"Had the little side bet that he had with his friend. With regards to he would have been shot in the genitals. Because he's I made some stupid bed about signing a one year contract. Whatever. I understand it. Back to the matter is if you want the Braves to compete. For a World Series in 2021. Because let me tell you right now. I don't know if you bring him back, Ozuna. I won't have you bringing back Ma Lanson. Priority number one has got to be getting Freddie Freeman locked up for the future of this contract ending after next season. It's a difficult set of circumstances in a year, which are financially constrained. Oh, by the way. Not for nothing. 100 million comes off the books this offseason. That includes Cole Hamels 18 million, which really was only six million. But in terms of what applies to the luxury tax threshold, which next year they are assuming is going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $210 million. You only have 79 million of payroll already locked up for next year, which includes by the way 22.3 million to Freddie Freeman next year. So almost a third of your salary is dedicated to Freddie 13 million goes to Will Smith, who, by the way less than expected this year for him. Is that the guy you want in your back and your bullpen? This upcoming Ah, 2021 season. If you don't resign, my Lanson How about sitting here you're going. I'm not sitting here and saying you go up there and you spend all the way up to the luxury tax. But let's be real. You need those guys to maintain the success you had this year. And a 162 game season. Is a lot harder to get through and 60. You're gonna need more than five pictures. You're probably gonna need seven or eight. So we are probably going to see to Qi and new come and Davidson and Weigel and any one of those other guys. Come through Truest park on an emergency basis because someone's probably going to go on the deal because of overuse or soft tissue. One name that injury freak thing that happens to somebody. But in my mind The best opportunity for you to win in 2021 is with Ian Anderson is your fourth starter has nothing to do with his ability it has to do with the rest of the club. As far as the rest of the club. Here's Alex Anthopoulos talking about the big elephant in the room, and that is whether or not they bring Marcel Ozuna back to this ball club for next season. We went into last offseason, a whiff. Plan was to try to find the back knowing that there's no gang obviously when someone gets crazy, but The upside of free agency. We had Ozuna as a guy that we really like to talk sensibly would give us what Donald gave us if not more, just with what we had internally, but it's going to be right there. We had a north of 900 0 P s and so on. 1000 fits so well because we had been so so. Right now, our hope and our goal is to have you back. Um, should things not work out that way. The plan will be kept very tight left. Very tight lipped, he says. Very type which again understand? No one's no one's blaming him for being tight lipped about it. But The way he sounded yesterday. Made it sound like a guy. Wasn't optimistic about where the market's going to be for him. And because of that, I have significant doubts about whether or not he comes back as Faras. The bullpen goes. Another IFI situation, if you proposition because Donald, do you have Marc Melanson to contend with what that decision making, But you also have Shane Greene. The bullpen. You've got four guys on this roster who had closed at one point in time. For their particular teams. They played for priests for this one. And because of that. You have a scenario now that plays out with the Braves, where you could be losing two of those guys. And you might be turning things over to The guy Randy Mac likes to call 77. Maybe you you're you're hopeful that a J mentor turned a corner, Tyler Matic turned a corner. And you can count on other of those guys. You're probably not going to deal with a 28 man roster next year, but at the same time I think you need to have one of those two guys back, whether it's Melanson or green. Here's double A on the Braves pen. I think the one thing I've learned over time is having the bullpen depth is pretty Critical important, especially guys will get hurt, and I won't perform. But you know how dramatic and agent mentor to Shinjuku tenders for us as well and they're coming back. So we feel like we have four lady and guys in Martin. Miss Minter Matic right now what We think we see those guys will get the ball in big spots in the playoffs. But look, Lanson was fantastic force and we love being here. Shane Greene was amazing forces while he carried his bullpen. 1st 56 weeks just felt like so, um, you know, he was one of our better relievers as well for a long time, and then he really didn't get a chance to pitch much in the Miami Siri's and the Red Siri's But he had a fantastic Siri's against that way, especially that first outing when he came in and struck out five and so who like both? I think we'll have conversations with both. Well, that goes. I'm not sure I like the fact that we have for late inning, guys as a starting point, that certainly nice, But why have people come You know, I gotta get out. Understand? Tough spot. No one says he isn't. But I mean, I wish I wish I heard more confidence from him like this. And then I'II probably isn't confident and I get it. I understand why But like I want to hear him come out and say Yeah, we want it back..

They will match up in the fall Classic starting tomorrow night, the Dodgers in the World Series for the third time in four years as they beat the Braves in Game seven of the NLCS last night, 4 to 3, they're raised the 31 serious deficit. Cody Bellenger hit the tie breaking home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Mookie Betts been another incredible catch. He robbed Freddie Freeman of a possible home run the Dodgers down to nothing early, but they rallied to get the win again. The Dodgers and the Rays game one of the world's Siri's tomorrow

"His world folks, and we're all privilege to live in it after robbing Atlanta's Freddie Freeman off what might have been an NLCS Siri's winning homer with an exquisitely time leaping catch on Sunday 2018 American League MVP who was inexplicably traded from the Red Sox, the Dodgers during this past offseason. He stole the show last night in World Series Game one that's walked in the fifth inning and stole 2nd and 3rd before scoring. The last player with a walking two steals in the same World Series inning was Babe Ruth, also after he was traded from Boston. Bets, then clouded a solo homer will lead off the sex. Mookie is pretty special, said winning pitcher Clayton Kershaw. Those things on the baseball field but not many, Khun do and he doesn't consistently which I think separates him. And I would agree with that. Hey, John. I've just got to tell you that for.

