"franker beena" Discussed on The HoopsHype Podcast With Alex Kennedy

"Welcome to the PODCAST. My name is Alex Kennedy. Joining me today. Is My hoops hype. Colleague Brian Calabro e Brian. All right how are you. I'm GONNA hell exits. It's good to hear from you and I hope that we can make this the best Serbian done yet man. That's always fun. That's always the goal. Absolutely I want had to bring you on today to discuss some of the teams and players who got off to a strong start around the NBA. And where are they can keep their early season success. We're going to talk about whether they'll come. Come back down to Earth or not so. Let's start with teams. I think right now the biggest surprise around the NBA when you talk about teams or players is the Phoenix Suns. They have been fantastic. Start the season. They're off to a six and three start. They be in the clippers warriors with draymond green and Steph curry for half the game. He hurt his hand in that game. They beat the sixers. The nets their losses are to good teams Denver. Utah Miami and if you look at their losses they lost the Denver in overtime by one point and to Utah by one point so I I mean they've been off to a fantastic start. I don't think anyone expected this out of Phoenix when you talk about You know the team over the off season. I'm sure they're fans were hopeful and wanted to happen but they've been amazing. So far. Do you think will come back down to earth or could they be a playoff team this year. You Know I. I don't think money can exam. Phoenix Suns fans have ever been very helpful in the last. The the truth is to be honest with you so I wouldn't even say the fans would be expecting this either. I mean obviously anytime you make a coaching change There's going to be some sort of difference difference whether better or worse You know it's just going to be a new look. I think Monty Williams or somebody that has been so respected for so long That you no. I think that a lot of people kind of expected him at least an insider circles to to do well those who know him those of kind of here in Ottawa basketball. Those knows background about that was your even before the season started the best coaching hire of the off season. And then the other factor of course is that you're Devon Booker is getting More experienced you know getting Getting older getting more familiar with the pace in the flow of the game. And you know the thing is when you come into the league that young sometimes it might take a few years. I mean they drafted a rookie. you know someone coming straight with North Carolina Cam Johnson. WHO's already his? You know the same at the same age as down booker so And a lot of a lot of ways. I mean you kind of had the almost slow your expectations from booker in the beginning. Because he was so young coming into the NBA and this is definitely been his best season to date. And you're the thighs the doing all of this Andre Eytan really His suspension is is even more amazing fame. Explain I I've I've really really really been impressed by Aaron Baynes. And just the way that he's played I think makes it sustainable bowl in the short term Just considering how great of a fit you know he and Kamensky of Ben as floorspace shooting big man as you. A stretch bigs essentially for that sons often. Some very curious out you know what will happen and whether or not that it could be sustainable. Our this style. I'll wants the Andrea and it was it was not a someone able to who it was with spreads floor when he comes back. That's a good point I it's interesting to see how eight and kind of fits into this Our colleague Frank Franker Beena wrote a fantastic article about Booker's early season success and basically pointed out. He's shooting the ball way better that before you know. He's been super efficient not only from from the field but also from three point range. He's finishing at the rim better than ever before is playing great defense to and then he wrote about Aaron Band as well and the fact that he's creating a lot of open looks for booker occur with his excellent screens. So I mean I think it. Is You know partially this. New Look Unique Suns Roster in the fifth at these guys have had you know these guys are fitting extremely really well. Ricky Rubio has also been there and he's helping and kind of creating some easy look for his teammates which has always been able to do. And if you look at it you mentioned booker's age I mean. He turned twenty three years old last month yet this is his NBA season. I mean he's one of those guys that he was so young when he entered the NBA. So we still super young right now but has tons of experience agreeance in the NBA as well. That's a great Combo so I'm happy for expands. I think this is the first time in a while something to be excited about. It's been pretty weak in recent years. Here's And I think it only reason why I believe this team will be able to sustain the success. Success is because they're doing it on both ends they have the third offense in the NBA. And the ninth best defense so again. Booker is part of that defensive resurgence. He's been playing really well on the defensive end They also have a pretty nice point differential plus seven point. Eight points You know I think whenever I'm looking at whether team Kinda keep this up. I typically look to see. Are they winning games. Just barely and eventually they're