"At Reagan national 82 as well at vwi Marshall. We have 83 at dulles. It is 6 40, our view of the universe just got a whole lot bigger. NASA has released the first image from its new space telescope the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope. The image, which was released at a White House event, is the farthest humanity has ever seen in both time and distance. Closer to the dawn of time and the edge of the universe. It's brimming with stars with massive galaxies in the foreground and faint and extremely distant galaxies peeking through here and there. Part of the image is light from not too long ago after the Big Bang, which was 13.8 billion years ago. The image will be followed tomorrow by the release of four more galactic beauty shots from the telescopes internal outward gazes. 6 41 Russian missile strikes in Ukraine's second largest city have killed at least three people and hurt many others, including children, local officials and car keys say the strikes mostly hit civilian targets, including a school, a residential building, and a shopping center. Meantime, WTO national security correspondent JJ green has details about the pushback Russia's military is getting from its own soldiers. A number of Russian media sites have been reporting for months that Russian troops no longer want to fight, and they're looking for ways to get out of Ukraine. Ukrainian intelligence intercepted messages in late June, where the wives of soldiers made direct appeals to Russia's military leadership, trying to get their husbands off the battlefield, saying they're exhausted and need rest. In the meantime, the Russian military is turning to prisons, looking for recruits. They've been to several large Russian cities recently, having recruited around 300 prisoners. They're being promised, high salaries, and even higher death benefits. JJ green, WTO, news. Meantime, it appears Russia is turning to Iran for military help, and it's ongoing war in Ukraine. At a news conference today, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said, they have information that Iran is providing Russia with hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles, including weapons, capable drones. Information further indicates that Iran is preparing to train Russian forces to use these UAVs with initial training sessions slated to begin as soon as early July. Sullivan says it's unclear whether Iran had already provided any of the unmanned systems to Russia. 6 42, one famous album has a title fitting for this part of summer, and as we hear from WTO national security correspondent, Jason Frehley, actually, he's the entertainment editor. "So early that evening, around 6 p.m., she decides to clean the entire car out. One way or another, that should help her find the source of the smell. She grabs some books off the front floorboard to put in the trunk, and when she pops the trunk, she is completely frozen. At first, she thinks she must be seeing things, but then she realizes she's not hallucinating. There in the trunk of her Ford Taurus is a man. And before she can even look at his face, she knows it's Rick's senior. For a second, Kim S doesn't know if he's alive or not. She thinks that he might jump out and attack her, and she backs away screaming. But after that initial moment of shock, it's obvious to her that he's actually dead. He's already starting to decompose. His skin is discolored, and he's fully clothed in the fetal position, with his legs curled up and his knees against his chest. There's even dried blood coming out of his nostrils. Chemists calls 9-1-1 and police are stunned. I mean, this isn't exactly a common occurrence. And by all accounts, she's probably been driving around with him in the trunk for more than 24 hours. As far as they can tell and what's later confirmed by autopsy is that this was some kind of freak accident. Rick senior crawled into the trunk on his own and died of hyperthermia, which is basically overheating, combined with cocaine and alcohol intoxication. It looks like he got a copy of Kim S's car keys when he stole her purse. Police actually find the black handbag in the trunk with him and the keys in his pocket. Look at this, please also find a knife in the trunk. Now Rick senior was apparently known to carry a pocket knife, so I'm not sure if that's the knife they find or if it's another one. But Kim asks and the police think that he was planning to jump out and attack her when she least expected it, using the emergency release handle inside the trunk, which according to reporter Deborah hirsch of the Charlotte observer was working just fine. So investigators theorized that once he crawled into the trunk, he must have somehow gotten disoriented due to the heat and the drugs and the alcohol, so he wasn't able to carry out his plan or even free himself and detectives tell investigation discovery that prior to his death, Rick senior told friends of his that he was going to give his ex, Kim S, the surprise of her life. Now Jaime's mom Kim Frehley is at work when she gets a frantic call from her sister who tells her what's going on.

