"Five thirty eight. Sports debut. Sports. Sponsored by septa some years. We try him some years we trust. Whatever changes how we get to the game shoulder to shoulder on septa plan your trip that I set the Philly dot com. Certainly don't make the game harder than has to be. I think that's one thing that we've got to be attentive. Come Monday night, Scott Gordon's, flyers returned home tonight. The host to sixty three point Winnipeg Jets. Flyers eight daybreak is over they went into it with a bunch of momentum winning four out of five cake for check knows that probably won't carry over automatically. It's a clean slate is to make sure that. Because if he don't it's gonna be bad Carter hearts going to be a net tonight at NBC sports. Philadelphia is reporting he should be with the flyers for the remaining of the season. Super Bowl Sunday is less than a week away. Tonight's opening night in Atlanta yesterday, the Rams and pats held rallies before leaving patriots owner, Robert Kraft old thanks to the many players and coaches who really are the goats and they've made things happen. But you the fans of the true goats evolve. Fans in the NFL. I don't think anybody here in Philadelphia would be upset if the patriots lost Sunday. This is New England's nine Super Bowl appearance since two temple basketball, coughed up a fourteen point lead at home, the Cincinnati. They fell seventy to sixty eight Fran Duffy's AL's were dismal. Sixty one percent from the foul line. The line a decent amount of time shooting thirty one shots. We've been pretty good foul shooting team. That would have helped us greatly AL's dropped to fifteen and five overall in five and two in their conference. Villanova remains undefeated in their conference. They hit seventeen threes yesterday to beat Seton Hall at Wells Fargo center, eight hundred fifty we'll talk more about them next hour guys, I think Delaware valley would be fresh. Patriots were to lose the Super Bowl a sense sarcasm. Oh, really it's five thirty nine. Is on what slowing you down Amelia's.

"Slash perks. And joining us is at Bank morning at morning fog to talk to you the same city for the first hour, you're norlander a week ago. I was quite noisy in that Superdome. I will tell you a little noisy today with college basketball is it was last night. That's where we start another big east wind for Villanova Wildcats defeated Xavier at the center last night, eighty five seventy five with the help of twenty two points from Phil booth Villanova's now fourteen and four overall five and in big east play. But catch coach Jay Wright says there'll be no cakewalks of the biggies this year. I think the league's a lot better everybody, and we're not obviously what we were last year. But we could be a good team by the end. So there are a lot of games last year. We're good separation that had happened in this year. Everything's going to be a grind. And probably the way it should be Villanova will next play on Tuesday night of Butler also Saint Joseph's lost to Saint Louis last night. Sixty eight fifty seven tonight, it is a big battle of north Philadelphia's temple host pan the winner can clinch at least a share the big five crown. It will also be Fran Duffy's last game against his former team also today LaSalle host Rhode Island thirty Drexel's home for to tip against James Madison in probes the seventy Sixers host the thunder at the center. Coachman Brown talked about this challenging Bush of the schedule. We get sort of we're under the microscope a lot as relates to this portion of a season. The the the additional sort of expectations and the city have brought a new attention to our team. Joel Embiid is questionable the bad back. They'll tip off a three thirty and also today. Paul flyer skate Montreal though face off just after seven o'clock. All right. Thank you at it's eight oh nine..

