"AP's 40 time Josh roundtree, we started the NBA where Denver rally back for a win, more from correspondent Bruce Morton. The nuggets overcame a slow start and defeated New Orleans one 22 one 13. For the injury riddled pelicans, this was the 9th consecutive game in which their wings were clipped. The Western Conference leaders were down by as many as 12 before pulling to within 60 57 at the break. Denver went on an 8 to two run to start the second half and remained in control. Jamal Murray was game high with 32. Elsewhere, the heat snuck by the calves 197, LeBron James had his first triple double of the season scoring 28 points with ten rebounds and 11 assists as the Lakers topped the Knicks in OT one 29 one 23. Marilyn knocked off 21st ranked Indiana, 66, 55. On the ice Carolina allowed four second period goals, but came back to beat the king's 5 four and OT. Sebastian aho scored the winner to complete the rally. It wasn't like panic motor or anything like that. We talked about when we get one power play before we write back in it and we got the first goal on 5 O 5, which helped. In Columbus evgeny kuznetsov scored early in OT to lift Washington over the blue jackets four three. Trevor van riemsdyk scored twice in the win. Hurts, Eagles soar into Super Bowl, rout 49ers for NFC title
"Touchdowns propel the eagles to the NFC championship with a 31 7 win over the forty-niners, mile Sanders had two scoring runs. The second book of 7 7 time for the birds who gained their fourth Super Bowl appearance. I wanted to demand respect and do whatever I can to help the team get to the Super Bowl. I promise that when I first got drafted here, I recorded like black party left the game with an elbow injury that had to return, went back up quarterback Josh Johnson, suffered a concussion. This felt like really a lot of just shocks all over from my elbow down to my wrist front and back, just pain. Christian McCaffrey had a touchdown run for San Francisco. Michael luongo, Philadelphia

Mark Levin's Coaching Advice to Philadelphia Eagles
"I really like them and he was a gray coach even for them but they pulled the trigger so fast Something about the DNA in the shanahans they really know how to coach and to win That's the one thing that makes me nervous About the forty-niners playing eagles I still think they're going to win That is the eagles but that said what I think doesn't matter I'm impressed with the coach of the eagles too Look I'm impressed with all these codes There's a lot of really good coaches But that said I believe the defensive coach for the defense under China and I believe he was a linebacker for the eagles at one point Now I'm going to say one thing over the air that most of you won't care about but I'm going to say it anything Did the eagles coaching squad You better watch the passing down the middle between the numbers 8 ten 12 15 20 yard passes Your defense is a little weak there And that's where San Francisco hits anyway The passing down the center Got a tighten it up And by giving away any secrets I'm no Stephen a Smith But I am Mark R Levin and I watch these things from time to time

49ers beat Cowboys 19-12 to advance to NFC title game
"The forty-niners broke through after a low scoring first half to hold off the cowboys 19 to 12 to advance to the NFC championship game. Although it wasn't his best performance, Brock purdy was 19 of 29 for 214 yards. Play a football is not easy, so to go and to pull off a win like that against a great team like Dallas and now going to the NFC championship. It means a lot to us and for myself when I take a step back it's pretty cool. Very thankful. Christian McCaffrey had a two yard scoring run and Robbie gold kicked four field goals in the lost, dak Prescott was 23 of 37 for 206 yards, including a four yard touchdown pass to Dalton Schultz. "NFL roundup Saturday preview. I'm Dave ferry. Fresh off a biweek, the eagles and chiefs are back on the field Saturday and her favorites to advance to the conference championship games. Philadelphia hosts the Giants of Kansas City entertains the Jaguars. The week off gave eagles quarterback Jalen hurts extra time to rest his spring right shoulder. He missed two games, but was back under center when the eagles beat the Giants 22 16 in week 18. Hertz has respect for the Giants defense. Regardless of what they've done, you know, I think they've done it well. What are they playing man coverage? They do that well, whatever the plan is on coverage, they play that well. So I think for us, it's just on us executing versus them. Hurts was healthy when the eagles handed the Giants their worst loss of the season, 48, 22 and week 14. And now the two teams meet for the third time in 7 weeks, eagles wide receiver AJ Brown says he doesn't see that as an advantage for either team. It doesn't matter how many times you play it. Come down to it. This opportunity and shouldn't be worried about what you did in the past or it doesn't help it doesn't hurt. You got to execute and that's what we find. The Giants were riding high at 7 and two before a two 5 and one finish dropped them to the 6th seed, but New York advanced in the wildcard as Daniel Jones threw for 301 yards and ran for 78 yards in the 31 24 downing of the Vikings. But he faces another challenge playing in front of the hostile eagle fans. It's a divisional game. I think that brings some intensity to it and yeah, I mean, they're known for having a good crowd that supports their team and yeah, so we're prepared for it. We've played there. Coach Brian debal says Jones has grown in his four NFL seasons, although this is their first year together. Dave ball sees Jones as a calming influence who is far removed from the player who went 12 and 25 in his first three years. Players looked to him because he is that consistent voice consistent message and consistent player, how he practices, I think, consistent is probably the best word to use. On paper, the chief's Jaguars game appears to be a potential mismatch, and Jags coach Doug Peterson knows their margin for error is small. For us, it's just a matter of just staying disciplined and trusting what we're doing. And just