"Frank Muir mighty to the executive team sure for the horsemen and the owners and the jockeys and the trainers. While for Frank, I'll say saving him a lot of not having to do handshakes which I know he likes. He was the innovator of fist pump site thinking Lo and behold I turn out to be pretty smart in that respect because I've always been a little bit of a Germaphobe not to the extent that frank is but you know during the winter seasons when everybody's not Coughing and sneezing and wiping their wiping their face. I mean you know it's germ festus frank would like to say so I think maybe those days of really embracing people once they're allowed back on track, we're probably going to adapt some of Frank's eighteen strategists in an elevator the elevator gail elevators tiny little box man. If you get more than one person there you're deaf, there's no social distancing that elevator. Might motivate frank to get a little bit more in shape and and stuff. So stares back and forth. What am I? Don't WanNa get too much into frank. One of my favorite things ever was when he was working at Golden Gate Fields I went up to visit him and I was just completely gas because you. To get there, you gotta go down to rip yeah you gotTa. Take all the stairs and through the backstairs and everything and I said, God I don't want to do that ever. Did he goes fifty seven steps buddy? Guest. Today grass and again it's just kind of to kind of give a compliment to frank. But also to everybody involved whether it's a jockey or announcer like yourself or you know frank make difficult things look easy and I think that's the true definition of a professional no matter what occupation or industry you're involved in I mean to some of the things that we take. For granted in terms of frank civility, you can literally do with his eyes closed for the rest of us. Mere mortals ninety, nine percent of US could never do it if we practiced it for fifty years and so it's an honor and a treat to have frank entree on-track. Obviously, he's doing a great job and I think it brings a lot of eyeballs and. Ears to to the sandy to simulcast signal because I, think a lot of other people around the country like listen to frank as well. You mentioned you know talking to horse players kind of the social aspect I wanted to ask some about your your position there to need as far as the VIP concierge position because I was wondering. Do you kind of stay in touch with a lot of your players throughout this pandemic and and kind of just check in with them. Constantly as a matter of fact, Jason, there's really no player that's either too big or too small. We can't take anybody for granted days, and of course, in my position, just equate it to be in a casino host, and so of course, the more you play the more benefits on the you know the more perks you'll get, and as you well know I'm able to be able to sell that concept with the Eddie Logan sweet which was maybe five or six years ago. It's on the clubhouse turn on the second floor it's a very private room where you need keep keep keep that access in order to Obviously there's a minimum requirement, but we built that room for one reason and one reason only, and unfortunately now it's not in not in use because of the pandemic but we've all learned through these eighty w day that the Amtrak channel is golden anything. That's not that on-track the track it's a smaller percentage and so in the city of Los Angeles and you can. Imagine with all the urban sprawl and all the traffic that people have to fight. We needed an incentive for players to come on track. It's very easy these days to wager on the phone or wager from home, and so we tried to build some Camaraderie Camaraderie in that room and it's become a lot of fun and yes, I keep in touch with all of. Those players if not on a weekly basis at least once every two week basis to try and check in with them make sure that they're healthy and make sure that be is there anything we can do for them while we're all undergoing this you know the difficult part of our lives but Bellevue back and I'm confident that they will be we still. Host, a lot of online tournaments that they can participate in when there's when there's tournaments where there's also bricks and mortar aspect to a lot of them come out and visit us whether it's in the Eddie Logan Sweeter up in the front runner restaurant. So we've built thankfully some good customer relationships and I've kind of been. You know one of the people spearheading that and. Know created a lot of friendships lung the way as well. You know I. I kind of it feels like it's a role that should be prevalent at most if not all race tracks and I really SA- does still see my kind of a unique role I just I don't get. It hasn't kind of spread a little bit more because i. AM. Yeah. I was GONNA. Sad commentary about our industry because unfortunately, you think back and you're old enough to remember this ten or fifteen years ago anybody who walked in the track was completely anonymous. You could be a two dollar better racer. You could be a two thousand dollar a veteran two thousand dollars. A race better, and the track had no distinction between who you are, and that's really one of the things I try to do when I actually created this position. I actually brought the concept to the management team at Santita and said, look you need something like this to to my knowledge. There were only two other people and maybe even that's true to this day that had similar positions betsy Christmas down del Mar Jim Goodman over at keeneland and like you said not only did Santa Anita need one but even to this day, most other tracks would benefit by having one as well. So You know they. They understood that concept and You know understood how valuable players were and I like to think like I said if anybody's listening to anybody who wants to come out to Santa Anita when we do allow fans their free, he'll feel free to reach out to me and I'll I'll make minimum you get box seats and free admission and if you're. A bigger size player we can talk about some of the other other benefits Anita can offer as well. Obviously to I I I feel like a lot of them probably share their questions, comments and stuff just about racing or or or what they need. What are consistent things you hear from horse players that they're Kinda wanting from an on-track experience and from a betting standpoint. Well it's a good question because we don't have enough time to. Answer that question adequately but nevertheless, I'll I'll answer it in a number of different ways. But I will answer it is it's unbelievable to be how much passion our players have for the sport because most of our players have full-time jobs and obviously family responsibilities and they eat sleep and breathe horseracing, and that is fantastic news because not only are they participating from a mutual standpoint but they WANNA see the game get better and so they're not afraid particularly. With me to share their ideas and likewise, I'm not afraid to share their ideas with the management team as well. Because at the end of the day, they're the customer and we need to listen to the customers and so they not universally and individually always share their ideas with me and a lot of times they can vary in difference. But one of the things they certainly talk about a lot is about takeout and I think stronach group generally speaking has. been very responsive to that, and I specifically point to a few things that we've done over the last couple of years of course, the introduction of the stronach five with a higher minimum and the lower take-up that pick five dollars thrown at five only as a out a twelve percent, and of course, it's a nationwide bet and that's the type of thing. The players want they want a little bit higher minimum so that you can't buy every race on. A budget and they WANNA lower takeout so that basically it creates a better pay a higher pat and that seems to make sense and that's a couple of things we did specifically in. Santa. Anita during the course of this most recent year, which was introduced the five dollar goal in our daily double, which linked the last race at San need a to the last race of Golden Gate. It's a dollar minimum and it's basically trying to capitalize Jason on the. Fact that we're the last major Thurber signal anywhere in North America of course los? alamitos..

