"Had natasha greenwich the tasha. Hello how was your week by week is good. This is the least stressful part of it though. So now i m peaking. I just got. I just got twitter. Shamed by frank shaw microsoft to catch up on. If you to know how i'm doing. We also have marianne as marianne. Hello and in question to you. I'm actually doing great. Alex thank you. It's been a good week. I only to say that on the podcast. You'd never be very negative jones sexual. I don't think anyone's ever said that before okay. Well we're we're breaking new grounds and guys but there's a lot to get into. We have three funding rounds abroad very excited about and then we have three themes so funny. Row world five will cobalt and found not. The podcast found. The company found turns out. And then we're going to riff on angels news. What it means. Go full stack or horizontal in the modern startup world. We're talk about consolidation in the arp space in that neigh single for other start-up categories. And then we're going to talk about something that's buried depressing but cooking to quite nice which is climate tech. And how maybe start. I'm still save our bacon. Maybe not have to see anyways. We're gonna kick off with five natasha. This was an edge company. I loved telling people what's going on. Yeah so this is a milwaukee based startup which already makes it pretty cool. There's raised ten million in a series eight to become per the founder the hallways of the educational internet so put differently. They're basically trying to be like a social learning space for high schoolers to come hang out study together talk about things that they can't find peers to talk about with people across the country or globe even on an online space discord in some ways. That's what i was thinking about the maryanne. You're the resident parents of the three of us so thinking about your children how stoked when they beat digital hallways with which to bali one another now honestly and skeptical about this model. I am not sure if it's gonna work. I guess it really depends on the student. You know there's a lot of them are finally getting back in person. And i'm not sure about this idea of a virtual hallway. I i'm not sure i get it like. Is that going to be a model. That will be successful in the long run. So what what. I just described five bowl being. Is there moonshot where they are today. Is there a place where students go to saudi together for exams. So growing up. I would get on skype with my best friend. Stay on all night just for moral support to practice. Ap us history flash cards. They're trying to create like a more focused space. Where you kind of do expense with each other. It's kind of tried to take advantage of like already. Existent study hockey culture. That happens with high school students. But what's different from. Getting on dischord just wondering. I think it's the fact that you can connect with students all over the world. One student will host like a seven hour. Ap us history. I keep thinking of a push. Because i was like my most triggering subject growing up they'll create like saudi arabia around that for seven hours..

"Because new. No think about this. If you knew this was going to be a pure nightmare. You'd be really well equipped for this right. You'd have talking points to have extra documents you can point people to you'd have you wouldn't have every employee got a windows. Wait you would never everybody. Everybody giving different answers on twitter to individual people with sting with the right but that doesn't mean there. There weren't people in the company going somebody. Hello is no one else sing this. I mean at some point. There's a decision making level where they signed off on this and they have my point is they. Had to have known within windows within microsoft. Of course there are people that have different access to information and they're just excited about what they're doing what they know about it and then the truth comes out there like wait a minute and then you know there'll be a little investigation or whatever however they look at this triage the problem and it's like man. We should have really done better with this but how how many times we put it. They never do better. Why now i'll tell you so. We don't still have the answer like do you. Do we have an answer right now. So which is the cutoff. We don't know right now. It is still eighth generation. However this right right so actually i want to say i will say this We have a rich history. Just just talk windows ten right. Just in the past six years some feature update will come out all of a sudden kindles crashing. Pc's or you know the stupid problems happening. It's like how did this get through the cracks and blah blah blah. These guys never once stood up and said we're sorry we're sorry i screwed up the what they say is they bring john cable. That poor guy. John like the process works this. Just everything's great. This is this has been the most successful of any version of windows ever to spend the weekend blog must be in that place from one flew over christmas. But here's the thing. This time i will. I gotta give him credit for this. They came out. They actually apologized. They have never done that. Never done that. And they said we will consider based on the feedback. We get during the beta. Because they're going to allow people in with older chips. That's whether to include specifically seventh generation intel and the equivalent. amd chipsets remember that version of their sorry and i it is inconceivable that they won't right. You cannot throw that bono. Now and not do it. And i and i based on again this is completely anecdotal is based on the feedback. I get based on the pc's. I've seen here in my own home of which i could build literally afford out of Seven ten to me seems like the the volume. And i think that will that will sue. The lot of hurt feelings would say now like you know. We're going to do it if i so if i'm frank shaw i'm gonna take france name in vain the head of corporate communications. You know what you do friday before a holiday weekend. You put out a press release or a blog post and say we screwed up here are the requirements and you do it over and then people don't notice because they're already gone for the fourth of july and then it comes down over the weekend and then people talk about next week. They like okay. They fixed it so you do right. Yeah i write. I'm i'm just going to bring something forward That's later in the notes because i As of going to say last thursday when they announced this this to me was going to be the biggest controversy. Not any of the stuff. We just talked about windows home. Windows eleven home requires a microsoft account and an internet connection. When you set it up. That is insane. That is as dumb as xbox one is going to require an internet connection at all times and what about people in submarine don't like that. Is that dumb. This other stuff is so bad. Nobody's even talking about this anymore. We've just you know it's like It's like i lost an. I got my someone cut off my leg. That's worse you know like it's it's like you have to choose between the terrible and you pick the one that's most terrible. We complain about that but it's fascinating to me. How there has been no uproar whatsoever over this eleven home. Thanks. it's been a little but nothing compared to nothing. It's gotten drunk right. I didn't think that was going to be well. I thought i thought among the people who will listen to windows weekly. Yes that was going to be another point of outrage the requirement to be connected to do home but the normal people. I didn't think it would. Because i think most already go. You're right you're right. I i was telling toll brad this this morning i and i i don't i don't do this to make fun of an individual and but his name is bob speth. No i mean. I i got an email from skip. I got an email from someone who said you know. He relies on having a local account. That's an administrator. And then he signs in his microsoft account as user. Oh you did. I gotta tell you just just as a matter of course. That is the dumbest thing i've ever heard in my life Confused i was like wait. What here's the most secure way. You can sign into your windows computers with a microsoft account. That has to step eric vacation on the account. Password recovery system. Yup and that's number. One question i get on the radio is i ever got my pants. Were yeah so but but just just as a matter full disclosure. Yes if you're over thinking things in so technical that you know better than everyone else yes you can sign into windows. Eleven home with a microsoft account you can create a local cop you can make that account the administrator you can then delete your microsoft and go on your way. Don't ever do that thing. I've ever heard my life but trying to follow along. And i'm like wait. I don't think i understand what he's doing is because to me that because if they think i don't have an associated microsoft account microsoft one. No what i'm up to is that why they do that..

