"Headlines warnings from government officials that this could be a very difficult week for coronavirus news new hospitalizations are down in New York state which could be either a P. core just a plateau British prime minister Boris Johnson hospitalized with the virus General Motors making face masks from an old plant in Warren Michigan starting today Tom Dempsey known for his sixty three yard field goal in nineteen seventy has died at the age of seventy three from covert nineteen hello Florida fire department cheered up one of its own whose hospitalized with the virus that story in about twenty minutes it is often said that if you want something done ask a busy person such is the case with Amy Frank Goldman she runs her own wealth management firm in New Jersey she's also home schooling her daughter currently recovering from the corona virus and just last week launched the local chapter of the front line appreciation group on Facebook where she helped raise money for men and women on the front lines of the pandemic she's here to talk about her group AB how did this begin for you I would think about it when I crossed the river from New York City and we were around for nine eleven put all this started throwing up and we're watching all the headlines in New York City I didn't think I had to do something so I started looking around for the opportunity that kind of help the front line workers who believe that the not the fun and the best but also I can't sing all these stories about small businesses that were struggling with self you know if we were to show our appreciation for the people who are online why can't we do that by using local restaurants to to find that goal to give some of that money back into the community so if you're not there I started a page on Facebook and it just went bananas so how does it work so basically what we do is we take the donations from the people who work during the day of the feast of pages they are by the Vermont peacock but out in those two nations are used to pay local restaurants to deliver meals to a number of different areas of the province so far would cover your rooms I see rooms and hospital testing sites urgent care centers on the start line whether answering the coronavirus called for the town in city hall your order different areas will actually branching out into pharmacist store clerks so even in little ways of trying to show appreciation to all the people who are out there leading up to function in the new normal that we have so what's cooperation but like if you have a lot of buy in from supporters it's been incredible we have two thousand members of the group the amount of money that we raise is is truly inspirational and uplifting though to do things that you know initially I thought we'd be able to provide a couple meals but now it looks like we'll be able to do this probably some other south based on the money that was raised for speak with Amy Frank golden she's the founder of the Hoboken and Jersey city New Jersey frontline appreciation group on Facebook they're raising money for health care workers so in terms of distribution do you have volunteers deliver things out of that and work with the beautiful about it two of the restaurants in Hoboken hello they had to deliver that this but for the most part eleven had done in service right so they can bring a lot of those restaurants into delivery only in their delivery people that work for those restaurants have been the ones that have been facilitating the delivery and it's been kind of a fun experience because I love to share the photos of the students in preparing an offer the food in the hands of the into the front line people also the nurses the doctors they've actually receive the food and a lot of times some of the donors were actually make the delivery themselves and sending pictures of themselves like him to come over to the nurses station which is like a really cool thing to see you know Willie so have the health care workers responded how they run a domino's just off I think I think that they have a lot more variety in a lot more options and that's another thing I try to make it through the week of the nutrient dense don't know that their job is not just mentally taxing the physically taxing as well so serving them pizza and sub five a two week seven to week that's really not going to be the fact that he's a resources so I'm very specific when they speak the restaurant about what they're preparing for them making sure they're getting a good meal but you know that the end of the day it's really comes from the heart and these are people who I don't wanna call them unsung heroes but in normal times were not in the time of the pandemic or crisis people appreciate what they do or what it really comes before court right now for those around the country listening who aren't familiar Jersey city and Hoboken very heavily populated areas certainly no choices of food right have you gone out on a limb and thrown something exotic at these health care workers I'm sure that we had a vegan restaurant a little bit you know what we've got everything from Italian to Thai food Indian food coming later this week so it's definitely a lot of variety I think the one joint I so I think I saw a stat from small business owners generally speaking who say they're down to like eighty percent of business at this point under this under these restrictions because they're limited to just take out or delivery anybody say that but what you're doing is helping keep them afloat and they might otherwise close the account for me is that I want to be fair and