"But the combination of their defense and their legs and maybe making a couple throws. Enables their team to win. You know, some of the games they start writing and for Chicago a lot for Lamar Jackson, all but one even Josh Allen. I think is one what three or four games. Right. And that gets down to a general philosophy discussion of what the NFL is. And how you can win in the league people throw out obviously you can't win without a quarterback. Okay. That's you know, obviously that's in a general way crew. But not everybody's going to have a high level elite elite quarterback. There are not that many of those guys. So the question is can you win? If your quarterback can execute to a good percentage degree within the context of your team. Another words gonna team like the bears, you know, play Kansas City, for instance. Okay. We don't know if that game will come to fruition. The only way it would it would be in the Super Bowl. We don't know if if a team like the bears can. Play the chiefs and win the game twenty three twenty. I'm sure a lot of people right now would say that's not possible. Based on what the chiefs are doing. But we don't know that, you know, keep in mind the chiefs against the ravens this week did not score a ton of points. And they obviously had that great drive at the end with the ridiculous throw by Mahomes on fourth down, which he's more than capable of. But other than that they had at that point score with twenty four seventeen Greg. I remember you and Fran Duffy on the college draft podcast. I remember both of you guys were pretty skeptical of Mahomes coming out just because of his style of play in college. And how offer them it was. And you know, looking back on it. Now, do you feel like you missed something or do you feel like it's been unbelievable job by Mahomes, and the coaches in? Kansas City getting him to kind of harness his wild stallion ability within the structure of an offense. Both you know, I thought it when I I've gone back and looked at my notes numerous times and clearly said that he was a great thrower the football because I think that's pretty evident. You don't have to be a, you know, a high level evaluate or so to speak and not that I'm that. But you don't have to be to to know that. But I was definitely concerned about those wild stallion tendencies, you know. So I think what they've done in Kansas City is been phenomenal. He still makes those kinds of plays and on a certain level. Can you say well that's hard to do every single week? And it is, but he makes them, but I think they've also done a terrific job of defining things for him. And he's they also have some very high level talent. You know, he makes a number of throws where receivers make terrific catches. But. That's all part of it. That's, you know, hey, look, you can say the same thing about Dallas. They got Amari Cooper changes your offense. Great players change your offense and make your past game better. But, but when it comes to Mahomes, I was skeptical not of the ability of just his ability to sort of play within a structured system often enough to to really be a consistent week to week player up to this point. He has proven me wrong. Look up to this point. And you can say it should have been the number one pick in the draft. Of course, of course. And you know, what to Greg in fairness to you. And I don't know if that's a game. We got see every play, but he threw he threw one really bad pick. He threw one or two others yet. We're kind of up for grabs and we're questionable decisions that should have been picked. I'm not talking about the fourth and nine where he had to other. He had two or three plays in that game. Where I thought he would have two or three like that. Every game. And it would lead to too many turnovers. I think he only got picked once maybe pick once. Yes. But there was another time or two where it was a really questionable decision and throw and it was going to be picked..

"Out five hundred dollar credit. Defy people are one hundred dollars credit defy people and hit me up. He's Fran Duffy. He's excellent. I mean videos on the eagles are must see for me his articles on the eagles because I do eagles pre-game are gigantic. If you follow him if you don't follow him. You're doing it wrong at f Duffy three on Twitter. He is the video scouting guru for the Philadelphia Eagles. I don't know former NFL offense of lineman. You can check me out on social media at Ross Tucker NFL, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook is Facebook dot com slash Ross Tucker and L friend, obviously we had some big ones to get into. Let's just start with Bama and LSU. Yeah. I mean, obviously this game Ross it was just all about the crimson tide. And I said last week that this is my favorite game on the schedule. It didn't less early live up to that from a pure game standpoint. But still a lot of fun with so many prospects on both sides, you know, this was a shutout for Nick Sabin and his team over the number three team in the country. And even though this was a battle of two of the top three teams. This was not really a surprising result. I mean, Alabama's just that good on both sides of the football. Let's start on offense. I thought to toggle viola was a little bit up and down. I thought you know, he made some great great thrones. The touchdown throw to Jerry Judy was a thing of beauty that deep corner out from the opposite hash with a defender right on the receivers hip hit him right in stride for a touchdown. That was a rare arm town kind of throw. He showed great ball plays on a back shoulder throw down the right sideline as well. His rushing touchdown. It was over thirty yards long. Really the dagger Frau Obama in this game kind of put it away. It was third down. If memory serves right LSU was in Mankato. And that's one of the concerns when you play man against a player like to the defense has their backstory at the second level. Elaine opens up right in front of him. He took the green grass at his disposal and he exploded