"There right now. Who feels reluctance or feels like. You're not the quintessential later. Maybe you're the right one for the job. In that conversation. I saw where he was coming from. Sure and what. I felt like you were saying i feel like you're a special kind of leader because you strike me and correct me if i'm wrong but you strike me like you're a creative leader. There is deep artistry in you and and some leaders like leadership is their art. But i feel like you have a broader tapestry. So sometimes it's hard to where the leadership mantle solely because there's all these other fasts of love you recognize. Is that accurate and is one hundred percent accurate. So tell me more about that and then when asked questions so i think i am. I don't wanna get pigeonholed into doing one thing. Know i think leadership feels very heavy for me. Because i'm so creative and i want to fly so like long term and by long term. I mean within the tent next ten years. I'd love to open up my own. Restaurant and with the goal of one michelin star. I don't want to three one michelin star. I love media and i love consulting creating. i love the power of digital media. And i'm also passionate about resourcing the next generation and my heart is incarcerated so it sounds like a lot. I don't really sleep a lot. But i get a lot done. And so the idea of just one sole thing of the leadership mantle does fill a little constricting. it feels constructing almost draining. Yeah you get energized by the novelty of that. And so that's i think that's a unique kind of leader. I think we don't always have that kind of leader on the show. And so when i was getting ready to interview is like oh we have a person who is almost like a creative. I and a leader second isaiah leader white proxy. Because i know your husband kind of has more. The stereotypical like executional german leadership. You know. he's he doesn't speak with an accent. But when he liked plans and strategizes. I hear him like alsi hostile. Tumbles all done you. Alexa drones couldn't tight and so he's the one that really keeps things moving forward so even in the name of love the nonprofit that i started resources incarcerated i. I'm the president. I'm the founder. But i knew i needed him to help scale. I needed him for the structure and even for the system. And we're able to bring on another co worker by the name chelsea and she thinks very similarly so they think very linear i think in wiggles circles and dots and dash lines so. And that's what i want to talk about. This is a this is perfect so the creative leader the anatomy of a creative leader because there are people out there who i think are like you and they may be tempted. They don't have craig in their life to very forcefully. Say you are a leader. But they are and charles barkley saying i'm not a role model it's like of course you are and i think there's a lot of creatives running around who do not own their leadership gifts and so would you mind speaking to that for a second. And how do you for the creative leader out there. What would you to say to them to help them. Maybe think twice about identifying a creative. Only so i'm going to try saying this without getting emotional. Because i feel i feel in my throat already. It's not gonna happen okay. So so this week leading up jealous well side. No slight caveat. I played sports my whole life. And some of the most impactful coaches were the ones that really did not let up and they saw something in me before. I saw it myself and so i feel the shaky through hold on so patrick called me last week. And he called me out of the blue and i just saw his name pop up my phone. And he's kind of like the pope to me. If pope ever calls you gotta answer passer causey answer and i walked into my meeting and answer the phone and he was encouraging me about dos. And one of the things that he said. And i haven't shared this publicly but he said bianca your your confidence has not matched and you're not aware of of your leadership capacity so your leaders confidence is not matched or leadership capacity. And i think having someone put language in articulate that He had to say three times. Because i'm slow. And i was home schooled and i ended up writing down major but i think that sometimes we just need someone to let us know how they see us and as a creative there is that part of you. That's almost always insecure. Because you're you're putting your out there and you want your art to resume you want people want to evoke an emotion. A feeling of them and i don't necessarily feel like that that this symbiotic relationship between leadership and evoking emotion and what passer craig did is that he saw something in me and i told him great. This season has been so hard so hard. And i feel like you are paulie and i'm rocky just bengal against the ropes of the ring. And you're like come on rock. And i felt that his word spoke over me and i would love to tell people out there who just made me feel like. I'm not a leader. I don't really wear this well no matter what whether you agree with the assessment or not. You're leading and i think what has done for me in full candor and disclosure is. I think i've self identified for the first time i leader in. I'm a good leader. And i think that's the power of what this conference does is that it speaks to the leadership potential and beckons people for more. Yeah i think the summit for longtime is married creativity and leadership when well this morning this thing that traded with hamilton. And it's like what is happening and this is awesome. It's inspiring and i feel like that's you. That's you wear those things really well. So i want to dig a little bit into that. So let's talk about pitfalls for the creative who's thinking about leading has. It's not as easy as it looks. So what are what are some things if you're talking to the creative who's also leader. What are some things you want to warn them of or maybe equip them for as they start taking baby steps into taking their leadership. Seriously i wish i would've told me this in college. So my undergrad is. I started out in business. And i realize it's not free and I ended up double majoring in business and studio art with an emphasis in our history. And i was going to go on and get my and open up an art gallery. Well i ended up The right brain and left brain working. But i wish they may twentieth would've told me the power structure so as an artist as a creative as somebody who loves to create you need structured and structure always felt limiting to me. it felt like a cage. It is and deadlines. Artists are the only ones that. Think that deadlines don't apply to them. You can't tell a plumber or plummer can't tell you i'm so sorry i can't unclog your toilet. I feel so uninspired job to do and if art a we as artists you know my background in our history mentioned and so you have somebody like matisse who woke up every morning and just created art on cezanne who was part of his daily schedule it just it was their job their job and you have amazing artists like picasso. That you know. Pay them with inspired. But i think the body of work that we have from cezanne emonet show much different and we have so much more and i think us as creative artists. We don't know what genius will strike unless we treat. This is our jobs. Our job is to create beautiful things. I didn't end up getting my hd. I went to my masters and it was on routes in my phd. And then i started serving in the church. And i was like i. Really god's complicated people so My master's is in aesthetics with an emphasis or humanities with an emphasis in aesthetics. The philosophy of what is beautiful has always intrigued me. So how i approach teaching the bible how i approach creating events creates wanting to open up this restaurant. I wanted to be a beautiful inspire real quick to take a pause and bring in another voice. frederick. Aaron is a creativity explore and just chock full of wisdom. Here is practical advice for those who don't identify as a creative and on the flip side for those who may identify as create a little bit too much. Take a listen. I two questions after.
