Discussing the Philadelphia Eagles' overpay for Joe Flacco
"We even get started on joe flacco. I don't mean to take a dump. All over. Joe flacco good career. You want super bowl. Mvp and ninety eight seventy seven career records. Who's not some like garbage. You know scrub quarterback was never good and he doesn't deserve to be mocked and good for him for getting the deal that he got personally. I think he is agent. Did a good job. i guess trying to There's reportedly that the forty niners were also involved. And maybe that's why he got what he got with the eagles which i mean. The eagles shouldn't have cared. If there's other teams involved should have just passed the number. I but anyway it's been a long way. It's been a long way since. Joe flacco was even remotely close to being a desirable quarterback last six years and twenty six and thirty seven record a combined. Six point four yards per attempt over that six years fan six point four yards per attempt over six year span is not good last two years. Where the only two years he spent away from baltimore signed a one year deal in denver. You went to and four. They're moved onto the jets. Last season went owen for completion percentage in front of me with his fifty five percent or something like that point to and he had a qb rating. I think of like eighty point. Two eighty eight eighty twenty and then. I didn't have this but in your post on him. You had noted and grain of salt here but of course you had noted that Pro football focus had him as the second worst rated quarterback in the nfl last year.
Rams superstar Aaron Donald upset at end of playoff loss
"The packers thirty two eighteen on saturday and heading into the weekend lindsay. You wrote that you were really excited to see this. Coaching matchup between matlock floor. And sean mcvay. What stood out to you in the battle of the minds here. Yeah i mean because these are two guys who know each other so well and you know. They're very much part of the same coaching tree. They both worked under kyle shanahan about the flora then works Under sean mcvay. So they have very similar offensive philosophies but that was just a game that was full of really interesting. Coaching matchups mallon floor wine. That batch up by far the packers had the better game plan. They were the better team better coach. All of this and sure aaron. Donald was not at full strength. You could tell that. He was very clearly hampered by the rib injury that he suffered during the wild card round but it was just a very impressive performance overall by aaron rodgers and certainly by matt leflore and that entire coaching staff the packers put up four hundred and eighty four yards of total offense against basically the best defense in the league. talked about aaron donald. Who's just a generational talent. Not being at full strength. But how is this packers offense. So effective saturday night. We'll everything they do. Obviously starts with aaron rodgers. Who just seem to have this innate mastery of what was coming and it kind of went viral on twitter a little bit because so many of fox's camera angles shown face on with aaron rodgers where you could see the moment that he realized what was coming that he was able to diagnose the coverage and dictate the play based on what was coming and the offensive line played really well protecting aaron rogers. He was barely touched. I'm not sure if his jersey had a single grass stain on after the game. And you know when you're not getting pressure on a quarterback and you're running the ball really well and you have davante adams who's one of the best wide receivers and football. It really wasn't even a close match up. And you know. I know a lot of people in green bay throughout packers land. Were wondering this is the best defense in football and it has to make you wonder. If that's the way that the packers aaron rodgers played against supposedly the best defense in football. What are they going to do for the rest of the

You have a very interesting. Let's say a front row seat to what's going on with conversational a more. Broadly you deal with chat and with voice as you look back on twenty twenty and you look back in india and the conversational space. What was the biggest story of the year. What stands out. I think the biggest of the if you look at everything in addition i Chad boys todd bobby platforms use cases gov support if you just look at the broader space end for us like you mentioned right. Rear look on the internet of things over. The biggest breakout story has been whatsapp By that what What i mean is that if you think about the decio. Facebook has genuinely taken a number of steps. do enable what's up to become a platform for businesses to do a lot more with it right the genuinely thinking about this was the first yard where they would enough actions that facebook is accompanied to basically say that look deadened mission with what chapters to become like. Ob chat by web businesses and branch can come on and a conversation experiences to enable commerce engagement. Ben support So far for for us. And for me specifically as i think about the landscape i actually you know. I want to go to the extent and say as far as i think in domes of build adoption of conversation in the seven yards that i've been doing this which is like a lifetime in this business. this is probably the biggest route moment that that's happened because of the simple fact that You know if you if you provide in platform read a hundreds of millions of users can genuinely use. Nlp conversational interfaces dude to businesses to get things done for commerce far support it it probably will be can be a genuine battered. I'm shift that. You know people like you and i have been talking about for many rs. Okay so you work with a lot of big brands. Yeah so when you look at when you look at what's app or these brands interested in what's happ before the new features came along. Yes so there is always been a great Interest from start dating back to two thousand seventeen on more street because of the simple logic that you know most of these bands and more of the bland managers or the c. Suite dr day us. What's up like five hundred times a day for everything right. so