"You're turned away with chris. Rob is delay. Is that prescott elite. What say you. This reminds me of last year after game one last year after game one. We had a big argument. Because you tried to tell me that Patrick mahomes was the clear favourite as mvp after week. One and i tried to tell you that after week one. No he was not as we know. 'cause i was after game one. Nobody played and you had deemed him as the mvp. And i think he got one vote last year. So i do you watch this project. One game no not not far good. That's fine your your noses even played. You don't want to make i get it. I understand it. You are afraid to make predictions about a flare predicted. Let me let me finish. I get it you got bird way. Back what nine years ago you say. "All right seven hundred ninety nine or foxborough turned away in Do you think received was underestimating underrating. Lebron had he played in the nineties would have just been able to hold his own. I let's kick it off with a lawrence in orlando. You're on the odd couple fox sports radio. Hey chris rob thank you very much for have with a pleasure talking to you guys always love you guys job Sorry the bronco. I think what she meant. hold his own i think. Something that some Sometimes we don't talk about the mental aspect of playing in the nineties and the mental aspect that comes with a physical toll that it was associated with the kind of basketball that was played. And i feel like that's something that has been a question. People have had lebron mental toughness. And i think that becoming a dominant player in this era may require a slight lesser level of mental toughness that it did then due to the level of physicality that most of those players played with so he may be holding his own. I don't think she's not saying. Lebron isn't a great great basketball player but the difference being being dominant basketball player in that time period little bit level a level of mental toughness. That may not exist at this time and this era well fail the yeah and i think again you know i think lebron i do think is mentally tough player but i think people look at what happened against dallas in twenty eleven and hold that against him for his whole career but i think he'd learn grew from that and magic. Remember rob in eighty three eighty four. He had the real just a horrible series against the celtics. Greatest point guard ever dribbled out the clock and bad passes and turnovers and they were calling. You tragic johnson. That was kind of a mitchell. Mentally was out of it and of course he bounced back. So i i do. Think the greatest of the great which lebron magic art and a few others they They can even get mentally tougher because the game and excelling at the game means so much to them. And i think that's what lebron did and i think that's what he would have done. Had he played back then but good yup good call their lawrence. Appreciate you in orlando. What about just in phoenix urine. The couple fox sports radio. What up justin fellas. Y'all are.

"I mean rob you watch games from back in the day and liked the ninety s obviously the eighties but the ninety s and the game was around the paint right. You know what. I'm saying like everything was around the paint. God's will pass up open nineteen footers all the time if they were like shooters and even if they were sometimes not always shooter like that pistons run when they won that championship. Chris in two thousand four. You remember there was scoring eighty. He points and winning. That was that they held. Was it eleven straight games or thirteen opponents under eighty points. Chris like it was incredible. No my my first year. My first team. I it as a beat writer. Ninety five ninety six season was the cleveland cavaliers. Mike fratello was the coach to rail brandon. Bobby fields christmas saw okays guys like that right there. They were one of the most talented teams in the league. So fratello did this. Czar was slow it down rob and rob. It was commonplace. I don't mean. I don't even mean once a week. It was commonplace for their games to be in the seventies white commonplace and sometimes in the sixties occasionally like it was just a much different game much more physical much more inside out out than today's game so is different but i do disagree with rashid. I i think the brown would have been just as dominant as he is today in a slightly different way but i still think he would have emerged as the second best player of all time. But now it's time to throw it out to you. A seventy seven ninety nine on fox. Eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Do you agree with rasheed wallace. That had lebron. James played in the late nineties. Olen he would have been able to hold his own. Whatever that means hold his own versus become the dominant superstar and some some people's minds the goat. Robbing me say the second best player of all time would he have become that had he played in the more physical nineties. You'll turn away and with the couple fox sports radio. Be sure to catch. "Rarely the right play. Sometimes it is. But it usually isn't and and i could argue that. Have they had played better than if they had that if they were in the every single year that if they were in the world series more than once that you would seen enough from this team that said you know what they're worth keeping together. This team candidly was not worth keeping together. They were they. Were not right now now. They're they're going to be legend forever but they are. They're not a good team right now and so rather than double down and and hope that happens again when it didn't happen in seventeen eighteen nineteen twenty or twenty one. That's five straight years it just it. It would not make sense to me to keep them together. And i think they made the the approach which is start over. Get young and find the next group of young players that your fans are gonna fall in love with jon morosi. Mlb insider for fox sports radio be another hundred years for the cubs. Win it. you never know and you know the game you were there covering the reds and the you know the game my friend i trust i trust your analysis. John the mets obviously lead the nl east got about three and a half game lead wa but they bad news. Today about jacob. Degrom out until september Do you think they can hold on without him. Well chris that's an excellent question. And i think that we're gonna see now the nfl. He's became a really interesting race because we the the nfl west. And harold reynolds made this point today on emily network the the. Nfl bus has got a lot of pub this year for good reason. They've got probably three of the best teams if not the three best teams in the nfl. The milwaukee's but very good this year. But we've talked so much about that. Great three team race out there but i think the nfl race now is about to get really good. Because the mets bring in bias was a fun pickup a lot of energy. The braves made a really nice move. At the at the buzzer there to bring richard rodriguez as a reliever that really helps stabilize the bullpen. They remade the outfit with duval. And rosario the phillies brought in gibson and and kennedy in one move from texas so you saw the three teams get better. But you're right on degrom and this is where guys. I tell you i i. I really struggle with jacob from the standpoint of what you can expect from him going forward because when he's on the mound is clearly the best on the planet. He's been amazing but he's really had about six weeks where he's been pretty consistent this year and the rest of the time you've been missing star three he's been out and and that's just you can't. You can't win that way. So so..

