"Operating under a continuing resolution at last year's level the pentagon is losing losing over three billion dollars a month in purchasing power the world is in flames we have a war in europe we have a war in the middle east we have cheap jeeping threatening taiwan and the congress hasn't passed and now we're worried about another c r and we've got a fund israel the united states needs to basically do whatever it takes politically diplomatically financially and frankly militarily to basically protect the state of israel and frankly i'm really disappointed in in curvy who i great have respect for you never take anything off the table militarily and if lebanon and iran try to escalate the united states should make it very clear and i think one of the reasons we have a carrier ballot group in the the eastern met is so that if they try something uh... they will pay severe consequences and so while you may not certainly won't boots on the ground we certainly have a lot of capability uh... if Iran or Hezbollah uh... or serie or anybody else starts during the pot but my but chairman mccall is is legitimately and should be concerned but i think uh... there's some would be some counters to that over talk to me more about that uh... the idea of projecting american power with a carrier strike group is snot unique but in this case are we providing command and control operations we actually standing by feeling a fighter jets in case something happens here this is clearly not an air war yet we have tremendous command and control in the middle east because we've been operating in the middle east for years we've had you know uh... uh... air air command and control uh... through many wars and through many uh... operations we got that now we've got major based operations there so we have to manage control capability for our forces and we certainly are in a position to share needed information with our allies and partners like israel so uh... and and you know there were some additional capability frank kendall the secretary of force the in a public session at the atlantic council yesterday mentioned that uh... we're taking a beat -up presence with fire in other command -and -control elements in the middle east so the united states is doing the right thing putting more force on the in the area when you hear that the ike is now steaming that way as well we're talking about two carrier groups here general this is an enormous amount of firepower were sending to that part of the world when you start looking at the in here does it point to iran well certainly i think you know you don't need to have access to how it's classified information to understand that iran has basically organized trained and equip hamas not just in the last couple of months not just in the last year but for decades certainly hezbollah and certainly the hoodies and other terrorist groups so iran is at the root cause of all these problems in frankly they got to the point now where they got over ninety percent some people say close to ninety five percent enriched uranium we're going to have to deal with iran at some point and so they are they are the basic root cause of all of the issues going on right now with hamas jake sullivan at the white house national security adviser says the u .s. does not have specific information linking iran to this attack the chairman mccall did did make that reference earlier and he made a similar point that you did if if you're a citizen of the world you're aware of this relationship is calling on the administration to quote unquote refreeze of the six billion dollars that were part of this prisoner swap how important will it be general for the white house for the administration to provide evidence or the government of israel for that matter to provide evidence to show that link between hamas iran and this attack well I probably may be in a minority but i don't think it's important at all everybody knows iran's behind this they've been going after the united states since they took our hostages when jimmy carter was president we know that they're the most maligned actor know we they have huge surpluses because of this sailor oil which was supposed to be sanctioned but the sanctions operated i take that six billion dollars and i'd give it to israel iran shouldn't get that money uh refreeze it hell give it to israel put it in the supplemental let's talk about the supplemental it looks like it could be a combination of funding for israel for ukraine for the border and for taiwan does that slow things down in your mind should there be a more well correct approach i i certainly uh... would be in favor of packaging it all -in -one but i know there are a lot of people on the hill and i track the hill as rick and jenny do that that don't want to do that but what the number one thing right now is we have got to get what israel needs to basically come up off the face of the earth so that's number one job one we also need to ensure that putin it does not succeed in ukraine we need to deter uh... to as she didn't think these are the and we need to secure our own borders look at what happened in israel over the weekend and when their borders were not secure uh... whether it can package it all up in one big lump sum that certainly would be the right way to do it uh... but the congress has not shown me uh... in recent years or recent months that they their have act together on anything the congress is about as broken as i've ever seen it is ridiculous that we're talking about more c r's in the world's own plane so congress needs to get off their death and do their job well i'll tell you what last time you were here we were talking about tommy tubberville's blockade against military promotions now we're talking about a world without a speaker which will need to change if any of this money's going to be appropriated general we spent some time this week talking about the div the defense industrial base and concerns about even if monies are appropriated weapons systems are ordered for the likes of israel ukraine and here in the u s in terms of replenishment that we can't simply make the stuff fast enough what is the white house what is congress do about it well joe unfortunately the situation is that our defense industrial base which was consolidated after secretary of defense bill terry had the last supper and the way the d .o .d. structured their buying habits of our industry has been consolidated and we don't have sufficient industrial capacity to support our own national defense strategy either the one that was put in place by trump or the one

