"He doesn't have the like the zip anymore that he used to on those late game plays where like not to take anything away from caruso but he can be stopped in an isolation. Yeah trying to also. Sometimes you watch somebody guard. You know a high pick and roll rabaul screen. Whatever and you're like. How do you really fight over a pick etc you know. Sometimes there's such little you can do Sometimes someone's just such a good screen etcetera but then you watch someone like caruso and you see him fight through every screen. Stay in front of his. It's it's incredible to watch. I mean there's some guards who really really good at it him. Kyle lowry and fred vanfleet. I remember in that celtics playoff series in the bubble. It was incredible watching them how high they would pick up guards and fight over screens etc like there are some guys who do it in remind you that it is possible way. And what. what is that separation between You know solid defenders in great defenders. And i think careers great defender. So i wanna talk for two seconds about The warriors grizzlies game which was also awesome green. Great game Without looking. I don't know if you have the box score front if you do not look at it. How many three pointers did steph curry attempt in this game. Oh god he was piling up sixteen. Twenty twenty yeah. He had like seven in the third quarter or something he took twenty. Three's and forty one minutes Just god bless steph curry. He is finished with thirty six and eight. The gravity is the gravity. Everybody knows that Was really he had the The grizzlies just in fits trying to chase him around at points throughout the game off screens back door. He's just you know. I think like we're talking. Wanna talk about miranda. Obviously 'cause he's yeah. I think i agree one hundred percent with you. The moran is right now today. This will have been flow. But right now today i would say if i was ranking ten best players in the world's john marantz obviously on that has to be but like if steps gonna be this good all year which is totally like if he stays healthy. Just kind of like thirty. We're talking thirty points a game Right now he's averaging thirty eight and six assists shooting thirty percent from deep which is which is bad for him. He's the craig bathroom on thirteen attempts and all of them. Almost all of them are like really tough shots. But like i don't know what do you like is steph lake. I don't know i like. are we under. Step me to me. My take away from that was and i wrote about this too. Because he's on my first week all nba team but jeff bridges. I can't believe that you texted me to ask. I know you mouth night. That was the same night. Barnes hit the game winner against the size bars over the top of my bridges. It's been one he tailed off after the 'back-to-back thirty point games start the season. He's been great he. You know. I apologize to him in the start. That section but You know barnes at that game winner. And i was like nah. I got well. I wanted to talk about harrison barnes. To maybe i'll bring them up again later. Let's bring them up when we talk about the suns yet the sunset so to me. What's interesting about curry is first of all. I know you're sorta like rightfully pretty upset last year..

"Hey everybody this is former ceus. You running back kyle bell and you are listening to my main man brady whole on the whole show. Do not turn your dial. Keep it right here joining me now on our i advantage. Hotline is the voice of the colorado. Buffaloes mark johnson. Mark my friend this this game over the weekend boy. That was interesting. Felt like it was thirteen. Nothing for eight years and suddenly something happened with minnesota. They end up winning this thing. Thirty two nothing. I couldn't believe the final score. Well interesting so nice way pulling it was that that was heavy lifting on saturday broadcasting. A game like that. Yeah and i'll be honest with you brady. I mean i said it's broadcast. I didn't see that coming. I i did not see. I didn't there was nothing that indicated that now Was i totally surprised about. Offense was not spectacular. No that we've seen that through two weeks. The offense has been a work in progress. Let's put it that way. What i didn't see was having nineteen minus nineteen yards rushing into that ballgame having single-digit yardage at halftime. That's what i did say now. What happens in the ball game like that when your offense is not doing its job and then you hang defense out and you talked about being thirteen nothing and the fact that late with a minute left in the third quarter it was still thirteen. Nothing is remarkable. The fact that comedy we still in that ballgame that late in the game and having done zero on the offense aside which shows you how well the defense is playing. I got messages after the game. You know ribbon the defense and you know the way it works when the team gets like that. Everyone stanks somebody offense. Thanks to deep defense. Thanks announcers thank everybody. Snacks and and You know i. I responded to the folks just know. That's not a fair assessment. That defense was on the field on a very hot day. It's forty one minutes that ballgame and kept that game where it was and then finally into the fourth quarter you know finally gave up some plays and giving up thirty points and four hundred forty yards. So i'm not gonna figure that defense now coaches will you know. They'll they'll play with their team. Hey gotta be better than we understand that. But if the offense for colorado went out and that ballgame and just was moderately good..

