"To walk off the job at some plants with Ford General Motors and Stellantis which owns Chrysler tonight we call on three units to stand up and go on strike at midnight if we do not reach a tentative agreement in the next two hours that is UAW president Sean Fain speaking just minutes ago now more about what would happen if and when UAW walks off we check in with WTOP car guy Mike Paris just back yesterday from the Detroit Auto Show it's looking more and more that way at the auto show yesterday at all the reveals of all these new models and redone models and most of the people are like maybe we'll see these cars who knows that won't be right away yeah so a great deal of doubt there I was bringing up the fact that it's significant historically that UAW members would walk off the job at all three major automakers at once but we want to make it clear it doesn't mean that come midnight everything shuts down everywhere talk about the staggered approach that the union is taking so what they would like to do is uh is set certain plans to strike and have other plans to keep working but with that being said who knows if some of those plans that are working might affect the ones that aren't working or vice versa so it's definitely going to a be very interesting development to see how this goes and how many people strike because uh there's a lot of people under the UAW banner right there so uh if those people are striking that's money a lot of that's uh that's being lost and it's the UAW having to try to to pick up five hundred dollars a week for each member let's uh let's focus on the workers a bit uh some of them are saying look we're making twenty dollars an hour here that is what you would maybe pay a babysitter here in the Washington area at times talk about the argument the workers are making that they want the companies to share the wealth yeah they right now is a tiered system so it takes about six to seven years for you to come in at entry level to making the the top dollar hourly wage so they would like to see that go away after 90 days they were like the the full the full enchilada all the money being made uh per by hour by someone and not having to wait six years to do that that in this also some retiree issues too that are going on here that are kinda sticking points right now they're also talking about a four day work week although the CEOs seem a bit unhappy or a lot unhappy with that let's take the other side too for fairness the car companies say we've got a big job to do here turning all of our facilities into ev factories so what what is the corporate point that you know they need money to do that yeah they need money to do that in uh and they say that if they have to bump up everyone's hourly rate wage and all the other items that want they that the unions are asking for that the GM would be bankrupt in a couple years I heard that today from the number two at GM Mr. Roos was saying that it's just unsustainable from what they're for what they're asking for WTOP car guy Mike Paris getting us ready for the ability although it's not official yet that there will be an auto workers strike now we're just hearing from the union minutes to go that the UAW plan strikes at factories in Wentzville Missouri Toledo Ohio and Wayne Michigan if no deal is reached in the next couple of hours it's a midnight or 1159 p .m. deadline we'll keep you updated on WTOP let's go to Bob Imler in the WTOP traffic center we'll start in Virginia westbound 66 at the Fairfax County Parkway the crash is mostly out of the roadway down but then you do have the work zone and the work zone has you down to a single left lane getting by headed past the Fairfax County Parkway now they set up eastbound eastbound 66 after 123 single right lane is getting by that work zone so a very slow in fact getting past that particular work zone 395 95 north down to a single lane to the right after Washington Boulevard with roadwork well 95 is actually doing okay all the way down to Fredericksburg nothing in your way out of Loop Beltway you do have roadwork in the local gate lanes again tonight Telegraph at Road getting by single file to the left tonight looks like they have set up now on the Interloop Beltway after exit 9 at Andrews past Branch Avenue and getting by single file to the right on the in Interloop Montgomery County Interloop from University to New Hampshire only a brief slowdown now getting past that work work zone with two lanes getting by to the left and 270 north single left lane gets by the work zone after Montrose and southbound after 85 McKesson delivers medical supplies to government agencies through federal supply schedules visit mms .mckesson .com slash government for details that's mms mckesson Bob .gov Inler WTOP traffic Veronica Johnson 7 News First Alert chief meteorologist a perfect evening after a perfect afternoon wow comfortable low humidity

Elevation with Steven Furtick
A highlight from Come Out Of The Cave (Daniel Floyd)
"Hey, this is Steven Furtick. I'm the pastor of Elevation Church, and this is our podcast. I wanted to thank you for joining us today. Hope this inspires you. Hope it builds your faith. Hope it gives you perspective to see God is moving in your life. Enjoy the message. So good to be in church today. My wife is with me, two of the four are with me. We have four kids, 16, 14, six and four. And yeah, same wife. Some people think it's two, no, same. And we just took a break and took a long break in between there. And the two little ones, they don't sit still long enough to get traveling rights. So they're at home, but we're just honored to be here. If you're ever in the Fredericksburg, Richmond area of Virginia, come say hello to us sometime. We would love to host you and love to have you visit. Sometime, honored to be here. I would be remiss if I didn't say at the onset that this house and the leaders of this house have made such a difference in our lives as I think all of us could testify to. Moments, sitting over there, hearing a message called Take Your Seat at the Gate that marked me at an inside elevation, a moment before service, praying together at Providence High School. Some of y 'all remember Providence. That marked me just moments throughout where something Pastor Steven said in a phone call, something in a message. I think we'd all have the testimony, some lyric that carried us through a moment of a song. And I just wanna say how much we love your pastors, Pastor Steven, Pastor Holly. What a gift they are to you, but what a gift they are to the body of Christ. Come on, can we put our hands together and thank God for