"Really hot. When you're bullying spectators armory freezing and the rest are just sweating. So what would be the effect if if you wanted to establish yourself as the hardest throwing a professional bowler on the planet and all of a sudden you just started throwing like a twenty eight mile an hour ball ball. Yeah like look at like a feather light ball who just thirty miles an hour down the line. yeah. I think i need a new arm. Stafford wondered that. I don't know that you've not always wondered that. Yes on that. I think that to the like is there more value. Because i guess if every throws around the same fee like what if you just became the hardest throwing bowler and you're geared on this your average goes lower right but you get like the notoriety of. Oh my god like aaron throws thirty miles an hour like she'll bowl one twenty but throws thirty miles an hour their value to that. I guess it just depends on on who wants to follow it along. How do we feel about midnight. Bowling music playing when with bowling party. Atmospheres around. Bowling is some graceful. Wow see i'm a fan of it. I liked the latter the music to better. How do we feel about this erin. I don't mind music. But that. I guess if i'm if i'm just bowling fun that's fine but it's it's hard for me to bowl for sundown. Say you wanna go cosmic bowling on a friday night michelle. I'll go to watch probably won't be throwing evolved on though. What could you opposite handed. And maybe a one hundred average not impressive probably hit some tenants mestre shooting very safar terrified by single pin spares because to me. That's what all the pressure is. On if i if you have a single pins bear one hundred times. How many times one hundred will you make. That single pins. fair would hope bits. Above ninety percent annexing open conspiracy in bowling are much like free throws in basketball. They should be made obviously sometimes are not made but you should have ideally a ninety five percent spare average for some offense or better ten pence even that tenpin hate that tenpin. Yeah throw a lot of us throw plastic dolls at ten kennedy good bowlers. Do we do that we superbowl. What does that mean so like you were to go into bowling center. Kick up just a ball off the rack like a house ball at the center provides. There's no there's no wait. Lock in a senator. Bowling ball won't hook so it should go dead straight towards the pen. I can make a house ball hook a little bit. You know what. I hate greg. I hate when there's two pins left but it looks like there's one pin less being you got the one pin that surprise. That's another one hiding behind. That's the worst. What's the worst. The is the worst. What your top three worst. That's the worst bowling. So you know the tens of i do tell them okay so a three six nine ten basically on the side and then you have the one behind it about i. I think that's a billers worst nightmare. Our i think so. You've had nightmares about that. Spare percentage just low. It's not where it should be. That's probably my mouth beards fair. Is there any way to carry your skills over to ski ball. Have you tried ski ball at all trotsky ball. I like ski ball. I'm mediocre at it. You'd think i should be better. It's the ramp though. The ramp really throws things off like if there was that ramp and bowling. Bet that you wouldn't be doing as well because you can't really predict the ramp. You're correct but boy evil you know. It's the arcade version with the circles. Roll the ball. Oh yeah yeah okay. I didn't know what it was called. Yeah that before before we go. I think you're very proud of your bowling form. So i think you should like back up from your chair and show her like a dry. A dry run. That's what we call it right. Aaron give her a dry run of a swing and Let her evaluate it. Okay well. I'm i'm wearing basketball shorts right now. I'm not really. They're on going to attire. But madge nat. They're blue signed back center. I mean what does he hold it. See like a double double. He did a false start. There he was he was nervous. The pressure got to. That was the most embarrassing thing i've ever done in my life. But you know what the key to me. Erin is the exaggerated harm thing after all is through in the in the. Yeah what would you rate that on a scale of one to ten seven. Thank you wow. Professional bowler has given me a seven. That's on my tombstone. Put it on their one last question. Would you rather get a turkey or four strikes out of five but it's broken up. You have a spare in the middle. Because i feel like there's something turkey that i just like. I'd rather have the turkey. Yeah santer also prefer house bowling shoes over like actual bowling shoes. Because i liked the feeling of sliding where i feel like. If you get like your own personal bowling shoes you don't have that same slide. Why is that. I think it's going to shift from the bowling alley there. There used the broken in so the more use them the slipper the more slippery they get on the bottom they make you slide more. I guess you don't like the slide. I i can do the moonwalk good in house bowling shoes. Oh okay aaron. How did this go for you. Was this okay. Yeah this is fun. Okay thank you thank you. "We could ask for boxes of cards from our our parents and our grandparents for christmas or hanukkah or whatever and we could get boxes. That would basically allow us to complete our full sets in binders. You can't really do this anymore. Because it's like like. I mentioned it's next to impossible to actually get these Packs these unopened packs. And when you do get him you're paying top dollar for him likely in the second hand market place so brands like penny hoops. Don dhanra select prison. It's going to be hard to do that. So if you're trying to collect even subsets of cards like artists from tops project. Seventy which i think is really bad ass It's going to be hard. So i think you need to lose the whole I've got to have the whole set mindset and accept the new game and pc's personal collections are perfectly cool and fully accepted but the person who focuses on p. c.'s. Only these days is that they're usually too much of a purist for my taste. So i prefer competitive card collecting which elaborate on in a minute. I think the second thing is don't worry about cards as alternative investment. At first i was fascinated by the fact that my old collection could be worth enough to help my family get a down payment on a new house. So i thought okay i can i can. I can flip these cards. Forty fifty thousand dollars in the next few years and i loved that the sports card investor app and products and content kind of promotes profit from the hobby. You love but i just. I just don't think that's super realistic for a lot of us. In our late thirties into our forties. We just. We don't have the time necessarily to dedicate or the money. The disposable income to dedicate dropping on luca and on rookies and flipping them or waiting for our old cards even to be graded by a company like psi. It's possible but i just don't think that should be your focus. Will we need to focus on. Is what i call competitive card collect thing and you can go to competitive card collecting dot com.