"1st and 2nd. Then dance me Swanson in Austin Reilly. They each move up a base on a wild pitch. All of this while Nick Markakis was at the plate, however, think about this. There's nobody out. The Braves have just taken a one run lead. They got runners at 2nd and 3rd. That this happens. There's a pitch swing in a ground ball to third. Coming home is Turner and they got Swanson in a run down. They throw to Smith back to Turner. Turner puts the tag on the runner. Now we throw to third. They tag Riley. And it's a double play 5 to 56. They get them Both. They get Swanson and Riley all of a sudden what looks to be a huge ending potentially for the Braves. Roof goes up, doubt done. 32. Still, Braves do have the lead. They would continue with the lead. Although Ma'am in the fifth. Freddie Freeman thought he extended it by one first one. Freeman swings and drives it at a year. Right field That's going back a track nearthe wall jumps and he caught it. They stole a homer from Freddie Freeman. What a play. Mookie Betts has done it again. Holy cow! Yeah, it's probably the best thing you could say both without getting in trouble. I mean, mochi bets in back to back days. Yesterday was good. This was ridiculous. He absolutely Rod Freddie Freeman of a home run. It remained a 32 game. All of this Well, each team works their way through Patriot. Justin May only went in, and Tony Johnson went to Blake trying and went to for Dave Roberts, who started grad or all came in, he went and ending on the flipside Tyler Matic Green.

"When you look at the way Kevin Kerr stuck with Tyler. I'd like to call in glass because we broke the glass yesterday for a career high of 112 pitches did Did he stick waiting too long? Because that counts started to get up there with me In the fifth inning, I started to see a little wear and tear on that. What do you think about what he did? Yeah. I was surprised that he stuck with him as long as he did. I will tell you that part of the reason why I asked Kevin about this beforehand. Tyler Glass now is a very fun guy. He's an excitable guy. And I have Kevin ahead of time. You know, how do you think you'll handle the adrenaline and he started laughing yet? That's always the question. You know, sometimes in the first inning, he'll come out trying to throw 104 MPH guys. That's what happened last night. I think you're talking about a younger pitchers first experience in the World Series, and he was saturated by adrenaline. You know, six walks, and I think Kevin knowing that you know that is a glass now has such great stuff was hoping that he would stabilize and he never really did. But I was getting a text from managers with other teams, saying they thought that Kevin would be more aggressive going to the bullpen. This was interesting to me, Buster because the skipper Dave Roberts said. You know, after the game if Mookie Betts was with us, the Dodgers in 2018 were to beat the Red Sox. But the double height. What does that say about the guys we had on the roster? 2080 s. So what? What did you make of those cabins? That I felt he was stating the obvious Yet When you take one of the two best players in baseball and switching from one team to another, it probably will make a difference. You know, Mookie Betts is probably The best 52 player in baseball. I mean, he in the last three days, four days has done absolutely everything you think about that. You know that catch he made against the Braves running in catching it down by his ankle, making the beautiful throat home plate doubling off. Throwing out the runner at home, going back to defend leaping up making those the homerun saving catch against Freddie Freeman. The stolen base last night. The grace baserunning instinct. And then to go the opposite field. The funny thing is is when movies going great. He's pulling the ball. He's not really an opposite field hitter, and he's not really swinging the bat that well, it's just Such an unbelievable player that he is dominating without really being in his peak swinging the bat really quick for me. You got we got 10 seconds. Why? Trout as the best and not Mookie bits just really quick and we could have a lower conversation another time. Pure power trout as good as a base runner as movie, but in terms of the power impact those statistics, you know, trout's been better. And you know what? Maybe the mantel will shift here in the next couple years, we'll wait to see a championship for Mookie Betts. Another one would certainly do that is course Mike Travis appeared in the playoffs just one time in his career. And when you sit next to a couple of pro athletes, they always say it's about the rings and the trophies and Mookie's Got one. He's looking for another trout. Still trying to get to the LCS first time. Same career. I'm just saying, is he when when you come to a team, and you affected a certain way that I just don't know, But that time was already built to be a champion team. He just to finish in peace. It's just it feels different columns. Trout has never won a postseason. Siri's, but the numbers are infallible. He has the best numbers of any player in the modern era. You could even stretch back To the old school guys. His numbers compare with war straight wins above replacement Nobody better than Mike Trout. That is for sure. Game tonight You're such a homer questions still to come. The Cowboy's ready to trade for a quarterback. Just how rare is that Making moves is brought to you by Lincoln Jobs After falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1982 NBA finals, the 76 years needed to find the right player to build.