then i'd choose expansion. What product on my band on this bag form so the interest is always been dead. It's been it's been the case for like i said the red bottle to your four yards. You know it was just a matter of the features being available the platforming available and more broadly in honesty the features started begging big. Started becoming available about a couple of ers by but really your until the earlier question is whether it was the first show. Facebook obliquely came out multiple times in. I talk about the fact that whatsapp is going to be a platform for engagement with businesses. Right unlimited a lot of things down features actions announcements which gave ams especially large brands a lot of confidence that look this is a good platform for businesses to stay and not just something that was been for like monetization got and so we've seen other moves along these lines as well with google also have business messaging feature. What is the general reaction about those. Are those going to be supported as tier two. Are they going to be supported as enthusiastically. Or is it going to be more Something that if if i have to do it i'm going to do it. But what's abbas where i want to invest. I mean i think you do have a but not like a must have sort of need. I mean it's the classic Vitamin was painkiller sort of analogy read. whatsapp is like is like dope. Incommoded solids of very big problem in terms of engagement. Outreach was Assured the good to have that a check box i need to be on those channels honestly similar a little bit with alexa and google has read what we've seen play out over the last two yards. Which is yeah great. I'd love to. I'd love to be on alexa of beyond will so that we can check it off that a band present debt. But it's not. It's not solving the problem of engagement.

weapons that successfully if you Mario you guys lose the falcons last week what's the point of emphasis in practice all week from the coaching staff allowed law was you know trying to pay you went a little crazy I just lay out I've been blessed with it we play our best football about derated ready and alertness Lee about that place that and so that's kind of what happened the day we waived the No come out early and you don't hold water they can stop early and after a couple of that's what they take us inside what's like and scenes practices when it's good against good one verses ones that those must be really competitive periods all med that is super competitive and you know there's no better atmosphere I think they can be created a costly land back the spec what I'm looking out of can't do it right if it gets Rabb ramp yet and tomorrow is there we think about a practice like that then you got over the middle market we are you know no my cell phone on inside out you think about the competitiveness of that practice then you got a lucky guy who played at a high level and I think that's what we all have that that we have in the business this year because the competition is so great at practice no from training camp TA today was on the one on one the little we know just you know make sure you always got bill point so Damara piggy backing off of Mike's question there who's the best athlete on that offense all may have best athlete of the they all present you know some different but it's just I think just god given ability Albemarle some special rare breed I I've never Aka Ban Dallas Week let's do the things do it do it how you doing and this is cool it's Cool Dallas is interesting Dallas and Philadelphia both taking pretty weird routes to get to where they are right now with both three and three in a huge regional match up the Dallas cowboys offense probably the most interesting study through the first six seven weeks this season in terms of being really good and then being not as really good and so I think we're Sunday games going to be a lot of eyes on it I think it's a really fun match up to look at to prepare for yeah and we're going to be doing today we're going to be covering that matchup and we're still waiting on some injury reports we're Kinda doing a double header recording here full disclosure so we're going to be doing the Dallas offense against the Philadelphia Eagles Defense on this show on the can S. One thirty four will flip sides do the eagles offense against the Dallas Cowboys Defense and then we'll kind of dig into more injury report as we get that Thursday it should drop any minute now but of course we'll talk about some players that might be inner out for the cowboys some of them might be gametime decisions but we'll talk about that as well but man let's dig in to this matchup because there is a lot to talk about like you said very interesting for the cowboys and you look at this cowboys offense the reason why it's interesting they still rank which is so weird to me but they still rank sex in football outsiders devi away and I'd say that's in part because they faced the thirty first ranked combined Devi oh a defenses and because it's early in the season football out insiders nurse their opponent adjustments within the metric so there's some contact behind that they're definitely not performing the number two also we need to take a moment to discuss that fact that the early season adjustment rankings are called Dave it's funny which I think is amazing yeah so I mean look there's obviously been a fall off with their production I three weeks in the three wins they averaged thirty two point three points per game next three weeks and the three losses it drops to eighteen point seven points per game mm-hmm their touchdown drive frequency is down forty six percent to nineteen percent their turnover frequency is down or shoot me is up seven point one to nineteen percent so in the last three weeks they have had as many turnover drives as they have had touchdown drives which is not optimal for an offense the ground game went from five point five yards per carry two three point nine despite them leaning even heavier on the ground game red zone touchdown production drops from eighty two percent to forty four percent money down conversions forty two percent twenty nine percent passing success rates are down sixty percent to fifty percent.