"And today i'm gonna talk to you about staying calm cool and collecting well into your forties n beyond all right. Let's jump right into it. So i'm gonna use a recent blog posts that i wrote as a little prompt here for those of you who on make negative comments about me reading from my blog post. Go ahead and do so. It's not gonna bother me all right so this was actually put together for people who were born before nineteen eighty five because if you were born after nineteen eighty five. You really didn't grow up the way that we did those of us who are trying to collect sports cards into their forties. We know the drill. We basically sometime over the last couple of years likely. During the recent pandemic found our boxes of old sports cards or our parents found our boxes of old sports cards as they were cleaning out their house and shipped them to us. Either way. it's been a lot of fun going through them. And i've actually written a lot about this in my recent book that released on amazon called what to do. After you find your old sports card collection the middle aged dudes guide to selling old sports cards. You can go to know offseason dot com slash book and you can order that now. I would really really appreciate it. But what i mentioned in the book is that you can't walk into retail stores anymore and just buy packs for reasonable prices. That just doesn't exist. Be you got some price boehner's initially as you look at your old cards. And you searched on. Google found some ebay listings for thousands of dollars. Then you realized these cards in order to be worth money had to be greeted by greeting company likely. Psa or that they were just the asking price not the actual sold the price. Yada yada yada yada yada and three like that abe and three right three. The good old days are gone. The hobby that we remember is filled now with hot either high dollar investors that we can't really compete with or nineteen year old punk ass kids who just basically flip cards and talk shit on sub reddit. It's more on that coming up. And they moved back and forth between target. You know real physical target stores. Were there camping outside. Because they have the time to do it..

"It's showing you at such an early time like rape culture and toxic masculinity and all of these things that are so involved now to talk about. He really was eviscerating. The whole concept of this. This gladiator like sport. That just grinds up you know the bodies is about the only thing that's not really in the movie which is kind of ironic given that peter peter gent or gant however you pronounce his name. That wrote the book that it's based on said a little bit than one of the things. He was shocked by at the time. Was that the black players. 'cause this is all sort of a romantic cliff of his time with the dallas cowboys. Peter jen- was a wide receiver. Much like nick. Nolte's character in north dallas forty and he mentions in a couple of things written about the movie that he was surprised that the black players weren't allowed to live in the town that surrounded the dallas cowboys practice facility at the time which was in north dallas. And that's where he got the name from the movie. It's kind of curious that that's the one sort of thing that cutoff left out of this. Otherwise very prescient and eviscerating film about all of these things really tackle the racial angle baby. That's because at that time the nfl was maybe a little bit more of a white boys club. And you know black players were not yet the fodder for everyone else's entertainment that it would kind of grow to. I'm not sure. I don't know the history of the nfl in the early days enough. But i could imagine given american history that they were probably black. Players were probably excluded from the forties fifties sixties early seventies of the nfl. Much like they were in major baseball until you know integration so. I'm not sure where that came from. But it's interesting that it's missing. Yeah i mean it's in there a little bit It's noticeable when you go back and watch this film how much the team is almost entirely as you said You know southern white boys mum. The one exception of where race kind of gets Addressed is in the tension between Joe bob The big swim like I don't know if i don't know if he's supposed to be brain damaged votes benson benson but between him and the And some of the Deployed the defensive line players who were black number. The scene in the movie where Charles joining is reading that stupid thing that he allegedly found on the locker about what winning is all about and yes they showed the The african american players are kind of getting into it and they were doing all like calling response like a gospel. You hurt kind of respond. Helen tell it. Yeah exactly. And i think they're serious not everybody in. The room is serious in the way. But joe bob Gets offended by that right. We're supposed to draw off of that is that what's going on. Between at least him and some of the other characters is something you know. It's southern racism. Yes i think you're right and he doesn't like they're kind of i guess they're not really i guess he just doesn't like the way that they're responding and he finds that he finds it inappropriate. I don. I'm not you know not..

