The Importance of Reading Your Dog | Ep: #79
"Welcome back everybody another podcast promised. We just recorded one where knocking out another one. This one's GonNa. Come right off and jump right into it. We're going to facebook. Question that got I've got a lot of questions to catch up on. Because we are coming off of that workshop this weekend and I'm digging out of digging out of that hole. This was interesting. This is a question that came says I'm GonNa? Read it to you I've not. I have had some messages I've sent I didn't even realize that. May Seventh, which wasn't that long ago? May Seventh I got a message that says hey, Jeremy, now this kind of changes things because I'm literally processing it as we speak. I didn't realize I thought this was the first message I got from. This guy, isn't so he? Jeremy? This is his first message. That may seventh, which is like. A month ago, love and your content is purchased both the puppy series and the shed dog series videos still a learning process. WE'RE FORTUNATE TO PICK UP OUR LEXI girl at nine weeks old I'm working primarily unsteady her down at feeding time simple commands. At this time we're also working on Kennel training and she's been doing really well with accidents in the house. My question is am I expecting too much too soon. She's really struggling at nipping and biting and seems zero interest in any kind of retrieving. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. So I messaged back and said I won't be too worried about retrieves my dogs at that age. Get One one two three retrieves per week in the hallway. Your message, I think if your message me about these concerns at this point. Yes, you're probably expecting too much. Remember. This puppies is nine weeks old. Right so it says you're. You're probably expecting too much. It takes time simply settle into routine. Your job is to find the rhythm in comfort. The PUP and you'll see results. Follow Nipping and biting is typically a handler issue. Not The pups establish yourself as. As a leader and don't set the pup up for opportunities, nipping biting behavior doesn't have the chance to form, so he said thanks for your response time to slow down a bit and let be a pup I. Think now I responded back, I, said let her be a pop with a good leader. There's a big difference in being patient and letting them do their own thing. Keep that in mind. So, that was an. As I'm thinking about it. That's exactly what I think. I should have said like that would have been my response I. Think yes, you're you probably have unrealistic expectations to be looking for a lot out of the nine week. Old Pup I also think the answer is not just let them be a pup, unless let them be I. I don't like when people say that. Because I know what people think. We'll just let them do whatever they want to do. Know you're going to create major issues that way we want to form good habits. The idea of nipping and biting comes from probably a simple thing, maybe holding on. How does the puppy bite you if you if you can't get your hands? So if you're putting your hands down in her mouth, and she's biting that you. You're upset because right in that you. Whose fault is it? You put your hands down by the mall, so don't do that if it's biting chewing on stuff in your house. There's two issues there. The stuff is. Available for to get, and she's available to get it, so it's the fix place during. What's the pick your stuff up? Simple simple fixes that don't that aren't so and they're not like super intense, and they're not super formal and I'm not saying you need to do this this and this training session. I'm seeing just set yourself up for success. Create a playground. That's dummy proof. And, so the dummy proof part is not the dog, so you know the dog is very natural at this point in quite honestly I want to tap into that natural part in. This is an extreme. We're talking nine weeks old. This is an extreme I think you gotta get the dog settled in and not pooping and peeing in your house, so. Now. One month goes by so it's May seventh, so may seventh picture back may thirteenth I message. He said to me she really likes to tempt me on her place, and he's got a picture of her coming off the place. So okay. That's a simple fix. Focus on it anticipate it. Read the body language and when the puck goes to. Jump off. We correct that's a timing issue so now. That's more mechanical, so you do have to understand mechanics because if you try to train a dog with the wrong timing, you absolutely can't do it because the dog doesn't understand what the training is doesn't understand. Any of the corrections doesn't understanding the praise. We correct them their wrongly prison when they're right. They'll do anything in between. That's really simple for a dog to understand, but if you're timing is off. In your correcting the wrong time appraising at the wrong time, the behavior is going to be affected. Accordingly. It's not it's out. It's it's not gonNA work so. Got A message. Was Curious what your take is dogs that have zero response to praise I. DON'T WANNA bribe with treats, but it seems that the only response I can get as I'm working on basic stuff I try to I. Try an over praise her. I've gone through every level of praise in her reaction stays the same zero cares. Simple tasks have getting back in the house from the bathroom is struggle as she will sit and literally look at me for as long as I let her as I approach, it becomes a game for a second, and she usually jumps away I before following me into the house. I met at crossroads, wanting to progress into training. Our training but I just feel like she doesn't want to move forward. She's at fourteen weeks old and has yet to make a successful retrieve with countless tries. She will hold until I release her to be super excited on her way to pick to it. Pick it up. Bring it halfway back. Sit and chew on it. I was curious in your advice what I can do to help her progress. Thanks so much content looking forward to your response. It's going to be a podcast. That'd be sending you an email. So, let's circle back on this. It's been a month. You were stressed out at nine weeks with some of the foundational stuff now you're stressed out fourteen weeks and it sounds like it's about that. This is my takeaway reading it. I just feel like she doesn't want to move forward. I met a crossroads in our training. In wanting to progress into I, might add to crossroads with with wanting to progress in our training. You can want all you want. If. You're prepared if you're not prepared. In, the dog isn't ready. It doesn't matter how bad you want it. Like desire to train, a dog doesn't count. I always tell people some. You have more passion, you know. Kids get getting into sports. Gabby really passionate about the reason is because there's a lot of sacrifice. Here's a lot of sacrifice of your free time. There's a lot of sacrifice when it comes to effort. It's it's just you gotta have a big desire. In order to make the type of commitment, you need in order to accelerate sports. Desire. In so desire is one thing the doing it as another, so you can have the most desire in the world to be a college basketball player. You can can be your want number one obsession. You can work really hard. You can go and you can do a lot of practice. If you don't. have skills and talent. Regardless of how hard you work in regardless of how much desire you have, it's not gonNa work now. The desire in the hard work can overcome a lot of shortfalls, but Let's be honest. There's a lot of kids that really want to do it. They worked very hard. But they can't physically do it. And there's a lot of it, so there's three parts of that puzzle and you can't really do it. You can't do it with two out of three or one out of three. Well when it comes to this dog, you might really want to do it. You might be working really hard, but if you're mechanics, aren't there? Second to work because you're mechanics. If the dogs talents not there not gonna work nine percent of the time, it's not the dogs talent. It's our mechanics in our understanding of train that gets in the way so. Here's the thing, and sometimes with this sometimes the desire and the Trans, the transfer of desire to execution like you're trying sometimes when it comes to dogs, this is difference dogs and people. The desire might be there sounds like you've got the work might be. There sounds like you're doing it. The dogs just be ready. In no matter how hard you work, and how bad you want it, you can't get a dog mature. You can't like. We can't can't work hard again. Dog Mature. It won't work. So? Let's go back in the start breaking it down because I got a feeling. It's probably a combination of three things. That that is creating the issue. A dog that zero response to praise, that's impossible. It's impossible I mean. In your opinion, maybe it is I'm I'd be willing to bet. You're on. Dogs respond some respond differently in some. Don't it depends? What are your expectations? This goes back expectations before we were talking about your expectations in. Are you expecting too much probably? Are you expecting too much? When it comes to praise, equally change in behavior it has to. There is no dog out there. That doesn't respond one way or another in some fashion. When it comes to praise or pressure, they all do it's just what do you pick up on like I? Tell my I don't try to overpay so one of the things here you said is. It's funny. 'cause they use your exact words. It says as I'm working on basic stuff I. Try and over praise. Her I don't over praise. I don't want to There's no reason to overpay praise. If you over praise, you create a loss of. The the information being actually truly absorbed because you get dogs spun up so over praising. That's my definition of over praising your over. Praising might be completely different definition you're over. Praising might be I'm getting too loud or squier. Excited or whatever? I don't know what it is. But. I don't over praise and I wouldn't recommend you over crazy that I recommend just enough praise. To get the dog to understand. In? Have the concept sinking. So at times when dogs do things for the first time in, they're very challenging. You know I probably give them more praise then to make sure they understand. That's what we want. In the beauty of dogs is they're just wired to make happy. The that's all they WANNA. Do is please us. So it's getting them to understand what pleases us. It's also getting them to understand what we don't like to try to curtail or defer some of that behavior and so. In this situation I'm looking at him going you're getting. There is response I don't know I don't know if your timing is very good. I got a quick question your timing. As curious you take a dog that zero spot response to praise I think you're struggling to read the dog probably to. You know if you if you don't think the dog has any response, you're probably missing it one way or the other before or after so that's probably part of it now I. Don't WanNa bribe with treats, but it seems to be the only I only response can get so I'm not against the idea of using what works I am against the idea of bribery, and you use the word bribe sumptuous. Listen to the content before so you're right. I don't want it to be I, don't. Don't want to be something that is driven by food I wanted to be driven by behavior, but if you watch back, some of our stuff, I'll use kibble I'll use the dog's food itself real early on in some situations recall is one of them where I get a dog to come to me and understand that I'll give them a little piece of food when they get to me, I phase it out pretty quickly. I also use that to teach dogs to go into their kennels. Phase it. Out Pretty quickly. Sit I know I've used it for some young dogs for for using the SIP command I phase out pretty quickly. So. Don't be stubborn to the idea of I. Don't want to train with treats, so I'm not gonNA use treats I'm not treat trainer I. Don't I. Don't I don't paint myself with that brush where the fanny pack. But There are some people say you used treats this this and this. You just said it. Yes, I do I. Don't consider myself driven as a primary trainer. I had some people say you know you you don't use a collar and you're. You're saying you would never use that, but you use pressure. Yes, I. Do I'm not saying. I'm not a pressure trainer. I'm not seeing a hundred percent positive trainer I'm not. Saying. Listen to our last podcast where we talked about, we talked about some pretty deep lot deeper stuff I don't know why. I have to feel like it'd be painted with into this group of your this or you're that you can't be both. A I can I can. I can be and I don't and I don't and I won't tell you that. I'm sticking to just this because I'm gonNA. Do here's what I'm GonNa do I'm GonNa. Do what I think is best. To, get the dog to understand what we're trying to accomplish in a fair way. I think that's that's where I tried to be. That's the style a trainer I am so. I don't there is no dog bone way. There's no like this is the way the document we do it. No I do it a lots of different ways and it. It's dictated by the dog. It's dictated by me. It's dictated by a lot of variables so. You're it says as I'm working on basic stuff over appraisers. Don't don't do that doesn't make any sense. I've gone through every level of praise in her reaction stays the same again I, think it's an issue with reading the Dog You might want to send me a video. It'd be. It will help me. I'll put it in my message to you. It will probably help me understand it a little bit more Zero cares again I disagree. I think you're just not picking up on them. simple simple tastic. You're back in the house and the bathroom is a struggle. She'll sitting literally. Look at me for as long as I let her okay. So then what? What's the next move? So you're at fourteen weeks and if you watch in our puppy training video. I don't know if it said you had videos or not, but puppy training videos. We talk about developing. Recall your past that window. That that was a couple of weeks ago and so if it didn't get established then and now you've got the bold little fourteen week old that says I don't think I'm gonNA come anymore. Decided I've decided there's things over here that I'd rather go. Look it now. I'm going to put the dog and lead to go to the bathroom decided. We're GONNA. Go in I. Bring the dog back into. The lead can't sit there and do a stare off with me. Can't run off when I make a decision on what I'm GONNA do so. So again set yourself up for success minimize opportunities to fail no different when your dog was nipping biting and chewing on you set yourself up for success. Don't form habit so that might be part of it. The other part of it is what do you do at that moment? When the dog sits down and says I don't want to go in, and you wanted to go in. Do you go towards the dog to get it and get it to come back? In which kind of sounds like is happening and then it prompts A. game for a as it becomes a game for second. Then she usually jumps away I before I following me into the house. You're getting into the house. So that sounds positive, but you're getting in her. She's jumping away from you, so you might look at doing is instead of going to her. Get down and call her back. Call her to you. I mean there's five thousand different things you could do at that moment. It's a matter of what do you. What do you try what works? What doesn't work and then you adjust accordingly fourteen weeks old. We talked about that. Very very moldability at that point she'll now. We're talking about retrieving. Now getting into these retrieves so success. Fourteen weeks and has yet to make a successful retrieve after countless tries want you to watch live of spry. Live with Sprang. We're going to have some people walking one second. Live of spry is a video that I did a series and she didn't make her choose eight months old so eight months old is thirty two weeks, so get more. You got eighteen more weeks of just to catch up to me in spry. Don't feel bad. You'll get there, but what I would do is I would take a break from it in regroup. And I'd try to work on the stuff that is foundational and we'll help you with all the other stuff that to me is more important, easy girls. So says it says she'll hold until I release her super excited on the way, pick it up. Bring it back halfway sitting. Chew on. It stopped doing it. Just stop doing it. And then what do you do when the dog sits and choose on it? You know I get down and I. Call caller to me. She doesn't come to attorney and I walk away from her. So I don't know what you're. You're getting. It sounds like you're getting situations and then almost locking up or freezing. And when you lock up and freeze. What do you do that? So. There are so many little parts to these that are linked, so I think that's the biggest thing is. Try something different. It's not working. Don't be afraid I. We did a whole we did. Hold session with Bela today. That was very different than what we had been doing, and I made a point of saying you know what if you look back on all of our old videos? You're GonNa find me where I say. Don't go for go forward until it's perfect in this phase. You WanNa make perfect it and. And then today said you know what we're going to go ahead and we're going to allow for some sloppiness. When you because we change the scenario, we started to pave the road ahead watched the Belot Watch I. Think this guy. I'm going to send you a message from also gonNA. Say Watch this episode of Bella, be good, which is whole conditioning day I'm not sure what it is, but. That will that whole message about paving the road ahead and allowing the behavior change accordingly in those situations will apply to this. Be Flexible not rigid. Be Okay, with the idea of. Changing things up a little bit. Don't look for one. Fix like one situation setup fixes. There's no problem that I can give you the for sure answer to. Because the dogs are the variable, and they're all a little bit different, and then you add in the people, the handlers. They're the variable, and they're all a little bit different. There's so many varieties issue in things that can come up to create issues or fix issues. So. I hope that helps you send you a message. It probably starts a conversation in your mind where you go okay, I try this and this and this. And what if that doesn't work? My hope is to not get people. Dependent on the idea of up, something came up. Send Message Jeremy. With our best they can, but you'll never get further along as a trainer. If every time something happens you lock up and get on your phone and send me an email. I have issues. Come up all the time and I look at it and I assess it from a big picture, and try to boil it down to one of the issues, and then when I find out what those issues are I back them up and I try to fix one one at a time. Fix them problems one at a time. Fix the ones that need to be fixed first because I've helped me get to the next one. And then the next one I fixed that one and the next, and then we work forward. There's gotta be some. There's gotta be some flexibility with you. To understand that there is some trial and error, because no two dogs of the same. Hope that helps you guys I. appreciate it. We're GONNA. The girls just got home. You probably heard them coming in now. Millions wanting to be heard a little bit as well so we're going to wrap it up. It's good another twenty minute another couple. There's a good links I like these little bit shorter. Ones Thank you for the support. Thank you for the help. Thank you for the following on this If you could share it with someone that you think it might help, that's all I. Ask share it with someone that you think these might help. Appreciate it. We'll keep doing them.