"We've been here for probably about three weeks now. We're sitting in the bedroom of airbnb of sounds a little bit different than our podcast normally sounds. That's the reason after the interview. We will circle back. And maybe give you guys a quick rundown of some of the things that we've done on our little vacation here in costa rica and some of the ways. We've tried to stay fit as well and know angie's personally trying to sweat as much as she can on each run right angie. I don't have to try with that. Yes not that hard to do down here. So between the last time that we recorded and today the western states one hundred miler a prestigious ultra marathon in the us. took place. It was extremely hot year. From what i heard and we just thought we'd give you guys a quick rundown of what happened at the race because dean karnataka's we'll be talking about it a little bit in his book. A runner's high kind of centers around going back to this race. So angie give us a rundown of western states twenty twenty one well of course people remember that last year western states did not have its historic race so this has been the first one in two years and it was tough as you alluded to the temperatures eventually reached up to one hundred one degrees only seven other days in race history of ben that hot so it was quite a challenge before the race. Western states organizers announced they were providing thirty two thousand pounds of ice for the aid stations which works out to about five pounds of ice per runner per aid station and so in addition to the usual spun showers and ice shirts many racers were stuffing ice and every available space including their best sports bras arm sleeves hats and buffs to try to stay ahead of the california heat. Despite these measures many racers were still affected. And there were one hundred seven d-fs And two hundred eight finishers. Yeah of course stands for did not finish so the women's race shaped it to be really historic with ten women placing in the top twenty one and three place in the top ten in fact around fourteen hours into the race. Twenty of the top forty runners were women although women made up only seventy two of the three hundred twenty available spots the first place female. Was beth pascall a pediatrician from the uk. And her winning time. This year was seventeen hours ten minutes and forty one seconds to set the second fastest women's time in western states history and the highest female placement in the race overall since two thousand and two so she ran a really smart and strong race in second place in her first. One hundred miler was new. Zealand's ruth kroft. She was in the top ten at fifty k. Moved into fifth place around the fifty five mile mark and then was the second woman after mile seventy eight and she ultimately finished in ninth place. Overall and third place was pregnant. Bats who is from the netherlands but lives in spain. She is age forty two and she got the masters win as well with the time of seventeen hours. Forty one minutes and thirteen seconds. She bested the masters record that was previously held by ann. Trason for the past nineteen years. And she bested by thirty minutes. Yeah so the foreign women swept the podium this year at western states angie mention and trason. That's a amazing person. read about..

"He was in attendance for last night's game between the clippers in the suns which are big takeaway from last night there. Chris you know. Just the resiliency of the clippers. I mean we've seen it throughout these playoffs going down to zip in both the first and second round but you know this comeback and win in this game was maybe even more impressive to be. I mean they learned about the injury and will the extent of the injury zoo botch at the morning. Shootaround and to already down serge ibaka kawhi leonard and now being down your best big man going up against a big physical team with a guy like the andrea eight to still be able to not only rally and win but they came out fast and they were up twenty to five early in this game. They had multiple opportunities in the second. Half to fold the clippers. Have this this this this history of not showing up and big moments that history regardless what happens in this series. I think has been You know largely erased because the performance of this team but you try to handicap this series. I wasn't surprised that i wouldn't be surprised if the clippers won last night because why not now they go back home where you would expect the clippers to win. So what do you expect here in game six. I i have no idea. There's there's an argument to be made that you know this was kinda. The clipper shooting their shot here. This was everything they had left at the tank. Be paul george. Look at the minutes. Paul george has played in this post. If it's like seven thirty five which is one hundred thirty more than anybody else in these playoffs sitting in the interview room after the game i mean he looked exhausted. Marcus morris has battled a knee injury of his own. Had to go. Forty one minutes largely against the andre aiden. He looked exhausted. I mean y- there's only so many proverbial bullets they have left in the chamber and.

