"But let's go ahead and spend the money because other than that, we have not been good at getting the quarterback or developing one. So that's why the overpayment happens. And I think people, about 75% of the fan base understands that. Well, it's even worse than overpayment because he didn't want to go there. And the only way he wanted to go there was if they guaranteed his entire contract, which had never happened before. I think it's, it's so funny looking at all their, uh, they're gambling stuff because like they're plus one 12 to make the playoffs, right? They're almost even they're over under is nine and a half, which is such like the perfect cutoff for 10 and seven is probably good enough to make it nine and eight is a classic Brown season. They're 30 to one win the super bowl. They're 18 to one win the conference. They're plus 400 to win the division. And they were seven and 10 last year. And then you could go even bigger dude, like on Fandle, it's 12 plus wins is plus three 40. And you could just talk yourself into, Hey, if the Sean's back, this team might be loaded. They got the, they got the biggest variance. So, so I could talk myself into, like, if, if, if I have, you know, one too many cocktails, I could talk myself into 12, 13 wins for the Browns just because I, because I look at it and say, okay, if you got a coach of the year, Kevin, some fancy has shown that he can, he can call plays. He's won a coach of the year before miles Garrett is playing under Jim Schwartz. You look at it, the cornerstone pieces, they got a nice secondary. You got one of the best pass rushers in the league, best running back top five line. We've gone over that bonafide route runner. And we like Elijah more. Um, we love what he's going to bring. You look at that and say, okay, well, you put all that together with that 2020 Deshaun Watson. That's a, that's a bonafide, uh, uh, AFC championship contender. However, on the other end, I could talk myself into six and 11. I could see six. If you, you, you, we got three division games starting off, you got the bangles, you got the, uh, Steelers, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh. So think about this degree off. We get off to a bad start or so say for instance, Deshaun Watson plays poorly. Uh, and we lose to the bangles week one, you got to come back short week. You got the Steelers. Now you really know it's worse than a short week. It's a Monday night game week two at Pittsburgh. Think about it. If you start off one in three, you know, two and four, how many people are going to be satisfied with that? People, I told them, they had six games to prove it. Um, and Kevin Stefanski is under the, the, the hot seat. And I think that's why we've already turned over our kicker already. Cause I think the pressure's on a little bit. Yeah. They go Cincy at Pittsburgh Monday night, home, Tennessee, home, Baltimore, home, San Francisco with a bi-week in there. And then at Indianapolis at Seattle. And that's probably the toughest part of the schedule. And you, you, you kind of have to come out of there four and three, if you're thinking about when the division, which is a tall task. You got, you got to, and, and, and we peek around a little bit. I've been watching the Steelers. I always ask people, you know, how do you know if you got a squad or not? How do you know the Browns are for real? And I said, well, okay. I always ask myself if Mike Tomlin was coaching his team, what would you expect them to do? I say, if Mike Tomlin was coaching the team, I think that we play all solid day. Okay. Well look, uh, John Harbaugh, if he was coaching his team, I could give you, I can go down the line about seven, eight coaches that if they had this roster, I believe that they would be playoff contenders or Superbowl contenders. So my question is not only is it the staff and not the roster, but also if it comes down to a championship game and I, and I have to beat a Patrick Mahomes in Andy Reid, do I have the coach that can do that? I personally don't think so. That's my biggest fear other than Watson. I haven't seen it from Stefanski. I don't, I don't know if I trust it. I made a list of top 32 coaches. I didn't have them in the top half. And I'm like in the high twenties. It's and I think the knock on him is he looks great when he has a mediocre guy, like if he has case Keenum or he has, I wouldn't call Kirk cousins mediocre, but the bucks still out on him. That's what his thing is. People think he can't win, but he looked great with Baker. He looks good with bootlegs and tight ends and, and he'll run play action. And he has the best looking high school playbook I've ever seen. He had who runs a solid high school playbook, but when it comes to the bonafide superstars, when you got to play a Kyle Shanahan or McVeigh or, or Andy Reed, are you going to be able to go play for play? And you're going to be able to go pass for pass innovation. And are you going to get the most out of Deshaun Watson? Now they've told me, as I talked to people in the organization, they said they put a lot on Deshaun Watson and say, look, give us 40 plays. If you don't like those 40 plays, we'll rip them up and we'll, we'll we'll get you 40 more. So they're trying to be more lockstep at the hit with Deshaun Watson calling the plays he likes along with Stefanski. My thing is, I don't know if they have enough time together to kind of pull that off in a very short period of time. I can't say I've loved Stefanski's game management over the last few years. All right. Since we, we never have Cleveland diehard people on this pot, I'm going to throw some, some Cleveland questions at you. Just walk us through Cleveland's relationship with Pittsburgh. I don't think you, I don't think you've finished the head of Pittsburgh in the standings. What, since you came back in the league, like is it, is big brother, little brother, like not even strong enough to, to say what it is, what is it? Man, it's, it's the, it's the difference between having everything and having nothing. Um, to me, I, you know, a lot of people don't get