"Guest is VIP player concierge and a television host and analyst at Santa Anita Park. Very happy to welcome time quickly to the show Tom. How are you? Jason you do great work. It's an honor to be on your show doing great. How about you? If I'm doing good the fall meet full swing of course, and most of the local Breeders Cup preparations I think out of the way down at. Santa Nina, how are you guys feeling about the the southern cal contingent that's going to be headed to keeneland and a few weeks. Way, not? Eighty, four th year of racing at Santa that's hard to believe. But of course, it's an institution, not only nationwide but perhaps worldwide, and of course, we always send a very strong contingency to the Breeders Cup and I think this year will be no exception I'm just thinking out loud. There's a couple of performances that I thought were very impressive. Might have been the most impressive in the awesome again, and likewise maximum security might have been the most disappointing at least up to this point improbable lag far back off the pace we had that incredible move one going away the very sharp. It's right now we want at Saratoga to racist back and so I think it's going to be tough to tough. To, handle in the breeders, Cup classic and the two year old filly division again for the Bob Baffert barn princess nor visually was very impressive relatively small field or jockey victor espionage. If you're the race was kind of pinned down, inside couldn't get out until the far turn. But when she did, she really looked very, very good having said that Jason unfortunately the speaker. Came back like Brad free from the racing form the after the race reported that she only earned the seventy five and says, it'd be interesting to see how the players evaluate that in the Breeder's cup juvenile fillies race at Keeneland the first first weekend in November, simply because visually she looked great. But from a Beyer speed figure standpoint, if you're at all a disciple of those numbers, the number came back. Relatively low. Yeah I think we had a couple conversations on this show about the whole I test versus the numbers thing and if you're if you're an eye test guy and you do like in a weird way, I almost think it's I I'd be happier that she got a lower number. 'cause you're probably going to get a lot of folks to jump ship and maybe your price gets a little bit better. Yeah. No, there was a big visually impressive later king this past weekend as well, and of course she's GonNa have the home court advantage. So I don't think prince nor is definitely going to be one of the favorites I. Don't think she's going to be done. But as you mentioned and we've seen this time and time again, one of the things I do from handicapping standpoint is I always evaluate horses coming out of the race and see what their competitors doing their next start. So if We see that some of the competitors that ran behind nor prior to the breeders, Cup come back and not only run well visually but also earned better numbers than perhaps that might that might make us question the number of the of the Chandelier stakes, which is the race that princess or one. So we'll see what happens between now and then but I'm kind of with you sometimes a low buyers be bigger or or really really bad performance can actually help you if you're willing to excuse that. You mentioned improbable and he's obviously stamped himself as a big contender in the in the classic. You know we're so used to seeing baffert horses similar to Prince Norodom show this really incredible talent right from the get go, and this is a horse that has been kind of a slow come around and. From what I've heard a lot of it was like mental stuff, right? Like he had some gate issues and I think some like nervousness issues, right? Well. The Good News Jason is your good friend Mike. Good friend, Frank. Muir. Mighty night after the race that particular day when they ran the awesome. Again, we were walking out to our cars in the employee parking lot because of course, unfortunately, no contracts are allowed. So there's very few people on track at the facility and as we were exiting for the day, only behold who? Do we run into but Bob Baffert and Bob Baffert of course was very complimentary toward the right the drain van. Dyke Games too improbable but I'll tell you what he was more issues issues of in his praise with the assistant gate starter for him probably because as he looked through probables career particularly at Saratoga and some of his previous races like you said, he'd get some mental issues. And he gets a little fractious in the gate. He doesn't really like standing in there and Bob Baffert was really complimentary after the again, saying that that gates start at the gate crew was very very instrumental in making sure that improbable didn't lose his head in the starting going so far as to say, maybe I, want to bring that guy with me to keeneland which, of course. Would not be allowed but nevertheless, that's that's how much thought that the gate crew led to improbable success You know a few weeks ago Santa Anita. I, almost wonder if the lack of racing fans has helped horses like like him just because there's obviously less buzz, there's less energy and a lot of his racist start right in front of the in front of the grandstand stamp. Let me give me one example because I think you and some of the listeners know that spend almost every race in the paddock. And went authentic was running in some of the preparations and San Benito during the time period when we when we were not allowing fans leading up to the Kentucky Derby or I should say the triple crown trail of course, we ran the same derby were honor AP deadbeat authentic and one authentic walk by me. You could hear a pin drop and there was absolutely. Nobody around me he was what I would call crazy 'cause eyebrows kinda rolling and his gears were twitching. He was looking all around. He was looking for something to get excited about and kind of freak out and there was nothing around. So I kinda made a note to myself that no horse run in front of one, hundred, twenty, thousand fans at Churchill downs on the. First Saturday in September this year I wouldn't have liked chances but the fact that there was nobody there basically, as you mentioned for the Kentucky Derby, I actually upgraded his chance a little bit because I think it helps him mentally so you're right I think some some horses it really doesn't matter right I think I think a lot of horse players like typecasting horses universally. Putting them all in one bucket I think that's a big big mistake and I, think for a horse like authentic ironically this year but having no fans might have led to that success take nothing away from his ability because he's a very nice horse. But nevertheless, I do think that maybe he didn't get as rattled as would be if it was a normal derby. Year. Have you gotten used to the being no crowded sanity because to me, it's still the best on-track experience in the country and I. I've been to damn near tracks. This point I imagine there's gotTa feel little something's missing right without horse players there. Well you're like me, absolutely, you're like me I've never met a racetrack I didn't like and I've been to many racetracks as well. But the main reason why I moved out to California in Nineteen eighty-six from my hometown of Chicago was basically, I fell in love with Santa Anita and I didn't get involved in horse racing until much later after that I was a weekend warrior and went to the track and much of that possibly could but Sandia really is a is a crown jewel but you know obviously, it would. Not Having ranging fans. Let's let's put it bluntly sucks yeah. I mean it just sucks and believe me Santa Anita wants to have racing fans Natan. It'd be our VP of marketing and the assistant general manager of on record within the last couple of weeks saying as soon as we can have fans, we want them but and this is kind of overlooked by the general public. Unfortunately, every county in the in the state of California has different directives and that's why you see different different operational roles at Los Alamitos, which is an orange county versus different operational Rosa del Mar, which isn't San Diego County versus different operational rules for Santa Anita which is in La County. In La county fortunately is the most aggressive right now with the covered restrictions, and that's what's preventing us from having fans on track and becks just going to the races as you well know Jason is a very social experience. Most of the handicapping you and I you has done before we can step through the front door. So it's actually a pleasure to kind of exchange ideas with you know, other handicappers, Kinda see what's going on in their lives and not having them right now is just it's just a bummer for everybody involved not only for me but for track announcer.

