I'm sure he would have loved have gotten a a starter into that boo shero right traders like that trainers trainers enjoy that You know there's a namesake with dave say course of theirs. They don't think they don't try to get a horse ready. Here's the stuff from colonial yesterday. Let me Let me run through this. That victory gallop then nice day racing yesterday the victory gallop good old co-ord- maker mrs charles and This was a fuso and voss kurland that has really put together a really nice career. This is when ten in thirty one starts for rodney jenkins and he really almost never misfires. Just he brings it over and over again. Thirty one starts and now twenty one board hits and even and even when he doesn't it the board that yeah he's the pimlico special for instance in may is four thirty three to one and And i see checks in the maryland million classic and in deep allowance fields as well. You know what's amazing about gordon maker. Despite the spite his record he doesn't go favored very often. I that's kind of funny. I mean he was even even here he was even money and this field lost three horses and try and scratched a four and macklemore avenue. Michael moore avenue Was a was a very close second choice but Victor carrasco probably the best source that vickers associated with no show. No sign leading up no fig yet but typically runs low ninety buyers In this kind of a race victory gallop the mile and sixteenth. You had sarah cosa for. Cipriani contrasts owner chad. Schumer this a bernardini mayor who herself is is six. This was a price thirty eight forty winning the love sign mile sixteenth and colonial. That's a that's a one turn. That's a one turn event And sarah cosa from the from the rail and came away came away slowly and finished with a flourish. And how about the area showing up at colonial nice. Nice one of the one of the emergent Post pandemic stories right. It was last year with the area. guitar one. The seeking the pearl. And there's only the second time he's tried dirt that three-quarter and now a winner go on that trip so He he hold on. It looked it. Looked like he was in great shape. He he had put away It looked like he was putting away muccio and muccio really dug in. And it's funny. This was a this was a really tight finish. And i don't know if it's the camera angle or.

"We're going to be joined by tom. Harris the voice of emerald downs in his twenty eighteen nineteen twenty. Four th year at my My hometown track. Tommy longtime north west guy. Of course a lot of folks no him from texas where he was. Sam houston for years. Re thomas park for years. But we'll talk about the emerald meet getting underway and his career in racing. Talk a little bit about cubs baseball with thomas. The p. a. announcer for the spring training for the cubs like all throughout the eighties. Like with harry carey next to him and everything so excited. Talk tom on the show Jockey declan carol gonna join us later on this week. We had declan on fact. I know exactly when we had him on november of two thousand eighteen. The reason i remember because he was the. I gotten to miami for the first time to go to gulfstream park west and he was the first guest interview. I remember interviewing him and brandon stable from this kind of shady hotel in hollywood because my gulfstream reservation didn't start till the tuesday night and i just some reason. I have a vivid memory of interviewing brandon stable and declan carol in there but When we interview he was of just getting started. He's obviously well on his way now and had a really big few days at arlington park this weekend. And so we'll talk with him about Riding in arlington and how his career is going to write some big races the wintertime down at the fairgrounds. So we'll talk with declan. Carol about all of that horse player thursday. A friend of mine is coming on the dark horse chris. Sorenson longtime horse racing nation blogger writer. Reporter did some handicap and work at colonial. I think for a day think he just did a day. Maybe it was the season though but love the dark horse. We'll talk with him. He is Trying to think of how to put this he someone who similar to me found benefit in a lot of the stuff we talk about with inside the pylons and then all a lot of the stuff we subsequently talked about here on the show. And so i'm kind of curious to talk with him. Just in how his frame of reference on betting has changed he. Someone who only plays turf races primarily almost never plays horizontal bets plays mostly win and exact abets and focuses mostly on the turf. So we'll talk about that I feel like most players. Don't do that. We all kind of play what we're given and whatever tracks we want but he someone who's Surfaced guy so. I think he does play some dirt racing but we'll we'll talk to him on thursday for our horse player thursday segments. That's what we got coming up this week again Off next monday from oriel day but will be back in the swing of things for the rest of the week so we can recapping and of course Big day out of churchill with downs after dark program. We talked with james and scott on friday. Show about the The racist there looks like a big crowd. It is nice seeing crowds again and you know i was watching the hockey playoffs over the weekend in nashville. It was packed to the gills. I know the canadian Places still aren't allowing anybody in. And i think there's is there any states anymore where there aren't people attending sports and even the mariners and washington for a while was one of the more restricted states. That you can even get half full to mariners games but Nice to see crowds. And like i said Racing under the lights. Churchill is always exciting in the feature event the winning colors stakes for the phillies and mirrors Sprinters and it was a bit of a showdown franks rock head and -sconsin both In this race in. I'm really billed as a two-horse race right three to five on frank's rocket and even money on -sconsin who was coming off that second place finisher gombeen we We hadn't seen franks rockets a second place. Finish it oakland back in april. Let's take a listen. To travis jones call of the winning color stakes from churchill downs and off had stumbled badly coming out of the starting gate than his off last goodie beginning for rising seas and with that franks red cat comes onto graham second and tipsy gal joins them three across detract from third three and a half lengths back to -sconsin fourth and slow. Starting headland is at the back in fifth. There's fine for lungs to go. Rising seas shows the way down the backstretch run. Franks rocket not pressuring sitting back while second. There's four furlongs left tipsy gals in the clear racing. Third scancen moves over to the side for the run around the