North Carolina goes to trump. What about Michigan? Michigan goes to Trump. Wisconsin. Trump. What he did. If if if you're right on all of those states, he doesn't even need Pennsylvania. Lucy. Russ, do me a favor. I want you call back later on during the week and take a victory lap or tell me G. Maybe the posters were right. Okay. I will call back and take a victory Rap because we have to form a victory lap because we have four more years off a wonderful economy. The stock market booming jobs, increasing Salaries. All right, I got the following is a paid political wonder It's going to be wonderful. Next fouryears. Damn. Thanks for us. Call back. Let me know Jack in Norwich, Jack. Next on night side. Youre on the rig Septal nice that Kovalenko head, Jack. Critics. Thank you for taking the call that you want a speakerphone. No, I'm not in a speakerphone. Really? What's all that noise in the background? I'll shut off Kamala Harris. Let's put Jack on. Hold for a second. Okay? And we'll come back to Jack. You've got to be ready, folks, Edison, Matthew and Ed next on nights I go ahead. You're on the retention. Nice to speak to me. Then they can You know what I was going to mention? One thing that really irritates me more than anything. This is their only chance. The Democrats the point. That thing is at Donald Trump for the pandemic, and they're blaming him. But when you really look at the situation, you step back. Oregon, Wisconsin, New York. They didn't want the federal government in there. When there were riots. They should control that. Well, why doesn't anybody take on their own responsibility and mandate from the government now enough, necessarily from the government down, but from the state and local government demanded and say, where your mask now all the Senate's Donald Trump's responsibility. Sure example by doing the right thing. Maybe he don't always wear his mask, but they want to blame him for everything. Well, Didn't Harry Truman say the buck stops here? No. I mean that's the problem that that he's dealing with, right? I mean, if he had taken the pandemic more seriously, I mean, we can go through all of the arguments that he made a will have a miracle by Eastern. He did say that you remember that right? The might of there were a lot of said this could all be gone by Easter. No, He didn't say what year Easter in fairness to him, But I think most of us assumed that way. We're hoping Easter of let off this year. That's true. He's always had a positive outlook just like what he said. And they caught him on that. Whatever the secret of tape that he didn't want to. Ah, panic, everybody, But you know what? I understand that you don't want to panic, everybody. What are you going to tell everybody? Welcome dying, Get thick. No, not a man. You didn't have to do that. Do you think that if he had worn a mask and said, Hey, look, this is serious. You know you You saw the interview. Who do with Bob Woodward. You know that right? The guy. I don't think that was an interview that Bob Woodward did on 60 minutes. Bob Woodward of Woodward and Bernstein of the Washington Post Watergate reporters and basically, he's on tape on tape, said the Wood Wood. Back in February. We know this is serious while publicly he was saying, that's not quite a serious, you know, Right? Right. He was playing it down, but he knew it was serious. But then again, he doesn't want anybody to get panicked. You know if everybody does the right thing on their own personal responsibility. I'm on the world daily. Before I go into a business. I went my mouth and I looked around and I do, too. Why did he not encourage More people you know, to wear mask. I think that he found sort of what one of them State and local government do that to. Why's all the president now? All of a sudden, it's his fault. OK? No, that's not a bad point. Now we have encouraged by the way, Charlie Baker has encouraged people in Massachusetts. He released new restrictions today. In which he's now re imposing a mask mandate. I'm I'm trying to recall whether or not we have ahead an absolute mass mandate, but this looks like it's more serious that this is going to be something I've got to do. I don't know. So I used to. Are you confident your guy's gonna win tomorrow? Well, I'm really, really nervous. He's given people reason not to like him. But I absolutely love him because he does things that he says he's going to Dio. I want to do about while I don't care what you people say, I'm going to take us out of the NATO paying all these funds of the World Health Organization. You kiss up to China. We're not going to be into the mall. We can go through the whole list. The the embassy in Jerusalem this there's a lot that we go through. We have fewer troops today in areas of conflict around the world that we have when he came to office that not all home but a lot more home than Then then maybe we would have expected So there's people that will have to see how it works out. "I don't try. Oh, you're dropping out, but we get the picture. All right, Howard, thank you for that. I want to get too many