understand your role within your game plan, right? And just execute each play one at a time. Peterson was a backup quarterback when Reid was head coach of the eagles. And he also was a member of Reid's coaching staff. Reed has been impressed by Jacksonville's improvement this season. They've improved every week, and they have bought it. Doug's done a great job as his coaches have. It takes everybody. So, but he's a nice job with her. A 27, 17 loss in Kansas City left the Jaguars three and 7, but Jacksonville won 6 of its last 7 to win the AFC south, then turned to 27, nothing deficit into a 31 30 win over the Chargers in the wild card round. They advanced to the divisional round despite four first half interceptions by Trevor Lawrence, who also threw for four touchdowns and leading the comeback. I think we scored every drive in the second half, didn't pun again. So, I mean, that's huge, obviously, gives us confidence, and you don't want to do that, but to be able to win a game like that is really, really special. Lawrence has put up good numbers, throwing for 4113 yards and 25 touchdowns. But chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes put up historic numbers, racking up 5250 passing yards and 41 touchdowns for the NFL's number one scoring offense. But the playoffs are an elevated brand of football, according to mahomes. I think you build up for this all season long. The regular season you take it week by week, but you want to be here in the playoffs and you know you're going to play the best football teams in the league and that's what you want to do as a competitor. And so I'm excited to get to go up against a great football team at arrowhead. That's always a good time. As of Friday afternoon, DraftKings had the chiefs at 9 point favorite while the eagles were giving 7 and a half points. Sunday's games have the bills hosting the Bengals before the cowboys visit the forty-niners. I'm Dave ferry, AP sports.

"NFL playoffs roundup. I'm Dave fairy. In his first postseason performance, Trevor Lawrence giveth, any taketh away. Denny cap has details. The Jack wires rally from 27 down to edge the Chargers 31 to 30, rightly Patterson's 36 yard field goal as time expired count the third largest comeback in NFL postseason history. Jaguar's quarterback Trevor Lawrence overcame the worst half of his career to win and his playoff debut. I didn't play my best tonight, so I'm gonna watch the table. There's gonna be so much to learn from. But honestly, I mean, you couldn't write a better script than to win a game like that. Lawrence threw four first half interceptions, three to asante Samuel junior to help the Chargers score the first 27 points of the game. He went on to throw four touchdowns, including three in the second half. Chargers head coach Brandon staley says their second half execution was poor. Anytime you're up 27 to 7 and a half time and you've got four takeaways and you end up winning the takeaway margin four nothing. It's going to be it's going to be a killer. I'm hurting for everybody in that locker room. It's a special group of guys and this is the toughest way that you can lose. The forty-niners open their postseason schedule by claiming their 11th consecutive victory. Ryan Leung was there. The forty-niners outscored Seattle 25 to 6 in the second half to beat the Seahawks 41 to 23. In his playoff debut, Brock purdy was 18 of 30 for 332 yards and three touchdowns. Having 6 games under my belt in terms of just playing in an NFL game and trying to win for four quarters, you know, has helped me get to this point and all the guys in the locker room got my back. They've all grown together. So we're ready for what's ahead. Christian McCaffrey had a 119 yards rushing, and deebo Samuel had 6 catches for a 133 yards. You know Smith was 25 of 35 for 253 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. McCaffrey says pretty showed a lot of poise for a guy who was taken last overall in the 2022 draft. He's extremely confident and he's exactly what you would want in a quarterback. No moment is too big for him and he makes corrections quickly and we saw that today and he's able to go out there and play with some juice and hit the right guys and let everybody else do their jobs. Sunday's games have the bills hosting the dolphins. The Vikings entertaining the Giants and the ravens visiting the Bengals. The dolphins with the last team to grab an AFC playoff birth. And buffalo finished with the second best winning percentage in the conference, but bill's coach Sean McDermott says his team better be ready. That's a good football team. That we've split with this year and we have a lot of respect for them in terms of what they've done and what they've accomplished this season. So we've got to get ourselves ready to go. The dolphins handed the bills their first loss of the season during week three. Buffalo was a 32 29 winner over Miami at Orchard park on December 17th. The Vikings of the number three seed in the NFC, three spots ahead of the Giants, but New York is one of the sexy pics to pull off an upset. Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell says he has respect for giants coach Brian dabel and defensive coordinator wink martingale. I've talked a lot about not only their head coach, but wink and his staff, they do a phenomenal job, their challenge to prepare for and our guys got to be ready to go and ready to go play fast against a really talented defense. The Vikings earned a 27 24 home win over the Giants on Christmas Eve. Like the bills and Vikings, the Bengals are well familiar with their road opponent. Cincinnati beat the ravens 27 16 a week ago, but Baltimore came away with the last second win over the Bengals on October 9th. Joe burrow hopes their AFC title run last season will benefit them this month. I think it's natural to call back on experiences that you've had in similar situations. So I think I'd be lying if I said I wasn't, but like I said, it's a new year new team, new opponents, and so we know what it takes. That's all last year did for us. The first round ends with the Buccaneers hosting the cowboys on Monday night. I'm Dave ferry, AP sports.