"And we thank them so much important everything we do here at At twit back to paul and mary jo. What we're we're surprises. I'm going to tell you. My surprise was app store android. Apps is that was the more thing that was the end of the past year talking about wfl and how this was the way they were going to do. Android apps bible by amazon amazon's. It's the amazon store. Not that google play store which i think is well same thing. Yeah google play services google services. Yes but still i. I you know one of the big concerns we because we talked about this so many times you know what if microsoft themselves right i mean what a disaster that would be now. know being able. They tried it. they had an android bridge. No i i mean Curated android apps and putting them smart. This smart somebody already has a story. They've done the stupid work. And it's not google let it's not goal but a bad thing amazon makes android tablets under the firebrand and so in order to get android apps on your fire tablet or we're gonna be selling fire. Pc's now it's on flagel and tell me about this intel bridge because I'm not paying attention. But i i wasn't aware of it. Yeah i never heard of it. Okay until put out a press release about this today They're collaborating with microsoft. On this thing called the intel bridge technology. it is How did they describe it. Let's see a run time. Post compiler that enables apps to run natively on x eighty six based devices Wait a minute wait a minute whole so. That's not an emulator. Exactly it's a compiler right that's a whole lot more info it just has. We've been working with microsoft on this. I guess is what the original with a microsoft bridge was to do. So but does it mean if i'm an android developer. After re compile my arm right what about on devices so this is a strike against arm for sure right like this is intel microsoft and saying give us something to make it so that people are going to want to continue to want until devices with windows eleven okay. Let's do this bridge. Then we can have android apps on intel based. Pc's so confused. i we need. Obviously there's details missing right until and microsoft haven't shared a lot of that yet But you know at three o'clock today eastern time there's eight developer briefing this open to everyone on youtube from microsoft. So maybe they'll tell us more during that. Maybe a and i just i does this. Mean you literally have to have an intel. Cpu in the computer avenues. The speech it looks like it looks like yes. Oh interesting no are no. Amd and no will. That's a that's a big deal. Right there i don't know about a md. But definitely does not. I think it's definitely not arm right. We need to look into this is that that's that's interesting. The other thing they said. I don't know if this is new or if it's just as a underscoring something already exists but it's definitely shot at apple which is getting a lot of heat for its thirty percent big in its app store. They said you can bring your own commerce engine to the app store and we will take zero percent zero. Will they finally gave up on the stream. You know that they can be apple and by the way i think helping. It is a lot of the regulatory attention. It also honestly put some pressure on apple. Now explains france. frank. Shaw's a op. Ed piece in which he really excoriated apple's app store policies They're much more pressure on apple. Now now legislators and regulators can say we'll look at microsoft they don't they don't try and by the way Exactly one week ago amazon announced that it was lowering. Its a revenue cut for through the amazon app store from thirty percents to twenty percent For developers who are in up to a million dollars prior calendar. So of aping apple's policy which by the way apple fifteen percent. I might point out by the way i accept. But here's the important distinction amazon's just doing it right amazon. This is the new policy. Were not in apple's case you have to sign up you have to be approved. You have wait. It doesn't it doesn't it doesn't just happen. Automatically it starts like the following year. Whatever it is. I mean apple i out. Obviously apple knows the pressure. That's happening and they they see what's happening and you get the feeling. They did this so they had something to point to and say well. You know we're doing the right thing. Look it's not that bad But but at amazon Like a lot of the smaller story starting to see it just said but bridge go down and You know we'll see gogel Think google did fifteen percents while right on the first from that mistaken. Yes fifteen million million. Yeah i think so. And of course. The bulk of money is made with by companies like amazon that flakes it. Of course have more than a million in revenue yearly It's a nice little tax the rich policy. We should start thinking about mortality by the way but microsoft zero. We're not gonna cut you. Can you can bring your own app store. It's not zero for everybody. Fuse microsoft's zero course. You bring your own third party commerce platform. if you use microsoft's platform the split still eighty five fifteen unless europe game developer and then the split is going to be eighty eight twelve starting august first. There's a few little nuances. Interestingly it's like yeah mexico saying look we really want apps in our store and well let you take the money know one of the things that apple does not want as steam or epic to put a game store on ios true. That's where the battles going on between apple and advocate court. Because that's where all the money's man right right. I mean microsoft saying epic. Come on you can be in our apps store and use your own. Well epic charges their own fees. So they they'll get all the money. Now that makes sense that makes sense for everybody. Although i think we all know epic well enough. So the knock against the microsoft or whatever could steam my Wanna know others of course and others they should really. But you know an apple side when you look at something like Xbox cloud gaming and the xbox app on ios silica can't do that. and i. it's almost like you wanna think. Apple almost doesn't understand how this model works. You know we're not selling peop- does not a store. The there's just the selection again. They're paying a subscription fee and They don't even want to allow that without that. You know it's almost. They wanted the right to approve. Every single game that went through the xbox game cloud gaming service microsoft does not. You know it. It's it's crazy. that's he's so they. The app store looks nice. It's pretty but the complaints people have about microsoft's app store is more the quality of the apps And into they address that at all the they did. Yeah so there aren't major changes to the existing app typeset. It will be in the store beyond the thing we discussed right so obviously there are When thirty two desktop apps there are dot net apps. There are Uwb which are really mobile apps Their hybrid apps