it. There's, we've lost a generation of Browns fans, um, in our state that, you know, if you would, if you uphold people and you go to certain period of prices in town, there's Pittsburgh Steelers fans who have their gear on. Um, the terrible towels are here and you got to think about it. When Ben brought this burger, I played against him in Miami. I went to OU. He went to Miami Ohio. When Ben Roth, this burger, um, got drafted by the Steelers, it was for years. He had a better, more wins than any quarterback in Cleveland hat and, and at our stadium. And so they would, they would flood and, and wave their towels. And I just hate those doggone towels. I don't like the colors. I just don't like, I don't even play with the Steelers on man. So when you run into a Steelers fan and you tell them you're a Browns fan, they just look at you with complete disdain. Cause we used to have this with the Yankees as Red Sox fans, where they're just like that. Like it, what, it isn't even disdain. It's kind of like they don't pay you attention because you haven't done enough to make it a rivalry. It's a feud. It's a feud. It's not a rivalry. You're like, why would you wear that? Why would you wear Brown's colors? Those are Halloween colors and ugly anything. Like why would you, they never win. Why like more so than ever, we get a lot of you guys are tortured, man. Why do you feel bad? The pity? Yeah. They have pity. That's even worse. Yeah. I've been there. I've been there with the, with the Red Sox with all that shit. But then is Baltimore higher or lower than Pittsburgh with the pure hatred? No, this, this one is different. This one hurts a little bit more because it's like, let me give it to you like this. It's like, it's like breaking up with your ex, right? But then she upgrades on you like she upgrades. She's like, yo, I broke up with you. My life is better. I shop more. I want to got my degree. I work out every day and my new husband is great. He's such a good guy. And you think he's a good guy. There's nothing you can say about it. You're like, you know what? You've completely upgrade for us. It's like the Baltimore we left in 95, Baltimore, you know, they come and they, they, they, you know, leave, go to Baltimore 96. They start doing their things. They get Ozzie Smith or excuse me, Ozzie Newsome, one of the, one of our four file fathers. They get him. We put them in hall of fame. He's the GM and, and, and right out the gate, he goes and gets, he goes and gets Ray Lewis. He goes and gets Jonathan Ogden. He drives head read. And then they went to super bowl with one of the greatest defenses of all time. And you're just sitting there like, how did this happen? This was us. That was my story. It's just crazy. Well, and then on top of it, then you have the Bella check piece. The Bella check thing is even crazier because if you go back, I think ESPN had the thing about 1995, um, where the Browns were built in the roster and you go back and look at that. Right. I think they had current parents. I think they, they had bill Bella check. His staff was crazy. Um, it was one of the greatest coaching staffs and collective of young minds in the world. You know, the Browns run him out of town, Bernie, you know, first he ran Bernie out of town. Bernie goes and gets a super bowl with the Cowboys run Bella chick out of town. And he's the greatest thing ever to move as a coach. And it just seems we left holding a wet bag again. Come on, bill. It's like, how does this, you can't even, you can't write this man. You can't write it. It's crazy. So if you had to pit the Browns against the bills and the lions for the most tortured championship and we'll throw in the Vikings too. Okay. Those four, like who would you have? You're going to have obviously make the case for the brands. You lost a team. None of those other franchises lost a team. That's the worst thing that can happen. They didn't pack, they didn't pack a team up. Like, like, you know, I make the correlation. People talk about those great Indians teams in the mid nineties with bell and all those guys, man Ramirez and told me the reason why those guys are as great as they are. And they had to sell us because the Cleveland Browns left. There was a void in the city. There was kids growing up in 1996. I was, I was a freshman in high school and I never, I didn't watch football to again to 99. We had no team, no direction. That's why baseball was so huge and the tribe was so huge during that time period. But no one had, no one has gone through what the Browns have. They, you know, they took that team. Um, I could make a case that the Cleveland Browns have like really been at least the cat, at least the lions got Thanksgiving. At least I got Thanksgiving. We like, if you look at it, we didn't even have an opportunity because we had to black out in our locally where the game went sold out. You didn't even get to see the Browns. So even when they were here, you didn't have an opportunity to see them. Um, you know, I've always told myself, I think I would literally cry if I got an opportunity to see the Cleveland Browns jerseys, just on, just for the super bowl. Right. I just want to see it come out of that tunnel. That's it. All I want to see is come out to tunnel bill. I'll be golden. I've talked to different fans from the fan bases about this. And I mean, you had the Biner, the Biner game, which is one of the worst losses of all time. Certainly one of the worst ones I've ever seen, but the bills have, they have the Norwood game. They have the four in a row, music city, miracle. They have the 13 seconds game. So they, they add up. And then the Vikings have some of the great losses we've had over the last 50 years. The, the, a case that Alliance fan made to me was like, all right, the bills had all those super bowls. At least they got there, you know, and saying the Vikings, they've had all this heartbreak. At least they got there. And the Browns, like at least they were good in the eighties. Like we've had nothing. We had Barry Sanders. We made round one of the playoffs once and he was good