"Doesn't just impact monetary policy There's also the earnings question because when your input costs are higher margins come into question and especially as we're entering now I believe today is 230 days where we haven't seen a pullback of 5% in the S&P 500 How vulnerable are equities at these levels as we head into earnings season I think last week we did hit an intraday 5% correction We were hoping that we would get there These markets need to have that correction The S&P just has gone almost 12 months without it I think they can be vulnerable I mean look in 2022 we're going to have a lot of headwinds We're going to have the fed doing a taper program We're going to also potentially have rate hikes going into the fourth quarter of next year The dot plot is moving forward as far as rate hikes We're going to have continued supply chain issues potential hike in taxes So I think these markets could be vulnerable but going into the end of the year we're still holding our price target on the S&P at 4800 And I think we could rally into the end of the year before we get into a more volatile marketplace in 2022 Yeah that's a nice move up You've got there forecast I hope you are correct How about a few weeks ago we had a big shock to the market when China reared its ugly head And evergrande And the concern about a contagion coming out of Asia that seems to have ebbed a little bit Is that on your radar screen We are still monitoring that And it's not just about ever grant anymore China has a lot of debt issues and that's just the first salvo We think there could be continued problems coming out of China They've got a housing issues They've got major debt issues with some of their companies and the crackdowns are doing it in the technology sector and software sector and the gaming industry and recently on Bitcoin It's going to cause even more problems in their economy And that's what we're forecasting going into 2022 Something else that could happen in 2022 maybe if you know things get together on Capitol Hill is higher tax rates to pay for longer economic or longer term economic spending How do you factor that in when making investment decisions the risk of that coming down the pike Well look a hike in corporate tax rates these big corporations they certainly have the horsepower with their tax attorneys on their payroll to maneuver around as much as they can It's the small business owner that's going to get clobbered And that is the backbone of the U.S. economy And that definitely will give some headwinds to this economic outlook Earnings growth is already in a slower growth mode as we go into 2022 adding increasing corporate taxes is only going to exacerbate that Brett got to ask in a time left Florida state Seminole football team What's going on down in Tallahassee Wow Man it's tough It's tough right now being a seminal but we do have faith in coach norvell He's a very solid individual a great leader I think I think they're going to eventually get their act together here Hopefully this weekend play in Syracuse All right Brett thank you so much for joining us We appreciate Brett doing chief market strategist first Franklin financial services on the phone from Tallahassee Florida And yes he is a graduate of the D Florida state university in Tallahassee You know when you think about it when we talk to these smart people these pros Kayleigh there's a lot that goes into that wall will worry that it is very tough to dismiss And yet you continue to see the buying of the dip behavior and to me that really strikes there's a contrast between institutional investors and retail investors and how much is it retail investors that just continually come in and buy the dip that is actually continuing to drive us higher despite all the concerns and risk factors out there Yeah absolutely And I think it's going to be very interesting as we go into this earning season starting in a couple of weeks the guidance we get from these companies it's going to be I think we're going to hear about these supply chain challenges and the impacts that will have on costs and you keep correctly bringing up the margin pressure that could eventually come into some of these companies And so that'll be really interesting to see the guidance they.

"Come into this, She says Her only regret is that she didn't speak of more loudly against talk of the But she says tremendous work was done on the vaccine in San Francisco. I'm Ed Baxter, This is Bloomberg. Douglas. Thank you, as our guest for the half hour is Brett Ewing. He is the chief market strategist at first Franklin Financial Services on the line from Tallahassee. So it looks like the market is positioned for a big stimulus program. Whether or not we're going to get to 1.9 Trillion is anyone's guess. Put that in the context of this week's Fed meeting for us All right. Thank you for having me. Um, I do think this market is priced in stimulus package quite heavily here, and I think this market is really set up for correction over the next 45 days, somewhere between 5 to 7%. Um if Congress Mrs B at all with the stimulus, I think it's coming. Brett Steven angle here in Hong Kong s o, You know, I guess Take some cash right now come out of this hot market and wait and see how earnings come out with the pandemic actually worsening