gonNA start. You know not really getting the same bounces and start losing some of those close games but they've been winning pretty convincingly to and again you know they nearly beat Utah in Denver. They lost those close games. So I think this I've seen keep it up. I'm hoping that can make the playoffs again. Kids sons fans haven't had a plan root for quite some time is going to be really hard that western conference. I mean the West is so brutal. There's going to be at least two or three really good teams. That missed the playoffs out west. Just because conferences loaded but I do think this is going to continue to surprise us. Just can't AH. I can't emphasize enough. I mentioned earlier. Is You know if you look at the high volume finishers. You know guys who have already finished hundred possessions on offense There there are one hundred thirty or so them one hundred thirty players with their shutout as many possessions as Aaron Band so far no one has been more efficient on offense so far the band. He's averaging more points per possession than anybody in the NBA at that level Devon Booker ranks top ten metric. Actually Kelly Oubre stop twenty the same in the second metric as well So you know. Aaron bands has been such a fantastic pick and roll partner as a roll. Man With Devon Booker He he's been somebody who Just as really fit in so well somebody who just plays a such a intense brand of basketball in Israeli. Just been such a great fit and Ricky Rubio tejinder and altogether as a point guard with so much experience to just been awesome to watch for sure. Uber has been great. I had drew Hamlin on the podcast. Most recently are lowered last episode and he broke down. You know what he worked with Kelly over the off season He trains and he was actually out in Phoenix. The podcast and yeah. I mean Kelly's having a career across the board the two. He's been a big pickup for them. And you can kind of trace being Phoenix Star playing pretty well in the second half of last season after the break trade. They won a few games surprise people then so this team is definitely different with Uber. Then sure enough bands and and Rubio have been able to improve the team as well. So yeah it's been. It's been fun to walk. This Phoenix team. I hope they can keep it up. Let's talk about Aron Baynes old team the Boston Celtics they have the NBA's best record right now. Seven in one again they're point. Differential is also impressive. Plus nine point three they have the fourth best offense and six as defense so again a team. That's getting it done on both ends of the floor which is what I was Kinda look for And they've had some easy games versus said New York Cleveland. Charlotte they the next twice. Actually but they defeated Toronto Milwaukee San Antonio I mean there are some really impressive wins in there too. This is a team that looks very different from last year. Obviously Kemba Walker was there big offseason addition. But you'd think that this is their adjustment period that they're kind of going through that transition and figuring out how to play together but they've won Saturday games. What do you think about this Boston team to me? I mean obviously in light of the news. The news is still coming out about how long the injury will be for Gordon Hayward but the biggest edition the biggest change for them was just production. They were getting from a Gordon Hayward who has looked so much better I mean one thing I felt was really really impressive about him to is just the way that he and really Stepped up as a distributor to his assist percentage rank in the ninety seventh percentile among L.. Forward to the NBA As a usage has been great Considering you know a lot of the Times you're assist is going to your sister. And a combination of high usage rate is usage. Trey was still third on the team. You know obviously behind Kemba Walker and Jason Tatum. But when he did get the ball was basically activists such an efficient You know ball handler and distributor for the Celtics Team So I definitely hope for for their sake that a Gordon Hayward can can really come back from whatever this injury is on however long Thomas Entry takes him To be strong player he had been playing but he had been such an impressive Addition you look at how scary the injury was that he he had kept him out for so long on those things. Take such a long time to recover from An. You saw fairly similar thing with Paul. George Recovery When he when he went out for a while is takes a while to get back into form while I think the biggest change for the Celtics is that you start into look like the Max player signed before the injury so I definitely hope that He's able to get you know get better soon. I'll they don't rush him back. I don't think that they Will or plan to considering that you have a lot of depth specially the opposition You know especially in your having someone like Jalen Brown you know having other players were young still need those minutes too so I don't think it's GonNa get kill them. But I think the biggest change inch not Kyrie to Kemba switch but rather adding someone like Gordon Hayward addition by your own roster essentially. That's a great point. He he was playing fantastic basketball. He was playing such efficient basketball to fifty five percent. Fifty five point five percent from the field and then shooting almost forty four percent from three..