Retrieving With Puppy: Where, When, and How to Start | Ep: #32
"Welcome back. I want to thank you guys for following along listening to our podcast. We're up to number thirty two. We just kinda wrapped up <hes> we've had some. We've had miscellaneous projects going good stuff to in. One of them was aero aero. We did a couple podcasts. Okay s. on hero. We did a bunch of training videos that are slowly getting posted on our youtube page. They're gonna be posted on our facebook page. <hes> <hes> snippets will be on instagram. We'll be doing someone instagram t._v. Shannon in as many places as we can because we do realize that it seems like just everybody consume stuff a little bit differently in different spots and so that's why i thank you for listening to this podcast because we kicked around on the podcast idea for quite a while and are glad we're doing it <hes> it's it's really <hes> it's almost i'll go so far seen almost inspiring when we get messages back from people that say hey. I'm listening. All your podcast really like your podcast. <hes> that that is that means a lot means an awful lot a lot to us so i thank you for that. <hes> we're this this so arrow. <hes> we're going to probably do another podcast on arrow air went home this last weekend. <hes> it was awesome. We had a great visit with her family. Her owners <hes>. I'm really excited to see <hes> where they go from here. I'm also really excited to say. We're going to stay with them through the process <hes> but we're going to do it a little bit differently. We're gonna almost do it long distance distance <hes> remotely so it won't be <hes>. It won't be the way we would expect her where we would where we've done it historically you were someone sends their dog and i had their dog or have their dogs. Since it was the beginning we trained through this one's gonna be they live away and it's it's very similar to <hes> several people that we've mess developed relationships with a never met <hes> we just do it through instagram or facebook facebook or combination of different platforms and work with and help get through some of the struggles that they're going. They're having maybe with their dogs whether they're young pups or just getting started or further down the road <hes> so this is going to be a good example of it but we're documented <hes> and so it's i like the value well you of that because that then it can be shared <hes> over time in more and more people will be able to <hes> get value out of it so that's our plan <hes>. It's a it's a in an ongoing evolution here with us so but back to so podcasts for thirty two this this one we're going to do. It's a message that i got. It was a direct message that i got in. It was interesting question in summit. Read it to start out with so this is this is someone who's been who has followed. Our stuff is what they said. We follow follow your stuff. We really enjoy the content that you're putting out. There says we've had a litter puppies. Originally we were going to keep two of them. Although you said it was was extremely hard so they had heard me in the past. I've talked about i've kept litter mates before <hes> ellie is litter mate <hes> elian kimber elliott's as a dog capped <hes> one of our one of our family dogs here but i trained her sister at the same time so they were they were here together. They were litter mates cody had had her brother tito here. Those dogs were litter mates. I've done it throughout the year or throughout the years now <hes> drop tying a while back. I had her and i had a sister of hers named remmy. I've done multiple puppies out of the same litter <hes>. I like sometimes doing that with with certain dogs because a lot of times i in the past. I've kept one myself so there's i find myself doing it with certain genetics but either way what whatever the reason you're doing it would be two puppies either the same age or close to the same. The edge is a hell of a lot of work and so i just i've cautioned that over the years and so she is re referencing although he said it was extremely hard i do say it is hard because the part of the reason i think it is so hard is because it's like you're training. You're literally doubling your work because you cannot work those dogs together. You're in you cannot work them. <hes> so what whatever i can work at a younger dog i can work with an older dog because i have control role of the older dog and if i have control the older dog i think there are cultural impacts. That will be positive if i don't have a hundred percent control and i mean really really good control. Well behaved dogs with puppies that are not as well behaved because they're not as mature and they're just not. There's not as far along along those. If you get two of those together they snowball in the wrong direction very quickly <hes> they lose lose any control because now there's two out of control dogs instead of one that is easier to kind of real back in so i'm just i think it's really hard to do. I only only do it when it's absolutely necessary. <hes> we get way behind in deposits. <hes> you know we're out about three years right now with deposits and so that i don't like getting out that far but i have come to this point where i said you know what i'm not going to sacrifice this quality to speed things up so it's been a couple years now that i've decided to do that and so that that's kind of the way we we go. We're just just don't take a lot of dogs on at the same time close in age spreading them out. It's amazing what spreading about three months we'll do. That's a huge difference when you start talking about a five month puppy because when you get on there about two months old so if you start talking about three months of foundation into puppy and then another one you've got a five month with old in a <hes> starting over from scratch seventy eight week old and when you have that it's a night and day difference. I still don't think the five-month-old is mature enough that you can work it with the little puppy but by five months five six months. I've got the dogs on lead and so i've got good control on lead so i can go out. Which is what we did recently this last week. We doubled up. We had arrow here who is five months old. We had this little puppy bella. Oh come in belo was when we got her here. She was fourteen or fifteen weeks old so for a week there. I had these dogs that were about a month apart there about four four or five weeks. Apart and arrow was far enough along that we put her on a ledin ever under control in that little puppy would run around and create problems in if i had didn't have air on a lead i couldn't have them together but i've had i put her on lead and we're finding the other dogs in need on lead because i just tell him to sit down and they weren't gonna mess around with the puppy so so it's a dynamic that you have to be very careful of within your pack <hes> so i got way off way off line on that but anyway so let's start over the little puppies originally. We're gonna keep to allow. You said it was extremely hard. We soon realized you were right and sold one <hes> we have we now oh have one. She's fourteen weeks old doing fabulous on almost everything creates wonderfully sits stays on place <hes> the other morning. She put herself on place. We're trying hard to follow all your training advice. She loves to fetch and get so excited but she doesn't want to bring back to us. She wants to get about one to two feet from us. I think it's because we had her litter mate longer and they were just run around and play chase and you can't take in. You can't take this stick away from me game. I feel she's just scared. We're going to take it away from her. It's beyond frustrating. What should we do. Thanks thanks for your advice so so. I think <hes> you're right. I think it probably started with a bad habit of chase. Keep away whatever you wanna. Call it <hes> the last thing i would ever recommend for anybody so this so this starts fourteen weeks old. It's only been six weeks since you took it away from mom and dad <hes> <hes> would have separated and kind of dropped it into your pack <hes> and it sounds like the foundation is going well so first off i think continue we knew that the retrieving part of it so then then i gave her i gave her. I said you know i do think it's a great podcast gas topic. I've got a puppy and right now. It's that we're just starting to document. I'm talking about bella kind of summarizing my answer back to were we. This puppy is the opposite that i have here. She's got just a wonderful. Natural retrieved wants to pick stuff up and bring it back to me. Constantly wants to hold onto it with when when she gets close to me you can hear in the background scratching kennel bit right now that's about as it's about as excited as she she gets and i don't want jinx but so far we've. We've been really lucky <hes> but anyway one of the things that that i i think is important to recognize is the age of the dog. It's fourteen weeks old. I the last thing i'm worried worried about with puppies is typically retrieving because it's their last name i mean labrador retriever golden retriever retrievers retrieve and so but the delivery isn't always polished and so that is something that we have to work on but what i think is interesting is is one of the things she says is <hes> i. I also answered back. There and i said stop like that's. That's my recommendation to stop. Stop retrieving. I also told her that was talking about it in a podcast in more depth so that's where we're kind of getting into this but i think the easy answer. The quick answer was stop retrieving. You're having lots of problems with it. It's becoming very frustrating and and you're not breaking through so it goes back to this idea of when you run into a bump in this could be anything. It doesn't have to be the just the specific when you run into anything with your training. If you're <unk> having problems i think some people metallic imagine it's a road and there's a brick wall across the road so some people will say there's a brickwall in the road. I must go through it so they put their head down. They just start ramming into it and let's just bull our way through it. Let's knock our way through this wall aw and so. I think that's foolish. I think you're gonna get hurt. I think it's it's it doesn't make sense. It's it's this silly to think that that's how you should get through it. I think what what i prefer is. Stop backup. Take a look around and maybe there's a door to the the right or left but you gotta go off the road to get there so i think that when it comes to running into problems with your dog training it's like that's your brick wall so first things first to stop. There's no reason that you have to get through. You're not in a rush. None of this stuff fourteen weeks old man. I <hes> you just not in a rush i think when i started out talking about some of the projects and we were sharing stuff and all that and we're different people are consuming information. One of the things that i think doc is been. Maybe some of the most <hes> valid information. Maybe some of the most useful information for most people is live with spry inspires the dog that we trained and we basically live on facebook and it was really raw when we didn't have you know i did it with my phone but the information was valuable and so if you watch the entire live with spray series and i think these people have watched it because i i remember him being involved asking questions and getting involved with the actual live with spreads that we were doing. I think you'll find that <hes> spry hi didn't make retrieve so she was eight months old eight months or thirty two weeks so you got a fourteen gold. The last thing you want to do is start to be panicking or becoming frustrated and you mentioned it to. You said that you know your husband gets frustrated doesn't want want her picking up on that yeah exactly because she's going to like the just shut down so you know what it just. Stop in. Wait a while work on something else now. I don't say stop. Don't do anything i mean. Stop and work on something else focus on something else. Just forget about retrieving for a while <hes> <hes> but i i also think that you got to now look at it and go and you've already have already kind of assessed. It reversed engineered the whole thing and you said i i think it might have something to do with these two dogs carry and stuff around and chasing each other and playing keep away in playing <hes> runoff and all that stuff of course so what i think is is important is to understand that little habits like that put in early on they stick for awhile you'll have now you have to train something out before we can train something back in <hes> so that's that's just not really efficient but your position you're in so what i would do is if the pub doesn't wanna wanna come to you. There's a couple of different things you could do. When you start retrieving again. I find something that the pope likes to hold onto longer still let fourteen weeks old. They have pretty good little needle teeth <hes> you were saying something about let me see. She stops one to two feet away from us. I and i don't think that means she's probably not dropping. It probably playing come. Get me so what i what i like to do is <hes> set yourself up for success excessive depending on wherever you're doing this training <hes> make it so that there's only a few options. I like hallways. Hallways with doors closed <hes>. There's there's no where for the dog to go. There's no other stuff in the hallway. It's mean them. I'm on one end there. On the other. I throw the thing down there. They go get it. Whatever it is and i don't care what it is when they got the little puppy teeth like using socks and the socks get stuck in their teeth and it's just hard for spit it out but so whatever it is <unk> as they come to you. Here's your setup situation. You gotta leave yourself some space because if the puck comes back to you in what i would do is physically i'd get right down. <hes> i'd get down on the ground. Get down on my knees. Get real welcoming want them to hurry into me. Get to me but if they don't or they come so close listen they stop and it's a standoff. I turn around and i leave. I go the other way and it. It's very surprising them because they're expecting you to show a lot of attention to them and want to come. Get them. Nope screw you. I'm leaving and also go. No no no wait. Wait wait their turn and start to come to you and when you when you see that in the corner and you see him coming that's when you can really say your girl your google and how good she is and she goes off this. This makes them happy and what is she doing. At that moment. She's coming to you so then you can get down real slow. Don't i think i think a lot of times when dogs come running back to us people get tense and they almost get into what i call an athletic stance and they start to look like they gotta catch the dog when it comes in because they're they're just that's the feeling in its body. Language is really clear to a dog. He's getting tense. He's going to tackle me and so i don't i don't get. I don't want to get real herky-jerky. Want him be real. Fast moving. I may i want to i'm going to be real smooth with and get down real slowly and real soothing in real soft and tell them how good she is in just calm her down now because rarely do i see dogs that are to call him. I've got one right. Now is just as sweet and calms can be bella a little puppy that we're starting <hes> mm-hmm. I love it. I mean i've had to search a while to get that genetic trait and i've got it so far and i'm loving it but but i do think it's i do think it's now do i can. I get her excited. Absolutely i can <hes> some of these dogs. These days are just so oh hot. They're just so full of energy. It's hard. It's much much harder for me to slow them down in in his speed them up and i hear ninety nine percent of the people here talking about stuff like this or i talked to their biggest concern is that their dog got enough drive and i smile inside because i don't wanna be jerk about it but i smile inside nato. You have no clue. Your dog has way more than you'll ever need but we all want this big big drive. No no i don't i. I've never not once been doing long time. I've never had a dog that i couldn't get excited. Never and i mean that's the one dog that i struggled with to get retrieves. It was it was he was old. <hes> it was like nine years old and it was a a hound some type of a hound and we wanted to try yeah to get that dog retrieving and it was a tracking dog like a really accomplished tracking dog certified through the roof <hes> used for for tracking people. We struggled to get that dog to retrieve but we found a little toy that he liked in his owner was going to work on it with with this toy and figure out a way to just get the dog to try to figure out that it's it's not that bad. It's kind of a fun game. That's it so so when you start talking and so the dog wasn't even retriever but when you start that's the one i can remember. I went man and i wish i had had a little more time with dog and i think i would have figured it out but nobody that i know has a dog. That doesn't have it in them. <hes> we i usually create too much excitement and then we lose control and so. I just think that you have to be real careful. I don't think they want want the end there. She says you know at least at least she has a huge desire to fetch yeah and it's not it's not surprising to me <hes> most most of the dogs will and so. I think that is good that she has that desire to fetch. I wouldn't be rewarding it that much right now. You bella cabello retrieves like champ. I mean like i'm gonna show you some video we should we did film. We filmed the first retrieves. We've done on it. I've done it twice since we did. Her first retrieves so in and we did it two times this weekend on saturday. We had a party. We were with some friends and we made. I think we made three retrieves there. <hes> i just wanted to show her off a little bit so i showed her to some friends of mine that are that are actually part of our trainers team and the i said you guys got to see this. I had full standard sized bumper in this little dog went out and picked it. I never never would have done that with spry wanted done it with most dogs but in the end quite honestly the only reason i'm doing it with her because she's shown me that she loves to she she picks up sandals left and right and i turn around and she's bringing him to my feet and holding onto me now. That's the other thing is is once you get these dogs retrieving so once. This dog starts to once you figure out how to get the dog back to you. The last thing you wanna do is take it away from him. I don't take any thing away from my dogs quickly. Weekly i want to encourage them to hold onto it and and when i do take from them i give it right back to them so i go in and out in and out in and out of the mouth with a dummy with the stock with the ball whatever it is take it away from them and then give it back to them and then she having give it back to you and then give it back to to them and give it back to you and so don't get this mentality of as soon as it goes to him. It's gone or her. It's gone get it from namen. Give it back. Get it from them. Give it back. Give it from them. Give it back give it. I get it from them. Give them a different one. You know i've i've seen that done recently. I've have tried it a little bit myself and i. I don't mind it <hes>. I i don't run into a huge. I typically don't run into a huge problem with delivery and it comes with it comes from because early on i don't create those problems so when little puppies pick stuff up which this dog has a real tendency to pick stuff up but even arrow when narrow pick stuff up and she wasn't much of a natural retriever but we're getting her to retrieve and the way we're doing it was when she would pick stuff up we figured adat away to get her back to us and then we praised her for it and then we maybe then we took it out of her mouth but then we give it back to her so we're back and forth with with whatever it is and that sticks that's <hes> garbage. It's it's any i mean i've not. I've not seen this house without shoes sitting sitting around in some time like and i'm guilty of it. I'm the one that's usually leaving mine around but my sandals my shoes anything like that in the last. Ask three or four days you ha- you don't see laying around and it's because i know what's going to happen. Bellas going to pick them up and she's going to bring him to you and that's okay but i i don't want. I don't want that habit forming of picking up my shoes. I don't want to have to run the risk of her picking it up in deciding maybe it is more funder runaway right now. She wants to bring them to me. So let's let's wait until we have controlled environments in we can work on these formal formalizing the training to put stuff into her mouth and let's not do a lot of it. That's the other thing i was going to just talking about. You know we made those trees on saturday. I think i i know we did less than ten retrieves and ten days because i only did it three days. I did two two and two and three so that's seven. We're under ten retrieves and seven days and it's because she does it. These people that sent this message. At least we know she has a huge desert fetch so don't worry about it anymore. She it's in there. You don't need bringing hope. You don't need to burn. You don't need to risk losing it. You don't need to risk burn. 