our leaders today? What an incredible gift. Well, are you ready for the word today? Come on, I know this is a house that loves the word of God. And so if you have a Bible with you, Judges chapter six, we're gonna get to it and get to work and believing that God wants to say something to you today. Judges chapter six, start in verse one, read to about verse six. It says, again, the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord. It's a great verse to start with, right? Hey, welcome to Elevation. Israel did evil. Not smart guest speaker guy. Says that for seven years, he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. Everybody shout Midianites. Midianites. And because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves, and strongholds. And whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites, and other Eastern peoples invaded the country. And they camped on the land and they ruined the crops all the way to Gaza. They did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. And they came up with their livestock and their tents like swarm of locusts. It was impossible to count the men and their camels. They invaded the land and they ravaged it. Midians so impoverished the Israelites. One translation says they reduced them to starvation, that they cried out to the Lord for help. I want to bring a message today. If you're note -taking type, write this down. If you're not, go ahead and write it down called come out of the cave. Come out of the cave. Let's pray together. Father, our hearts and minds are open. We've come to hear from heaven today. We haven't come to do some religious ritual, but we believe the word of God is powerful and alive and can change our lives today. So do that. Do what only you can do in our hearts and our minds. We pray this in Jesus' name. Everybody said a big amen, amen. So not too long ago, my oldest, Owen, who's with us, he's 16, starts driving next month. Everybody paid for my insurance bill. Please say a prayer, add that to your prayer list. He comes up to me out of the blue and he says, Hey dad, did you ever pull an all -nighter? And I was like, yeah, there were several times in college that I pulled all -nighters. Anybody else in the house? Come on, every campus, you pulled an all -nighter? Okay, I don't know if it's justification for my procrastination, but I just kinda like to say that I enjoyed all -nighters. I had all -nighters back in the day where you went to the computer lab. Come on, somebody. You didn't have no laptop in your room. What you talking about, spoiled? Went to a computer lab with my disk. Can I get an amen in the house of God today? My disk, put that in the slot, had to wait for a spot for all the other procrastinators that were in the computer lab. And then I'd work on that thing until about seven in the morning, run and get some breakfast, head to class, acting like I had that thing done for two weeks.

Nearly a year ago, WTOP's Neil Augenstein was diagnosed and began treatment for stage four cancer lung and this week he's sharing how he's benefiting from cutting -edge treatments. When we first met you we had this pattern of tumors that were in multiple spots. Days after my diagnosis I first met Michael Lyon, director of thoracic surgery at Inova Health System and the reason that surgery was not a viable option the day that you walked in the door. There was no way your body would survive the surgery that would be necessary to extract all the tumor cells from you. Surgery on both lungs in multiple tubes of your lungs you would almost envision a lung transplant needing to be required to remove all the tumors which really is not feasible but that changed after four months of one pill a day targeted therapy. The bug that you got remarkably reduced the overall number of tumor sites in your body and it narrowed down it to one single area today robotic surgeries through four tiny incisions very different from decades it's passed the only option of entry into the chest was to make a very large incision it's the larger incisions and the spreading of the ribs that induces a fair amount of pain for patients after surgery he and the robot removed the upper lobe of my left lung I went home the next morning for the majority of our patients things turn out to be better than they anticipated Neil logan stain the whole thing is just incredible a new achievement by one of the greatest of all time basketball basketball legend Michael Jordan's now the first athlete to land on Forbes list of hundred Americans wealthiest the six -time NBA champ and Hall of Famers now worth more than three billion dollars thanks to his huge licensing deal with Nike and sale of his stake in the Charlotte Hornets Elon Musk took the top spot this year with a net worth of 251 billion dollars Jeff Bezos was second and Donald Trump have a tremendous income he's still a billionaire but Forbes says he's no longer rich enough for its list the former president was about 300 million dollars short Monica Ricks CBS News a quick look now at the top stories we're working on at WTOP hundreds of health care workers in our area they are expected to go on strike this morning cancels classes today at Morgan State University in Baltimore or where five people were shot and wounded last night your phone will be making some noise this afternoon even if you will tell you why keep it here for full details on these stories in the minutes

Today we use model based systems engineering. Whereas in the past we used to design things sequentially. We have to do things much faster now. So we do concurrent engineering. Everybody builds their modules, simultaneously. We had a concern. This is on route three. It's about 6 miles west of 95, all lanes are blocked westbound due to a serious crash there. Again, route three, I believe that's plank road in that area. So if you're down there, definitely something to watch for back north in the mayor on the Maryland side of things. Very small road in Rockville, eastbound at Atlantic avenue. You still have police activity there due to an earlier crash involving a pedestrian also out in St. Charles. For now, still a good ride on 95 north coming out of Fredericksburg headed north through Stafford into Prince William and on up toward the beltway in Springfield, no incidents in your way, three 95 north between the beltway and the 14th street bridge also moved in while you've got the express lanes open in northbound commuters on both and also without issue. George Washington Parkway continues to move on both directions between the beltway and McLean and old town Alexandria and even the stretch south of the beltway headed down toward Mount Vernon also without early issue. 66 years found from haymarket to rosin and Roosevelt bridge for now, no major issues in your way. Last check, still at the ram from the eastbound toll road to join the inner loop of the beltway closed by the works and you were under a post to detour there as a result, waiting on the all clear for that. Otherwise, the Greenland the toll road between at least we're going to probably not a bad ride in the through lanes in any event, and if you're headed out toward the airport, the access road good, leaving a beltway headed out toward Dallas, so no worries there. In Maryland, still at the closure of montrose road west 7 locks road in Potomac that due to a downed tree across the roadway. Texas Needs to Create a Confrontation With the Federal Government Over Border Crisis