"I'm really frustrated me. Was that realistically your. Oh guys like Magic Johnson. We're getting the Lakers find for for their comments that were made just another player and that that to me always always felt a little ridiculous like A little bit of positivity about another guy in the league isn't isn't necessarily him saying you. You have to leave your team play for Mine but yeah I think. I think that you've made some some really good points but that's one thing I just wanted to. At the end here is that it was really we always a kind of a joke to me van idea of complimenting another player saying that you know he's he's not a very good job. It is really good basketball blend underwrite Lebron This was actually at the Brooklyn. Nets gain a game where Lebron basically said like asked me. If I WANNA play with this I asked me if I wanNA play with this person like yes. Of course I WANNA put it is all I think by keeping keeping the players happy has been a big part of what may successful lund to play in the NBA and I think you know when you take away any measures of that fun. you know you're earning a little bit part of the relevant that's kind of been the secret sauce for rouse the belongs to years and I'm really glad overall the movement radio. Maybe a little bit away from the idea that will Lebron's side my interview where he was like. I would like to throw the debates. I don't think got his tampering. I think that was Lebron. Just being honest and you being a journalist is one thing I love. It's transparency some of the truth what's doing on. Let let me let me know what's going on in Nashville Lebron's doing and you know a big part of the NBA recently been keeping Lebron's happy to is used as a big integral part of the of the Lakers cavaliers is he an national international identity both on and off the court or whatever he wants is important to the future league. I think but I'm glad to see the idea of compliments player for being good at basketball longer partial offense. Yeah I completely agree with that. I think it's insane to think that Doc rivers complementing Kawai I Leonard and saying yeah he looks all Jordan. He's great on both ends of the floor. The idea that Kuwadzana think wow that was a great compliment. I'M GONNA go sign the clippers. This summer like come on. That's not a thing and I agree with you players. Could definitely you know we saw players. Were wondering what they could and couldn't say you had Lebron James Getting investigative for saying yeah. I like Anthony Anthony Davis but the night before two nights before I forget it was always before Janas Gupo. There were reports that he was yelling out. Davis Milwaukee like you know possibly joking possibly possibly not but I mean there was no talk about Yoenis breaking the rules and so I think again it just a matter of it being really. Can you have to be consistent with the stuff you you know. If you're going to punish your article Braun in the Lakers make sure that if the Milwaukee Bucks and Yoenis are having the same conversation even with the threat doesn't seem as you know as is big because they're not the rich Paul Connection. Because Anthony Davis has been linked to the bucks or whatever you have to take these threats seriously. I do think that's one area where this this call or or this hotline could become interesting. you know you can provide those kinds of tips. I know a lot of people are going to like it like you're saying players will like it. Fans won't like it but it does. It does give teams away if they feel like they're. GonNa lose their star player because a team is doing too much then they can kind of tip the league off and say hey you may WanNa look into this this team but again you know I'm wondering how much of this is just. They're putting these things in place to scare teams in the not tampering or at least do a better job of hiding it like. I said you know if if you're doing it overtaxed or email anyway then you kind of get caught I'm wondering how much of this is us. Let's put this stuff out there so fans think we're taking it seriously and and and teams are kind of deterred and Kinda scared away from doing this but at the end of the day we're not. GonNa find someone ten million dollars or take away. Multiple draft picks six or be that aggressive with it. That's that's going to be what I'm curious to see is this just the NBA putting this out there and and having talk or they actually going to be willing to crack down on teams in enforce these rules yeah definitely. I think you know one thing but is also important when it comes to violations as Um you never want your your punishment to seeing like a joke is I'm deeply completely bounce around it so he didn't mention this earlier but I think the idea of having a of maybe a higher isn't as enforce as often as like listen for extreme measures were taken seriously but you know unless it is not extreme thing on another. It's really worth I getting particularly terrified or like overly forte about it. Yeah I agree with you again. I mean we said the Lakers got fined the five hundred thousand dollars two thousand seventeen tampering but there was also a fifty thousand dollar fine the following year so those kind of numbers. I I know fans were thinking why would that stop the the Lakers from doing this. one thing that's interesting now the fine for unauthorized agreement so we kind of talked about the ideals audio's like the one Joe Smith of Minnesota Timberwolves where you know he was going to take less money now to get paid later and it was an agreement under the table circumventing the salary cap and that's always that's always been an issue and you know the Minnesota Timberwolves. They lost picks from that now the new rule the timberwolves lost five first-round pick so that it was a really really that was a big punishment then now they're also adding that a player can be fine at six million dollars because really Joe Smith probably probably doesn't I mean yeah you want those five picks to make your team more competitive but that doesn't take money out Joe Smith pocket so now in addition to teams being able to lose you know multiple the first round picks. They'll find the player for any kind of sided deal too. So you know had that happened. You know now Joe Smith would have also been fined