Some most will most won't be bus but most certainly won't be stars won't live up to right right. There are not thirty new stars in the nba. That's what i'm trying to say is not just not does not way to you guys about right right that draft. Show the way you talk about him is like everybody's got something there. Oh oh yeah wait till doug it and what are you going to do like wait. Wait till list. Wait till we heard all those stories still yet. You have the kwamena brown. The first guy that you right right. Hey darko help to win the championship his rookie year right. That's right but yeah it's it's sad but let look they're gonna make their money. Hopefully they'll be smart with their money. Hopefully they can get a second contract right but somebody's guys who've been superstars their entire careers. Rob you know junior high high school college is going to be ruffling basketball wise. League gra he made five hundred thousand dollars as a what eighteen nineteen year old in the g. league and he's about to be the second pick of the draft. Here's what i'm gonna say and we bring this up because dyson daniels who is a top prospect. He's actually from australia but he is going to. The g. league. He's actually the first player to go to the g. league. Who's not from america. So now they're getting players from different parts of the country and our. I'm sorry different. Parts of the world by. I do think is a better player. But they're not this far. Maybe it's the intangible. I you agree with me. It sounds like they're not. As far as i think just counts remain player to any top topless curry's intriguing because he's hit the big shot but not the big the bmc. He's he's on the campaign pm saying skill he said ask you. You can't question that right now. I feel i feel you. I gonna tell you this about trae. The i mean logic about two years ago. I spoke with trae in spoke with his dad and we all know his dad could go. He got super game and he said in is when trey was going through his struggles in his first year. I say i like him. He works hard. I liked any say man trade None yet he's not strong enough. He's not physical in the lane. He doesn't finish well. He shooting tomb and his dad. You know most daddy's don't do that and he trying to get better at that point and and towards the second half of that year he start looking like what we expected. So i saw this progression. Because he's got the right people around him. He's got the right circle he's dead. Ain't coddling him telling he the best thing since sliced where he liked. All you got your work to do you know. And that's why ray young. His dad is so confident in speaking out four and then he got nick the other day if was they are so confident speaking for his son. Trevor Lawrence Reaffirms His Dedication to Football

"Controversy that broke out this week. I mean, the kind of stuff that when you really think about it could affect opinions. Apparently, Trevor Laurence doesn't have it ship on his shoulder. Now, um, let's think about the absurdity of this for just a moment, Miss all came from a Sports Illustrated article. In which basically I guess if you really wanted to read into it, which A lot of you sure did. Kind of thought that this questioned the overall passion. For Trevor, Laurence and football and I quote It's not like I need this for my life to be okay. I want to do it because I want to be the best I can be. I want to maximize my potential. Who wouldn't want to You kind of wasted if you know. He added. Whenever asked about Maintaining a healthy attitude without finding extra motivation in every actual or perceived slider. Disrespect. Dr Lawrence said. Hard to explain that because I want people to know that I'm a passionate guy and I'm passionate about what I do, and it's really important to me. But Don't have this huge chip on my shoulder. Don't have this huge and ship that everyone's out to get me and I'm not trying to prove everybody wrong. I just don't have that I can't manufacture that. I don't want to. I think that's unhealthy. To a certain extent. Just always thinking that you've got to prove somebody wrong. You've got to doom or you've got to be better. By the way, when I first read that I kind of thought that's a shot of Baker Mayfield. I'm just being honest. That's the first thing that came to mind because what is my man? What a six always have in Cleveland. He got chip on his shoulder. And it might even be manufactured, but he is always He is always going to play up the fact that he's being disrespected

"There to team. Both you and i have picked to win the championship but injuries are really just playing a game on them. I mean my goodness kevin durant missed the last twenty three games with a hamstring injury. He set to come comeback the next game tomorrow night. And yet james harden who's been not only an iron man for the most part sister trae rob to brooklyn. He's been an iron man for his career. You know in the last eight years since his first year in houston only three other. Nba players have played more games. James heart so he's an iron man yet. He is out for the next ten days at least looks like that could be four or five games with a hamstring injury. Does this concern you. This is i not at all. I'm not concerned. I think it's good fodder and conversation to have but i'm just not just if they're hurt chris compla- off time down with you. Then i'll look up and go concern yes to now full the not whole firepower and it's four out of seven if it's a one game. Ncaa single elimination tournament and they got it could beat absolutely. I'm saying right here right now. That if those guys are altogether and ready to play come playoff time. They will win the championship. Now two guys are out and of course it's going to be a crap shoot but i'm not going to sit here in april six and go. Whoa is me out. They can't win or men heard whatever i just. I'm not buying that. And let me see kevin durant come back and if kevin davis kevin durant kyrie for now and in a week or two weeks durant i mean heart joins them and then they get it together before we get ready for the playoffs. I'm cool. they've just keep winning regardless because they have other good players and i'm not saying they're going to win a championship without one of the three. But i'm just not going to sit here and and fred if you told me that hardens not playing again then yet chris i think all bets are off. I won't be able to sit here and say they're going to win the championship for sure. I believe nobody can beat that team for out of seven. The interesting thing is this. And i'm the i'm not coming off the pick but this is unprecedented. I mean what they're trying to do is already virtually unprecedented winning it in your first year. That's not unprecedented doing with the first year coach who's never coasted any other level. That's not wholly unprecedented. Steve kerr did the same thing what what is unprecedented is that they have played so little together When boston won in two thousand eight with their big. Three of ray allen and kevin garnett and paul pierce they played the whole season together and even still had struggles with seven in the first two rounds and then six in conference finals and the championship round If they could easily enter the playoffs with their big three having played fifteen games together. And maybe it could be fewer than that. But i'll say fifteen to twenty somewhere in there and for them to win it now that we have seen many teams this talented. I give you that but that would be. I mean that will be flouting. History are the regular season will probably never be seen the same way you know. I mean this guy but this is unusual because so talented and the it's an arms race and they have so much talent and and even the other night the knicks were up at ten by a to have only. We was playing out of this stars. He got forty they want..