"More complaining about to joe biden. And we know who he is. He is not the president of this country. He has some sort of aims ambitions to china or central america. We've gone into that many different times instead. We need to be solution-oriented. I do not like the politics of complaining. Now if you live in california. I get it. Texas is not california texas hill country. They'll secure the border. The good folks in fredericksburg texas. They won't put up with this at all. We also have to stop caring with the left and the media says about us to relevant play. Cut fifty two. But we want to show you why this camp got so big in the first place at swelled the fifteen thousand saturday morning hundreds of migrants at a time just streaming in from sudani kunia walking across the river and just illegally entering the united states without any resistance from our federal government whatsoever. They crowded on the shore and huge masses. We watched it for five six hours straight thousands coming in and eventually the only thing that stopped it was the state of texas and they literally formed kind of a wall if you will with their patrol vehicles and they stemmed the flow. They formed a wall and they stemmed the flow. Of course there's zero resistance from federal authorities. Federal authorities are under orders from the president to allow an open border society. And this really does open the question. And i've asked this question for the last couple months. And i think we're finally seeing an issue that is exposing how republicans are under prepared to deal with the actual crisis. That's happening in america. Which is how much power to the states. Actually have the federal government postures. They flex their muscles but we saw under the trump administration that the federal government backed down when sanctuary state and sanctuary city measures were passed in seattle in portland and san francisco. Los angeles what texas needs to do is create a confrontation with the federal government and the federal government will back down. Texas is the perfect place to test this out.

Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland institute ‘stay-at-home’ orders
"Order now we turn to Virginia WTOP's Max Smith Max just tell us first of all what is this order from the governor today do not Brandon it specifically says all individuals in Virginia so remain at their place of residence there are some exceptions but essentially the gist of this is that governor Northam is hoping the people who have not listened so far to the need to stay at home stay apart in slow the spread of this virus will listen now with this tougher titled order although like I said there are still some exceptions right and is there going to be I mean in in Maryland governor Hogan mentioned that people in this will be enforced he will be charged with a misdemeanor did governor Northam say anything along those lines yes so the penalty for violating this order just like the penalty for violating a governor Northam other orders is up to a year in prison because it's a misdemeanor and so in it's a little bit of a lower fine in Virginia and Maryland but it is it is the same idea you could theoretically face an actual criminal charge for violating these orders there are these exceptions to the orders if you need to go out for a central reasons like if you need to get food or if you need to go to the pharmacy or you need medical care or if you need to take care of but another family member who needs medical care but you still want to limit those trips even if you are qualifying under an essential reason and the governor Northam says that's really the point is to try to slow the spread of the virus now governor Hogan decided to a an outbreak and a senior facility and also other clusters in Maryland what what prompted governor Northam to to issue this at this time the primary things were two things one is wanting to be coordinated with the neighboring state so for Virginia that includes North Carolina Maryland and then they've been working with DC mayor Muriel Bowser as well and then they they're in touch with West Virginia but it's not quite to the same level the secondary thing is governor Northam saw all of the people out on the beaches this weekend particularly down in the Hampton Roads area who were not just out there like you're still going to be able to you which is just walk you know maybe running in the sand or fishing by yourself but they were hanging out in large groups and Northam said as I'm a doctor himself an army doctor who's been in these mass casualty incidents he kind of felt it in his heart this was putting those first responders the medical providers the EMS all of those people at a higher risk because it's speeding up the transmission of this virus and risking that this peak is beyond what Virginia can handle they are still preparing and trying to add more beds Mary Washington hospital in Fredericksburg area has set up an extra facility they're talking to the army corps of engineers about extra hospital beds but they would like to not need them or if they need them they would like to have the ones that they need available and so the key is that governor Ortom is now sort of taking this personally it feels like and lastly may access I I suspect no one really knows the answer to this but how long is it expected to last this order well yes no no obviously no one knows exactly how long but governor Northam order specifically says it lasts until June tenth unless otherwise amended or superseded governor Hogan's order is indefinite they didn't put a timeline on it but it lasts as long as the health care emergency is in place all right Max thank you very much WTOP's Max Smith on governor Northam stay at home order issued