"Humanitarian means whatever the Iranian people needs. So this money will be budgeted for those needs. So when we need to come and try to kill you, that's what we need. That's humanitarian. When we need to try to wipe Israel off the map, that's what we need. That's humanitarian. And the needs of the Iranian people will be decided and determined by the Iranian government. Exactly. And we've decided that what they need is a nuclear warhead. That's on a blend of a ballistic missile. That's what we've decided. Thank you very much, Joe Biden, for the opportunity. Thank you. All right. 13 to the hour live from Studio 6B. So as we said, Joe Biden running around the world talking about China, this China, that I'm not against China. And I want China to succeed financially and not against China and want them to succeed. And they're having a tough time right now. And this is not about China. We want to be all on the same page and all this other stuff. And we have, of course, all the wrong people in this administration. At all the wrong time to deal with this world, especially China, that's on the move everywhere. Building islands, moving in close to the United States, putting police stations in New York City, spy balloons flying across the country. Buying up farmland. Buying up farmland. You've got Chinese nationals pouring across the border. God knows who they are. And the administration just wants everything to be all hunky dory with China. Biden thinks because he spent supposedly more time than anyone else with him, which who knows or who cares if that's true, probably not, that everything's going to be just fine. And China is going to be, you know, whatever. Put up my screen, Aaron, to this headline on this piece today out of the Washington Free Beacon. Air Force secretary says Intel couldn't be clearer. China is preparing for war with the US. Someone should send that message over to 1600 Pennsylvania. Because I don't know if Joe Biden not only reads the Free Beacon, I don't know if we can even read, but I don't think as any of his people probably read it either. So maybe the air, that's good, maybe the Air Force secretary could send that over to 1600 because Frank Kendall said yesterday that China is preparing for war with the United States. And this is why who's the guy that China specializes in? Gordon Chang continues to tweet out and say things that scare us because he sees this coming as well. And Frank Kendall says today the intelligence couldn't be clear. Whatever his actual intentions may be, I cannot say, but China is preparing for a war and specifically for a war with the United States. He stated at the Air and Space Forces Association Air and Space Cyber Conference. Kendall went on to say that China for the last two decades has been re optimizing its forces to compete with the United States in the Western Pacific. The Air Force secretary's comments come in the wake of President Joe Biden's Vietnam visit, during which the president said that China's economic problems make the country less likely to invade Taiwan. I guarantee you that's just something he came up with that nobody actually gave him that to say. Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher, by contrast, said Monday that China's internal problems could cause Chinese President Xi Jinping to become even more aggressive, which of course makes way more sense. Then all of a sudden he's going to become this passive because he has economic problems. Nobody knows what truly goes on there economically anyways. They cook the books, they print the money, they devalue the currency to make it whatever they want. Xi told the Chinese military last month to speed up its modernization and combat readiness following several months of intensified military exercises. Numerous war games after the past several years have reportedly shown that the US military is unprepared for war with China. There is no doubt about that fact. And that should be a fact that scares everybody, should be on the wave the red flag here warning for everybody. Kendall emphasized the necessity for the Air and Space Forces to increase their ability to project power, as well as to deter an invasion of Taiwan. Speaking on the 22nd anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, Kendall said, we must be ready for a kind of war we have no modern experience with. We've been talking about this on this show off and on. As I've said till I'm blue in the face, all the wrong people at all the wrong time to deal with China on the move. Building islands specifically for use by their military. Spy balloons flying over the country. Chinese nationals pouring into the country. Stealing of our intellectual property forever. The invasion at colleges and universities, students, professors, spies everywhere. And Joe Biden talks about them like he's their best friend. Though I will push back on one thing you just said there. The stealing of our technology and stuff. They don't steal it. It's given to them. They buy it. The Clintons have been known to do that stuff. Since they started this whole thing. Since they walked into the White House. Clintons have been in bed with China ever since. So you want to see, you want to