fire. Turn twenty one in three. Was the opening quarter mile. There's three furlongs to go and here comes. Franks rocket to crank up the pressure on rising seas. Tipsy cows trying to stick with them the three of them take out of the quarter pole. -sconsin is not far behind and she switched outside fourth headland fifth top of the stretch rising seas still in front. Franks rakhat trying to get by. -sconsin burst on the scene. Here comes -sconsin now fourth. And now i and now second and -sconsin rocketing by the pacemakers -sconsin in front rising seas back in the second franks record is third headland and tipsy gow -sconsin score so franks rocket with a nice victory in the winning keller stakes. I actually hit play on my recorder here and did like a whole six or seven minute talk about the race and apparently i hit play twice because i hit start stop did not record any of it so i'm gonna talk about it again in my head but for the first time for you guys. It's rare that happens. I think for the most part. I usually get it out and one take. There's i mean there's actually quite a few times where have to edit through but builds a two horse race and certainly was not to race. I mean yeah rising seas get up for a second but this one horse race -sconsin just completely running with it settled nicely. Franks rock broke just a touch slower and kinda rushed up and was up part of the early pace but i mean. I don't know that you can make excuses. I mean she. Was you know that she was up there on a hot pace but this was this was a one horse battle of -sconsin just completely blew their doors off. -sconsin right now is going so well and you know at least the last couple starts at just seems to love churchill. I mean look they take her to keeneland you know is it the surface or was the fact that she was running against great one competition both times and and kind of couldn't keep up with them. i'm not sure she's been okay. At ellison keeneland at kind of similar levels had optional claiming races run. okay before. but there's just something. I don't know if it's timing. I don't know what it is but she seems to love churchill downs and obviously as ed said last week a lot of the locals very happy when the local guys win and greg foley be a trainer certainly a local churchill guy as far as franks rockets concern. I mean it's hard to say she's bad form. She won nicely in her seasonal debut in the american beauty and kinda thought she was just going to be set for a big season here now again. She hasn't run poorly. She was beaten three quarters of a length but she hasn't run. I think like what people were expecting you know. She rattled off three straight wins last year. Great twos and threes that were and didn't by open links at saratoga belmont and there's an expectation that she is going to be you know was going to be a major player on this division and maybe it was just the who she was running against their the new york sprint division royal charlotte and horse like that. Maybe it center. I'll maybe they're just not representative of what that level normally means new york. You know 'cause like i said. She did beat by by rising seas. The ben colbert trainee and abandoned. Kind of been a little heater now and you know off to a bit of a slow start a churchill downs but obviously got a nice run out of this horse who was making a bit of a jump up in class but As far scott's concern i gotta think they wanna stay at churchill and Would think that that's just kind of the plan going forward for her. She's been so good there and obviously they probably still have I would think there's gotta be a stake in and around stephen foster weekend as we get closer to the end of the meat here at legendary churchill downs the other feature was the cure tana steaks and it was temple city tear. You know this is a mile and a half turf race. And i always feel like these. I like in general when riders kinda open up and try to steal races This was one where it didn't necessarily work out. What's interesting is every horse in this race was coming out of like one of a couple of races all from the same weekend at keeneland like everybody in this race at round the twenty second or the twenty third of keen last time out so familiar foes data and miguel made a tried to steal it. The open fifteen or sixteen lengths. They go forty eight to the half a mile a half raisin it almost worked and like i said i don't hate when guys try to steal races on the far turn in the early stages but i guess my own half race. It seems like it works less often than maybe a mile and a sixteenth petard steal away in a mile and a sixteenth usually..

"And outside by empire who believe is final prolonged empire cares wet four running after him outside. Whitmore has taken. Cc rocket on the outside secondly but the all man's got quite freighters cut spreads. He wanted bible five. The end forensic fire was in photo at ceesay rocket. Four second in wanna eight point six one one thing i thought about after this race was like what were the connections of coma. They thinking like oh we would have one that we gotta beat wet more. Be with more. Well what more you know. Obviously we know he. He's run pretty. Well keeneland his career with the wind in two seconds from four starts but he had kinda gone I don't wanna say but just he hadn't really had had the goods in his last couple and obviously that one to back you can be forgiven on. It was such a a sloppy mess but Just he got such a brilliant perfect trip from iran ortiz in this one Slowly worked his way. Over the rail down the backstretch there was the five horse Who was the five forces should give a little shout up manny wa. He was kinda inside of Of whitmore down the backstretch and that started to move up and and whitmore just went right down sucked up that spot when it became open And then as they started wind into the turn. I think it was actually the six horse. Franks rakhat who was you. Know the next one of the rail that one You know geared off to get room and i registered down there. Stay down there. And when he swung out as he went to swing out maybe again. I think it was franks. Rock kept but Somebody who was right to his outside kind of drifted out a little bit. And and i mean it would just he charged trip at every point and you know in in horse racing. That's sometimes what it takes. The best horse don't always win. We know that And and know whitmore was had an amazing trip but he also won by three and a quarter lakes in a sprint which is from off the pace which is definitely something i mean it was it was just a sensational racy rocket. Kind of finally got going late but You know it was just it was. It was a great moment for for the connections. Obviously this horses now What's he what did you get a million bucks