"The no hitter was corby burns annoyed that he would have been annoyed. I mean he had one more inning against the indians he was completely dominant fourteen strikeouts. He only had one walk. Whose only at a hundred fifteen pitches. Which i guess in this day and age is a lot but still want one inning. I mean it's it's a hater. Nine pitches i mean. Is that really going to be the difference between something. He can always kind of hanging his hat on. I guess i feel like this close to the playoffs. You don't take chances with you know one of erases you you you got the. That's gotta be their focus right and not on a no hitter. I mean yeah. I think it's probably a conversation. I wonder how much burns had you know whether he got say in that or not. And i'm not sure i should ask. Some brewers fans about that. Well the fans were certainly not happy. It seemed like a lot of people. Were mad which always of happens you know when When somebody gets pulled you know. And they're on the verge of an accomplishment like that but like. I don't know this is where we're at though i mean that's like i think we're we see that happen more often and then you have to fall back. On the consolation prize of what was a combined no hitter he was part of a combined. No hitter club now. Does corbin burns get to say. I dunno on his like can he say he's thrown a no hitter. Not really he could say oh no hitter he did. Yeah definitely can't. He's sorry core part of a no hitter that was thrown by the team. That a lot less cool. They're not going to put that on his hall of fame plaque. Necessarily you know like was part of a team accomplished no hitter and september twenty twenty one. Whatever i don't know it's it's just seemed so against the spirit of the original spirit of the no hitter and of just you know starting pitching in general as you take that ball and they got a pride out of your cold dead hand You know to get you out of that game It's like the jack morris school. I don't know i feel like we've swung the pendulum so far in the opposite direction. That now i'm like yearning for the old days of like the bulldog pitcher that's says screw you. I'm not coming out of this game. No hitter coming. I i agree. I understand that. also though. If i'm a brewers fan. I want this team to be i want. I want to win a world series. And i miss the team. That could really could really push to go far in in the postseason. I just like one game a no hitter. It's like cool but very fleeting and also as we've said not that big of a deal anymore..

That's going on here but say number two over the weekend. Of course we had our ninth no hitter thrown here in the twenty twenty one season. This one was by. The milwaukee brewers. It was the first no hitter in team history since nineteen eighty seven. It's been since one nia vase on april fifth. Nine thousand nine hundred eighty seven against the orioles but the knife no hitter. This one was a combined. No hitter by corbin burns in josh. Hader gordon burns went to i. Eight innings of the outing. He was at a hundred and fifteen pitches through those eight innings and he came out after the game and said he had to fight to go back out there for the eighth inning. So he knew he probably wasn't going to win the battle going back out for the ninth. But josh hader came in to finish off the no hitter and complete the outy but gordon burns. He was perfect through seven innings and ultimately a walk in the seventh eliminated the perfect game and made it. Of course the ninth no hitter the nine. No hitters is the most in a major league baseball season in the history of baseball topping. Eighteen eighty four for most in a year. Now this is pending the inclusion of the negro leagues statistics. So this could fluctuate not your how many no hitters were thrown during any of these other seasons. Where eight no hitter seven no hitters were thrown to possibly get to that nine or ten mark but the ninth no hitter as of right now certainly a record when it comes to major league baseball during a year again. The first one since nineteen eighty-seven quick math twenty four years ago for the milwaukee brewers the victory in this game also pushed the brewers to a franchise best thirty three games over five hundred and had their magic magic number down to seven so burn. See fantastic it came out and say he came out and said pushing. The pitch count probably wasn't the smartest idea They're really battling towards october. And that's when things are more important than coming out after eight innings was the right move so i'm sure he fought back a little bit in the moment but after hater was able to get outs. Twenty five six and seven. Everything was good for burns and he was happy with the result so burns now on the year. After these eights no hit innings. He improved at ten four on the season. He has eight to five. Era in twenty five starts. He's got one hundred and fifty two pitched two hundred and ten strikeouts in a point. Nine one whip our walks hits per innings pitched he also has a thirty five point four percent strikeout rates which after this start was tied with max scherzer for the lead in baseball. He has a seven point one fan graphs calculated. War wins above replacement and a national league. Best four point nine percent walk rate. Of course this is. The guy who earlier in the year set the major league baseball record for consecutive strikeouts without a walk at fifty eight so corbin burns continues to push his name. That national league cy young conversation and every outing he's been better and better and it certainly fascinating to see if he can continue to push down the stretch here and have his name at the top of the list when it comes to that conversation but i did want to look at some facts and figures from the brewers no hitter. I always liked to dive into some of the history. That's taken place. Some of the numbers basically how it he volved how they were able to get it done. How dominant ultimately was the no hitter itself and born burns had fourteen strikeouts in this outing again. Up in his season total to two hundred and ten he had a career. High one hundred fifteen pitches which they didn't wanna push him they're out for that ninth-inning so But in a year packed with no hitters burns and haters no hitter certainly looks like one of the most dominant and Burns in hater. Bring major league baseball second longest team. No hitter drought to inet. The brewers had played five thousand. Four hundred and seventy three games between the eva's no no against the orioles in eighty seven in the combined. No hitter that. Took place on saturday night. The majors longest no hitter. Drought currently belongs to the cleveland indians. So the cleveland guardians they have not had a no hitter since len barker back in nineteen eighty one. And the brewers again where second on that list and now second place goes to the toronto blue jays. Dave sti- are steeb on september. Second nineteen ninety three one against the indians back in the day. So other brewers my goodness five thousand. Four hundred and seventy three games in between knows ends the second longest drought in major league baseball. Once again this was the ninth no hitter this year which is a major league record. I've talked to you guys about every one of so shout out to baseball for giving me content here to talk about when it comes to no hitters twenty twenty one season but burns ater authored the sixteenth combined no hitter in baseball history and this was the second combined no hitter here in twenty twenty one the cubs earlier this year against the dodgers back. In the month of june through a combined no hitter there were also two combined no hitters back in two thousand and nineteen had happened twice in major league baseball. Once in two thousand nineteen the astros in the angels had combined no knows thrown that year and then in nineteen ninety. You had the braves in orioles do it all the way back in the early ninety s. It was the first time for the indian slash guardians. Now we're going to get to another style with them later. It was the first time in team history that they had suffered at the hands of a combined. No hitter the Indians are getting a lot of practice being on this side of knows but man the first time they had done it for a combined no hitter but speaking of the indians there the first team in major league baseball history to be no hit three times in a single season when you are playing the indians the percentages of you throw a no hitter that day or higher than any other team in the history of major league baseball three times already this sees it they have been no hit and this also doesn't count the seventeen no-hitter that was thrown against them on july seventh by the tampa bay rays so but this number at three and a half for three and seven nights. They've been no hit three nine inning games and one seven inning game this year. The indians in guardians haven't been able to muster up a hit and they're the first team in major league baseball to have that happen to them in one. Season brewers manager. Craig counsel of course was tagged with making the tough decision to take burns out after the eighth inning..