"Definitely Fallon and sprinting at the last minute. Next one is found off the plate. They're showing Cody Ballenger. I think he hurt his arm celebrating early arm out of its socket signal. He was giving high fives. There's no one to get a foul out of play off to the left Freddie Freeman trying to get on base or hit one out the Braves down a run. It's 43. And again, the Dodgers doing magic with two outs next pitch, fouled off back to the screen and Freddie Freeman Hang in there. Tough bad he is. Guy will likely win the National League MVP this year. Wanted to RIA's left. You works out of the stretch, even with nobody on fires, and Freeman wouldn't bite down on a way to to take by Freddie Freeman put Freddie Freeman and Paul Goldschmidt is the two hitters. "It's going to be interesting to see if this becomes a national story it did last night. He was on CBS and ABC about Attorney General Daniel Cameron on his saving on the judge's decision yesterday in the case involving grand jurors, because What is that can of worms, and it opens that will grant jurors throughout the nation be permitted. Tio discuss different cases, and then you get into what was or was not presented, particularly if you have a grand juror or two or five or whatever the case may be. That may disagree with the way the rulings come out from a prosecutor's to what they're going to wind up or not. You know, in these particular cases, just like we've seen here so it could be a big can of worms. No doubt about it, And I think camera tried to point out last night and said so in a tweet. As special prosecutor is my decision to ask for an indictment on charges that could be proven under Kentucky law? Indictments obtained the absence of sufficient proof under law, do not stand up and are not fundamentally fair to anyone. That's kind of the I won't call it an excuse, but that's kind of his just as two. So what did or didn't occur before the grand jury based on what he felt would be able to be a plus prosecutorial? Not so it's a hard job away around for all of these peoples, and of course, the case has been Very very said did you guys get a chance to watch? I'm changing subjects here for a second. Did you watch the World Series last night? That all I did for about maybe Well by the time I left here we were doing money for 11 last night at home about 8 30. I watch for maybe 20 minutes, the rays just or not captivating me at all. Yeah, I watched a little bit and People in Tampa Bay don't care about the race because there clearly that there there option was stay in Florida or go to Montreal, and they picked Montreal. So I can't do it. It's I mean, I'm the only thing I was keeping an eye on is I didn't want the Astros to be in the World Series. I didn't want the Astros to win anything because the asteroids are cheating terrorists. And you have that Melissa, but you're going to get into it. It could be a good man. Matt. Matt's bet his own team to he wanted to. Yeah, I mean that because the Astros went full trash bag, there's no way around it. And So I'm fine and I could live with the Dodgers. I could live with the race about needing a half problem for me. I'm pulling for the race. Just because I have friends that live in the Tampa been several games. You know, I like him. I mean, you know the way the fighting geysers have absolutely, baby. But what will Smith had Ah, head of both run an R B I that game. I'm not mistaken. The former Yugo Cardinal Yes, Scott Nice to stay in the Game seven. Apparently, the National League Championship Series was the most watched national non NFL sporting events since January. In the most watched MLB game outside of the World Series. Since since 2017. Now to the other side of that the Astros Reyes was the least watch MLB Game seven ever. So that tells you kind of been really where America's Yeah. I mean, even my high school buddies were texted me last night that I didn't know any of these players on the res. Because it's well, you look at the A L. Siri's. You've got small market. Tampa Bay, which is basically one step above a bunch of guys who played sand lot and what? Well, look at their roster. You look at their roster. Their entire payroll is, I think, like 28, a half for something like million dollars. And that's two players on the Dodgers roster. I think it will do you good point, Kershaw and somebody else? I mean, I mean, we're talking about this is a true David and Goliath here. I mean, this is this is well, I mean, they mean the race prove their mettle, though, beating some pretty good teams. In fact, they have a better record. Against the winning and then do the Dodgers that was pointed out last night. But the problem is is really three. The rates were like 20 or 21, 9 used winning teams. The problem is you have a 60. You don't even have a full season here, so I'm watching. I'm watching MLB for the players like the Freddie Freeman's. The Nick Markakis is the Clayton Kershaw's I'm watching for the players this year. I'm not because I'm if I were going to bet that if I were gonna bet my entire mortgage, I would go to Vegas invented. If we had to play a full season, the res wouldn't be there. If you know it's interesting because one of things John Smaltz was commentating last night and he said these rays were built for the long haul he goes. I know it's only a 60 games. This was what smote said. He said. They were built to go. You know the 162 game? That's easy. That's easy to say when there's no 162 games, sees that, and you know that's exactly what that's a talking point to appease. The Rays crowd. I love Smalls. Don't get me wrong, but I watched a little bit of the Rays earlier this year. I don't know about that bullpen. They have snow on pitching, but maybe, but all my tastes in my mouth so well, That's what that.

Atlanta Braves overcome Cincinnati Reds in longest scoreless duel

"The Braves Post season opener was long and stress filled, but in the end, they got the perfect ending at truest park. Now, today, the Braves have the chance to close out this best three of going through one of three wild series. It was a very stressful for half hours. Braves hitters struck out 21 times, part of a two team postseason record. 37. But it was Freddie Freeman, who turned stress to joy, his RV guy single in the 13th inning, lifting the Braves to a one. Nothing win over the Reds all worth it. In the end, we struck out 40 times as long as we win great pitching on both sides manager Brian Snitker watching his starter, Max freed in the bullpen. I don't care who you're playing, you throw up 13 innings of zeros. It's pretty special Edgar Trick. It's 95.5 WSB ink and first pitch set for noon Tomorrow.

