"And look, it's not a huge shock, right? When we talked about potential futures for Trevor Bauer on earlier episodes, we noted. If he wanted to continue pitching, he would probably pitch somewhere, right? In some international league that has given chances to many other players who were disgraced and drummed out of Major League Baseball, whether it's a Roberto Osuna or Addison Russell or Josh lukey or many others who were not offered spots on MLB teams anymore and went overseas and guys have gone to Mexico and Korea and Japan and it almost seems like from those leagues and countries perspective. It's like what you did overseas. It's just like almost forgotten. It's like it didn't happen here. So blank slate, I guess, and you can come play for us and if you do something bad on our shores, then we will cut you and get rid of you, but it's almost like some sort of, well, it didn't happen on this continent or in this country, then we will just welcome you in here. So I guess the good news is that Trevor Bauer is not pitching an MLB, right? Which was always a possibility. I mean, there was always some chance that especially as we got closer to opening day, that some team would just take a shot and say, we think he'll still be good and we won't have to live with the fallout from this for as long before the season starts. Well, that didn't happen. I'm sure he pursued all his options here and clearly the door was not open. So if you're just a fan of MLB, you will not be seeing Trevor Bauer and you will not be hearing about Trevor Bauer much anymore. Yeah, I'm glad that all 30 clubs sort of, I guess it would have been 29 because if the Dodgers hadn't wanted to let him go, they wouldn't have, but you know, I'm glad that there was sort of a holding of the line there. I do always feel weird when we have this collective sigh of relief like, oh, he's over there now. And it's like, well, that seems, you know, I don't know, it's like, what a terrible export. It feels like we should face sanctions. So, but yeah, I am relieved to not have to spend much more time thinking about that guy. I do know that there are a lot of players not in his same position, obviously, but we've seen particularly in the last couple of years guys come back. Who have a couple of good seasons in Japan or Korea and then find their way back onto a big league grocery, and I don't, you know, I can't speak to whatever strategy he might be employing here if that's part of the planner, the hope on his part to find his way back onto a big league crosser in the event that he pitches well. But I hope not. So I would like to be able to never talk about that guy again. Yeah, it may just be a short term. I want to pitch and this is the highest level league that will let me do it, or yeah, there might be a long game here. Who knows how he will pitch after the extended layoff that he has had. If he is still effective there, then yeah, I guess there's some risk that he could get sort of laundered through NPP in a way. Like if he stays out of trouble there and pitches well for a year or two, I guess you could have some MLB team decided well he's too good not to give him a chance and he paid his dues and he wandered in the wilderness for a while, not that NPP is the wilderness. It's a great league, but if that were to happen, then I guess that's the potential risk here. But he was always going to get a job somewhere, unfortunately. I think that was always going to happen. So now we know where it is. It's not here. All right, so we have a couple previews to get to, but we do want to just put a PSA out there. So we are looking for a theme song for effectively wild. Yeah. Which is not something we've ever really had, just a straight up theme song associated with the show. And we've decided that we would like one. Most podcasts do have one. And we would like your help. We have a lot of musically inclined listeners and listeners who are in bands or musical artists themselves. And in the past, we have done a stat blessed song exercise where listeners just made their own covers of the step west song and then for weeks or months we played those covers and there were some really incredible ones and people seemed to have fun with that. So we would like to do the same thing with a theme song like an intro song that we would play at the beginning of an episode. And maybe we'll have sort of like a battle of the bands style thing. If you make a theme song for effectively wild and it's a reasonably listenable. We did have some trepidation about how we should save this that we want everyone to know because it's like I don't want to you know people put time into making a thing you want to acknowledge it but also yeah if it will not make our audiences ears bleed somehow then we would like to play your intro song submission. So we will try to play just about everyone's we'll see how many we get, but we will I think ultimately pick one or maybe we will have a crowdsourced aspect to this and that will be a component and we'll collectively pick one. But we're hoping to do it this month by opening day by the end of March that would be great and we're looking for basically a minute of audio roughly give or take and say 30 seconds or so before the podcast comes in and then maybe 30 seconds that could play under us doing our intro. So it could be instrumental or it could just be something that you could quiet and it can be whatever you want. I think it should have some sort of lyrics of some kind. It should be identifiable as an effectively wowed intro song, although hopefully evergreen so that I don't know if we were to change something about the format of the show or do a new segment or retire an old segment or something that it wouldn't be immediately obsolete. I don't know. It can be any style. It can be any approach. We will leave it up to the creativity of our audience and then if we ultimately pick one to be our regular theme song, then there will be some kind of cash prize or licensing fee or some sort. We will purchase the song from you. I don't know exactly what the terms of that will be. We'll figure it out, but there will be something. So at least we will play your song and then if we pick one to be the permanent theme song, then we will work out something so that we can compensate you for that. Yeah. I just look forward to hearing all of the cool stuff that people come up with because we've said it many, many times. There are a lot of musically inclined people, as you mentioned, and just like so many different jobs and kinds of folks listen to the show. And so there tends to be a real range in terms of how people interpret prompts like that. And I look forward to hearing them. So yeah, all right. Well, have fun with it. And hopefully sometime in the next couple of weeks, we can get that sorted. By the end of the month, if you can send in your submissions and we will work through them that would be great and you can just email them to us at podcast at fan graphs dot com and let us know if you have any questions

Mike Johnson Criticizes FX Series ‘Little Demon’ for Satanic Imagery
"Oh, let's not even talk about that. My tigers had a terrible ending there. But that was not, as you point out, though, that was not the most shocking thing about the game. It was this trailer for this crazy cartoon build as a sitcom, this new animated feature by FX, which is owned by Disney, of course they own ABC as well. That's a network that was airing the game. And they chose to run this ad during the second quarter as a trailer for this. I mean, truly demonic. I mean, by design, a demonic sitcom cartoon, and I just was so, I was so disturbed by Todd, I just felt like people needed to know. So I made a little Facebook post and it started a furor. It's called little demon is the name of the show. And it involves, well, I'll just read this from the description. 13 years after being impregnated by Satan, a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware. I wonder if they know the bidens. But our constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter's soul. It seems to me they're just trying to normalize paganism here, and that's exactly what the producer says was the intent of this cartoon. That was the goal. And they're not hiding it. I mean, they're saying the quiet parts out loud now. We've known this kind of stuff going on in popular culture and the media for years, but now it's just right there in your face. And that's not even the worst of it. I mean, if you read some of these online reviews about this program, they've already aired four episodes. It's just filled with quote unquote spectacularly gory sequences, it has lines in the programs like quote, let's go boil some babies while their heads are still soft. I mean, you know, it sounds like we're making this stuff up, but they are celebrating this. I mean,