"Hit one eighty eight with the cubs to fifty year before two thirty eight the year before so to fifty three during his time in washington but all the way up to three forty nine so far with the red sox so he has been a fantastic edition for boston at the deadline. Next on the list. I have jorges oh layer with the atlanta braves. I mean the outfield editions in atlanta have gone very very well for them after they lost. Ronaldo kunia but just looking at jorges so layer. I mean during his time in kansas city this year in ninety four games he was sitting one ninety two with a two eighty eight on base percentage. He had thirteen home. Runs in ninety four games thirty seven rb swell. What he's done in atlanta has been extraordinary. I mean only twenty five games. He's got seven home runs so seven home runs in twenty five games for fifteen. Rbi's and thirteen for thirty seven in ninety four games in kansas city. it's certainly been rejuvenating. I so layer. During his time in atlanta he hit one ninety two in kansas city. He's hitting two eighty three in atlanta on base percentages. Three ninety six against strikeouts to walks. He's walked eighteen times to twenty one strikeouts well in kansas city. He had thirty eight walks in ninety. Seven strikeouts so the guy isn't chasing out of the zone hitting balls hardee's hitting for power extra-base hits. He's been everything they could've asked for. And more so far down there in atlanta the next guy on the list is a bit of a surprise tyler anderson he's been very good for the seattle mariners since his trade over from pittsburgh he's started six games for them and he's pitched to a three one eight. Era now again. That's about as good as you can expect from tyler anderson. In pittsburgh he was five and eight with a four three five and as a number four or five starter. You're thinking to yourself. Hey that's pretty good too so to throw two three one eight. Era in six starts is just fantastic. He has a one in one record for the mariners but they couldn't have asked for more after adding him earlier at the deadline. Speaking of the mariners. You have abraham toro who they added from the houston astros in a couple of deals so touro for the mariners have been has been very good as well offensively and twenty twenty one his time with houston. He hit two eleven in thirty. Five games nine walks. Twenty-one strike out six home runs well in thirty games first seattle. He's got three home runs twelve rbi's and he is sitting three thirteen so his average is up. One hundred points during his time with the mariners on base percentage. It three eighty eight once again. Strikeouts walks have gotten much better. Eleven walks to fourteen strikeouts compared to nine and twenty one during his time in houston he is thirty six for one fifteen so far so he looks very good he. He may be the third baseman for seattle in the post. Kyle seager era as again. He has been a fantastic move for the mariners. So those two deal certainly working out for them out there. In seattle on the flip side of the mariners. You have kendo grave men now with houston their relief pitcher now. He's been good in both spots. This is one where. I certainly can't complain. He maybe it was even better in seattle but he has been excellent for houston. He was four no in seattle with a point eight two well during his time in houston he has one and with the one point five zero. He's allowed two earned runs in twelve innings. He hasn't allowed a long ball yet. He's got fourteen strikeouts to one walk during his time in houston so he continues to pound the zone and be on an absolute tear this year and houston has fortified that bullpen and put them squarely in the conversation of being a team. That can win the american league and represent that conference in the world series now to our top four at number four. I have trade turner. He's been excellent during his time. For the dodgers now with washington. He was very good as well. He hit three twenty. Two eighteen home runs forty. Nine rb is in ninety six games. Well he's picked up re left off in l. a. Twenty one games in three twenty five up from three twenty two is on. base percentage is pretty much identical. he's got Let's see here to home. Run seven rb is. He's got five stolen bases in twenty one games already for the dodgers. So he's been fantastic at the top of the lineup there. He's provided that dynamic leadoff hitter that they've been missing in la. Since mookie. betts went down. He has been very very good out there for the dodgers and number three. I got startling. Marty for the oakland ace. I mean this guy. What he's doing on the base paths is unbelievable. Twenty to steal stirring his time in miami in sixty three games while in twenty eight games in oakland. he's already got twenty steals. He has yet to be caught stealing a base. He is twenty four twenty during his time in oakland. Absolutely fascinating on the year. He is forty to forty five in stolen bases. Just awesome to watch. He hit three. Oh six in miami. While he's sitting three forty two during his time in oakland he had seven home runs in sixty three games. He's got to in twenty eight games fourteen. Rbi's compared to twenty five during his time in miami. So not only has he been good offensively at the dish but he has been excellent on the base pasco and twenty for twenty and stolen bases during his time with the ace and number two. I have chris. Bryant's he certainly seems to be rejuvenated. Out there and san francisco. He hit two sixty seven with the cubs. He sitting to sixty eight so far with the giants on base percentage of three eighteen. He's got three stolen bases already in twenty two games he has. Let's see here. Six home runs and twenty. Two games for thirteen. Rb is and again it. Looks like he is He's back on top right. he's six home runs. This month and august surpasses total and his final forty games with the cubs so he had five in his final forty and he's got six already in twenty two games with the dodgers so he's been much healthier and he's recorded eleven barrels hitting the ball in the sweet spot which is tied for fifth most and major league baseball since the start of august and ben a great move there for the giants as they continue to lead the nfl west but number one on the list. I gotta go with max scherzer. He has been absolutely lights out. Since going over to the dodgers he was very good in washington. Don't get me wrong. He was eight four with a two seven six era in one hundred and eleven innings well with the dodgers he is four and five starts with a one five five he ra. He is allowed five. Earned runs in twenty nine innings. He's got forty one strikeouts in those twenty nine innings to only five walks. He has certainly been as advertised. He has been the best starter potentially in all of baseball since the deadline. So you as padres fans out there thinking you were getting servicer now seeing him absolutely dominate further dodgers that has to be a tough pill to swallow but the dodgers man again four. No and five starts to a one five five. Era that's certainly looks like the top move of the deadline and asked to put the dodgers at the top of the conversation when it comes to world series favorites with him in trade turner. But was there anybody out there. I missed anybody you would add to this list. Let me know in the comments. Check us out on social media. Dm me on twitter. Who did i leave out. I'd love to hear from you guys but we'll step aside one last time here for a word from one of our sponsors one of our sisters shows but when we come back. We're talking news notes. "A little bit laura's gory junior in the bottom part of the lineup has been putting up good numbers corey dickerson as well. All those guys we mentioned you can be encouraged about those guys but at the same time they just aren't able to come through in the big moment so i don't think they're gonna turn it around all of a sudden and i don't really have faith in them doing what they need to do against an easy opponent poly baltimore and we've seen what happens whenever the blue jays win. It seems like other teams win and whenever they lose it seems like other teams. So i don't know why that luck would change in this series. So i'm still not confidence going to happen again. There's a shred of hope. But i don't think it will happen. Where do you guys stand on. The the the likelihood of the blue jays perhaps running the table in this upcoming series and getting some good luck in terms of the red sox and athletics and mariners. Losing see if there's one thing that being a toronto sports fans taught me it is never make many bets but because things go all all over the place but if you're the blue jays the one thing that you can worry about is if you win against the orioles or beating the orioles and i think it's realistic. I mean i will say. I'm a bit nervous to see here in june you start. I haven't said that. Probably ever since he's come to the blue jays is the as creeping up close to four. Now i'm a little nervous about that. But considering that stephen mats and robbie ray or starting i think that's That's legitimate shot to win those games and we we've obviously. We saw his fourteen strikeout performance. Robbie ray was fantastic. Stephen matt's has been really good since the all-star breaks and i mean with robbery like that performance. That's not a one off that's one of what is it thirty or twenty five fantastic. Starts this season so i think they have a shot at winning. I'll be completely honest. That's the only thing that they can focus on. The one thing they need is a lot. Better offense maybe that offense comes from springer not going to say that. That's a saving grace. But i think it's a legitimate chance that he comes back and he helps them even if he doesn't. I still think that the offense could turn things around but the problem is is. You're also hoping that other teams lose. I will say it's probably really reasonable to expect a game or two out of The the red sox lose the rest of the teams honestly. I think it's a gamble. If you're the blue jays and your bluejays fans all you can really do is focused on winning. And if they win maybe they pick up a game if they lose maybe they lose a game. That's i think the only thing that we can focus on. So i know scoreboard watching his fun. But i think the only thing that the blue jays can do is focus on their own scoreboard. Because at this point it doesn't matter if you win or lose your it does obviously but you also need other teams to win and lose so or to primarily to lose. So it's it's definitely tough. I mean you're not the odds of one team winning it's the odds of one team. Winning multiplied by the odds of teams losing or like three or four teams losing. So it's going to be tough a lot of things. i mean. a lot of things have to go right but all you can really focus on. If you're charlie montoya your that the the the blue jays get some games against the orioles. Gotta take two three. That's i think that's a guaranteed..