The eagles Clinton Division Championship and the number one seed in the NFC playoffs with the 22 16 win over the Giants Philadelphia touchdown run by Boston Scott and 5 field goals by Jake Elliott and his first game back with my shoulder injury quarterback Jalen hurts true for 229 yards for the birds who finished a regular season at 14 and three. We worked really hard to be where we are now. We've overcome a lot. We've been through a lot as a team and as individuals. Davis Webb, right for one touchdown through for another for the Giants. The Seahawks are playoff bound as Jim Bernard reports. First, the Seahawks did their part by outlasting the Los Angeles Rams in the 1916 overtime victory, then the Detroit Lions did theirs by beating the Green Bay Packers. Gino Smith overcame two Jalen Ramsey interceptions and passed for 213 yards and a touchdown while Kenneth walker rushed for 114 yards. The dolphins have extended their season. Denny cap has details. Three Jason Sanders field goals are all the dolphins need to squeak into the playoffs and beat the jets 11 to 6. Sanders kicked the game winner from 50 yards out with 18 seconds left, and a battle of third string quarterbacks it was rookie 7th round draft pick, Skylar Thompson, who did just enough to send his team to the postseason. Seeing a win and feeling a win is important and especially going into the playoffs. Going to buffalo, which is a very good football team. We're going to be confident. Thompson completed 20 to 31 for a 152 yards and no interceptions to help the dolphins snap a 5 game skid. The Bengals beat the ravens 27 16 to avoid a coin flip for home field when the two teams meet again in the AFC playoffs next weekend. Cincinnati scored touchdowns off three first half turnovers by quarterback Anthony Brown. Joe burrow was 25 of 42 for 215 yards one touchdown and no interceptions. If he didn't win this one, I guess technically we would have won the division, but wouldn't have felt like it. So it's good to get this one. We're going to have to play better next week to get the win. Especially me. The bills played inspired ball less than a week after teammate demar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during a game. Gene battaglia reports. On a day filled with emotion, the Buffalo Bills won the regular season finale against New England Patriots, 35 to 23. Naim Heinz buffalo returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown. It also get another kick-off return for a score. Bill's quarterback Josh Allen says, after seeing that opening play, he knew it would be their day. I can't remember a play that touched me like that. And I don't think in my life. Buffalo finished the season at 13 and three, and now they are the second seed and will host the Miami Dolphins in the wild card round. Ryan leong was at the forty-niners, went over the Cardinals. For the first time in franchise history, the forty-niners ended the season on a ten game win streak after convincing 38 to 13 win over the Cardinals. The forty-niners are locked in as the number two seat in the upcoming NFC playoffs. Brock purdy was 15 of 20 for a 178 yards and three touchdowns. So those are the kind of things that we ask ourselves every day and we're excited about, but I'm excited moving forward for being on a win streak. In the final game of his career, JJ watt had two sacks and 5 total tackles, but the Cardinals lost 7 straight to finish at four and 13. The bears were 29 13 losers to the Vikings, and the Texans earned a 32 31 win over the colts. That means the bears will have the number one pick in the draft for the first time since 1947. The Houston win didn't stop the team from firing head coach levy Smith. In other games, the falcons beat the Buccaneers 30 17. "NFL week 17 roundup, I'm Dave fairy. Three teams are now battling for the last NFC wild card birth and one is the packers is Mark Daniels reports. You have enough for debt a month ago, the Green Bay Packers dominated the NFC north champion Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field 41 17 for their fourth in a row. Fell behind three to nothing after a block pond early, but keyshawn Nixon took the next kick-off back a 105 yards for a touchdown packers didn't stop until it was 41 three, midway through the fourth. This one out 12 and four while the 8 and 8 packers need only to beat the Detroit Lions in their finale at home to secure the NFC's final wild card spot. The Lions also enjoyed a blowout win. Denny cap was there. The lion's defense sacks Justin Fields 7 times in a 41 ten route of the bears, Lions rookie James Houston tally three sacks in just a 6 game of the season and now leads all NFL rookies with 8 of them on the year as his team stays in the playoff hunt, improving the 8 and 8. We coming together as a team, everybody is getting better, man. Everybody's doing their job. Everybody's executing when they're supposed to execute. Houston also forced a fumble of fields who completed just 7 of 21 for 75 yards. The Seahawks also have postseason hopes. Jim Bernard has the details. The Seattle Seahawks kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23 6 win over the New York Jets. Gino Smith passed for 183 yards and two touchdowns as the seahawk snapped a three game losing streak. Obviously, we hit a rough patch and it's not what we want, but we still got a shot. And so what we can control is winning next week, another tough opponent. But all we can do is control what we can control and look at the situation at hand. They sealed the victory when Marshawn latimer put another pass by Gardner and menchu and ran it back 11 yards for a score and a Dalton through two to four yards for the saints who improved the 7 and 9 when you look at how you finish the season. There's a lot to say for that and there's a