"And we are back and so this coming in right now and apparently we've got a fighter being brought up to succeed in the women's divisions. Now we have here frank mears daughter Bella Mirror, coming up I m may junkie that frankly bill is set for a pro made at the age of seventeen. This being went to in by Mike Bone a second generation of fires will be introduced to Emma may soon bill the daughter of former heavyweight champion Frank Mir, who has twenty seven fights down resume is set to make her professional debut. Bella has her first pro fight set for October and she'll be just seventeen years old. Monkey COA first management on Tuesday announced. It has has signed me to a contractor present her and help guide her footsteps as her father. So you can go check up here on Instagram Post here saying, this one is a big one. Please help me in welcoming seventeen year old lady Mir Levin who is Bill Amir to the first ground GMT family Bella Nabila Bellas happens to be the oldest daughter of two time heavyweight champion and I q shaping ever in the AFC Frank Mir. Now, here's the best part. Bella is regarded as the best athlete in Las Vegas male or female her training her for years, and well, she's making her pro debut next month sky's limit and Hughes to the Real Future of women's division everywhere I'd say, welcome to the FAM- but you've been family hashtag mayor, Hashtag Hashtag power. Hashtag fight like a girl. Oakland Sakala who spoke with emery junkie following announcer Frank Moore's debut. Bella. Mir's debut will go down on. October twenty two under the icon fights federation banner in Mexico Moore's opponent has not been finalized said, but she'll compete in the women's bands may division. Training Martial Arts for the majority of her life under the guidance reform. She's already had a glimpse of the big stage to having served as primary quarter percent when her dad fought against Javale back belts are to twelve in December two, thousand eighteen also for these who don't know. So. Frank Mir. was also making his debut at KFC as a bare knuckle fighting fighting championship fighter. You guys can't see here, but there is right on interview were I think they're in a pool party there at a pool, party and Frank Mir without his shirt on with a towel. Is just cutting a promo cutting this promo on the camera being like my daughter she's been thinking about this her entire life he's going to be great fighter meanwhile her daughter. Looks like he doesn't want to be there looks like she just their next door dad she's looking at her bad looking down looking like she's like we'll get the cameraman looking away. Like she doesn't look all amped up and I'm afraid right now that he might be placing her too much of a high pedestal. That might be too much me. What do I know? What do I know when I was that when I did do boxing A brother and we went to a camp. And the camps son. Had, a coach's son. His name was. So, job pets. He was a weird kid in the sense that he was thirteen year old boy. Competing the anchor circuits and the dude is jacked. The dude look like a proper freak of nature at thirteen years. Old Man while thirteen kids are you know eating pizza? Playing third fortnight and video games and stuff this kid man. Wanted takes off his shirt. He's like at the age of thirteen. He was already like life with seven. He's a thirteen year old five foot seven has a proper eight-pack no body fats at all. This kid looked insane. If any of you ever driving ball like dragon ball or my hero -demia. D like Diku or trunks, they take off their shirt and despite the spy like thirteen fourteen, fifteen years old maybe that's going a little bit too far there. They might be thirteen whatever. So these kids is underdeveloped teens they take off their shirt and they will object to the. Grill. Man. And that's how I reacted the pets and oh boy. So now I'm thinking about Bella, here Bill Amir how her group as was because. It might be really stressful. Stressful, you know having your parents be like a former professional fighter jet. Trainer a his dad was what does that and also? Like his dad ended the trading partner as meant are his coach is everything to him and so. Dang I would not like to know what it's like. To, have this type parents who really on you about sports because I'm looking interview right now and frank music and daughters all equates and she's the past she's going to change his vision, all other stuff and Bella. Might as well. Just be anywhere. She looks like she wants to rather be anywhere else but next door dad during this interview at this poll party there currently are now. In this kind of reminds me now let's get this Frank Muir. He's dead. He can do whatever the heck he wants his family. He gets a push like her l. his kids to be whatever he believes they should be whatever that's on him. Okay. I grew up at an agent household I gets I. Get it not not sporting terms of academia. But there's a movie that popped up on Netflix that I still believe has to be the most scariest movie I've ever seen as called. It's not call tiger parenting, but the story pretty much is about tiger parenting word follows three families. In in. Yeah. These super controlling parents. Who Pretty much like like their kids pretty much hate their parents by the end though because they're spending all this money, they're putting them like. Activities it is being super good at sports was priority academia whatever you're going to be going to be a millionaire once you if you overachieved in sports. I remember Benschop talked about it where he was saying that's For every. Great for every. Young. Athlete out there. There's a very, very, very, very few of them that end up being you know an Eli manning or no pain manning or a Tom Brady or Lebron James Around Rousey. Like, the the the A new program. So I am a huge fan of asphalt I. Adore La Check Basketball News every day. Every day of new remains, we'll talk what's going on I. Follow a bunch of athletes, a social media program social media's whether be fighter or a player or an analyst or Youtube who covers sports. And in these AAU programs, there's like. Twenty four kids there's been that got twenty, four, twenty five maybe stretching at thirty kids who are part of a you. In these talk thirty kids who are expected to be at the highest level in the in professional like an NBA. And among the twenty four to thirty kids that get invited to a youth camp. Maybe them. Maybe four or five of them, and these kids these twenty four to thirty kids. These are the absolute best high school kids out there. And among the top high school recruits out there only a handful of them actually ever ended up being super successful. Only it's Like, how many college teams are there? I haven't college teams in the NC Aa a WHO participate in the ended ably who participant in division. One how many of them? There are a bunch of teams are but two different conferences we got the big as we got a big West we got the PAC twelve year. And how many of them actually become major stars. In. The NBA level. Not that many..