that are kind of web some native. Pwa type apps that kind of thing. So that's all you know. Obviously that's all continuing forward. It's and i look through their rare joe mentioned. There's a developer live thing. And maybe there'll be some clarification but looking through their blog posts honestly for existing app types. I didn't see a lot of improvements. are changes. Or however you wanna word it for existing types of apps you know project reunion is it was always a codename and that's going to become the windows App s. t. k. Not to confuse it with the windows. Sd k which is the old thirty two style decay and okay called his name and I don't you know. I i think there there are. There are some things they didn't really say there was this notion of this new widget panel thing that would be open which i take to me. Third parties can create widgets. That run in this thing that you as a user might be able to install in there and they never discussed that explicitly. So i guess we'll see if that happens or not but by and large. I'm sorry the quite fancy question. I'm sorry they The big partner that they mentioned was adobe. And i think this is gonna do is get some of the big players who hadn't gone into the store before because they're the ones charging for the service they don't want to have whatever. The percent is go to microsoft or adobe strong commerce engine so or the whatever commerce engine use so they're not gonna pay microsoft anything and now they will be in the store and that benefits everyone. It's more exposure for customers using eleven to.

"The statistics came as part of Microsoft's Q. Three twenty twenty earnings report this afternoon as the first time. We've seen xbox game pass numbers period Microsoft says that gaming in particular benefited from increased engagement do stayed home orders. This led to record engagement according to Microsoft communications chief. Frank Shaw. Xbox live also saw nearly nine ninety million monthly users this quarter Microsoft game streaming service project exile hit hundreds of thousands of active active users across its seven preview countries. Wow Ninety million monthly users. That's crazy that's awesome yet. Those are very impressive numbers. Ten Million Xbox Game Pass I think definitely isn't achievement granted like they're they definitely definitely been handing out xbox game pass like hotcakes rate late with all the sales of it for one dollar. I know I got a back in the back during last June after their three conference right. Microsoft. Made it. So that you can buy you could pay one dollar for xbox ultimate And then that'll then that'll then bundled together like both the time you have with xbox game pass and xbox gold and combine those though those months and so like that was. That was a deal. I think a lot of people hopped on I hopped on that and I ended up getting my both my ultimate our book. My xbox live gold and my X. box game past extended from like what would have been like August till March or something like that and so yeah like they've they've been really doing a good job of of pushing game pass and and make sure that people have access to it aren't able to try it out and it seems like it seems like it's working so good for them. Yeah Eddie Gamespot wrap up taking all this information put more context to which I thought was interesting because there is obviously more at the key. Three report for Microsoft is a company. Xbox game pass cost ten dollars a month For the base package after a one dollar introductory offer with ten million paying customers services generating one billion dollars or more per year for Microsoft in total Microsoft total gaming revenue for the period fell by one percent down. Fourteen million but content service is revenue. Jump two percent up thirty three million due to the CO VID nineteen crisis. That is keeping people at home. Microsoft said gaming revenue would have been higher but a certain third party title begin to taper off. The company. Said this is more than likely reference to fortnight. Xbox consoles sales struggled during the period with hardware revenue following Revenue Falling by twenty percent. Cfo told her that the xbox series act remains on schedule to launch this holiday despite some interruption in the supply chain due to Kobe nineteen per petroff writes in the Patriots Dot com slash. Kind of funny games and says Hey Greg. Above the Microsoft earnings report came out enough that they have more than ten million paid. Xbox game pass subscribers. Do you think this is a success? For MICROSOFT AND THEIR SECOND QUARTER EARNINGS REPORT EARNINGS REPORT THEY ANNOUNCE game pass subscribers doubled in just that quarter and that was before we were in the throes of the pandemic so now with news of them hitting ten million subscribers in the third quarter earnings report. Where do you see them going with game pass from here so number one blessing? Do you think game passes and gamble. This paid off has been a success in the number two. Where do you take the service from here? I mean I think it's been one of their biggest successes of this jen like I think it's been it's been a breakout hit Them make it through making the transition with their all their first party titles and making them Available Day One on Game Pass. I think is like that's not a small decision. I think that's like that's a. That's a decision you make and you're like we're we're doing this because we're dedicated to making this the service thing and we want everybody that has an Xbox to have the service or everybody that's that's a part of this ecosystem to have the service and so you know. I think I think you know from here. They keep going with that. I think next GEN IS GONNA be huge Game Pass. Because he think he'll infant is coming out this fall that's GonNa be on game pass that's GonNa be big game pass Forza motorsport. They have been announced. But like you imagine motorsport eight is going to be out this fall with the launch. That's going to be as you mentioned that. Quite a few launch titles or it'd be available on game that's going to go a long way to marketing. That service for people right even though that you can you can pay I forget the price like what ten dollars a month. Yeah ten bucks. A month have access to probably like a good handful of of launch titles let alone all titled. We've seen over the last Chen and previous generations on that service like that's huge and then you look at their upcoming Games which you know. They still haven't announced them yet. Right like events still coming and even without that you still have held blades. Twos was saga. You still have a rounded which. I can't remember if if that's like a paid game right for some reason my head might have been called it. The tiny people tiny people game. Yeah from obsidian right. That's going to be there. I think I think he played pay for it. I think it's just the type of game I usually associate with three to play for some reason. No that