But if it were were giving up blame and to pie chart his his is the biggest the offense of line gets a piece the the Vikings inability to figure out who they were off incidently gets a piece I would say the defense playing well, but not playing quite up to its talent level specially in the first three quarters of the season. They get a piece, but the biggest piece goes to number eight because this is who he's been forever. A guy who can put up big numbers guy who can throw for a bunch of yards and a guy who against good teams in the biggest games stinks. It isn't that why they got him. Well, they got him furred the first part in the hope that the second part was a Jay Gruden Washington. Problem rather than Kirk cousins problem. This was not a this is not two thousand eight AM. "Back here. First things first we'll get to bears in a second. But I say Kwan Barclay channeling his inner MJ Michael Jordan with this dunk to get the touchdown leaps from the four yard off. How many feed is the general? Twelve good John. Didn't even take her shoes. That was when he jumped I said, what are you doing? He winning got it. He's a base. This was a wildly entertaining game, really fun back and forth. Having no playoff implications. "Like we can't throw the ball not targeted enough and he should be the emphasis of the passing game. But does a trust factor. And it comes with the Dallas staff. Do they trust that the throat a ball down the field because Amari, man, he is more of a intermediate in deep threat than he is that short thinking dump stuff, and that's uncertain erupted. I mean, you just look at who he threw the ball to Colby's Lee Zeke were targeted eleven times. They called tenable for a grand total of seventy four yards like Amari, and Michael Gallup are going to be the guys we're gonna get some type of separation on the field gonna be deep threats. Like Dak is very you say, there's no you never go broke taken a profit. But you can't go broke just breaking even every year. If you lose a little bit like what I mean every time. I get a completion here. No problem. We only phrase you never go broke tech approx when you have other decis, right? All right. Their primary decision is to throw his shore. So who's going to step up meter number two? That's the problem because I thought they made the move Alan to come in. And. Be that guy. He's supposed to be the league guy. He's not he's not even on a statute. A bus Michael Gallup's inconsistent young player, but also throws have been inconsistent. So it's hard to develop continuity in the passing game. When the coaching staff doesn't believe a lot in throwing the ball down the field that part and Amari Cooper. You just don't see weekend and week out. That's what I would make them force me force me to throw the ball away from Amari Cooper because I'm a fourth feet. They have created. They will have the movement around into sly. You know, how guys are all in coverage to you got to take the target out. His back put them off. They can't jam and put them in a slot. So that he can do some o- speed os. And over rows where you can't really, you know, you really can't double him and take him away with all that said another marvelous performance by the defense. The defense basely outscored Tampa by themselves if the Gregory would have gone for touch on the defense was great and his playoff form right now. And they're gonna have to be great. If offense which parts kick around coming up Tom Brady and looked like he's got another Super Bowl run in him. That's next on first. Birth. Back here. We are going viral Baker Mayfield big for two hundred eighty four yards three touchdowns and the Browns big win over the Bengals yesterday. So how do you celebrate your seventh win obviously by rolling out the red carpet after the restart Higgins touchdown? This was creative as it a whole walk the red car or walk the. Zoo lender stole right there. Absolute he's holding that bag you got a bag now too. Arm down the photographer like rolling to take the pictures like they do it fashion shows. This is really well done. They practice this one, man. They've been putting in. Apart? I tell you what Baker bad is gray hit Grimmett, Hugh. I would've say somebody in their sweep away keep trying to embarrass me like Cobra KAI on. Karate bed beggars. Type of cat. You'll be it's gonna be a tough..

