He has a to forty one average. A two eighty five. On base percentage four seventy slugging percentage and seventy five opie s. He would definitely be higher. Had he not gotten hurt it has missed quite a few games as of late with the mets. He's he's been hurt as have as has francisco indoor for both both shortstops for the mets that they traded for this year not working out for him right now. when they're on the field and healthy it does seem to help though. Ao hino suarez is in fourth place with one hundred and forty four strikeouts. He only has a buck. Seventy two average a two fifty nine on base percentage four. Seventy slugging percentage. Shohei otani is in fifth place followed by all these garcia and six on the outside looking in shohei has one hundred forty two ks on the year. All these garcia has one hundred and thirty five are league leader in walks. Is joey gallo. He's also tied for first with one. Soto both of those guys have eight walks on the year and are well ahead in first place i will say it is a little bit more impressive. That wants soto has done. It has at eight walks in six less games that joey gallo robbie grossman is in third place in walks. He has seventy four walks on the year. By the way one soto a four seventy three on base percentage if he didn't remember before but robbie grossman the left. Four detroit has a has had seventy four walks this season so far and a three sixty on base percentage to show for it. they're both followed by freddy freeman. Excuse me those guys are followed by freddy freeman and carlos santana tied for fourth with sixty nine walks a piece freeman's batting on base percentage is a three ninety-three santana's is a three thirty five. They're both fall or there followed by. Max muncie. who's on the outside looking in in walks with sixty eight so far on the year we go over pitching stats next. An art league leader in. Era is walker bueller right now with a two. Oh nine era. He's followed by brandon. Woodring corbin burns both milwaukee starters brandon woodruff as a to eighteen. Era in corbin burns a to twenty three e. r. et your liter in the american league for your era is lance lynn. He chew twenty six. And then fray peralta winds out rap rounds out that top five in era four milwaukee with a two twenty six era. Whatever they're doing in milwaukee whatever they're feeding or whatever they're being able to sneak onto the ball or something is working in milwaukee. I don't know what's going on over there but the goodness is it really interesting to watch them. Play baseball. given guzman is in six plays on the outside looking in the san francisco as as a to forty. Era only fourteen points behind the fifth-place leader. Technically use mon is in fifth place in the national league. I should say stroman. Also haven't quite year sub three era for him. He has to seventy nine era. Max scherzer zack wheeler also in the top sand with you fifty six hundred to sixty nine.

"Tony Shores head coach. Of the state champion C H c, a baseball team he will check in in our next segment, couple other things that jump out over the weekend that I liked. You saw the Votto home run, and the reaction is he hit home plate and headed towards the dugout. A fired up and I mean an overly fired up. Joey Votto. Um, I loved Earlier in the week. The Vladimir Gutierrez start in the frustration in the first inning, and he went to the dugout in any through his mitt in anger at the running, given up in the first inning in Nick Castellanos, the veteran is the story goes, walked over to him and and calmed him down and said, Um I want you to go seven innings tonight. And he made him say it. I'm going to go seven innings tonight. I liked what Lucas Sim said yesterday. About the bullpen. Quote. We're at a point where we came together as a group in realized it can either go one or two ways. At this point, boys, let's figure out something. Come together of the bullpen as one We're at a point. You can go one of two ways that this boy boys, let's figure something out. Five arms yesterday combined. For one run allowed now. That doesn't mean the bullpen is fixed far from it. But David Bell 123 arms give me the fourth arm. Let's try the fifth arm five combined to give up one run. I thought Tony Santy in what was good in his debut, four and two thirds innings. Five hits, four walks, struck out five. He allowed just one run. Now he was under a lot of stress, a lot of pressure a lot of traffic on the basis. Um, he he allowed What? Nine. Well, there were 12 runners left on base. The Rockies went oh, for nine with runners in scoring position against him. It started rating. He's pitching a great American ballpark, which is a tough place to pitch in. He got out of it, He's going to have to be much better. That's a team that scores the fewest runs in baseball on the road in the Rockies. They've scored 16 fewer runs than anybody else in baseball on the road this year. That's a team that's hit 10 fewer home runs than anybody in baseball, Um said, uh, fewer than the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road this year. So Tony is going to be have to be much better, but give him credit..