"In jail is does it feel like that to your or no defense because there's a really similar pattern alleged in most of the case but i think it's important to remember a lot of the cases. You know alleged that he touched women with with his genitals and that's as far as it went. There are a couple of cases where there's allegations of forced oral sex or forcible touching and those are more serious. The woman who spoke today she her complaint is that there is an indecent assault. And technically that's just a misdemeanor. So he might if even if that she filed a criminal complaint even if that went to trial or whatever he could he could try to play on that and just get probation but busby saying that there was at least one other woman who has filed a criminal complaint and more to come so i think it becomes in the cosby realm if you have one of the women who alleged forcible oral sex which is a felony. It's she filed a criminal complaint then it becomes in the cosby round. Okay thank you. Claiming what would your if you were representing the sean. At this point rusty hardin of course is his council. What would your strategy be at this point after you've seen all happened it's really tough. I mean i've seen what has strategy strategy today. So you know they're saying blackmail they're saying consent. They're attacking the attorney. I think it's just the strategy here would be if there is any type of criminal charge from the prosecutor. You plead that out right away. Because like i said some of these are just misdemeanors And even even on the felony it just depends on how much supporting evidence there is. I do think there is a weakness in terms of evidence to tony. busby's cases. He he did talk about the evidence that he was gonna be make public today. And if that's all the evidence that he has some direct messages were you know evidence of nondisclosure agreements. I mean is that is that a little bit out of the ordinary. yes but. I don't think that the evidence i've seen to date would be strong enough to corroborate the definitely. Something happened so it really becomes a. He said she said. Let me ask you a dip in cases where people have gotten gone to prison for life. Nobody found no gun. Steno circumstantial is the burden of proof higher here and fortunately you're talking about people who don't have a lot of money. That's who that usually happens to a lot of money. So i don't but you know it's horrible that are that are systems that way but you know what i'm saying i've seen go to jail for that people. Yes and here and here. I'm not going to downplay it. If you have twenty two character. Witnesses backing up one woman if it goes the criminal route. Yeah that's really powerful. And and as we saw today from the press conference tony busby even attacked one of the women who came out and defended watson whose massage therapist and said that he was a great guy and he read a direct message from this woman..

Drew Brees, Saints rework contract to save almost $24M in cap space

"And Drew Brees agreed to a restructuring of his contract. You're probably thinking, Oh, man, he is coming back when they don't know they restructured his 24 plus million dollar contract down to the veteran's minimum of like a million and change. Why would they do that? Well because he's going to retire. And so that way it opens up that cap space and they've got that available and ready so that they sort of know where they're at. And so that, so that was just a sign an indication that Drew Brees. He's done there already, you know, going through the motions, and it's over. Is anybody surprised that Drew Brees because also, Sean Payton said he expects a for a decision from Drew Brees next week. Report: New York Mets GM admits explicit texts to female reporter

"Report tonight and they have a lot of it verified by Jared Porter himself. Jared Porter is the Mets general manager who was hired by Sandy Alderson when he came in to run baseball operations following Steve Cohen bought the team. Well, According to this ESPN report, Jared Porter sent explicit unsolicited text and images to a female reporter in 2016 when he was with the Cubs that culminated with a picture of an erect Naked male member this, according to a copy of the text history that was obtained by ESPN. Here's the details, and then I'll tell you why. I can't believe he hasn't been let go. Already. The woman was a foreign correspondent who moved to the United States to cover Major League baseball. They had a chance meeting in an elevator. And she thought Jared Porter yellow. Jared Porter is working for the Cubs, and she was making a connection in networking. So they exchange information. Uh, that's the only time they actually spoke, was in that elevator when they met. So then Jared Porter and this woman start texting with each other and he text her. Hey, we should get together. We should have a drink, and he's texting her a lot, right. He's texting her a lot. And she's responding once every you know if you text Hey, let's get it. Let's have a drink. Let's do this. Let's do that on. They didn't meet for a drink. One night after said she could meet with him Jared Porter, sending unsolicited selfie of himself just a selfie of himself. It's me in this picture is in the ESPN article, and he wrote back like And she didn't respond. Uh Then he texted the next day saying, Why aren't we hanging out? You're so pretty. Do you have a boyfriend? It could be me on this is going on now for a few days. After she sent a selfie Now she sends a selfie back to him. And Porter responded. You're gorgeous. You want more of me? She said yes. Explaining the ESPN. I thought it would be awkward to say no, I didn't think of where it would progress. Then Porter sent three pick. Yeah, this is where l k doors opened an escalating quickly horses out of the barn. Porter then sent three pictures, including the first of several that would show a man lying on a bed with a bulge in his pants. The woman was initially confused. Quarter wrote like she laughed again and texted. Yes, though she told ESPN Shin and realized the intention of the photo taken. You're not married, she asked. So okay, so here's little bit of him, sending a lot of text and it seems a little weird Stalker ish and some stuff you wouldn't send. But she is sending back to him, and she's sending things like yes, and liking pictures that he sent So then she realizes that things were getting to a sexual nature and she doesn't respond. Quarter than saying. This is this is the big deal. Porter then sent 62 unanswered texts. 