"To you. And our just one of Marconi. What do you think of that? I don't even know what a Marconi is really ruined. It. You had a flow going that guys. Right. VC's live at our show with Stu guys on ESPN radio. Ted Larsen author of the single greatest ending to a Miami dolphin game ever, maybe co author but Kenyan Drake was on with us yesterday. And said that nothing happens if not for this guy's blocked thirty five yards downfield. So we will continue to cover this one play. The only played the dolphins have given us over the last fifteen years worth talking about nationally. I was talking to gear mo- about this during the break. There should be a stat for offense of Lyman. Ted Larsen is the reason that touchdown happen. He's sprung Kenyan Drake, and he gets no credit. We're all celebrating Kenyan Drake. I know. We're going to celebrate Ted Larsen and a minute. But there should be a stat. If an offensive lineman throws the. Block. It's like a hockey you bring in rose the block that allows a guy to scored touch them. All right. You bring it up to him in the next segment, and we'll see if we find that. That's that. It's not just that though, Dan. We were also talking about touchdowns. Some plays aren't touchdowns by quarterbacks touchdowns by the receivers. So the quarterback shouldn't be getting credit for those touched. We're redoing stats, Dan. We'll get back to you. When we have more of this is happening in advanced metrics, right? You're not redoing anything. This is stuff that people are doing all the time. But we're doing it differently. What billion I would like to have they touchdown committee. If you throw a two yard screen pass and Todd Gurley takes it ninety five yard that should not be a full touchdown for Jared Goff. Let me ask you. This question might be an ignorant one on the Kenyan Drake play. Who gets the credit for the passing yards there? Does it get broken up? Kenny Santa hill, did the least. Okay. Okay. But who, but I'm talking about just the typically never mind in terms of Stu gods credit giving I'm talking about statistically that's a sixty nine yard touchdown pass. But I'm asking does does the devante Parker. Get four yards for the four yards. He ran with the ball. Yeah. No. It does break down like that. Devante Parker gets five. I don't think that's true. Yes. Still fourteen Parker gets five and Drake gets whatever forty nine or whatever. The the balance. You're joking right? No. I'm serious talking about passing arts here passing yards is all tannehill. So what six listening? No, no, wait a minute. Wait a minute. I was talking about how does it break down in terms of receiving yards? Of course, the hill is going to get the passing yards. He's the only one throwing a path. Look, I can't make fun of you, Chris or Cody or anybody today because I've had the single worst start to a show that I've had in fifteen years doing I've spilled coffee on myself three times this morning, and once all over the floor here after I hit my head on a bottle of tequila. That's the thing that actually happened this morning. Eight thirty somebody centers seven ninety ticket down here. Miami centers sent me a Christmas.