"It's been an injury shortened season, 31 swinging a foul right at home plate. That would have been ball four. Walk, slow strikeouts and those two big seasons in 2018 2019. Still walks a lot, but a lot more swinging, missing his bet. Starting with the 2020 season. There's never got going last year Injury shortened season only 64 at bats coming into play today two to tie bottom of the ninth inning dangerous hitter at the plate. Soto sets the three to swing and a miss. He got hit with a high fastball that wrong. Oh, one Wow. That's electric. Chiyo. Funkhouser just worked two superb innings of work. He's just getting better and better. Two innings, no runs, one hit, no walks and four strikeouts. For Kyle Funkhouser. So does last outing against the Yankees. Couple of days ago. Through some of the best sliders you will ever see. Getting a couple of big outs. Against Stanton and Judge Swinging, fouled out of play. Strike one on Many opinions. This'd now the picture's spot. Sam Querrey on becoming a stay-at-home dad

"Our special guest is Sam. Query SAM is a thirty two year old ranked number forty five in the world who just welcomed his first child a baby boy in February with his wife. Abby Dixon he tells us what it's like to jump from full-time tennis pro two fulltime Dad. As a member of the council he has a lot of insight into all the decision. Making that's been happening regarding the schedules in twenty twenty. And he also laments the loss of Wimbledon as someone that has reached the semi-finals there in two thousand seventeen and the quarter finals twice. He's GonNa Miss The all England club a lot this year but you still has world team tennis to look forward to something that he prioritizes each year. He tells us why. So here's our episode with Sam Querying All Right Sam. Welcome to the PODCAST. Thanks for joining us today. For having me. Let's kick off with number one question these days. How is this quarantine treating you? And what is life like in the Query Household You know it's the quarantines brutal like everyone else I mean. I know people have bigger problems when I got here at home but It's tough not playing tennis. Not Outside I feel bad for the rest of the US and the rest of the world so hopefully this all end in a in a few months and we can Flattened the curve as they say and as far as it goes for me and my wife and I have a five week old son at home. So we're keeping busy. You know up during the night or you know. Mostly her feen and You Know Swat on him gone on some neighborhood walk so he's keeping US busy. So that's the No the one good part for this is that I get to be home with my little newborn son where Norway to normal tennis schedule. I probably would have missed a handful of these first few months. Yeah your son was born from what I can tell February nineteenth. That is a very very newborn baby. You were not expecting to become a full-time father so quickly. Were you know we were? Actually you know we. We were down in the Indian Wells Tournament. We drove down my wife. My mother-in-law father-in-law. My parents were down there. The tournament got cancelled and and You know we. We drove back home. And then you know we've been home ever since I was planning on. Go to Miami. I'm going to Miami and Houston and kind of getting a little break. I guess you would call it away from waking up early and waking up during the evenings to help out but You know now I'm just at home during the full-time fulltime dad thing or as much as I can't do that you know the man doesn't. I don't offer that much to the child. At this point it is joined the whole thing. I mean this is your first child. It's very exciting. I mean tell us more about Ford. Where where'd you get that name from? Actually it's a very unique name. Yes it's a family named for my wife side. It's her grandmother's name. And so it Kinda popped up popped up in our heads a few months before he was born and we we both really liked it. And so we We stuck with it and so far. Being a dad is great. I've really looking forward to having kids for a while and so's my wife and so you know this process. It's definitely challenging. Like anyone would say with the you know trying to keep them happy and basically you know you need your undivided attention between one of us. Twenty four seven but it's really fulfilling and really fun and he. He slowly getting to the point where he's kind of having some little expressions on his face and smiles every now and then you can tell starting to look at you a little more We also have a one year old chocolate labs or trying to get the two of them to get along which is a little tricky right now but a hopefully they'll become friends and a couple of years. Technically you have two babies at home. Pretty much Yes exactly the dog obviously has more energy than any animal. I've ever seen in my life and then the baby Kinda sleeps all day. So they're they're kind of on opposite schedules which is funny but you know definitely adds a little twist things when you've got the one year old puppy to deal with as well of the positives that. I'm sure that you can see. Is that by having puppy? That is a chocolate lab and super energetic. Probably have a lot of time to go and exercise with him. Exactly we're going You know like a lot of the neighborhood where we live. I mean it when we we've gone on to three or four walks day and you see a bunch of kids their bikes out on skateboards and everyone kind of is leaving the house at some point or other during the day trying to get some exercise of course keeping away from each other. But it's a very active neighborhood right now. We've seen a lot of players finding creative ways to stay fit and even trying to maybe have Iraq in their hands and even hitting on