"The al. Cy young race is right now. So joe. And i on on the show have been talking about garrett cole and the value on plus three hundred when he came back from From beyond the copay list a few weeks ago and when it's an excellent year land is a really good pitcher. i. I love watching last night. He just say what a competitor is on the mount. But i. i didn't feel watching this. You're like he's having like overwhelming die. Young ear kind of reminds me Bartolo colonie wanted with the angels. It was like. I guess it's cologne this year. I guess but now. I can't take my eyes of what robbie ray is doing guys. Toronto fourteen strikeouts last night we. He's a guy. I've always thought you know. He had a really good stuff and he had the one year in arizona. Were good but then he kind of fell off and the jays really smart trade last year to bring them in and try to polish them up and i find him to be the dark horse in this and i think at seven to one. He's worth a look because if he used pitching like he did last night. I think he could feel this from coal. And and certainly from laflin. Yeah and you're you're talking about him being the diamondbacks and the ad that era under three one year was that twenty sixteen or seventeen. It was somewhere in that range. Where he just. I mean he looks like that would be a really good pickup for the raise if they can make that happen and they always seem to find other teams talent that they don't want but should you know like we were just talking about that. How the raise always seem to pinpoint guy. I still feel like lynn is. Is the winner here. I know he's the favorites. And i'm i'm surprised that it's gone this way. I kind of thought he would fall off by now. But i don't know if that happens for him in the final month of the season. Yeah the only thing. I wonder about and i don't think a fall off. I just wonder as we get into. September with the white sox. How larussa is gonna play. This is home field important to them. They're always seems kinda within the same wind range. The raise astros white sox. Anyone could end up with home field as a matter them or are they going to start resting guys. They point back on in That and you know coal can't do that. The yankees are gonna have to finish this thing into the final week. Certainly robbie right. He can't do that he's going to have to push too. So that's the one thing. i wonder about with lynn. Maybe that final starter to. It's it's way back on innings. Maybe skips one as they really set themselves up for the playoffs art show. We have about two minutes left here in the segment. What's your take on the eagles this year. What do you think. Philadelphia's this season they're gonna be better than people think i find it pretty amazing. Everyone is just decided. They're bad Obviously terrible year last year but the eagles rarely stay down and you know it especially in this division. You've gotta be able to block up front. There's always good pass rushers. It's always knock them out. Track them out division the nfc. And i said it's a couple of weeks ago. And i believe it. I don't think any team in the nfc east as a better combination of o. Line dealing we know the washington. Football team has the d. lie. And you know the giants have a good defense. But i think if you look at the two units upfront. I said. Eagles had the best combination so if they say healthy and they didn't last year that a crazy managers on the online if they healthy. I think they're competitive. I think they're in this division. I think they go over their win. Total of six and a half. And i think they're about an eight when teen kind of a transition here Who knows i mean the nfc's that might keep the minute right till the end we saw last year. Obviously it with a losing record. So i think they're a decent feeling better that people think joe julia post a daily nine to nine. Am to noon eastern time right here. I'm becky well and wip down in philadelphia. show appreciate. "What if they don't could he get fired. Yes listen the best way to present. Prevent that from happening is to after being down to go kick ass. And they did. And he made some great decisions down the stretch on his on how to rotate the personnel. And the things. They did and make adjustments after being with another being down to the sons. Yeah he deserves it and good for him. And good for milwaukee If if now if they fired him there have been people standing in line to hire them at the time. Yeah he would. You can't fire guidance. To right he earned. And i have no problem extending mike boot and holzer and good for him because there was a lot of duress in pressure and his team came through thank goodness he has good players maximize season. Yeah oh what's that you said. You always keep a that wins a thirst and the truth is he also did it under duress because what people were saying about him but he didn't pay attention. You just coached and when you coach and do the right thing. Good results happen when you got good players and bingo. He's a world champion and new money and good for him. Sports talk seven ninety. Tyler's ten continues also check this out. I should warned you. Sean only cares about cold. hard facts. Back to sean salisbury. Show on sports talk. Seven ninety s. tyler's ten continues. Here on the sean salisbury. Show over rated all real quick heavy t before we jump into this Had a question. About and i don't know what the rest of the the tyler's ten is but had a question about it and our g and in houston about vacs and the mask requirements. I'm assuming as far as i know. It was asked on twitter. And wouldn't you know right when i'm asking this the twitter's refreshing and you can't open it So i can give credit. Now get credit when it does open. but asking. if there's an energy in the houston texas there's a mask or vacs mandate and i don't believe so matter of fact governor rabbit is put out mandates that you can't do it Companies school wise. That's a battle. But i don't think spars to my knowledge. I don't think there's any it's jeremy. Excuse me jeremiah wheeler. He wanted to know if it would be short-sighted to announce change rules and a passport requirements. As i as far as i know right now there is no passport requirement or forced mask requirement. Vaccines show attica dealer stating net. Just show up now. University of florida and georgia ball said there will be no mandate. There will be no mass. They're indoor outdoor not doing it for their students there. I've done it for the players. Lsu and oregon going in a different route So we'll see what the rest of that'd be more to follow. That will do it. And there'll be more to follow the walt but energy right now. Don't think you have to concern yourself with a vaccine passport awareness mascot stadium at least as far as i know unless something changes and i don't know if they can change it on the fly. They probably reserve the right change anytime they want. The question is will they that certain places. They're not all right tyler. Which got all right. So he mentioned this kid earlier. The little league world series on and south dakota star gavin. where he's been the talk of williamsport. Since the regional stage of the world series he's tossed four no hitters. Has a hundred fourteen strikeouts only allowed six walks and one hit while facing one hundred and thirty two batters now. We mentioned that he has a chris. Sale style pitching motion in which he pitches more like an infielder throwing the ball as opposed to the traditional pitching motion with a potential bright future ahead of him. Should he switch up the pitching motion to preserve his arm or should he keep doing what is working for him but with the hardest thing to do. How change with yeah. You can't change mechanics of that. He's at the cusp now. When i was playing baseball at that age. Because i've been doing it for that. You played so much i was. You couldn't have changed your your. That's why it's important to instill proper mechanics early right. When they're six they pick all start throwing it you try to. Let's try to get to this arm angle. You can't do the same for everybody when people ask. What do you train. No you look at a quarterback you might be different than him when it comes to were his mechanics lion years and it may be six inches arm angle difference but that's where he lives in a matter of fact. His shoulder hurts more if he's in a certain line years. Yeah so it's not. There's no there's no everybody's got to do it one way but when you look at it you start to look at strain. And the the the the past how people do it and what they've suffered from at twelve people always say well. Why can't matt stafford changes mechanics. When he's a adopted because he'd go to helena handbasket can't do that and now you change his lower feet to get him in better position but he's made plenty a great throws out. Why would i change success. And he doesn't have shoulder issues. Rotator cuff issues bernie. Closer was a sidearm guy. And then you go to the perfect mechanics brady. It's fine but he's now at the right now. Twelve he's had success to try and change his arm. Angle may change everything about his game even twelve. And i know we so specialize now and all this stuff but you get in with a guy like tom house or somebody who understands the bio mechanics of the throwing motion and if you want to tinker with it in an off season when he's not playing right now you go touch it. He's dominating you want to go win a little league world series and he gets to the point said what's the strain and you keep keep an eye on it and you talk to people that know more about the bio mechanics of an arm but some guys and he may goes holkar and not have one song trouble. Yeah you know. I'm not putting that on and not going to be knocking to borrow trouble. But the second you start to change drastic changes in certain things. A lotta people can see you see guys at golf in their twenty five thirty trying to make a swing change. Sometimes it works out a lot of times you. Don't they end up going back to what they always do. Right trying. I will never try to downplay. His he's having a great success. I just. I've never been talked. We talked about this form. Never been a little league world series fan because at that age we were playing bigger fields by big way further base. Pass for the back mound like they play on on a field for roy williams. Kids are like four years younger than where they should be playing on bigger fields nonni viewpoint on two hundred foot fence playing on a fifty foot base or whatever forty five foot mound like short. The question wins the wins the chair when they hit eleven or twelve playing. I think you know way bigger. Yeah we're i think we're playing eighty foot basis at that point and now when you take into moving back to see as he grows older and gets to high school in sixty feet six inches and whether pitching from now added with the. Hey everybody's had to adjust at some point. I hope nothing happens to him. Because he shares a joy to watch pitch. Yeah that's cool a blast. He's really really good. And let's hope that This young fella gets to enjoy this. I got you better be really good to hit him because not a whole lot of people touch him of the thirty outs that he has in the little league world series so far this year muslim. Damn near all about four. It's crazy so to tell you that he needs to be some at that age. Kids that are in the batter's box terrorist are sitting in the on-deck circle like or before the game or like. Oh hell near the intimidation factor. Kicks although they're competitive and tough. Every kid has that questioning. Can i hit this guy. And i mean so. We'll see what this kid's phenomenal player. All right what else you got brother so. Espn released an article. That i found was really interesting. it says what. Mlb players would change about their sport and they actually pulled twenty big leaguers and ask them what they would change about sport so they asked him a couple of questions. I'm gonna ask you guys the same ones. Just gimme a simple. Yes or no. And i'll tell you what the results of the big leaguers were is either the pace or length of games in baseball a problem. Yes.

