"News round up and information overload. Why do you have editorial control over the New York Post? That to me? Seems like you're the ultimate editor. You do realize that by taking down that story, you Perper. You probably gave it more prominence and more visibility than ever would have gotten had you left it alone. We realize that and we recognize it as a mistake that we made Both in terms of the intention of the policy and also the enforcement action of not allowing people to share it publicly or privately, which is why we corrected it. Within 24 hours. I cleanse you with us. That was at Jack Jack Twitter. You know, to what extent now the people of making the switch over to the parlor. Eyes. And I know it takes effort to switch over Linda, you You said to me that you've effectively, you know, changed everything over the parlor as well, Right? And you just advertising on Twitter to go over the parlor. I think in my humble opinion, what needs to happen? It's very It's a very simple thing. And that is, you know. People who make a decision that we are going to be a free Republican. We mean it. We do not capitulate and we do not provide capital to people who want to silence us. Listen that I mean, forget it. It's you get the radical Democrats and they're they're trying to shut down every conservative voice anyway. Glad you're with us news round up information overload Our We welcome back to the program to weigh in on this and other things. She's got an awesome book out makes a great gift. It's called the cost Trump China and the American Revival. Our friend anchor of mornings with Maria on our sister network, the Fox business Network. And of course you are. She's got a great show on Fox News Channel on the weekend, which is must see Sunday TV and I don't really watch any other Sunday show because it's not worth watching. Maria Berta Ramos back with us. How are you? Hey, John. How are you? I'm good. You know, some you're making the switch to you see the pressure on these companies. They get this this liability protection because they're supposed to just provide content, But yet they do all the editorial And they get you know, section 2 30 protection, which is a huge advantage for them over, say, the New York Post or any newspaper, and I don't see that protection staying. Maybe Biden would leave it there, but I don't know. Well, that's the thing. I mean, you know, you don't know if you know a potential incoming administration is going to say, Well, you know, maybe we don't want to do this because their major donors to our campaign. I mean, I don't know what Jerry Nadler is gonna want to Dios. Uh, you know, is head of the committee Judiciary Committee. So you know, it is an issue. Don't forget these guys. The twitters Facebooks of the world. This incoming, You know, major people, some big money in terms of donations, So there's that, But look when this was put into the telecom act in 1996 This was thought of as these companies would be bulletin board companies and others. Everybody would put their ideas and opinions on the bulletin board. Well, that's not played out. It's just not that at all. In fact, when you look at these companies they have clearly taken aside. Okay. They are constantly denigrating and criticizing Donald Trump President Trump flagging his treats me well, they've got the Ayatollah Khamenei from Iraq, Iran over there saying Death to America. No problem. But the other day somebody called me a Nazi on Twitter. It wasn't taken down. This is outrageous, You know, I mean, it's just outrageous that They are able to just become the arbiters of truth. And they're not. They've taken aside. They are censoring information. And as a freedom loving American woman that I am I will not accept such censorship. Which is why I moved to parlor. Yeah, I promote things on Twitter. Fine, but I'm and I'm not going to blow off my 900,000 followers. I'm there. I'm a woman of my word for that. However, when I want scoops dropped when I'm doing my Sunday show that you just mentioned Thank you for that compliment. I'm going to drop those scoops on parlor and elsewhere away from Twitter where I know that I'm not getting censored as if I'm in communist China. I mean, it's unbelievable and it you know, but I saw him reading his article and eyes about you and your book, by the way, and we put it up on amazon dot com, Hannity dot com Bookstores everywhere the cost. Trump China, the American Revival. And whatever you do, just don't call you a conspiracy theorist that you have been there. It hasn't been many of us and I put you in this category of people that dug deep. Into this dirty Russian misinformation dossier, and I'm going back to that The media mob ignored it. Then the FISA application premeditated fraud all turned out to be true. None of it verifiable. They knew about it early on. They never did a thing about it. I have no idea what happens with Dermot. This point and, you know, we got it right. And you know all these other people in the mob in the media. They got it wrong. And right, Let's try and you know what? It's not only that they ignored it, Shawn, but I would say they absolutely ran with lye. And by the way, they got Pulitzer Prizes for it. Okay, look at the New York Times and The Washington Post and their poll surprises for their headlines of Donald Trump colluded with Russia. There's been no Maia culpas. There's been no Hey, by the way, we got this wrong here. The fact none of that at all. They continue talking about potential Russia collusion when we now know as a fact that it was Hillary Clinton's idea to tie Donald Trump to Russia and create some kind of a scandal. It's unbelievable how successful they've been. They've been incredibly successful in terms of getting the media on board and allowing the media to drive this thing forward and lie to the American people. And now half of the country still has This idea that maybe there was collusion with Russia..