makes sense. I totally see that I see that door. But then yeah you have you. Have you have what you imagine is going to be a huge slate of launch window to our next a couple of years? I'm going to be available. I from xbox right like game pass from here. I think it's only going to grow and grow and become ubiquitous with the system. Like I I think at a certain point you are going to dissociate xbox as a system and as the ecosystem and brand with game pass yeah no one hundred percent. I think again. That's been there big gamble on it that I think paid off is the fact that they've been pro Gamer. They've made all these cool gaming Programs and services for Gamers and while they didn't have the librarian exclusives this generation to win the war. Bring up which is to him. I do think that with xbox series if they now that in Halo's great and they have a great launch line from these Great lineup I should say talking about what's coming throughout the years here. You suddenly get people in there faster. I think it is that you know where do I? So yes I mean. Game Pass has been huge success for Microsoft. I think it's changed. You know The conversation in a Lotta ways and distribution models for a lot of games Where does it go from here up? I think it goes that it becomes ubiquitous with xboxes brand and the xbox series. I think when you turn the xbox series ex UNITA beginning at least a month if not three months of Game Pass Free. I think you need to be it was wartime. What yesterday on The Games cast ripe that I I have high hopes for infinite because I believe that they know they can't fuck it up. They need to be amazing. Be A great launch game in return Halo to its place in the video game industry and so they're able to launch that in playstation comes out and it's like I out horizon to is in a launch title. It'll be out springer. Whatever I think. Then the conversation gets or the choice gets easier for many people while it's going to buy them both. But now by xbox launched I could play on the best unit and then they get in there and they start playing it and they start using xbox passing they start seeing smart. Llerena start seeing all the services and all of a sudden. They are like fucking. This is great. Maybe I'll move over here for third parties. Maybe I'll put off by playstation five a little bit longer all these different conversations start to APP is a Trojan horse. GonNa think or I think they WANNA get this into your house and into your hands so you know Holy Shit. I need this. Yeah these these things are going to bundle it for sure with with xbox series Ex. Yeah Yeah They. That's the same way they do with like a live right gold or whatever but I think it's like for like three days or a week or whatever but like did because that is the trade off like if you buy the system and you get three months of it like why would I buy A. Oh yeah that'd be my first question of like. Oh Yeah you're just giving people halo for free at that point and everybody gets who gets the system? Which would be a great. That'd be a power moves. I'd be a a big move for them but could you then at the same time like it was only ten bucks a month right or maybe you do a week free and then happy will pay for pay pay the ten bucks. Ab will play Halo longer or whatever the other first party titles maybe we will see blessing actually junior but I I wanna know a Games came before I let you tell me about them or whatever the hell we do. "RV Park headlights. And I kinda see in running right beside the part that I was in were high lines and they and they crossed lost the highway almost directly behind my trailer as I looked up what I saw was this Bat Lake Doc object and I watched it and it went and it was underneath the high lines and it went in between so like on my side was Was a tower with islands in the other side was a tower kind of at an angle. And what's this thing and it went underneath the high wires inbetween those polls so at the time wasn't really thinking about it but I could tell that this was big. It wasn't like it. Was You know a bird word that I was missing. Identifying matter of fact I I kind of looked up and I thought I thought it was almost a flock of birds and then as I watched it and it moved in the light from the intersection where they had the streetlights was it was low enough it was just right above the streetlights but the way they were it was kinda bouncing off the bottom of this in what I what I could tell was. It was like this grey Vampire Bat staue wing almost kind of scalloped on the mm-hmm trailing edge. Now I didn't really see a body but what I saw the wings kind of folded out in like a Delta shape if you will and and it was kind of scalloped on the back edge and I could what I could make out. was that the back edge of it was flapping in the wind as it flew now. That's really all I really remember of it and I remember just thinking what the hell was that and so as when I kind of message Jeff and I'm like I think I'm I think I'm over stressed. I think that's actually what I did. And then I thought I was even sending things and I went and got out my and I was measuring M. F. which and I will say it was high. I I was getting about eight to ten Mil Gos- consistently in my area of the park which is can induce hallucinations. Cannon do these things so so kinda. I remember kind of tossed and turned on at thinking. What the heck was I mean? Really what was that and then I thought the next day I got up and I was thinking I was talking to you. Throughout the day I went and did some claims when I was coming back. And that's when it dawned on me I said well I think I'm gonNA email kin and see what's going on man as an investigator I I just don't think I want. Don't that on somebody to 'cause I don't WANNA lose credibility sure I mean I. That's what I and that's why ultimately never sent it to him. Yeah but now he's like I said he was the only person on new that investigated and tracked Iraq. Some of that stuff that I had heard of that at the time I had heard of lawn. strickler do in the crypto stuff that I really just never got down that path. So do I guess it was a couple of nights later. I just got the wild hair and I went on and I started googling you know Houston Big Birds I think is what I started with. Because that's what in my brain was. We're leading IT T- and Lo and behold I stumbled on a gold mine of stuff that kind of may be changed my perspective on this whole thing so there is sightings in Houston of what they call the Houston the bat beast the Batman The there's they call Mothman and it kind of goes down towards Corpus and backup to Houston area but one of the things that I found really interesting and I'm not going to go down that path because we could do an entire episode on. Jack Parsons but the this is where it gets a little weird. But so if you don't know Jack Parsons says he was the founder of JPL and which is the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Tori is the