T. may I run one of the funniest scenes in the movie was was that it was three men and a baby we had Tom Selleck and then who was at the other two guys were you know kind of macho guys and they've they've got a diaper like my personal they like the P. just run away from breaking on the one hundred and twenty dollars I mean it was very funny very funny yeah I mean I'm a centrally you know the jokes weren't harmful they just you know that time is passed by and you can't do it anymore like even a guy who's a very mild comedian he never did any you know racial stuff or sexist stop he never swore and he hosted he I think he created the tonight show's Steve Allen right did you ever meet Steve Allen I knew Steve yeah I noticed that you know some I knew Steve on the newest wife for Jane meadows in fact I used to send Jane flowers every year interpretation I think she made it to ninety five wow and we have a little office off like in Sapulpa in Burbank yeah and he would I was over to the office one time he would play palace a song I wrote you know and he was always just creating things and doing that he was a nice man and Jane was a lovely woman right and he and it was a somebody challenger my came aboard comedian said tick to Steve Allen I'll give you you know a million dollars if you can write a thousand songs in a week and he did it yeah and then Jack Paar said name to but Hey I mean he discovered my dad wasn't very you know Steve Allen that's right he also discovered a Louis Nye and and I don don Knotts contacted all those you know he was he was very funny and I remember his big routine when I was a kid he would take rock and roll lyrics and read them as if they were letters you know that's great yeah yeah I think gene Vincent bee bop blue baby blue and then he would just play it out I never kids would get so mad a man who's wrestling again by the by the you know he was he was very funny you know you are nothing but a hound dog it would be like elderly yeah he was but even but even as my old as he was and hoping you know never to offend anybody he did a joke and I remembered him doing it this joke at the at the at downtown hotel things have built more than he did his job he's performing in front of it you know huge audience and he said I'm sorry I'm late but I was just at the temperature house and it was a set up in some ways Hey what's the temper house and he says I would say it's a charity for lightly battered women right and it might not but I imagine doing that joke today no you can't you can't do it until you can see the difference is I I think when I'm in a club and I look out and I see three or four hundred people I know none of them have been in a recent prime plane crash I know that they're all happy there smiling so you can make fun of it and it never leaves that room right right you know thanks it is like to me I remember once when the first airline pilot who was drunk was arrested we did a million jokes about it because of a drunk pilot in the cook arrested the lounge hello area correct in the cockpit not so funny in the lounge and I remember that this pilot's wife called me and you ruin my husband's career and very upset and really nasty and I I said well he was drunk ma'am I mean this is this is I mean I'm sorry I'm not mentioning his name I guess seven airline pilots I didn't say who the guy was and I I I I said I got to be fair he he could have killed on a plane load of people well he's not drunk in the morning all right well I'm sorry but that was the case that's something I learned because in in a club you can eat you're not dealing with someone who's a victim of a crime or whatever I mean there there that sounds fun to be happy so you can make fun of things since I think you know right but I think was Brian Regan bye bye Jay Leno's weathers Brian Regan does it entire run on a in an emergency room and he changed it from getting shot because it really brought the audience down because you know some people in the audience may have had family members who were shot so he changed it to a cannon ball and he knew that nobody in there has ever been shot by a cannon was able to do the same humor right yeah I mean that's yeah that's that's sort of how it works you know you have to adapt to the times I mean when people tell you can't you know it's like guys ago unity who does this joke I can't remember you know you can't even compliment women anymore you know yes but Bob nice rack it's not a compliment okay get out of that you know I mean I mean I mean it used to be called just being polite in L. I know you get a lot of you know yeah it's got a little yeah the pendulum swung way too far the other way I was working over at CBS and I I guy in exactly exactly I think it's sales guy walked by and there are three women in a room and they're all executives over at CBS radio and he stuck his head and he said Hey good morning ladies right any any move pressed on well he was sent to HR and he got suspended for two days because the I guess Hey ladies is a derogatory thing to say his argument was well I mean they were twelve feet from a a door that says ladies room I mean it says on the back row but a cherry list okay Lainey it is I think one more segment for a full hour that let you go anything okay sure all yes all right Jay Leno's Willis lately isn't coming this is great the real great break from cove in nineteen and then after J.