for that. So he's made over four point two million dollars in his career from thirty eight starts. He's one fifteen of them. Eleven seconds. i mean that's just an incredible record that he's assembled the seven year old gelding Haven't heard The plans for him if that's his last start or not But i mean it was. It was just an incredible moment. And as i said you know the video of ron son going nuts in his tweet about his dad beat his hero. You know we know. Ron battles and immune condition and so you know being out about the pandemic is not the easiest thing for him. It was just a it was just a really cool moment. And i thought such a great part In fact the demi. That'll be what i remember from this. Breeders cup is the the whitmore The whitmore performance diamond loops six. That i still can't believe he got bet that much i said that friday yaupon or yep hone or however. We're seeing his name Didn't get out all that sharp and joel had to kind of push him and he just didn't have that early foot I gotta think that a lot of people are going to be monday morning. Quarterbacking you know. Especially after what nashville didn't at perryville. Why nashville didn't go into this race in your phone did but he was six to five. And you knew midway down the backstretch. He wasn't going to be part of at the end and You know he kinda did get into the race a little bit on the turn but even then just completely swallowed up by By some of the others friendly fire rallied from off. The pace to get third certainly ran his race an empire of gold. I tweeted to declan. Carol like you know. He's a young kid. We've had him on the show. I think a year ago or so or two years ago now. It's been but you know he. He rode this horse to to such a nice finisher. Last time out of keeneland and i thought really really good for him just as a young guy. It's a fifty to one shot to have the lead in midstretch and breeder's cup sprint. I mean obviously have been completely throwing for him. He's got a lot of years to try to move up a couple of spots from the finish but I thought that was a nice little story. Coming out of the breeder's cup sprint as well. So we will continue to look ahead to the breeders cup on tomorrow's show. It's just meet tomorrow and looking forward to To have in our Our buddy stevens. Back on the program. Wednesday toxic delta downs. We'll start you know. Like i said we're gonna talk a lot of breeders cup all throughout the week because with the sale and with breeders kept coming up. There's obviously just going to be a ton of Of news over the next couple of days and You know when we get the jury guys in. We'll we'll talk with them about the their breeders cup thoughts and obviously going forward the churchill meet back in gear for the next couple of weeks. December's always the i feel like. It's the quietest horse racing month you know. Between the holidays and tracks starting up soon. Fairgrounds is getting underway. Pretty soon which is always a lot of fun. I think they're opening on thanksgiving proper. I think this year. I know they got away from that for a little bit. But i believe this year is Is back to that You know woodbine kind of wrapping up their meet here in the first couple weeks of Of december they still got a few good races down. There are up there rather but a lot of akwa. Dr chill del mar. Of course there fall meet still going onto through the end of the month but things definitely slow down. I guess with with gulfstream. Starting early i guess. I i guess that becomes the the focal point in december along with With fairgrounds but I kind of liked the wintertime. Because it gives us a chance to you know not follow the candidate at a news we can kind of do some interviews. That are a little bit off the beaten path which to be. You're always very interesting. And you know. We'll certainly continue on with horse player thursdays and talk about the bedding side of things but It's to me. It's a good time of year and honestly being done with announcing after tomorrow For me is a lot of help towards the show and just you know having a about having more time. Because i don't need to necessarily dedicate more time. It's just. I can spread my time out as i see fit as opposed to you know mondays and tuesdays and son even sundays. I kinda got crunch it into the earlier parts of the day because my my duties up in the booth so check us out though at grants pass tonight and tomorrow it's gonna be a lot of fun For our closing weekend and we'll be back here tomorrow to keep talking. Breeders cup would love to hear your guys. Thoughts emailed me jason charles. Bima gmail.com got a ton of emails over the weekend from listeners. The show talking breeders cup really appreciate the dialogue We'll see you guys back tomorrow. Have a great rest of your monday..

"And lot going on both here and elsewhere cross cross state of course at churchill and everything building up for friday. Kick off to the breeders cup yesterday. Of course the draw and a for the most part rather straightforward and no no stunning elements Will talk to. Nick tammaro to start Our two and nickel do our. We'll do our annual survey early. Feel and talk about what the draw might have done to certain. You know certain horses and there was. Of course i suppose the classic is going to be the the one that you'd want to touch on. I the three baffert horses drawing side by side by side. The three outside posts eight nine ten which triggered which triggered baffert the saying eight nine ten eight nine ten kept. He kept the sort of. I guess Convincing himself that. It'll be fine and actually usually i. I wrote this on. Twitter baffert typically does not like when he's got to horses or more in this case in a race he typically doesn't like them lining up next to each other is said that a number of times however he he was he did not seem bothered by the way this transpired is said given the stretching and all the room there is in fact anything it probably helps the whole field. The anybody that wants to set up shop wherever they're going to go They'll they'll have plenty of room to operate so You know that authentic is going to go. And i have every expectation that baffert's instructions the johnny as opposed to what transpired in baltimore last month. Authentic wants and needs and seems like he has to have the league and so you would think that authentic lights out and maximum security sets up a loose iras drafts off of him and then down inside. If you haven't seen the draw or had a chance to look at the pcp's the pp's got up very quickly last night in fact at Your purveyor your pc purveyor and from the inside tacitus twenty two one with jose ortiz. Tis the law. Three two one with manny franko by my standards. Gabe sanchez ten. To one. in the three towns