up to six million dollars so there's that the penalty for both sides now rather than just team side. You're also GONNA punish the players side and I think that's a smart edition. I one thing that you know I I'm doing an article right now actually me and and Franker Beena who's also another hoop site colleague of mine. We're doing articles on these extension talks that are happening around the NBA right now and we were talking about Pasco Siaka Toronto Raptors and an Eastern Conference. General Manager told me you know even if they don't sign him now. Let's say they want to make sure his cap hold stay small so they can go and have more more money to spend in free agency and more cap space. They could just make aside agreement or an under the table agreement and say hey. Here's why we can't pay you now. We're going to do a deal for you later. Though I once free free agencies here and we use our cap space so that we can sign you last and I found it interesting and I asked about that. You know does that happen often. He's like Oh yeah that happens all the time you know we we we think about sometimes these side agreements being you know in free agency where a team like the clippers are contacting. Kawhi Leonard and saying hey we're GONNA sign you next summer. We're GONNA do this and that but a lot of times these are agreements that had with players that are on your team. You know you're talking to the agent. Throughout the year about extension talks about their upcoming free agency and the you know the general manager flat out said. Yes that does happen where a team will say. We won't pay you right now as an extension even though we love your game think you're worth it. You know we want to have aw we want to have your small cap. Hold on the books and have more couchbase. We'll pay you X. Number of dollars later that kind of thing will now be something that you know technically technically that happens either the agent or the team are supposed to report that within twenty four hours and if the if the team gets caught doing that the player could lose a six million dollars and and the team could get up to five first round draft pick so that's an interesting rule they're adding to or expanding on at least while on the topic of contracts that had little sidestep relations in them. One of them all always remember. Walla wasn't in the NBA was when Manny Ramirez Authors I`Ma be rare rare wants Japan and had a solution that he was allowed to eat as much Sushi as he wanted Moslem Mesa have paid for by the team to take that I think that is just a bad thing about from time to time but it just makes me sort of small seemed creative man you know we've heard there was talk about the Knicks Knicks whenever they were trying to bring you know recent Karl Anthony there was talk about you know law law getting her on TV show and technically it was MSG and they could just give her as much money as they want to and and because they're married I mean you could make the argument that maybe they're finally separated who knows how they're doing things but the NBA looked into it was thinking okay this could be survey cap if you're just basically putting money into Carmelo's pocket at different way through MSG. There have been things like that and again. I think Uncle Dentists Kawais is oncle was apparently demanding unauthorized benefits from teams and the NBA like okay. We need to put a stop to this so the side agreements the things that are outside of contract where you're circumventing the CAP. Those are going to be taken more seriously as well so we'll see what this all means I think free agency snow going be fun. You're going to see a lot of movement. I do think next exteriors free agency period is going to be pretty boring anytime you have a huge summer like this guy signing multi year deals it typically means the next free agency class is going to be kind of weak and if you you look at some of the guys that are going to be available next summer. It's it's not really it's nowhere near as impressive or interesting as this summer so so next year will be a little bit weak but I think the NBA understands player. Movement is what makes everyone so excited and they're not going to do anything to jeopardize that so while there may be introducing things we'll see how they actually enforce them. I man well. This has been fun. Thank you for joining me and talking about these new rules again. I think a lot of fans heard about that. Maybe didn't understand you know what it actually meant so thanks thanks for joining me to break it down. Brian Yeah man it was great to be here and look forward to the next one. We're going to be doing a lot of podcasts this season we'll be dropping podcast every single single Monday and Thursday during the NBA season a lot of player interviews executive interviews different media members are going to join me on the podcast and make sure you guys are subscribed anywhere you listen to your podcast..

"Welcome to hoops hype podcast. My name is Alex Kennedy and joining me today to break down a trade that actually just happened as well. As some other trade deadline news at rumors is my hoops hype colleague franker Beena, Frank what's being great Alex almost during in the morning, but I got a freaking jolts advantage. And like I chunked a coffee after I check my phone for one last time tonight. I see back to back bombs from shops and from wool Zhang Tobias. Harris freaking traded Tobias Harris. This is I love this leak so much it can be three in the morning. And then, you know, NBA nerds like you. And I just rushed our laptops to record a podcast. This league is the best for anyone who missed the trade. The Los Angeles Clippers are trading to bias areas. Bo-bottle Ianovich and Mike Scott to the Sixers for Landry. Shamet Wilson Chandler, Mike Scala and a two thousand twenty first rounder and a two thousand twenty one unprotected first rounder via Miami and then to second rounders. So that's the whole deal. Whenever I saw Tobias Harris is the first jumps out, obviously. Because I mean, the is having a monster year he has been useful about as a possible all stars have because he's playing so well, he's averaging twenty point seven points seven point, nine rebounds, two point seven assists, two threes per game. He's been very efficient to he