"Does he want to be here? Not be here. Got to get all that out now Marcelino Marino that looks like a good signing that that's going to be a guy that's definitely going to help this team out, you know, next year. And who they have for their manager. You know, the reports are that you know if we're if we're looking at, okay. SATs are Frank Tabor, which side They're trying to go back to their trying to get back to more of what Taco Wass. And I think one of the things that Atlanta United in bringing Frank deported, and I think they lost their way a little bit. I think that they lost their nerve did they lost their their sort of their identities or they're playing personality. Of of what they are. You know, It's not an exciting brand of soccer right now that they're putting out there on the field, and I understand Look. Even sometimes, if you don't get the results, style of play, Khun B. Another thing I don't think the creating of chances we know they don't finish enough. We get that, But I don't think that create enough chances, you know. Let's face it, You know, Think about it in the same vein is is dating. You know, if you if you want to land that girl, you got to keep throwing your fishing. We were out there, right? You gotta just you got to keep you know. You go through your rejections to get that to get that one? Yes or what have you so same thing? You know you want that goal, You have to keep firing away and you have to be willing to just keep firing and setting up chances and And taking them out there, so ah, and I'm curious to see what kind of, you know scoring opportunities. Gold Chance's things like that that land united head where they rank in In all of that, I'll look some of that information up. A swell out there. But look, this is a This is a franchise that captured the imagination of the city. And it was a very lackluster year and I understand Cove it you couldn't have fans and all that, but It didn't create a lot of excitement with style that it played. And They? You know, there is a lot of faith in what they're kneels. And you know, ideally with Carlos Bocanegra. There is a lot of faith in the idea that this organization Khun get Things, right? Certainly the initial group of guys they brought in in that first year, too, were tremendous and they were overwhelming and they did such a great job. But you know the PT and Barco which were supposed to be the next wave off Okay. Worse. We're going to take this team and and not have this drop off and continue. Well, that didn't happen. That didn't happen. And now Petey is gone, and I have to kind of regroup. But they need to get Barco back on track. If if he's going to be here, like all reports and accounts say that he's going to be here, then he's got to get on track. And then he's got to start showing the signs of You know? He's this player that we envisioned that he would be not saying he's gotta be Miguel Amarone. I'm not saying he's gonna be the next years of Martinez, but he's got to be something that is You know that legitimate, complimentary piece toe. What use of Martinez is you want to call him Scottie Pippen or whatever. I don't know. I mean, figure out to figure out a pretty good number, too, But he's got to be in that vein, and he's got to be in that realm. Love it that that's first and foremost where it's gotta start and they've got to tighten up their defence, so they expect to have a manager in place supposedly by the end of the year. And, ah, that's coming. What in about seven weeks, seven or eight weeks is the the end of the year, so it will all come to a head pretty quickly, So we'll get more information on this from Jason Long shirt when we talked to him. At the top of the nine o'clock hour, But when we get back, it will be time for the Falcons fly over. It's awesome news and notes of Anna Falcons, including with Arthur.

"The vehicle, so she needed 19 on the game hit me up at James H. 316. He's at Jarvis, the 90. Get their Falcon flyover coming up in the top of the hour as we'll hear from the head coach as a fact has picked up a win 25 17 last night in Carolina, but Coming off of a disappointing performance on Wednesday against Orlando in a 41 lost couple of matches left, I think, make him write on this. I think there's nine days left in the regular season for MLS. Schedule. But coming up on Sunday, it will be Atlanta United versus FC Cincinnati. Seven o'clock will be your kick time on all of that. And, of course on the call will be Mike. My Connie. And we go out to the wait for dotcom hotline in our buddy Jason. Long short as well. Talk in all things. Lana United. Here. Follow Jason on Twitter. As always, at long shoot Jason. Appreciate it, buddy. How you doing this evening? Doing well, How about you? I am good. Um so and I'm going to kind of preference of this interview. I'm probably going to kind of play contrarian if you will. Um, two somethings because I want to kind of deep dive a little bit into this. First. All I guess. First question is Do you think that Atlanta United has completely lost its its playing personality? Or, you know, it's kind of franchise personality. Forget just because Joseph is not around. Do you think that they've lost their identity and their playing personality? No, I don't. I think they started to regain it. Actually. Now they had a little bit of consistency in the attack. And when you get down the Away at land United going to play and going to build a team. It's going to be based on controlling play attacking being proactive, not reactive. And playing with with speed and fluidity, and we saw that and this is what's crazy about Wednesday and so frustrating about it is you saw that moron Wednesday then you did in the previous two badges. But the result was worse because he gave up some goals against the run of play and you get beaten. You get spanked and Problem at that point and one element that if you want to get into identity that I think was lacking on Wednesday was after you fell behind three nil. There wasn't An anger response. There wasn't somebody coming into, you know, come in with a hard challenge to pick up the yellow card. To show they were angry on the field, and that's something that this team has had in the past. But I think in terms of the general play, you're starting to see it, Maura. Now that you're getting some consistency in the attacking pieces Knowing that Yosef has had injuries in the past this I mean, obviously, this is a little bit different in missing the entire season. But there has been no stretches where, you know, even even in their first year, where he missed the whole bunch of weeks because of that hamstring injury that he got in the In the international play that this roster was it too. Too heavy in relying on use of Martinez and neither not putting enough pieces depth wise around it or developing enough guys around, did did they did? They kind of go into this thing? Relying too much on Yosef? I don't know if you can't really avoid that. You know, it's kind of the same conversation if Matt Ryan gets hurt. You know, like you only have so many different ways to replace Most important player and Joseph is that for this team they needed tohave a mohr. Like for like solution, and that's something that they had in 2017 with Gov. Alba, who didn't perform a Joseph level when he played up top, but he was able to simulate Some of Joseph Game Adam John was brought here to be a change of pace. He was not Ah, Joseph kind of player. He doesn't have that same kind of speedy plays the game in a different way. He didn't really Serve as the right replacement manual. Castro is you Frank Tabor had identified and talked about going into that Orlando tournament. He only got the one game down. There is a starter, which which feels like he didn't have enough time to settle into the role. They just never work out where anybody made that role. Their own like we've seen in the past, but this team will always look a little different when Joseph not in it, because you just don't have unlimited cap space in the minutes that they're around when Joseph healthy He's playing, and it's hard to have a Top number two behind him because he's going to eat up the minutes. Yeah, And I guess Jason, you know, As I said, I'll be a little bit contrarian. Not good in, you know, I look at Atlanta United, and they have the second fewest points of anybody in the In the east, you know right now and you look at their You know, I get some of the gold differential and things like that. Those stats I understand without Yosef, but it feels like you know, the franchise without him, has hit rock bottom and I guess I look at it and say that, um You know if they have the statin baseball cut wins above replacement, right? And basically, that's a snap that tells you Okay, if I have you know if this guy this guy is this many winds above the average guy who plays Mike Trout is 3.5 wins better than anybody in the average player that would play center field for you in baseball. Is Joseph. How many wins is Yosef Martinez then at this point, because it feels like at least as a fan, and you know that's that's what I Congar off of. It just feels like the franchise has kind of hit a real bottom where We go into these matches, and it feels like if the team is pretty is even halfway good that we're playing against, then feel like we always have much of a shot anymore. Yeah, I don't think it's that. I think you see how narrow the margin ists. First goals are critical. I feel like they're even more critical in 2020. I don't know if that's down The Just the craziness of the pandemic with traveling day of with the less rest. I'm not sure what exactly has caused that. But the first goal feels even more vital this season that impasse, Elin's And you're taking for Joseph. I mean, 23 games is a normal season. But let's say 15 goals..