62, including seven photos. That included the final nude photo of a naked male member. Now. When Jared Porter was asked about this, he admitted sending the text and then when he was asked, Are these pictures of you? He said, No. Those air stock images so apparently the Cassis I went on Twitter and found a stock image of I went looking for male members everywhere. It's all I got to use. This one wanted representative, I guess. Yeah, I gotta get going. Does that have that? Have a birthmark? Does that of this was And so that's what he said. He said Then, when ESPN told them we're running a story on this, Do you want to comment? Jared Porter stopped and didn't call them back. The Mets released a statement tonight saying they have spoken with Jared Porter, and they will have Maura after they do their own investigation with this now, obviously, this is just happening, and you can make an argument in the in the in the first part of it that Well, what was he overboard? She have sent those texts? No, he shouldn't have. But she did send back responses that were in the positive of Yes. So he thinks, okay, I'm cool, sending these images to you, and then when she cuts it off, that's where things get back because then 62 texts. That go unanswered. And then you're still still sending naked pictures of of male members. Uh, yeah. You know Jared Porter, I think you've had your last day Has Mets GM. I mean, I know what happened when you were with the Cubs. I understand that. But this is a horrible optic that the Mets don't need the entire time. He's GM Who's gonna take him seriously, who forget about whatever charge you might face for stalking or Harassment. Whatever it is, Uh, really? You're gonna keep this guy around. I just don't see it. I mean, I just don't know. Is it gonna happen in 12 hours is going to happen in 10 minutes, but the Mets can't go forward him is the G M. Because at the very least, this is a really bad optic. They don't need that. Just going to embarrass the entire organization and they need to say you know what? Jared, I'm sorry. But, boy, this is too much for us and good luck and you're done and we're gonna have a new GM. And we're gonna call Jason Smith that Fox Sports radio because he's got a finger on the pulse. "Year here on Fox Sports Radio live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. By way of Nashville, Tennessee. The crew was in L. A Chris professor Brian Finley, Eric Roberts. Gets our picks and a third hour of the show. We'll hear from them throughout, I believe as well. Hope you're well Happy New Year to you from everybody at Fox Sports Radio and Happy New Year to Bernie Friday Mackenzie rivers and the crew. From straight out of Vegas always enjoyed listening to them on the way and they keep me awake honestly, because You might be on the West Coast listening right now at midnight. Well, it's 2 a.m. here. I had to turn the light off very carefully. And then walk out of the home so they didn't wake up my wife on the way out. It's always kind of hard to come in to do the 2 to 5 A.m. on Sunday mornings kind of kind of Just a interesting way to begin your weak but Final week of the NFL regular season We will break it all down. We'll talk about who's getting in and who's not. And what makes sense and what doesn't over the next three hours, But college football has kind of taken. The country by storm. Not necessary. Like I didn't care about a and M and Carolina let me just be honest with you. I am watched Georgia and Cincinnati because it felt like Georgia wanted to be there. And Cincinnati was obviously going to play their guts out and I watched a good bit of football yesterday. As a matter of fact, Obviously, I watched the two semi final games two days ago. But Don't watch that. I even watched a little college hoops. But I want to talk about the Texas story because incomes Steve Starkey easy in and out goes Tom Herman. I have. I don't want to pat myself on the back. But I guess that's what I'm gonna do. Full, Very Horowitz style here to open the Jason Martin show in this first show of 2021. Put a list together. I used to do a show. It's six PM in Nashville. And so I put it always put together a list of six So I put it put together a list of the six most overrated people in sports. This list was, I guess this would have been three years ago. That list included John Grune. It included John Wall. Paul George. Kurt Cousins. There's one other one that I am forgetting blanking on maybe to come back to me. Oh, Jim Harbaugh. We've talked about him many times this year and then The other guy on that list was this man by the name of Tom Herman. Who had seen a ton of success that Houston and become the head coach at Texas. I don't want to make it clear again as I always do when I do this. That list of six was not a bunch of scrubs. It was just people that I didn't believe deserved. Quite the level of hype they were receiving overrated doesn't mean trash. It just means I don't know that they're worth what we're seeing. So Tom Herman goes to Texas. And Tom Herman is now out in Texas. Steve Starkey Zeon isn't Steve Starkey. Xena's making 2.5 Mil a season as the O. C for Nick Saban at Alabama, yet another OC that Nick statement's gonna have to replace this is why I continually point out to anybody willing to listen that it makes almost no sense to hire a defensive head coach. Especially in the NFL, because In order for you to have a tough flight offense. You've got to have a great offensive coordinator. And if you have a great offensive coordinator, he's probably not going to be around very long. Because somebody else is going to snatch him up to be. They're showing big day. Or there, Andy Reid. Whoever it is the flavor of the month, but its offense that's winning the day right now. So look at saving