and uncertainty with a fed in the stimulus. Yeah. So I mean, since the election November 3rd, we've had a historic rally. It's the largest rally over 14.3%. Into President Biden's inauguration, and that is setting the tone. If you look at all the technical indicators out there, whether it's put call ratio, Zor are a size Um, you know also, you could look at the investment manager Index that's out there Exposure index. These things are all stretched. I also looking at the Russell 2000 as well of the emerging markets, and I just feel we are getting ourselves set up here for decent correction. Yeah, we had our firm. Yeah, well, no, I was just going to make the point that both the NASDAQ comp in the Russell 2000 word record highs in the U. S on Friday. But we do have a fed meeting this week, and I'm wondering what you think. About the Fed and is in this current situation, particularly with respect to quantitative easing that may begin. Tolo kind of smack of quantitative tightening. Do you think they're gonna Tried to pivot on this bond buying program that they've been really using for most of the year last year. I do not believe they will start a pivot at this particular meeting. I think that based on comments have come out of Powell earlier in January. Um, he he's pretty much committed to ST dovish. I think we have a new FOMC voting committee coming in, But they've been pretty much all, um and consensus with where the Fed needs to be. So I do not see any major change in their $120 billion month buying. Bread very quickly before we go to the break, and we'll bring you back. Of course. After that. You talked about it. Maybe a 45 day a month and a half long correction. How deep of correction are you talking about here? Well, I think you know if you go back to the 19 fifties, and you look at when a new president steps in office. Everywhere is actually been one of the most volatile or negative months off a new presidency right after their inauguration, So we've got a lot of things working with that, but I think there could easily be a correction within the next 45 days. Somewhere between five and 10%. I think that if we got down to the 789%, I think there's a lot of money that would come in and start buying this market up. Well, maybe it's a magic. What we've seen over the last year. The by the dip mentality certainly has been still has a lot of life left and let's talk about the dollar when we continue bread and foreign markets as well bred Ewing. First Franklin our guest. "To find a way to force a turnover. We'll have to start using time outs here pretty soon as well. Florida just standing around, Let the clock tick down. After it reset. After the first down. They're on the dog's 30. For now, their offense up to the line nine seconds on the play clock. They sent a man in motion gamble the tied in to the left. He sets and they send Grimes in motion to the left. Trask will hand it off. Davis runs left now cuts in behind a blocker. And maybe got a yard to the 33 yard line on the dogs will stop the clock with a time out. 5 18 remaining as we stop the clock down 30 points of the half and the Gators moving Jalen Carter Nolan Smith on the tackle that time for the dog's defense. Our second half has been presented by first Franklin Financial. Come see the friendly folks at a Georgia branch near you. We make loans for living First Franklin Financial. Well, Scott pretty amazing. The dogs even were in this football game up till this late. It's obviously not over yet, but that that last first down really took the remaining wind out of the cells for Georgia, but You look at the stat line here. Gators with 561 total yards of offense of dogs only 2 75. Pass yards 4 74 to just 108 for the dog's rushing yards 87 for the Gators 167 yards for the dogs were the only spot that we've held the advantage. 29 1st downs only 12 for the dogs. So Florida's Trask in Alabama's Mack Jones each over 400 yards passing against Georgia's defense in their games, and Trask is not done yet. He's 26 yards away from 500 for the contest if he'll throw here And he'll skip it to Copeland. It's incomplete. Rice went for a low pick, and Campbell was in coverage to couldn't quite get it to Jacob Copeland on a little crossing route around the 25 yard line. A short hop the throw. Maybe that was intentional, not Shourd's third nine, however, for the Gators from the dog's 33 yard line,.

Looks like it was going to be able to run a little bit more than that. Ventral Miller, the linebacker. Close the gap. However, just shy of 28. He got about four yards. You got about two yards. Excuse me. It's third down and eight goes without saying every Siri's right now is critically important in the dogs have been abysmal on third down to out of nine. See if we can reverse that trend right now. I don't like that abysmal word. This's an empty set. Three receivers left and two to the right from Matheson, the shotgun snap waist high in the pocket pressure. Dancing around, he slips and falls down. Mathis tried to cut his He was stepping up in the pocket, tried to plant move to the right, and he slipped, lost his footing back at the 23 yard line. We lost five yards on that, and it's fourth down. Yeah. We have no data right now. You've got to score. You got nine minutes and 50 seconds left. But.