Phillies owner John Middleton questioned after deciding to fire Gabe Kapler

"Last year. Hindsight's great, but it wasn't hindsight. John Middleton at the news conference last year when Hey, fired Gabe Kapler, and this is self explanatory, and let's hear John When you fired Ruben Amaro, you said it's a results based business, right? Gabe Kapler took the hit. And I'm wondering why it was just Gabe Kapler. And I, among other people are wondering why this and I like both Matt and Andy. Why those two gentlemen are sitting with you today after what you've done, so I'm gonna ask you a question. How are you going to give you some stats? The question is this You tell me what part of this organization isn't better today and really substantially better today than it was four years ago when they came So that's a little minor league system and I see since match drafted I believe you have two players that made the major leagues and Kohler bring this year and hazily. So outside of that, I'm wondering there's a feeder system. Other teams have injuries and they've overcome them. The Phillies couldn't and I don't think it was all games for, but I realized the decision had to be made. But what did he have to support him? From your draft picks. So happened Let me I've got the bullpens IRA, but to answer your question in the second half of the season, particularly from the trade deadline on Howard Isn't it? The fourth highest for the best bullpen? You're a in baseball. So this kind of sit there and say that covered was bears is not true, because if that's the case, then what about the other 2016? The worst bullpen. The cupboard was bare. Look at the bullpen this year. I love the way McClintock and he looked at Macklin Tak when he said that he fed him all these stats. Two roll out during this news conference. That's a joke. The bullpen the fourth best from July on well, this season doesn't go from July 1, and that's It was, it was a mirage. It was a joke to defend him and then animate failure says Well, we have three players in the top 100 baseball in the minor league system. There's 30 teams. That's barely an average. The Braves had five in the top 64. So let's go. Let's move on. So this week, McClintock and this is beautiful, too. This is a joke. God, let's go with McClintock. Um I am really proud of this team the way that they have overcome Not only the cove it issues early in the year, but more recently, the way the guys have stepped up to overcome some of the injuries that we've had Andi put themselves in a position this week to control their own destiny on DH Make a push for October. Um, that's probably The biggest thing for me, Bob is that I'm proud of the way this group is handled it. There's been, um, you know again, there been many challenges, most of which you've written about, but Just to see guys. Come up from the system and contribute to see the way that No nap and March John have performed in Jae Hee's absence to see The way that bone has been able to slide over from third to first security downs from 2nd 3rd to help us navigate. Reese is injury. Um, you know the way that Kodiak come up and got a couple of big plate appearances for us. I'm sure I'm missing. Jo Jo and Brandon have taken down beginnings the last couple of weeks. I think that's the thing I'm most proud of with. This group has been really rallied around the next man up mentality and put themselves in a good position heading into the final week. It's a joke. It's a joke I spin. He is the new spin doctor, Philadelphia. They've navigated through the Kobe. So is every other team. The Cardinals are still in it, and they had 11 doubleheaders. The Marlins had to sit in a hotel room for over over seven days, and they're in the playoffs. I don't want to hear about navigating through it. I don't want to hear about injuries. The Braves lost at one time or another, Every one of their five starters. They lost Freddie Freeman at the beginning of the year. They lost a kuna. I mean, it's a joke to you to say, Oh, yeah way injuries and bone moves from third to 1st 1st is probably his natural position and sugar goes from 2nd and 3rd. He started the season at third. It's been It's nonsense, and Jo Jo You know, coughed it up the last two outings. Stop stop. They actually got a break The way Hoskins was hitting that those things happened in their offense, maybe became a little bit better in five years. He's got one player to show for it. "Then you go, you go Houston and you know that Costco in Arlington anyway, we've made it through Monday. We got through Tuesday and Wednesday, which during football season of the 22 toughest days to get through, right. It feels like you're still right. You still buzzing or you're reeling from from Sunday or Monday, and then you like to just get me some more football. Get me to Thursday because Friday night Friday nights, Okay, because you start getting into the bad you start hanging out. You look forward to your weekend Friday. I can get through. It's Tuesday and Wednesday that a bit of the rough ones. We're over the hump. We get a little football game tonight. It's the Battle of Ohio. And you know, we do the half past headlines overnight. Dave always puts together like you know, some notes or some stats or scores or schedules for the games are coming up for this weekend or tonight or today, things for me to throw into the half past they've put tonight is the battle of Ohio, Cleveland against the Browns against Bangles, Cleveland, Cincinnati and he said the winner gets to leave Ohio. Loser. What was the line? Dave? I lost the paper winner. Yeah, Loser Loser gets Ohio. That's it. 1st 1st place a week in Ohio second place two weeks. That's the line any way on the other side. We've got some stuff We got to get to because Gabe Kapler and talking Giants baseball from yesterday talking about his starting pitcher, talking about what they're dealing with here. And by the way, you may be without Alex Dickerson, who had three hits last night offense with a great showing Brandon Crawford on pace for a career season. Be it in 60 games. Brandon Belt hit another bomb last night has to be feeling pretty good. Alex Dickerson. Three more hits. Danny Solano is leading the National League batting average. Yet again, this guy could be the it's like him and Freddie Freeman right now. Afraid. Freeman thought he was going to be fighting anybody for a batting title This year. It was gonna be Don Solano. And I don't think so, anyway. Freddy for its Ah salata hitting 3 55 after his three hits yesterday, so Pretty maybe just two hits for him yesterday, anyway, Solano lead in the NL in batting average, so we'll get to a little Giants baseball talk. But then we got to focus on the 40 Niners who are dealing with, you know a plethora of injuries now. George Kendall didn't practice yesterday, but the Jets are banged up to the Jets have got a lot of injuries of their own. So we'll hear a little bit from Adam Gays and Frank Gore took the podium yesterday for the Jets to get some good audio from those guys. We'll hear from Causton and we'll hear from Jimmy Garoppolo on him getting to meet Mohammed Sunu. There's money of 40 Niners stuff to get to before Sunday against the New York Jets, Anyway, on the other side, more giant stock Then we turn our sights to the New York Jets and gangrene for your San Francisco 40. Niners. Plenty more coming up. It's a Thursday morning. Oh, dude, we start drinking at noon today. Of the sports leader because Thursday and it's past noon.

