The topic of today's filmstrip is the World Series in four K I watched it last night and it was beautiful. Yeah, where did you get it from? So not the TV. 'cause it's not on four K on the TV or on the cable. But I subscribe to YouTube TV and pay a ridiculous 20 bucks extra. And I only did that back with the Winter Olympics a year ago because that was in four K but I thought someday I'll be able to use this. And so now when I went to my YouTube TV say, I want to watch the World Series that says, okay, you can watch it on your local Fox channel, which channel two here. Or you could stream it in four K from Fox and I chose that. It's the same broadcast, same ads. But does that look good or what? Oh, man. I didn't see it last night because I haven't signed up for YouTube TV. I'm going to because I want to you could do it with a Fox Sports app, I think, as well. You can. You can also do it with a Fox Sports app, that means you have to have a subscription from cable or satellite or some streaming service that gives you TV everywhere. That's the thing. You need to sign into. You can also get it on FuboTV. Which costs 70 bucks a month. For their four K option, I guess. But you're paying a total of 85 a month. I was a lot. It's cheaper than cable I get. No, not really. There's no excuse. I have a four K TV and it looks great. And it looks great. It looks great. Now I will tell you this, they're capturing it in HDR, high dynamic range, which is wonderful. But they're capturing it in 1080p and then upscaling it. Yeah. Oh, it's not native four K. Well, it's true, but they have much better upscaling at their end than we have as consumers at our end. The only thing I will tell you is Fox likes to do extreme close ups of the players. And in four K, they look kind of grimy. You see every especially Jason worth. You don't want to see a close up. I'm sorry. But it made you feel like you were at the game. But now I'm disappointed in this upscale ten 80. It looked like four K. I mean, it really felt like. And as I say, they're upscaler. They're professional upscale. Far better than the upscaler, if you've got a ten 80 signal into your four K TV, it would upscale it to four K two. It does. Automatically. But it's not as good, not nearly as good. And I tell you what a great game to watch at four K. So we did actually just write. So I watched the beginning where they were Phillies were losing 5 nothing. I saw them come back. And then Lisa came in the room. So I said, well, let's watch confess fletch. With Jon Hamm, which was quite good, recommended. That was a kind of shortish movie. And I said, I wonder if the game's still on. It was still 5 5 in the 9th. Wow. Yeah. So I got to see the best parts of the game. And this is the only problem with baseball.

"Back. You told me this morning when we spoke on my program in Iowa, that this was not an easy sell to publishers, and I find that fascinating. I had about 5 publishers turned me down because they said, there's no way parents are going to buy a book about a spider. People don't like spiders. And I found out from my wilder series, just kind of my middle grade series that I write for Random House. Children love spiders. They love anything that creeps and crawls and scares us. So I said, look, it doesn't matter if you like it or not. That's what the legend is. It's about this spider. I can't change the story. So I stuck to my guns or to my webs and we marched forward, found the right publisher. And it's been a hit since emerged and the audience really discovered it because it's true. At the heart of it, the story is true. And that's a power. That just sounds like such a stereotypical New York publishing house response. Well, if we could turn the spider into a dog, then it would be okay, well, in our final Christmas, you know, there we go, the horse that saved Christmas. That's lovely. All right, in our final minute, two minutes or so with Raymond Arroyo on the Todd starring show. This is a troubled time in so many different ways. What is the message of Christmas that is especially helpful for listeners to this program in this unique year of 2021. Well, it's the one I discovered writing this book and that is no matter how dark things may appear. And they appear very bleak and dark right now. You might see in your cave hunger down you're worried about what's outside fear not. There is light among us. He has come and rice is here. The Christ child is coming. What i say bad. I mean quite literally bands her. she's he also uses his influence to like. Make sure that she's not a lot of other. Nbc properties she does the fox show. It lasts for about a little less than a season. they replace hurts politics left and writing shortly thereafter. Her husband commits suicide. She wanted to fire him and then she stood up for him to okay. We're going to fire both of you. Which makes me sound makes it sound like. They wanted to fire her because of whatever was going on politics in the first place and the us her husband to like basically do that. I mean it just sounds like that to me yeah. I haven't read a whole a whole lot about what really happened. The scenes because no one was taking super copious notes. But i can't imagine that for someone of her stature who shows fail all the time but to look for a reason to get rid of someone you know if you're a woman on late night You're on a brand new network lake. I i don't necessarily fair to blame her for things like ratings because again a lot of very talented people host late night shows that fail. The way hers went down. Didn't seem like it went down in a good fashion and she after that moment after she got fired from her late night show and after her husband committed suicide which was tangentially seemingly somewhat related at least by her own accounts. She struggled to get a job a largely because of what johnny carson did to her because he had had that fragile white male ego. I don't know if that's the reason but it definitely fits the bill it. Yeah and it has like a mentor. Kind of like a sore mentor. Kind of Attitude about it like will you..

"I i'm trying to evolve and so i'm taking basically what i've developed with the website and turning it into a tv show and as you know we have a studio to do those kinds of things I've been able to from the start of what we've been able to do with the the website and with Podcasts and things of that nature and reinvest in the product of to be able to build a studio and to have the editing equipment and shoot it properly and to do it on a level that i felt comfortable with that was professional enough and it is very very eilly done highly professional To do a tv show and the times have changed to to where it's not like it steven spielberg a tv show. It's you know done on skype. It's done on zoom. It's done on different avenues to where you can get the connections that we all have and get good guests and And do the be roll and dress it up properly and get good editors and people that know what they're doing and i know how to edit and do something that i thought which is what i've always wanted to do to do these kind of shows and to have some fun with it and i think when we get done with kovic will get out and get more of the intimate stories features that i'd like to do but with these kind of things you can also do some really cool interviews. So that's one of the things that we're doing with this is doing those interviews and making a lot of fun. So our first show will be with bernie for dirk.
