"What a fateful day it was, maybe no handcuffs, maybe no mug shot, but just the fact that the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, walking into a courtroom, being processed, being fingerprinted, and being arranged, this is a, this is a very serious matter indeed. With sweeping consequences. Debbie and I last night watched Trump's speech. And I noticed my mood as the day was going on was shifting. Initially, I just felt just sad, not just for Trump but for the country, a little disgusted, outraged, and then as the day went on, I found myself becoming amused and even exhilarated the as I began to see that the 34 felonies are not really 34 felonies. In fact, they're not felonies. I don't think at all as I'm I'll explain, but they're 34 business entries and the business entries are so routine as to be almost comical. Apparently these are communications and payments from Michael Cohen, not from Trump, but Michael Cohen to Stephanie Clifford also known as stormy Daniels. And this is literally with the kind of stuff you have. Counts one through four, February 14th, 2017. Counts 5 through 7, march 17th, 2017, count 8, April 13th to June 1920 17, apparently Michael Cohen was making these payments one by one month here a month there with a couple of months in between. And each of these is now elevated to a felony count. It's the same thing over and over the same payment. It's almost like if Michael Cohen had written one check, $130,000, there'd be only one count in the felony. Now, when I say that this is an event with broad implications, here's a hint of what I mean. Here is the president of El Salvador and he's speaking for a lot of people around the world.

In fact, I've seen Indian leaders make similar comments, this is El Salvador president bukele. Quote, think what you want about former president Trump and the reasons he's being indicted, but just imagine if this happened in any other country where a government arrested the main opposition candidate. The United States ability to use democracy as foreign policy is gone.

It's not not a grill anymore The way they make that that's a that's a single sheet of polycarbonate that's molded. And then what they what they do. Is they paint the backside black. And then they use laser ablation to remove the black paint to create the pattern. The for the lights..

"And canning's and beer lindsay talks about why this service is so important during covert. Obviously we kind of know why it's important but she goes on to To elaborate on that right now i guess for the last year now in particular breweries that aren't packaging. Had no way of selling their beer because kegs aren't going to bars and restaurants like they were and you know when top rooms are closed cans out the doors. The only way that anybody can make any money. So we've been working like crazy since kobe to make sure that all of our customers and a lot of burris weren't previously our customers. Don't go out of business during all of this. Of course i had asked about future right goals that is goals so lindsay talks about another company that they're starting and what they're going to achieve in that direction. One thing that you know has been a challenge over as many years if they can man. Is that customers. That don't have the right equipment or facility of their own for what they wanna to do. And he can For instance wineries. That wants to do a carbonated wine. But don't have pressure rated tanks or a cocktail company that doesn't have a licensed facility of their own Over the past many years those customers we've had two. We've had to help them. Find third party hosts facilities that can host their product and then we show up and do the canning there but then they're dealing with another middleman that they have to pay and we're dealing with somebody else's scheduling and whether that host facility knows how to carbonate properly it's And it's always just kind of adding extra layer of complexity so finally in january of last year By business partner. Jen and i am a new business partner. Who's been a longtime cocktail. Customer of the camden Started a company called tank space. And it's also in sacramento. It's kinda like outside of the thomas area And it's going to be a host facility that can bring in all of these products that need home and wolf pack. The van will packaging here in house. So i've been working The last couple of weeks on putting in the glycol an insulating. It only have oliver tanks in and we're going to start producing within the next couple of weeks it's primarily just a place For that other people can do our d and small batch projects. It's gonna focus on wine pocket. Tales and seltzer is primarily Places that currently have a hard time finding a home for small and medium scale production or again. They've been serving northern california. Since two thousand eleven tons of different canning options they do consulting they work with winemakers all of that stuff hand to attitude absolutely so visit the can van dot com for more information could email them at hello at the canned van dot com. "Two eight four february twenty-second twenty twenty one and we've got the first of a two part interview for you today and today we're gonna be talking with the head instructor from the tech learning collective and these guys are up in new york city though they offer courses anyone. The internet and i took one of the workshops recently and it was really quite good and this is not your regular tech education group. His guys are have really taken a very different and important perspective on learning about computers in cybersecurity and honestly they really just have a very interesting different perspective on technology as a whole You'll get a sense of that From this interview but you know really taking a kind of a deep a deep look at you know what technology really is and what its impact is on our daily lives and you know how knowledge of technology can really could create significant power imbalances with really serious repercussions and one of the other things. I really enjoyed about the class. And we'll talk a little bit about in that every today is some very interesting historical perspectives and why understanding how we got to where we are today with technology what the origins of something's things are really kind of colors. Your understanding of what technology does and what. It was what it was really meant to do. And if you were if if you're interested at all and learning about computers. I i'm guessing you must have some interest in that or you probably wouldn't be listening to this podcast but know college courses. I don't have time for that or the money for that. Or maybe you've looked at some of these cyber security certification programs and even thought those were too expensive or involved. These guys have some really interesting classes that you might want to look at for a lot less money and are a lot more practically focused so anyway i don't wanna make this an infomercial but there was a reason to reach out to these guys and wanted to feature the air because they're doing some great stuff so we'll get into that day and the interview now. I haven't seen any new podcast reviews or book reviews. But i did want to mention something. I don't think i mentioned before this actually happened a few months back. But the privacy issue which is really cool. Website added me to their list of their top ten privacy. Podcasts and i'm in some really rarefied company there so anyway if that's if you wanna check that out i'll put a link of the show notes. You can look at me on that list and see what else on lsu might be interested in. But i was very proud to make that list. So that's all. I really have by way prologue. Let's let's get right to our interview with the tech learning collected.