into the secondary for a touchdown. A lot of people. Written since then that that might be to his Heisman moment just the visual of him. Sprinting through the defense of the number three team in the country on the road at night in death valley staying on offense at thought Damian Harris the running back to the tide. We've talked so much about him over the last few years. I thought he ran it. Well in this game he showed off some of that vision and contact bounds, which has me. So intrigued with his skill set. And then you go to the defensive side, it's tough not to notice number ninety two and Williams fan. I mean the nose tackle for criminal crimson tide. Williams ended up winning the Wasser camp player of the week this week. And for good reason. I mean, he was extremely active against the run in the past in this game. It felt like every other play his name was getting called. He had ten tackles three and a half titles for two and a half sacks in the game. The kid just looks like the total package. I've done a little bit of work on my. I've studied two games on film. I've watched a couple more games of them live on TV. I can't wait to dig into even more because what I've seen so far looks really really good. I think you know, whenever he decides to come out. This is going to be a guy who's going to be a top ten pick in the draft. He's not. And then you look at MAC Wilson the phenomenal linebacker for Alabama's. Well, he iced off the game with that. Acrobatic interception in the end zone. He's a phenomenal athlete. He's made those kinds of picks before in garbage time in the middle of the field. He's going to be a top forty five pick. When he decides to come out. I'm not sure how much has played recognition and ability to key in diagnose has improved from last year. Remember, he only started the last two games of last year. So came in to this season with not a lot of experience. So I haven't done the deep dive on them from film from this year yet..

"And you never know when I'm going to insert a word. That's part of this week's phrase that pays. So make sure you are paying attention by the way peeling back the curtain a little bit taking you guys behind the scenes. We are actually recording most of this on Monday afternoon. As I look right at the Mercedes Benz Superdome I feel like I can almost touch it from my hotel room. Room because I have an early flight tomorrow night tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow morning and a bunch of obligations once I land. So we are going to record most of this now. And then in the morning, five thirty AM we are recording the college draft with Fran Duffy after that will give you my thoughts on, tonight's Redskins saints game tomorrow. You won't hear it till tomorrow. So you're kind of in a time warp right here. You guys like you don't even realize that you're traveling back in time right now that just happened unbelievable. But the show is they say, may must go on. We're gonna make sure you guys have a podcast every single day with that is our obligation. That is our promise. So that's what we do. So we'll do the college draft. Five thirty give you my thoughts on the saints Redskins game. Then I'll hop on the flight. And we might by the way post even money and fantasy feasts a little bit later on Wednesday this week, then we normally do because of some things I've got going on. But anyway, that's what we're doing. So the saints and Redskins power rankings are basically what I think of them going into Monday night's game. And then I'll just, you know, depending on how that game goes. When I tell you where they are in the rankings, if I think they probably are a little bit higher little bit lower. Now after the game, I'll let you know that. But first, let's go back in time or no, this will actually be this'll be the thing that's current. This'll be the thing that actually be due on Tuesday. The big show. It was really cool to be there Bri last night. There's no question about him and obviously the saints blew out the Redskins. I don't know what got into the Redskins, but it was a terrible, terrible performance. I mean, number one, they had at least what three third-down penalties in the first half where they would have gotten off the field and they had a penalty which sustain drives for drew Brees and company that was bad. They had two or three just dropped coverages where saints receivers were wide open. That's never going to help you or never going to be good. That was really poor as well. And then Alex Smith had an awful night. I mean, all around it was a really, really poor performance by the Redskins and a terrific performance by the New Orleans Saints. The atmosphere was electric. It was very, very cool to be. There was right there where trae Smith. Score the touchdown to to give freeze the record. I was right there when breeze handing the ball to David Baker, it was awesome. The saints rolled really in every facet of the game, you know, unfortunately, it felt like it was more like an inept performance by the Redskins much anything, but the saints rolled. It was awesome to be part of the atmosphere end. I even got a chance to talk to drew Brees after the game real quick and wanted to give you guys a chance to hear what he had to say drew when you got hurt and you hurt your shoulder back in Tanzania, go, do you ever think in your wildest dreams that something like this would be possible? I didn't think I was gonna play football again, you know? So it's amazing how God works and never thought I'd end up in New Orleans either. But man, what an amazing journey. It's been, we're not done yet, and so got some more to do, but it's just so grateful for this opportunity. I think we all remember the Super Bowl and you hold in your. Son in your arms while you're celebrating, how nice is it for this record to be, you know, have four kids now and some of them are a little older. They get it. Now they're football fanatics. In fact, I'm going to give him the locker room here any minute, but managed just a..

