"Losing his fifth labor to j. f. in what is not a farewell match probably not problems green. He screamed his way through rampage. First of all like i enjoyed rampage at did watch. I feel like i am the one who is the hardest on eight w of the three of us and i thought it was a fine show. I like kenny. I like all the people i get. What's cool about him. Come out with forty eight belts only two of which i can recognize and neither of them is the w world title like i had the strain to figure out what all the things were around him. I was live texting. When i watched it on a delay to everybody so they had to suffer through me going. Who which one is that so wait. There's a tna ended impact out of course now christian has retired the tna belt. Respectfully i still wish. I knew what i was watching. I really want i want. Let me in tony. Let me add in. let me in. I don't bring more things. I just order. Educate me please. I want to learn. And i'm not going to do my own research. This don't give me. Don't give me this week. It was because i was distraught by rampage last week. So then dynamite. So it fell by the wayside. And i couldn't kind of caught up. I felt lost this week. I was like wait. Is this guy with this person and who has does everyone have a belt. And what does that mean the ladies one so tiny But yet the the lack of co here storytelling. This is not the this is a celebration of the rampage. Was a nice tight. Our it was like wrestling equivalent. A good tight five. They did a really good job. Well done let's see if we can take that over to your other show that is currently a giant sprawling soap opera disaster. I feel like. I've just tuned into the bold and the beautiful after late not having watched it and twenty five years and be like wait. Who is that guy is back this person's still it it. It's it's very confusing. I i will say. Jericho looked a lot better this week than he last week shop shopper much sharper much more engaged And again i don't know if they were playing with the idea that he has been so tired from all of his labors that that was what it is. I don't know what was going on. But this week he definitely felt like he was way more. Like i just engaged in way more With it in the match. So i didn't like hate it. It doesn't feel like a retirement. I guess like if it was there would be more labors. hercules had twelve. If there was there would have been more labor's But it it you know. It's a fun story line. It was a fun story and it you know what a kudos to eighty. W because all of the work they did to get people to learn the lyrics to that fucking song worked part of me kind of wish is that instead of them tipping their hand they would have just let it happen organically. I'm not gonna lie. I also think it would have been really funny to listen to people like judas in my mind like it would've been really funny. I'm not going to lie but you know all the work that they did to like. Put the lyrics up and make sure everyone knew it. I did see. It's funny because like they would zoom in on people's faces while they were singing it and those people did not know the words so the watermelon watermelon juice in my mind. Who's really funny. But they i mean you know. They clearly got the crowd to do the thing. I did see some people reading the lyrics off their phone. But hey i don't blame you for that. I'm the one who stumbled through like two minutes of talking about something that happened to me a week ago because my memory is shot so i also would have been doing that so kudos for that. "In person event. How did Covid 19 impact your nonprofit over this past year? Because so many nonprofits had to Go virtual with events. It was difficult to raise awareness. It was difficult to raise funds because the economy had been hurt so bad when we shuttered it down once the pandemic started. How were you all impacted by Covid 19. Well, our chapters specifically definitely saw an impact on fundraising in the pandemic. Your last year we weren't able to achieve our fundraising budget and in part it was really challenging to raise dollars in a virtual world. Especially we saw that especially with our special events when we're used to gathering together. And really raising significant dollars night out through auctions and raffles and things like that, and and we saw a significant impact locally. I will say, though, that the foundation really rose to meet the needs of our community. We had a significant increase in the outreach that patients and professionals we're making to the foundation. Seeking resources on education. Um, support specifically around Covid 19. And the foundation really rose to meet that need and it was it was really impressive. Stress is one of the triggers for a flare up for Crohn's and colitis in IBD. Were you hearing from a lot of patients about their flare ups? During this time? I did hear from folks and, you know, can you imagine going through a flare up and feeling though you can't go to a doctor's office or feeling that you couldn't go to a hospital, and there was a lot of anxiety me in in general, I think we all face you know, increase in anxiety and stress over this past year, And so those were some of the additional resources that We put together to help during the pandemic. The upcoming take Steps walk, which once again will be taking place Sunday, June 27th at the Fort Worth Zoo, and if you want to sign up if you want to be.

