The Personal Chef Chris Spear On What The Job Entails
"You tell us a bit more of what. These job consists of what's What's your role sure. There's a couple of different ways that people do the personal chef thing. I think most commonly a lot of personal chefs do the in-home weekly meal. Prep type things. But what. I really wanted to focus on giving people a restaurant experience in their home so i don't do any meal prep i don't have like recurring clients. I mean i definitely have repeat clients. But what i do. Is i build a customized menu preferences of my guests. So i send them a questionnaire. Find out what they like. And don't like any diet preferences. And then i show up with everything. I bring my china all the cooking pots and pans. All the food and i make everything for them there and then i go set the table and serve it to them and we do afford a six course meal and it's really similar to going out to a restaurant so and you said that this is something that you do customized in and as you have a null like repeat customer so it must be very. It's must be like a tough set up in business as well one of your Be bingoing ease always to look for you know for new customers one hundred percent. That's the biggest thing is this week. I'm good but next week. I'm still struggling. As of this point. Like i have to events and i probably need to get to more. And you know you're always hustling every single day just to get another dinner. And that is the exhausting part of it. It's not like. I have a set thing where i know. I'm cooking for three or four families every week. It's just the same as if you in a restaurant you don't know from one day to the next business is going to be like. And so you attended like culinary school traditional canary school while only on so you made a decision. I think in your career that union wanting to work at the restaurant betsy you work on Food service companies like decks. So so what made you take the decision. A couple of things. I think one culinary school is ridiculously expensive. I went to johnson wales. I got a four year bachelor's degree and came out with student loan debt remaining of either pay four hundred and four dollars a month for ten years. That was what i had left after already paying for some and you know i graduated ninety eight and when you got out what the market was looking like is at seven dollars an hour cooking jobs and i couldn't live on that but i found a job working in a retirement community and they were offering me eleven fifty an hour but i also got you know. Two weeks paid vacation medical benefits for a one k. All that stuff and it sounded great. So i definitely the finances were a big part of that but i also say just. I never really loved that restaurant. Experience the kitchen life though working till two in the morning just kind of i think a lot of the attitudes of the chefs working in restaurants. I applied for jobs out of culinary school in. Wisconsin turned off by the attitude of many of the hiring executive chefs. I just thought these guys sound alike jerks. And i don't really want to work for them

Twitter showed an example where a user charges four dollars ninety nine cents per month to receive a series of perks season as a way to let creators and publishers get paid directly by their fans. Twitter also announced a new feature called communities which appear to be its take on something like facebook groups people can create and join groups around specific like cats are plants. Twitter suggests allowing them to see more tweets focused on those topics. Groups have been a huge success for facebook and a huge moderation problem too and they could be particularly helpful tool on twitter since the services opened in nature can make it difficult for new users to get started on the platform. There's no timeline yet. Four win either of these features will launch twitter listed them as what's next for its platform during a presentation for analysts and investors. T-Mobile has a new 5G wireless plan
"You're obviously going to hear a lot more about five g this year as the major wireless carriers continue to make those networks available to more consumers among them is t mobile which just revealed details on a new plan coming up. Yes indeed yet. T. mobile's announce a new magenta. Max plan which takes place of the magenta plus plan and it will cost about the same that that plan had which was about fifty four dollars per line a month for three line plan but for a limited time you can sign up for a three line plan. That is about forty seven dollars per line per month that includes all taxes fees when you use auto pay now a single line under the magenta mex plan costs eighty dollars but each additional added brings down the overall auto pay costs forty seven dollars under the current promotion and this plan is also available for small businesses can cover up the twelve employees. Now why would you wanna do this. If you already have a plan or on another carrier t mobile says its new unlimited five g and four g premium data plan. That data will not be slowed. No matter how much data you use. Now why would you wanna do that. If you already have a plan or on another carrier t mobile says its new unlimited five g and four g premium data will not be slowed. No matter how much data you use under this new plant competing unlimited plans may temporarily slow data after certain milestones reached. Now with this new plan. You also get more hotspot data forty gigabytes up from twenty gigabytes of the current plan. You get the stream. Free plan t will also let customers on other plans bring their five g phone over and pay off up to six hundred and fifty dollars of existing payments for that phone without any switching costs. So can i just say if i hear another service that uses the word plus max to describe itself. I'm probably gonna pull what's left of my hair