Where do we see it? This would be on HBO. But then, as with all things on HBO, it moves over to HBO. Max after 100 years on HBO. Gotcha and how How many different episodes are How long How many episodes are there are There are four episodes. They're two hours apiece, so each one is basically feature length and I've seen three of the four of them and it's they all pack a real punch. The You know, we're approaching the 20th anniversary of 9 11. And so you're we're going to get so many tributes, documentaries, and this is the first one that I've watched this suburb and I'm sure I'm gonna have to watch a few more because it's what I do. But this one was powerful and good enough that even though it hurt because you know there's just no way to watch that stuff without it Hurting, um It told the story in a way that was powerful. "Thing in the world to watch when you don't have a rooting interest, But, yeah, it's just a little bit of a tad stressful when it's your team ruined. I mean, I know the lightning. They'll have three chances here. That's the thing and that's the way the lighting fans going to look at, is like if you can't close it out. It be an all time failure would be one of the biggest failures at sports if they will find a way to close this out. All right, real quick. I don't want to geek out, but I got to ask. I know you haven't seen Episode five yet. But you have seen three through four spoilers. Spoiler. Have you not seen Loki Spoiler? Um, what is your take? I think it's the best of the Disney Plus series I've seen so far. Yeah, I would agree with that. And I think it sets up the most potentially, as we could move forward into face for, like, I think a lot that happened in low key is going to factor into doctor. Strange kind of the way. One division is one division is I still think Because I've seen the whole body of work. I'm not ready to put one division or low key over one division yet. I got to see them stick the landing, But I'm pretty confident after four episodes. I mean, Falcon Winter soldier wasn't bad, but it was super average. I think it best. I've definitely really enjoyed low key on the first episode was great. I really like the fourth episode as well. The fifth one just dropped today. I have not seen that yet. Full disclosure. So please do not spoil me with it. Um, but that's actually quite literally what I'm doing when I get out of here. I'm going home to eat dinner, and I'm going to watch Loki. Um I really hope they stick the landing. You haven't seen Episode five yet, Jerry, right? No. I'm going to see it tonight. Okay? Yeah. So you and I are on the same page. Um, tweet. US three was a little weird 12 and four isn't isn't own Wilson in that show. I don't know. I don't have Disney Plus, so I haven't watched Owen Wilson is in that show. It's great, like his character. Did you say Wow? No, he doesn't say what doesn't say. Wow, No, that's disappointing. They're not pandering that much. Wow, There's been a few little homages, uh, in the show, though. There's been definitely been some Easter eggs. Uh, I haven't seen any references to zoo lander yet. But there's been a few little things that they've put in the series. Oh, yeah, I mean, you know, they're looking for every little thing that they can there and like I said, the biggest thing with Loki, especially given how this ends we're gonna see we got two episodes left to CNN's and then black widow. Of course, coming out this weekend. That's a prequel, but we'll see how that ties into face for a little bit as well. Um, but nevertheless, I think Loki is really going to set up here as we start to get into the multiverse. And with time travel and things like that, I got to be honest. I hate time Travel as a plot device, but the fact that they made this work I feel pretty good about that. It doesn't seem like it's really that weird at all. But it's always a tough thing to do. And to make it flow well within the plot. I often feel like it could be a crutch sometimes, and it just feels like a lazy cop out. Thank you. Everybody loves this episode of Live local and loud. Appreciate you guys as always, I'm Kevin refused filling in for Rick Grenell Woods. He's Jerry Daniels. Jerry will be back tomorrow. Chase Bunker will be back in the building tomorrow. Go bolts. We'll see what happens with Game five could be a very celebratory show. Again catches every night from 7 to 9. Right here on W.

He doesn't talk doesn't appeal to jonathan or something he doesn't try to sway a son or take us on your father and your brother had these powers. I can give these powers to you. That's what i thought they were gonna do ask you know we still got four episodes but i just i just was thinking about that if you're gonna do these parallel type stories where you have these threads but if they don't that's cool too i definitely didn't see i definitely don't see that being a inc on i can give you these powers to i mean if anything on is the more composed of do the better the more honest of the brothers will. That's why would be interesting. He chooses john thinking that he can get through. "The thing that volcanoes good for is to entertain you as they destroy vast landscapes on earth. Aside from that what are the good for. Oh let me count the ways. Now i do want to say. I don't like it when the volcanoes take people and buildings out while i was amused to see. Fisher's opening up people's backyards. It was amused in a. I really hope they have good insurance kind of way. So i'm a fan of like the power of our planet's geology of humanity. Oh just be clear. You're not a super villain you're merely fan of the marvels of nature. Okay exactly so so. Volcanoes iceland is really the place to look to find some of the coolest examples of what they can do. first of all they just add land. The nation of iceland is straddling the mid atlantic rift. It is getting torn in half. It is also on top of hotspot and over the millennia as the island nation gets torn in half. You don't actually see a gap forming because all the volkan ism. There is just filling it in now. The other side of this is there are islands all around the world at hawaiian islands or one of the most noticeable where you have a chain of islands that on one end is all dead volcanoes. That are well weathered over time and a great place to go live and then you have as you move down the chain you have younger younger islands that are more and more mountainous more and more active and these islands which are still growing for the active ones have amazing land to farm and if you want a nation to grow well. This is a different way to do it right. I mean a lot of the volcanic islands like the hawaiians that you mentioned even just across the pacific. There's tons of these of these islands. They provide stopping off point for birds. That are migrating various creatures and as you said the land around a volcano is incredibly fertile. We've known this. "I'm all i'm all caught up up. I'm through four episodes of solar opposite season two. I'm really enjoying it. Do you think we're going to get a solar opposite season. Three after the thomas ditch kind of. I feel like it's much easier to do so because it's animation it's just the voice actors who think that they could just like get rid of the character of terry and bring in somebody completely new. I mean i could. I could see them bringing over. Not necessarily an alternate reality terry but maybe just an alternate version or some late. They grow out there on lab store thing. Because you're you're half aren't yes. So how or even like in season one when they create that That little dude or whatever at the end of season one i wouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised if they do of mike that. So you bring in a new voice actor for terry and it's like the same person just a different voice when it be crazy if they brought in ben schwartz who you know well they schwartz. They did middle. Ditching schwartz on netflix. Dot com find out how loyal shortest his friend take his character. He's not very loyal right now because he like. If you go to his twitter. He's fucking taken thomas he's taken middle ditch and schwartz off the list of credits on twitter and it was there. Wow i'm disappointed. Because i had middle different sorts on my list because i fucking love ben shorts but then that thomas middle stuff came out. And i'm like all right. Missed the boat on that one on. Never see man from uncle. Now that middle distance schwartz fucking act was fucking brilliant. It really was and was and it just sucks. Because i love solar opposite so much that i don't i hate it when like something i love has like somebody that's like controversial involved in it because then you don't know the future of the series and it's like yeah middle ditch you kind of fuck this up for. Not you fucked up your life number one but number two like you kinda fucked it up for everybody. That's involved in this show. That has jobs on the show. The animators justin roland. What is Conditional Food Neutrality?