Cleveland Indians Ace Shane Bieber Developing Into One of the Top Starters in MLB

"Talk about Shane Bieber who last night another great start and it was looking at his numbers this morning. Mad. He's faced one hundred, fifty batters in those he struck out sixty five, he's allowed five runs the whole year four those on home runs runners in scoring position forty, one innings or forty and two thirds innings pitched and only been ten situations in which a batter came up with a runner scoring position, and they're all for ten when we were lucky enough. To have him on a Sunday night, broadcast a couple of weeks ago and they're not many times would do in a broadcast and you're watching pitchers stuff and it's kind of taking your breath away. But that start watching his cut fastball particular it's curb all good Lord I don't know that anybody hits him. Yeah, and you know I mean I I you had the same kind of Breathlessness when you watch him as is when you watch a handful of other guys in the League. Like Derek Cole. I don't know if you saw Casey. Anything Casey mize's debut the other night. Yeah. Man. There were flashes in there where you might goodness split finger, fastball moves screwball. And boy those guys are fun to watch the way. They can manipulate the ball and I'll use a pitching coach term, shape their pitches. By the way I don't ever remember hearing people talking about shaping pitches before rap Soto, and some of the baseball factories that exists around the country now, Yemen. Bieber is fun to watch and when he first came up I, I don't know that any of us took him seriously as an ace in wait he had terrific minor league numbers maybe we should've taken him that seriously had always been a huge kind of strikeout-to-walk ratio guy. Those numbers were always really great in line with the guy that could play in the big league level. But it it maybe it's because he came from from UCSB and it's a very small intimate list of major league players to come from the University of California Santa Barbara. Not a lot of gauchos out there I mean just top of mind and a crisper went. To UCSB, Quinn Mack ucsb Guy Ryan spill boards. UCSB. Guy But it's a small list, right? So. He didn't come with the kind of pedigree that would indicate that this guy's in there and heard you talk about this to be there's something in the sauce in Cleveland. There's something they do developmentally with the air and cer- volleys and the you know Zach Lease Accent Mike cleansers even though that discussion has taken a different track or something that happens with those guys when they get there that takes them to the next level. We we give the Astros a lot of credit for bringing great pitchers to the Uber Grade Level I. Think we have to have that conversation about the Indians as well. You Lie Spirits Sports Bureau Senate there's no chain. BIEBER's the fourth pitcher fifth instance in the modern era since one, thousand, nine, hundred, sixty, five strikeouts in his first six starts this of the. Season Nineteen seventy-eight Nolan Ryan at seventy one, two, thousand, Pedro, Martinez Sixty seven two, thousand, one, Pedro Martinez Sixty six, and then you have shamed bieber and curt schilling with sixty five. So he's off to an incredible start

"Home, too. The season opener in truest Park. Freddie Freeman is at VH tonight, so he's not in the field, so they got what What do we determine? Jarvis? What's his nickname? Was it Magic City? It's a big country or what, what we say Big, big bubble Rogers. What? What We determined that his nickname was Matt Adams playing first base tonight. It's something like that. It's like, you know, big country or something like that, er, big bubble Rogers or something. You know, Dusty roads made that gimmick form or something like that. So whatever it is, they got him playing that Adam's playing at first base tonight. This is where the D h really benefits the Braves is giving Freddie Freeman the chance to Still swing the bat. But not have to go out in play in the field. So, um You know, I expect to Seymour of this, You know, out of Freddie Freeman especially is right handed pitching where they could bring Adam's in and let him play first. Really, You know, if you look last year, that's all Adam did was play first base. I mean, the only the only position that he played. I believe for the nationals after his first base, and he had 20 homers, and you know, not not a full season of it that so. No, he's still got some pop and you know, it kind of is what it is. He's a nice addition to this club. But I expect that will see several times where he'll get a chance to play first base so Freddie Freeman. L D. H What we say Big country Magic City we built this city year. Something like that Matt Adams will be at first base. Tonight. We'll see a car right? Does Um, you know, obviously, the pitching rotation, you know, kind of shook up a little bit after the news on Mike Fulton, Novich and oh auras, some radio host of called him for now, which But we'll talk about that coming up for the next segment. About what this means. No kind of life without without faulty, um innit, but brace trying to get back on track. Now look. One guy who's struggling and he's over one You know, tonight is Ronaldo Cooney Jr. Now we said last night. I'm not necessarily worried about a coon yah, but his stat line is pretty amazing. Um First of all, Let me say to Jarvis that Tom Glad was talking about the bra on the broadcast about how many walk since the Freeman is has gotten this year and how they're taking the bat out of his hands. What's almost like if Tommy would just listen to a certain night time radio host. He'd have already known this month's in advance because Freddie Freeman still sitting at number two in major League Baseball in Walks, I think rings Hoskins, the only guy I think Riggs has seven, and Freddie has six. Ah, the most second most walks in in baseball by himself, by the way in there, but the guy who also leads the majors in strikeouts. Would be Ronaldo KUNA. And like I said last night I'm not worried about Ronald Kun..