out. I feel like every single service of late is a plus max. There have to be other words but anyway so we're seeing five g roll out. Obviously how good is it right now. So bread is still far from being available everywhere. Here in northern. Virginia i get five g connectivity on on the verizon iphone have and also on the samsung t mobile phone i use but around the us t mobile currently covers more than two hundred and eighty million americans with its five g network but just more than one hundred million with the super fast speeds that get you to the three hundred gigabytes per second range now in comparison with traditional phones. Use four g lt. You're lucky to get fifty megabits per second. Now t mobile said it plans to reach two hundred million this year with the super fast speeds in recent tests run by open signal from for the month of january t mobile users connected to five g. Almost one third of the time thirty percent eighteen five g users connected eighteen percent of the time and verizon connected nine point five percent now. These are all improvements for the month of january according open signal. What's tests five g around the country. The good news is that typically t. mobile's actions lead to movement by the competition so all consumers might be seen better deals and kind of in the days ahead. I'll

QFC to shut down two Seattle stores; said decision 'accelerated' after city's hazard pay ordinance
"City council mandates a four dollar an hour hazard pay increase for grocery store workers so one grocery store chain announces in direct response. The closing of two of their stores. They say a four dollar an hour hazard pay hike. For grocery store workers mandated by government would raise their operating costs in the city by twenty two percent. The story comes to us from k. O. m. o. Tv and be really sad to see it. Go dean palermo with palermo. Pizza and pasta says closing the q. F. c. store right across the street from him is going to hurt this. Kfc's been here since we opened up they cue of c. says the capitol hill store on fifteenth avenue and the one in wedgwood are under performing stores. That will have a shutdown in about sixty days. Unfortunately these two stores were already struggling financially and then the city council mandate really just pushed it over the edge where it just was not a feasible option anymore. The new four dollar an hour payback's for grocery workers in the city of seattle impacts as many as ten thousand employees at stores like ufc. Fred meyer safeway albertsons. Critics say the timing of the. Qc announcement seem suspect to announce on february sixteenth. thirteen days. Later that they're gonna close to stores. Seems a little too convenient time wise to me. It seems like a direct retaliation to the local community. Putting that hazard pay in place kroger's the parent company of qc and fred. Meyer and profits are at record highs grocery store workers deserve hazard paid. They've been working in the front line confronting this virus since the very beginning at. Kfc spokeswoman says their employees have worked hard and are being given appreciation pair hazard pay but the company also says that move is hurting their bottom line. we have seen increase business during the pandemic. Disney smashes streaming subscriber expectations
"We start off with disney delivering in its latest company smashing streaming expectations the stock higher in the after hours session. Let's get straight to julie abortion. Who is fresh off that disney call julia. Melissa earnings call underway right now. The stock up nearly three percent after the company exceeded expert expectations on the top line in reported a profit rather than the loss analysts anticipated. Now the two key areas in focus parks and streaming both outperformed expectations disney's streaming business outpaced projections going to ninety five million disney plus subscribers and one hundred and forty six million total direct. To consumer customer is now that includes hulu and espn plus that division grew revenue seventy three percent from the year earlier quarter especially pleased with the success of our correct. The consumer business and our recent strategic reorganization has enabled us to accelerate. The company. Said it was a dc first business model and further grow our streaming services disney plus has exceeded even our highest expectations. Meanwhile the parts visions revenue dropped less than anticipated down by fifty three percent the company announcing that covert has headed two point six billion dollar impact on the parks divisions operating income as a result of closures and reduced capacities. Where we've been able to reopen are with limited capacity guest have consistently demonstrated a willingness and a desire to visit which we believe is a testament to the fact that they feel confident. In the health and safety protocols we've put in place average daily attendance at walt disney world significantly from q for q one japex saying they're continuing to invest to build out different features of their parks and they said they are very pleased with the reservations and consumer interest in visiting parks. Melissa of course that's going to be in focus as they start to get to be able to increase their capacity in florida and are allowed to open up here in california. All right julia. Thank you julie. Borsen the latest on disney. Which is up three percent after hours. Dia dommie how do you like the stock. How do you like what they said on this. Call well kudos again. I mentioned the last night sort of took a pass on the kudos. I'll give it to her anyway. And tim who've been all over this and so listen. I'm not a huge fan of treadmills and this is going somewhere. Mel by the way suggest indulge me for a second but you get on a treadmill. You go eight miles an hour maybe walk. Maybe put down your honor for forty