"Everyone talked about it for a week and then nobody really talked about again. This is the only move. In my opinion that guarantees a good team to become great. And i think they are the team now to go to the nfc championship game. They'll meet the tended here years probably in tampa bay. I gave you all these matthew. Stafford statistics now. Let me tell you the la rams defensive statistics last year yes. They their defensive coordinator and they're stood us Secondary member john johnson. The third safety one of the better ones in the league. Probably the most underrated safety so yes. They did lose some pieces. Keep that in mind. But last year and a cova year they were the number one defense in the yard against and the number one defense points against translation that the best events in football they gave green bay fits despite jared goff having to sort of a neil's or whatever plates in his thumb and couldn't really throw and they gave them a hell of an opportunity to win that game and of course they beat seattle and seattle as well. This defense is incredible as the best defense stafford is played for. It's not close. It's the best coach. Stafford has played for. And it's not close it's the best roster stafford's played with it's not close. It's the best general manager and ownership group. Stafford is played with and it's not close not to mention. He's back home in california where he wants to be sunny weather brand new stadium new fans everything like that new uniforms going back to last year and again you have a guy who's been giving you forty five thousand yards now. Here's the question with matt stafford. It comes out of the season for him. This is a make or break year from stafford. Screw it isn't that going. The only reason los angeles they don't trade for matt stafford. He's not gonna retire at thirty five. My guess is he plays three four years here in los angeles for the la. But it's all on him this year. He has the talent. Obviously we shall mcveigh's atop head coach in the league. I just gave you the statistics. We know the la rams defense is gonna be legit year in year out. They have a good enough offensive line. They just added the sean jackson. They still have robert woods. Cooper kupp great offense of weapons taylor a tight end cam. Akers at running back. Were bona fide star. They'll probably address the offensive weapons in the draft like they've been doing the past couple of years finding guys in the second third round major major contributions guys like cam. Akers guys like josh reynolds. Who's obviously signed different team. Even van jefferson wasn't a first round pick last year. He looks like a pretty good player. So the rams are gonna draft well to matt. Stafford has everything it's time deliver. It's time to get those winds. And i think he will again if matt stafford. Here's the key staff from me. Why believe matt stafford is going to be in the conversation this year and they are the only team the nfc that can really rival tampa. Bay buccaneers thirty one comebacks in those thirty eight game. Winning drives sure. Matthew stafford has a career record seventy four ninety one. You would say. He's not a proven winner. But those thirty game winning drives and comebacks or second the legal twenty years. Only tom brady. And in my opinion it just shows you when you have thirty one and thirty game winning drives and seventy four wins right so you have thirty game winning drives. You've won a game on a game. Winning drive thirty eight times almost over half of matt stafford's career wins and the nfl. Seventy four have been from game. Winning drives that just shows us been incompetence run by bad teammates that ownership bad coaches battle whatever and just jumped all across the board. Which is why. I believe that. When he gets to los angeles like he has now the season really gets underway again. It's gonna take some time to adjust to those new weapons. Those new receivers new coaches and everything like that matt stafford going to fly a reason. Another reason for that is the play action game. Stafford's never had run game in his career. The rams love to run the football. Just like kyle shanahan sean. Mcvay wizard at finding zone schemes. For their running next to look good no matter who it is they make anybody look good again. Cam akers looks like a star in the making any great playoffs. Game against new england on that thursday night game of course as well so the plate mets effort has never been able to really use the play action to its fullest ability. We see what a quarterbacks best friend in my opinion that's a play action game. We see how good jimmy garoppolo looks the play action. We saw how jared goff looked in the play action. Tom brady has been making a living less. Twenty years off a dominating in the play action. He's the best play action quarterback of all time. And it's not close now. These has never been able to have a play action game. 