"Joining me. Is the ringer's jay kyle. What's going on. Kyle not too much just join. You know as my son's first birthday yesterday so it's been just a fun time better than a year ago where we couldn't see anybody so and just having a good weekend on that front and then watching some hoops interesting weekend for hoops. Yeah definitely an interesting weekend. You're able to watch. The suns beat the clippers eighty four to eighty after celebrating his sons. Happy birthday. happy birthday to handle hope. You had a talented family kyle. The clippers have a good time last. I know they didn. Sons fans are still celebrating despite the fact that that was one of the weirdest schemes very very nineties. Game felt like throwback vintage game because those used to be a common place a game in the nba playoffs through throughout the entire regular season with the way off our nowadays. You don't see a lot of eighty four eighty games. The clippers had only thirty six first-half points. Then they exploded for thirty in the third quarter and it feels like the game was about to fall away from the clippers. Who were slip through their fingers. Devon booker was so frustrated. He removed the mask. The pace had slowed. The sons weren't weren't playing well at all. But then in the fourth. Quarter fifteen to fourteen sons in the fourth quarter. Hold on win the game. It's one of the ugliest fourth quarters. I've seen in a long time but ultimately here kyle sons are up three one chris. Paul and the phoenix suns are one game away from the nba finals. Oh yeah man. And i think i think that would eat a little crow here because i think you're right. I mean when we were talking about this series and how it was gonna go. I said i thought it could extend out well. I will say the caveat that i added on there was. If chris paul was back it could be six. Maybe even five that. I think i overestimated. La's offensive dynamism really am by that. I just mean being out there or whatever for whatever reason their lack of creation it seemed like they have guys that can hit shots. We know that it seemed it. Just seemed like they word. They've always been a step behind phoenix execution wise in terms of generating manufacturing that consistent dependable offense. I three bullet points for this game. Three things that i think are like the big. I think the game was one in the second quarter. In the middle of the second quarter for phoenix. I feel like this stretch. White gave them a little a little pad deondraye eight and was absolutely phenomenal in the second quarter defensively of this game i kept yo altered everything kyle literally everything i mean i started it i i would be interested to go back in charge to see if he literally did but he it was it was phenomenal. What he didn't block he bothered. Yeah it was really really impressive. Performance i it. It was really a culmination. I felt of all the work. He's put it over his three years in the nba to improve his habits and improve his ability to read the floor. It all came together for him. Throw these playoffs but especially in that game for. I thought it was an extraordinary defensive performance. He looked like an all star. Big man he looked like an all. Nba big man was absolutely sensational at the very least all defensive i mean at least exactly yeah and and i got there. Were a couple times where you know the clippers were trying to run pick and roll and eight and gets a lot of credit obviously we. We've talked a lot about how good bridges has been We kind of expected him to be good defensively. I feel like a lot of people were paying attention. Did at least but he got me thinking. I mean. they're on the track to be like the best young defensive duo in the league. If they keep this up i mean i was thinking i was looking across the landscape and it was like you know paul george have been considered you know And then you have jimmy and bam jrue and john s. I think you can probably throw in there too. And then simmons and bead. I know that's not a be breaking up there. Yeah yeah what do you think about that. Where do you think that they kind of. What do you think are ceiling is in terms of like long term as a defensive duo do you think they chance to become one of the best or or the best. Certainly i mean with the andrei. We're seeing what he can be when he's locked in every single night in the postseason credit for him for focusing in staying in maintaining his energy levels. I mean. in a saturday night's game he played forty one minutes and they needed those forty one minutes out of right and then would miquel bridges thirty nine minutes defending multiple positions throughout the entire playoffs. Different types of players. You can stick him on. And i think with bridges think about great defensive players. We often think about man-to-man defense now bothering a guy poking at the ball. Doing what patrick beverley has done this series like patrick. Beverley has had a really good on ball series against devon booker and last last round against donovan mitchell two but michelle bridges positioning its intelligence it's perfect timely rotations It's rebounding. that's a significant part of it too. He had thirteen granted. There are a lot of shots to rebound and that game with the clippers shooting. Five of thirty one from three in the sun shooting. Four of twenty from three not a hot shooting performance from either team but with the bridges andy andrea in the both of those guys in their own respective ways certainly have potential beyond the upper echelon of defensive players at their respective positions..