shooting. Forty nine point three percent from the field for a two point two percent from three point range. He's in the seventy third percentile in isolation scoring and actually this is interesting to me. I tweeted this out because whenever Jimmy Butler got traded to the Philadelphia. Seventy Sixers I and cover the team and spent two days around them. It was ballers first time, you know, getting into Philly meeting everyone and all of that. And one thing that to me was dwelling beat said, we have something now that we never had before someone to create their own shots and make shots off the dribble. And that was right. You know, he was talking about Butler's ability to create for himself, and now with Tobias Harris a guy that has I mentioned is so good ice. Oh situations. And really hasn't been doing this whole career. He's always been a guy that can score for himself, and you know, create buckets. I cover him in Orlando for a while. So I got to know Tobias pretty well. He's the kind of guy that really can carry an offense. But on top of that he's also a guy that knows his role and is a really good locker room guy. You know, you look at Jimmy Butler, and some of the issues that have popped up there where you have a number of these alpha males in Philly and everyone wants the ball. Everyone wants attention in that kind of thing to buys the exact opposite of that to by a quiet guy. He's he's going to be absolutely fine being the third or fourth star on this team. But I think he still such an underrated talent. So this is kind of move that people like you, and I freak out over because we see how good this team could be, you know, whereas a casual fan may here Tobias Harris and think oh, I don't really know what drives game. But how excited are you for this move because I look at it. And I'm wondering, okay, first of all how can the Sixers team be Tobias areas is a perfect fit because he cannot not only score the ball off the dribble. But he is so great at catching shooting opportunities. You shooting forty two point two. Percent from three which is already three points. He was a huge refill already. You add to things that they absolutely needed. He's only twenty six years old. So don't expect any kind of declined. They could resign him the summer. He's at unrestricted free agent this summer. So they could resign him. This is a very very interesting move. And if I'm the if I'm a team like the Toronto Raptors or Milwaukee Bucks Indiana Pacers that was competing with Philly and near the top of the Eastern Conference. I hate this right now. Absolutely. I mean, what a train like just I don't know where to land the guy like Tobias hairs..

"Welcome to the podcast by name is Alex Kennedy. Joining me today to break down some of the all Star News that we got today is my hoops hype colleague franker Beena Frank I do a man doing Growlings happy to be here. Talking to you. I'm glad you're feeling better. It's been awhile since we talked so got to get back on recording another podcast. Yeah. Thanks for your time. I want to apologize. I wanna address that actually because in the past. I haven't really talked about too much stuff in terms of like health issues. Just because you know, no one wants to hear about that as a basketball podcast. It's entertaining. But I want to apologize because in the beginning of the year, we had to episodes with Hamilton and Ben Gulliver and on both episodes. I may I'd made the comment that we were going to start putting out two to three podcasts per week. We were going to stick to a certain content schedule right now, basically, we drop episodes. If there's something to react to or there's, you know, a guest that can join us, but we want to actually have a schedule. So you guys know when to come check out a new episode? So we're. Making some changes, and we were in the process of doing that. And then I've mentioned this before I have Crohn's disease and really flare ups could come out of nowhere. So I was hospitalized for twelve days, which kind of threw a wrench in everything. And now we are back. I'm doing much better. Now, the guys over your Franken and horray Brian you guys held the fort down fantastic job. And now we are back. We're gonna we're going to get to the point where we're doing two or three podcasts per week. And the same plan is still stands. It's just there were some life events that got in the way. But before we before we get into our topic today. I wanted.

"Rumors around the NBA is my colleague franker Beena. Frank was up in Alex. How you doing? I'm doing. Okay, a little bit sick. So sorry for everyone listening that my voice is kind of off. I feel like I'm going through fewer game. I've always cracking again. But we're gonna try my best here Franks and to carry us throughout this podcasts. Basically every two weeks. Frank has the putting out different articles that count the number of times each player has the mentioned on the rumor page on hoops, I've been linked to specifically trade rumors. So every two weeks he puts out an article with a top five players. The guys that I mentioned a traitor was the most. And then we jump out here to kind of break down the latest information sharing those guys, and what we think may happen. So the newest articles out you could check it out on hoops hype. It's called NBA trade room rakings and make sure you check out all the articles even doing terrific job. But I want to have Franklin to kind of break down these trade. Rumors, and what we think may happen. So let's start with number five the. Fifth player that was most mentioned on trade. Rumors over the last two weeks who do you have a number five Frank number five came out to be John wall from the wizards as actually been a couple of weeks as we prayed anything concrete on the job while trade front, I guess because because the wizards started playing a little I guess a little bit better. They also went through the whole Kelly, you break trade fiasco with the Brooks with the wrong Brooks being sent to the to the Phoenix Suns or whatever. So people kind of forgot about oh, our Beal John wall still in the trading block right now, it seems like they're not I would say if they have a fire sale. I don't think it's going to include John wall or Bradley Beal or porter anytime soon, if one does come it'll be