"Good morning Ross. We got two games to break down, not just the Monday night or, but since we recorded Sunday's RTF pee on Sunday, let's talk about Sunday night as well. Lions, twenty six, patriots, ten. I don't think a whole lot of people thought that that was going to happen, but this is why upsets happened in the NFL Bri. This is why I'm writing about it for my columnist week at the athletic. It's not that surprising in the NFL and stuff like this happens number one. The talent differential is never really that much. Right? Like shocking is Old Dominion beating Virginia Tech because there isn't a single guy on Old Dominion team that would have chosen Old Dominion over Virginia Tech. Right. That's shocking. Same with like army and Oklahoma. We talked about that on the college draft podcast with Fran Duffy that should never happen, but in the NFL there's plenty of guys for the patriots. I mean, for the lions at the patriots would love to have loved to have. Right. So the talent differentials never as big as you think it'll be every week its own season terms of a game plan, right? So Matt, Patricia to really plan. He doubled gronk then let grunk do very much Brady, really had trouble finding other guys. You ding to numb to the running back a little bit receivers a little bit, but without Ataman and Gordon that playing yet trouble. Finding guys and they just couldn't stay on the field. I mean, they couldn't. The defense couldn't get off the field. I think Patricia knew that bell check wouldn't really have a lot of respect for the lions running game, wouldn't believe that they could actually sustain drives and that they would be committed to running the rock. So we went to deep safeties and said on knocking to let Kenny Gallaudet or Marvin Jones, beat me, deep. I want to see if you can sustain drives on the ground, not get penalties, convert third downs on the run and the lions did. They did it. I mean, that's that's how it works. They were able to get it done on the run game, and I love by the way. I tweeted this at Ross Tucker, NFL. I love this Frank rag. Now, Bri Frank, rag now rookie left guard for the lions. The lions offensive line in general was getting after people, but especially Frank rag. Now the rookie left guard. He was really fun to watch. He gets a lot of movement in the running game. He's explosive. He's a finisher really, really enjoyed watching him play. So that's the Sunday night or Bri. And Monday night. Last night Steelers rallied to beat Ryan Fitzpatrick and the books thirty to twenty seven big bend, three hundred yards for the third straight game the first time in his career, right? And they're very fortunate. They held on to win this game bucks. Got off to a lead after Big Ben threw a pick and then two things happened. The rest of the first half number one, the bucks defense was totally powerless to stop Big Ben. If you didn't get chance to check it out, he had a seventy five yard touchdown to Vance McDonald who had one of the best if arms I've ever seen. He punched essentially punch curse Conti in the head and then threw him down on the ground by his head running in for a touchdown. It was as Beasley and awesome as it gets. And by the way, as much as I loved it, it does seem weird with all the other helmet stuff. And defenses player stuff and everything worried about the head. It does seem weird. There are a lot of basically punch agai in the head of your an offensive player like that. As long as you don't grab the facemask you're allowed to do that. That is vicious. That's like a right a right hook or at least a jab. So you gotta go back and check that out. If you didn't..