sometimes give the opportunity probably have everybody's gotten Hoboken to participate before I go back to some hidden down a delivery so for being realistic you know five or six hundred I deliver you couldn't change the bottom line over a week two weeks three weeks for a company or for a cyclical restaurant the one trying to do is when we were away put it close up of the picture of the health care workers I always put the link to that restaurant in the the person I think you're considering going out today please consider this restaurant what I'm trying to bring awareness to these small business owners the people know that they're delivering other they're still out there and maybe they haven't thought to order from a restaurant in a while I mean that we had ordered the question before and so now in addition to being able to provide something for the front line we're getting a little bit of P. are the people "You want something done ask a busy person such is the case with Amy Frank Goldman she runs her own wealth management firm in New Jersey she's also home schooling her daughter currently recovering from the corona virus and just last week launched the local chapter of the front line appreciation group on Facebook where she helped raise money for men and women on the front lines of the pandemic she's here to talk about her group Amy how did this begin for you I think of it but it really crossed the river from New York City and we were around for nine eleven but all the started blowing up and we're watching what happens in New York City I didn't think I had to do something so I started looking around for the opportunity that kind of help the front line workers who believe that the not that fun and the best but also I kept seeing all these stories about small businesses that were struggling with self you know if we were to show our appreciation for the people who are online why can't we do that by using local restaurants to define that goal to give some of that money back into the community to help there I started a page on Facebook and it just went bananas so how does it work so basically what we do is we take the donations from the people who work during the day of the FIFA pages they are both of them on the peacock set out in those two nations are used to pay local restaurants to deliver meals to a number of different areas of the province so far we cover in our rooms I see rooms and hospital testing sites urgent care centers there's a certain hot line whether entering the corona virus called for the town in city hall all different areas will actually branching out into pharmacists store clerk even in little league international appreciation to all the people who are out there leading up function in the new normal that we have so what's cooperation but like if you have a lot of buy in from supporters it's been incredible we have two thousand members in the group demanded money that we raise is is truly inspirational and uplifting ability to do things that you know initially I thought we'd be able to provide a Cup of milk but now it looks like we'll be able to do that for every three months now based on the money that was raised well for speak with Amy Frank golden she's the founder of the Hoboken and Jersey city New Jersey frontline appreciation group on Facebook they're raising money for health care workers so in terms of distribution do you have volunteers deliver things out of that and work with the beautiful about it so what about certain Hoboken hello they had a delivery business but for the most part eleven had done in Florida right so they can bring a lot of those restaurants into delivery only in their delivery people that work for those first on to the ones that have been facilitating the delivery and it's been kind of a fun experience because I love to share the photos of the food has been prepared to talk about food in the hands of the into the front line people also the nurses the doctors they've actually receive the food and a long time some of the donors will actually make the delivery themselves and sending pictures of themselves like him to come over to the nurses station which is like a really cool thing to see you know we still have the health care workers responded to all the right a domino's just holds I think I think that they have a lot more variety in the lab for on human and that's another thing I try to make it through the week of the nutrient dense now that their job is not technically tactically physically technique while serving the pizza and sub five need to week seven to week that's really not going to be the fact that he's a resources so I'm very specific when they speak the restaurant about what they're preparing for them making sure they're getting a good meal but you know that the end of the day it's really comes from the heart you need to people who want to call them unsung heroes but in normal times were not in the time of the pandemic or crisis of course people appreciate what they did what it really comes up for court right you know for those around the country listening who aren't familiar Jersey city and Hoboken we are very heavily populated areas certainly no choices of food right have you gone out on a limb and thrown something exotic at these health care workers I'm sure that we had a vegan restaurant a little bit you know what we've got everything from Italian to Thai food the the Indians are coming later this week so it's definitely a lot of variety I think the one doing it I so I think I saw a stat from small business owners generally speaking who say they're down to like eighty