know why a Hunter Biden makes all those trips, all that money coming through. Guess what? They're buying technology, they're buying access, they're buying whatever they want because they've got all these guys on the hook. They've had it for decades. So, so that in the Washington Free Beacon today, it's on our social media. If you want to share it, because I just don't think there's enough conversation. I don't think there's enough serious conversation about that exact fact that they are preparing specifically for war with us. And I think this is what Gordon Chang continues to talk about and worry about. Because seemingly no one else worries about it. At least that you can tell from the outside. We send Janet Yellen over there, Raimondo over there, all they all think they go over there, bend the knee. And I mean, it just I mean, none of them are tough. None of them go over there and take any pro-America position whatsoever. Well, they don't even have to. I mean, they could stay here. They don't have to go there to take a pro-America position. They can institute certain policies like tariffs and really and certain things that will turn the screws on the Chinese. But they refuse to do it. Why? Because they're on the take. That has to be the only answer. It's not like they're good folks, folks. It's because that's they're getting money from over there. There are certain people that are getting money that are calling the shots and saying, no, you're going to give this to them. This is the deal we had worked out and we got to keep keep feeding it. You think about this Iran deal and where we are with Iran and you think about President Trump and you think about he had his proverbial hands around their neck, the position they were in, as he talked about, if he had gone back in for a second term, he would had a deal with them to never have a nuclear weapon. Now, Joe Biden is serving it up on a silver platter, almost helping you, freeing up six billion dollars. Where do you think that's going to go? Reek more havoc around the world.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke today at the Capitol for the first time since his latest verbal freeze which took place last week in Kentucky. Well Ms. Fred and I'm glad to welcome our colleagues back from the August work period. Joining us live from Capitol to Hill talk about the Minority Leader's health and the return of Congress WTOP's Mitchell Miller. Mitch has Senator McConnell specifically addressed his health since his return. Shawn. Obliquely On the Senate floor he smiled a bit alluding to that moment when a reporter asked him a question and he froze last week noting there was an incident that received a fair amount of attention as he said in the press. But he did say not anything specific about his health today. Separately his office released a letter from the Capitol physician however noting that McConnell underwent a battery of tests and it found no evidence of a stroke or seizure or anything linked to Parkinson's. McConnell spoke about a variety of issues on the floor today but it's clear his speech is more measured and a bit weaker than it used to be and it's clear that he's lost weight since that concussion he suffered earlier in the spring. But on the positive side he was welcomed back by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic Senator Dick Durbin he said looked forward to the chance to again disagree with him. Okay Mitch so the Senate is back. House doesn't get back to work till next week. What is the latest to try and avoid a government shutdown? Well right now Ann there's only one of twelve appropriations bills that have passed and that was in the House. Majority Leader Schumer and House Speaker Kevin in McCarthy agreement are that there's no way to pass all 12 spending bills before that October 1st deadline. So they want a short spending -term bill but while they're in agreement the House Republican Conference is not. Several House conservatives have said they are not on board with a continuing resolution so it's highly possible there could be a government shutdown sometime this fall if conservatives keep pressing for spending cuts that the Senate just won't go along with. Mitch also today got new pressure on Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville to release his hold on hundreds of promotions. military What's up there? Right, well the pressure comes from the leaders of the major military branches. This is very unique. Navy Secretary Carlos del Toro, Army Secretary Christine Warmoth, and Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall all have co -authored a column in the Washington Post. They say Tuberville is blocking military promotions over the Pentagon's abortion policy and that it's putting the nation's national security at risk. This is another sign that many are just getting tired of this hold by Tuberville, which has lasted more than six months now. But while Tuberville continues to come under pressure from lawmakers as well, he's given no sign of releasing that hold. We'll have to see if there's any change the in coming weeks as the Senate gets back to work here on Capitol Hill. Thanks Mitchell. You bet. WTOP's Mitchell Miller. Now to the war in Ukraine, Russian TV is reporting Moscow's capture of the Ukrainian city of bakhmut, but despite the Russian claims, top Ukrainian military leaders say the fight there is not over, even though they still only control a small part of the city. There are also new concerns about the zephyria, nuclear power plant in eastern Ukraine. It was struck again during fighting between Russian and Ukrainian troops. This has been a recurring problem throughout the war. WTO national security correspondent JJ green was with us here with more on why this threat to the nuclear power plant is so significant. This is the 7th time this has happened since this war started on February 24th or 2022. The