"Figure out OK on this specific date, he's going to be ready to be transferred and we can get this much. You don't know that you have to play it out and the better. He plays, the more valuable he's going to be. So I do think personally that there was some headbutting with Frank de Boer. I think probably a few players had that. But I also think of the same time that some of that may have been okay. He held guys accountable when I let you say that about every franchise in this town. I'm not sure you can always say that about the franchise. It The owner of Atlanta. United also owns Anyway. It wasn't a failure, but it still seems like the end of day. We're going to talk about is being like a square peg in a round hole again. Much like the way Frank Tabor probably wass, and now you use that spot that that international The designated player spot and try to go out and find a guy who could score some goals. Think that's what you got to go for right is You're trying to find that Al Marone type of player Or maybe not even that, because I've got Barker did a nice job of pushing the issue a lot, but somebody maybe we can play on the outside play on the wing and really Put it in the back of the net. Now nobody's going to replicate yourself, and nobody's gonna have those kinds of numbers out there. But somebody who is an offensive minded guy, and that's why I think this whole Who the coach is going to be, and all that kind of stuff is fascinating. Because If you're going to make over some of the roster, and they have, then you better figure out what coach is going to be that you get the right players to go with it. Cause I'm not so sure that they had some of the right players to go with a frank de Boer system. And again I may be wrong and I I may not understand and understand the breakdowns and all that. I can accept all that. I'm telling you from a perception standpoint, and from what my old I see. That's what it looks like. And if at least looks at his perceived like them, then it might as well be truth in a lot of ways. That's why I think that Did they go younger, Older, you grow more wide open again. You know, I think truthfully, you have to try to find a guy that gets you back to top house roots. Think that's what this franchise was set up to be is open in high scoring and things like that. Yeah. You've got to find the players to go along with it. But at the same time, you gotta have your playing personality intact. First. I wonder if maybe with Frank de Boer, that playing personality had been so successful the first couple of years and wonder some of that plane personality went away. Maybe Frank de Boer wasn't willing as willing to How do we say, Bud? Your move on the issue. Maybe a little bit stuck, You know, in his ways of how I want to do it. So it does make you scratch your head a little bit. You know, Time's about why did they not find a guy similar to talk Tom? Things like that kind of bring in into that environment. Just keep the thing rolling. But you know again, that's That's question for people with higher pay grades than then what I have out there, but I just think A lot of unfulfilled promises. What? What Petey Martinez is Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I could say it's a failure. I don't think it was a failure. I don't think it was nothing was bad. I don't think they experiment gone wrong or anything like that. I don't find it to be a failure. Anything like that. I just think that it was unrealized UN realized potential out of them. That had the opportunity to be better, and it just never realized it never bloomed and what it really could be. Other rockets take care of business tonight. Hang on 10 for 102 as they Ah knockoff. Oklahoma City is one Russell Westbrook and James Harden knock off their former team. Now led by Chris Paul, who was on the Rockets and all that. It's a topsy turvy world man. The MBA playoffs, man. It's a It's a topsy turvy. Ah, world out there. So Houston advances. Ah,.

"Your training to play a certain way that way isn't available to you anymore. It's emotionally You know going to affect these players because he's their friend. I think he had good relationships with a number of guys in this team. But also do you then know that hey, a team that we didn't know if they were really going to go out to the market and what they could do because the roster was full on all their designated player sponsor, Fool. That's not going to be the case. It sounds like so now. You start to look over their shoulder a little bit or they're going to replace me. That's disjointed to its joint, but I don't know if that's the right word. It will unsettle you for sure question. Tony Malbin. Thanks to money back passes. Now That's something that comes up a lot in these situations. Here's Here's my my Take on it. I don't have a problem by playing backwards at all. I've never had a problem with that. But you've got to do something. Out of it, and that's what's not happening enough. You want to keep possession. You want to playback because what that does of a team going to sit back. It makes them come out because no team is just going to sit and have eight guys behind the ball standing on the edge of their 18. 90 minutes. They're going to get bored. They're gonna want to go chase something. So you give him something Chase you playback. It's It's like casting of fishing line and saying, Come on, get it. Come and get it. Come and get it. But once they come out, you've got to play fast going the other way. You've got to get numbers forward and take chances going the other way. That's not happening enough. Jeff Plucker points to a common made by stew holding on the television broadcast that Jurgen DM may have missed inopportune or the team at least missed an opportunity. Get your hand down on fresh legs running against bent sweat on tired legs. Jurgen Dom's got to make those runs as well, and that's something that it doesn't look like he's comfortable doing yet. If you just play a ball without the run, and you just hoof a ball into the corner and hope that Jurgen Dom's going to get there to it. I mean, you're you're playing like you 12 tactics. He's got to make the runs to get in behind, and I don't think he's comfortable that with that yet physically, he looks a little reluctant To really let go with pace. He's got to get to that point where he feels comfortable that he can make a full sprint and be okay. Trombone. Steve was glad for the draw because he thought the deed of a good job on this one clean sheets are the way to find points. Yes, trombone, Steve. Thank you. Absolutely right. 100%. Hey says I feel we haven't been able to get on the front foot because we don't know who we want to be. Is a team certainly due to changes I disagree, and that the team doesn't know who they want to be. I don't know how they get there yet. I don't know. I think that's the thing they don't know is how to get there. They want to be a team that plays fast. They want to be a team that plays with pace. You want to be a team that's confident the final third You can't just want to be that you have to to do the work. Tio get there. You have to trust the players around you and when those faces change consistently, whether it's tired legs Whether it's the situation with pity today, you know, it's it's hard to develop trust in the players around you when they're not the same player in the next match. I think we're seeing that at times. Uh, what's C b tranq? And this is something I I saw from a mls soccer dot com writer on Twitter earlier today. I just totally disagree with it. How big of a signing of a desert near the player can you make when the coach is temporary? That's a tricky thing. I think in a club that the manager completely and utterly says this is how I'm going to play. I don't care what the team has played before. I'm in charge. I'm setting the way we play. Then I would agree with that because you don't know how how the team's going to play. Here. You're going to hire a manager who is going to play in the style that we have seen at this club and this is something I pushed back on a lot over the last year and a half and I will continue to do it because I don't think where Frank Tabor wanted this team to be, was all that different than where Dr Martino wanted it to be. Did they have different takes on things? Absolutely. But they had a lot more in common than people give them credit, too, that they did. Frank didn't have it at his high of a level consistently as data did at times, and you wanted to be there, and that's why you've made a change. And that's why you are where you are. But you're not all of a sudden going to become a defensive team. You're not all of a sudden going to be a team that plays a five for one. You're not all a sudden become a going to become a team that You know, just presses and doesn't want the ball. You those things are gonna happen. So you're going to be looking at players that bit the way you want to be. Atlanta United as a brand has shown that it can attract talent. It's shown that it can develop talent, and it's shown that it can sell town That's going to be appealing for people without a manager. You can still do that. If you have a manager in place. Can it be easier? Sure it can. If that manager builds that relationship with that player during the recruitment process, which doesn't happen all that often to be perfectly honest, I don't know exactly right. Okay. Thank you for your comments, and your questions on Twitter will do it all over again Saturday night after Atlanta United plays Orlando down of exploring a stadium. We'll have a quick preview of that match when we come back right after this is Atlanta.

