Yesterday I was able to go and visit my son I haven't seen him since February, he only lives in Madison. But how? I realize now I am I'm the elder to my my kids who are both in their early thirties. I realized. So clearly yesterday light they've been they've been very they. They want to protect me. And so whenever they think about we've talked about. Oh. My Mom. I'll say something like, Oh, I'd really love to go to Madison and sees Stephen and then both my kids are like, do you think that's safe for mom means that okay Madison's been kind of crazy and math Wisconsin as general about the pandemic now they're taking it seriously. But. It was real clear to me yesterday that now they've taken on that protective role of their mother, their mother, their old mother. and. They've been concerned about me driving Madison about being around people in Madison, not wearing masks and they both been careful and my son's continue to work than they were were they both worried that will who knows maybe Stevens picked up something at work.

"People even know to check for these things as just you know I'm not who knows what caused it I'm just saying. You know. So this this biomass and biofuel thing is just so hidden but everywhere. And Dad. Detroit incinerators closed. I. Don't know if the waste human waste to Energy Plant Flint is going or not. But. It's just to me as people say, Oh, well, you know they're doing better without than all. Just assign would that we would burn these things and go down these roads in the name of Greene. Tell something about where our minds have gotten in our desperation to get off also fuels and to have green solution the allow industrial civilizations. Really these green solutions are not about saving the planet. They're just about keeping our way of life going. When I think our way of life with eight billion people consuming on this level. Is just it's coming to an end. Well. Look. First of all. Let me. Sorry for the Soliloquy. But that's me worked out there It's okay. The incinerator plant was in my district when I was a Commie Commissioner. So that's was hatched during that period of time by the genesee township government and consumers power I, think at the time. And what alternate? Lee as been used for is to take. In literally thousands of demolished homes, they just take those over to the incinerator and burn the stuff. So. I mean, that's the came and an interesting tell people what's in these demolished homes they're burning oh, all kinds of stuff us pestis lead lead paint. Arsenic is hard of this. All kinds of heavy metals. Are In this stuff than released into our air and. Ultimately All what happens is pollutes the neighborhood near in the nearest proximity. So way back in I forget what year was eighty eight or eighty, nine, the There was a group of citizens sat was led in part by Bill Schmidt and sister Joann. From. The Saint Francis. Saint Francis Prayer Center? Who Brought Litigation to stop this Incinerator in a claim that. It's licensing was improper it. They didn't follow the proper procedures of the EPA. And that it constituted environmental racism. I in the country I, believe at the time. that. That that argued this theory of environmental racism basically. Twenty I think was twenty three years later. You WanNa know more about this. I did a podcast recently with Father Phil Schmitter he talks about this in our conversation. At the last day of the Obama Administration the EPA. EPA leading the administration..

"Producer and her last incarnation? But was news director here and Sandra. Thank you for the warm warm words and my best to your family as well. You know, we've Caja were a real family, and it's lovely. I've had a couple of questions I got a full board. So we'll we'll get to it. But I just want to answer you by saying this this this prayer first appeared in one thousand nine sixteen and it was at the express wish of Pope Benedict. The fifteenth that it was publicized. Now. The association was Saint Francis began when the prayer was printed on the back of a card that bore the portrait of Saint Francis. And wait one more point the text first appeared in the United States in one thousand nine hundred eighty seven when it was published nominee Catholic magazine. But in a Quaker magazine friends does it matter that Saint Francis is not the true author. Let's get straight to your calls. Let's go to Ella. Who's falling us from Antioch. Ella? Welcome to Cato. Have you found? Mt. You too. Thank you. It might feeling as you know. I'm no longer Christian or Catholic or religious, but I could care less who those prayers and the prayer St Francis. Whoever wrote it it's probably one of the most beautiful prayers sports humanity that was ever written. I mean, it covers everything about us as humans, and I think maybe there's a possibility that who did write it wanted to be anonymous, and and let it get you know, attributed to Saint Francis. You know who knows, but I think it's an astounding prayer and. How could it possibly matter who wrote it? Could be a secular prayer too. I don't think it is necessarily a Christian pair. I think anybody can read that prayer in have those hopes and prayers for humanity. I agree. And that's why the twelve step program, which is not denominational uses that prayer guy. I agree with you a hundred percent. And I I'm so grateful for your call and have a very happy new year. Thank you John care in the article, I wrote on on the question of the prayer of repentance. I ended the article with what is the truth about the Perv? Repentance is it authentic or not, and this is my conclusion conclusions that if Pope John did not compose the pair, I believe that this great and good pope would have embraced the prayer. That's the Perv repentance. And then I concluded with these words like the Perv. Saint Francis of Assisi this per will always be associated with a great and good human being who demonstrated by his life his words and his deeds that he truly deserves to be a Saint, and whether that applies to John the twenty-third or Saint Francis of Assisi. It's the fact that it's associated with them. I think it enhances it let's go to Mary Jo who's calling from San Jose, Mary Joe, welcome to k- geo gone. It doesn't even make sense to write prayers about yourself. Other shred prayers about you. Because they she attributes the good things you do. And what