"10th, 2008, and in Gaston county North Carolina Kim Frehley's morning is just getting started when her phone rings. On the other end of the line is her daughter Jaime's caseworker, and Kim is surprised to hear from her because she's never called her before. Jaime's had some health and developmental issues since she was born, but she's 22 now, and for the past few years, she's been making major strides towards independence. Like in 2006, she got her own apartment about 15 minutes away from her mom. Right outside of a city called Gastonia. Now, Jaime's caseworker is there to like check in on her, she helps her with day to today stuff, like budgeting, the monthly social security benefits that she gets. She also gives her rides sometimes because Jamie doesn't drive. And in fact, the reason that she's calling her mom now was because she was supposed to take Jamie to an appointment the day before, but the caseworker says that when she stopped by that Wednesday morning as planned, Jaime didn't answer the door or her telephone. Kim feels a twinge of fear, not that something criminal had happened to her daughter, but maybe she was super sick because you see two days before, which would have been on Tuesday, Kim knew that Jaime had woke up with some kind of nasty stomach bug. I mean, she was in so much pain. She actually went to the hospital twice that day. On her first visit to the ER, she was diagnosed with the flu. They gave her a prescription for something and sent her on her way, but Jamie didn't think that she had the flu. She thought it might be something more serious. And when she wasn't feeling any better at that same night, she went back to the hospital. But when she got there the wait was hours long and after a while she got impatient so she decided to leave before she saw a doctor. Kim's not sure how she got home, but she knows that she made it home okay. She told our reporter Nina that she spoke with Jamie on the phone after she got back. This is like the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday. Maybe around like 1230 a.m. ish. When they talked, Jamie told her mom that she had been throwing up and Kim offered to come get her. But Jaime said no, she needed to be home to get picked up for an appointment, her caseworker was bringing her to in the morning. The appointment was with social services and she didn't want to miss it because she was going to talk to the agency about possibly handling her own money. Essentially, she'd have to convince them that she was capable of managing it, but she really felt like she was and this would be another big step towards her independence. So all in all, this is not something she would just skip. But it's not just the fact that she had that meeting or just the fact that she was sick that was making Kim worry. Jaime was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she was 18. She struggled with anxiety and mood swings and had been prescribed medication, but it doesn't sound like she took it on a regular basis.

"50 The two campus officers killed in a shooting at Virginia's Bridgewater college will be remembered at a memorial service tomorrow It'll be held at 11 o'clock hit James Madison university's Atlantic union bank center that's in Harrisonburg It'll be open to the public anyone who can't make it can watch a live stream on Bridgewater's website The shooting happened one week ago on Bridgewater's campus claiming the lives of officers John painter and JJ Jefferson a memorial fund has been set up for both of them You can also find that on the college's website Virginia's governor Glen junkins picked for secretary of natural resources has been rejected The vote against Andrew Wheeler coming today and the democratically controlled Virginia Senate Wheeler led the EPA under the Trump administration and as a former coal lobbyist his nomination to serve in the young administration drew backlash for more than 150 former EPA employees in a letter to the state Senate the group writing that Wheeler pursued an extremist approach to the EPA and sought to weaken its ability Stood by the pick saying Wheeler is the right person for the job and will stand up for Virginia's environment It has been about one year since Virginia abolished the death penalty There's no debate about whether it should be brought back in certain cases This bill basically says if you kill a police officer the death sentence is back on the table Virginia state senator Bill D staff asking for the death penalty to be reinstated in cases where a police officer is murdered It has the backing of Virginia's new attorney general Jason mayors Nicole Whitman with meares office There must be the ultimate punishment for the intentional murder of a police officer Though the bill did fall short failing to make it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee speaking against it Jeff Caruso with the Virginia Catholic conference We have tremendous respect and honor for our law enforcement but we do not think that the death penalty is the answer Nika and Ellie TOP news 7 52 which films and performances where the best of 2021 the nominations are out for this year's Academy Awards Here's WTO's film critic Jason Frehley The academy awarded the most dominations to the power of the dog on Netflix but while cinephiles can appreciate Jane campion's visual symbolism I hesitate to recommend it to mainstream moviegoers because its pace is so polarizing Instead I'm rooting for crowd pleasers like Belfast and coda two movies I can recommend to anybody and have them come back raving The year's top grossing flick Spider-Man: No Way Home was predictably snubbed meaning ratings will tank for the telecast still the biggest snubs were for the entire cast of mass and Ruth nega for passing looks like I'll be rooting for Ariana debits for west side story and locally audible is up for best documentary short about the Maryland school for the deaf football team in Frederick Maryland.
