"Don't even know who doubles that that was and with that money in a football excuse me ramble drawing a blank on it wasn't Frank Gifford it didn't sound like Frank Gifford I I don't even know who that well yeah no I think that was given I think what was good for yeah it was good for yeah it was Gifford dear dark so let let me go to you right on this because you can't necessarily it's it's the TV call and for some of our listeners who may not actually have seen it you don't hear it as it exactly happens describe the plays it occurred actually Frank describes it pretty well any getting calls that he says that that what they really don't need to do is they need to roll Cunningham outside which is exactly what they do in that third down play the funny thing about it is the Carl banks was the outside linebacker they're sees it right away you know bank sees exactly what's happening and he comes across the line of scrimmage and he's got Randall lined up all and any hit some goes low hit some right right right around the level and knocks his legs out from under him a Randall manages to prop himself up put his left hand on the ground propped himself up straighten up and then fired you know somehow finds Jimmy Giles the corner of the end zone and fires a perfect passenger that's the most underrated part of it is what a great pass that was busy squeezing it in what really tight little window with very little time to find the receiver only ball Jimmy Giles court all night as a matter of fact and he throws for the touchdown but that's you know I I saw him I've I've interviewed I've interviewed Carl banks about this play a number of times over the years as funny part is he never mind talking about it well I'm going to play that now actually and so the second cut to have this kind of a mashup most tell us who's in this cut because it's gonna be it's gonna be tough for everybody understand so it starts off with an interview with Randall Cunningham from nineteen ninety then goes to Carl banks talking about the play in facing Randall Cunningham Chris Carter gives his two cents that goes back to Carl banks to sum up by just what it was like to play Randall and we get a little Maryland there too because I like the diet plan I think the different style player I don't just wanna complete best I wanna put excitement to the game I am not been on national TV that often here's something very.

"You guys have lived a little bit Monday night football, John, les, showbiz and off the wall and all that when they had Cosell Meredith. And. Frank gifford. How bad was Jason Witten last night. He's nothing. I mean was bad. Yeah. Well, you had a guy who had never done pro football play by play this Joa Tessa tour such an insult, by the way to there's nobody you know, you can get anybody better. And some guy's never done it before you were you there when the guy was telling me about even that show that you hate. No, I guess you weren't with me. That was at the TV station and a guy who knows he s bien very well said the show you hate that. The one in the morning with the Mike Greenberg. Right. I hated to say it's just a terrible bar as far as the rating. I watched it when I was on vacation a couple of times, actually like it. It's a it's a good show prep for show like this because it's you know. On headlines. But the deal was told me by a guy who who's worked airy said, you know, with all that's going on now with the controversies metoo movement. Everybody just ready to jump on everybody. If you say something that maybe doesn't agree with you, be political or etc. Etc. They said this guy is the safest Mike Greenberg. He'll never say anything upset anybody. So we'll give him millions of dollars just to navigate to thing because he's safe. And I think that's what you saw last night. Same thing with Jason Witten and nothing there and that make Farland they I bet he'll be up in the booth. They had him down on a and Holger Craig. Yeah. That's out of the name. Anthony, he's he's lively. And he does his thing and the best one. I heard though was from Murph said Brent Musburger was terrific. You know for all the people and Greg is obviously terrific too. But Musburger is like an all time. Great and Murph was saying man, he was good. You know because he was in his car last night. So I didn't hear any Musburger. But I watched the game. Unless I always say if the game is good, I don't care who's announcing. But just you read all these reviews, and again, people who review usually haven't done it themselves. So it's a a take it for what it's worth at somebody's opinion, which is to be valued. But wet nothing. I mean, just I struggled just struggling. Yeah. Really really struggling on national TV. National TV does that make sense? So that you wanna get guys now that, you know, Jason Witten is not gonna say anything it's going to stir up. It's just that's where the business is. Now, it's maybe not worth getting a high voltage guy because he's going to upset people get people talking and when you remember Cosell, right? I mean, the game attracts the audience announcers attract the audience, so you just don't. And then what you you wanna make sure you want to make sure the announcers don't cost you the sponsor. Yeah. Exactly that they keep people entertained that. They're, you know, decent and that they don't turn off the sponsors. That's really I remember John. Is the attraction that's the. It's the game. Do you? Remember Gruden never saying anything. Controversial. I don't remember too much. He's controversial. I mean. Madden. Controversial. I don't remember. The man was the first guy to do boom. And bam. He was an original. And if he had to be strong economic burns and original too. I think he's he there's definitely some fire and some attitude and some I mean when John gruden's talking it's it's good stuff because he's not vanilla. And he's going to give you like, you know, it's not just a statement. It's a statement with some kind of a spin or an opinion, or at least an attitude or you know, you get this. There's a there's a definite vibe around his commentary that you can sit see him in that dark room role in that film back and forth. And he okay, thanks for me. The Super Bowl winning coach. It'd be interesting to see how much of Gruden wants to give though if they end up at a certain point in the season. Maybe they're three and seven will he be able to stay because he looked after the game. There