"Akra professional maybe run that spent nearly two decades of forty-one-year-old made his debut in a fight at UFC thirty four in November two, thousand one. After if I want to start, he went on to go fight against Tim Sylvia and goes on his career, Antonio era and Brock Lesnar. Falling eight nearly fifteen year old the mirror belts and Miami back in twenty eighteen after losing his first who fights tiffin ego and Java yellow mirrored pick up a win over Roy Nelson through thirty one this past Tober and what would turn out to be his spinal may ballots nothing wrong having your last about Dan's woman all time greats in way Nelson is one of my favorite fighters to watch entering Nelson. But it doesn't have been a whole lot of commentary I think he has a career. In commentary or ESPN or he's ricky has a career definitely in terms of being an advocate for martial arts or a speaker for the main but I. Think, he's a grappler right Frank Mir initially in Okay Frank Mir for the most part in his immigration is known as a Jesus specialists or grappler because. The the appeal a frank. Mirror. What Ma'am so unique interesting was the fact that he was a heavyweight. Whose fighting style more closely resembles to that. Of A light heavyweights or even a Ouattara middleweights because the way how he moved around the octagon and his actual size and stature, he did not look like heavyweight. He always looked smaller than any headway he thoughts. He was a smaller guy all the time and then after losing to Brock Leser in their second ballots. Frank Muir started getting a whole lot of tattoos packing in a lot of weight and they started knocking out people and he's his arms are looked Ganic lascaux looking jack beside like a weird way going on like Frank Mir. Is he he had the second phase of his career. That's pretty much hard to distinguish between him and peak rake near peak breath mirror would go everybody. Then second fees Franken year would turn knock people out and no enjoyed second-phase a FRAC- mirror because he was really re looking. Any. Sort of like eating a lot he started looking bigger. The Guy He went from being the smallest heavyweights to this guy who looked like Jon. Hendricks in the form of a heavyweights. It looked weird man Italy did so good for him for you know he's still pushing to be a knock out artist I don't know what's up with Franken Mir but for some reason, he's avoided doing this one thing he's really really good at it in the gone and that's grappling. because. He's a better grapple than as a striker and to fighting now it made sense for patrons dance shins. Page Benzon is a better striker that she has rap ler but for Frank Mir. Him In it's like I don't know who's your pressuring him or we're all this pressure is coming from for frank be all of a sudden become this like big scary at artist guy. But you know. It's his career he can do whatever he wants to do. All right. Then if you want to do VK AFC and if you believe he's good enough to go knock people out or be people in a striking change. That's on him. He's making money from this. He's also do. He's probably also doing commentator job still for belter. That's on him. Good for you man. and. That will sell things now for the news brief, overall you have. COVINGTON versus Woodley. Overall. From top to bottom here. It. Was a fun show. It definitely was maybe I find enjoyment off the bizarre weirdness in coming timbers will lead and the presentation in the fight and the commentary team. Just, reading about in the build up also. Looking at the news right now apparently donald trump he just called Kobe dan rather the fights and we see Kobe Comington. He's wearing the had as random blazer but he's not wearing a shirt inside the blazer. So looks really ill-fitting. He's literally pink and red without the sunglasses. So you're seeing the icicle becoming thin like the sincere is Ram. Weird image really weird and I'm looking at twitter discussing UFC fight nights and Kobe Covington winning it really is pushing people away but. I'm to show now this coming by Horia Android Menaka okay. Let's politics out things for a moment here the president is as called. UFC fighter after victims considering how young the League is compared to others. That's an incredible moment for Dana White's and organization it certainly is certainly is a moment though but. There are a lot of people who are turned off by Kobe Comington and I don't believe Kobe come in I. Know that this character that's a stick talk son and that you're trying to make yourself obviously much bigger than they actually are, and that's the appeal of you I. Get it. But. Really. The same thing we show Sunday man like he pushes away people from want to go watch product chill sudden it took a long while for me to become a fan of show sudden buzz only after years of watching martial arts though I wouldn't be surprised if COMINGTON turns away those same people. So yeah. Kobe. Kobe Covington man. He had a good showing against time we'll be. Do I. Think he's GonNa. Fight Carl Lewis none or very much all anytime soon. Are Known. Lead owns but you know if I can only speculate from this woman on and I'm excited for Gabon Burns versus smart one that's a fight breaks out of war. But overall fight night COVINGTON's Woodley Fun Card Fun car I recommend everyone to go watch Nico Price. Rony. All the ending is kind of fishy the fighting itself superfund and it's always fun watching somebody like Niko Price Win lose draw. He's always in a good mood and he he was he was even able to go McDonald's Caroni a guy who looked really pouty by the end of the fight smile and giggle himself. So that speaks words what I personally co prices Nico Price Very Person. So exhausted Ernie and seeing these great fighters go at it's much more enjoyable than the main events and I wish nick price results only was the real men events. And that brings to a close to say thank you. Thank you for listening to the GS MCI MMA podcast brought to you by the.