"In vegas gathering in a single point to witness this outdoor execution of larry and ray or ralph in the book and and then the the bomb showing up in their midst. If you're going to televise the execution and people can watch it from wherever there's a screen which is in literally everywhere then. You don't need to be there to see it you don't need to be. I mean it's an atomic bomb. You kinda don't need to be near either. So so i guess there's that logic but the whole point was everybody was on was on top of the top of each other for the execution in here. There's even less reason for them to be gathered. Another thing i want to mention. Is that the lightning effect. It was really cool to see like again. The special effects budget is great in the show. The lightning zaps people apart. They kind of just like explode when they get hit by this electricity. But it's also an affected. I've seen like a dozen times. And things like star trek indiana jones. Yeah you know the the phaser goes off in the person just like disintegrates and okay. Great but why did the show spend literally minutes minutes that they could have been doing more character development or something zapping them individually one by one. Let's kill julie. let's kill so and so let's kill. You know like when a bomb was gonna go off and kill everybody and it actually gives time for people to run away like the. The crowd gets scared and they escaped the hotel. They run into the streets. They don't get far enough to avoid being killed by the bomb so all the main players to the most evil people the ones responsible for the most debts. They all get individual instantaneous. Almost like merciful killings before the bomb goes off cottages it undercuts itself. I'm getting tired of just being negative about the show. And i'm sorry to our listeners. Who just if they're still tuning in and they're still listening at this point in the episode. Fun stuff's coming up. We had at least two people tweet today saying how they're just hate watching the show at this point. I don't think that we're alone in these thoughts. It just hurts that there is such opportunity in promise and it was just gone by the wayside and again. I don't think that i'm anything special. Like i know it's not easy to write. Produce create direct. tv show. But if i'm figuring this stuff out on the fly five minutes of watching the show you would think well paid writers in a room could have figured this out before it got to screen. Eddie who how about those dark tower. Fini's jay the only one that i found was that the signal of the crimson king kind of like something similar to what we've seen elsewhere was hanging in red banners in front of the courtroom scene and this version of that crimson. I also sort of looked like a spider instead of being like this kind of kind of like the curly q more like a human is shape with some extra spirals in it. This was like an eye that had long lakes that extended down I think it's still worked like you could see that one was was sort of a different interpretation of the other but this one was just had that much more of us. It leaned that which more into stood. The spider idea. And i liked that. I liked the for that. Yeah they also had it hanging up in the inferno during the techno dancing. Oh i saw nothing else in. That accepts cars guard dancing. You can't keep your eyes off of him now. Sir charisma eerie daydreaming promote. I did have a dr tower. Three days We did have a couple of yukking. It up moments mulan would you have. I think i know where you're going. I thought nadine s- planning on the on. The in the pool was a nice touch. I was like okay. That's sort of A neat little thing and then trash cadman obviously has deteriorated further. That was not pleasant. He reminded me of the The one character robocop who falls in the radioactive waste and then gets yeah run over. He's all like god is faces melting yet. So i think those two yuck up moment yeah in a way i think trash came in actually was almost less unpleasant to look at after he was melted by the by the by the radiation you know. He started off covered in scars that that went from his the top of his head like across most of his face both of his arms hands. Everything was like heavily heavily scarred and now he just had this nice even like radiation burn. That sort of just smooth him back out again but cy agree that he still was pretty gross. The yukking it up. That i wanted to call out is sort of the the next step from what you talked about. With nadine's fall into the pool. And that is when larry is shown her her head end the scattered teeth the missing lower jaw. The sheared away knows who it was awful. I think it was in awesome. Physical effect it. Whoever built that head. I don't have any trouble imagining that. A human head ending up looking exactly like that after falling that far hitting that hard you don't turn into just like a person who's asleep with running with a bloody note you are. I think you're physically destroyed. And that's why you're dead from a fall like that so i think they did a great job of showing what that would actually look like. And it was pretty yucky. Sean did we get any new patrons recently. in fact we did. The aforementioned tomei who sent in a email to us is a patron joined at the gunslinger level. And so thank you tom for for doing that. Tom and our other patrons support the show and they get access to exclusive patriotic content. Such as bonus podcast episodes and are one four february kanai just recorded and that is on the short story. The mangla if you become a patron you can listen to that episode's soon and you could hear about nali angler but also the mango or to graduation day. And the mangla three mangla reborn. You ought to get those inside jokes. You gotta become a patron just become a patron like sharon l. Who is celebrating her one year of being a patron this month. So thank you again. Sharon for your continued patronage. Love it all right time for some fun stuff. Oh yeah i wanna start off. I will start off jay. My fun stuff was that this episode was only forty eight minutes long the shortest episode of the series so far for that. I praise you episode. Yes that's one way to fix it. In the edit. Just cut down the total runtime. They still left about forty seven minutes to many. I actually had a lot of fun. In certain moments of the show. And i think a result of that is the extra campinas so while it was maybe like big picture. Wise kinda weird for this tonal shift. I didn't necessarily shy away from it so anyway. Great jokes happened in the courtroom scene. One of those..