'em him out. You don't need to risk bad habits. Starting <hes> which is which is what you've got a little bit of going but you can fix it. Just take a break from it though and and then when you decide you're going to go back to it. Figure out the plan to ensure you. Don't have issues set an and love that can be just your setups but once you get them in once you get it. What are you gonna do then be ready. I like the idea the of bringing the dog in petting the underside of their chest petting the underside of their chin leaving that thing in their mouth as long as they'll hold it. I take take it out before. I think they're going to drop it eventually. Sometimes they get bored with it and they wanna drop it. I don't want him dropping it without me. I'd like to be there and so early on that's what we wanna imprint and if you do that by the time they get to five six <hes> you know they're they're gonna. They're gonna start teething so the other thing in two is you've got to be careful with teething you're probably a little early yet but pretty quick start teething then you're done retrieving your resume for month so <hes> until they're done teething so after they're done teething and we start retrieving again then i might make a few retrieves before we so you know we we think about hold conditioning. I start ten to twelve months usually but it's because i don't usually have problems usually at eight eight nine ten months. They're delivering really nicely if i've done what i needed to do early on i don't really worry too much about sloppy deliveries because <hes> they're they're delivering pretty well. The the hold conditioning goes really fast because we're just sharpen things up. The shape is there. We just polish russia so i hope that helps keep me posted. We've messaged we can message back and forth but <hes> <hes> i think it was more of a there was more to the answer than just <hes> then me typing it back. I think can get into it a little bit deeper or this way and i wanted to do it because i do think a lot of people run into these problems. I just wrote an article about the key to the key to unlocking retrievers this delivery. It's it's not retrieved. They retrieve naturally. It's delivery and delivery needs to be good solid and so so just wrote an article for badger sportsman on that so this is this piggybacks off of that perfectly so that's it man thirty two number thirty thirty. Two podcast is done. Thank you so much for listening and thank you for all your support. If you do the favor i ask every time and i don't want like a broken record but it is really important to us. Five minutes after the second and final hour of the week here and man football friday just rock and roll an excellent first hour. We heard from a head coach. Steve adagio on the border war victory. Manny sounded tired though. I can't imagine. I bet they i left at eleven. I would imagine he didn't get to sleep until who knows me knows head coaches. I would imagine their brains are constantly going on. So yeah what a what a win last night. Now we look to the weekends and it's starting to get interesting here and joining me now. But all we had broncos really and now you know last night we get a recap something. We've got a couple of previews locally so yeah starting to feel somewhat normal i guess yeah somewhat although i do use the term that people like throw around. I'm cautiously optimistic. You know especially as we see new coming up this hour. That utah and arizona is cancelled two pac twelve guinean out of the six that are cancelled now so Until they actually lineup. And i'm actually at a stadium watching football teams out there in front of me. I'm not gonna get too excited. Yeah so what do you know about the arizona. Utah situation and again cancel you. We're not put. We're not really postponing these games. Ri- word worked. Just cancelling them. They're they're done right. Yeah they have. The patch didn't have any window of opportunity to reschedule. So i think these these guys are just done but It sounds like this one. Was you know the cow situation's different because that was one positive face that a group that was quarantined that per county rules. They went on allowed to participate and so there was salt lake. It's you know. The cases are so high out there the other half of that game so i don't think it's more of an issue on the team as it is in the in the community there. So it's it's certainly going to be an issue. Cases are rising all around. And we'll see what happens with getting these games in. Yeah and i know Here here locally for us. Brian we were. We were slated to do some do a high school football game in fort collins and of course. We're we're getting news. We're kind of waiting on some of that right now but getting news more and more high school football games are being are being canceled or or maybe talks rescheduling at this point. Yeah like really central. Scancen games and Yeah it's it's a week to week and kind of a a day thing and so We'll see as of right now the buster scheduled to play ucla tomorrow and And that that long drought of no no football and no competition at all so. I'm hoping it happens. We'll see if it does it's It's so crazy brian. Before the before the rams game against fresno state you know it just didn't seem real to me it was. I don't really know what to expect. You know who really cares this. Just watch the football game and enjoy it. I you know whoever wins and lose once you actually get into the game a much. Different kind of feels like okay. We're watching football again. And now we want to see this team. Make some noise in their conference. I kind of feel the same way about c. You like you said until we see them out on the field. It's hard for me to start building a base this season about what to expect with with new coach. Karl terrell and company. Yeah and you know we kind of every year we go in and say well. We think they're gonna be this and then you never know like this year. It's really hard to tell what his team going to be like. And i you know for me. I sort of have the perspective that you mentioned right before that. I i she games. I just wanna watch football But at some point see us gotta start showing You know we're we're making progress as a program things like that but as of right now i think the just let's get on the field and then just see what kind of product we have here under karl Strange season already So you need your leaders. You need your guys. Your performer saw a tough blow with running with the running back situation with alex. Fong no out for this game for sure. A few games. Maybe the rest of the season we do. How much do we know about that. Brian not much Carlson pretty tight lipped on what we do know. He's out this game and when we asked him about it they wouldn't say what. The injury is but He basically said you know. We're hope to have them ready. That's the season we're getting ready for next year. So that tells me that you know. It's very possible he doesn't play this year. I mean it is only the season's over in six weeks right hasn't started yet. It's over in six weeks so that's not very much time to get healed Certainly not like twelve thirteen or fourteen weeks like a normal season so that window of opportunity is is less usually as and so you know. I don't know we'll see him or not this week for sure. Yeah talk to us a bit about about. The quarterback situation was sam. Neue earning the job. that transition back to the quarterback position safety. I i think that's such an intriguing story. I mean i'm curious to see how it works out but i always like seeing. I think it's fun. You know seeing a position player changed positions but especially agai changing from a certain position on defense to the quarterback position. Yeah it's interesting you know. He's such a unique situation that he's really. Oh i've seen something out great. We have a safety plan quarterback. Well not really. You really had a quarterback trying to year so now he was a quarterback his whole life and It was really. I think when tucker made that move last year. I think it was more of the facts that you need it. Some death to safety than it was and and a diamond on your quarterback you know the bus were set with stephen mantegazza blake. I'm so they were okay. But they didn't have any depth safety and so You know here's a very good athlete. And they said well. We think he can do this. So it was kind of a natural was get on the feeling kodak anyway and now i mean. He said he kept throwing throughout the season. So he's never lost that but now he's backing quarterbacking. The kind of where he's very. Yeah we'll see how that one plays out for sure. I'm curious to see 'cause obviously going to need. Need help from his tight. Ends is wide receivers. Katie nixon. Returning thirty five receptions four hundred sixty five yards three touchdowns brady russell expecting some big things from him. So there's gonna be some pressure on them early on with sam kind of get readjusted and then the running back situation. You gotta feel this pressure on unproven guys like nixon russell. I think so. And i don't feel running back to. They have good talent. they're they're pretty deep even without finding now so they could be okay. I think the offensive line is more talented than deepen. It's been a long time. So i think there's people rab can help him. But certainly you want katie. Nixon daniel dmitri stanley guys like that stepping up and helping them out. I would imagine they're going to try to do some kinda short path. News things like that to get sam dolan but But we'll see how he needs those guys album out. Yeah talking to us brian. hal from the Co buffer zone Look at this game this weekend. Against between you and ucla. How about the defensive side though. Brian i don't you expect i mean with so many returning star starters and stars quite frankly this you defense should be pretty good this season. Yeah i think so. And statistically they would last year but they've got a lot better season along and they've got. I think it's sixteen guys. The played at least two hundred sixty snaps coming back plus their defensive coordinator so i liked the piece that has. I'm not sure they're going to be you. Know the best defense in the pac twelve but they can be a top half of the pack twelve deputy cents and then play a lot better than they do last year if they do that. That's going to take some pressure off of neue and lilos. He plays as well. Yeah no question about it Expecting big things. From of course nate landman and mustafa johnson. I said things chip kelly. You know he's known for this high powered offense all the time but we haven't really seen that since the since he got to over to the. Ucla doesn't quite have the athletes that he had up at oregon It's been a slow go. They've only seven games in two years. You i'm not expecting a big turnaround for ucla this year. They do have a good quarterback enduring. It sounds around so they have a couple of nice players on offense but you know a lot of holes on defense. Got some holes on offense. And i just don't see a great team. Yeah but their quarterback your third year starter. So that's always dangerous and could be a big factor in this game. Yeah complete opposite of where where the buffs are right. They have their guy. They're established guy so Who do you give the nod to this. One brian again. I know this This time is very difficult more so than ever to make predictions. But what do you think well you know. This is a year where allow people are not optimistic. You know but it hasn't dampened mine. I'm going to try to stay optimistic. The i i don't think either team is great but i think the soggy and the edge being at home knows no crowd I think they win. Kind of a slugfest. Twenty seven twenty three twenty seven twenty three. I like brian appreciate. Hey what are you working on. Getting some pre-game stuff for us throughout the weekend that we can check out as we get set for the buffs game stuff. I'm not getting these guys ready for the game. And then just kind of looking at the match between the boston bruins and the women's basketball join as well right now. We have not for me are also comes as well. 'cause they're they're not ready to start to their like couple of weeks away so you know. It's an unusual start after this year. Yeah no it's it's hard to track everything because some football teams have played a good chunk of their schedule summer. Just starting and then you've got basketball right around the corner it's gonna be fun to To track and of course you have to wonder. Will there won't they. You know who's gonna actually play throughout the course of the week. So yeah it's it's all very interesting. Yes it is and we'll see if there's a game tomorrow and and if there's a seven game this year i don't know we'll find out brian appreciate you man and we'll talk to you. We'll we'll check out your stuff this weekend. we'll light. We'll hope to catch up with you next week. Thanks appreciate it. I mean that's brian. How tough zone and sixteen minutes after the hour were bust right through this football friday. We're going to go. Broncos falcons preview will start getting into that next cody roar from pro football networks. Going to go to join us will break down. He'll break down what the film shows us at least when it comes to that corner. Play for the broncos. It's been a strong strong suit for them this year. But you're going up against the atlanta team. That's number two in passing offense so you really hope that. Aj boy is good to go. He get bryce callahan. Rookie michael ojemudia clicking on all cylinders. We'll be right back sixteen minutes after the hour. The whole show powered by energy live from the collision specialist studios catch inside up there. Dan presented by chris. Musa agency allstate. Insurance tuesday nights northern colorado's voice thirteen ten. Kfi que no code now. Weekdays at four. Another in colorado's voice thirteen ten. Kfi this is. Michael medved the men's basketball coach. The colorado state rams. You're listening to the hall. Show on thirteen ten ks a fax You know. I don't like to brag but another thursday night special locked and loaded got taken care of. I called the packers to beat the niners. I called the cover. They did thirty four to seventeen. But my goodness davante. Adams is a freak of nature ten receptions one hundred seventy three yards and a touchdown and boy. Aaron rodgers didn't disappoint four touchdowns in that game over three hundred yards. So heck of a game for the packers. Packers moved to six n two. I'll bust into the more on the nfl side game. Some of my favorite games. Outside of broncos falcons but more importantly we gotta look at that. Broncos falcons game coming up this weekend cody roy. Joining us broncos insider talent over at pro football network. Cody my friend. Always look forward to these chats We got a lot to get into before we can even get into the film before the xs and os. We gotta figure out who's actually going to be on the field this weekend. Yeah right now. Not looking so good for shelby harris. He's more than likely not going to be playing in this game. So that means that The sean williams silvester williams mckelvin regime demarcus walker draymond jones. Those guys are going to get a little bit more run this week and is vic fangio said they're going to be prepared and he believes they're gonna play well so yeah i mean going in is obviously a big blow losing shelby harris asia. Boy you still questionable right now still has to go through some Concussion protocol of ronco. Saco vic fangio mentioned today that like i if it's looking like he's not on the same track that phillip lindsay was last week but that doesn't mean that he's out yet so we're just waiting final word which will probably come either tonight or tomorrow. It'll be interesting. They'll definitely need if they can get a major boy. Tough tough passing. Attack with the falcons for sure what we know exactly about shelby harris though was is he testing positive. Is it more of a contract. Tracing what do we know a lot of details. They're just yet. Yeah so she'll she'll be was near somebody who had tested positive and he reported it to the team right away. The team medical staff and they went through the process got put on the reserve list. Went through contact tracing. Have you not seen nothing inside the building. And he's isolated where he's had negative tests all week long never tested positive. So that's good on his part. Just i don't know anymore brady out of the. Nfl works because chris jones also came into close contact with somebody else and all of a sudden. He's still playing. You know on sunday. I just don't understand it. So yeah i mean it's just it's i guess it's just a little different ways that the nfl handles it. I i just can't keep up with it anymore. Yeah i mean honestly cody. It's it's way different than it was broncos patriots week right i mean he had a couple of cases and then we moved that game and the broncos basically. We're told the hey by the way that was your bye week. Hope you enjoyed Now we're not seeing that as much. We're seeing cases but we're kind of just ignoring them saying it'll be okay it. It just seems weird to me. Yeah no i really does. And i don't know if it's because chris jones is perennial all pro player. I don't know if that's the case. But yeah i mean i think the nfl just every week it seems like. There's a new inconsistency that kind of pops up and all questioning is you know. Are they doing the right process. But i guess they are. You know it's just unfortunate. The broncos are going to be without their argue. Either best defensive player this week but you know other guys are going to have to step up your shelby harris argument one of their better defensive players. I mean harris has been has been stellar all season long so i mean that that is going to be a tall task. When the broncos they're desperate for w.'s. Right now they want. They want to climb back to that five hundred mark. Yeah they do and they have a good chance to do it this week. To know i think the atlanta falcons. They're a lot better than the record indicates and so i think a lot of people are overlooking at now defensively. They're one of the bottom ranked defense. Is they allow a lot of yards per game. They allow a lot of points per game. you know. But i think the denver's really gonna have to get some big defensive stop and if they can move the ball downfield and convert in the red zone. Where the falcons they give up red zone points. Seventy four percent of possessions by opponents bloggers got to capitalize on that. And i think with phillip lindsay. Gordon healthy tim. Patrick is going to be back in the lineup. More than like this week. I think it bodes well for the broncos chances. Talk to us a little bit about what you saw with drew lock last week. You know that first half it's it's it's rough. I mean there's no other way to put it looked bad. You saw broncos country all over twitter's freaking out and then suddenly something clicks code. You've watched a lot of football. You break broken down a lot of football games. how much of that. Fourth quarter comeback was was okay chargers going into that strange preventive defense or was this drew lock showing us what the real drew lock is going to be or is the true somewhere in between well. I think there's it's a combination of all what you just mentioned now. Thinking about the first half is that we nothing really changed with the chargers defense except you know. They lost joey bosa for the last. You know last quarter there But primarily they were sending three to four rushers every play they. Were you know all the defensive backs were playing back. And i really think it started for denver. They struggled on first down. That was an area where they were just not consistent. They're going backwards. Or they had a second down where they're going backwards. And then you face a third and long or a third medium and denver just wasn't converting on those and that was really the biggest issue so for drew lock was hit. The baby passes what he did. I mean drew. A when i go back on that film you know. There's times where he'll take his drawback he'll stay to the left side and he won't look to his right so he's going to have to continue to work on. That continued to improve going through his reads progression in the field. And i think a lot of that came in that fourth quarter. It was just a different sense of urgency. In the broncos offense and i think it was spring boarded by phillip lindsay but i think for denver to be successful. You know this upcoming week. They're going to have to not put themselves in those situations and make some of those mistakes early on. Yeah you said it. There was a cop. I mean that was one of those comebacks where if everything had to go perfectly and of course it started julia. It came down to the second right so everything had to go perfectly. Phillip lindsay started with that run Man what what does that run. Obviously it's big for the offense. But then we're hearing justin. Simmons sees that play his looking his defense going. All right now we just have to go out and get some stops. That's motivating this entire team. Well i would tell you this too. I mean i think the defense had a different mentality to them. Obviously think bryce callahan's interception. I mean we talk about lindsay's touchdown being springboard but buys callahan's interception actually gave them the victory in my opinion because l. at that point is already in field goal range because drew lock threw interception play prior. So you know it's just it's a crazy accumulation of how things went for that game. But kareem jackson hit that he had on the running back. I think it was a big tone center in the broncos. Defense the rest of the way. They had more confidence down the stretch. And i think that was something that really played well for them and then the offense got going as well based on how quick scoring play. That's exactly what the broncos needed. Yeah no i love. The you mentioned kareem jackson. I love seeing defense is maybe it's one guy. Maybe it's a handful of guys guys just with this nasty attitude bad dude it just means. He's he's nasty when he's out on the field and man i'll tell you. This cody was an offensive player. And i saw him out there. I think i'm going the other way. Yeah no absolutely. If i was running for president my smoking would be football. Violent would like because cream jackson. He's a guy that plays a he seeking missile. They're a bunch of charters fans that were trying to say he was playing. That's not the case if anyone wants to talk about being dirty. What about involved. Joseph last playoff game the pat at. I mean he threw down. Patrick morris injured him and he may miss the rest of the season. So i mean. I i get divisional games. Have a lot of juice to them. But you know you got to play better than that. And i think for the denver broncos. This was a good win that they needed and now they have a chance to go five hundred this week can't question about it and you get this win. Suddenly i mean the the idea of playoffs is kind of a reality. at kodiak. i think these charged. The chargers games are always interesting for the last couple of years. The broncos have won those games were at least maybe their seasons not dead. The question will be. How do you follow that up. And certainly some games coming up here in these next three or four games Where the broncos could put themselves in a great position. What is the film show you. I know you broke down. Aj boy you really breaking down this this the the defensive backs and how they're doing man they're going to need to be on top of their game against this falcons passing attack this weekend. Absolutely i mean any time. I mean the broncos. This is the third week enrolled of playing one of the nfl's top offense altogether And the thing that stands out in this game is colin. Ruby has over six hundred yards receiving. He's got six touchdowns. Julio jones has five hundred each got two touchdowns and todd got eight touchdowns as a running back. The fourth leading rusher in the national football. This is a very good offense. Now i think the story line. For the atlanta falcons is that there is not a very good defensive team so for denver being on the road you always have to have the mindset that you're already down fourteen points and i think the one thing that's going to determine where this team is going to go is for drew lock right what what drew lock is gonna show up as you're going to be the competent guy that can throw it across the middle field. I think that's the case. I think the broncos would be good but defensively united mention what the wide receivers ever gonna be tested in asia. Boy it can't play. I think that's going to be massive. Yeah i know you want to see all those guys out there. Were getting a taste of that more and more but getting all three of those guys out there is certainly is a huge boost for the broncos. Defensively you said it there on the offensive side drew lock. Let's see what kind of guy he's going to be. What do you see as far as tight. End noah fant albert okwuegbunam. Are we going to see multiple setups. Now we're both of those guys are in. yeah. I think you're gonna see a lot more of it. As the season progresses. I mean drew. It mentioned it yesterday that you know. They like the combination out of twelve personnel. But for alvarado. He's earning more reps. And i think what the injuries the broncos tight end right now. You can't help us out to a man lineup with those two guys in there And i think as albert gets a lot more comfortable as the season progresses. You're going to see him. Be target a lot more. What you think defenses are starting to pick up on which i think. That's where drew lock has to go through. He's gotta hit those other guys. Yeah spread that ball out. Man i tell you what gordon lindsay i keep saying it every week and we see it. You know we kind of embarrassed. We don't get to see them both on the in the line up in the second half because somebody's hurt gordon situation but i still feel like cody that at once. We get this thing going and consistency spells out for these two. I feel like they're gonna keep rising in the charts as far as the team stats in the rankings. In the rush offense. Yeah you know. I think that's that's one of the cases. I've always been a big believer of thinking that their offense needs to be identity. Their identity needs to be rushing. The football and i think they have the personnel to. Do it You know it's gonna be a big test week no grande blackout once again. But you're going to have austin sean mcvay right guard. Grady jarrett there at the interior often. defensive line those guys are gonna have to step up big. So i think denver's try to stretch some of their place to the outside and be able to capitalize maybe trap trade. I mean grady. Jarrett a little bill on a trap play be able to kick him out and then get up and you know the problem. I see here brady. Is that when you look at a team like atlanta with great jerry lineup and zero technique head up on lloyd cushenberry. They'll slant him one of their very fast enough. Let inside backers that to me i think is where the broncos will be tested and in terms of being able to run the football and also being able to pass it You mentioned to you know the potential about playoffs or we'll denver's get into a very important stretch here where they're playing a lot of divisional games right. Next week's going to be the. Las vegas raiders. And then you've got to play the raiders. At the end of the season i play. The chargers wants more. You're gonna play the chiefs. Wants more winning those divisional games going to be huge in terms of tiebreakers especially at the end of the season once. That season comes around if denver could get to the happy spot about that seventh seeded team. They do have a chance to win it but they also have to hope that a couple of other teams lose along the way. But i think this is a team that is still