"Say Tom Brady throws for four thousand yards or forty two hundred yards let's say and he gives you a thirty five touchdowns in say ten interceptions could be a really really good year we still have the ability to separate his play with what might be the downfalls of the football team and it's really interesting to me because I think here in New England you always knew the Tom Brady was going to have representative numbers but if they came up a game short was it the team or was it Brady whereas I think because we already have the preconceived notion in the evidence of what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were without him even if he plays great and no extra storage three hundred just year and then say they go ten and sixteen get bounced in the wild card round but Brady plays well throughout it'll be one of those well Brady did what he could do but they did bad luck didn't have a good enough team won fifty three whatever in the world it is what Brady's teams don't necessarily have to win for him getting credit of playing well into his mid forties but if there is a little bit of a drop off and they want a bunch of games I think he's still gonna get some of the credit for that anyway which is really really interesting nothing goes into play great and they go twelve and four and they're the number one seed and they've got the by then it's really going to have people crowing about the quote unquote legend of Tom Brady and sort of what he's adding to it whereas I think with Bella check if there is a five eleven season around the corner unfortunately for him he's gonna get absolutely skewered because finding a way to keep a twenty year run together and going apparently won't be good enough they should have been twenty five ended danger like eventually there is going to be that season where everything gets flipped on its head and your average or below average as you're kind of hitting the reset button here and I think bill Belichick in drafting Jimmy Jean going back to that the fault was we can keep this train rolling I'm gonna slide one out to get one in and we know Tom Brady out lived that.

"That that's not bad during the afternoon there's a jets fan you sign up for that right he signed up for that not bad so it's not as if there is a disaster or joke billion Toronto bill Europe next on CBS sports radio it's a Billy Hey Robert how you doing good I don't think I mean it is a combination of you know the coach in the owner but I think they will form with the Dallas Cowboys uses their quarterback I mean the quarterback when he came into the league with a running quarterback that could also class and I've seen it happen to many times what what these running quarterbacks the once you take away the one on them and they're going to sit back and Pat were not being quarterbacks anymore there that day if you can make a play games that don't do you find the right guy to get up off the area but when they got hit receivers that are covered man on man they looked terrible in back with black right by looking and he moves the ball up the field once you get up close to the end zone I was never a running quarterback he won the odd time though we can run he's he runs like John Elway runs you know like to refer these certain situations but I mean he's never had more than three hundred or so rushing yards in a season me can pick up the first down for you I I I don't know I don't know how you put on Jackie's at a pretty good season are easy twenty four touchdowns to just eleven picks are over four thousand yards completing sixty six percent of his passes is QBR is seventy three point four which is very good it is you know like statistically that's a really good year and QB record wise I mean I think since that came into the league only Tom Brady has a better record as a quarterback so I'm it's really tough for me to put it on deck well the reason why I say that is because I mean he'll move the ball down the field but not like the use that he doesn't throw the ball beat we tried to being can dunk like Brady don't these classes lock that's that's what you've got a high class the raid but once you get to the end of this tablet you cannot put the ball in the end zone and that's when you'll turn the ball over that those eleven interceptions come from I mean I've I've I've watched them and that I don't I I I don't I don't like the guy at all I mean I like the money for a team in the league but if if you can't if you can't put it in the end zone I mean I don't care what your stats are late game when your down you cried your that when you are but and what is not right I mean but appended to sense the other night I I look I I I I understand there's frustration when I just don't see how back Prescott of all the people he would be on the bottom left you're looking at the quarterbacks in the NFL I would put back either at the very end of tier one or the very top of tier two let's go with the top of tier two so I don't get people all upset is the top of here too you got the top you know you've got Lamar Jackson and Patrick both homes and guys like that here would tear one like legitimately great quarterbacks and then you got dak Prescott a pretty good quarterback but of all the things going on one thousand back press got that the guide to blame I don't see how you come up with that is there to get a career high in touchdowns career high in yards and by the way he's been consistently this year it is isn't tire career profile is good he's not the best quarterback who ever lived but he's a good quarterback Peter do you understand that the I I mean I get a he's the quarterback of the cowboys so make so different but I mean I I can't see dak being the guy that you're just putting just because you're the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys does it make you in a week quarterback no no no I'm saying did you the core back a cowboys he gets extra criticism when all is career profile says he's a good quarterback you know I'm with you I'm with you on that I mean he but it but your use a set of best right before he's not the biggest reason why the cowboys have been terrible he's good you could win with dak Prescott but he's but he's not he's not an overlying reason why you Dave they've stumbled here at the computer you start at the top well yeah of course you can when he's thirty eight twenty three the court these but but is he a forty million dollar a year quarterback knoll I I I I mean I don't think you I don't know if anybody's a forty million dollar you're crabby the wanted Jared Goff get whatever Jared Goff got dak Prescott should get at least as much a part yeah I think he's better than jerk off pretty clearly yes I would agree with that I would agree with that so I'm I I am at the top of tier two eight five five two one two four two two seven we keep the conversation going after the sports flash for Peter Schwartz "We've across town shoot out the doesn't read the buzz it used to the Bengals Browns match up the doesn't create above the kinda used to Jeff Bob the bangles dot com what's going on Mike how you doing thanks for I have Miano the buzz got a little bit taken out of an in Cleveland there with their loss to clutches in Steelers home so you will not open the weapon will take advantage of that it was their first win so I'd like music advantage of it to mean at some point and people know this in my pool I have to take the bangles sometime between now and the end of the season so I don't know exactly yeah I mean I think mentally they might have a little bit of an edge on our Cleveland like I said I think you know they were so hyped up during the year you know they were going to have a Super Bowl parade there yeah now there you know now they're cleaning and other cleaning up and will be interesting to see it you know I think the bangles has done a pretty good spot hello super clean with the US yeah I mean adult intends to play well when he feels like he's been dissed that was last week I see that carried over into this week too and these got John Ross back on top yeah I mean it's huge seven Ross back but yeah I thought and definitely play with the chip on shoulder and get some help on offense of wind it didn't it didn't give up a lot of pressure you know that pi played their best game of the year and you know you put no I think it could be one of those days where you know you put Ross in a line up you get X. it is and has a hot hand he's very motivated to he wants to get four thousand yards yeah you know he's a very motivated guy right now and you know you might see kind of game you start to wonder what if you know what Ross in a line up would pull it and you know before us got hurt these guys had IT nine please at least thirty yards in the first month of the season so they can use a couple of Sundays so where the Browns real problem the lack of discipline C. R. W. tell me what is that part there near the league leaders in penalties right but I yeah I'm not mistaken the great thing in order for me last night that it was the the the tangles I had to have the fewest penalty yards on the Browns of the molds yeah so you know you want to talk about the difference between the free kitchens and Zach Taylor runs you know that's that's one that that's the that's the first place to look take a hard look there and I think to Mike is safe and I think they've been trying to force feed back to try to keep them happy and I think that's come city I think that's for them they did take place then run game I think they get a terrific one game with a Chubb and hunt I don't think they really committed to it you know because they're trying to keep everybody happy land green Beckham and you know I hope the I hope they ignore Chubb and and hunter one more day we'll see what happens all right Jeff ABS good Doug do and bangles dot com is just full of fun facts in Bengal information I thank you every weekend I do the same Sir so you.