"The 23rd and yesterday I did. My first really 45 minute workout like legitimately went after it. I'm sor today, but I feel good. I feel good, and I actually can now say that I'm officially done with Corona virus like today I'm 100% back today. It was a month. A month. It took me a month to get here. And I was arguing with people of all the media members and non media members over the weekend about Freddie Freeman off the Braves. The fact that he said that he had 104.5 fever and they're going to bed at night was the worst. I told you guys that exact same thing, and people are saying that he's milking it. Freddie Freeman is not milking it. Guys, all right, He's not milking it. It's like you can recover. It's not a death sentence. You can get covert 19 b. Okay. You can I'm living proof. My wife is living proof. My daughter is living proof You could become positive. You can deal with the virus and you could be OK. We don't know what the long term is. But in the short term We're okay. But it's a month. It's legitimately a month and so today I feel I don't know I feel really happy. I feel really excited. I feel really lucky to be on the air. Today. I feel great to have my health. I feel great to have my lungs. I feel great to get on here and talk about sports gambling with you guys. God. Okay, Weekend Bad week. I didn't do very well, my pics of the going 10 and three for the week before I fell on my face last week, But that's what happens right? You up really hot and you get really cold. Wasn't great. "Jeffrey Osborne, What did they say? What was that group? Lt d. Jarvis? Is that what they were? Lt D d? Yeah. Watching Orlando and Miami hears MLS has gotten back on track 11 By the way, I can't Ah, 88 88 minutes or something like that. 88 89 minutes. My eyes are my eyes really getting bad like I can. I'm having trouble reading some of that stuff on TV. That's small print just messes me all up. Jarvis and I were kind of joking about the fact that watching this it does look weird. Without the fans. It feels like It's a high school scrimmage. You know this? This feels like a soccer match on a Tuesday afternoon in high school, and another team comes in and He just kind of have a match with no with nobody there, you know, not not even the parents, sir. Are there any thing Just kind of got a weird kind of look and in vibe to it now. Ah, The funny part is guys having masks on the bench and sidelines as they sweat and spit. All over the field and everything, but you know, that's that's all part of it, I guess out there, so ah, 11 Still in this in this thing. Ah, pretty good corner there. Bye bye. Miami almost almost put it in. But, um Yeah, it's at least listen. At least it's it's MLS is back, and this is actual competition. And guys look like they're going at it. I mean, I haven't seen anybody really look like they're pulling up or Any sort of thing like that. So obviously Atlanta United will take the field on Saturday night. All your action right here on sports Radio. Many tonight the game with Jason Long shorn Mike. My Connie will have the call for all of that. Now, Speaking of Atlanta sports and getting back into action, the Braves today with their first quote unquote inter squad scrimmage, if you will, um You know, obviously life without Freddie Freeman right now, as he still balan effects of covert 19 diagnosis, And then of course, you know, develop symptoms and you know was been sick and you know it. Watching his wife, you know, putting out her information about you know how he's doing in this day and the other so, Ah, prayers and well wishes a Freddie Freeman, But you know, we've talked a lot about even going into this short 60 game season. You know, the Braves are still one of the most talented teams. In Major league baseball. You take their top three in that Ozzy Asari, Junior Ozzy and Freddie Freeman. That's as good as there is in Major league baseball. You know, we've talked about their young starting pitching. We've talked about the fact that they've won the division the last couple of years and on and on and on about all the accolades and things like that, that there's no reason to think that the Braves even in this crazy shortened pandemic, this that and the other season can't get it done. Can't be a play off team and maybe make a run this year to that world. Siri's getting backto Get back to championship level baseball for the Atlanta Braves. So It asked the question. We've talked about all the things good about Atlanta Braves. What are some of the things that have to happen or what are some things that could happen? That would cause this thing to go sideways. Well, I think a couple of things I think number one is, you know you have to make sure your stars or your stars. You know, you can't afford to have a Ronaldo Cooney Jr In a season like this start off, hitting 1 82 for the 1st 2025 games. You know of the year. You can't afford to have one of those star players, Freddy or Ronald. You know, you know, even you know if you want to put Ozuna into that that mix as well, You need your stars to be stars. That over the course of a long major league baseball season. You know, Star players, you know, even Mike trout, Freddie Freeman. They go through their slumps in their laws. You know, Freddie goes through those stretches where he continually strikes out. Doesn't put the ball in play batting average will drop down below 300. You know, that'll last for a couple of weeks, and then he'll be back. Well, Unfortunately, in this environment, though, you can't afford to have any of those guys get into any sort of funk because number one, you know, 20 games is 1/3 of a season. You knows we're on Ly gonna play 37% of a full season to start with 20 games of it becomes 1/3 of a season. About the other part is you're going to play your guys every day. And we're talking about this game lesson. I think you have to play your star players that 1st 20 games every day. Well, they need a break or this that we've had a break for 2.5 months. They've had a break for a while. 20 games, and you've got a 23 year old 22 year old 21 year old 28 year old. You gotta play every day. Cause you get the August and you're going to get some breaks. You know, in there, you're going to get some days off in there, but that 1st 20 games you gotta play well, when you played that, though, you've got to be productive. Cause you can't afford to sit Ronaldo Cooney Jr for say, a couple of games because he just needs to, you know, just get out of a funk or something that you gotta play these guys. So you need your stars to be your stars. If you get a guy that gets in any kind of extended slumped, you're really counting on it could be it could be, You know, tough beats up for this team to bounce back from in all of that. Another part of it, too, is You've got a high price bullpen that we say has a lot of depth. Those guys have to perform and you have to avoid that dreaded blown saves in underperformance. By this bullpen. I mean, let's face it. The Braves have invested a lot of money with green and the Lanson and will Smith. You know, those aren't guys working for fish heads and rice and duck soup. You know those guys, you know? Those guys were getting paid well to be capable Major league relievers, and they've all been, you know, closers. I guess they've all been all star.