probably by the February trade that line the latest referred on John wall came courtesy of the New York Post Mark Berman who's a spirit reliable reporter for in the New York market. And he said that there's a belief league-wide that the Knicks are stockpiling assets at the moment to make a move for for specifically for John wall. And then that kind of ever went up in a tape and some Nick stands weren't pleased with that just because I mean, while still a great players and all star caliber point guard, maybe even all MBA at his peak, but he's got a Di huge content that we've talked about another episodes of the series, and it's got a trade kicker on. And I think the Knicks Knicks fans kinda expected I don't know a bigger hall may be from the next from the upcoming twenty ninety eight because he period that kind of had their hopes set for like a Cairo Irving, our Kevin Durant. So basically Berman said that people around the league thing that the mix might be interested in a move for a wall. And then that was refuted pretty emphatically. Not a soon thereafter by Ian, Begley of ESPN was extremely reliable. Reporter does a great job for them covering the Knicks. He tweeted after that article came out saying Knicks haven't had any internal discussions about a potential trade for John wall. A report earlier said it was believe around the NBA that the mix will make a significant significant push for awhile deal physically saying that that's not really the case that just kind of goes along with what we all. Leave that trading wall would be extremely difficult because he's got that supermax extension that hasn't even kicked in yet. Another kick until next season. Like, I said before that comes with a trade kicker so movie, that's an abuse of very difficult exercise. And I don't think we're anywhere near resolution on that nor do I think it's gonna happen anytime soon if it does happen at all earlier in the season, you actually put together article and video that had four potential destinations for John wall in the Knicks run your list, they were one of the teams that.

"My name is Alex Kennedy. And this has been a crazy night in the NBA. There's never a dull moment in this league. Tonight. We had a three team deal that almost went down between the Washington Wizards Phoenix Suns at Memphis grizzlies fell apart because the teams involved didn't know which player with the last name Brooks was being involved. It's a crazy night and here to break it all down with me is my hoops hype colleague franker Beena, Frank. What does this have been like for you, buddy? All considering I was running the hoops rumors page tonight. You said is usually crazy enough with an actual trade goes through. But then when you're halfway done with tonight. And you think you have a trade ready to go. And then you get slammed with the trend falling apart because it's user confused about which player was getting set. It was pretty crazy night for me. And we wanted to jump on here to recap it all talk about the deal that didn't happen to talk about what happens next. This has to be extremely awkward for the teams and the players involved because they knew they're about to get traded. And it didn't happen. Kind of reminds you of the three team deal that was. Toed years ago, the CPA three deal involving Houston L A and New Orleans after that we saw what happened where Lamar Odom was upset. It was very awkward for all those teams whenever there's an agreed upon trade. And you know as a player you were about to get dealt. But then something little happen. The league office vetos it or the or this kind of thing happens where the teams back out because there's a issue with the deal, then it has to be kinda crazy as a player because on one hand you relieved that you don't have to relocate and get traded on the other hand, it's kind of disappointed in know, your team is about the send you out for Marshon Brooks who will get into it a second exactly what happened here. But you know, for his inclusion to be the reason the deal didn't happen. It has to kind of feel kind of crappy too. So for those who missed it, and there's going to be so when people waking up on Saturday morning, and or they're they're out tonight partying and clubbing or whatever they're going to get back and try to follow along to what happened, and it's so hard to explain because every three minutes, we had a new update with some crazy information. So here's the deal that almost. What happened the wizards would have received Trevor REEs, a two thousand twenty second round pick and a conditional two thousand nine hundred nine second rounder, the sons would have received Austin rivers, Wayne, Selden and Dillon Brooks. That's who they thought they would have received one of the Brooks is and then the grizzly is would have received Kelly Oubre. Now, the issue here is the thought they were getting Dillon Brooks from Memphis grizzlies thought they were sending marshawn Brooks to Phoenix. So the there was a mistake over Dillon Brooks marshawn Brooks, these are very different players Dillon. Brooks is a young player who was a second round pick. He's been very good since he entered the NBA. He has a lot of upside marshawn Brooks is twenty nine years old. He has been a journeyman in the NBA played in China briefly, then came back to the NBA sign with Memphis. So Phoenix apparently all along thought they were getting Dillon Brooks. There's been a report from John gamma Doro who's a radio host in Phoenix that the sons all along thought they were getting Dillon Brooks. They had a conversation with Memphis, and apparently Dillon Brooks was mentioned specifically they started doing other homework on Dylan. Brooks looking up his medical information. Apparently, they liked him a lot during the draft process that came from Oliver Maroney who's very close with Dillon Brooks. There's a lot of information here suggesting that Phoenix thought it was Dillon Brooks Washington has also came out and kind of defended themselves because their reports that they were they were kind of handling the communication between all the teams. They were passing on the information from Phoenix to Memphis and vice versa. They have said that Dillon. Brooks was mentioned Memphis insists that no marshawn Brooks was the only player that was mentioned..