"Thing that does happen you know when you look at coaching and what the pressures of being an NFL head coach I mean NFL coaches are they're not coordinators they're they're the leaders there the the CEOs if you will when I'm not fond of Mike I I am of speaking to a lot of different CEOs and that's what it is I mean it's the whole is the whole idea of who is the leader and and the leader has to be the leader has to be that that code said head coach we see it bill Belichick right and bill Belichick is a guy who never played football has never played football but yet he is arguably one of the best head coaches of all time so what is the difference with Bella check on what he's been able to do with the with the patriots and how he's been able to how he's been able to leave them and so what it what are the attributes that you need in a head coach that makes it you know that makes it work when you're contemplating making the change in there's always gonna be a lot of changes last year there was eight coaches who were done by January and then replacements they were replaced so when you look at coaches do you wanna retread I mean somebody who failed some place else and bring them in I'll tell you coach I like Bruce Arians and Bruce Arians who did some good things when he was in the desert when he was in Arizona and then kind of wheels came came off he loves coaching I like interviewing this guy like talking on a talk to a couple different times and now you know jumping over to Tampa so is it is it is smart to do that and look for some that have had early success is it the potential guys who played that is it you know you look at Andy Reid and how he struggled at the tail end of the Philadelphia rain but then what he's been able to do a Kansas city and then the you gotta give the coordinators his sometimes don't get enough credit some credit but the head coach has to be the guy who fires a mop and and and is the guy who is the face the guy who knows how to lead the team and that's why when we see at the end of the year there's going to be more than Garrett unless somehow something changes for Jason Garrett we see that's exactly you know exactly what the formula should be is what is it what are what are the attributes you need and the successful head coach and why is it a guy like bill Belichick who never played why is he successful what makes him so successful in doing in doing the coaching that he's done for the you know for the patriots so you had someone like Garrett who love the cowboys organization what is a guy who was a quarterback for them a backup quarterback for them but some you know the difference maybe is that bill Belichick is also the general manager has become the general manager of the the patriots and and and after doing what he's done he's the NFL's longest active head coach and of course is first of all time playoff coaching wins and and then he gets the rings he gets it done so he he's able to earn that that right and his his records are there even as a defensive coordinator most Superbowl wins six there's something something about Bella check and I think he's a savant for plays that he I know guys that were scouts under bill Belichick and that's what they told me that it was amazing the way he broke down film and look at players and what a training session it was to to work in any way with bill Belichick again love him or hate him or whatever else is very very successful at what he does and how did he not you know he did he wasn't right from the get go he wasn't successful memory began his coaching career he was the defensive coordinator of the giants but the learn from bill Parcells and they won two super bowls but then as the head coach of the Browns in ninety one he was there for five seasons he was fired after the ninety five season and then he went on to greatness in New England by the way we're coming to you live the minus the turkeys from the rocket mortgage by quicken loans studios home is more than a house it's a personal paradise get yours with rocket mortgage a push button get mortgage it's just that simple rivalry week in college football I got a mention that and I did a little bit here during this show but the reason I got a mention is because right now of course we're looking at what's coming up on the board on Friday and that includes Virginia Tech in Virginia and you could say well tech is in a look at the ACC there five into but that's always a big game in Charlottesville fun to watch of the rivalries the implication games Ohio state and Michigan Clemson in South Carolina mean he says South Carolina you can't try to spoil the party of Clemson Georgia and Georgia tech Alabama and Auburn huge Minnesota they they're the overlooks team and the kind of season that they're having taking on Wisconsin that's a great game to pay attention to I think and then of course Notre Dame fans will tell you Hey we're gonna be in Stamford don't think it's any kind of a of a lay up and Notre Dame unfortunately despite some of the great play by their quarterback in book there nine and two in in the season Ellis you your other top fourteen Ellis you at two in the SEC hosting Texas a and M. in baton Rouge to me the Heisman winner is Joe burrow he's just been phenomenal with two it out I don't think there's the competition I don't think anyone else that's on the short list the competition will nip borrow from from getting that a Heisman with what he's been able to do definitely his throne for over four thousand yards just looks great he's able to make those adjustments in the game and and I think he deserves to win the the Heisman and in Florida high expectations for Florida they take on Florida state Florida state just six and five they're still trying to find their footing art is favored by seventeen and a half points in this one and here's a big one for you seven o'clock to finish things out on Saturday you have Oklahoma and Oklahoma state I think a couple of turkeys in the main studio John fast great work on the updates James a bocce only Matt Essex technical director Boccioni of course on the strings and the producer ranks I hope that you get "In your your listings of your guy here your list is flawed that cuts of player Cormac is number one is number three so defensive player my guy defense supply yeah you were you were looking up for you you love them before he was even drafted all ironed out yeah Erin down there Donald is number one how to university of Pittsburgh mall homes is true Leo mac is three Tom Brady is for the Andre Hopkins five five games Rogers Rogers six Julio Jones seven von Miller eight Russell Wilson nine to Michael Thomas Russell Wilson nine I little bit flawed I I have another when you're running backs up in there a little bit six one twelve yeah I do have sick one injuries okay let me get your thoughts no corners your first quarter first corner back a CJD what's fourteen on the phone first corner back got a couple linebackers not too far already if I gotta wait this Larson cornerback is number twenty four overall Jaylen Ramsey of the Jacksonville shot hopefully plays better this year that's trouble for you hoping plays better this year how's your quarterback over there you know they're going to make a decision on at the end of this year on who makes Stravinsky your quarterback of their little goggles they don't have to make a decision after the after this year they do have to make a decision on the fifth year they'll pick up the fifth year automatic I would say it's automatic automatic unless there's a catastrophic injury interesting to automat what if he plays Portland I still think they'll pick up the fifth year option now if he has a good year then they're probably going to sign him to a big extension after this season what do you consider a good year I would probably tell you he's got a throw at least twenty eight touchdowns twenty eight touchdowns rooms at the Barlow okay go ahead and not throw any more then twelve