"Non starters. Everyone had well. None of them had a negative number. One one zero so every backup for walkie net net improve the score and won it was even because it was zero and monks. The starters jaanus this is the only one with the plus number every other starter including brook lopez's minus fourteen points when he was on the floor and middleton minus thirteen point so in atlanta you got trae young in a bunch of others but man you go past the starters at least yesterday you were in big trouble you look at on is. He's got supposedly some good running mates again. Holiday put up. Some point was minus three even though he scored thirty three middleton. Okay but the idea that they were able to go deeper in that bench milwaukee and every time not lose any ground. Jonas that to me makes young more impressive but it makes me skeptical today that he could keep this up if if they're going to get out play so much other than the starters and i also think that there could have been a little bit of a maybe a letdown from milwaukee going into this game. Just how exciting game. Seven was saturday to wednesday. Like i'm. I'm thinking of reasons why milwaukee would fallen apart but this is now three series in a row to where we've seen atlanta when games get late or in the second half or late in the fourth quarter they just look more comfortable at making plays in the right place and hitting shots and anybody else. Does they look more comfortable than philly. They look more comfortable than the knicks and they looked more comfortable last night hitting shots and making plays in. Milwaukee did in all of this on the road. I mean they were down by seven points with about five minutes left in the game atlanta. This was a seesaw game. Thirteen lead changes and bitten. None of the teams had a double digit lead. It none of the points of the game was not a double digit. Leads a tight game back and forth but lo and behold when. The pressure's on trae young delivers another thing. Even though atlanta's backups didn't play so well they played a good bit. Trae young had forty one minutes on the court. Only atlanta hawks with more than thirty seven minutes. But if you look at milwaukee arrested team hadn't played since saturday janas had forty one minutes middleton had almost forty one and holiday had almost forty two so three guys in the forties from walkie again. They had a nice little break but man oh man now one thing you can't do. We're straight outta vegas on fox sports radio. What you can't do is say you see how a milwaukee shot read. They're not going to shoot three like that. Okay you're right. Twenty two percent on three pointers. Atlanta was twenty five percent so neither team shot while from three. So if we're gonna try to excuse it away it's a maker miss league and they would just missing now. I mean to me. It was pretty even in that regard and it is pretty amazing. 'cause a macro concept in the nba. As in big picture league wide has been has the middle. The mid range game returned chris. Paul mid range if feels like there's more mid range in you was last year. Well if you look at atlanta they were sixty two percent onto pointers when shot to joan. Is they hit over sixty percent and again mid range trae young in that float or closing thaws and that was one of the things. They pointed out on the broadcast on. Tnt that it just felt like he could get in the paint he wants. I think it was kenny. Smith who said look at the bottom of issues. That's probably green at this point because of all the time he spent in the paint trae young was not good from three last night he was four thirteen. So it's not like he was doing. What steph curry does. He was penetrating getting to where he wanted to get and getting that shot in the lane and he had about the same shooting. Woes in game. Seven against philli. So imagine that game seven against philli. You're on the road. You shoot lake crap and your team still wins in your kind of a one man team. How does that happen. Maybe he's not a one man team. I just am looking at the box. Can't figure it out. But then you go to milwaukee who supposedly unlock their greatness off that win against brooklyn and you shoe poorly again and you went on the road again. There's something he's doing. That isn't as obvious as it is with other people how he's helping his team win like this one last thought. I dug into the numbers because my thought was mandate. Do better in the second half because remember we remember philadelphia second half they were striking against the atlanta. I looked at the entire season and in the first half first half now atlanta's outscored their opponents by about half a point in the second half by about two points so over the course of the season they outscored their opponents by about two and a half point but only half of that one half of a point was in the first half and about two points in the second so they were a second half team in the play offs. It's more about the first quarter atlanta's been outscored by over a point in the first quarter and then they've outscored the teams by about two and a half points from the second quarter on so something we may look at if we're looking to fade. Atlanta in a game is maybe looked to play against him in the first quarter because this year and in the playoffs the early parts of the game not as good for atlanta. "The seven seed los angeles lakers just got eliminated by the two seed. Phoenix suns the lakers. Were down thirty in the deciding game. Six on this night They did cut their deficit to ten but came up short of a miraculous comeback. Anthony davis the lakers second best player in arguably a top five player in the nba. He gave it a go but could only play an ineffective. Five minutes due to injury. Kyle kuzma his replacement scored two points on one of six shooting in the lakers. Best player thirty six year old. Lebron james coming off a serious injury himself was only able to log forty one minutes on this night. that's right. The man was played the most playoff minutes in the history of the league by a ridiculously wide margin who just want his fourth championship and his fourth finals. Mvp less than eight months ago only played forty one minutes on this night coming off an injury that kept him out for weeks in the final game of his eighteenth season shameful pathetic la- fraud etc. My twitter timeline. Many folks from chicago. Now that i think about it really enjoyed this epic failure by lebron in rightfully so only forty one minutes played out of forty eight possible l. o. l. In what did he do in those forty one minutes anyways. Twenty nine points. Nine rebounds seven assists two assists and two blocks. What a joke. What a fraud. Not only was my twitter timeline. Hyped by lebron's epic failure but everyone around me the video poker bar facing venetian sportsbook seemed to be elated by as well. I don't ever wanna hear him. Compared to m j again. I heard that a lot i looked up. Mj's stats from his eighteenth season in the nba but confined anything so agreed. It's really hard to compare this epic failure by lebron on this night to what jordan did at this stage of his nba career. No data to look at to compare it to so yeah agreed. Let me take the civilised coffee and then tell you about the poker session. I played right after this my tenth win in a row.