at Alabama Lane given gone, and a rehab project, just like Steve Sarkisian was a rehab project. Mike Locksley gone head coach in Maryland. This is what we're going to continue to see. Look at the Tennessee Titans right now. Matt Leflore. Where is he? Not the offensive coordinator at Tennessee. He wasn't even there. A full year calendar year. He was there for one season wasn't even impressive and now is with Aaron Rodgers is the top seed in the NFC. Arthur Smith is on everybody short list right now. So far, Abel's going to be looking for another OC next year, one would assume This is through across the board. Look at who's getting jobs in the NFL. Look at what's happened in Cleveland. Now that they've got somebody ready for that job. There's probably a year or two. He could have been a coach two years ago, and that's Kevin Stefanski offensive guy. Boom. All of a sudden they're rolling. Who else is on the short list for everybody? Brian Table That's just the way that it rolls right now. So stark easy. It's just another example of Nick Saban. Whoever's running his offense probably gonna succeed because the recruiting is outrageous. I mean, look at the receiving talent. Look at the running back's look at the quarterbacks as they have gone from being gay managers. Two guys that can wing it, whether it's to a Or Mack Jones or whoever it's going to be to follow him. This is kind of the way that it has rolls. But Tom Herman loses his job in Texas. This is not a surprise. He was 32 18 in four years, a Texas when seven and three this season. Beat Colorado on Tuesday in the Alamo Bowl. 32 18. And Tom Herman was pretty great at Houston. I don't want to talk about Tom Herman not being good enough to be the head coach of Texas. I want to talk about outsized expectations at various jobs. In this country in college football. I was talking about this with a couple of people, a couple of friends, a couple people in media..

The Latest: Kershaw, Dodgers take Game 1 over Rays

"Vast fox sports radio networking glad you have chosen to spend A couple minutes with us and there is no debate. There is no debate where we begin this night, a radio the fall classic surfing the Blue Wave Cowabunga Dod's the Fall Classic, starting in a neutral site. Kind of on Tuesday night with Joe Buck every night, you get ajob of game and John Smalls calling the game on Fox. Did you watch? Maybe not will see that I don't imagine the ratings will be very good for this Thegame was lopsided in there's one team that has a fan base and another one that doesn't a national fan base for the Dodgers. Put on a pyrotechnics show. It was like the Fourth of July. Boom Bang Bam! The Dodger offense When Cody Bellenger Mookie Betts hit homeruns Clayton Kershaw mowing down Tampa haters like it was an April started Dodger Stadium on by the time The damage he'd done. Ella ended up spit roasting the raise 8 to 3 and Game one of the 2020 World Series for the Dodgers Get a leg up on the best of seven series now three wings away. From their first championship as a franchise since 1988 When Ronald Reagan was the president, Tommy Lasorda was waddling in the dugout and Kurt Gibson got wanted bat and hit a home run and is at all time legend because of that, as a Dodger, So let us discuss the question. What are your big takeaways? From Game one of the World Series, a domination situation for the Dodgers. So I've got the white whale hand grenades and Smurfs and we will tie all these things together. Now we talk about the World Series. Game one. You start with us. Accounts on Lee is just one game. It doesn't matter that much in the big picture. It's only one game. However. I'm going to disagree with that statement because the feeling that one gets watching Game one of the World Series from the Dodgers side of things. It's like hitting a two team parlay. It doesn't seem like a one win situation. Night, so don't undersell the importance of a game one win for Los Angeles and I'll tell you why. Because the Dodgers winning a Clayton Kershaw playoffs start As easy as a B C. 123. Is not something that happens very often, right. You feel like you dodged a bullet when you win a Kershaw game in the playoffs in a big play off game, Kershaw has been the dog with fleas in the postseason. And while many of my colleagues on television like to downplay Clayton Kershaw's missteps on radio, we don't do that We don't his World Series resume coming in. I would have him in the bread line. If that was his resume. What into an E? R. A of over five he had pitched in 26 2 3rd innings given up 16 earned runs. Over four starts in five games. But on this night, it reminded and voice in my head. It was Dick Stockton, who told me years ago stats tell you what has happened. They don't tell you what's going to happen. And that was a vintage regular season type of Kershaw performance. And you see that in a big play off game as often as you see a white whale swimming around the ocean, right? Clayton Kershaw got 38 swings. 19. Mrs. He had a whiff rate of 50%. Now the stat geeks tell us that that is the highest Of Clayton Kershaw's career, whether it be the postseason or the regular season that half the time it was S O matter, Miss. That is what's known as flexing your muscles, and it wasn't just Kershaw. Cody Bellenger, Mookie Betts. Max Muncy all had big days. The conga line kept moving. You keep pressure on your opponent 10 hits, they got seven walks. The Dodgers drew seven walks and, more importantly than that. They actually hit when they had runners in scoring position. They batted 3 57 on this day with runners in scoring position. They were five out of 14 follow the ways and is a key. You follow the wisdom often, American legend Will Rogers You never get a second chance to make a first impression. The Dodgers they made their first impression. Now you've got to back that up. You have backed that up in Game two in Game three, but you only played one game and the Dodgers the more talented team they didn't play down to their competition. They played like they were the superior opponent in this matchup. We certainly hope that continues were slightly biased on this now. Part B. If you would like