more here. Oliver and Fairfax is next. Triple 86 30. A l Did you vote for Trump fouryears ago, Oliver. Hey, Larry. How you doing? No, I did not vote for Trump and Second I wrote in for General James Mattis four years ago because I was so frustrated by our choices, and I already I already voted ups and I've voted for Trump proudly. This time. I'm a United Methodist minister, So I want to echo someone. Our last caller just talked about I'm a Christian minister of a conservative of theologically and politically We're not voting for our pastor and seeks. We're not voting for a theologian in chief. We're voting for our chief executive of the government. To enact policies on DSO. We're citizens of the Kingdom of heaven, but we're also citizens off the world and we have to act as responsible citizens of the world and so to stand up and oppose abortion. Mom to look out for national security. Those are issues that matter to me, and I think a war since that matter to every Christian Yeah, it's funny because my faith definitely animates my vote. But I'd never The way my faith animates. My vote is very different than some of the critics of President Trump and critics of people who take our religion seriously and and and how we vote because the way my faith animates my vote is exactly how you described it. Oliver based on policy, how this individual's policies and what he or she will emphasize and prioritize as the head of the executive branch of government. How that informs and empowers my personal faith. Not because my faith never dictates to me to vote for the holiest person or that I could work for an atheist or or a Muslim or a Jew or a Buddhist if their policies are in line with what I prioritize with my Christian faith, right? And that's exactly right. Sir. Like I voted for Mitt Romney in 2012. He's off the Mormon religion, and I don't want to be disrespectful about that. Theologically. I disagree with the Mormon faith but on policy matters. I was happy to vote for him at that time, so I don't know that I would vote for this, isn't it? I want it. Exactly. It isn't ironic, Oliver that Trump actually ends up being much more of the faithful conservative on principles and values than Romney appears to be. All right, Oliver. Thank you for that Want to make one other point, Larry? And that's that Trump not also endorses policy that my faith concurs with But he also stands for freedom of religion, I think is that he stands for allowing me and anybody else to practice our faith as God leads us. And not restrict our face, and that's important. You're right. Religious liberty is on the ticket and Trump Pence definitely stands on the right side of that equation as well. Well, said, Oliver. Thank you, Marc in Haymarket. We're talking to people who did not vote for Trump four years ago. From a conservative specter perspective. Go ahead, Mark. Yes, I didn't vote for Trump last time. That was really I'm going to vote for him This time. I love the guy. But last time there was nothing recommending. In fact, he He was insulting, insulted a lot of different people insulted of the senator from Texas. Ted Cruz. Yeah, Craig Cruise was my vote in the primary, and I didn't like the way he conducted himself against Cruz at all. And other things in his life in and the fact I just got the New York level, but I think after you grow up into the Donovan Hey, motive and I'll gladly vote for him this time. But I was a little bug that Rush Limbaugh because Okay, vote through. He would never give me on. Why should I vote for Trump and Faras? Mark? Events consent. He too, So I know Oh, This is what I was concerned for her work with, but I never got a wife. Should I trust him to get politicians lie and people running wild? Thanks, Mark. I appreciate I get two more calls. Thank you for that. You know, I do remember vividly the day before the election, I was on the air waded our morning show mornings on the mall on Brian Wilson, my partner at the time and I both gave we gave our wise We said All right. Final arguments. Give your reason why, and when it came my turn my Why was pretty much what I just articulated number one. He's not Hillary Clinton. And so those Supreme Court justices will be nominated by by not Hillary Clinton. Number one and number two. He will. He's promised to enforce our immigration laws as written, which is something that we haven't had in decades. Number three. He's put together a great tax cut plan, written by Larry Kudlow and Stephen Mohr. And even if part of it gets past that will be huge and number for the biggest reason of all because it will make the heads of George Stephanopoulos and Chris Cuomo and and and Brian Williams and everyone in the mainstream media. It will make their heads explode with fury and anger. And if that's not the reason To vote for this guy. I can't think of another one on I'll be honest with you. I'm pretty much in the same place this time around as well. All right, more of you who did not vote for Donald Trump. But you're voting now I want to hear Why Tripoli 6 30 PM Let's check in with the carpet cleaning.