detente six to one with joel ario title ready mid pack the five thirty two one with coronary higher. Power flavian pratt. Twenty two one from the six global campaign. Have your castellano for stanley from the seven. And then the three twenty two one for global and then the three baffert's including five to two favourite improbable from the whole with iran and authentic johnny. Six to one in the nine and makes them loose is and there's your your field of of ten for a really really good classic. It is really engaging fan will start to will start to whittle down the time Time is is now from here till friday to kind of comprehend and and sort out and start to conceive an approach for both days and of course the other nice thing that happened was the other. The whole card is drawn. Everything's set so you're looking forward to playing everything You'll you can dive in. You may have already the the other news when you look through some of the draws i mean obviously a race like the the turf It not much of a of an issue going the mile and a half but in the sprint coma. Who was coming in off. This extended break which was not necessarily planned and then he turns around and draws the fourteen and he was the horse that seemingly took the worst of it on the on the draw front. And we'll have to under your castellano. It's going to have to hustle and that the very least gained position did not haven't seen a actually have not seen a george weaver. Haven't seen a george weaver or a randy hill and company reaction to the draw but the coma as you know the favorite and one of the one of the shorter numbers you would think on the day i mean on number strength and coming in off the you know the perfect three for three campaign thus far hard to hard to argue but any speed inside of him is a is going to confront the favourite including shopping who his three doors down in the in the tent. Four doors down really Diamond oops in between as well. I don't know what to expect necessarily From jasper prince the the violence five role. That's coming in from japan. Jose ortiz aboard. And so you know jose's inclination is generally to go forward hakkari castle out. There will will drop out of it as he is want to do. We're going to talk. I promised a visit from terry off and he'll join us declan. Carol dave in kim. Carol's son who is going to get a chance in the breeders cup and then the not far removed from his from his blog and Road empire of gold beautifully Corral daymond at fifty to one in the late stages and This is visibly. This'll be the second time. That terry f is coming to keeneland. I talked to him and he said well. I joined the first trip to keelan so a second a second time. Start for terry and the golden sense. Three year old Of course you know. Three year olds very prominent in here with the with and Then you look at Eco town down inside. Who's gonna put. Blinkers on out of that phoenix Interesting and try to get Little bit more. It's that the last couple of starts you know the pet day mile stretching out as he did in the past day not that he ran badly Become rian evenly on the stretch out and so then coming back on the turn back and ran are right in the phoenix again but Asmussen wants to get him clearly More forward again Ceesay rocket who's been super consistent comes in with that string of wins but it probably has proven notch. Franks rakhat ten to one. There's gonna be a lot of people's tickets it would seem This is a fun fun edition. Forensic fire is coming back. Eight to one. If you get close to eight to one on forensic fire. He figures to get behind the the speed trip in here. Six for eleven. that Three quarters i. A lot of the spread haven't looked forward to a sprint as much as as In memory actually in recent memory Mottola was terrific and all and that was exciting but You know that was one of the one of the slam. Dunks of the The other stay for the sprint. For a minute and touch on the the draw that baffert was not thrilled with and that was the two hole for gaming and that he was the specifically said. He said i so disappointed with that. She didn't want her down inside Also notable in talking to baffert last night after the draw he he. He is in sitting in a position of great respect and admiration for seren. Getty empress give mean might be the seventy seven to five favorite but every everything that was talking about circle the straight back to sarah getty and and how imposing she is was made the second choice and you know my my gut reaction was doing some instant read..

"Of course We should mention with her running My sister nat Kind of a fun unique scenario and there's others in here. What about shook was civil union. Yeah i mean how good is she right now and isn't that something. We see the benchmark of of should as training that he choices. Just get better with racing. Better with age i mean he really develops horse. It's such a long getty process with him. He you know horse he obviously can win with any kind of horse first thing started but when they do it it's not because they're all in it's because you know the the are using it to the next step and the next step and you know you'll see horses four five six years old and getting to their best form i you know. Obviously he's always been hall of famer but that's the one thing that i keep going back to watching. You know his success as a trainer. I don't think you see it. Consistently with any other trainer in north america that him one other race rich. I i keep you know thumbing through my list here and one of the race. I have to ask you about before we We wrap The sprint coma there. I know that in terms of layoff historically in the breeders cup sprint was really the only race that you would dare take a horse off of off of serious time away and i. i don't know i i'm hard pressed. There's so many questions right now. And i guess we'll we'll see him when he gets here but i just don't. I don't know how eager. I'm going to be the to build around the coma at a short number for those that were wondering. Bill maher categorically Confirms that franks rakhat will go Quarters not seven eighths so she is going to sprint. You've got the pair for mass missin. i'll tell you who the overlooked horse is going to be in this thing and he shouldn't be forensic fire. Yeah i i could see that. Well because everybody definitely labeled him was belmont park belmont. You know friends fire. And then they kind of tend to be counted everywhere else who else. Gm who else do you consider it. Here what do you make of of of. Horses like nashville. That you know are are late to the scene and You know looks looks scary. i mean how. How about a barn that loses You know loses violence Volatile loses volatile at the last minute more or less and then replaces that one.