five minutes but when you get off your exactly where you started and i bring that up because listen. It's great that they keep adding people to disney plus i get it but as rich greenfield amongst. Many others pointed out our food down twenty-eight percent every year i'll tell you what that means because that's the game we play here but effectively a lot of ways that running in place. Now the naysayers will say. That's a bad thing. That's going to lead to decline in stock. And the optimists will say they're going to be able to monetize all those people there all by drew barrymore short with the delorean on it and those types of thing and maybe they'll go mr toad wild ride when the parks reopened. I'm not nearly as optimistic. So it's not a great ride valuations now or at levels where i don't think it necessarily should be okay and then it pick up on that point because i also read that tweet so this past quarter the arp average revenue per user was four dollars and three cents for disney plus and a year ago is five dollars and fifty six cents. Tim should we not care about this at this early stage of growth for disney for the streaming service. I don't think so. I mean i no. I don't think so. And i think you know guy may be like george jetson on the treadmill. I avoid treadmills i. I'd rather be out there and disney's running through the streets right now with with ninety five million and essentially when you add in hulu and espn plus. We heard those numbers. This strategic reorganization is part of the excitement. Here again. this division is up. Seventy three percent during a period when netflix is been in a sweet spot of engaged in couldn't be in a better position disney's outperform the stocks outperform disney from net flicks by almost forty percent since since august. But even over the last couple of years it's outperformed net flicks which we would all certainly agree is also making a move especially in terms of profitability. But again do we care about that. With netflix's should we care about that with disney when also they're showing that they can at least be profitable and their core business through very difficult times on the way out of kobe. So look i understand the profitability issues. At some point disney's got to create their own content. We know that's very expensive. But if you're asking me you know from from an investor's perspective. Am i happy with with the metrics that are driving the stock to move higher and thirty nine times five bucks. A share of two thousand and twenty two is is not expensive when you consider what is being paid for net flicks.
Assessing Semiconductor Supply Issues, Giga Berlin Battery Update
"Everybody robbing our here and today we're going to be talking about the semiconductor supplier issue that has been affecting the automotive industry as a whole and we do have a few other topics to go through as well. This is a live episode because after we go through this. I do have some thoughts to share. But i thought it'd be best shared live so we're gonna do the kind of normal episode structure But it will be live so bear with me as always but we'll get into it will start off just looking at the stock today so finish down five point three percent to eight hundred and four dollars eighty two sons. I compare to the nasdaq which is on the video. But down a quarter of a percent so it was a tough day for tesla today especially relative to the broader market other automakers. Did you know at least the ones. I looked at fare worse than the market today as well thing. Gm ford were right around down to percents neo. Probably in that ballpark as well So i don't know that this drop was entirely isolated to tesla but certainly tussle moved a little bit further perhaps related to the supply of semiconductor. So let's move into that topic For whatever reason. I've had i don't know fifty to one hundred people. Ask me about this over the last two days whether that's in the youtube comments or on twitter or on patriae on a lot of people for some reason seem to be incredibly interested in this in the last forty eight hours even though this has been something that's been discussed in the automotive industry since back in mid december And tesla has already talked about it a little too so we'll go through tussles comments. I'm here as well. So essentially what's going on. I'll go into some links here in a second. But what's going on here is that there is the semiconductor supply shortage which is a factor of multiple different things that factored into it so primarily what has been driving it is two things the pandemic and then the rise in some areas of consumer electronics. So the work from home movement during the pandemic has caused increase supply for things like laptops and stuff like that. That people are upgrading for working from home. The five g cycle with phones has caused an increase from what i gather in semiconductor needs and then the next generation consoles with the xbox one whatever it's called now and the bs five launching those things have worked together to create more more demand in the consumer electronics base and then in the automotive space because of the shutdowns that were experienced in the first half twenty twenty the a lot of automakers cut their orders or their contracts with semiconductor suppliers to help get through that period of time. So what that is caused. Is those autumn those suppliers to necessarily want to cut production. And things like that. They worked through Their safety stocks. So let's let's get into you some comments here from Chipmakers the first one. That i wanna look here. This is from microchip technology. So this is from a couple of weeks backer. Just not only one week back. But they kind of talk about how they got into the situation that they're in In terms of semiconductor in the automotive supply chain so they're talking about