picks okay a little bit over two to one ratio than all right anything they're automatically picking that up I would be I don't see a scenario unless there was a catastrophic injuries we have four thousand yards at least I think I said to Chris thirty eight hundred so not even four grand he might I'm I'm just asking what your parameters are to pick this thing up Peter thirty two last year right I didn't play two games did fourteen games right correct so if you played the way he played last year which was okay he'd be at thirty eight hundred yeah well you'd be shorted thirty eighty be about thirty six thirty seven under correct interesting correct I think he's the I I think you need to be a little bit better I do too I think I know none of them come to better than your stats that your projected for what you asked me I'm just giving you a floor that he has a hit what do my prediction was my floors higher than your floors what I'm trying to tell you yeah Chris what was in I do you guys I think I predicted for him thirty three touchdowns to twelve interceptions I think that was my projection and you don't care about the arts thirty eight to four thousand somewhere in there I'm is saying it's a little bit there's a concern the bears are concerned about their quarterback in his development and he needs to play better better than last year and from there that first year the second year needs to be as big of a problem second and third year a great now when I say there's concern yeah there's concern as that someone telling you that or is that your take away no that's just me talk to my NFL people there's concerns they're concerned about their quarterback and his ability to get things done yep then and the only guy that can answer from him our main Stravinsky correct and he's got a coach that's going to spoon feed them as much as he can to get him there so you've got two good factors heading in your direction so hopefully they can find a way to get it done and I'm Tania there's not a person in the city of Chicago not one individual that is not sharing for Mr Mr to make it happen so in the coming year because show is squarely behind him the higher percent but he needs to get his head out of his **** sometime we've got laid better we we deserve his game though here what's the weakness of his game yeah his abilities in the market not dance like Fred Astaire he's he's in order of any right calm down okay listen the minute you say that date of strength of a quarterback is not his ability to run the running back okay it's not a string for a quarterback his ability to run is not a straight what that is is a detriment to him he needs to get that out of his mind he needs to be able to find his receivers any needs to be able go through his reach and a lot of that happens before the steps even happen okay if you don't have the mental aspect of the quarterback position down that's when you've got problems so what he has to do is he has to become comfortable with the game and learn to be able to read defenses what's his weakness there it is sure in the pocket he needs to be able to stand in the park and throw and not dance the dance of death the devils okay I want to see your feet there from all over the place to grab it on your pant leg and having to get the hell out of the pocket would you call it straight which is an absolute detriment to the development of a quarterback it's not a strength you heard it here first you're welcome rice we said your degree we got a talk you what do you say read the whatever he said was dismissed only shows you that violence with the Joe is a prime time for the week yeah next segment and I want to get your clothes take on Eddie Nero so was it click on top of that and in the mean at one o'clock I'm cap in for call arm he's York we'll be right back Hey guys see.

"Don't I mean in terms of the guy was going to have the best year look Tom Brady last year what was twenty nine eleven had a quarterback rating under a hundred in today's world in today's environment Tom Brady's quarterback rating last year ranks him twelfth now the highest quarterback rating was true breeze at one fifteen point seven but he didn't throw for four thousand yards but he did go thirty to win five while his numbers quarterback rating is what it what it is because of the the lack of interceptions when you compare the twelve interceptions of homes through I'm sure that that's going to doing his quarterback rating a little bit and we'll Rogers you know and then that the the question that I asked you about Rogers but look they're gonna put the ball Patrick my homes is hands and let him try to recreate what he did so like I always think that I I think the two kids Seattle is always the same yeah you know I think I think Carson once is going to have a good year don't know but it's interesting question was ready because joining as it for his pick tempers and the yes I see blue brags great he was just on one of the podcast out there they got the the fans in the stands podcasting called me out says it what's out there that's right yeah yeah you know you guys taught me cut my segment offer Mitchell on this point last week so I thought I'd let the world know that you you know you know Mike at my daughter's got a service fee Jersey and still be too big of a coward to get cold even so much for us that's what he how is it yeah I got you know what I got here I keep hearing Mitchell and displaying every day on this this is my cell mates all day all night because now and then back to you we got to get your your kid the Jersey because you guys just got here you know all about this not hall of Famers why do you hate Khalil Mack I don't hate America delays Jersey but we need more than what's wrong with the navy Jackson Jersey but we need to get money manage on their backs you need you know go with the lead the leader and Greg Greg Greg as his financial consultant I think he made a prudent financial decision buying jerseys that he knows he's never going to have to to put in mothballs now but when you get the Jersey before the greatness then you can be proud of that you're not a coward Nero Jersey crag all there you but I didn't know I would then bring your own corner why am I getting put because you got to get the Jersey early look I've been scarred it's like the ex girlfriend thing if you've been burned in a certain situation before you're gonna stay away from the flame again I had a rex Grossman orange Jersey I love the Jay Cutler Jersey I went in early on both in in in in you know what it blew up in my face what happened you got a little older you got a little wiser Gallimore prudence so now it is I'll be late to this party you gotta have both you got to have the great ones when you got to take a chance and if you guys you know back in the day I got a Devin Hester Jersey before any the before before he ever took a nap in the regular season and I'm proud of that into the hall now what do I mean what is and don't bring him in and I'm gonna put the jacket on his back when he arrives and your it yourself a Chad Hutchinson Jersey Greg I did not liar the stand I heard you know Marcus Robinson but I in on some people still love I mean Iowa that was that was an early day one can't believe you hold you a coward and we got to run thanks our he's great Greg brags is is a good do have in some fun of it yeah I'll wait I look I'm not imitator I'm just not but all in all right on that there are so many likable guys you we finally have jerseys the body for our kids of great players and I'll go in there dander can joins us next does he believe that marriage is a ripe and ready for a big season is he concerned about some of the offense of struggles swaddling Soviet ESPN one thousand Donald sterling worst slum lord of sports there was always the sense that he had a plantation mentality we had a game and it came on the radio Donald sterling making racist remarks zero zero seating with black god knew who he was why.