'cause he's never gonna run. Games never had an offensive line. That's gonna come with los angeles election. Run the football. They like to play defense. The play action games point to explode for los angeles. And i think that's gonna throw for the most touchdowns he's ever turn his career my personal prediction. He's on forty three touchdowns this year. While keeping the interceptions a tenor under. I think we're gonna get a combination of old matt stafford on that. I not old messed everybody. Young matt staffer back in the day. About two thousand eleven when he was twenty three. Had calvin johnson had all these weapons will sling it all over the place. Five thousand yards forty one touchdowns but he was turnover prone to sixteen interceptions. I don't think we're gonna get that stafford now. The last what has been about five to six seasons has had eleven. I mean eleven interceptions in two thousand eighteen but really had single digit or less are double tenor less interception. Since two thousand fifteen. Which i think if you combine that with some twenty eleven matt stafford with five thousand yards forty plus touchdowns because he's had the weapons he's got. The coach has got the system around him. Matt san francisco look like an mvp candidate. What if i gave you a stanley right. Now that matthew stafford goes twelve and four slash eleven and five with the la rams through for over five thousand yards to forty three touchdowns and ten that is essentially. What aaron rodgers did this year he would win. Mvp i'm not going to be surprised if that happens for staffer at this point. I'm almost expecting it again. Thirty one comebacks. Thirty eight game winning drives. It just shows you man. He's had nothing around him. For what since two thousand nine said nothing around him for the better part of the last twelve years. He finally gets a coach system city. Everything is going right for matthew stafford right now in los angeles. He's got to take this team to the next level. I think he will. My opinion is the only move that was made this year in the nfl offseason. That made a good team great. We're gonna take another short break here. But on the other side of this short break we'll get the green bay packers and why i think aaron rodgers continues to hold them hostage and why they will never reach the hump of the championship. I'll take into that as well as the other moves that i think could make a good team. Greatest carson wentz they also resigned houghton. Ken carson wentz be fixed. He's got a new number. What would it mean for the colts. If they were to be fixing sort of do the same thing with the rams to the colts all that good stuff coming up right after this short break. Check out the show. "Thank you so much for tuning into today's episode into continuing to listen to the show. If you are returning listener we really do appreciate you. I finished giving you my reasons. Why i believe the tampa. Bay buccaneers should be favored. A going into this next. Nfl season as the overwhelming favorites. Again i look at a lot of other teams. And i see teams with holes and i don't see tampa bay's ross or having a significant old again maybe a little bit on the interior offensive line but again they slept on the best centers in the league. Tristan works. looks like a superstar tackle again. You could argue that they can maybe use some younger legs on the defensive line but still there's not a major or major on this team that you can explain there's no there's nothing you can do as an opponent of the tampa bay buccaneers in scheme around because we're going to attack their weakness. There isn't any major weakness as there are teams like the browns and their secondary and green bay. What their defense and run defense as well. So there's there's different teams have different issues and holes. I think tampa bay has zero holes or at least the least at at any team in the league. Right now i want to transition now to two teams that are primed to challenge tampa bay into a potential super bowl window. And that's green bay and the rams and i wanna to start off here with the los angeles rams and specifically matt stafford so This week staffer. Trade was officially announced during free agency week. of course. The new league year started. So jared goff on over to detroit including two first round picks coming back as of course matthew stafford and again i mentioned in my last segment. There is one move. I think made a. There's two moves in the nfl. And i've been made this year one of the move. That's guaranteed in my opinion. Make a good team a great team. That's staffer trading for the rams and the other movie that i think has the potential good team great team is the carson wentz move. And i'll talk about that later on the show but to start off with the rams and the packers later on this segment i think the rams have the best chance to dethrone the tampa bay buccaneers in the nfc when you take a look at stafford throughout his entire career of course. He's only played in three playoff games. However when you look at his career pretty much each and every year he's going to give you at least four thousand three hundred yards. He's going to give you at least twenty to twenty five touchdowns and he's going to give you ten interceptions or less. That's quite literally how his career has gone from pretty much. What is it two thousand and sixteen to two thousand and twenty now. What are we going to get from. Stafford with the los angeles rams. This is already the best team that matt stafford has ever played for. This is already going to be the team. That wins the most amount of games. That matt stafford has ever played for. They went eleven games. What the detroit. Lions one twenty four teams. Let's take a look at matt stafford's to best years with the detroit lions franchise that has been in the dumps essentially since its existence since barry sanders left hasn't been able to put down a competent roster amounts around matt stafford except for really two seasons. They looked like they had a decent roster in two thousand eleven decent roster twenty fourteen maybe twenty sixteen twenty seventeen