how their customers generally pulled back very hard. During the pandemic there was no backlog visibility in this environment. They had no choice to down inventories and safety stock to protect themselves from what looked like severe economic contraction and they saw similar similar actions from their suppliers that worked that they were together for Actually producing their semiconductors so they said during his time no one in the industry was adding capacity. Obviously given the uncertainty about win things would recover And that uncertainty extended significantly as the bottom of market as well so one of the things that they talk about here. That will come back. A little bit later is that they're offering this microchip. Preferred supply program called bs to offer the prioritized capacity to companies. That are willing to work with them. To order. twelve months of continuous non cancelable non reschedule will supply So they're not guaranteeing capacity for that but they're prioritizing people that are willing to make those longer term commitments and because if we rewind it back to the for salvatore nineteen because other because a lot of other because a lot of automakers were uncertain about their demand they were unwilling to give a lot of certainty to these two suppliers. So that's kind of brought the semiconductor situation into where it is today and they're trying to work through this now and that's impacting. A lot of different automakers couple other quotes here just from people in the industry so this one is from continental Major supplier in the space. They're talking about lead. Times for semiconductors saying what with lead times of six to nine months. The semiconductor industry has not been able to scale it fast enough to meet this unexpected growth. In automotive demand which really is a return to previous levels not necessarily new growth than they continue saying quote the bottlenecks from the semiconductor industry expected to continue well into twenty twenty one causing major disruptions and continentals production. So that gives us a bit of a timeline in terms of how this issue looks. We don't necessarily have a scale from that. Then let's move into one of their quote here. This is from Tmc one of the obviously major manufacturers. I think they do like seventy percent of some semiconductors or something like that so specific to their automotive customers They continued to decrease demand for cms t s emcees semiconductors in third quarter of two thousand nineteen. The chipmaker only began to see southern recovery automotive orders in the fourth quarter. Their ceo said earnings call earlier this month
Cuba: a vintage playground
"Type freida. Hey carmen. what's up. I am convinced. Let's go to cuba carmen. Then go to cuba freedom. Yeah have never been as adults. Were both born in cuba. I've went back to cuba. When i was seven and when i was ten with my family but i haven't been back since then. I haven't ever been back ever since i left. So this episode deals with a question that we get asked a law when anyone learns that. We are cuban specifically that we were born there three days. Have you ever been back. Inevitably what we hear the most is. I want to go to cuba changes and this is so low added a lot of the times. I don't really know what to respond to that. I kind of just smile and say oh. Yeah that's that's interesting. And then i turned to subjects. Let's break it down so the first part. I want to go to cuba for some people. You can stop the sentence there and it's already a problem. I want to go to cuba. Those are folks who are typically in the pro embargo anti travel camp. Just saying that to a cuban american. Who's in that camp will cause some tension but saying that you want to go before it changes. I think illicit something even people who feel more comfortable end and actually might even encourage the idea of engagement and interaction between the two countries. The us in cuba. Because it suggests that you don't want cue to change the group of people that are saying this that they want to keep it before it changes those. Those people are not cuban those people are gingas or they're latinos. That are living in the us but this is a very us centric point of view because lots of people have been vacationing cuba for a very long time namely the canadians. People from the uk spaniards even australians. Make that track. Lots of people go to cuba. And it's not so taboo or forbidden. So cuban americans specifically cuban-americans with family in the island have been able to go to cuba for the entirety of time line. Were about to describe. Tourism to cuba can be divided. I think into three different stages. The first one is before nineteen fifty-nine before the revolution where americans were traveling to cuba nonstop. No problems if you've ever been to the keys of florida or key west. It's ninety miles from cuba and to this day if you travel there you see a bunch of old posters from the nineteen fifties and nineteen forty s. I traveled to cuba. Four dollar. cuba was open to americans end. Americans were coming in partying beautiful island and it was easy and cheap from key us then came the revolution and things changed entirely. Cuba didn't even think about tourism until almost the fall of the soviet union because it was out there in the middle of the caribbean trying to build entirely new indifferent economy who has time for tourism. After the fall of the soviet union cuba started to rebuild its tourist economy restrictions for americans. Traveling to cuba have existed since the embargo. Which has been in place since nineteen sixty two so the embargo the set of sanctions placed by the united states on cuba. The intention of the embargo. According to the united states is to encourage via sanctions for the cuban government and not be communist and potentially become democratic. Some