"More than that moon over Miami interesting. He's taking a big step forward lately. But. Yeah. Probably just backups. Fair enough. Then we go back for this. Very curious futurity I and I've said repeatedly this morning with scully and then with Marcus, I got a look more into these courses. There's more says I have no idea who they are where they came from. If they're any good I have no idea. This group says. Well. I, mean I'm I'm not a I don't WanNA spend a whole lot of time bashing morning lines because it's kind of a it's a little silly but the morning line industry stinks I mean if if if calibrated seven to two here, he's going to be one of the best bets. The decade saw eight essential quality was an impressive winner on debut but you know it's one of those he had. A trip and I remember bringing them up talking to you on Monday of that following week and you told me only sixty nine fire and I went back and watch the replay and I thought you know it's really wasn't that th the trouble was not that significant. It was trouble no doubt about it but all in all, it was a pretty slow race I want to be very careful with these kinds of. Horses stretching out calibrate was terrific at Saratoga. I mean he he took he he looked like he was done turning for home and all of a sudden sprinted away. He looks like a horse that wants to go mile and a sixteenth if not two miles an sixteenth and I think he's clearly the horse to beat in here I don't I don't have any reservation about the stretch out I think that founder. Is going to get a lot of money. You got to be very, very careful with these kinds of horses that makes huge moves in fast paced races and from way way out of it sprinting and then start going long and as much as I'm Joel Rosario. Fan this is the kind of horse that he allows to sleepwalk through the first half mile and they find themselves ten or twelve leagues out and their. Shot. So it. Endre Alonzo last year in the he's he did that to it turns out a laundry, not much horse but you know we all kind of thought how the hell did this wire her debut, and now you've got her you've got an in different on a different planet in the first half mile or self. So I I think I would use those three I would I would use calibrate as alone a personally and Just, try and get through that leg with with your best opinion because I think you're going to have to use a few horses in the shadow of Turf Mile. I'll tell you right now I won't be using holiday I'll be I'll be absolutely stunned of holiday wins this race I thought I. Think it'd is one of the most opportunistic courses I've seen in quite some time and I say that because somehow after finding ridiculously slow paced races at Gulfstream on rock-solid turf courses he. was able to wire the four day when somehow that day there was a freak thunderstorm and being of the two paths on the inner turf was just a death sentence. So I thought holiday benefited from what happened got stormy came back and ran well against lesser people are probably GonNa upgrade performance based on that. There are way too many good horses in this race to take him as as the favourite and that starts with analyze it who I thought was very impressive in. His Comeback Race I know it was against a drastically weaker group of forces but he had to start somewhere I mean analyze its third place finish in the Breeders Cup. Mile is the best running line in this race by far and so if he's able if he's effective from stock stalking the pace, then he's GonNa win and and and I think in all likelihood he'll move forward second off the layoff. I also think the Flavius is dangerous. He finally got a good trip last time. And was able to to parlay that into victory. I. Think that I I mean I've I'm not never been on the without parole or Raging Bull bandwagon at least of late But I, think what you'll see in here is an honestly run race in the first half mile with spectacular gem an analyze it likely to to push holiday on the front end, and that'll open things up for somebody from a little bit off the pace and I'm going to mainly focus on analyzing Flavius? Nice and there's your cross country. Pick five, the first the first lady the Belmont. Derby. The vulgarity and the shad well, and the way knicks approaching it. Feels approachable. Actually neck a couple of places to tip toe and then spread where you have to. So all right I. Like it Let's touch on a couple of other, Belmont? Events. As well and pilgrim and. The KELSO is already down to four because Modiano isn't running code of honours, even money So that's a fairly. Straightforward scenario and you've got the short price on frank's rakhat who looks like a slam dunk in the gallant bloom leaves us with the. Pilgrim. Yeah the I can touch on those all very briefly the Kelso obviously having scratches is you know it doesn't make a huge difference in terms of the outcome, but obviously, the size of the field complexity looks like he has a major advantage there unless Stan the man is written very very aggressively, which I don't see happening given the pilots signed up and I. Think complexities wire. That field I do think code of honor is back at the right trip. Think the the one turn mile his best trip. I know the two wins at a mile and a quarter last year sort of make people scratching their heads when they hear me say that but I don't care for the way he ran in the Whitney and Beginning to worry about whether he wants to turn. So I think he'll give a good account of himself mainly boils down to two complexity and code of honor. As you said, Franks rocket looks like a stone cold in the gallant bloom. Amazing. They brought together a field of older horses and she just absolutely sticks out and I do think it's probably worthwhile for me. To to kind of get Franks rockets some credit, she's been a consistently good fast horse this year I just have personal stigma against her because three times needed for for big multi-race place and she lost three times and only lost four times in her whole career. So the next time I'm going to I'm going to let everybody know when they can stay away. With with that said, I thought the I wanted to kind of a benchmark Brim with a maiden special weight race yesterday at Pimlico where Jimmy P was entered and taken off the turf. Jimmy was third on debut behind public sector I. I don't think it would have mattered in the end I. Think Public Sector is likely a very, very good horse and we've clearly seen Chad Brown for Clark. Vich. By horses overseas and do very well with them I thought he was very, very impressive winner on debut. The odd thing about that race was that of to Chad entrance he seemed to. Be Training the more poorly of the two but you know the the European horses don't always train strongly. So I think that was probably what worked against him. He feels like the kind of horse that if he wins this race, he's going to be a it's going be among the choices for the Breeders Cup juvenile turf and and I think he has that kind of trajectory American. Monarch was a good winner on debut. He was probably second or third best. That day pivotal mission should have one but found his way into a bunch of traffic so. We'll see if he takes a step forward off the summer where you really didn't didn't do terribly much running I thought he was kind of all and shoddy shoddy shoddy got that down in the juvenile at Kentucky downs and he really got a big setup in a great ride in his debut. So I thought he was a horse that that could take a bit of a step backwards I guess..