"Reporter and producer brand. Be dot com and sarah was thinking about you and your mom last night watching that giants and mets game playing out the mets getting their guts ripped out and the seventh inning taiwan walker throwing a water bottle. He obviously unhappy the mets. Are you know this is a critical time for them. The giants continuing to play well. What was the date. What's the dynamic when a game like that is going on between you being a mets fan in your mom being a big giants fan. Well i have to say we were at the game last night so That dynamic was playing out in our section. My mother is she is such an incredible fan. She was so stressed. Out in that ninth inning. All i wanted was for the giants to win. Because i did not want her to be upset. I mean you know. This was their first game. My parents first game since september. Twenty nineteen we went to a marlins mets game back then but we hadn't gotten to a game at any point yet. This year is the first time. I was able to get some great tickets. We went and all. I want for my mom to see her team. Which is the best team in baseball winning game. That is all. I wanted as we walked into city field and she was so stressed out. When jake mcgee walked brandon nimmo. I have never seen her slap her thighs so hard. She was so stressed out and after the game she kept apologizing for how emotional she wasn't. I said no. This is amazing. This is what baseball is about bringing out those emotions so everything you are imagining was happening in the stands at city bill boss night Boy boy what fun. Yeah what on that must have been. What is your mom's passion all right. Let's play the numbers game number. Three so number. Three is five thirty so speaking of the giants brandon crawford. You know we saw in person Last night and we talked about him. You and i think a couple weeks ago. And i wanted to check in on a stat that i mentioned then and smother stuck with his season so he continues to have. This incredible season. Didn't merit taking out. I'll walk there. I'm not so sure but regardless brandon proper is going to get mvp votes. He is having a season like any season he's ever had in his career so to that point he's slugging five thirty. He entered the twenty twenty one season with a three ninety two career. Slugging percentage that is very very different than the season. He is having this year and only three players in ale. An nl history have slugged. Five hundred or better. In season at age thirty four older after entering the year with a career slugging percentage under four hundred so he is on pace to do that. He's been up there pretty much all year. And if you take a look at what he's doing. I mean it sounds so simple right. But he's hitting the ball really hard much harder than he's ever done under sokha's tracking and he is a career low ground ball percentage so it just seems like the giants have really unlock. this idea. You know swing a little bit up more and hit the ball harder and it's going to end up a whole a lot better for him so number two number two. I don't even know which number two pick for this game last night. This padres dodgers game which came home and watch that but there were five scoreless innings in that game. So you asked me about this this morning. Five innings neither team scored in the extra innings without runner on second. Obviously we had not seen a game even close to this long under those rules. The prior longest game was thirteen innings. There'd been two games. The went thirteen this year. Two games a went thirteen last year. This team went sixteen innings for anybody who was asleep. Like you probably should have been during this game so before last night. The most scoreless completing so the top and the bottom of the inning in extras. That had happened under these roles was three and that was a game on august. Seventh twenty twenty between the astros. And the as i remember watching this game. It was early under the new roles. Now remember thinking. How is nobody scoring here. So in the tenth eleventh and twelfth ending of that game neither team scored and then the thirteenth they both scored in the as walked it off. That was the only time that there had been even more than two complete scoreless innings at any point under these roles and of course we got five last night so just completely in not what we're used to under these roles. We hadn't seen the sixteen th inning since september. Twenty four twenty nineteen. There were actually two games. That went that long on that day but obviously that was before there was a run around second number one so number one is five twenty one and that's what. Aj pollock has slugging this year. I don't even know again if that's the best number to call out here. But you mentioned to me having a really underrated season. And he is so. I just wanted to talk about everything that he's Doing this year so he's slugged five sixty six last year and i think we started to see the beginnings of the player. He's looks a like this year but he's never score a never slugged even above five hundred any season of his career even when he got. Mvp votes back in thousand fifteen. That was four ninety eight slugging. He at three fifteen this year. But i would say that this season. He's having his most similar to that he he was fourteenth. Mvp it wasn't like he was getting serious consideration. He won't necessarily this year either but everything that he's doing on that doger's team that has at times really struggle. I think that he's been sort of a bit of a constant there. And i always look at stuff. Like how hard are you hitting. The ball is four percent hard hit rate so almost half the time This season he is making at least ninety five mile in our exit lost contact. He's never been even close to that in his career. So kind of similar to crawford. He just seems to have unlock completely different. And by the way also at age thirty four so really cool to see that especially from guy like pollock who had so many injuries and things that sort of hampered his season's over the last handful of years. It's it's really great to see him thriving for that team. That has needed some offense. with cody. bellinger not plan grand. Mookie betts than her and also not that great this year. So it's good to see that coming from maybe a little bit more unexpected source so i watched The first couple of innings of the dodgers and padres last night. But then i did go to bed. And i wound up waking up at four forty five Which is not long after the completion. That game you were up and watching that whole game after getting back in city field. Yup yup had some late second dinner after the nachos in the stands has had some Additional food when we got back and watching that game. It was pretty crazy. I mean i remember looking up. The out of town scoreboard and being kind of bummed. There was only one ten o'clock game last night. So i wasn't going to get to watch a lot of baseball other than the baseball that i saw in front of me which is of course the best way to take it in and then that game ended up giving all of us plenty of baseball even with the one ten piece start. It's awesome right sarah. Talk to you next week. Hoster bleacher tweets already buster bleacher tweets for thursday. We've got louis adia weiss at addio underscore lewis zero zero lewis rates and beyond the fourteen strikeout game wednesday is robbie ray legit contender.