little home tennis courts. Did you have a court? You can hit on nearby. That's safe so to speak or are you keeping the tennis spirit alive. Yes no I mean in Los Angeles. We're right now. There's a handful of people that have private tennis courts around. I didn't hit this last week. I'm not hitting this week but to pay on how long this kind of warranty lasts. I am going to have to find a court at some point and get some reps in so There's a couple of people I know that. Have accorded their house. I can open with a coach. Keep it to two or three people and and probably kind of get some reps in some tiny houses on my and things like that and then hopefully when things are are lifted and we have a little more freedom to walk around You know I can get back some more. A kind of Richmond in practice of some of the other pros. Do you WANNA get back. Start playing again. But you don't really have a reason to just yet so speaking of recording this a little bit ahead of the official news but it looks like Wimbledon. It's going to be cancelled. And you are someone that has absolutely thrived at the All England Club. You've made the semi-finals their quarterfinals. Twice a move like that. Are you shocked by having the Grassi's in now go yeah? I'm I'm really bombed? I saw it coming. I think everyone saw him coming You know we've got to get this virus under control but not only just because it's Wimbledon but every time it gets cancelled. It's it's such a huge bummer and You know like you said it's hard to start practicing because we don't know the start date of when we're gonNA play so it's not a let me answer a lot of players are now. You're not overly motivated to get in the gym and get on the Court. Because hey is are we gonNA play again in three months and six months in twelve months? So it's tough to time it so just got to kind of do your best to stay active and and hit when you can and and then once the You know once we know what's going on and we know. Hey we're GONNA start playing tennis October. I really for a player like me and I think most buyers if you have four to six weeks to prepare and practicing tim you can be back to your your high end playing level relatively soon exactly. I think that's that's a pretty good way to look at it but again I mean I'm still pretty stuck on this thing. You made the quarterfinals there last year. And now you know that the rankings are at this point frozen. Is it a massive relief thinking that you don't have to defend that no? I mean I'd rather I look. I'd rather I'd rather go play lose first round lose all the points and just be able to play Wimbledon to to miss. It is is worse than than worrying about defending points. I mean I know some people might be worried about that but for me. I'm not worried about defending points. I'd rather go out and lose. First Round of the next fifteen tournaments. I play but at least have the chance to play so I guess we're not exactly sure on the tour what we're doing the ranking jet as of now. They're frozen wants to get going again. We'RE GONNA determine how they're going to you know how points drop off how they're going to or how they're gonna go about doing the ranking system. So like I said I. I'm not worried about the points coming off and I would rather just play the council meetings. I mean it's it's hard to have everybody's opinions and different people shouting at different things at different ways on how to keep the points how to defend the points how to restructure the ranking system. Pretty much by the time we come back. Were you on the end of wanting to keep the freeze or were you against the freeze? Or what are your thoughts on the whole process on figuring out the ranking system? Yeah I'm for the freeze in. I'm on I'm on the player council assignment although the phone calls and things and there's so many different options in scenarios and we're trying to narrow down to the best one and the only thing that I can really say for sure is whatever solution we come to. It's not gonNa work for everyone. There's GonNa be people that benefit from it and people that don't benefit from it. So that's what makes this difficult as well as there's not going to be a perfect solution and that that's what tennis all sports all things alive. There's not going to be a perfect solution that fits everyone so everyone has to be somewhat flexible with whatever the decision is that the council sort the tour decides when it comes to the

"Four that's one eight two four two five three or four walking back fifty days before that I Pinna cost of the Christian church brings us to the day when the high priest would normally be waiving that sheaf of the first fruits before God that she that one owner of green that they couldn't eat any grain until it actually presented to God. Now that that curious ceremony is normally considered a Jewish ritual. However, when you look at this the harvest begins on that day when he takes that basket of I write green in waves it before God, the harvest begins that day, and for fifty days thereafter, they work six days rest, the Sabbath work six days rest, the Sabbath for seven savitz until Pentecost. But something else was going on here though on that same morning. No, one saw the moment of Jesus resurrection. So we have no testimony as to exactly when that took place. What we do know from the gospel accounts is that Mary Magdalene came to the sepulcher while it was still dark and found the tomb open and Jesus gone. So here we are Jesus is risen he's not there. Mary Madeline standing there. Puzzled and hurt and confused. You'll find this now in the twentieth chapter the book of John. Mary stood outside the tune crying as she wept. She bent over to look inside. And she saw two angels in white seated