This point, a litany of success and you talk about the training side of it and. It's just so obvious to go look at those drills that. Put in Him after the hassle and. I see people saying, well, you know the way he finished in the Haskell. Okay. That's that's the Haskell that's July. Now it's six plus weeks later and what happened in the interim he he only worked I don't know he literally may have worked five miles between the two racist literally literally five miles. It really shows you how You know I had seen that work pattern before the Derby you know there's so much to. Look at but after it somebody pointed this out on twitter and I was absolutely dumbfounded because. BAFFERT's known for. The drilling horses and really. Need horses that can take it and that's what Is. Pretty Amazing about this cope is that It wasn't a every seven day drill either it was like five six days sometimes five you know six for a long back again six furlongs five as Raider, mile Again you know it was it was it was the kind of. Old School drill. and to me, what is the most amazing about it is? That most horses? Couldn't take that either physically or mentally. And you know that that factor adds a lot into its causes also, you know he's He's not a robust cold peace. He Tall Gopi Leggy Colt. Narrow body not you know not. Doesn't carry that condition. Help those are now forgot sex. I literally just pulled it up and. And I What do you call it? I, screen captured it here it is Right. After right after the the Haskell. came out on. August I worked an easy half, mile? Then came back seven days later on August eighth worked a fairly easy five eighths, and of course, all of these ball baffert workouts feature extended Gallup outs past the timing. Right then he got serious. Let's say. Five days after the five furlong one, zero, three, he he knuckles them down to a six furlong work one, twelve in three. Comes back six days later with another six along work this time one, thirteen, and two. And then like Allen Jerkins six days later, he works in a mile. Published Mile, which means he worked more like. A mile in eighth. And then comes back another five days later. With a one twelve and to the one that was you know the one that had you know people kind of Gog the one on August thirtieth. So he worked six times in twenty nine days after winning Haskell. A week earlier. I, I don't know why what what people need I in terms of comprehension. About. How he won on Saturday because he also had I've made it. I've repeated every day roof over and over again those diminishing quarters, he d- he and Tis the law went faster early and slow late, and the reason is the law didn't pass him. It was because his the law have to run more testing fractions than he ever had before and I got beat by what was obviously a fitter horse and that and I. Don't know why it's so hard for people to comprehend what happened in here and there was really no one other horse that was capable potentially of winning and that was honor AP, and he blew it in the first quarter. So I the people that are that are you know looking to disparage authentic and the performance and you know the the trainer involved I I is it's just I gotTa tell you said it is it is exasperating. Well. I call sports You'RE.

Other than something I kind of already knew that Nader that this was a pretty good horse very nice, long striding individual and It's GonNa be interesting I. Imagine he's the type that backer will not you know they're? Travers is not going to be the strongest race in the world outside of your top two or three, so you could see. Potentially be taken by sending him to Saratoga, but this really just seems like the kind of horse you. You've tried to take on a horse like honore P. He's confirmed you know. You know an elite racehorse. I visible is an. You tried to pick up some more there and give them a solid derby prep, and I agree I. think that no matter unless he throws an absolute clunker. Next time you will be in Derby starting. Now. WE'RE GOING TO PICK IT UP WITH Tongue momentum the racist from last week at Belmont Park. The first one of the four stakes that was there was agreed three victory ride, which was won by Franks, Rakhat. She went on the lead did have A. Tough battle in the stretchy, won the race by a head, but really nice effort for her going six and a half furlongs. At Belmont Park, you know the spring division for the females in general and three year old fillies definitely We don't really know where that is. In terms of talent you know there are a couple of horses gelinas definitely in terms of the three year olds, the top level in that in that division, but there are a bunch of horses that are probably underneath and Franks. Rocket is one of those that you could think would be a horse. It would run a really nice race in the test. I don't know if she's GonNa mean level and from what has been said. It seems like that means next race is going to be the test, but regardless of whether or not, that is the next step for good mean. Franks recap is a really good horse that you know second level behind a horse like mean that that's really where I see her, who knows if demean does decide to stretch it out a go for the mylan eighth races on. The trail of the Kentucky Oaks and then further on into the Kentucky Oaks. Franks rocket could be a major player in this group. For sure I don't mind is used praying that Bob Apper. Doesn't doesn't favor in and he goes elsewhere because. With with comedian and doesn't go in the test because you bring. A lot of I mean she's very fast professional. "The victory ride kicks off the stakes action here at Belmont Park tomorrow afternoon grade three early in the caught has just the feel of five phillies. GOING TO GO Six and a half furlongs as for the three year old's warning line favors one francs. Rock Cat Hall of Famer Bill Will Give Fellow Hall of Famer John Velazquez a leg up and this phillies done very little wrong on her career. She's three for seven. With four second-place finishes ran second in a couple of graded stakes, including the grade one spin away up at Saratoga last year last seen winning a third level allowance optional claimer. She uses stakes. Winner took the any limit kick off three year old season three starts back. and. Probably the only reason that this race isn't later in the card is that it's a five Horsfield and Franks? Rakhat is three to five on the morning line, and she may be the the loan speed in race, so she's going to be tough to beat at three to five, but that's a pretty short price, considering there some pretty good up and coming phillies near now I think number four center. I'll I'm going to give her another shot for. For Chad Brown and Joel Rosario Sheila Great Getting Her Maiden Win Gulfstream Park, when bet down to three to five at the end of March then came back in a tough allowance race at Churchill downs where she was really over bet, she was three to five that day against another very impressive maiden winner of this one for Steve Asmussen in casual casual ran a great race that day center I'll had all sorts of problems. She didn't break that well. She had trouble during the race, and she was just really never in at any point. I think it's a racy can kind of draw a line through? If she runs closer to the way she did and her debut. I think she's the one that could give Franks rock cat. The biggest problem Franks rocket will probably get the lead I would think Rosario would have center I'll sitting justin behind her and seeing if they can outgun into the line going six and a half furlongs. With you I'm going to take a shot with center. Rile planner. If? When I plan! Early took five tomorrow I will use both Franks rocket and center, but I'll tell you what I think. You can make a case also for up in smoke was undefeated and sprints. She's four five and a career. Lone blemish came when George Weaver tries to stretch her out Hollywood wildcat. Go at Gulfstream Park. She's raced exclusively of Gulfstream, in fact, steady diet once. Once a month February march April may June now. She gets a race in July. Here over Big Sandy, she wanted the game face overboard last time out for weaver Rod Ortiz Junior. Who wrote her in her debut against fellow Florida breads down at Gulfstream Park's in the climb back aboard for the first time. Since that day looks, you'll need a little help up front if Franks, rockets able to set an easy pace I. She's going to be very very tough. I think Senator I'll be the first one to come calling. Those are the two up in smoke. If you're looking to three deep, I don't think you need to center for Bobby and I race number three goes as the great three six and a half for a long victory ride go to the end of the card. Eleven race card like I said earlier, and the final four races make up an all stakes pick four, and it starts in reasoning with the greed three poker. Flat Mile on the turf for many years. This was the fourth of July staple. On the naira calendar here it is now as part of a super five stakes card. In, the poker though. On the widener, so they come out of that shoot. On the clubhouse turn we get a field of eight entered for the turf as a main track. Only it's all relevant with the way. The weather's been here. I would imagine you know there's supposed to be some rain. We're recording the show Friday afternoon supposed to be some rains rather day on Friday and into the evening. I can't imagine it enough to take this off the turf, so let's say it will be a field of eight.