"Welcome to the podcast by name is Alex Kennedy. And joining me today to discuss some of the most untradable contracts in the NBA is my hoop side colleague, franker Beena, Frank. How're you doing man doing great, Alex happy to be here? Talking some immovable deals. Yeah. I think we've come to learn now that there's no contract with actually untradable back in the day. People looked at Gilbert arenas or Rashard Lewis. And those guys both end up getting moved actually for each other. And then in more recent history guys like to iffy. Mas gov. We've seen that trades. Every contract is treatable to someone. It's just there's deals that are very difficult to trade where you have to attach certain assets like a first round pick, or you know, a young player that's attractive teams. So these deals are necessarily untradable. They're just the most difficult to trade Frank rotate fantastic article over hoops hype where he picked the worst contract on every single NBA team. So all three teams are there, including your favorite team. And he basically said which contract is the toughest of move for a number of reasons. The length either the size combination of both the player may not even be contributing on their team. He be sitting there and not playing much at all. So it makes it very tough to move. We're today, though, we're gonna talk about fifteen of the worst contracts here if you guys want to go check out the entire article make sure you do that by the way, it's really good. And you could see all thirty teams in each team's worse contract today. We picked out fifteen that are that really stand out as some of the worst deals in the NBA that are extremely difficult to move. So we want to focus on those ones. Here are the podcast today. But make sure you took the article is really really good stuff Frank. Let's just go and get started here. Who's the first player that you have in terms of having an untradable contract? Yeah. I guess we'll start in reverse order over the Washington Wizards player. I chose from them is yon Mahim. I could've gone on a few more. We could have gone on a few different directions with this one. I reporters deal he's making around one hundred four million dollars and a lot of money for a guy who contender would be. Maybe that's four best player if that and it's three point shootings down this year. Obviously, the wizards overall are just on and, but he hasn't really helped matters much all we could have gone with John wall. I know it's kind of maybe sacrificed to say because he's like he's a former all star point guard who stole really really good when he's healthy. But as supermax extension kicks in next year, it's worth one hundred hundred sixty nine point four million dollars or four years. And when we heard about there being potential was just having a fire sale. And maybe guys that wall or building available Zach Lowe, an agent was Rosty from ESPN both mentioned that they both have heard from sources that walls contract is borderline immovable unless the wizards do to give up a controllable asset as part of the deal. So that's that's where things are with the wizards right now that those guys who already talked about aren't the worst contract to me. It's still Yama Heaney their backup center the guys averaging for his career five point one points four point three dollars per game. He's already thirty. He's in his age thirty two season as we know why Howard had they injury troubles with his lower bag that force it to miss out on a lot of time. That's gonna miss make miss most of the year and John McCain east only playing thirteen point five minutes, averaging three points three point eight points per game. So won't point. Yeah. He was a solid serviceable backup center for Indiana. Pacers teams he would backup ROY Hibbert and give the heat. I remember specifically he would give the he a lot of trouble back in the day..