"Vote Larimer Dot Org if you're county Residents so that's something they're looking ahead at. It is something worth noting. Hit is an election year and cove nineteen is not going to just disappear. We know that. So something that They're already planning for that. Male in voting could come in even more handy this year now more so that ever. This is a little bit of a wacky story. Coming out of the Greeley Tribune by Noel Phillips former Bronco's wide. Receiver Cody Latimer. Fired shots assaulted friend. At Poker Game Affidavit says now this article if you read this. It's just insane working through it. Look we've get it. We've all had those rowdy nights With our friends whether it's poker whatever and maybe have one too many adult beverages. Mistakes happen but not mistakes like what? Cody Latimer did. This is just simply inexcusable. Former broncos receiver from two thousand fourteen to twenty seventeen is accused of firing shots and striking a friend on the head with a handgun after an argument during a poker game according to a Douglas. County sheriff's Office Arrest Affidavit This happened on Saturday He was arrested for investigation of second degree assault menacing illegal discharge of a firearm prohibitive use of weapons and reckless endangerment. The affidavit said he was really Saturday from jail on a twenty five thousand dollar bond. The wide receiver is he was still playing for the Washington. Redskins appeared on court on Monday via video This is the story. This is where it really got crazy. So let's let's lay out the story of what happened here. Lattimore asked his friend to organize a poker game and seven eight people attended which hey they stayed amended under the ten people gathering. So that's important drinking alcohol as they played the affidavit said at some point lattimore got into an argument with another person at the card game which was held at the friend's apartment the host then separated the two and kicked everyone out good job right about thirty minutes later. Latimer return with a black handgun in the pocket of his Hoodie. Latter pulled the gun from his pocket and waved it around threatening to kill. Everyone the affidavit stated he fired two shots near the poker game host and his girlfriend but did not point the gun at them. According to the affidavit. If you haven't got that lattimore briefly calm down and emptied bullets from the guns magazines. But he became angry again and told his friends. He saved two bullets. The friend Pin Latimer against the wall. Which is when latimer allegedly struck him in the head. The French suffered head contusion. Analyzer ration- on his face So we'll see we'll follow that along but man Former Bronco in some trouble this all happening in In Douglas County as well so that coming from the Greeley Tribune. We're in the middle of Today's headlines Different things that have been popping up This next story coming from Fort Collins Colorado do want to let you know we want to hear from you. Call us on the all-female hotline nine seven zero three five three thirteen ten nine seven zero three five three thirteen ten or you can text feed mill text line at three one nine nine six three one nine nine six any new texters. All you have to do to subscribe is text. Kfi To that number now. This is something that I'm excited to talk about because it's good news first of all but it's also gonNA lead us right into our next guest coming larimer. County wants lighter corona virus restrictions And this is something that's coming from sadie Swanson of the Fort Collins Colorado and as I noted now this this sounds like complete opposite of what they've been asking for right because they have been very strict with their guidelines and how they've implemented things but they have seen slower numbers they have not reached a high number of people. So this is. They're going for a and keep in mind to governor police to the beginning of all of this said that you're able to open up with restrictions if you get approval and Weld County made headlines when they said okay. Let's open up to let allow businesses to open up with social distancing guidelines without getting the governor's permission but it is in there that if you've got the governor and the health department's To Go ahead you could reopen. And that's what this is what they're trying to do. This is a quote from Tom. Gonzalez Lamoure County Public Health Director. All the public health measures and sacrifices. We've taken in Larry. County have been successful and flattening the curve by decreasing the number of deaths hospitalizations an ICU utilizations. Unfortunately the curve does not go away. Obviously because we know we're going to be living with us. That was the he ended when he says he does not. It's not going to go away. The health department will continue to collaborate with our hospitals daily to monitor capacity triggers and are pleased that we can slowly reopen business ahead of the statewide safer at home restrictions. So this led obviously to my next question. How is it going to happen? What's IT GONNA look like? And we've seen some of the things with the major league baseball. We talked about that yesterday. No SPITTING NO HUGGING. No licking of the fingers. How are you going to force that? I have no idea but Let's talk about how they're gonNA enforce this public gatherings that was the first one right. We're only allowed ten people or more. This ordinance if is approved they were they put this in Friday for approval from the governor that would allow for public gatherings of more than ten people. Participants can maintain six feet of distance from others. At all times. Gatherings would still not exceed fifty people but up to fifty people which is encouraging face. Coverings would still be required in some sort of registration system would be in place to allow for contact tracing if necessary. This is where I've been hearing a lot of issues of people going to be tracing us. They're just GONNA WANNA know if they can get a hold of you. If there's an outbreak that takes place if you were there they wanna be able to let you know. Malls is something that is looking at opening the one that I'm interested about and you know what I I think we'll save. This is restaurants and bars. And that's an interesting one because we're going to dive into that later on in the program about how things are going to open up and what is GonNa look like when things do open up and what the possibilities are so many different things so we're GONNA get we're GONNA get a little crazy with it. We're GONNA talk of the different scenarios that could be happening before we get to break here..