of the restrictions include other countries not being able to trade with cuba for fear of consequences placed by the united states. Americans have not really been able to travel to cuba unless you're going for a very coordinated trip for example. A student trip or church trip in two thousand sixteen obama came out and said that americans be able to travel to cuba. I do not believe we can keep doing the same thing for over five decades and expect a different result. Moreover does not serve america's interests or the cuban people to try to push cuba towards collapse rushed to go. That's when people decided that they needed to go if they were going to go before. It changes recording this. In february of twenty twenty one trump reversed obama's policies travel restrictions returned for americans and right before trump leaves office. Cuba was placed back on the list of state. Sponsors of terrorism

Seattle grocery workers get hazard-pay boost
"Month. The seattle city council decided to require big grocery store chains to give their employees hazard pay during the pandemic an extra four dollars per hour. Here's counselor teresa moscato. It's really about the folks who are on the ground in those grocery store floors stocking shelves who are having people reach over them to reach for that zucchini of one grocery worker talks about and sealing the customers breath on them. Those are the folks we need to attack. I said grocery store chains. It's companies with more than five hundred employees stores bigger than ten thousand square feet not convenience stores or food marts or a farmer's market and it's tough to have people breathing on you while they're having you reach for their zucchini but grocery workers are happy to do that. Work said union member. Joe is ryan power outage snowstorm. Where do people rush off to go to the grocery store but we need to show care for the workers care for us well. The grocery industry didn't like care in the form of this hazard pay. Tammy henrik heads. The washington food industry association and she says local grocery stores are not all making big profits and they faced expenses from theft and from delivery fees increased labor costs and cleaning and all of those so seattle really needs to be evaluated on its own merit. And we're just not seen prophets in seattle right now so this week. The hazard pay kicked in workers started getting it but brian. Some grocery industry trade groups sued the city. What what are they claiming a few different things here. bill. I think i see two main pieces here. The first one basically grocery stores are saying they're being singled out as an industry here. There's an equal protection clause and our federal and state constitutions that talks about this and we're also talking about this idea that governments are not supposed to impair contracts. That's part of our constitution as well. They don't want to tip the favor from one side to the other hazard pay is something that these different grocery stores. You're talking about with their workers right now and i think bottom line for me. No one would ever argue that grocery store workers are not being heroic right now. I know i rely on the grocery store. That's near my home. And what in west seattle here but big picture here. Not all of our healthcare workers are getting a hazard pay bump So why not require that. And why is it four bucks an hour. I think there are a lot of questions about this. That are gonna come out as this court case unfolds.
Many Seattle Grocery Store Workers Are About to Get a Hazard Pay Bump
"Days before seattle area. Grocery workers are set to earn an extra four dollars. An hour hazard pay one. Local chain is asking to be excused. Pc says that out of more than seventeen hundred workers. It seen just three dozen cases none of them tied to stores. The co says margins are already slim and it will be further hurt by the pay increase. The seattle city council passed unanimously last week. Pcc is asking mayor durkin to exempt independent local grocers from the pay bump and focus on getting all grocery workers vaccines as soon as possible.
Small investors turn GameStop into a Wall Street "David and Goliath" story
"David and goliath story but with social media yeah. A story of small stock traders outwitting big institutional investors and making a fortune. Doing it for the moment game. Stop who's star covered around four dollars a year ago over three hundred dollars with the biggest gains happening just in this past week and in large part due to the buzz on social media online brokers tried to put the brakes on the wild ride but yesterday there were many more twists entrance. Npr's berliner senior editor in our business has been following all this. Thanks so much for being with us. He's got can you give us a recap of All the ups and downs this week. It's called short-selling At the same time though the online communities where a lot of people have taken to online trading People who were They were game. Stop fan maybe they had boss stuff there as kids and there are a lot more people treat online during the pandemic and they started buying stock when there's really push down And it just started picking up steam totally proliferated this weekend. It became kind of a mass movement. It sends the stock price in the stratosphere and the big hedge funds took a lot of losses. I mean that's the point and people make money a lot of people lose money who who winds up paying the price well. So far it's the hedge funds the short seller's they've lost a lot of money billions But that could all change if the game stop stock tumbles back to earth like for example where it was at the beginning of the year. It could be really painful for a lot of people who join these. These of message groups in in a place called a wall street bets where they've gathered to push up the stock. It's been kind of a jubilant