lot that you can carry over and you want to be playing your best football at the end of the year and I feel like we're doing that. Mention had one touchdown pass for the Bridget is still clinched against the eastern Division Championship and the number one overall seed with the win next week. Eric waddell watched the Buccaneers clinch a playoff birth. Tampa Bay out lasted Carolina 30 to 24. The win for the bucks clinched the NFC south title, bucks wide receiver Chris Godwin had a 120 receiving yards and says his team is building for whoever Tampa plays in the playoff. My legacy gets anybody, man. You know, and I feel like we, you know, we still got a ways to go. We still got some things that we got to work on. But, you know, that was a big step for us. The Patriots still have playoff hopes. Gregg cadets, reports. The New England Patriots kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23 21 come from behind victory over the Miami Dolphins. "Is he interested in what he's saying? Crack me up. I mean, how could somebody be boring and not know it? And yet I would imagine that that could happen, I think it happened. What does happen? Certainly in talk radio, I can say this. There are totally different types. And where there's left wing talk radio, which is not common because they had the left owns everything else. They don't need to have talk shows. But even where there is a left wing talk show host on television. I promise you there is one thing every one of us has in common. We can hold people's interest. Or we get fired. Interesting is to talk TV or radio, what flying is to a pilot. You don't fly well. You don't get to be a pilot or you get fired. It's very very basic, but I realize it is basic in everything. You know, my love of classical music. Why do I prefer one pianist to another they're playing the exact same notes? It's always puzzled me why do I prefer one performance to another? And now I know the answer. I did not know the answer. So just a few years ago. They hold my interest, even if I don't agree with their interpretation, they held my interest. That's number one. Hello, my Friends, Dennis prager here. This is a complete coincidence, but it's so fitting because I've been talking to you this show about this week being the 40th anniversary of myself of being on radio. And this was scheduled before I even thought about talking about this. I literally thought about this last night flying home from Florida. Where I just spent 8 days, I'll tell you why again later. And it is perfect because the man who hired me was ultimately the man who hired a legend, and I say that with absolute seriousness. In radio and beyond radio, Larry elder, Larry and I know each other for much of the 40 years. I had the good, good fortune of meeting him in Cleveland. Bringing his name to George green at ABC in LA, and the rest as they say is history. And we had great time promoting each other's show because he would follow me. And the highlight of the day was the promo of his show when invariably we would insult each other. To the light of both of us. Larry elder ran for governor of California. Should have won. If people had understood their own interest, not even the interest of others just their own. And voted, but he made a tremendous impact on the nation in running with regard to the recall of Gavin Newsom. Who was as nothing a governor as any state has ever had. Larry has Larry made a tremendously successful documentary called Uncle Tom. And now Uncle Tom two is coming out, you can see it at the Salem news channel starting the end of this month. You could pre order it now. And you should, and you should watch it. You might as well get it as a gift for friends as well..

"And this there's a lot I want to talk to you about that's happening, but there's no urgent news item that I feel I needed to cover. And it's August 1st, so I'm reflecting on the fact that I believe it was the first week of August that I began broadcasting 40 years ago. So it's 40 years, and I thought I'd reflect. Talk radio and specifically my talk show. So I've offered you a number of insights. Here's another one that I learned through speaking and through non radio speaking and through radio. You know what the most important thing in communication is when you hear it, it will make sense immediately, but I'm not sure that most people would think about it. But you should think about it if you do any writing or speaking. It's pretty big. It's so big that it applies to all modes of communication. Including music. You have to be interesting. You could be brilliant, it could be wise, you could be everything. But if you don't hold people's interest, you will not you will not. Get your ideas across. Think about teachers you had in school, the interesting ones could make subjects you didn't even care about interesting. The most interesting teacher I had in graduate school taught me a subject that at the time I didn't care about international economics. It is certainly my. Gap in my mind that I wasn't interested. But I'm leveling with you. Charles issawi. ISS AWI Lebanese American. He was a fixture of Columbia University. There was a time when Columbia was going left, but had not yet. Ruined itself, committed suicide intellectual and moral suicide as it has. The interesting can make something you couldn't care less about interesting and the boring could make something you deeply care about completely uninteresting. The question is can people who are boring when they communicate or, well, can they? I'll leave it at that. Can they know it? Didn't you ever wonder when somebody droned on whether it was a teacher or a clergyman, I guess those are the two most obvious. I remember thinking this in high school, if the teacher was boring, does he or she know? But they're boring..