Guess and to me it's you know this is. I. Think pneumatic at least at this point is in the right spot I have no doubt that they're gonNA. Try them in in the Derby and see if he can make that move forward but. At least as of now, I don't think he's quite there but I guess you can't forecast some improvement We'll see what number he gets out of the race but. Overall just I think a workmanlike win at a level that's pretty far below especially the. The, top ones the. His, the laws, the art collectors and stuff like that. I mean that's going to be a way way different ballgame than our con and Hey seuss's team who obviously nice. But just you know. The Derby ones, they just breathe a little different air than the the good ones so to speak. So Woodbine had a big afternoon going on. Up In Canada the bold venture the woodbine Oaks in the plate trial that going on the bold venture. It was pink Lloyd Looking For Career Win Number Twenty? Five. "Would you like a real serious episode like someone would get involved with drugs or somebody I growing pains, they're they're serious. One that I really remember was Carol's Boyfriend Sandy. Who I think was Matthew Perry. Who eventually became famous on friends? He got in a car wreck when he was drinking and driving, and they went to the hospital and he was bumper. Bruised up okay, and then they got they left, and then they found out that he died, and you learned the consequences of drunk driving. It was it was a very good and then, but the all time greatest is the fresh prince of Bel Air, where Will Smith's real dad comes in. Or a kiss characters, real dad and then leaves. It's like the most powerful seen in the history of sitcoms wills there with his uncle Phil. Unbelievably good. Don't you start pouring rain outside? I bought the since I got this new Mike. A few months ago I've noticed that the nice. The Nice thing about it is. It doesn't pick up much. Outside noise like background noise, which is great because I move around my chair, a lot, wiggle or lot at the desk a lot and I noticed. It's greatly reduced that the only bad part of this Mike is you have to get right up on it and you have to talk pretty loud, and so I've noticed my voice getting. Sore since doing this I tried turning up the volume a little bit last week, and adjusting my levels and got some great feedback from you guys about that. Really appreciate. Hopefully. This leads to a more quality professional broadcast so lots to look back at this weekend. seem like Saturday. That is coming up so very excited for this week of shows should also mention that before we get into recapping the weekend races the announcement that Charlatan is off the Belmont trail. Are we calling it the Belmont trail now. I guess it's still the Derby trail, but yeah yeah, taking forty five days off and won't make start in the Belmont or the Kentucky Derby and according to trainer Bob, Baffert, possibly the preakness, apparently a little bit of filling in his ankle, and the Arkansas Derby Champ were actually both Arkansas Derby Champs now off of the I mean Nidal retired of course and. Charlotte off, so the Belmont and Kentucky Derby. I mean major major changes in the last couple of weeks which I suppose we're bound to have. More I guess more defections just because there's more time for defections. And if that makes any sense or not in my head, it made sense when I thought about it before I, said it, but we shall see of course but baffert still with authentic. who was the headliner for the Santa Anita Derby, which was going on. "Back here on the HR P. Looking back at the weekend that was and we head over to. The Great Race Place Eric Santoni to trade it in minimum you hear the honeymoon stakes great three on the grass, and this was a fun exercise in pace, handicapping and I-. I, PAT myself on the back three strides out of the gate because it was one of those races where. You had to completely known speed entities horses that we're going to go to the front and other than those two. There was no speed. And so I kind of talked about on Friday show like. What are they gonNA either a hookup? Let's see if we can beat the other one, and hopefully hold off the closers, or would one of them yield in one of them yielded favouritism in this race going the way of The number nine Stella Star who I think I liked I kind of like coke. The most and still star was my other one talked about I think also mentioned Red Lark as well but. My my thinking was it was either egging to shape up where the two of them really go out and get each other or one's GonNa let the other one go and the one who let the other one go. Generally those when they have to come off the pace, those type just aren't as good, so I thought well I'm GonNa live. Four seven nine to pick them up. So let's listen to what happened in honeymoon. Stakes Frank Muir call. And there are. Laura's light shows her natural speed and is able to clear off immediately. Park core in the center of the course is also fast and as expected. These two were one, too, but they don't appear to be going very quick at all that it's fashion royalty in third and Red Lark, Ford. This par-. Parker plays. Catch me if you can and widens deleted by seven or eight links. Laura's light patiently handled in second four clear fashion royalty on the inside of Red Lark Stella Star is by herself. Link to in front of KP, dreaming Crocus second to last and then Gt. They're heading to the half-mile pole in the honeymoon. Stakes and Hall of Famer Mike Smith has par core on a huge lead double digits, Laura's lightest second by two and a half fashion royalty is in third and then read Lark Fourth Gita is going for an early bid while three wide into the far turn and crooked bulk will follow her. With three furlongs to go, then it Stella Star, also moving up the green. KP Dream in his last. They have a quarter of a mile to go. It's been all parker so far. The lead diminishing down to three Laura's light coming after from second Giti in the Turquoise colors outside Red Lock Croak finding her best pride in the center of the course, and she is coming fast here comes Croak of Oak on the outside, and she is coming with a flourish has to get to Laura's light. "Really flexible and really athletic Not able to do a lot of these things. Yeah I read that you can still do the splits at fifty two. Which is that I. Do I interview Randy Guitar? Or but he has a great gym called extreme tour his son Orion get sore trains. Me and I have achieved code so I do a little bit of training and I just do some cardio. Stop Stretching and stuff like that but it's really important as you get older to remain flexible and to keep your body moving route to prevent injury hangups dining shocked to kill myself a million times a during the show so. I'm just always trying to be like focused and in the moment and you know hypersensitive to being physically set. How did you get into you? Know Magic like what at what point in Your Life. We like. This is it. This is my career. Because you gotta say it's not a lot of kids don't grow up. I'm going to be a magician. They're not that stupid. I was. I was six. My installers showed me a car trek and I was obsessed with magic in the power that gave you as a young kid when adults didn't understand how you were doing accomplishing certain things. And by the time I was you know. Let's handle Evans. Twelve years old. I was performing private parties on my bicycle as playing in bars by barely fourteen. Was You know Fridays? Incites could never get away with it today but in New York as to go into bars and closer magic I always knew this is what I wanted to do. Always had a big dream took me eight year. Eighteen years to become an overnight success but never gave up and no matter what it is. You want a life you just have to put that sweat equity in put blinders on believing yourself. No one else does. Don't waste your time on. Social media was seen to negatively breeds. Nothing positive and eventually can happen. You just gotTa really really you got to really be able to believe it envision it you know yeah. I have a very important question for EFI. Like good. Went lead off with actually is magic real Now I'm an entertainer artist. I use a lot