"Month we talked about conditional food neutrality based on exercise and movement and this topic was really interesting because what we wanted to do was kind of set the stage a little bit about how we create these conditions around when it's okay for us to have neutrality. A lot of it's really based in in rooted in calories in calories out from a weight control standpoint and a weight loss standpoint that we've been that's been like ingrained in our minds over the years for such a long time and last month we really talked about. How do we combat those conditions. And how do we bring movement into our lives in a joyful way. That's not wait related. And not wait. Comb control related. So that's what we talked about last month and this month for taking a very similar concept around conditions and applying it to body image body neutrality which quite frankly you're listening to see might be thinking. Oh that's not a light topic and you're right so heavy topic. Were super excited. Bear with us. We have some awesome guests coming up this month and dana. And i wanted to do a little bit of a set the scene. Yes so when we're thinking about conditional food neutrality as applied to exercise and fitness as we talked about last month it what that looks like is basically i can eat what i want as long as i exercise or i can eat carbs as long as i'm going to exercise or i just have exercise or i don't have to feel as bad about eating this because i've exercised already which as you can tell from the last four episodes that we've done which we will lincoln. But like everyone assumes that he is a dude playing the guys well okay so that alone isn't the worst. Yes harmless but like you're not. You're not fooling no one dude. Yeah okay so player. Number three is bryant. He's fucking hate bryant. He's he's yeah he's a breath worker. Breath work lived many lifetimes and had a spiritual awakening that led him to the circle. I guess and he's just no bad juju allowed kind in spread a lot of love and yeah he's just not not my type of person Reminds me of god. I think it was too hot to handle but you remember that guy looked like jesus who is new agey. yes yes. He's yeah i just hate. I am not a naturally optimistic person. I and i think being around people who are isn't necessarily a bad thing but it feels so forced was bryant that it's like i just don't buy it at all it's like it feels like if bryant. Let's in any negative thinking he's just gonna can spiral like yeah he's gonna lose it. That's not that's not. it's not healthy. It's not a healthy way to manage things. No that's like toxic. Positively like yes you can have bad negative feelings and still be like a healthy person exactly so our next person is lisa. Who is thirty one. A stay at home mom from the bronx people think. She's cocky and she playing her husband. Trevor as a single father because she decides that that is the way to get the votes. I loved this so much. I love this this like strategy. It's so good. Because i feel like she obviously knows her husband knows how would interact with people and can probably do that pretty genuinely and but it's still like it's just like nobody's going to everyone's going to be shocked when they find out and it's all my god i know she has been the best cashing i think so far i agree yeah i loved. I was when i heard this from the beginning also i love that. She did her profile in the section as left my hood for the best hood hashtag fatherhood. How yes. That is fucking brilliant brag honig so we. I had our first circle chat with the first four players which usually do I don't even remember most of what they were talking about in this because it was just kinda like hey but Bryant when he heard that jack slash..

"You know they did have him represented through his own words with regard to dylan as well. They did but it it. They certainly had a two year point. Point of view heading into this. And i it in many ways i think they used his words than swat them down and again what they would say and have said is. That's because the other story has not been fully told and they they believe the credibility of the other of the other side. I think that's true. And i also think i'm actually We know full disclosure to the audience. You and i have not talked about us. 'cause i wanted to for the podcast but you did kind of give me like a headline on the way over and i have to say you know a spoiler alert like you're not one hundred percent convinced that you know the dylan of abuse happened. I have to say. I was shocked seeing that. Because i i when i after i inhaled the first four episodes i thought there is no way that you can wash your not think that oh into be clear to so we just it that we were texting before and i said because we got into it i don't i don't dismiss dylan's credibility i don't i think there is some fog though in the in the entire story on the the whole and i don't so i don't think i don't think dylan is lying. I don't to be to be really clear. What i can't tell and it wasn't dealt with his there are certain seeming contradictions of fact and again depending on on sort of this this kind of emblematic of our times. Right where we're debating facts. Which is which is odd. But certain things. I just don't know more. That was yeah that i just don't know more about that. I would want cleared up and i don't i think that again. I think that this film swats away the idea that it streamlines and simplifies presupposing. That everything necessarily is true and i think there complexities to like for example the even in the end the parental alienation flake. There's a lot of statistics there that don't necessarily apply to certain cases so there's a lot of again is is covered very quickly and purposefully and in surface of a of a conclusion. So that's that's what i would say. I do not for a minute though to be really clear. I think they'll sincerely believes what she is. What she's saying. I i don't i don't think that you can cast out on her credibility and i did read some resources that challenged her personally. And i don't think that's okay. Don't think this is clearly. She's tormented by this. And this is defined impacted her life in the most insensitive of ways. I just think the you're hearing the rest of it is. You're hearing mia farrow side to everything. "Today you're prepping four episodes. And i'm like what the heck am i gonna talk about in four episodes. I have my idea bank. So i never run out of ideas. Yeah i love that. I appreciate the very specific examples to. Because i think when we hear some of these ideas in passing i think we challenge them in our minds. It's a barrier for us to not do them. There's a lot of things we don't want to do in. There's fear there too. I think self analysis is scary. Like i don't wanna look at my week hour by hour and say this is what i did today. And you'd have for weeks. I might be afraid of them. Gonna find to be honest. Yeah but what's going to get us past that fear. I think what's Let's hear about what the advantages are. Is it just furious at stopping us. It's something else i do think. There's a lot of fear involved in. Not i guess like for familiarization purposes like what got. You here won't get you there so like cool if you're afraid to look at how you're actually spending your time but not cool when you think about it in terms of like if you don't change something you're not gonna get better at time management. You're not going to get better at podcasting. You're not going to get better at running your business creating your brand creating content and like i get it i'm not trying to diminish or make it sound like it's all super easy. This is mindset work that we need to be doing. All the time like the impostor syndrome is so real. There's actually a whole thing on like fear of success too. I think some people are like afraid of judgment. Like what if my podcast does blow up then like my friends and family are people are gonna think i'm a sell out or you know there's any number of things that we get in our head and that's just imposter syndrome and everybody experiences it and again. It's constant work on like quieting not voice proving to yourself that that's just like crazy. Talk not crazy talk but you know a lot of the things that we fabricate. They're not actually real but we will use the confirmation bias to go find things to support these ridiculous claims that like you know if we find out how we're spending our time and we improve it like how could that possibly be a bad thing. You don't need to be ashamed of what you find or get down on yourself for how you've been running or managing things for the past few months. You need to celebrate the fact that now you get to change it that now you have the knowledge the mindset and the wisdom and the discipline and a passion to do better and to get better like that's what we should be focusing on smiling so this is someone who's definitely making productivity sexy passion behind you talking about being productive stands out and i've listened to your show the ditch busy podcast and you guys haven't had a chance to check out ditch.