percent of business at this point under this under these restrictions because they're limited to just take out or delivery anybody say that the what you're doing is helping keep them afloat and they might otherwise close account for me is that I want to be fair and sometimes give the opportunity probably have every restaurant in Hoboken to participate before I go back to some hidden chemical weaponry so for being realistic you know five or six hundred on the river you can change the bottom line over a week two weeks three weeks for a company or four I should be focused on what I'm trying to do is when we were away put it close up of the picture health care workers I always put the link to that restaurant in the in the course of a single considering going out thing to consider the trash on what I'm trying to bring awareness to these small business owners the people know that they're delivering that they're still out there and maybe they haven't thought to order from a restaurant in awhile or maybe they had to order the question before and so now in addition to being able to provide something for the front line we're getting a little bit of PR the people who are helping us make that happen well that is Amy Amy Franco "Show. I'm calling from her and I'm Jason Cochran. And we have a special guest in studio today. She is Fran golden. She is the foremost expert on cruising. I think that's why we hired her. She's written to frommer guides. Our framers easy guide to river cruising and also our firms easy guide to Alaskan cruises. Thank you so much for appearing with us. Today. France, always so great to hear from you. Well, thank you. And thank you for that lovely introduction. You're welcome. So in terms of Alaska, what can travelers expect in the coming season. Are there any new boats is do people need to book early? What what do people need to know about Alaskan cruising this year? Yes. Yes. And yes. So this year in Alaska, you do need to book early because it's one of the hottest markets. It's quite interesting. I believe it was traveled leaders group. One of the nation's top travel agencies that put Alaska right at the top of the destinations that are desirable for American travelers this year. So I would definitely get your reservation. And as soon as you can why is that? Why do you think it's so popular this year? It's easy to get to. There's lots of cruises that are round trip out of Seattle, which is a fairly new thing. I mean that market's been growing, but it saves you on airfare. They're wonderful options out of Vancouver and places such as Seward Alaska to bid on those. You're talking open Joff lights, so Alaska Seattle is pretty accessible to almost everyone in there a decent fares to get there. And in terms of new ships. There's some exciting things happening this year. One of them is Canard is back in Alaska with ocean liners it's been awhile since they've been there. So that's an exciting thing. And they've already committed to being there next year as well. How will that change the experience before release Cunard? Yeah, it's a very British experience. You can have your high tea you can dress up at a ball. You know, so go do the rugged things during the day and then up in a ball gown in dance. Stay to the big band. Do you know, it's a really it's a really different kind of experience, a very classy, you pack, your tuxedo. What you pack your tuxedo. What is changing on the ground? I imagine that the cruise lines because there's so much renewed interest over time is starting to evolve also what they're offering onshore has that been changing very much people wanting different things that they wanted say thirty years ago. I think they're looking for more active adventures, the demographic in general that after a big push by the cruise lines is coming down. People are more active. You know, I'm very active sixty two year old myself. So there's more in the way of hiking and biking and trekking and even some rock climbing. I mean, one of my personal favorite things to do in Alaska, which I've done three times, so far it's snorkeling. I know that sounds crazy really fun and much different in terms of an experience and you'll find in the Caribbean. What do you see under the water in Alaska, all kinds of things you see very colorful starfish? You wonder why they've chosen to be in Alaska in purples and blues and reds, and you see CNN enemies and last time, I actually saw an octopus and you see see cucumbers, and there's just all kinds of things. Also, there's beautiful Celts Heald's that are, you know? These stocks waving like mermaids that you can go through. And there's so I mean, it's a big surprise under the that. I totally recommend people. Explore if they don't mind little bit of chill do wear a wetsuit. There's choices where you can wear wetsuits or dry, suits. I personally prefer a wet suit because I feel a little claustrophobic into dry suit. But depending on the temperatures you may be a little warmer in a dry suit. Well, I feel like we cut you off before you want. It were there any other changes in the boats, plying Alaskan waters. Yes, the really really really big boats are coming. So the Alaska ports have been preparing for that with their infrastructure last year. Norwegian cruise line introduced the Norwegian bliss with just a giant boat with the race track on top this year. They're also bringing Norwegian joy, which is another ship with a race track on top. And then one of the very large. We're all care. Bien ships is coming with all kinds of. -periences like simulated surfing, and and that kind of thing