of things that I'd be are real because I try to blurred line between reality and like when I hang by four fishhooks through my back from a helicopter over the Valley of fire or hang for six hours of It's real is no pain medication. No numbers nothing. When Frank Muir chocolate Dell or Ryan Aranda tour or Or who else will my missing Pge Van Zandt when a punched me in the stomach You know as hard as they could That was completely real. That wasn't like some type of tricks. So I do do tricks. And allusions Really can't fly unlimited. Even though I do it in a way that's never been done I try to blurred outline and let the audience determine what is real and what is oddity. It's a bit more fun for them to be able to determine what is what were you nervous when you got punched in the I mean. That's Houdini got caught right. Well that's what I was doing. I was kind of paying homage because Houdini in his day in age said that he could take any man's punch in a couple of college kids soil. Houdini after a show they were like. Is it true Mr Houdini Take any man's points news like yes you can prepare. Welcome and essentially Ruptured his appendix and on Halloween in Nineteen Twenty six. He died of So I wanted to do that. And today are fighters are way more scientific stronger faster and I just thought it was even more difficult to do that test today than it would be. You know nearly eighty years ago or something so I got you know. Ufc Champs you know and and Just wanted to see However however however I would have had a wreck reacted excuse me and and it was definitely An interesting experience. Frank Mayor is like two fifty or something bad and he hit me the first time he's holding back and I said you can't do that because it just doesn't look believable and I wanted to be legit and he like look that media site you got this look at this. I and I was like Shit. He is let loose and he was just here. Actually before. This whole thing went dow-. Hbo Cobra Virus Ucla Training at my gym with him in order in his coach so But he he chocolate del end and And and they all they all they all hit hard when you get a free shot. You know it's definitely something. I'm concerned about but leave the techniques. So I I was hoping it was going to work and it. I have talked with those Basically his knuckles in my in my stomach like he just stood there the the after effects or like a few hours. You just like this big red mark of his knuckles. It was so how do you do it? How you how'd you take? Its muscle control reeling distance. It's like commonsense things that you just have to feel really confident about when you put yourself you know literally at the end of somebody. That's a high level athlete like near their punch. You know so just practice. You know so you you looted to a second ago but you worked for eighteen years before because you said becoming an overnight success but at some point along the way I'm sure there was some discouragment some encouragements. What was one point where you're like? I can do this for a living. I can be extremely successful. Well I knew I could do for a living when I was a teenager because I was doing. Like twelve birthday artie. So weekend or is doing firehouse shows. I've played at windows of the World. I was in corporate events and I was also playing with my banning clubs so I knew I could do it for a living but I was just miserable performing you know as a babysitter basically doing magic for kids birthday parties and I never was happy with it so I just figured I would take that leap. Because it wasn't about money was always about living my dream. You know you get one life you have to choose how you live it so I just really were hard in just one for and it just it when your different than you're not like everybody else it? It's more difficult to succeed. But once you succeed in everybody like kind of copies you because you proven a road that can work and you pave the road so it was a very very difficult process. But once I along the way saw certain indications you know because there was no one big thing that really happened. It was a small small things that evolved and transformed into a big thing but it was a series of small breaks that allow them to get the big great which was really my mind. Free Television series. You know on a I need act in two thousand and five eight three specials before that I had a six hundred shows on Broadway and forty third on its at the. Wwe McMahon's aid me a break back in two thousand two thousand one. So and I still. I still work with today. You know Stephanie Band and triple H or call with was hanging with me. A Probably two months ago or something so it was a series of a lot of things were you can never give up. That's the one common ingredient you know you just gotTa work hard. Doesn't matter if you want to be the best basketball player anime guy football play you never can give up and you just have to put that time in. If it were easy everybody would be successful. But the It the harder it is to achieve something the greater the reward. So you have the world record in a couple of things and I want to just walk through them to like. Explain the level of panic or how you mentally got over it. So the first one was you were submerged underwater. And had the fastest time to escape from a straitjacket at two minutes and thirty seconds. How the hell do you train for that? And was there any moment where where you're like? Fuck I'm underwater for two minutes and thirty seconds this socks. I'm going to die right. I did over a thousand demonstrations on TV alone. And so so I think you're combining to different things but let me take one each one so I was the first Guy New Young Award. Twenty four hours. I did it in Times Square at the wwe and on Good Morning. America lie to hide everything And so I only was underwater for twelve hours in friends pool to see 'cause I didn't have money back and I want to see if I could do twelve hours and I came out. I was able to do it but I might. Skin drive me crazy. Because of the chlorine it's strove me not sweet. So when you say you're you're under your in like one of those clear boxes underwater. Yeah basically I had Houdini water. It was like a phone booth filled up with water and I always underwater for the very first hour upside down with eighteen pounds of chains and I was recreating what Houdini Did in y you know. Short time I wanted to do for twenty four hours so the first hour I was upside down the remaining twenty three hours right side up but I wasn't really prepared. I didn't have the money in science. United site just forced it S- and Y'all have a permanent scar on my nose because the mask or away and it was the most miserable experience you can imagine but I did it and it served its purpose. And then the one that you're talking about. I didn't tying swear in it was Got To straitjackets. I wanted to be the first person to try to straitjackets at the same bullshit. Straitjackets you get that you see. Everything inherited these magic using lake. Legitimate Cozy straitjackets. I two of them. I worked with Randy tour these Jim because I wanted him to. Constantly choked me out. I wanted to know what it was delights. What signs would be to know when I was going to go on conscious because the idea was not only going to have to straitjackets on I was going to hang upside down above twenty thousand people? You KNOW THIRTY THIRTY FEET. Thirty stories up and essentially have fifty pounds await basically hanging from one end of a rope. The other end was in new surround my nap and so I had to be very gingerly. Getting that straightjacket up is I was fighting against myself. If I moved a lot the news would get hydro at fifty pounds. I would pass out go unconscious and I wouldn't have been able to accomplish my mission so I had to be very methodical Randy tour and you any out a bunch of times. He talked about the crowder arteries. I did turn my neck and different different techniques and essentially on got that I first jacket off to the point that I could get the road with my teeth. Offer my mouth drop the way everything off and then I got out of glass jacket but I did pay a small Christ side ripped my bicep off of my phone. Complete Ariza.