This is not how this happened. There's no way this could have happened this way. And of course the value out is like. Oh no this absolutely had to happen. Because the matrix can't be tampered with the fourche at weighing a lot going on basically. There's a lot going on here. So just you have a you. What you your. What are your general reaction to this one. So i have questions i will wait till we get the topics right fire. Well yeah But there is a lot going on. I i'm glad to hear our Rachel are learned. Guest companion sake convoluted. Because i was thinking like okay. Am i just not you know. Because i i've often said you have to be in the mood to watch doctor who classic who because it's different. But i just have a lot of questions and I think i'll get to get to the topics but overall You know it was good. Now what's funny is you know i'm linden is going to the bedroom She's like okay. I mean i'm still looking forward to the new series thin strange new worlds adam shell s section thirty one because the episode set up that the what about about an of not going to be any ball did not not at all. Sea Hunt - It's Still Alive: Point of No Return
"It's time for another installment of seahorn. It's still alive in this time. We're going to season four episode one titled point of no return and it premiered on january seventh nineteen sixty one sixty years ago. The episode starts out with a boat pulling up alongside coast guard cutter. The boat is dropping off a reporter. Dorothy may brooke. She is heard that. Mike nelson is on board and figures. There must be a big story. If he's involved. The captain of the cutter tells dotty that you'll have to wait three days to talk to mike. The research is about mike. Living and working out of the scuba sphere. A two hundred and fifty feet now. That was right at the beginning of the work. That the davy jacques cousteau and ed link. We're doing on underwater habitats so sea hunt was a little ahead of the game after dadi get some basic information from the three scientists on board the cutter. The scene shifts to mike underwater. He's in doubles swimming with a big bag of rocks. And he's going entire inside the scuba sere. The scuba sphere is small diving bell shaped habitat with liquid helium and oxygen tanks. Act out once. Mike is inside. He gets a call from the booth. Lieutenant totally tells him that a tropical storm is heading your way rather than hall him up. It seems that mike is going to ride it out so he strings up. His hammock gets ready for bed in gets into the sack and because he says he can't raid the refrigerator like he normally does. He settled for a bottle of liquid protein. Well you guessed it. The big storm hits and as the cutters tossed about so is the scuba sere. Suddenly one of the tanks cured to the side of the sphere breaks loose and crashes down on the hatch rendering it inoperable. Mike can't fix it and now they can't bring them up and properly decompress. The project engineer vic jennings says it will take a day to make a new hatch. Should they cut him loose. They try to get them off the bottom and ride it out but discovers fear is being dragged it gets caught on a coral formation. Two hundred fifty feet. Mike gears up with his doubles and he has some additional small tanks between the double cylinders. Not sure what they are. But there's copper tubing Spiraling up to the vows on his. Saunders looks like kind of like a still. Maybe it's helium. They never really say as his fear breaks free. Mike reid it along until the cable and telephone connections part and luckily to screw this. Fear settles when the bottom in an upright position. So mike can go back inside and he says that he needs to spend his second night in this chamber of ours. I gotta tell you mike wetsuit. Looks pretty beat up in this episode starting to peel or something like that will now. The storm has passed the cutter realizes that mike is no longer attached. They have a new door but now they have to find a habitat might goes outside and tries to inflate one of his marker. Booties but it won't work at eight atmospheres so he takes out a balloon. Blows it up a bit ties it off to a line and sends it up. Will you guessed it it bursts now. He reverts to filling up a pair of denim jeans tied off at the bottom. I remember this from my time in the navy where you could use your pants. As type of life preserver on. Mike sends the inflated pants to the surface they briefly mark the location before collapsing. But lieutenant totally thought he saw something so they stay in the area back inside scuba sphere. Mike says that he needs to conserve. Air and pray then. He remembers something from this cub scout. Days and concocts a plan to use his wetsuit. Top as a surface marker buoy. He goes back outside. Fills it up and shoots it to the surface and then ties it off to the scuba sphere dadi and or intently scanning surface suddenly dadi spots to wet suit top. Well the next thing we see. Is mike nelson signs wetsuit. Top two hundred and fifty feet dragging a new hatch cable and telephone line across the bottom. He fixes the hatch. Attach is the cable and splices in the telephone. It's cold wet work he says and he's ready to rejoin the human race. Might get back inside. He hits the hammock and sleeps through the hours of decompression. They have to bang on the sphere to wake him up once. Mike opens the hatch up. Pops dotty to give him a big hug. Mike says he must be in heaven. 'cause this is the angel he's been dreaming about what are the best of my knowledge. This is the only episode. That dadi mayfield was in. Although it appears that from the dialogue from lake that daddy was intent on marrying mike nelson or as as he puts it put a ring through his nose. Dorothy mayfield was played by the actress. Joyce meadows whether there wasn't a lot of diving in the point of no return but mike nails nelson was well ahead of the likes of george. Bon jacques cousteau and egg link in deep sea. Saturation habitation

It was going to be a limited run and of course because she was covert specific there would be a limited interest in it. I'll tell you what it was a great show or at least I thought so critics weren't so kind. It was really a great tale of what we're going through right now and the last four episodes that were already Shabbat will be going up and ABC's peacock at some time this winter. LIVE from the Esselstyn Farm
"Right. I am here. With my dad, this is this is fantastic and I want you to know that. You, think will now be the. The most prolific person on a plan strong podcast I think this will be your fourth episode episode that we've done together and the reason why I wanted to pull you aside and do something right now is because obviously we're at the farm. In upstate new. York. And we've got our big plants Doc, two thousand and twenty event coming up it'll be our ninth annual plants dock and I thought this would be an appropriate time for us to reflect on your childhood. Growing up here on the farm and how it impacted you as A. As a as a man growing up, and just you know what kind of let it flow and and see what happens but. Just for for starters. How long has this farm bending the S Allston family. Actually, was. My stepmother and you. In the nineteen, eighty, five or six. went to Albany. Police tricentennial. which is a farm that had been the same family for over three hundred years. So some some were of the order of sixteen seventy five. So the farmers got quite a tradition to it. To put it mildly I mean that's that's three hundred from my math is correct. That's. Three hundred and forty five years. Yeah we're moving on. And I think I've also heard that it's it's one of two. Two farms in the whole state of new. York, that had been owned and operated by the same family over three hundred years. which I mean. Incredible. Now, I want people to know. Before we dive into this that we're probably going to have some distractions, we've got like six six or seven grandchildren running around. And we're doing our best to kind of maintain order but. Of course of route twenty, three although it's Many yards from here often we'll have some heavy trucks and motorcycles give their little echo. Yeah. So bear with us. So when exactly did you and your your brothers and your sister and your parents moved the farm? Well, actually my dad although he spent a fair amount of time at the farm here growing up as well. His parents who lived at the farm also his father was a lawyer. Working in new. York, city so That Grew up in New York City when he went to He went to Yale and he went to. Medical School. Two years at Yale in the last two years at. Columbia. And then he began his practice of surgery in new. York. City we lived in Riverdale, which is suburb of. Of of New York City. Until I was seven years old and it it always been my father's dream. To come back in practice medicine up here. Using the farm as a home base. and. So it was in nineteen forty one in September that we moved from. New York City. To the farm. So nine, hundred, forty, one you were born in thirty three. So that makes you about eight years old I was seven because. I. Was about three avas eight three months after we moved up here. Okay. All right. and. What I mean so can you remember back? Coming from the city to the farm at. That's a pretty big adjustment. I would imagine. Yeah it was. It was. You know just seem to flow though I. Mean there was just. Nothing that was really difficult about it with a we were in sort of. A little. Local School Clark School. easy to make friends. And A state. School onto the eighth. Grade. And then Then attract began to get a little hotter my. Parents. Sent me to difficult academy. I was there for all four years. Thought deerfield was terrific. I really enjoyed. The friendships there? I love the athletics there. And fortunately, the academics there and they go to jail.