to knit pick That's one of these. We get paid to do hear on the radio. Always to pick apart things in micro analyze. Dave Roberts fell back into some old analytical principles. We were hoping that his gut feeling managerial move. The other night would continue. It did not in this game, managing Clayton Kershaw. For Dave Roberts is like juggling hand grenades. One wrong move one wrong move and your head gets blown off. And I understand partially what Roberts is thinking. Because when I'm watching Clayton Kershaw, I'm thinking, OK, Here's where it all falls apart goes to hell right here, right. This is going to be the inning. It all goes to crap. In a playoff situation. But on this night Kershaw he was dealing He'd only thrown 78 pitches. Through six innings. And ah, very effective there. The Rays hitters were completely flummoxed against Kershaw as we gave you some of the numbers there of 50% with weight, and despite the Dodgers having a huge advantage there up eight tow one. They, Roberts Arbitrarily said. That's it. We're going to take you out of the game. I'd rather take you out of half inning. Too early, then a half inning too late. So that brought in Dillon Florio, who wasn't good and then and then Roberts panic because the Rays attempted the pin shit G may enjoy And so Roberts ran out of the dog and I got to make a change. I

"The geico Fox Sports radio studios to get us caught up on everything that happened today in the world to spoil yes what's up Steve hello gentlemen and we'll have a lot of NFL news in a moment I like the fact that you brought up the fact that the pistons did not shake the opponent's hands after they lost to the bulls in the playoffs it is so weak and Isaac can try and explain it away saying Hey we didn't happen in there they just showed clips of it happening in that era in fact from the team that you beat the previous two years so that is there's just so many examples around nineteen ninety of how the pistons were great on the scoreboard and not great if they're actually giving the finger when this is another example of that and the fact that the whole Jordan rules things on the one hand you have course it's great to devise something the basketball nuts and bolts that they pointed out in the document of not letting him drive baseline pushing him out to the elbow great give it a shot but really the the concept became with the pistons just have a series of flagrant files because that player is so much better than we are this is what we hate about sports actually log in it's like the home run hitter where you just throw at him it's because he's better than you deal with it in some actual sports way it's what we do it's what we hate about soccer where everybody gets filed on break aways why because he's better than you it's just I didn't ever could I still can't added to it and I again giving other sports examples of how it just shouldn't be that way if we're on the court how about trying to win like you know be good at your sport Jordan was just better I mentioned last week on the show how I love watching the early bowls Jordan highlights and it really showed people how awesome he was when he had nothing around him then there was just a stand out quote in tonight's I think episode three he said Pippen's injured robin just got kicked out you left me alone out there yeah I believe it was five on five still Michael here it should be the last exactly a lot of F. bombs by the way in tonight's and I know they're running it on ESPN two also and so yeah there's an added on another channel but let's be honest ESPN's ratings until this past week I've just been atrocious in the last month and a half so they could have run this on four different channels they've got space let's just say that so if if we're like when they were wanting to run it in June I'm not sure if there would have been a secondary jail speaking as an editor it's just lazy to leave everything but once again I think we all agree those first two episodes last weekend were great and these next two tonight were great and I don't know what the numbers are going to be but the ratings were super for last weekend so probably more the same tonight and deservedly so we have N. F. L. news is mentioned in New Orleans gave quarterback Taysom hill a two year extension reportedly worth sixteen million dollars wow and you know he lined up at tight end eighty five snaps last season at quarterback forty one snaps reach the starters already re signed saints drafted a quarterback yesterday in the seventh round and quarterback Jameis Winston a free agent is expected to sign a one year contract with the saints after leading the league in interceptions with Tampa Bay last year Miami cut running back Samaje JP Ryan and three others the Seahawks release guard DJ Fluker Seattle according to the athletic is due to cut center Justin Britt Tulane basketball's leading scorer to Sean high tower was arrested and charged with murder high tower average sixteen points a game it had declared for the NBA draft about a week ago today's virtual NASCAR race went to Alex Bowman at Santa Anita another death on the horse racing track in LA this weekend that makes it since they opened the track for the new season just after Christmas that's five dead on the main track another four horses dead on the turf course another three on the training crap they haven't raced for a month but they still had the horses allowed to train and people still live at the track but it just continues to pile up finally a good story Ryan Newman talking to fox today saying he'll be ready to race when NASCAR returns to competition amazingly he only spent a couple days in the hospital after that Daytona head injury if you don't recall he was racing for the lead final lap of the season opening Daytona five hundred spectacular crash he's airborne car hit by another car rolled several times came to a stop on the roof took several minutes to get him out of the car and transferred to a hospital he says he'll be good to go whatever NASCAR returns which could be a month or so NASCAR did say in a statement Ryan Newman has not yet been cleared to return but quote we share his enthusiasm.