"I don't know i could be way off But the point is. I don't personally think that if the fda approves the vaccine that's everybody's gonna come rushing into you know vaccine centers get vaccinated. I don't think most of the people that haven't gotten vaccinated even know that the fda has approved it yet But apparently there's a lot of discussion that the fda approval would be very helpful against those that are sort of vaccine hesitant like a lot of these people who are unvaccinated are waiting for fda approval. That doesn't make sense to me. Most people don't even know that that's absent fall. That's what i think. That's what i think you're awfully wound up about it. I could tell that. Well it's it's it seems like we are increasing the number of co vid positives at least as it relates to this you know delta variant and furthermore young fit professional athletes aren't getting sick especially those that are vaccinated so then that's are a mess right now. They are there they they. They've got this going on while they're trying to figure out who trading. Alex they can get for them as the trading deadline is just forty eight hours away basically. Yeah the I i was reading What's his face passan. I guess Earlier i think it was passed and whatever apparently sure's or will approve any trade two west coast teams that are pursuing him that are in the race but he's ruled out philly and houston as destinations. He has this veto right using his. They call ten in five rights. Ten years of service with the same team right. That's what it is right. Yes it is okay so let's see. He doesn't want he doesn't want to go play for us to because he doesn't want to play with a bunch of teenagers and he doesn't to go play for philly play with bryce harper. That's the reason. I don't know i mean the houston thing would seem obvious to me. You know Goldie was on the podcast with me yesterday and we were going through a lot of this stuff and for those of you that listened in like did i appreciate it. Also he he just he had a bad phone thing. Which is why we had to end early. We're pretty much done anyway. But anyway If you miss that you can go back and listen to it in just a yesterday show What was i gonna say again. I'm all over the place when i have been at the early about mercury coffee. Oh about sober yet. So sure is our sherzer. Mike rizzo apparently said that because of these ten five rights. We've got to get a deal prior to the four pm deadline tomorrow to work out the no-trade you know ability and i said to all the why can't they just worked out now and just say max. Tell us where you won't go and we won't talk to those teams. I mean i'm sure he'd be willing to tell them upfront. My point being is you. Don't in a situation like this. I i would think i could be wrong but i would imagine that. Was somebody like sherzer. These are deadline deals most times and their deadline deals. Because if you're an rizzo's position you wanna wait to see this thing heat up. You want the pressure of a deadline to four. Somebody's hand on the best possible offer. And it just seems to me that the nats would benefit from being able to walk this up to you know close to the deadline so just find out which teams he won't accept the trade to and don't talk to those teams tell them they're out Or don't tell them they're out but understand that they're not gonna win this you know ultimately and if you have to take a lesser deal from la or san francisco or san diego you do that You know part of me. I mean i don't wanna see max scherzer go. I want to see him be a national. I want to see him pitch. And it wildcard game or in a playoff game or whatever because it was so exciting but if he if he does go anywhere i kinda would like to see him in that nationally west race and healthy for it because that really is one of tommy. You've got three. The third place team is fourteen games over five hundred. That is a hell of a race. They have the three highest run differentials in the national league all in one division but as far as which team. I don't know i'm sort of rooting for san diego. I don't know why the pilot because that team that that sounds really taken it on the chin in recent years lost their football commod such a great town. Yep but it's san diego life is never bad. it's true it's it can't ever be bad. They're the most beautiful weather in our country is san diego weather year round. You wanna get some washington football talk or do you have anything more on the nats in. What you think's going to happen and who you would trade and who you wouldn't trade and strasbourg i think and strasbourg. Goldie said that this could be essentially a career ending injury. Yeah i mean he's having serious surgery and he's thirty three years old You know he's except for that world series run for the past couple of years. It's been one You know malady after another with him and that's got to be taken. It's toll over the years as he gets older and that two hundred forty five million dollar contract extension that the natch sides him to i know we said and i'm not gonna back away from you know if it gave them a world series than a championship which you could argue it did then it was worth it but still i mean if he if he if he is his career would be over. That would go down as probably maybe the all time worse contract history gully was saying by the way that that blast extension seven years. Two hundred sixty five was. I think it was two hundred. Sixty five million came after the world series. Yes so they haven't gotten anything from him since now last year obviously was Boy you know. I i really like stephen strasburg like i. I liked him. More than max scherzer. And i wanted him to be healthy and i wanted to see him. Have a dominant cy. Young type of regular season into a postseason. You know it was the game four at wrigley. That really sold me remember. He was you know he. Apparently he had Allergies are the sniffles and Who knows maybe he had the twisties and he was going to back out But you know there's all that discussion and and and in industy sort of publicly put some pressure on him a little bit and then he showed up and he was dominant and then there was nothing. Nothing in the postseason. There are a lot of moments in the postseason but game six in houston down. Three two facing elimination was an all clutch performance by by strasbourg and he was so great that night. I just those final two games were so incredible. But that game. Six facing elimination He's had almost two hall of fame postseason performances. He's been great as a playoff pitcher. I just wish that he could have had more health during his career. And it would really suck if this really is. An injury is as goldie. Describe it that there's no example of anybody coming back and being a hundred percent afterwards. He said that. This is the injury that matt harvey had and the surgery that matt harvey had And he's never been the same although he pitched really well last saturday night against the nets but That would your differences between matt harvey and Strasbourg stocks were placed for an organization that will russia back. The mets basically you know they ignored and they laughed at the strasbourg. Shutout when they brought harvey back from his His tommy john surgery and i think that contributed to Is his issues. A look at this is i. Don't want to start if this is stephen. Strasburg has given washington national fads. A tremendous amount of great moments over the years as frustrating. He has been there have been so many times where we watched some remarkable remarkable performance from the first day he ever pitched team. Yeah fourteen strikeouts. Yeah i mean that's all time debut. So i mean i think i mean you know. He should always be celebrated by washington.