"Horse Racing podcast brought to you by twin spires back here all the Jason Horse Racing. Podcast brought to you by twin. Spires my thanks to the boys from the jury for joining US always love getting to catch up with them on a Friday and always love getting to talk to you guys go talk a little Oakland and Gulfstream. As I think what I'm GonNa do so earlier. I was talking about how I was going to do. A more of a full card preview and I got a few emails from people who said they liked that idea. And so I said let's We'll throw in an extra show this week and I was going to do Golden Gate. 'cause I figure a lot of people are focusing on Gulfstream and oaklawn Gulfstream's probably the one I watched the most of of the ones that are left And maybe the one I watched the most general. I watch a lot of Gulfstream. And you know I've worked there a little bit. So maybe that's part of the reason why but I think what I'm GonNa do is I'm going to. I'm going to do the work for the Gulfstream Saturday card and I'm going to have notes and watch replays and do all of that on Thursday night. That's how I'm gonNA spend what's my Friday night but wait to tape the show until first thing Friday morning because I think Thursday night. I'm guessing we'll have more information about what's going to happen in Florida. They know their stay at home. Order starts then and certainly don't want to do a show and have it cancelled nor do I am not am. I sure you guys don't want to do your homework. And and have the racing get cancelled from underneath you. So that's my plan. See how it how it unfolds but a couple quick thoughts on on on the two big cards coming up this weekend. Being OAKLAWN and Gulfstream. We talked with With James scully a bit ago about the Purple Martin Stakes Hundred Thousand Three Zero phillies sprint and six and as expected with a good three zero six furlong race. There's there's plenty of gas in here but there's a lot of horses that have been pretty darn impressive and that liked to win in this race. It's it's truly fascinating event We'll start from the rail Kamari for Wesley Ward. And like I said you're gonNA start seeing some of these trainers from other circuits popping up at oaklawn while they're still running because a running for a pile of money and be there running so Kamari it was a very good turf sprinter who we saw win at Saratoga. When a steak at keeneland had to roll from way back in the juvenile turf sprint as one of the favorites and still ran huge. Fourth made a ton of ground on four wheel drive and in the other so interesting to see that one show up on the the main track for the second time. The horse debuted. If you remember Kamari at Keeneland won by fifteen that Wesley Ward four and a half furlongs keeneland big winner. It's not exactly a Stop the press kind of a news announcement but worth noting that this one was pretty darn impressive on the grass but that said is drawn. The rare on the dirt rather as drawn. The Rail. Mike Smith is going is named a ride and right to it's outside Speedy sort and ringleader stretched out in the Honeybee was on the lead couldn't keep up and ended up finishing fifth but prior to that at one three straight races all sprints including the Dixie Belle. Which is one of the early season. Three zero philly sprints at oaklawn flat out speed is twenty two one morning line. Three for three all sprinting. All at Prairie Meadows but all is a two year old. This is a three year old debut for this one so Again similar that one I mentioned earlier Turf Paradise. Tomah they when we were talking with. James was kind of the Queen of the small circuit. Now's GonNa try the the bigger girls edge ways. I think it'd be one of your top two choices I think the four eight edge way and Franks. Rakhat are going to be the to take the most amount of money edge. Way was a huge winner at Oaklawn About a month and a half ago a month ago and it's John Sadler ruinous racing etc but looking at the optics plot. It's Kinda got the four in the eighties as two of the primary speeds. But there's a lot of gas in here and when I say a lot of gas. There's obviously there's a lot of horses whose preferred style looks to be to be up on the lead now if one or two of emerging way faster than everybody then you don't get the contested battle and what have you but for a horse like edge way who similar to how. I looked at decorated and via the other day you know my my the Lens. I'm always going to look through. Is trying to find ways to beat the favourite edge? Way is a horse for a decent barn who generally is better at home but they've been doing fine at oaklawn. Six wins forty starts fifteen percent but really faced no opposition any point the race. There was one horse that kind of took a run at them on coming to the quarter pole and she shook that one off and ran off nicely but it was a pretty unpressured. First quarter and I just I mean with speed on every side of it you know. It's it's a second career start first time against winners if the horse doesn't get out of the gate perfectly with the speed of the inside and outside like that whole GonNa close real fast and so to me. It's just a total go against and I'm always happy to get beat by these kind same as same with decorated invader last week. It's I'll never be upset that okay. I got beat by good horse. That needed a few things to go. Its way it happens so no worries but I mean there's just a lot of speed I'm really excited about the the six Lexi on the move for Diaspora two wins. Both of them have been kind of garden trip stocking out in the clear trips and draws outside of a lot of the speed Franks rocket eight nine and ten horses. They all have a little bit of early lick but I don't think as much as as the ones down toward the inside selection on the move I could see falling into a good position. David with the Doro. I