"Podcast a variety of guests Until we get back into the football season myspace is generally for Rj Bell or we talk about lines a lot. But I thought I'd bring on Clay Travis. Lock it in every day on. F S One outspoken outkick the coverage host on Fox sports radio and he's always a rabble-rousing on the internet or he is just infuriating people. I I get a kick out of it. Clay is now joining us. I'll start with a political tonight. We a friend of mine called a couple days ago and I said Clay I said sometimes we get caught up in the Messenger and not the message I. I'm not a Bernie Sanders Fan He would not be somebody. I would vote for things about him. you can go back to nineteen eighty one today show with Phil Donahue. He's got the Ranch Down Pat. He gets right back on his message. He's a professional debater. He's very good at it. And he's a relentless campaigner. We've seen this the last two election cycles. There is something about him. Though beyond that Obama's message not just the Messenger. The message was I. I will pay attention to you. I'm the candidate who hasn't forgotten you. Trump's message that worked especially in the Upper Midwest. I have not forgotten you. I'm not a coastal snuggie. Elite Bernie's messaging is much the same. You've been forgotten by rich. People tack is separating us. I haven't forgotten you. Are we spending too much time? Discounting Bernie and not accounting for a very powerful message to people who feel and there's a lot of them. They've been forgotten. Well it is interesting to think about Bernie and trump not so much as different versions of At different versions of the same guy and he went. I probably understand this a little bit better because we talked to the masses every day but a lot of times what people who are quote unquote political professionals. Don't realize is there. Were a lot of people in New Hampshire back. In Two thousand sixteen. When Donald Trump was running for president and Bernie Sanders running for president of the Democrat. That made a decision about who to vote for between Bernie and Donald Trump people out there who are quote unquote political professional. They assume that everybody has a defined political philosophy. When you actually work at People's political philosophies what you find out is only like ten or fifteen percent of people in the United States. Have a coherent political philosophy by which I mean. They don't believe in things. That are complete opposites very often what people respond to if they're not so there's a certain segment of let's say forty percent are going to be. Democrats no matter what forty percent we're GONNA be Republicans no matter what. They are fans for lack of a better term up. Those franchises those political parties and they're going to support them right. There's another twenty percents that will vacillate by large even in today's air back and forth between the two parties and I think what you said is correct I think that Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump both speak at times to a similar audience which is just angry at the way the world exist now and why some sort of massive change Even if it's more difficult to make that happen then maybe they realized it's interesting trump one beverly hills in L. A. County. The richest part of Los Angeles of the the the many nice affluent enclaves Beverly Hills is the richest and Beverly Hills is right next to Hollywood and the reason this is because trump is good for money. He's good for business now. The Dow is plunging now due to the corona virus But with trump I got two calls from prominent Democratic Democrat friends in the last week and they commented on the Bob Arum quote. Which is I'm just GonNa hold my nose and vote for trump whereas you don't have to tell people who you vote for I think the money crowd among Democrats would-be more loyal to their 401k. And their business. Then they would the party. But you don't say it at a ritzy Hollywood or coastal party. My question about Bernie is are are wealthy. Democrats when it gets into the booth willing to vote for an avowed socialist. I don't think they are. I agree with you and I will. I'm obviously not GONNA out any of them but I think that I am going to end up. If it's trump versus Bernie. I said this on my radio show the other day. I said I'm a capital. I'm GonNa vote for Donald Trump. I've never voted for Republican for President. I voted for Gary Johnson and Sixteen Obama in a way And Twelve I worked on Al Gore's presidential campaign in two thousand people like to say. Oh Clay Travis you know. He's a for right wing. I very middle of the road right. I'm pro-choice death-penalty Pro Growth Pro Business You know I want the Pie. To constantly be expanding capitalist. I'm a big Fan of Jeff as on a fan of of You know guys that now. It's certainly Popular Dot the White Right Billionaires I think should be emulated. I love Warren Buffett. Charlie bunker who works with him. I love reading what they say in their life. Philosophies I am of that opinion by the way the Democrat. So this idea that you're rich George Soros Bu- Buffet Bill. Gates Their Democrats. Yes and And and their capitalist and so I am up to Bill Clinton model of capitalism when it comes to Democrats That's kind of my political Lodestar. You'RE GONNA use anybody to point to Bill Clinton is probably my favorite president that we've had in my lifetime I'm forty But you would be the one that I would not withstanding the scandals and everything else. I think he was really good at what he did. I think he's really great politician. I think he governed a little bit. Maybe left of center but pretty much right down the middle he was he was more. It was more of an economic centrists that anybody wants to admit he was mostly Pro Wall Street. Yeah exactly and I think the guys like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates You know in my opinion if Bill Gates makes billions of dollars in Warren Buffett makes billions of dollars. Look at what those guys are doing. I don't WanNa tax them at ninety percent. I would rather Bill Gates create the Bill Gates Fan Foundation and try to eliminate malaria. I would rather that Warren Buffett's give all his money back in In ways that he believes is more constructive. Because I believe that Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are probably better at figuring out how to spend their bunny having made as much money as they have at figuring out ways to make the world better by spending their money then the government would be if it took it away from them right. So that's kind of my thought process here. I have hurt from a lot of people who I never believed. Whatever CONSIDER VOTING FOR DONALD TRUMP? Who have said I will vote for Donald Trump if Bernie Sanders wins because ultimately while I think trump is is reckless and Behaves in a way that I think it's beneath the