"Like crafty guys that they can get the innings pieces so key because all three of their studs need to be pulled back a bit not just for their their health for the regular season. They need to be ready for october. And especially somebody like peralta. Who's a smaller guy to you. Want to be careful putting too many innings on him going into october and gibson even if he's not pitching this sub three level he can go out and give you seven regularly. So yeah you take a little bit off the bullpen. And then those extra paninis can go on the would. Drift peralta burn starts to save them a little bit. So it's a trickle down effect. That would really help. I do think Gibson's a great fit for the brewers. That's good happens there. I mean we just don't realize that. I mean we've said enough now the past week that the brewers are going to win the central. But it's still really weird. That the brewers are gonna win the central. It's weird that they i would say. The white sox have the biggest lock that they're going to win their division. And then the brewers are second. They're like the lives right now because the reds bullpen so terrible the cardinals are just treading water and they never seem to be making a move in fact i. I should add wainwright to this list. You mentioned that. Before the before the episode so i will add him but Nobody seems to want to compete with the brewers right. And it's also. I mean we we. We didn't mention there. We debated beforehand. We decided just ignore them. Which was the reds. Because we don't know what they're going to be dealing with they're going to be so crazy lake. I mean i. I do wonder a lot about. There's always a balance of like how much talent there was a supply and demand where the prospect levels like It's not just a question of generally in the major six those that have you know that are looking for things. What kind of capital do they have. Right what kind of ability do they have to give away a legitimate prospects. You look at the reds and you see mandate got some incredible pictures on that staff. They really do. They wanted me. Roll by depends on finding that right fits you know. Maybe the mariners are one of them if they let's go for it here are our. Here's julia rigas or something crazy. Like castio yeah dude dipoto deal. That's like something he would do. I now i know you're not wrong there. That would be kind of bananas But we'll get to some other teams here in a moment. Let's let's move to. John john gray because he's another guy that has to be dealt. There's absolutely no universe where he's still on there the dumbest team in the world if they don't trade him brian come on. He's a rental. And and for those. That are talking about crime on marquez marquez. On an amazing team friendly deal going anywhere. Any team would have to pay so much. That's not worth it to them. I wish you'd get traded for fantasy purposes of mental wellbeing. You know but john gray Is going to be dealt now. He's having one of his best years ever and he continues to be somebody who actually succeeds more at home than the road. That doesn't mean. I think that when he gets traded. He's not going to be very good. I think he's kind of figuring out how to live in coors a bit and then your stuff still changes when you go on the road we talk about coors hangover for hitters. But not as much for pitchers. And so i think things just aren't as comfortable for him on the road. East figured out at home road is still a mixed bag every time but i think going into a more neutral environment. He's going to be solid. I think he's a solid mid three ziara guy. John gray's going to get dealt. What do you see as the best fit in. How much does it improve. His fantasy outlook given the already has a three eighty six eight or three sixty eight and one twenty two whip on the season. I'm going to bother you. Because i'm going to say i think john gray is something that we don't really understand at the moment because he's now throwing ninety five ninety six or so as opposed to throwing ninety four. They're on and we've seen him out of the coming out of this injury that he had just dominate the flexor he just took down the padres dodgers allowing combined three runs over thirteen innings with fourteen strikeouts. Like high was dodgers inside. A cores in one was in san diego. And he's throwing hard. He has a slider working. I think he wouldn't give me an extreme in yet. Fastball slider in his last one thirty three percents. wtn whiffs on his slider fastball. At ninety five point six and cruise along like this is a different guy that all of a sudden i don't i don't know if you realize how high them on the list like i have them at forty eight right now. I have john gray. The guy who's been like this eight nigga and the the most avoided starter into in fancy baseball discussions. I think across the industry because we don't know what to do all of a sudden. I'm like top fifty john gray because he's changing this stuff and anyone that gets them. I think is gonna have to pay a lot. Because he hasn't done for a long time and of what they get. You know so. I'm excited for him. I have no idea where he's going to go. I mean i just want to the dodgers. So they have to j. grays hilarious and john. Yeah usually it would be awesome. Obviously we can't put everyone there but like they're going to go get guys and i wouldn't be surprised if the if he was one of the ones that they went for. Because maybe maybe there is not made available. And maybe burritos isn't then john gray becomes one of the best ones available. I put gibson higher just because he has the better. Era but that's kind of superficial gray actually has the better skills and then you're talking about what he's been doing since returning from the flex our injury he's been a different guy and he's been a monster so any of the top teams that could get them are gonna benefit big time. We're going to overlap onto the teams. We talk about the boston. he'd be a great fit there Really any of them. There's not a single team that needs pitching. that would be like no. Thank you know. John gray for us. but the best fits of course would be those premium teams. The dodgers would be obviously the ideal fit. I wouldn't mind him in fenway. I really want it. Fenway does not automatically terrify me. Alias is tough but this man's been living in coors. John gray has so you know the aliens is not going to scare him that much. Those are good offenses. But i still think he'd be very good Yeah he would be wonderful. Toronto getting him would be great. I think they should be knocking on the door. There and that can really really help their their rotation. Yeah those are..

"Johnston wa wa pitch and then wild pitch krinsky strikes out jd martinez things and then hunter renfro ends the game with the sacked fly to right red sox win five four extend their lead over the yanks to eight games atop the division. Yankees are two in eight against boston. The season they had only four hits in the game against fourteen strikeouts one for eight with runners in scoring position. They left six aboard. But afterwards it was obviously all about the bullpen. Boone had to watch helplessly. As chris came. Apart on the mound. I mean you're grinding. Right along with them and know that he has the swing and miss stuff to potentially get out of. It tossed that one two three tenths against the phillies. The night before to earn his first big league win just did not go his way. This time around. It's difficult but it's pretty simple was just how many times you can execute a pitch that you need to execute. He failed badly in that area last night. Not close same for chad green. Except he was actually wild inside. The strike zone pitches. Were to hit. -able boone asked if he's concerned about green adjusting to pitching in the ninth inning or in save situations. Not really you know. I think i think more with chad is just trying to protect them. A little bit you know of some of his usage which is why he wasn't available wednesday night when zach britain and nick nelson melted down the five. Pitch eighth from louise sesa. Boone didn't want to go any further with him and remember says coming off. you know. Two days ago at three thirty pitches. So i was a little reluctant to throw him out for a second up especially when i got grainy sitting there so a lot of his second off their attacks in this and that we suck right now we suck right now what they could really use. Go under brian..

"He was critical of lugo for the first throwing away. Can't do that dante before. All that you had graham getting touched up for three runs in the first something. We're obviously not used to. Seeing including an opposite field home for austin riley so to ground comes into the dugout gesturing at james mckenna throws his glove again. That was interesting. I thought ceelo. I know him. I just so excited to see green you. I why i'm here to interact. I'm glad that you got to that though because at the time. You've kind of thought. How did he hit that so he just say you know blanket right. Yeah yeah i agree. We didn't but you're probably right. Yeah and he did. I mean it's a fastball. And you basically just flip it over the wall in right field so you can't doesn't react as if to defend themselves so clearly. What he said is true right. Yeah i don't think would get on. I don't but i think others would. That's why it was so underground like the look of it. And then he goes out in the second first and third nobody proceeds to strike out the next three ends up his outing with retiring. The final eighteen batters face faced fourteen strikeouts. He's incredible that good at anything. Anything walk as he pitches like really something else is ends up with no decisions of the mets drops. Two out of three to the braves. It is it's appointment television pretty much because you don't know how long it's gonna last. Yep my dad was the to blame by the way he's a yankee fan he's like yankees are off me. I never really watched a ground. Let me throw it on. I any gives up three runs. Sure enough he figured you know what i better turn it off. So he did and he and my mom decided to watch a movie and i texted him later. I'm like you must have turned it off because he's on a roll sharon all. That's the case so met fans you can. You can blame my desk for the loss. Four out of five overall for the mets as far as the losing goes in heading into the subway series part. Once you had mets and yankees from the bronx whether pending though 'cause this forecast rain thunderstorms leave weekend. It's not good..

"Name is ground jacob degrom on the mound last night but hold everything facing the braves jacob. Degrom has not given up a run on the road all season long until this bottom of the first. That's ozzy all bs atop base it in the center that brings home run so degrom is frustrated if he didn't like that he's really gonna hate this. The next batter is austin wylie with an to count my goodness. It's a two run homer. The guam gives up three hits and three runs in the first and take a look at the frustration in the dugout. But from there he would settle in and get in total control. Just take a look at some of the nomination. Freddy freeman no chance all these again. He's swinging briley. You're going to get him. Look in the groundwood strikeout. Eight straight in one stretch wind up going seven innings. Fourteen k's gave up three runs. Top nine now mets down three to dominic smith already at a homer in the game facing will smith it smith on smith crime. That's deepen gone. His second of the game his eighth of the year. We're tied at three bottom nine still tied at three bases-loaded two outs freddy freeman. Chance to be the hero. Can he do it yes. He came off the foot. It's coming home and freeman. Beats it out the braves walk it off. Four three atlanta wins it in a start against the ground. The frustration from the mets the grammy finished with fourteen strikeouts and no walks third time. He's done that this year. That already ties. The most such starts the season in baseball history. But the mets to lose which snaps an eight game winning streak in games he started coming up. He was forced to forfeit his heisman trophy. Eleven years ago now reggie. Bush wants it back and he as a strong case. Really get it. We'll dive deeply into that plus fly. I don't but i think others would. That's why it was so underground like the look of it. And then he goes out in the second first and third nobody proceeds to strike out the next three ends up his outing with retiring. The final eighteen batters. He faced fourteen strikeouts. He's incredible that good at anything. Anything walk as he pitches like really something else is ends up with. No decisions of the mets drops. You two out of three to the braves. It is. It's appointment television pretty much because you don't know how long it's gonna last. Once you had mets and yankees from the bronx whether pending though 'cause this forecast rain thunderstorms leave the weekend. It's not good. That's not great good rains one thing thunderstorms no and so the memorial day. We all wear nice. Because i was here cold and like two weeks before it. I started to think like memorial day weekend and week prior was gorgeous. I mean those can be listen longer shows when people are all outside all enjoying a holiday. Frankly i caught a break and now july fourth weekend shirley i think is gonna stink as well. Thunderstorms yanks wounds yesterday. Following the wednesday nights way saturday and sunday. Yeah we'll have to check you out. No one does weekends. Like i do see there. You go shirt. Does weekends like kim jones anyway. Yankees yesterday coming off the wednesday night lost to the angels. Bleary eyed. aaron boone. Back at the stadium yesterday morning like eight hours removed from the aroldis chapman meltdown. I don't think awful night is maybe doesn't do it. Justice right i mean..