"Jody. What's up to fire nation and Shears at the interesting about yourself that most people don't know well how lo I am so delighted to be here with everyone and thank you for listening. So for the what I don't know I'm going to be. It'll be fun. So here we go. Does anybody have a map anybody? Maybe happen to know how to do this? I don't know if you can tell this is me. Pretending to know so little singing from my favorite Broadway show. Dear Evan. Hansen. Racing Beijing I will tell you this two, thousand, five, hundred, eighty, four episodes in. You're the first person to sing on the show I am just to the moon jody. Two different. So there. Is. Oil Is Enviro. Nation when we're talking about will this corona virus creates a data breach in your company and we've brought Jordan on the Mike. We've talked a lot about in the introduction, what we will be sharing throughout this episode. Bless just diving. There's a lot to get to a lot of really important stuff for you nation. So please take some notes. Notes, what are some clues jody to identify what a phishing email is? Yeah. There's there's a couple and you know just to make sure everyone knows what fishing is fishing and there's all kinds of other fancy words. It's now come to text messaging. It's like visiting and swishing and I don't know put a bunch of letters together and make it s shing. What happens is I'm impersonating it looks like I'm a real email, but in actuality I'm not I'm kind of spoofing another fancy word somebody else and. In the last couple months, it's been up three, hundred, fifty percent. It's a tremendous problem in. It's one of the easiest for a bad actor, a threat actor to try and take advantage of. So one of the very easiest places is to look at the the sender. It might say a name that you're familiar with, but you can look at the actual you are l. of or the email address of the sender in. You can tell like, CDC, Dot Gov Dot Org. There's no dot org at the end of DOT GOV or if it came from Amazon prime, it's not gonNA. Come from Amazon prime at comcast dot net. So you look at that particular one, and if the emails a little sketchy, you're not sure a highly advise you use the reading pain in most email providers to be able to look for some of these clues, some of the other ones. Ones are poor spelling or grammar. Most emails don't just say, dear, customer, they're gonNA say on. Dear, jody, they're going to personalize it. If you got just dear customer, there's probably a phishing email again, the U. R. L. and you can also look in the footer because they might change the logo. They might change the address. It doesn't look like the standard footer that you're used to getting. There might be attachment if you get attachments or links on these things, do not doubt open the email don't click the attachment. Don't click the link. That's how they get all the malware onto your computer, and the other big clue is going to be if there's an urgent need or threat like must act now open right away, call us within an hour something like that. Most. Places that are going to need urgent information are not going to do that. They're going to call you. They're going to other methods or they're going to say log into your account and they wouldn't even provide the appropriate link. They would just say go directly to our website and go do it. So those are going to be some of the really common places to be able to identify a phishing

Come back, answer if someone called me out today, and and they were very spot on. They said I feel like you are taking the stairs. One step at a time when you are destined for greatness, so my question to you is. How did you create a vision? Did it fall into your lap? Did you read a book how you create a vision for your life in Your Business that? Keeps everything going. You know like the infinite game from Simon Sinek. Thank you so so so much. Okay, so I think it's a really good question, and it's interesting because. I think a lot of us. We get into this game and we don't really know what's possible where we're going or any of those things you know like. I didn't I didn't know what was happening. Today was possible by any stretch of the machinations. So I think sometimes you bypass your vision. In fact, it was kind of a really cool. What a really cool experience I was Remember we did. The final startup story was with mixer at this. In Utah called the drive, our comedy club and had JP sears. Come into roast me for an hour before we. We did the interview and it was so funny, but anyway at dinner I asked JP makes what's next few. What's what's the next plan? And he has smiled at me. He looks so content something that I've never been my wife and he was like It's like you know what he's like so far. Everything that's happened me surpassed wherever possible select some China just enjoy, and just like enjoy things as they. They. Come and be grateful for them. And I was like Oh my gosh. That is amazing like I need to learn that, so there's that piece of it right and he gets entrepreneur struggle with us, because because We're always looking, you know come back to my my last podcast, so talking about We're so tied into achievement achievement. She moved. Forget about the fulfillment side, so there's an apartment, the other side which I understand Moore's this goal of achieving and trying to take over the world and stuff like that and You Know I. Remember A- At the very I live in ever went to I remember I one thousand dollars to go to which is like the first step for me, my call so much money like stressed out and the speakers talking up people selling different things and and I remember. I can never Ford this thing for two grander, five, ten, grand, or all these different things kind of being like bummed out about it right and I. Remember Admits Kid and the kid was. Maybe a year, older Mir, maybe same age. I was like I was twenty two at the time he been twenty three or something but we are about the same age and and I saw the the presenters Solas Mash grouping route three signed up for it and I was like how did you? How are you for that like I can I can figure it out for that and he's like. Oh, he's like well. There's two ways to get. Get the top you can work your way, and you can buy your insights by my way I'm like well for sounds like this leap in thought I'd never have crossed my mind before my okay, it's pretty cool and then then it's more questions like well. How'd you four for this and he's like I'm actually in twelve masterminds. This time I was like what how did you do that? And he came back and said well what I did is that. What and He's like I. wanted to go these things, but I couldn't afford us as they found. People who kind of trained toss of to so I wanna go is mastermind. Groups obviously can be expensive for everyone to pay. For you for you know if you guys want to go, all this is going to be really expensive so if you're interested. I think if you pay me ten grand and I get. I don't know twenty people. Two hundred thousand dollars Algo. Join all of them and I'll come back until you cool stuff I learned and he got all these people are paying twenty grand. And he took the money, or whatever it was I don't know. And he joined all these mastermind groups, and he bought his way in, and he got up, and he built his company very very very very quickly and I thought that was just a strategic thing. You know I remember celebrity apprentice. Few Watch delivery apprentice in the past I three or four episodes, people do things that was like fundraisers. It was like Corey's money sleep while on the street and they're try. Lemonade always seems raise. Money wasn't tough. I don't know two or three seasons in when the dude from kiss. that. Yeah. Kiss Gene Simmons. GM's was on it and They do fundraising things out there trying to raise money that hustling and he just sat, there picked up his phone made a phone call and got a check from his buddies for half million dollars, and you destroyed everybody else out of the Moore. Looking at thinking, he's thinking in a different level and everybody else says the thought difference, right? Everyone's like like here's the task must do the thing. And they jumped up him. Trump except step-by-step. Whereas Gene Simmons came back and said Look I can do that or I. Can just do this and we'll jump you know a thousand steps past everyone else. And I think I remember watching have now and just like okay. I got started thinking more strategically. US think tactically which tactics are so important is how we get the thing done, but it takes stopping stepping back and looking at things more strategically of okay. Here's next step next up. You want to jump five or ten or twenty tears is not going to happen by you. Doing the next step is to stepping back and saying what's the next thing like what's the? What's the big the big domino? The next I don't know there's ways to phrase. It I'm not sure the best way but conceptually it's it stopping the tactics instead back strategically and thinking different right. Click funnels I'd so many amazing strategic conversations with friends and people The worldwide software company right, if you, if you at the expert, secrets book like we talked about movement and finding a future base 'cause and like all these things that weren't. They weren't tactically like. Here's the next step it. It's like how do we? How do we? We've these things into our culture right? How do we? H-. How do you do these things? They caused these incremental big shifts as opposed to just increasing your your your ads by ten, or you're just created another friend and offer it's like. Have you create things that have mass shifts? Mass changes things like that. I think it really comes back stepping back away from the tactical, which means getting out of the day today, which means taking a vacation, which is hard for us right or or doing strategy your team, and just they look for three days, and we're GONNA work. We're talking about like what's possible. It's a future. Where could we go you know not not with Nextstep, but like if what if we just destroyed these steps and had a whole new thing like what would that look like? And how do we get there and you pull it? Poor Gene Simmons instead of fundraising. You just pull out A. Just, you know, put your phone and call buddy in and get five hundred thousand dollars in five seconds. That's that's the power of it so I. Hope it helps the no, it's not a full answer. Hopefully gets the Wilson head-spinning. Everyone else's listening help that helps as well