dignity of the office of President. He's a capitalist. And ultimately I believe that the decisions that he makes will be by what he can get passed by the Senate by what he can get passed by potentially a democratic house. And I think the damage that he could do in four more years is less substantial than the damage that four years of socialist government and Bernie Sanders could Could create and what troubles me call. And I'm starting to think about this a little bit to your little bit older than me. But I'm old enough to remember Russia and out there towards authoritarian governments. And what the far left can do and you only have to go down to Cuba and see what the far left can do. When it's given complete control? And so the fact that Bernie Sanders is saying. Oh you know. They have total literacy in Cuba. It's not like everything is awful. There that is Colin Kaepernick like in the comments that he's making and it's remarkably to me unsophisticated and lacking in knowledge. About what when one political arm of any country takes charge whether it's Fascism or communism? I'm not a big fan of the `ISMs and so so I tend to think that Donald trump is more likely to be To be regulated in the middle part of the country in some way than than Bernie Sanders. I'm more of a Mike Bloomberg Fan. Who I think he. I watched him for ten years. Run New York and I think intellectually philanthropic LII in managerial early. I don't think there's anybody including trump. That's as good as him now. he is not a great debater in Iowa. And I also think this if you put Nick Sabin on a panel with seven Dopey High School Coaches. It would pull down. Sabin Bloomberg is on panels and in debating. People he wouldn't hire. They're not good enough fire. They're pulling him down. He's not a yeller and he's not. Somebody hired to be on a debate show. That's not what he is so I think he's being pulled down by marginal people and limited people you know debating is a skill I think I think Elizabeth warns terrific as a debater. I think I think Bernie's great trump's very good bulldozes people was exceptional Can Bloomberg overcome a clear deficiency? He's more intellectual then. He is a debate debate worthy and I don't think you can correct that quickly calling. I Bet I'm like you when I watch. And maybe this is just me being cocky but I watched the debate through the Democrats and I think my God. If I was on this stage I would be crushing these people like I just don't think they're very good as debaters in general you and I talked the public every day for three hours. I think if you're on the stage you would be crushing these people. That doesn't mean that we would be better presidents than they would be but we would present better than many of these guys to do. You agree with that like well. I think it depends on the topic so I have the depth of a political acumen to go toe to toe. I I again. I think I think you studied had a sitting around and being you know like paying attention to where Tom Brady's GonNa go for his next Next job if you had really good. There's a skill set and I think it goes. It's an interesting question because the the real question is. Do we actually gain anything from the debate to me the debates a little bit like the combi right the NFL combines going on right now and you can see a guy go out and run the forty and you can see him in basically spandex go run and catch passes and see how many times you could bench press and all those things but ultimately what matters is what you do when you put the pads on the game happen. That's what being president is Harry. Truman said I think memorably being president is like riding tiger like You know there's no way to predict what's going to happen and it's basically impossible to know from one day to the next and so I feel like the. The debates are similar to the combine in that we try to Glean from the answers that people give to their their questions at the debates. What kind of president would be? And it's almost impossible to predict based on debates. Who's going to do a good job in the OSS? Let's shift to NFL owners who according to reports this week have a fear of Bernie Sanders winning the Democratic nomination worry of new potential taxes on billionaires if he wins the election and would like to get a new. Cba signed It certainly interesting and I. There's I could certainly make actually called my financial planner yesterday. And he said not only is the NFL thinking about this. There's a lot of people in the financial sector Who are thinking about this. They're going to change in the next two to three months. Pre Corona virus two to three weeks ago. This was a talking point. Bernie will Change the way business is done in America. Let me ask you this. Negotiated twelve contracts either myself or an agent seventeen games. If you were a player. You'd want something in return. What would you be? What would you because most players don't wanNA play seventeen games? What could I talk? Clay Travis into.

"Here's a taste of something that you missed from the Doug Gottlieb show. There are some realities to sports which people. Sometimes you have to get your head around. I said this about clay Travis offered up the hypothetical. Hey, why don't the Lakers trade? Lebron james. And wall as of right now that wouldn't be easy trade. Lebron James, Randi names is great but much like Anthony Antonio Brown. But you just you can't you can't build your entire advertising campaign season ticket base sell advertisements on your your own cable channel when you trade away. Lebron james. Doesn't work new realities of just like the realities of business are that they can't sit. Lebron? I've heard people like Jay Williams suggested. Hey, sit Lewis shut LeBron now for the year like the realities of business. Are you can't do that? He had people give good pigs. Good money to come and see LeBron James your season ticket holders, pay good money parking. They pay for their seat license. They pay for their seats. They wanna see LeBron James. And if you take that away it's like man, really we're gonna shut G league. Like, no, we've been doing that the past five years, we're not doing that. Now. So they're going to limit his minutes. So that he'll play more games. Shut him down back to back to back which mostly they'll shut them down on whatever the road game is a back to back because more important about their season. Ticket pays more about their cable network. I mean, that's that's the kind of realities of business. And until you can wrap your head around. I've heard there's some discussion to get the rest of what Doug said podcast searching the Doug Gottlieb show. And as always you can hear the dugout leaves show. Weekdays at three eastern, noon Pacific right here on Fox Sports radio. Peaceful. In your face. So he always takes responsibility and never calls out. Anyone doesn't deserve. Do.