"They'll always be a new cable network that gets hot. You Know Bravo went from nothing too hot for a decade. Right? You know. HBO IS HOT than. It's cold then than Sopranos and sex and city than it's hot again. Showtime was super cold and then billions and homeland. You know. So I think you're gonNA see a very similar dynamic with social networks. You know what's interesting about showtime because my sister Danielle Claiming Gilbert worked there. She's a she's an executive in Hollywood They Lord Her from Twenty s twelve is twentieth century Fox back. Then she was head of drama thirty and she said I'm going and I said showtime aren't they just a just a sieve for being movies and reruns and she said they want to be the next HBO. and. Sure enough. They got weeds. These were the early shows that she worked on weeds and Dexter and. An incredible run and and that show from friendster and my space to tick tock and instagram. It's been proven to me that that will be the way it goes plus every kid's generation doesn't want to go to the club the hot club of their older siblings or their parents for damn shore, and so you're going to continue to see this happen and you know I'm I'm never emotional about it if tomorrow. Every social network of my tens of millions of followers that you mentioned earlier disappeared off the face of the earth I'd be happy because what I would realize is forget about my tens of millions it's billions of people that use these platforms, and now every one of those people has to find a new place to go and I think I'm very good at understanding those new places and how to communicate on. You mentioned growing up in a Soviet bloc communist country. I'd be resisted I and ask you about what's going on in Belarus. The former Soviet nation right now with huge protests against the longtime leader Alexandro. Alexander. CA- check against the longtime leader Alexandra go who will not relinquish power. He's held for what twenty six years his political opponents of either been chased out of the country or a -ducted this. Social. Media can play a role in ousting him at some point. Yes. But I also think that it has been very clear in the last three hundred years of history that if you do not have. The intervention, it's very hard for these victims because they're willing to kill everybody. When summit like? If you look at the history of these things, the ones that dig in the most and have the longest runs are basically in a place where they're willing to. Do, whatever they need to do from a jailing killing standpoint to scare the collective in and normally not always. But normally, you'll have outside intervention over the modern. Era It's been the United States of America but but if you look at the Green Movement in Iran and if you look at what's going on under right now with Belarus both Obama and trump. Were passive in they're actually going in and really really trying to get involved and so I view these things as. Less likely to happen when you have a passiveness from an America to get involved they then times whether it's been. Brian or or or by the way in reverse China some of the former USSR when it got involved and whether it's Q-bert things that nature. So I think you sometimes need a bigger brother and my bet is that Putin, will get involved before trump will get involved, which makes me think that he has a chance of getting through to the other side, which is too bad because there is no confusion that has been a dictatorship now. Well, you know it could happen. You Know Nikolai Ceaucescu was overthrown and yet. Like will and Sochaux Grio power to deal with what was going on in Poland but I. But that was during that was during an era where we were feeling the effects of a post. Reagan. Initiative that was very aggressive. In a first weakening the Soviets. We there was great fortune for the world had an incredible era. Of Prosperity and peace because dominant conflict of the USSR. The USA had the right combination of presidents at the right time. A pushing Reagan and a far more passive. Gorbachev who inherited a country? That was I mean I live in America my entire life because Russia was USSR excuse me was in such bad shape that they traded a couple hundred thousand Jews me included for weet from America that Israel and America brokered. Because what people listen Gorbachev was? Very important but he also inherited a country that was dying from within itself. He was practical. He knew what the outcome would be and he had to do something or it was eating itself from the inside, which is what happens in communist regimes. You know where China has a very different structure is there a communist capitalist country? So it their half pregnant on both sides which enables them to be far. You know what's funny about China China actually runs its country very similar to the way that private business runs itself in America. Very good well run businesses in America allow their executives to do a whole lot put ultimately there is a coo. Pretty much has carte blanche to do their thing as long as they board support. That's kind of what China is, which is like you can do your stuff. But like if we need to make a decision, we're GONNA make it in America. Has. Actually. Ironically, become more of that over the last three presidents with executive orders but up to that point. We're getting nothing done well, Gary. Let's finish up with America when it comes to what we're seeing here in this country today from corona virus to the spike in unemployment and racial injustice. How