"Thank you, Sean. On behalf of the multitudes listening. It's a very important thing to realize that everybody must truly an outlier. Everybody has a perfectly fine intellect. Our problem is entirely one of what the intellect is used for. Clarity of thought and common sense are rare. But not decent intellect. That's almost the norm. It is the norm. There are always exceptions to anything. Some people will spectacular intellect some people with inferior intellect. But the great majority of people have a fine intellect. So I adopted a motto that was not mine. It was actually what I had heard very early on in my career. Never underestimate people's intelligence and never overestimate their knowledge. Very, very good thing for anybody who talks publicly or rights. To understand, that's why I explain everything. I don't assume, if I mention the gulag archipelago, I don't assume tragically I wish I could. That everybody knows of it, especially younger people. So I will have to say the system of camps that killed tens of millions in Siberia, established by Stalin. I won't explain it every single time I mentioned the gulag. Or explain the Auschwitz. I haven't, I don't know if I've explained Auschwitz. I think I assumed I assume everybody of the baby boomer generation knows what it is, but the young generation I don't assume. I have no idea what the young generation knows. In Miami, I was signing some of my books to my fellow participants in the. In the seminars on exodus that I was doing for daily wire. And when I wrote it in the script or cursive, mentioned that he didn't think young people would be able to even read what I wrote. Do you know that when I sign my book or any of my books to a young person, I actually ask them, do you read cursive? Because it's useless for me to inscribe something to them that they can't read. They don't learn music. They don't learn art. They don't learn cursive. They don't learn grammar. But they do learn to question whether they're a boy or a girl. That's something..

"When I was in high school, I wrote in my diary, which unfortunately I stopped keeping once I got to college. I wrote that I know what I want to do with my life, and I wrote the words, influence people, to the good. I had no idea how I would do it, let alone if I would make a living doing it. No idea. So why I remember being worried in my junior year in college, what am I going to do for a living? That's a pretty good question. What you want to do with your life is not be a is not be someone finance or law or medicine or blue collar work or any other white collar job? It's amazing that I didn't sort of panic. But something came along amazingly I was sent into the Soviet Union that year by junior year. By the government of Israel, which I had friends in Israel who told the foreign office there, which sent in young Jews to smuggle in a religious items and to smuggle out names, people to want it to leave. That I spoke that they found this kid who spoke Hebrew and Russian. From the school from the age of 5, I spoke Russian because I studied it for three years in college. So they sent me for a month. I came back and started lecturing, and that was how I began a public life. Lecturing on what I experienced in the Soviet Union. And then gradually, my name was brought and moved to LA to run an educational institute. So the influencing that I wanted to do began very, very early in my life. At 25, I wrote the most widely bought or maybe read as well. Introduction to Judaism with my co author and friend Joseph de luskin. And it was off to the races, started radio 30 34. I was a kid. It was on ABC radio in Los Angeles. And. I have wonderful memories of being there before Disney took it over and ruined it. It was an amazing switch from ABC to Disney. They didn't have the idea of woke then. Disney ruined it by cheapening it..

While i've done a lot of talking a lot of talking i've also been listening to you. I've heard from so many of you. What you love about the show. And i appreciate that. I've also heard what you want more of an even what you want less of and one of the challenges i've had since day one was leading women know that forty thrive is not just for women in their forties. It's for women over forty. So if you're in your fifties or sixties or hell even beyond that this is for you to but if you hear something more than a couple of times you might actually consider tweaking your messaging. She's someone who wants more out of life. She's a lifelong learner. She dares to dream. She knows that this is the time to leap in life but is a little afraid of the idea and even if she wanted to how would she do it. She wants to take care of her shit like really wants to. She is a grown ass woman and likely she is you. Yeah the calendar says you're over forty. I get that and that to me says something. It says we've lived a lot of life. We've got so much experience but it's not just women over forty who get me fired up who turned to me for coaching and collaboration. It's the grown asks woman over forty. She is something special. "Mentioned the warlords before and of course a lot of those are many of those warlords were notoriously involved in the drug trade As was the taliban Which had imposed a ten percent tax on opium production in the country only shannon Writes in the washington post today now. The taliban controls a nation with roaring production opium hashish and crystal meth taliban leaders may well announce a crackdown on religious grounds. But don't be fooled. The world may soon face the richest best armed narco-state ever conceived issue right. Yes i think that as i. I can't really prebble with that. Because i think that. They will take the proceeds on her cottage processing but it is fair to say that the previous government had officials who were deeply up to their whatever narcotics processing but the taliban is going to sort of make the opposite of privatize. The whole thing is now going to become a state. Enterprise and the most of their drugs are going to russia and iran. And it's very possible that it will find its way here and they've managed by the way to find a way to grow et cetera which is christopher methamphetamines Rather than