That was not the story. I was thinking of that. He told in two thousand sixteen. So i had not heard that story. Fantastic stuff talking about the late marshall cassidy. Johnny started by talking about the influence that he had on you and he became a mentor to you. Back in the nineteen eighties. What kind teacher was marshall cassidy outstanding teacher because he would listen and literally He would. I would go to an office on the same level as the announcers booth and Record I have a record with me. And i call the race into the corner and right after that and this this went on that happened a lot that he would he would take the time to listen to it anyway. So i would. I would do the call into the into the recorder and go into the booth. He watched the replay with me as he played my call and the other reason that he was a good teacher and a good mentor is that he. He didn't pull any punches. If you messed up. I messed up in the call that he was listening to eat. Cold me and that's very important code. It i ate. It was nice if he thought he did a good young But he was also want straight to the point if he thought that. I should do this or suggested i do that. And I for those two reasons primarily Listening literally and being straight on and and and honest with me as an analyzing my calls. You know marshall retired as the announcer at naira in nineteen ninety so we have had plenty of time to reflect upon what he meant to the sport and his legacy but whenever somebody passes away it seems that comes up again. So how will john embryo will view marshals legacy not just in new york but in the sport i think i think twofold mike when you know somebody personally you take it beyond just the professional relationship and thoughts that you have about him He was he was nice and generous. A man that i've ever been around. And how lucky. I was to have him around as the race color for the first ten or eleven years. I mean he started in the spring of seventy nine. And i started in november of seventy nine so i start martial started as a race caller when when chick passed away suddenly. So you know. I it was timing for me was was was perfect And then you take it from a personal standpoint where he was just so He was just so kind and conscientious of being kind to other people I think i read it somewhere that you know. It doesn't happen very often. But when a lady in the room. Marshall was seated. He would stand up And he he was just kind of a a an individual and You know i'm gonna just remember the good memories and and miss them a lot that he's not here anymore. I've certainly got a lot of memories event. Positive ones of marshall cassidy. Yeah no doubt about it. And two words that i have heard used to describe marshall over the past several days class and gentlemen and johnny i would use those two words to describe you as well my friend and really appreciate you taking a little time to to look back on marshall cassidy and share some stories. Talk about what he meant to you. he will be missed..

The event quote clearly violated unquote covid restrictions on indoor occupancy f. d. n. y. spokesman frank dwyer set under current rules. Posted by the city. Houses of worship may hold indoor religious services in one room with occupancy limited to fifty percent capacity. Wow that's what your your masters random man's brains limited to fifty percent capacity also attendees from different households must maintain six feet of social distance or wear face coverings or both. Then show you something to six feet. I'm very proud of asked whether the firefighters noticed anything amiss next door dwyer said quote fire. Houses don't conduct surveillance on their neighbors unquote. Something that the police could learn a lesson from. There's a reason that nobody ever wrote a song called f the fire department. I this before. Can you imagine if people in ambulances firetrucks went around looking for the next injured person or the next fire. Oh yeah like a fire. Department was like parked around the corner or hid behind some building. Or whatever just waiting for a fire breakout with the. Fbi was running an ambulance service. They would just run people over so they can take him to the hospital. It'd be it'd be like when the fbi foils and fbi power terror plot. I just love this statement. New york is offensive to all the sacrifices the founding fathers in our our forebears made in trying to leave us with some freedom. Yeah well you can't conduct humanity in this way. You cannot lock people inside of their house. You cannot demand that they do not congregate as they wish. You do not respect their existence. You should expect their resistance. Yeah yeah you. If you it's only a matter of time if you enslave people in some way shape or form it's only a matter of time until somebody stands up and fights back. Thank god. I've been thinking it wasn't going to happen this time. It's it's getting close to the wire. It's time to be out in the street with perched with torches and pitchforks and and you know tauern feathers may tax collectors. Birds again asked whether the synagogue would face any consequences for violating restrictions. Schwartz cave no answer. It wasn't the same. What consequences would that be well with him. Violated the the mandates of the covid nineteen policy of new york city. You got seven. This is the same story right. i had to step. But you've got seven thousand people or whatever that are coming into the same place you've got a lot of people willing to disobey what consequences could you possibly lay on these people that would have any effect if all these folks said. We're not gonna pay your fines. We're going to demand our day in court. There's no way that they would be able to extract any consequences from then they can put them in jail the you know the holdings there's no holding cell big enough for such people right. Yeah yeah yeah. I'd have to look as shouli in the cells and became willing to defend themselves physically from violence. Because that's that's the vital thing this wasn't the only recent event.