do you remain optimistic? For me pretty easily because the reality is is that this is still America. Let's America's going through a very difficult time unfortunately. Everyone's dug in on this place where they think they're I've never seen a collected three, hundred million people decide the aid themselves are right about everything and that's kind of where we're at and then obviously given the political structure and just the way this country's built to very competing sides, which you know have lost their way collectively in working with each other and have spread further and further apart of created real contention for me. The way I stay optimistic is I think that there's peaks and valleys life is never just easy and great and I think history has made me optimistic not. Multiple Times during Kobe people have said to me, it's never been this bad. Then I go you mean like the civil war like I think we? I think people struggle especially Americans because we've had such global prosperity. Nine eleven is devastating the two thousand eight financial crisis is devastating. But when you put those two things into context of what this country has been about basically from nine, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, two, two, thousand, twenty, that's a forty year prosperity run. That is very difficult. To, not understand why many Americans struggle with any adversity at all in any shape or form. This is a country that has currently a republican regime in place that when Kobe happens everybody just believes the government should print money and give it to them. Not Even Not, even be the fiscally responsible types are speaking up I mean let's call it what it is. George Bush and Donald Trump printed the biggest stimulus checks of the last one, hundred years and an an I. think that's because there is no truth fiscally responsible conservative people wanted for everybody but themselves. And they want to hold onto power they want to remain responsive listen. So I understand honestly I'm not on a judgment tour on. WHAT'S THE ALTERNATIVE? What am I going to just think it's doomsday like all these people I've lived through my adult life where people told me if George Bush got reelected, they were moving to Canada and then eight years later, my friends on the other side said if Obama gets reelected moving to Canada and now you know millions of people are saying they're moving out of this country of trump gets reelected, and then what you realize is nobody ends up doing it. And and there's a reason for that because life is about alternatives and look I think we have many issues but so do many other places in the world and also. I actually a funny guy I think we're getting to such a white heat negative moment that I do think the counter action..

"Some extremely progressive in my understanding of the Internet and social media, and so I've had that really shrunk rear over the last twenty years, but it's funny mix of new and old world. How old were you when you started your first business and what wasn't? All. The like I think my first business was a lemonade stand where I had four or five of them and I that's a big deal like four or five lemonade stands and you're making signs you're really building a business but I would say the first real real real real business was my baseball card business I was eleven. By was twelve I was actually making three, hundred, seven, hundred, thousand, thirteen, some real significant one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty s money especially from. You know from our families point of view and so. That was my first real real businessmen since then I've. been. Building, I built my dad's business for him for basically twenty years, and then I started my own business with my brother. And I've been that's IT I've been very family business old school kind of living since that. I'm. I'm kind of pretend. You didn't say you had a chain of lemonade stamps. What is going on? Wait a minute don't just go over that. It can't just gloss over that. You had five. How are you running these things? Robbie turn Marissa Bird Michael Bronfman Andy Greco. On them at I would sit on Tinley Lane and Oak Tree Road in Edison New Jersey, and I would look at cars. This is actually crazy actually when I realized, I would tell this lemonade story in my early speaking career. About like my back story because nobody really knew who I was when it first started speaking and and. Out of nowhere one day probably the. Two, hundred time telling the story. I said Oh my God I forgot what I was doing during that time I was looking at cars driving on streets trying to figure out which tree or post was most likely GonNa be looked at, and that's where I would put my I signed an in this talk and it's not a recorded talk which really pisses me off because it'd be a great clip to show. It's literally the place where I recognized for the first time in my life that I have been following and paying attention to. My whole life that what I do today right now as I sit with you right now is what do I do for a living? I strategically understand where? Do. I. Best on seven point seven billion people. But I'm incredibly strong at three hundred million for America where two three hundred million. Americans actually pay attention to which APP which TV show which song which artist what with what owns the attention of America and how am I going to penetrate it? And speak the things I care about or my passions or my clients now with major media, and in that speech on that stage