"Part of his game from that linebacker position you have justice not have barron browning those are guys that may still need a full year. In order to to get used to the nfl get used to vic fangio systems. Akeem could be a guy that could come in and play pretty much right away. Now it'd be a very limited role on defense like you said brady. I think this is a guy that all of us are going to be cheering for because of his awesome story now. He's not part of the broncos yet he's going to have to make the team during mandatory minicamp right now. He's a trial player. But i think after this weekend or the this week's mandatory minicamp he will be on the broncos roster now i love leaving it with kind of a positive story. There will be rooting for that guy for sure. Zac appreciate what do you. What do you cracking on that. We can check out in the next couple of days. Hey mandatory minicamp. What's going on. Yeah do you think. Rogers is gonna go. Oh well that's nice of him to say okay. Let's just be done with this stupid thing i've complicated. Let's let's go from there. They're not gonna let him sit. They're not gonna get anything for him. They're going to let them set. So suddenly all the quarterbacks we've been talking about no way no way these guys. Just get ready. I loved that that's basketball back in the days. Julius randle who they gave you a ceremony when you won your award first game in the playoffs everybody was out there. Saluting you in you play life trash cine. He had no confidence. He's throwing a ball in stands he's getting dunked on. I want you out to new york. That got an head you you you had the veteran. Derrick rose what was you had the veteran derrick rose discount a cynic derrick. Rose is a two thousand years old. He won the mvp back in the day. Derrick rose was one of the nicest basketball players who played in this era. But he's washed up in a sense because he's thirty two years old he's playing a point guard. It's very difficult as young. These guys are nineteen twenty years old. He was the chew. Mvp he played basketball. He wasn't scared. He executed his shot. He knew exactly what he was doing on the floor and julius randle chilliest randolph. That's his name julius. Julius randle random jews rando came showed us nothing. Delana hawks. beat the guy's name is trey young. Trae young elder bart alannah beach. You one zero three eight thousand nine hundred eighty one hundred three eighty nine in your own building madison square garden that alone just the courage alone. He should have won that game. I am disgusted with the new york knicks. right now. Been a nick. Fan since nineteen seventy four. You know this and we're going to get to the news trae young i salute you. You play some basketball brother city. He played forty one minutes. It's forty eight minutes to the game. He sat down for seven minutes and every time he sat down the knicks. Maybe had an opportunity to kind of get back into the game. The moment he he was playing like hound. China's thing visit was the music in the background in this young man of six feet. Toss sweat it out. The skyway about ninety eight pounds was driving to the basket shooting threes. Like i said. I call him a generic steph curry. He played forty one minutes. Cj he had nine assists assists basketball. That's when they pass the ball and then you make the shot. Yeah that's when the player got past the and you made the shot. The guy who passes the ball gets the credit for you making the shot that's causing assists. It's stupid non. Sounds like you can't take it to the whole bro. But but i guess that's being a team player because if you can't you need to pack so that's got scored thirty six points and the knicks. You look you look pathetic flu. You looked horrible. And i sat there. Cynthia was all hyped. Up about this game and go nex and and you're excited they you know you have to. You have to enjoy the highs and the lows of your team. I know and that's what because that's what made this ride so great right. That's why i'm criticizing them now. I'm a true fan. When they play they play bad. "Amazing defense and a quarterback that just throws thirty interceptions. You eliminate that you're good. Drew lock was actually statistically better. As far as you know just touchdown interception ratio then watson watson. No jameis winston with winston watts watson. They sound similar. The welcomed says also predicted them to be eleven and five something inside. You knows they are. I said they'd have that combination of games of wins losses. That's what i said. They'd have a combination of maybe eleven wins. Maybe you'll have losses our. I'm feeling i'm seeing eleven five. That's what i was seeing five and eleven. I whatever however you want to say that what. I saw this team was. I thought that offensively they were going to be better. I didn't think i thought jerry jeudy okay. That high of a draft pick was going to be better. And honestly i thought vic fangio is going to be a better coach and honestly again on the schedule. I didn't think tennessee was going to be that good. I didn't think was they beat miami right. I didn't think some of these teams. We're going to be that good this year and that proved to be wrong. I thought their scheduled kind of lent it self to denver winning some games. I don't think the titans are going to be that good. I didn't think they lost the falcons. I thought they beat falcons. I thought they beat the raiders. I thought they'd beat the chargers both times. And i thought they'd be the raiders both times so again the schedule was going to be easier than i thought. The offense will be good enough but it just didn't work out that way. All right forty one minutes after the hour. We were well overdue here. So i'm trying to come out of my shell these days yes so to that To that point a on our last. Podcast i just want to get that out our first guest so often What we have definitely realized and understood is that yeah when when things start when everybody else is sort of like contracting and i remember this during the great recession you may remember that. I don't remember what part of you know you tell me your financial advisory space at that time in two thousand eight two thousand nine during the great recession but i remember very very well in fact because we consider ourselves in the stay rich business my space more so than the get rich business. That was a great wonderful time for us. Because everybody's fleeing going to safety So balanced portfolio right managing the risk and reward and a a proper allocation really comes into play but during that time everybody really starting contract in and even myself. I'm like. I don't know what's going to happen. You know it's the it's the unknown. I never gone through that before. I mean you go all the way back to the great crash and twenty nine. Everybody remembers that. But when i started doing more research and we're in also the knowledge for profit business a lot of people in twenty nine thirty thirty all the way through basically or two whenever that really got us out of the great depression ultimately That's when people got rich. People got rich because they saw it as an opportunity. It's it is..