"Feel like you can gain more almost from practice that you can gain from the game because even when they play they barely quiet and when they played or not playing again top line guys basically and everything is still open now I'd rather back against the bears defense out of practice or close that's gonna be shown me some crazy stuff and what makes figure out what the what he can do against that doll I always prefer to err on the side of caution the worst thing that could happen would be an injury so I if if they don't play all the pre season like it it just doesn't it doesn't bother me because I know the put the time in that practice guide they practice but the practice over to have hours every morning and it is a long long track that I've covered games where it's not like that I mean the junk box your worst practices I ever saw in my life the way they were run the way they were executed you know they were done based on how they practice I think the bears actually practice very well under Matt neck so that's that's where I'm going I don't need to see if you guys received that I think mortgage dined at the team facility behind the scenes going on the week one against green back so you would not play a guy like mac or Eddy Jackson down maybe not let's Robiskie throw the ball I would that's just my opinion I would not but by can you give us an update on into the Miller's injury situation no coach said that you know they got they are expecting him to be ready for week one it's a great ankle if you'll look what happened on Saturday with the areas they if you came down and he got he could tell you all that and lebron was coming up to talk to and you walk back to the locker room under its own power I should add he tweeted everything was good and then he he had deleted the tweet and inside under that we should have had it all giving great in Saigon sorry I don't I don't think the bears were out of out of the deleted tweets because he's getting treatment don't be on your fault because you know what this practice was still going on you can't do that like you what we which practices over I'm sure which is an innocent mistake by at the mail are you the very outgoing guy I'm sure it's not the other world but there has to be a policy work I'd get be tweeting during practice right so back out but that was back white dot com yes very Nagy Phil Miller was not closed practice sprained ankle I my guess is they're going to be very cautious with them this week and get him back up and go and get off perhaps next week I would say but as I spoke about a year ago he does the practice rap at the beginning in the practice yeah well for the regular season is good because his biggest issue last year the five shoulder with a huge problem but there is also a a pretty steep learning curve for him is that thank you that with the offense in the mental stop in knowing where to be all that bad yeah and I think it's helped out more by him wrap this thing been playing in a preseason game which my guess is at this point it's pretty unlikely for him specifically what's a good feeling about where Trey Burke will be with the regular season begins all I think you'll be playing I think he's well now they're being safe and cautious I think they're Rustom back out there too quick for was ready and run well and now you know he has he's going to the routine now guys where he's he's dress stretching with the team he's going to individual stop but no team stop I practice tomorrow on Wednesday for you perhaps the about the out there to be more him work got middle of the week I don't think of like if the giants of course or anything on Friday but no I think right now barring another step back I think it is reasonable to expect that number right to go week one I JD what about the David Montgomery the stuff from that yeah yeah I thought it was funny that he sort of down played all the attention he's been game but they're they're the ones who've been building I'm up for so long yeah yeah yeah yeah the night will jump Cody at their you guys all the runners di you can't make that play you should play right Sanders here making model nine nine one don't run at the older field I mean collide it was a nice run I think having Nagy was just more of this kind of being a little silly and and that he was pretty on Saturday and Sunday I mean he was definitely again you know really into the practice that is in in in everything though his media session he was a little odd but with a little bit distracting maybe because of everything else going on what that was just the ID card looks bonding and he's right I mean you know look really nice much doubt Ron but not like the guys all main roads relax here Brian Baldinger broke down the tape and I love ball these breakdowns he's he said Montgomery is gonna be special I love all the and if all these that that that's great for the bears everything you need you just need an opportunity experience but there's a look and there's a lot to like there in just shows you that you can find a running back like that round three it just shows you where the position is gone as far as where you guys are available to be drafted so I mean I would they state do not that I don't like so much stuff out there before a guy plays a regular season game but they're very high on him and you guys know he's gonna be a big part of the office this year that's that's well the that was there still the just so you know JT ought for the NFL quarterback over unders over under twenty seven total touchdowns for Mitchell true biscuit which I believe is his number last year wasn't it one yes the what yep yep J. D. it says here your prediction is over how far seven total touchdowns is your prediction I think I wrote that weeks ago with a slight but likely over right then I write I use over to this key had exactly twenty seven touchdowns total touchdowns last year but that number is expected to increase with another season of experience and Matt Nagy's yeah here here's the offer line for me is beyond a GED predicts forty one touchdown for mixed yeah that was that address I believe that would not accurate I believe that might have been maybe Roman the drought flooding back over to the NFL that guy with the procedure the on what that in there yeah I I think lightly over I I mean very I mean like I'm talking right twenty eight our baby twenty nine but I could be a bigger throw the ball on the lot of opportunities and then you can always bank on a couple of rushing touchdowns for Max because that really is one of the best thing you've got is just the athleticism and ability to move outside the pocket to make plays on the ground listen if they get close to thirty from third let's say they get twenty nine or thirty touchdowns from Mitch this year collectively you could win a Superbowl with that absolutely a good here will we will we're kind of a so champion Bourbon day but along with end of a long way to go into the regular season get there I don't feel like training camp is over because permit eight over the pricing Lee but I mean there's still three preseason games whacked out that like got the dot no more time to work on the stump Judy great stuff as always thank you I said it I got the care they got Jeff Dickerson catching up on all the happenings from over the weekend it bears camp and the injuries and that now he's intensity yeah I like that I would want twenty seven touchdowns through dry air yeah yeah not total like anything you get on the ground as bonus yeah but I think if he doesn't make take that next step because it through twenty four last year well and also he seven also listen a lot of touchdowns are scored these days we shovel pass right that number should be fairly impressed I want I've my bars higher I am asking for makes your best you to do something that I have not seen a bears quarterback do in both categories throw four thousand yards and thirty touchdowns you got I mean look you drafted him number two yeah I want thirty touchdowns and four thousand yards than a ton of money in free agency and a lot of draft capital surrounding him with quality plan your coach is an offense of minded coach yes I think that's fair hatred.