was when I realized Mike Hot I've been doing this my whole life I've been obsessed where where the attention is and then I would market communicate pontificate in those places and my success would be predicated on how good I was at that. I'm only as strong as I. Assed observations and I think that's kept me very tight and narrow because there's many things have assumptions on. But I don't know what I definitely do know how to market and how to one businesses. And businesses you did run but you created them you didn't just. Sweep in and say here, let me run this for you. you created a business called Razzie for. Two reservations that was bought by American. Express you at empathy wines. I. WE I don't recall and it was very joint. It's one of those. Really Great. Dialogue, Ping Pong back and forth leads to an idea it was hey, we should start something that helps people like Uber helps people on demand a car who would have ever thought a black car on demand. Well, getting a great seat at a restaurant. When you can't. It you know obviously there was open table which was an incredible platform but open table didn't allow you to actually get a seat at the twenty five to fifty places you wanted to or at least not at the good time slots for and so originally started as an idea this is backed up twenty. You talked about pivots originally started off as a place where. People could treat it like a first class flight on an airline, and you could actually get a table at whatever restaurant you wanted. We realized that that model was a nice business, but it was obviously a top five to ten percent finance person writes could afford it. And then we kind of as we got deeper into business realized that open table was old and not as strong as. One might think and we were able to pivot. Bat An eye and Mike Monteiro are co founder and were able to build a better. Platform a operating system for restaurants and it became a huge huge success. Empathy was easy. Americans and the right to vote: Why it's not easy for everyone to cast a ballot

"A conspiracy theory. Grow this large this quickly and be so divorced from reality. It basically goes like this. President Trump is terrified he's going to lose the election. And he's going to use the Postal Service to try to limit mail in voting as much as possible to in effect, disenfranchised Democrats and steal the race, just as he did with Russian interference in 2016. This conspiracy theory, however, has perhaps even less evidence than the Russia collusion theory. Over the next 15 to 20 minutes. We will systematically debunk this most ridiculous conspiracy theory. Way are not going to allow the president of the United States to dismantle the United States Post office and undermine the possibility that absentee votes could be used in the next election. And he also wants to do everything you can Two stirred out and the results of an election he thinks he's going to lose. So why do Republicans stand behind a Z attacks the most popular institution in the United States government? I don't understand why the president wants to block funding for the post office in order to prevent people from voting. That doesn't seem fair or right or leading. It doesn't seem like it is going to steal a lot of confidence among voters that their ballots are going to be counted right Once you start to realize that your entire states conduct elections with mail in ballots once you realize the history of the Postal Service is incredible Accomplishments, you know and how it's a backbone for the country. You know, you understand the stakes of what's going on here. You mentioned Republican leaders as well. Carl isn't this about moral bankruptcy of the Republican Party Democrats, aided by their allies in the left leaning media, been accusing President Trump of trying to rig the election by interfering with the United States Postal Service in an effort to have her mail in voting, But the simple truth is that there's no truth to this claim whatsoever. In May, a scathing report by the Government Accountability Office confirmed what's been widely known for more than a decade. The Postal Service is in deep, deep financial trouble since it's designated as an independent agency. It's not funded by tax money, but rather expected to support itself through the fees it charges for using its service. But as technology has made email and messaging communication far easier, and competitors such as FedEx, ups and Amazon have eaten into the post office's package delivery service, fewer and fewer people are paying to send mail. This has been a big and worsening problem. Since 2009 when the O designated the USPS as being at risk for fiscal insolvency, as it wrote in the report issued in May. Since Geo's 2009 high risk designation, the postal Services financial viability is progressively worsened due to declining mail volume. Increased employee compensation and benefit costs. An increased unfunded liabilities and debt. First class mail volume has declined 44% since fiscal year 2006. Additionally, employee compensation and benefits costs have been increasing, although the Postal Service's workforce declined from about 786,000 in fiscal year 2007. To about 617,000 In fiscal year 2013. The USPS is workforce increased to about 630,000 in fiscal year 2019. Finally, total unfunded liabilities and debt continue their steady upward trend. Now, this has resulted in the post office, losing roughly 78 $1,000,000 from 2007 to 2019. Senator Barack Obama recognize this way back in 2008 while he was