"No. Adams makes the run that Johnny's a defensive midfielder. He didn't have to make that run. He does to keep the play going. Bobo's balls a little heavy for from Adam's, but you're right. He has the composure to make control it get its head up, not force a shot from that angle, but see that pity has made a About 35 40 yard run to get himself into position. And when you're top guy on the night and in the team right now makes that run. You rewarded and you lay that off and Mo Waited to pass perfectly. He waited it out mytime perspective. But then he puts the proper weight behind the path. He didn't eat it too hard, so 50 Martinez can run on and just unleashed. A left footed rocket. One of the best goals I've seen from Atlanta United They said, long short, joining us here in the wait for dotcom Hotline course color and this for all things that land united here on 99 the game. He and Mike my Connie will have the call Coming up. Wednesday's Eleni United continues back in other MLS action. I tweeted this out on Saturday and maybe fair, unfair. I don't care. You know, I'm gonna be taking with with what I've got, but I don't think it's coincidence that Petey Martinez played like an £800 elephant had been lifted off his shoulders. Is that fair or unfair? Um It's fair, but I'll give you a different reason than the obvious because you know, everybody has said Oh, you know, this is the break up bounce back right? Because Frank Tabor is gone. 50 Martinez is free. He plays the game. He wants to play as a game. He did. I think also, and it's something that 50 talked about coming into this. The players feel pressure after that change as well, because you see it in any sport when you have a change at the coach at the manager position. Every coach. Every manager has guys that air there, guys. They have guys that they favor. They have guys that if they get a job somewhere, they're going to want to bring them and they're going to make a trade. They're goingto make it signing and they're going to come into a situation and guys who admitted previously valued by the previous manager. Might not be looking at the same by the new guy, so everybody's got Different expectations. You're all playing not directly for your jobs right then. But long term you are because you're trying to impress and pity felt that pressure and he's been in a situation before. He's been in these kinds of big moment in his career, and he Left up to the challenge in a big way. Face in the last thing for years. We get ready for action on on Wednesday night. You know these thes quick turnarounds and things were gonna happen, You know, And I mean, you know how. How confident are we about the depth of Atlanta United right now, obviously more guys tours and others. You know, brought in, but you know it's going to be a lot of lot of, you know, kind of wear and tear on these rosters because you know, all teams are going to go through this where there's gonna be some quick turnarounds all through this, you know, all through this season to get these games in this season. You've got five subs which will help you and you're probably gonna have to use them all on Wednesday. Lainey and I got some really bad news from the disciplinary committee tonight. A couple hours ago, they announced that they are retroactively. To spending Franco Escobar or the match on Wedneday. The disciplinary committee Wass activated because the professional referees organization said that had uncle the referee. And Crispin's of the V R. Missed what should have been a red card When Franco Escobar in the 38 minute kick, Dominic bodies legs out from under him. They must have missed when body went chest the chest with Escobar trying to initiate a fight afterwards, and he wasn't punished. But anyway That play continued on was really poorly handled by Ted, uncle and now out of nowhere because nobody talked about it after the match. Nobody complained for national perspective after the match. Now, Atlanta's even more down on Wednesday because you're missing Escobar. You're probably missing Fernando made after his knee injury. Backlines where you're going to have problems on Wednesday. It would not surprise me if Jeff Larentowicz gets the start, and that's when I saw him for just a couple of minutes. Get that veteran leadership on this back line on the road against the team in Miami that had a big win over Orlando on the weekend. I'll have the call along with Mike and Mike County. Ah, Miami and landing and that'll be an interesting match up their first chance to get to see this new Miami club Jason Longer join us here on the way for dotcom Hotline color analyst for All things Land united here on them into nine the game. All the action right here on sports right now in the game with a Jason luxury Mike and Mike County. I will be doing the broadcasting of the game. Obviously the Frank Tabor era, you know, mixed results that had come to an end. During this time after The MLS bubble tournament Analysts back tournament kind of went sideways. With that as it Lenny. Not it goes to look for their new manager. So a couple of guys on ESPN, where on their soccer coverage we're on. Of course they were doing the zoom call with all of it. They had one of their experts on about the MLS talkingabout the Atlanta United situation, and the question that was asked is, you know Atlanta United had so much success with top Martino? Why did they decide to go the European route, which they said they wanted to go? Here's what ESPN analysts had to set about that said about that decision, and This club going forward. There's a bunch of teams in MLS look at Atlanta United and the way that they have risen to the success and the levels in which the expectations and so very high and the things that they have done, and all those clothes would hope would love. We just In any way possible. We would like to trade places with united, and instead, Atlanta United is trying to change things there. The team that is no this work for us, but we're going a totally different direction. And when the personality of the team Dawson match that direction that you want going to when two thirds of your team are South American players that happen, sir. A certain culture in a certain way of dealing with each other in a certain communication and and a certain level of comfort. And then you say no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Uh, we're going to go European Well, that could work. I guess. Long term if you are planning to reshape your team, But when you've had something that worked to the point where you have been so successful to the point where you have won the temperature, the ultimate going this leak. Then why would you try to change it so dramatically? So lots that break down there. First off the beginning of that quote. He's right. Atlanta United has become the model franchise in MLS for how you want to operate as a club, whether your Miami coming in Nashville, Cincinnati, You know the new The new teams that are coming in No matter who you are. The Atlanta United model is the one that everybody is looking to. Now. Not everybody's gonna build the way it landing that it has because Letting that has a great stadium. They have a owner. That's got a lot of money that's willing to put a lot of money into it. You know, they have a front office that has not been Held back at all from doing what it has to do to make this the best team in an MLS. To the point of Frank Borman. And I know some of our insiders have disagreed when I've when I've asked that this way. The more that I hear from some people. It really does feel more and more like this was always going to be a square peg in a round hole for Atlanta United You know, obviously tots of Martino in the style and I go back to something that Beau Bock always talks about. Bo always talks about 18, and they're playing personality. And it's hard to identify that sometimes, and if you're a team that doesn't have a playing personality could be very difficult to win and build through all of that well. We know in those first couple of years exactly what the playing personality of Atlanta United was citing wide open. Let's get after this, then the other and I understand things change, as we say in sports. Ah Miguel Amarone moves on. You have changes in your roster. But still when you look at what Frank Tabor was known for, and how How he coached and things like that. It does seem like a very strange selection. In hindsight, nonsense. Always 2020 now doesn't mean they didn't have some success. Okay? Doesn't mean he's not a doesn't mean he's not a good manager doesn't mean he's a good manager. A bad manager came But you can also succeed when you have a lot more talent than a lot of other teams. You can also succeed when your talent overwhelms people, and I think that there are many times when Atlanta United talent overwhelms people. And the environment and playing at home overwhelms people. So you can.