"Many times he was. He was the trainer who got mad at me for calling his horse. Spring Dream I called. It brings spring. He called up a Nissan. You call the horse the wrong name serum so sorry. It was my first year so I was all nervous then. We got in a little tiff so happy for Doug though I I've moved on clearly. I'm not holding a grudge that I'm still telling the story. Thirteen years later. So congratulations to dinner for his victory. And then Bango took the animal kingdom stakes coming from just off the pay sad good stocking trip at six to one so a little bit of upset there but overall a pretty form day at Turf Way Park. Some of the early races Most of them one by short price or couple of five or six two ones but nothing nothing too crazy going on over there at turf way. Jeff Ruby the stakes day now in the book so over to Santa Anita where the beholder mile was the feature event and I was looking forward to this race to see what hard not to love would do on the stretch out. I just thought the last couple times. They were so impressive. Her off the pace close in kick in those one. Turn sprints now. We know that that does not always translate to turns and often horses kicks are diminished with the elongated distance. But this seemed like a reasonable stretch a good place to test the horse's ability to turns. And when you were three to five grade one you got to be not too upset. Let's take a listen back frank. Muir Montes call up the beholder mile there then the beholder mile. Cc COMES OUT DIR. Lewis setup for the lead hard not to love Alami Inside is also up with the pace to and Mike Smith lets her go to the front hard not to love will lead them dern Lewis in second there followed by Ali's candy racing third about four lengths off the leader down at the rails. See outside of her and Katie Trae as far back onto the backstretch and it's the favourite hard not to love leading by length blue. And then all these candy and CC. Cc is now only just two lengths off the lead four wide but getting closer down at the rails. Usha a distance K. D. trae. There's a half mile to go in the beholder mile with hard not to love showing the way three quarters of a length to Ali's candy. Cc inches up on the outside Dir. Lou Back to fourth than exertion K. D. Trae three eighths to go hard not too long. Cc Now comes with a big challenge on the outside hard not to love CCC squaring off with five sixteenths of a mile to go two and a half to Ali's caddying third and there followed by Zucher. Top of the stretch on the outside puts her head in front hard not to love his ass to respond but CCA's loaded with furlong ago and she's just cruising hard not to love is back to second then. It's all these candy and Third Sixteenth Pole and cece pulls away for an authoritative win and the beholder mile. Ccn Victory Spinoza by almost three so cc. With a huge huge win. She her her career debut was monstrous and she got one. Oh one figure second time out. She gets beat by Lady Ninja short price but they get one hundred speed figure stretches out in the acorn which you remember was a pretty salty race Korana seren. Getty empress You know and others gets beat okay. Going back to your comes back at West runs huge last time out at a short price and completely lived up to the building. I mean this was just a really awesome impressive effort right at that four to one morning line hard not to love as I mentioned broke sharp and makes just went with that. Cut The corner and was on the lead. Of course this is. A Horse has had a huge off the pace kick now. You know if you're able to get forty five and threes pretty quick so you know it's not like it to me. It seems like the Horse was doing a little bit more than she would have in previous starts. But it's also hard to not just take lead like that when it's kind of given to you but Lou is not a off the pace type so that is able to go a pretty honest clip and hindsight I would've loved to see hard not to love. Let go and kind of you know. Because they was a few clear of everybody else. Let that one go and then you go to. The outside was not meant to be in. Cc Hard not to love kept battling. I mean it was three and a half legs back to Ali's Candy. Who was then three and a half links ahead of Katy trae. But I would've loved to see how this played out with hard not to love coming from off the pace but it's again with that inside draw and a good break. Maybe it's just hard to to not go with but has a real force in very impressive performance by this one who had given not a whole lot of reasons to give up on like. I said she's run. Three dynamite races in one just not great race against some of the best. Just your third starting by the way that was you know nine months ago so came off the bench firing and Mike McCarthy who's been on a very very good run over the last couple of seasons guides. Cc to a very very nice win in the grade. One beholder steaks last race. I wanted to mention this is somewhat of a friendly shoutout. Cj Johnson. We've had on the program a few times over the years back when he was with Kentucky downs. He we talked to him. I was I was in Houston driving back from Florida so that would have been end of November last week in November. He had sally skirling in who? In fact it was November. Twenty eighth was the race and she didn't do much running at Churchill. She was making her return in the Hurricane Birdie at ten to one. I'll just play the last little bit of this. There was video from sieges account Him and a group of guys that had gone over the rebel stakes rudeness went home. It was pretty awesome to watch so wanted to give a shout. Pause for the cause has delayed and a Jock. Opoku looked over his shoulder to see where the competition is. He's got to have a smile on his face. "Listing KNX in depth I'm rob archer along with Charles Feldman you know we have stared down many a crisis in the history of this country we have a civil war true world wars equal rights all kinds of things civil rights but nothing and we mean nothing will compare to the crisis brought on by a possible French fry short I have chills inside and yes there is we could be headed to this disaster potato growers from northern midwestern states and Canada are warning of a really bad year for their crops in specifically the larger type some spots which favored by French fry makers this comes at a time when French fry demand is as high as ever Frank Muir is president and C. E. O. of the Idaho potato commission exactly how big of a crisis are we staring down the barrel of Sir well obviously my my goal is to try to minimize some of your