"Rather see those guys be able to get a shot, Tio. You know, get some games in gets amid bats And now, obviously, too. They also have the D h in place, you know as well. So there'll be some other at bats. You know for some guys. But rather than go out and bring in a gossip week where, you know, Listen, could you get red hot for awhile? Yeah, I mean, he's you know, he's always been a streaky type of player in his career. You know, he'll go through phases where he's Bro streaking. But he's also a guy that's been around the book is out on him. You sort of know what you get with Yasiel Puig with one of your young guys, I think there's a lot more unknown. For the good, The bad. The ugly of it. Listen, you may have one of those young guys come in, and, you know, start off over 25 or something like that. Well, the reality is is that you know, you can't afford to have Anybody come in in, you know, really put you behind the eight ball, you know, especially for the Braves are on the season. We got 20 consecutive games. So I would tend to err on the side of stay with my youth and stay with the plan. Versus going out and trying to get themselves another player, you know, adding another outfielder into the mix. You know, not to mention that they have You know? Look, I'm not talking about Adam Duvall starting, but you know, if you if you if you have to put him into a mix With some other guys because I do think given usually what snicker likes to do. I do think that, um, ender Inciarte is going to get a real chance. To be the starting centerfielder, cause he's a Senate guy. It's one of Snickers guys. And let's say if you don't have Freddie Freeman at the start of the year You could very much have ender Ozzy Aku nya Ozuna you at the top of your particular lineup. You know you could you could have those guys swap out 12 or what? Have you out there so You know there's different ways that the manager could approach the lineup if Freddie Freeman is not available to it. I don't think another guy that that you know It is interesting to see you know, depending on how they want, you know, depending on what? Let's say Freddie gets back. You know, And you know gay was talking about Adam Duvall being a better defensive outfielder. Well, I mean, that's also part of what Johan Camargo has made his name on was he came up with a defense of prospect now, albeit A lot more in field than then outfield for it all. Still, I I I think the mark is a guy. That would be interesting to see I lie. I just want to see him get regular advance. I think if he gets regular it bats at a position that he's got some. He's got some productivity for. But you know, in this kind of season, he may be more valuable. In a role where he could play multiples of positions. You know, if you get some guys that don't come in hot and you want to, you know, you want to get some, You know, get some guy some, you know, rest or sit them for a night because They're not playing really well. Welcome. Mark was the guy who can play everywhere on the field. Dance. Be struggling. You could put Camargo it short, third base. We know he can play their left field. Second base. I mean, like I said he could literally play. About everywhere that you need him to play. But at the end of the day, I want to see the young guys. You know, Water's posh A. Those kinds of guys I want to see them get the chance to be able Tio show what they have. And I would much rather roll the dice and take the chance on the idea off my young guys catching lightning in a bottle and getting hot. Cause it doesn't take much in a 60 game season. You get one guy for 20 games 2/3 of the season. You know, in a regular season, you're talking about a guy having to be red hot, You know, on fire for 54 games. Here. We're talking 20 And guys can absolutely over 20 game stretch. Be red smoking hot. With no information on him with no book on him. Without without all the without all of the Ah, you know flaws of their swing in their game. You know, already exposed out there, There's there's a lot of ways that That young players and we've seen young players all throughout the history of baseball that come in red hot number that Kevin Mosses of the world and the Matt Nokes. Got it. The old school. Remember some of those guys point was the same way. We came in member what we came up. How red hot was he? Right. Like he didn't heed either. He made the All Star team Or almost made the All Star team in his rookie year because he was so red hot at the start of the season. So it can happen with some of these young guys. You could get a guy with no book. No tape. No, no note card, you know, on as far as what his flaws are, and all of a sudden, I mean, when you have loved have had on Austin Reilly streak like he had when he first came up. In a season where you've only got 60 games. Cause that could make a huge difference to your team. And in a year where every game is going to be important where every game counts. Where you really can't afford to, you know, not be, you know, in it to win it every single night. You know that 1st 20 games of the season? You gotta have dance. Be an ICU, Nya and Alba's. You gotta have those guys playing every day. They've got to be in that line up every single day. And then you know, Once you get into August, you're going to get some days off so guys can have a chance to rest some but for my young guys in the 1st 20 games, I want to see them playing. And I would I want to see some of my young guys also get a chance to.