fourth quarter if you're down to scores I don't know each thank you that's not that I can address the ramp I don't know who looks worse your call they were both a deer in headlights in making and then again solution to schedule gets tougher they get a cold drink defenses have you're game come on back and neck he I'm sorry to rescue neki so I just don't know where their quarterback and he could be a potentially good quarterback he's one of those quarterbacks that you draft thoroughly and they're still unknowns about him because he he you know right now I'd say he's a good quarterback can he be great that's the question can he be great can any one day be a leak his mobile make a big bro had some good moments again against Philly in that playoff game but can he consistently play like a great quarterback that I don't know and that's that's a bears team it's a very difficult division the worst team Detroit to try probably be a six or seven one team that does the worst team Vikings are gonna be should be a good team this year yeah the Packers and Rodgers always tough is this some aggression with the bears Hey this quarterbacks that have a big year this year as a huge year for it's not that there's there's no other way but you know going around that one and a lot of these young quarterbacks you know Goff moment serve good football moments a bad football can you get to a great level back press got all these done is when but even he has some shortcomings and he's in the good category can any of these these quarterbacks as shown some signs some more than others can they get into that great category that's a big question now the answer for it with you let's go to our in Virginia next up CBS sports radio aren Jack has gone brother thanks for taking my call enjoyed hearing you over the week Congress Gabi I think I I think is part of the homes man he you know he came out real big last year at the five thousand yards in the fifty touchdowns and everybody saying you know can be replicated can he do it again or was it a one year flu you know you got to come out if he doesn't you know because often has forty touchdowns and four thousand yards people going to say he wasn't the same not stand still I I think we got to be reasonable there because still that's a great season see here's what here's what I'll push back on a little bit with the homes I think the home is a great player I don't have any concerns about him I think the spotlight again city yes for all the talk about the homes because he's young he's fantastic you know maybe the best quarterback in the league and when you when you get you know you know Associated as one of the best quarterbacks in the league get valued if you win the Superbowl or not even if it's your fault for not doing so you know even if it is your fault for not doing so I really gets in at Kansas city and I need to see someone of that defense that Bob because I get patch will homes is a great against the patriots in the first half he was in the game got only two times and both times the defense couldn't stop Tom Brady so that defense to me I also bought like the honey badger all spot like Frank Clark and also the coach can the coach get out of his own way so yes I was the badge but home is going to be talked about we all know that it could be one of most talked about players in the league fantasy football perspective or just off the pier ability to play I just don't have many doubts on him I doubt more that team in terms of their defense without was coached by these bag no lo and we'll see how that works out and also the head coach that's where I see them having short comings and that's what could be holding them back in my opinion yeah I guess I can give you that I it's just I live in DC and so I remember that first year the RG three came out and made he would light it up every look all this the next spring this is the next big bank and then what did you do and I get it what are you a little different because of the injury but it's still you know everybody's on my home and I'm not she's fan so I I you know I hope to do is our next big bank for the next twenty years is our Tom Brady but we still got you still got to come out and prove it in year two yeah I know that's very and you got to prove that you could win but here's the one thing with bathrooms appreciate the phone call iron remember how tough it is and just the yeah I get we all the numbers are inflated now but Brady in manning when they threw fifty plus touchdown passes it was wow this is unbelievable patch for homes that that in his first true you're playing football and he supposed to get better now in terms of the numbers that you may not be better in terms of the numbers but this guy goes out this year and even throws thirty eight touchdown passes it's still a great year for him so the homes in the big game to all get off to a little better start however though I don't look at it as being the guy that's going to prevent them from when he actually may be the one to that is able to a race the defense of one there's a race Andy Reid with these big game blunders he may be able to do that he may be able to be one of those players that are referred to as the greater racer because last year he got so close to getting to a super ball and unfortunately it was in overtime for him and it was a do or die situation that's why Andy Reid really wants the see the overtime rule changes I I'm not a fan of that but that's what I do read wants to see I I don't have any doubts about that some homes and it it does the certain quarterbacks that I feel really good about because I'm a Brady gotta see Brady for so long I don't know how you to really defend this guy the goal is to take away Tyree kill the patriots and then the blast ended up winning but there's other guys he's going to work into the fold it's about whether in that storm is he's always there to get them back in the game yeah I got the big lead against them in when you get off the field you have to make sure that you put seven again second city defense one more before the break Gerald in Ohio next up CBS sports radio general that's happened yeah our instructor McCall you're talking about we would we really needed a lot of pressure all are well your honor yeah Rogers is is under the spotlight because you missed the post season you know for for two straight years without Grady is and how much he's played and and now the McCarty is no longer there yeah the new coach yeah you have to get back into the into the fold you have to get in the playoffs this year and I just has to get in the playoffs this year all right great perspective Gerald really add a lot to the conversation T. on Twitter says how can you leave out when it's in full they should be one until also can we chill on the word great hall of fame is great how but extremely good first off I'm a big stickler for the word great I am thank you for homes will be seen so far he's great so if you don't like it take a hike that's all I'll say and also I did leave out once our polls I talked about that earlier in the show I talk about the winds falls thing time and and and time over and over again once in falls though it's not wanting to even if you the biggest eagles fan the world it's not wanted to there's more spotlight on Baker Mayfield and there's more spotlight on Ben Roethlisberger the Nick Foles this year Nick Foles won a Superbowl already he got a Jacksonville and stink now there is a spotlight on him because you want to see if you do it over sixteen games but it's different compared to Baker and Ben and I get a band that has already won two is all fame player but there was a lot of drama it was a lot of drama with him on the team Dick falls is going to a team where yes there was drama but it was because of his own doing of his wrongdoing so with Carson once this is Thomas followed on and the reason why there was a big time spotlight on Carson once is in two thousand seventeen he was healthy for the first twelve games.