wasn't a lot of boom and bam in his press conference. But nonetheless, I don't know. I I was glad to see people get off Musburger. Because again to me, that's an all time. Great here. The little by people who you know. Listen your opinions valued. But remember he has called a lot. Anytime you watch the NBA channel all those great games. It's Musburger voice doing the game. You know, be interesting to see if Gruden in in car can get on the same page, and if he can resuscitate car car, doesn't that the one thing about I think there's a little unnerving watching the raiders if you're a raider fan is that. You know, they they they chose the twenty million dollar quarterback over the twenty million dollar defender. And they may not have made the right choice. I mean, don't you always have to go quarterback? Well. Back. Going very far. But I mean, you know, what I mean? You look at car. He's regressed. I mean twenty fifteen twenty sixteen car throws for almost eight thousand yards sixty touchdowns in nineteen picks eleven fourth quarter. Comebacks. You know, he was he won nineteen of the thirty one games. He started between twenty fifteen in two thousand sixteen. And now, you know, he has not been Pro Bowl caliber in a couple of years. He's lost five straight as a starter. The you pointed out the he no he hurt his back against Denver in week four last year. The raiders are four and eight and twelve game since he hurt his back their foreign aid. And in those in those twelve games. He's strong fifteen touchdowns and fourteen picks in the raiders offenses averaging seventeen points a game in that in those twelve games. That's the bottom five offense. Now only he knows for sure. Bring an injury. And and probably more than point. If you don't have the confidence. Hey, I can take a hit. If you look like you're getting rid of the ball to quick as you don't want to get it. That's that's gonna be a tough. He's had a broken leg. He's back injuries. He's now on his third. Oh, see in the last four years and is now played by Jared Goff, wasn't all that good at home. And he really the one thing about car. That's really makes you uncomfortable. If you're a raider fan is just his look like the same player. It doesn't look comfortable in the pocket. He's got he's got the NFL's best interior line. I mean, you're not gonna find a better three-man combo than what they have at garden center. And you know, he's always talking about. Hey, you know, the defense gives you this and just seemed like they went underneath to the running backs and tight end. When are you going to take chances down the field? When are you going to hit Amari Cooper? When are you gonna hit Jordy Nelson? I mean and then. Once the Rams, I mean. We just had we just had Mike Lombardi on talking about the adjustment that Wade Phillips made in the second half. I mean, they're getting crushed in the first half with Jared cook, he puts a keep to leave Jared cook. And it was like that was it was like, you put it the absolute. Noose around the Lakers. I mean, they just couldn't around the around the raiders car was nine of sixteen for one hundred and four yards and two touchdowns in the in the second half. So I don't know they traded away a hall of fame defensive player and captain quarterback. Did they make the right call? Should they kept MAC and and not giving twenty million to car car? Just doesn't look like the car from a couple years ago. And I don't know why exactly and maybe Gruden can get them going. It's only one game, obviously. And then we'll see if they get beat a Denver, and then people start to go. Hey same with the forty Niners. Who look pretty damn good in Minnesota. They come back and laying egg against the Troy, then everybody has has different opinions raiders could Denver next week at Denver was, you know, Denver was a little bit better than I case keenum looks good. Yeah. Cortlandt Sutton, the rookie receiver mess him. You looks good rois Freeman the rookie runner from Oregon looks good. They get Shaked bought the second year tight end. I mean, they get some young talent on the offensive side and Denver. And of course, we know von Miller off the edge great corner place. So even without to leave the great corners. I it's funny though, how everything is built around Grodin you can tell by the marketing in Las Vegas. I don't know. It was that on the broadcast without seeing a news report all the billboards though in Vegas. Jon Gruden is coming, you know, and that's not car, obviously, not Khalil Mack anymore. But Jon Gruden is coming and boy that's pressure on the guy when when they get to Vegas are they going to jettison car before they even wind up getting to Vegas out of his money's guaranteed. Right. I know it's what do you get one hundred and twenty five million guys. Was it just for fun? You want to look up look up how much he cars that. Hundred and twenty-five he got how much of it's guaranteed because man, no, man. I mean, and you keep hearing over Gruden how much Mike are you just wanna hit these sports leader? That's all my cares. But but the point being that Gruden over and over again Gruden finally got his quarterback the best quarterback. He's ever add a lot of money. How much can you guaranteed? That's that's the thing. Yeah. I don't know if he's getting one hundred or what I know it's backloaded, but I'll say this. Oh, the new coaches we said before when Owen seven. Yeah. I I think if it was up to me if I could have any of these guys you got seventy million guaranteed was Pat, Pat Shurmur new in New York. Frank Reich in Indy. Steve Wilks in Arizona. Mike variable in Tennessee, Matt Nagy in Chicago Gruden here with the raiders and Matt Patricia with lions who thinks going to have the best run. And all those guys. I'm I'll take Pat Shurmur and the New York Giants I in maybe Nagy, maybe a close second from Chicago. But he who do you think out of those coaches Gruden as a real nice run with these with this raider team is you know, Gruden two point. Oh, you're going to laugh at me. But I I always go who's got the best quarterback. And I'm a big Stafford been is a big as much Stafford adventure pick sides. He no, he looked horrible. But I still think Stafford's got something there. Stafford and we'll see what happens this Sunday when he comes to televise. All right. It can be our MTA any calls. Have you want to sneak in with something at the last the last shot feel free eight oh, eight Camby?.

