always I always feel like I'm not the smartest person in the room or the most well educated in a room and I'm often surprised to find that like other you know other people know so much about one thing and then are not interested in learning how about other things and that's not to say you know either way is right or wrong it just surprise dismay that everybody isn't as I like to say I'm never us as I am you know and I feel I mean just looking from researching your life I feel like your degree in art history really helped you in a variety of ways I feel like you use it a lot in your profession I feel like your your your attention to detail is unbelievable I just be like all the things that go into being a history major specifically art history from the outside looking in to me it seems like it really made a big difference for you is that if I want but words in your mouth but is somewhat accurate it's completely completely accurate I mean I have probably a hundred thousand paintings in my brain and so all you have to do is say a year or or mentioned and historical happening or oh my goddess dear just wet hopping through backyards looking out the window and this dear just went crazy running through my my wow so beautiful yes and the other thing that art history taught me you know not just not just like what kind of painting was happening at a specific year or costumes were you know fifteen thirty Knicks versus you know eighteen thirty six but framing framing and chats skewer and light how different can't painting movements used light or were affected by light and so I think that that has been a great how should I say this has been it's been it's been very helpful to me because I will notice the light wherever I'm shooting because I typically am on location and wherever I go the lights going to be different so the light becomes a character and so I'm able to interact with the DP the production designer and say well the light is going to be very northern or it's going to be very direct from above you know because we're closer to the equator let's use a lot of brighter colors you know so the this wonderful three way conversation it's gets going and I really love working with other departments I don't like it when I end up on a show where everybody's in their own little double and doesn't want to communicate with any other departments because I feel like there's this great saying in the Arab world that a horse made by committee is a camel and it might be a little more on Ganley but it's a far more valuable animal to have in the middle of the desert right so I always you like I want to create the camel even though the horse might be more romantic if that makes sense definitely accents so so in your -perienced you find that it is a team effort hurt you just mentioned that the director of Photography and I have a few questions about this topic I'll kind of be jumping around a little bit here but like you find it's often you do so your choices right so is it usually are you working with cinematographer and the director and the actor or is it kind of just depending on the set how is it usually work for you Karen or like I said is it is it is it a case by case scenario it's really a case by case scenario a lot of it has to do often has to do with how much productions like how crowded RIPTA's like how much there is to get done I know that everybody tries to communicate and you know it's like I try to work with the production designer the set decorator and make sure that you know they're not putting up Lilac wallpaper while I'm dressing somebody lilac known all the standard things and I know everybody tries to work together but it depends you know it always depends on the combination of people You know when I did underground which is stories about runaway slaves the production designer the set decorator on the prop master and I we were like the foremost tears you know and like every ten minutes there was a texture assembly. I'm looking at this I'm thinking about this you know you know Karen here's The gun nature's packed can you make a purse that will fit the gun you know so she can the party carrying a gun in her purse that kind of thing it's always we're always trying to work together in some depth that's possible sometimes it's not an every occasionally okay you do run across somebody and that's just not the way they want to work and you can now no I prefer it when we do work

"It's eight trivia questions on the hit TV show. Friday night lights is picked by patriots Scribner. Alex. Dismiss this is trivia would buds. Eight b and welcome to another episode of the trivia with buds podcast. I'm your host. Ryan buds. Thanks. We're checking out this show. You can find out more about me by going over to my website trivia with buds dot com. There's two DS and s in they're like, you're going to the dentist, and you can find all kinds of information on where to play live trivia with me in southern California special events coming up next month. Harry Potter experience at last name brewing on may thirty first tickets available on the banner on the top of the website, and you can watch videos and click around and play around with some trivia on your own. If you want new episodes of this show, hit subscribe on your device and you'll get them every single day. We are on three hundred and two episodes deep into our yearly sorry, our daily addition of the show for the last year, or so and before that we did another hundred something episodes of trivia, where I had guests on that would usually battle in two topics. They were good at like. Back to the future in US presence or marine biology and tenacious d and those were lengthier episodes, usually like an hour or more, and we get to know some friends of mine from the world of entertainment, and we've had some great guests on the show like Jim O'Hare from parks and rec who did some Johnny cash trivia against his cousin metal hair. And I think they did sitcoms and Johnny cash trivia, go back and check that out that was like the six episode of the show ever way back almost three years ago, and Jim O'Hare played Larry Jerry berry, Gary parks and rec so check that out. I'll have to have him on the show again soon. He's a good friend and fellow Chicago in. So we'll see five minutes to do a phone call sometime soon. In the meantime, today's episode is all about Friday night lights, and this is a show I've never seen a frame of. But I would like to go back and watch at some point. I know it's a good show. I think the acting supposed to be pretty great on the show and the storylines and I like that southern lifestyle. So I will definitely watch this at some point if anybody knows where I can watch this show streaming on Netflix, Hulu Amazon. Let me know because I don't know if the top of my head, and I can't possibly Google