The show which came to life after winning a podcast competition was an immediate hit when it launched in two thousand fifteen the show got a ton of press won awards. It seemed to be the podcast that everyone I knew was talking about and then in two thousand eighteen. Something pretty incredible happened then. California Governor Jerry Brown Commuted Orleans prison sentence Brown credited Orleans work on the podcast as a significant factor in his decision after twenty one years earlier on walked out of San Quentin a free man since then early on and Nigel and the rest of the ear hustle team have continued to tell stories about life on the inside but they've also reinvented elements of the show's format and explored new narratives on the outside. She Podcasts
Local Masks
"Hello Hello Welcome to sheep. I guess I am just a cup for many of you are watching or listening for the first time. That's me this. Is She podcast? Episode to sixty four with my co-host. Lc as Khobar and our producer. John Jim Ingo. How are you guys doing today? Not to ridicule any news whatsoever about anything at all. I mean podcasting but like other like personal stuff. Well Easter was exciting. I did a drive by dinner. How while because I went to my ex this house and then because I'm not going in because they go to work and everything they brought dinner out so the kind of we set like six feet apart and they talked and I had dinner and it was weird. It was really weird. Bonnie says it's a facebook privacy thing about stream yard. They can't see your name unless you grant them permission right and I guess people just don't do it right so no or do they want in that point. A lot of them don't wanted grant permission right so but see. This is a facebook private group so we can see them in here anyhow. This isn't GonNa go. This video is not going anywhere I get it. It's not a big deal. Oh so elsie. So yes Jessica and I figured out something today that I can't believe I didn't think of this. Oh God Jessica has the adobe suite so she has adobe audition okay so one of the things. We've always had problems with his she uses quicktime and some so. She has adobe audition she can record right into addition and we've never used it in two hundred sixty four episodes. Why is that that is so card yet? Dum Dum Dum Dorky. It's Kinda Dorky. Right Kinda dark. You must have known that I've had it though right. No I wouldn't have put to do together because the thing is though just you wanted to break up with adobe suite so many separate times true and not one of the Times that. We've had a discussion about your break-up the possible break-up with adobe suite has audition ever come into the conversation that's never part of your everyday. It's just you know photoshop. Right so we use that to record her instead of quicktime and it would be so much easier and so much better and we would always know that the Mike correctly picked all the good stuff. I am so happy. Yes and we can also add to the track. We can also add compression because just could really her voice can really use compression so that you can do all of that. Pre like Yes prefixed prefixed. For her right so right now on excited like like a kid right before. Christmas. Because I'm excited because when we get off here we're going to make an appointment. We're going to go through this thing. I'm sure there'll be a lot of yelling and hollering there. Yes probably I noticed that I do have an issue when I'm trying to describe and do things when I can't see. It frustrates me when I can't see the other person's what they're doing. It frustrates me and I've been doing a lot of that lately for different clients and stuff as they set up to record in their home. Oh okay yes I need. I need to calm down. I need to be able to breathe through that. I need some kind of yoga breathing. Technique to center my Chee. Said what are you Senator Senator? Something we can just give you just can send Isaac. I can send may May and you can get through them. Then you'll find yours end. You know it's like a living. We'll be like here deal with her for a bit and then leave work through. That had four under the age of four. I know but you haven't. When was the last time? Oh well that's true. This is what I'm saying. It's like there's a practice I know when I'm in I'm in my sixties or seventies and somebody tells me how to deal with a four year five eight year old. I'm not I'm not going to be adapted. I've been like you know. Been out of it for awhile. I'm over. Yeah it's like it's forgotten like I don't even want to think about when they were infants. I don't I know Yeah No. I don't really like the idea of taking my clients and comparing them to eight year old child. I just. That's not the way it is that feeling. Oh the tenseness in the chest and the tightening in the chest he so we have some like communications. Lets say why. Don't we just acknowledge the folks and just to let everybody know that we are as of now for the past few episodes? We as in the sheep. Podcast team has been recording directly into the sea. Podcast super squad. Which is our Patriot community. So you guys can kind of watch. Us Record live in there. We're going to do the show as always Joe. Johns GonNa do post production and everything but we do have a live chat so we have some people there. We have Bonnie and we have Masai Lena. We have tiffany Humboldt who. She just actually posted that. She's. She wore her flower crown from she. Podcasts live during during the Hardcore Mermaid. Show on Friday. That's amazing that's so cool. And then she. She's asking him. What version of Stream Yard? We are using John. This question is for you. Well stream yards a web application. So you don't have to update it so I don't know what version I know what? She's talking about tiffany. You can only record stream yard if you're a pro client pay for that So in order for you to to be able to record and download your files you have to be if you are not a pro then all you can do is stream. So you have the capability to stream. I don't know how many hours for you know. I don't think anybody needs more hours to stream. But that those are all pro functionalities one of the things that Justin I also wanted to do was to do a double streaming stream to hear and to the podcast main group or to the podcast page. And we can't also can't do that unless you're pro so if you're a pro you can. I think you can Cross post to two places at once. We have done that and if we ask. Yeah have the option of two. Yeah Yeah if you're did you upgrade it Ogden profile? I've been down. No I know I know John Is. Yeah but you know I didn't know. Yeah Yeah you can only do the same time. Yeah no no basic no base. It used to be. I think way back right. John like right windstream yard. I started loud. Yeah they allow for yet when it was in. Beta. That's right. They did allow for for recording and downloading but once they opened it up. Then that's what you pay for. May GotTA STAY IN BUSINESS. Somehow and you want him to be able to stay in business. I mean it is an amazing platform. Yeah we're streaming. You know I'm telling you right now. Once they decide if they can record audio as separate separate tracks right they will be a force in podcasting. I don't know if they ever get there yet but still

Together Podcast | A conversation about faith, justice and how to change the world
No prayer, no justice with Pete Greig
"Hello and welcome to the together. Podcast conversation about faith justice how to change the world. I'm Don and today I'm joined remotely by Cat and Chris how you guys doing. Yeah so we're trying to recall this remotely so it might have to kind of feel the Z. Meeting where we will interrupt each other and everybody. Everybody says no Yuko common phrase in the English dictionary they have to offer. You have to get really solid. Should be appointed leader. You just how everyone wants to do every single cigars how how you doing. What's your. What's your view like right in this moment? So we're working from home and do you have a good little south there. Yeah I've gone inflatable. Jesus next to me Nice context or just I just I just put him in there to just keep me company so I feel like I've got some workers. Excuse this yeah. I'm still your coworker by not having been actually in my little music station where normally record at home so nice very home for me. Yeah this is. This must be familiar for you. Sat there if you just start in some freestyle staff just because you're in the zone and that's absolutely fine. I think that's go- keyboard as well. Let's go for it. How prepared as everybody knows. He's listening to this where we're in lockdown currently just heading into week four of lockdown guys. What would your one top tip be for for anybody in this situation? Either to keep them saying. Keep them entertained to keep that routine. What would your tip be if you were to give someone a tip if you were to travel back in time for weeks and say to someone that this is coming. This is my one bit for device. Fear what would that be stuck up on toilet row? You'd be that person to left so we go brave shops fine now. There's loads of them there as well. They're just make the mice of light the outdoors. What's the outdoors magical place that I guess? Your question is what their advice would be before lockdown or during OCTA down town. Yeah I think I think definitely like utilizing your one one more day because I did miss a couple. That was a time. I Wen- went out on Saturday and then didn't go out again until the following Saturday and that felt ways. That is extremely down is mine would be to start your car. You never know. It's just GonNa say it once a day but don't shouldn't you like run it for a while as well because he just started and turn off at actually die for a little bit because obviously needed to get supplies say that part is important but in terms of like an actual like like psychological spiritual thing for you to help you life. I'd say give yourself a grace is retained great for now. Of course I think is really important. Everyone tries to get routine. But if you don't not one day by the end of the world was talking to my cousin. Struggle moves like putting on weight. Meanwhile disguise like he's skinny but yeah. I think yeah a little bit more than you normally do like fine. Don't worry I like Chris. I really needed to hear that because I've been struggling to get up in the morning. I think my my two bits of advice. I one is similar to what you were just saying. But I don't know about you guys when you wake up. Naveh shower wherever you come to get dressed. The temptation to put on the jogging bottoms is strong. My advice would a always reach for the jeans or or you could go smarter and just go. Trousers like full-on save by. I think I think just getting wearing clothes that you would wear out does helps me get ready in the right frame of mind. So that's that's one kind of half joke but also have serious. I think the one that someone shared as many words use everyday call someone. You haven't spoken to in three months and so there's quite good now jumping on zoom cores in house party and that kind of thing and