campaigning for president, if you think about it Ups and FedEx. They're doing just fine. It's it's the post office is always a problem. When President Obama took office, his administration attempted to ease the financial crush on the post office by altering collection routes in removing mailboxes that simply weren't being used. In the past 20 years, The Washington Post reported. Back in 9 202,000 mail boxes have vanished from city streets, rural routes in suburban neighborhoods Mohr than the 175,000 that remain. Between 2011 and 2016 The Obama administration ordered an additional 14,000 mailboxes removed because they were underperforming, which the Post office defines his collecting fewer than 25 pieces of mail per day. This routine elimination of mailboxes to consolidate mail collection and keep operational costs down has continued since President Trump was inaugurated in 2017. But now President Obama and his vice president Joe Biden, are casting this as an attempt by Trump to keep people from voting. By mail as president, Obama told his former advisor David Plouffe, on a podcast this past week. What we've never seen before, is President say, I'm goingto tryto actively kneecap the Postal Service encourage voting and I will be explicit about the reason I'm doing the postmaster general said, would delay the approaching liquidity crisis. That was all the aid for the Postal Service in the cares act completely. Separately, The bill also gave $400 million to something called the Election Assistance Commission for distribution to states to prevent, prepare for and respond to Corona virus domestically or internationally for the 2020 federal election cycle. This, however, wasn't enough for Democrats and they're now demanding a $25 billion bailout for the post office in the next round of Corona virus relief funding, as well as $3.5 billion earmarked for mail and voting on Fox Business Network President Trump said. Well, that was simply too much. You know, there's nothing wrong with getting out and voting. You get out and vote. They voted during World War one and World War two. They should have voter ID because the Democrats scammed the system, but it's two of the items are the post Office and the 3.5 $1,000,000,000 The mail and voting Now, if we don't make a deal, that means you don't get the money. That means they can't have Universal mail in voting that just can't have it. So you know, crazy will be many more just nature. Now Democrats have interpreted this, says Trump, admitting he's deliberately trying to sabotage mail in voting by preventing the passage of desperately needed funding for it. But this claim to falters under the way to the fact of the post office can already handle the expected flood of mailed ballots this November. According to the Postal Service's annual report. In fiscal year 2019 USPS handled 142.5 1,000,000,000 pieces of mail on a typical day, the report notes are 633,000 employees physically process and deliver 471 male pieces to nearly 160 million delivery points. Now this year, That number is higher because the Postal Service has been delivering stimulus checks as well, A census forms now those alone added about 450 million additional pieces of mail. In 2016 roughly 136 million Americans voted in the presidential election. The number's probably going to be a little bit higher this year. If official set ballots to every single American who's registered to vote. That's about 158 million people, and then 140 million people returned ballots. The roughly 298 million pieces of mail handled over the course of several weeks would be well within the Postal Service's ability to handle them all. Now. Officials, of course, won't send a ballot to every American who's registered to vote, and not every voter will vote This too. His false. The changes were ordered to streamline mail collection and limit mail carrier overtime costs, which top $1 billion per year, as the Washington Times reported. In the past, postal delivery worked this way Ah, worker would arrive in the morning and work on various things in the office. Sorting mail handling holds on mail waiting for incoming mail to arrive. To prepare for delivery that often involved waiting around for hours and then starting an actual delivery route later in the day once started, a route has to be finished, and that involved workers going into overtime as they delivered through their route as evening approached. Did. Joyce plan, which is now being implemented in a pilot program in about 200 cities is called expedited to ST Afternoon Sort. A Shin or esa es un during a worker will arrive in the morning. Collect all the mail that was ready to go out and head out for delivery. It's known as retrieve load and go. Then, after finishing the delivery route, the carrier would return to the office and do in the afternoon. The office work that used to be done in the morning that way, when the end of his or her shift arrived, That would be the end of the workday. No overtime would be incurred. Mail that arrived to the office in the afternoon. While the carrier was doing office work would be delivered in the next morning's route. It would be ready and waiting with the carrier arrived for retrieve load and go. The effect to customers would be that mail was delivered to the office in the afternoon. It would be delivered the next morning. Instead of that evening, the effect of the Postal Service would be to save an enormous amount of money in overtime costs, streamlining operations and making the postal service more effective. However, this