they like about the good things you did in life. They write prayer. It's about you. You don't write them? He didn't read about himself. The question is the fact that he didn't write it does that doesn't affect your appreciation of the prayer kidding. Are. I said, it's great. I'm a Catholic. I know others ride them. And they say good things. I don't know what you're trying to do. Nothing. Just ask a question down in people's minds. No trying not quite the contrary. Trying to explain in a clear and present way just the point that you were trying to make it doesn't matter how happy new year four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten it shouldn't matter. Let's go to Emma calling from Sacramento, Emma. Welcome to gauge. I thank you for taking my call that lady was a little sensitive because she is Catholic. But one thing about Shane Francis. What I loved about him it she loved animals, and to me, if the prayer means something to my heart. I don't care who if they something spiritual means something, and you know, it doesn't matter to me who like it's important to do you think most people will feel that way. Yeah. I do. I think that people that are really spiritual and have had that connection. I think that they would also that same way. Yeah. I hope so because I think I think the author is less important than the Senate. I have a happy new year for one five eight zero eight zero eight ten I want to know whether any of you disagree. Does it matter that it's not Saint Francis prayer or the prayer of repentance, the comforter is not the Perv? John the twenty third. Although they'll always be associated with it. As you know, let's go to Larry calling from Fairfield Larry welcomed, the K G O, John. Then just splendid. Thank you for asking in thirty years since you, and I are on the board of Waie AD together. Yes. Oh, I don't want to bring this out that, you know, I think it's really great that, you know, people are inspired for any reason to create a prayer that brings people together and even on our side. You know, we have a lie just prayer during Passover wasn't written by alliegence about him or else prayer. I mean, it's really I think just as a matter of of being able to have a way of inspiring others and touching others. The people that are really important and probably fired the author, and so the attribution which seems to be the conclusion of callers, the attribution is less important than the sentiment expressed in the prayer. That's correct. All right. Larry good to hear from you have a very happy new year. Wonderful wonderful four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten let's go to Elizabeth calling from Sunnyvale Elizabeth welcomed the cagey. Oh, oh, yes. I like to say that whether or not an individual. We know is Saint Francis wrote the prayer it's still resonates. Well with me, and there's a lot of historical shock value of being able to say, oh, it wasn't Shakespeare who wrote Shakespeare's plays or it wasn't Saint Francis. Who wrote the prayer the way I've always heard it recently is the prayer attributed to Saint Francis. Not even as the prayer that Saint Francis wrote. And so I think the shock value is fun of saying that and what people go, I don't know. But when you look back at the prayer, you say, this prayer is a really amazing way to try to live your life each day and say Lord make me better each day. And so it doesn't matter to me. And I don't think it does to most people after you get. Past that shock value, by the way is the value. If we have people listening who are in the twelve step program. It's why anybody in a twelve step program can't say this prayer because it's nondenominational at it expresses hope and that that's a critical factor by the you mentioned Shakespeare, you know, that there are people who think Shakespeare didn't write Shakespeare was really bacon who wrote Shakespeare. It's it gets to a point where. The meaning of what you are reading and interpreting is what matters I agree with you. I agree. And I want to thank you for your call. Just great and have a happy healthy new year YouTube, thanks for taking my call by by by the way. I'm I'm getting a number of increase here about the memorial service for retaliate Farrow. And I want to indicate to you that the memorial service for Ray Talia pharaoh our beloved colleague irritate GIO will be on January the twelfth at the Commonwealth club and kudos to Gloria Duffy at the Commonwealth club who has donated the venue. "All right here oatmeal of owner will now in my in my document i i'm reading out true story i looked all through the bible trying to find the verse the says seek first to understand and then be understood only to find that it is actually a statement by stephen are covey and from is seven high habits of highly effective people i hear again honestly i think i probably went about a good six months when i was really getting into the ft where i would say as the bible said you know in the new testament we read seek first understand indian understood so one day i thought a really want wanna sound smart i'm going to say you know as in paul's are the carinthian or in luke we read and so i like pouring through the bible a topical guy dictionary less than i hit my good friend google and ghul says that her our friend steven are covey said that so but a good friend of mine did remind me and again going back to my dad for your that there is a the prayer of saint francis of assisi which is a wonderful prayer that another one of my clients uses as daily meditation has a beautiful line that says and actually on the document i went ahead and put out the entire saint francis prayer of saint francis of assisi but there's a line there that says let me see can not as much to be understood but to understand and i highly recommend one and looking at that time the the prayer saint francis of assisi but let me go over the seat not as much to be understood but as to understand that's the point we're trying to get to any ft because if you understand where your partners coming from it changes the entire dynamic that gives you that awareness so we want to create a safe space or partner can say here's my emotional bid and now we we are understanding them more before we seek to be understood before we say okay that's ridiculous because here's what i think about that no we want to understand.