hundred. Jim caldwell they had some guys really ever since calvin johnson retired. It's just been a complete lack of everything for the detroit lions. Let's take a look. A two thousand and eleven matt stafford at this point is ten years ago. Twenty three years old lines ten and six that year matt. Seven is sixty four percent. Completion percentage five thousand yards forty one touchdowns sixteen interceptions Senate percentage in two point percent longest touchdown was obviously seventy three yards. Everything like that. Fantastic matthew stafford in two thousand eleven. That's when he really looked like the real deal now. His next best year was probably twenty fourteen. Tens of winning success wise. That was his best year. Winning wisely went. Eleven and five stafford again. Four thousand three hundred yards twenty two touchdowns twelve interceptions so different year. Statistically but more wins sixty percent completion percentage. I think that this year at age thirty three matthew stafford is going to have the best year of his career. I think there's going to be a point in the. Nfl season next year where he is in the most valuable player discussions. Because you have to remember. Matthew stafford does not have the resume of a hall of famer wins wise. He has everything statistically in his career. He's thrown for what over forty five thousand yards already. Two hundred eighty two touchdowns and just one hundred and forty four interceptions Career record of seventy four and ninety. So that's the thing. And he's played in three playoff games. Zero wins has thirty one comebacks. Thirty eight game winning drive so again. He has the ability to come back from high. Maybe more than any other quarterback in this league not named tom brady so when you pair matthew stafford who again is statistically this good again already with a forty five thousand yards. Two hundred and eighty two touchdowns completion percentage of a career of sixty four percent again. Absolute stud statistically everywhere across the board has thirty eight game winning drives thirty one comebacks in the fourth quarter or time so again you see this you think. Wow this guy was who the best guy in the market. No they gave up two first round. Picks and gerry goffin again. He wasn't arguing. The best quarterback available shawn watson though is going through a ton of stuff off the field that needs to be taken seriously is still considered the quote unquote best quarterback available if he's even available there's been russell wilson's speculation of course as well. Matthew stafford was sort of in the background. He made this trade happened..

"Big time weapons but he's still put the ball out there for them to go get and tyreek hill. Tribes kelsey both had a couple of drops at or uncharacteristic as for. What's going on with the broncos quarterback situation. I said to big. Alan joe joe on monday when i talked to him. I don't know if the broncos are being the door down for matthew stafford. I get that there's reports out there. That detroit's already fielding calls. I don't know if denver's one of the first teams making that call. we know. Aaron rodgers isn't going anywhere. I had been saying that for the last thirty six hours. And then he mountain all but said it on the patent if you show on his weekly appearance. They're talking talking to pat that he's planning on going anywhere. I think he's emotional. After the game he says is not completely up to him. But you heard mettler say yeah. Aaron rodgers will be back. I sure hope he's back. They're not moving on from aaron rodgers now when he wins the mvp said make any sense evenly drafted jordan. Love in the first. You'll continue to hold onto him as an asset that you developed and either he takes over for rogers in a couple of years or you trade him. But there's no need to start jordan love right away. He wouldn't even dressing this year's the backup use the number three qb. So at least the shawn watson and matthew stafford is the two most viable veteran quarterback options. And i don't think the shawn watson is going into while continue to say that until i'm proven otherwise it was funny though to see marlon humphrey bobbi humphrey son. Who of course is a pro bowl. Cornerback for the ravens. Been a pro bowl cornerback. He's a high speed cornerback. In football i believe. And somebody put together pictures of desha and Jets steelers broncos and maybe washington jerseys and marlon humphrey chose to comment and said denver would be so smooth that would take him of course out of his division if he was going to go to pittsburgh but Guy who grew up a broncos fan. Even they grew up. I think in alabama bobbi humphrey's kitto and he's clearly wanting the well with like to see john watson. Bronco think shawn watson is worth mortgaging a good chunk of the futures a few first rounders for and maybe player. I don't know matthew stafford is i. i don't know if he is. I know those a great ball and he's put up a lot of yards. Forty five thousand yards. But i don't know if he's a winner. I know it's not all his fault at times. I just don't think you give up a lot and it changes your cap. It doesn't destroy but he's also looking for a new contract and that will affect your cap so you have to ask yourself. Do you want matt stafford. And maybe not. Von miller shelby harris back. I'm not saying that's exactly how it will play out. But that certainly could so. I don't think that the broncos are are banging the door for matt stafford right now but of course we'll keep track of of all of.