don't know that you're going to get eight to one. I think the foreign the Inner GonNa take most of the money so I think a decent price as possible so Franks. Rock kept the eight bill. Bought IN MARTINE GARCIA AND. This one's kind of interesting career crushed at Churchill toward the end of the meat there in the spring in the Maidan debut as the favourite got hammered for the second start because hey big huge margin winning. First Time. We're GONNA it's GonNa take money got beat at three to five. It was in the adirondack behind perfect. Alabama's good horse got beat by perfect alibi again in the spin away after making the lead midstretch. I mean she's a very talented runner second in the fridge and then comes back for her three year old debut in the any limited Gulfstream. It just rops but got the lead that day through not that fast fractions and blew the doors off in a small field. So you know going to have to go back to the stocking mode but is certainly capable of it but last time. She fired fresh with a huge open. Mike Lynch came back beat again. It was great to from a maiden special. So maybe that's a bad comparison to make but I'm going to guess this one goes off as your favorite unless word is out on the four edge. Way I'M GONNA Guess Franks rocket ends up being your favorite in this spot but a fun race. I mean just some neat angles and I think some NEAT PRICE POTENTIAL HORSES. Really looking forward to this one In just a cool cool race so with Gulfstream I kinda like I I will go over that whole card on a separate show for. Oh probably tape it Friday morning. Post it Friday morning so you know noon so everybody has Friday evening to listen if you want to but you know looking at this first race. I joke about this a lot. The Gulfstream I'll always starts their cards with a cheap maiden turf route or just a cheap turf route in general and and there's one of those in this Saturday car. The first race is twelve. Plus as going a mile maiden sixteen thousand for a three year old up. And we've talked about this before and I thought class drops would be an interesting point of conversation for for today. This race has a few class droppers but it has a lot of the ones that have been at this level for a while. And they're you know they knock on the door and sometimes things don't go their way. Sometimes things do and you know they. They kinda run similar speed figures a lot of the Times you're favored and here is the number eight. Blessed journey who was dropping from forty thousand claim the horse for fifty back in December ran it for seventy five back ran third at four to one pretty good run. ran forth for maiden fifty. They dropped a little bit but that was on the dirt and it was still a pretty good run a back to the turf for maiden forty after A little bit of a break by the way just last weekend and didn't run jump and now comes right back in seven days to run. I guess it was eight nine days by the time the race goes off to run for made sixteen. So I think it's what's really interesting to me with class. Drops right now is because of the uncertainty of of racing everywhere Our trainers trying to hey. I mean to be Nice for the barn. Have you know an extra sixteen thousand laying around if somebody wants to claim this one? Who's probably not very good anymore. Or is it ham trying to get the win? Plus the drop blessed journey to me looks like one that they're trying to get the win and trying to drop not so much trying to unload Bob Hess. Junior has not had an amazing Gulfstream Meat. But lots of seconds at third so as horses have been running. Okay this is a Lou chores again. They claim for fifty two. Haven't really done much with or since then. The Third. An off the board Person Nineteen thousand so they make ten grand there if it gets claim they get back. Twenty six okay. We lose a little money on that but coming in with with everything going on. I'm just fascinated with With trainer and owner intentions when it comes to class drop. I think it's something really interesting to watch throughout the Saturday car. I'll talk more about it when I do that. Preview show and then in the third race there's a maiden twelve five and you know there's there's a maiden special weight to maiden twelve five dropper for Scott Becker who they didn't pay much for this horse. I think they tried. The maiden special didn't go very well was last beaten eighteen. Hey let's try You know let's put it back to reality but you know how how many connections are trying to to kind of get rid of horses right now because if there is a prolonged period of no racing you know certainly pay the groom and you got to pay for the fee and everything while there is no racing for those horses so if you get one player to win a race you pick up twenty five thousand. That takes care of the bills for you. Know what I mean if you're if you're looking at three or four five thousand a month depending on where you're racing twenty. Five grand takes care five horses for a month so I think it's going to be an interesting week or two or three or however we go For claims and drops and stuff like that. So it'd be watching on some of these barns very closely over the next couple of days but like I said I will. I will try to put together a Gulfstream Saturday preview show for Friday morning midday and we will nothing wrong with an extra show anyways. Appreciate the jury coming appreciate you guys all week for tuning in really enjoyed our guest. This week I hope you guys did as well. Tommy Masters joining us. Big thanks to Tommy Terry Finley. Join US ty Kennedy from will rogers of course will rogers back in action on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday right. Did they three days. I think they just either. They just added the third day or they're adding it shortly. I forget I should look but I'm lazy. It's my Friday.