"Into the intermittent fat at fasting is that is that a fad. Add going around this. It's taken off in human culture and the ideas you know actually evolved oft often. We weren't eating every day so your body was actually used to sometimes going with that. was there anything in so. That's like a counter intuitive. Whether whether or not it is good for us But the point I'm trying to make. Is there anything that's happened along the way that was just very surprising to you. Some counterintuitive thing that you would never thought that ended up being really good for some species issues. I'm not sure about that but when you talk about the intermittent fasting I mean certainly a lot of our big carnivores would eat large prey and the knotty for several days. The so sometimes you'll get well. Let's give them a fast day and it's like well that's not really letting them do what they would naturally do so definitely. We have another zoos have to well we haven't working in that direction is offering more of these large carcasses and so then that would replace days. They would go several days without eating if that's what we're going to feed so let's trying to get back to more of their natural ecology But it's not always easy to get a source of these carcasses and maybe there are other biases with how animals should look like dumbo Oh should be fats. End Chunky Fund is is that true or sometimes they actually in the wild are kind of slender and look different way seasonally. It can change so if you saw a picture of a free ranging lactating elephant in mind almost like a skeleton but I mean that's kind of what happens to them so we don't go that far here here but definitely there is a preconception with a lot of the public that the animals looking rounders more natural when that really isn't the case so that's definitely a challenge And we talked a little bit of a body condition scoring and again. That's like he can apply to cross every single animal because they have different body structures so like our Jaguars are are stockier cat than say the Tigers. So when you're scoring them you have to keep in mind their body shape and not just go. Well this is how tire she looks. This Jaguar why are you know is too skinny or something like that. You actually have to know know your animals you be end up developing an individual scale for each species if that takes time so we do a lot of those don't exist but they make great projects for interns in Things so it. But we all of our fellow nutritionist. We all help each other out. We have a website where we can share these resources of. Hey I developed a scale over this scale for them we can trade and there's a lot of We we we definitely rely on colleagues like ants mentioned earlier. One of us has an expert in everything so some of US depending where background background was from like we have one of Tricia sets. Her background was in Avian Science. I may turn to her with like. Hey there's this different poultry. There's different bird food. Can you help me. You know. We'll figure out what the energy content of this would be. "Clever buddy and welcome to the here. We are podcast. I'm having a fantastic tastic day today. Me and my special guest co host for the day anthropologist. Sophia Rockland we we just had a what did we did say. Saturated with information we spent the day at Fort Worth Zoo. And we've had an amazing behind the scenes look at the ecology of the zoo staff and nutritionists and every day I just I. It's been the most amazing day of my life boring creatures. It's been amazing Has Been a wonderful day And we are so excited guys. We're you're going to have We're going to have a bunch of fun episodes coming up for you. And this is the very first episode at the Fort Worth Zoo named named listed Regularly listed in the top five zoos in the US. And today we are interviewing Adam. Ruppert who has staff staff nutritionist. Here in an ward who is the director of nutrition. Thank you an- and Adam for joining us. So we just I got a whole tour And it it just pretend none of that just happened. The listeners weren't there and it all of it was so fascinating so few and I were both a wildly writing down notes. We have so much to talk about but before we get into our questions. And why don't you guys get just a little bit of a overview a little introduction into what it's like dumb being nutritionist at the zoo what that job entails goals and Yeah I have to say for me I. It's like I'm still in Grad school so I'm still learning stuff every day. 