"Because i'm pretty sure that when i signed up for mine craft dungeons and i would have used guest the mine. My windows live account. I don't remember. I don't know how this goes. I have one windows idea. I narrowed it down to one. I use the same password. I just signed into my xbox recently because i'm looking to get a new one with the series x coming out and i wanted to make sure that my account was still active and stuff and so it was the right email and password because i had to guess at at at the console and the only thing. I'm concerned about as i think my handle on Xbox is one thing but on dungeons. It's another but i don't know if that's just dungeon specific or if that's my windows live account. Yeah i'm not sure. I'd have to go back and check. Yeah but i mean. I only i only use the one email like i have one main email for most of that kind of stuff. I have multiple emails. But they're usually tied to podcast. So i i really only have the one jamila counties for a lot of things and it. It helps it stick. It helps from helps me to not have the problem that you might be having having ideas tied at different email addresses. Yeah when i. When i created my minecraft account initially picks as an identity didn't really exist so i didn't have an email address it up for So so a few things have changed around ever since but Yeah i feel like it was worth pointing out. Because i i logged into the minecraft launch the other day The reason i was doing that in the first place. Even though there's there's not really a great deal going on in dungeons right now is the a thought As i mentioned last week Awesome games done. Quick happened this speed running. Marathon event and me for sa did a minecraft dungeon speed run. That took forty one minutes and thirty two seconds to complete the main game in its entirety or rather to complete it and see like the end credits and cut seen They didn't play all of the stages. Because you only need to play a certain number of stages to progress But the and the category was basically any percent like complete game Boy the shortest route possible really cool to watch though i leading to that in the show notes a youtube volatile of it now as you can go back and watch that really really interesting run. And it's amazing how much they both exploited about some of the level geometry to get a foster route through a level and the some different combinations of stuff that i wouldn't necessarily have considered the fastest thing but once they know how to use certain weapons and stuff like that it..

From Active Duty to the Red Carpet: How Hollywood Helped This Veteran Understand Civilian Life

"Welcome everybody today on mission daily. We have Jennifer Marshall. She is a navy veteran and she's now an actress host in all forms of entertainment. She's going to fill in today about what it was like coming out of the military, and then also getting into Hollywood, we're GONNA also find out a little bit about what she has in store for the future Jennifer welcome to mission daily. Thank you so much for having me this husband a work in progress for months now. Well I'll tell you what booking is always crazy I'm sure your schedule's busy schedule gets rearranged all the time to from people cancelling and demanding reschedules, and then we have paid sponsors. It's not always easy. Yeah, gets a little crazy well. Thanks for doing the show and thanks for Karnal period of time for us. Thank you so much for having me. So where are you today right now? So I'm in Los, Angeles today is a very rare day off. So I'm actually in my robe in my bed with my cat, so it's a good day. So, we always like to talk about what you're doing today a little bit how you got here and then what's going on future? So, what are you working on now at I? Don't know if you can even disclosed, but hopefully you can. Oh, Gosh, so unfortunately I can't as actors. Were you know anyone in front of the camera or behind the camera and entertainment? We most of the time we. We signed nondisclosure agreements, and that's just because you know different studios compete. They don't want people knowing who's on their project so I am working on something. Really Great I'm working on projects today I have the day off and so I've got some downtime, and I'm enjoying the downtime. Because once we ramp up and we start shooting. It's going to be a couple. Months of you know relentless. Twelve to sixteen hour days, onset, six or seven days in a row, so I'm definitely enjoying this downtime for the rest of January okay so I want to dive into. Let's dive into that right away. You're famously known as being a navy vet, so the military is generally regarded as a very difficult. Demanding job in there is I would say a notion or this idea. It's probably false and I think it's false. Bad Actors and actresses have. Have it quite easy yet. You just talked about twelve to sixteen hour days six to seven days a week. Tell me what is harder. Is the military or doing your role today? You know it depends because when I was on deployment in the military. That is very difficult. I would say that most of the sites that I go on I am either co-starring, which is just a few lions or one scene on a show that can be. Pretty easy because you're in your trailer most of the day you're relaxing. You're waiting in year. Prepare for when they need you. If your guest starring a little more crazy because you're in several scenes, or you're in one very long seen, that can be quite difficult with the show that I'm hosting right now. Mysteries Dakota very difficult to shoot because I'm in every scene. It's my show. I'm hosting it and so. So there is no downtime I don't have a trailer. Basically just go in the car if I need to relax for a few minutes, but I'm interviewing all the witnesses I'm interviewing all of the experts and so occasionally my co-host will interview somebody, but it is. It's very taxing. It's twelve sixteen hours on set and There's not a lot of downtime so I would say that that in comparison to deployments both. Both are difficult in their own way. And you know being on deployment was definitely more physically difficult, but when you are in front of a camera, and you're hosting a show you have to be on. You have to be intelligent. You