"I don't want to hear any excuses because if you're going to get rid of the guy and look You know, in our buddy, You know we love him The death Mike Mike County fucked about how Frank Devore's 12 trophies and almost one another one while he's been here. Yes, that's true. But as I explained earlier tonight, with all due respect, I'm saying, with all due respect, okay? I've got some black and gray Hanes underwear. That is older and more prestigious than they can't be honest Cup right now, okay? That's got more good times and fun times and success in it, then the camp Fiona's Cup does right now, okay? Not a slight. That's a fact. I mean, sorry. I mean that, you know, so can't be on this cut us open with you. You know, certainly, Eastern Conference finals. I'm with you, okay? But even with the Camp Joonas Cup that's still more than any dancer in the last couple of years in leading this team. And until it bottomed out completely. As I've said before, but, you know, look People don't like to hear these kinds of things. I get the Super Bowl and how wonderful was but you also blew it. But you know, dance had 35 game losing streaks in five years. How many successful franchises with their coach go through that? Especially when you look at the group of guys they have here. The Matt Ryan's and Julio Jones and things like that. You shouldn't have a situation where your team is held. You know, it's hard to lose five straight games, the NFL Even the bad teams have a hard time losing five straight games. NFL Why? Because you're bound to run into somebody that's worse than you. Especially if you're a talented team. So look. I said before you want to keep Dan the set another and preach continuity. But don't tell me that there's that same message about landing on like you said. I'm not Madeleine United for what they had to do. I think if you put the wonder woman Lasso of truth around Darren and Carlos Bocanegra, they'd say, Hey, we don't think this franchise going the right direction. We've got to make a change, okay? Cause I don't think right now you won't convince me that the franchise of the land factors have been going in the right direction for at least a year and 1/2. Is going the right direction. Now we'll find out Was this team more than six and two team that we saw in the year or they, Maura the one in 17 that we saw the beginning of the year. I don't know. See that's the problem. And people said, Well, you know, he Dan had lost the players. Okay, So my question is then which one those two guys, you think they're held their players Mohr accountable. Which one was two guys, You think when the crap hits the fan holds the guy's more cannibal Frank Tabor for Dan Quinn. So Dan stays because he's got the better bumper slogans. Do you write longer? Hunger Games index. Iron sharpens iron. Embrace the suck. Right. The bear's loose. Okay? Like I said. You know? No excuses. Better be a play off team, and if it's not, I don't want to hear about continuity anymore. They certainly didn't do it with the other franchise. Continuity certainly wasn't top of mind in front of center on the decision that they made today. Even with not having your best player even with a pandemic going on, even with Not being able to play any games and get adjusted to light for that your best player. "Oh, it's just a unhealthy and It's not like I wouldn't save injury prone because it feels like it's different things every time I mean last year, it was just the fact that he was kicked off the field in Columbus on he struggled to recover because of the kicks to his knee. Things like that. There's there's just not much you can do. It's just Marco. It's consistently playing for pity. I think he's always going to be compared to Miguel Marone in this town. And also Jason is part of it. And, you know, fair, unfair. It's not like both of those guys were playing here for fish heads and rice. You know, they have a lot of money tied up in those guys. And you know we get you know we talk, you know last year, but The stories about you know all this, you 18 league and they're going to, really They're gonna grab Barco and he may not be here much longer, and the perception has been like, okay. We know that these two guys were coming in for stepping stones because They're good enough that hopefully they're going to get on the world stage and things like that. I don't know. I mean, it just feels like I'm waiting for that next guy After Miguel after Yosef, not that uses going away, But just when you don't have him, okay, Who's going to be that guy that says OK, I'm going to be the star who's going to be that. Break out member of the tag team, you know of the heart foundation that's going to say I'm going to be the next superstar and lead this team. They're in different situations to me, and I think this is where looking at price tags in the world of software can be a little tricky, and it's come up with the rumors about Eric Lopez at a Paraguay, for example. I think people have heard the price tag around Lopez, and they expected to come in and and be a starter. Day one. And meanwhile, he's an 18 year old who's played 16 professional games. You're paying that price tag for potential and also for potential sale down the road. Barco 100% was that his purchase price was not just about his production here, but it was also about what you can sell him for when that time comes, and that was always the plan for an Ezekiel Barco. This was the shop window to get him to a bigger club in Europe 50 Martinez a little bit different, little bit older and his club River plate that he was at previously needed to make the sale they needed to bring in money. They did that with 50 and I think he has a different set of expectations. I don't think he's been nearly as far off from delivering as others do, and I think sometimes he just suffers from that compares. Because he's a very different player than Miguel Marone. I think maybe more importantly, he's a very different personality than Miguel Alma Room. Jason, You know, I'm not somebody that was going to get panicked over a couple of games in in a long season, But I do think that when you look at this match coming up with Columbus in the sense that Really Atlanta and that it has nothing to lose. I mean, I know they need points instead together, but okay, we got a long way to go. They're not going to win this tournament. They're probably out. You know after this match, but You know if they go out there and lay an egg? Um then, is it time to start to ask from you? No question about Wait a second, you know? Okay, not playing together or not Having your star is one thing, but you got nothing to lose against Columbus. You know, you go out there and you fight and you kicked and scratch and claw and it doesn't work out. That's one thing but You go out Lay an egg or something. You know, against a good team. Then I wonder if maybe that some people don't start say okay, but there's gotta be something more going on than just Hey, we're not playing together enough. And we haven't. We don't have Yosef on the field. 100%. I'm absolutely with you on that. I've seen some talk that The team didn't play with with enough passion today, and I think that Incorrect. I think it's completely and utterly incorrect because again you're playing with 10 men from the 26th minute on, you know, I mean, the that's that's the reality. You could like the call. You cannot like the call. That's the reality. That's what affected this match. You're also doing that in the heat and humidity that that makes it difficult to play the Mass. 11 V 11 let alone 10 V 11. If you come out after these two results and don't have a response That response can be improved Play that response can be scrappiness. That response. Khun B. Getting stuck into some tackles. That response could be a lot of different things, but it has to be a strong performance on Tuesday. I'm with you there, because if it's not Then you start to question confident. Then you start to question what this team looks like when the regular season resumes. Yeah. And I'll leave you with this and only probably 30 seconds for an answer. But my only nit pick and I said this couple segments ago just I don't know Some of the stuff, Frank Tabor said after the match. And you know here in about we had to have breakfast at six o'clock, and I'm never necessarily done that. And and you know, playing this early in the morning. I don't know. I guess isn't Lana United fan? I don't really want to hear that. You know, I mean, we're supposed to be the big bad bullies on the block, and I don't want to hear about six. Breakfast is and we had to play in the morning and stuff You want to be like I just If there's one kind of knit pick critique, I guess for me. It's some of those comments after the match today that I heard from him. I think it's harder for a team like Atlanta in the way that they play where rhythm and combination playing chemistry is so vital things that throw that off like an early game like you just season. Disruptions to the routine like not getting games, and before you get in the tournament, those things they're going to affect in Atlanta more than a team like Cincinnati, who comes into this match with 10 guys behind the ball, fit back. Look for a counter occasionally and just try not to. To get hurt in the match and easier to play that in these conditions for Atlanta, the conditions everything around. It does have a big, bigger effect. Follow him on Twitter at launch you, by the way, it was funny watching. I read a few tweets from some of the guys who cover Cincinnati. "It was a wonderful path from Kaku to feed fellow who scored brilliantly, so it's something to get right communications gonna have to be key and again familiarity with this group. I'm getting back to training as a group. If they're allowed to do so, That's That's obviously gonna be massive. Kevin Final thing for you. You know, you said it wasn't necessarily a must win, but they had to, certainly, you know, put together a pretty solid performance. What would have lost the Cincinnati You know, kind of. You know what with the perception you think of this team change after something like that. I mean, You know, obviously, we got a long way to go and we're gonna play for quite a while in there, but certainly I think we easily and United fans have gotten scold about the idea of we just roll the ball out there and we're going to score goals and we're going to beat up on everybody. You know how important though, does this matchup against Cincinnati become Yeah, I think it's cute. I really do. It's a test of character for the team against the side that's absolutely wounded. Cincinnati were hammered by Columbus in an Ohio rivalry. Hell, Israel they call it It wasn't even close on DH yaps. Tom is Cincinnati coach now a legendary player from his time with a daughter national team, and Frank Tabor will know very well. He's a legend with Manchester United. He had A career similar to Frank the ball, and now he comes in as a coach. He's got an awful lot to figure out John because they looked all over the shop in midfield. They play guys called Harassment Union who's a wonderfully talented player. And who's a magician on the ball, But defensively, he needs runners around him. They don't have that in the young and in a Maya by the side of him that they didn't click on DH. I certainly talk Columbus expose that area. Columbus have a fella called Bagby that