"The guy can flat out play he's tough and his ABS to amaze and you just want to play ball and and for me deny that I have nothing but praise is farm I've I think it's it's it's almost unfair that he's such a good player and doesn't have you know play all or or or a ring to show for it and that's you know I kinda hurts my heart that I was able to you know help change that but yeah I I think over the last his over his career if you put a man another organization maybe things are different Kate of course played four seasons in Seattle with Russell Wilson in addition to four seasons in Detroit with Stafford in Stafford's career he has an eighty eight point four quarterback rating has run for over four thousand yards in seven of its last eight seasons and is led the lines to a sixty six and seventy five record with three playoff appearances meanwhile Wilson has a one hundred point three quarterback rating has thrown for four thousand yards just twice but as a seventy five thirty six and one record and has an eight and five post season record including a Superbowl victory I can I just numb obviously obviously and to walk us through some of the the staff there obviously Russell Wilson is the better quarterback so let me just speculate on what I know now here's my speculation there's like yes my educated guess I just think guys don't like Brussels they don't they I think they know he tilted in there was a time I might have pushed back on they have a man the whole like new contract announcement in bed in the pajamas with yeah I just I don't know man put on some clothes like talking my six year my now my several plaza closer yeah I do the job was when you were going to get ice cream but he has several to get all your job was going to make a public declaration anyway Housel aggressive I just think guys alike we've seen that in the defensive end and that is that is not real praise met forced ever that is a shot meant for us wells number five last whenever when or what whatever number five number five I know I like it last week clubbers executive Jerry west spoke publicly for the first time since the team acquired Kawhi Leonard and Paul George this summer was told the Dan Patrick show quote Steve bombers willing to spend on players he's willing to spend on personnel within the front office I've never been around any organization that is better than this one that's for sure and quote west of course play for the Lakers in the sixties and seventies coached the Lakers in the late seventies was their general manager for over a decade and had a recent stay with the warriors with their front office yeah I mean Jerry west is the great I think is the greatest GM of all time and I know isn't on this yet but you you take that you pair with an owner in C. Palmer who is engaging has twenty six billion dollars in the bank in cash to imagine I can too the basic where is the party I would throw for all of us it would be a nice to kick up it would be him Hey name comes to it would be an amazing party yeah I think I like the clippers are going to be a force in the years ahead of the Lakers don't get their act together from a competency perspective the move they may not withstanding the clippers could be the dominant team here for very very long time.

"Thank you i want to respond to the comments that joe borough made a bet you just posted up on the tv set an unless his offensive line is demonstrably better he's not going to have time to throw a for four thousand yards and a score forty or fifty points a game a he looked like a deer in headlights last year when he faced better off fences in an eight of the twelve games not counting be a bowl game he threw for a fifty percent or less so i understand they've got a new coordinator and he's got a year under his belt but this guy was not able to win the starting job at ohio state and he transferred now he's the best quarterback they've had probably since a hold on a second through a i i think saying that he couldn't win the job here doesn't really have anything to do with where he is now because the circumstances and the coaches are different i think you have to judge joe greg on what he did last year and at times he was good times he was serviceable the ball against alabama he was non existent well that's true that's a fair statement but here's the thing they could win eleven games but if they don't beat alabama they're not gonna go get into the c a s e c championship and they're not going to win the have the benefit of a doubt you get in the college football playoff so everything that they need to do in order to get better has to end that juncture of being able to beat alabama them and i just don't think they're gonna be capable to do it on the road when they haven't been able to score but ten points in the last three games well the one thing i i agree with you on that but to me if you're ls you you you can't get hung up on that alabama game right now you you have a brutal second weekend game in austin and i'm not another way that the season's not over if they lose a game this season is over saint lucy alabama game but they they they need they need a quick start though this is a team that i i don't know i mean i i liked their enthusiasm i'm a fan of what they're doing but saving it for the games okay don't don't run your mouth and they all season well i think they'll start off really well and i think they have a good opportunity d you don't think they made alabama do no not this year i just don't say there's a logical pass a barring some unforeseen injury three two two or some of an some other players on that team that's going to tell me otherwise because they have not demonstrated a under any kind of situation that they've been able to beat alabama well another thing that that's gotta be obviously that's true 'em circumstances we could not answer but but this is the best team we've seen there in a long time well a yes up to this point in in the games have to play out but what else what else is new exactly so i'm just saying paul that from a logical standpoint greg i mean you you just said something the games that the play out i i agree with what were were were were were paper talking here but i i do think she has something going on in i think alabama will be fine i mean i i i'm very likely picking alabama to win the national championship but there there are some people concerned i know you're not but there are some well you know there was concern last year and it and it reared its ugly head again there in alabama suffer for it but i just think you know they were talking about by the way i i wasn't i dunno i dunno that many people were concerned last year at.