person that developed the rock solid state fuel that we ended up ultimately sending our rockets to the moon in with Very instrumental in helping NASA get to that point again. It's there's a whole lot about Jack. Parsons but the thing. That's funny is the story of the Houston. GARGOYLES call it. The NASA Garg Oil kind of relates back to Jack. Parsons so there's a story out there. There's some myth out there that actually the truth of the story is Jack. Parsons was is really involved. In the occult he in like Alastair Crawley were like good friends they talked back and forth. He was actually also friends. With l Ron Hubbard. And matter of fact they had a they were into like sex magic in dark magic and all that kind of stuff and Alastair Crawley ran off with Jack's girlfriend Viansa in any way it was that some really weird stuff. It's Kinda weird that the founder. JP was into some of that stuff. He ended up ultimately blowing himself up in his basement developing something but the story is so it was well known that Jack Parsons ouster. Crawley l Ron Hubbard. They would what do these incantations to try to open open portals to try to influence things by astral projection in that sort of stuff. Yeah so the story is is that they created portals. That opened up that allowed. These beasts to come through and so one of the stories that I want to The WanNa talk about and I got this one from is actually. The story was on an anomaly. In which I'm not super he'd to that site but I thought this story was pretty good. It's actually a bunch of different size. Schools were good but this is This story involves NASA archivist Frank Straw and what Shaw and what happened on a windy night. In nineteen eighty six scholl had an uneventful day of work shift entity headed for his car. Shaw said that is near his vehicle. He happened to glanced up at one of the massive buildings at the JC which is at the NASA complex. What he saw was unlike anything he had ever seen in something he wished he never had? It was perched on top of the building and instantly filled Shawwa terror. He described a bizarre creature. A large jet black nightmare with huge bat like wings reminding him of Gargoyles he frozen places of winged beast stared straight at him. Shaw felt that the Gargoyles like creatures actually enjoyed the panic that he was experiencing the argo then spread. It's wings and with a crackling sound flew off into the Houston night. Shaw eventually managed to calm himself south enough that he could begin his drive home. His family noticed that he was later than usual but thought he probably had to work late which was not uncommon when he finally arrived home. It was obvious is that something was terribly wrong. He was an honest and serious man but the store he tell was not just believable his family felt that he must have misinterpreted what he had seen. What all kit? What all could agree on was that he should not tell anyone about exciting at the Houston? Gargoyles Frank Shaw kept his word and said nothing about what what he had seen for a while but eventually he decided that he had confided his friend and supervisor and told him what he had seen the response that shall received was a total surprise. I shall supervisor informed him that he was not the first one to report the strange cargo creature in fact a foul had already been opened dealing with the bizarre creature following assigning of the guardrail and the death of two German shepherds at the JC shawls relieved to know he and not imagine the whole event but was soon visited by investigators and interrogated about what he had seen shall told them everything he could remember about the gargling counter investigator to be satisfied before leaving however ever the investigators gave a stern warning to keep quiet about the incident shell kept his word and never again talked about the night he saw the Houston Gargoyles. Now where I'm going with. This story is there's multiple citing supposedly reported at NASA complex. There of this Houston Gargoyles my RV Park. That I was in was about two miles from the Houston Houston Space Center interesting. It was the so. There was a big drainage ditch that Kinda ran through and that drainage ditch in the way it comes through Kinda came off the end of the space center and it runs through and then where my rv park was was right at a bridge where railroad tracks plant that went up towards the space centre and then out that path the tracks went straight over to the coast and that little inlet in that drainage geria- went out into the water the path you know you know didn't make that bigger. Make their full screen for us. Go ahead go ahead. What your store knows the path half that this thing was taking was from the space center to the water that I that I saw? Then see a ABC. I've got to two places to take this that I see a humanoid creature or did I see some sort of black ops project that they're Developing Ping it the space program that some sort of you're talking about the new space program coming out right now the space force no no. I'm talking just in general that I see a Garg oil from the Houston Space Center. Or did he may be some sort of technology that they were using they they were flying out to the coast to test this thing or something so you what you saw us. You said it was winglike. Is that all you could see. I mean did you see any we. It was like A. I didn't see red glowing eyes. I didn't see what kind of wing was. It was like square wing Iran wing. What I remember was a bat wing? Matter of fact there is an image that I'm GonNa put in the notes of a bat like creature and it almost kind of look you know how some of like the vampire vampire movies will have this skeletal. Look in wing in his kind of leathery and it's kind of flappy and scalloped on the back edge between the ribs and home. That's what I can't remember seeing. It was kind of a grayish darker color but again it was dark and what I'm seeing the light reflecting off of it. It was close enough enough that I could say sitting back now and I went out multiple nights. I've got a couple of cameras and range finders and and I don't have those that information eh. This point here but I went out and was looking up at those deals and what I can estimate is that the wing was Komo you go ahead and restore him. I'm trying to watch the fight over here. The wings were probably ten to fifteen feet wide. Wingspan is probably Blake. Because of where it flew in the again it was under the wires on top of the towers the struts that hold the power lines the Helen's is up but it was so above the ground under the the lines it flew in between two so as I'm watching it go and I'm watching across the street. There's a car and I can kinda see in. I can tell you that it was like this wide. It was probably ten to fifteen feet wide in the air as it went across. Okay so how high up near would you say that would be those towers. If I'm if I remember I've got notes on where those towers I.