have to know what you're talking about. You have to be quick witted. You have to be able to pivot very quickly, and you have to be adaptable, so I find deployment to. To be physically taxing, but I find hosting the show to be very intellectually demanding and I'm drained by the end of the day for sure now I got a quick question for so you're talking about twelve to sixteen hour days. You're talking about six to seven days a week, but a very small percentage of what you do. All the work that you do actually ends up in the final product is that? Is that disheartening hurt that is that just something you've got become used to know? Thank you so much for bringing that up. Because it's people don't understand like especially with my show, they'll say well. You didn't bring up this theory or that theory or this theory and I always tell them. There are so many theories that we look at, but you know when we shoot hours and hours and hours of footage, you know we only have forty one minutes in the show and they're so much. That does not get shown, so there's so many different theories that we do. But it just doesn't make it into the show so additionally. There was a show that I was in probably two years ago called timeless on NBC and shot on that show for five days. Will it turns out that one of the scenes I was in? They completely cuts, and it was a lot of us that were in the scene, and then another scene that I was in. They cut my lines and it didn't have anything to do. Do with performance on. It just had to do with how the scene was set up and that it wasn't really conducive to kind of go into the trench where we were and get the lines because of the hectic nature of the scene, so I shot for five days, and it doesn't look like shot for five days in the final cut so when you're watching whatever you're watching. If you have an actor host in your life, be kind. Kind. Because sometimes it's difficult. You know you give a few days or a few weeks of your life to something, and sometimes it just doesn't show that in the final cut.

Liverpool Sweeps Arsenal Aside

"Alongside melissa ready backing wear really and truly seems to be your second home here at anfield another commanding display from liverpool here in this one is absolutely thrashed arsenal. I mean it was only three one gets on the scoresheet but really and truly that performance was so commanding for the reds and i know that there are lots of questions surrounding liverpool especially after the match against southampton last weekend so male. Just let me know have liverpool answer those questions and put them to rest. I think they did quite emphatically. It was superior performance against arsenal in sort of i've every respect and what i took away from this game as i did from the community shield and really everything i've seen so far in the season is that manchester city and liverpool <hes> the benchmark. It's those two and then there's the rest to clear two-horse race for yeah. <hes> awesome tried something something different today. They actually came with confidence. <hes> a tactical plan that yorgen cup admitted he didn't expect he hadn't seen awesome execute before all where they played a very narrow field and allowed lovable wide and back themselves to deal with all the crosses and it worked for forty minutes now. Why i i say liverpool was superior in every respect is one of the things the side is able to problem solve and once they problem mm soul they have the ability to then pick you apart so joel map scores ahead of from alexander ronald's kona on forty one minutes and in the second talk before arsenal can even have any sort of chance to come back into the game. They're killed off. Quick quick muhammed saw david david lewis and that was it louise. Oh my goodness. We're definitely going to talk about him there because i know lots of arsenal supporters were quite surprised or quite happy actually when they did manage to get him him there on that one but again just talking about pool of course. I know that a lot of people said that southampton just last week. I'm bringing back up this game again if they probably had someone a little more superior could finish the they definitely would have had liverpool there because again. The defense seems to be a bit of a frailty for liverpool. How did you see today even though arsenal of course we know didn't threaten it as much as many would have expected. Probably liverpool's defense has been different. The season the team as a whole have been more open. They've allowed <hes> a lot more shots against them that than is typical for a liberal side obviously their title challenge and their european success last season was built on a strong defensive platform well <hes> part of that is because they are playing a slightly higher line. It's also because it's not just natural. It's the start thought of the season you have to sort of get into that routine and rhythm again. A lot of the players went away over the summer and paid with their national teams who you know us completely different tactics dick's different styles of mocking <hes> and so it's natural for the place to relearn liverpool system. I think the southampton game was obviously the context of little tired from having played in istanbul heats late-game flying back so yeah. I mean quickly quickly before we wrap up now. Let's just spare thought forest on because we have to of course all the labs on the show on e._s._p._n. A._f._c. if you've been watching as you should be watching basically said that this match would be a good benchmark for arsenal to see exactly where they stand in this premier league racist season if you want to put it so after what you just saw now. What are they thinking. Where do you see <hes>. I actually feel a little bit. Sorry for arsenal because like i said they they arrived with a plan that was effective for a large parts. They did create chances says that fell to a boomerang and nicholas pepper who impressed somewhat on his debut but most of what they created actually came from liverpool's eras ariza they didn't there wasn't good bold plan stuff from arsenal just lacking the right personnel the quality. I think it's very difficult to come to add field and play against this liverpool side.