has been cast as mail carriers simply leaving pieces of mail, especially mailed in ballots on the floor for days. For weeks at a time. There's no evidence to support this baseless allegation. Justus. There's no evidence to support the notion that the Trump Administration has been removing mailboxes or mail sorting machines in an effort to a happier mail in voting. Mail in voting might be impacted by not but not by postal service operations but rather by individual state laws, which make mail in voting cumbersome, especially in New York, where a congressional primary conducted at the end of June still doesn't have a declared winner by the middle of August. The Postal Service, in other words, can easily handle mailed in balance. It doesn't need a $25 billion bailout, and it doesn't need $3.5 billion on top of the $400 million that has already been earmarked specifically for mail in voting. The Postal Service will remain fiscally solvent at least until the end of 2021 but efforts to change it efforts listening to the Dan O'Donnell show. And on is it's ah, far right conspiracy theory that posits that President Trump is working behind the scenes to bust the secret cob. All of Pedophiles led by Hillary Clinton and John Podesta, and pretty much every celebrity that you've ever heard off. There's no actual evidence for it, of course, but because a number of Q and on believers and one Republican primaries, it's being hold. My goodness, This is the worst thing that ever happened to mainstream politics. We've got conspiracy theory believers. There's no conspiracy less founded on actual evidence than this post office nonsense. In fact, I've seen pictures on the Internet that have been circulated. Now Twitter and Facebook have done their level best to try to make sure that misinformation about elections nothing that could undermine faith in elections is allowed on their platforms, except for these pictures of mailboxes in Wisconsin. Of all places. That are piled up. They've been taken off the streets. Trump doesn't want you to be ableto Drop your piece of mail in a mailbox. Well, what these pictures Don't point out is these are piled up. Sure, at a facility that refurbishes the mail boxes to put them back on the streets. It's always got a stack of mail boxes outside because it's working on them. Refurbish them, then this idea that sorting machines and mail boxes have been ripped off of the streets in the last couple of months so that we can vote by mail is nonsensical. Unless you're willing to tell me. That Barack Obama and Joe Biden, who saw over 2011 and 2016 5 years. The removal of 14,000 mailboxes and 200,000 mailboxes removed in the years before that. Unless you're willing to tell me that they're part of the conspiracy. You're almost forced to admit that there is simply no evidence behind this, but what's remarkable to me? Is how quickly this became mainstream and it got me thinking. Well, wait a second. Wait a second. Wait a second. If Joe Biden is up by as much as the polls suggest he is 10 to 12 points. Why would Democrats suddenly be trying to cast doubt on an election? Right? Wasn't this Almost exactly four years ago. What President Trump was supposedly doing August of 2016 when the first reports on the eve of the Democratic National Convention about election hacks and Russian interference, and all of this started coming out. President Trump's first said that he was worried that the election might be rigged. You might remember President Obama rose Garden press conference said. How would you even rig the presidential election? Donald Trump is whining about losing an election that hasn't even happened yet. The idea was that Trump was going to cast doubt on the legitimate legitimacy of the election because he knew he was going to lose. Remember the pole similarly showed him down 10 15 points. He had no chance of beating Hillary Clinton. So he was preemptively whining about the fact that Clinton and her cronies we're going to use massive vote fraud to cheat. Why are Democrats doing this? When their candidate is up 10 points. Maybe it has something to do. With this. A new CNN poll finds that 50% of registered voters back the Biden Harris presidential ticket. While 46% say they support Trump and Pence right at the polls, margin of error plus or minus 4% points. There's a new CNN poll. Across 15 battleground states. Biden has the backing of 49% of registered voters while Trump lands at 48%. In other words, that massive lead doesn't actually

"fox business network" Discussed on 710 WOR

"Natalie asked, asked our next guest column. Mcceney Fox Business Network anchor. If he had a song involving food or drink because we like to get some of our guests involved our little games here, and she apparently stumped Connell. I mean, he's been really racking his brain the last few minutes, but Connell having trouble coming up with something as simple as a you know the pina colada disappointment. It's not that difficult kind of him. Every 41 in the morning and I'm supposed to be Michael come up with the Margaritaville was the 1st 1 I thought of a certain kind of cheesy and then I paused for a second, and I said, This whole thing is cheesy. Exactly. That's the point. Exactly. Well, it's funny when I worked for I misused to have the thing where he would ask everyone to give their five favorite songs before they came on. And there were most people cooperated and loved it. And, you know, Greedo came up with a bunch of show tunes. Another piece came up with the songs that they