we all know well, who was pulling the strings for them? So Cincinnati have problems. They have a lot more problems than Atlanta United. And now they've got the five strikes the 18 champions coming at them on Thursday fast, So the best thing is Putting on something you said earlier is to get out Cincinnati early, like deflate them early and try and get on the board as quickly as you can. And maybe that's why I see a barcode in from the get go because he's so tenacious when he presses He'd love to get on the ball and do everything at pace, eh? So I wouldn't be surprised to see him start. But if Atlanta know to get a goal early dislocates could open and this could be a beautiful score line in the end, But if it remains tight, like you said, Well, then we have a tank all squeaky bum time where you start to get a little bit and you don't know how things are going to play out toward the end, but either way It is massive because you lose this game on. I think it's like a 99% chance you're heading home early. Follow him on Twitter. It's at Kev underscore Egon, by the way to Kevin has a new podcast. The 90 So you know, we're watching. Ah, Landa United. And of course, you know there's there's certainly going to be some You know, transition from what we were used to. Teo. You know what this team mayor may not be mean. Obviously, without Yosef. It feels like okay, maybe we're another year away from winning another MLS cop, and certainly the Braves are going to be one of the favorites in the National League. We talked about last week. The last Friday. Actually, when the MLB win totals came out of the two kind of main simulated sites, and they still had the Braves, you know, second In one and I think it was. What did I say? I think they're the fourth. Most wins Umm in another from there. You know, pressure on the fact is this year, People think that Dan, You know if you didn't make the playoffs could be fired on and then you know, obviously the Hawks are in transition, so You have asked this question before, but given given the state of where we're at, with Atlanta sports, and given kind of some of the transition, and obviously the flux of what is happening with you. Covert 19 everything surrounding it? If I said rank the professional coaches, so that's coach Pierce for the Hawks. Dan for the Falcons snicker for the Braves and Frank Tabor for Lainey United by said rank them by Who's going to get this town its next championship. First What would the order of that B? Um I think for me. I think it's Frank Tabor one. Um, I think it's Dan too. I think it's snifter three. And I think it's coach Pierce for now, Why do I feel that when one is, I think Frank Tabor is going to get all the re sources and support in players that he needs. To go win another championship. I think And I'm not saying the other organizations won't do that. Braves to some degree, maybe Won't spend like you need to spend times to get you know and make the moves necessary. But I do feel like with Bocanegra and with their kneels, and with Arthur Blank. They're willing to roll the dice on guys and do what they have to do. Whether it's Barco whether it's Petey. Whether it's making trades, whether it's signing guys, you know extensions. I mean, whatever they know, given Yosef a bunch of money and extension, whatever they feel like they have to do to make this not just a competitive team. But a championship caliber team. I think they will do that. I think I think that they will allocate the resource is for Does that make Frank de Boer a great coach? I don't know. I think the jury's you know out on that. I think this will be an interesting season. Just to see how this team responds to all of the adversity right? Because there's a lot of adversity. It's the pandemic its Yosef, right. I mean, it's all all these things about, you know, a A, You know, a start and a stop at the start, you know to the season all the things in the adversity that's facing all major league sports teams. But You know, how does it land United response, then still lots of talent on the field, and they still have made a lot of investment in this team, so I'll take Frank one with it. Dan, I say, too, because They've got the personnel. They really do They have the personnel in my mind. They have the personnel for what it takes to put together a championship team. You know? At times. The fact is, we're gonna have to win. Despite The Sunday Lack of Sunday competitive advantage that you get. So I say all the time. I think Dan gives you an advantage, you know, and it doesn't. It doesn't look good at times to Monday through Saturday. My question is on Sunday. How does it go in history says Ah. Not always good. They have some of the best players in the history of the franchise. And I keep saying to myself that this will come together and this will culminate when they were so close just a few years ago that why can't they? There's nothing that says they can't get back to what they did. Just a few years ago. But they're not. They're not worse. Personnel wise, then they were a few years ago. Go look at the roster. Then go look at the roster now. You'd only have some of the same guys. But yet I mean, Grady and Deebo are both better players today than they were on that Super Bowl team. Man, Julio..

"But you have had very limited time training under him, so we don't really know what to expect at a Cincinnati you're going to county is not playing tonight. It sounds like it's kind of a day to day thing for him. I would feel good if I knew that we did not have to see your gun like Adia. On Thursday for since Dad feel better about that match of if he did not. It didn't sound good for his likely inclusion for that one, either. It was sounding like a couple of weeks about a week and 1/2 ago, so If he's available for Thursday. I would not expect him to be available to start. I don't think his fitness will be where it needs to be. All right. One more from Abby, Schiffman and Abby. Good to hear from me. I hope your son's doing well. She wants to know what you think about the corners in the last part of the match, and should someone other than pity have been taking them. I like when Marco takes takes corners. I think Barca's delivery is a little bit better. I thought pities was good, though. I don't not really looking back at any. Bad corners that were wasted. I think Atlanta did Okay with those I prefer Barco set piece delivery from free kicks and from corners because I think it's a little more precise, but pity had a big night and that's part of it. Because, you know we've seen this. We've had these conversations over the years. Whether you go back to the thoughts of Martino years or Frank Tabor, where You know the the players figure those moments out where then it's a penalty or if it's a free kick or if it's a corner. You kind of go with the hot hand and pity. Had a good night. I mean pity had four chances created. He had 33 shots, two on goal, but he was pretty precise. I was okay with his performance overall. And if If he was fresh, and he was the guy that Barco deferred to, then you know, he's the one who's deliver in that corner. I thought it was okay. But I think again. I mean, if you're talking about individuals, I am Very optimistic about what I saw from 50 Martinez tonight. I am very optimistic about what I saw in 30 minutes from barking. I am extremely optimistic about what I saw from George Bellow tonight. That's something that's probably going to get lost in the mix of everything, especially because He hit the crossbar in the first half. Remember, this was George's first appearance with the first team since February of 2019 down in Costa Rica. It's been a long time. Yeah. Good number games with Atlanta United to and he played for the U S. You seventeen's in the World Cup. It was good to see him. I think raises game in this one tonight and he had some good defensive plays in the second half. George Bellow show that he is a starter in this league. I thought Brooks Lenin had a good night on the other wing back position. It can get better, and this is a decent platform to start from. It didn't feel like a match that you're normally going to see a loss in It felt like the performance was good enough to get a result, but the Red Bulls were sharper at the beginning. Sometimes that's all it takes. In fact, it is reminiscent and there are parallels because it was the first match of the season in 2019. There are elements that reminded me of what happened at Air Deano last year where you got offered very, very early. You were better after that, but it was just too much to overcome. And I know one goal shouldn't seem like too much, but Against the team like Red Bulls. As we have seen time after time they really make you earn it. Okay, We're going to take one final break. "Of Thea's taka in Mexico City, where they lost three nil to Club America, but Atlanta United to Ono in league play, leaving the Eastern Conference. In fact, the onliest In conference team with six points In their 1st 2 matches. They will play in grouping against New York, Red Bulls, FC Cincinnati and Columbus crew. And first up will be that Red Bulls match on July 11th. I say this somewhat tongue in cheek, but I mean, and at the same time, I did not want to play the Red Bulls first. If I had a choice, I would have rather played them Third. Maybe the heat and humidity takes a little bit of energy out of that pressing style. That the Red Bulls have always played with, but not to be. But here now an opportunity for Atlanta United facing rebels on a neutral field for the first time in the competitive match to maybe slay these demons in the regular scenes in the Atlanta United has had against the Red Bulls. Red Bulls are really stuck in a tough spot here because Chris Armas knows that they have to develop. A little bit more variety and their game plan. But this is the first time that the Red Bulls come into a season without Bradley Wright Philips Without Louise Roe bliss with number of changes and You have to do what you do best in this kind of format. You know, it's not like you're you're getting months of the season to prepare for this game with Atlanta United that he had circled on your calendar when the schedule came out. You don't get that you're coming into Ah, tournament where the best thing you can do is be disruptive is to be who the Red Bulls have been now. One big noticeable changes what we saw in the 1st 2 games this season. Where they play the 4 to 2 to its what you've seen traditionally out of the Red Bulls teams in Salzburg and in Leipzig. It's what they want to do across the board, and they haven't really had the right players to do. It didn't suit Bradley Wright Philips, and when Bradley Wright Philips scored the goals that he did for the Red Bulls, you've created a style to suit him. Ryan White is a little more malleable. The questions they're going, Toby, can you get out wide on this Red Bulls team and I think it laying the united Can. You know? We've seen them so far this season in there, 343 be able to exploit the width. And use Brooks linen to get wide down the right side. I think George Bellow is going to be healthy here, but Jake Morini shown that he can get loose down the left side as well. And we know from day one with this team that Atlanta United can hit that big switch and change the point of attack. The rebels are a very narrow team. You have to know that they're going to come in and probably