"Played and at that position. That's a great advantage for you. Should they have one more absolutely. Should they one. Maybe a few more big games absolutely should they have been a super bowl team. Yes they should have been on. How many quarterbacks have made the hall of fame without making it to a super bowl was what phil rivers would be. If he makes a hall of fame. I did a quick. there's basically two. I think there's only two dan fouts. Warren moon never played in super bowl. Game lead their team to a civil. Yes i mean. It's almost impossible to especially in this era to make the hall of fame without a warren moon was in the nfl. Any one whatever five or six cfl titles and then he got into the nfl later in his career. Dan fouts know if he threw for forty five thousand yards and they played the bengals in the afc title game and they lost that game in cincinnati but there was just a there was such a splash attached to the then san diego chargers with those great wide receiver. They just had a great offense there but they were not able to win a big game. Yep warren moon made nine pro bowls all after the age of thirty one. I know crazy and how many how many grey cups did he win. Five five five. And and i remember watching him at washington when he was in college and i thought he's in the rose bowl and spectacular and then for some reason he couldn't pat. I don't unless he was labeled a more of a running quarterback than a passing quarterback but he had the maybe the prettiest deep i've ever seen. He was a great passer but a completely different arab. Certainly at that position in who they were allowing to play quarterback. We'll get phone calls coming up. It'd be great to touch base reconnect with chris. Berman join us coming up here momentarily. "Neighborhood of eight hundred thousand dollars. That's a lock to me. I think it's a very strong possibility. That alex smith is off the roster and a very pretty much a lock. That kyle allen is on it. Let's not forget they like kyle. Alan you the coach. Ron rivera was asked at the end of the year. Would they be in the same position with kyle. And as they are with alex smith and he said yes they liked kyle. Alan the traded a fifth rounder for kyle allen and he's going to cost them nothing to have on the roster next year a by the way. I have heard that the dislocated ankle. A rehab is not as easy as everybody thinks it is and there is some question as to whether or not he will be ready when they start to work in the spring and even the summer But he's going to be on this roster. In my opinion the taylor heineke situation is is a little bit more complicated. So he was not on the active roster for six games which means that he did not get an accrued season. Which means that highness. Heinecke is a restricted free agent. What typically happens with restricted free agents. If you wanna keep them is that you put a tender on them With quarterbacks it's either a first race second round tender a second round tender means at washington's gonna commit to a salary of around three to three and a half million dollars for one season if a team negotiates with him and offers them a deal. Washington has the right of first refusal if they the other team has to give washington a second rounder. A first round tender is the same thing with a higher salary. It's more in the neighborhood of four and a half million dollars for one year for team. Signs of a bigger deal and washington doesn't match it. that team will give up a first rounder. Nobody's gonna give up a first rounder for taylor heineke and a big deal. I don't think anybody's gonna give up a second. Rounder for taylor. Heineke on a much bigger deal. That washington decides not to match There's the right of first refusal tender which means heineke can just go out and look for offers in washington has the right to match it. And if they don't then they pay him like two million for one year. My personal opinion is they want him back and they'll put a second round tender on them in pay three point three million bucks next year. That's my guess. So i've got kyle allen on the roster i've got taylor heineke on the roster for basically four million combined heinecke is going to make a lot more money than kyle and will next year but then i think they are going to go the veteran path and try to trade for like a matt stafford. That would be my preference. I would i would. Trade for matt stafford. I would give up my first rounder for matt. Stafford i think it's going to be a very interesting thing. As to whether or not the new coach in detroit the new management team in detroit wants to continue with matt stafford or whether or not. They'll draft a quarterback Early in the first round. They have the seven th pick in the. I really it is. I think it's the seventh pick in the first round. Something like that. I it's a top ten pick And you know rebuild if they decide to that route if they do they may trade him. I think there would be a market for matt stafford. i talked to somebody. I may have mentioned this to you. The other day that said It's like the alex smith deal. It's a third and kendall fuller. I personally don't believe that. I think it's a second third and a player. Or a. I in a fourth something that i would give that up for matt stafford. I mean to me. He's gonna be thirty three years old. He's a baller. He has been in a bad organization with Bad players for the most part. I think the years with jim caldwell were pretty good With calvin johnson early in his career were pretty good. he's had some phenomenal seasons. The dudes thrown for over forty five thousand yards. He's had eight seasons of throwing for basically forty three hundred yards or more. He had five thousand yard season in two thousand eleven. A forty one touchdown season and twenty eleven last year before he got hurt and missed half the season. He was on his way to like forty touchdowns ten picks and five thousand yards I'm talking about twenty nineteen. I like matt stafford. You know. i've liked matt stafford for a long time. That's my quarterback room. Matt stafford but if i have to give up my first i'm going to do it And then kyle allen and taylor heineke what yours. Well i think the the kyle alan heineke situation would change if they were to bring in a true starting quarterback or a first round pick..