"So I kind of look at it from that perspective. Now you get back to the money. Side of it. It's the market K Carson Wentz gets paid. Jared Goff, we'll get paid in debt Prescott sitting back saying, I'm going to get paid. This doesn't help Jerry Jones in Dallas Cowboys at all if I'm that Prescott representatives. It doesn't help them at all. If you only thinking about giving him a short term deal and a little bit of money. Now, he certainly has a bargaining chip, let's say the Cowboys elected to move on from him. They don't wanna pay him. They just go. Let's contract run out, and he's going to be a free agent. Okay. He's shown enough on feel that he can go to a starving team just like Nick foles did it hit paydirt. I mean he really can. If he was a free agent, and I know, Rosh things are there. He he can't hit the side of a bus. He's this. I'll eat Arvin. They're not starve. So all of a sudden, the kid, there's picking the dolphins just got rose. Let's say the Rosen thing doesn't work, and all of a sudden Dak Prescott the dolphins are somebody like them is gonna come in and roll up the Cincinnati Bengals they wanna roll up the money. The dolphins will roll up the money is certainly say he can play a shot. Give it a shot. In his representatives say, here's the market. And here's where the money's at. How can Carson Wentz get more money in debt Prescott when a virtually the same this the same statistically because that's what you guys go on statistics? Is this the reason I think that Goth is at the top of his list, won a Homer to the free and post that, but three here's the thing, though, the knock on wins what he gets hurt time. Right. It's not just once or twice. He's been hurt a lot. The, the knock on Prescott is that he was really good as a rookie and then regressed a little bit without Zeke. And then last year he was much better again, but he's kind of been up and down since he's coming in this league. Jared Goff came in and was terrible, and then got much better and then got better, the year after that. And by the way he plays every game get hurt you if flip it and say this Jared Goff came in with a bad coaching situation and didn't look great. Right. Sure. Zeki alien left to Cowboys that Prescott didn't look great. Okay. So one inlet great because of a coach. Another didn't look all that good. Because nine ten men, you know, basically were loading the box with Zeke was there. Then all of a sudden, Zeke was there. Everybody backed out in it made it harder for him to push the ball, down the field the same thing you can look at it either way in say, hey, we'll he got better while the year in between he didn't get better because he missed his running back, but his first year, he certainly was good his second year. He struggled star here. Lights for unconcerned single. He's good. He's sixty seven almost sixty eight budget completion percentage almost four thousand yards and air twenty two touchdowns eight interceptions ninety seven point rating. Not that, that really even matters. But they go off that sort of stuff and have we seen deck Prescott do at your golf is done that went, let's assume both of them have their full complement of guys. They time..

"You saw on that clip. Kinda gone viral about talking about Derek Carr. Yes. And whether or not this is sort of a maker break prove it or lose it as in lose your job season for him under Jon Gruden. Yes. In, in your, your insight, there is what well, first of all, I was on the set with Victor Cruz. In rob, Nick vich. And I could not believe the take that they had as both former players and I was like, who am I talking to on the set? You know what I'm saying? And the question that we were dealing with was does Derek Carr have to prove himself after this season, and obviously, Victor and rob took the position of having to. And I was like, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Why does Derek Carr have to prove himself after this season? Let's not forget, this was a quarterback that was in the playoffs with the twelve and four record under the previous regime for one season one-season, though. But I mean but. He's not he's not thirty five. He's still in his twenty. What I'm saying he. So he did that under the previous regime, and probably in all likelihood would have gone to the conference championships or the Super Bowl, perhaps had. He had not that freak accident with his ankle. I mean, like they were talking about him as a MVP. So let me tell you what the caller ranting, you don't go to bed and forget, how to, like play really good at quarterback. Okay. And these guys were all. It's all what have you done for me lately? He stunk it up and like, no, he threw for over four thousand yards. Any had X amount of touchdowns in it was a positive regional have it right on the top the head? So I just I couldn't believe that they were saying that at all the raiders like came out at us. Sorry about that. I mean it was it was a severe debate. I just think I think it also speaks more maybe to his new coach because you're right. You don't go to bed one night, wake up the next morning forgetting, how throw a football but you can go to bed one night..

"MO N t y the Monte show is where you find me on Twitter and Instagram and while we're talking about the combine in the draft real quick this Derek Carr story. And if you didn't hear there's rumors that the raiders may have been shopping, Derek Carr around the combine and there's questions about whether or not he is their franchise quarterback. Derek Carr on an awful team where he took a beating. And remember he had the Tony Romo vertebrae break in his back and all the adversity that Jon Gruden the not knowing where we're going to play. Derek Carr threw for four thousand yards and yeah, turn the ball over a little bit too much. But I can write a lot of that off from him him to be an individual playmaker. They traded Amari Cooper in the. Middle of the season to the Dallas Cowboys. He was bad with the raiders. Let's just be honest about it. What happened when he got the Dallas? He who knew he could actually run routes and catch a football, the raiders are flawed. Derek Carr in my mind is a franchise quarterback. He's giving you what you need, and I don't want to hear about. Oh, Derek cars. Crying on the field. I don't care can the guy throw the football can the guy lead men and from what I understand. And what you hear his teammates say about him. Yeah. I do believe that. Derek Carr can lead men. I know what I've seen in. That's that. I do believe that. Derek Carr can throw the football. I have no doubt about that. Their cars a franchise quarterback. Right. You look at Derek Carr. And you say franchise quarterback. I look at Josh Rosen. Terrible offensive line. I get that. No wide receiver talent Zona. I get that. Josh Rosen was really average as the cardinals quarterback. There was no glimmer there. There is nothing where you were like, yes. That's our guy. Let's go in a Super Bowl with Josh Rosen. Are right? Just being brutally honest. There was nothing there. So I think there's a little difference. Hang onto Derek Carr. All right. Don't go anywhere James Jones. The interim general manager of the sons in fifteen minutes. What's the new plan for the Lakers? Now, it seems like the playoffs are out of reach. "I don't think it would make that much of a difference. But I don't think is as likely as it will be with tannehill. Honestly, because I'm just not entirely. Sure. What cars future, isn't Oakland? Because he does like this is the this is the first year they can finally move on from him. And if they are smitten with a quarterback, then there's no reason to to to, you know, keep onto that contract because liquid all the other big contracts that they had over the past six, months, whatever. But I think there's a little bit more is a little bit. There's a little bit more writing on the wall with tannehill. And I think Taylor being the head coach, and maybe even the play caller for for the Bengals kind of went out in his preference for tannin over Callahan's potential influence in bringing in car. Do you think because this was one of the questions that was brought up when you talked about the? Tannehill thing. Do you think that car who again, I think we're two years or moved from a season where he was borderline MVP guy? I mean, he had an outstanding season. He goes in twenty fifteen or twenty sixteen sixteen twenty sixteen that earned him this contract. This year threw for four thousand yards nineteen touchdowns. Ten interceptions. Not not great there. But twenty sixteen twenty eight touchdowns six receptions almost four thousand yards that year. I mean, do you see do you see those numbers greatly increasing because you know, their best players aside from car were released off the Rosser clue Mak doesn't play offense. But Amari Cooper, we saw the impact he had in Dallas. Do you think that a guy like car would if he's playing with age agreeing Tyler boy, John Ross Joe mixing, do you think that all of a sudden that is a career resurgence in your closer to the thirty touchdown single digit interception guy in Cincinnati with that talent? Or do you think that year was just a fluke of a year? And we're seeing a little bit more who the real their cars these past couple of seasons. Twenty sixteen was der cars are twenty six. Derek Carr was twenty fifteen it was when everything around him clicked perfectly. He was in the perfect system. He had probably the best offensive.