growing. They're trying to find their identities. They get more guys back healthy. I think they're going to be in a better position. Yeah no question. We're starting to see guys can get put back in installed into this into the lineup. And that's certainly helped. I think with the confidence and man. What a what a great outing. It wasn't at fourth for pretty much. Everybody i mean you're seeing everybody get involved. It was nice to see. Hamilton was nice. Decay j with that game. Winning touchdown pass. That's a fun offense when drew lock can kind of get everybody involved. You see them going more fast. Paced style offense like we saw late in that game. They should we believe they should now. If they don't come out you know. I think the issue run into you could go up tempo from the very beginning. But you have to get a rhythm i and so i think if you don't have a rhythm you tried to go up temple it's not gonna work. The broncos could get into a little bit of a rhythm then go up tempo. Then i think it plays well to the personnel that they have the faith you know obviously the lineups and also being able to get it to where the guys on the other side of defensively don't have time to sub and i think for denver. They do have the ability to do it. I think we're going to see a little bit of it on sunday. Yeah should be a lot of fun like you said to five hundred men. Then you get broncos country really excited for the next few games cody. What are you working on for us. My friend that we can check out the next couple of days. We got the film room on youtube. Cody work in nfl. Plus lockdown broncos every single day. Monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday on your favorite podcast provider. Make sure you guys check it out. Three one nine nine six three one nine nine six colfax. It's gonna be a crazy week in the nfl. looking forward. To broncos falcons butto. Yeah let's look at the my favorite games outside of denver and atlanta. Well this one looks pretty good. Looks promising anyway. The six in one seattle seahawks make their way to orchard park taking on the buffalo bills the bills six into some big big test for buffalo. You know obviously russell wilson for many. He's the mvp for me. He's close but josh l. Pre ice quarterback now. He's not. He's not an mvp caliber. He's not. He's not a elite right now. But he's a solid quarterback he's thrown for sixteen touchdowns and obviously having devin singletary back. There has been really nice. From ninety three carries turner eighty five yards and a touchdown. This game to me should be really good. Seattle's favourite by three in this game. So like i said seattle they For the most part they keep games pretty damn close. They have a lot of work to do defensively especially against guarding the pass. But i love this offense. And i think russell wilson you know listen few save patrick mahomes the mvp russell. Wilson's the mvp. You probably not wrong at least at this stage okay. Next game ravens colts the culture. Five and two. I don't know why i'm so surprised by that. philip rivers. he's a he's been okay but they just they have some weapons. They have a lotta guys stepping up baltimore. Obviously lamar jackson throwing the ball okay. But he's ran for four hundred eleven yards and two touchdowns get this. The ravens are only favored in this one by a point and a half. So maybe this game's going to be pretty good. The colts kind of have a proven type game. They've been all right so far and five and two But yeah. Philip rivers seems to be seemed to be pretty happy with his his situation at least at this point all right ending out the week. This one's interesting to me. Big big divisional battle here. Saints buccaneers tampa bay six into. Will we see antonio brown this weekend. The bucks are favored by four and a half points. Saints are still very powerful offense. It's going to be a sunday night. Game very excited about that one to boot. How about the monday night game. patriots jets. That's that's tough one. But the pats need this one desperately. It's not a game. I'm looking forward to by the way. I'm just adding it because i couldn't help but see that the the monday night game adding that we're carrying on. Kfi on monday is patriots jets. The pats are a seven point favorite in that one. And we'll see if cam newton get right bill. Bill check pretty adamant about no. He's our quarterback he's our guy. She loves cam newton so far though the patriots the bill a check. Tom brady debate. Tom brady's destroying that right. Brady's doing it with tampa bay. And that whole antonio brown thing. I mean colfax. You kind of went off on this last week. Talking about you know the patriots situation and maybe that was about tom. Brady pulling the strings there and and trying to get antonio brown there. Well here. He is in tampa bay. So it's looking like it was all tom brady. Does that mean does that. Kind of point is a clue towards tom. Brady is pull at the patriots organization. Maybe the fact because on tonio brown doesn't fit the mold of what you think bella check would be looking right now. Neither does draw krill. Either drunk retired though and then came back. Once he found out tommy going to tampa bay and now gronk there so yeah kind of just goes to show you how much poll brady had and craft. Was you know whatever you say tom. We're gonna do it did that. Did something changed in the last year or two where it was more about. Bill check Not not quite sure but yeah this this is an interesting one. I mean braun lived with brady stint with the patriots. He lived with. Tom brady then and then obviously screwed up again. It couldn't get it right. Well now we're hearing staying with brady again and Antonio brown i mean he has nothing but amazing things to say about tom and how he's learning from him as a man that's a. That's a heck of a risk for tom brady. Patriots don't usually take those kind of risk right. Pat's they did it with attorney brought last year. But maybe it's because they knew this was brady's last year. Let's try to do the brady moss thing again and see if we can get one more super bowl out of this thing before we off the part ways we can suffer through. Antonio brown's antics for half a season didn't work out but it proves that brady's counter the one taken the risk that bucks or six into i have them going to the super bowl this year. Brown is if i mean. If he can be at that level he was before he kinda you know. Lost it a little bit. Then you got you're looking at arguably the best receiver in the game. He was at the point he when he was at his at his peak. So if you can get that guy that it's going to be talked about as wow what a what an absolute huge huge risk reward the bucks find a way to make it and make the best out of it. But i'm a. I'm very intrigued by this. You know because. This is a risk for tom. Brady both both professionally and personally. I mean he's in your senior house and brown. It's not like he just was on ary either you know. He was doing bad things he was doing some me through what a tv out. His window almost hit a kid. Obviously some tweety said about about women and just a lot of crazy things. This guys done where you could borderline. Say kind of dangerous to be around. So tom brady see something in this guy and listen. I'm all about second chances. And you know honestly even more chances if you can really get to the heart of the problem and maybe maybe getting there. Maybe he is maybe not. I'm not holding my breath. But it's certainly a risk for tampa bay and we'll see if it pays off. Broncos falcons are colfax next. I'll get to my three keys to victory for the broncos what they need to do. Listen the broncos have put together some nice ws and. I know you're going to argue and celebrate not against that that greater teams and the jets and the patriots. But this is where they are the three and four. They've won three out of their last four games. They have an opportunity to get back to five hundred. And make that raiders game absolutely crucial so love. It hate it. Come up with an excuse. Whatever the broncos have an opportunity to become relevant in the nfl playoff race. We'll get to the keys to the game next. You're listening to the hall's show powered by pdc energy and thirteen ten kfi. Brady will be back after the break. Dan patrick the whole show and colin coward or northern colorado's voice. Thirteen ten kfi a hey out gets andrew's coach boeing denver nuggets. And you're listening to the whole. Show thirteen ten ks k full article out the duct the national guard. We need admitted. Maybe we are killing me. You don't play you for answering the prayers about this crime kick. The ball ran best in the united states. Tonight on hold teams business. Those businesses weekly them. The broncos falcons this weekend and denver looks to make it four out of the last five one three two. The last four. Obviously coming back and beating the charger somehow some way. They took care of the patriots. A few weeks back and and the jets and i know looking back at it. You're saying well looking to be a pretty bad team. Although three weeks four weeks ago the smart guys over nfl network and espn. We're saying hey babe. The patriots are going to be a threat in the afc. Well cam covid and everything changed now. I don't think get quite works like that but you know what fine. Some people obviously have some long term deals to deal with. I don't really think we should be saying that's the excuse for it. I just. I don't know that the patriots are there. Broncos found a way to get it done didn't look great but they did obviously get smoked by the chiefs. I saw some good things against the chiefs defensively and yeah but the chiefs ultimately got away with three points in. Obviously some of that wasn't just the offense so we can't see a repeat of that game broncos in that first half. We talked about it all week. If if drew lock continues to go down that trajectory in the first half where he's struggling he's missing while open receivers. He's too quick to roll out of the pocket. Then we would be having a very weird conversation this week about the future of the quarterback position but as espn noted. The best time to quarter goes to drew lock meaning when they needed it. The most true log did it when his career needed at the most is young career he found a way to overcome. And instead we're talking about the heroics of drew lock. Well that could all be thrown back into the trash again. If the broncos can't follow it up and find a way to beat the falcons who much better than the record shows. But i think the broncos are better team keys to success number one drew lock you gotta come out and be much better in the first half. Trust your line. I know it's tough over the last two three years that they've been bad she had trusted offensive line. Stay in the pocket. Cl- step up into the pocket. Find receivers find your tight ends defensive back. Plays number two i don't know. Aj boy is going to go or not. He was picked on last week against the chargers. You have the second best passing attack in the nfl. And the falcons michael ojemudia. You're a rookie. I know you gotta be. You gotta be expected to be better. But that's them's the breaks right. Bryce callahan you gotta be special to and more another one on the defensive side of the ball force matt ryan and make him uncomfortable back there. Bradley chubb me. Read get after the quarterback you probably getting your without shelby harris. That's a big blow to this team. Get those things done. And i think the broncos moved to a five hundred record. That's going to do it for us. Good night northern colorado.

Co. Uk, but ever came to my attention during the first lock down. The reason she came to our attention was that she was creating some incredible lives on the Weller Global community and her stars are brighter. What was brilliant and looking deeper into heaven. I checked out so much of a work. I was really inspired what she was I loved the way she presented but what really grabbed my attention with her was that she was running a salon confidence club and this is about teaching hairdressers how to actually develop their confidence that really shocked the coughing. Maybe cuz I've been somebody that maybe has had passed worries of certain hairstyles or dealing with certain clients and your confidence can really wobble. We all know if your confidence looks a bit wobbly in front of a client and that can happen real knock-on effect for you working with that client. So that's what we're going to dive into with this episode today have us going to talk us around how you can develop your confidence. We're going to get Heather's back storage and we're also going to hear how she really wasn't interested in being a salon and why she wanted to be a freelance hair stylist educator. And also what is great in this episode is how much of a geek she is home address in and to hear people really passionate and see her dressing as a hobby. It's so inspiring and I think as we head now here in England into our second lockdown, I think it's now the time to really connect with who you want to be as a hairdresser go in forward. So I think you'll get loads out of it. And remember at the end of this we are going to drop off into the extra shows if you want an extra show remember page On. Com slash how to cut it. So let's get into this interview with today's guest have a Robinson. Welcome to the podcast ever. Hello, how you doing? I'm all right. Let's give a heads-up who you got in the background. You've got some company there tonight. Yeah, I've got login in the background now Logan is about going off all of them. Now if you watch Heather's lives. Yeah Logan has become the superstars the lives and this is f as dog by the way, and yeah, he was he was chilling out earlier when he having a good snort. Yeah. So in the background as always, it's like every time I go live if such stolen I'm like, I don't always try to tell me a little bit. So come on in have a there's a beautiful Scottish accent there firstly song Long listeners around the world. They want to know where abouts in Scotland are you from so I'm from Glasgow. I'm still in Glasgow. Just got Morgan Heard the door. It's fair to go through Thursday is by the way, you could see Logan in the background just a little wander around. Yeah, so I'm in Glasgow and I'm based in Glasgow snacks as possible. Yeah, it's quite yes. It's a little bit. Texas so we're going to today really I want to learn a lot more about you ever because I know so much about you yet. I feel like I know so little about you as well and I think for our listeners but the actual title we going with with this one today is be the bad a stylist you were born to be and I really want to jump into confidence as a hairdresser and how yeah because naturally we all just in addresses are super confident wage, but we're not and I want to go into that but first up just give us a background to you yourself at the hairdresser and the educator that you are so dead silent test for Life vests make an celebrating a thirty years in hairdressing since I went and got my first start to get old job, but I should have I know I can't believe it's not long and I'm not I've grown up enough to get it that long and but I have I've been a free-lance educator for the last four years as coming up to and pring. Is two that I was a full-time well educated as well. I still freelance in a silent a couple of days and a solid know and I feel as forging the soldier about three lines to work for Whaler and I Ramon courses and do and sell and training for silence as well. So you are a perfect example of somebody that works in a very you're not just doing the one part of hairdressing here, which I think is really interesting to hear isn't it? That is quite diverse when you say what you do. Yeah. I like have them back all the one left out as well because unfortunately it's not prominent just no but I'm also part of our wedding company too. So one of my friends just got our wedding can't lease or purchase required me to kind of like high-end weddings for like American guests coming over to get married in the Scottish castles. So yeah, I've got a little bit of everything. Unfortunately. It's it's a little bit quiet or Not Dead. Just now so when you say wedding here because you are multi-talented and I know I mentioned in the pre r i mean you've won so many various Awards having you just again, just listen this through some of those awards that you bought one just because I want to set up the you know, who you are to our listeners. And it's it's more more sleeping within the the whale education sites. So I've won three awards for real education. So of one field technician of the Year back in 2009 and that you also one overall technician of the years of technical educator and then I'll one field technician of the Year again in 2012, which was great home and and I also from that we got to go to Malta and that was voted one of the top three and email which was like year of Middle Eastern Asia, but it went to someone else so I thought it was so great to the nominated. So who's the Heather when you started at your hairdresser in heaven in did you have a very clear path and where you wanted to go and has that path taken away. Are you expected to go? I think I always knew I wanted to be a hairdresser. I just didn't always know what direction I wanted to go and I was dead. I was really fortunate and when I went through time I worked for and the older Generations are know who shares I work for Rita asked. So I've got to see like a very young age what they tend to fear shoe Wars War solid education was with people come from all over the world to learn how to cut the same as our and and learn from our so it kind of opened my eyes like from a really early age to like how many different Avenues there where to address and which kind of made me a bit of like a kid in a sweetshop and spoilt for choice. But I always went to the part of the Education team. So I think that more or less steered my direction towards well as well as your hair dressing Corrigan in the direction you expected it to go. Cuz hard question. Yeah, I think so either. I love I love educated before. I love that. Look that someone gives you when you should see the light bulb going on and they get it and everything starts to fall into place for them. You just know things are going to be easier for them because of a guidance of Direction you can give them as well. And so yeah, it's I'm really terrible like these people have got like business plans and like five years time. I'm going to Kia and I find out so difficult cuz most jobs. I'm just like now I'm just happy with I'm just not look forward to seeing what's going to happen. So yeah, it's still looking back. It's waiting a good day shouldn't but I'm just terrible. It's not forward-thinking. I've got a few ideas in the back of my head of willing to go next. Well enough them as we got a long memory record. Yeah often it a big part to a hairdresser CMOS. Be wanting to be a salon owner now. Yeah has have you ever had a salon yourself know? Have you ever wanted a solemn know how long I've been asked us a hundred times or more than a hundred times. I have got the utmost respect for sellin owners wage. I think I think the right word off top my head, but they'll know what I mean. When I say that their marks that they do is is just so undervalued for like been a Nassau and keep in top of Staff manage everything and when I first left, well a lot of people ask me if I was going to not going solid and they should do it, you know everything that I stood on a Cylon off. I was like that's exact reason why I'll never settle on and I just I just like being in a like being felines I like being able to just twist and turn off. And something's kind of cash is my I just think it's such a great responsibility that I don't think are willing to take on. I think it's really and the reason I asked that question is because so often, you know with the house cuz your podcast I want people to discover their steps and learn about the industry Pathways. And so naturally the ebony always thinks he got to be a salon owner lease almost like the page of a career but actually it's the diversity of the Korea which is what I find very exciting and you know, seeing what you've done in terms of, you know educator your Bridal wage. Would you say that seeing that you enjoy that diversity that it gives you I love to ever do Stephen. I love that. I've got a different place spending and the the keep me the song from all different angles as well. And when I first left will affect mentioning because it was just a it was a massive move. I wasn't quite sure what I want to do with myself and I song I didn't like the traveling I didn't like that. I was never in the wrong place. And after a couple of weeks have been a Cylon like five days a week. I had actually feet long. I think most in a hotel for the night because I'm so used to seeing a we and being in like two and three different salads and the one day and I think I'm just used to being on the road. So what I'm doing now just bought those it's my voice is absolutely perfectly. Yeah. I love that as well. Cuz actually I think if I could transport myself back, I think I get that I think for me just on the edge sometimes being in one spot can be a bit suffocating where the idea of being able to go out and travel and see different places and I guess as a field technician that seeing you do yeah took it's just well, I was just so but yeah, I mean like even just this week alone in Iran of a large course and Sunday to Monday off for the first time in ages today. I was in New Jersey. Halo and doing and solid training next week, I've got a wedding to do and it's it's just great having like kind of go. I feel like I've kind of made this a little diverse rule that just cannot films all she wants and needs so I'm pretty I'm feel pretty lucky in that I'm just now and let's just bring up about the lock down because the line became huge for you didn't they say yeah, absolutely massive and these lies because this is where you really boring big numbers and your profile seems to have gone to another level. Yeah, It says it's been great like to the point we are when we could go back when we can dance that we could go back to work for organized at different times with different little Scotland England, Ireland Wales. I was still thought I mean I was so happy that everyone could get back to work but I was gutted over like has been mess everyone and but yeah, I took I took a moment that night. I mean I had to kind of Shake It Off. But yeah, so I bought a regular over a year ago and I promised myself that I was going to start doing life. So I was going to start doing a YouTube channel listing Facebook life and that turned on M-14 not months and then a few months and I never done it. So when lockdown was coming up, I was in a midsummer moving south Stockholm and then lock down her and I was like, I've got the dolls at home. I've got my stock at home. There is literally no excuse for me not to do alive and whatnot. I can definitely just tell you that still know what to invest. So you said that you got it. I had well one I I genuinely had no idea that everyone else is going to do lives as well. But it's fantastic and I just thought he adjacent Community. I was just so proud to be part of it. But I just feel that we all came together and set up people been in competition with each other like other Educators were the other Educators. That was great. But basically I decided that people like myself are wage because I never have any time off and I would go live the following Monday and I realized the night before that. I'd put it on D and Facebook and I was getting laid off. So I was going to live in if I March and I end up going live in the 23rd and I thought I could I know when I watch it anyway, and I looked and it was like eighty people decided I'm going to do it. So I thought well just need to change. That's what did you do have a live this first live so in my own profile, but naturally I'm on the The Well professionals the local here Community quite a log. And we just like we would people's work and go small and back up. So I've never met a hundred and I can't wait to meet me. Just get my car going to sleep when were loads, but I thought like just putting things on a. G. So I always contact whoever owns a page and see less and I'm going to do this would would you mind sharing it like sometimes if it's about like classes, it's come back up. So a message Andrew and I was like, I'm going to go live and visit be location on the page or would be okay like send a link and let people know something wrong and trust people hopefully and it's like it's like. What is I'll just I'll put it live like from from me. So he put it live and it just grew arms and legs from