"Versus now. That was ten years ago. So you know you're going to go back a hundred years. Yeah and then you can look at this guy and act like everybody else around was woke. Stay just didn't hit four thousand baseball so you don't know who they are. We'll talk was very progressive with transgendered rights. I heard about that is using pronouns proper pronouns so quicker than there was so much dislike you. can't it's like comparing heiress. You know what. I mean like You know tonight. I was watching. You know the pre game for the patriots rams right and I was sitting there with my mother-in-law. She saw tony gonzalez and she goes football player. He looks really big. He doesn't look like brook said. Yeah he's he's arguably statistically the greatest tight end of all time and i'm thinking in my head was he came around during the right time where it was such an offensively mind taking away from the guy but like it was just like for the longest time the tight end was a glorified offensive linemen. Who was just a blocking end. Essentially and then that position evolved through. You know the raymond berries. The dave casper is all of those guys on the way up to open the door you know and then they figured out that offense sells the game catches the casual fan. So like the statistics. If you crazy to look up the all time passing leaders in football right now if you look at the top twenty like it's like eighteen seventeen. Eighteen of her are still playing right now. Something crazy like that. Or i'm sorry all played within the last twenty years since one thousand nine hundred thirty years. I should say like all of a sudden all of these guys got like just blown by like when i was a kid it was fran. Tarkenton had the most yards all time in like forty seven thousand yards of forty eight thousand yards. And this like guys who are considered mediocre. Had a he had a decent career he wasn't like wasn't one of the greats. He's not making the hall of fame and they'll throw forty forty five thousand yards. And then if you look the other way the running stuff the all time rushers and all of that stuff it. That's where they just runway less. So i mean to try to get like ten thousand yards has become a really difficult thing. So look into the average back. I look at that. I look at that. I'm writing down ideas. I look at that in comedy to you. look at. I think you said this. Actually you know you go back. Twenty years ago twenty years ago the the amount of guys playing theaters was like i twenty. Maybe ten i can't even carlin cosby like legends. Leggings wiggling theater would play but even then a lot of them. Lot of the other bigger guys would just stayed sitting. Vegas do like corporate gigs and stuff like that. Like you had to be like really really big. I remember when Politically incorrect to bill. Maher's first show was on the air. The late Was an early nineties mid nineties when that show first came on he was a big deal that he came to the comedy connection in boston and went cleaned for the weekend. Sold out six shows but now he's doing real time he's a theater act but it. I don't know what it was. I don't know what made that leap. Because i don't think the comedy boom ever got bigger than the eighties until recently flicks netflixing sub. We also can do this shit. Can you imagine if back in the day you could have just watched carlin and pryor shooting the shit on a podcast like how big it would have been. Oh my god how great. I mean it sucks that i know is just me and you. How great would it have been listened to prior and carlin on a lot better than this lot but what they had to do it every week. I bet there will be some weeks. Falloff would be somebody would ask me. I don't know but that's why i'm not. I'm not a big like Like as far as like the little history of football that. I know you know. It's paul brown. In auto graham in lou groza was was what brought the nfl into sort of the premodern error. Modern era where. I mean if you read up on those guys like that. That's who bill belichick is. Bill belichick is the next paul brown. I feel like he changed it. The way paul brown and I mean up until then. They didn't even know that. Like kicking was an offensive linemen. Which is what they had lou the toe broza and they just they didn't take it seriously and lou took it seriously and paul brown took it seriously and then all of a sudden they just started winning all these games and they came in from that other league they thought it was inferior and they were winning all these games so finally broke it down on a piece on paper like wow what. What are these guys doing. And it was like they would chicken field goals and he was accurate. Like from forty five yards out straight on kicker offensive linemen so they would just get three here and three there and these other guys were just be the punt the ball away or going for it. Which by the way do the fucking analytics people have done to football. I watched a game the other day zero zero in the first quarter or maybe the beginning of the second quarter and they go it.