in video games. And do you realize year after year, we just get our asses kicked on Thanksgiving. I thought that was compelling, but I still feel like losing a team is still the worst. But then on top of it, that team becoming the Ravens they went to and Belichick winning another six. And then the fact that you've been incompetent since 1999, like incompetent. We were known for how many quarterbacks we have. Um, like starting quarterbacks, you look at a guy and shout out to Joe Thomas, bless his heart. You know, I, one of the best dudes I've ever met in my life. And, and they just wasted his career. They just wasted it. And they're throwing on top of that. You got to think about it. Like before LeBron came back, it was worse because we're just known as the place that lost the greatest basketball player ever that lived there. Like it was just so coming back was, was a crazy thing, but obviously you left again, but on a better circumstances, but yeah, it's been a strange one. Um, that's why I think I call, um, the Browns America's team. And the reason I call them that is because when you take a look at Brown's backers, I do a small little ball going to barbershop or whatever. And I didn't even, when I started doing this, like I just woke up off my mom's couch being unemployed and was like, listen, I think I want to do that. And so I started a little blog or whatever, and I started doing stuff that I was passionate about. And it was, it was the Browns and no lie. There have been people who have reached out to me from every corner, this globe from Ireland and South America to Hawaii, shout out to why and the people in Hawaii going through some stuff right now, it's Brown's back is out there too. But those people reached out so passionately and was like, listen, I love listening to you because it makes me feel like I'm at home in Cleveland watching my Browns. And there's so many passionate fans around Brown's backers everywhere that it feels like we, we like one big Legion. And if we do win, we will have multi simulcasted parades all over the, all over the globe, uh, celebrating the Browns. And I think, and to be truthful, I think America will root for us because they do know we've been through a lot. I would 100% route unless, unless the line was tasty enough for the other team. And then I thought I would just take the other team. Um, the LeBron thing. So if, if they don't fix game five of the 2016 finals and suspend, dream on, um, and you never win the title that year, what's the psyche of the, of the Cleveland fans at that point, LeBron leaves. He never, he never took care of business. He leaves, and now he's on the Lakers and then he wins in 2020 and you guys still haven't won anything since 1964. Is it like just way darker? Like does the mood of the city just feel different? What happens? It's so crazy about LeBron. It's it's when I try to tell people and explain people how, what it is like on the ground, it's almost being like when he came back and he won, um, it was like one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Uh, you know, playing Steph Curry, you know, and how good they were, um, they, we won that championship. And I think that it was so devastating because after that happened, there had already started to be rumors and whispers that Kyrie wanted out and the machine was already working in us. So at that point in time, like we're, we're a little old Midwest Cleveland, right? You're in Boston. So you know how this thing works. You are the first people detailing the max players and how they move. And you guys were in the cutting forefront of the way the player movement was working. So you guys understood that we never saw it coming. It was, it was totally outside the rim of our possibility that we were saying we just beat one of the best teams ever. LeBron came back and we came back from three, one and it was already working behind the scenes that we were going to lose Kyrie. And so as that season goes along, it w we never even really got a chance to celebrate because soon after that, the 17 season comes around and the warriors go get Kevin Durant and they just dropped a nuclear bomb on everybody. And it was like, we were delusional in our little space. It was like two weeks after you won the title, right? All of a sudden Durant's on the warriors. And then it was just done. It was like, there was no, if you play basketball or if you know the game, there was no way anybody was beating them. And so Durant came, that kind of, you know, you know, pulled Kyrie away a little bit. And then that thing kind of developed. And then it was one of the things where we were looked at LeBron for staying so long. We were like, yo, it's LeBron come back or leaving. We couldn't even prepare for the Kyrie leaving because enemy to me, one of one of the Lebron's best acts was I think it was a 2018 when he beat the Celtics in game seven. Yeah. He was amazing. I mean, the way he might strode that thing. Um, the way he just, I mean, one of those things you don't really understand it until you watch it. But this guy didn't have no, but he had Larry Nance Jr. Yeah. Tristan Thompson. Yeah. But the way he came in game seven and was like, hold on, let me control the pace. I'm down six. And he LeBron does this cool little thing where he's like, oh man, he's keeping it close. He's keeping it close. And then all of a sudden you look up, he's up four with like three minutes left and you're like, what the heck happened? He just morphed in front of us. He had game winning shots against the Raptors. That series. Yeah. I think he, he played well. He, it just Raptors. He'd be someone's game seven. And by the way, by the way, he played all 48 in game seven against the Celtics. And guess what? That game one against the knit or not the next game. One of the warriors, the 51. That was his best game. That was the best game. Yeah. I think that's his best game. Without the charge, without the return to the charge, which I think LeBron got there. I just watched the game over about two weeks ago. If you say he can go in there and steal