atmosphere but if the stock starts fine they could get hurt pretty badly. Should we expect greater controls on. These rollercoaster trades to come in well. We saw some during the week. The popular online broker robin hood restricted trading game. Stop stop people from buying the stock. There was a huge backlash against robin hood. People were saying there was a lady double standard against small investors Robinhood opened up trading again on friday beyond that we should be hearings in congress and the securities and exchange commission dot a warning to be on the lookout for market manipulation. But there's no public evidence of that so far in this situation. There's nothing illegal or wrong about being enthusiastic about his stock now. If there's evidence the stock price was artificially inflated that would be a different story. How much has wall street been shaken by this. By saying how i'd want to say how easy because i'm sure it's not easy but How this could happen so unexpectedly. It's a seismic shift The power was in the hand of small investors for once you know wall street. Firms have had a lot of advantages in markets. That's let some people think they're rigged and this time the emitters got the upper hand Where this goes. No there could be some bearing back of short-selling but really we don't really know

"We've got a very inexpensive wine. The vonda e. v. a. n. t. a. mullebeck twenty nineteen from mendoza argentina. It's from all d. And of course it sells for four dollars and forty nine cents four fifty. They found a way to get a penny under that much. So there you go so it's very cheap wine ma back from mendoza's good. I mean they have a ton of mullebeck rape. There's been years all over the place. You're doing a young lines. Twenty nine thousand nine vintage those wines are plentiful. Those grapes are plentiful so to get a good wine from there isn't unexpected. This puts this wine in at four forty nine this puts in this in the two buck. Chuck charles shaw category. Because he got to pay importer and they got to ship it up margin tina to plug chuck house. We central coast california. It's a little bit. There's some cost associated there that are savings so so i didn't know what to expect with it and it's actually pretty good. It's not a complicated one. What what you get is what you get up bra. It's all the way through the wine put. It's not bad taste is pretty good. It's got some toasty vanilla oak things going on which is which is oak barrel flavoring and at four dollars and forty nine cents. I doubt if they entry used barrels they are kind of expensive. And there's no room in poor forty nine wind for that and there's other ways you can get oak flavoring in and at four for you. Don't care been whatever way they used to get that labor there. It's much appreciate emmett. Take a sip. It's kinda smooth. It's scannel medium bodied. it's got really rich. Black cherry flavor scott. Some black pepper's sop spice. Maybe maybe some cranberry towards the end of it. You know no midfeld like that but it does taste good. It's four forty nine people in europe place where they drink wine bottle wine with their every meal every lunch. Dinner only moved a couple of euros for those those wives. I mean they're made go with know. Pay four forty nine for their wines. So you know when you think about that. You shouldn't be surprised when a wine that's very expensive tastes pretty good and and not being complex. This would go with burgers pizza. You know chicago got we have als beep beep or for tillers would another place where struggled to have this one rack that would make make gay ordinary a dinner even better minute drinks fight on its own. Sometimes food. wine doesn't drink that great because it's not meant to drink graves spent bear with putin and this actually from four forty nine kind of handles both things. If there's a lot of mullebeck some good wineries and argentina the entry level mullebeck. That are really good. And i wouldn't put this up there with the best of the wineries foot as a four forty nine mall beckett actually is fine. I mean if you're at a budget you know you're having a party four bottles of this for twenty bucks in home. People are not going to complain. You ask you how much the wind class golan's guessing four fifty good
Get ready for Apple's first $100 billion quarter in history
"Site ran part of a note. From bernstein research analyst tony saginaw gi. Who no surprise is still pretty. Suck unagi kind of crazy. He is actually up to his expectations and a pretty big way. But he can't help the whole e or think pulling parts of his note. We are raising our first-quarter earnings per share estimates to a buck fifty three and fiscal year. Twenty twenty one earnings per share to four dollars and twenty six cents due to higher iphone. Asp's a weaker us dollar and better mac and ipad sales worth noting their earnings per share estimate of a buck fifty three for the december quarter higher than morgan stanley analyst. Katie hubertus estimate of about fifty yet is stoked and he is saginaw. Unagi quoting his again. So what's next on one hand. Our analysis indicates that apple outperforms sixty five percent to eighty percent of the time in the near term when revenue revisions or positive on the other hand opportunities for upward revisions for fiscal year. Two thousand twenty one estimates are likely to be more muted post. This quarter second. Quarter and fourth quarter. Revenues are typically seasonal. Apple will be staring down a very strong ipad and mac comparison in the second half and it's unclear. If next year's iphone cycle will offer compelling new functionality. Second doggy stays neutral on apple with a market perform raiding his price target on the company's shares as one hundred twenty dollars those shares closed thursday at one hundred thirty six dollars and eighty seven sense.