up the tempo in Game one. That's going to be the game that they have circled, put forward their best effort. But Atlanta knows what's coming and I think they can take advantage of some of these new faces on the Red Bulls Well, and A lot has been made of Atlanta United all time Syria's history against Red Bulls, but let's look back at the last four competitive matches. Okay, the three nil win in the first leg of the Eastern Conference playoffs in 2018. You lose one yellow Red Bull arena, which is as good as a win. You're playing basically to get out of there without giving up a goal in 90 minutes, So you're fine with that, even though it's scored as a loss. And then last year under Frank Tabor, you really should have one in July. You have the 33 to Robert. He gave up the very legal to Bradley Wright Philips Great game, probably one of the best games of the year in the league with one nil loss against 10 10 man Red Bull last year in May, I think is one that really, really sticks in the craw of a lot of Italy, the United supporters, but Honestly going down to 10 men was probably the best thing that could have happened Red Bulls that day because it made the approach to the remainder of that match. Extremely straightforward. Tom Barlow hits him on the counter, and that's it. They can lock down the match the rest of the way. Yeah, they were better when they went down to 10 men because They were trying to do maybe too much for that team before that, and that's a question about this one. I went back and watched the match against rail Salt Lake the second match of the season for the Red Bulls, and it was a match where you expected are seldom have the possession. But you didn't expect them to have over 20 shots, and the Red Bulls on Ly have a couple of clear cut chances. Finishing the 11 draw. It was one of those games where you have two shots cleared off the line by the Red Bulls. They did really well I am rhetorical was outstanding in that match in place of Aaron Long. It's just there's still questions about who the Red Bulls are right now. Are they trying to be something different? Can they do that? You know, on a quick turnaround in this tournament format after you know, weird preseason for them where you played a couple of games, you go home. You sit for a while, They didn't get backto action really early in the process in terms of training. What are they going to do in this tournament? I think they have to lean into who they've been, because that's what how these players have been trained. It's the style that can give them the best results in this tournament. I just don't know if they have the talent to necessarily make that work anymore. These two teams have seen each other this calendar year for what it's worth. A preseason fixture down and I am G in late January, Atlanta United one that picture to one Red Bulls. That was one of the very rare goals that Atlanta United even gave up in the preseason, and it came off a pressing moment. Not a lot of give you a player to watch, though, for the Red Bulls, and it's a player in some of those moments when they turned the ball over in the press, and it's somebody that you might not know too much about Florian below. He is a player who has had awful luck with knee injuries. He's torn the A C L on both knees in the last two years, but he looked sharp early this season. Good play maker and below and Daniel Royer two very tricky players, and they don't need a whole lot of the ball. They don't need a whole lot of space to hurt you. If the Red Bulls can cause those turnovers below, and Roy were hitting on the brake can be dangerous when the drawl when we're watching the draw on June 12th I? I know this sounds crazy. The one team I really did not want to see was Cincinnati. And the only reason why I say that is For whatever reason, Cincinnati has played Atlanta United Very tough. They only have one point to show for it and three matches, but they've played Atlanta United. Very, very tough. And one of those games was earlier this year. The last Emma last match Atlanta United played when they got a goal from Yuya Cube. Oh, after going down to nil in Atlanta, United had to work very, very hard to see that match out. Mercedes Benz Stadium in front of 69,000 fans and win 21 Hyneman embark O score the goals for Atlanta United. So we've seen Atlanta United approach Cincinnati without Jos Martinez, which is something they're gonna have to do again in a non AM match on June 16th but boy I love your gun like aria, and he now is fully healthy. Remember he was working his way into fitness when Atlanta United saw him the first time, but they've also made a managerial change since Atlanta United played them in March. And with the managerial change here comes some Dutch players into the mix now for Cincinnati as well. Yeah, yeah, Tom takes over. This will be a second game when they face Atlanta United No changes to the way that they play. The team was built to play in an adult style was the right higher because you bring in. Somebody who can take over was already in motion. Look audio. You keep him for another year. There were some concerns because his loan was originally only through the end of June. That's been extended. You add CMD Jeong, Another talented player, Frank board does know pretty well. The player that we didn't see in that second match of the season. That really impressed me. In week one against the Red Bulls was Adrienne Reggaeton. Reggaeton was just all energy and really difficult for the Red Bulls to deal with. When you look at the Cincinnati attack, and look audio came in late, so he wasn't at his best..

"We head out to the wait for Dotcom hotline. You can hear her as one of the co host of the MLS call a podcast. Of course you can see here. She's one of the hosts and sideline reporters for Atlanta United on Fox Sports South Gillian Sack of its joins us here on the wait for Dotcom hotline. So first Gillian, Belated birthday wishes to you number to appreciate you being on the show with US and Three. Give everybody an update as to how you're feeling course you were diagnosed with the covert 19. So tell us how how you're feeling has the recovery bin and hopefully you are well. Oh, you're so sweet. Always good to talk to you. Especially hanging on a Friday night night before Ah, lead the United kicks back off. So thank you for having me and I am really well. It's been a few months now. It's just really feeling like myself again. Feeling good and thank you for asking. Well, certainly, tomorrow night will be lots of fun. You know, Gillian, I said, you know what's what's really nice. I think for fans tomorrow night is in here in Atlanta. Let's let's focus on the Atlanta part of it is just affected. We've had an ass car in Gulf and things like that back and those air kind of, you know, individual things. But now we finally get one of our teams. You know what Now we finally get a team and I think you know, I don't I would bet that the viewership of Atlanta for this thing tomorrow night is going to be really some staggering numbers because I think as a community, we're ready to get back and And have somebody collectively that we can root for new back and that, And that's exactly it for Atlanta for the city of Atlanta. This will be the first team sport to return. It's so exciting, and I mean Just look at the time. I thought that it got eight dot It's not on this one. It is on Big Fox. It is prime time. It's Saturday night. You know, I think the league and the broadcast partners when they looked at Two week one was goingto have you know you want to have Atlanta United as that prime time spot? They really couldn't have gotten a better slot. You know to be the heat in Orlando. These games are at Early early morning, 9 a.m. And then they are late night, eight o'clock in 10 o'clock at night. So just look at Atlanta's times thought, u know getting that eight PM slot on a Saturday night? The ratings are going to be great, and I know like I'm getting ready for it as if I'm broadcasting the game, and I'm not. I can't wait. Gillian. It's good. It's a different look at man United. And of course, when we last left Adelante united they were, of course, breaking in several new pieces. But then Jos Martinez, of course. Ah is out. How do you think? How do you think it land? United is approaching a tournament like this? I mean, yeah, Everybody wants to win the thing, but there are bigger fish to fry at the end of the day. I mean, in trying to get this team together. How do you think the How do you think Frank Tabor and this organization is approaching what they want to get accomplished out of this thing. Two things. I really think that land. United fans should feel very good about there are 14 in this tournament that air heading into it. That have also all six points. On. Only one of them is Atlanta United. This is the first year that Atlanta United won their 1st 2 games off the season on, You know, they had to do it in Game two without Jos Martinez. Now look, I've talked to a lot of people about this. You can't overlook the power Joseph Martinez, but LF she is without Carlos Vela, so the last two we M V P s are not playing in this tournament. Minnesota United without the Raining defender of the year In Michael part, there are some headlining big names that are missing this tournament, but that I think open up a fantastic opportunity for like a pity Martinez to kind of become the star of this tournament because he was asked about that. Yesterday. And he said, You know, I'm not. I'm not here to be a star in the league on that year to be a star in the tournament. I'm here to be a star teenage and, of course, that's a fantastic answer, and that's what you want to hear. But I think that there is a real opportunity here for Atlanta United To make a heck of a statement with with some of their newer guys or maybe guys, we haven't seen their potential yet on DH. Then you look at their manager and Frank DeBoer. This is a World Cup. Dialled format and you mentioned the format area Henry coaches, a Montreal impact played in the World Cup. I think the managers and players that have had to play in this type of format A huge and you've got Frank de Boer, who who had two plain two of them. Gillian Sack of its joins us here in the wait for Dotcom Hotline course in landing at it host for Fox Sports South of co host of the MLS call a podcast. I'm glad you brought up Pete Martinez, because great minds think alike here, Gillian. We were talking about this the other night and the fact that You know, if you look at the year to you look at Yosef Martinez from Year one a year too, and the jump in goals. If you look at Carlos Villa in the year, once a year to jump in goals now, I'm not saying pity Martinez is going to suddenly be a 38 or 40 goal score. But I really do think that I think one of the Ah, underrated parts of PT Martinez is just really how much transition and flux his entire life was thrown into. Coming to a new country, new team New League new coach. You know everything, and he's still a very young man. I mean, trust me. I'd love to be that young again in life, but I do think now that he's had a full year to do this. I do think that there is a very good opportunity for him to really Take the mantle of being that dominant goal score for this team and really make that second year jump like we've seen some of these top guys in MLS do And Marco would be another prime example of that..