"Yahtzee. Oh Jack Drag was a Sicilian by way of New York around Nineteen fifteen. He'd come to Los Angeles to escape murder charges in New York though he was eventually tracked down and extradited for the crime. He dodged prison and made his way back to California. And being on good terms would help him cement his role as an LA figurehead. Los Angeles was an up and coming scene for organized crime name but it was still too insignificant to warrant much attention from the nationwide mafia commission without an established infrastructure. La Was Wide Open frontier for gangsters from all across the country next pads from New York Chicago. Detroit and the like all came together in the Sun. These men diversified versus their businesses quickly. dragnes sunk his claws into the illegal gambling. While Bugsy Siegel found he could hustle Hollywood unions and make a fortune Russian by extorting production companies even the LAPD got a piece of the action. The police quickly gained a reputation for taking bribes. Ebbs from the deep pocketed gangsters. All they had to do was look the other way in one thousand nine thirty seven local businessman Clifford Clinton was is summoned to an La county grand jury the subsequent trial he was placed on gave him an idea of how deeply the city's corruption ran. Clinton personally funded a civilian investigative committee according to journalist and Gangster Squad author Paul Lieberman Clinton's conventional report revealed. The city was home to one thousand eight hundred bookies six hundred brothels two hundred gambling parlors and twenty twenty three thousand slot machines all operating under the nose of mayor. Frank Shaw but Clinton's good intentions turned bloody in January nineteen thirty eight. A bomb exploded in the car of Harry. The police had suspected expected that Raymond was hired to dig up dirt on the forces corruption before the bombing. Police Captain Earl connect- had dispatched officers or is to stake out Raymond's house and worse. The detonating wire for the bomb was found in Connecticut Garage. Naturally the public was horrified horrified in a flurry of changes captain. Connect- went behind bars for attempted murder. The chief of police resigned and Frank Shaw became team. The first Metropolitan Mayor recalled from his position a nearly unheard of occurrence in us. Let's be hall a rugged Westerner who'd cut his teeth on Montana's backcountry horam moved to sunny. La and join the forests in the early nineteen twenties earnings by nine hundred forty one. He was appointed as chief of police. Who are all new? His reputation would be contingent on cleaning up the streets streets but by the fall of nineteen forty six if the L. A. Times headline gangsters and gambling. War was any indication he wasn't in doing so hot. The Times headline incited the chief to take action he needed men. The knew the INS and outs of organized crime he. He couldn't put any rookies on the task. A special unit whose sole job was to vail organized criminals seem like the best place to start and if they needed did he use some scare tactics. Along the way furrows attitude wise Soviet. No one could know which men on on the force were taking bribes so the unit needed to stay under wraps or it'd be in jeopardy. According to Paul Lieberman this new squad would need to operate at a time and place where truth was found not in the sunlight but in the shadows and justice found not in marble all court houses but in the streets because halls hands were full overseeing the entire police force he looked to a younger hunger. Crappier man to manage the squad. Sergeant Willy Burns of the seventy seventh street station at five foot. Seven inches burns was a stocky ex- Minnesotan who had solidified his reputation as an ex Marine Geraldo sales. Pitch was compelling manage an elite division of men to keep tabs on L. A.'s. Most notorious gangsters. According to writer John Bunyan. The goal was to make it difficult. Well an unpleasant for the subject of surveillance to meet with others transact business or have friends if they could quietly clean up the assorted businesses of drug shipments and protection rackets before they spilled out into the streets the LAPD may just be able to polish its tarnished ernest reputation. Willy Burns was in the gangster squad would be flies on the walls of of Los Angeles. The unit's formation in October of nineteen forty six was a gathering of ghosts essentially its purpose was to not exist. Prospects were hand picked by Lieutenant Burns eighteen men from various ranks and backgrounds within the LAPD after after being given the green light by chief Arale Burns posed the offer as one. They couldn't resist taking a spot on this unit. Would surely curry we favor with the chief for any man looking for a promotion a few years down the line. This was the place to be but not every man at the meeting was game for the requirements extreme secrecy long fifteen hour days and dealing directly with L. as most unsavory and dangerous criminals a week passed and only seven men signed on to join the squad. Those that accept it included sergeant. Jack o'meara Conwell uh-huh killer Jerry. The Professor Thomas and James Jumbo Canard Lieutenant Burns instructed his core team mm-hmm on how to operate any man on a squad. Assignment was to not arrest whoever they were targeting. If someone warranted a booking and they'd call in the uniformed officers on that beat arrests needed to be legitimate to hold up in court so the proper neighborhood cops should make them and of course no patrol cars instead. They'd operate out of two unmarked. Rusted Out Ford's driving old beater is kept a low profile. Even the license plates on the fords were often swapped out when the men were tailing a particularly sensitive lead by staking out the trash cans at the DMV. They could nab out of state plates to put on his burners. In the beginning these cars would be their Only communal spaces not having a true office was just another precaution. The squad's hangouts would be the very streets they policed these incredible stealth tactics led the gangster squad to be known as the termite men although while the fords were covert their Tommy. Were clunky and they couldn't stay tucked away in the trunk of the car lest they be stolen and fall into the wrong hands. uh-huh so with the cases in hand the men would meet up on street corners and talk through the plan for any given evening if they were lucky. They could tailor a stakeout based on tips that came in from informants and the men were sure to pay these informants handsomely the squad Secret Service Service Fund topped out at nearly twenty five thousand dollars with the team assembled. "Actually the bus got lost on the way to the venue. We had to loop like two city blocks in Manhattan in rush hour which is like two hours death. That's like crazy so so you might remember reading some complaints from some of the folks that were there as media about it was a really small small venue right it. Was this really long venue when you were in there. You didn't see it because you were looking at the stage on the livestream but it was really long skinny. Venue and very short the depth from the stage to back right so they brought all us in and there