'cause there's so much that we don't know So I find it very a challenging and exciting I mean every day is different The animals are changing every day. I mean it's hard to believe some people say well. Why do you have more than one diet? Well well we had one thousand eight hundred forty seven diet changes this year people how people say. Why do you have more than one? Like you make a diet for an animal and then it has the same diet. What are you guys really do? When they don't understand I thought there's people out there that thought all animals just just like there's just one bag that says zoo and that's what you feed them but that that is actually very interesting? Why UAE are these diets in say a given species changing so frequently animals are growing reproducing lactating acting Animals are shifting exhibits shifting a different zoos and then it's our responsibility to keep up on the scientists coming out so as more information comes out on and how we can better feed these animals. You know then it's our job to apply it so but we just got the tour in the first thing that we saw was a big A huge kitchen kitchen. I never worked in a restaurant or anything but as a big industrial kitchen and does it work the same way that a a restaurant would is there. Are you like the master chef and then are there like line. Shafts and someone's job is just a slice the carrots and Assan and and And someone in you kind of oversee the the main recipe how. How was the dynamic? How does all that work so the staff we have Berbon preparing the diets? Each day They there's not sort of a top down hierarchy. There would be like an killer someone's barking orders all day but each our staff F- Have rotating schedule so they get to. I don't know there's ten to twenty different tasks that they would rotate through throughout the week take And so they would have a number of tasks each day that make up a full day's worth of work they're mostly working independently so that they'll be different stations depending what your task is So once they're fully trained. They're they're all sort of You know Different cogs in the wheel that that all come together to make all the diets finished the end of the day so they they're working side by side but at some of the diets are the sets will overlap with each other so they'll each other out But mostly they're designed to be an attendant hat independent task mostly so that they can work And and we can kind of move things around if we need to so. It's not wholly dependent on people but they the we and I are designed the diets the top so that there is there is some structure in terms. Of how how they get to where they what they're doing we designed the diets Formulate them based on the needs of the animal and then then we To implement those diets we have a label system which is a very fancy excel program that we put things into and it spits things out based on Um The animals What it is? It's name it's delivery location. The day of the week the amount of the food item. We weigh everything out by weight so that executives can be and then those keepers keepers we call them keepers or staff. They'll print those labels out every day and then they have a set of labels per task and they will just proceed with implementing filling those diets. And how many animals are you feeding again. I think we're feeling collection of over six thousand animals And the individual packages that are coming out of the building is over eight hundred and so some of those eight hundred little pieces come together to make one diet so it's not like we're making eight hundred diets every day. But they're doing eight hundred things have to come together And they're extremely efficient down there so they have their categories of somebody's doing all the diets. Somebody's doing all the fish diets. Somebody's he's doing all the dry diets and then they come together and even within that the manager down there has stuff organized so if some diets are chopped and sometimes our whole food you know. Saint person has all the chop diets. The same person's all the whole food. So you know you're not stopping and having to chop everytime make diet so it's really kind of pretty tight process down there that has to be very efficient fishing to make that number of items. How much does it cost to feed seven thousand critters in a zoo the funds for food alone in our budget? It is a little over nine hundred eighty thousand dollars so almost a million dollars nine dollars. That's that's not including the the staffer that's correct just to the food. That's just if it. Wow and now I'm curious. What are you guys? Don't have Koala bears anymore and not anymore because there was a there a big pain in the butt to feed that one because I did I did a Sydney Zoo tour in. I'm I doubt I'm recalling this correctly. But it was something like they're they're saying there's like some twenty thousand species of eucalyptus they can only this but there's only like twenty eh twenty species of the Eucalyptus that the Koala bears will eat because there's such finicky eaters and they just WanNa eat the tender top leaves a whole branch so no Koala bears at that makes your job easier anyway but what is what's the finicky. The thing that you got here was the biggest pain in the butt to feed. Oh Jeez I kind of change. They all kind of take turns Depends ends on their status to so if we have a sick animal they can be picky. Wow we had a goose a Hawaiian goose. This one was more cases last year. came into quarantine from a number. What do came from somebody who was in like a large aviary handrails so with all like oh it's goose no big deal and that bird was and instill is many times the air? It's so far. Seems to be a seasonal thing. We can't figure out but it it is the pickiest We know how different produce items ended up going for. Bugs is a lot but then the bugs became boring. And then it was grapes and blueberries and.