"But just they need that offensive force to come back and and find a way to, you know. Give them somebody consistently on offense, You know? Will they be a good defensive team? Will they play good goaltending? Yeah, Of course we don't expect there. But this is not a team that's always been built. And designed to be a one to nothing type of team. That's not the M O, you know, and that's what frustrated fans so much is. You know, it felt like they were trying to be an organization that times that felt like they weren't pushing the issue enough. They weren't Going at it. The enough there wasn't enough. You no sense of urgency at times, you know, with their offense. We gotten so custom and usedto. The idea of Yosef in Miguel and pushing the part are pushing the ball. Up the field and making big plays and things like that that you know, maybe we got spoiled, you know? Bye bye. All of it, you know? And this team at times, you see that they still have some of that, you know, flair and listen, there were guys last year that you know, called out Frank Tabor, for you know the way that that you know the system was running and things like that so They need that guy to step in. They need that guy to beat that star. I think that needs to be PT Martinez and he certainly has all the capabilities and he certainly has all the Tangibles that that you would like. And you hope that much like Carlos Villa, much like Miguel are sorry much like Jos Martinez that that goal scoring Khun take that leap. Like I said, I'm not expecting him to go from seven goals, the 38 goals or 40 goals. You know, one is they probably not going play long enough season. No for that. Who is you know those air those incredible numbers and don't forget, you know, you know, Villa and Yosef. You know those guys were, you know 14 15 17 that I forget what he owes his first number. What? His number was in in your number one, but those guys were those guys were double digit gold guys in there. In their first year. And Petey had seven goals. I mean, somethinto sneeze at and obviously playing second fiddle offensively to what use of Martinez is, you know out there, but now he doesn't have that. Now, this is a chance for him to grab ahold of this team offensively and to lead this team offensively and be that guy. Be that guy that that Khun fill the role of Yosef. Is anybody going to fill his shoes? No, of course not. You know 40. Goalscorers. Don't just grow on trees. But he should be a guy that can you know He needs to be that guy that this team can count on. You know, he needs to be that guy. You know, That's the great thing about Yosef. You know when, when? In danger. Break glass. That was Yosef Yosef Was that guy that when you needed something, you could break the glass. You could turn to him. They could always deliver for you. You know you want to have that guy that you feel like that when it gets to be crunch time. Do we have a guy that we can turn to and say, OK, Go get go get something done. Well, you know, you see that in PT Martinez. Like I said, we know that he's got the talent. We know that he's a guy Argentinean Player of the Year South American player of the year. We know all the talent is there and hopefully now having spent a year In America and getting his feet wet and getting adjusted to the lifestyle and getting, you know, acclimated to everything about this country and not just, you know, again, like we said, not just playing for Frank board, not just playing an MLS. You know, learning his way around the day to day life and activities and things like that. You know, it's all of those things. Hopefully all of that now has come, you know, behind him. And now this could be a focus on everything about on field play. On field scoring. Taking it to some of these teams and taken his game to the next level. So should be exciting. You know, we talked about the fact that it's going to be good to see you on actual team that we root for. Lane coming up this weekend on Saturday. Of course we have all your action right here on sports Radio 99 the game as we are. You're home of all things. Atlanta United. And of course, you know, the broadcast will have Jason Long Shore and, ah Mike, my Connie. They'll be on the call for the rest of the way for you. Is it selfish that nobody is more excited about it? Maybe some week night games than old Chuck re, anyway. I say that out loud Was that my inner monologue that was coming out through all of that, But anyway good stuff very excited to get Excited. Get land. United back will be excited to get the Braves back. Be excited when training camp starts for the Atlanta Falcons in Love, there's going to be some hiccups, folks. Not going to be all smooth sailing. There's going to be some hiccups and something's going on. Take it in stride. You know, it's not going to run 100% perfect. Everybody, not everybody is going to be covert free, not always going to be perfect, and it's going to be some bumps and hiccups. It's more about how you respond. And how everything gets handled. How quickly everybody stays on top of it to avoid, you know, mass spread and things like that. So over Get Saturday Night, MLS a action. New York Red Bulls Atlanta United right here on Sports Radio.