there is off and and strange coincidences. Just kept happening always see that's on one of the most luckiest people over but I need to admit that hard work comes in Israel, but I generally just believer song. The jammies luckiest people ever want you say, well, it was like weird things like well like, Google life life middle week saw it live from the very beginning before everyone else was which I think if I'd known many people and who was going to exit and the college has been I'm not enough and I had a lecture who came back from Venezuela Jackie our contact me and asked if I would do something for the students and I said, I can't do it this week somebody to do it like Monday for me or Tuesday for weight loss. I'll do it next week for you and she saw that big and then the weeks of the day that it fell on just happened to be like international student Awareness Day for hairdressers, and it was like, I wasn't planned it just happened. And then yeah, I was like, I don't know until it was on and then So we're going to come to it. But I've got a little thing called the cell and confidence club with a help here dressed of confidence and I thought the extra going on and you can see people's morale starting to go just wrong with the, and things so I thought I'll make a private group and I'll do the silent confidence life as well because of something that I wanted to talk to hairdressers about and not run the risk their life clients or their clients kasea and almost make like a safe place we could talk. So I I put out for that and then I had no idea that the Monday that I put it live was a Monday of mental health week or so and I'm not been advantage of that fact, but it just happened to fall like this is just a bit too creepy to be honest, but it just looks like that it just failed the right time and but like I said, it's it's V and it's lucky as well. But it just nice and it will help people and I genuinely think it helped me flopped Out of Water them home. Interlochen might have been worked to death but lockdown was not you just described it earlier. It was really mental because yeah, we all got I got to know you walk in lockdown at the fruit. You feel like you really get to know the person answers and I know we actually set up our phone call this line podcast back then in lockdown about June time and and I felt like with groups and people that were coming into your lives ever that that connection when people say to me or social media, I don't like it but it really gets them rooted relationships with people. Yeah. I've I've got people that I have never met before in my life and I really hope I get like, there's people that set like dead people. It's all 10 that I'm not name them. They're not they know who they are, but the became my friends and like I genuinely care from for them and we're 10 a.m. Shall we voice know each other of get things inside Chris and I have get friends and America. I mean the unlike when can I come over Hospital Center some good holiday destinations going on here. Yeah off of like so fans that wants to my friends just give us a bit. But yeah, like people that you'd don't know the right way to say it but like people really suck. You don't know them that they weren't and your water before lost own and like people that he contacts and you you okay and how you doing and you just see the same names coming up. It's insane. I couldn't agree more and not what you say when the lockdown actually came to an end. I even done a post into the how to cut it hairdressing Community page and empowers. I got into feel about it because it was almost like an the only way I can describe it. Is it felt like your summer holidays was coming to an end and you met all your friends when you were kids on holiday, and then it was like you're saying goodbye to everybody else. She went back then. Does that sound a bit nuts know cuz I said the exact same thing and especially when could Scotland was the last one to go back to America was back and jumping off. Well, every other country was by and then like I think Ireland back first then it was England and it also had like a week and a half my says I said exactly what you said. I was like, I feel amazing holiday and all my friends flights of left before Main and I'm sitting in the airport just waiting on the pretty cold bizarre when you hold the romance leaves as well. That's even more often right? It's just I totally get it. That's really weird as we're talking about that as it comes into my mind and they're felt like this massive void and vacuum on a lot of lives and the ink Instagram lies dried up and the face but lives have dried up. Yeah, I think it was just it was fantastic for all Angus late said there's there's so many of us are no really I kind of for what be I worked like a common name let people know and certainly on edge all the different channels that came up but then there was like both sides of there was like brand new people come through and then there was like did I see like the previous generations IP addresses. I mean some of the the original systems that are getting kind of used was just amazing. I was like hasn't I believe some of these people existed and their stories and just like their background and where they get their inspiration drama. I was totally here Chrysler get to it was just brilliant. Yeah, and you are you're very well. I love how you say you were here Jessica Talman hairdressing is incredibly it's a passion of yours, isn't it off? Right? Yeah, like probably like not even in a moon base and Chase. I just genuinely love it. It's like I went on days before know like sports. What's your birth? Freeze on the hairdressing not sure of job like a genuinely just love hairdress and I've always been there again posted and I'm saying and hence why I sit here doing podcasts wage. Do you really think this is what I want people to sometimes understand that the industry if you really get into it, it becomes a absolute lifestyle. Yeah. I am. It's just really strange for me because I I've mostly been out educating and I do a couple of days in the Cylon and and it's great but I keep forgetting to charge clients the finished off with those pets but and I know they're so cheesy, but I don't see it's a job. I just feel like I get to do them every single day of my life in people pay me from us. I don't need to walk because I get to do this and people pay me and I've always felt that way about Thursday. That's incredible. I mean you you kind of class you because you have so many different roles in your hairdresser. Like you say, you have the bridal business you'll freelancing the hairdressing Salon you do break and work but education is is a a key part of you and what I'm Keen to know that when all these lives that you put yourself into and when I'm looking into these lives I think in this is great Heather's profile is really going up a level here. Did you find did things change your career for doing those lives cuz people will say well what's the point in doing and what you get back from it? And to be honest in in the very beginning and I see the very beginning cuz halfway through like none of us knew it was going to last fourteen weeks. Shut me. So in the beginning I was like, oh, yeah, I'll just do that one may not praise know just the next week. I'll do that sale that done on the braids before their boat by week's sex. I'm like, right we don't need to start thinking about that snow. So it became like a project. She's always the case like like a water was like I started like research and Afraid and I didn't go on Pinterest cuz I bought some point I was like, what am I going to do next? And I was I was I couldn't make up my mind what to do side all these ideas and I couldn't I couldn't pick one and then one of my friends should honestly this is why I shouldn't do live interviews. I just thought my Moto G4 when ever since so one of my friends that wasn't a hairdresser. I was like what's going on with you know, it's like I'm just really stressed out because I've got these every week and I can't decide what to do. It's not that kind of thinking off. I can't nail it down and says well, what's your choices as like well, sometimes I do blades or sometimes. I do like fashion here sometimes our do fistful here shred or Bata on about a paper and put them in a jar. Can you pick one out and that should project for the week. So that's what I end up doing the last six weeks, but I genuinely done it because I've had so many opportunities and he address off and again I filmed I've been lucky about a lot gets your enthusiasm and like it must surely even at a young age how much I loved it. So people give you more of a chance and you've got a good attitude as well. I just wanted to give something back that that was genuinely where that came from. Well, you did and regulations and on what you done and and it was mostly Bridal hair, but it's not just Bridal hair. Is it that you and your coloring that's part of your your yes. It's up to Yeah, so that this is my problem because everyone keeps slipping. I when I hear everyone's advice like you need to pack any she needs to be known for something and I feel like I'm kind of caught between the devil and the deep blue sea just off because I love both equally like a train other things as well, but I love color and I've I've obviously been given so much color knowledge over the years. I mean I used to train the masked caller program and and I love it and it from a creative side but also dark side as well. Like I love her the products work and I love that some artists say it's how we can look and I'm Max and Makenna from important, but then I think my first true love is always on here in person. So it's like probably like most people like I remember like beans so over them in to dial by first Patrick Cameron book and look I studied this thing like it was a Bible, you know, people would be like, yeah, I'll get my book coats and I'll do one of these Patrick Cameron nothing like a Patrick, made up but I I was getting there and yeah, I would absolutely I mean it's it's think that you do you just looking to move on. I mean, I know actually I mean we're talking about life and had Cherie came on. Yay. She's amazing. Yeah. She's she was somebody else like, yep. You just come along actually was Bridal hair. That was the real. It really grabs people's attention. Yeah, that's think that I think it's just think that such an Achilles heel for Megan addresses that maybe we just fascinated and you know, when you see the king of you know, who you just mentioned a former guest of my son Patrick Cameron and see him do Bridal. Hey, it's just wasn't really grabs the scene and found an education is synced that you do and you cover but actually what I want us to move onto and is think that really grabbed my attention when you got in touch and you song about some things I would like to talk about is you actually mentioned about actually sell on confidence now, I want to know more about this have a what is this Salon confidence in the U. So it's like you said like to the outside world would like to the non hairdressing communities. We're Sinners these like really confident people and walk. Two strangers and do their hair and I know for a fact there is a one hairdresser on the line that hasn't stopped crying in the back staff and we're trying the toilet by some medical when they thought that claims board and everyone thinks were really really confident and just went from our own experience and obviously watch and friends and colleagues and took that are coming in courses. I think a lot of those are good to look more confident and coming across as confident. But the little voice that seven sages is sometimes tell me something different and and what kind of realized really early on when when I was educating was it was all very well-made showing your Technique. I'm telling you how a product what but if you went away and you don't have even like product knowledge and technique aside, but if you rent a we have to train in D, and you didn't have the confidence phone number Our self to then approach a client and see like I've learned something new today. I'd really love to use it on your hair then then the day was wasted it had been nothing but I'm a nice day out a trendy. So I saw if if I could help instill confidence and another word for confidence is self belief that if I could start helping people to believe and just how cuz I see so many hairdressers who are so so good and they put themselves down so much and it's like you almost might just give them a shake and like and I did not check them obviously, but I think it's like you said, it's funny is Rachel here as well. Like there's not themself up a lot better about it. But a lot of times wage like someone's went and done something training course and they're beating themselves up like no it's not good enough not don't like it and actually take my cross the other side the river and I'm like look at that if your friend in the Silent Bob That which admire and oh, yeah, how about yourself up for it? So it's about getting them just to start believing in themselves. I think that's so well put down so it doesn't mean when you say that you teach coach people. Yes a long confidence. Are you qualified in this? Is this ain't you just taking your own expert? Okay, give us a heads up on that. So probably like most servers. I'm really interested in like like how people how people work. I mean we were young people every day and again most times what we're taught skills were taught techniques, but were not always taught or were very lucky if we are taught how to actually deal with people and and we kind of learning as we go along and so I invest Caesars amazing guy called Allie Campbell, and I'm very wage. Do has a print a show so during that you learned NLP which is noodle linguistic programming. So how people view the world and I learned techniques and P which to begin with I wasn't and once I had to I kind of understand and all of it made so much sense to me and done life coaching as well and kids are invested to do the the mentorship. So you're you're cold one Valley Campbell's are playing. This is where you got like so many areas of one-on-one time with them as well to kind of almost help you steer in the right direction of where you want to focus up. So at this point in time and when I actually done the training I wasn't looking to kind of be a life coach, but I really wanted to put it into my home and say to help people get more out there train and Athena thing. Say it's almost the understanding your students and actually how you can take that and really help them on those nervous moments because yeah, you probably said it and say, you know, we've all been there and I certainly had a real lack of confidence when it came to long hair. Actually I could fill this year ago coming in to me and but you do you nail teach these as stand-alone cool says rather than just you know, is are you using your coaching skills? As part of your Academy your education or is it actually people coming to you to learn confidence how to gain confidence? It's it's a lot of that. So I of course called Silent confidence club and that was kind of just in its infancy last year. And again, it was a lot of it with focal and too far down the self-help rip off as well as and a lot of it is getting people to understand that a lot of the things they tell themselves. I've been made up. So I do that as a course, I do that as like one-to-one coaching side. I work with a lot of like he addressed individually or solenoids and eventually we're from Volvo done it with a kind of made up this summer in their heads and it's about kind of getting them to see it from a different angle, but I'm mostly user when I'm training so you can set a bit along here dress something wrong. If you don't feel confident in something you almost like whilst you're doing it you start making up stories about what you think the clients thinking about you and I've seen it so many times you like. Oh my God, she hates it off with all done that Willock and like halfway through a blow dryer and you're looking at a client's face and the client could just be sitting thinking about what should we make for dinner that night. So she's not smiling at you know matters just thinking about a conversation she had with her boss week before and you're looking at going. Oh my God, she hates it. She absolutely hates it or I should never have done this color and you should have done this color or Wednesday after this. I'm not even due to call it again. I'm going to leave I'm going to do something else my life before you know it you've taught yourself a clear just simply because of losing was thinking of them are in November two thousand interview with Mark Hayes as in creative director, which we done, but the episode I'll put it in the show notes for everybody. But actually what I was surprised with with with Mark a dog You know the world's most respected haircutters and he still feels that with clients at that confidence and your and even do models and you're you've got that almost underneath and fear of today like you know, and yeah, it's we're quite fragile people. I think all this hairdressers, hence, we we come into that creative and and I think what would be really Keen for you to just Shari's some of the things that you would help practice with people there may be coming to you on, you know, just struggling with their confidence. What what advice would you give birth to some of them? So, you know, somebody comes to you and says look have a I'm just really struggling on feeling confident about who I am as a hairdresser. Even the conversations talk us through some of the things in stride changes that you would use to get confidence into people. So I think the main thing is is realizing that 99.9% of the thoughts in your head. Is almost a bad more just now but it's completely not a robot. Yeah, and I mean is most of the things you're worrying about whether whether it be here Joseph the perishable, but most of the things you're worrying about is something that you've made up based on the last time something like that happen to you. So most fears are either learn so the other layer no fear. So let's take let's take a color correction. For example, or heat up. I mean cuz like you said maybe five percent of the jobs are petrified ahead ups and and mostly that's because During the trade in the focus was so much on here Cuttin and so much in color or even just one of the other and one day the tools to get out the Comforts of God forbid someone put her hair up in the column off and they were kind of like flogging to do it and they've done it and it worked out but the the experience was so traumatic that the next time someone walked through the door to have a heater bulb on your brain works and patterns. So your brain starts going to your God will go to a head up again. Are we remember what happened? The last thing we've done I hate up. It was hell on the earth before you even picked up a grip you're petrified home. So most of the fears that you've got our well really more severe as you go and learn so violent learn from something happening to you or you've learned them off someone else and if you've got something that's holding you back in here dressing. You can guarantee your vital watch. Let's say for example the sailors who trained you may have Haight here UPS, so they never done them you like and it was someone your age States so you learn off that trusted person that that wasn't a good time for you to go Zone because they're a great and then a lot so why am I going to get go against what their tail me or it's like I said, you've had an experience with a client and it's more or less traumatizing to not doing it again today. So right actually happened as you're saying this and I hope our listeners as kind of God running a full through their head as you're telling this because that's exactly what I'm doing and you're taking me back to a big crisis moment in certainly actually my hairdressing career where my car accidents went and it was because of doing a broader hairstyle. It wasn't going well the Panic started to set in you know with that you're trying to put it up and you're trying to technique and got down and Patrick Cameron. You just say the bar too high for the day. I talked about this before but there was certainly that song. Latest Bridal hair was very structured and you felt like you had stories incredible. Hi defining hairstyles and and it wasn't working and therefore the Panic started to set in and bought the client was sat there with a friend and the friend could sit and you can see the Panic signed to come in to you and everybody's picking up and we start perspiring and the actually that really did a seed in my mind because I wanted to be great at Bridal hair, but actually that lack of confidence stop me from pushing myself on because I can't do that. I can't it's just too technical wage, but there are ways so maybe some of our listeners are thinking. Well, actually I recognize that with a color even with a haircut and yeah, so what will you would say to somebody like me know situations is what choice The quick fixes remove yourself from the situation and it sounds so simple. So one of his is not is not difficult technique, but based on me telling you that most of the things you've written that are giving you the fear, even when you think about that case scenario, just note. Most of it's your brain line to you. So like your your brains just trying to be your best friend your brains. Try to look after you. I mean, so it's something as simple as we sit down a cheer every day and think about it, but if you sat down a chair and a leg broken you fail over and bumped your head. So the next couple of times you went to sit down you would check the chair. And because you've had that fear no store is the same thing if you're faced with anything. So all your friends seeing you check the cheer each time. You sat down at night you a little bit strange because to them there's nothing wrong as it's all in your head. There's a fear there and so as you can very least recognize that the fear is something that you've made off opiates try and protect yourself, but your feet is something that your subconscious made up to protect you and I see this I'm afraid of classes and they laugh at me but I'm pretty straight to the point. Most things one of the best things you can do is remove yourself the situation because you're standing there sweating trying to grab a pen with a fear of God going through you terrified to look up and so matter because of their face might be I mean and yeah, but we've all been there I mean to say argued back washer to nakano Christ was going to come out like and I was dead. Stay honestly just see this is like barefaced lie. This is like fantastic. I'm so pleased with how this is going. But you just excuse me say this is steps the bathroom for two minutes away. Get this finished and right away that if you have moved yourself from a situation you immediately start if you'll bear jumped mean if you're frightened divorce, you take yourself out through the water and you feel bad about it, but nothing's changed in the room. You just removed yourself when you remove yourself then have it. Is there a way if you got to just calm yourself down so, you know, I'm gonna leave and the client obviously can pick her palm and and that could be a fear of it would be a fee of buying if I'm being honest. I'll be thinking what they thinking they're thinking. I'm a failure on you know, yeah. Yes, you've got all these going through everything that you've ever had wrong in your life tumbling back at the back of your head doesn't and it's like that's how you try to Second primary skill and all laugh that Ultima car. I'm wrong stuff and kind of birth. The the little kind of bitching your shoulder just parrot straight off and shows as long as you can and I'm going to probably regret saying this but it's it's genuinely got me out of so many jams gwent the bathroom off the nice fashion. Nova is going to the bathroom on the cold tap and put the rest put your rest under the cold tap it immediately kills your rate zone, but the best thing you can see yourself is off. I'm not fact. I just think and even just kind of like telling yourself almost like talking back to that inner voice. It's not doing any good just note and just recognizing it's a false thought collectively change the way you walk back out that room, which is what a lot of this do and I have done it myself. I can I can be right back there and that toilet and bath Cylon of the toilet and I've literally just put my head down on my knees and just told myself how much of a few Garmin and hotel to bomb and how I should just give up but it's birth You get to that point you can stop and go. I'm not screwed. I just I just been cam. It's just my brain making things up. I can do this and I'm going to go back out and do it and literally just giving yourself a pep talk and attentive things that if if you're going on that downward spiral one of the best things you can do is think it's just a friend what advice would get them and I think if you're if you're truly at that point we are cuz we all get dark days. But if you're true that point we are just think in general or I'm not good at this. I should just change the direction setting write a list of everything yard go. I mean sit sit and write a list and it can be really really difficult to do but if you sit and wait a list of everything your guitar or the very least two everything you're grateful for right down in the fact that you've got paying it off right just puts it in black-and-white like a change of Direction and your thought and I really think that helps and cuz I think it's easy talk to your friend. But sometimes if you're not distressed about a situation the last thing you want to do is admit it loads you really distressed about it. So if you can learn to kind of almost enter your mindset it's going to make things a lot easier when you walk back in that situation again, we're going to drop out of that into right there. Training in the Dark, Fact or Fiction? | Episode #17