talking to the people that we would see every day and that's important But really this also provides us the opportunity to get back in touch with people. We haven't spoken to for a while checking them say. Hey so that might be a fan core even dropping a text or anything and so. That's been quite good because it's been my mind okay. Who who should I do? Should I take a call today? And then you kind of build up. Some momentum happened in that for over a week now and then you start up conversations with people you haven't spoken to you for a while so definitely worth worth trying that one out. That's really grow their start off. That's so they go guys. There's some advice fee listening out there in lockdown but that was just waffle. Because I know you've been waiting for the the pivotal moment in the cast. Is CATS QUESTIONS SECA? Everybody who's WHO's waiting for. This was going to say out of their misery. They're awaiting such excitement. Put them out of their excitement cat. What is today's cats questions? Well I feel like Chris missed out on one last week. It actually has come from last week's question. Technically the question that Donald Smith came about the the sources in the fridge or in the coverage so then I saw the the the popular COMBI Ketchup on May. What do you guys think about that fully behind the I o back that until the day I die so it was the question. Would I combine the two off with story number? Yeah what do you think about the Combi of catch up on the massive financially okay? We'll see this is not going to wear. That was two thousand. I thank the Combo wrong. Okay Chrissie pretend that you hate all. I'll say that I like it and that makes better listening. But now I think particularly so my if I have potato wedges than I'm a massive fan I don't necessarily mix the two sources so have catch up on one side in a catch-up area and Mayor Mayor area but over time I will kind of dip in water and dip in the other and so there is a bit of cross contamination by the I have to mix it all in now we now we get into the French. What are you playing around you? Just get it in that and a mix up percent homemade burger sous why I normally would like my first chip will be will be the one that is blessed to be the mixer and Mitch over. My first chip is usually the one where the my slavers were Say I've got a lockdown special question question if if you could only have one streaming platform from now. What would it be Youtube? Oh Art and eat meat. I didn't even think about Youtube. I was thinking was thinking more. You're paid for services. Bedtime occurs tightly. Yeah if we're talking like free as definitely Youtube paid services I think is between spotify and Net flix. Yeah nobody listen to as much music since I've been stuck in the house. So maybe I think for me. I'm between net flicks and Disney plus because on the partic- plus we're going through the marvel films in order of release guy say currently on Captain America. So I think if I lost that now the devastation equally with net flicks. I need to find out what happens to carol by skin. So three episodes four episodes of targeting with about three episodes left so yeah I think I think it would be between those two if I had to probably Disney plus just until I finish marble. Wild is big so huge. Yeah plus frozen to say what is the deal with Thai King on Comey actually of unique? Because everyone everyone has been telling me to watch it and then so we sat down and watched the trailer yesterday. And it just looks. Renders is marred. It's it's something that you couldn't possibly Ri- I'm only four episodes in but the twists and the complexity and the characters kind of characters. They're real people. Surprisingly people popping up from nowhere and then seventy just becoming major characters in this in this real life story.

Automated
Where do we go from here? My thoughts on the Future of Automation.
"What I've attempted to do over the last twenty. Four episodes is to showcase some of the main technologies that are being implemented that can automate either parts of or the entire job which a human worker can do across many different industries and sectors. So I hope to have given you the impression that automation isn't really confined to a specific part of our society but is really wide ranging. I also hope that some of the ideas presented that are connected to this mega trend of automation such as reskilling centers. Bullshit jobs universal basic income. And of course the two possible futures of creative destruction and technological unemployment have at least raise some further interest or at the very least some other questions for you so I also presented that neither future is a determined outcome individual decisions and social forces kind of course guide us towards one or the other but the current path does appear to me to be more in line with human workers being displaced by the technologies that have outlined so far granted. This isn't going to happen tomorrow Even in light of the increased amount of automation being implemented during this corona virus crisis. I don't think a significant chunk of the population across the world will be made redundant even over the next two to three years but ultimately I do think this is the pathway or on even as we will of course continue to see instances of creative destruction and worker augmentation through the new technologies. That are coming out. I do of course see the merit in the argument. That new forms of work are being continuously invented but with the adoption of advanced automated technologies to do more and more of our physical labor. And of course is starting to compete with our cognitive labor. I personally really don't see this specific future continuing forever granted. This opinion is only a snapshot of today. I am of course more than willing to change my point of view depending on the evidence as time goes on so furthermore this doesn't mean that. I hope for this outcome to happen. I am very aware of the tremendous negative economic as well as psychological impact. This will have on millions of people across the especially if it were to occur rapidly and without the proper planning and policies in place but this is also part of the reason for the existence of this podcast. Right to grow the conversation around this important topic in order to help plan for such an eventuality. I think that with the current global pandemic and of course the current repercussions. We can all see the problems that come about when nations governments and people have not properly planned for certain possible futures. But with this said I'm happy to see that more. Attention has been given to this topic over the last few years so through social media different news headlines even the increasing number of books and resources on the subject as of course all the discussions that we all continue to have there seems to be a growing sense of awareness. That automation is a very real and significant trend. That deserves our attention especially in the years to come but personally I find. The underlying impacts of automation are perhaps even more interesting than the technologies themselves so although the constant creation of new jobs with the constant changing nature of work is valuable to understand. I think that job automation has a more profound outcome. So jobs are one of the most fundamental pillars of our modern civilization and they are the way in which most human survive today so by exchanging our time for income we feed and house our families have access to transportation healthcare etc and we even spend roughly about a third of our adult lives in our jobs and many people even attribute their purpose or self worth to their job so we also use the overall increase or decrease of jobs to partly measure the entire health of a nation or even of an era so thus if jobs will be destroyed at a rate faster than they are created. This would mean a large scale. Socio economic impact would follow which can evidently be seen today with the global lockdowns destroy millions of businesses and jobs practically overnight but with high levels of job automation. This would be brought one step. Further so one of the fundamental narratives that civilization has really been following. Generations would essentially dissolve and a new narrative would need to be formed namely the disassociation from our means of survival being based on exchanging time for income. But what happens to our longstanding social structures were social value is tightly linked to the occupation. You have so. Doctors are usually seen as having more social value than say cashiers. But what happens when IBM's Watson or some other AI algorithm becomes able to diagnose the patients illness more accurately faster and more people across the entire world not to mention the paycheck. That's tied to that profession so I think the really interesting thing to consider With an automated future is the need to redesign social structures so even the implementation of a universal basic income scheme doesn't really solve this issue so if an ex doctor and an X. cashier Both receive a living wage. This doesn't automatically mean that. Social hierarchies value systems and even individual perceptions of worth naturally follow. I'm not proposing solutions here but merely raising the question as I think This is one that is really worth thinking about so the other perhaps more obvious concern that has raised with job. Automation is the displacement of workers who are simultaneously the consumers of the products and services that jobs provide so essentially unemployed workers are now unable to contribute to the needed cyclical consumption that powers the economy since they have lost their purchasing power as consumers So universal basic income schemes have typically been put forth as a form of stopgap measure when this economic issue is brought up. And we can certainly see this today in the emergency financial packages Governments across the world are putting in place in response to the economic fallout of the lockdowns imposed by the krona virus. Even though I completely see the value and of course the future need of a scheme I personally don't really see it as a perfect solution if it supports and enables the continuation of our current global economic system which is of course unfortunately based on environmentally unsustainable practices. However there might be hope that with this current corona virus crisis and in the future automation crisis. Which has the potential to be much larger. There might be some shift or transformation in the way in which are fundamental system actually works so whether actually implemented Uba schemes will act as a full solution to this problem. However we will have to

Creating an Interview Series for Blog Content