"What's he got like a half half iran area right now. I don't even know if it's not vermont. And he qualified. He's like he's he's missed is missed a couple starts but i wanna say he's still qualifies for the title of ood. I don't think that's the case. No he does does he. Yep he's got a point size yard like is there any point in qualifier if a guy like that is going to do what he's gonna do and it's the bare minimum guy who has a really good year with a large body of work but if there's the qualifier jacob degrom and it's that body of work against a guy let let's say throws one hundred ninety two hundred plus innings with a high to like who we given that too. I mean he's missed three starts but missed three starts frigging to where he's not going to make twenty five starts right or like. Maybe that's i don't know. I mean like he just keeps bouncing back. He's had his injuries for sure. Obscene they just keep popping up so if they keep popping up and keeps you know how how long before he missed. I hope never. So there's three guys with a sub two right now. A sub to and i wanna throw trevor rogers in there because i know marlins fans listen to this podcast. And they're like what the fuck you guys never talk about. Trevor rogers talk ever. Rogers has a two point zero eight year. He's turned eighty six and two thirds innings. And he's punched out one hundred one batters so he's in the. He's in the hundred k. Club which is how many we up to. Now there's a few there's there's nineteen and he just entered it. Trevor rogers chris bassett. I can see your joe moscow. Robbie ray rodion darvish burns giolito adrift. Kershaw guzman sherzer freddie peralta. Who doesn't get too. I mean freddie fuckin- parole like the crew fucking rotation is disgusting. Joe i mean brandon. Woodruff has a one eight nine one hundred eleven strikeouts in ninety five innings. Corbin burns a two six. Two hundred eight strikeouts in sixty eight and two thirds innings. And then you have freddie peralta who has a two eleven with one hundred. Fourteen strikeouts in eighty one innings. You don't wanna fuck and see the bruin. October you shitting me. That rotation is disgusting and no one will talk about it besides me. I don't think that's trudel. Is anyone outside of milwaukee. Not that even consider myself. Outside of milwaukee i even if i'm physically outside of milwaukee my heart's always in milwaukee so is anyone outside of milwaukee talking about how you don't wanna run into the crew and october well no because it's not even. It's not even july yet so we're not having that conversation. I mean it's right around the corner. I'm gonna throw freddie peralta and trevor rogers into this discussion. Just just for argument's sake. But jacob degrom is throwing seventy two innings this year has made twelve starts and then compare that to a kevin guardsmen. Who i i saw giants. Fan me on twitter. Because i believe i said i said happy brandon woodruff day on morning would and then he was like really. You're gonna say fucking brandon woodruff. Instead of kevin. Gaza kevin guzman kevin. Guzman is right behind will not i mean. He's not right by his full. Imagine that you have a fucking one four nine in your full run behind leader. Hang with him. He's got one four nine in ninety six and two thirds innings and the brennan woodrow. Who's gonna one eight nine in ninety five innings. So i mean we're talking like that's that's insane because if it comes down to voting let's just say i hate doing this but like if the season ended today jacob programs winning the fucking cy young obviously like it doesn't matter that he missed the three starts in that there's a there's a discrepancy in innings pitched doesn't matter because all the numbers like like it is what it is. He's got yeah he's got more strikeouts he's got a lower fourteen point six strikeouts per nine dallas strikes nine is fourteen point six guzman ten point four would drift ten point five. Trevor rogers ten point five to trust me. Like there's there's would you even have to think about it. Would you even have to think about it. I give you a ballot right now. Hey you haven't annalisa young. You're just checking in passing that in. I'm asking why you handed me that. Valid taking the fucking vote. What are we doing. yeah. I know. I'm crumbling that up throwing it right back at your forehead stopped. You're better than that. Don't ask me that. yeah. Did you know that marcus. Stroman has lower era than garrett cole. Did you know that. I did not know that. What stroz low two three two compared to two three three you still lower as lower yes or no is it. Lower dallas say. Thank you on the puck. Stroke guy say you stroke guy. It is absolutely lower. I will never argue that to three to lower two three three. Not going to tell you that. Marcus stroman has higher cool. Because that's just simply not true garrett cole not even the second best pitcher in new york say it Gear coal does not have the second low or has the second lowest dra as a pitcher in europe. He unbiased for one second third garrett cole not the best not even the second best pitcher in new york no absolutely not garrett cole is not the what'd you say. Your call was not the best pitcher in you. Did you. not the second best. He's not the second best pitcher.

Marcus stroman trevor rogers Trevor rogers europe Rogers garrett cole jacob new york freddie Woodruff milwaukee Joe nineteen Fourteen strikeouts jacob degrom Guzman Kershaw guzman marcus today Corbin

"But i. I hate the fact that he is a real a real all-star contender and he's hitting two twenty nine with like eight walks. Sixteen strikeouts are good and forty four. B. is very good but like the ninety five strikeouts is just something that i don't understand how you can be like your opie s is a to sixty five because you strike out so much like i don't understand how we consider that a really good baseball like a really really good baseball player like his at bats per home. Monday is decent enough with a fourteen point. Four four his but his ex he has twenty two extra base hits on the year. It just it feels like he's not doing great. Ike like offensively like he's he's an all star contender but our league leader extra-base base hits at number five matt olsen. Ozzy albee's are tied for fifth with thirty six. Let them grow. junior in. Nicosia knows are tied for third with thirty seven. Rafael denver's has thirty eight and shohei otani has forty extra-base hits which leads the league right. Here are leader. Strikeout percentage going from bottom to top in terms of high percentage matt chapman at thirty three fourteen strikeout rate in fourth place brandon low three nineteen. Th strikeout percentage. Jackie bradley jr. three thirteen matt. Michael eight taylor with eight hundred forty six and then hobby by with a three eighty six. Strikeout percentage are league leader in..

