Lee making our communities safer because and I'm quoting you're creating an atmosphere where people are afraid to go to law enforcement based on their ethnicity I don't think the problem program as a whole is the best program for Frederick County. yeah that's true and see things are some problems with the program but even if she does the way our law works in Frederick County it is still completely the sheriff's program. so what is it it's like asking us questions about you know other issues which are out of our products that was out of our purview well the numbers like that of all seven of us didn't like it's not going to affect it well it it does seem though and I listen I don't think I'm being completely out of left field here by saying that there seems to be quite a bit of discussion amongst your colleagues about this policy and what whether it is effective and whether you should support it and in fact you vote now called for an audit of the program and the sheriff things that that's a a direct threat to his programmer sessions put words in his mouth but he said that is it was it was meant to undermine the validity of the two eight seven G. program. where there were some questions about the finances of the program has been around for goodness I guess eleven years now and have is never been audited by an outsider so. that would just answer the questions about I think it's probably gonna show once the articles sorrow that it would reflect our colonel it said which is it probably actually brings us more money than it costs us but that said that the audit I don't think is really going to make a whole lot of difference and I'll tell you why I think those who like the program does he think two eighty seven G. is a good program that gets bad people off the streets and out of the country if the program turns out to lose some money I don't think that's going to change their mind and those who just like two and seven G. who think it's immoral who think it's it's difficult on on people it it puts vulnerable people in a bad situation I don't think they're gonna suddenly like it if it makes money so I don't think it's going to have much of an outcome on the politics at all Jessica fits water is also an opponent of the program she's spoken out about it she says of local law enforcement shouldn't be enforcing federal law and she wants there to be a more public debate about this the let me ask you this because you said it is on the sheriff purview when you're right about that and I agree but I've just from your own perspective what you believe you are a public official you hold elected office do you believe that a person apprehended in Frederick County by law enforcement who is they have broken the law of Frederick County and they are in custody should they be reported to federal officials so that federal officials if they find they have violated immigration law they should be then dealt with at the federal level. I think that is the sheriff's call and I'll tell you why I say that I know I could comment on whether I like the program I don't like the program but then I'm gonna come on and every programs outside of our for you and I just don't do that I tell people look you pick a share of the person you want if you like the program both the person like the program if you don't don't it's the sheriff's call I had no intention of of getting involved in town sure about operator shop zero never comment on on issues are policies are outside your purview like that like gone matters you know where to go can control enticing on I stay in my life. right now you know everyone's going to be doing a Google search on you know to see if you can. I so what what is the future than here of this because the you know the it's funny all at many of your colleagues don't want to come on and talk about it they have made public as I read a couple of the quotes to you of a public comments on the program that the sheriff maintains there in Frederick County and said that they think that it undermines in is a net negative as our county as I see it I would say that you have three people on the council who completely support the program five you know they may have some financial questions about it then you have a couple of people on the council who have questions about the program that's that's it I don't think anybody has said anything about moving toward a sanctuary county status or or anything like that I really. I'm really sorry that this whole idea on it has as many people think of that there's gonna be some you know changing the program that much really as for the future of that I'd say that the election issue and in twenty twenty so it'll it wasn't twenty eighteen and most definitely will be twenty twenty two. all have their say they can make their decision they have their say and then whoever the share prices say thanks to her say for the next four years we will leave it there but I again truly do appreciate you coming on to join us on this and if the story does progress I would we'd love to tap into your your resources there and and let the audience had to be a male here from you again okay thank you are grabbing on I appreciate accounts Manjeri Donald first district of Frederick County Maryland so there you go you heard from the consummate sars is and and back he is a Democrat by the way I don't even I don't introduce him with his party affiliation but that that may be important to you I he's a Democrat he says honestly might my feelings on this are irrelevant because this is all the sheriff's call one hundred percent and if you don't like how the sheriff is enforcing laws in Frederick County vote him out. your reaction triple eight six thirty. five fifteen that email traffic.

So, you know, the last couple of years of the Obama administration when the black lives matters protesters were celebrated. And honored with visits to the Oval Office. And with Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, really calling into question basic police practices across the board making police officers feel like they were the problem, and they were the enemy on the streets. We've come a long way. And I I would love to hear from you. If you are a member of law enforcement, or if you're a family member, frankly, I think it's even more important for family members because you know, the spouses who have to kiss their husband or wife goodbye every morning and not know what kind of day, they're going to have it could be the worst day in the world when they don't come home. That's it's terrifying. And and in a very real concern for law enforcement, and in many respects it had gotten worse several years ago. But this president ran on law and order this president ran in part on bringing back respect and do deference to law enforcement in this nation. And I'd love to hear from you. If you think there has been a difference. And if not, frankly more importantly, if you're a member of law enforcement or family member of law enforcement, what should we civilians? What should we do to make life a little bit easier for you? It's it's one thing to have a law enforcement appreciation day. But it's another thing to actually live every day. It suddenly became an issue. Not just of national pride and patriotism, but also disrespect for the military. Like, I I heard from some people who actually agree with capper, Nick. Who said I'm not sure where the military got brought into this. But it's because of the flag. Because the military fights and dies on behalf of the flag and your disrespecting the flag, and what it stands for in there for that's a slap in the face to the military. And you know, me I wear my love for the Redskins on my sleeve. I talk about it a lot. I tell you what I'm going to games. I say it on social media. There's always somebody who says. Yeah.