"Look very strong finish to the season ended up at number four fantasy wise over four thousand yards twenty six touchdowns the fine. Fifty one on the ground in five touchdowns on the ground made him the third most consistent quarterback. What's about Watson is quarterback for on the on the year? That's fantastic number three inconsistency. That's what you wanted. But did you still get actual return on where you had to draft him? He was the second quarterback for for people. Who do not remember to Shawn Watson was being drafted behind? Aaron Rodgers is eighty p I'm looking on fantasy prose is ADP was thirty six you're giving up. No, you didn't turn. So you. That's what you didn't get thirty one percent of his is games. He was in the top three. You drafted him to be number two only thirty percents. At the time. He was in that range any sprinkled in games at killed you week one eleven points week six five points week seven ten points week eleven nine points single digit type games. So was it look it wasn't the wheels falling off. This was nice, right? I mean, you didn't have to Shawn Watson go from you know, three or four game wonder to complete disaster. Right Sach, sixty two times this year. That's the most since two thousand and six I was going to keep happening unless he changes his game. I just holds the ball. And he tries to make something happen longer and longer. Yeah. This season seems to me to be what you could expect going forward. We talked about to Shawn Watson as a don't buy based on his ADP last year, and you know, a regression alert, and he certainly did regrets. I mean, if if you look at his per game basis last season in that small sample he was outlaying as he was Pat Mahomes. Good. And and you didn't get that this year. I know you know, in in my lease at Assam Watson own. Irs? Lot of lot of those leagues did not make the playoffs. Even though he was the number four quarterback. But this you still had the baseline, right? Five hundred and fifty plus rushing yards rushing touchdowns. The the reason why he is the number to three consistent rated quarterback is because the Russian baseline. But now, let's say he duplicates what he's gonna do this year next year, which I think is very realistic. Where should that? Where should you land in a draft to take a guy who did what did Sean bullet? Yeah. Yeah. I get your question. Who'd you take ahead of them. I mean, you're taking Mahomes ahead of him. Would you take Big Ben who we just talked about ahead of him? If is there don't need to. Yeah. I mean, that's the thing taking on a head of them. No because you wouldn't need to. I mean Big Ben will be late. I air Rogers who would you rather have? Yeah. That's what I'm asking. I would I would rather have Mahomes. I'd rather have Matt Ryan wherever he's drafted block. I'd rather have look Rogers. Definitely Russell Wilson. Yes. Breeze. Yes. So Philip rivers you'd rather have breeze. I don't Watson. I don't think. I'd rather have bringing we. No, no, no to fisticuffs all off, no breeze. No breeze. No. I would not I take I take you back sees no not breeze. But everybody else Russell Wilson. I would I mean. So the point is I think that dishonor Watson is someone that should be in the eighth or ninth round. I don't I don't see him as someone that needs to be in the top five rounds. One of the things. That's really nice about. Shawn Watson is you have that pairing with a top three white out. You know, we I it's kind of Big Ben, you don't know of Brown's coming back. You know Hopkins is going to be there that gives him kind of an impressive. Baseline with that kind of talent. And they've had they had struggles all your lawn keeping a second wide receiver healthy. Where's the Mary Thomas at this point? I mean, KiKi QT banged up hurt. He looks like a great player when he fuller will fuller. Lots in a I think he's warning. I like Watson more than a lot of the guys you were saying you do not..
"four thousand yards" Discussed on Xtra Sports Radio 1300 AM
"I just just watching goo breeze this year. I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm Patrick Mahomes is going to be one of the best in the NFL. And I would put them in number two or number three. But just watching drew Brees season. I just he doesn't he's cool. Calm collect has not gone. Rattled the entire season. Couple of games scratching Mahomes has rattled. And I just my opinion. Drew Brees is the MVP. Thanks recall. Sure. I mean, look drew Brees had a great year. No doubt about it. And I think again, I think this is the year. Drew Brees got his roses. I just objectively don't see a case for breeze over Mahomes. I really don't you know, like, the the first of all Mahomes was the breakout guy this NFL season statistically, fifty eighteen more touchdowns man eighteen. That's like there's some quarterback's throw eighteen touchdowns. The eighteen more touchdown passes. You know, how many more yards again, let me look at it. Threw for five thousand yards Brees through for not even four thousand yards eighteen touchdowns and over a thousand more yards passing where not to mention, you know. Some of the other statistics probably going in his favor like stuff he might have done with his legs. The advanced statistics. For the most part in his favor. I'm looking at them right now. I don't I don't really see the the case. Otherwise what quarterback? Would you want going into this postseason no-one said Tom Brady at eight five five two one two four two two seven eight five five two one two four two two seven. The only Jay z song. You know, literally. Yeah. That's like the like that would be the answer for like soccer.

"Heisman Trophy goes to an Oklahoma quarterback for the second year in a row following in the footsteps of Baker Mayfield Kylie Murray through for more than four thousand yards and forty touchdowns this season. He says he was the right quarterback for the right program. I'm a cool, calm collected guy. Like Lord blessed with the ability to handle situations differently. For me knowing that I was going to the right situation. I just believe that go was the situation for me a junior. This could be his final season before jumping to the pros not football. But baseball he signed a four point six million dollar contract is past summer with the Oakland A's who selected him with the number nine pick. According to ESPN, Marie apologized this morning after anti-gay tweets he made in two thousand eleven twelve surfaced hours after we won the trophy.