game one against the greatest team ever assembled in my opinion that I've seen play, um, that's just something to be, behold. But I think it was like a double loss cause they, they probably should have won. So now it's like, all right, we got to beat these guys five times in a seven game series. That's never happening. Like he knew it was done when they lost game one, he punched the wall and broke his hand. And he knew he had, he, you know, there was a small little sliver of where he could go, um, and how he can do that. And he did it. Um, and they just lost the game. And I think he knew he was leaving from that point. But as far as it goes with the fans, we kinda, it was a whirlwind, like I think, and he did, we did in LeBron said it before. Um, he kinda, he kinda, uh, you know, spoils you a little bit because at that point we were on a stage where we were going to go in the finals. It was just a foregone conclusion. We'd be there with the warriors at the end of the season, he turns around and leaves. And then I think after that happens, we start to look and focus at our other teams and say, okay, well, what do we have here? And we realized the calves are going to have to rebuild again. We realized the guardians aren't going to spend any money, but that's a whole nother program. And then we got, we got our Browns. And at that point, the Browns I think was starting to come around a little bit. We had Baker, Baker brought a Jota energy to the city. Um, you know, he just, he was that guy. That's the biggest thing I've learned in this, in this talk so far is that I didn't realize Baker was that past popular to the bitter end. Still is still, listen, people, there were guys, there were guys last year, we started ultimate Cleveland sports show and I was talking, I think he worked with Jay Crawford is on our show as well. And Jay's like, look, if Baker B Baker's going to win his starting job in Carolina, there were actual Browns fans that drove down to Carolina to watch Baker and was like, it had the jerseys on and everything. That's unbelievable. What did they, what did they like? What was, what resonated with Baker? What was it? Well, so what resonated with Baker was he's kind of, it's like, kind of like our country, right? Right. He was a guy who, he wasn't a quarterback. He wasn't one of those button up guys. He told you how it was. He was a guy's guy. He drank beers. He, he said how he felt and said, and felt how he said, and to a certain extent, he came along the time period where we had just left one in 31 with Hugh Jackson, you know, one of the darkest periods in our, in history of the Browns. And he was the guy to give you a little bit of confidence. He gave you a little bit of swagger. He said, nah, listen, I'm not going to take it as us versus everybody. And so that resonated. And on top of that, he won. So he did things, other people, he won, you know, he broke the rookie passing record. He eventually got to a point where the one year to coach the fans, he did win during the COVID year coach of the year. He goes into Pittsburgh and they put it on Pittsburgh. Like we've never seen, you know, the game ended up, ended up being close, but at one point in time, it's 28 nothing in the first quarter and we're sitting around locked in our, in our houses, not going anywhere. Like I can't believe my Browns are doing this to big Ben. We made Pouncey retire. Wow. It sounds like we need a Baker Mayfield Cleveland 30 for 30. Let's get the documentary crew for the comeback. It'll start with those bear coolers. We had won a game. We were one in 31, Tyra Taylor. Uh, it was a Monday or Thursday night. I think it was Thursday night. Tyra Taylor's playing against, uh, Jeff, Sam Darnell and Tyra gets hurt. Uh, he gets injured. Baker comes in, throws a rope down the middle to Jarvis Landry. He catches the ball. Uh, they do the Philly, uh, the Philly special Baker catches the Philly special touchdown. And basically this, this at the stadium, they're running a promotion that where they had these beer coolers filled with beers. And when the Browns would win, they were going to open the beer coolers and it had been almost two years since we won. They win that game coming back and come back fashion. The beer coolers open Baker Mayfield is now like he's Johnson. No, he's the king of the North. He's riding in on his dire Wolf. It's crazy. Like he's the man. And that, and the crazy part about it was, that was like the high point. Like it was here. Like you told us we didn't find it. And he got injured. He got hurt. Uh, you know, the team kind of turned on them, you know, it just, it was evident that he needed to go somewhere else to start over. And I think one of the things that you, you will see in the backdrop of everything going on is this it's it's, you know, you don't never really know what you've got to is gone. Cause I remember coming up and a lot of people talking about Bernie, right. And now Bernie's one of my good friends and he's a, he's a hero because we've had nothing since him. So in the same way of Baker Mayfield, people loved him because he gave him something to, to think about and get through, um, during the tough times. But Deshaun Watson is coming in at a, a very, uh, so difficult task, but I think he's the best quarterback they've had. He has the most talent. Um, and I do think that the Cleveland Browns, this unit is rallying around him. I think this year, he's more of a captain figure than he was last year. I don't think he could have led that way last year, but this year, I think he gets it. What you just laid out made me almost certain that Baker Mayfield, when he retires from football comes back to Cleveland and has like a 25 year media career. Lock it down. Baker on Fox college football. I think Baker Mayfield is a star. Like I, I could see him doing like, you know, the, the, the Fox game day shows or whatever the case may be. He's a star on screen. You can't get around that. Like, so if you watch him, that that's part of, I guess, you know, having that it factor, um, people want to watch Baker. I think he will, he's a, he's a slam dunk star on TV. All right, before we go, can you give me your Cavs prediction for this season in 40, 45 seconds? Wait, what are you expecting? All right. 