"On the line. And hard fought victories for the LGBTQ class community are on the line. Matthew in my home state of Washington and his husband were able to marry to adopt and fortunate to be able to form a loving family. But that might not be possible for LGBT Curia. Plus couples like them in the future. If the highest court in the land turns back the clock and refuses to see them as equal under the law, Mr President, the bottom line is that this this Supreme Court fight is now Not about politics. It is about the lives of hundreds of millions of people, and if Republicans don't believe my constituents, I invite them to ask their own. I encourage them to listen because I guarantee people across the country know what Republicans have been saying No exactly what Republicans are voting for, and they are speaking up about it. I'm here sharing their stories on the Senate floor, and Democrats brought their stories to the committee room so that Republicans have No choice but to hear them And when we vote, Republicans will have no excuse to pretend they do not know exactly what's at stake. Instead, every one of them will have a simple choice. Will you listen to the families who are speaking up the people who are saying to you in no uncertain terms that if you put this judge on the court, If you win this partisan lawsuit, it could kill me. Or will you ignore them? If Republicans truly want to reassure their constituents and want to show their listening the choice It is simple vote no on this nomination, And to those who choose to put this president and the profoundly lost Republican Party above anything else to those Republicans who are capping these brutal last fouryears off with such a staggering show of fealty and partisanship and callousness know the consequences of this vote will be felt long after this president is gone from office. Regardless of the outcome of this election. People of this country will not forget. And neither will your Democratic colleagues. Thank you, Mr President, Senator Patty Murray on the floor of the Senate. The Senate has been in session all night and continues debate today on the U. S. Supreme Court nominee Amy Cockney Barrett. "We'll find out where this dealership soon, so I'll keep you guys posted a couple articles that I want to touch on here. One that Tucker put in are stacked a pandemic. Pain persists for big oil companies, and then I didn't see it in here. Maybe I just didn't go far enough down on the bottom. No, I didn't see it in here. The other piece on the shale Cos The Wall Street Journal did either of you see that? I didn't catch it this morning. No shock, So I want to touch on this. This shale piece here first, which I know neither of you have read. Great. S O. What This did was this looked at what the CEOs of these big shell companies were paid. And then what kind of returns they generated? OK, first question. Do you know what the median CEO pay for? A publicly traded US shale company was in 2019? I've got the article open now, so I do, But why don't you go ahead? It's $13 million, which is the fourth highest out of any industry in the country. Let me show you some of the returns that were generated in 2019 during that I'm sorry from 2015 through 2019 for the last five years that these companies were traded. From Cabot Oil and gas. The CEO on average was paid almost $12 million a year. Total shareholder returns Negative 39% during that time. Head of marathon oil paid 11 million year total shareholder returns Negative 48% during that time, there's even before this year. Okay, so this is before the destruction that we've seen in energy prices this year. You've seen these companies paying CEOs millions of dollars for crappy performance. So there's this when we talk about like CEO compensation issues. There's a fundamental problem here in that the baseline If if you want to pay CEO $500 Million if they double the company's stock every year. I don't care do it because they're clearly don't look to your musk. Yeah. Yuan must cook as much as you know, we can complain about Hayes. You know, saying this and that on Twitter and tweeting this into it. He's put up when when he's been questioning, and I've questioned him and he's put up results. It's it's It's fair to say that But when your company is losing 50% of its value, and your board of directors is still voting that you should be paid 11 to $13 million a year. There's a problem here because effectively all that we're seeing is a huge transfer of wealth to the managers of these companies at the expense of the shareholders and of the companies themselves. It's not right. It's not good. No, it's it's not good, and it would piss me off. If our and energy investor I'm generally not because I just don't see the growth potential in that sector, But this isn't a new issue of it. Last fouryears Chuck, the energy sector is a whole and shale in particular and several other areas. The energy industry have had terrible performance the last decade. There's just there's no riel argument for why you would compensate someone to this level. Let's take a quick break. When we come back. We are going to do some trivia here on the financial exchange and then what we have coming up next we've got here we go. This is we've got a couple good things that were going to be talking about here, including some update on Nikola and then Playboy going public again. We'll talk about how that's gonna play out right after this Corona.

"Of Business Day Two of the ruling and convention brought us a message of compassion from the first lady Melania Trump and attributes of President Trump's foreign policy from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Welcome now the man who served his policy director for Mitt Romney's run for president. He's Lonnie Chen Hoover Institution fellow and Stanford University director of domestic policy states. Lonny Always a pleasure to have you with us. Give us Your overall impression of the first two days of this convention. Well, I think David the goal of the RNC was twofold. First of all, to speak to Trump's political base to mobilize that political base to get them enthused and Donald Trump's certainly That's something you've seen a lot of content oriented toward and then. Secondly, it was to soften the edges of Donald Trump to make him A kinder, gentler, softer Donald Trump if you will, and I think that's what last night's goal was with Melania. Trump's speech with some of the activity around the swearing in ceremony for new immigrants need citizens. The goal again to make Donald Trump seemed more personable to seem softer, and I think so far the RNC has done a decent job of achieving both of those goals so long there was some criticism. I think it's fair to say of the Democrats last week, saying that sort of soft on the pot. Lissy part on the specifics a same time. I don't think I've heard very much yet about exactly what President Trump would do with four more years. Yeah, I think the lack of a second term agenda has been something that has plagued the trump effort thus far. I