fears as I I would hate everybody to protest in the road system so let me tell you a little bit about Idaho Idaho represents about one third of all US potatoes harvested and this year we harvested about three hundred eight and change trailer eight thousand acres of potatoes that's down of slightly from there the year before so we were already can be down a little bit but over time yield per acre tend to go up but what hit this this year was some under really frosts so we had a little bit of early frost in June but the big frost hit us in the Canada early mid part of October for about three four days and at that point about fifteen percent of the one five fifteen percent of our crop was still on the ground so you know that's a problem you don't wanna have your pick potatoes in the ground when it's freezing because that basically destroys your potatoes are frozen there's time to freeze potential but it's not thank you so so from that fifteen percent we estimate about five to thirty percent of those acres had some pretty significant damage but the one thing I want to kind of have to write alleviate some of your fears is even with that that taking that the top off our crop we still in Idaho harvested about thirteen billion pounds of potatoes not to mess with the B. to just put in perspective now you know we we play the famous unobtainable and Albertsons stadium where the Boise state Broncos play and if you took that thirteen billion pounds and you put it in the in the end and in the Albertsons stadium you'd go from end zone to end zone one mile high so we got a lot of it is we still are really.

"It doesn't really take a broader view which is unusual circumstance out. Somebody say we shouldn't run race faster. We did won that race faster. We probably cost ourselves. Records records a million dollars now and i'm probably being concerned but we did run the race faster. We ran five minutes or more before post on <hes> we don't we could be the best. Here's the perfect situation no but i but i you know it it tracing things happen crazy weather and doing the best we can under the circumstances things went pretty. Well not perfect but pretty well. No it was what you could do under the under the circumstances but the reality is maybe it takes something like this to addresses situation that should be addressed but if to activate running races in utter darkness. I mean see people. Don't realize that are watching on t._v. Because it doesn't look on t._v. but paul and i were in the paddocks we both turned around and we're like god. It's pitch blackout. The funny thing is it was it was pretty obvious later another twenty minutes later after the race and as as we waited for the alabama once once the once the rain let up all of a sudden it was much lighter half an hour later it was this was an extra <music> out later ten minutes later. I remember all i could actually see but it was little raising hitch black looking out behind the studio and i think that's absolutely and i think that's probably one of the reasons that i think about it. That people were is confused by what happens where because the <unk> be watching on television or watching online loyd and they're seeing it appears to be lighter and it's funny because this came up with frank muir body when he's calling it aquit and i remembered there was the last race which involve the picks carryover and i think five carryover with three horses to wire together and they want him was mobridge and moberg came up short ring a bell back and aquitaine doc in november beginning december. I think ghana's won the race up the rail with a horse big price and frank completely missed mobridge and you was one of the favorites you knew it was coming from back packers making this big run and franken pick him up really late. I called him and i said frank you know <hes> you miss mobridge and he said you don't realize that you can't see up here. Guard out. You're watching on t._v. Because i'm usually in my office watching that late today you will always i'm not the best boxer up you know in the now and then i realized oh i actually did watch a racist. I realize it gets you. It's hard to see if you're watching it and frank's knock knock calling the raises off tv and it's a situation that i think that people don't appreciate how much darker it is in real life watching tv anyway anyway. Let me we got about <hes> six minutes and i wanna hit a couple of quick points that we've missed. There's a horse sandy that nobody is talked about among the two year olds. Nobody nobody i have held. You heard anybody talk about his law..

"You'd like to think that you got similar results where you would have gotten a fast track. Of course i will never know we saw the freemen logical run one-two-three so i don't think you can say anything. The track was played a role in it. You know i know a lot was made about the photo situation elation faranoff in in in the lake placid and it does bring up a situation of the fact that there aren't lights on the turf horses and the only reason we have that act and i think is is it used to be dirceu spinner course right so <hes> that's why they have them in need of course the other thing is the only tracks that we ever really really one when it gets getting dark is accurate up as well right now. You don't approach it and yes. It's a situation that should be addressed. No question about it and i understand people's frustration having said that it wasn't that he i know appeared to almost everybody watching the you know the this lomo that <hes> the paul pompa wars <hes> won the regals learn bob but it was very very close. I don't think anybody could say with absolute certainty that she did and stewards following the rules number one fortunately and i don't like to use results. You know to justify situation. I'm not justify it fortunately in this case eight to five and a two to one we're involved and it wasn't a twenty two one and four to five right so i that mitigates somewhat situation. Obviously it should be addressed and i'm sure it will be addressed but i've been coming over forty five years. I don't remember a race being darkness. No no it's a bizarre once-in-a-lifetime incident lifetime things and i'm not i'm not trying to anyway suggest that it was a perfect situation and i don't think any of us would but you have to sometimes take a broader view and you know sort of dot surprising but overreaction by people you know it doesn't really take a broader view which is unusual circumstance out. Somebody say we shouldn't run race faster. We did won that race faster. We probably cost ourselves.