45 seconds. Um, Donovan Mitchell, this is a big year from him, from him. I like Imani Bates. Um, wait, is it a big Donovan Mitchell year because he completely shit the bed in the playoffs? Oh no, because I think he's completely not going to be here after next year. So you're signing up on that because that's been the whisper campaign for a while. Yes. He's not, he's not going to be here. Um, I think they, they signed up with that knowing that I do like the Niang George being, I like streets. I like, they need some shooters. They need some guys that can spread the floor. Little concerned about Jared Allen playing four B or, you know, stretch four. He's not a guy that could spray the floor. I'm also concerned about Mobley. We met all bodies of unicorn. I need to get him better than 27% behind the three point arc. I want to see more of that. I want to see more dribble into the basket. Um, I think he may play better without Allen. I'm not sure. Um, I think, I love Darius Garland. I think he can take another step forward. You know, 22 small guards is kind of, but what I will say is, I think this team can be anywhere from a one to a five. Um, I would expect them to get past the first round this year. Um, and then from there, it's just all about how well they play in the playoffs at that point in time. Maybe they have enough shooting, but, um, I would pick them somewhere in between one or five. I think the ceiling is a number three C in the East. So why wouldn't they just trade Mitchell now if you think he's going in a year? I think, I think they don't like the packages that they could get back. If you trade him now. Also, I don't think they would trade them because I think that would signal that they made a mistake. I think if you trade him now, it basically says, yeah, we screwed up and we thought we were better than we were, but we just kind of, uh, you know, he was available. We got him, see if it worked. It didn't work. Now we're going to have to trade them pennies on a dollar. So I think they're willing to ride it out because they believe that Mobley can be a unicorn. And if they lose him for, I wouldn't say free, but if they lose them and don't really get much for him, I think that they can really save face because Mobley will be good. Garland who is already locked up. Yeah. All that matters is Mobley and Garland. But I wonder, I just wonder if the Knicks would get frisky and jump in and just try to get them. And you're basically taking all the pics you gave up and getting a bunch of them back. RJ Barrett and quick. Yeah. And you're getting a bunch of stuff back in. Yeah. Um, all right. By the way, before we go, bill, I had to shout out to your daughter, who goes to Emerson college. Correct? Yes. Uh, my producer on ultimate Cleveland sport show, Mikey McNuggets, he's a former basketball player there. So he says, shout out to the Emerson people. Like he's, he knew good one. I said, how long did you do research for that? Mikey, you know, I was going on here. I shout out to Emerson college, right? I love the shout out to Emerson. Uh, all right. So you Brown's final prediction. You're going playoffs. Sounds like your playoffs. Okay. All right. I'm a playoffs guy. All right. I don't want you to jinx anything. Let's just say, all right, there could be one of the seven playoffs. There we go. We'll take one of the playoffs. All right. If you enjoyed hearing Garrett, tell us where we can find you. I got the best job in the world, man. I'm still undefeated since I retired. I like it. I'm good. I was wondering, you had a foot injury when you were at Ohio State. I think maybe a stress fracture. And watching LeBron's injury, I think he first said that he stepped on somebody's shoe or foot, and then I thought maybe it's a high ankle sprain. The way he landed to me looked different and more serious than you land on somebody's foot. What did you see in that situation? Well, I mean, it goes back because a lot of times with those injuries then, as you know, it's a lingering effect of something else. So that foot had been bothering him for a little while for my understanding. So when you have a non contact injury like that, again, as a result of wear and tear, something over time. So that was just like the needle in the haystack right there on the kind of took it over the top. So when he planted and I saw it, I was like, oh man. And I started to hear more about the injury itself. Because you think about it at this point in the bronze career, he's on the back end. Less days than more. Getting to the plow is very important for him to be out in talking about two weeks, maybe three. It has to serious. Because they had a chance to kind of inch up and have nothing else getting to play in game and go from there. But I think the injury is more serious than probably what they let on. Because if it's two to three weeks to just to be reevaluated, it's probably some swelling in there. It looked like it may be and I'm not a doctor, but it looks like it may have been under the arch of his foot kind of like we're plantar fasciitis is that all of those soft tissue injuries right there, I think all got affected on that play. And then I got to wonder if in three weeks he can come back. Do you even want him to come back? Let's try to get the play in game or do we shut him down for the rest of the season no matter what. Well, it depends on where the Lakers are at too. At that particular point, because AD, you know, not playing back to back games, still hurts the Lakers. Now they were able to split that series Memphis and OKC and when that game in OKC and give themselves a good chance to continue to kind of push up the ladder a little bit. But a lot has to do with that. I mean, I'd like to move that they made in regards to the acquisition. Does that get them a championship this year? I don't think so. From a roster perspective, can they be competitive in a one game scenario?