so for the especially the family vacationer with kids looking for just all kinds of shipboard activities. There will certainly be be them. I suppose you could look at it glacier, while surfing if you plan your correctly, we are speaking with friend golden who we are proud to say is one of the authors of firmers easy guide to river cruising as well. As Roma's easy. Guide to Alaskan cruises now Fram. Oh, go ahead. Jason I was wondering I've been asking I've been asking this by several people if climate change is affecting what you see especially in glacier bay and around there when you're on an Alaskan cruise have you noticed any changes over the years? I have the the glaciers are calving more. It used to be that watching glacier and waiting for it to calve, which is throwing off a large chunk of itself into the sea, basically is dying in front of you is it used to be you. Waited quite a while and often did not see that experience. Now, you see it. And of course, you're excited to see it. It's a very visceral experience it's loud. They call it white Sunder. There's this apartment size piece of glacier falling off and the large splashing your ship vibrates when you stand back and think about it climate change become scary in that realm. The glaciers are melting. And you also see an awful lot of icebergs in chunks in in the water in glacier bay and other areas near glaciers, but don't worry the radar of your ship will help your captain maneuver pass them. I was just past that. So let's move to river cruising one of the big stories this year, I thought, and I I don't wanna be too negative. But was the bombing of a new concept in river cruising. I'm talking about you by Yuna world. Yes. That was one concept. I mean, the idea of all the river lions again or or doing more active experiences waterways has an entire wellness program. Avalon waterways has added all kinds of biking and hiking excursions. I mean, they realize that passengers want to be active and they're trying to bring down with. It's been a pretty high demographic in terms of age a unit world with you by Uniworld thought to actually target millennials initially, and then they then they raise the age to forty. So they basically said you can't come on the ship unless you're under forty. I couldn't go on. Yeah. But not enough people started. Yeah. It they had to cancel half of their sailings this year. Right. Yeah. I mean, I think initially there was some interest in some publicity about the fact it's a bit of a party ship and there'd be parties on the deck, and you know, disco lights, whatever whatever's retro and cool at this point. But they're just they just didn't sell it the way they thought they were going to be able to sell it. I mean, I think people really like the fact that river cruises are a low key experience. So in my estimation. Maybe one thing they did was they made it a little too, hyper kind of defeats the point of a river cruise. Yeah. Interesting. Interesting. One of the things us non cruisers here about river cruises is that the waters are too low. Are there any rivers where you are guaranteed that you will not have to spend part of your river cruise on a bus going from place to place. Well, it's it's still rare. Mean you do hear about water levels going to low on the Rhine. You hear about them going to high on the Danube? I mean, just like hurricanes in the Caribbean. There are circumstances that caused her changes as an itinerary is. But it's not a regular occurrence. It happen. What time of year? Are you more at risk for it happening? And I and I don't follow the wetter weather parents patterns that carefully. But I believe late summer for the rains into the fall. And I would assume spring as well. But again, I've never been on a river cruise that has had to change it. So I will say that the river. Cruise lines have structures in place, should they have to do that. And several of the of the lines, including Tauk and Avalon waterways are affiliated with torque companies. So the good thing is that they do have ways to transport you other than the river. I mean, the reality is the river is appealing. People that maybe wouldn't take a motorcoach tour, but it goes to some of the same inland locations. So you probably you'll miss them of the river cruise experience, but you won't miss the destination. Right. They will get you there, and they are expert Amin as you said these are longtime tour a tour operators, so they they know how to do the land part of it. We've been speaking with Frank golden who is the author along with co authors of framers easy guide to river cruising as well AS Roma's easy guide to Alaska cruises. We think they're the best books on the market on those subjects if you are thinking of doing one of those types of cruises. You are nuts. Not to go out and buy one of these books. We have to take a break. But before we do I wanna give a shout out to our sponsor. It is smart if you were thinking of doing cruise to get insurance, and where should you go? Well, we like 'alliance travel insurance they have dozens upon dozens of different. Types of policies that will cover you. If you don't get to that first portent time, and you have to then meet the ship later. If your luggage is lost. If you get sick..