"He's the star of the show you follow his Twitter handle it. So impressive. Fran Duffy at Duffy three. On Twitter. He worked for the Philadelphia Eagles. He's the video and scouting guru over there such an awesome opportunity for us to have him working with us on this podcast. Today's guest will be Dan Rubenstein from the solid verbal podcast, which is an awesome. Awesome college football podcast really looking forward to talking to Dan. We are breaking down the SEC today. We always save the best for last next week by the way, how about a preseason mock draft? You can me how much fun is that gonna be preseason mock draft with Fran a week from now. Right now, though it's time to get to Dan. He's our best available interview. Still available interview very excited. As I mentioned for today's guest, Dan Rubenstein Rubinstein, what is it? Dan Anderson? I think you're now. Rubenstein Rubinstein. Okay. From the solid verbal podcast. So you guys have a really popular show man. What's what's the secret to the success. Just hitting record as much as humanly possible. And when there are weeks where we don't feel like it do it anyway when there are times where we are on the road and wouldn't really want record, we bring our microphones and we really discovered that so much of sports coverage from the fan perspective, even from the media perspective can get a little bit snarky and we sort of came to the realization that we'd love college football and it's not that we don't talk about negative stories. It's not that we don't try to get everything from every angle. But like this year when we're previewing these divisions, we're just trying to figure out why you should care about pretty much every team to just give people a reason to enjoy college football because we only have it for like three and a half months. So I think people respond to that giving people a reason to care is a is a cool way. I think to look at it. I like that a lot. That's awesome. And I love college football. I get a chance to call both college and NFL games and I don't know, man, I, there's just something about the band's. There's something about the charge in tree. I- I- jokingly say that college fans go to the game, cheer NFL fans go to the game too. Yeah, a little bit of a different atmosphere, but we wanna talk SEC today we've been doing a preview series so we we are mainly a draft podcast. So we focus on the best prospects, the best players and discuss them year round. And then you know, going into wants the game start. We talk about the match ups of the best prospects, right? So maybe it's, you know, Jona Williams against an edge rusher from Georgia, whoever, right? So that's kind of what we do. And I wanted to t. up on some players that that you in particular wanted to talk about. And so here's my thing. Okay, Dan, I'll just give it a little sneak preview the three guys. You wanted to talk about greedy Williams, Jake from and deebo Samuel. Okay. You pick the to do with the awesomeness names course deebo and you. Guy that I believe every three months has some sort of outdoor sports incident or injury, whether it's like fishing or hunting or something. Is that, is that why these are the three guys you picked? Absolutely. This is absolutely correct. There's actually a lot of I didn't even think about this in terms of the NFL draft, but it's it's pretty simple to put it in those terms actually. And as for your last point, there's something kind of great about especially a quarterback who is active, who is not just a quarterback, who experiences the world who can connect with people in different environments. Carson Wentz is a big hunter. Aaron Rodgers is a big, traveler know. Tom Brady might be sort of one track minded, but I think that's rare. Sam darnold was a three sport guy in high school, and you know, it's just wired a little bit differently and Jake from I like that fearlessness I like that he is developed as a human being. I think that goes a long way for quarterback. So I didn't do that on purpose, but I can appreciate it. Let's let's talk Jake from because I had I had him in the US army bowl a year ago, or I guess a year and a half ago now at this point.

"Greg guides fran duffy here i'm really glad you you mentioned that because not only a quarterback to i think of positions across the game you think as a who the best of the best star whether it's richard sherman and jj watt luke keithly in joe thomas and you know all these guys all the guys are considered the best of the best i at their position for years and years at a time all seemed to share that kind of relentless pursuit of perfection and to be the best and uh absolutely as is the case of quarterback so we ask you now for on the field do kinda have a couple of traits him every two or three traits on onfield uh that you feel our most important when watching these college guys and projecting them that really translate best to the nfl oh accurate first and foremost and i mean if you can't hit the famed bought ten at a pen from fifteen yards away it's going to be very difficult for you to have a meant amount of except in the nfl and accuracy in college is different than accuracy the nfl in college it hit a guy in stride bright it wherever it is on his body to send them it's tried that's good depend on his chest that's i never thought his face myth that's good it's one foot in front of the numbers nuts great in the nfl it hit him in the face mask every time and unless you're throwing aslan third in breaking route where you're running away from defender in which case you might wanna body guy up through the ball of his by i mean he literally the margin for error in the nfl is so much higher than that.