"Okay, welcome back. Guys. We are we are blessed to have wonderboy back our, our friend Ben has rejoined us for the summer, we can finally get some stuff done around here. He is one of the main reasons that these that I'm recording this podcast right now because he's going to hold me to my dates, we've got a podcast Tuesday. It's actually Wednesday. But we're going to record a day late, but we're gonna try shoot. These things are record these things on a very consistent basis, going forward also gonna do go back a little bit to the original format that we were doing. I've got a list of generated questions that I think are important and have kind of held onto that we're going to try to tackle shorter little bit shorter. Structure to it. We've been also really lucky to work with some great partners in friends, quite honestly, who have we have done podcast with on their podcast channels, or whatever you wanna call them and they are. Allowing us to share those podcasts. So we just I think Ben just put one up from Tony Peterson. From sporting dog talk. We also have one coming up from a friend of ours. Bob Owens that we're going to be sharing with you guys. So we've got a few of those that are kind of in the can right now that we're going to be giving you as well. But go back this week or I should say this time on a question that came from it actually was a Facebook message. So what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna read you the message. I messaged him back. Guy's name was Brad, Wisconsin guy. I messaged him back. And I told the man there's kind of a lot in this question he sent it to me. It's just a Facebook message. He did make mention that he listened to the podcast, which I appreciate all of you guys doing that. He, he asked if we could maybe address it on the podcast. So I put off his answer for about two or three weeks. Now. But I'm going to read you the question and then we'll we'll dig into it a little bit. I've got several like this, that several questions like this. And then more recently, we've been, we've done some workshops. We've got one workshop coming up yet, which is going to be the end of this month. It's may thirty first to June second workshops for me are energizing their inspiring. I get a ton of momentum coming out of them myself with our dogs, but I get I get I feed off of energy of other people that come to him. So I've got several things that have been in my mind since we started doing the workshops that, that are going to be topics great topics for discussion. It's also allowed me to kind of reassess, some of my chain stuff and I'll get into sharing some of that stuff with you, too, because no dramatic or drastic changes just things that I've probably overlooked probably became dull a little bit in my own training with my own my own personal dogs my own personal. Dogs haven't had a lot of work up until recent times so due to schedule do whether due to clients dogs being here. We know we don't have any clients dogs right on down to my three feels like we don't have any dogs right now. We've got three but so we're going to get into some of that, too. But let me start out here. So Brad wrote this message. Jeremy just wanted to let you know we found a good puppy. So he messaged me months before asking for some recommendations of puppies. And as I scroll back, I see we've had several exchanges. So he's messaging me back. This early may said just wanna let you know, we found a good puppy will be getting your mother's day weekend. I've purchased several several of your DVD's, and I've been listening to your podcast, so that he said, I would really like to hear more about how you work with the dogs during regular walks with the family. And when you are when you have company over in my house, dog is part of the family when company is over we allow the dog to socialize and be. Part of the group is long as behaviors acceptable on walks, we allow our dog to have freedom as long as she's not chasing anything and staying close. I feel the dogs need to be a bit of need a bit of freedom from time to time. And I'm curious as to your views on this. I think this would make for great podcast. Also, when I started to train, my dog to shed on trained her in the dark, so the scent of the shed was, I think she picked up on not the visual just thought that might be an idea for you. When you're trying to get your pups to pick up the scent of the antler rather than just the visual as you talked about in your last podcast. I was a podcast that we did several weeks ago. Now coming off a shed trip, where we had dogs that were struggling on small sheds, really little spikes, and four corns. And then he says, I really enjoy your content look forward to hearing from you. So I'm gonna tackle the end of his first. So he had the idea or he sounds like he did train his old dog in the dark. I've heard a lot of people talk about doing that. Here's my idea on that. It handicaps me as a handler. I can't see my dog. So my dogs first off, I think their vision is, is pretty good, even in low light conditions they can run through the woods and not get into trouble. So I don't know that there is aren't adapt. Did a little bit differently than ours. So I think we gotta think outside of how we see and smell and and, and process information in comparison to the dogs. So the reason I don't get too excited about the idea of this, or doing, this is a I don't know that the dogs are handicapped that great. I think I am great, Mikey. When I worked odds very important part for me is the ability to read the dog, I need to be again and learn so much based on how the dog responds particularly when it comes to nose work. I read body, language like their tail some dogs have different different types of clues my dog's tails change pace my dogs when they're tracking. They're on a lie. Fine their whole body changes the pace the rhythm of their everything their from their feet from their nose to their tail it, it's different ears are indicators, you see dogs ears perk, up. You just you. See these different things I give that up if I'm working in the dark. So I look at the idea of working with my dogs as great opportunities for me to learn, especially in training because it's a controlled environment, and I set the drill up or whatever it is. We're doing. I know exactly what the outcome should be or should look like from a result standpoint. But what happens in the middle what I'm interested in when it comes to the dog? So I want to be able to see that read that body language and understand when they are aren't in an area if they are were, if they are in an area if they're working at the way, I think they should be, you know, I just give that up from from sense of being dark because I visually can't see him as far as the nose goes, again, I don't think because their noses. Are so strong and dominant over the eyesight for themselves. I just don't know that you're gaining ton 'cause I don't think there is are handicapped nearly like ours and I think they're gonna use their noses the same. I think what my struggle was with those young dogs was, I had dogs that were visually. Hunting with there is more than their nose. And so what I wanna do is I want to create training drills in have over the last couple of weeks, especially because I'm doing some things and I can get into this later. But I'm getting doing some things at greater distances with my dogs, and so I have made a made a point of focusing on always, incorporating, some knows work. And when I say knows work into my my setup of drills like I'll do. I'll do a cycle of drills. And so in that cycle, I'll have something that's knows specific that might be burying tennis balls and cover it might be brushed files. It might be. It's all these physical literally physical, barriers that they cannot see it. So they'll have to use the nose. And I'm gonna get these dogs also start slowing down a little bit. That's a big that's that goes bigger than just knows work. But I want I need to personally, I need to slowed things down with my dogs, I get in a hurry. I twenty minutes to work a dog. So I try to fit in thirty minutes worth of training in twenty minutes. And I don't think it's productive. I lost I lost that twenty minutes because I didn't do it. Right. So if I have twenty minutes, I should try to fit. Now, my mentality is don't try to fit twenty minutes of training into twenty minutes. Try to fit ten minutes or five. Five minutes training into twenty minutes. So it's a real opposite mentality. But what is doing is forcing me to slow down a half to slow the pace down because I'm, I'm I get in routine, and I become sloppy and when I become sloppy dogs become sloppy. So that's that's going off in another direction. But so those are those are some things that I that I think, as far as the idea of training in the dark. Now, I don't think it's a bad idea. That's the only time you have I use I trained a great dog. Years and years ago was one of my personal dogs and I literally didn't have enough time to do it during the day. So I trained him in the dark because when I get home from work by the time I got everything done at my son. He was really little at that time. He would go to bed, I'd go across the street, and I would train on a soccer field in the dark. It was the only time I could get away with it, because it weren't people around that was at a school. And so it was convenient for me, but I did it in the dark because a I didn't have enough time during the day, and be is the only time I could use that field without getting kicked out so that I'm not saying, don't turn in the dark. I'm saying that, that was the reasoning that I did it. So let's go back to his questions. Here. Really like to hear about how you work with the dogs during regular walks and family with the family. And when you have company over so I need, I think what we need to do. So the big the big, I think this question here is, you know, he wants to he has a puppy that was mother's day which wasn't was a couple of weeks ago. Two week or two ago. So he's got like eight to ten week old puppy probably right now. Now what I think what I'm guessing in this, it'd be easier in conversation. But what I'm reading into this is. And I hear this a lot from people. And I think it's a mentality that some people take is you just gotta let him be puppies for a while. You can't put so no, I, I agree. You can't put it on a pressure on young dogs. I think you have to have very realistic expectations and have an understanding of what they're capable of what they're not capable of and be okay with that, because you're not going to change that. But what I do think you need to understand, is just because they're attention Spanish short, just because they're little puppies, just because they're real, cute doesn't mean that they can be Helen's doesn't mean that they can go rough housing doesn't mean that they can run a boat. That is the quickest way to develop a dog that becomes superior independent and a little bit combative towards our training. Not only in for a lot of reasons. I think they're gonna form bad habits. I think if you let your dog run amok, it will form bad habits. It's inevitable. So I think what we want to do. The other thing I think is fast forward. Six months, I, we just had a workshop with several six month old dogs, and it was very clear that for the first four months, the last four months of the dog from the dog came to that, that house until the dog came, I saw it. There were several situations where the dog clearly had made some form some poor habits in a real short period of time. And if you think about four months is a very short period of time. Four months is a blink of an eye. My baby just turned four months old turns former tomorrow, twenty-third. What is today? Twenty second and so, so four months, four months ago, my baby was born like that feels like it was yesterday. So you got this puppy that comes in, and you, you're excited about the puppy. Well, it's going to be a dog. It's gonna look like a dog. It's gonna start acting at times like a dog it's going to have the ability to become way too big from a control standpoint for you super-quick. So while they're little I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying them. I think it's fun to imprint good things early because it makes your life so much easier in four months. So what I think is I read into this and, you know, you said. He said in my house. The dog is part of my family, no difference here that is identical situation when the company is over. We allow the dog socialize part of the group is long as the behavior is acceptable on board with that one hundred percent. So technically, I don't disagree with anything in your question. I think that's what you need to do in. That's quite likely what you are doing. I think a lot of people are listening, probably have these same questions, but aren't necessarily holding the dogs to the same standard. When it says they need to be behavior acceptable says on long walks our dogs allowed some freedom as long as she's not chasing anything in staying close. I think that's fine. I think there's exploratory type walks where the dog can kind of get a little bit of space get a little bit since. I don't think we just let the dog develop complete independence. I think these early on times on a free walk like this. Let's call it just a fun, walk. I think you need to be able to build in some good. Good habits training recall is you can recall, you can teach recall at this point recalls, probably one of the biggest struggles that people have I recall can be built up when you've got an eight ten twelve fourteen week old puppy. I think if you wait till twelve or fourteen weeks, good luck because you're going to develop it too late. And this dog is going to go. I don't think I think there's better things out there. There's more interesting things out there than being necessarily right next to mom or dad and that's hard to overcome because at fourteen weeks. I can't catch the dog anymore at ten weeks. Again at eight weeks can so and, and I al- also see about that time period is when I see these dogs when they start to develop that independence. I see them decide that's about the time that they don't necessarily want to always be with me. It's kinda like Mateen's, like my teenage sunny seventeen years old. Well up until the time he was about thirteen fourteen. Maybe he always. Wanted to be with me because I think he thought I was really cool. And then all of a sudden he got to a certain age where it wasn't always the coolest thing to be with dad. And so now you know, like I struggled personally, with, because it go man, I wish I wish I could go back. I wish I could go back and enjoy that time again. But you know not that I mean, we've got good. We've got a great relationship. He's my best friend, but we things change. And so with these dogs things are going to change. And if you don't prepare early on for that time of change you're you're going to be in a world of hurt. So it all comes back to control. So, like, whether it be in the house when companies over, I don't mind, doc socializing, I like dogs on place, putting them on place. You guys have seen it. You know, if you don't know what I'm talking about places a very, very controlled situation for the dog that does not allow the dog to get into anything. It's safe. It's a it's, it's the alternative to being in the kennel. Or with me under complete supervision, my dogs, get a very few options there on place there in the crate or kennel or there with me under control. Or if it's whether whether allows, we will tie out, especially early on to start to give the pressure to the neck, and that's gonna help us with some he'll work down the road. But I think this idea of in the house, we allow the dog to socialize and be part of the group is long as the behaviors acceptable. I'm all for that. I don't like dogs having free run. I don't like dogs having an open house that they can go anywhere. They want because it's inevitable. They'll get into stuff. They'll get into trouble. They can't chew on stuff if they can't get to the stuff in. That's place training comes in. So I think it's nice to have them there. I think it's great to socialize them. I think you should I think you have to do it under control. So if you're, if you're now, doesn't sound like this is Brad situation. But if you're listening you go. Well, I wanted to I think we. Could do that, too. I wanna do that, too. But I'm just going to let the dog run around your that's not going to be. Behavior. That's acceptable, who don't free run. It's I'm a huge believer in the success of the failure of the dog is or the puppy, especially, is dictated by the handler. And if you set them up to fail, they'll fail if you set them up to succeed, they'll succeed, so that to me is where behavior becomes acceptable, that is behavior that is acceptable. So then you got on the we talked about on the walks on the walks. I think those are -tunities to build and recall, I think those are opportunities. I don't wanna do just free walks because one of the biggest things. That one of the keys, we started talking workshops about this, and it came up time and time again. There are a couple keys, and when I say keys, I mean, like really, really important points, and they literally are the things that start the car for you keys are important, because they allow you to start your vehicle like you can't drive your car. Can't start. It can't start. If you don't have the key, this, these are keys in that sense, from a dog standpoint in there, aren't that many of them. I don't think there's a ton of them. One of them is in regards to I'm going to say foundation, general obedience just. It's connected directly or indirectly to just about everything I do at the dogs that is heal that is put in a dog and he'll position and having them under control. The other one is more specific towards your treatment. And that's and that's hold like a good delivery. So in the way to achieve it in my opinion is hold conditioning, but not for stretching. But so two different subjects. But the he'll this, this touches on. He'll so when you talk about going for a walk giving him a bit of freedom. We talked about that. That's a that's something that can be eighty twenty rule in maybe it's not even that. Maybe it's ninety ten but you I do allow them to explore a little bit. I think they become bold, I think they become confident, I think they become they learn things when they have the ability to kind of explore, but they have we have to be able to contain in control that situation, the rest of the time I want to do I want to be starting to improve. Good, he'll work and so at eight ten weeks old it's a little early. But by twelve weeks, you'd better be thinking pretty seriously about it. So eight to ten weeks that what I find typically in every a little different. But what I find typically is they'll follow you around most of the time, like they don't necessarily want to get out in get in front indefinitely. Not very far if they do. So most of the time I take these walks at you're talking about on walks. We allow the dog to have freedom as long as he's not chasing anything and staying close. I have you'll find that with that eight week old puppy for the next couple of weeks. The majority of the time you can go for walks, and there's a follow you I love that. I love imprinting the early idea of you're the leader, they're gonna follow you. I do it. And you if you look on Facebook Instagram way back when and you'll see it again, the next puppy, we bring in. We, we heal our older dogs in he'll position. I mean, they're in good during the right where they need to be in these little puppies pack right into that. And when I say pack in, I mean they become part of the pack, and I just saw on the other day where we were walking, and I had three or four dogs on he'll older dogs. And we're walking down the road and this little pup was with us. It was I don't even know how old twelve weeks, maybe but I don't even know if it was a here. She to be honest with you, but they were coming along with us. And as soon as I stopped the puppy stopped all these other dog stopped some of them sat this little puppy would stop. And then I'd heal them off this little puppy come with and literally stay side by side with us. Those are all opportunities to start forming in molding this little puppy to do the stuff that you're gonna end up doing down the road. It's just an easy way to get a jump start on it. So I do think you should take advantage of that. I think you. Have to take advantage of that. So those are the those are the things that is Brad's question. So I thought it was a really good question. Brad, I hope you listen to this. I we've got a couple of other ones that we're going to do. They're similar to this. I like these because I think they're kinda quick hitters. They're not super long, but they're I think they're valuable so with that being said, fire away, if you have questions that you think would be a good to address. I, I love the, the options of rec-. I don't mind emailing back in messaging back. I think I'm limited with the amount I can cover in it, because I just mytalk faster than type so. But the, the other the other thing is, you know, conversation conversation is big because going back and forth. I've, you know, have plenty of people that call with questions and probably should record those because those would be great podcast because then I get interaction. I can ask questions lot of times. Someone asked me a question. I gotta ask a couple questions of them this guy. Brad when he message me I had to ask him. They'll actually is a different one. There's another one that I had to Email or message back with a few questions for him in order for me to get the right information to feel like I could answer them complete so, so, like I said, these are kind of quick hitters were under thirty minutes. Right. So we're under thirty minutes. If you've got questions, fire Moi Instagram Facebook are the two biggest for us, our YouTube channel now that wonderboy is back our YouTube channel will grow. We've got several things. He is cranking out a lot of small training content pieces, that we have films, literally, some of them are over the years summer more recent, but we're going to be leveraging our YouTube channel, so at dog bone hunter, we really feel like we need to utilize it more. Our plan is to start fueling that. And so Ben is going to be after that for me along with lots of other projects that are kind of in the hopper right now. But. Again. Thank you for listening. We, we really appreciate it. We're going to try to continue to, to use this platform to be able to provide you with just another way to get some more information is all so fake you so much for your support. If you would do us the favor. Of subscribing, if you're not a subscriber or maybe even sharing it with somebody. That isn't a subscriber share it with someone that you think might help. And if you would if you are listener, and you listen to a lot of them if you do me a favor and leave us a rating on it. That would be. A huge favor that we ask and I know it takes a little bit of time. But if you'd be willing to do it, we'd greatly appreciate it until our next one. And like I said, we've got a couple of different. We've got a couple of different formats that we're going to be starting to share some podcasts in. So thank you for listening. And we will we will be talking again soon.