"Christmas. Happy holidays from all of us here at Doubleday else reading from one Williams piece at the hill. Two weeks ago, I tested positive for the coronavirus. I am a 66 year old cancer survivor. I'm a black man. I inhale my share of secondhand smoke. So I set off several red lights. Also, I think is a good entree into this piece. Summer. Some folks not only writers, but especially guys were employed by cable television networks tend to talk incessantly about themselves. It's always about them. Not so with one William Over the years, I've rarely shared personal stories. Readers come here to read into the theater of politics. My general is to only open up personal wounds. When there is a clear lesson to offer. We'll get the lessons a little bit later on the first one. Welcome back. Juan Williams to double the Swan. I'm sorry to hear that you are infected with the coronavirus. Where do you suppose you were infected? Wasn't on that flight. Iran was somebody else returning from a presidential debate. On that private jet. And with Fox you say you don't think so? It happened in a restaurant? Yes. Yeah, You got it. Exactly. Right. Merry Christmas. Nice to be with you. Thanks for having me. Um, I think that you know there was a risk there because there was someone positive on the flight is, you know, John so I was worried, but that test was negative and in my life went along fine and dandy. But then a few days after being pulled into this restaurant, and I try not to go into restaurants, I was told we were going to be able to dine outside. But it was, I think, the coldest night of the year until just recently in New York. And they had closed the outdoor part. And when I went toe, see you know where my people who are hosting me where the maitre d dragged me to the back and suddenly Got weak knees, man. I said Hey, you know, how are you all of a sudden wives and friends all nice to meet you all that and I was like, but I thought we were going to talk about what we were I I ended up there for an hour and a half in a crowded restaurant. Oil boy, You know, it's guys our age and I'm right there with you. I mean, you have to be so careful. All right. I love to talk. I don't love to talk to people that are sick, but Tell us. I did talk to some of the day You told me what it was like to try to get out of bed. The first morning, you wake up, You have a pounding headache. You're exhausted. Is that similar to what you experienced? Take our listeners through what it's like to first discover all Yeah, well, you know, it starts slow because it started with me with sniffles and a runny nose. And I'm thinking, you know. Hey, don't be a chump. You just got a little bit of a cold or, you know. Temperatures are dropping around here. So maybe you know that is impacting your Sinuses. And then it started to get a little worse than I thought to say. Wait. Maybe this is the flu. But, you know, I don't think that you got cold. And you know why? You know why do you want always want to be dramatic slowdown, You know, be a man. And then that's what that Z one Williams. That's all liberal propaganda is no worse than the flu. I've heard of 1000 times. Right. Well, you got a chance, so I was thinking, all right, All right. Take it easy. What's wrong with you? And then because they make the anchors that box all take a test. Once a week, we spent into a two. They send it off to a lab. I did that. And that test came back positive, and that's when all the alarms went off, and they sent me off to a Special clinic to do another test. That was positive than they did a long term test that came back the next within 24 hours from another lab. That was positive, But by that time, you know, just to answer your question to take your listeners through it. I was having trouble sleeping now It was the headache that you're talking about. And the fatigue and like, even like the struggle from the bed to the fast one was like, Hey, what is going on with my body? And you know why am I feeling this way? And the headache, I think was the thing that really sticks with me even now, But the bigger problem was at some point. I felt woozy like I could pass out and I thought, you know I'm by myself. If I hit my head or something past and I don't know what's gonna find me for days here. This is this about. Just bring our listeners update you quarantine in the hotel to keep your wife safe. Unfortunately, she also was testing positive. What? Three or four days after you were in that hotel, So at least you got to go home to quarantine together. How is she doing? She's fine. And you Here's the great irony of this. I am not a smoker. She is a heavy smoker. She's done better than I have done. So you know how you asked me to take the list your threw away. It's like he said. He had like a spike of a fever for half a day or something. And that's the worst got first. People have different experiences. And here here I am, a guy that tries to stay in shape. She doesn't And if I said, smokes like a chimney and pretty pretty mild consequence for her by like this in your story to your son left novels near Daughter apparently left you a folding exercise bike in the hotel so you could move a little bit in the Hotel staff left your food outside the door. So you write here that my mind started to wander into some dark places. Would you want to disclose that You didn't in your column? He left them anonymous. But can we learn who that was? No, no, no, That wasn't a fox college. "Fox Sports radio dot com or Dan patrick dot com By January 24th Mercedes Benz vans. TJ. We boarded up briefly about maybe some college coach is going to the NFL. Jim Harbaugh, I think is going back to Michigan. Because they fired Don brown, his defensive coordinator, and TJ, If you were going to make a move and not have hard bar back when you just fire the whole staff together, right, So why would you fire? Just don brown? So so all indications. Or that they will work out some sort of agreement at Michigan. But urban Meyer's name has come up. You know he does television for Fox College football. Why haven't you know? A lot of college coaches haven't succeeded in the NFL. Nick Saban was wasn't great in the NFL. Uh, Pete Carroll struggled, went to college and then won a Super Bowl. So he's one of those guys who was able to, uh, to make it work. What do you think of Urban Meyer? Could that work in the NFL? T. J. If you are asking me do I believe he will be successful? That answer will be. Yes. The problem is when he's college coaches come from The top schools. You just recruit the best players, And when you get the best players the majority of time you're gonna win. You're going to do well when you get to the NFL. You have to select the best players you don't have. Oh, I'm gonna just go get try to get the three best defensive lineman and hopefully one or two of these guys were pretty good in the league. You