that where my some kind of robot come on if you know where I can watch it. Let me know maybe I'll start watching it very soon. I'm on the final episode of season two of Ozark. And then I'll be looking for something new to watch also been watching the TV version of what we do in the shadows. I only watched the pilot three more of those to go to catch up on that shows. Well, and I'm very excited about that one of the newest episode was called werewolf feud. So I know that's going to be great. And I am not a football player or a sports guy myself, you could tell because I don't do a ton of sports trivia on this podcast, but let's see Friday night lights football. I know that and I did not play football in high school. I was on speech team in high school, and I did go to the state level for speech team. My senior year for a humorous interpretation of a play. It was like a one act play called. This is a test where this kid's taken a test and everything goes wrong, and I got to the opening rounds of the state competition. And there was one point where I kick my leg, and my shoe. Flew off my foot and like into the judges. As you can imagine that was not good for my scores. And I didn't make it to the final round at St.. I just did. Okay. But hey, I could say made it to state, and I had some cheap shoes that flew off mafi and some other stuff I did on speech team. I did. A one man version of Dr Strangelove by Stanley Kubrick and the gang and played a lot of the characters and that so that was fun my senior year as well. And at the end of my senior year speech stint, they gave me a patch for my Letterman jacket, which I did not buy because it would have been a very sad jacket with just one patch that had speech on it. So did not do that. I don't have any class rings on many class jackets, but I do have some great class memories of speech team and performing high school. So that was what I did did not play sports was never under the Friday night lights, but was on the Saturday morning lights, which were fluorescent in the ceilings of different classrooms around high schools in Illinois. If you aren't speech team, let me know if you listen to this show, I'd love to talk to you about how your speech experience was. And maybe you have kids yourself who are on speech team. And you wanna tell me about that drop me a line? Ryan buds at gmaiLcom anytime or hit me on the contact form on my website. And maybe we'll have you on the show to talk about some speech related trip. Via or maybe just some more Friday nights trivia for Alex Mabel, just do that. Instead. All right. We got eight questions on the show a curated these from different quizzes online. So let's see how you do on. This quick episode about a football TV show. Here we go. All right. Alex dissension acts picked this round on Friday night lights. And here is the first question of eight what town in Texas does the show take place in. What is the name of the town in Texas that this show Friday night lights takes place in? Question. Number two. What animal is the team mascot. "Ten percent discounts when they shop online. So what are we really doing here? Are we, it's one thing to support cap, which I completely am appreciative of it's another to support the issues and to pay attention to what this is really all about. Are you down or are you not down? And did you just make sure that one of your clients got rehabilitated in the way that he deserved value in that, but still there's two issues we I forgotten about the ten percent discount football lease. I totally forgotten about that. And as an interesting too, because it's not even like southern as widely publicized, they just do it. Do it. Right. Right now, let me ask you. So we are all Friday night lights is we've been doing for this and whether it is interesting is we talked about this a little earlier. This is not one of your favorites. It's one of my favorites, but it is one of your favorites, and I actually had questions for you on this in I, I love it because you know being where you're from and being where I'm from. This is like one of the great sort of moments where where where you do get that sort of national regional divide. I'm from Massachusetts. The last thing we care about is Friday night lights, high school football means virtually nothing here. High school football means everything down there, and I was thinking when I was reading this book and preparing for this because I hadn't read this book and years, and I'm glad you chose it because of where we are today. But I was wondering why this was one of your favorites. I think I kinda know the answer, but I wanted to hear it from, you know what I've always wondered though, with the mainstream affection that exists for Friday night lights. I. Don't feel like they are into it for the same reason that I am into it. So part of it for me is yes, like I understand the lure of high school football and what it means, but I don't think I fully like really understood it until I read this book when I was like nineteen years old because I am at once like from a city. I grew up like right on the north side. Friend is Houston, but I went to school in a town with fifteen hundred people. So I wasn't really like bathe in the high school football stuff to same, have no ride home after the games from the little towns that they were going to play it, I'd have a license, right? So I could do it in that way. But I found that Bisson jer almost unwittingly stumbled into a great analysis of race in class in America with high school. Football is kind of being the Lynn's on was not like I had like all these heroes of the book that I love as much as I thought he did a great job of explaining, for example, the. The willingness that people have to tolerate black folks who serve them without having any respect for their decency or their humanity. And he managed to get these people to express these things in really raw unvarnished ways that made it impossible for people to walk away from and come up with excuses to what was going on. And and if you re and if you read the book now the lens of twenty eighteen you there. Couple of lies that are exposed and one of the lies that's exposed that anything that's happening right now wasn't happening before this has been a growth. I mean you, you are an outgrowth of of the eighties, and when you look at where we are when you're looking at where we are in terms of how we view the geopolitics of oil and war, if you look at the geopolitics or even just the the international the, I'm sorry, the national politics of race and class, and when you look at all of these, even if you look at even if you look at it from a stick to sports standpoint, that all the roots of what we're talking about in terms of American. Vides are taking place in this book and this is the mid eighties..