Shed Dog Breeds: Can Breeds Other Than Labs Be Shed Dogs? | Ep: 26
"M all right welcome back guys a one episode of rio olympics twentysix doug one podcast again why think you guys are listening 'em this week we are a breaking v a the way we normally do it usually were last few we've been doing questions from facebook instagram answering those i do have a couple that were gonna get to a we're gonna we're gonna sneak one in here 'em an episode in between though on just kind of give you an update on one of the projects we have going a in it started so we mentioned it last week and recording we mentioned it but it was a little early 'cause we know exactly the timing this 'em but it's here now so a it's kind of exciting i think it's something that might be worth following along with if you're interested in the idea of how some of are training 'em transfers a two dogs that are necessarily labs i mean you you guys are used to watching us in in hearing about us and seen us talk about retrievers 'em it's because that's what i feel really comfortable with it's the majority of the dog trainer retrievers 'em more specifically even dialed down even tighter 'em we like i like the style of a little uk bread dog 'em uk united kingdom european style a lot of people come british labs 'em but they're they're coming from scotland outlander coming from northern ireland or or england itself and that style a dog a fits what i feel like my training style 'em matches it best 'em i definitely don't think that that is exclusive sieve or or only designed built for that style a dog i think it suits them very well but i also think doug change dog training and i just don't think that 'em when when we do workshops when we do our handle their workshops shops we've got all kinds of breeds 'em pointing dog's lots of retrievers 'em we have had several shepherds over the years come through 'em we've had at australian shepherd 'em this last time we've had we lots of different breeds on several breeds that we don't know what their breed was they were kind of just mixed breed mug mug if you will and i don't see it in a bad way it's just a we don't know what breed they were but there were some rescue dogs and so i don't think that are training is and i i wanna make sure people realize that are when we talk about training i'm not narrowing it down or or ultra specific to the idea of you have to have a certain type of dog i do think that certain traits inherit trades are nice depending on what you're gonna do with the dog and we put an emphasis on dear dog stuff meaning tracking a game recovery finding deer that otherwise may not be found 'em shed training a we were looking shut antlers there's a lot of these dogs but we also do gung bird dog stuff lots of that you wanna reach over there in the leadoff we've got a dog right behind this right now little puff 'em in she starting the chew a little bit i've got slipped leed on her one of her adjustable leader collars and 'em i've been using it with their user for some doing some work in a peak around the corner and she's catch you in on a little bit i don't want a form of bad habits go ask benefit slipping off he did now she laser and just looks at me she's the new thing that we don't want any kind of get you 'em in on the idea of we got this little project 'em she her name is aero she is aj mellon wash shepherd mix 'em in so i'm gonna be doing a lot of documenting over training on ben is gonna help me with three coordinate cody go backward in the middle of a series right now called cody go back which is teaching that little yellow dog of are of are are friends 'em own her but were training her were teaching here and go back were teaching her handling of that series live on her youtube channel a real interesting and it's developing really well we sent her home over fourth of july weekend 'em she's gonna be back next week but in the meantime we brought in heroin aero is 'em i think she's about fourteen or fifteen may fourteen weeks right now so she's bigger than what i'm used to fourteen weeks she looks a little bit more like a dog 'em then i'm used to at that young of an age usually afford to equal puppies are pretty little 'em she's not big but i think she's she's twenty five pounds something like that but it's got a little bit more size to her 'em she's really a sweet little dog a in tony for less than twenty four hours having her on i consider that she's a very soft dog i i think you know we we blanket that term on retrievers soft or a lot of dr gridlock they're a little bit harder dogs i i don't i think that definition can go across the board as far as breeds go i would say she is a soft little dog saw style 'em i don't say soft in as a negative i like soft 'em i don't need a lot of pressure i don't wanna put a lot of pressure on a dog 'em i don't think you need to i think if it 'em erodes some trust potentially i want dogs at work for me in with me i i think cooperative is a good term for what i look for in dogs at one doesn't wanna work with me 'em i don't want them doing things out of fear i'm not a treat trainer so you're i'm not gonna bribe the dog's do things either i i wanna form habits so she is it 'perfect a little project for us to show that i think the same styler very similar style to what we're doing with their lab 'em is gonna work with this dog i just have confidence and and so it's gonna be a great way a great opportunity for us to share that show at so we're gonna we're gonna documents trained process are objectives and goals with her right now are need to be realistic and so with her owners owners i had this conversation because i feel that it's really important for people understand expectations a no no there's no magic a there's not not not something you can do they're just magically 'em accelerates dogs from a maturity stem from a maturity standpoint or a ability to process things standpoint you can't speed things up with dog training 'em i i pushed the idea we don't train and we raised some similar to how we raise kids you don't train kids we raise it takes a long time a lot of ups and downs it's quite a rollercoaster lots of good stuff but then you run running things at the become issues too and how do you fix those and in a lot of times some of those mistakes or or things that happened the the don't go very smoothly those there opportu great learning opportunities dog's gotta make some mistakes in order to learn a it is a combination of of praise when they're doing the right thing a little bit of pressure when they're doing the wrong thing 'em but i just think there's there's a a balance that were constantly searching for and were just trying i just did a story on instagram and i said replace trainer 'em which is gonna be huge 'em i just think that it's gonna make life so much easier for her owners she's laying on the couch on the dog one bed right now behind me 'em started that last night and she did real well is it now she ran off of it as all dogs will cause why won't they she ran off of it we put it back on it said no no no quarterback no quarterback quarterback and all of a sudden she's super sharp and so within three corrections a no no no and put her back on she gets right today edge and hangs off and she doesn't go and that's when i praise there and tell her you're good dog that's what we were looking for you to do in real quickly she curls up and lays down in that bed so she's been doing a really nice job with that we've introduced her says to some patients a she's not real so far no literally had her lesson twenty growers so one of the things i really stressed the need the have is you gotta have this feeling connection and trust with these dogs in as she comes into your house for the first time i don't know why she would trust or have a lot of connection with me i certainly don't have it with her and i i kind of feel like it's a mutual thing so i need a bill that now take some time so quite honestly for the first couple of days here were not gonna do much of anything we were gonna get to know each she's gonna get to know me i'm gonna get to know her i'm gonna start to develop 'em her trust in i need to trust her a bit 'em so yesterday i was hesitant even take off the league i put on leave we walked around the yard letter to her business this on after her long trip 'em can't test it out of it she's got a real nice little recall a today i had her out near pigeons and put it on her story where she goes up by a pigeon liberal pitching coop with some some birds were training in 'em they're distracting tempting and she thought it was pretty cool stuff pretty interesting and i was able to recall her away from it never come to me and so that was real good brought her in 'em this morning half defeat all the dog so i said all three of our first and she sat there with a little league on and she just watch patiently 'em she came into the house very vocal when she got dropped off she's barking a raise and all kinds of hell 'em she came in and i just don't allow if i were knocking allow i i kind of think that localization is a kind of like a kid a throwing a little bit of a tantrum looking for attention 'em we don't allow it i don't i don't rewarded by giving her attention now sometimes you gotta was attention they're looking for they don't care if it's negative attention they just want attention especially when they're little so she you know she you little bit she apps and i i that's enough a little bit of tone back to her and she has embarked sense and so i do think some barking 'em when would start doing that barking at you it's a very very clear sign of disrespect 'em they are trying to establish the they're they're the boss not on my terms and so and i don't have the get real bully with i just don't allow it and my body language my mannerisms very strong not force will just strong leadership in man they look they look real leader when they find in the fall and so we're gonna we we've already seen i have i've not heard her bark since she's been here with the exception of a kennel bushy does not like her kennel she doesn't create we create trainer dog makes it easy for housebreaking no accidents out of her knock on wood yet it's really a routine is gonna be how we establish that routine of feeding coming out of the kennel going outside right away doing her business coming back in place she's not gonna have the opportunity free romer house i brought her in a earlier today in she immediately we jumped up on the couch and that was a firm a not gonna happen 'em and she looked at me like ooh boy i'm really sorry about that put it back on place and she's fine so she's got she's got a few options she's with me under control 'em either on leader i'll i'll establish a little bit of confidence with their off leaders soon or she's on her place like she is right now curled up in 'em just sleeping just laying there should probably fall asleep you're pretty quick but or she's in a kennel great in last night was killer create a she is used the sleeping with her family a where she came she doesn't i don't think she sleeps in kennel unapproved we proved it last night but she got pretty vocal there a i got up i let you know she went in she was pretty quiet for about ten fifteen minutes then she threw a little tangent wanna get the hell out of there so i waited 'em i had let her out she went to the bathroom right before she went in there so i knew she did not go the bathroom but i waited a she fought it a little bit 'em fought it and barked in kind of stretched a little bit and so i came downstairs and i put a blanket over the top of it just a separate her from other dogs in the distractions she settled in actually pretty good forboding our she got up and start whining and so i heard that i got up i went down and let her out right away she went to the bathroom 'em speed right away porter but brought it back in a quarterback and her kennel and she screamed bloody murder she just didn't like it 'em so she foster ten fifteen maybe twenty minutes i don't even know 'em and then she settled in and she slept most through the night a got up early a five five o'clock issue which is not not a lot later then what we usually between five and five thirty or timing is pretty good 'em got up took outside let it go the bathroom she did really good 'em and she settled in nicely put her in place dressed in the morning 'em so are routine is gonna be different i think then what she's used to she's not gonna have free run in the house 'em my other dogs don't have free run in the house either their own place there in their kennels there with me under control so it's just a routine thing now and i put i put a a story on her instagram were feeding another dog that's another thing we're gonna do is she's gonna eat last so we ate first 'em humans we ate in front of her i fetter other to the other three dogs she sat nicely really nicely and watched respectful little dog 'em so that's really that's that's really nice they've done a nice job with their to this point a kind of establishing that she's she's a she's a good part of the pack she's not gonna be the center of attention jeannot fighting for that all the time which is part personality and it's part cultural and so we need a kerry that on but one of the things that we did was we had her watch the other dogs eat your dog's eight she sat nice and quiet and i mean is low post on instagram at a story i talked about patience this is just an example of patients and so she got the eat last now what i gotta get one of the things i'm gonna be working on is trying to figure out how could i get going in the kennel she really braces against it 'em so as she gets in a feeding routine i'm gonna see how food drives her she doesn't doesn't seem superfood driven to me 'em she ate and i don't and i think part of it is because where it sounded like they had food out for her i i get some text messages back and forth with their owners 'em they fed her it sounded like she had 'em kimball dry kibble all the time and then she's got a like a wet food 'em canned food kind of not can but it's just a little packets but she she feeds a mix of that so what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna change the routine and we're gonna do the same routine we do with our dogs you're gonna feed in the morning we're gonna feed at night i am gonna stick with the kind of wet food that they have they've been giving her 'em eminem mix it with kibble dry kibble and i'm gonna add a little bit of warm water to it is so i want that i want the dog to be able to eat it quickly were gonna give her window of time they eat she's gonna get 'em five ten minutes max in if she leaves the food doesn't finish it leaves at that'll be at i'll pick it up 'em so she may be hungrier a dream that middle stretch of the day because she didn't eat as much in the morning that she would have nibbled on all throughout the day she's gonna get on a routine and what it's gonna do is gonna help us with housebreaking in ensuring that we don't have any issues from from a from an accident standpoint the other thing it's gonna do is allow for us to really get used traveling with her 'em and not messing around the food when we feed are dogs on the go they gotta eat 'cause we got other places to go we've got things you gotta do so we stop we feed they eat back in the kennels were off on the road again this dog's gonna travel quite a bit so we do want to insure that she gets on any quick routine of time e it's gonna it's gonna be better offer i think one of the things is she's gonna thrive on his routine especially at are house 'em were just real routine with these dogs because we have to be a balancing between family kids and work in all that stuff we have to be on a good teen 'em to get the most out of them and i do think they appreciate the stability that way so one of the things that will be doing is feeding her on her routine it's gonna be a little bit different i think when she used to it will take a few days and that's another reason why food now i just don't think he's that valuable to her i think she's she gets it more often than not and so as i as i build up her 'em it will see maybe not but if she builds up this excitement about a real positive thing during the day should be feeding time 'em i'll start feeding her in her kennel 'em door open up when she left the go in there and eat it and so what i'm gonna do is i wanna start to reverse her feelings of this kennel is not in good thing to be this kennels a real safe place he's 'em in place i don't mind being so that's just gonna make life a lot easier when she goes in there and we do have closed the door because she won't fight to get out a she won't be so worried about figuring out how to get out of there should settle in a likely likely fall asleep similar to how she's doing right now on her on her bed a little place kathy we have four so a lot of a lot of things so the one of the things that i just have to realize and be aware of is we just completely 'em ten uprooted this little dog's life a she left something she become very comfortable with over the last six weeks five six seven weeks 'em in were changing it so before i get all excited about let's start working on this this and this let's just get comfortable let's get the dog just start trusting us and having a better understanding of what to expect get some routine going get them to understand the thinking i have some confidence in me 'em it will be it will mirrored 'cause i will gain confidence in them it'll just be a lot easier amuse handler so that's kind of go over the next few days at a minimum she is gonna get go north of us were going up a were going up north to my parents lake a the their place on the lake in were gonna spend the weekend up their fourth of july a we just did a podcast on fourth of july what was the last one right last one we did was on fourth of july the fear of a or the hesitation i have with insurance introduction the gunfire 'em loud noises in more particular so we gotta be real conscious of that this little dog's gonna do some stuff is lousy a decent tracking she indecent jet hunting were gonna get into some of that over the next month a very very basic intro but like i if you follow at any of our stuff i spent so much time building the foundation before we get real formal into the field and that was part of the expectations conversation that we had with their owners i want them to understand look we we gotta build the foundation first in the cool part about this project is gonna be were gonna help them get this foundation start it over the next month 'em we're not keeping this dog the whole time so usually i keeping dogs were clients year eighteen months however long it takes width involvement of owners 'em i just don't think he could change his dogs and handing off i think you have to train the trainers as much or more than you do the dog's the difference with this little project will be real worker for the first month 'em it helps it just helps out from escaping standpoint a her owners are are in africa right now 'em so they're on a hunt so she's with us but when they get back the important part will be training the trainers in transitioning be idea of what we've done what were doing the direction we're going and then what's gonna be really nice is a i'm gonna be able to help work with them to continue the journey i knocking when you're not gonna stay with us 'em but we will hopefully be able to kind of remote helped help them 'em continue the journey i just think that's an important point it can be made with this dog is hopefully similar to what we've done with all the dogs we've documented whether it be live spry whether it's this cody series whether it's 'em ellie when we did ellie live and when we did her