have the draft guys. Put him in positions to be successful. Develop. Um And if you do those three things, you have a chance to do very well. And that's why some of these coaches they don't but urban Meyer look where he started. He started at the smaller schools, and he's had success everywhere. He's banned. Bowling Green, Utah, Florida. Ohio State. He's had success at every single school, Johnson one, right, the Super Bowls with the Cowboys, right, a college coach. It's It's very few of them. More failed and succeed, But I believe urban Meyer would be one that would have a ton of success like I've been able to spend time with urban In the green Room with Fox Studios and just talk football and he draws up plays and tell you what he's looking for defensively. And he obviously knows what he's doing. But He's gonna get the respect and what happens is when you get a new head coach. That first meeting that you have is a team. Automatically. Players will say OK, he has my respect, just by the way he handles himself in that meeting. Like, you know, right away like he ain't taking no BS. He's cool. He's a player's coach. What? He ain't taking no Bs. I either and so you know, right away like man this dude. So when we gonna run right over him, it's gonna be a country club and so you know, right away. You're not doing that. Whatever. Meyer He's not going to give you that impression that you can either now let me hear the Jim Harbaugh thing. I think he's been a total failure at Michigan. I don't care about TJ the winds and where they were with Brady Hoke before he got there. The bottom line is they haven't gotten to the college playoff. They haven't won the big 10. They've been stopped by Ohio State They've lost to, um, Michigan State a number of times. I mean, Any other coach would have been run out of Ann Arbor with what's happened in Michigan. Okay? He's a Michigan man. He played for both him back. I get all that he puts quarterback there they love Jim Harbaugh. But I really believe Jim Harbaugh should go back to the NFL, where he had success. You know, at San Francisco, they went to three NFC Championship game. They went to the Super Bowl. I really thought If it wasn't the stink on him. Maybe he should be the Lions coach T. J Am I crazy? He had success in the NFL. He played quarterback in the NFL for 14 years. He knows that the pro game Let listen, I'll go back to some of the earlier comments. He's not gonna win. The big Ohio State has the better team. Why not? Michigan can't compete. You. Ohio State has the better team, the better players and it's evident. When you look at the NFL draft, yes, but look at Michigan's history. Your guys will be played at Michigan. It's history. These kids that are In high school. They don't remember when Michigan was good. They see the Alabama claims is the L s shoes. Georges. That's who they see. They don't see the Ohio State's. That's what these young kids see now and so they don't see Michigan as being that school. And so You can say Well, you can't be Michigan. He's always going into that game, knowing he's playing a group, a team with a group of better athletes and players. That's just the reality of it. And if he wins, that's a bonus. But Michigan does not have better players in Ohio State, and they know that and until they can close that gap. It's going to be that way for a while. Ohio State has the far superior athlete has no disrespect. That's just what it is. Yes, but should Harbach should should he resign with Michigan or should he go back to the NFL? VII care You're telling me can't win there. So what? Why? Why stay there and continue this at Michigan? He has a quarterback coming in, and JJ McCarthy that is the best quarterback recruit. That he's recruited in Michigan. And so I believe he's looking at this kid, hoping he can kind of change the forces. If you get a good quarterback he brings in other players or high profile players for.

Cowboys to move on without Jason Garrett
"Jason Garrett's time up as coach of the Dallas Cowboys Edward a reporting Jerry Stephen Jones have decided coach will not be part of the organization moving forward on Friday and paid Simmons on why this process lasted so long after the season to other Jerry and Stephen Jones have moved slowly out of respect for Jason Garrett you know they have a long history with him as a backup quarterback you to this is that coach a head coach's father was in the organization when Jerry bapa team as a scout and they finally concluded that phase of this process and that's going to end with Jason Garrett not being a part of the organization beyond his expiring contract and when exactly they make that announcement I thought sure what I've been told soon and that the next phase will have them moving into the process of interviewing candidates in the battle begin quickly after phase one is totally finished off yes was contract set to expire January fourteenth status with the team at issue since last February the cowboys didn't give a contract extension they missed the playoffs in twenty nineteen finish eight neighbor the four time in his tenure as coach Keyshawn Johnson on the job candidates and Jerry Jones himself he was on sports and we stand ready to make a decision on it there was the eight their long term in the obvious would clearly felt that their work you say while they waited till Thursday well the food that just won't really it just is so you kind of say okay take a deep breath we get back to the facilities we talk about a little bit we think about we pondered overnight we need or Thursday we meet on Tuesday we meet on Wednesday we have a conversation and we finally so you know women the best thing for us to do if not give the public what they looking for what they looking for me to do is be extremely mad and walk out of there on Sunday night if fire you on the tarmac so instead of doing that this call wait a couple days are you playing for the cowboys you're familiar with Jerry Jones and and and his thinking all what happens next now in this search for the next cowboys head coach I think a guy like Mike Zimmer Minnesota Vikings head coach could potentially be a candidate you say how could that be well I I II coach there in the deepest corner along try defensive coordinator for Jerry Jones is the bill Parcells fact either stay here they know what they're getting in that particular coach but also there's a young officer coordinator in cabin step band he this sitting there in Minnesota the Minnesota Vikings don't want to part ways with him they don't want him all of a sudden start to get interviews and become a category another team so I would be surprised if somehow might dimmer wind up being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in the cabinet she takes over as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings so a lot of story lines this call come about here over the next with