"That Philippe and I also talked about is and this was in relation to the Ah, return of former five stripes defender Leandro Gonzales Perez to MLS. He actually Ah, played in Liga MX for the better part of I would say 1/2 a season before the suspension of play. A lot of those clubs are dealing in some financial ruin, so they've had to shed a lot of their higher priced talent. L G. P was one of those. He's now going to play an inter Miami but same kind of situation that Jurgen Dom isn't he cannot join that team. Until after the MLS is back. Tournament concludes in Orlando. And The funny thing about it is is once this team is back to full form. I didn't think I'd be is bullish about the defense. Love Atlanta United as I am right now, especially after seeing the play of Fernando Mesa getting unhealthy Miles Robinson back until Franco Escobar played Probably two of the three best games he's played outside of the post season. In Atlanta. You know uniforms. Franco's has a flair for the dramatic in the postseason, but I think now with that increased responsibility, he is somebody who you can certainly count on to be on the field, especially in that back third or back for if they do would tend to go with four in the back, depending on how Frank de Boer Want to utilize his his defensive players. We don't want to play a shell say against a team like Columbus if they are ending up, getting the full points in their 1st 2 contests against Red Bulls. And Cincinnati. The addition of dob, according to Jason Longshore, also says something about the team as a whole in that. There's a lot of competition for playing time as becoming sparsely. Look at the talent you have in this group between Matteo's Satu Manual Castro Now York and, um, you have Ezekiel Barco. You have 50 Martinez in the midfield. You've got Emerson Hyneman, Mo Adam's Eric Rometty Jeff Larentowicz. There's so many players competing for spot that He's not walking in and started And and that's the thing I think that's that's very Evident even when you talk about the rumors involving Lopez is that, you know, even bring Lopez in. I mean, that's a move for the future. That's a move for, you know, a couple years down the road. That's there's a $5 million price off on him. Ah, so you're not bringing him in as a as a quick fix. I know that there were a lot of people who are wondering if there would be that type of quick fix move. To something that was out of John could do in Jos Martinez absence. I don't know if that move is is afoot. I do think that the amount of time that Frank Tabor has had to tinker with certain different plans. The confidence they have in pity Martinez of top And also the other comments of players. They feel like they can cover the Loss of Jos Martinez adequately But the biggest question mark right now, according to Philip a car Dennis's. How do you get the ball on that? Well, I think it's consistency. I mean, you said it looks like it's difficult to ignore the absence of a player like this. Martinez, one of the best players This league has ever seen One of the most ruthless and premier goalscorers Animal s history. You can't replace that. And so that will be difficult to do. I think you know when they didn't have him before the pandemic. Shut everything down. They were going to try different things, and then we we saw that last season when he was injured. He missed out on a couple of games and US Open Cup. Martinez and Marco were kind of expected to play and attacking a roll with a lot of talk of the past nine and can confront the poor slowly, no implement that into his tactics. Um, but I think I'll go back to consistency because I think what you saw from Atlanta United began this season was a team that was feeling pretty confident before they went to Mexico. I do think that they'll advance out of that group. I do not like the knockout round pairing of Ah Of them being basically paired against team from the what I call the Trafficker Group, the Ah! Of the group that involves The L. A galaxy at the L. A. F c, but I do think that If they could kind of use that group period to figure some things out because you're never going to know what it looks like. Until you put it out on the pitch. That is again a lot of the 64 $1000 question that sits in the mind of Frank de Boer and sits in the minds of five shops. Fans is just how how does it look? On the pitch. You can You can workshop it all you want in skull sessions, you Khun train on it as much you want and believe me. The two teams they start out playing. They know very, very well. They beat Cincinnati earlier in the season. They've done a lot of scrimmaging and a lot of high profile matches against our Red Bulls. So there is no question about preparation when it comes to these 1st 2 matches for Atlanta United, but How it looks in this format. How it looks in this condensed little play and how it looks with three months off the pitch, there is going to be some some rust. What I do expect them to put the ball in the net. And I also think to that. This is really the.

"Phillipe Isnt ability Sports Radio 92 90 game in for John sugary on this Wednesday evening. The one thing that this shift does do to you is that it completely throws off your chi, no drawn trustees during the show. I never liked Teo to do a show on a full stomach because it allows for certain Certain sounds and noises to happen that you don't want to hear on the radio, so and it also, just like I almost feel like a lot of times you feel like you know, I don't like Tio. After I eat. I don't like this. Sit down and be sedentary. I feel like I got to do something afterwards. Something something recreational if you will. Get into that, Anyway. You would like Ah, But you know, just to get it it. Ah! It just doesn't put me in a good head space so I think it's some point hour and 20 minutes and right now I'm going to get the pope on Children's like, well, I'm hungry from girlfriend. Ah, enjoyed herself on the porch at AA. And I'm sure that's happening right now. I'm surprised I haven't gotten that tap. You'd be like, Well, we gotta eat. So Ah, It's been fun, though. We've we've had a lot of Ah laughs and Fun times here with you guys here on the night show and again loved every minute of it. I love the opportunity. Ah, we had Earlier on the show to talk with belief, a car Dennis and also heard from Jason Longshore earlier today, as well. He was on Andy and Randy and I want the type of, uh, kind of Condense some of those comments here from both of them. Linda United, making some news earlier today they saw Jurgen Dom, who played most prominently, at least the first kind of came on the scene while he had a studio space in the Mexico in the Mexican League. And then, of course, ah Plates for some other teams, but has made Israel Ah, money with T. Grace was there from June 50 June 2015. All the way through. It also played for the Mexican national team. Ah, the thing that he brings to the table is speed and Felipe Picard Dennis believes that once she's able to play after the MLS tournament in Orlando He should factor into the 18 pretty early on. Well, I am in a room 27. So start a good age to contribute here. And I'm a lesson, especially on a team like that. A lot of united but you know, he does have an interesting story at one point in his career, and he was when he was younger. Yeah, He was really, you know, highly touted talent in Mexico with a lot of promise, really high feeling, uh, made his way into the Mexican national team and and played some pivotal game. Uh, you know, he found it difficult lately at progress, which is ah, Big club in Mexico in a team that Within the Mexican League is pretty stacked with some talented players created players attacking clothes, and he found it difficult to get on the field. So you know this is his free transfer. I mean, it's It's a good move for a lot of united because they're not paying a lot of money. They're paying me $50,000 too. Dialogue for discovery, right but really free transfer, so they're getting a player for nothing. And the thing that I like about him is that you know he is going to provide the kind of push that you're going to get a player like a manual. Castro somebody on the wing that You can allow Petey to play up top. You can allow material so set through the play of top, possibly with PT on the flank. Uh, the one thing that this group is goingto have in spades now is speed, at least after Orlando and again. I think there are some limitations in Orlando because of the condensed nature the tournament. Frank Tabor is going to have to shovel this lineup greatly in order to account for The fact that you are playing three games in 10 days after a period of time where you've gone Four full months without an actual competitive match so that that part of it Is a a tough layer to overcome. I do think that on balance. This is a group right now. That has speed now, with one thing that is kind of a A Ah! On Achilles heel. That belief they did concede is that you know, finishing ability that last touch on the ball is something that he didn't really found A T Grace so because of that. There's going to be ah, a bit of Ah I don't want to say, hushed type of optimism. You kind of have to see how he fits in the balance the team and what Frank the board wants to do, and it's It's a big big concern. When it comes to Ah, whether or not he picked it fits in and factors into where they want to put him. Ah, you mentioned I mentioned the fact that he is not going to be able to be available right away for selection. Jason Longshore went into a little bit of why That is when he joined Andy and Randy early today on honey to nine. There's some tricky things with the way the rosters are going to go there. There will be a short window of teams being able to add to their roster ahead of that tournament, but players who would be classified as targeted allocation, money signings or designated players. Would not be eligible to play in that they will be eligible to join the team after the tournament. It's a little bit of the perception of yes, players are taking a pay cut, and it's reported by the athletic Earlier today, players were taking a pay cut the season 5% over the life of the year of the contract. And they don't want to bring in high price players into this tournament because you're asking the players who are here to take less money to see you. It's a tricky situation that the league is trying to navigate and the league put out a release on this, saying that that two day transfer window it takes place Monday and Tuesday and really all that is, is that the complete transactions executed By MLS clubs prior to the suspension of the season and a lead up to travel, So it basically is for players have already had the opportunity to be part of the traveling party. Ah, and there will be a secondary window after the Tournament is over, which begins on the first day after the term, which is August 12th and goes through October, the 29th backto Philippa and our conversation with them. There's a lot of limited stuff that you could say when it comes to being a part of the team. Involving some rulers. There have been a lot of rumors involving 18 year old Paraguayan attacking player Eric Lopez Leaf, a cardinal's says There's certainly some smoke to that fire. So you know, I mean, I can't confirm every single report that's come out of Uruguay, and some of those reports are coming from very legitimate sources and reporters and journalists that They're very well connected in South America. So me from my side From what I've been able to glean from my sources. You know, I can confidently say that I will not be surprised if that move not done very soon..