And I didn't see how they can control all those people from the all the teams. And the trainers and everybody else. Had not has somebody get that virus. It's been enough down here now. Um and Just, you know, just area like they're there. Are they your counting on a lot of people to do the right thing for potentially a very long period. I don't know what the total number of people are going to be there. I mean, there's a maximum capacity for each team, but but the point is, some teams are going to be eliminated very quickly. They're not going to make the playoffs. They're going to be out of there, and there's going to be less exposure. But in general, if you're talking about a team that's making a deep playoff run, Yeah, I mean that you could be down there 70 some odd days. And the basically the same thing in baseball with, um Ah, you're going to have some cities which are really having a problem with the virus. Ah, in like, even tamp it down here in Miami. I don't understand. I can't understand why The virus. One hit some of these teams and just like when they get the flu. It goes right through the whole team. Ah, Ah, I just, you know subsidies very good shape. But something is really, really weird is going well. Steve, Here's what's going to come down to you. They're gonna have to stay in their in their hotels. They're going to go right from the hotel to the game and back from the game to the hotel, and even then. You know, you're gonna have to be fortunate that there isn't some bizarre circumstance with, you know their rooms or somebody. They, you know they entity that come again attacked within the hotel. Yeah, yeah, It's just that there's a lot of things that have to Have to break right? I just can't see how you could have 100%. Not people of players like you not. And the answer is Steve. The short answer is thanks. You're not gonna have 100%. We already saw today, Freddie Freeman. Four fillies. You know, we found it officially yesterday, including Scott Cannery in Hector nearest, like like that there's It's not going to be. It's going to be something that and I don't mean to be callous about this, but it's going to be something that we're dealing with, like we're dealing with any kind of injury. Like, Oh, the guy's got. It's got a hamstring. And he's out 7 to 10 days. Okay? He's got a test negative twice. I think you know when he's coming back after being quarantined, But you're just gonna have that's what it's going to be. And again. I'm not saying that like it isn't a big deal. You know, I I get it. But you just hope that They don't have a lot of symptoms. You know, and it's someone who's not. It sounds to me like Freeman isn't isn't feeling well with the way Brian Snitker explained it. Other guys have tested positive and have had no symptoms whatsoever. You would figure you can fast track them back. With proper testing. Who knows? A meal in Delaware. A meal you're on 94 to be. I pay you to talk show on the week. Thank you. Oh, I'm what you'd actually the last call from. I think that you nasty from Tampa yet. Yeah, I agree. I mean the contact tracing. I mean, just look at scenarios. Some of these hitting and standing next to the catcher in the umpire, and that's positive. Now they're the other team is going to affect them. The umpire be there yet. Yeah. I don't see how they're going to do it. I mean, I'm sure they're going to give it to try, But I just I can't see out of that, though. "It's a high in the air right center field Hamilton looks back. to be a part of Major League Baseball history to be. to be number one out of every single guy that played the game it's it's a it's a humbling in its. such just a ridiculously awesome feeling I it's. I mean that moment was so just imagine. this is after hours with Amy Lawrence. congradulations to be Alonso what all rookie season it leaves zero questioning how in the world can he topped the act what will the encore be in his sophomore season really amazing and even though the Mets did not make the playoffs the fact that most of the home run to the damage that he did it but it was done in the midst of a playoff chase is really impressive so I he won the home run derby there was a bit of a law after that but now he stands alone atop the mountain so a brand new rookie home run record for all of Major League Baseball Wayne ran dazzle on the Mets radio network with that call and then of course fifty three being the most in baseball this season in fact he's the only guy who's over fifty home runs as it turned out I we did have all a whole lot of guys who hit forty home runs actually how bout this nerd alert for the first time in history more than fifty individual hitters had at least thirty home run so fifty eight of them to be exact that's never happened in baseball before it's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS sports radio the decision to is fifty three home runs he also a hundred and twenty RBI which is just you off the pace set by a couple of guys in the NL east into the red zone winning the RB I title this year with a hundred twenty six turn himself into an MVP candidate for the nationals in the second half as they will host the NL wild card coming up on Tuesday night and then Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves as they repeat as NL east champion so right right there at the top of the National League RBI standings that you've got three guys from that east division now here's the final tally for home runs we already knew was going to be a record in the season six thousand seven hundred seventy six home runs belted in Major League Baseball this year. far and away the most ever it blows two thousand seventeen out of the water think seventeen was when they first went over six thousand home runs for a season. also a new strikeout record was set back for the twelfth year in a row. so here we go this is baseball home run the strikeouts home runs and strikeouts. long fly balls deep fly balls or Kay's seems to be not a whole lot in between. but congradulations to be Alonso as Saddam as he's talked about it's a dream come true and it's more than he could have ever expected or asked for his