date but I think this time around you will get the head coaching job right where the coach may be season one more before we go do you think that at this point Jerry Jones is ready to surrender more control to a head coach now then he has been willing to in the past as bill Parcells left and and I want to turn this on your stamina I am right now status is not a defense Jerry Jones was some what he is and even as well as we clay as well as Jerry junior what is your you Jones gone wrong with that organization other than the head coaching hire that's a very good question that's very good everybody everybody everybody said here you're you're here the one on that team thank you for calling the latter team for the National Football League I would I would argue and say that their top five channels it is four tally dole is a National Football League the problem is that head coach because you're you're not holding the plate yeah well that gives the player is a free pass for having innate need season the talent on the field didn't win enough games he and Garrett will finish as the second longest tenured and second most winningest coach in team history Tom Landry a record of eighty five and sixty seven the wonders to playoff games unable to get past the divisional round Mike wells Myron Medcalf on Freddie Fitzsimmons the Dallas Cowboys there you know they draw attention but the the the days of being America's team and wanted to be part of what is age and it's not the same anymore it is not the same strictly because of what you have to deal with away from just coaching of football team is not simply you know put together a strong staff the coaster brakes of Amari Cooper Ezekiel Elliott and dak Prescott it's also having the answer constant questions from your boss the owner Jerry Jones deck could become a headache when you're you can't simply just focus on the task of putting your team in the proper position the try to have success there's a side show that comes with it and some people are built or not built to be able to deal with that so you got to find the right coach who is not only a great Exynos guy but somebody who's mentally strong enough to handle the constant you know looking over the shoulders and the pestering of your boss meddling in the inside of things wonder why things are not going well or to give us suggestions on what you should be doing that's not something easy that everybody can handle that type of situation well it and not everybody wants it and that's why I think a lot of these cultures your Matt rules related rallies urban Meyer's why except that to me if you're not going to modernize the structure of your organization so that your owner can do what every other owner does and take a backseat and not be this forward facing figure who's hosting its own press conferences after the game sometimes undermining the head coach then then how can you expect to attract a great candidate bomb out rule no one eight I'm leaving Baylor I got a chance to build something there if I'm leak in Raleigh I'm in Oklahoma and every year I get a chance to go to the college football playoff leave in Oklahoma where I can coach for another decade at least about continue to succeed ever murmur Meyer I'm not leaving LA or on the TV analyst making good money watching a lot of football injuries bouncing around the country see a lot of teams to go to Dallas where I've got a deal with Jerry that's why I think it's going to be difficult if Jerry Jones wants to continue to be Jerry Jones I don't think Mike he's going to end up with any of the top candidates identifying potential replacements Bobby carpenter and fox college football reporter Bruce Feldman gas on Freddie impede Simmons Stephen Jones Jerry Jones offered that coaching job urban Meyer she would say I think that's a hard job to say no urban probably wouldn't be needing to be for another year is that all you but who knows enough the big job at the glamorous job and remember the nose you know damn owns his courage and damn ongoing expound acted it all back thank god yeah I was supposed to do the oil itself journal part of mine and to buy that it was offered so you're going to want to meet your need to guide it was a proven track record we've done it before who's been in the playoffs the only guy that I look at the newest hires cycle that's really available is Mike McCarthy and it's free thank god I'm not that I'm not the biggest Mike McCarthy stand the world but he's the only guy that it holds no one Barty and that is the only thing that Jerry Jones once he is getting older is that you know you if you spend more time on this earth that he's going to spend has the last was starving if you get that oracle Marty troche with them of the order would love to put it in there Mike you've done that you chose to leave and you've been in the playoffs he's done a good job that would be my selection I don't know if they don't know what it does do checks all

Heisman Watch: There's no stopping Jalen and Tua
"So former teammates to a tunnel by Lola and Jalen hurts continued to go toe-to-toe each week as the race for the heisman heats up last weekend to through for nearly four hundred fifty yards and five touchdowns against South Carolina meanwhile Jalen Pass for just just under three hundred yards and three touchdowns along with one hundred and fifty yards and another touchdown on the ground according to Fox too is now just a slight favourite win the heisman over the QB he replaced in Tuscaloosa joined by Fox College football analysts Reggie Bush good to have you so regret giving up on Jalen no not at all regret giving up on Jalen life is good in in Alabama real mess team and caused football really you got the best quarterback in college football guaranteed to make the playoffs even with one loss and I think even L. Obama lost two games they still figure out a way to get him in the playoffs and when to a- leaves they just going to replace him with another five star quarterback so life was good in Alabama. I don't think Nick Sabin has any reason to even worry about. Losing Jalen hurts because his quarterback has right now beat out jalen hurts for that starting starting spot and so to me when I look at the big picture because I do think Jalen hurts has the best shot out of the two to win the heisman trophy because he played the situation perfectly. He went from having to face. SEC every week to facing big twelve defenses every week which everybody knows they don't really play a lot of defense in the big twelve and so so when I look at the big picture he's going to continue to put up these kinds of numbers every week because there's not a single defense on that roster on schedule that can stop them It looks like a heisman winner to me. I thought it'd be well. No twelve zero peaks really has yet to really dupleix insignificant time in the fourth quarter. No he will regret his skip.