"During yesterday's Introduction Mike McCarthy gave a glimpse into his onfield plan for the cowboys offense this upcoming season I I called back a quote. Great One and said our offensive system will be built around making the quarterback successful but McCarthy also squashed the perception that the ignores is running backs praising Zeke Elliot and saying that the best way to have a successful quarterback is a great run game so Shannon. Who Will Benefit the most under McCarthy Dak or Zeke? I'm going to say that because this offense is very quarterback friendly. Let's just say I'm GonNa say to Lincoln drive. Okay the flavor is GonNa come on a dry right. Which of the cross that's won you gotta tidy incoming across behind him or twelve fourteen a ten to twelve your basic growth best to? That's not their one to check down to the back. You're doing west coast I deal with you McCartney go all right if you look at the last thirty five years. No offense sent more guys to Canton Montano. A A young elway far. Rogers is going to be there. Donovan mcnabb and Jeff Garcia head Berry Berry good career. There were pro bowl. Donovan went to the Fubo. Jeff Garcia had a very good career in San Really Chris so why can't that can be a perennial pro bowl type quarterback that can get a team consistently in the and the playoff. I think Donald is close to forty thousand yard. Forty five thousand yards. Dak Can do that in this offense now. The difference. Is that when you look at what we had. In Denver with Mike in hand we had a dominant back of all. Montana never had a big lake TV. Rogers never had a bag. Td Donovan never had a back like like td so we ran the ball to rail. David re ran the ball a little bit more skip. What helped us early on is that we had John Elway? TD DOC TD with a sixth round draft pick. It's like we gotta worry about Hell. We we were about six draft pick and then all of a sudden fifteen hundred seventeen hundred. Will we better start worried about. But but that's still elway but actually was getting up there in. That was twelve. Okay so now you have to wear the how do we how do we how do we. How do we we stop this it? We sit back and play covers TV for one fifty two hundred yards. If we put the aid got down on the bark elway still can make plays with his arm. Yeah this is what what a great luxury for them to have. Because in the West Coast offense the short passing game was an extension of your running game. That wasn't for us. I run gave was running game and we threw the ball play. We put the ball down the field. So I believe that will benefit skip because the reads are very simple one-two-three the three get the ball out of your hands. Let your guys make plays for you. That's why you have a Jay writes tremendous run after you had a tremendous run after the catch sterling. A guy that could run after the catch give will play. Well I believe Gallup I believe galloped go play the x receiver which is open side. John Taylor I believe Amari Cooper were played the Z.. Jerry Jerry Rice Sterling Sharpe so skip. This offense is very very. If you got guys that can catch and run. I believe they. Do you got a quarterback back Dak Prescott his show every year. He's got a little better a little better. But they got Zeke. Zeke is the closest thing to td in the running back up in the west coast. Does that we've seen but I do believe that will benefit the most. But don't skip on the Care Zeke. Let's get twenty cares the game and see what is operatives takeoff. I just hope they come more creative. I hope they come more unpredictable. Legal aid over more. I WANNA see that. I don't believe Mike. McCarthy is built that way though he's not a run it on every I aa caller but he's never had a leg up. Eighty eight was rookie of the era. Green rag there were good guys. But that ain't Zeke. I just hope that next year Ziegler turns back into Terrell Davis. And I'm good. Ah You can hand it to him all game long because that man carry John Way to to superheroes I do not think John would have to super we would championship. He got them to all those other. How many get three three three eighty six eighty seven eighty nine and they just weren't good and they were good enough to win? AFC But rumour good enough to beat the NFC right. Okay so before I get into my answer to Jimmy's question. I want to refer to a piece that was written in the the athletic by Bob. mcguigan for whom. I have a lot of respect. Because he covered the packers forty years in Milwaukee and Green Bay and he made one strong point point that will benefit both Dak Enzi. And that is Mike McCarthy's mantra his. He always preached it a coach. The team becomes what the coach preaches. Hardest in that he preaches turnover ratio. Protect the football. Take away the football and this is a stunning being stat. About McCarthy's two hundred and four games that he coached in the regular season in Green Bay. They were a plus ninety seven in those games. Jason Garrett coach coached a hundred and fifty two straight regular season games for the Dallas cowboys were minus two thing about this plus ninety seven in more games coach to minus two. So Jason Garrett's mantra is not focus on the turnover ratio. It's whatever else it is that wasn't working with a a lot of it has to do a Romo Romo was turnover. Prone high risk high reward back mostly high risk. Yeah I got you so then Gwynne on sorry Mcginn also makes the point. How much impact that a younger Mike McCarthy had in the first couple of years on Brett Farr that he actually to quote the peace He? He had a firm but steady guidance on that tone down his impulsiveness and he had his best statistical. Michael Year under Mike McCarthy we need a passer rating of ninety five point seven and it was his best in his eleven years with the packers went thirteen and three in two thousand seven. That was it okay. So he's saying he really had clean it up. Impact on farms game took Romo impulsiveness out of breath bar and this is stunning to me. But I I was. I was not giving McCarthy any credit for this because I thought he sort of went as Aaron Rodgers went but Mcginn