have to depend on chemicals. So what is that product that they're growing. What is the crop etcetera right. It's a plant and that's instead of poppies or in a sense. I mean it's all about this. It's all about the markets. One thing we haven't talked about yet is the reason that we got into this war in this effort in the first place. Which was september eleventh in the attacks perpetrated by al-qaeda on the us what is your sense of whether the taliban will be open to al qaeda coming back. i mean they're there in some form but coming back and large numbers reconstituting on their territory and potentially using afghanistan as a base for attacks against the united states or other allies. Well it's just speak to that last part. I don't think the taliban are interested in a kaieda. Having her national attack on the united states for its allies that that probably something we could discourage but in terms al qaeda coming back they never left and the taliban when they swept through these cities one of the first things they were doing this going to jails and letting people out so the al-qaeda prisoners who were there and in the the most secure jail that had been on. What was the us military base. They let them all out so not only were. There are kinda out before this juggernaut. Now there are more of that and the idea that they'll cut has been degraded. I think this is true. In its way that it doesn't take much and certainly a massive propaganda win by the taliban is all that is needed to make more people come to afghanistan with the aim of being part of this very successful hot so it seems like america essentially has a to ongoing kind of strategic goals. Now in afghanistan one is a more short-term one which is to deal with the humanitarian crisis that is ongoing there to to salvage as much of the situation as possible and then the longer term goal is to it seems as biden formulated to prevent afghanistan from becoming a epicenter for international terrorism or narcoterrorism. With a light sprinkling of concern for human rights issues. Seems if those are the two strategic goals and please disagree with me you know or add to them if you think but what tools what levers does the united states have at its disposal now to pursue those sure so we have more than a few strategic goals i would say We have a moral obligation to the people of afghanistan who are facing this grave threat an obligation in terms of evacuation but also in terms of those who will be left behind. It's really important that we not squander our leverage very very small amounts of it are left west before we try our best to help people eat protected and have their human rights respected. We have strategic goals. And i would have said that's those goals revolved our counterterrorism posture. In that was something we wanted to do. We have pretty much given upper ability to easily control terrorists. That comes out of afghanistan but we have a strategic goal in the rest of the world in making it making it less a possible for people to take our side of the our friend and ally right now. china is i. i heard from one person. Third hand at china's deploying these diplomatic talking points all over the place. Latin america taiwan. Which look what happens to america's french pick. Our strategic goal is that we have to fly in the face of that set of talking points and make it a positive. Act the our friend again and there is a great distance to cover before. That's going to be. The case in turns of leverage as i said is very little left. What we have we could say is political with respect recognition. The taliban led government. We don't have to recognize them but whether we do or not. It's actually going to mean less. If other countries do so again. Russia china iran. A lot of countries are probably at this moment. Cutting a deal of what it will take for them to recognize the taliban. I was going to pick up on that. Because we were talking before about glimmers of hope that the taliban might be changing might be more pragmatic more peaceful and this idea of taliban two point oh are there specific things that the united states government can or should be doing to try to push the taliban and in that direction and should there be a kind of engagement with taliban leaders that publicly would be difficult to do right now but might might be useful. Well i've states as incapable at this moment in time of getting the taliban move troops their forces away from airport road so let's not overstate our influence. We should be using the security council. There is almost nothing. I can think of needs to be done done by the acting. What should be done is a concerted effort to condition recognition of the taliban and eventually them getting a seat at the united nations on their commitment to abide by afghanistan's international human rights out the patients. We can't be thinking just about the people who leave and we can't think the solution is to get people out. Thirty five million people are still there. So what can the international community do you know i. I like to think about that. Incredible free press and the incredible afghan independent human rights to mission. I would put that at. The top of my list is what the international community is going to try best to protect because if they have their press and they had their human rights mission and the afghans can watch their own rights. I think it's time for us to all to get out of the business of thinking we can it be on day-to-day basis if protector. It have their own institutions. Now i think we did a good job in helping to nurture those as the real. So can we do something and we have recognition that we're working with and we have issues of money and at this point everyone knows the. Us isn't gonna put any force into its threats so we really don't have that many tools left just to wrap up. I mentioned you're with this group alliance and supported the afghan people. What specifically do you want to see done right now. You mentioned the international community but looking to congress. Do we need investigations into how this played out. Dewey are there other steps that need to be taken right away to prevent the kind of horrific scenarios.