Jesus body had been wanted to head the other foot woman. Why are you crying? And she said, well, they've taken my Lord away. And I don't know where they've put him at this. She turned around and she saw Jesus standing there. But she did not realize that it was him a whi appearance was altered. But also, it may still have been dark. Woman. He said, why are you crying who are you looking for? She said, it was the gardener. And she said surf you've carried him away. Would you tell me where you put him in? I will get him and Jesus said to her called her by name, Mary and she turned toward him and cried out in era make rebel. And Jesus said don't hold onto me for. I have not yet returned to the father go instead to my brothers and tell them I am returning to my father in your father to my God and your God. Now, there's something important understand here. Jesus would not actually ascend from the earth to the father permanently for another forty days. So what does he mean was his go tell my disciples? I'm returning to my father and your father well between the time he appeared to Mary Magdalene and the time he later saw his disciples the same day and let them touch him. Hold him handling. He had ascended in presented himself to the father in the intervening time probably at the same time. The priest was waving that sheaf of the first fruits in the temple before. God Jesus was appearing before the father in heaven. Striking thing about so much of the Old Testament ritual is it is all about Christ. Now this happened on a singular day of the year. It is the first day of the seven weeks of harvest leading up to Pentecost also called the feast of first fruits, and this underlines one of them was common. Errors people make about the New Testament. This was on a Sunday morning to be sure, but the Jewish manner of speaking of Sunday was to call it the Marl after the seventh or I think in the the day after the Sabbath they did not call it the first day of the week. It's a term unknown really non used in either Old Testament or New Testament by Jews so one of the disciple saying when they described this day as the first day of the week. Well, it is the. First day of the seven weeks of harvest day. One of the fifty day countdown to Pentecost literally in Greek it is the first day of the Sabbath and the word is plural. There is no word here for week. The Jews basically used the term seven for them. But this is the first day after the Sabbath. Now, it's odd how strong the idea of the first day of the week has entered into Christian tradition when it's really not a reference to a day of the week. But a day of the year when the wave sheaf was offered. But never mind that for now. Let's walk back down that fifty days to the first Christian Pentecost. Jesus told his disciples. Don't go home wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon you with power now, they weren't entirely clueless. What this meant the Holy Spirit came upon men of old they were filled with the Holy Spirit. And usually the result of it was they prophesied they had a word from God that they passed onto men. So as I say they weren't clueless. But there was no way they could have anticipated. What was about to happen in what it was going to really mean? Now, they didn't have long to wait a mere ten days after crisis Incheon when the day of Pentecost was fully come. They were all together in one place, which of course, is exactly what you would have expected to disciples to do. They had kept this day. The feast of Shalva wa the feast of I. Fruits what we call Pentecost all their lives. It was one of the appointed times of God, they knew that God acted in history on these appointments. And therefore, they must have expected that the fulfillment of what Jesus had promised in terms of being empowered by the Holy Spirit would come at this time. So they were all together in one place, and I have very little doubt in some intimidation. And suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. And they saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each one of them. I think you could call this hair raising experience having that incredible roar, and all of a sudden stream of fire coming across the ceiling, and a little stream of descending on each one of them by what a moment, and there's no way that they could have intimidated, the physical manifestations of the spirit they saw and felt on this day all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit enabled them. Now. This. Underlies a longstanding belief that people have of speaking in unknown tongues as they call it glow. So that as it's otherwise called speaking in tongues is thought to be a manifestation of the spirit kind of a proof of the spirit baptism of the spirit. If you will. On this occasion. It was a manifesto, right? But it was not merely that listen to one followed. Now there were staying in Jerusalem, God fearing Jews from every nation under heaven when they heard this sound the crowd came together in bewilderment because each one heard them speaking in his own language mind, you these were not unknown tongues. They were known languages the men who ran together recognize probably from the garb of the disciples. They were local to Palestine. And utterly amazed. They asked these people speaking, we're all galions. How do we each of them? Hear them in his own native language. Much is made of the question of the precise miracle here was speaking in the speaking or was it in the hearing. There's no doubt when you see the whole picture the disciples were speaking in languages, they had never learned when they were enabled to do. So by the spirit is more than that. These languages are named stay with me. We'll run on through this as soon as I come back..