"My name is Alex Kennedy. And joining me today for the second installment of our trade rumor watched series is my colleague from hoops hype franker Beena Frank how're you doing fantastic. Alex, ready to talk some more trades. Yes. So for those you missed it, and we have in new series that is on hoops hype. And there are a series of articles. But then we come on here afterwards and talk about them and cut an update each situation. Basically, we look at the players who have been mentioned the most in trade rumors over the past two weeks. So every fourteen days Frank is producing an article on hoops dot com or he goes, and he looks through our rumors page for those that don't know you're late to the party. But hoops hype has an extremely in-depth rumors page where every single tweet or report anytime, there's someone mentioned in a trade room or or a free agency rumor or you know, there's an injury report or coaching change anything. We update the rumors page. So lately, we've been going through counting who's dimensioned the most on our rumor page that has the trade tag. So basically, which players are being mentioned in a trade. Rumors at the moment and every week Frank goes through and rates about the five players who are being mentioned the most. So if you wanna follow throughout the season, which players are servicing in trade. Rumors a trade talks. This is the perfect way to do that we go through all the reporters, you know, from Adrian jonoski, Mark Stein. Sam amick, Kris Haines, Windhorst all the top guys. We're going through their accounts in going on Twitter reading all their article is we're making sure you guys don't miss anything. This is a way to make sure you know, all the latest trade rumors in the NBA. So last week. We did the first installment and basically broke down the five players who were showing up in trade talks. Really this the two weeks later. It's a lot of different names. We obviously had Jimmy Butler trade so. So that's not taking out as much of the headlines in. Now, there's some more all stars in the mix that are being mentioned. So let's just jump right into L. Let's get to the players number five was Kyle Korver from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Frank alternative overdue now, can you cut update everyone on the corporate situation. Why his dance popping up right? The first time has been came up with a couple of weeks ago. Like right after homeless for as part of the series, and it was basically Bryant wind horse and woes from SPN, obviously talking about how they were trade talks around the in corporate last year in that. Now, they're resurfacing a little bit since obviously, I mean absurd to win twelve they're like twenty seven rating, I believe like negative eight point to negative points overall. And they're they're already going to rebuild they fired time Liu. So obviously, a guy like alcove or who's thirty seven years old just doesn't make sense in roster any more. So basically what was in and Windhorst were saying Dr are popping up. And then since then we had one report linking him to. The Milwaukee Bucks, which makes sense just because they're one of the contenders in the east, and you can't you can have enough shooting to surround the Eric Bledsoe in Janas Kupa with and then besides them. There was another report linking him from Keith Pompeii of the Fillion choir. I believe making him to the Sixers, which is really interesting. That's my favorite endings proper him. It might have gotten a little bit tougher now that Jerry betas was included in the trade the Jimmy Butler the museum Minnesota now because his salary was really compatible with Corvers would emit mid made for a really easy one for once walk, but he's not there anymore. So the logistics got a little bit trickier..

"And joining me today is my hoops hype colleague franker beena frank i you man alex thanks for having me again yeah thank you for joining me this is another breaking news emergency podcast we have another move that has changed the landscape at the nba quite a bit so as we did whenever lebron james joy de lakers we are getting on this podcast to talk about it will know what it means for the rest of the league what's going to happen next demarcus cousins agreed to a one year five point three million dollar deal that's the tax payer may middle exception with the golden state warriors that means they have five all stars from last year and they're starting lineup they replaced vail mcgee with demarcus cousins who last year average twenty five points per game twelve rebounds plum point six blocks one point six steals five point four assists this is the guy that dominated last year and now he's doing the warriors now he did have the achilles injury he ruptured his achilles and yee's working back from that he says he wants to play in training camp come back for the start of the year that's what he told marc spears from spn but we know that injury can last a long time and caused guys to be sidelined for quite some time and even when guys do come back sometimes they have some trouble so word yet and all of that talk about other players that have been through two killers injury and what's could mean for demarcus will kind of role have on the warriors blah start with this we use apprised by this move and we heard that the celtics were the runner up they were also in the mix delivers the blazers and obviously the pelicans going back to new orleans may be on a multi year larger deal are you surprised by this and do you feel it's the right move for boogie cousins at surprised can describe my emotion when i got the notification from shamsher any of that bookie was going to the to the warriors i mean i literally let out a guffaw of swords i got my roommate was like what the high beneath that i was hyper mentally wife was worried about me too i was like are you kidding me widely i lost my lost my ship for his again she was like what's happening right now no exactly yeah i mean the labonte the lakers stop was kind of shocking because it's the best player in basketball going to the biggest market and basketball that was surprising but this was a whole 'nother level in a million years this morning if you had told me that the wars will be signing demarcus cousins i would have said no way like there's no chance like it was so surprising sort of left field there was no scuttle about it at all no schedule even interest we didn't even know the warriors were interested and it was funny shams tweeted this out he said that whenever the warriors heard about mutual interest and interest from demarcus they didn't believe it at first that's how craziest was even the warriors didn't think it was real until they actually got in the phone and talk to him and his camp guy with good reason i mean it's arguably the best center basketball one of the three best centers in basketball joining a team that's all about small ball and stuff if if they had one weakness it was there senate rotation which went like five deep last year and they were i mean each guy was arguably worse than the last mean i mean notice respect you can make a difference in the final is a good better and braxton's looney really picked up his plan stop but this is freaking damarcus causes you know what i mean like you said the average twenty five points almost thirteen boards i was last season the only guy to ever do that in a year is kareem abdul abduljabbar like now we'll chamber them back in the day no one else just cream so for this guy to join a team fixed like they're the only maintenance they have which is the big man spot is freaking insane when you think about it i mean i guess maybe they're closing lineup would still may be best if as the hamptons five with hey calling that same nickname but with with iggy with iggy with iran with with klay with curry with draymond with cousins on the.