Creating a website with Wix
"So the hot is are now in full swing. And you've got so much free time on your hands ready to tackle creating that new website or blog. well yeah. It's a daunting project but online tools of the last several years. Now make it much easier than in the past with dragon drop options that can let you create something that looks really good within a few hours that is of course once you've mastered the basics of how the programs work if you listen to podcasts. You've heard the words wordpress squarespace and wicks frequent advertisers. On many shows. Telling you how easy it is to make a cool website now. Wordpress targeted towards tech nerds. Who don't need support while squarespace in wicks or for the rest of us. I have been unhappy with the look of my wordpress photography blog for some time and i wanted a fresh start so i was inspired to give a try by my friend. Ed beg who after he left. Usa today started a wickes website and blog. That i think looks fantastic. So i went off to create a new blog on wits in a few days. That may not look as great as ads but it. I think it's clearly more appealing to the eye than what i have with wordpress. Now before you go down this rabbit hole know that wicks can be used for free however your web address will have wicks and the name and you'll have wicks branding all over the site and once you decide that you're serious. You're not going to want to have this free site anymore. You're gonna wanna pay to remove the branding and get your own personalized demeaning. The other thing to note is that once you have your blog you have to pay someone to host it to have it online and boy is. There are a lot of fine print. You can see that there are companies like go daddy host dream host. That will charge you anywhere from five to ten dollars monthly to way more depending on the size of your site but that introductory rate is just that introductory wait. They will jack you up afterwards. Dream host for instance advertisers array to four dollars monthly or about fifty bucks for the first year jumping to one hundred twenty dollars in the second year for me. What's even worse. Is that go daddy. The plan i have now is advertised. That thirteen dollars monthly. But because i'm several years into the contract. I've been bumped up to twenty dollars monthly or two hundred and forty dollars a year. So yeah. I'm interested in leaving. Wicks in squarespace both offer hosting as well as website and blog creation tools for the masses support and they don't offer introductory pricing so i like that squarespace rates start at twelve dollars. Go to forty dollars. Monthly wicks starts at fourteen dollars and those to about forty dollars monthly as well but a big difference squarespace will offer you unlimited storage for photos which is a big deal. Since we can't run our posts without photos wicks doesn't offer unlimited photo storage it offers three gigabytes of storage the fourteen dollar rate ten gigabytes at the dollar rate two hundred gigs the twenty-three dollar rate and i don't know what any of that means because how many pictures are going to fit in a gig and wicks doesn't have a tool for you to see how much storage you've used now. I love the ease of creating a site with wicks. I love the many design options and the fact that it's potentially more affordable way more versatile than what i have with go daddy but the storage could be an issue. What happens if you start running out of room. Well i think you know the answer. You have to start paying more money. If you're at the eighteen dollar eight monthly. you're gonna have to go to twenty three dollars monthly. Meanwhile we'll i switch from wordpress to wicks while i'm leaning in that direction as again i prefer the look and the tools to expand beyond what i have now but i do post a lot of photos. It is a photography blog after all. So it's something i have to consider. I will let you know my decision within the next few days
DACOR - An Original Five
"When you own a dive shop people routinely either stop by or call us to see if we're interested in buying their old scuba gear or they have equipment that they used many years ago and went to try to get back into diving and wonder if we can service it. Well that's a whole different discussion than where i wanna go today. Many times the gear that they bring in is from decor one of the original five. Us manufacturers scuba diving equipment in the united states. We've already covered two of those five here on scuba shack radio voice and health ways and i'll get to the other to swim. Master stivers down the road today. We're going to talk about decor. The davidson corporation was founded in nineteen fifty three by samuel davidson junior. Sam took the da from davidson and decio are from corporation and put them together to form decor i read somewhere online at sam patented the name and even gave the patent number three dot one two eight four eight one. Why tried to find that specific patent and couldn't find that where he patented the name but that number came up with something called a safety float that was submitted by samuel davidson junior filed in nineteen sixty. One so interesting. So how did sam davidson get interested in scuba diving. Well sam richard klein who started health ways was also in the united states marine corps during world war two he was stationed on guam and it said that he had gotten hold of some japanese goggles and started to explore underwater after the war. His interest in exploring underwater continued back then. Getting reliable. scuba equipment wasn't easy. So sam hooked up with an old neighborhood friend named bob olsen and they decided to build their own double hose regulator well somewhere along the way a buyer from montgomery ward department store chain found out about the regulator and purchase ten later. They update to three hundred. Sam had a business. He borrowed ten thousand dollars from his mother and got rolling by nineteen fifty five decor was producing what they called their dial breath. Double hose regulator sam along with another engineer while he mitchell continue to work on regulator development along with other scuba diving equipment from my review of the old