"Begin with the big news out of France. The burning of the Notre Dame cathedral. Their lead. The outer structure was indeed saved according to French fire services Sky News says flames broke out at the twelfth century building on Monday evening, quickly devastating this fire and roof and sending plumes of smoke into the sky. One fire was serious firefighter was seriously injured local media say police were treating the blaze as an accident. French president Emmanuel Macron's and he was so sad tonight to see this part of us all burn declared, a national emergency speaking from the scene in Paris express, sympathy with Catholics around the world following the terrible tragedy. But added that the worst had been avoided, and then he vowed to launch an international fundraising campaign, for instance, minister originally warned that the four hundred firefighters scrambled to the scene would not be enough to save the cathedral. But a junior minister from the department later said they were more optimistic that the cathedral itself could be spared. A French firefighter official confirmed that Notre Dame structure and two towers had indeed been saved from total destruction Prime Minister Theresa may said her thoughts with the people of France tonight. And with the emergency services are fighting the terrible blades, the video of it was just. Astonishing and shocking the area where the spire once was was still burning with sparks falling from the cathedral vaulted ceiling as of Monday night, people outside were singing hymns and gasping as they watch much of the much of the cathedral burned to the ground. The Paris mayor and had although urged the public to respect the security perimeter around the cathedral while firefighters tackled. The terrible blaze added that the areas close to the scene were evacuated. Rich Lowry over at national review has a good review about what exactly Notre dominant means. Does Notre Dame stands for so many qualities that we now lack patients and staying power the cultivation of beauty a deep religious faith, the cultural confidence and ambition to build a timeless monument of our civilization that the collapse of inspire is almost too much to bear the great novelist. Victor Hugo who did so much provide interest in the cathedral when it was in disrepair in the nineteen th century wrote. How quote every surface every stone of this. Venerable pile is a page of the history, not only of the country, but of science and art work of generations completed across three centuries in triumph over considerable arc. Conceptual and logistical challenges at arose at the original site of a pagan temple thousands of tons of stone has to be transported from outside Paris, one ox-cart or barge at a time. So cheated soaring height and hold up at ceiling and walls relied on the architectural innovations of the rib vaults and the flying buttress France, built eighty cathedrals in five hundred large churches across this period says rich lower there's only one at Notre Dame of Paris gothic jewel who's towers prior. To the advent of the Eiffel tower the tallest structure in the city. It is or one hates to think was torn by what are culturally significant artifacts in their own, right. The statutory meant to illustrate the story of the bible and to all worshippers couldn't read the stained glass windows, that took ingenuity to embed in stone, walls and are themselves are tick Marvel's the Oregon with more than eight thousand pipes the bells with their names, including the largest masterpiece. Emmanuel dating back to the fifteenth century and recast in sixteen eighty one not to mention the religious relics. That means so much to the Catholic faithful it has been the of countless processions in services to petition and thank God on behalf of the French nation. It is where less is. Marriages and funerals occurred or Napoleon crowned himself emperor or Charles de Gaulle attended a mass to celebrate the liberation of Paris in nineteen forty four riflefire echoing outside it's revived the rampages of iconoclastic huge knots in the sixteenth century the depredation of radicals during the French revolution into the eighteenth century. They transformed it into a friend to the cult of reason used it. As a warehouse in wanted to melt down the bells and incidental damage during two world wars in the twentieth century all the while at accumulated layers in history. And meaning it's great advocate Hugo author of the famous Hunchback of Notre Dame wrote of how the greatest productions of architecture are not so much work of individuals as a community. I rather the offspring of a nation's labor than the outcome of individual genius that a positive a whole people the heaped up treasurer of centuries, the residual left by successive evaporation of human society in a word a species of formations each wave of time leaves it's coating of Luhya alluvial each race deposits layers on the monuments, each individual contribute to stone to it. And that of course is exactly right is amazing at tweeted something out that I thought frankly was. Was really uncontroversial. I tweeted out that Notre Dom was a was a totem to western civilization and of western civilization, and people that very upset with this particularly a lot of folks on the left were very upset with this. I tweeted out if we wish to uphold the beauty and profundity of the Notre Dame cathedral means reefa millions ourselves with the philosophy and religious principles that built it means reefa. Millions ref- Amelia rising ourselves with the precepts of Catholicism with western history with what Catholicism was without contributed to the west. And all this stuff seems deeply important to me this became very controversial lot of folks on the left were very upset with me for suggesting this. They said why can't we just appreciate it just as a piece of art? You can appreciate it. However you want, but if you want to know why so many people in the west were deeply