like. And there were a few that refused My Fox colleague I, Brit Hume, I believe didn't want to give his song so I must would refuse to have a monitor just wouldn't have amount of the guest if you didn't give you that. In my memory. I'll say well, but remember this margaritas that's good. We'll take it well, so that's a good entry will take it. But you know, I miss refused to play my songs. I would give him Shirley Bassey singing diamonds are forever and just wouldn't play my songs. I wonder why Michael Hey, Connell. So let me ask you what the governor is threatening to shut down restaurants and bars if they don't Practice social distancing, and he's threatening to roll back the whole thing. Close Everybody up. I don't know what your senses talking to restaurant bar owners, but the ones I talked around here say if they're shut down again, they are not coming back. That's the end of their business for them. Well, some of you already haven't right, Michael. I mean, someone didn't make it through this. So if that's the case, then you know that others were right on the on the brake. It's tough. I mean, we talked to them all the time yesterday at a guy Don that operates restaurants and bars in both New York and in Georgia, and he was a kind of he was a guy who had to deal with the regulations in both states and how it's different in both state and even said even in the archive is dealing with a restaurant he had in Manhattan differently than money had in Queens, and that was based a lot largely on foot traffic, where a lot of people in Manhattan had You know, presumably second homes or whatever the case may be that the neighborhood of his restaurant and was in this crowded so decided he'd shut that one down and and one out in Queens. I think in a story and he says, I'm gonna leave that one open because I and make sure I have my outdoor dining set up because I do have the traffic to do it and get by, but not get by the way they used to do it. So if there is a rollback your urine shin deep economic Trouble. That's kind of been this fine line. We've been trying to walk throughout this pandemic in the other states as well. And you know there's two sides to it because look at what happened in Florida or in Texas, when they're so anxious to get your economy up and running that it seems fairly clear now that some of those states opened up a little bit too early and you pay a price for that as well. So it's just some precedent and it's hard to get through. But I think you're right. We did have another Shut down for some of these restaurants. It would be real big trouble. Hey, Connell, and we're on with comic saying of the Fox business network. Can you put a percentage for a restauranteur? If he does some outdoor dining as he is able to recoup 20% 40% and and listen when the weather turns cold? He's not going to be outside. So I mean, I This is fraught with problems. I think Yeah, The cold weather problem is obviously really, especially if we have many people fear about a second wave of the virus to most of the restaurant owners. We've done a number shows restaurants here locally speak in terms of profit margins on where they can turn their their profit. And I, you know, I think it differs depending on how big your restaurant is, depending on where it's located. And things like that. But generally speaking, many of them have said that when they went to the 50% capacity that that's not enough, 75 a few of them have told the 75% of their normal capacity is just about enough to break even in many cases, But you know it's going to begin with. As you guys know, in that business in terms of the margin of profit, So if you're not filling it up the way you normally would, where you have people sitting down, ordering appetizers ordering drinks with dinner. It's really, really tough, so I think you know there's no Number in stone. But a number of restaurant owners have told me if they could just get to about 3/4 of where they were previously at least they can break even or turn a slight profit. Colonel, just a minute left here. But one of the engine of the engines of the economy is when people are buying the big things like cars and washers and dryers and ovens. You seen an uptick in consumer demand on the on that front. Actually hasn't been horrible, Michael. I mean, some of the numbers have not been. We've shifted the way we do it. I mean, obviously, just more things are online. Some of those larger items. You mentioned a little bit more difficult to do that. But now you can buy just about anything on buying. So we've shifted the way we buy things. But the numbers have started to come back. I think it turned out that last week. The caveat There is. We felt so much that when you see a big uptick in the number on whether it's consumer spending or any other Type of economic metric. It's it's coming up such a low base, so you know it's it's a mixed picture, but we had started to bounce back again. I think the big fear is that if thes virus numbers don't improve You know you haven't even gotten through as the experts tell us the first wave of second wave look like so there's a lot of concern about the future. But so far, you know, we have started about fact and just guys the final point. I think the big thing now is what is Congress going to do on stimulus, specially extended unemployment benefits and that kind of thing really over the next week and 1/2 or so, and that will go a long way to tell us where the economy goes, at least in the short term, while we try to buy ourselves some time.