were a bunch of reserved seats already from Microsoft execs and stuff like that. In fact I had Joe Belfour. He's sitting right back off my right shoulder in Frank Shaw big. The COMBI. Rice president was their former marine. And and I had Yousif matty that was there and of course Ralph grown. was there from the surface team. Turns out. He was holding the duo in his bag the whole time during the day event but anyway so we were there to be enthusiast and so there was a couple very We were labeled idiots by one journalist. I yeah the idiots that some to that effect but we were there to clap and make noise and we did well. Yeah I think I did a little bit but it was still fun of it. So we had great seats right there in the midst of things watching them go through that process so it's pretty straightforward right most of that stuff leaked surface laptop three surface pro pro seven. I even think the pro x stuff had leaked right. We kind of knew about that ahead of time. So that was your main hardware so surface pro seven surface laptop. Three the ear buds right the the ear buds that they announced and they announced some other little peripheral stuff and then they surface pro rex and in that was what led into Panos announcing the surface duo and then surface neo and those were just. I mean those were cool. I couldn't get near them at the event because they had him in this little light roped off it wasn't really roped off but use of Medi was on a little this boxing ring kind of set up and you had to be scheduled with an appointment and then you would get it to go up there and talk about them and get some time to take pictures I. I don't remember seeing anybody handle them. Though so and so so as a surface fan so as the event ended they let the media go in that room. They took us to lunch. A couple blocks about a block away and we had this really nice lunch on a roof there in New York City. It's beautiful day and that's when we learned that one of the bone gifts we were going to be given was our choice between the surface laptop three or a surface pro seven with a keyboard aboard the thousand dollar from Intel. AMD One because this is Intel was sponsoring the gifting that so I chose the surface laptop three and I chose the silver. What we didn't have choice? It's the I five eight Gig one twenty eight. It's great device. It runs so well. I mean it's probably going to become my primary traveler instead of surface book to sure pretty light it very light battery. I tested it. It's got this fast charge feature all the new surfaces this year. You get get to eighty per cent charge on your battery within an hour and I tested. That invalidated that works. So it's it's an it's it's got the new I. I almost used it for this tonight. I was GONNA say. Let me try these studio. Mike's because it's got each of these new services have studio Mike von now instead of that kind of single dean mine but but they really did a good job with it. I mean I posted a video on. Read it of me doing the one finger open test right. Because of the balance balance of this thing is so good now you can actually open it. This is not a good example but you can actually open the lid with one finger and it doesn't move on you and I posted this on twitter and then I put it on. Read it and it got like it's the most viral thing I've ever posted on Reddit but it's they've done a really good job with it. The the ALCON Tara is a different kind of got a different Surfacing who it's not clottey if that makes sense if you've used the Al Qatar before and of course I the bigger track pad that track pad is massive and it's the same kind of keyboard sustained grateful for typing and stuff like that but they they've really done a good job but but this is the silver one that cobalt blue is simply beautiful. I just love cobalt blue and so I think you know the surface pro X.'s. Out I get to see a couple of those last week. Because a few people had emitting night and then of course you've seen all the reviews have come out in the you know the early reviews that a lot of people don't understand why norm devices. What an arm device doesn't doesn't do one reviewer today posted their review and complaint plane that it didn't have thunderbolt three now you know the problem? There right thunderball. Three is an intel technology. This is a qualcomm. Chip hip arm doesn't do Intel right. So they're complaining that it's a horrible embarrassment that it's not on there. It can't be right. Because of the device I was sitting with rich woods last week. Ignite in the press room. WHOA away mate? Eight or something like that. One of their arm devices devices because he still didn't have a surface pro x and so so the arm stuff will run thirty two bit APPs in emulation so even though what's an arm processor it will run thirty two bit APP in relation later layer and what happens is uncertain browsers. Don't do this. But most other normal programs thirty two bit programs the IT gets Kinda coded down right into arm operational stuff and that's cashed and that's what runs when run the thirty two bit APP. He I watched him open a browser and it was the most slow is the slowest thing I've ever seen and then he just got the Canary Canary arm. Build for edge. And he he so he was running edge canarian emulation and I saw it really chunky then he got the update for the Canary. Mary arm build and that thing open like that. So if if you understand the the it's not surface. Rt again right. Surface R T would due immolation. When it came out you could only do apps from the store that were compiled for you? Don't arm in fact if I remember right wasn't surface our system on chip or something like that I don't even know if it was a norm. I I got one running right here. It runs my. It's my weather station Mike. You're you're GonNa ask that question Mike. Yeah sorry no no I was going to jump in and say has on the Max you started getting a thirty two bit. Sixty four bit On Catalina which Max latest operating system. They have completely eliminated support for thirty two bit APPs and it was plagued whole completely. You can run a thirty two. Bit App in Catalina. Big thing. They've started in the last operating system at the released released last year. He started giving. You warnings. Saying this is not gonNA be compatible. In the next operating system warnings warnings and and for the most part every APP now is sixty four bit but there are a lot of like Legacy APPs or little tiny tools that were used for very specific purposes. That were still in thirty two bit. I didn't know you started getting to that. Has Windows talked talked about moving in that direction whereas hey we're only going to support sixty four bit or are they still very. We don't Care No. I don't think they've formally said they're intent. In fact news broke earlier this week that it looks like they're going to they're going to support emulation of sixty four bit APPs in arm sometime late next year. That was a story rich woods woods from Neil in Rhode. No Microsoft has not come out and said thirty two bit APPs going away I I agree with you. More and more APPs are moving that direction. Yeah right the people are just I think sixty four bit apps are just better on the system memory all that is more