I met Baxter. This is Bloomberg. Rish. Hey, thanks very much. Indeed. For that. Let's get back to our guest for the half hour Brought to you in his chief market strategist at first Franklin Financial Services Dollars being done about 10% from its highs. I should I say the beginning of March of mid March. How much does this inform your investment philosophy and how much further does have to go down? Well, that's a great question. I think that if you look at what global central bankers have done since March, obviously It's unbelievable the amount of infusion of of currency into into these marketplaces and fine of bonds. We think that on a relative basis that the dollar you know those big move this summer, typically when you have such a big move one, the largest in a decade. You know, there is some foul threw on some downward pressure on the dollar for the next maybe year, even 18 months, And if you believe in that I think that You know, Part of our playbook is we do like emerging markets. And you know, we like him around the globe but specifically like in the Latin Americas area. Arm or hard commodity base. And I think that our heart asset based, however you want to look at it, and I think that I think that bodes well with this lower dollar theme here, Um Or the short run like looking at 18 months. Look at the copper this year what it's doing. I think that's a signal that there is a massive New global expansion that has started after the after the main crash that we had here and you know, it's just a way that we want to have a little participation with that, I think on a relative basis There's a little bit more upside in that market. So is it just a kind of the commodity and material names that you like in Latin America? What would you go into any other area of those markets? Yeah, we would. We would do that. I think you know the way we would look at that is we would probably play the index. Versus just, um individual names in some of those areas. I think that especially for a lot of your listeners out there. I think that would be a way that Will be a good way for them to get a little exposure there so we would Normally we would might you know, we're looking at increasing may be from 3 to 5% in some of our portfolio, So it's not a Not a huge position, but we're certainly increasing our positions in those areas. You know you're a chief market strategist. You know, given known times like this, especially, I mean, nobody could have predicted this pandemic but certainly never going predicted what it also meant for the way people are trading in the whole idea. These Robin Hood investors and indeed retail retail is ah, forced now to be reckoned with, isn't it? It's interesting. It reminds me of the days back in the 98 99 times where, uh, you know, people were dropping out of employment and All sudden declaring themselves Daytraders, So you know, I think it's great that young people are our jumping in there. Robin Hood and learning. I think I think that's how you learn right, you They're going to make mistakes, and they're going to have some victories and they're going to get overconfident and you know the markets. Mark. It's going to do what the market does. It's always very humbling experience, So I do believe it's a great thing that they are get some experience in there. You mentioned earlier, the drug rendez severe used to treat covert 19 Gilead Sciences, the company behind that, and today, they announced that they have received FDA approval. For broader distribution. Give me about 40 seconds here, your case for being exposed to pharmaceutical and biotech right now. Yeah. So we do have a little exposure in there, But what we've really enjoyed is the medical equipment and devices area. I think. That area has been, uh ah, real winner for us for a decade, and we're not lowered any exposure in that space, So that's the way we kind of play that we're not moving a lot of new money into that biotech space, even though We like it. It's just A bit out of our realm. Go ahead. All right, Brett..

So the dogs sit about four guys in to try to block that punch, and they succeeded. Now you got the punt off and it was in the air, but it had no juice on it. It just kind of fluttered in the air over the Arkansas bench, and it was a mere white that blocked it. So the dogs take over on the Arkansas 24 yard line. Bennett in a quarterback in the shotgun, split backfield, handed to Sameer White. He's often running a gap between left tackle and left guard for the dog's drives down near the 20 yard line. Grant Morgan, the linebacker with the stop about 20.5 yard line, so roughly a four yard game for Sameer, who just block that kick for the dog's Georgia threatening again as we approach the Massey Ferguson Red Zone just outside the 20 yard line. It's second down, seven, they say. So not quite four yards on the run. They call it three minute play fake rolls to the right Macintosh in front of him. He'll throw it in that direction, but just sling it out of bounds yet a man chasing bearing down on him and that was Eric Gregory, the defensive end Ben. It was about three steps in front of him and just got rid of the football on the far side of the field. That'll bring up third down and seven have been in there a little bit late. Getting that football out. He had a shot to get up the Macintosh. Who was running in the flat came open late. Bennett didn't see him. I think his eyes went down field. Justin within his progression through the hung on Macintosh a little bit longer could have got it to him for a nice pickup, missed it. So good job throwing it away. Now 13 of 20 and only his sixth game playing for the Bulldogs, the junior college transfer. George, originally of walk on time in the pocket stands, fires caught inside the 10. Terrific burden. The freshman with the catch with a man draped all over him at the seven There was Jerry Jacobs. That's a scanner energy. First down. The dogs haven't gold ago at the seven on the 13 Yard, Dart Boy give that offensive line of sire Schaefer, Hill, Cleveland and Kind, its a credit. Bennett all day to throw the football and you're right, delivered a perfect strike into Burton for the critical pick up Georgia deep inside the Massey Ferguson Red Zone, threatening to add to a 13 to 10 lead gold to go from the seventh Bennett In an empty set throws it softly to the goal line touchdown. The tight end, Fitzpatrick caught it right on the goal line just spun his way into the end zone for the score, seven yard touchdown strike for Bennett. As we start the third quarter shift, the tide in right to left hooks in the backfield snaps a little bit high, but it pulls it now and quickly gives it to cook. And they drive the pile about six yards just to the right of the far hash cookout in there behind the offensive line, and they Search for about six yards in that game. They should get credit for that carry out. They could just got in there behind it. He had the ball in his hands, but Big linemen were moving some other bodies off the off the line of scrimmage. Second four for the dogs. We haven't seen that much is afternoon where Georgia wins the battle of the line of scrimmage. But did we ever on that play Bennet? Another high snap a little bit gives it to Zeus. Sameer White up the hash mark. Falling just a yard shy the first down. He's got about three yards on that carry to the 34. So third one dogs ready to go. We toss it. Zamir wide. He's going to get the first down and more bouncing outside. The numbers across the 40 lowers the shoulders drives through the 45 crewman.