do think it's something that they can continue toe look at doing particularly with the president still set to speak tomorrow night. Traditionally, that is a venue where you would expect to hear Maura about what a second term would look like directly from the nominee. Himself directly from the president himself. But, you know, David, I think it's going to be important for the president and his team to articulate that policy, having been part of several presidential campaigns, having done policy on several presidential campaigns, I do think that voters still want some of that substance. They don't want all of it, but they want some of it. And so far, at least, I think both Biden's team and Trump's team have been pretty light on that second term or the looking ahead policy element. We did get one hint actually, from Laurie Cutler. Senior economic adviser, the presidency and a brief appearance in the convention. Basically saying we're gonna have tax cuts were more deregulation and more tax cuts eyes. That's something that we need is that something that makes sense because we also talk to Rudi Giuliani was a big support of the president's earlier in the week, he says. I don't think we need more tax cuts. Yeah, I mean, look, I think tax cuts one of those things that you're going to get a cheer from a conservative Adi. And certainly that's something that Americans would like to see Is that at the top of the policy priority list, I'm not so sure. Given the cove it 19 pandemic. I would think healthcare is at the top of the list. I think that's something that the Republicans have talked about Alternatives on the healthcare side of the ledger. That's something that I think they need to be more aggressive in. In thinking about which is what are the different solutions to lower healthcare costs to continue to expand access to health care. That's one issue, and then I would say more broadly, economic recovery is an important issue as well. Tax cuts, Maybe a piece of that, But I think that you've gotta be broader and more 50,000 FT level When you're thinking about the different ways to get this economy jump started, not just tax cuts and Lonnie you mention it. You said the cost of health care because there's a lot of people who sort of talk about health care is something that's a good To give people goodness knows we need healthcare. It's great if we provided there's also real economic effect is we were north of 18% of GDP. Now eyes spent on health care, and if you look at the trends, you know this better than I do. Going back into the sixties healthcare has really been going up and up and up and up. It started to sixties much lower than that. Where is the other hand? The cost of the corporate taxes have been going down. Actually, that's not been a growing burden on the economy. Will health care costs are problem. It's not just an increase in health costs, an increase in federal health spending. It's an increase also in out of pocket costs, which workers employees Americans have felt very acutely. The fact that they're spending more money out of their pockets for prescription drugs, spending more money for services. These are going to be critical issues over this next fouryears, regardless of who's president. So I do think it's important by the way for Republicans Toe layout the contrast Democrats have been pretty clear that they're looking for the public sector for the government to take Mohr and more control over the healthcare system. Whether that means via Medicare for all style solution, or is Joe Biden has proposed something called the public option, which would create a government backstop to compete against private plans. Republicans have to present their alternative. Now their alternative doesn't fit on a bumper sticker. It's not the same as the Democrats, but the idea of expanding choice and competition, increasing transparency and prices and quality. Those are all things that have the potential to lower costs down the road and things Republican should be comfortable talking about Lonnie is, you know, health care has been an issue in election after election for some time. This election is a bit different, though, because another whole aspect that is covert 19 and the concern of a covert 19 our response to it, whether we did the right things. What needs to be done going into this? President? Trump was polling not terribly well on that. Is he correcting that in this convention? Well, it's tough. I mean, you know, it's tough because of just the reality of what covert 19 has done to the United States. The economic shutdowns. The lost lives the people in the hospital the fact that kids can't go back to school in many parts of the country. Those are going to be tough things to talk about. I think so far we haven't heard a lot about covert 19. We've heard about how the president put in place the travel ban from China early on, That's been pretty much it last week's convention, the Democrats were on covert 19 non stop. So I do think the Republicans have to figure out today and tomorrow how they begin to counter those narratives begin to counter some of those issues around what's happened with covert 19. I do think otherwise. It is a vulnerability for the Trump Pence ticket at the same time line is we watch his convention You mentioned you've worked on several presidential elections. It is really about Donald Trump. The person I mean is that it's a personality cult. It would appear he doesn't have very many prominent to Republicans around him. Is there a benefit to that perv uses the Republican Party has sort of turned into the Trump Party. Well, First of all, you know, conventions are usually about promoting the nominee, and you will see a lot of nominee promotion whether it was in 2012. When Mitt Romney was the nominee 2008 with John McCain, I think what is unusual this year is the amount of control that President Trump has had over the program. The amount of control he's had over what we're hearing from those Republicans and others who are speaking at this convention. There is no question that Donald Trump has a much stronger hold on the river. Glicken party overall, and that includes by the way, the voter base of the Republican Party, not just elected officials a much stronger hold that we've seen from previous nominees of the Republican Party. Is this party, the party of Trump? You know, I think a lot of that's gonna depend on what happens in the election this year. If Donald Trump wins four more years, his image will be more closely associated with Republican Party. If he's not successful, I do think, David, we're going to see a huge battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party emerged after the election is over, and Lonnie Whether he wins or loses. What does this mean to down ballot as they say What doesn't need specific, particularly in the Senate? Because the Senate now seems to be contesting away we didn't expect two years ago. Yeah, I think you're seeing Senate seats in play across the board, Colorado and North Carolina on Arizona. We knew about..