"Well brett farve waffling on a major career decision he makes it sound like he just on a lark all right i'll do him a favor and go up there and embalm surprise which which is not atypical i don't think for how a lot of pro athletes especially top tier hall of fame pro athletes approach broadcasting career and those are the guys that don't last that long no i totally agree i think there's a big difference between being funny in the locker room or on the field in having some one liners and then being able to like actually announce a football game and far of his i feel like he shows up super bowl sunday on nfl network i think he he pops up everyone's he's a very he's very smart about football might not be the right spot for in a booth right i don't i i don't think so either necessarily but he is such a famous presence and he's such an iconic guy that it makes total sense makes a lot of sense espn whe when after peyton manning and it didn't work out and why they kick the tires on five apparently by the way rex ryan will be in for an audition reportedly as well and he'll get another crack at it if you're a first ballot hall of famer are you willing to work as hard as you did as an nfl player in order to be a good announcer after your career's over because i think tony romo probably works almost as hard as he did when he was a play frank gifford given like those are all time greats but also gotta hurt the ego a little bit for brett farve to read that so i think that you see that in the tweet maybe.

"Stadium on the home games and for doing a threeman booth like they do which is not very easy i mean this is a monday night football it's not dino howard cosell frank gifford and don meredith anymore i mean the the do a threeman boothe is not easy and up for the three guys that we have doing it each of them brings our own sort of unique an interesting perspectives so it's really great to hear from merkel grand from someone who played for greg she ano and knows that program inside and out with a very sort of contemporary feel it ought to be able to talk about rutgers in this century i think is an important thing so it's great to hear from eric at all the games and of course he'll be back next year again as part of the broadcast accrue for a my man ray lucas ray you know i love your man you know that that there's nobody i admire more than you but may here's what i'd like to see and i'm going to throw this out there you gotta give the referees a break and i'm only saying this because you're everybody knows that you know what there's not a penalty on the other team every play and there's never a game or there's no penalties on rutgers i know every time something doesn't go right odds the referee's fault these referees are terrible these referees have to go these referees need to be thrown out raya understand your passion i understand your allegiance you're a member of the rutgers athletics department a hall of fame very welldeserved every time i see you you remind me that yes you beat west virginia i i know you did a good friend of mine was your catcher on your high school baseball team and he had some stories from me about you a nothing i won't embarrass you with on the air raid that's okay but you know what here he here years ago just that just a a quick little from one hall of famer to another will you take a little suggestion for me every play is not the referee's fault if the other team score a touchdown on rutgers it's not always the referee missed the call you think he could do that.

"To to pass all the classes but i would've loved to have just said hey xiaomi i all i did was just do a simple search of saying how many men have have have committed murder in gangs in chicago in the past year compared to x nfl players who have ever committed murder and then draw the parallel there and say i've got one american city and i've got examples where it's four one already just by one ah one american city in one calendar year that that's exactly what the nfl is gonna fight you're going to say that a lot of people have pp frank gifford you know dared are poorer prayers you've had there you have got onto lead productive lives another air is there and i say how could the nfl park here it can it eric i've einar warning against her if they had no idea that he had ct because it's rarely diagnosed definitively after somebody guard can can other people attempt to get on this on this gravy train i mean because he he was having he was having relationships in prison and i wonder if is if possible like you can't sue for the loss of somebody if you're a fellow prisoner can you oh yeah no i can't do that to be a hey right right um i thought you meant way w other players try to bring a type of fish oil gotta absolutely yeah yep you know there's a major thing here is that barrier have figured out a way to guide nur pt in the recco and if they can do that then you're going to see all of the law anyone trying to they they eliminated a concussion settlement specifically exploded at because of this i am sorry why prepared support it if the nfl can ever now when somebody sep when i look it x nfl players to have read the stories and seen you know some of the tragic stories out there of guys who committed suicide or or the the you know they've taken their own lives and and ct being part to blame i always him interested why the families never bring up alcohol or drug abuse and can you prove i don't believe anyone can prove the drug abuse or alcohol abuse is caused by cte and when did it begin why did you.