But if your heart is leaping at the idea of gifting the set say to your favorite snack, food, fishy and auto alas, you're out of luck. Pringles put the fourteen dollar ninety nine gift box of chips online, November sixth and they sold out in forty one minutes the release was intended to be exclusive but a bit less exclusive than last year in two thousand seventeen the company produced a limited run of the tongue in cheek. Or should we say chip in cheek gift sets for food editors and other influencers that set also included ships, like green bean casserole, creamed corn and cranberry sauce for the record, food and wine writer. Mike Pomeranz one of last year's recipients called the green bean ships. Great and the creamed corn not so great Pringles flavors may sound goofy. But the company strategy is clearly working, and it's not alone. Chipmakers have been flirting with thanksgiving census far back his two thousand two when laze so Turkey flavored ships in China. The Brilliance of Amazon's Homecoming Series

"All right. We are back. We're talking about homecoming season one. I mean, I don't even know if there's going to be a season two, but with homecoming new show in Amazon it's directed by front of the pods. Same as mail. It's a based on a podcast from allied Horowitz. And Michael Bloomberg that was Gimblett couple years ago. And the the podcast major parts were played by Catherine keener, voiced by Catherine keener, Oscar Isaac and David trimmer in the Amazon television show version of it. We have a show starring Julia Roberts, which I never thought if you told me ten years ago that Julia Roberts will be on an Amazon show. Just really confused two thousand eight me. Julia Roberts, Bobby volley. Hey, chris. Yeah. I've got a couple of other. Chris would really yeah. Yeah. I know we can get say that for for next next episode way to tell him podcast go. Yeah. So we have a home. Julia roberts. Stephen, James, Bobby, volley and shea Wiggham among others. And it's ten episode show ended I talked a little bit about it as a preview last week. So we're just gonna talk about the first five episodes today in the second five the the back half of the show on Thursday. So there will be spoilers. Yes. There will. Episode boilers mandatory, pineapple optics Redwood, and helping the episodes we're talking about and everyone here are the usual caveats. You should know that I'm recording this from s milk work right now. Yes, we're all the people Chris mentioned except for Julia Roberts J William or ended office right now having a meeting I think about season two. I am clearly an untrustworthy voice. But I do think it's noteworthy television show. And I am eager to talk about it. But understand you take all take the bucks, kosher salt. You have in your kitchen and just pour it all over whatever device used to listen to this podcast on. Yeah. Well, we so I feel like we just talked a lot about sort of the extra curricular things around television show with Walking Dead without actually talking about Walking Dead. So I wanna start rather than talking about the impact this show has had or what it means within the Amazon ecosystem or whatever logistic about the show itself. How's that rate? You you you leave me there? Okay. Again, not trying to blow smoke up SAM's ask. But I am really in all of what he pulled off here. Because forget I actually didn't listen to the podcast. So I can't even speak to what it must be like to adapt. What is essentially this? This long form audio story for TV. I can't I can't evaluate what I think he's done here. And we talked a little bit about. The effectiveness of the half hour thriller drama, and how that gave us kind of like remixed are brainwaves a little bit. It kinda kinda got wires crossed in a way that was really exciting. Because you're basically, I think when you're watching television show that takes at least an hour, and you know, it's drama, you kind of your your mind knows that there are going to be these peaks and valleys these lulls, you know, how they're setting things up around the three five x structure, you kind of have a feeling for how you're watching these shows if you're watching Ozark if you're watching hunting and Phil house, if you're watching a sharp objects there is of no matter how different these shows are there's a vibe to them. And there is a a tempo that comes along with an hour long show by compressing the drama and tension into anywhere from twenty seven to thirty one to forty one minutes. Sam's kind of manipulating your reactions. To the story. And the story itself is not I don't find it to be that complicated. It's not that Abrahams e it's not that mystery box. Obviously, there's a lot of central mysteries. But what I think he's done here is taking seventies paranoia cinema. Which is something that a lot of people like to reference, I think famously Andy always joked about how the Rousseau's talked about the influence of like all the president's men in parallel view on winter soldier. And we joked about that..