affected by the burning of Notre Dom. It wasn't just because it was icon. Ick is because Notre Dame holds deeper meaning because it is a totem of a chain of history that culminates in the modern west. They can see the sort of sort of anodyne version of mourning for the cathedral from Ilhan, mar she tweeted out art and architecture have unique ability to help us connect across our differences and bring people together and important ways. Thinking of the people of Paris in praying for every first responder trying to save this wonder. Again, it's fine to look at Notre Dame is just art and architecture, but it has deeper resonance than that. And that was the point that I was making is that the residents of Notre nam is about the faith that inspired. Notre and listen, this is coming from a Jew this coming for an orthodox Jew house. So important to remember then note for Dom is again a historical monument to the chain of history of which we are apart and Ronin entire book about this. My book the right side of history talks about this chain of history Judeo Christian history of the west and how Judaism and Christianity combined with Greek reason in play in intention created the world in which we live. I want to read a section from the talking about the period during which Notre Dame was built Notre Dame. Of course was built during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Took a couple of centuries to complete which in and of itself. Is an amazing testament to the human mind ends of the power of the eternal to inspire the human mind. Because after all why plant the tree if you're not going to get to sit in its shade. Why build a building if you know that you're not gonna get completed because our task is not to complete the building. Our task is to join in the building of that structure in the first place. Here's what I talk about in my book with regard to this period in western history. From the fall of Rome through the twelfth century. Christianity would spread from its base in the Italian peninsula in the British Isles, France, Germany, and eventually the Nordic countries as well. Well, understand had posited. A great divide between the city of God. In the city of van. The Catholic church was quite active in the city of man, the church receive tithes from Christians the Continente over had its own ecclesiastical courts by the tenth century, the church was the single largest landowner in western Europe kings found their legitimacy through the conduit of the church and battles with the church to expand their own power. Holy Roman Emperor. Henry the fourth walk barefoot in the snow earn back the approval of pope, Gregory the seventh and within seconds of England eleven thirty three to eleven eighty nine had himself flogged in order to win back. The. Approval of his Christian population. After accidents ordering the death of archbishop Thomas Becket popular history maintains that this period represents the dark ages, but that's simply inaccurate progress. Continued as Christianity spread the monastic system centralized learning in monasteries where priests nuns devoted themselves with Sediq pursuit of divine understanding in educational terms this devotion revolved around scripture. The Benedictine monks. For example, lived under the rules created by Saint Benedictine for eighty two five forty seven a set of orders regarding the hierarchy of monasteries the behavior by which to abide and the requirements of work the arts thrived in the monastic system manuscripts were preserved by monks devoted to writing new copies and beautifying them in the monastic system. The liberal arts taught by the Greeks and the Romans as championed by Cicero and Seneca among others survived albeit in Spiritualized form gusted himself, despite his distaste for paganism suggested that the liberal arts education could be hijacked for service to God. I'll Guston likened such cultural appropriation to the Jews taking gold during the biblical exodus. These liberal arts were categorized by the philosopher both into the famous Quadra, verion music, arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy and trivia, grammar rhetoric and logic. Meanwhile, the middle ages saw technological revolution. In agriculture, the rise of commerce institution of new forms of art ranging from polyphonic music to gothic architecture. Notre Dame would be a perfect example of gothic architecture. It also saw new developments in the art of war with technology developments that would allow the west to defeat its enemies in the course of coming centuries while many history historians tout the power of Islamic civilization during this time period and Islam civilization did thrive on the Arabian peninsula, particularly when his Llamas civilization came up against western civilization. At the battle of tours Islamic forces were soundly defeated by the eighth century. Christian leaders were crusading against enslavement, except notably for the enslavement of Muslim war. Captives monasteries were engaging in proto capitalism as well. Furthermore, the Catholic church was responsible for learning and teaching virtually all literacy sprang from honest, Aries still the modern world could not have been created. Under these circumstances. But I write my book faith provided individual moral purpose faith provided collective moral purpose, but while individual capacity was bolstered by the doctrinal belief in free will and the value of work reason had been made secondary to faith. Well, collective capacity was bolstered by the presence of a strong social fabric. The all encompassing. Power of the Catholic church and the rule of monarchs that that individual choice. It was heavily circumscribed even education had been radically reoriented toward the church ultra knowledge lay in the bible. The liberal arts were only useful so far as they bolstered the biblical story for science and democracy. Take hold in the west reason would have to be elevated once more