facility itself has been hit numerous times by rockets or shrapnel. And either the power was severed or the facility was deliberately taken offline. This situation today was a projectile fired by Russian forces were told that severed one of the high tension power lines. So the emergency generators had to kick in to power the facility. This plan provides normally about 20% of the power for Ukraine in quite a bit outside, but it's my understanding. It's not doing that at this time and hasn't been for some time. But it's still important to keep the power going there because there are several big nuclear reactors there. If they overheat, then a meltdown could happen. Radiation could escape and depending on which way the wind is blowing, it would spread. Big problem for Ukraine, Russia and the rest of the world. WTO's national security correspondent JJ green. The air force says it's looking at ways to better control access to classified information. Thousands of fighters, civilians, and journalists have died in the most brutal battle of the war. And that Russia is saying they've won that battle, but Ukraine is saying something different. Details now from national security correspondent JJ green. Russia's military and the Kremlin have bragging that they finally taken this city away from Ukraine, but this is not a definitive victory. Bach boot is in ruins, completely. It's a textbook example of how a thriving city was erased, which is exactly what the Kremlin said it was going to do. But now the Russian troops, most of which are the Wagner paramilitary groups say they're going to pull out of this place and that they've won. And it's just going to be left in ruins. Inevitably, Ukraine will take it back and rebuild it. So there is no real victory here for Russia, and as far as what Ukraine says goes today, they're going to encircle the city and they suggest they're well on their way to doing that. And in the process they're going to try to squeeze the Russian troops left there. So again, no victory for Russia and it could be a death trap for those Russian troops that are still there. To the war in Ukraine, the zephyrus nuclear plant in southern Ukraine lost its power supply for a time this morning. After a missile severed and external power line. Russia and Ukraine have been blaming each other for the outage. As we hear from WTO national security correspondent JJ green, disaster was narrowly avoided. It's been reconnected to the Ukraine power grid and this is a big deal. This plan. This is the 7th time it's been knocked offline. This power plant is not supplying power to Ukraine right now. It used to supply 20%, but none now I'm told. The problem is the nuclear reactors. They need to be cooled. And that's essentially the big deal there. That's why it's connected to the power grid to make sure it stays cool because people ask why does Ukraine matter? It matters, in part, not just because of this, but in part because if this place melts down, then there could be a situation where a nuclear fallout is spreading over Europe and perhaps beyond. "Probably miss It's time for Dana's quick five. Brought to you by Caltech. Mm hmm. All right. So let's see her a couple of things that we have all Decker's liver with me. I appreciate it. So the there's Alaska Volcano Eruption sparks a red alert. Volcanoes are this'd is, uh, came out of U. S. G s volcanoes. And this had to do with the great sick in Alaska's great second eruption on Wednesday, prompting the U. S Geological Survey did issue a red alert for the surrounding area because of all of the ash that flew up thousands of feet into the atmosphere, And they said that this volcano activity has picked up this year with places like Iceland. Island of ST Vincent, obviously and in Japan, what is driving the volcanic activity? Million dollar question aliens? No, I don't know. I really don't know. U. S Air force is going to cut turkey from 35 production and this is this is a Thief Service secretary nominee also signals he's not in favor of reducing us at 35 purchases, but they're gonna talk cut Turkey out from that production. On this is, according to the Air Force secretary nominee, Frank Kendall. Turkey was officially kicked out in 2019 under the Trump administration because they instead purchased a bunch of stuff from Russia specifically the S 400 air defense system in 2017. So Turkey's been a brat, and they've been wanting to have it both ways. They want to be in NATO, and they want all these NATO benefits. But at the same time, they also want a cozy after Russia. And so good. I'm glad that the administration is continuing with the previous administration did. This is a good thing. I like this common ground. All good things, right? I like that. That's what we should You know, there. There we are. The New York Times reports that once outraged Democrats are taking a quieter approach. A quieter approach as it relates to migrant Children. That's the That's the headline because all of there is no there aren't the articles are on the deep dive investigations from places like Washington Post were places like New York Times, and it's been noted that the coverage has significantly decreased even though The crossing has significantly increased to an all time high, mild coronavirus cases can lead to anti body protection for life, according to some latest studies. This is a big question that everybody has been having like. Do you have to get booster shots like what is it? But this, according to these studies from Washington University School of Medicine and ST Louis researchers think that the initial reports claiming that the antibodies fade away quickly. They didn't have all the facts. They said that their findings revealed that although the number of immune cells making antibodies drop once the patient healthy, they never actually totally go away. So lifetime immunity. Something to watch. Stick with us..