decor catalogs. It looks like they didn't introduce their first. Single hose regulator the decor dart until one thousand nine hundred sixty two although they had developed earlier some say four years before sports ways introduced. There's but as a as we've seen with health ways and dick anderson's work a lot of folks who are innovating at this time. One of the ways. I like to research. these early. Manufacturers is look at their old catalogues. The cg forty-five website has a lot of reference material. Along with these old catalogs the earliest decor catalog that i was able to review from thousand nine hundred sixty one. That was the same year that see honda ended. The catalog was a whopping four pages. Long it had there are three double hose. Dial breath regulator for eighty two dollars. They complete single tanks system for one hundred and forty four dollars and a double host set up for doubles. Set up for two hundred and twenty nine. You could pay an extra five dollars to get yellow tanks. The cadillac had one mask one snorkel and one set of things by nineteen sixty two their line expanded with the d one day corridor. Single hose regulator and a new are four dial breath double hose. Remember that patented safety float. Well it was in thousand nine hundred sixty two catalog over the next couple of years. They continue to innovate with the dart d. Two and a dart with ajay valve for three hundred psi reserve on the first stage they also had the clipper series double hose regulators c two and c three by nineteen seventy decor came out with yet another new regulator line the olympic series with the one hundred two hundred four hundred and eight hundred. The last catalog. I went through was from one thousand nine hundred eighty and decor was touting twenty-six years of diving innovation with a doubling of their space at northfield manufacturing headquarters and the installation of a hyperbaric chamber for regulator testing. Looks like nineteen eighty was the year. They introduced what they touted. As a revolutionary regulator their decor pacer regulators pacer is short for positive air controlled equalizing regulator claiming to have totally balanced first and second stages with a remarkable point zero five inches of water. Cracking pressure wow. That's pretty low. They say they harnessed venturi with something called. Ventura matic something really innovation at this. Time was there microsoft Circuit dive computer. It looks like it took up. Most of your forearm with indicators for deco cent rate depth time readouts and more. It was quite a marvel for the time. Sam davidson passed away in nineteen eighty seven and sam's wife. Joan became ceo by nine thousand nine hundred ninety eight. Joan sold decor tomorrow's an overtime the decor named faded into our diving history. I did see a short article in two thousand five edition of sport diver and it was from nari and they indicated that they could no longer get replacement parts for decor regulators because the parts suppliers had destroyed their mold before they can move all of that to the marez a facility in palo italy. So that's a little bit of the history of sam davison junior the davidson corporation and decor one of the five original scuba equipment manufacturers in the united states.

I think there was some hope that we were going to seek effort at fiscal constraint. And a lot of this on the spending side right now. There was some hope we see some fiscal restraint. We're not seeing it as I mentioned we've seen really an explosion in federal spending. And just not hearing the voices in terms of the people that matter, for example, the people in the house and the Senate I'm not hearing much at all from them. Actually, even though it's a midterm election year. They just don't seem to want to talk about it. And it's just it goes on and on. I mean, this the sixty four dollar question at which point at which point are we going to see some sort of a reaction from the politicians that have the power to change all of this. I don't know the answer because they don't know the answer. And they don't even want to talk about it. So they haven't even fixed the long term problems in the obvious Medicare is the most obvious social security is also something it has to be fixed. Long-term they're not addressing it. I think a lot of them look upon it as the third rail. They know people want their Medicare benefits they want their social security benefits. And I think that they are afraid to address it. And I think as long as they're afraid to address it they won't. And if it goes to thirty trillion forty trillions fifty trillion sixty trillion at what point does the dollar lose value. I mean what what's the economic fallout from that? Well, we'll know by watching the markets. What the economic fallout is in terms of the value of the dollar in terms of the willingness to take the risk to buy treasury securities. We haven't seen it so far. The dollar has been back and forth. But it hasn't been any big deal over the last couple of years we've seen. I mean, we saw about a ten percent retracement in the dollar and foreign exchange. But it's recovered a few percentage points of that loss. So it hasn't been a really big deal. Certainly in terms of the willingness of investors to buy treasury securities. We certainly haven't seen any big movement there in terms of backing away because of risk because you would see that in the yield. It would show up in the yield not just in the not talking about the increases in short-term rates from the fed that's governed by fed policy. I'm talking about intermediate and long-term rates. You're just not really seeing fear over repayment in that sector of the market. I mean, you would see it there people were afraid or certainly a long-term factor. Is that the greater the especially when it's over three percent of GDP? And it is right now it's four and a half percent. His annual deficit I'm talking about and as long as that's going on that does have a restore a long-term restraining impact on the growth of the country because more and more of our wealth goes to paying interest on the debt and also keep in mind that for every one percent average increase in the cost of the debt..