who really knows what he's talking about said a few will remember the start of Aaron Rodgers career two years in two starting years in these there for three or that to starting years years in there were as many scouts who believed his career would be a bust as there were those who did not. He couldn't have been less impressive impressive in his first seasons under Mike McCarthy right but then mcgeehan's giving McCarthy credit for starting to help him evolve into the transcendent transcendent. Throw the football that you talked about. Okay well if if I should give credit there instead of just crediting Aaron Rodgers with the rise of Mike McCarthy Carthy will then that is going to help Dak Prescott because as you said incrementally a little better a little better a little better. We'll maybe you could make a quantum leap type into a big time winning playoff quarterback. Yes giving eat when you look at a coat. And he's like hold on he called Brett Farve win the Super Bowl. NBP Aaron Rodgers win the Super Bowl. MVP skip how does that not like. Hey he might have that same impact on me if they did it. Why can't so Mike McCarthy becomes with credibility no matter what you think about him? He was because of this because of that he calls with credibility is going to be all is going to be very interesting and I'm sure at some point. Skip you the most important thing for Jerry Jones. He needs to go back and says that. What do I need to do? Go ahead and given what's don't have don't have to get him into camp. Yeah because that is ready to take the next step. If what this bomb again is saying. He's ready to take the next dip in the cowboys can get to what you believe is the Super Bowl super bowl fifty four and it rang true. What McCarthy was saying about doc because he even had film that he saved of Dak the combine when he was about to be a fourth round? Pick the nationals cow breast and McCarthy made a strong point that he was even more impressed. Remember the early early game. Dak played at Lambeau when he did outplay. Aaron Rodgers in that Game Zeke had a big game they had a big game and they won pretty handily. It was in October of DAX rookie year. A year career at Lambeau field against Mike McCarthy's team. Obviously there's a lot of success. McCarthy had against Dallas which helped get him the job with that wasn't one games and he he said it was so impressive seeing him up close and personal because he's he's physical he's he's a presence because he ways to fortyish easy somewhere in there air maybe at that point too because I think he lost a little weight but the point is everything he said about Dak he said we can run the whole playbook with this guy because as you can make all the throws we don't we don't have to help here you know you can't do this you can't he said we don't scale anything back for him. What he said said about Zeke was platitudes to me? Any quarterback needs a good running game Blah Blah Blah and. It didn't ring. True to me about Zeke. I still say say Zeke. They will use in different ways. You brought up the point. He may have to catch it more and I do believe he'll catch it more. And I do believe that Mike McCarthy in the end wants to throw the football even more than Mike Shannon with you wanted to throw the football he was his DNA. Throw throw royale throw throw right because if you look at the West Coast most of the guys in the back in the West Coast Roger Craig. Ricky warriors gathered that nature. They caught the ball. Oh yeah they have a thousand yards rushing but they catching fifty and sixty ball. Td never call. I don't think. TV come more than ever caught more than thirty. Maybe twenty five his we ran bill oh football with td and you had an office of line it flat out open hole. That's going to be the key skill. WHO's going to be flying coach because the offensive line is really in the west coast is really the most important because they got to four? You gotta protect but you gotta open holes so it's GonNa be interesting to see how how they orchestrate this thing because I like is it. I believe is ready to take the next step. You Get Amari. I'm just assuming that Amari in Gallup's GonNa come back and you've got Z.. If you already got three pro offense at some point in time they've been all pros in their career you got allow Collins. Who many believe is the best right tackle in football you left you left guard okay? We will see how to work out but before you got both top lime and you got one guy. The week you can make up for that but the offensive line is going to be very important because this offense is quarterback friendly Dacca's go. It may look because everything is like you got to come back. Come into that. We've got the drive round coming to that side. We got to check it out so you either. They're one want to three okay. So this team led the League in yards gained and it finished sixth in points scored. That's a disconnect. Something's wrong you the school. Maybe they can be closer to number one in points scored this team. I don't have it off the top of my head. I think finished like plus one internal ratio. Maybe maybe next year. It's plus ten right then. We can have a conversation with you. I mean their defense. I mean when you look at it. They don't have ball halted they. Don't have guys that take take the ball away. And that's why Byron Jones grow will getting kind of money that he was because he doesn't talk about Peter's takes the ball away that's why they will kill you. He he's he's a big time. I'm corner he will turn. He will create turnovers. The cowboys defense didn't create or does it create an upturn. It doesn't give their office. Short beal does doesn't produce scooping scores and pick six like top team. You look at the Ravens you look at the teams that are in a blouse looking deep all their defense do they could take the ball away. Put their offense was on short field. And that's GonNa be key because if you gotTa methodically drive down the field seventy five eighty yards getting hard to get the thirty thirty thirty five points a game when you do all the leg work as opposed the.