"What's definitely give me a lot of right up around the interweb so i'm sure universally is going to have to deal with it in some way chris is there any other interesting salary info the last most interesting thing is this is a good thing patty jenkins got a huge payday she's getting nine million dollars for wonder woman to which is apparently three times more than she made for directing the i wonder woman i remember it took a long time for them to finally announce patty jenkins was coming back from wonder woman to and it seems like that's because she was working hard to get that that big pay day and i'm very happy about that because she deserves it since that's the only good film to this date so she she's earned it and that also makes her the highest paid female director of all time which is pretty impressive or maybe not impressive looking at the figure and probably comparing it to some of the the male directors that have been you know making films throughout hollywood for years but we're making progress right maybe i mean it's it's good she she like you said like that's a big payday but i feel like it could be bigger but we'll say baby steps i guess i mean considering rubber danny generic paid that money for spiderman homecoming and probably was onset for only a few days you know i'm not saying that acting isn't a hard job i been many movie sets in is.

"Bit of good news and that is that jordan peele has announced his new horror movie us this is his follow up for the f and tastic get out chris you're super excited about this what do we know yes someone say i'm too excited about this but this this news broke last night and i was over the moon about it because i'm a huge fan of get out and i'm a huge fan of just horror genre in general and i love the idea that jordan peele is sticking with that genre so yeah last night jordan peele tweeted out a teaser poster for his film the tagline says a new nightmare from the mind of the academy award winner jordan peele it's called us and lupita yongbo elizabeth moss and winston duke are all in talks to star in the film details are really they're not really any details about what it's about all we know is that it's it's about two couples one white one black that's pretty much all we know about it in the past and peel has said he intends to stick with the harsh honora and that's really it we know it's har movie we know who's probably going to be in it we know jordan peele is making it and we know it will be out in march two thousand nineteen and really that's enough for me to get very excited that's really all i didn't know to get excited about this movie and it seems that the two couples it seems like he's still sticking to you know probably saying something larger than it just a horror movie about the social political climate of today i assume and it's also in the l sorry i remember in the aftermath of out he said he was planning to do a series of social horror movie so it's probably along the same lines and it's cool that we could get to see a black panther reunion with this movie.

"Indeed have you guys injected yourselves with steroids today now that's that season one and only get off topic here one of the things that people like to nitpick about friday night lights is the actual football of the how dare they sometimes fails to fully track now this may be the way of specific gamewinning play on old it might be the fact that every single football game seems to have a game winning players that might be part of it might be the vaguely like landry scored a touchdown and won't boy jason he's a tight end for the rhode island panthers sure all right now i over my ears to spend a lot of time editing college football pieces in high school yes he says and i've always had somebody with a passion for recruiting it is disgusting meat market but it's fascinating and so one of the things that's always bogged to me about this show which again i feel compelled to st louis jewish we both live cherish smashes recruitment doesn't make a lick of set no it makes sense is eurocents the perth it does make sense is that in all steep running back four flash runs a four four wouldbe heavily that tracks but remember in ceasing one he is so desperate to get on greedy hans top one hundred at he injects himself with steroids okay they worked who is agreed upon and if you're that could have football why are you not on his list already that's on how recruiting works and then this carries in two season to of course one of the things is also happening with football season toos the coach taylor whose dream is to be a successful coach.