Whats Next for the U.S. Air Forces Next Generation Air Dominance Program
"I'm wondering if you can kind of go back and tell us what is next generation air dominance, and where did that program emerged from? How did we get from nowhere to a demonstrator because didn't just happen like that. Well, it it. It seemed to I. Mean You know when? Roper is Dr over the essence secretary of the Air Force Brat Position Technology Logistics. Announced very abruptly yesterday during his speech that this flight demonstrator had flown I. think that everybody by surprise I wasn't expecting that kind of announcement during his speech today and It's exciting I mean I. I can't be as as an aviation aerospace journalist with an interest in military aviation I mean this that's the that's as good as it gets a secret of flight demonstrator for new fighter that you. You hear about the first time it's confirmed that there's nothing more exciting except for actually seeing it, which I hope we see when they but it turns out. I. Mean there there is a paper trail there's a, there's a little breadcrumbs that have been sprinkled. Along the path of public comments, I air force leaders over the past couple years leading to this, and some of them have only become sensible in retrospect now that we know that this thing really does exist. But in some ways are actually quite explicit and I think I'd point initially to an exchange ahead with journal Goldfine who just retired a month ago but a year ago at the same event even though it wasn't virtual at the time, it was in Bersin. Gerald goldfine chief of staff had a press conference I was asking about next generation air dominance in my big question was about the propulsion side of it congress at the time was was expressing quite a bit of frustration with the air force because it's been billions of dollars on adapted cycle propulsion, and there was no publicly available roadmap to use it, and so they're saying. Why are you still asking for this money? We have no place to put it. You know. So tell us where you're going to put A. I, put that question to many explain what you know. It's it's bit difficult because there's a live classification while tennis and so there's only so much. We can say they said L. L. Region his exact quote he said he's here's our. Strategy. We have five key technologies that were investing in that we don't intend to have all come together on a single. To be able to do the mission. In the future, we expect these technologies to be adaptable to existing platforms, and we expect these technologies to come forward into a family. I, know use family assistance a lot but really, and truly that's the next generation dominance. So as a so our intent is to keep these joint technologies moving aggressively and have them come together. They will all mature in accelerate at different paces as they become ready. You'll see US adapting them on existing platforms, sensors, and weapons, and also looking at new platforms sensors. So that was what he said and then I I didn't understand what really what he was getting out. I just didn't he didn't answer my question. So I repeated my question. What is the you know? When are we going to see a roadmap for adaptive cycle propulsion? And he his answer was there has to be a test article to be able to take some of those technologies to mature. That's probably about as far as I can go in quote right so what he was saying they're in retrospect is we have five technologies. We're GONNA put on in Gad. He didn't say but sounds like adaptive cycle propulsion is one of them and You know they need a test article, a flight test demonstrator in other words. To validate the majority of the technologies in-flight. So. That was almost as explicit as the air force has been about that. But really there was a time when. The Department of Defense was even more explicit about the the plans to actually use flight demonstrators for next generation are dominant and it goes back Congressional testimony in twenty sixteen at the time Frank Kendall who was the Under Secretary of defense for Acquisition and technology a acquisition technology in the justice. It has written testimony. included this written test, the House of Representatives. twenty. This was actually in calendar year twenty fourteen and it was going to launch a program in. Fiscal year. Twenty fifty. and. It was the aerospace innovation initiative that would be managed by the defensive ends. agency Darpa. Anna says the A I- Aerospace Innovation Initiative includes a new program to demonstrate advanced aircraft technologies in explains. As, well, as the ongoing previously mentioned advanced engine technology, which is adapted cycle. A. I is goals include strengthening. The critically important design teams in the defense industrial base reducing lead. Time. For Feature Systems the explains will not be engineering. Development Prototypes for have residual operational capabilities. The results successful the development and demonstration explain program will inform future aircraft acquisitions. So that gives you a sort of the background on how these. flight demonstrators came into existence and what their purpose walls. We know from Rocha's comments that the flight demonstrator that he's referring to be called a full-scale flight demonstrator so as a subscale or Even, a large aircraft that is meant to extrapolate the flying qualities of even of an even larger aircraft. So You know but there's still a lot we we don't know about it but that's generally the gist of how we got