"Were part of the afghan government who helped us who served as translators who served with the with the military and that's a staggering number compared to what we get out like a couple thousand yesterday from the airport and you have thousands and thousands trying to get in so right and meanwhile biden seems to have essentially drawn a line at just get americans out right. He's gonna he's gonna stay in afghanistan with. Us troops protecting the airport. As long as it takes to get americans out every every everyone else that you're you're it seems like you're on your on your own. Yeah i just wanted to before we get to our guest that an excellent guest is andy. Four timers who actually served in afghanistan was deputy chief of mission couple points. You know biden did this to end the era of analysts wars. He might have done so for the united states. But it's not it's highly doubtful. He will have done so for afghanistan in today's washington post akkhmed. Masud the son of the rebel commander. Ahmed shah sued who was assassinated on the eve of nine eleven who had fought valiantly against the taliban and said in his op-ed today he's going north hooking up with afghan army soldiers who were quote disgusted by the surrender of their commanders and are now making their way to the hills of pudgier with their equipment former members of the afghan special forces have also joined our struggle. That is a struggle to fight the taliban so it appears that the war for the afghans will continue. And i do want to take a point of personal privilege by playing the introduction for an episode of the conspiracy land podcast. We did in june july on jamal kashogi. Because there's one episode that dealt with the war afghanistan. And as i said in the introduction all the coverage today does talked about the twenty year american involvement in afghanistan. That's not true. It's actually twice that forty years to the time when the soviets invaded afghanistan in nineteen seventy nine and. Jimmy carter responded. Let's listen to a few minutes of that. "Really hot. When you're bullying spectators armory freezing and the rest are just sweating. So what would be the effect if if you wanted to establish yourself as the hardest throwing a professional bowler on the planet and all of a sudden you just started throwing like a twenty eight mile an hour ball ball. Yeah like look at like a feather light ball who just thirty miles an hour down the line. yeah. I think i need a new arm. Stafford wondered that. I don't know that you've not always wondered that. Yes on that. I think that to the like is there more value. Because i guess if every throws around the same fee like what if you just became the hardest throwing bowler and you're geared on this your average goes lower right but you get like the notoriety of. Oh my god like aaron throws thirty miles an hour like she'll bowl one twenty but throws thirty miles an hour their value to that. I guess it just depends on on who wants to follow it along. How do we feel about midnight. Bowling music playing when with bowling party. Atmospheres around. Bowling is some graceful. Wow see i'm a fan of it. I liked the latter the music to better. How do we feel about this erin. I don't mind music. But that. I guess if i'm if i'm just bowling fun that's fine but it's it's hard for me to bowl for sundown. Say you wanna go cosmic bowling on a friday night michelle. I'll go to watch probably won't be throwing evolved on though. What could you opposite handed. And maybe a one hundred average not impressive probably hit some tenants mestre shooting very safar terrified by single pin spares because to me. That's what all the pressure is. On if i if you have a single pins bear one hundred times. How many times one hundred will you make. That single pins. fair would hope bits. Above ninety percent annexing open conspiracy in bowling are much like free throws in basketball. They should be made obviously sometimes are not made but you should have ideally a ninety five percent spare average for some offense or better ten pence even that tenpin hate that tenpin. Yeah throw a lot of us throw plastic dolls at ten kennedy good bowlers. Do we do that we superbowl. What does that mean so like you were to go into bowling center. Kick up just a ball off the rack like a house ball at the center provides. There's no there's no wait. Lock in a senator. Bowling ball won't hook so it should go dead straight towards the pen. I can make a house ball hook a little bit. You know what. I hate greg. I hate when there's two pins left but it looks like there's one pin less being you got the one pin that surprise. That's another one hiding behind. That's the worst. What's the worst. The is the worst. What your top three worst. That's the worst bowling. So you know the tens of i do tell them okay so a three six nine ten basically on the side and then you have the one behind it about i. I think that's a billers worst nightmare. Our i think so. You've had nightmares about that. Spare percentage just low. It's not where it should be. That's probably my mouth beards fair. Is there any way to carry your skills over to ski ball. Have you tried ski ball at all trotsky ball. I like ski ball. I'm mediocre at it. You'd think i should be better. It's the ramp though. The ramp really throws things off like if there was that ramp and bowling. Bet that you wouldn't be doing as well because you can't really predict the ramp. You're correct but boy evil you know. It's the arcade version with the circles. Roll the ball. Oh yeah yeah okay. I didn't know what it was called. Yeah that before before we go. I think you're very proud of your bowling form. So i think you should like back up from your chair and show her like a dry. A dry run. That's what we call it right. Aaron give her a dry run of a swing and Let her evaluate it. Okay well. I'm i'm wearing basketball shorts right now. I'm not really. They're on going to attire. But madge nat. They're blue signed back center. I mean what does he hold it. See like a double double. He did a false start. There he was he was nervous. The pressure got to. That was the most embarrassing thing i've ever done in my life. But you know what the key to me. Erin is the exaggerated harm thing after all is through in the in the. Yeah what would you rate that on a scale of one to ten seven. Thank you wow. Professional bowler has given me a seven. That's on my tombstone. Put it on their one last question. Would you rather get a turkey or four strikes out of five but it's broken up. You have a spare in the middle. Because