"Make put things in place that were in the red zone at the four yard line. I always think that Cam strength like four yard line red zone. I you can't defend him. I mean, he's literally bigger than defensive ends. He's a better athlete. That's one of the things where if they they can sometimes struggle in between the twenty s but then get down to that red zone. I don't want any part of having a face Cam really impressive. What they've been doing not impressive the New York Jets. They lost their third straight game yesterday. Sam darnold is fifty bad thirteen two six loss. Dolphins threw four interceptions including pick six which is actually the only touchdown of the game. Here's darnold after his beautiful form. Yeah, he was brutal. And there's no excuse for you know, how it played out there. I mean. I got to play better, scabby Sherpur. He's got to go out there with will not you know, I think personally, I have to have better planning. Once I get to the line of scrimmage. I got to know exactly where to go with the ball. And if one or two not go to three so it's got a better plan. He looks so young yesterday. I mean, first of all he is young. He's two years younger than Baker. And they don't have anything to work with. But yet here's my concern. I predicted before the year he's gonna have eighteen picks. He's going to be all over the map. He's going to be over his head because they have battle line yesterday, though, he was far worse than a month ago. And that's what worries me. Debt stands are a little worried. Also kind of starting to throw the Mark Sanchez comparison. Boy now, he's not Mark Sanchez. No, I think it's way too early to fan in this situation. All the way Troy Aikman was one in fifteen. I I I don't I don't like flipping out about rookie quarterback. It's it's really stupid and look Jared Goff. Okay. Jerry office in the MVP conversation. He was he's got the right coach and the right system. And he he was worse than all these rookies. His first year. Everyone was going on buses disaster is the worst picking NFL history. And now they're Super Bowl bound. Everyone show on the rookie quarterback. I mean, it was bad. Yeah. But you can only go up from here that positive finally. Back to last week. When Matt Patricia was in the middle of speaking with the press as he NFL, other coaches, other NFL coaches doing had this exchange. The reporter who asked him about the Golden's hate trade. Yeah. To me favorite just kinda sit up and just like have a little respect for the process everyday. You couldn't ask me questions, and you just kind of like give me this. But I mean, like be a little respect for just I'm asking just to be a little respectful in this whole process. Okay. So as me question professionally and I'll answer for you. Well, the lions lost the Vikings yesterday and short news put this headline across sports page clearly firing shots. And unfortunately, when you come at someone like that you'd better come correct. And they did not the thing that worries me it's not losing the last two weeks. Joy, the lions haven't competed. Stay were never competitive in this game. They were never competitive against Seattle. You can lose all day long in this league. I mean, the bears have lost a bunch of Heartbreakers Miami's lost. But when when I the last two weeks with joy that that they're not as bad as Oakland. But they look a little like Oakland. I mean, it sounds silly. Because it's really all about wins and losses, but how you lose matters. You know, you wanna you wanna make progress if you're going to be losing lots of games, and that was just I was mad, and you're not helping situation when you do things like that. I know like you said go up to the podium with the plan. Yeah. Can't fire shot about the way that somebody's sitting in a chair. And then not when. You're not when you're three and four maybe if you're seven and own. Bad news. Well, that's the news and thanks for stopping by heard lie, by the way, I said earlier the AFC is. I feel like it's set patriots Steelers. Texans. Chiefs are gonna win their division. Chargers. One of the two playoff teams. I my guess is Andrew luck in the colts become the second wildcard team the NFC. Good luck. I think Dallas losing tonight going to three and five..
"four yards" Discussed on Bang the Book
"Thirty four yards. This weekend are this year. I I would lean on the Memphis. I near plus the points not going to be one of my stronger bets the week, but that's where my is. I've been pretty high on Memphis this year. I mean, I haven't found a tunnel line value where they've been steamed in a lot of games, but I m pretty high on them. I've got this one, this plus one some a little bit lower than the market, certainly. And we're dabbling around key numbers. But the thing about this game really for both teams is they've both played schedules in the one forties in the one fifties per Sagger. And so they're both stepping up in class you're simultaneously. Memphis is only two losses both to option teams movable very well against navy just couldn't win that game. So that's what I'm kind of curious about is how they step up in class playing somebody comparable. And I do think these teams are very comparable to each other. I don't know which one I trust is that a spot where I want to trust the, the more established coaching staff that's been there like with Memphis or do I want to take the team that probably has the higher ceiling and is the better team overall in central Florida. I'm not quite sure. Yeah, and that's question. You're gonna have to ask and look, double