efficient than thirty two bit APPs so but they haven't come out with. I don't even remember. Hearing about Apple. Talking about Catalina in that yeah they have and so a lot of people are having to run you know either dual boot into windows or renting parallels Dell's and run windows they're right or you can even run parallels and run Mojave on Mac Right which still allowed thirty three the previous version. We Afra- Catalina. It was kind of a bigger deal in a lot of people who were just kind of following upgrade path but weren't techies they upgraded in one of their little yet. Didn't didn't work all your major APPS. Right you're adobe suite. You're the yellow masks imposed sixty four bit that they used for something something right and It kind of broke some of those and and for the most part because apple announced it so far ahead of time. Even the little utilities that had development element behind them were upgraded but it was the utilities that haven't been developed in years that people are still using for those are the ones that can struggled. Hey you know what some of those will utilities are actually the things that people rely on a day-to-day basis and they're still using an older version. And that's the big argument around windows seven right that people still argue about staying on windows seven because house of legacy though or or I've got something old and things like that I just saw jogesh chat mention chat about the default installation of offices thirty two to bit. And that's correct. You have to go in and change that if you want the sixty four bit but he also said Windows home server the into support for our two thousand eight and windows some servers in January along with windows seven. We don't talk a lot about those as we talk about Windows seven and windows home server with was the stuff I know I. Eight is good when I loved running that Os when that in this audience you know. I would say if I was going to say the majority of these guys are from those days right. The win- defended. Nobody runs that but then in this audience. There's a good chance they're still a bunch of home service. Run out there rich You know I'm I'm I'M NOT GONNA lie. You know one of the things I never expected in twenty nineteen to still be talking about thirty two and sixty four bit applications like high. Hi Thought we were done. You know when we made the jump to sixty four and and on the Intel side anyway and I just thought God finally finally you know where everything's that's done that's a done deal enrolling forward in really you know with the advent of the arm processing which has struggled to get there with us right and it still is still not yet. Now it's ten is still not great and I kinda think we need to think through the complete architecture picture of everything from scratch and some some regards as kind of like you know. We are still trying to bolt on stuff to thirty year old operating systems. CBS and and I I really do think it Kinda is GonNa take a rethinking of our devices. Now I think that rethinking is is on the. Is it the phone right. I mean I think when we think of android in IOS. I'd you know I'd I know Mac is doing. Is Apple's doing a lot. A lot of things to bring the MAC operating system the other by the way I think they found out. That's just as hard as Microsoft Co founded out with its own phones this you know Fono us and such but man I just Nazia struggling it. I think it's worse today. Understand now operating operating systems just work today so people don't struggle with them. I think as much as they used to ninety five ninety seven windows. Two thousand this figure you had to really know how to do things batch the files in the but I think there's more confusion today about what can and can't happen and I've got this and what can I do. And what can I do you. Can I run these things. It's not run them and drive a truck or car. You know it's just it's super confusing. I think the consumer is Kinda tired of having to figure some of that stuff out. I okay so my label of everyday users right people who just turn on their computer and use it like an appliance. I think the reason why this is becoming more obvious things like what Mike just mentioned right. So apple in Catalina has decided to drop thirty two bit APPs as we see more arm processors coming out because at the moment Intel's armed only emulates thirty two bit APPs it doesn't emulate sixty four bit so if you tried in fact at least they've taken a step now in the Microsoft Christoph Store and the window store on windows tinted mark APPs now. That won't work on that system and the kind of the jury still out on Microsoft's first I arm based windows truly surface. RT was arm based surface to was arm based surface. Three was arm based right surface..

Yeah. I do not. I have to say, I'm not proselytize. You do what you want? You be you. I'll be me. Anyway tip. I mean that was your tip duck done, which is a good tip or your brother. Now. It's time for Mary Jo's enterprise. Pick of the week. Yes. The pollen I both heard from people this week who've been wondering where windows server twenty nineteen is the isos for it in terms of being on the evaluation center. It's weird. It's it came out like months ago and people are looking to download it and try it and they're like, hey, it's not there. So I went back and looked at the windows server account on Twitter, and I found out right around Christmas time when no one was looking at Twitter they posted that when we started publishing the media for one hundred eighty day evaluation. We found an issue with it, and we are fixing it. So this was December twenty eighth I asked Microsoft this week where is windows server? Like, where's WALDO, where's windows server and? They said they had nothing to say or share at this time, whatever they say these days, but I couple of my contact said they believe the eyeso- for windows server, twenty nineteen will show up on valuation center in the in the next week or so so if you're looking for it, it should be coming in a week or so and what went wrong with the valuation media. I don't know they wouldn't say we call this evaluation center gate. Yeah, we can do. Yep. So that's my tip. Hang on. It's coming the ice. Oh for windows server, twenty twenty nineteen evaluation center mode codename. Yes. So we talked about the whole ends to for a moment. Earlier the code name for that is Sydney. Thank you, Brad. Sam's for financial that code name for us. And I saw Brad was chiding. Frank Shaw on Twitter today, saying why aren't you having the launch for hololens in Sydney since that's the key? Free. Yeah. But anyways, this is the code name for the next hole lens, which has Paul mentioned. It's kind of whole and three b because there was a whole ends to the cancelled. And that's part of the reason why there's been four years between hololens, right? There was supposed to be one. They decided not to bring it to market. I guess it wasn't improved enough. And so this you could call it hole into our whole three whoever you want count. But the code name for it. Regardless is Sydney. Didn't you get your invites yet guys? Yep. We got him. What time is when is the Microsoft event. We'll probably want to cover it. It's a. Oh, yes..