"But why do you throw it? Don't throw it to against this awful secondary. It serves you, right? Giants fans, and I feel bad for the giants fans to this is not a rant against giants fans. I want to be very clear about this. I feel bad for giants fits you're like this side of the Bengals fans. It feels so awful the root for this franchise I-, terrible awful. They should have beaten the eagles, and they didn't. And and that's karma. Karma field. Gates four for thirty for golden Tate yesterday to seven fantasy points L show, Jeffrey just three for thirty nine. The eagles passing offense is still sort of finding its footing right now. Carson Wentz you just thirteen point two fantasy points. They've got a big game ahead against Matthews Redskins next Monday night job. Adams, though, one of the few bright spots on this offense besides earth twenty two eighty four with a touchdown sixteen point four points here. Yesterday, the coal twin another game the colts continued to win free. Josh how you've been talking about him for quite some time free. Josh Adams, two straight weeks, m being the guy in Philadelphia four or five straight wins for the Indianapolis Colts right now to Rico's Indianapolis Colts twenty seven to twenty four eight dramatic comeback in the fourth quarter for the dolphins though. A monster game for Kenyan Drake before he got hurt. If I have any idea what happened with Drake late night game. Something happened to shoulder. Okay. He had come into the game on the injury report because of his shoulder that he gets limited in practice. Big. It's cleared for the pre-game injure port. So he must have banged it. Bumped it tweaked it during the game. He left for a little bit came back amongst the most notable players, maybe the only notable player on this. Dolphins roster twenty six point six fantasy points for him. Yeah. He was on the hate list for me this week field. Obviously a bad call on this one. He drives me up a wall. Nineteen. Karm on this one nine thousand total carries in his last game. He's had nineteen total carries like knowing when to start Kenyan Drake. And when not to start Kenyan Drake is literally just is a dart throw because the usage isn't there? It is literally like he has his his the definition of touched on dependent. Just because the usage it's not about his talent. I've never questioned it's talent. It's my questions of always been about Adam gates and his usage. And again as good as he is nineteen total carries in the past three games. I mean, even in this one he only got eight Russia's. I mean, he got the big pass for touchdown. He gets another touch on. But he got eight runs. But you're yeah. Yeah. They play dependent four Kenyan Drake. But he made good on those big plays fourteen carries or Frank Goldens gonna keep happening. I should know that by now he is ageless is Frank core. Andrew luck. Now is the Matthew berry of of of the NFL. It's right. He has eight straight games. Does Andrew luck of three or more passing touchdowns? He is red hot right now t y Hilton goes crazy again seven for one twenty five Jack Doyle scored a touchdown. That's good news. But so to Eric E Brown's got two touchdowns yesterday on five catches. He actually out snapped Doyle forty six to thirty six for a while. We have been saying no the problem is Jack del doesn't play nearly as much as I'm sorry around. Eric Hebron doesn't play nearly as much as Jack Doyle doesn't and he doesn't until yesterday. And maybe part of that's tired of the fact that no Allie Cox was inactive because of an injury. But Eric Ibran if you started him good on you. He is touchdown prolific is really any player. So far this season. I can't imagine. There are too many players guy who have forty five or fewer catches. With eleven or more receiving touchdowns at any point at a single. And that is karma right there. Let me tell you. The lions did not take advantage of Eric Hebron the way that the colts have and I'll tell you. What's the lions? I mean, this whole thing is just karma against the. Here's the problem that I have because I've seen a lot of like the lions really screwed that one up right there. Anybody pulse. Say like anything other than like, it's about time. We got rid of Eric Hebron. They would've traded them for twentieth. Round pick..

"Maybe I'm the only one who felt this way. But I'm watching the Steeler raven game at times, and because of the gold that the Steelers have and they put in the box, you know, where they have the score. And the down every time I looked up my natural reaction is they threw a flag. It was very distracting every time I moved up because of the color of the box where the Steeler name was. I think it may have been the down. And every time I got a headache. Every. Time. I looked up. I was like where's the flag? There's a flag where is it? And it just confused me all day long. As far as the game is concerned. Here's the reality. The Baltimore Ravens is just not that good. And they fail at four red zone opportunities and they failed. I think they ended up with only one touchdown out of it. They do a lot with Lamar Jackson. They weren't a lot of stuff with him in this offense. But to the Steelers credit they have figured things out. They are a lot better defensively than they were five weeks ago. And they really miss Levy Levy on bell. They do not. Yes. No, right. No. I agree. I'm saying, yes. Honor it just smart late in the game rothlisburger drop back pass down. I saw that any alertly takes the sack running. And so in Baltimore got the ball back. There's only forty four seconds left. There's just not enough time to do anything and give the Steelers credit as a as a dog, which I thought was crazy. That's why grab the points on them. They beat the ravens and they've got an excellent they have the Steelers have the Bengals exactly where they will. Do. They do. They'll beat him again when they play they play him in Pittsburgh. I think they beat him radio. Cincinnati. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly right now. I'd be surprised if the Steelers don't win that very surprised, and that's despite all the Levy on bell stuff. Yeah. Now, I'd be very surprised. A couple of games. We didn't we didn't touch on the bears over over the bills. I mean, the bills are just inept, I mean, the fact that the bills are an eight point underdog to the jets tells you all you need to know about bad day on and it doesn't mean you can't beat the jets. But I mean, I mean how how many Tommy pick six they haven't his game two two defensive touchdowns for the band's. Well, at least two that. I saw here's all you need to know. And CBS sports tweeted out. This fact that Nathan Peterman has already thrown more pick sixes than Aaron Rodgers has in his entire career at his amazing. And that's not surprising. No. Here's the crazy thing about the Buffalo Bills. And you saw it this week against the bears. Even though they lost forty-one tonight. Not a bad defensive known. And that's why you told me the jets losing those. Why would I be surprised? You can't be surprised. They played good defense. They could stop the run. And why wouldn't they know? That's not their problem. They're probably six. Yeah. We're going to be you know, you would think so. Yeah. I mean, the thing about buffalo is scored the last three weeks five point six point. This is this is a did you look, by the way, the last time you were eight point favorites against anybody anywhere. Yes. I have I've gotten the seven to eight it was two thousand fifteen they were eight point favorites against let me find the tendency. I don't think he was Jackson. That was okay. The Jacksonville Jaguars. So you've got to go back three years. But during that fifteen season, they were eight point favorite in that can okay. Wow. Now that does make sense. We'll make sense. What I was gonna say they right right until the end. But the one thing I'm going to say about buffalo. Buffalo, look schedules. It boy, you know, this is a game. We can win. Seriously. I mean buffalo. Shots that are schedule. We can win a game. But we could certainly beat the jets. They should be thinking should this is I was looking back because obviously last year they early favorite three times. If you go back to sixteen seventeen in this year, they have not been a favourite of more than three points in any game. Right. But back in two thousand fifteen seven point favorites against the titans. They covered the number. They beat a bad in that game eight point favorites against Jacksonville. They actually didn't call for the number. They only won by five. Okay. Seven and a half point seven point favorites against the Redskins covered the number that buy, and so those are the few times in fifteen where they were you know, they laid a big number. So it hasn't happened that all but. But the thing is buffalo. It's their offense. They're not in net defensive team. I think the jets could Actually Defense can actually create turnovers in this game. You force a turnover three straight weeks. And it's no surprise. They have one or any of those games. You know, let's be. I mean, that's no surprise. But this is a game where you look at you say, hey, you know, what they might actually be able to force a turnover in this game. Peterman. Every tomorrow my God. And he had a tremendous. No. He was great. He was great. We we give too. Yeah. God played a hell of a game that sack right away early in the game. Sure tackles you. Yeah. How many times did he tackle Frank golden day for a one yard? Did I always want to hug Avery? He did he. Marla? He did they lost because their offense was inept. The Koji staff has no idea what they're doing. They never thought of taking the center snap the ball. And they kept them in his shotgun. All all time. What what are the game was the Viking win over the lions the Viking sack? Matthew, stafford? Gabe staffers rolling was an option or you just did it because he he wanted to give the ball to somebody else. He's laterals the ball back though to running back who doesn't make the move doesn't. Hold onto the ball. And they pick it up running for a touchdown. Hey, the lions are kind of a mess. Think about the jets by a lot. Well, if you're alive, how is it? What would the what would the money be? Okay. If I if I tried to get this bet before the year, we went through the Meadowlands. Said okay. Here's the bet. I wanna make I'm going to bet that the Detroit Lions will lose badly that a jets and win easily against the patriots. Could you get that? Because you get that deal. You get that you get quite the money. If you were relying. You know, all these years ago back in two thousand eight whatever it was you go oh in sixteen. Okay. The pinnacle of horrible. But you draft Matthew said, well, the pinnacle of and I I know. Yeah. Okay. Matthew, Stafford right? You start to see improvements in two games. They win six games. All of a sudden when ten games are in the playoff playoff. Life is good. Matthew Stafford has now been there for a decade? He is a quote on quote franchise quarterback. They have been in the playoffs. Three times. They are a win three. They were about to have another year in which they don't make the playoffs. They've changed coaches. They've gone from Jim Schwartz. Nine nine seven unless you playoff games that they play. But I mean, you know, they dumped Colwell after winning year. I understand that you know, that's the zoo that think about yourself. You are alliance. No at this point line fan. I might not be alive at this point. When I try to think of.