revenge. Sounds nice. But reason why sometimes a team wins two games over you and obviously the first matchup last year, it was a blowout pre UCF. I numbers are close for me just to Lena Memphis because of I just think that matchup blind scrimmage. We'll move onto a game that came by listener requests. Here. This was going to be Tennessee against Auburn. One eighty five eighty six down from eighteen to fifteen pretty much market wide bookmaker now down to fourteen and a half couple of fifteen and a half sporadically out there across the market. You mentioned this already auburn's not very good, but they're certainly much better than Tennessee. So how do you see this early kickoff in the state of Alabama. Yeah, good point. I mean, I I've downgraded Auburn significantly more than a touchdown since third of the season. And so my number was closer to the opener here. I had a closer to eighteen. It's good spot for Tennessee. I'll say that coming off a bye sometimes I like the reset button or the first year coach. With that week off, they've showed some signs I, they turn over issues against over to that final doesn't look as bad as what it really was. And I thought they were fighting there in the second. Half is twenty four, twelve law game against Georgia. So they've been decent. I wonder how much Auburn has left in the tank. I mean, offensively cluster injuries on the offense. A line. They were dominated the line of scrimmage last week against Mississippi State. Their defense is on the field for nearly forty two minutes. And again, you gotta fresh Tennessee team, but sometimes you just gotta play the numbers and with a drop down to fifteen. I'm gonna lean on Auburn here, but don't say that with a lot of high confidence. What's a really good question about all. Auburn, I mean, when you look at teams that have certain expectations that want to be in the college football, playoff discussion wanna play in one of those for lack of a better term BCS types of bowl games. Auburn already has two losses. They played Texas a. and m. at home there at Georgia and they're on the road for the iron bowl against Alabama team. That appears like they cannot be beaten this season. So if you're an Auburn Tigers player or even a coach for that matter what? What is the endgame here for this season? What is the ultimate goal? I mean, the ultimate goal is winning the pool and trying to screw over Alabama. That's pretty much it at this point. Maybe you wanna play that game on the road in Athens against Georgia, but Tennessee ole miss that liberty game on the seventeenth. I invested they're going to be in any of those three games..

"At draft dot com. Slash ballers you want some hot tips. You want some discussion about best ball, and we give you a brief segment once a week, and that's what we're doing right now. So here's my question. We talk so much about guys that are what we call best ball players like Sean Jackson, right? Like you may not want him week in and week out. But in best ball, you might get two weeks where this dude he has one hundred seventy four yards in touchdowns. So we know what a great basketball player is great. Best ball type of start is Martavis. Bryant was one of these guys as well. Maybe that this year, what's a bad best ball player, what's bad best ball pit. Now, to me, that's a guy like years past that's saying I'm not rolling anquan Boldin ow in best ball. 'cause I don't. I don't see the upside of fair a baseline guy in in best ball at wide receiver where you have seven guys on your team. How often is an Quan Bolden type of player a kind of consistent. In, oh, underneath receiver, possession guy. Do you agree with that assessment or what are you look at as a bad best while option? Yeah. I mean, I I agree with, I don't necessarily agree exactly what they income Bolden specifically, but I agree with what your son late career. So here's kind of what I believe is a bad basketball, pick win. You're in the later rounds. If you draft a guy who is a possession between the twenties guy who's later around and he's not a, he's not a touchdown scorer. He's probably never going to crack your roster. You're going to want in those later rounds guys that have the opportunity to actually get in the end zone and fill that flex spot fill that wide receiver or that tight end spot better than you know if you're going with say three tight ends. If that's your strategy, go with the tight ends who maybe they're not used between the twenties that much, but around the goal line, you know, the Tyler Kroft type of player. It can be used as opposed to the guy. That's just going to get, you know, forty yards, which is okay for tight end, but is never used around the goal line like a jerk. You have anything data that micro. We good. We're good. I just wanted to say like these, these starting type running backs who as specifically on a highlight, not that we don't ever talk about kerryon Johnson, but Luxair blunts you on the surface. It seems like Lagarde blunts is he's a fine best ball pick. He should be the starter for the Detroit Lions week one. He just he's old. He is. He's not on the type of teams that he's been on in the past, even though the Detroit Lions have improved offense of line. But he is very likely to lose his job in my projections. So those are the types of guys that I tend to avoid. Like Chris Carson. I'm gonna of he's yet. Okay. We're saying he's the started right now, but. I don't want I, I think he's just a waste of a roster spot unless you're considering him a handcuff. All right. Hopefully enjoy the mock draft next week.