You've got to tidy income across behind him or twelve to fourteen ten to twelve your your basic growth best to. That's not their one to check down to the back you're doing west coast with McCartney I if you look at it the last thirty five years. No offense has sent more guys to Ken. We'll play well. I believe Gallup. I believe galloped. Go play the experts. Even which the openside John Taylor. I believe Amari Cooper were played the Z.. Jerry Rice Sterling Sharpe theriault lowest. So this offense is very very if you guy guys that can catch and run believe they. Do you got a quarterback. Dak Prescott is show every year. Maybe at that point two fifty ish because I think he lost a little weight but the point is everything he said said about deck. He said we can run the whole playbook with this guy because he can make all the throws we don't. We don't have to help here. You can't do this you can't he said we don't scale anything back for him. They have a thousand yards rushing but they catching fifty sixty. Td never called. I don't think. TV cut more than ever caught more than thirty bucks. Maybe twenty five his we ran bill football with TD and you had an offensive line yet flat out open holes in that. That's going to be the key. Skip okay who got to be as offensive line coach because the offensive line is really in the west coast is really the most important because they got two full. You gotta protect but you gotta open holes. So it's GonNa be interesting to see how they how they orchestrate this thing because I like I said I believe ready to take the next step you get Amari. It's plus Tin Right. Then we can have a conversation. I mean their defense. I mean when you look at it. They don't have ball hawks they don't have guys that. Take the ball away. And that's why Byron Jones GonNA struggle getting kind of money that he was because he didn't talk about the way. Peters takes the ball wait that's why they will kill you. He's he's a big time corner he will burn. He will create turnovers. The cowboys deepens didn't create or does doesn't create enough turnover doesn't give their office short beal's no it doesn't produce scoop with scores in pig. Sixers like top team. You look at the Ravens you look at the teams that are in a blouse skip working there deep all their defense do they can take the ball away. Put their up into short bill. And that's GonNa be key because if you gotTA methodically drive down the Fi you seventy five. Eighty yards is hard to get the thirty thirty five points the game when you're doing all the leg work as opposed the off your defense give you a short the special teams..

"So I I was there hi guys I know it we talk about the great players in the National Football League five championship game Super Bowl all those things the football player great football player and did some things that were being done at that particular time a lot of a lot of areas I just think the world of interesting conversation on that if you want to react Andy Reid on Donovan McNab as we went through all the hall of Famers who are playing now there's nine hall of fame quarterbacks in my opinion playing now including Russell Wilson and Patrick my homes but Donovan McNab thirty seven thousand two hundred and seventy six yards one Super Bowl appearance for championship games where he was one in three is that good enough for the hall of fame he's got the yardage if you compare him to Aikman he's got all those appearances in the playoffs he carried his team to the postseason but he doesn't have a winning legacy I interviewed Donovan McNab about this years ago and I always thought that make damn sure they got out of Philadelphia but the reason he didn't leave Philadelphia was there always competitive they're always making a run towards the Superbowl at least in the NFC championship game but as we were talking pre show here we put McNab right in the same boat with the guy who as better stats and Joe Flacco we still in the jungle go back to Joe Flacco Joe Flacco is the guy now you always have that who's the guy that you have to debate the most for the hall of fame it's Joe Flacco he's gonna have forty five thousand yards when it's all said and done he's got a Superbowl he's got two hundred and twelve touchdowns he's got much better stats than down on the mat now so for those who say McNab that guy who's on the fence he really is it it's Joe Flacco as the next guy who can get there and get over the hump eight hundred six three six eight six eight six as the number also we'll talk about the hall of Famers were getting in this class are coming up this weekend in canton Ohio from my friend Gil Brandt Tony Gonzales will go through the players and their legacy coming up here in the second hour of the show also Tom loony my long time partner on the radio is gonna come in studio here in the eleven o'clock hour Pacific time looking forward to having him in studio and we're gonna get more into everything that's happening here with the trade deadline yesterday as astro fans are feeling pretty cocky right now and I know that H. town in the history of the jungle in Houston I've been a huge to many times I know a lot of astro fans right now a chart then about going out and getting Zach Frankie Zach reiki puts them over the top I believe in the American League to get to the championship game but will that get them into the World Series will the Astros be head and shoulders better than the Yankees when they get there I'll tell you exact ranking is not gonna make the Yankees scared anytime soon J.