sister kimber live and all that stuff on her youtube channel all those dogs are different processes they're different journeys with different dogs they all took a little bit different time amounts of time a the sequencing is a little different it's not like it's not like a a step by step because every dog is so different so this is gonna be a nice mix because of a different breed were gonna work in some remote training when her owners it back and just kind of a fun little project first in i really think the point to be made is my hope is that i can show a a very very similar train style to a dog that you know we've dialed in pretty pretty precise and pretty specific effect from style of dog on and show how it transfers to a totally different style a dog a melon wash shepherd mix so we've got a another working dog 'em just just typically looked at as a different style dial a working dog in a different job in in general 'em all you know the one thing that will remain the same as the jobs ultimately this she's gonna do a very similar to are are little dogs a she's a family family dog first 'em that's gonna require just a lot of good foundational work a she's gonna be able to just gotta be able to go everywhere do everything 'em in be an asset not he is not an issue a she's gonna help the places she's not a treat an issue with in those spots you other than the secondary stuff is in the field tracking game recovery shed hunting 'em those types of specific things more specific doors and your dog's but 'em so excited about it so aero she's got a better ship bigger following and then we do combined on are on everything on her own are page so a so she's got a nice she got a nice following a what is it actually called minutes heroes heroes let me let me look it up three quick because i'm gonna give you guys a heads up on it 'em his or her name her page is aero's adventure life so aero's underscore adventure underscore life a sieve in in you'll see a lot of you see you in you'll see some of this stuff that were putting on are doggone hunter page 'em shared their owners are 'em bone the bone martian boomer hunting so so they're sharing some stuff on their page is well 'em and so we're just gonna try to try to use her as a really good example of train is training regardless of the dog 'em in in our reword training and say raising raising dog is is just like raising kids and that it's they're always learning were always training in the sooners we adapt that mindset and that concept then training action becomes pretty easy 'cause it doesn't taking extra time we just we just incorporating build it your life and that's their plan with aero that they're playing with every dog we have through here 'em whether it be our own personal dogs there any clients so hope this a hope this becomes kind of a fun little series will be posting stuff so so follow along a on are on her different channels doug going hunter stuff to channel morgan document is much of it is we can share as much of it is you can cause i just think slob there's a lot of value in it for folks especially those who have other breeds 'cause i just think this is gonna they were gonna get rid my hope is gonna get rid of these the line and i hear it often especially seminars and you get it through social media stuff is all that works as you're dog's but mine is a different kind of dog my my my dog is this kind it don't won't do that it won't be that calm i hear that all the time this little dog is not not known to be a you know everyone says these numbers dogs are all their so called us that's honored percent genetics i think it's partial she'll genetics i think it's very heavily influenced by the cultural influences around them and so we're gonna show you i i just i just don't think for a second but we can't do it with another type of dog in iran is gonna be a great example of that is my hope so a thank you again for listening little bit different format were gonna get back we've got some more questions that have come in and i've kind of earmarked them through instagram in or face book that we will address as well bending i it'd be recordings more podcasts were just were not gonna do this 'em i actually think we can do some kind of some erupted podcast things to that'll be really easy to do 'em so you're if you're following along with her story there'll be a little bit of a sequence 'em from a podcast standpoint but we're gonna continue with our other podcast stuff as well we're just gonna fit extra ones in a kind of documenting aero's journey here so thank you again so much for listening thank you for your support if you would do the favor if you wouldn't mind leaving us serve you a that helps greatly with us being able to girly awareness and also a if you subscribe to it it just gives you the ability to get these updates and get the new ones when they drop and all that stuff

Introducing: Secret Dinosaur Cult
"The secret thought. Cleared dinosaur. Four Jodi Mitchell doll that issue taco. Dynasty. We should do the do the couples stew with their answering machines, say, when would each? Yeah. Okay. Hello, we so fee and Jodi and our podcast is called secret dinosaur cult. The whole thing? Yeah, I think that's, I think that was a good sort of Twee. We're just mice gowns, make it on nice podcast way to kick off. I think it was good because I think people could. They couldn't see it, but they could sense the panic of having done that before it's where without the audience, it is weird, but he'll say, right. You are listening to secret dinosaur count a comedy podcast in which we try to figure out who we are through the medium of dinosaurs. I am Jodi Mitchell, and this is so fi Hager. Oh, you. Okay. Jurassic made your just try. You really are terrible. Don't even get started. So Jody, how have you been a terrible person. And do need redemption. I do. I really need redemption share with the people. I've never talked about this before. It happened when I was seventeen years old. So it's been brewing away for a while and I would like forgiveness. But also I feel like it's not actually that bad given the context. What I also want is like ackknowledgement that I did the right thing in a way for myself. So what happened was I went to a festival and I went to a section of the festival which was called the coming out ball because I wanted to come out this meat just getting the gayness right in from the start of the podcast gay. So I went to the coming out bar and I came out, which was great. And then some of the Christian boys that we were there with who will wearing leopard-print. Very uncomfortable with the coming out ball, didn't want to be around gay people and made that really clear, and they insisted that we leave the coming out all. So what me and my best friends did is we went to ten in the middle of the night, and we enacted the most ironic punishment that we could think of what it was was to pour all of the free, poppers, that we got out the coming out ball onto the tent in the hopes that they would shit themselves in their sleep. And the smell of black currant followed me for days afterwards. And so only would like to be forgiven for what was inevitably a horrible mess in the tent. I think we're all thinking the same thing. What what is puppa's. So. When a person and a person love their own anus very much. Secret Kikwit dinosaurs. So we have the incredible Harrow brain doing jingles. But with this particular segment, we wanted to create our own. So we always improviser. Yeah, yeah. Do you wanna get away. Daddy yesterday my laugh was filled with necessary child benefit payments. Yesterday I got an in my two year wedding with your new wife and you spelt my name wrong. I can't talk. Did he. So so easy this week. How did you fill your daddy home. I taught myself. I taught myself to like the color. Yellow. Did it work? Did he come back? No. Jodi. How did you feel that this week? I learnt how to pickle my own fruit and vegetables. And did it worked to come back night? Okay. It's not. It's not, but. Secret dinosaur dinosaur. Resembles an Allosaurus, but there were actually some. The structure of the fossils, pelvis, skull, and teeth that seemed very different. So it could actually be a whole new type of dinosaur that you. We just haven't found yet, but the auctioned off for two million euros don't know who it is. It was in really good condition. They had about seventy percent of the skeleton. So in the auction, they said that the person who bought it could put the name down. S that that they could name the dinosaur was I feel like it's a very risky move. Yeah, just give to someone then we'll have to see Rex with the triceratops. Have Alan. Now what we can say about this particular skeleton, I was trading who don't have a name for it yet. Not from Alan. I think it's fine. That's like a placeholder. Is that this dinosaur doesn't know what it is, and it's been really, really expensive. So our topic for today is therapy. Another seamlessly. Secret. Kikwit dinosaur collared. When we first started setting up the podcast, just in our national research, we discovered that there is an amazing thing which is dinosaur erotica. So usually what we do is we find each find a story that we then read as I good night story that this particular episode, I found one that I thought Jodi should read. He's not seen it yet. You have time to prepare, but just this was so Pethick I didn't get like the all of them get the title and I didn't get the author name. So it's just like, just that's. So would you cat to? I'd love. In the fourteenth week of the expedition tension is high. It's at quickly become apparent that the trip back in time to the early Jurassic period in Scandinavia was a flop. Many of the crew members had assumed that they would that they would get off the time. She wonder straight into a fight between two t rexes, but instead they walked around for fourteen weeks without seeing any dinosaurs, they were getting restless. Most of them were paleontologists and the. And they're on official business doing scientific research for the government. A few celebrities that had enough money to purchase a seat in the time machine with them mainly for the Instagram followers. But one celebrity in particular was there for other reasons reasons he could not possibly tell anyone reasons. He wasn't even sure he would admit to himself. Going for a walk Hollywood's. My cousin sent out an announcement card in the mail saying that they are expecting their first child in twenty twenty. One thought was beautiful. I posted on my instagram story. And tag them with a big congratulations. And then i got a call from my aunt saying that they were mad at me because it was not my place to post the announcement. Hey sent you the announcement. Yes so it was already out there. Yes it's announcement. Card is an announcement right. Figured they announced it. They told everybody or she would say that because both you and her her being shannon are addicted to your social media stuff. Always let me. Let me finish to do with that. They are looking for content. So are you. it's called the mojo in the morning. Instagram only on the shows instagram. Which he did it on them as personal right. But that's toe. They already made the announcement. It wasn't even looking for content. I was trying to just do a quick congrats. This is how i communicate now tag them and congratulate them. I don't. I don't talk to every cousin every week on the phone so was like okay but i had to delete it because they were very upset. Apparently everybody in the family or if got to me a cousin in another state then. I figured they already told everybody. Important in immediate family and everybody else just a text message saying to them. That's what it is to me an instagram stories. A text message saying i'm celebrating. But that's i think that's so that's that's a group. Text message is a message to such a beautiful card and photo that i was like. Oh my gosh. The way they did it with their little holding up. I just it was personal social media so it wasn't like you're doing it right the whole i didn't do it on the mo- joined the morning way to your your family knew i was like the world needs more happy news anytime. I get something fun like that. I'm excited to share that joyful and not depressing twenty twenty eighth. Yeah i don't know. I think that Would have done this you. I know you're not really a sarah. No i would not have died out. Because here's the thing. I would have personally picked up the show ya i would've. I would've personally call them. Did that as well or i would have. I would have text them and said something to over spike again. Already this texture. If you're texting. I want you to call in. What's the phone number mojo. Eight four four mojo live for six five six five four because this texture saying they made the announcement to spike not the whole world. While i'm sorry they don't turn out one announcement you pronounce a one hundred cards and you send them to everyone you know and love and again. That person was not listening. Because we just said it wasn't on your the spike. Social media was on your personal families. No no it was. It was on my spike instagram. Radio said no. It was my personal. It wasn't mo joined the morning it was radio. Radio spot thousands of people that are already fifty three thousand. But you know just saying it was like i was excited for them if you if you send out announcements. It's called an announcement your announcing to the world. There's no more secret. Yeah fair game. What do you think diana while it kind of depends on. It's like posted. It assumed you got it because maybe some family that lives out of state across the country maybe having fourteen. Yeah that's a good point that it immediately then he probably said withheld it for a few more days if that was the case she waited awhile then. It's their day and you're excited. You're congratulated him on the new baby out over the weekend. I'm having to do that. Don't say that's not your place tarrant. Get excited erica. What do you think like mistaken I was just gonna say that it's possible that maybe she's friends coworkers or something on instagram. And like show up as on her account like tagged in it. And i mean i kinda relate because i'm like fourteen weeks pregnant. Nobody at my job knows yet either. So it's possible that you kind of blew up her spot in that way. I texted this. And i totally agree. Why would they spend money on an announcement and not want people to see. If i spend money printing something in that kreps expensive by the way people better posted tag me person said i just can't imagine that any of her co workers in tom's river new jersey are following a radio. Dj and talk show host in detroit michigan. Like what are the odds. Leith what do you think about this. It's not about the bike about them. Making the choice denounce to who they wan- so when everybody gets their announcements are they supposed to not talk about it. Not tell anybody keep it. Keep it in the envelope. Did they write On the outside. But you know it's not the new radio spike. You know things were not to the family and if family understand but it didn't come despite the you know. I mean they didn't send me your content it and send me a text and say hey. Guess what we're expecting a baby. They send an announcement one of hundreds. They probably send out to everybody they know and love. He don't want to say this because my family did the same thing to me. When we had like pregnant they announced to the whole world. But my wife was not ready yet wayne. She sent an announcement. See that's the difference your family. How did they announce it. They went on all. Social media is not knows. Not only how did you find out that you guys were pregnant. Oh we just send them a message. Exactly it's the same thing shannon. No message private message. Not an announcement not a car even announced it to everybody at this family event out. We don't know if we do know because i was table. Eight hundred nine hundred giant wedding so they got the table eighteen and senate to me. They printed up five hundred of those announcements. Obviously from from them being upset by this they were upset by it. So they're upset. they should be they. They should have the right to be able to be upset. No they shouldn't they should say. Oh my gosh families excited for us. Look at that as he's sharing the joy of our new arrival. When's the last time that you shared the joy of anything with this this triangle. And look what it got me elizabeth. Hello hi hi. Hi i just wanted to say i mean. I don't think it's about the timing of the like who found out and someone found out from spike posting at hadn't known previously. I think some people are pretty sensitive about having themselves with our pictures posted on social media without like their approval teams. There live the public. You know. I like if i took a picture of them hanging out at my house i could see them getting mad me posted. This is the photo they chose to print. And send out the hundreds of people you know. This was their favorite photo. They loved it. I'm feeling a little salty. And this one. Because i hate some of the stuff that he posts. What's going on janna. Hillel are you guys. Good jan agenda. The similar thing happen to you. Okay so i agree with fight in the fact that you know you're excited you wanna post it and share the joy by yes. Something kind of somewhere did happen It wasn't Picture announcement like that but my best friend. Her sister got pregnant and she had told me because of a situation you know that she felt i needed to know at the moment and i assume that okay. You know. Parents and sibling all new. And my friend and i were talking and she said something to me. She's like whoa. Wait way and i go. Oh you didn't know that. When her sister found out she could not believe that. I had built a bean so my best friend that she was pregnant because she's like we weren't telling the whole family yet. I was like oh my god. I'm so awful about it. But i also agree with the caller before elizabeth. Because they're nowadays. There are a lot of people who are very wishy. Washy and stuff and very sensitive about their stuff being posted especially. They don't do it themselves. Well that's two on her social media. Did she have anything about the pregnancy. No right so if they're not posting it and seeing now are you now go go. Look look and see. Maybe they know they. They had to have now. Well i don't know but look at the but here's the thing like again. This is apples and oranges. Because in that situation obviously people should start preface. The whole thing with. Hey we're not telling everybody yet but guess what works except expecting a baby in that situation. You probably have announcements that. Say that. we're not telling everybody you know. You don't send announcement you don't want everyone to know. Yeah this is an announcement cassidy last call here. I got to move on after this. What's up i wanted. To ask like li- he was like why he was so upset about that. Like why he was upset about them being upset about it. Well i wasn't upset. Well yeah. I was upset because they were telling me they're mad and they were upset at me. For how dare. I share that news and i was like you shared the news like it's called and announcing a baby announcement you're announcing it to the world. So yeah just like. How could you be mad at me. If you're about to get twenty lights on the as mad. Because i was trying to be excited for them i was like so happy further news and they turned even the most happy announcement into some kind of miserable twenty. I'm posting that spikes upset on my instagram. right now. let everybody knows. How do you have a great day cassidy. Thank you you too.