i feel like there's something turkey that i just like. I'd rather have the turkey. Yeah santer also prefer house bowling shoes over like actual bowling shoes. Because i liked the feeling of sliding where i feel like. If you get like your own personal bowling shoes you don't have that same slide. Why is that. I think it's going to shift from the bowling alley there. There used the broken in so the more use them the slipper the more slippery they get on the bottom they make you slide more. I guess you don't like the slide. I i can do the moonwalk good in house bowling shoes. Oh okay aaron. How did this go for you. Was this okay. Yeah this is fun. Okay thank you thank you. I mean that's where it's gonna get tricky because i'm like i might go to less basketball games. I go to a lot of. I'm a season ticket holder for the clippers. I go when i'm home. I go to every home game possible you got to like two years ago. I went to like damn near every one of them. I think only gave like three or four away. So i went to like forty home games. Forty who has to sit next to the camera though. 'cause like it's gotta sit next to somebody the camera. Yeah it's like right senator corey. If you're sitting there you can just turn look at drake's fucking new heart hairline. Oh yeah you know. The thing to do is just watch. What drake's during the whole time. Don't even watch it so many people would tune in just to sit next to drake in stare at him the time just to see what he does end. Do they sell those tickets. What's the deal with that. 'cause i'm like it's gotta have like a digital price tag in the physical price tag for sure. I think it's like a nfl ticket. Type situation. cable bill. Because i think i would do that. Especially if i'm like out of town style and i could just sit here in khloe. Hates watching the basketball games with me. anyways i'm recur. I make are do fuss not. I'm like we're watching. And she's like. Oh good. And then i was like quizzing her. She doesn't care. But i'm like i'm like what just happened. You're watching what just happened. And she says nightmares. Stop talking to be. I'm reading a book. i don't give a fuck. I'm sitting next to you. I just want to spend time with my fiance. This is what. I have to spend time with you just proximity. You don't understand the first round of the nba playoffs. I it's a big deal if you're a basketball fan. There's basketball every night. Admittedly it is a lot. It's crazy it's so much. And then it slows down. And then the next round there's wireless games. It's way more. You can manage it but that first round. It's like hey sorry honey. I do have to watch five hours of basketball every night or four four days a week and your commitment almost as much as like a jerk sash. Our your day is a half jerk. You're working almost two-thirds of a jerk says nba tv. So i'm getting fucking bent over on some of these games. I can't find them. Yeah did they just start doing that this year. So yeah it's so annoying. They're trying to get everybody on. Mba i have nba tv but my mba. Tv is in la. That's where the account was set up. So i'm trying to watch it here and i can't watch it. Is it an app on apple. Tv or what is it. Yeah you can. You can download it okay. But i can't watch it because his blackout in my area which is so annoying. I gotta get what's the thing that That it's vp of vpn. Yes shout out. Vpn got going to score. One of those. I remember we advertise for them. They asked if i wanted one. I'm like i don't need..

"It's showing you at such an early time like rape culture and toxic masculinity and all of these things that are so involved now to talk about. He really was eviscerating. The whole concept of this. This gladiator like sport. That just grinds up you know the bodies is about the only thing that's not really in the movie which is kind of ironic given that peter peter gent or gant however you pronounce his name. That wrote the book that it's based on said a little bit than one of the things. He was shocked by at the time. Was that the black players. 'cause this is all sort of a romantic cliff of his time with the dallas cowboys. Peter jen- was a wide receiver. Much like nick. Nolte's character in north dallas forty and he mentions in a couple of things written about the movie that he was surprised that the black players weren't allowed to live in the town that surrounded the dallas cowboys practice facility at the time which was in north dallas. And that's where he got the name from the movie. It's kind of curious that that's the one sort of thing that cutoff left out of this. Otherwise very prescient and eviscerating film about all of these things really tackle the racial angle baby. That's because at that time the nfl was maybe a little bit more of a white boys club. And you know black players were not yet the fodder for everyone else's entertainment that it would kind of grow to. I'm not sure. I don't know the history of the nfl in the early days enough. But i could imagine given american history that they were probably black. Players were probably excluded from the forties fifties sixties early seventies of the nfl. Much like they were in major baseball until you know integration so. I'm not sure where that came from. But it's interesting that it's missing. Yeah i mean it's in there a little bit It's noticeable when you go back and watch this film how much the team is almost entirely as you said You know southern white boys mum. The one exception of where race kind of gets Addressed is in the tension between Joe bob The big swim like I don't know if i don't know if he's supposed to be brain damaged votes benson benson but between him and the And some of the Deployed the defensive line players who were black number. The scene in the movie where Charles joining is reading that stupid thing that he allegedly found on the locker about what winning is all about and yes they showed the The african american players are kind of getting into it and they were doing all like calling response like a gospel. You hurt kind of respond. Helen tell it. Yeah exactly. And i think they're serious not everybody in. The room is serious in the way. But joe bob Gets offended by that right. We're supposed to draw off of that is that what's going on. Between at least him and some of the other characters is something you know. It's southern racism. Yes i think you're right and he doesn't like they're kind of i guess they're not really i guess he just doesn't like the way that they're responding and he finds that he finds it inappropriate. I don. I'm not you know not..