"Currently at the plate now too small sample size not striking out nearly as much. We've seen how he settled down the defense. He's among the league leaders defensively and metrics in center field but that has been a big addition quietly for this club. Yeah i think there is no doubt that any fancy watch games closely over the last forty five years when here baiters uses hope that he doesn't fish at those pitches that are down in a way and he's shown much better discipline this year titled neil as well very much in the same situation you know hitters knew how to get him out and now Bill betas doing a better job against right handed pitching. Which was the key for him. You know coming into this year. He's always had left pitching very well but he had to pitch right be credible enough against right handed pitching that they were comfortable to play every day. And you know again. A tiebreaker is clearly his defense he also very good on the basis. So you know. It's nice to see harrison baiter step up and and have a solid season. That really helps that bottom third of the lineup. Brian lynch jump into the minor leagues will start with memphis. What what's happening right now. With the memphis redbirds. Birds are are playing well in spurts. Pitching has been a little bit behind but we saw both the infielder. The veteran infielder as it were brought in this year. Maximum off and Jose ron don't play well drug and a lot of runs. Hit four home runs. Each was a little bit of a surprise. More i've got the call to come up. But he was much hotter at the time then then rondeau and went. Saint louis had an opening lars. Newt bar who's an outfielder that we haven't talked much about up from aa hitting over three hundred. Opiates over eight hundred winning doing a nice job as well and then counter capable who is also playing. Well so it's nice to see that the the the red birds have some some backup on the offensive side on the pitching side. The scandal clearly has been a matthew. Liberator is made three starts as your as a little bit high but he's been very consistent fourteen strikeouts and seventeen third innings only four walks and that thompson on the other hand has struggled a little bit more Especially with the ox in gave up three long balls already so thompson actually pitched in one game out of the bullpen as they're trying to figure out how to get get right but you know one of the things that we've looked at for saint louis left-handed hasn't been solid this year. In you know. I don't want to say that it's going to happen anytime soon. But if liberty keeps pitching like this you know he could be a guy that the cardinals could call on in the second half to to work out of the pen from the left side versus you going out and picking a picking up a guy scrappy. How are they doing it. Is it a piggyback system primarily with memphis in the rest of the minor leagues. No there must be running five man rotation and it's interesting because as we've talked about before a big change in the minor leagues. This year is a six game series. Every tuesday through sunday. So you know if you go with a regular five man rotation what happens is the same. Starting pitcher pitches game one and then again game six but generally speaking. The cardinals have gone with five man. There's a couple of cases where they're running with piggybacks down in class but overall they're going with more standard rotation now guys aren't pitching in deep into games partially because of the fact that most of them weren't pitching last summer but also as we get more and more information on metrics and all. It's much harder for pitchers pitch that third time through a lineup..

Jose ron second half Bill betas saint louis Saint louis Each both last summer fourteen strikeouts one game six game third time five man over three hundred four home runs game one thompson over eight hundred seventeen third innings four walks

"In the locker room. You know to get them a fired up. Yeah i mean apparently had a closed-door meeting after friday's laws. I don't know he's just as personality. That's what the yankees wanted. They came out of the girardi era where he was a guy was very tense and tight and they wanted the opposite of that. Narran boone's he's not going to change just you know what You know you take the wind. You take the loss as you move on and then just try to do better you know. Just try to and You know awfully out. You know The next to the next two games it gets atlanta. We will get a couple of wins out of that for you linda. Just for you. Not brain buddy right. Then she sounds great awesome. That's that yes she's back. She sounds great. Full life full end. But it's about the manager can have closed-door meeting all he wants i mean the guy's gotta start hitting it. I mean none of this stuff matters. It really doesn't. It doesn't kinda does matter. But i know what the fans want mean but the reality is it's analytic baseball. It's one hundred and sixty two games. It's going to go on all summer long closed-door meeting you really think those things matter and use the closed door meetings pau sixteen games different seventeen games you could have seventeen closed-door actually think getting fired up is not a good thing for baseball sometimes right. Yeah you gotta be relaxed focused not for fire. I'm going fired up and you pulled the quad muscle. Yes in a hamstring. As well dan carter read dan. What do you want. Hey what's going on how you doing. Good how about you. I'm okay fine now. What tall chuck some stuff that you without your birthday question question for you had a pretty tremendous sixty th birthday. The your sixty nine point fifty three mile bike ride in the morning. Yes ace the ace of the pitching staff of your favorite baseball team through fourteen strikeouts and got his first victory. Yup you had your rangers beat up on the devils again. Doesn't get much better than that. You had to the jets twitter account tweet out of video wishing you a happy birthday of your first victory of In the green and white. yeah beaten. miami dolphins and dan marino. Yeah yeah route in the routing. The dolphin slapping those guys around. Yeah definitely and there was a little part of it where it was an unnecessary dive by you into the end zone yet. Clear route to the end zone. You ran into him but you have to dive in for some reason somersaulting up and spiked it in your face. How many times have you done that. Never shut up. What else so the question that i had in my mind but i think you kind of answered it during the opening monologue of the show the question i had on my mind Saturday is obviously didn't know your bike. Route that you were gonna do to myself. I wonder boomer. You know being the guy he is thinking everything through is gonna make sure that this route loops and back past his neighborhood at least once or twice. 'cause what if he has to drop do storing this bike ride. You know it's really funny. You say that. That was pretty why dan would've been there to pick it up for you know definitely not up bringing to say though it was. I did have that problem did you. I had i had a really think it through. Wait a second. I got through it so it almost happened to you for the first time ever. Yeah i was. Like where am i going to go. There's nowhere to go. I mean and i'm not gonna go on ocean park with i don't think the texture out yet but i'm not going in. Their excrement is going to get out right. Wow yes so but you able to mind. Control mind control and get back into did. That is just incredible. Have you ever met anybody else. That can do this now because that is spaghetti dinner the night before near carb. Load a little bit early. yeah. I figured i'd get up early and be able to go to the bathroom and it didn't happen now and i did. I did a protein shake with the metamucil in it as kind of sitting here waiting and waiting and waiting. And maybe i was just so jacked up to do the bike ride. That just didn't happen for me. Imagine if you for six hours imagine if you had the poop outside without proper wiping utensils and then hop back on that bike and ride. I was thinking anytime. Now that i go for a longer ride. I definitely have to have some tissues or something with me your ass. What it looks. Look like a babboons ass. Whether the time you came home think about that. It would have been all irritated and red swollen throat. Your seat yeah who god. You're lucky you're able to control that you are. I'd like to in-kind bars kind bars. And then i also had a protein bars somewhere along the way so you will go poop in the woods but not in a public toilet but no but i was thinking about doing it but i didn't have the proper wiping utensil. Yes exactly so. I just decided a totally mind. F myself and say no. You're not doing this. I thought about it was really weird. I thought about that. At that moment i thought about dan marino. You thought about today in did i did. Why because in our trying to check into a hotel washington that one time and you flew home and because my hotel room wasn't right. Yeah you flew home just to go to the bathroom so angry. Because i had to go home and go to the bathroom. And what was his reaction when you decided to go home instead of. Wait for the your hotel room before roman. That's what i can put it like what i have never met anybody but you that is able to mind. Control his bowels. This'll be a the best. David blaine trick. Oh yeah for sure. I you know maybe it is kind of a trick. It's a superpower is. That's your superpower is my superpower. See i don't think that you understand because you can do this and you don't know what it's like to not control it and just have to go wherever can't do that. I don't think you understand how powerful this is. That's why i use to stay regular. Yeah i understand. it's a big thing. Now you know when you get into your sixties you end up talking about the weather your poop things like that. Yeah you know that there would be a guy if you ended up getting off that bike and having a go in the woods somewhere who would recognized you. You know that you'd be sitting there squad bouma puma as unbelievable rap. We would all been tagged in twitter photos of woods helmet on squadron. Bouma poop know he came out. He bouma from that page on himself alphabet page crazy so by the way might take it a selfie. You want to wait you done on done by the way being down there and osceola parkway so. They had a bmw driving experience. Yeah at toby people screaming. Bmw's in a parking lot down there and then they're out to be a five hundred person by a motorcycle. Oh wow that was unbelievable. Because everybody had american flags on the back of their motorcycles and everything going right down ocean parkway wow that was pretty. Cool a c- a lot when you're out there for six hours and then i went past gilgo where they have the.

David blaine Saturday six hours today dan marino seventeen games twitter sixteen games sixty fourteen strikeouts linda two games sixty th birthday first victory first time fifty three mile Narran boone sixties gilgo one hundred and sixty two game