"I'm your host Dr Chris Cloney. Today's up so we're going to be talking about creating an interview series for blog content. This is the fourth episode in the content machine series. For those who've been listening for awhile you know Disa- long standing series that we do as part of the podcast back in episode eight. We DID THE FIRST EPISODE ON RANDOM. Topic blogging on episode eleven. We talked about three minute papers up so twenty-three we talked with content curation and repurposing. These are all things I've used in my business and in my blog at safety science were to build authority and bill traffic there. They were going to be talking about creating an interview series as part of your blog content so the biggest question that people ask quite frequently when they're starting a blog or even if they've been running a blog for six months or year even a couple of years is how do we increase traffic. How do I create content? They're struggling or you're struggling to create a flow create a process where you can actually go about creating content routinely getting into the world and use that to drive traffic. So that's really why in this episode and in the Konta machine series were focusing on content systems. How do you build a repeatable? Scalable process create unique content. That you can put on. Your website should drive. Seo Traffic they can share a broader to the community. How do you do that with not necessarily least amount of effort? But how do you do that in a way? That's leveraged so you're using your effort effectively and you're doing that over and over again and again you can leverage to create more content or create better content in your space become seeing authority so and this upsets specifically talk about wide focus on content systems or give eight steps to creating an interview series. What are the main benefits for this type of content? And we'll go through a couple of examples. He's there are people who pulled out websites. I pulled out As doing this in the academic space already they can go use and drive from for experience as always you can download the transcript podcast episode at grab blogger dot com slash forty seven. You're really nice. Pdf transcript of what we talk about also put in a swipe file for you. Mailing potential interviewees include things in. That's why follow that will talk about in this episode. Like getting right into the ask when you're reaching out including specific offramp for what people should do next and encouraging some gentle urgency in that email. So you want an example of how to reach out to people for your interview series. You can download that swipe file at grab liar dot com slash forty seven. So the big question you know why. Focus on content systems for your blog and it comes right back to the the biggest question that I'm asked all the time which I kind of mentioned was how do I create content. How do I drive traffic? How do the in a sustainable way that I'm not GonNa you know? Kill myself over timers. I'm going to be able to keep up with no shore at one point. Maybe you're blogging writing a post every day. I've done this for several months. But it's hard and chances are you're gonNA fall through at some point and you're just not gonNa feel like doing it. So that's why you really gotta go about creating processes and systems in your blog that you're creating content leveraging that content getting it out using it to get traffic using that to drive people back to your website stylish authority and then this is where you can go building your online business. So when I started with the safety science dot Com which was actually not called that website. It was called my dust. Explosion Research Dot com which is a terrible name very hard very easy to say well as casting but very hard to say people struggled understand it does safety scientists are much better. Name was her blogging. There I use what I call. Random topic blogging. This will appeal due at the start. I picked a science topic when flip through my textbook and said okay. I'M GONNA TALK. What's in chapter two on combustion of single particles or something like that? Research heavily created amazing images. I wrote all the material in a word document. I proof read it uploads to wordpress proof-read again. You never believe copy stuff incorrectly into wordpress than I sit there and think about it for a while and be worried about people seeing the content and feel like You know who might have put this onto the world. I'm an maybe I'd press publish. That was like my my life for the first month or two of having my blog doing this random topic blogging. It's inefficient. It's not scalable. It's overly difficult and you won't. You won't keep up with an idea of where the other although thankfully I started thinking about how to implement systems into my blog and systems into created my content which got me to where I am today and away from that random topic. Blog clue trick years to find something that works for you and stick with it for at least an extended period. Stick with it. Maybe you're maybe doing a lot of reading of technical or scientific papers right now than the three minute paper process is one that you can use to create content. We talked about this again. Backing episode eleven. Or maybe you're bored of researching and reading technical articles in your in a different stage in your doing courses or something so that you're you're not heavily into the research. Then maybe you can focus on content curation repurposing making him publish a weekly blog post covering the ten most important topics in wildlife science wildlife. Ballsy or something. I don't know making it up in the world today and use Google alerts to pull that information in repurpose into a blog post repurpose into a newsletter and use that content curation repurposing. We talked about this again. Backup so twenty three. So if you're getting this idea that content machines are content systems or creating a better way to go the news blog. About what you think about your right. That's the whole point. I'm trying to make with these different stories in this episode. We're GONNA talk about just one other another option creating an interview series. I really liked this. I've used it a bit in my blog but I've seen other people actually use them more effectively. That's why want clue examples at the end of this podcast episode. So what is an interview series so this interview others usually within a similar background to yourself or a similar background or your audience. It could really be about anything but generally you get them talk about their experiences. Their successes or struggles or difficulties really depends on the genre that you enter the scientific area in whole points to interview them about their life and their experience or their research and then put as blog posts on your on your website. So it's kind of like guest posting except you reach out to them do an interview either ridden or you can even do these over the phone and then type that often natural blog post. So how do you go about creating an interview series then? I came up with eight steps to do this process. Seven number one is to pick an overall topic so this should be one thing that you really focusing on an interview series. Maybe doing ten interviews on jobs after finishing PhD or series on things you can do with a molecular biology degree. Your I don't know what it is but picking overall topic for your interview series. This is similar to what I did when I create expert Roundup Post. But it's more broad. I didn't ex- around post. I came up with two specific questions. Dog were then step to came up to questions and sent out to experts in my field created one single post to it. This is similar. You WANNA couple overall topic. But you're doing interview about each individual person so step number two is to create your list of questions so these are the questions. You're going to ask the interviewees things like what is your background. What program are you in? What's your favorite thing about this topic? What's your least favorite thing? We'll just topic. What advice would you give somebody else? The typical ones and you can ask the same question to the people. You're interviewing Rican even bury the questions depending on their background. I like doing the same question as a reader. I kind of find interesting to see how people respond to same questions as also pretty interesting. Then you can do again coming back to leveraging you can do sort of mega poster medicos where you look at. Every maybe ten responses to the same question and pull out those underlying themes a step number to create your list of questions step number three to create your list of potential interviewees this where you scour social media your network you know people you know that you might be interested. Google earlier topic overall click on Google's recommended suggestions for similar keywords or key phrases what websites are coming up what blogs are coming up. Those are probably great people to add to your list of potential interviews and this could be a one time thing again doing ten interviews or five interviews or three interviews to interview series or it could be something you do on your blog every month. You do one interviewer every two weeks you posted interview and both these are methods. That can work but you need a list of to be able to go through so step number one number two and number three number four say. Create your template outreach email so this really important if you're you're reaching out to many people at once the guy different extra round of post I think I reached out to something like sixty people or something like that and I sent us a similar email to all sixty of them had come up with a template so it's really easier if you don't make it very specific problem being a very specific as you're never going to send the wrong name with the wrong background information or something kind of silly so. I like to send a general email out and maybe only do a sentence or two something specific to it so this process gets released Iffy create template on the general line. That uses hello. I add a personal feature. Hope it's the weather's Nice and Florida at this time of the year. I don't know it is something like that. Now you straight to the point. I'm emailing you to see if you'd be interested in doing X. Being involved in project why you really WANNA say get straight to the point within the first paragraph or two about what you're asking Then do a paragraph about why you're asking it then give them an offramp. Tell them exactly what to do next. If you're interested hit reply and we'll set a time to do the interview if you're interested here the questions and replying. Email me back your responses. You know you gotTa tell them exactly what you want them to do. Make it easy for the make of them brainless to take that
